- 1:58Speaker 1: come on your back. Uh huh, I show will good morning.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Everybody listening to the voice. Come on dig me now,
- 2:07Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show, man, Yeah,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I do. Man. God been good to me. Man, He's
- 2:17Speaker 1: been so good to me. Wow. You know why I
- 2:23Speaker 1: say it like that. What makes it amazing is because
- 2:26Speaker 1: it's been in spite of myself. I mean, you know
- 2:30Speaker 1: what I mean by that. I mean I mean that
- 2:33Speaker 1: he's been good to me in spite of all the
- 2:37Speaker 1: craziness I've done, all the foolishness I've gotten myself involved with,
- 2:42Speaker 1: and not only got but knowingly got myself involved with,
- 2:47Speaker 1: all of the stupid decisions I've made. Put all that
- 2:53Speaker 1: to the side, and he's still been good to me.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Bring it all and put it on the plate, and
- 2:59Speaker 1: he's been good to me. Man. That's amazing man. And
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a lot of people that can say
- 3:04Speaker 1: the exact same thing. I mean, come on, man, I
- 3:09Speaker 1: got you, ain't famous, I got anybody, got no microphone
- 3:11Speaker 1: in your face, I got nobody. Ain't got no spotlight
- 3:14Speaker 1: on you. I got nobody, ain't got no camera in
- 3:16Speaker 1: your face. I got nobody problem. Ain't your body blogging
- 3:18Speaker 1: about you. But let me tell you something. If you
- 3:20Speaker 1: break it down and be real about it, Oh, you
- 3:23Speaker 1: haven't done something outside the box. You haven't done something
- 3:26Speaker 1: ladies included. You've done something out the box. You woke
- 3:29Speaker 1: up and went what did I do that for? Oh?
- 3:33Speaker 1: We've all done it. So when all that said and done,
- 3:38Speaker 1: God still loves you, man, God still loves you, still
- 3:42Speaker 1: wants you the best for you, still considers you his child.
- 3:45Speaker 1: And it's willing. It's willing man to show you your future.
- 3:50Speaker 1: He is willing to show you your life. He is
- 3:53Speaker 1: willing to let you take a peek at the blueprint. Man.
- 3:58Speaker 1: That's an amazing God right there, because I don't I know,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it. I'm glad
- 4:04Speaker 1: it's him, you know. Today, Man, I want to encourage
- 4:07Speaker 1: brothers out there. And when I say brothers, I'm talking
- 4:09Speaker 1: to everybody that's of the male species. I don't care
- 4:12Speaker 1: about your color. I really really don't. I don't even
- 4:14Speaker 1: have time for that in my day a matter a
- 4:17Speaker 1: matter of fact. Sometimes when you get to discussing races,
- 4:20Speaker 1: I just get tired of it. Sometimes I just wish,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you know, some days I just want to wake up,
- 4:24Speaker 1: just do me. You know, I got what what the
- 4:28Speaker 1: skin tone is, I got that, But I just want
- 4:30Speaker 1: to wake up some days and just going buy my
- 4:33Speaker 1: business and do me. I don't want to have to
- 4:34Speaker 1: deal with it. Somebody. I get tired of talking about
- 4:36Speaker 1: the issues. Ain't gonna make them go away. But sometimes
- 4:38Speaker 1: I get tired, so the damn talking to brothers, all
- 4:41Speaker 1: the brothers of the male species. I'm talking about men today. Man,
- 4:47Speaker 1: If if you ain't doing it all, if you're feeling empty, man,
- 4:50Speaker 1: start today completing your process and your journey. And you
- 4:54Speaker 1: know what I'm saying by that, if there's a part
- 4:57Speaker 1: of you just missing as a man, and and now, man,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I'm talking to you. So you know, some ladies listening,
- 5:04Speaker 1: but you know what I'm talking about. It's it's some
- 5:07Speaker 1: part of you. That's missing as a man if you
- 5:10Speaker 1: ain't really been in touch with your kids like you
- 5:13Speaker 1: supposed to now for whatever the reason is. And please no,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I do understand how sometimes women can use children as pawns.
- 5:23Speaker 1: It happens all the time. I've been through it. I've
- 5:26Speaker 1: been through it, man, I know what it feels like,
- 5:29Speaker 1: man to want to do something. But because you ain't
- 5:32Speaker 1: got this, or you ain't doing this, then I ain't
- 5:34Speaker 1: gonna let you have this. You gotta fight through. Fellas,
- 5:38Speaker 1: you got to fight through. You got to fulfill your
- 5:43Speaker 1: end of the deal. And I got how difficult they're
- 5:46Speaker 1: making it. I got how man, it's gonna come with
- 5:49Speaker 1: some drama, but you gotta fight through it. Because, man,
- 5:52Speaker 1: we need fathers to be fathers. That's really what we need.
- 5:56Speaker 1: If you're a man out there and you are a
- 5:58Speaker 1: father of a child, we need you do your job.
- 6:02Speaker 1: We I'm talking about the our community, our situation, us
- 6:07Speaker 1: as a people, all of us. We need you to
- 6:11Speaker 1: be a father. Period. Hey man, I ain't coming down
- 6:16Speaker 1: on you. I'm just your boy. I'm your man, And
- 6:19Speaker 1: I've been in the same predicament, in the same hole myself,
- 6:23Speaker 1: where I couldn't get to them where they were used
- 6:26Speaker 1: as pawns, where they were told things about me that
- 6:30Speaker 1: wasn't even true. I've been through it. You can't see them,
- 6:34Speaker 1: you don't come on okay, okay, I got all that.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You ain't sent this. You ain't okay, hey, hey, got
- 6:38Speaker 1: all that? If if, if you can call them sometimes,
- 6:43Speaker 1: tell them you're thinking about them, Tell them you love them.
- 6:47Speaker 1: If you can get a letter to them, if you
- 6:49Speaker 1: can get a message to your children through one of
- 6:52Speaker 1: your relatives, start the process today. Be a father. It's
- 6:58Speaker 1: your job. Because you ignoring him, or you acting like
- 7:02Speaker 1: they ain't over there, or you to back him out
- 7:05Speaker 1: of your mind because the situation got too difficult. I
- 7:08Speaker 1: got that, I got that. But you got to step
- 7:11Speaker 1: up and be fatherless. You got to write a letter.
- 7:14Speaker 1: You gotta send the money. If she talking about it.
- 7:16Speaker 1: If you don't send all the money, you ain't gonna
- 7:18Speaker 1: see him. Send what you got if she if taking
- 7:20Speaker 1: it over there's too much drama, Send it through a relative,
- 7:23Speaker 1: Give it to a mama, give it to her sister,
- 7:25Speaker 1: ask her to take it over there and do something
- 7:27Speaker 1: for the baby. Because okay, okay, you can't deal with
- 7:30Speaker 1: the drama. I got that, and I know it's much
- 7:33Speaker 1: to pay when you had to deal with that, because
- 7:36Speaker 1: I clearly I know hell have no fury like a
- 7:38Speaker 1: woman scorn. Please know. I know that. Please know. And
- 7:42Speaker 1: that's a real statement. That ain't no saying. Steve got that,
- 7:46Speaker 1: that's the truth. But do what you gotta do. Sometimes
- 7:51Speaker 1: you have to apologize. Sometimes an apology goes a long
- 7:55Speaker 1: way to your children. Just hey, look, because I've made
- 7:59Speaker 1: this apology before. Hey man, look, I'm sorry. I wasn't
- 8:04Speaker 1: there for you. I was out grinding and hustling and
- 8:07Speaker 1: I wasn't paying attention to you, and I should have been.
- 8:11Speaker 1: And I apologize now. I imagine, man, there's days where
- 8:14Speaker 1: you was telling people I was your father up at
- 8:16Speaker 1: the school and they wasn't believing you. I apologize for
- 8:19Speaker 1: sending you through that. But now, man, I tell you what.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I made some mistakes, and I got it together. I
- 8:26Speaker 1: want me and you to move forward as father and son.
- 8:29Speaker 1: I want me and you to move forward as father
- 8:31Speaker 1: and daughter. I want to be in your life. I
- 8:34Speaker 1: ain't got a lot, but guess what, I know a lot.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Because if you're a man and you a father, please know,
- 8:39Speaker 1: you know something that child don't know you have information,
- 8:42Speaker 1: You have experience. That's all they need sometimes to have
- 8:46Speaker 1: somebody to talk to. That daughter yours just needs to
- 8:49Speaker 1: know from her daddy, how should a man treat me? Dad?
- 8:54Speaker 1: What should I look for in a man? See, they'll
- 8:57Speaker 1: take that information from you because they know coming from
- 9:00Speaker 1: the right place. And then you know that your son
- 9:03Speaker 1: needs you, because you know how difficult it is if
- 9:07Speaker 1: you're trying to be a man without your daddy. You
- 9:09Speaker 1: already know how funky that is, right there. So come on,
- 9:13Speaker 1: man and match your mistakes and move forward. Call your kids,
- 9:17Speaker 1: write a letter, get a phone number on them, send
- 9:20Speaker 1: a text, drop a message, send a note up to
- 9:23Speaker 1: the school. Do something. Man. If those of us that
- 9:28Speaker 1: are fathers would just be fathers, I could shut the
- 9:32Speaker 1: mentor and camp down. Now I will say I apologize
- 9:38Speaker 1: because I don't want you to think I'm coming down
- 9:39Speaker 1: on you. But I've been through this myself. I ain't
- 9:42Speaker 1: really coming down. I'm just reminding you this is our job.
- 9:45Speaker 1: These are our children, this is our responsibility. We all men.
- 9:50Speaker 1: There is no excuses. You don't get you don't get
- 9:54Speaker 1: cut a break on that one. Sorry, you're listening, ladies,
- 10:02Speaker 1: and gentlemen, be about it. The morning time is hell.
- 10:05Speaker 1: They don't need to mess around. Don't more delays. Steve

- 11:03Speaker 1: about that when it don't matter, It don't matter. You
- 11:06Speaker 1: just want well, you know it is what it is.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You know, we we know we're not gonna get the
- 11:12Speaker 1: Mother's Day thing. We understand why giving birth is way
- 11:15Speaker 1: bigger than just being there. You know, of course that
- 11:19Speaker 1: ain't no problem, so you get it. Well, you know what.
- 11:24Speaker 1: But you know, if you got it, daddy, you thank you,
- 11:27Speaker 1: depreciate it. You know what I'm saying this how so
- 11:29Speaker 1: people's missing? But that's a fair question though, because you
- 11:33Speaker 1: have everything, what would you like? No, no, no, no, no,
- 11:37Speaker 1: no no what you know? It's just you never use
- 11:43Speaker 1: your imagination. Y'all ask us what we want, but we
- 11:47Speaker 1: think of stuff to give you. You know what I mean?
- 11:50Speaker 1: Just this laziness is what it is. Problems. We're lazy,
- 11:55Speaker 1: damn the borderline trife for me. If you answer, yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 1: su lazy, Yeah, you have everything you want some underwear?
- 12:07Speaker 1: About the ask for my damn underwear? I got underwear.
- 12:10Speaker 1: I don't fix nothing, work around the house? Okay, say something?
- 12:21Speaker 1: And can I say something? And it's on the day,
- 12:24Speaker 1: it's not you know, it's on the damn day you
- 12:27Speaker 1: asked us what do we want? Whenever you thinking about
- 12:33Speaker 1: the damn day, it's fried. It's day after them all.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You ain't put a damn bit of thought in the
- 12:39Speaker 1: two Friday or man, y'all must us with this hill
- 12:44Speaker 1: till yesterday? He ain't. I ain't even seen a commercial
- 12:47Speaker 1: for Father's Day. Ain't all the cards section it don't
- 12:53Speaker 1: even grow. You can get a dinner reservation anywhere, sound anywhere.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Just let them right and hope y'all do something for
- 13:12Speaker 1: the me and in your life. There's good father this
- 13:14Speaker 1: to your kids. At least maybe y'all try to try that. Well,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I thought about you stopped thinking about cooking. No, nobody
- 13:21Speaker 1: won't at a crack pod away, We'll be back is
- 13:28Speaker 1: next whatever you're listening to show? All right, guys, it
- 13:36Speaker 1: is time now for I asked the Cello chief Love Officer,
- 13:38Speaker 1: Steve Harvey in the building. This one, Steve is from
- 13:41Speaker 1: Leah and Saint Louis. She says. I'm a forty two
- 13:44Speaker 1: year old married woman and I went to lunch with
- 13:47Speaker 1: a man I met online. My sugar levels had been
- 13:51Speaker 1: low that morning and I started feeling lightheaded. During lunch,
- 13:55Speaker 1: I asked my date to drive me to my doctor's office.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I thought he left, so I called my husband to
- 14:01Speaker 1: pick me up. When I got out to the lobby,
- 14:04Speaker 1: my husband and my dates were sitting side by side.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I thanked my date for bringing me, as though he
- 14:11Speaker 1: were a complete stranger from the restaurant. He looked confused
- 14:15Speaker 1: as I left with my husband. Do I call him
- 14:18Speaker 1: and explain what happened, or block him and move on.
- 14:22Speaker 1: You should have stumbled your dizzy ass back in their
- 14:24Speaker 1: doctor's office. Is she kidding me? Man? Yeah? I mean no,
- 14:37Speaker 1: not at all. So the guy he just looked confused. Yeah,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you might as well just call him and explained to
- 14:44Speaker 1: him what you're trifling behind. Really, I just knew you
- 14:47Speaker 1: were going to say, let this one go and just
- 14:49Speaker 1: move on. What she's married, cheery and she on a
- 14:55Speaker 1: dating site. She going to lunch? What to do? Ask
- 14:58Speaker 1: him to take her to the doctor? Right? Okay, but
- 15:02Speaker 1: how did how did the husband so he thought she
- 15:05Speaker 1: thought he left, called her husband to pick him up.
- 15:08Speaker 1: She go outside to men in the lobby. Right, that's
- 15:12Speaker 1: what she gets. But that's what that's what she wants
- 15:17Speaker 1: to know. Should she call him to explain or block
- 15:19Speaker 1: him and move on? I'm just saying, what a minute
- 15:21Speaker 1: you would? Why are you blocking him? What do he do?
- 15:27Speaker 1: See you playing the trick game? And the trick game
- 15:30Speaker 1: you got caught in it at least, old man, the
- 15:34Speaker 1: explanation of what you did. I didn't know you, Shirley,
- 15:38Speaker 1: Why are you missing this? She wants to date other
- 15:42Speaker 1: men outside of her husband. You have to tell this
- 15:46Speaker 1: dude what it is. He may be cool with that
- 15:50Speaker 1: because she gonna date outside her marriage. What part of
- 15:53Speaker 1: that you ain't getting that? Your sister is trifle him? Sure, Shirley,
- 16:01Speaker 1: if you're going to date married, you're gonna have to
- 16:05Speaker 1: tell these people you married. Yeah, well he knows. Now,
- 16:12Speaker 1: all right, we're moving on. So since you liked him
- 16:14Speaker 1: and hen, take you to the document as well. Tell
- 16:16Speaker 1: him what happened. He'd probably be cool with it. Oh
- 16:19Speaker 1: that's all you want to do, all right, I'm game. Really,
- 16:22Speaker 1: I would move on. I would move on, all right.
- 16:25Speaker 1: We are moving on. Veronica and Jacksonville says, I'm a
- 16:28Speaker 1: thirty two year old single female and I've been married
- 16:31Speaker 1: for twelve years. I got married really young, and now
- 16:34Speaker 1: my husband is saying we need to branch out and
- 16:36Speaker 1: seek other ways to jazz up our love life after
- 16:39Speaker 1: having four kids. I'm all right with having sex once
- 16:42Speaker 1: or twice a week, he says, I'm being selfish. And
- 16:44Speaker 1: when he was upset last night, he said, I'm going
- 16:47Speaker 1: to make him cheat on me. Was this an admission
- 16:50Speaker 1: that he already cheated or was that a warning? Oh well,
- 16:56Speaker 1: it's definitely a warning for sure. But it sounded mole
- 17:02Speaker 1: like a promise. He's going it's going to happen. Ain't
- 17:08Speaker 1: no married man gonna say that to his wife and
- 17:13Speaker 1: if if, if it ain't in his head? Real good, Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 1: because y'all been having conversations about it sex twice week.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Folk kids as a lot, Folk kids is a lot?
- 17:28Speaker 1: All right, all right? MJ and Gary Indiana writes, I'm
- 17:33Speaker 1: a forty seven year old married woman and I had
- 17:35Speaker 1: sex with a thirty one year old man behind the
- 17:37Speaker 1: pharmacy where we work. The church next door to us, yes,
- 17:42Speaker 1: and writing is better. The church next door to us
- 17:46Speaker 1: has security cameras and there's a video of us having sex,
- 17:50Speaker 1: but it's not clear. My manager wants whoever it is
- 17:54Speaker 1: to come forward. I need my job, so I'm praying
- 17:58Speaker 1: she doesn't ever figure out who The guy keeps saying
- 18:02Speaker 1: he wants to fess up because she can't fire us
- 18:04Speaker 1: for this, How can I keep him quiet? You can
- 18:08Speaker 1: get five for having sex behind the wall at your job, now, food,
- 18:14Speaker 1: I don't know who told you you can't get five
- 18:16Speaker 1: for that. First of all, both you're not supposed to
- 18:21Speaker 1: because and it's dirty. Y'all got on the white jackets.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Now he wants y'all to confess and come forward. Don't
- 18:32Speaker 1: be stupid. Don't listen to this dude, please don't. And
- 18:37Speaker 1: didn't she say she was married? Yes? Forty seven thirty
- 18:43Speaker 1: one year old boys. See thirty one year old boy,
- 18:45Speaker 1: he's stupid. Let's tell it. Yeahs NW, you slept with
- 18:51Speaker 1: a stupid person. Yeah, lady, that ain't you. That ain't true.
- 18:59Speaker 1: That is not It's obviously clear. She talk about somebody volunteer.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Isn't what with who? Yes, that's what I'm gonna have,
- 19:13Speaker 1: happily married. I don't know what you're talking about, right man?
- 19:17Speaker 1: Miss me? All right? Moving on Johnathan and Carrolton. Georgia
- 19:23Speaker 1: says this summer, my wife's adult kids are coming to
- 19:27Speaker 1: stay with us for a week, since we haven't seen
- 19:29Speaker 1: their kids for almost two years. She has three children
- 19:33Speaker 1: and seven grandchildren total. I have had some financial problems
- 19:39Speaker 1: lately that I've hid from my wife and my family.
- 19:42Speaker 1: My wife hasn't worked since I married her sixteen years ago,
- 19:46Speaker 1: so I hate to let her down. Should I be
- 19:48Speaker 1: honest and ask the kids to postpone the visit or
- 19:51Speaker 1: keep it to myself and dip into my savings, dip
- 19:55Speaker 1: into your savings dog gut it out. If you don't
- 19:59Speaker 1: want to hurt the woman you love, you having some
- 20:03Speaker 1: financial trouble and tell it. You could probably share it
- 20:05Speaker 1: where if she ain't working now, unless the financial troubles
- 20:09Speaker 1: is you hadn't bought some of the woman something with
- 20:11Speaker 1: the money. Wow, I hope that's not it. You can
- 20:21Speaker 1: bawling out go down there to pay their cash loan
- 20:23Speaker 1: and mess your whole life up with that two hundred
- 20:26Speaker 1: dollars loan. That's gonna cause you thirty grand to pay
- 20:29Speaker 1: it back. All right, CLO, great advice today, Thank you.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Coming up next, Junior is in for the nephew. Would
- 20:40Speaker 1: run that prank back right after this you're listening to
- 20:45Speaker 1: show coming up at the top of the hour. June
- 20:48Speaker 1: teenth is now a federal holiday. We're gonna talk about
- 20:53Speaker 1: this at the top of the hour. But right now,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Junior is in for the nephew. Would run that prank back.
- 20:58Speaker 1: What you got for is, Junior, are okay? Well, this
- 21:01Speaker 1: morning is sleeping security guard. That's what we're doing. What
- 21:07Speaker 1: we're doing, we're doing sleeping security guards. I read I
- 21:10Speaker 1: feel security booth man. Help you. Hey, uh, this circuit.
- 21:19Speaker 1: This stuff I can barely hear. Is this is this

- 23:44Speaker 1: hello sir. Huh hey, hey, look I cannot do this

- 24:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna put the phone up. Do you hear, yes, sir,
- 24:34Speaker 1: but I don't hear the unit number. I need the
- 24:37Speaker 1: unit number. Without the unit number, we're just having a conversation. Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello,
- 24:57Speaker 1: sure are you there? Yo? Um? Oh? Hey man, you
- 25:01Speaker 1: checked on the people, No, sir, we have not checked
- 25:05Speaker 1: on the people because we have not been able to
- 25:07Speaker 1: get the unit number from you. Sir, Dude, this fall
- 25:18Speaker 1: sleep every time he gets rid of filling fall. You
- 25:23Speaker 1: got to hit it. Keeps following sleep. Hey man, come here, dude,
- 25:29Speaker 1: this guy following sleep on the phone. I think it's
- 25:32Speaker 1: unit out of him to keep falling asleep. Hello, sir, Love, Sir, Sir,
- 25:44Speaker 1: Hey man, I don't know what unit he's in. Keeps
- 25:47Speaker 1: falling asleep. Every time I asked you something if he
- 25:50Speaker 1: falls asleep. He keeps telling me that over that fight.
- 25:52Speaker 1: But I don't hen he won't kill me to you,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I don't sorry, I don't know you. What's the would
- 25:59Speaker 1: you wake up up? Please? Hey? I got a guy
- 26:02Speaker 1: on the phone that he says it gets me here.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Some screaming over his highest unit. But he's fallow asleep.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I don't can't get him on, get him to tell
- 26:11Speaker 1: me with the unit number. Hey, dude, come here, listen
- 26:15Speaker 1: to this. Listen. Hello, I'm gonna need you to wake up, sir. Okay, sir,
- 26:27Speaker 1: could you please give me the unity? I gotta ask
- 26:30Speaker 1: you something? How come y'all all, y'all do just sit
- 26:33Speaker 1: on y'all to watch cars come in and out that door,
- 26:36Speaker 1: and of helping people that need help, like you want
- 26:40Speaker 1: the number? You shut your housing at me. You need
- 26:43Speaker 1: to do your damn job. You read a cop. I'm
- 26:45Speaker 1: a read a cop. I'm a rending cop. Fall asleep.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Would you just give me the youdn't number? Please? I
- 26:52Speaker 1: give you the number, new yo, the number. You're ready for?
- 26:53Speaker 1: The union number? Are you? Are you listening to me? Yes,
- 26:58Speaker 1: I says to you, sir. It isn't a few timing
- 27:01Speaker 1: from the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You just got rank
- 27:06Speaker 1: by your co worker. Y'all crazy, y'all, ah, this is
- 27:15Speaker 1: not funny, man, This is not funny. Y'all got me
- 27:18Speaker 1: out here walking around this complex looking for people's hollering
- 27:22Speaker 1: and screaming and out you're sleeping every thirty five second,
- 27:29Speaker 1: man put it off. Okay, let me let me ask
- 27:33Speaker 1: you something, man, what is what is the baddest radio
- 27:37Speaker 1: show in the land. Steve Harvey Morning Show? Sleeping but
- 27:47Speaker 1: Timmy kept on the sleep on him on the security
- 27:50Speaker 1: guard juniors. Yeah, yeah, have you guys ever fo on
- 28:00Speaker 1: the job though? Oh my god, can I tell you
- 28:05Speaker 1: how I fell asleep? Yeah? I worked at Okay, I
- 28:09Speaker 1: worked at a mental hospital and every day at lunchtime
- 28:14Speaker 1: they let all the patients come in the dayroom just
- 28:16Speaker 1: to hang out. Well, I went to sleep amongst the
- 28:20Speaker 1: patients just out. I was just out, people walking around
- 28:24Speaker 1: talking to themselves, just you know, humming. I'm completely out.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Supervisor woke me up in five, my ass. So yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 1: this is the story. So crazy story. And mister Brown,
- 28:50Speaker 1: when you finish your nap, you're fired. Okay, all right,
- 28:55Speaker 1: thank you. Coming up at the top of the hour,
- 28:57Speaker 1: June tenth is now a federal Hallday, we'll talk about
- 29:01Speaker 1: it right after this. You're listening to the Stave Harvey
- 29:04Speaker 1: Morning Show. All right, So Juneteenth is now a federal
- 29:10Speaker 1: holiday because yesterday President Biden signed into law a measure
- 29:15Speaker 1: that makes June the nineteenth or Juneteenth, a federal holiday
- 29:19Speaker 1: commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. As
- 29:24Speaker 1: we established Juneteenth as our newest national holiday, let us
- 29:28Speaker 1: be clear about what happened on June nineteenth, eighteen sixty five,
- 29:32Speaker 1: the day we call juneteenth. Vice President Kamala Harris said,
- 29:36Speaker 1: speaking of how the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas were
- 29:39Speaker 1: the last in the nation to be informed that the
- 29:42Speaker 1: Civil War had ended and they would be set free.
- 29:45Speaker 1: The news was brought to them by The news was
- 29:48Speaker 1: brought to them more than two years after President Lincoln
- 29:51Speaker 1: signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves in the
- 29:56Speaker 1: Confederate States. So there you have it. What happens on
- 30:01Speaker 1: this federal holiday? Yeah? Is it a day off? Yeah,
- 30:07Speaker 1: it's gonna be yeah. Thanks close, government closes yeah yeah. Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 1: So I have a not a problem. It's just that,
- 30:18Speaker 1: like miss miss Harris was saying, how can we have
- 30:22Speaker 1: a holiday for something that we can celebrate, But they
- 30:25Speaker 1: don't want us to teach it to the kids in
- 30:27Speaker 1: school about the damn day. That to me, that'll make sense.
- 30:33Speaker 1: They don't want to talk about slavery. Well, they want
- 30:37Speaker 1: to take slavery out of the history books they want
- 30:40Speaker 1: to see. I want you to understand something. This is
- 30:43Speaker 1: my opinion of it. This country doesn't like to admit
- 30:47Speaker 1: that it's racist. The biggest racial s car they have
- 30:51Speaker 1: it is slavery. So if we get rid of that, see,
- 30:56Speaker 1: and you stop teaching it, this younger generation won't know
- 30:59Speaker 1: nothing about it. And so now that is all this
- 31:02Speaker 1: conversation of what y'all did to us, and then it
- 31:06Speaker 1: doesn't allow young people to know the history of this country.
- 31:12Speaker 1: It will remove our contribution to this country and in
- 31:19Speaker 1: the first place, and then it will lessen the guilt
- 31:25Speaker 1: that a lot of these people feel that part right
- 31:33Speaker 1: and reparations that we might want to talk about. They
- 31:37Speaker 1: get rid of all of that. Why is it okay
- 31:41Speaker 1: to talk about the Holocaust but not slavery? Well, listen
- 31:44Speaker 1: to me. The two shouldn't be pitted against one Jewish people.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Jewish people not feel to let you play them, period,
- 31:55Speaker 1: and we shouldn't let them play us. The two greatest
- 32:00Speaker 1: atrocities in world history his slavery and the Holocaust. Those
- 32:05Speaker 1: are two of the greatest atrocities, atrocities against human kind.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Those two things cannot be forgotten. Now the Jewish culture
- 32:13Speaker 1: not gonna let you play him. It's still people walking
- 32:16Speaker 1: around with numbers on them. But it's still those of
- 32:19Speaker 1: us walking around suffering from the Act the math of
- 32:23Speaker 1: slavery because we live in a country that keeps inflicting
- 32:27Speaker 1: policies as if we were. You won't pass to George
- 32:32Speaker 1: Floyd Bill. You have an act that you've introduced over
- 32:37Speaker 1: four hundred bills recently for voter suppression since Biden one.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Oh okay, look man, what else you want? You know,
- 32:45Speaker 1: you're trying to tell us that you've been that that
- 32:48Speaker 1: is really raining. You've been paying on us the whole time,
- 32:50Speaker 1: and then you got the vice presidents, as the former
- 32:53Speaker 1: vice president says that this systemic racism is a left
- 32:58Speaker 1: wing myth. Man, get out. You're talking about Mike Pitts,
- 33:02Speaker 1: the formal president behind these people. So full of racist
- 33:11Speaker 1: all right, Steve, come on, um, it's before you get
- 33:14Speaker 1: too mad, right, ladies and gentlemen, Miss An Tripp, thank
- 33:17Speaker 1: you very much. Yeah, this is Anne tripping. Yes, they
- 33:19Speaker 1: called it the Northern War of Aggression instead of slavery
- 33:23Speaker 1: and the Civil War. As expected, President Biden signed a
- 33:26Speaker 1: measure into law yesterday. Yes, we just talked about it
- 33:29Speaker 1: creating a new federal holiday honoring the other Independence Day, Juneteenth,
- 33:34Speaker 1: but to his credit, to his credit, mister Biden at
- 33:36Speaker 1: least acknowledged the bigger picture. Today also marks the sixth
- 33:39Speaker 1: anniversary the tragic deaths at Mother Emmanuel Church in Charleston,
- 33:43Speaker 1: South Carolina. A killer motivated by hate, intending to start
- 33:48Speaker 1: a race war in South Carolina, joined his victims in
- 33:51Speaker 1: the Bible study class, and he took their lives in
- 33:54Speaker 1: the House of Worship to reminder that our work to
- 33:57Speaker 1: root out hate never ends because he only hides, and
- 34:02Speaker 1: when you're breathe oxygen under that rock, it comes out.
- 34:06Speaker 1: In short, this day doesn't just celebrate the past, it
- 34:09Speaker 1: calls for action today. I wish all Americans happy Juneteenth.
- 34:14Speaker 1: How Speaker Nancy Pelosi sees it as a very important
- 34:17Speaker 1: continuum in light of this month's reveal about Black Wall
- 34:21Speaker 1: Street and other lies and omissions in the history book
- 34:24Speaker 1: concerning American Blacks and American history, this is an important
- 34:27Speaker 1: step for America. One of the most momentous events in
- 34:31Speaker 1: our history finally takes its official place of honor in
- 34:36Speaker 1: our nation. That was Nancy Pelosi. Well, the Republicans gave
- 34:40Speaker 1: it another try, but at they lost again. Yesterday, the
- 34:43Speaker 1: Supreme Court turned back a challenge by Republican led states
- 34:47Speaker 1: to abolish Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act, but they failed.
- 34:51Speaker 1: The justices decide there was nothing wrong with the health
- 34:53Speaker 1: program as it is, and Santa Charles Schumer says he's
- 34:57Speaker 1: hoping the Republican Obamacare challenges finally get life. The ACA
- 35:01Speaker 1: is here to stay, and now we're going to try
- 35:04Speaker 1: to make it bigger and better, establish one sin for all,
- 35:08Speaker 1: affordable healthcare as a basic right of every American citizen.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Right now, about thirty one million Americans have healthcare covers
- 35:15Speaker 1: directly connected to Obamacare, and this is the third time
- 35:19Speaker 1: that the High Court has upheld it well. Finally, a
- 35:22Speaker 1: lot was made of the numbers of people leaving on
- 35:24Speaker 1: the cities, especially New York City, last year to get
- 35:26Speaker 1: away from COVID, but a recent survey shows that's still
- 35:28Speaker 1: another exodus is about to happen. This is called recovery
- 35:31Speaker 1: into resignation, take this job and shoving. Yeah, apparently corn
- 35:37Speaker 1: to axios. As many as forty percent of workers are
- 35:39Speaker 1: now thinking about quitting their jobs. A lot of them
- 35:41Speaker 1: also thinking about changing careers. A lot of folks gott
- 35:44Speaker 1: were working at home. They want they don't want to
- 35:46Speaker 1: go to the office anymore. And a lot of others
- 35:47Speaker 1: just want a different life. Now back to the Steve
- 35:50Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show. You're listening to show? All right, Steve,
- 35:55Speaker 1: come on, introduce your boy. Let's see what's going on
- 35:59Speaker 1: in that crazy MG Anthony Brown, Well, I found like
- 36:03Speaker 1: it's going down Saturday night. The whole in yours truly
- 36:08Speaker 1: will be there Raleigh, North Carolina. Your boy would be
- 36:11Speaker 1: an out. I have a list of gifts. If you
- 36:15Speaker 1: haven't got daddy a gift yet, These some gifts. If
- 36:19Speaker 1: you see them, damn it, don't get them. Okay, this
- 36:22Speaker 1: is what daddy don't want. Okay, or wool lime green
- 36:29Speaker 1: housecoat and says do it daddy on the back. He
- 36:33Speaker 1: don't want that. If you see it, a gold too
- 36:40Speaker 1: with a light in it. Naw, that might be big
- 36:42Speaker 1: in Atlanta, but the average daddy don't want that. Okay.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Wooden shoes with daddy's name in it. Damn it, he
- 36:52Speaker 1: don't want that. Don't matter. No wooden ass shoes, all right?
- 36:58Speaker 1: A chicken feathers nobody, Hell, what got your chicken? Got
- 37:05Speaker 1: your chicken feather vest, Daddy, which you think? How about
- 37:09Speaker 1: this one? This is something Daddy definitely don't want. LaToya
- 37:13Speaker 1: Jackson's greatest hits on download, which is one damn song?
- 37:18Speaker 1: I know it's one song, all right, one song. Don't
- 37:23Speaker 1: you come in that room? Say, daddy, guess what I
- 37:26Speaker 1: got you? Fifty five pound bag or barbecue skin? Huh No,
- 37:36Speaker 1: fifty five pounds? How about beard gum? Who the hell
- 37:40Speaker 1: won't beard gum? Don't do no damn beard gum, beard gum?
- 37:46Speaker 1: How about this one? Daddy, open the box? Look at that.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I got your pilgrim hat. Here's something Daddy don't want.
- 37:56Speaker 1: He don't want to lap dance from a knock knee
- 38:00Speaker 1: gods stripper. Okay, now you save a lot of them. Yeah,
- 38:05Speaker 1: you gonna. You're gonna save money on that, But he
- 38:09Speaker 1: don't want it. Tell you what daddy really won't What
- 38:12Speaker 1: he won't Daddy won't these nuts gonna hot it in
- 38:16Speaker 1: the MOFO dot com or the daddy some of these
- 38:19Speaker 1: nuts that in I did that yet, Daddy, some nuts,
- 38:29Speaker 1: these nuts hotter than the MOFO dot com for all
- 38:32Speaker 1: your nuts needs, watch your damn that well, you can't
- 38:38Speaker 1: tell my kids something I don't want. What I don't want?
- 38:47Speaker 1: Got them all up this one right here. You gotta
- 38:53Speaker 1: being over that. You can just stand up. I can
- 38:56Speaker 1: being over put my damns. All right, we gotta go, guys.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Happy Father's Day. Thank you Jay. Coming up at thirty
- 39:03Speaker 1: four minutes after the hour, we're gonna talk to Steve
- 39:06Speaker 1: about being a dad and a granddad. This is sponsored
- 39:09Speaker 1: by Fatherhood, which stars Kevin Hart. It's out on Netflix
- 39:13Speaker 1: today and we'll talk about it right after this. You're
- 39:16Speaker 1: listening to the Steven Show. Fatherhood is Kevin Hart's new
- 39:22Speaker 1: movie that premieres today on Netflix. You don't want to
- 39:26Speaker 1: miss it. This is a Kevin Hart that we've never seen.
- 39:29Speaker 1: He is excellent in this role. It's about an emotional journey.
- 39:35Speaker 1: He's a single dad. He's trying to connect with his daughter.
- 39:38Speaker 1: I mean, what a really really good movie. You're gonna laugh,
- 39:42Speaker 1: but you're gonna really cry in this movie because it
- 39:44Speaker 1: tugs at your heart and you're gonna laugh a lot
- 39:47Speaker 1: because it's Kevin Hart. But he's in a really dramatic
- 39:50Speaker 1: role and you know it's just about him and his
- 39:54Speaker 1: beautiful little daughter. It's a collection of just dad's and
- 39:57Speaker 1: father figures and just a beautiful portrayal of black fatherhood.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I feel good movie. It goes through all of the emotions.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Like I said, You're gonna laugh, you're gonna cry, You're
- 40:10Speaker 1: gonna feel lost, you're gonna feel doubt, you're gonna feel love, grief,
- 40:14Speaker 1: all of that determination, all of that wrapped up into
- 40:17Speaker 1: this movie called Fatherhood, which premieres today on Netflix. Okay,
- 40:23Speaker 1: so Steve, yeah, you're a father. You know, one of
- 40:28Speaker 1: the best we know. Not only do you father your
- 40:31Speaker 1: own biological children, but you mentor many, many millions of
- 40:36Speaker 1: boys around the world. So I want you to tell
- 40:39Speaker 1: us about the first time you became a father. You
- 40:42Speaker 1: didn't just have one baby. You had a set of twins,
- 40:45Speaker 1: Brandy and Curly. Now, let's just be honest about my
- 40:49Speaker 1: role as a father. Every last one of my children,
- 40:52Speaker 1: every last one of them, wasn't complete. Damn surprised. They
- 40:59Speaker 1: weren't expect you to look for that really pass them
- 41:09Speaker 1: was a woman came in and said to me, I'm pregnant.
- 41:16Speaker 1: You are crazy. Okay, so we haven't. The babies have conde,
- 41:30Speaker 1: so you know what I mean. But I'll tell you though,
- 41:33Speaker 1: it's been I think being a grandfather that's been even
- 41:37Speaker 1: a little bit more special because I have, you know,
- 41:41Speaker 1: some way of seeing my name continue through my grandsons.
- 41:48Speaker 1: The granddaughters are a lot more, you know, precious. You know,
- 41:53Speaker 1: I never get angry at my grandkids. I'm always in
- 41:57Speaker 1: a good mood with them because, you know, thing that mine,
- 42:00Speaker 1: So I don't really care. But I think the most
- 42:03Speaker 1: gratified thing for me it's watching my children get it
- 42:06Speaker 1: right now. They've all made a lot of mistakes, but
- 42:10Speaker 1: I have to realize that, Boy, I look back at
- 42:13Speaker 1: the mistakes I made, and nobody could keep judging me
- 42:16Speaker 1: over and over for my mistakes because there was no cyberspace,
- 42:20Speaker 1: you know, there's no Internet, was no Instagram. My children
- 42:24Speaker 1: sometimes their mistakes get broadcast and they have to deal
- 42:28Speaker 1: with it. And then they had the extra burden of
- 42:30Speaker 1: being my child. So now here comes some most spotlight
- 42:35Speaker 1: and so it's been kind of it's a tough spot
- 42:37Speaker 1: to put them in, but they all have made the
- 42:40Speaker 1: necessary adjustments and they've turned out to be some really
- 42:43Speaker 1: really good young people man, and you know, proud of
- 42:47Speaker 1: a lot of the accomplishments. Any advice you can give
- 42:52Speaker 1: to people who are dealing with blended families because you
- 42:54Speaker 1: have experience in that as well. I mean, it's not easy,
- 42:57Speaker 1: it's difficult. If you think parenting is difficult, blending has
- 43:01Speaker 1: an own set of challenges. I just the only thing
- 43:04Speaker 1: that Marjorne I did was we removed the term step Okay,
- 43:09Speaker 1: we don't have step children. We removed children, and they
- 43:13Speaker 1: just saw kids not And you know, if you won't
- 43:16Speaker 1: into that party, you welcome if you want to step
- 43:18Speaker 1: outside of it because you're feeling some kind of way,
- 43:21Speaker 1: they're gonna get to stepping. But me and Marjorie we
- 43:23Speaker 1: saw it all right. Thank you, Steve. Happy Father's Day.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Coming up next, Junior is in for the nephew with
- 43:29Speaker 1: today's prank phone call. Right after this, you're listening to

- 49:22Speaker 1: started in the blaxp Let me ask you something though, Man,
- 49:32Speaker 1: what is the baddest radio show in the land? Man,
- 49:37Speaker 1: it's the Steve Harvard Morning Here it is mister Wiggins,
- 49:45Speaker 1: Miss Wiggins. You could say, you're I got all mister Wiggins.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Mister Wiggins maybe comes on his vacation, gone on this
- 50:00Speaker 1: w's who knows? That's probably don't tell them flunked out
- 50:06Speaker 1: of class. Coolie Jay, I'm still tripping off when you
- 50:13Speaker 1: said earlier, Yeah, in a mental institute. I've had. I've
- 50:19Speaker 1: had all types of weird jobs. I am. I was
- 50:22Speaker 1: a shag boy. Anybody golfers know what a shag boy is. Now,
- 50:27Speaker 1: if you ever go into a golf course and scene
- 50:29Speaker 1: where they have the tractor pick up the balls where
- 50:31Speaker 1: guys hit them out field, okay, yeah yeah, But before
- 50:36Speaker 1: they had the tractor, they had a little negro out there,
- 50:39Speaker 1: which was me. Yeah. So you go back as far
- 50:45Speaker 1: as you can and you wait till you hit the balls,
- 50:48Speaker 1: and then you pick them up and then you get
- 50:51Speaker 1: a bucket of balls, and each bucket you fill up,
- 50:54Speaker 1: you get five dollars, and it's called shagging balls. Shagging balls. Now, wow,
- 50:59Speaker 1: you have to wait to they hit all the balls
- 51:01Speaker 1: out of the bucket because you could go up to
- 51:04Speaker 1: pick up a ball which has happened and you get
- 51:07Speaker 1: hit in the head with the ball and you don't
- 51:10Speaker 1: get anything extra if you get hit. Job like that,
- 51:18Speaker 1: pay five dollars a bucket. Five you get a bucket ball.
- 51:25Speaker 1: And how many buckets would you get on an average day?
- 51:28Speaker 1: Well in the day, if you got two or three buckets,
- 51:30Speaker 1: you go home with that fifteen dollars. And you know,
- 51:32Speaker 1: you're a young kid, that's a lot of money, forty dollars.
- 51:36Speaker 1: But there's a lot of cheer, there's a lot of dodging,
- 51:39Speaker 1: lot of dodging. Go home exhausted. And that's why you
- 51:44Speaker 1: don't like golf. Huh, that's why he going to All right,
- 51:50Speaker 1: thank you guys, Coming up next Strawberry Letters, subject three

- 52:22Speaker 1: your letter? You just never know. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 52:25Speaker 1: Just time for the Strawberry Letter with my good friends.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Shirley straw Berry, Thank you my good friend Junior. Subject
- 52:32Speaker 1: three years later and we're only friends. Dear Stephen, Shirley,
- 52:38Speaker 1: I'm thirty four years old and my significant other is
- 52:41Speaker 1: thirty nine and we've been together for three years. I
- 52:44Speaker 1: call him my significant other because he is yet to
- 52:47Speaker 1: define our relationship. We started as friends, just like most
- 52:50Speaker 1: couples do, and we got closer. He told me that
- 52:54Speaker 1: he didn't want anything serious, but he enjoyed spending time
- 52:57Speaker 1: with me. We started having sex a month after we met,
- 53:01Speaker 1: and at that time I was very busy at work
- 53:04Speaker 1: and helping my sister with her new baby, so I
- 53:06Speaker 1: was not ready for anything serious either. Then my guy
- 53:10Speaker 1: tore his acl and he needed something someone to help
- 53:15Speaker 1: him out, so he came to stay with me for
- 53:17Speaker 1: a week. I was crazy about him, so taking care
- 53:20Speaker 1: of him came naturally. Whenever we're together and his phone rang,
- 53:25Speaker 1: he'd tell the caller he was with me, and he'd
- 53:27Speaker 1: call them back. This made me confident about the direction
- 53:31Speaker 1: our relationship was going in, so I never asked him
- 53:34Speaker 1: if we were boyfriend slash girlfriend. After two years, we
- 53:38Speaker 1: were stuck together like glue. If you saw him, you
- 53:41Speaker 1: saw me. That all changed last week when we double
- 53:45Speaker 1: dated with one of my girlfriends and her fiance. They
- 53:48Speaker 1: got engaged recently and they are so in love you
- 53:52Speaker 1: can feel it. My friend asked my guy if he'd
- 53:55Speaker 1: been thinking about marriage, and my guy spoke up and
- 53:58Speaker 1: embarrassed me so bad. He said, we're not that serious yet.
- 54:03Speaker 1: We're best friends and we love each other, but we
- 54:07Speaker 1: are not exclusive. He told my friend that I'm aware
- 54:11Speaker 1: of our status and I'm not pressuring him for a title.
- 54:14Speaker 1: I sat there, looking stupid and holding back tears. He
- 54:19Speaker 1: said he does plan to get married one day, when
- 54:22Speaker 1: the time is right. What I heard is that I'm
- 54:25Speaker 1: not the one. Is he wasting my time or is
- 54:29Speaker 1: he dating others to get it out of his system
- 54:31Speaker 1: before he proposes. I'm so confused. Okay, come on, now,
- 54:38Speaker 1: I really do not want you to be confused right now.
- 54:41Speaker 1: I don't want that. I need you to be good
- 54:43Speaker 1: and woke, okay, because this man just told your good
- 54:48Speaker 1: friends and you what he really thinks of you in
- 54:52Speaker 1: no uncertain terms, and you heard him tell them, so
- 54:56Speaker 1: please be clear. He said you're not a exclusive You
- 55:01Speaker 1: are not exclusive, which means yes, he's seeing other people, okay,
- 55:07Speaker 1: and that marriage will happen one day when the time
- 55:10Speaker 1: is right. Well, if it's marriage you want with him,
- 55:14Speaker 1: you can no longer sit back and allow him and
- 55:17Speaker 1: him only to define this relationship. You have a say
- 55:20Speaker 1: in this too. You're in it. Your feelings matter, and
- 55:24Speaker 1: if you've changed and you want more, you have to
- 55:27Speaker 1: let him know. It's been three years, and after three
- 55:30Speaker 1: years you should feel extremely comfortable in expressing yourself to him,
- 55:36Speaker 1: and with a lot of confidence. I might add, remember
- 55:39Speaker 1: he had no shame, no trepidation when he spoke his
- 55:42Speaker 1: mind to your friends, and you should do the same.
- 55:45Speaker 1: You should do the same, otherwise you could be spending
- 55:47Speaker 1: another three years in this holding pattern of a relationship,
- 55:52Speaker 1: not know where it's going. And I know you don't
- 55:55Speaker 1: want that. Steve, Speak up, girl, Steve, Well, this letter
- 56:02Speaker 1: you've explained your situation thoroughly, So what you want our
- 56:08Speaker 1: advice for? I don't understand. You're thirty four, he's thirty nine.
- 56:15Speaker 1: I call him my significant other. He don't call you nothing.
- 56:25Speaker 1: I call him my significant other. And then you justify
- 56:31Speaker 1: by saying because he has yet to define our relationship.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Oh no, that's because you ain't defined it. You just
- 56:40Speaker 1: you just what what you ain't on him to do,
- 56:42Speaker 1: because all throughout the letter he showed you what he
- 56:44Speaker 1: gonna do, which ain't pretty much. Ain't about nothing. Well
- 56:51Speaker 1: you say we started as friends just like most couples.
- 56:55Speaker 1: That's not how usually works. But okay, as we got closer,
- 57:01Speaker 1: he told me he didn't want anything serious. Dude, Okay,
- 57:08Speaker 1: you typed this, so obviously you heard it. He told
- 57:14Speaker 1: you he didn't want nothing serious, but he enjoyed spending
- 57:20Speaker 1: time with me. We started having sex a month after
- 57:24Speaker 1: we met. Well that's when he really enjoyed it spending
- 57:28Speaker 1: time with you, because y'all was having sex and I
- 57:34Speaker 1: was very busy at work helping my sister were her
- 57:36Speaker 1: new baby, so I wasn't really ready for anything serious either. Well, see,
- 57:40Speaker 1: you got into the relationship like a lot of people do.
- 57:45Speaker 1: And you you was wanting something, but you're talking about
- 57:49Speaker 1: you ain't want nothing either. Well, it don't sound like
- 57:51Speaker 1: that in the letter, because all through what you had
- 57:53Speaker 1: the table crying for later on if you ain't want nothing.
- 57:57Speaker 1: See then my guy tore his ACL and he needed
- 58:01Speaker 1: someone to help him out, so he came to stay
- 58:03Speaker 1: with me for a week. I was crazy about taking
- 58:06Speaker 1: care of him naturally. So now when he needs you
- 58:14Speaker 1: for convenience, here he comes. Now he need a woman. Now,
- 58:18Speaker 1: see he need nothing sious, but that see that torn ACL.
- 58:21Speaker 1: That's a serious injury. So now let me cozy own
- 58:26Speaker 1: up to this girl that I'm using, and I'm gonna
- 58:28Speaker 1: stay at her house for a week. Called this serious now,
- 58:32Speaker 1: But a minute ago he told you don't want nothing seious,
- 58:34Speaker 1: But that injury didn't tip him up, So now he
- 58:36Speaker 1: ain't come. All right, I'll tell you the rest every
- 58:39Speaker 1: when we come back. All right, you heard him. We'll
- 58:42Speaker 1: have part two of Steve's response coming up at twenty
- 58:44Speaker 1: three minutes after the hour. Today's subject three years later,
- 58:48Speaker 1: we're still friends, will get back into it right after this.
- 58:52Speaker 1: You're listening show, all right, Come on, Steve, let's recap
- 58:57Speaker 1: today's Strawberry letter, the subject three years later, we're still friends? Well, lady,
- 59:04Speaker 1: you're dating the man. You were just friends, you say,
- 59:07Speaker 1: like most couples. Then are y'all got closer? And he
- 59:11Speaker 1: told you I don't want nothing serious. He told you
- 59:15Speaker 1: that top of the letter. But he said he enjoyed
- 59:19Speaker 1: spending time with me. Well you know why because right
- 59:22Speaker 1: after that, y'all said, y'all started having the sex a
- 59:25Speaker 1: month after we met. Well, I know it was gonna
- 59:27Speaker 1: hear will he enjoying this time? But you now now
- 59:31Speaker 1: you was okay with that? You say, because you was
- 59:33Speaker 1: busy at working. You was helping your sister with a
- 59:35Speaker 1: new baby, So I was not ready for anything serious either. Ah,
- 59:43Speaker 1: well that ain't what this letter say because you wrote
- 59:46Speaker 1: the whole time in the letter you sound like you
- 59:48Speaker 1: was thinking someone's gonna get serious. Right, Well, then you
- 59:54Speaker 1: got towards acl He needed somebody to help him out,
- 59:58Speaker 1: so he came to stay with me for a week.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Because you know why it calls at l is a
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: serious injury. So now he over your house for a week.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: You loved it because you're crazy about him. Think of
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: him just came naturally, as it does with a lot
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: of women, because a lot of women are very nurturing
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: by nature. Women are the best nurturers in the world.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: So you had a chance to take care of somebody,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: to show him how much you love him and how
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: serious you are. While he had that serious injury. Girl,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: you're making it happen and now here going apart that
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I really want you to talk about. So taking care
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: of him came naturally. Whenever we were together and his
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: phone rang, he'd tell the caller he was with me,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: and he called them back. This made me confident about
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: the direction of our relationship was going on. Who so
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: you're ignoring the fact that the phone ringing, just damn
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: that you your takeaway? What that was? He tell everybody,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: I'm I'm with huh, I'll call you back. That gave
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: you confidence. Girl, you forgot he told you this wasn't
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: nothing serious and based on the conversation, he tell that
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: to everybody. So now when the girls do call him
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: on the phone, he hadn't already told him they got
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: a torn a sill and he stayed with his friend.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: I'm with her right now, I'll call you back, And
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: they cool with that because he hadn't told him they
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: ain't got nothing serious. But mostly he hadn't told them
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: you ain't serious. And if you don't think he told
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: him that, that's why he's so coolly answering his phone,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: because why you gotta he put his phone on vibrated
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: if he was trying to hide something he ain't got to, though,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: he can leave it open because you ain't serious. He
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: told you that, but he told everybody else that. So
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: now that made you confident about the direction your relationship
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: with going in. So I never asked him if we
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: were born for any girlfriend mistake. After two years, were
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: tucked together like glue. Okay, if you saw him, you
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: saw me. That all changed last week when we double
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: dated with one of my girlfriends and her fiance. They
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: got engaged recently and they are so in love and
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: you can feel it. My friend asked my guy if
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: he'd been thinking about marriage, and my guy spoke up
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: and embarrassed me so bad. He said, he's not that.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: We're not that serious yet, see, because his acl fixed
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: and he told you two years ago he wasn't looking
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: for nothing serious. Sure, he said, we're best friends and
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: we love each other, but we're not exclusive out. Now.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I don't know why that affected you, because he'd been
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: asking the phone the whole time. What he told my
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: friend that I'm aware of our status and I'm not
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: pressing him for a title. He told the truth. He
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: told you he didn't want nothing serious. He ain't never
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: gave you a title, and you know you're aware of
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: it because he told you that, And you ain't pressing
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: him for a title, because you said back in the
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: letter you ain't never asked him if you was boyfriend
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: and girlfriend. You said that, so you can't get mad
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: at this guy in this letter at all. I sat
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: there looking stupid and holding back tears. He said he
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: does playing and get married one day when the time
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: is right. What I heard is I'm not the one.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Is he wasting my time? Or is he dating others
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: to get out of his system before he promoted? What
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: where do you get this stuff from that you keep
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: reading into this? You said, is he dating others to
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: get it out of his system before he proposes? He
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: thirty nine? Right? What he thirty nine? Lady? What do
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: you mean he trying to get this out of his
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: system before he proposes? He never told you he wanted
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: to marry you. He's never mentioned marriage to you. You
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: ain't even his girlfriend, and he told it to you
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: in front of your friends. Why you're still there hoping
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: and waiting is beyond me. What are you waiting for? Lady?
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: You know the answer to all of this. Stop reading
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: more into something that ain't there. All you need to
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: do is go in and say, look, I want a title.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: I won't know what his relationship is or we're gonna
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: have to end it bye, and he's gonna just going
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: over there to mother girls. It's called thank you Stoster.

- 1:08:29Speaker 1: We know that Father's Day is this Sunday. So Steve,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Jay and Junior, I gotta ask you, guys, what was
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: the most embarrassing thing your father ever did to you?
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: And what's the best advice your dad ever gave you?
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Call myself going to fight my father. You know, I'm Monday.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: I was gonna stand up and he hit me in
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: the stomach so hard I never I mean, this went
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: all the way to my back. Was like, wow, he's
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: not he not me. He just one punch, you know what.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: I'm like, Let's do this. That's exactly what I said.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: I said, damn it, let's do this. And he hit
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: me in my stomach so damn hard that I passed out.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Let's do this. You said, let's do this. He said,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: all right, let's yea. He said, all right, whoa? Okay,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: my daddy going to school with me as a student.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Because I was talking in claid man my graves was slipping.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: He said, okay, I know you don't want to learn.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: I'll say I'll be there tomorrow. And he was there
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: the whole damn day class to Claid, I ain't never
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: focused on trying to do some homework, and Claid, I
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: was the best thing in that day because my daddy
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: is sitting right behind me, his big ASSAI a dis
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: sitting right knees all out. Don't you know that A
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: some space? I know space though, come out. I mean
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: that whole day, even going to know my friends talk
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: to me that entire day. He got a pen and paper,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: tablet and everything, like I have my locker with me.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: I I can't get no girls in here today day.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Embarrassing thing, come on, embarrassing. Yeah, I don't really know.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I had a great father. My daddy did not do
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: a lot of talking, and his was to make you
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: figure it out. So every summer I had to work
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: construction with him, right I got older, and so his
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: thing was he would be working on the job site
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: and to make sure I was looking, he would look
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: at me and go, I'm fit to do this right here,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: go up there and get that thing from now. I'm
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: fitting to do this right hill up there and get
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: that thing. Now. I gotta walk all the way up
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: this hill and it's it's just at top of the hill,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: is just full of things, and so the first time
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: he's sending them. Then my youngest brother, who's eleven years
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: old of me, he was working with him too. I
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: came back down the hill and I didn't have the
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: right thing, and he said, what's that fall? I said,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I bought it down hill. He said that what the
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: hell would you bring that down here when I'm doing
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: this here? And I told you to bring me that
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: thing down here so I can do this hill. I
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: want it so bad to go, Daddy, do this hill?
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: What and get what thing? Man? Damn? Come on. But
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: my brother looking at me, like, come on, man, just
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: do the one smart thing you got to. So I
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: walked back up that hill, came back down with two
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: things in my hand. I damned wouldn't neither wanted them.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: He said, boy, I raised you to be a thinking man.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: Now I'm fitting to do this here. Go up there
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: and bring that thing down here. When I came back
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: down that here the third time, I had that whole
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: wheel barrel, everything that was on top of that hell.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: I got down there and said okay, and my brother
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: was just laughing. He said, man, you bought all the
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: damn too was down here. He gonna get mad. I
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: bet I'm gonna go back up there with not I
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: wasn't bringing the wrong thing down here, he said, all right,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: and then get that to me. You know. I handed
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: him everything out there, wheel barrel until I got to
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: the last thing. And that's what the hell he wanted.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: That's how my daddy taught us. Huh, I said, Man,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: this dude right here, all right, Steve, thank you. Happy
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Father's Day to all the great fathers out Therapia Smith
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Harvey greatest Daddy Albanue mission Man, We'll have more of
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: today's trending stories on the Steve Harvey Morning Show coming
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: up at twenty minutes after. Right after this, you're listening
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: to Dave Harvey Morning Show. The Steve Harvey Virtual Mentoring
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Program is this Father's Day weekend. Special guests include jeez La,
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Lakers star Taylor Horton, Tucker, Terrence Jay, and many more.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: And Steve, you said that during our mentoring sessions, you've
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: found that the boys are dealing with so much pain
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: because of all the deaths of these young black men.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: And on Saturday, You're going to be having a conversation
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: and a panel called Past the Pain with some of
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: the iconic fathers Tracy Martin, father of Trayvon Martin, Aubrey Wright,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: father of Dante Wright, and Michael Brown's Michael Michael Brown's father,
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: and a lot of African American young men are dealing
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: with the trauma that they see on the news. I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: did one campbell time at my ranch in Dallas, and
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I had the Little Elm Police department come and talk
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: to the boys. And that's when I discovered it. When
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: them police came and talk to them boys, all in
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: black boys wanted to ask the police why y'all always
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: kill us, killing them, and them officers was going, well,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: that's not all of us. That little boys stood up
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: and said he was fifteen. He stood up and said,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: but it's too many. He said, officer, y'all don't never
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: kill black keying us. Ever, he said, y'all just kill us.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: That's why we run. That's why we try to keep
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: driving because if we stop, y'all gonna kill us. That's
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: when I said, Okay, it's a level of stuff going
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: on here that I haven't been noticing. So now we
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: had to add some things to the program to help
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: the boys deal with the pain. Right So, young man,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: they just thirteen to eighteen. Please go to the Harvey
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Foundation dot org for more details. Coming up, we'll have
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: more of the Steve Harvey Morning Show at thirty three
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: minutes after the hour. Right after this, you're listening Harday
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Morning Show. All right, So Juneteenth is now a federal
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: holiday because yesterday President Biden signed into law a measure
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: that makes June the nineteenth, or Juneteenth, a federal holiday
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. As
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: we established Juneteenth as our newest national holiday, let us
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: be clear about what happened on June nineteenth, eighteen sixty five,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: the day we call Juneteenth. Vice President Kamala Harris said,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: speaking of how the enslaved people of Galveston, Texas were
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: the last in the nation to be informed that the
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: Civil War had ended and they would be set free.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: The news was brought to them by The news was
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: brought to them more than two years after President Lincoln
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: signed the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves in the
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: Confederate States. So there you have it. So what happens
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: on this federal holiday? Wellday, yeah, is it a day off? Yeah,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: it's gonna be. Yeah. Thanks clothes, government clothes. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: so I have a not a problem. It's just that,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: like miss miss Harrison was saying, how can we have
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: a holiday for something that we can celebrate, but they
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: don't want us to teach it to the kids in
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: school about the damn day? To me, that will make sense.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: They don't want to talk about slavery. Well, if they
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: want to take slavery out of the history books they
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: want to see, I want you to understand something. This
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: is my opinion of it. This country doesn't like to
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: admit that it's racist. The biggest racial star they have
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: is slavery. So if we get rid of that, see,
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: and you stop teaching it, this younger generation won't know
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: nothing about it. And so now that is all this
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: conversation of what y'all did to us, and then it
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: doesn't allow young people to know the history of this country.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: It will remove our contribution to this country and in
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: the first place, facts, and then it will lessen the
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: guilt that a lot of these people feel that part
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: right and reparations that we might want to talk about,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: they get rid of all of that. Why is it
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: okay to talk about the Holocaust but not slavery. Well,
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: listen to me. The two shouldn't be pitted against one
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: Jewish people. Jewish people not feel to let you play them, period,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: and we shouldn't let them play us. The two greatest
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: atrocities in world history his slavery and the Holocaust. Those
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: are two of the greatest atrocities, atrocities against human kind.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: Those two things cannot be forgotten. Now. The Jewish culture
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: not gonna let you play him. It's still people walking
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: around with numbers on them. All right, job, when we
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: come back, last break of the day and Steve's closing remarks,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: you don't want to miss them. We'll be back at
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: forty nine after you're listening show. All right, here we
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: are our last break of the day on this Friday
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Father's Day weekend. Happy Father's Day to all the dads
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: out there. And I just want to say something to
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: my kids, you know. I know sometimes you guys forget
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: purposely about Father's Day, which is cool. I can deal
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: with it. But the fondest memories I've had with my
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: kids was when they would go on the road with me.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: And I don't know if Steve had this opportunity to
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: do that. I take all of my kids on the road.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: I'm probably working at the Startdoom or something like that.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I you know, lock them up in the room and
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: then I go do my show, and then I had
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: to take them home. Now, if you don't know my
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: backstory about my kids, that got three kids, three baby mamas,
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: we'll talk about that on another show. But anyway, anyway,
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: taking my kids home, and I don't know if Steve
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: or anybody, taking my kids home was the hardest part ever.
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: It was the toughest part ever to drop them kids off.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: And it was so cool that each kid wanted to
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: be the last one to go home, which which meant
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: that's how much time they wanted to be with me.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: They were always trying to encourage me to take the
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: other one home first. So it was so much fun.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: I'll never forget it, you know, just to have my
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: kids on the road with me, and any dad who's
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: taking the kids back and dropping them off a mom
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: it is really, really, really tough. So happy father says
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: with anybody who's ever been to bit and you know,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: I agree with you, But I want to say something
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: man about my father. You know, our greatest influence in
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: my life in terms of turning me into a man,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: because my father never spent any time talking to me
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: about nothing else. I don't ever sitting down, I don't
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: ever remember having a conversation with my dad about prayer
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: or faith, or going to church or nothing. That was
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: my mother. She did all of that. My father's only
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: mission in life was to get me to understand that
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: one day, son, you are going to be responsible for
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: some people. And in order to learn how to do that,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: you got to start being responsible. Now. My father didn't
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: allow me to have like goofy times and stuff like that.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: He was full of court pressing me man, and I
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: tried to raise my sons like that. I didn't accomplish it,
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: though I didn't. I didn't accomplish it because I just
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: thought it was better to let him be a little
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: bit more free and stuff like that, and because my
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: kids had a different life than I had. You know,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: but my father knew exactly what I needed because I
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: had nothing, and he knew that he was gonna leave
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: here and I was gonna have to build this nothing
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: into something. My kids don't have that problem. They started
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: with something, so I didn't have to instill in them
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: the same thing that my father instilling me, and I
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: tried to find little ways to do it. But it's
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: just not the same thing because they see it right there.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: We have our own room. We all have computers, we
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: have our own bathroom in our room. You know, that's
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: how my kids grow up with. We ain't gotta fight,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: We don't go to the we don't go over here.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: We ain't gotta do that. We don't live in the hood,
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: you know. But my father knew differently. He said, this
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: boy of mine, he lives in a place man's that's
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: just wickedly rough. So I gotta get him now. I
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: used to come home, man, crying to my mama because
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: some boy had jumped on and beat me up. Man.
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: My father coming in and see that. Who did it?
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I say, Rickett Many going back out there. I'm be
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: on the porch. You go down there, you whip rick
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: and you whoop Manning. I'm be on this porch. If
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: you're whoop when you come home, we'll whoop you. Well,
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: now we got to go downstairs and get these hands up.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: And I know people think that, well, you know that
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: was you shouldn't make a child do that. You didn't
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: grow up where I grew up. You didn't know what
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: my father knew about it. And then my father was
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: an essence of black man. My father used to tell
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: me stuff man that I thought was so hurtful to say.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: But my father grew up in the time where they
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: mistreated black people in your face all the time. And
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: I watched my father and mother cry when I came
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: in the house and found out that Marl Luther King
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: was dead. That's I seen my mother and father standing
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: there hole in each other crime. I heard my father say,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: white folks don't care nothing about us. They don't want
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: us to have nothing. All this man talked about was
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: peace and love. They don't want us to hear that.
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: I watched my father struggle and suffer. Man but steady,
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: always embedding in me the thought process of work hard,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: don't ask nobody for nothing. God bless the child that
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: has his own. Get your own. Don't ask nobody for nothing.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: Work hard, boy. Look, if they tell you to be
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: there in five, you be there at quarter to five.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: If they tell you they stay in to six, you
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: make sure everybody going for you. Check out. My father
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: raised me that way. I remember when I flunked out
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: of college and I started working at for a motor company.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: Whenever they needed somebody to call over time they call
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I come in earlier everything. I remember one time a
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: foreman called my house and asked my father was out there,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: and I wasn't there, you know, and I was staying
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: somewhere else. And he told my father, said, mister Harvey,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: can I tell you something you don't know me? Sir,
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: I'm a supervisor here for a motor company. You've raised
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: one hell of a young man. He's one of the
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: hardest working young man I've ever seen come through this
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: door for a motor company. That made my father the
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: proudest he's ever been. And my father told me, he says, son,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: that man telling me that was bigger for me than
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: you told me you was going to college. He said,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: I ain't know none about college, no how he said,
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: But when that man called and said you was one
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: of the hardest workers he's ever seen come through that door.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: He said, that's what I raised you to be. He said,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: when I die and I lead as well, you let
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: him always be able to say about Steve Harvey Slick's
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: board that they can out dress you, they can outthrow you,
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: they can outrun you. They can out eat you, they
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: can outdance you, and they can outsand you. But don't
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: you let no man live it say they can outwork you.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: He instilled it that in me, and I would not
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: be who I am. It wasn't for that black man
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: with a third grade education who raised a boy that
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: turned out to be global. I thank God for him
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: every day. Appreciate h schlick hardy, Hope, be proud of me.
