- 0:00The B -Side in boxing. B -Side shit. B -Side.
- 0:04B -Side. And the B -Side. You got a B -Side.
- 0:06The B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. B -Side. The B
- 0:10-Side thing. This is the B -Sides Boxing Podcast.
- 0:20Okay. Timer is running. Here we go. Boxing B
- 0:28-Sides. We are back to talk the fights. Joined
- 0:33by the one and only Saul Goodman and Josh. Happening
- 0:39back. Well, we don't have any MMA to talk this
- 0:46time. I'm sure you're both celebrating. If you
- 0:52want to hear the MMA chatter, go over to Ultimate
- 0:55FN Casuals. Wherever you're listening to this,
- 0:59You could find that as well. I think it's MMA's
- 1:02ultimate effing casuals. Had to add that SEO
- 1:08bit onto it. Let's get right into the news. Canelo
- 1:16Mbili has been postponed. What? Likely until
- 1:22October. Damn, Canelo really doesn't own... the
- 1:28September or May dates anymore. The fact that
- 1:31he got moved is actually crazy. To make room
- 1:34for Garcia Ben. That's even happening. That's
- 1:39what Ring Magazine says. Is that what Ring Magazine
- 1:46is saying? Is that Canelo got bumped? Yeah, got
- 1:50bumped to October to make room for Garcia Ben
- 1:53on September 12th. which is, Jesus Christ, what
- 2:03are we, what, that's crazy. Like, what's going
- 2:08on? You know what, man, I'm, what the fuck? I
- 2:18think this is part of Turkey's desire to broker
- 2:25peace amongst the promoters. Yeah. And so he's
- 2:30bumping Canelo off of a really important boxing
- 2:35date. And he's giving it up to Golden Boy and
- 2:43Zufa. To Ryan. Hey, if it works, it works, you
- 2:54know? We'll see what happens, but to give it
- 2:58to Ryan. It's pretty freaking funny. It's an
- 3:03interesting choice, to say the least. It makes
- 3:09me wonder, just when I think about the other
- 3:15possible fighters to take those important dates,
- 3:23does Ryan speak Spanish? I'm pretty sure he doesn't.
- 3:30No, I don't think so. And Connor Ben only speaks
- 3:33Turkish in addition to English, so... Not sure.
- 3:47We'll have to see. They'll probably stack it
- 3:52full of Mexicans, though. The undercard. Like,
- 3:56I'm sure... Yeah, they'll stack it full of Mexicans.
- 4:03I was going to say, who could they put on it?
- 4:07Because Benavidez is a main card headliner guy.
- 4:12It would be good to see him swoop in and take
- 4:17it. But, I don't know. I don't know. Who's his
- 4:28benefactor? Is he also a turkey action figure?
- 4:36Whose benefactor? Benavidez. Benavidez is currently
- 4:41turkey, but honestly, I think he's kind of closer
- 4:45to a free agent. It's like a turkey adjacent.
- 4:49Turkey adjacent is a good way to put it, I think.
- 4:54He's still tied to Samson. He seems happy there.
- 5:04Yeah. Shakur Stevenson wants to fight Gary Antoine
- 5:15Russell next. His words, he will bring the best
- 5:21out of me. Does guard duck Shakur? I think he
- 5:29does. Because you're telling me that Shakur wants
- 5:34him. GAR doesn't want him. Yeah, he made that
- 5:40pretty clear in his last post -fight interview.
- 5:43Yeah, but see, you're telling me that after that
- 5:44post -fight interview that he's going to want
- 5:46to duke it out with Shakur? I mean, I guess.
- 5:56I feel like it depends on who it's with. If it's
- 5:58with Zufa, fuck that. You're not getting paid.
- 6:01If it's with a Turkey event, yeah, you're going
- 6:03to get paid. It's worth giving it a go. Especially
- 6:08because with Shakur, there's zero risk of getting
- 6:10hurt. Well, you know what? I got to disagree.
- 6:16Teofimo looked fucked up that last time around.
- 6:19Alright, but I think Gar is better than Teofimo.
- 6:22At least his hand... His hands will be up to
- 6:25not get pasted like that. You're not wrong. And
- 6:29I don't think Shakur will be as motivated to
- 6:31provide that pasting. You're not wrong. Jaron
- 6:44Ennis is already in talks with Sebastian Fundora
- 6:50to unify titles. See, I'm... Oh, sorry. No, go
- 6:57ahead. I'm of the side that says that that's
- 7:03not going to happen. Nothing ever happens with
- 7:06Sebastian Fundora. I've had enough hope for the
- 7:09last few years that Fundora will fight a live
- 7:11body. It's been, what? I think it's been two
- 7:15years since he's gotten his belt, right? He's
- 7:18gotten his championship belt for two years, and
- 7:21who has he fought? Cordell Booker. Tzimzou twice.
- 7:26And Keith Thurman. And he said he's not going
- 7:32to fight Virgil. He's only going to fight guys
- 7:35in the PBC, within the PBC ranking. That's Spence.
- 7:44That's Charlo. So. Man, Prime Jermel. Prime Jermel
- 7:50would have been, this would have been cool with
- 7:52Prime Jermel, but. Hell yeah. We don't got Prime
- 7:55Dribble anymore. No. Oh, whatever. Honestly,
- 7:59Ennis, if there's anyone who can cross the river,
- 8:01like, cross the pond or cross the street, so
- 8:04to say, with Fundora, it would be Ennis. Ennis
- 8:08has been very PBC aligned in his career and very,
- 8:12you know, PBC has treated him pretty equitably
- 8:16and, like, dealt with him pretty cordially. Yeah,
- 8:19I mean, a lot of Paestaniones. Yeah, so I was
- 8:22going to say, I'm like, Especially, like, with
- 8:24Enes' now profile, where, like, excluding the
- 8:28matchroom debuff, his profile is actually getting
- 8:30there. You know, there would be... There's gonna
- 8:39be a point where his profile is enough just to
- 8:41cash Fundora out because, you know, Fundora is
- 8:45very clearly a guy that they're maneuvering towards
- 8:48a cash out. So you just have to be the guy that
- 8:51you can... be cashed out against. I don't see
- 8:55it going anywhere. I mean, I think this is the
- 8:58first time that they've had Fandora haven't been
- 9:01in talks with anybody outside of the PBC area.
- 9:04But... I'm not Virgil. Boots is PBC aligned for
- 9:10most of his career. Yeah, they had a good relationship
- 9:13with him. And it's still a good relationship.
- 9:16It was an amicable, like, yeah, you're leaving
- 9:18because most of 154 exists outside of PBC. Yeah.
- 9:22But, you know, I think this is mainly just like,
- 9:26let's explore our options. Our options are Fundora
- 9:29or Kelly. Let's try Fundora first because Kelly
- 9:33is, I feel like the hope for Kelly, A, it's in
- 9:37-house, but I feel like the hope for Kelly is
- 9:39that Virgil takes him out. So that way we have
- 9:41the undisputed unification in -house with Virgil.
- 9:44But that's not happening either. Josh Kelly is
- 9:46not going to fight Virgil. Well, it's not up
- 9:48to Kelly. Well, no, the reason I say that is
- 9:51because Josh, I'm sorry, I wrote that wrong.
- 9:55Virgil's not going to fight Josh Kelly because
- 9:57that's IBF rankings. And with the rehydration
- 10:02clause, Robert straight off said he's not fighting
- 10:05for the IBF. He can't. Virgil can't. I wasn't
- 10:10even going to make a joke. I couldn't even make
- 10:12a joke about like an allergy to belts. No, the
- 10:14rehydration does screw him there. Yeah. Oh, my
- 10:18God. Yeah, so I guess, again, Fandora's still
- 10:21the hardest belt to reach over and get. Kelly's
- 10:23always there for boots. I feel like it's going
- 10:28to be a good enough time between July and late
- 10:32in the year that they can... Kelly will end up
- 10:35working out with boots. Most, like, my... I thought
- 10:38he wasn't even going to fight Zayas. I thought
- 10:40it was going to go straight to Kelly, so... I
- 10:43feel like Kelly's... But, again, Kelly's always
- 10:45there. Yeah. So, I think it'll be Kelly late
- 10:48in the year, probably in the UK, or in Saudi
- 10:52Arabia on a Riyadh card. Yeah. Or maybe in America.
- 10:57I mean, they haven't really put boots on a Riyadh
- 10:59card. Yeah, you gotta see that there... Depends
- 11:04on how they're able to fill out those cards.
- 11:07I mean, they really don't have to do it. Yeah.
- 11:12I was gonna say, it just depends on how... I
- 11:15was gonna say the... There's a couple of those
- 11:17Riyadh cards that they struggle to fill out,
- 11:19so they move fights over to those ones. Yeah,
- 11:24I mean, that's true. But Boots is not really
- 11:26after what happened this weekend. We'll talk
- 11:29about it more right now, but he's not a co -main
- 11:32type of guy anymore. I don't think Boots cares
- 11:39that much about that in a way. He doesn't have
- 11:43an ego. He has an ego about the way he fights
- 11:50in the ring and how he perceives his opponents
- 11:54to be inferior, but he doesn't let that ego drip
- 11:58into fight negotiations. Yeah, that's true. Very
- 12:02easily, like, yeah, I'll trim the beard. Yeah,
- 12:05we'll do it here. Yeah, like, a lot of things.
- 12:09I'll be the B -side. Yeah, he'll be the B -side.
- 12:13You know why? Because he's confident in himself.
- 12:15Like, I think the only hardliner he has are the
- 12:18gloves I've seen from him. Yeah, because he's
- 12:22always worn the same gloves. He wears horsehair
- 12:25grants. Yeah. The horsehair grants. I think that's
- 12:29the only hardline I've seen in any negotiations.
- 12:31Otherwise, he's pretty easygoing. Especially,
- 12:34like, a prospect of his talent would probably
- 12:37not be very happy about being on Showbox for
- 12:40that long. Hmm. Or fighting guys like Stanionis
- 12:45or Lipinets for rankings. Like, you'd want to
- 12:48skip the line if you know what you are. But...
- 12:53Boots has had a very slow build -up. But the
- 12:56ego's never been there in the out -of -the -ring
- 13:02stuff. I'm going to tell you guys a very interesting
- 13:07opinion. I think if Boots was with top rank...
- 13:11instead of PBC for the beginning, I feel like
- 13:14he would be a lot more known. A lot more well
- 13:17-known. A lot more popular. I agree because that
- 13:19was the end of their ESPN deal. So he would have
- 13:22been around for their ESPN deal. I agree. The
- 13:26really funny part is that his first title fight
- 13:31at 147 would have... still been, like, you would
- 13:36have either had him fight Crawford really early
- 13:38on, or it would have been right as Crawford left
- 13:42147, and it would have been, like, completely
- 13:48by design. Well, you would have him versus Brian
- 13:50Norman Jr. Because it would be the WL, for sure.
- 13:53No, but that's... But Brian Norman has come around
- 13:58pretty recently. Well, yeah, 2024. Yeah, because
- 14:03I was going to say, I'm thinking Boots was ready
- 14:05when he beat Lipinets. Yeah, I mean, honestly,
- 14:11you could argue he was ready before that. Boots
- 14:13was pretty ready at like, let me see when that
- 14:16was exactly. That was 2021. So yeah. So I was
- 14:21going to say, he probably, I still think, I think,
- 14:24you know what, I don't think Boots at that stage,
- 14:27he had, but he was the goods. But I don't think
- 14:32Boots at that stage, maybe because Crawford hadn't,
- 14:35like, really shown any signs of age yet. Like,
- 14:38he was right in his prime and Boots still wasn't.
- 14:42Like, it would have been a cool fight, clear
- 14:44Crawford win, and then Boots would have rebuilt
- 14:46and then kicked the shit out of Norman and then
- 14:49kept moving. Yeah. I mean, honestly, with PBC,
- 14:53they really should have had Vice Pence. They
- 14:56just... I feel like it was partially retaliatory
- 14:58because Boots refused to fully commit. He liked
- 15:02that flexibility of being a free -ish agent.
- 15:05But also, you know, Boots is so obviously good.
- 15:09Like, if you're watching him from his showbox
- 15:12days, like, it's the same Boots. Yeah. To a fault
- 15:18in some cases, which we'll go over later. I don't
- 15:21think we can... I don't think we can slag him
- 15:24for that considering... I'd much rather a guy
- 15:28who is that much better than his opponents fight
- 15:31like that as a fan than become incredibly negative.
- 15:37Oh, I agree. I understand. I would much rather
- 15:40watch Boots like this, but it frustrates me too
- 15:42because it's like, come on. You can do two things
- 15:45at once. We'll talk about it right now. I know.
- 15:48Can we skip the line to the... We'll finish the
- 15:54news and we can get to the fights. What we're
- 15:58drooling over, yeah. Alright. Let's go to Mayweather
- 16:03Pacquiao 2 has been postponed. What? What a surprise,
- 16:09I know. Oh my god! Can you believe it? The fight
- 16:14that the fans have been clamoring for has been
- 16:19pushed back. I can't believe it. Dude, I'm fucking
- 16:23surprised. What? Please don't tell me the Zambides
- 16:27fight is not happening. Please tell me. And the
- 16:30Mike Tyson fight. Oh, the bit's over. I was going
- 16:35to say Zambides already got cancelled a while
- 16:37ago. Yeah, that was supposed to have happened
- 16:39like two weeks ago. Yeah. Apparently, Mayweather...
- 16:49tried to make the Zambides fight outside of his
- 16:54promotional engagement with CSI Sports or something
- 17:01like that. Sure. So they cancelled the Zambides
- 17:08fight and then these postponements have come
- 17:16separately of that. Overall, Mayweather, it's
- 17:27sad to see, but at the same time, because he
- 17:33spent his career being a douchebag, it's also
- 17:36kind of funny. I just think that it's such delicious
- 17:42irony to have the guy who... his entire thing
- 17:47was, I retired on my own terms. I kept all my
- 17:50money. I don't need to come back. These exhibitions
- 17:53are just for fun. Be like, oh my god, how's Adrian
- 17:56Broner in better financial shape than you right
- 17:58now? With his kick streaming. And ironically,
- 18:05Broner is doing better than Mayweather financially.
- 18:08Which is... Mayweather cutting bad checks. Show
- 18:13this to someone in 2017, by the way, and they
- 18:16might... They will laugh at you. Like, vomiting
- 18:21laugh. Yeah. No, like, I just think, you know,
- 18:26this is all... If you really want to reach its
- 18:31straws, if you're a real Al Heyman hater, you
- 18:34can blame Al Heyman for being in poor health
- 18:36for this. Because Al Heyman had pretty strict
- 18:41control over his finances, like the allowances
- 18:43and everything. And then he had some health problems,
- 18:48and then now Mayweather all of a sudden has control
- 18:50over all his money at once, and then here it
- 18:53is. Here's the result. If we can pull its straws,
- 18:58you can still blame Al Heyman. Can't help but
- 19:04want to blame Al Heyman, because he's at fault
- 19:08for everything. He's at fault for everything.
- 19:11You know, he still owes people $486. It's crazy.
- 19:19It's crazy. Those kind of debts, how does Al
- 19:24Heyman consider himself a respectable businessman?
- 19:31Tank has been named champion in recess. And the
- 19:37WBA lightweight title will be faced off between
- 19:42Lucas Body and Floyd Schofield. Floyd Schofield
- 19:49in six. Schofield should win that in six. Will
- 19:53the USB plug make an appearance, though? There's
- 20:03a chance. I'm not going to lie. Lucas' body poisons
- 20:11Floyd Schofield. With meth? With something. Makes
- 20:18him have to shove cables up his nose. And last
- 20:28bit of news, Dimitri Beeble will be undergoing
- 20:31elbow surgery. By the time you're hearing this,
- 20:35he should have already gone under the knife.
- 20:39And his WBO mandatory has been called Callum
- 20:43Smith. So if he wants to keep that title, he's
- 20:50going to have to face Callum Smith. That's such
- 20:53a good fight, guys. Oh, man. Depends on how big
- 20:57the ring is. That is a fight that will depend
- 21:01on how big the ring is. If the ring is huge,
- 21:07it will be so unwatchable and it will not be
- 21:09people's fault. If the ring is small, it will
- 21:16be a fun little shootout. Well, yeah, you know,
- 21:23I gotta say, Calum Smith, Calum's gonna bring
- 21:26it. He always does. He always brings it. But
- 21:38that's it for the news. Let's get this out of
- 21:41the way so that we can get to the shit that we
- 21:43really want to talk about. Social media stuff.

- 25:29in Tennyson, Queensland, Australia. Liam Paro.
- 25:34gets the UD over Lewis Crocker to claim the IBF
- 25:38welterweight title. Isn't that nice? The Liam
- 25:45Parrow cleanup of the division begins now. God
- 25:50damn, finally. Crocker's gone. Few division champ
- 25:53Liam Parrow. That too. God, Liam Parrow's probably
- 25:58going to have to fight Patty Donovan next. He
- 26:00is. That's his mandatory. Yeah, that's his mandatory.
- 26:03So get rid of him. Just knock him out. And then
- 26:08he's going to fight Karen Chakadzian after that,
- 26:10though. Yeah, get rid of these guys. Parrow is
- 26:13probably the best ever Australian, other than,
- 26:15like, was it Nikita Zoo? Was the... The brother?
- 26:21No, the father. Costa. Costa Zoo. Costa Zoo.
- 26:26Costa Zoo. It's a Russian -Australian. We can
- 26:32start calling this the Fab Four. We can count
- 26:35Costa Zoo as the best Australian, but I like
- 26:39Liam Parrow as well. It's the Fab Four, guys.
- 26:45We got Chuka Zakazian. We got Karen. I don't
- 26:48know how to say his name. We got Karen Donovan,
- 26:51Parrow, and Crocker. The anti -fab four. Paro,
- 26:57please. Please just finish this, Paro. He's going
- 27:02to lose to Hitchens again. On Zufa. On Zufa.
- 27:08Imagine he cleans up the IBF at 147 and then
- 27:11goes to beat Hitchens and Zufa. I would send
- 27:15him flowers or something. Oh my god. I would
- 27:19petition the Boxing Hall of Fame to induct him
- 27:21immediately. The rematch is going to be crazy.
- 27:25No five years of inactivity, please. No, we need
- 27:29it now. He's gotten rid of everyone I hate. What's
- 27:38next? Let's see here. Really quickly, Starbox.
- 27:42Rock and Fights. Yeah, Rock and Fights 54 by
- 27:45Starboxing. Just Some Selects. Wendy Toussaint
- 27:51gets a majority draw. over Miguel Hernandez and
- 27:55Isaiah Flaherty gets the UD over Mickey Scala.
- 27:59That's the only fight that I was really caring
- 28:01about. Mickey, you son of a bitch. You're supposed
- 28:06to be putting Phoenix on the map. Now, do we
- 28:15want to skip and do the Zufa really quick or
- 28:17get the Zufa out of the way faster or do we want
- 28:21to go straight into let's go we're not doing
- 28:25uh we can ignore zoo for as long as possible
- 28:28that can be like the come down all right um so
- 28:32matchroom and top rank collab on the zone out
- 28:37of the barclays center uh in the prelims we had
- 28:40uh that was worth mentioning juanma lopez the
- 28:46i think he's the is he a junior I know he goes
- 28:54by Juan Vida, but he gets the KO1 over Alberto
- 29:00Motos. Nice. And into the main portion, Ben Whitaker
- 29:08stops Richard Rivera in two. As much as it was
- 29:14really clear that the fight was going in this
- 29:18direction, I still don't agree with when the
- 29:21fight was stopped. Can Ben just fight someone?
- 29:27Period. Yeah, somebody worth a damn? Like, I'm
- 29:33sick of... This is... Like, he is... He is basically
- 29:38going the Richard Torres path of, you know, upper
- 29:43-level amateur -ish. And who, you know, like
- 29:50good but not excellent amateur who just... Well,
- 29:55let's fight bums until I get a world title fight.
- 29:59IBF? That's the IBF mantra. He's going to the
- 30:04WBC, though. This is literally Richard... This
- 30:07is the most Richard Torres thing ever. Richard
- 30:11Torres is ranked in the WBC. Frank Sanchez just...
- 30:14His knee exploded, so... But I'm just, oh my
- 30:18god. Fuck it, Najee Lopez, free us from Ben Whittaker.
- 30:27Oh, that would be the ultimate showdown. Like,
- 30:30the guy who, yeah, the guy who grinded his way
- 30:32up the fucking meat grinder versus the coronated,
- 30:39anointed Ben Whittaker. For the record, the main
- 30:45event we're about to talk about is still not
- 30:46Fight of the Year. Lopez Gallegos is still Fight
- 30:50of the Year to me. That shit was crazy, but I
- 30:56digress. Jahai Tucker got a majority decision
- 31:02over Yuri Sedano. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Not
- 31:12much to say. Yeah. Emiliano Vargas, TKO4 over
- 31:18Bryce Mills. My man was talking about being a,
- 31:23like this time next year, being in, if not a
- 31:27champion, at the very least being in title contention.
- 31:30Does it look like that's in the cards for him?
- 31:33A 140? Good luck. What do you mean good luck?
- 31:37I mean, good luck. That's happening probably
- 31:39by the end of the year. Okay, with who? Lindolfo.
- 31:45WBO route. That's IBF, isn't it? No, Dalton Smith
- 31:49is IBF. Lindolfo is WBO, I believe. Dalton Smith
- 31:55is WBC. No, WBC. Who took the IBF after Hitchens
- 32:01then? Lindolfo. Lindolfo, yeah, okay. Shakur's
- 32:06going to vacate for sure this year. That's the
- 32:09WBO. Yeah, Shakur. That's the WBO, yeah, okay.
- 32:12Yeah, Lindolfo, yeah. That's probably an easier
- 32:16fight for Lindolfo. Well, not easier fight. Respect
- 32:19in the end of Vargas. You know, Dalton Smith
- 32:23can literally slow down time. Yeah. That's true.
- 32:30That's true, guys. That's why I'm like, okay,
- 32:35Keyshawn's blatantly too good for Vargas. Peace
- 32:39and love, right? Yeah, peace. We could all agree
- 32:44Keyshawn is way better than Vargas. Well, Keyshawn's
- 32:49also like five years older. It doesn't matter.
- 32:52He could be five years younger and still be way
- 32:54better. Well, there's room to grow for him. Yeah,
- 32:59but I'm saying if we're doing the world title
- 33:00now, like Dalton Smith and... In the next year,
- 33:04when Vargas' time frame. Yeah, so I'm looking
- 33:08at the timeline and I'm like, Keyshawn and Smith,
- 33:10not too confident there. But yeah, Lindolfo,
- 33:15yeah. Look what I sent. Look what I sent. Lindolfo's
- 33:20ring number one, Emiliano's number two. Yeah,
- 33:23so it'll be Lindolfo. He's going to fight Lindolfo.
- 33:27Extremely doable fight. I think it's if he wins.
- 33:30Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm not disagreeing. That's fair.
- 33:35Sorry, when you think of, like, Titleist at 140,
- 33:37I'm like, oh, my God. That's actually pretty
- 33:39scary. But, no. Yeah. Shakur probably moving
- 33:44up. Yeah. Or going to Zufa and dropping the title.
- 33:47Yeah. Two vacants. Oh, my God. I think I might.
- 33:51You know what? Like, the sport. Something needs
- 33:54to happen. if Shakur Hitchens gets made at Zufa.
- 34:00Well, something must be done there. I just thought
- 34:04it just occurred to me that that could happen.
- 34:07Huh. You know, I just saw something really interesting
- 34:11on the welterweight rankings for the WBO. Oh.
- 34:17Welterweight. I know it's not really related,
- 34:19but I see that. Devin Haney, obviously champion.
- 34:23Keyshawn's ranked number one. Manny Pacquiao
- 34:26is ranked number two. Teofimo Lopez is ranked
- 34:30number three. Arnold Barboza is ranked number
- 34:33four. And Brian Norman Jr., the GOAT, is ranked
- 34:36number five. Alexis Rocha is still ranked at
- 34:39welterweight? Yeah. How bad is this division?
- 34:44Dude, look how bad these rankings are. This is
- 34:46horrible. Hey, no, no. Manny Pacquiao totally
- 34:49deserved ranking for... You know, a long -time
- 34:53belt holder taking him to a robbery decision.
- 34:58But he fought for the WBC, not the WBO. Don't
- 35:02say the name of that belt holder. You know what,
- 35:06Manny Pacquiao might just fight fucking Demi
- 35:08Haney at this point. Fuck. And take him to a
- 35:13decision? Take him to a decision? Imagine if
- 35:18it looks like the Broner fight. Imagine it looks
- 35:22like the fucking Thurman fight. Oh, my God. He
- 35:27knocks down Haney. Haney's next fight will be
- 35:31against Mario Barrios and then getting knocked
- 35:33out by Fundora. Bar for bar, Thurman. Maybe that
- 35:39might be Manny Pacquiao's X -Factor right now
- 35:40is that everybody has so much respect for him
- 35:43that they won't fight him for the first six rounds.
- 35:46And then he cruises to a decision. Except for
- 35:50Ugas. Except for Ugas. Except for Ugas. Ugas
- 35:53had no respect for that man. Ugas doesn't even
- 35:56know himself. Ugas, Ugas type shit. Ugas, Ugas.
- 36:04Ugas, Ugas. He goes back to Miliano Vargas. He's
- 36:09going to fight Lindolfo. And I think he's going
- 36:11to win. He's going to be champion. I think he's
- 36:16ready. Even if it wasn't. If it wasn't Lindolfo,
- 36:20then he's ready to face a champion at this point.
- 36:25It's also crazy because Oscar Duarte is ranked
- 36:28number three. And I feel like since they have
- 36:31Lindolfo at one and Emiliano at two, they're
- 36:35going to put one of them. It's a top ranking.
- 36:38They're going to put both of them together. Lindolfo
- 36:41has been on their fucking payroll for years now.
- 36:47Isn't Duarte with Goldenboy? He's with Goldenboy,
- 36:52yeah. He gets to have the chair in the corner.
- 37:05Alright. Main event. Jaron Ennis stops Xander
- 37:13Zayas in the seventh. to claim the WBA, WBO,
- 37:18Super Welterweight titles. The coroner stepped
- 37:23up and threw the towel in for this one, right?
- 37:27I'm pretty sure that's what happened. Depends,
- 37:29depends. Wait, this is the main, right? It depends
- 37:33on who you consult. There's a certain fighter
- 37:39who's never fought for a world title in his second
- 37:43division now. Who is claiming Zaius quit up front.
- 37:53Hmm. But the official commission result is that
- 37:56the corner and the court, not only was the corner
- 37:59throwing in the towel, they were basically shoving
- 38:02the commission official and doctor into the ring
- 38:05to stop the fight. So. Makes sense. Yeah, good
- 38:14call. Honestly, excellent call on the corner.
- 38:17Very good call. We do not see enough of this
- 38:19in boxing. Like, when your guy is getting a pasting,
- 38:25but his chin is too tough, he's too tough for
- 38:29his own good, you pull him out. We should not
- 38:32be discouraging this. This is good. The whole
- 38:36point of the corner is to step in when the guy...
- 38:40When their pride or their ego get in the way.
- 38:48Now, Saul, I know you have a lot to say on this
- 38:51one. Let's hear it. Saul. Did you die? Oh, my
- 39:11God. He did die. God damn it. Oh, well. He disconnected.
- 39:20Sorry. This fucking guy rage quit as soon as
- 39:25we started talking about his guy. No, sorry.
- 39:31That's my bad. My shit fucking. Embarrassing.
- 39:36Anyways, can you guys catch me up? I'm so sorry.
- 39:39You got a lot to say on the Jaron Ennis, Xander
- 39:43Zayas result. Okay. I do. I do. Did Josh say
- 39:51his piece first or do I have to whip my dick
- 39:53out first? You got it. Okay. He's going to tear
- 39:57my ass up for this one. He's going to tear me
- 40:00up a whole new one. Okay. You guys ready? Go
- 40:09for it. First of all, I'm not going to put down
- 40:14boots for beating Zayas. Because after tonight,
- 40:19it proves to me that Zayas belongs in there with
- 40:23the top guys. Do you guys agree with me on that
- 40:28part? Yeah, I agree. Zayas. Okay. Both show tremendous
- 40:33heart. Zayas. I got to give it to Zayas, too.
- 40:38I thought he was going to be out within four.
- 40:41It looked like that within the first two rounds.
- 40:44And then round three hit. Turns out his chin
- 40:47is made out of way more than I thought he could
- 40:51handle. More than hopes and dreams? Oh, yeah.
- 40:54The round three does not happen with a guy whose
- 40:59chin isn't made of that. Because that happened,
- 41:03like, Boots getting rocked was right in the middle
- 41:06of Boots giving him, like, a six -piece combination
- 41:08that would wipe out anyone in, like, anyone from
- 41:14147 to 160. Oh, yeah. That was dirty. That was
- 41:20three rounds of brutalizing Zayas, and then Zayas
- 41:24somehow weathered it and caught him. I got to
- 41:29tell you this. Not even that, dude. He got hit.
- 41:31Dude, you guys see those combinations he's taking
- 41:33to the face? We all saw that, right? Like, that
- 41:36was fucking disgusting. No, like... And he weathered
- 41:40that. I thought, like, when you look at the slow
- 41:42motion, it's not to that extent because Zayas
- 41:46doesn't have the Jim Carrey face muscles, but
- 41:50it's... Who was... Yeah, Martin Murray. Martin
- 41:52Murray's the guy that Golovkin punched so hard
- 41:55he started looking like Marcos Maidana. Yep.
- 41:58That type of, like, if you look at the slow motion,
- 42:01Zayas is getting hit with that type of just bombs,
- 42:06bombs, bombs, bombs. So, like, huge, huge respect
- 42:10to Zayas for hanging in there and managing to
- 42:12land back. Period. 100%. To my other point, though,
- 42:19I gotta tell you guys this, okay? And I've been
- 42:24very vocal about this. The fact that we're I'm
- 42:28even saying this about Boots. It shows how great
- 42:31he is. Because, I mean, this is the only knock
- 42:35I could give him. For the first three rounds,
- 42:39he's doing good. And then after round three,
- 42:41he got fucking caught. He got tired. I'll explain
- 42:46more what I mean. But the fact that my only gripe
- 42:52with Boots is this shows how good of a fighter
- 42:54he is. It's a very big... Very big problem that
- 43:00other fighters can take advantage of. And I'm
- 43:05going to tell you this. I think after seeing
- 43:06this fight, I genuinely believe that Virgil beats
- 43:08him. I believed it before. Hold up. But I thought
- 43:12it was maybe 50 -50. I'm thinking 60 -40 now.
- 43:18I'm thinking 60 -40 Virgil beats Boots. And the
- 43:20reason I say that... Hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 43:22Let me explain why. Let me explain why, okay?
- 43:25This is the conclusion you pull from this fight.
- 43:27Wait, hold on, hold on, hold on. Let me explain.
- 43:30Let me cook. Let me cook, okay? Boots, fantastic
- 43:36that first round, okay? But he knocked down Vazayas,
- 43:40and he rushed to get the KO. Okay? And because
- 43:49of that... He didn't really expect Zayas, at
- 43:53least from what I've seen, it looked like he
- 43:55didn't expect Zayas to be that durable after
- 43:57that knockdown. Until round three, he started
- 44:01slowing down because he was gassed from going
- 44:04so hard. Very reasonably, who did? When you saw
- 44:08Zayas go down in the first round, did you think,
- 44:11hmm, he's going to stick around for a while?
- 44:14No, I didn't think that either. I didn't believe
- 44:16it. Usually the armchair spectator still has
- 44:22a better gauge on things because they're not
- 44:24in there. And even then, we still got blindsided
- 44:27by that. That's what made it an exciting fight.
- 44:29But I think it's kind of ridiculous to say that,
- 44:33oh, Virgil would... Well, let me finish my point.
- 44:37Let me finish my point. I think it's ridiculous.
- 44:40Let me finish my point. Hold up, hold up. Because
- 44:42I know people are saying... I'm not trying to
- 44:44say that Boots is ass. Because I know some people
- 44:46are trying to say that Boots is a fraud. He's
- 44:49not a fraud. But he got overconfident. And that's
- 44:54when Zayas started going belt to ass with him.
- 44:56To the point where in round three, he was on
- 45:00shaky legs. He was on shaky legs. And going into
- 45:05round four, round five, parts of round six, it
- 45:09was competitive. And Zayas on the inside, which
- 45:11I thought at first was kind of, you know. I know
- 45:16how Boots' defense is leaky, but I thought, you
- 45:19know, Zayas wouldn't be fast enough to take care
- 45:22of Boots like that. Okay. And so past round six,
- 45:28when Boots kind of got his win back, that's when
- 45:30he took care of business. Round six, you're going
- 45:33to win back and, like, end of round four or round
- 45:35five. No, but he really started pressing the
- 45:38action hard. He started accelerating once he
- 45:41was once again safe to do so. I don't think that's
- 45:45get his wind back. I think that's, okay, I made
- 45:48that mistake already. Let me take a step back
- 45:51to properly evaluate. I think I should have worded
- 45:57it differently. You're right. I should have worded
- 45:59it differently. He was still beating Zayas' ass,
- 46:02yeah. Yeah, he was still belting ass, but it
- 46:05was a lot more competitive. And because of that,
- 46:09I think that depending on the ring size of Virgil
- 46:12and Boots, I don't know. It might be... It might
- 46:18fucking be a lot harder for Buse than we thought.
- 46:22Because on the inside, that's all Virgil's game.
- 46:25I think he's a terrific inside fighter. I...
- 46:30I have some comments. Okay. My first one is,
- 46:37Virgil is nowhere near as durable as Zayas is.
- 46:40Period. Well, we didn't know how durable Zaius
- 46:44was. We didn't know how durable Zaius was. It
- 46:46turns out Zaius is made of fucking adamantium,
- 46:50right? But we know for a fact how durable Virgil
- 46:54is. We know that he can get caught with his feet
- 46:59together and actually get shook pretty bad by
- 47:02a pretty elementary jab like Boa Chuck. We know
- 47:07that a guy who is significantly less explosive
- 47:10and offensively capable like Mean Machine can,
- 47:14you know, actually put some proper dents in him
- 47:18and push him back. But I think the big thing
- 47:21that kind of, you know, calling Virgil a fantastic
- 47:29inside fighter is a little weird. Because he
- 47:33works best, not a long range, but, like, close
- 47:37to middle range. Medium range. Medium range.
- 47:39Yeah, like, medium range is where he is at best.
- 47:42His arms are pretty long, so that is his close
- 47:45range. But at his weight class, though? In his
- 47:50weight class? Compared to the guys in the weight
- 47:52class. But the thing is that Boots' optimal,
- 47:55like, range, like, where he landed the uppercut,
- 47:57all the knockdowns from. is basically right up
- 48:01to the opponent. Yeah, but where was he getting
- 48:04caught at? Yeah, but I'm saying, yeah, when he'd
- 48:08step back because he doesn't give a shit. I feel
- 48:11like, to be fair, again, the perception with
- 48:15Zayas is this guy, like, let's put yourself in
- 48:19Boots' shoes. This guy is some top -ranked bum
- 48:24with no power who has struggled through Europeans.
- 48:30and I'm putting belt ass on him, I can operate
- 48:33wherever I want. With Virgil, you obviously,
- 48:37like, Boots, notice Boots was using his jab and
- 48:41boxing perfectly, and then, you know, once he's
- 48:45estimated the level of his opponent, that's when
- 48:48you get the, I'm going to call them fun habits,
- 48:50because they make the fight fun. So how's Boots
- 48:53going to get when he knocks down Virgil? Apparently,
- 48:55because you're saying he's going to knock down
- 48:56Virgil. No, well, to be fair, Virgil's probably
- 48:59not going to get up, honestly. But I'm saying
- 49:01he's going to be. Virgil's probably not getting
- 49:03up, man. Well, Virgil's going to put down boots.
- 49:06Virgil getting fried cleanly by one of those
- 49:09uppercuts, especially because I will say the
- 49:12only interesting part will be to see if Virgil
- 49:16can mix up his jab. His jab is a wonderful jab
- 49:20that can put guys in one spot, but it is very
- 49:24singular rhythm. I'm not going to sit here and
- 49:28call Virgil a three -dimensional fighter. I'm
- 49:32not saying that. He's very one -dimensional,
- 49:34but he's fucking good at it. He's had the need
- 49:38to adjust, and instead of making the adjustments
- 49:42that would make the fight easier, he has relied
- 49:44on his intangibles to push him through it. I
- 49:49gotta say, if that was Virgil on Saturday night,
- 49:52he would have won. Virgil isn't making it to
- 49:54the point of the third round. How can you say
- 49:57that? We didn't think Zayas was able to do that.
- 49:59Come on. We didn't know Zayas was made of fucking
- 50:02steel. We have seen Virgil's limits in regards
- 50:06to physicality. So when you say it like that,
- 50:11okay. You're saying Zayas is not. Hold on. What
- 50:15about Karen? What do you mean? What about Karen?
- 50:19The guy who got on his bike for 24 rounds. The
- 50:22guy that got knocked down by Patty Donovan as
- 50:24well. We know that he's not as durable as we
- 50:29thought. To be fair, there's a difference in
- 50:32how he fought those fights. I was going to say,
- 50:34you don't fight Patty Donovan the same way you
- 50:37fight Jerome Linus. Let's be real. If Karen got
- 50:40on his bike, if he got absolutely on his bike
- 50:44in a 24 by 24 ring like he did with Boots for
- 50:4812 rounds with Patty Donovan, Patty Donovan maybe
- 50:50lands three punches. He felt like he had the
- 50:54confidence and probably some pressure from his
- 50:56corner and promoters to actually fight because
- 50:59it's Patty Donovan. And then, yeah, you know,
- 51:02you're not, you fight a style you're not used
- 51:03to. Whatever. There's a difference there. But
- 51:07I'm just saying Boots probably has, like, Boots'
- 51:11ideal range is where Virgil does not want it
- 51:14to be. Because at long range, you know, you can
- 51:18put a guy, you can stick a guy. and move with
- 51:21a guy and eventually get him on the ropes. Medium
- 51:23range, that's where Virgil wants to be. That's
- 51:26where he kills you. But Boots does his best work,
- 51:29particularly with the uppercuts and shots that
- 51:32guys don't see, right in your face. He will lead
- 51:35you into one. And Virgil's defense and just general,
- 51:39his MO, which is to come forward and get you
- 51:42on the ropes, is not great for a guy who likes
- 51:46walking you into uppercuts. I gotta say, dude,
- 51:51I partially disagree with that argument. I agree
- 51:54and disagree. Like, it's just, I think Virgil,
- 51:57I think Virgil, we've seen Virgil get bullied
- 52:01up close twice. By guys that are also bullies.
- 52:05They fight similar to Virgil. Yeah, but... If
- 52:08Virgil's a comfort fighter, you fight another
- 52:10comfort fighter, you're gonna get bullied on
- 52:12the close range as well. There's no shot. You
- 52:16know what I mean? But then, again, it isn't your
- 52:19intangibles that push you through. I think Boots
- 52:21just has too many potential wrinkles. Because,
- 52:26again, the uppercut that he walked Zayas into
- 52:30was a pure boxer's uppercut. That was not like
- 52:33an inside slugger's uppercut. That was pretty
- 52:35beautiful. That was pretty damn beautiful. I'm
- 52:38not going to lie to that. I'm getting creamy
- 52:39just thinking about that shit right now. That's
- 52:41what I'm saying. That is something that you'll
- 52:43see come in from the outside. He literally switches.
- 52:50He has a natural flow. Most guys have a rhythm.
- 52:56Like a car. It's predictable. They go from first
- 52:59to second to third gear. They have adjustments
- 53:02they can make, but they happen gradually. Like,
- 53:07even Crawford, like, you'll see his adjustments
- 53:10happen round to round. When he figures a guy
- 53:13out, it isn't mid -round. It's round to round.
- 53:18And with Boots, it's just, I don't think it's
- 53:21even an IQ thing. It's just a level of fluidity
- 53:24where his hands will be in the right spot at
- 53:27the right time. And that's, for a guy like Virgil,
- 53:32where he's a very... He's a very well -oiled
- 53:35car, but he's still a car. You know, once he's
- 53:42in third gear, Boots is going to be able to get
- 53:44into that third gear rhythm and figure something
- 53:48out. Just pretty fluidly. Especially, my biggest
- 53:53concern for Virgil, because like, yeah, if they
- 53:55get into a shootout at mid -range, Virgil has
- 53:57a chance, but... Virgil is kind of static with
- 54:01his feet and with his hands. He has the same
- 54:03high guard, and his feet are very much shuffling
- 54:07forwards or backwards. There's no... I agree
- 54:11with the feet. I do agree with the feet. But
- 54:14the high guard, I think his high guard is pretty
- 54:17decent. I actually think it's one of the best.
- 54:19I take that back. I think it's one of the best
- 54:21in boxing. Now, high guard is very basic. Defense.
- 54:29Yeah. But, you know, compared to all the other
- 54:32boxers using high guard, I think it's a very
- 54:34smart. He uses it very smartly. Yeah. He uses
- 54:38it intelligently. He can cover his body up because
- 54:41of his arm length and everything, too. It's just
- 54:44that, like, the way Boots is, like, you'll notice
- 54:48most of the shots that, like, led to knockdowns
- 54:51prior to the knockdown shot, Boots is just hit,
- 54:55like. you still feel the impact. Like, glove
- 54:58against your forehead. If you're taking a power
- 55:00shot on it, you're still getting rattled. And
- 55:04that's why I'm, like, the high guard, like, that's
- 55:07why, like, Crawford is probably the most interesting
- 55:10boots fight in, like, this sort of era. Because,
- 55:14like, Crawford is also that fluid and will not,
- 55:18he's not just going to let boots wail on a high
- 55:21guard and break him down. I guess. But one thing
- 55:26I gotta say about Virgil, though, when you guys
- 55:28mentioned the Bochuk fight, I get it. I get it.
- 55:31The two knockdowns, I get it, okay? But let me
- 55:34tell you this. That fight, too, you also gotta
- 55:36look at the context. The way he was fighting
- 55:38Bochuk in the first, like, four rounds and then
- 55:42the last three, he wasn't fighting like how he's
- 55:46fighting now. I think he improved. In a sense
- 55:50that, like, I don't know if you guys remember
- 55:52when he was fucking using that silly -ass fucking
- 55:54jab, like... jab, fucking bouncing around the
- 55:57ring, trying to box, trying to be someone he's
- 56:00not. You guys remember that? Yeah, I think that
- 56:04gives him more of a chance to catch boots, though.
- 56:08Seriously? With fucking dropping your hand? It's
- 56:13stupid, but if you, like, the come forward, like,
- 56:18you give yourself a lot of room to get walked
- 56:21into something that... Us as spectators can't
- 56:25even realize. I don't even think Boots knows
- 56:27he's throwing some of these shots until he's
- 56:31throwing them. No, no, come on. That's kind of
- 56:35glazing to the max, come on. No, it happens.
- 56:38Like, you don't find, like, you're looking for
- 56:41a shot, but when it shows, like, especially with
- 56:44how Bozy is, like, it's very, like, you look
- 56:49at Bozy's fighters, they're very much... You're
- 56:52not getting trained in a pattern. Here's what
- 56:56we're drilling. You'll see it. You'll get the
- 57:04toolbox. You're given the toolbox. It depends
- 57:07on how you use the toolbox. I just think Boots
- 57:10has that fluidity. Let's consider he's been with
- 57:14the same guy and had the same training his whole
- 57:17life. to have this sort of toolbox. I think his
- 57:23best tool is his ability to adjust in certain
- 57:25instances. Yeah. Better than other fighters.
- 57:28Sometimes not, you know, sometimes he does and
- 57:30sometimes he doesn't. But, like, the point I'm
- 57:33making, he has the whole toolbox, but, like,
- 57:35sometimes you just, you know, you don't have
- 57:39the presence of mind to do so, but if your body
- 57:41is built to throw whatever whenever. you get
- 57:46moments like that uppercut where you think he's
- 57:48just going to keep wailing away with him, especially
- 57:50to the body now that his guard is up. And then,
- 57:52you know, you walk him into an uppercut that
- 57:57usually, like, you're not thinking of in that
- 57:59situation for both sides. I think if it was Virgil
- 58:04in that ring, I think when Boots was hurt, Virgil
- 58:10would have done the job. Maybe not knocked him
- 58:13out right there, but he would have fucking knocked
- 58:14him down. I agree. I just don't agree that we
- 58:17get to that point without Virgil being too damaged
- 58:20to follow up. Virgil is pretty good at recovering.
- 58:25When he gets knocked down, he gets mad. He goes
- 58:27back even harder. You know what? I agree. I agree
- 58:31in the sense that when you're damaged, obviously
- 58:34you're not going to punch as hard like what we
- 58:36saw with Zayas. When you get damaged, you don't
- 58:40get that fucking shit back for a while. You don't
- 58:43get that power back. I just think the Virgil
- 58:47discussion is very, like, it feels as if, like,
- 58:55we're just, like, you're looking for a guy to
- 58:58be Boots' foil, not you specifically. But it's
- 59:03like, you know, in boxing, we always seek a storyline.
- 59:05We always seek a super fight. Just naturally,
- 59:09right? Honestly, like, okay, if we're going to
- 59:12be for real, I feel like Boots' foil isn't. if
- 59:15he does have a foil, is going to be another Black
- 59:19American fighter on the rise. But I think Virgil
- 59:23is the urge to find a foil. Like, I feel like
- 59:27in hindsight, you know, people who didn't just
- 59:30hate Crawford or, like, Spence, like, people,
- 59:33you know, people in the middle, like, they wanted
- 59:37to, like, especially if Crawford didn't, you
- 59:39know, if he didn't re -sign with Top Rank and
- 59:40we had, like, a normal build -up for that fight.
- 59:43it would have been even more clear that Crawford
- 59:45is number one and that we're just looking for
- 59:48a foil. And I feel like it's the same with Boots.
- 59:52We're like, you're looking for a foil because
- 59:56the reality that he's... that all that is a little...
- 1:00:03So it's just natural psychology of a boxing fan,
- 1:00:09I guess. Because, I mean, you see with Usyk.
- 1:00:10Usyk beat everyone. from his era, and we still
- 1:00:14get people trying to create boogeymen that he
- 1:00:16will allegedly duck or not fight. The Cabello
- 1:00:20boogeyman? Yeah, like, you create, like, it's
- 1:00:24very much, uh, onto the next type thing. Or,
- 1:00:27like, the Matias boogeyman. Yeah, like, or, like,
- 1:00:30I mean... Any boogeyman, in recent memory, honestly.
- 1:00:34But, like, even any, any, like, rivalry. Like,
- 1:00:37you try to... Some of them are, like, actually
- 1:00:40evenly matched, but a lot of the time it's there's
- 1:00:44a guy you do not want to admit. You don't want
- 1:00:47to – you kind of can't say, okay, we got to wait
- 1:00:50for him to get old, really. And I feel like Boots
- 1:00:53is that guy. See, the thing is – okay, I have
- 1:00:57a couple points to say regarding that. Yeah,
- 1:01:01but when Boots gets old, he's got to be B -hop.
- 1:01:04He's got to become B -hop because his reflexes
- 1:01:06aren't going to be – As good as they are right
- 1:01:09now. Because that's also what's carrying him,
- 1:01:10too. His reflexes and his movement. What's kind
- 1:01:12of ironic is, I'm not going to say movement,
- 1:01:14but B -Hop's reflexes actually did hold up until
- 1:01:17the very end. Because it was a lot of reflex
- 1:01:21-based clinching and countering. But I'm talking
- 1:01:25more like offense. No, stylistically, I get it.
- 1:01:28Stylistically, he has to be a lot craftier with
- 1:01:29his offense instead of just, hey, I'm better
- 1:01:32than you, I'm going to kill you. Yeah. I agree
- 1:01:35with that. But I got to tell you this, dude.
- 1:01:38At least my reasoning for why I'm so adamant
- 1:01:42on Virgil beating Boots on that storyline, quote
- 1:01:47-unquote, I guess, is that the holes in Boots'
- 1:01:50game, I think Virgil's one of the only ones in
- 1:01:53boxing right now that can take advantage of it.
- 1:01:59I don't see anybody else taking advantage of
- 1:02:01Boots like Virgil. Okay? Nobody else at 154,
- 1:02:06like, Fundora maybe just because of his height.
- 1:02:08That's it. Well, no, Fundora's all smoke and
- 1:02:13mirrors if you really take a look. Yeah. So that's
- 1:02:17it. Like, let's be real. I re -watched the Lubin
- 1:02:21fight just to be like, okay, you know what? I
- 1:02:24do like watching Fundora fight. Maybe I'm just
- 1:02:26being a little too negative because my favorite
- 1:02:28is at this weight class. And, like, man, Lubin
- 1:02:32was piecing him up at points. I really can't
- 1:02:35lie. Didn't he knock him down? Yeah, he knocked
- 1:02:39him down. Dude, look what he did to his face.
- 1:02:43Bro, he looked like fucking Goofy. Going to war
- 1:02:47with Tim Zhu twice, too. Like, not the best.
- 1:02:55Van Orsby's looked fucked up in that fight with
- 1:02:57Lubin. Lubin was way worse, but come on. So I
- 1:03:01just, I agree. I agree that this fight is a guaranteed
- 1:03:06shootout between the two premier offensive engines
- 1:03:10in the sport. I just think, like, I hold boots
- 1:03:17in that high of regard that, you know, I don't
- 1:03:21see it as... two of the same, but very much a
- 1:03:25number one versus number two fight. I kind of,
- 1:03:30I agree and disagree because I don't, don't,
- 1:03:33please don't think I hate fucking Boots. Boots
- 1:03:36is a phenomenal fighter. Because you have that
- 1:03:39much faith in Virgil's offensive engine. I'm
- 1:03:44just saying I don't. It's an opinion thing at
- 1:03:46that point. Whether you see it as 1A, 1B, or
- 1:03:491 and 2. I see it as 2 and 2. Point is, these
- 1:03:53are the two best junior middleweights. I mean,
- 1:04:00we can only see when they fight, but I genuinely
- 1:04:02believe Virgil can take advantage of boots. Boots
- 1:04:06can 100 % take advantage of Virgil as well. So
- 1:04:07again, you could put this any way you want. That's
- 1:04:10why the fight's so exciting. It's exciting. There's
- 1:04:13so many scenarios. I think the biggest thing
- 1:04:16that will end up becoming relevant, whether we
- 1:04:20like it or not, will be activity. See, but that's
- 1:04:25the thing. That's the thing, though. Activity
- 1:04:28might, especially because I'm going to say, you
- 1:04:31know, spending all, like, Boots is always in
- 1:04:36camp. I will, like, he never even gets, he doesn't
- 1:04:39even get, like, skinny fat. He just doesn't,
- 1:04:41no fat on this guy, right? Like, he drinks fucking
- 1:04:45tuna. All he posts on social media is going for
- 1:04:49runs or sparring or hitting, like, This guy has
- 1:04:53no life. He's always at the gym. But he also,
- 1:04:56like, his recovery regimen is... Like, if you
- 1:04:59see it costed, it's expensive as fuck, but his
- 1:05:01recovery's great, too. He's not overtraining.
- 1:05:04Oh, yeah. But I feel like Virgil, God bless his
- 1:05:09soul, he spends an uncomfortable amount of the
- 1:05:12day either on Twitter or playing video games
- 1:05:14or playing Funko Pops. Or playing Funko Pops
- 1:05:17like Cletus Selvam. Playing in the Qatar, you
- 1:05:19know? That's what I'm saying. Like, he's playing,
- 1:05:21like... Everyone's allowed and entitled to their
- 1:05:25hobbies. I just think, you know, if it's visible
- 1:05:29to us, how much does it leak into the behind
- 1:05:32the scenes? Hey, stranger things happen, guys.
- 1:05:36Stranger things happen. Like, I'm not saying
- 1:05:40it's an Andy Ruiz case, but I'm saying it's very,
- 1:05:42like, it's not uncommon for a guy to, you know,
- 1:05:47especially when he's having promotional problems.
- 1:05:51really indulge his pastimes and kind of lose
- 1:05:57that extra bit of sharpness that made them...
- 1:06:00Maybe they come back at 99, 98%, but that percent
- 1:06:06is what made them great versus just very, very
- 1:06:10good. Mikey Garcia is the example I'll use. His
- 1:06:14promotional dispute with Top Rank, he didn't
- 1:06:18look the same after that. No. And I'm not going
- 1:06:23to say, no, I'm not going to say he looked bad,
- 1:06:25like as bad as he did with Sandor. I'm saying,
- 1:06:28you know, he spent two years out of the ring
- 1:06:32and, like, he still looked really, really good.
- 1:06:35But, you know, washing Lipinets and Broner, those
- 1:06:39probably could have been stoppages instead of
- 1:06:41wide decisions type 1 % sharpness. Can I... Oh,
- 1:06:50my God. Okay, sorry. I know this is, you know,
- 1:06:56not related to the topic. I just got to bring
- 1:06:58this up. I guess Ennis is not fighting Vendora.
- 1:07:02I did see that. I did read that as well. It's
- 1:07:06just in. Vendora's fighting who? An Albanian.
- 1:07:13Vendora's fighting... No fucking way. Pandora's
- 1:07:16fighting a WBC mandatory instead of Ennis. For
- 1:07:20the record, the WBC does not enforce mandatories
- 1:07:23unless they are sued. So there's no fucking way.
- 1:07:28There's no excuse for fighting your shitty mandatory
- 1:07:31if you have a WBC belt. There's no fucking...
- 1:07:38Yeah, we're moving on to this of what's next.
- 1:07:40What's next for Zaius is... Yeah, back in line,
- 1:07:44buddy. Get back. He's got to get back. Get back
- 1:07:46first. Back in line. Back in line. Madrimov is
- 1:07:50pretty free eats. Honestly, with Zayas, I could
- 1:07:55see him fighting a lot of, you know, top 10.
- 1:07:59Go Brandon Adams. Go Madrimov. Pretty free eats.
- 1:08:04You know what? You want to say fuck it and fight
- 1:08:05Bohochuk? Go fight Bohochuk. No, I say Brandon
- 1:08:09Adams for the ranking. Am I going to? Brandon
- 1:08:12Adams, you get back in line for the IBF. That's
- 1:08:15true. Five more to Zyliff. That's an easy fight
- 1:08:18to make. Back in line for the IBF. That's what
- 1:08:20I'm saying. Back in line because you're not going
- 1:08:24to get another shot at boots. I do want to glow
- 1:08:27a little bit. Oh, sorry. Go. Apparently, he has
- 1:08:30a rematch clause. It should not happen. No. No.
- 1:08:33He took a knee. He took a knee for a reason.
- 1:08:36I'm not saying he took the knee or anything.
- 1:08:38I'm saying. Okay, so Boots already knows everything
- 1:08:42you can give him. You gave Boots absolutely,
- 1:08:47like, overachieved everything you have, and he
- 1:08:50still beat your ass for six out of seven rounds.
- 1:08:53And your corner threw in the towel to avoid you
- 1:08:55getting even more of a beating. Let's give Boots
- 1:08:58another camp at 154 and some more time to really
- 1:09:03hone in on the things that bothered you. One
- 1:09:07thing, I'll tell you this. I want to gloat, okay?
- 1:09:10I was right about that knockdown being from a
- 1:09:13straight punch. Yeah. Zayas was getting hit all
- 1:09:16night with a damn straight. I just had to point
- 1:09:20that out. The jab in the first rounds was like,
- 1:09:22I didn't even know Boots had that. Oh, yeah,
- 1:09:25no. That was crazy. Like, the way he came out
- 1:09:28with that jab, I'm like, damn, he has that? What
- 1:09:32the fuck? Lomachenko? No, just the solid, like,
- 1:09:39rod down the middle. Geronchenko? From both stances
- 1:09:44was like, oh, my God. Because I know he's a lefty
- 1:09:47who fights orthodox. But from both stances, the
- 1:09:52jab that he could throw down the middle is like,
- 1:09:54oh. Damn. Yeah, like, I didn't know he had that.
- 1:10:00Watching booze is so much damn fun. Yeah. Like,
- 1:10:03it's not like, oh, this is an all -time great
- 1:10:06jab, but it's like, oh, my God. That's another
- 1:10:09thing to worry about on top of the pile of everything
- 1:10:13to worry about. Yeah. Hopefully, Zayas comes
- 1:10:18back from this, though. I want to see him again
- 1:10:20for sure. Zayas was spared from, yeah, he's,
- 1:10:23honestly, he did overperform. I do want to see
- 1:10:27him end with, you know. I don't want to see him
- 1:10:30in immediately with the top guys. Like, give
- 1:10:32me, like, Brandon Adams. Take a trip to Australia
- 1:10:35for one of the Siouxs. And you know what, too?
- 1:10:40I'll tell you this, too. Another thing. Zayas.
- 1:10:46I got to say it again. He got heart. And I guarantee
- 1:10:50he's gained so many fans from this. Myself included.
- 1:10:55I didn't expect him to be as durable. as tenacious
- 1:11:00as he was. That Puerto Rican heart. Yeah, he
- 1:11:04had a lot of heart. His chin, super tough. He's
- 1:11:07really tough. Corner saved him from himself.
- 1:11:12Even if he... He was kneeling, and then he saw
- 1:11:16his corner was going to pull the plug, and he
- 1:11:21didn't argue. So that, to me, is a sign of being
- 1:11:25coachable. And isn't quitting. Exactly. Isn't
- 1:11:29quitting. It's just, dude, like. Realizing it's
- 1:11:32over. Yeah, it's over. Your ass is getting, like,
- 1:11:35so, like, this is. He was getting smoked. This
- 1:11:39corner saved him. Yeah. This corner saved him
- 1:11:41from something career altering. Because Boots
- 1:11:43isn't, like, again, this is where we, the ego
- 1:11:46we talked about earlier. Boots ain't a guy who
- 1:11:48will go, like, you know, the fake, like, ref,
- 1:11:52step in here. Like, no, he's just going to keep
- 1:11:56caving you in. He's going to kill you. If he
- 1:11:59can, he will. He's going to kill you. He's Mr.
- 1:12:02Catch -a -body. He's a real Mr. Catch -a -body.
- 1:12:05So that's why I'm like, okay, it's not, and it
- 1:12:09wouldn't even be on purpose. He's trying to knock
- 1:12:10you out. If you just don't get knocked out, he's
- 1:12:13just going to keep going. And you know what,
- 1:12:15another thing too, I know it's kind of weird
- 1:12:17to bring up, but Zaius also took the loss with
- 1:12:20humility. I got to say that. You usually see,
- 1:12:24recently at least, when guys lose, they walk
- 1:12:26out the ring, they don't even get interviewed
- 1:12:28anymore. I don't mind that. I do not mind not
- 1:12:32interviewing a blatantly concussed guy. No, I
- 1:12:36agree. I do agree. I agree. It's a flaw the UFC
- 1:12:41heavily has where they'll be like, hey, you've
- 1:12:44just taken five years off your life. What's next?
- 1:12:49Like, recovery. Get back in the gym and get back
- 1:12:52in the cage and get five more years taken off
- 1:12:55my life. Look, look, but I gotta say that Xander,
- 1:12:59after the fight, he gave Boots his flowers and
- 1:13:02he spoke with humility. Like, yeah, he was a
- 1:13:04better man tonight. He was fantastic. But I'm
- 1:13:08gonna come back. I like it. It's a good spirit.
- 1:13:10I don't mind guys who make excuses. It means
- 1:13:13they haven't given up either. Exactly. There's
- 1:13:15a certain way of handling it that isn't... Like,
- 1:13:19because some guys, you can tell they've given
- 1:13:20up, they're done, when they're like, yeah, he's
- 1:13:22better. Here, it was very, like, you know, Zayas
- 1:13:27believes he can reach this again someday. Yes,
- 1:13:31he was ready. He's just got to reach it. I don't
- 1:13:35think he can, but that's me being a chud, because
- 1:13:37Ennis is that good. If he goes to middleweight,
- 1:13:41he'll dominate. I don't know where Adamas is
- 1:13:46going. He's been talking about, like, Adamas
- 1:13:49is probably the only guy at 160, I think, he
- 1:13:52doesn't have a shot against. But Adamas is going
- 1:13:56up, so. I don't know yet. If he's ducking Iglesias,
- 1:14:01then you're stuck at 160, buddy. I thought that
- 1:14:04was the fight he was going for. I know, but now
- 1:14:07he's like, oh, no one wants to fight me, so I'm
- 1:14:10going to stay at 160 on Twitter. Uh -oh. Iglesias
- 1:14:14was a little bit too eager. Yeah, I was going
- 1:14:17to say. Eye of the Tiger was like... Because
- 1:14:20Eye of the Tiger, especially now that they're
- 1:14:23getting a lot more dates, both at the casinos
- 1:14:26and at the Bell Center, because there's a lot...
- 1:14:28You know, all the artists went on tour last year,
- 1:14:30but this year there's a lot more free room at
- 1:14:33Sandra Bell. Because there's just less people
- 1:14:37touring. Yeah, they can fill in a date with Adamas
- 1:14:40Iglesias they're going to. A world title fight.
- 1:14:44World title fight between two champs for pretty
- 1:14:47cheap. Like, you're gonna feel that. Yeah. So
- 1:14:54I'm like, yeah, they're gonna... I have a feeling
- 1:14:58Iglesias said, yes, what do you need? And Adamas,
- 1:15:04like... Because I feel like Adamas as much...
- 1:15:07Love him to death in the ring because he's very
- 1:15:09good and very fun. I feel like he kind of likes
- 1:15:14the... Everyone's ducking me. for himself. Well,
- 1:15:21because, yeah, that makes him look like a boogeyman.
- 1:15:23I feel like he enjoys it, and Iglesias is, like,
- 1:15:27you know, everyone's ducking me. Shiraz and Abili
- 1:15:30don't want to fight me. I'm being blackballed
- 1:15:34from the world titles at 168. Like, the gimmick
- 1:15:37works great, and then Iglesias is so desperate
- 1:15:41for an opponent. Yeah, because then he looks
- 1:15:44too scary. Iglesias is fucking terrifying. I
- 1:15:47do not blame him either. This is not me being
- 1:15:49like, ah, look at the duck. This is just like,
- 1:15:51what did you expect? Of course Iglesias is going
- 1:15:57to say, yeah, bring it. Ask and you shall receive.
- 1:16:00Yeah, like, Iglesias needs opponents. And you
- 1:16:07are a credible one. And he's got a very solid
- 1:16:11fan base here in Canada. There are lots of guys,
- 1:16:17at least because I'm stationed in Ottawa. There's
- 1:16:20a bunch of guys I've met here in Ottawa that
- 1:16:23make the drive whenever Iglesias fights. But
- 1:16:26only when Iglesias fights. They don't like the
- 1:16:27Eye of the Tiger cards otherwise. It's weird.
- 1:16:36They don't even know Better BF's name, but Ozzy's
- 1:16:39Iglesias is on their watch list. Of course. And
- 1:16:43these are just, like, casual, like, coworkers.
- 1:16:46This isn't, like, guys who like boxing. This
- 1:16:49is guys who like going to events, like concerts
- 1:16:51and stuff. So, yeah, it's a little obvious that
- 1:16:56Adamas would end up. But as for middleweights
- 1:17:00that Zayas could beat, yeah, Lara is right there.
- 1:17:05You probably need to blow on him, and he will
- 1:17:08crumble to dust. He is that old. Yeah. But, you
- 1:17:17know, I was going to say, LeBron was still in
- 1:17:20his first stint with the Cavs when Laura was
- 1:17:23first fighting for world titles. I'm serious.
- 1:17:31LeBron was still on his rookie contract when
- 1:17:34Laura was first coming on the scene. So, you
- 1:17:40know, whatever it be. What are we doing at middleweight?
- 1:17:45But he should go to middleweight. Anyways, let's
- 1:17:50go to the ugly stepson of the weekend. All right.
- 1:17:56The bastard child. The last thing. Sunday, June
- 1:18:0028th, Zufa Boxing 8 on Paramount+. They finally
- 1:18:05stepped out. Well, in the US, they stepped out
- 1:18:07of the meta apex. The prelims were fine. We're
- 1:18:15going to go to the main portion of the card.
- 1:18:18Kane Sandoval beats Brandon Lee by majority decision.
- 1:18:23I think Brandon Lee beat himself more than anything.
- 1:18:29Oh, my God. Good, good, good. Good riddance.
- 1:18:34I've seen, I've seen, this is, this is the single
- 1:18:37guy I've seen the most, like, misplaced type
- 1:18:39about in my personal life and online. Like, I
- 1:18:48was talking about this before the podcast, but
- 1:18:51he's a, he's a boomer bust prospect who is a
- 1:18:54guaranteed bust. It was just a matter of when.
- 1:19:01But this is kind of a very sad place to have
- 1:19:04that bust occur on. I mean, he practically did
- 1:19:10before, like, who was it? Pedro Campa, I think
- 1:19:15it was, that had Brandon Lee on skates. Yep,
- 1:19:19and Madera knocked him down. So he had already
- 1:19:26busted for all intents and purposes. I just...
- 1:19:30I would have wanted to see at least, like, if
- 1:19:34you're a promoter who is, you know, all prospects
- 1:19:37are investments. I hate to say it. Like, yes,
- 1:19:42they're people, but they are ultimately investments.
- 1:19:44And you always want to prospect over an established
- 1:19:47older guy because of potential. But you would
- 1:19:50have wanted to cash Brandon Lee out because he
- 1:19:53is... I'm not going to say regrettably because
- 1:19:56he did do a great job on social media building
- 1:19:58up his fan base, but he has a fan base. You would
- 1:20:04have wanted to cash it out in something better
- 1:20:06than Zupa, but, you know, especially what was
- 1:20:12it at? This was at 147, but he did fight at 140.
- 1:20:16He did used to fight at 140. And with the time
- 1:20:19off, it wouldn't have been that big of a move.
- 1:20:22You could have gotten a paycheck with Hitchens,
- 1:20:25I feel. If you get past this hurdle, because
- 1:20:34he can make 140. He always showed up overly hydrated.
- 1:20:42The gimmick with this guy was always, yeah, I
- 1:20:46weigh like 143, but I'll weigh in at 140 when
- 1:20:49I get into the world rankings. I just didn't
- 1:20:52get into the world rankings, that is. But that
- 1:20:59was the whole gimmick with this guy. So I feel
- 1:21:01like if you maneuver him a bit better, you give
- 1:21:05him a guy a bit worse at 140, you really try
- 1:21:09and make 140, and then you have him fight Hitchens.
- 1:21:14At least that's a cash out, because you know,
- 1:21:19say what you will about Sandoval, he's not bad.
- 1:21:23He's the type of guy that the Brits, if he were
- 1:21:34Mexican, they'd send him to the UK and he'd win
- 1:21:36two WBA world titles. It's just a little disappointing
- 1:21:48to say the least. Omar Trinidad gets the UD over
- 1:21:56Jerwin on Cajas. Nothing for Jerwin to be ashamed
- 1:22:02of. He put up a hell of a fight. It was just...
- 1:22:05Like, his age was showing. The shopwear was showing.
- 1:22:11It's obvious that he's very much an established
- 1:22:15veteran type. Yeah. So, oh well. I was going
- 1:22:21to say, he's 34 and has been fighting since 2009
- 1:22:27at featherweight. And in the main event, Rayo
- 1:22:36Valenzuela knocks out Edwin De Los Santos in
- 1:22:40the second. Hilarious fight. Kind of a hilarious
- 1:22:49fight, hilarious ending, considering what happened
- 1:22:52in their first meeting. If we recall. Yeah. The
- 1:23:01obvious, like, Roy Jones Jr. hit on the ground
- 1:23:04that De Los Santos committed. Do we think it
- 1:23:09was as egregious as people are claiming in this
- 1:23:14fight? No. not at all i don't think so it kind
- 1:23:18of it kind of hit his shoulder it hit his shoulder
- 1:23:22i saw like really heavy slowdown unlike the de
- 1:23:25los santos one where he would he would have gone
- 1:23:29through the ropes if he missed um yeah good for
- 1:23:36rio though rio is just gonna i guess carve up
- 1:23:39and own zufa forever But, I don't know. What
- 1:23:46else does he do? You're gonna own Zufa with fucking
- 1:23:48limited competition? What else does he do? Fly
- 1:23:54Floyd Schofield? Oh my god. That would be...
- 1:23:59Valenzuela Schofield would actually be a great
- 1:24:02fight. Yeah. As for De Los Santos... I don't
- 1:24:12really care. Honestly. recycle him with the other
- 1:24:18lightweights. Does Zufa even keep him or do they
- 1:24:23just release him after this? I'm sure they'll
- 1:24:25keep him. He's still a recognizable name. That's
- 1:24:29true. I've been out on him since the Shakur fight.
- 1:24:36Oh god. This does not help. I'm not a big we
- 1:24:43throw away fighters based on one performance
- 1:24:45person. Because if that were true, then Shakur
- 1:24:48Stevenson would be in my forever hate watch for
- 1:24:51the Nakathalia fight. That fight was fucking
- 1:24:56dog... Like, nobody watched it. There's proof
- 1:24:58that no one watched him fight Jeremiah Nakathalia.
- 1:25:01Because that fight was fucking terrible. That
- 1:25:04was worse than the De Los Santos fight. But that
- 1:25:07being said... How De Los Santos behaved in that
- 1:25:10fight, specifically being an aggressive guy,
- 1:25:13just refusing to risk getting punched, basically.
- 1:25:18That's, like, I can't, I can't forgive that.
- 1:25:21Like, it was very Rancis Barthelemy -like. Okay,
- 1:25:25no, we're not going to Rancis Barthelemy. It
- 1:25:28is very Rancis Barthelemy -like. Yeah, but fuck
- 1:25:30Rancis. I know, that's why I hate De Los Santos
- 1:25:34for that. Like, that, because I'm like, okay.
- 1:25:37The Nakathalia fight was bad because it was basically,
- 1:25:40like, Shakur just pot -shotted for 12 rounds.
- 1:25:45And it was, like, kind of, like, it was bad to
- 1:25:48watch, but, like, it's no one's fault. That one
- 1:25:51was directly De Los Santos' fault for refusing
- 1:25:53to even dream of engaging. Like, everyone see...
- 1:26:01The low -light reel only focuses on Shakur leaping
- 1:26:06back towards the ropes, but why did De Los Santos
- 1:26:08not follow him? There's a second party here.
- 1:26:15I like Ryo a lot. Ryo's fun. But De Los Santos,
- 1:26:20the fact that in the biggest fight of his career,
- 1:26:24that's what he shows is you can't trust him.
- 1:26:31I don't know about you guys. I agree. I agree.
- 1:26:36Yeah, same. Like, it's very, like, Rancis Bartholomew
- 1:26:40actually wasn't perceived as that bad, and he
- 1:26:42was fighting a world title fight, but he just
- 1:26:44had the fight. You know what? You don't even
- 1:26:47know who he fought. You forget who he fought,
- 1:26:50right? But you know it's that fight. Robert Easter
- 1:26:53Jr. Oh, jeez. I remember that one now that you
- 1:26:57say it. Yeah, that's the fight. that like because
- 1:27:02he wasn't he wasn't that bad he was pretty like
- 1:27:04yeah he's a very he's a solid guy he's not great
- 1:27:06you know world champion at a weight class below
- 1:27:10and then the robert easter fight comes back and
- 1:27:14like you just cannot get behind this guy ever
- 1:27:16again like as a fan of the sport and i feel like
- 1:27:22it's the same way with de los santos we're like
- 1:27:25Yeah, I will chuckle a bit that you got knocked
- 1:27:29out like that on Zufa for a pack of potato chips.
- 1:27:36I'll chuckle a little bit at that. It's not...
- 1:27:42Because you know what? If he gave it a go in
- 1:27:44the first couple rounds, and then Shakur really
- 1:27:48puts that much of a bit of a masterclass on him
- 1:27:51that he has to kind of shrink, it's whatever.
- 1:27:54You... You at least had the will to be present.
- 1:27:58You made some semblance of an effort. Yeah, but
- 1:28:01this is the biggest fight of your career, and
- 1:28:03you put less of an effort. Like, you put no effort
- 1:28:07into this. Like, I can't... Like, how are we
- 1:28:11ever supposed to trust you? As, like, fans, as,
- 1:28:18you know, observers of the sport, how are we...
- 1:28:23It's just... It's really hard to get behind someone
- 1:28:25after such a... Because, you know, I've talked
- 1:28:28about negative fighters, but that is just...
- 1:28:30That is non -fighting. You are just not participating
- 1:28:32in the sport. So... Where he goes next is...
- 1:28:39I don't really care. I want to see more Ryo,
- 1:28:41though. He's fun. Let's keep it rolling because
- 1:28:47we still have the previews to get to. Let's...

- 1:32:11again um really quickly sunday july 12th top
- 1:32:16tier boxing on DAZN uh there is a whole bunch
- 1:32:22of going on on this card uh just there's nothing
- 1:32:28else this weekend there's very little this weekend
- 1:32:32so uh make peace with this Because that is almost
- 1:32:39as good as it gets. Go on. I was going to say,
- 1:32:47we're going to have the crowning of the next
- 1:32:48generation of heavyweight champion. We are. Saturday,
- 1:32:52July 11th, IBA Pro 19 at the VTB Arena in Moscow.
- 1:33:02We have... Two fights on, like, this is just
- 1:33:07the main three. Murad Kalidov versus Arslan Yalyaev.
- 1:33:14And Artem Suslenkov versus Joe Joyce. Imagine
- 1:33:20that shit. He's back. Man, Joe Joyce is being
- 1:33:23fed to an IBA prospect. How the mighty have fallen.
- 1:33:28The mighty? Mighty. Joe Joyce was rather mighty.
- 1:33:33It was just four years ago. That's true, he took
- 1:33:35out a current champion right now. Yeah, he's
- 1:33:39taking out a current champion. It was just four
- 1:33:41years ago that he was mighty. But he was mighty
- 1:33:44once. And now he's being fed to an IBA prospect.
- 1:33:49The Ji Lei Zhang experience. Oh, man. And main
- 1:33:54event. Murat Gassiev, the WBA heavyweight champion
- 1:33:59versus Tony Yoka. Oh my god, Gassiev. Finally,
- 1:34:07Gassiev does something. We've been poking him
- 1:34:09with a stick for eight years. Is that how long
- 1:34:14it's been since the WBSS? 2018 was when he fought
- 1:34:21Usyk. In one month, it will have been eight years
- 1:34:26since he fought Usyk. And then since then, we've
- 1:34:29been poking him with a stick to do anything.
- 1:34:35And we're finally at it. He will hopefully beat
- 1:34:38Tony Yoka, because if I have to say the words
- 1:34:40Tony Yoka Heavyweight World Championship, I may
- 1:34:42quit this podcast. Tony Yoka Heavyweight Champion
- 1:34:47before... Either one getting a heavyweight belt
- 1:34:52before Virgil even steps in the ring for a world
- 1:34:55title fight is comical. It's really funny. You
- 1:35:03know? But, you know, I don't know what Saul has
- 1:35:08to say about that. I'm like, hearing you react
- 1:35:15is making me want to fucking laugh like crazy.
- 1:35:18Because, are you fucking kidding me that in the
- 1:35:21big 2026, we're getting this fucking fight? If
- 1:35:28you had told me two years ago that I'd be seeing
- 1:35:30Kassiev and Tony Yoka fight for a belt, One of
- 1:35:35Usyk's belts. No less. And Usyk is vacating because
- 1:35:40he lost to a fucking, well not lost, but looked
- 1:35:43horrible against a fucking kickboxer. Exposed
- 1:35:45by a kickboxer? Exactly, yeah. He got exposed
- 1:35:49by a kickboxer. I call you fucking stupid. Oh
- 1:35:52my god. I need Gassif to win by highlight knockout.
- 1:35:57I just can't. I cannot do it with Tony Yoka being
- 1:36:00champ. The guy who chose to be suspended for
- 1:36:10a year instead of take a single drug test is
- 1:36:12like, I can't do this. We don't want this. It
- 1:36:20can't be. It cannot happen. You can't keep getting
- 1:36:24away with this? I think Yoka and Joe Joyce should
- 1:36:27lose and then fight each other. And then retire.
- 1:36:31Yeah, it's not happening. Yoka's 34. He's closer
- 1:36:35to retirement than you think. Yeah, but then
- 1:36:38I gotta retire after they become champ, though.
- 1:36:40He's not becoming champ. He's not becoming champ.
- 1:36:44It's not happening. He catches up against AJ.
- 1:36:48Boxing hates us. I cannot live in a world where
- 1:36:51Dave Allen fought a world champion. That would
- 1:36:56be pretty fucking funny, though. Imagine they
- 1:36:59do the rematch and Dave Allen wins. It's possible.
- 1:37:05That's kind of fun. It's possible. Don't do this
- 1:37:09to me. At one point, Dave Allen could have fought
- 1:37:13Usyk. Dave Allen probably could have fought Anthony
- 1:37:17Joshua. I can't believe our listeners thought
- 1:37:20we would give him two weeks without a Dave Allen
- 1:37:23mention. No. I'm so glad he came out of retirement
- 1:37:28after Usyk knocked him out in sparring. It's
- 1:37:34a real thing. He was actually asleep. I'm so
- 1:37:41glad he came back. It makes me so, so happy he
- 1:37:44came back. He sucks so bad. I love it. I love
- 1:37:53heavyweights. But you know what? That's the level
- 1:38:00of boxing we have this weekend. overall. Actually,
- 1:38:06we talked about top tier. It's light. It's a
- 1:38:11light, light weekend. Go for a walk Sunday. Yeah,
- 1:38:18seriously. You don't need to be spending your
- 1:38:21time on top tier. Chances are we're not going
- 1:38:23to recap it. Like the IBA card? Cool. Heavyweight
- 1:38:27champions. Just heavyweights. They're fun. It'll
- 1:38:30be fun. There'll be some knockouts on this card.
- 1:38:33Whatever. I can't. I just can't do the other
- 1:38:38one. I can't. It's like Sunday's light. You should
- 1:38:42go for a walk. You know, hug some family members.
- 1:38:45Take your dog out. Yeah. Go for a run. Yeah.
- 1:38:54Go fight a homeless person. Make your own boxing.
- 1:39:04Allegedly. On Roblox and Minecraft. Well, that's
- 1:39:17all we got. We are heading into IBA Pro 19 weekend.
- 1:39:25But we're still glowing in Jaron Ennis' victory.
- 1:39:32Over Xander Zayas. Parting words. Let's go, Virgil.
- 1:39:40Let's go, Scofield. Oh, my God. My classic motto.
- 1:39:46Call the number and tell Saul that Virgil will
- 1:39:49never win a world title. How about you come on
- 1:39:52here to beat me yourself, you fucking bitch?
- 1:39:58And you know who I'm talking to. My arch nemesis.
- 1:40:03The fat one or the other one? No, the other one.
- 1:40:07The other one. The one that was too scared to
- 1:40:09bait me over Berlanga. Oh my God. The big one's
- 1:40:16my friend. Yeah. Dude, I'm watching the fat one
- 1:40:21talk about Errol Spence in the year 2026. Anyways.
- 1:40:30All right. That is it for this edition of the
- 1:40:34Boxing B -Sides. We will see you on the other
- 1:40:36side of Tony Yoka Champ before Virgil. I hope
- 1:40:44that doesn't happen. I hope that doesn't happen.
- 1:40:47Please, please, please. I can't have it happen.
- 1:40:51Oh, my God. I'm going to kill myself if it happens.
- 1:40:54I can't. Genuinely, just that. I think that is
- 1:40:58the, like. One of my last potential last straws
- 1:41:02that I just can't deal with. Why should a boxing
- 1:41:19fan watch MMA? Okay, here's my pitch. The reason
- 1:41:26that a boxing... fan would consider watching
- 1:41:28mma in the year of our lord 2026 is that mma
- 1:41:31is cheaper and more accessible than it's ever
- 1:41:34been in its lifetime our biggest organization
- 1:41:37the ufc has done away with pay -per -views it's
- 1:41:40now just like a 15 month payment to paramount
- 1:41:43plus and you get 40 plus fight cards a year and
- 1:41:49it's not just the ufc you have organizations
- 1:41:52like 1fc and ryzen that put stuff directly on
- 1:41:56youtube for free to watch and you're able to
- 1:42:00see a wide variety of high level skills like
- 1:42:03this is not just like amateur or unless we're
- 1:42:06talking about the heavyweight division but boxing
- 1:42:09fans can relate to uh the gap of skill there
- 1:42:11um you know these are some of the most talented
- 1:42:14athletes in the world and they're fighting especially
- 1:42:17if i can point out the muay thai stuff that happens
- 1:42:20in 1fc it's phenomenal Another reason that a
- 1:42:24boxing fan would want this, would want to jump
- 1:42:26in now, is that I think unlike a lot of the cards
- 1:42:30you're used to watching in boxing, MMA cards
- 1:42:34are worth watching from the start. Like, you
- 1:42:37don't have to wait until the co -main to see
- 1:42:39something that isn't complete nerd shit most
- 1:42:42of the times. You're seeing, even if it's a lower
- 1:42:45skill ceiling, you're still seeing fights that
- 1:42:50are exciting and compelling to watch. We just
- 1:42:54came off the backs of UFC 327 and that card top
- 1:42:57to bottom was like absolutely stacked. So great
- 1:43:01example. You can watch the whole thing for, you
- 1:43:05know, in bits and pieces or from start to finish
- 1:43:08in Paramount Plus right now if you subscribe.
- 1:43:09So Paramount, give us some money. We're doing
- 1:43:12marketing for you. So that would be my pitch.
- 1:43:16Perfect. If you do decide to give MMA a shot,
- 1:43:19then why don't you check out Ultimate F 'n Casuals?
- 1:43:21It's kind of the same format. We talked the fights
- 1:43:24that happened the past weekend and then the stuff
- 1:43:26coming up this weekend. Give it a shot. It's
- 1:43:29Ultimate F 'n Casuals.
