- 1:19Speaker 1: I want to read from past guests, people who have
- 1:21Speaker 1: been on the show. I thought that let people know
- 1:23Speaker 1: what people think of the show when they come on
- 1:25Speaker 1: the show. DearS Rushawan MacDonald to say I'm forever grateful

- 1:50Speaker 1: There's a lot of tax services been known over the
- 1:52Speaker 1: years and she's been on Money Making Conversations several times
- 1:56Speaker 1: as a guest. Here's another one from doctor Sherry Collier.
- 1:59Speaker 1: She has a company called Personality Matters. I want to
- 2:02Speaker 1: take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for having
- 2:06Speaker 1: me on your show. Money Making Conversations Podcasts discussing success, coaching,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and organizational psychology, which you was not only a pleasure,
- 2:15Speaker 1: but also a truly enriching experience. Your insightful questions and
- 2:20Speaker 1: engaging conversation style made it easy to dive into the
- 2:23Speaker 1: nuances of personal and organizational growth. It's clear you have
- 2:27Speaker 1: a genuine passion for empowering others and that energy is
- 2:31Speaker 1: incredibly contagious. Thank you for the opportunity to share your
- 2:34Speaker 1: perspective and connect with your audience. I'm hopeful that our
- 2:38Speaker 1: discussion will inspire and motivate many to pursue their paths
- 2:42Speaker 1: to success with confidence and determination. One regards. Thanks so
- 2:47Speaker 1: much for the opportunity to connect with you. You're amazing,
- 2:49Speaker 1: so authentic, You're making a difference, and I'm so thankful
- 2:53Speaker 1: to have met you. That's from doctor Sherrick Collier, who
- 2:57Speaker 1: has a company down in the Atlanta area called Personality Margands.
- 3:00Speaker 1: She's the CEO. She was on the show, and these
- 3:02Speaker 1: are people who come on the show and I thought
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'd read something or get them all the time and
- 3:05Speaker 1: send them something. Let me just start sharing it with
- 3:07Speaker 1: my audience and let them get a clear understanding. You
- 3:10Speaker 1: know what's going on and We'll be there for a
- 3:13Speaker 1: long inter short run because what we do with Money
- 3:15Speaker 1: Making Conversation master Class is present a platform, and the
- 3:19Speaker 1: platform is you as an individual who listens. I said,
- 3:23Speaker 1: phone calls. Some people don't call, some people do call.
- 3:26Speaker 1: People do call. We answer the calls live on the
- 3:28Speaker 1: air with the guests, and we try to provide information.
- 3:31Speaker 1: But I've learned that I have a show where people
- 3:35Speaker 1: just listen and drive, or listening to the Holls cooking,
- 3:37Speaker 1: or just listening at the house sipping on their coffee,
- 3:40Speaker 1: just listening at the house eating because they just enjoy
- 3:44Speaker 1: the information that we are pouring into them, the information
- 3:47Speaker 1: of success, the information of being able to know that
- 3:50Speaker 1: you can pursue your dreams. All you need is just
- 3:53Speaker 1: a plan, a plan of action, and you can win.
- 3:56Speaker 1: How can you win? Rashan? I always tell people that quote.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I mean it, stopped reading other people's success stories and
- 4:05Speaker 1: start playing your own. I've been doing that since I
- 4:08Speaker 1: was eighteen years old. Somebody poured into me the rashon
- 4:13Speaker 1: you can be different. Rashan, you can believe in your dreams.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Hear me clearing that, Rashan, you can believe in your dreams.
- 4:23Speaker 1: They poured that into me, and when they did, it
- 4:26Speaker 1: made the difference in my life. And that's why I'm
- 4:28Speaker 1: on the show today. I'm just telling you about the
- 4:30Speaker 1: difference that people can make in your life, and I
- 4:32Speaker 1: want to be that difference maker. That's all doctor Dr
- 4:36Speaker 1: Cherry Collier was saying. She was saying, Rashan, you brought
- 4:39Speaker 1: me on the show and I've never met her before,
- 4:41Speaker 1: or that I went to an event and I met
- 4:43Speaker 1: her and she came on the show. And when she
- 4:46Speaker 1: came on the show, her general purpose was to talk
- 4:48Speaker 1: about her brand, but I could tell she was feeling
- 4:52Speaker 1: her way through the whole conversation. But in the second
- 4:54Speaker 1: half she got comfortable and she started dropping them nuggets,
- 4:57Speaker 1: them nuggets on everybody and start going Wow, the wisdom
- 5:02Speaker 1: of what she can bring to the table. And that's
- 5:04Speaker 1: what I try to do. I try to bring people
- 5:05Speaker 1: and ask them to share their lives, and when they
- 5:07Speaker 1: share their lives, then able to be able to communicate
- 5:10Speaker 1: with people in general. On my show, Money Making Conversations Masterclass,
- 5:14Speaker 1: a show I started in twenty seventeen, A show I
- 5:17Speaker 1: started in twenty seventheen. I didn't know where it was
- 5:19Speaker 1: going to go I didn't know why I was doing it.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I just knew I had to do it because over
- 5:23Speaker 1: the years, so many people that have always asked me
- 5:26Speaker 1: for my opinion have always asked me for advice about
- 5:31Speaker 1: why are you doing this show? Money Making Conversations Rashwan,
- 5:34Speaker 1: you're successful. First of all, you have to define what
- 5:38Speaker 1: success is and you have to also define money. What
- 5:42Speaker 1: is your pool of money? A million dollars maybe a
- 5:45Speaker 1: lot of money to some people. A million dollars may
- 5:48Speaker 1: not be no money for some people, and so you
- 5:50Speaker 1: have to gauge what is your goal for success. When
- 5:54Speaker 1: you listen to my show, when you have goals, then
- 5:57Speaker 1: you can win. And when you can win big, I'm
- 6:00Speaker 1: talking about ruin big. It means you surrounded yourself with
- 6:05Speaker 1: a pool of people who have the same like minded goal.
- 6:10Speaker 1: That's key. Do not surround yourself with people who don't
- 6:14Speaker 1: have your goals, or your beliefs or your dreams as
- 6:20Speaker 1: being possible. You've been around these people telling you has
- 6:25Speaker 1: a bad idea, telling you you was or wasting your time.
- 6:32Speaker 1: These are the people that tell you and they complain
- 6:36Speaker 1: all the time. I call these people just angry people
- 6:39Speaker 1: for no reason at all. Just angry, just jump out
- 6:44Speaker 1: there and when they don't have when it doesn't work
- 6:47Speaker 1: for them, then they want to hold everybody else. Oh
- 6:49Speaker 1: I've done that. I went out there. Girl. You don't
- 6:52Speaker 1: want to do that. Boy, you don't understand what's waiting
- 6:55Speaker 1: on you out there, No you don't. But you better
- 6:58Speaker 1: have a plan to have mentors, You better have relationships.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You better understand that it may not start as quickly
- 7:07Speaker 1: as you think it will start. So how do you
- 7:10Speaker 1: how do you get past these people? Sean you ignore them,
- 7:17Speaker 1: ignore ignorance. I'm afraid staying ahead of the ignorance. And
- 7:22Speaker 1: that's all I want to do. I want anybody listen
- 7:25Speaker 1: to me. When people talk stupid to you, go death,
- 7:30Speaker 1: act like you and had a moment in life that
- 7:34Speaker 1: you can't understand nothing they're saying, and just start dancing away.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Just start dancing away, and they'll leave you alone because
- 7:41Speaker 1: they thank you. Something wrong with you, because there's something
- 7:44Speaker 1: wrong with you because you're not listening to them. No
- 7:46Speaker 1: more their stupidity, no more. But we're gonna get this
- 7:49Speaker 1: show rollerm because the fact that but I have to
- 7:52Speaker 1: drop them nuggative on. You have to share some information.
- 7:55Speaker 1: These two emails because sometimes you got to hear how
- 7:57Speaker 1: I think why I'm doing this show, but also why
- 8:00Speaker 1: I'm not doing this show because I have a lot
- 8:01Speaker 1: of great guests come on this show. And I'm about
- 8:03Speaker 1: to introduce my next guest. He is a Super Bowl
- 8:06Speaker 1: champion and former first round draft pick of the New
- 8:09Speaker 1: England Patriots. He's retired now and flipping and renovating homes.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I need this brother in my life. Please work with
- 8:16Speaker 1: the money making conversation masterclass, Dominique easily. How you doing, sir?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Hey, how you doing? Man?
- 8:22Speaker 3: How's everything pretty good?
- 8:23Speaker 1: Dominique? You know, a first round draft pick? Man?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I appreciate that. It was a blessing. It
- 8:31Speaker 2: was a blessing.
- 8:31Speaker 1: No, Dominique. You know, we just came off the big draft. Okay,
- 8:35Speaker 1: you walked across one of them stages like that.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Man, Nah, I didn't. So I'm from New York, so
- 8:42Speaker 2: I decided not to go, yeah and just enjoy it
- 8:47Speaker 2: with my family.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay. Now, years later, do you regret not doing walking
- 8:52Speaker 1: across that stage?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Honestly?
- 8:54Speaker 3: Nah?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Because it was kind of it was better hanging out
- 8:57Speaker 2: with my family. Okay, because I come from a small town,
- 9:00Speaker 2: not the where. Yes, a lot of us don't go nowhere. Yes, sir,
- 9:02Speaker 2: good to be with him.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Awesome. Well, congratulations man, the congratulations being the Super Bowl champ.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Congratulations on being the first round draft pick. But let's
- 9:10Speaker 1: talk about you before we get into what you're doing. Now.
- 9:13Speaker 1: You know what college did you go to? University of Florida,
- 9:17Speaker 1: University down there?
- 9:19Speaker 2: There was it, Gators, right, Yep, yep, that was a Gator.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Okay. Any any famous players that you played with that
- 9:25Speaker 1: I would know about when you.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Was in school, I don't know. I don't know if
- 9:29Speaker 2: you know Sharif Floyd, Uh, Malcolm I'm uh.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Matt Elam, Yes, sir, yes, Sir Jenkins, Oh, absolutely, John
- 9:39Speaker 3: John Bostic, Mac Brown, Matt Jones play with a couple.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Of you down that doing your thing.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Because Matt Jones was the quarterback, right, No, no, Matt Jones,
- 9:53Speaker 3: he was the running back.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I know what you talking about.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Not that one, okay, cool, I apologize for that mistake.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Now we talked about a football career. Okay, your first
- 10:03Speaker 1: round draft pick in the NFL. They're gonna throw a
- 10:07Speaker 1: big contract on you, which is great. But when you
- 10:10Speaker 1: got in the league, what was your thought process? Were
- 10:12Speaker 1: you thinking about playing five years, ten years, or were
- 10:16Speaker 1: you thinking about just playing? And what even thinking about
- 10:20Speaker 1: what you're gonna do with your money. Let's talk about
- 10:22Speaker 1: that because that's a lot of time because I read
- 10:25Speaker 1: a lot of articles how athletes in general get the
- 10:28Speaker 1: money and they kind of mess up with the money.
- 10:32Speaker 1: And so how to tell us your journey when you
- 10:34Speaker 1: got into the league?
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it was it was ain't a lot.
- 10:40Speaker 1: It was.
- 10:41Speaker 2: It was different. It was it was new. You know,
- 10:44Speaker 2: I was, what twenty one coming some money? I didn't.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I didn't really know what I wanted to do outside
- 10:50Speaker 2: of playing football. So it was all a new experience
- 10:52Speaker 2: for me. But my first purchase. I always told myself
- 10:55Speaker 2: I was gonna buy either a house or call for
- 10:58Speaker 2: my mom, and I was fortunate enough to do both.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And when you were fortunately do both? How many years
- 11:03Speaker 1: did you play in the league?
- 11:05Speaker 2: Wow?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Five years? Was it an injury that took you out
- 11:09Speaker 1: or you just decided to retire? What? Who it took
- 11:12Speaker 1: you out of the league.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I could say it was injuries, but it was also
- 11:17Speaker 2: I got five kids, three boys, two girls. Uh huh,
- 11:20Speaker 2: So I wanted to be at the age of forty,
- 11:22Speaker 2: I wanted to be able to run around with them,
- 11:24Speaker 2: you know, still be able to play football, to still
- 11:26Speaker 2: be able to play basketball, and take them through the
- 11:29Speaker 2: type of trainings that I went through, you know what
- 11:31Speaker 2: I mean, to be able to give them that type
- 11:33Speaker 2: of energy, in that type of heart, to be able
- 11:36Speaker 2: to play with their opponents.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But you know, just is an example, like I see
- 11:41Speaker 1: Joel and Bee's like he plays for the seventy six ers.
- 11:44Speaker 1: You know he's still out there playing. He got this
- 11:46Speaker 1: giant ice pack on his knee. I have to believe
- 11:49Speaker 1: that he's going to pay a price for that when
- 11:53Speaker 1: he gets older. Am I correctness saying that based on
- 11:55Speaker 1: the fact that you said, Rashan, I wanted to be
- 11:57Speaker 1: able to play with my kids when I was forty.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I want to run around. Would I want to get
- 12:01Speaker 1: on the ground to be able to get up. I
- 12:02Speaker 1: want to be able to kneel down and not have
- 12:04Speaker 1: to lean on a piece of furniture to get back up.
- 12:06Speaker 1: That's what you're talking.
- 12:07Speaker 2: About, right, Yeah, what I did because I was I
- 12:10Speaker 2: had sixteen surgeries in three acls.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Mm hm.
- 12:14Speaker 2: You know, so I know I'm gonna be feeling the
- 12:16Speaker 2: pain a little bit sooner. Than I'm supposed to write.
- 12:20Speaker 2: So I wanted to be able to, you know, get
- 12:22Speaker 2: my health back right right, you know, hopefully hopefully with
- 12:25Speaker 2: what I'm doing, how I'm taking care of myself, I
- 12:27Speaker 2: won't feel that pain because I'm not beating up my
- 12:29Speaker 2: body no more.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Because you understand your body now, because that's that's the key. Now,
- 12:34Speaker 1: just talking I have on this show also have a
- 12:36Speaker 1: fitness person coming on and interviewing them later. What do
- 12:39Speaker 1: you do? You know, you you play it at a
- 12:41Speaker 1: high level athletic level, when you lead the game, what
- 12:46Speaker 1: do you do physically and mentally? Do you just like
- 12:49Speaker 1: just let your body go? You tied up there the routine?
- 12:53Speaker 1: How do you and then how do you how do you?
- 12:56Speaker 1: I guess transition, it's I.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Ain't a lot. It's hard, Like when I first got out.
- 13:02Speaker 2: You know, you stay working out because you just want to.
- 13:05Speaker 2: You want to you want to be able to stay
- 13:08Speaker 2: in shape. But it's not the same environment that you
- 13:11Speaker 2: used to working out and you know, like we're used
- 13:13Speaker 2: to working out at not at regular gyms. So it's
- 13:16Speaker 2: it's hard, you know. So it's right now, I say
- 13:20Speaker 2: I lost a bunch of weight, So I lost about
- 13:23Speaker 2: forty pounds after I started playing because I ate, I
- 13:26Speaker 2: started eating differently. I became a prescotarian. But I'm back
- 13:28Speaker 2: eating regularly. But it's it's definitely much harder to stay
- 13:32Speaker 2: as active as you was. I gotta still play basketball,
- 13:35Speaker 2: you know from New York.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I just because you're New York man, that don't mean
- 13:42Speaker 1: you can play basketball. Come on, now, you're talking like
- 13:44Speaker 1: Steven A. Smith.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you you're right about that, don't mean that, but
- 13:48Speaker 2: look I can't do that.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Well good, good, Well, you know, I just wanted to
- 13:53Speaker 1: like get started on you. Let everybody know because when
- 13:55Speaker 1: we come back, we're going to talk about what you're
- 13:57Speaker 1: doing now. Because if i'm if I'm correctly your contractor,
- 14:01Speaker 1: you're out there doing remodeling. You're flipping homes and you're
- 14:05Speaker 1: changing people's lives, putting smiles on their face with your
- 14:07Speaker 1: new skill, not your football skill, but your contracting skills.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Is that correctly, yes, sir? Yeah, I've been blessed to
- 14:14Speaker 2: get into something that I love to do.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Again, well good, When we.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Would come back, we're gonna talk to mus Dominic easily
- 14:19Speaker 1: and his contracting skills. The Super Bowl champion. See, we
- 14:22Speaker 1: have a super Bowl champion out there changing people's lives,
- 14:25Speaker 1: rebuilding homes. Now he will knocking people overnight, knocking out walls.
- 14:29Speaker 4: Please don't go anywhere. We'll be right back with more
- 14:32Speaker 4: money Making Conversations Masterclass. Welcome back to the Money Making
- 14:43Speaker 4: Conversations Masterclass hosted by Rashaan McDonald. Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 14:49Speaker 4: continues online at Moneymakingconversations dot com and follow money Making
- 14:53Speaker 4: Conversations Masterclass on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- 14:58Speaker 1: He's a former first round draft of the New England Patriots.
- 15:01Speaker 1: He's a Super Bowl champion. If you are watching that
- 15:04Speaker 1: game where Russell Wilson threw that touchdown and in his
- 15:10Speaker 1: own when they should have gave it the ball to
- 15:13Speaker 1: the beast he was playing in that game, he went
- 15:18Speaker 1: from like holy macro to we are champions all in
- 15:22Speaker 1: one play. That that was a feeling. I'm sure it was.
- 15:25Speaker 1: You still live to this day. That's a moment in
- 15:27Speaker 1: your life. You will never forget, right, Dominique.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yeah, because we all in the world never expected that
- 15:32Speaker 2: to happen.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Tell the truth, to tell the truth now absolutely. Now
- 15:39Speaker 1: let's talk about you, my friend transitioning. Okay, first round
- 15:42Speaker 1: draft pick, played five years is Rashwan. Sixteen surgeries, three
- 15:46Speaker 1: a cl injuries. Is enough? Is enough? I want to
- 15:50Speaker 1: have a life with my kids, you know, I want
- 15:52Speaker 1: to You know, this star power, I can probably get
- 15:54Speaker 1: back out there one more time. But well, what does
- 15:57Speaker 1: the future look like? When did that who and your
- 16:00Speaker 1: life started to get into your head making you believe
- 16:03Speaker 1: it was time to transition.
- 16:06Speaker 2: I mean, it was just my body for I wouldn't
- 16:08Speaker 2: even say it was somebody. It was just a feeling
- 16:10Speaker 2: in my body. After that last injury, I just knew
- 16:13Speaker 2: it was gonna be that time for me to, you know,
- 16:16Speaker 2: put them up and really start focusing on finding myself
- 16:20Speaker 2: and who I wanted to be after this life.
- 16:24Speaker 1: How did you find yourself.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Just really trying everything. I'm not gonna lie like I tried.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I was fortunate enough to try a bunch of different things.
- 16:33Speaker 2: I went into fintech, edguitech, created a financial literacy with
- 16:38Speaker 2: the mother of my kids. I started flying planes. I
- 16:42Speaker 2: got thirteen hours in the air. I tried to play guitar.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I also have I recently won my cannabis license, my
- 16:50Speaker 2: cannabis cultivation license up in New Jersey, so simpler than that,
- 16:55Speaker 2: And then got married came to Georgia and I always
- 17:00Speaker 2: love real estate, always heard about it, but never really
- 17:02Speaker 2: you know, had the the trust in myself to do it,
- 17:06Speaker 2: I want to say in other people, but in myself
- 17:09Speaker 2: as far as the knowledge to be able to do it.
- 17:11Speaker 2: So came to Georgia, got my real estate license, and
- 17:14Speaker 2: now hooked up with somebody who was doing real good
- 17:17Speaker 2: as far as the contractor invested into that. And now
- 17:19Speaker 2: we got a construction company and doing flick fix and flip.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Now you see, you make that sound so smooth. You
- 17:25Speaker 1: see that sounds so smooth. That sounds so easy, Dominique.
- 17:27Speaker 1: You know, I did a little fintech, you know, we shine.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I got me a cannabis license up there in the
- 17:33Speaker 1: New Jersey area. Then I got me a real estate
- 17:36Speaker 1: license and that brother, look at I'm knocking down walls.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I'm doing it. But it's not that easy. If there's
- 17:43Speaker 1: some there are some setbacks emotionally for you along the
- 17:46Speaker 1: way that make you believe that this is not the path.
- 17:49Speaker 1: That's why I was talking to people about paths, because,
- 17:52Speaker 1: like you said, you did the fintech you did, the
- 17:54Speaker 1: cannabis is still an option, because that's a that's a
- 17:57Speaker 1: money making venture. Word. First of all, getting the license loan,
- 18:00Speaker 1: it's a tough task. Now that you have it, that's
- 18:03Speaker 1: a I always tell people about multiple streams of income,
- 18:06Speaker 1: that's what that is. But the real estate license, when
- 18:09Speaker 1: did that get into your head? Real estate?
- 18:12Speaker 2: Really? I mean, like I said, real estate has always
- 18:15Speaker 2: been a love of mine. But I love like so me.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I loved the game of monopolies. I always loved real estate,
- 18:20Speaker 2: but just never really trusted my knowledge to actually get
- 18:25Speaker 2: into real estate. So that's why when I came to Georgia,
- 18:27Speaker 2: I had to I had to build my knowledge. That's
- 18:30Speaker 2: when I decided to get my real estate license. I
- 18:33Speaker 2: took a ten week class. It took every day for
- 18:37Speaker 2: the next ten days, and just study study, took the
- 18:40Speaker 2: class and took the test, passed it once, and then
- 18:42Speaker 2: took the state testing and passed it and then really
- 18:44Speaker 2: just dove all into it.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Now, Now, what is what's what? What's what's your measurement?
- 18:49Speaker 1: So you like it was six what and how many powers?
- 18:54Speaker 2: I was six to one about we're talking about right now?
- 18:58Speaker 1: No that when you were taking the real estate liights,
- 19:00Speaker 1: cause I want I won't to see everybody takes much.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Why are you are you selling homes?
- 19:06Speaker 2: No? I was, yeah, no, everybody everybody was really was
- 19:11Speaker 2: really surprised, right right.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Right because you know, because you know what, I love
- 19:16Speaker 1: that because everybody stereotypes what somebody should look like. So
- 19:21Speaker 1: you six, one, two, fifty people looking at you, going
- 19:25Speaker 1: you selling homes to who? And that's and so you
- 19:28Speaker 1: had to break through that. Now you did that. But
- 19:32Speaker 1: when did the like you said, the love you found
- 19:34Speaker 1: your love, man, football was a love. Then this whole
- 19:38Speaker 1: contract and became a love. Talk about how you win?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Did it went it to that lane?
- 19:44Speaker 2: So really really it became a love once. I once
- 19:47Speaker 2: I actually went through a full I guess term property,
- 19:52Speaker 2: meaning from the beginning to the end, and then seeing
- 19:54Speaker 2: somebody go inside and actually keep it functional because you
- 19:58Speaker 2: also do commercial as well. So being able to see
- 20:02Speaker 2: those immediate results and then see the longevity of the
- 20:06Speaker 2: results really just like made me love it, just like football,
- 20:10Speaker 2: because that's the same thing with football. When we practice,
- 20:13Speaker 2: we see immedia results and we see media failures, so
- 20:16Speaker 2: we're able to correct those results. That's in the same
- 20:18Speaker 2: thing when it comes to construction, the actual I guess
- 20:23Speaker 2: process of construction. You know you can see other people's work,
- 20:26Speaker 2: you can see how good you are. So those are
- 20:30Speaker 2: to me, those are those are great ways to you know,
- 20:33Speaker 2: I guess, value yourself and see how you're doing.
- 20:36Speaker 1: You know, that's really great that you're saying that. And
- 20:38Speaker 1: I want to bring that back up because I always
- 20:40Speaker 1: tell people by goals and short term goals and long
- 20:44Speaker 1: term goals, and like I would tell people get frustrated
- 20:46Speaker 1: by college education because that can be a long term goal.
- 20:49Speaker 1: You know, four years. You can't see the end, you know.
- 20:52Speaker 1: And so but what I like about you is that
- 20:55Speaker 1: you said, Rashan, look football practice, play a game on
- 20:59Speaker 1: the weekend. You find out want to lose the results.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Then you got into construction, the same principles came in
- 21:09Speaker 1: the way. It might be a week, it might be
- 21:11Speaker 1: two weeks, it might be a month, but you saw
- 21:14Speaker 1: the results. When you start seeing the results, the consistency
- 21:19Speaker 1: is what made you realize this is delay that I
- 21:23Speaker 1: could be happy in correct.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yep, exactly exactly. And that's and I would say the
- 21:30Speaker 2: results in the failure because me, I'm more of like
- 21:33Speaker 2: a failure kind of guy. I love motivation off of
- 21:37Speaker 2: failing because now I'm able to see where I can
- 21:39Speaker 2: be and then after I complete that failure. Now, now
- 21:43Speaker 2: you're gonna hear me. You're gonna hear me based on
- 21:47Speaker 2: my hard work, to give us.
- 21:49Speaker 1: An example of that. Can you share an example of that, Dominic,
- 21:52Speaker 1: you said failure motivates me. You're not saying, You're not
- 21:56Speaker 1: trying to put you on the spot, But I want
- 21:57Speaker 1: to show an example because I believe that. I believe
- 22:00Speaker 1: that failure is important.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'll give you an example. Right. So, when
- 22:04Speaker 2: I first got into the league, I had opportunities, specifically
- 22:09Speaker 2: when I played for the Patriots, the conflict that I
- 22:13Speaker 2: moved into. I knew the I knew the developer. The
- 22:16Speaker 2: developer wanted to work with me. But I was one young.
- 22:21Speaker 2: I wasn't I didn't have the mindset that I do now,
- 22:24Speaker 2: So I wasn't able to see the opportunities that I
- 22:26Speaker 2: was that I had in front of me. Right, So,
- 22:28Speaker 2: for me, that's failing at being open minded, that's feeling
- 22:32Speaker 2: that trying new things, that are feeling that not being
- 22:35Speaker 2: able to capture that opportunity when it was given to you.
- 22:38Speaker 2: So now now that opportunity has come back in my
- 22:42Speaker 2: face a different way with the partner that I'm working
- 22:44Speaker 2: with in the construction. Now I'm able to see that
- 22:48Speaker 2: and you know, just go for it. And now that
- 22:50Speaker 2: has worked out to the point where now we own
- 22:52Speaker 2: a construction company, you know, So that that's more of
- 22:55Speaker 2: like long term failure when you're talking about immediate failure.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Me just I talk you about just the other week, right,
- 23:03Speaker 2: I was taking out quarter arounds doing something, and the
- 23:06Speaker 2: construction was taking out quart around but I forgot to
- 23:08Speaker 2: cut the quarter around.
- 23:09Speaker 1: So I pulled off what's the quarter around? What is that?
- 23:11Speaker 2: What is that quarter arounds? That piece of it can
- 23:15Speaker 2: either be wood or plastic at the end, at the
- 23:17Speaker 2: end of your baseball, at the bottom of your baseboard.
- 23:20Speaker 2: So when I was pulling it off, I pulled off
- 23:22Speaker 2: a bunch of tape. I pulled off a bunch of pink.
- 23:25Speaker 2: The customer complained, realized I did it wrong. Now I
- 23:28Speaker 2: seem completely fail I've seen my failure right then and there. Right,
- 23:31Speaker 2: I was able to face that. And then next week
- 23:34Speaker 2: I had to do the same thing. Now I knew
- 23:36Speaker 2: not to do that. I made sure I cut every
- 23:37Speaker 2: single piece, you know, So I like that type of stuff.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Now when the customer Caup complained, how did you handle that?
- 23:44Speaker 1: Because it's important people need to understand that, you know
- 23:46Speaker 1: those values, the customer is always right. How did you
- 23:48Speaker 1: handle that situation?
- 23:50Speaker 4: Oh?
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yeah, with that, I mean the next day, because it
- 23:52Speaker 2: was at the end of the day. Next day, I
- 23:54Speaker 2: was there at eight o'clock in the morning and she
- 23:56Speaker 2: told us to be that eight. I was there at
- 23:57Speaker 2: seven forty. Made sure she understood that. You know, I'm
- 24:00Speaker 2: taking the I'm taking my mistake. I'm taking accountability for
- 24:04Speaker 2: who are for what I've done. And I like that
- 24:07Speaker 2: because I, like I said, I like to correct myself
- 24:10Speaker 2: and just let her know it was my fault, you know,
- 24:12Speaker 2: and I make sure it will never happen again. But
- 24:14Speaker 2: it's not going to be a problem because there's other
- 24:16Speaker 2: steps behind that that's going to make.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Sure that's fixed. Cool. Now, your company, you have an
- 24:21Speaker 1: electrical you have a plumbing, roofing, HVAC, flooring, custom carpentry
- 24:28Speaker 1: work and drywall.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Everything.
- 24:33Speaker 1: So tell us how you're television structure of your company.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Do you do you have employees or do you bringing
- 24:39Speaker 1: people contracting for certain certain jobs that you have? No?
- 24:44Speaker 2: So, so we have we have on I guess salary guards.
- 24:48Speaker 2: We have about eleven eleven employees that work every day,
- 24:51Speaker 2: but we also have seventy five selbs. We do like
- 24:53Speaker 2: I said, we do full and model full renovation. We
- 24:56Speaker 2: have actually three three companies, which is UH Renovation Construction company,
- 25:02Speaker 2: also mold Water Remediation Company, and then also a glass
- 25:06Speaker 2: company where we do showers, mirrors, glass mirror, glass showers
- 25:10Speaker 2: and stuff like that. So we do like I said,
- 25:12Speaker 2: we do everything from we do new construction, new builds,
- 25:16Speaker 2: also commercial.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Now let me ask you this. Now we talk about marketing.
- 25:21Speaker 1: How do you get the word out about who you are?
- 25:23Speaker 1: Do you do social media? Word of moll from your quality,
- 25:27Speaker 1: the work that you do with other clients. How do
- 25:29Speaker 1: you grow your brand? How do you grow your company?
- 25:32Speaker 2: It's honestly been marked word of mouth, like for the
- 25:36Speaker 2: last for the last couple of years, he's he's been
- 25:38Speaker 2: straight word of mouth. I mean, we went to a
- 25:40Speaker 2: home show this last year for the first time, but
- 25:42Speaker 2: there's been nothing but word of mouth. You know, we
- 25:44Speaker 2: got investors, we're more so investigates, but we also do retail.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Right right right now, let's go to the other level.
- 25:53Speaker 1: Being a Super Bowl champion, does it help you can
- 25:59Speaker 1: you repeat that one talking being a super Bowl champion?
- 26:02Speaker 1: Does that help you in your line of business? Doubt?
- 26:08Speaker 2: I definitely, I definitely market that.
- 26:10Speaker 1: You know, uh huh, Well, you know when you got
- 26:13Speaker 1: the number one sports on TV and you are Super
- 26:18Speaker 1: Bowl champion, the most watched game in television history, and
- 26:24Speaker 1: you participated in it, I think that'll be an asset
- 26:27Speaker 1: to that. But the number one thing that I wanted
- 26:29Speaker 1: to bring you on the show to discuss was really
- 26:32Speaker 1: that transition and and you being honest about you know,
- 26:36Speaker 1: the injuries, because I remember you, because I remember when
- 26:39Speaker 1: you retired. I went, wow, he didn't have a long career.
- 26:42Speaker 1: But I didn't know. But I don't know you. All
- 26:43Speaker 1: I know is you retired, and I know you was
- 26:46Speaker 1: the first round draft pick. So did it did it
- 26:49Speaker 1: lead to any disappointment for you? Or did you feel
- 26:53Speaker 1: that you needed to you? Did you did you feel
- 26:56Speaker 1: that you failed people when you had to retire? So
- 26:59Speaker 1: so y'all no, No.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Honestly, I mean I feel like I felt myself. I'm
- 27:03Speaker 2: not gonna lie like I knew, I knew my talent,
- 27:06Speaker 2: I knew where I could have been in the NFL.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I know what I could have done yes, but you know,
- 27:10Speaker 2: injuries got the whole got the best of me. And
- 27:12Speaker 2: you know that is what I gotta live with. And
- 27:14Speaker 2: that's not I'm not going to say it, say like
- 27:16Speaker 2: I'm upset it with myself that I knew. I fought through.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I fought through everything that I could, but it was just,
- 27:22Speaker 2: you know, I just had to live with what it was.
- 27:24Speaker 1: For Dominique.
- 27:25Speaker 2: I can't use my body, but now I can use
- 27:27Speaker 2: my mind.
- 27:27Speaker 1: For Dominique on my show, here's an opportunity to tell
- 27:30Speaker 1: people how they can reach out to you or your
