Transcript
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: And welcome to very amusing, your one-stop shop for the story secrets and shenanigans of a popcorn fueled theme park journalist.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Curly Waisel, and I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: I already recorded an intro for this episode, it was ready to go, we were all set.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know, man.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: I had two and a half cups of coffee today, and that one was all about how it's so
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, hot Nelle.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: And it was not so hot anymore today and I wear a puppy vest and I wear a beany and I was like this just feels wrong.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: It feels wrong and dated in a little bit like a lie.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I had to re-record one and that's where we are.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: What did I say in that one that has been lost to time, we will never know.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: But either way, I feel like I've been the perfect mindset for a gab session episode and I cannot wait to bring you another.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very happy with the way we've reorganized these by the way.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm looking forward to this one as much as I hope you are as well.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: The only urgent thing I really have to tell you about is that last night I don't know what happened to me, but I like fully locked in and started cooking again Like not I mean me cook dinner every night, but like not and I thought a call in like making meals was a cool meal prep That's what's called obviously uh not even like meal prep I was just like I know I'm gonna be hungry at 10 30 tomorrow morning and I'm gonna have no breakfast food
- 1:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I made this like baked cottage cheese casserole.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, we're getting, see, see how much we've jumped from cottage cheese from cabs, that's to cabs.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, it really is like a yardstick in time for me.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I mean, this like baked cottage cheese, eggy thing.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: And like the whole internet was like, you gotta be baking that cottage cheese.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: They were right.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's delicious.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: I truly can't wait to, I mean, I don't want to, I can't, I can wait to finish the podcast like that's fine.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't wait to eat this after I finish recording.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's the right way to say that.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I don't want to waste the rest of your time.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just happy to be here.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to yapped about my favorite TV shows in the moment.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, we have so many to talk about about seeing blue-y and bingo in the flesh and the fur, however we want to put it.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: So exciting, some other Disney stuff.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: So much life stuff.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I'll tell you in a second.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: So who cares?
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'll see you on the other side.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy this little chat with Becky.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_00]: See you momentarily.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, love you, bye.
- 2:23[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back and boy, boy, do we have a lot to discuss today including the fact that I just bought this new thing called a shock mount from my microphone because I have a problem where I just keep like hitting the desk I talk with my hands.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: I can't help it even though no one can see me.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be talking with my hands.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be gesturing and I can hear like I'm very picky You know that I want you to have the highest quality experience well listening to this podcast even if the content sometimes is me being like
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I love popcorn.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just wanted to be the best version of I love popcorn for you.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I really care about.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I always hit things and I always take off my bracelets.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: I always were jewelry and that's in the clanging you might hear in the background.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I bought this thing to put in the mic, but I don't think it's gonna work with the way that my mic is set up on this tripod.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I need one of those, you know, whenever you see someone like YouTube being a podcast, they like pull the mic as like an arm and they're like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, and they like readjust it like they're on NPR or something.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have that.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: I have a little tripod.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: because my desk has rounded edges, yada yada yada.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: I bought this thing, it's not going to work, but this should still sound great.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the rings.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: The rings also, you can hear that, that's the rings.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just going to slowly take off all my jewelry and then we're going to get into it because we have a gab session episode today and if you didn't listen to February's with there was a discussion of should this be called gab session or should this be called mishmosh.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: I got a lot of replies, a lot of calls, a lot of texts, including one like literally two days ago that was like, oh,
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Final vote for Mishmosh.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I think people really prefer gabsash.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: They think it in, it kind of sums up what these episodes are more than calling it a Mishmosh.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: So we will keep it in as gabsash going forward.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: I hope that is cool with you.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: And to my Mishmosh people,
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: I know, Mishmosh just really makes me want a soup full of multiple.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: So I guess at least, Cap Sashmosh makes me less hungry and keeps me more focused on the task and heck.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: But when I reorganize this format last month, because remember, we are going to be doing these probably once a month now.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel like it's a really good catch-all for a lot of stuff.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: I want a chat with you about that isn't always full episode worthy.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_00]: When you combo them all together in those four categories, it just kind of makes sense.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: We will begin with Disney stuff.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: We got to discuss.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: The next one is things I've done that I want to chat with you about or say things I've done lately that I want to chat with you about, which really, that's kind of all I want this podcast to be.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Unless we're like learning how audio item and electronics work.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: The tireless pursuit of feeling good all the time and that I'm going to be a little short this month, but we've still got it in there.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: And stuff I'm currently obsessed with.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like truly those are the four horsemen of my existence.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: But we were going to begin with Disney stuff we got to discuss, because there was some pretty big news over the past week, which was that we had the name and some details about the new Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney belief.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: Now, we knew new ships were coming, but this is the first bit of concrete info we have been given.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: There are going to be 13 ships total in the DCL fleet by 2031, which is not that far away.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: right now there are eight in operation including the adventure it feels like the adventures like this other thing that we don't include kind of like when you're talking about Disney parks and you're like oh yeah and then there's the Tokyo one but it's not really operated by the Walt Disney company it is one of theirs even though it does feel a little disconnected from the rest of the fleet maybe it's just because that's how it feels now but this fleet is going to be global so soon so
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: I guess that's just how it is.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, 13 ships by 231 means we are going to get five more ships in the next five years, which is wild.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: That is an unprecedented pace that I for one as a Disney company fan cannot wait to see.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: But what struck me is like pretty surprising by this announcement, is that it is a bit odd that when you actually sit down and think about it, the wish-class ship, which the Disney believe will be, it will be the fourth wish-class ship.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: that class of ship is now becoming representative of the entire Disney cruise line fleet like there's going to be four of them and that's pretty wild to me because I don't know if you've felt the same way but for the past few years I've just been viewing these with the lens of them being different
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there were the first two ships.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're like, ooh, the smaller quainter ones.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Then, ooh, the dream and the fantasy.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: And for so long, it was just those four.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Two different styles, two ships each.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Now we're gonna have double thing amount of the same style of ship.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: And that's becoming the norm, which I knew, I guess what happened.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why I was like, we have three of this one, and then we're gonna have a new type for the believe.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm excited to see what they do with a fourth crack at this ship, because I do think, which you know, if you listen to the episode,
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: I do think the Disney Destiny feels different from the other two-wish class ships, and I'm really interested to see what they do to differentiate them with this ship.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I got this information from a press release to my inbox when I was like screaming through the canyons in LA.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, going down cold water, driving, like, oh, I get your birds chirping, there were trees everywhere, stopping a red light, check my phone and scream, because I didn't put it together that this news was coming while I was just driving across town.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: And the press release, they say that this ship will be, this is me paraphrasing the quotes.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: We'll be filled with the powerful stories of Disney characters who believe in themselves and their dreams and the promise and possibility of a better tomorrow.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Does equality exist on the Disney belief?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: I like that.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, promise and possibility of a better tomorrow.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_00]: I like looking towards a better future.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's somewhere that I'm finding comfort in these days.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: This ship will bring to life the worlds of Enkanto and Frozen, the wishing wells interesting, of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and the depths of the sea with Moana and the little mermaid like never before.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: No specifics have really been unveiled about who will be in which space, especially if it is a wish-class ship, we already kind of know where things are going to go, but I'm very curious to find out.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: The Snow White Lingo wishing wells makes me think that either the atrium is going to be a snow white atrium, which oh, I would love that, but I'm kind of like, I'm talking about wishing wells, maybe it'll be the pool, like maybe it'll be that splash area with the buckets, like that'll be snow white themed, which would also be so rad.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: Um, in terms of, you know, the one theatrical style restaurant, I am praying that is in Conto.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: Please, like that space would rock so hard in it with an inconto theme.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: But honestly, I'm gonna, I'm just for a wild guy in there, I am praying that we get rid of a Marvel restaurant and they we swap it with Frozen.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: We don't need four Marvel restaurants.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: When the ships came out, it felt like so important to have them there.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm kind of good.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think that having more themed dining on the ship would actually be a really great thing.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I think it would be very cool.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_00]: In this press release I was reminded because I completely forgot that cruises are coming to Japan in 2029.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: So keep in mind there is a chance.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: Then in the future you can go and do your Tokyo Disney trip in the future.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a few years away.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: Do your Tokyo Disney trip and then do a Disney cruise line sailing while you are there.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, I'm already.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: Gosh, we're so lucky!
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: We're so lucky people used to wait so long for a new ship and now we just get them all the time.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's a really good time to be a Disney fan.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, that was the majority that Disney Cruise Line news.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really cover executives whenever possible because I don't want to do it, but I mean, Josh is now running the show, Bob, has, I guess effectively retired.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: I keep expecting him to come back and be like, but wait, there's more.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, kind of like he does in those segments, but no, this is it like Bob coming back that one time really Um, I was like sitting on the couch shaking.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: I remember texting with Scott Guston being like What is happening?
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna call my is this real and so like now I keep being like put his mom coming back But I guess like this is it, right, but Josh is in charge and it's I don't know I think it kind of exciting it feels a little like
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Your classmate from freshman year is becoming the class president.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: He was a part-sky for so long and now he is running the show.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gonna do a great job I really don't know much to say it's kind of like we've we've seen him work for a while now and I expect the same from the top It's kind of nice just be like the dude knows how to take care of parks.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I have faith
- 10:45[SPEAKER_00]: I have faith Thomas Maslow who was at Disney Cruise Line, then Disneyland Resort, which was really exciting to have him there, is now taking over Josh's job, which I also think people do an excellent job of that.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's just thanks to like, things feel devoid of chaos right now, you know?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_00]: And that's just a nice place to be as a Disney fan.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: And while the next thing I'm gonna talk about does live in the space between our first two categories, I guess we'll just formally kick off the things I've done lately that I want to chat with you about segment.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: By talking about... Bluebee.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Bluebee and Pingo with Disneyland, which feels...
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's so interesting because it feels so aligned.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: It feels so normal and so correct that you can see Bluebee and Pingo with Disneyland.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: But then you zoom out and it's like, oh, people have been consuming Bluebee content.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: all day every day for years.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: And there was no way to see them at the parks like this.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like it feels like it's been there forever and yet there is the excitement of it being brand new at the exact same time.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is a perfect partnership.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: I think it is such a good addition to Disneyland.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I really, really, really, really hoping to incorporate Blueie and Bingo going forward across Disney parks.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_00]: And even bigger way than they have planned, just because I'm recording this
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: I went to the preview on Saturday and Sunday, uh, you know, the day after the preview, it was very, very busy.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: Blue and pink, oh, we're in high demand.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it was the first time these world famous characters that appeared at Disneyland, that makes sense.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_00]: But I just, I don't know what it's going to look like in the months going forward.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: There is no end date to this entire activation, which happens at Fantasyland Theater at Disneyland Park.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_00]: It is supposed to run according to my colleague Todd Martin's from the L.A. Times.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's supposed to run, there's no end dates, supposed to run through spring and summer at least.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: I suppose.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_00]: It is a question I meant to ask when I was there, but I'll tell you.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: Doing your job while also being on mom duty was complicated.
- 12:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was hot, Pearl was just not having it that day.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: And if you have a kid, you know what I mean.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it's like, there are some off-daste where things don't go great.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm never one who's going to force her into anything.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_00]: And so she had a really hard time kind of getting out the door.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Had a really hard time like even getting in the gate at the park.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: We usually have, we also have a routine where we go to the parking lot.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm taking them on real in, even though you have to collapse your stroller barf, it's just easier because it bypasses the whole line of the front gate.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: It just makes it easier to like boop right in.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: So this time we went all the way to the front.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: We were checking in for the event.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: We had to take a photo for her ticket.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't go great.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we came in with a little bit of chaotic energy.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: The opposite of the leadership of DC right now.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like we just came in being a little bit of a hot mess literally and figuratively.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: And so I did my best to like report on what was happening.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think I got all the essential details.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: I got to feel for what the entire event is, but it was a little touch and go there for a minute.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: You will probably not see a food review for me, because it is just a video of me sweating bullets, eating food being like, this is a potato!
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just like tried to get everything done at once.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: So again, that's why I didn't really get all my questions answered, because I was
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: Juggling both.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm realizing that is something I am not good at.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's like if I'm on mom duty If I'm a Disneyland with Pearl, that is like I'm there in a mom capacity If she doesn't want to be there we leave if she's hungry we abandon everything we're doing We got to get out of line totally fine like I might even though I'm in a place that I tangentially work at I am mom first and that is most important
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: But here it was like oh no it's work first, but it's also it was a bluey family event and it was like both things at once and it was just a little hard to juggle So we made a work.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_00]: I husband came with He mostly took care of Pearl.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_00]: He is so good at being a dad and I am so grateful because I could not have done this without him
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, once the show started, it was really delightful.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it was, the show was fantastic.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: We obviously were there for a media preview.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was emptier.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: There was more room to move around.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to lean too much into like, wow, we just like freely dance around because I don't know what the situation is going to be going forward.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: If you're used to seeing the, kind of like Disney Junior show, I'm blanking on the actual name of it right now, over a DCA.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: You are used to sitting cross-legged and scooched up kind of cramped in with other people.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't love that.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be standing.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be dancing.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like this experience really reminded me and taught me that one of my favorite things in the world is just to be at a live show with my kid jumping up and down and dancing.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is so
- 15:13[SPEAKER_00]: fun to me.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: And so we got to do that a little during this.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: That was a great view.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of harder to do that when people are sitting behind you and trying to see.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_00]: I know, and again, we are reporting on this from like one day of the blooming show, which will be daily.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sure the weekday crowds will be better.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_00]: And like I'm they're going to were operationally.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: They will be so locked in so soon.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: I am sure.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_00]: But I know the first day was a lot of that sitting cross-legged and I don't prefer that.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: I prefer to be able to stand to move around, etc.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_00]: etc.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the big takeaway.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: There's two big takeaways from Blueie arriving at Disneyland.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: And remember, it's not just like they're throwing Blueie in Pingo on stage.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_00]: This is a full show live entertainment.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, incredible actors and dancers on stage.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing so much and like really rounding out the show and making it so good.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: The area feels themed.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_00]: There are these big objects.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_00]: There's like so many references to the show.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: There uh, there's a pizza girl's big potato.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_00]: There's a mud cake cold brew.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of yummy foods.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: Beware of the asparagus, the magic asparagus pretzel.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_00]: If you didn't see my video on Instagram, just beware.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: Just beware.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's nothing like, you know, taking a little selfie video with your kid and then watching bright green goo dribble out of her mouth.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: It was like what you expect when someone becomes a zombie.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_00]: We won't, listen, we won't be, we won't be getting that one again.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: The food dial levels were dialed all the way up.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: anyway, there's two big takeaways from the show.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: One is that this was the correct way to bring Blueie and Bingo to the park.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: Full stop.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_00]: I was a little not bitter, but a little judgmental of the fact that Blueie and Bingo would not have a traditional character meet and greet, because duh, everyone's kid wants to meet Blueie and Bingo.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: But what they've done is essentially figure out how they can get the maximum amount of time that
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: families can spend with these characters while also making sure that they wait the least.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is a large amphitheater space.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people can fit in there and a lot of people can experience pooling and being going this live environment that isn't just them being like we're here and then walking away like a truly entertaining.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: It is a robust show.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_00]: There are so many references to the actual series if you happen to watch it.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_00]: I just thought it was really great.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: It was way better than a meet and greet and like I think they did a fantastic fantastic
- 17:33[SPEAKER_00]: the other thing which we're going to echo a little bit of last week's episode here.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, the other thing that I'm going to emphasize is what this proved to me and what other people have been talking about and I want to just agree with them and echo their sentiments as well, which is that we need more live entertainment like this at Disneyland Resort.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: The positive reaction to this is proof and may I add we need more live entertainment like this
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I love a parade.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: I love a cavalcade, but I'm not going to be there from the months of March all the way through September.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to do it.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot handle standing in the direct heat to try to squint and see a float.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_00]: Not for me.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: However, it's only as I was like if they had this really big building in one of their parks that was, you know,
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: Filled with seeding happened to have a stage in lighting.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_00]: It was like really set up for production.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: The people could just come into and watch a show during the day.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: I saw almost like we would really enjoy that.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: As parkgoers, we would really enjoy that.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: If say something like the Hyperion Theater would reopen.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_00]: We would really enjoy that, okay?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm sorry, I'm so upset, but again, I had to take my child on a cruise, which I don't know Like I didn't want to do it anyway, but I did take my child on a cruise to see a frozen musical Because that was the easiest way to see a frozen musical was to go out to the ocean There's that because they won't reopen the Hyperion, okay?
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like guys, let's just reopen the Hyperion, just put a show up there.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: I guarantee people will spend more time in the parks, they will probably spend more money, they will surely buy merch, it is a good idea all around, I just think, if they reopen the Hyperion, everybody would be a lot happier and it would give people a chance to cool off and enjoy live entertainment and like, I don't know, maybe they would enjoy a seated show so much that they would go spend more money online, king on Broadway or go see other things, please!
- 19:25[SPEAKER_00]: Please just reopen the Hyperion from the parent of a child who came home with a full blown Elsa costume that she bought at the mall.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: Please do as a favor and reopen the Hyperion.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: That is all, but Blue and Bingo rocks, totally rocks.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Really glad they did this, and I hope it honestly, I hope it stays forever.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: I hope it stays forever.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: I love having something in there, and I know like people loved other things that have existed in that space before, but I really think it's like, because Blue and Bingo aren't fully, even though they were on an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or something like that.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: I like that there once you step over to that fantasy land theater area, but just kind of closed off, like that's blue-y space, that's blue-y land.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: in the park.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: Now, before I stop gabbing about Blueie, I do just want to mention, I am still not over Olaf.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: I can still not over-o-loff.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I meant to make a video about it, and I never did, and it's like, on my to-do list, we'll see if I get around to it.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know if I mentioned this before.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_00]: I got a call the day before.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: I was at the doctor, and I got like a text or an email from one of my PR people that was like, give me a call, and it's like, ooh, if there's something in that email, something's going down, something big is happening.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm like, truly checking in on the kiosk at the hospital and see my doctor, and I call them, and I'm like, was up.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's go in and you truly like I kind of those calls and it's been like You ready to go to Shanghai like anything can happen from those kind of calls and so pick up the phone and basically like like someone being like Like asking me if I if I wanted to be like the star of a musical They were like would you like to come to a engineering and meet Olaf tomorrow and I was like you
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: Ben, I would.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_00]: I will clear my schedule for Olaf, and that's exactly what I did, and it was so cool.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy that I was so close to Olaf that like, if my lipstick touched him, I would have stained him.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: I was, they let me that close to him.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: I, I will never get over it.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_00]: I will never, ever get over that.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: That was so, so freaking cool.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_00]: All right, onto other things I've done lately that I want to chat with you about, and now a lot of things that are like front of mind, but I can't really discuss them yet.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: Not really in a cryptic way, they're just like still on the oven and it's not time.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's not ready, but we will discuss them soon.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: But I personally have been trying really hard to be out and about more than I have in recent times, and I'm really struggling at finding this sense of a middle ground.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_00]: I just constantly feel like mentally, I'm a Sims character who's walking into a wall.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I can't seem to just get everything to align.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: I just want, I keep getting stuck between these two world of things that I want.
- 21:57[SPEAKER_00]: Like, for example, the,
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: I guess the dichotomy would be the word.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like the dichotomy between wanting to be with my kid more and wanting to be doing my job more.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_00]: I promise this is not going to be an episode all about being a parent.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_00]: I promise I promise I promise.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like another one is that I really want to sit at home, be in my office, no distractions, and focus, and work, and get things done.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: I want to not feel overwhelmed by things I might to do.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like I want to just get things done.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: But then I also want to be outside and and feel the sunshine on my face and roll down the windows and feel the breeze and have an empty day have like six hours in front of me on a Tuesday or nothing's going on.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I think a lot of this back and forth is like kind of yin and yang existence.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure a lot of it is ADHD.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure everything I do and say and breathe and consume is ADHD based like my brain works differently from a lot of other people.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe not so many here because we are a lot of us are pretty similar, but I just like, I don't know, I feel like while I have the medication I need and like, I'm doing pretty well and getting things done, like, you know, my desk is messy, but like, I'm not that behind on emails, I'm not like running late to everything the way I used to, I used to be like 20 minutes late to everything, I didn't know where my keys were, I would have like a meltdown leaving the house, I'm not like that anymore.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: functioning probably better than I ever have before, but I really don't feel like I have a top-level grip on what that all means.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm always doing these little tasks at night, like little leftover bibs and bobs of work.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't figure out is that the way I'm programmed is that just the sign of a person who has a very full life between like work and responsibilities and a social life like a well-rounded existence.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like is it normal to send yourself email reminders to think friends for birthday gifts for your child and then to set more reminders and then never actually do it, which I'm realizing I set the reminder yesterday afternoon and explicit night night in do we get so we'll be doing that after we record this like do most people have to set alarms to change their laundry I don't know, but it's just the way I am and I try really hard to
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: Just kind of like accept the fact that like, ah, this is the thing I get stuck with is that I have the gross benefit of being in charge of architecting my life I am in charge of making my own schedule because I am someone who doesn't think linearly I'm not someone who can work in an office like I've done it before and I've distracted everyone and I've made everyone's life worse Because I just want to hang out and I can't stop gabbing and I have too much fun, but
- 24:25[SPEAKER_00]: But look, now that I work from home, I have to be the person in charge of that, and I'm just going to struggling with it lately, because I've been like scheduling everything in, everything in, everything in, and then like, it's hard to be spontaneous, and my brain kind of needs that.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm trying to let that go.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, today is an example.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: I spontaneously met up with two friends this morning.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_00]: I met up with one at a coffee shop at 830 and then we took Pearl to school together and then afterwards I was like, Oh, I had something to give to a friend and she was like, Oh, just meet me for coffee after my workout class.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: And so I met her at like 930 like truly right after we hung out for an hour and usually that's my like gotta get home and record time.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: But everything's going to be fine.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_00]: What's going to happen if I miss something?
- 25:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still going to record when I get home.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's all going to be fine.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so there were a few things I wanted to go to last week, and then we're technically during the time that I would schedule to work.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: But as a, you know, a good employee and a bad boss, bad boss, good employee.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: I am.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: I blew up work for a few hours, and it was freeing!
- 25:26[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, it was freeing!
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: There is this brand that I followed online forever.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_00]: I've never bought their stuff because I'm very picky about like sizing, and how things feel, how things fit, materials, and neurodivergent.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: Clearly, I'm so this brand called Love Est.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're a Spanish brand.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing this pop-up at a house in Beverly Hills.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: And you're just like DM them for the Andres they tell you the Andres you show up and it's like in a living room I'm an elegant home and you just like try and close in a spare bedroom or in the bathroom like a cute little bathroom You just like try on pants and And that's it and then if they fake you buy them I thought it was gonna be like a oh you like trying them on and they're for sale in a few months No, they were like you can bring those pants home today.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_00]: So the I bought a pair pants
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it's just so wild like I bought a pair of pants because I saw it in like the mirror and like an outdoor patio and was like, I guess these work and they're like, okay, don't and then just bought pants
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: Is that how people are buying clothes?
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: Inside fancy people's homes?
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, these pants were not that expensive.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_00]: They were, I mean, they were not cheap, but they were not like, they were, I think they were all $170, which is a lot of money for pants.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_00]: However, I thought this was gonna be like, I thought this is what people do in clothes cost $3,000.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: I was not expecting it to be a price that is cheaper than Allison Olivia at Bloomingdale.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: So you know what I mean?
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: And I have so few pairs of pants.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: So I am in dire need of pants.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: So it was like, okay, we're getting a task done.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: We're buying some really cool striped unique pants small brand woman owned felt like the right investment.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I don't know how these pants are on the way.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: And it feels like it was all a fever dream.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: It was so cool.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: And then after that, I just drove across a lay, oh, Motown Mall, Holland with the windows down, just, oh, trees everywhere.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was really blissful.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_00]: It was really blissful.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think I need to bring balance into my life and really find ways to seek out that little spontaneous story.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like I did today and like I did last week and it was really, really nice.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I bring this up,
- 27:25[SPEAKER_00]: as because there's something I'm trying to do more that I feel like other people could relate to.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_00]: I am just being more conscious of the fact that I chose to live here, like I chose to live in Los Angeles, and I'm kind of...
- 27:38[SPEAKER_00]: I guess you'd say, I'm resting on my exploration laurels.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, there is so much to explore in my city, so much to explore in any city, and I often just don't do it.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_00]: You know when you see something online, maybe it's like a local, and TikTok or Instagram feed, maybe it's like someone reporting on a new restaurant, and you're like, oh, that looks cool.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then you never think of it again.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you also do this, you bookmark it, you send it to someone you live with, you send it to friends, and you're like, we should go to this.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then you never do, I hate doing that.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: And I do it all the time.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm constantly like, oh, we should all go to this.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: And we're all like, yeah.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then it just doesn't have that.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm trying so hard to break free of that pattern.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying so, so hard.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because,
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: There's like this endless amount of things to do now that people are posting about everything like I keeping like, oh, one day I'll drive there.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, one day I'll do it.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like those random drives and kind of quick day trips like quick half day trips never really get accommodated Unless they are on the calendar.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like my job right now is to encourage you to do just that because I know it is not just me feeling this way.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: I posted a video last week after my cruise about
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: This place that I stopped for the world's best chocolate chip cookie, which I also like, I view Gineans in a category of its own.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_00]: So like Gineans, please don't be offended.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it is this cookie in this place called Fox Point Farms.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's the name of it.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: It's in.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: Encin and Sanitas and Sanitas California.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's right by kind of like Lego land.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's on the way to San Diego if you're driving from LA.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_00]: And we discovered this place because I randomly, I don't even know how I saw TikTok.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's just a go.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: Truly years ago.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I was just like, oh, I got to go there one day.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_00]: And then this drive came and I was like, Ben, we have to stop on the way back from the cruise.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: When we went to the San Diego last year.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: Please stop blown away by the chocolate chip cookie.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Haven't stopped talking about it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_00]: Haven't stopped thinking about it.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so I was like, you know what?
- 29:32[SPEAKER_00]: They have really good coffee.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: I could use a coffee.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm in charge.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm driving pearl and we went both on the way to the grooves and on the way back.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: And what shocked me is that I knew locals were going to turn up in the comments.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_00]: I was expecting everyone to be like, how did they miss you?
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here every Friday or like, oh my gosh, I love it there.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what happened.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: There were half dozen maybe, maybe more people commenting, oh my gosh, this is right by me and I've never been.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_00]: And this keeps happening to all of us, like this destination that I truly got in the car and drove for over two hours, get away excited to go to this place.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: This place, like, oh, I'll say about it in a second.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_00]: It is amazing.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_00]: People live nearby and they haven't been.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_00]: And they're just like, oh, I've been meeting to go there.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_00]: So this is all of our assignments in the month.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to try to find a place that we want to go to, that we never really find time for, put it on the calendar.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to make it happen.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to encourage you to do it.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_00]: You got to encourage me because I got to figure out there's so many places I want to go.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: We got to do it because there's so much out there left to be explored.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_00]: Now, Fox Point Farms, if you happen to live near this place, it is the best way I can explain it is, it is going to be reality show in three years.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, here, I'm going to look it up because there's so much I want to tell you, okay, so I'm actually in terms.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: So it is essentially a living community like there's a lot of new builds there, but then in this center.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_00]: They have a working farm.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: They have a brewery.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_00]: They have a farm shop.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_00]: They have a restaurant.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like there's more.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: There's maybe like a yoga studio or something.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I've only really gone gone to the farm shop and hung out.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, we would wait.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: Catch gatherings.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_00]: What is that?
- 31:08[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's just like the brand of everything.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm missing one.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, they have a coffee roastery!
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, okay, it's telling you this place is like, it is like a millennial hipster heaven.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: It is incredible.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: I saw like this very stylish woman.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: There's not like a playground.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: There's more like a big log that kids can play on that's a slide.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously we play on it.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: This is like the most wonderful place to bring a child.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: I cannot even...
- 31:32[SPEAKER_00]: I can't sell it enough.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I was like, by the long slide with Pearl, there's some other kids there and there's like chic, chic moment was like, we're closed on our house today.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: We can't wait to move here.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then it's just all young parents living next to a freaking farm.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, Pearl and I, I had to charge my car.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_00]: PS don't charge your car there.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: We got eight miles and two hours.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: Not ideal for a drive home.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_00]: However, uh, worth it because it gave me an excuse to stay and do the farm tour.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: A box of person, maybe like 15 box of person, whatever it was, it was worth every penny because we did the farm tour.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's like every half hour, we walked through the fields.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: The lovely person who worked on the farm showed us the different plants, then showed us these like lettuce and greens that they make, and was like feel free to pluck one out of the ground.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_00]: My kid gets a plug when I'm in the ground, and then the rest of the tour, what was it?
- 32:25[SPEAKER_00]: Feeding the fresh greens to all of the animals that they have.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_00]: They have so many animals.
- 32:29[SPEAKER_00]: They have so many animals.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: We got to feed, like, let us, like, a cow, a pop belly pig.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: I got to feed let us to a horse.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 32:36[SPEAKER_00]: They also have a highland cow which was so soft and so fluffy.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was amazing.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_00]: It was amazing!
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: And this is just in the backyard of a bunch of people in California and they just have to go to it.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_00]: So let my tail be an inspiration to you that we are going to collectively try harder to do exciting things in your us.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_00]: Just one, just one this month because I know that I need the push and if any of you need it too, I am here for you as well.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to take a quick little break and we'll be right back with some more
- 33:03[UNKNOWN]: Thank you for watching.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_00]: welcome back.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_00]: I goofed.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: I, um, I went to break too early because we are very much still in our things I've done lately that I want to chat with you about section and we're just going to get back right back into it.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: Oops.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: I usually like to do that and then have a clean break between the two and then the two.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what's happening and it's totally fine.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, it's going to be totally fine.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be totally fine.
- 33:42[SPEAKER_00]: Some other stuff I've done.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_00]: It went to a different neighborhood in LA.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_00]: I never go to again.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_00]: felt really nice to be somewhere.
- 33:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not usually at.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: Also underestimated how many famous people are just flopping around in Brentwood.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_00]: Whoopsies didn't think about it.
- 33:55[SPEAKER_00]: I went to this restaurant farm shop with Pearl for her like one of her birthday breakfasts.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_00]: because basically I kept around the school because there was a stomach flu going around, so we needed activities to fill the time.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_00]: And so I went to this place farm shop.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_00]: They're kind of an LA institution.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think they provide pastries to a lot of different places around LA.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_00]: But let me tell you, if you're in LA, and you want to see famous people, go to farm shop on a Friday before 11.30, because they're
- 34:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh there!
- 34:19[SPEAKER_00]: They're all roaming around!
- 34:21[SPEAKER_00]: They're all there!
- 34:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I guess it was pre-askers, but still, they are just, they're just everywhere.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_00]: There's a local bookstore there that I picked up another copy of Rebecca Cerule's book because it was signed.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to sign to copy.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_00]: I know I can ask her, I don't know.
- 34:33[SPEAKER_00]: Isn't we just like ask a friend when you're in their house to be like, sign my book?
- 34:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know!
- 34:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I wanted to buy one from the store.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_00]: It just felt more special.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, oh, my exclusive signed one from diesel books.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and I, for Pearl's birthday gift, I bought her a bunch of new books, which was also like buying myself a present because I didn't realize, I thought, you know, when you're a parent, and there's a bookshelf full of books, you chose them all.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_00]: But that is not the case.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're often gifts.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_00]: They just kind of wanting to be in your house randomly.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of the books are ones I have not chosen.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 35:05[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta read this, I don't wanna read this book, um, but I got to choose some, and I got some really cool ones.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_00]: They books now?
- 35:12[SPEAKER_00]: Beautiful.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_00]: Children's books?
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: The illustrations, the stories?
- 35:17[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, beautiful.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: It was just really nice too.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: to be in control of my destiny as close.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I did finally eat and max in Hellen's.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_00]: I know that there were some people in the foamally that it asked about it.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was having a huge moment when they opened in large mont or in Hentac park in Los Angeles.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_00]: It is Phil Rosenthall's restaurant with his daughter Lily.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_00]: I guess it's both of theirs.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's more Lily's.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know where that line falls.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I am here to say that
- 35:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, the room is about the hot chocolate or true.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_00]: It is absolutely iconic.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_00]: It is the most chocolatey thing you've ever tasted in your entire life.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_00]: I got it from Pearl and I and she was not interested.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, the whole top was like marshmallow, which she loves.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_00]: Not interested.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_00]: But I ate a ton of it and it was delicious.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_00]: If you like hot chocolate, check it out.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_00]: Also, they were like public for like, oh, their lines are telling the block.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you can get in.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_00]: And while I'm sure that's still true on weekends and stuff, I went on like a Wednesday morning walk right in.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: There was a table.
- 36:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was busy.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: There was only like two tables open, but they were tables.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_00]: So check that out.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_00]: And if you aren't in LA anytime soon, I don't recommend you go to squirrel for dinner.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: Squirrel, um, a lot of people have heard of them because there was a jam controversy.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, the moldy jam.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_00]: We all know, but honestly, the food there is so good that I don't care.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care about what happened there before because it is dialed in and it is fantastic.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I think I've raved about their regular breakfast lunch food before they basically originated this Pesto Rice Bowl.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_00]: They're not the first people ever from rice in a bowl.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_00]: Trust me.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to say something as stupid as that.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_00]: But it's just like Pesto Rice Bowl.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_00]: I've seen other people do a similar version of this specific one, but like their Pesto Rice Bowl is so good.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_00]: It is so, so good, um, and they just started serving dinner.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_00]: I have been three times since they opened about six weeks ago.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_00]: It is quickly emerging as my favorite dinner restaurant in a way because, is it near me?
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: Is it easy to get to?
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: Also, no.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I love it because it, it kind of, it hops this fence between being so casual while still feeling like a nice night out.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need like a fancy booth and a fancy waiter and like the whole thing.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_00]: But I love good service and I love good food.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to be spending any money on a dish that isn't delicious period.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I don't love like going out a lot, trying new places sometimes.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't want to waste money being like this is not worth it.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: Which happens a lot.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_00]: But here I have my order dialed.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: in your kind of like on the sidewalk, having great food, the weight staff is very Midwestern.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: There is a waiter who, there was like, I think like a tree stump or something.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: There was something that they tripped over.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: And they tripped over whatever this was next to our table and then they apologized to me.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, did you just apologize to me for you tripping?
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: And they were like, yeah, and I was like, I've never felt more home anywhere at all I?
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: And they mentioned it to someone who works there and they're like, oh, yeah, we have like four minisotans.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like that makes sense.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like all I want is just like really friendly waiters and like a really tasty non alcohol like drink the alpine spritz is so good.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_00]: It tastes like traveling, but you're in LA.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_00]: And if you want to drink, they have a tiny martini.
- 38:30[SPEAKER_00]: So you just want a little bit of alcohol, best of both worlds.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: If you go, highly recommend to chicken, fantastic.
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: The steak also really great.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: The Caesar salad has croissant crootons, croissant crootons.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_00]: I also had another salad last time.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_00]: That was like beans and blue cheese.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: And it gave me a tummy ache, but it was so worth it.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you're not gonna get a tummy ache, it's because my tummy stuff.
- 38:50[SPEAKER_00]: Their French fries are fantastic.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: What else?
- 38:53[SPEAKER_00]: The bread with like a Jimmy No Dello butter.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, it's just really great.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: And then the manellins for dessert, the ceiling was sort of had it like three or four times.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_00]: Great, great, great, great.
- 39:03[SPEAKER_00]: Last but not least, oh, something I've really been out on the boat, but I want to talk to you about Okay, so I went to a Wrangler party and it's so hilarious to me because I had the time in my life as I always do the Wrangler event Shout out to the person who invites me to these.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very grateful But it's hilarious because I'm never I'm never like out in the world Presenting myself as an influencer, but then sometimes I will attend things where I'm like, oh, I this.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: I guess I am and I am with other ones
- 39:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't want to like calm myself old, but I see people go to stuff like this every night And I don't know how they have this stamina a lot of people go to these events every night And I'm shocked by it because okay, there's also what I've learned from like a few friends who are kind of like in this sphere is that there's like Okay, I don't love people know this there is this secret like underground economy of people who get paid to go to parties
- 39:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I don't know if anyone was paid to go to this one.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_00]: I was not.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, you're gonna give me pants if I show up.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like jeans from a brand that I love and you're gonna like, have me come hang out and you're gonna give me a taco if I'm hungry.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I will be there.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_00]: But like, people could pay to go to these parties, which I don't think is, it's not really like disclosed.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, they'll be like, oh, I'm in brand, like this brand's party and like, I don't think,
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: Are all those people paid?
- 40:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think people are being sent Uber gift cards all this time to like get their back But I think people are like paid to go to events and I don't think I'm gonna nose that again I don't know if people get paid to go to the Wrangler one.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to get in trouble.
- 40:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_00]: I was not
- 40:38[SPEAKER_00]: that people get paid.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: I once only once have gotten paid and I don't even think we talked about this.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_00]: I did a partnership with Dole for, oh gosh, there was a real Google Looney made it phrased it.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_00]: Dole packaged, frozen product.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: It was like remember they were selling the Dolewamp and like the individual cups, which I loved by the way that mango one.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I did a partnership with them and part of the partnership was that they paid me to like an appearance like they paid like part of the deal was like I had to go to the party and post in the party like they paid me with the party and so that kind of made my brain go away if I'm getting me to go here is everyone can pay to be this dull party and I overheard some people say they work like a whole party is people not who like attended like people who are paid so sort of appearance fee is not crazy.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just excited to leave the house dude like also I don't go to anything that I'm not already a fan of and like my background is you know as a magazine person and like when you're in a magazine They really want you to come to events.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_00]: They want you to come out because they want you to do post about your stuff in the magazine or like write a story about it on the website me.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just me and like
- 41:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's just weird, like, oh, everyone's just here to be like, I'm here.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm associating with the brand and like, that's, I think people can pay for parties.
- 41:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that's crazy to me.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: I hope this is blowing your mind as much as it is me.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_00]: Even though I'm someone who has had it done to them, it still blows my mind.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_00]: I went to this party though and this is how wild this is how wild this party is you show up It's so cute.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_00]: There's live music everyone's adorable has like everyone's working there and like wearing full wringler like oh I love wringler And they're basically like dressing rooms and racks of adorable clothes and this is I mean It sounds like a fever dream But you show up and you try stuff on and they're like pick out three things you like come to the desk tell us what they are and we'll mail it to you
- 42:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I, you know, I'm going, I think a lot of this is intended to be going to a festival.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: Stage coach probably specifically Coachella stuff like that.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: We aren't in California.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: Those festivals are near us and a lot of people go.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: I obviously, if I'm standing out in the boiling sun, Mickey Mouse is going to be within 50 yards of me.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm not, I'm not going to Coachella, okay?
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't go to Coachella for Bob Baker, Mary and Ed, so that's the only artist I would ever go to see there.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: Count me out.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: Ben goes alone.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: He goes for the day drives back.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_00]: If he has to go to Coachella or stage coach to see someone.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not there.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_00]: I my body cannot handle the heat like that.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_00]: I am an old woman.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: I was literally Googling how to put a camel back bladder into a bagu bag to be in Florida this summer.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm I can't okay.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I don't have it in me.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_00]: But I am going to Dallywood.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_00]: I am going to Dallywood as much as the crazy TSA lines want to keep me from it.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_00]: I am determined to go to Dallywood.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_00]: We have it planned for next month.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_00]: It is going to happen.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_00]: But I went and I think everyone's getting like cutie little others or festivals.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm getting cutie little out if it's like walk uphill to go on a roller coaster.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm so excited with what I got.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_00]: I posted a video, but I got the patterned, like patterned vest in shorts.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: There was a cute little like, oh, like, oh, oh, oh, oh, a little denim vest in skirts, which was so cute.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: But it was like very going out.
- 43:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of need something that I can be in maybe during the day without like the shadow of night covering me.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_00]: So I got the little shorts.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_00]: And like those I can wear said that little denim mini skirt, I can't wear by itself.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like I bend over my whole butts out.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_00]: because I like to wear things really high up.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can wear lower easily, but I like to wear things in my under-rib natural ways, so it's just a little short on me, but I got the shorts and the vest, and then I got, you're ready for this, white bell bottoms.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, white bell bottoms, the perfect item to wear an adult trip.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, we're going out.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's for my white belly, my belly bottoms, white bell bottoms.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so excited.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_00]: I might actually buy the denim set.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_00]: I might end up buying the other Wrangler set,
- 44:25[SPEAKER_00]: good.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm trying to not get anything that's too dolly specific.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like to buy things specifically for an occasion.
- 44:32[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like to buy a dress to go to a certain wedding.
- 44:35[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like to, oh, I'm going on vacation.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_00]: I have to buy new clothes.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_00]: I want my clothes to just be in my closet year round.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_00]: And if the weather permits, I wear them.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_00]: So having these jeans is going to be fantastic.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_00]: We did all buy one t-shirt,
- 44:47[SPEAKER_00]: Collectively among the group that we're gonna wear to Hollywood, but otherwise like, oh, it's just such a lovely night I went straight from working out It's like changing there to go into a party, which made me feel like it was 2018 all over again.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was really nice.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was really nice Thank you, Wrangler for having me.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_00]: I was not paid to say that.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_00]: I was not paid to now I have to disclose like I was not but like the next time you scroll your feet and you see someone at a party just keep that in the back of your mind
- 45:10[SPEAKER_00]: In the wild, as wild, I think that's mostly everything.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: The only other, I don't know they have much coming up besides Dollywood, but I am, I am going to be covering universal fan fast.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: We have not talked about this much on the podcast.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't cover it last year, and honestly, I'm not sure what capacity we're going to cover it in this year, because I basically kept telling my PR contact universal, I think, like, listen, this is just a,
- 45:38[SPEAKER_00]: This will be a clue into how honest I am with my work context, okay, because they kept being like we have this really exciting new event and I kept being like not interested I cover theme parks like I can't I can't be I can't help myself and being honest okay, but I just kept being like it's not for me It's not authentic to me and not for me.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to go
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: Um, last year's was like, back to the future, uh, I think some other maybe a Pokemon stuff like that.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, none of these properties interest me.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: And so I didn't go.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: I missed.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think I was on a tell in the first night and I could have gone any other night.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, I'm good.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's not authentic to me.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not interested.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_00]: So it rolled back around and we talked about it more and I'm kind of like, okay, the more I hear about it, the more I'm like, maybe I should at least be boots on the ground to see what it is.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: because while the fandoms and the activations are not my go-to, I don't know what one piece is, and I'm okay not knowing going forward.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_00]: But what I was told is that it's kind of like, the whole park feels like Halloween horror nights, but without a scary vibe, and that interests me.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_00]: It has, it seems like it might have this like party at the mall after hours vibes, like,
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: You can work costumes, you can dress up, you can represent your fandom, which is something I'm very into.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_00]: And it kind of feels like, I don't know, it just feels a little to me.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_00]: The way I'm thinking in my brain, if it feels like this, then I will go back every year.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: But even if it doesn't, I will never go back.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_00]: But if feels a little like, you know the way a school gym transforms for a dance on a Friday night when you're in seventh grade, that's what I think this is going to feel like.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to see that, what it's like to be walking around, like among the fan filled crowds, I want to see that.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_00]: when I go to it.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_00]: So we are going to see it.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_00]: I, and while again, JK Rowling is the devil in current, we do not respect JK Rowling.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_00]: There is a very interesting wizarding world of Harry Potter experience.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_00]: I was tipped about that I'm going to have to see firsthand.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it's public yet.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't want to say anything, but it seems very, very, very cool and it debuts April 23rd as part of the event.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_00]: Um, they're gonna have Sailor Moon this year.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_00]: Um, again, one piece.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_00]: But I also am kind of like interested to go being like, I don't care about these, wow, like, wow me event.
- 47:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I'm hoping it might.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping it might.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_00]: They also have Scooby-Doo, which, at this point, is gonna be the closest we're gonna get to a Sarah Michelle Geller project in the flesh, because I'm still mad.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't green light, Buffy.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_00]: Still mad about it.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_00]: But I will come back and let you know.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_00]: Their food is a big component to it.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_00]: So I am gonna go to a food tasting.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: Again, you know, I don't like temporary food, but I'm trying to go into the open mind.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to see what this is, since I fully shut it down last year, and I should at least know what it is, because it seems like they're going to be bringing this back.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_00]: I have gotten questions about it, so I'm going to do my job.
- 48:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to do my job, and I've let you know how it is, and hopefully it's cool.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_00]: But really, like, ooh, after hours of all vibe, right?
- 48:30[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, like, going down the star way, and like, people being dressed up, but it's not scary.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_00]: On the escalator, imagine like people in costumes, but it's not boo.
- 48:38[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, fun!
- 48:39[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, that's basically what I'm into.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_00]: Moving on to the tireless pursuit of feeling good all the time.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not feeling good.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_00]: We don't have to get into it.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_00]: But basically like, there is this line that happens when you get a little older, where
- 48:53[SPEAKER_00]: For a long time in your life, you take antibiotics and they make you feel better and then you hit an age where you take antibiotics and they make you feel better and also worse because they destroy your stomach and I had to go on them like two, three months ago, it was just like, I had poke up getting six then I had something where I felt fine but it was like I just needed to blast the rest out.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I have to go this antibiotic and it destroyed me from the inside out.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_00]: I have been going to my doctor at the hospital a lot lately.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's just to work into the bottom of it.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_00]: We don't really know what's going on.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, we don't think it's anything dire, but I would really love to eat a piece of bread without being concerned that I will be sick for a day.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: So we will see what happens.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_00]: But boy, boy, am I on the cottage cheese train again?
- 49:36[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, I mean, this cottage cheese egg thing?
- 49:38[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 49:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm keeping like, for some reason my stomach is mostly okay with cottage cheese, yogurt is on no right now.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_00]: Cottage cheese, I can like, I can tolerate it without getting too bad of a tummy ache, but I have that with berries and truly Elizabeth Guherranolla and then bought a really good honey, which is really nice on there.
- 49:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's a honey.
- 49:55[SPEAKER_00]: Does honey find for you?
- 49:56[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like I don't know if you follow glucose goddess, but sometimes you like hear these things pop up about women's health and you're like, what?
- 50:04[SPEAKER_00]: No, what do you told me that?
- 50:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like, um, I've told my mom this because she loves orange juice.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like orange juice is so bad for you on an empty stomach.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like bad.
- 50:11[SPEAKER_00]: Because it like spikes your glucose and that's like really bad for your body.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's just health-wise.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_00]: It like, oh, like your body's like trying to process it too quickly.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_00]: But there's this woman with an incredible accent.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_00]: Jesse is shopping and she talks about glucose, follow glucose goddess, fascinating stuff.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_00]: A little fear of Hungary, but also like science like was not aware of, like if you freeze bread and then eat it, it's easier to digest.
- 50:34[SPEAKER_00]: Stuff where you're like, what?
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: But she understands science.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think she's like a molecular biologist.
- 50:39[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, but she's so chic.
- 50:40[SPEAKER_00]: And she's wearing like little mumeo outfits, and she's teaching your science.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's basically like my,
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: My version of like a children science show, but it's like a chic woman being like here's how to digest the food you love better And that's all I'm interested in and just want to eat all day every day all the things I like she's very helpful for that I have to see if she posted about honey though because like I don't know glucose wise.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know I have so much to learn about glucose anyway my body mine I multiple things going on It's hard.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_00]: It takes me an abnormally long time to digest food out of nowhere.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: I've never had this problem before Just kind of happened.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know why so eating certain things like
- 51:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, like if I had carrot sticks and hummus, it would, I'd be out for the count.
- 51:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like I wouldn't be able to move, I'd be in pain.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm trying to like keep a baseline of foods that I know I can eat.
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, I'm never going to give up popcorn or coffee, and if they tell me too, I will just deal with it.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_00]: It has all been okay.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_00]: I started a homeopathic supplement, which I don't think has done anything.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I did recently, so when I was on the cruise, I was pretty careful.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_00]: I did mess around a little.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_00]: I had some soft serve.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_00]: I was having some fun.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_00]: And I felt mostly okay.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't feel great, but I didn't feel as bad as I did on the cruise last year, which was really the first time I was like, okay, we got to start seeing a doctor.
- 51:53[SPEAKER_00]: I've been dealing with this for a year.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: I know.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, I came home and was like, I feel pretty good on the cruise.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's over.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_00]: Like maybe I'm fine.
- 52:01[SPEAKER_00]: And so I spent two days just eating whatever I wanted.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_00]: I went out to a dinner with Ben.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_00]: I had like a whole bowl of pasta.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_00]: It was so good.
- 52:09[SPEAKER_00]: We went to this place south place and I don't like pasta.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, don't hang up.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like pasta.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's a thing.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_00]: I just find it usually boring.
- 52:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like to have the same.
- 52:16[SPEAKER_00]: Can you tell I'm neurodivergent?
- 52:18[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like to have the same bite over and over.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_00]: My dream restaurant would be pasta bus.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_00]: A place?
- 52:24[SPEAKER_00]: where you have like six different types of pastas and you have like five bites of each you're just going to try every flavor I would love that.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_00]: This pasta was insane.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_00]: Truly like I was eating it being like I know I know my body probably can't process this but I'm not giving the plate back.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: I ate the whole thing I go was like I don't the future meals deal with it and I truly like it did not digest it was like all the way up to my chin like not really funny but you know we live and learn it thought maybe I was okay and I wasn't it's fine.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but again, they will take popcorn and coffee for me.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm literally drinking my third coffee.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: Um, they will pry it from my cold frozen hands.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_00]: And that's all I'm going to say.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I hate drinking water.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's not news.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, it's almost summer.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm worried for all of us who don't like to be hydrated, especially when, uh, again, I love caffeine.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_00]: But I body-wise, yeah, things aren't great, and it's fine.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I also, like,
- 53:15[SPEAKER_00]: I guess I'm teetering on the edge of like needing to take care of myself because I'm like I don't want water I only want coffee and I don't want to sleep and that's really where I'm at mentally like I came back from the cruise And the next weekend was pearls big birthday.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_00]: It was her birthday.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_00]: It was her birthday.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_00]: It was her birthday party Just like making up for last time and being like solo parenting for four days We had whole family in town and so I
- 53:41[SPEAKER_00]: In a method to like find quiet and like alone time in a busy house, I did this thing that I invented where I stayed up very, very late.
- 53:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I know it was not smart, but I basically was like, I'm going to stay up as late as I can and get as much time as I can.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_00]: And until I fall over sleep and I'm going to do this as many nights in a row until I can do it one more and I did it for three or four nights.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_00]: I called it fourth shift because basically it's like, first shift is like waking up, getting everyone ready until their school or their child care.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_00]: Then second shift is work.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_00]: third shift to anyone without kids like I've been totally fine, like you're having a kid totally chill, and then third shift is five or six or four, 30, whenever like the child care school ends up until bedtime and then fourth shift is like after you finish all your nighttime stuff that until bedtime and so fourth shift I just extended fourth shift all the way till about two AM and here's the thing burning the candle at both ends is a terrible idea
- 54:43[SPEAKER_00]: But like, there's something to be said about drinking a magic liquid that keeps you awake and helps you get things done.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: Because I got everything done, guys.
- 54:53[SPEAKER_00]: I got everything done.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_00]: Like Ben would go to bed.
- 54:55[SPEAKER_00]: The house was quiet.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_00]: I would just take my iPad, take my laptop, put my little headphones, go to the living room.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_00]: I would watch a few episodes of Will Trent, which by the way, great show.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'd finish all my little tasks, all my little email tasks, all my little tasks tasks, and just I got...
- 55:11[SPEAKER_00]: Everything done.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_00]: Was I tired?
- 55:14[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you bet did I crash?
- 55:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I did but it was the thing that got me through and you know what sometimes you have to bend all the rules and not sleep to make it happen And if you love sleep, don't worry about it.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is not for you.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_00]: But if you don't Fourth shift not bad
- 55:32[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't need to keep talking to you about how much I love coffee, but I do, I love it so much.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_00]: Um, there's a million skin care things we have to get into.
- 55:39[SPEAKER_00]: We'll do that next month because I know the Sephora sales come in and I'm not buying anything if I know it's going to be on sale, but I guess that brings us to stuff I'm currently obsessed with and I gotta tell you, I have a uniform now.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 55:50[SPEAKER_00]: I have a uniform.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_00]: Years ago I listened to this podcast from this like a efficient woman who's like every day I wake up I put on my track suit.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_00]: I go out and get coffee.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to think about what I'm wearing.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm wearing my track suit And I was so intrigued and like, oh amazing, but that would never be me I found my daily uniform.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to hear what it is?
- 56:08[SPEAKER_00]: So when I drop pearl off like when I basically I you have days which some people who all so probably work from home feel the same You have days where like you leave the house.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_00]: You got to be wearing pants.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_00]: You got to be like wearing real clothes When I'm at home, I'm not wearing real clothes when I'm in my neighborhood.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just hanging out
- 56:24[SPEAKER_00]: I have a uniform and it is my quince shorts, which you know I love that's not hyperbole That's not hyperbole.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_00]: I love those shorts.
- 56:32[SPEAKER_00]: I just bought more of them.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm an I actually purchased Then yes, I do.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_00]: I love them Quince shorts and then I started cutting off all of my big t-shirts because I had big t-shirt with shorts And then I saw an Instagram post that was like making fun of moms who wear that and I was like But ain't like wearing this, but then I also didn't like the shirt was too long sometimes And I kind of thought like I was just like
- 56:52[SPEAKER_00]: a cloud.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_00]: I was just existing like, bro, like an amoeba in space and so I cut the shirts to like just like right where the shorts are and I've never felt more free and comfortable in my life.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like something about dressing like a 22 year old modern dancer just like makes me feel like my feet are rooted in the ground.
- 57:09[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel so correct.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_00]: And so now I have four or five shirts in rotation.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_00]: I wear that, sports bra, quince shorts, bun socks, sneakers.
- 57:18[SPEAKER_00]: Boom!
- 57:19[SPEAKER_00]: That is my look.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm telling you right now, I'm warning you.
- 57:24[SPEAKER_00]: If you think I'm going to be showing up in Disney World this summer into cutie little outfits, it's not happening.
- 57:29[SPEAKER_00]: I will be wearing my quince shorts.
- 57:31[SPEAKER_00]: And a little cotton t-shirt and that's it because it is too hot.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: It is too hot and I'm gonna wear it And like, sure thing, what is the point of trying to get dressed like in winter?
- 57:40[SPEAKER_00]: It you're holding like your fun little outfit that you want like you put on.
- 57:43[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, I feel good in this.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be covered by a coat spring.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna put on your outfit and say, I feel good in this and you're either gonna be too hot in it Or it's gonna be like cold.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_00]: You need to put a jacket over ruins the point and summer.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to try in summer
- 57:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just gonna sweat through everything, so why don't I wear clothes that are meant to be sweatin' and I know that's not like that, oh not revolutionary, but I'm not a pop flex girlie.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, how I wish I was?
- 58:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I wish I looked so cute in those little skirts, everybody looks so cute in those little fitness skirts,
- 58:10[SPEAKER_00]: everyone looks amazing.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not me.
- 58:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not me and I wish it was because everyone looks so cool and so good.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, all roads for me lead back to camp counselor.
- 58:21[SPEAKER_00]: I, as long as I literally walked into a workout class and the instructor, because I'm like, always, I'm like, always in the front.
- 58:26[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be in the front.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be in the front.
- 58:27[SPEAKER_00]: I got to be in the front.
- 58:28[SPEAKER_00]: I can't focus.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's a whole listen.
- 58:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you know me.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_00]: I got into my world class.
- 58:32[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh, he looked like a 70s camp counselor.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, that is what I've been going for.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's the dream.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_00]: It's the dream.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_00]: And so that is just what I'm going to be wearing all summer.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just like to be.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is so embarrassing guys.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_00]: I like to be in clothing where I'm like,
- 58:50[SPEAKER_00]: If you, if you need me to run, I'm good.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like if a dog gets loose from a leash, I'm gone.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's what I want my clothes to provide me.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_00]: And while I'm not like an adventurous person, I'm, I don't really, I'm not like hiking the t-tons.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know where the t-tons are because I'm a little stupid.
- 59:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm, I want to be like, boom, like ready, boom, like ready to move.
- 59:09[SPEAKER_00]: Ready to move, ready to move, ready to move, ready to move, drop to the ground to grab something.
- 59:12[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be ready.
- 59:13[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want my clothes to restrict me, and ideally, when I put on clothes that I feel happy with, it feels like I'm wearing nothing at all.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_00]: That is the goal when I get dressed.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to look cute.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to look any certain way.
- 59:23[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to put clothes on and be like everything fits and everything feels good and I don't have to think about it.
- 59:28[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm not thinking about when I'm wearing, I am happiest.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_00]: That is like, for me, that is the gold standard.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_00]: When I put on this outfit, I am so happy.
- 59:37[SPEAKER_00]: So get ready to see me wear the exact same thing for the next six months.
- 59:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm totally fine with it.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't joking about the camel back in a baguette thing.
- 59:44[SPEAKER_00]: I will be experimenting with that.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I just bought a fan to clip on my bag.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm kind of like, I love my, I usually wear my stony clover lane fanty pack, but I think I need a bigger bag, I need the baguette for the bladder, for the, to carry the platter is what you call, like a hydration backpack water sack.
- 59:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's what that's called.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, okay, before we go,
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about TV.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about TV because there is so much good TV happening right now that people are not really discussing.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_00]: I finished Stumble.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_00]: If you haven't watched Stumble, it took a few to maybe like five or six episodes to really start coming together.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, they did it.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_00]: The end of the season is 13 episodes, which concerns me.
- 1:00:20[SPEAKER_00]: I want them to get renewed.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they will.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_00]: I really hope they do.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_00]: I love this show.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_00]: Bye, the end finale incredible.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_00]: incredible.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_00]: Like the show, if it feels slow with the beginning and you're like, I don't really know this for me.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_00]: Just keep watching.
- 1:00:33[SPEAKER_00]: Just keep watching.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_00]: It comes together so well.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and obviously watching ghosts.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, watching little trends which I mentioned.
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: What else am I watching?
- 1:00:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm always watching Amin Elementary, um, else Beth, even though I don't like knowing the crime at the beginning, I know that's the format of the show.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like it.
- 1:00:50[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I'm watching Matlock.
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 1:00:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_00]: They're just, it's a cold-disact show.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: They aren't just talking themselves in circles.
- 1:00:56[SPEAKER_00]: Nothing's really happening.
- 1:00:58[SPEAKER_00]: But, I mean, Jason Redder on screen, I will watch any time.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just, um, if the show is like not fully jailed, but, uh,
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_00]: I'm still gonna watch it anyway because the toy on my got to finish High potential obviously I'm also kind of obsessed with the high potential outfit lately I think we're supposed to look at her and be like She dresses so wacky she can't wear that to work, but I love her wardrobe like a patterned mini skirt with like bright Neh high boots and a fun top.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_00]: It looks fun
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: I really like that.
- 1:01:28[SPEAKER_00]: I really like that.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_00]: Ben and I, I think I've talked about this before.
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_00]: Ben and I don't have any shows that we both watch together really.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_00]: We have completely different tastes in television.
- 1:01:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not watching industry.
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sitting down for love story.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_00]: I get like enough of it through the ether.
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_00]: I don't.
- 1:01:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't need it.
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_00]: But we both kind of watch paradise loved season one of paradise season two.
- 1:01:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's I can recognize that the show is really good, but it's not exactly what I look forward to watching at like 8 p.m. at the end of the day.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_00]: So we've been watching it together.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_00]: Not I like I like a comedy.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_00]: I like a comedy.
- 1:02:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's just how I am.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't love a drama.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: But um, hot off of presses because it just came out.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_00]: If you are not watching the new season of jury duty,
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_00]: Stop listening to my podcast and go to I think it's on Amazon Prime.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_00]: Go watch the new season of jury duty Okay, it's jury duty corporate retreat.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how they struck gold twice.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_00]: It is so good And if you have never seen the first season of jury duty, it is so Good
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_00]: It is an exceptional piece of television.
- 1:02:29[SPEAKER_00]: I like truly can't get over it, and this season is a little more scripted, which I actually like because it feels more like a TV show.
- 1:02:38[SPEAKER_00]: It kind of feels like you're watching that episode of the office where they go on the retreat.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_00]: And then like Pam like runs on the colds and kind of feels like that, but quote unquote, not really reality.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: It is it is fantastic.
- 1:02:52[SPEAKER_00]: There are three episodes out now, but the time you listen to is there might be four.
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_00]: It is so good and there are so many bones references that it just makes me so happy.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, obviously watching bones.
- 1:03:01[SPEAKER_00]: I started rewatching Superstore again season three of Superstore.
- 1:03:04[SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, oh, they are firing on all cylinders.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_00]: It is so solid.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_00]: And then, um, same tennis obviously, same tennis medical I'm watching, but the thing is, I always forget the shows I watched the moment they come out, I always forget because I'm like, ah, it's here.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_00]: And then it's like out of my whoo homepage.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_00]: New scrubs, still fantastic, loving it.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_00]: Took a break from old scrubs because it was like too much to watch new and old at the same time for me.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, what else am I doing?
- 1:03:28[SPEAKER_00]: Listening to Amy Polar's podcast, it's good.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_00]: It owns me.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's good.
- 1:03:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's really good.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like better than I expected.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's really good.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really, really enjoy it.
- 1:03:36[SPEAKER_00]: And the only other thing I'm obsessed with right now is my new stony clover lane jacket.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: that okay so like I don't know why there isn't more fan fair about this jacket maybe that's my job right now but that's jacket just like appeared I saw someone screenshot a photo and put it on threads and I was like what is that jacket I literally texted Kendall it was like what is this jacket it's also unlike they posted anything on the Sony clover stories or feed it was just there and that was it but it's on their site comes in red and it comes in navy and it's a little quilted jacket
- 1:04:07[SPEAKER_00]: And the pockets in the front are Mickey-shaped.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_00]: And it snaps not buttons.
- 1:04:11[SPEAKER_00]: My hands don't like to do buttons.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_00]: I have old hands.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_00]: They're tired.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_00]: They're tired from typing on my phone.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:04:16[SPEAKER_00]: Cap cut.
- 1:04:17[SPEAKER_00]: With these small thumbs on a phone.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_00]: I can't, closing a button is a nightmare for me.
- 1:04:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very tense in my hands.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_00]: So it has snaps in the snaps are Mickey-shaped.
- 1:04:25[SPEAKER_00]: But then even more than that, they have a collar, which you can pay extra to get embroidered or chain stitched or whatever the heck it's called.
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_00]: And so I now have this Mickey Mouse jacket that fits so well.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's like just thick enough for a night at Disneyland before it really gets cold out.
- 1:04:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, I got the small medium and it fits like
- 1:04:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like a like a like a medium like there's I'm usually a medium, but there's like a little room to wear like a little light sweatshirt or something under It's so good and then I got my name on it.
- 1:04:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, so Beautiful and it did cost you know not nothing.
- 1:04:57[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't investment to me But I think it's really hard to find for me Disney pieces that I'm like.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_00]: I know I'm gonna wear this for 10 years and I know I'm going to wear this jacket
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_00]: constantly.
- 1:05:10[SPEAKER_00]: I have nothing else like it.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's so, it's so stylish and it has my name on it which feels like a really nice, like mouse guitar reference.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_00]: I can't recommend it enough.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's like in my story highlights or whatever.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's so good.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_00]: It's so good.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_00]: So if you're on the fence,
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I got a medium, it definitely says small medium, but it's like an oversized for small.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like a bit like to like a medium plus, maybe medium medium plus, but you want something under.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_00]: So it's maybe a medium because it's a jacket because you want to fit something under.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's wonderful.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_00]: If you get it, I can't wait to twin with you at the parks.
- 1:05:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm so excited.
- 1:05:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just like, I needed to be a little closer, so I can wear it.
- 1:05:44[UNKNOWN]: I need to be a little closer to wear it.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and that was our gap session.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you enjoyed.
- 1:05:48[SPEAKER_00]: I have had so much coffee that I maybe need to sit down or record this standing isn't that fun.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_00]: I just always, I don't know.
- 1:05:56[SPEAKER_00]: When I sit, I feel like I've less energy.
- 1:05:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think the secret to life when you have a brain that works like minus to stand.
- 1:06:01[SPEAKER_00]: I also like, um, sorry, you can't see what I'm seeing.
- 1:06:05[SPEAKER_00]: I like reorganize some books in my office because I got rid of some.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_00]: And there's like, there's one where it's like a pink or red and then like a reddish orange and then an orange and it's very pleasing to look at and I'm quite enjoying it.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_00]: And that's all.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_00]: I, if I don't leave now, I will never stop talking.
- 1:06:18[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, love you.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: I will see you soon.
- 1:06:19[SPEAKER_00]: The church calls really fun to stick around for that.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_00]: And yes.
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_00]: See you next week.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, next week's a fun one.
- 1:06:25[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, get excited for next week.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be good.
- 1:06:43[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, Carly, this is Rachel from humexico.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_03]: I am also popcorn themed.
- 1:06:48[SPEAKER_03]: And I've been thinking a lot about what you said about the popcorn being off lately at Disney World.
- 1:06:53[SPEAKER_03]: So I've been eating a lot of popcorn recently.
- 1:06:55[SPEAKER_03]: I did say, well, you know, for research.
- 1:06:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I, every, a lot of inconsistency, so during this trip that I've been here, a lot of underbutter popcorn, and then I had like one experience with a stand that's over by Mickey Minnes where it was so,
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_03]: over-salted, um, this is the Hollywood video, and it was so resulted that I actually had to like throw it out, like it almost hit to the poisonous, and like that's the first time I've ever thrown a popcorn maybe in my life.
- 1:07:23[SPEAKER_03]: So that was the first button on the flip side.
- 1:07:26[SPEAKER_03]: I've had perfect, absolutely perfect butter popcorn, um, so buttery, so nice, uh, at the stand as over by creations in Epcot, and then also your favorite stand for one by the hub and magic kingdom.
- 1:07:39[SPEAKER_03]: And so that
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_03]: Do you have a favorite go-to popcorn stand in each of the four parks where you're like, this is the best stand in that park, and also, at Disneyland as well, I'd be curious to know from your very expert popcorn opinion.
- 1:07:56[SPEAKER_03]: Bye-bye.
- 1:07:57[SPEAKER_00]: Woo!
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_00]: I love a popcorn call.
- 1:07:59[SPEAKER_00]: I love a popcorn call and I love that we are all collectively eating popcorn for research.
- 1:08:04[SPEAKER_00]: They think science is happening and living with the land?
- 1:08:07[SPEAKER_00]: Nah, dude, it's us right here eating our way through the different popcorn stands to figure out which one is the best.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I want to flag, your call came from mid-March, and frankly, I am shocked because when I was there in early February, the weather was whack-a-do.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_00]: It made a lot of sense to me because the mix that they use for popcorn is typically coconut oil-based.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm almost entirely sure that's the one they use there too.
- 1:08:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's like what all popcorn in an industrial way is made from when you like go to a popcorn maker.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the bag and it has like the flavor called et cetera.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, coconut oil, you know, kind of changes consistencies when it's very cold, depending to warm, when it's warm, it starts more liquidy, starts softer.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I figured it was the cold that was affecting it.
- 1:08:45[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're calling for midmarch and it's not like cold cold cold there, interesting.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting data set.
- 1:08:51[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very sorry to hear about your over-salt in one.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_00]: I have and I don't really want to admit this on Main, but we're going to because we're discussing it and I know that you guys know me and I'm not someone who likes to cause trouble But I have Exchange popcorn before I have I don't know if I've talked about it, but I have I didn't want when we got the one at FCO because my mom kept eating it, but when I've gotten myself popcorn And Mostly if it's burnt
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_00]: If it's burnt, I will go to a different stall and be like, I'm so sorry.
- 1:09:19[SPEAKER_00]: I got it from another one.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_00]: They burnt it over there.
- 1:09:22[SPEAKER_00]: Could I just get one and I'll throw this out in front of you?
- 1:09:24[SPEAKER_00]: And they're usually very cool about it.
- 1:09:25[SPEAKER_00]: But that rarely happens because usually the popcorn is pretty consistent.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_00]: And this is the second layer of, wow, because you mentioned that you're, also like, looking me remembering facts from this call.
- 1:09:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so proud of myself.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_00]: You mentioned that your favorite at Epcot was the stand-by creations.
- 1:09:42[SPEAKER_00]: That was the worst popcorn I've ever had in my life.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_00]: That one time I've gotten it there before and it's been great.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_00]: That was the popcorn I got that I talked about where I was like, I'm not eating this.
- 1:09:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's so dry.
- 1:09:53[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what went wrong.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_00]: That said, I did get a call a few months ago about my favorite popcorn stands at Disneyland and since then I have been doing additional research.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_00]: So I do have the list of my go to popcorn stands for you that hopefully, hopefully this will lead you in the right direction on your
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_00]: popcorn and biving journey going forward.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_00]: So here's my hit list of popcorn locations.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_00]: And keep in mind, I'm never going to turn down a popcorn.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_00]: But this is where more often than not, my legs just kind of take me towards when I am in the mood for popcorn.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_00]: Starting with Disney World, as you know, as you mentioned in this call, Magic Kingdom, my mom swears by the popcorn vendor in the hub on the right hand side.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_00]: If you're facing the castle, that is also where I am
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_00]: If I don't get it there, sometimes I will get it on that little walkway, like in fantasy lands, like right is your going towards Dumbo, like right on the right hand side.
- 1:10:46[SPEAKER_00]: I have gotten it there, but something about getting it in the hub just just hits so hard.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like you get to the park, you get a job freeze, you walk back, you get your popcorn like, oh, that is a perfect
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_00]: Perfect data mean and Epcot.
- 1:11:00[SPEAKER_00]: I actually usually go to the popcorn stand over by journey into imagination I do feel like they open the popcorn stands a little later in the day at Epcot than I would prefer That may just be because I'm chronically dehydrated and I crave it for breakfast But I do feel like they open it 10 maybe like 11
- 1:11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a little later, maybe that's just a false memory.
- 1:11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't trust my brain because I can't remember anything typically, but I do feel like I always wanted for breakfast there and it's not open yet, but I've never had a bad one there and something about that stand just like, I don't know if it's because they used to have flavored popcorn, and we've lost so much in our lifetime because we've gotten the flavored popcorn.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_00]: These have, there was like, sour cream and onion.
- 1:11:40[SPEAKER_00]: There was a few other flavors and maybe that's why my body is drawn towards it, because it's like, I know you used to beat unique.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_00]: but that stand has not failed me.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like they are kind of firing at all cylinders.
- 1:11:50[SPEAKER_00]: They're they're always slinging ice cream and I think like pretzels and popcorn.
- 1:11:53[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot happening there.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's not just a popcorn location and I feel like because of that it's more like a working kitchen and there's more people involved in the popcorn is moving through more freshly.
- 1:12:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that is true, but that's just what my gut says.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm gonna go with it.
- 1:12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Also shout out, Epcot, the maple popcorn.
- 1:12:09[SPEAKER_00]: You know I love where there's caramel popcorn.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_00]: However,
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_00]: my mom has fully sold me and convinced me that the maple popcorn in Canada is excellent is worth going to Canada first for it is it is very good and when it comes out hot it is exceptional my mom is right she knew and I got to give her props because that popcorn is really one of my go-to's now as well.
- 1:12:30[SPEAKER_00]: I Disney's Hollywood Studios, a park I am infrequently at, we know this.
- 1:12:34[SPEAKER_00]: But if I'm getting popcorn, if I'm a Disney's Hollywood Studios getting popcorn, and if I'm getting popcorn, it's going to be the stand that's closest to the brown derby.
- 1:12:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know why.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just feel cosmically drawn to that one.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_00]: This feels a little more themed than some of the other popcorn locations, like I know the Toy Story, there's another thing all the way.
- 1:12:50[SPEAKER_00]: But like this one you walk in, you're like, oh, I'm traveling back in time and that vendor right there just feels like a little cherry on top of like walking all the way into the park and then boop, just enjoying your popcorn.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's just, oh, maybe it's the proximity to coffee, which is what speaks to me, but I just, I like that stand vest.
- 1:13:09[SPEAKER_00]: It just feels like 1992 going to that stand, I can't explain it, just a good feeling.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_00]: and it animal kingdom.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not often getting popcorn here.
- 1:13:17[SPEAKER_00]: I believe mitt.
- 1:13:18[SPEAKER_00]: But if I do, it's going to be the stand that's in Africa right where the walkway kind of like from Asia behind the tree meets up with the bridge walkway over into that land across where you get dull whips like that one I go to, but admittedly it's not my favorite.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_00]: It is hit or miss.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like they're working with a lower power machine there.
- 1:13:38[SPEAKER_00]: I, again, we're gonna just put the journalist hat on the coat rack for a minute because none of this is researched, okay, a caveat.
- 1:13:46[SPEAKER_00]: This is just one woman's hysterical rant about popcorn vending machines.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_00]: But I do feel like that one is more of like a... That machine doesn't feel as like heavy duty is like the one in the hub.
- 1:13:57[SPEAKER_00]: There's like a whole cart because that's more of like popcorn at a location.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know when I'm talking about any more, but it's just how I feel, okay?
- 1:14:04[SPEAKER_00]: It just feels a little different.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_00]: It feels a little different there.
- 1:14:06[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know, I also feel like someone told me something off the record about popcorn at that location that I can't repeat.
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm gonna stand behind the other words I said.
- 1:14:17[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it just feels different there.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, yeah, is there anywhere else that I usually get popcorn?
- 1:14:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, here's the other thing I want you to keep in mind.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_00]: Disney world has a more open, refillable bucket policy than Disney land.
- 1:14:29[SPEAKER_00]: It Disney world.
- 1:14:30[SPEAKER_00]: You can slap around a bucket and get refills no problem.
- 1:14:31[SPEAKER_00]: And if the popcorn's not good, if I'm spending like two bucks to 25 on it, it doesn't hurt that much.
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_00]: If I'm spending $1,000,000, $1,000,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1,000, $1
- 1:14:38[SPEAKER_00]: more than half of $10.
- 1:14:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 1:14:41[SPEAKER_00]: If it's like where we at now 650, 675, like if I'm spending over $6 on popcorn, I would like it to be good, please.
- 1:14:48[SPEAKER_00]: And so that's where Disney World, if you don't have a bucket, but especially Disneyland, it's really important that you do get a good batch of popcorn.
- 1:14:55[SPEAKER_00]: And Disneyland, mostly the issue they have is that it's under salted, it is rarely burned, but it can be like not have like the full hit of that like yellow flavor.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_00]: And we're generally speaking Disneyland does tend to do quite well.
- 1:15:10[SPEAKER_00]: Does tend to be very, very good.
- 1:15:12[SPEAKER_00]: Better than my experience in Disney World on this patch strip at a minimum.
- 1:15:16[SPEAKER_00]: And while I have discussed this a little bit before about Disneyland, I do think that I have confirmed that the stand over by it's a small world has never failed me and is now my go-to popcorn stand at Disneyland Resort.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_00]: I go there.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_00]: Here's my move.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I'm doing at Disneyland.
- 1:15:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm coming in on the Monterele, if I'm with Pearl.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting out into our land.
- 1:15:35[SPEAKER_00]: We're walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walk, walking.
- 1:15:37[SPEAKER_00]: Because she's like, I want to snack, I want to snack.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, we're going to get a snack.
- 1:15:40[SPEAKER_00]: We will go to the popcorn stand.
- 1:15:41[SPEAKER_00]: I will ask for one carton split into two, which you can do, which is amazing.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_00]: So each have her own carton, because she doesn't want to share, because she loves popcorn, because she is my clone.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so we will get popcorn.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_00]: And then we will get in line for small worlds.
- 1:15:52[SPEAKER_00]: And it's a great way to kill time, especially when the line was longer during the holidays.
- 1:15:57[SPEAKER_00]: When it was, it's a small world holiday.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_00]: So we go there.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_00]: I've got there a lot.
- 1:15:59[SPEAKER_00]: And the popcorn is always fantastic.
- 1:16:02[SPEAKER_00]: But if I met Disney California adventure, there is a popcorn stand there that I love and that is rising the rank rising up the ranks in my book.
- 1:16:10[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they want you to say that the Good Popcorn stand is the one to the left of the hub, the one over by Carthay Circle.
- 1:16:16[SPEAKER_00]: They want you to say that's the popcorn stand.
- 1:16:18[SPEAKER_00]: But no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:16:20[SPEAKER_00]: There is another one that I think is turning out the best popcorn at the park.
- 1:16:24[SPEAKER_00]: It is the one over just past sore in by the Pluto meet and greet, right?
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_00]: Before you're like about to transition, like you, oh, you see the grand california or about to walk past you walk past the bathrooms, you walk past sore in, you're on your way out, you see the plane, that one, that's my girl, that is the popcorn stand that I have relied on more often than not lately and has never disappointed.
- 1:16:45[SPEAKER_00]: If you don't eat popcorn, I apologize that you listened to all of this, but if you do, consider this my, you know, my elite VIP tips for how to never let popcorn fail you.
- 1:16:55[SPEAKER_00]: And if you do encounter any really good popcorn or really bad popcorn, please reach out on the terms outline to all of you.
- 1:17:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like some of you, some of you texts.
- 1:17:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to say you can send a text because I was getting too many texts and not enough calls and I was like, I can't air the text we need more calls.
- 1:17:08[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but yeah, I would, I would love to.
- 1:17:10[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to hear from
- 1:17:11[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for this!
- 1:17:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, oh, I'm going, oh, I'm just like, oh, when am I going to do something that I'm going to do soon?
- 1:17:16[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to get more popcorn.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_00]: Woo!
- 1:17:19[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for your call.
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think you all so much for listening to this gap session episode.
- 1:17:30[SPEAKER_00]: We have an interview next week.
