- 0:00Today's tech news moves fast, but understanding
- 0:03it shouldn't be hard. That's why Snarfl Solutions
- 0:06Group brings you Connecting the Dots, where we
- 0:09break down what's happening in tech and why it
- 0:11matters to you. Now, let's dive in with your
- 0:14hosts. Hello and welcome to Connecting the Dots.
- 0:17I'm Alex. And I'm Morgan. It is Wednesday, November
- 0:2026th, 2025. And if you're here in Sacramento
- 0:23with us, well, you know, there's a dense fog
- 0:25advisory out there until about 11 a .m. Yeah,
- 0:28dry safe. And for everyone else traveling for
- 0:31the Thanksgiving holiday, a quick national alert.
- 0:35There's heavy snow and even blizzard conditions
- 0:37across the northern plains and Great Lakes. Plus
- 0:40some really strong winds on the East Coast. So
- 0:43travel is going to be challenging. Just a heads
- 0:45up. Alright, let's take a quick look at the markets.
- 0:46A little bit of optimism here. The Dow is up
- 0:49about 136 points. Up 0 .29%. And for the week,
- 0:54it's actually up over 2%. The S &P 500 is also
- 0:57in the green, up about 6 points or 0 .09%. And
- 1:00Bitcoin is. Well, it's down just a little bit
- 1:03on the day, about half a percent. Before we jump
- 1:05into our Morningstar report, let's talk about
- 1:08holiday gifts. Yes. If you have a techie friend,

- 1:32Check them out at OldGlory .com. Alright, let's
- 1:35get into it. Our first story is a huge one. It
- 1:38really signals the end of the Wild West for AI
- 1:41music. We are talking about the big copyright
- 1:44pivot for generators like Suno and Udio. And
- 1:47the scale here is just, it's almost hard to wrap
- 1:50your head around. Suno is reportedly creating
- 1:52seven million songs a day. Seven million daily?
- 1:57That's like adding an entire Spotify catalog
- 1:59to the world every two weeks. Mostly from, what,
- 2:01young men. Yeah, the primary users are male,
- 2:04aged about 25 to 34. But the really jaw -dropping
- 2:07part, the thing that made them an instant legal
- 2:09target, is the money. This is the part that gets
- 2:11me. Tell us about the spend. OK, so since the
- 2:13start of 2024, Sino has spent over $32 million
- 2:17on compute power. You know, the servers, the
- 2:20hardware, the energy to run the AI. $32 million,
- 2:22OK. Now, compare that to what they spend on the
- 2:25data to train the model, the actual music. Go
- 2:29on. $2 ,000. Wait. $32 million for the engine
- 2:33and $2 ,000 for the fuel. Exactly. I mean, it's
- 2:36no wonder the major labels like Universal and
- 2:39Warner filed a massive $500 million lawsuit against
- 2:42them. Right. They basically said you stole the
- 2:44entire history of music to build your product.
- 2:46And that legal pressure absolutely worked. Now
- 2:49we're seeing these major licensing breakthroughs.
- 2:51Udio already settled with Universal and Warner.
- 2:54And now the big one. Suno has just struck its
- 2:57first major deal with Warner Music Group. This
- 3:00is the template for the future. It basically
- 3:02confirms that the whole fair use argument that
- 3:04AI companies were leaning on, it's failing. So
- 3:08the era of just scraping copyrighted music for
- 3:11free to train your AI, that's over. It's over.
- 3:14The industry has forced them to the table. This
- 3:16is the start of a licensed, regulated system
- 3:19that really kicks off in 2026. So what does that
- 3:21actually mean for, you know, the person at home
- 3:24just having fun making songs? It means restrictions
- 3:27are on the way. For songs made on the free tier,
- 3:30you won't be able to download them anymore. You
- 3:31can play them. You can share them. You can't
- 3:34save the file. And what about for paid users?
- 3:37Even the paid tiers will get monthly download
- 3:39caps. So the days of unlimited free downloadable
- 3:42AI music are coming to an end. And this is all
- 3:45supposed to benefit the human artists, right?
- 3:47To make sure they get compensated. How does the
- 3:50new deal actually do that? Well, that's the tricky
- 3:52part. The new Warner Music template. creates
- 3:54this opt -in structure. An opt -in? Yeah. Artists
- 3:58can now actively choose to let their name, their
- 4:01voice, their compositions be used in new AI -generated
- 4:05music. It gives them a new way to get paid by
- 4:07proactively giving permission. So the future
- 4:10isn't about fighting the tech. It's about controlling
- 4:13your likeness within it and getting it cut. Precisely.
- 4:16And here's a really fascinating curveball in
- 4:18all of this. Suno isn't just signing a deal.
- 4:21They're also acquiring Songkick from Warner Music.
- 4:24Songkick. The concert discovery platform. The
- 4:27very one. Think about that synergy. You combine
- 4:30AI music creation with live music discovery.
- 4:33It shows Suno wants to be part of the entire
- 4:35music life cycle. From a bedroom idea to a stadium
- 4:39tour. Wow. That's not a company trying to survive
- 4:42a lawsuit. That's a company trying to become
- 4:43a foundational piece of the new music industry.
- 4:47Exactly. Okay, so moving from digital creation
- 4:49to... digital marketplaces. Our next story shows
- 4:52that regulatory threats are getting, let's say,
- 4:56existential, especially in Europe. Yeah, the
- 4:58big takeaway here is that being a massive global
- 5:01company gives you zero protection from local
- 5:04laws, especially when it comes to sensitive content.
- 5:06And we are talking about some really aggressive
- 5:08action out of France against platforms like Sheen,
- 5:11AliExpress, and Zoom. This all centers on some
- 5:14truly awful illegal contraint. The French consumer
- 5:17watchdog, the DGCCRF, found sex dolls with a
- 5:20childlike appearance being sold on Sheen's site.
- 5:23And this is where it goes from just a product
- 5:25safety issue to something much, much more serious.
- 5:28Oh, absolutely. The French economy minister didn't
- 5:31just issue a fine. He threatened to ban or block
- 5:34Sheen from the French market entirely. Ban the
- 5:36entire platform. That feels like a nuclear option
- 5:39for a regulator. It is. He cited laws that are
- 5:42usually reserved for the most serious crimes,
- 5:45you know, terrorism or child pornography. Under
- 5:48French law, they can just tell internet providers
- 5:50to block the site completely. It's an immediate
- 5:53existential threat. So France is basically saying,
- 5:56if you want access to our market, you are responsible
- 5:58for everything sold on your platform. No excuses.
- 6:02Exactly. And it's not just Sheen. AliExpress
- 6:05and Zoom are facing legal complaints. Tmoo. Wish.
- 6:09eBay. They're all under investigation, too. So
- 6:12how is Sheen defending itself? The defense is
- 6:15it wasn't us. It was a third -party seller on
- 6:17our marketplace. They took the products down,
- 6:20even removed the whole adult category for a while
- 6:22for review. But that excuse is wearing thin.
- 6:24It is. And the timing for Sheen is just terrible.
- 6:28This is all happening right as they're about
- 6:29to open their first permanent physical store
- 6:31in Paris. Oh, the irony. You're getting celebrated
- 6:34for opening a brick and mortar store while simultaneously
- 6:36facing a threat of being wiped off the French
- 6:38internet. It's a PR nightmare. Protests are already
- 6:41starting. The department store that's hosting
- 6:43them had to come out and promise that no products
- 6:45from Sheen's international marketplace will be
- 6:48sold in the physical store. So they're having
- 6:50to fracture their own brand just to manage the
- 6:53crisis. This really sets a precedent, doesn't
- 6:56it? Europe is willing to use its biggest legal
- 6:58hammers to enforce digital governance. It really
- 7:01does. Okay, let's pivot to our final story. We're
- 7:05diving into the world of corporate crypto and
- 7:07specifically Michael Saylor's company, Strategy.
- 7:12Formerly MicroStrategy or MSTR on the stock market
- 7:15and man have they had a rough month. The stock
- 7:18has plunged more than 50 cents percent. 56. And
- 7:21obviously a lot of that is because Bitcoin itself
- 7:23had that massive 34 percent drop from its recent
- 7:26high. Right. Investors treat MSTR stock as basically
- 7:29a leveraged bet on Bitcoin. But the volatility
- 7:32isn't even the biggest threat right now. This
- 7:34is the part of the story that's new. It's an
- 7:36institutional threat. The 12 billion dollar index
- 7:39threat. This is the real story. JP Morgan put
- 7:42out this stark warning. The threat comes from
- 7:45major index providers like MSCI. Okay, let's
- 7:48break that down. What is an index provider and
- 7:51why do they suddenly care so much about what
- 7:53strategy owns? So an index is just a list of
- 7:56stocks like the Nasdaq 100. And huge passive
- 8:00investment funds, they have to own the stocks
- 8:02on that list. If you're on the list, billions
- 8:05of dollars flow to you automatically. If you
- 8:07get kicked off the list. Those billions flow
- 8:09right back out. It's a forced sell -off. And
- 8:12MSCI is now considering a rule change. What's
- 8:14the change? They're thinking of excluding any
- 8:16company where digital assets like Strategies'
- 8:19massive Bitcoin horde make up more than 50 %
- 8:22of its total assets. So MSCI is essentially saying,
- 8:25hey, you look less like a software company and
- 8:27more like a Bitcoin fund, and funds don't belong
- 8:30on our index. That's it exactly. They're for
- 8:32operating companies. And the decision on this
- 8:34is coming soon, January 15th. Wow. And if they
- 8:37get dropped, what's the financial damage? It's
- 8:39huge. Passive funds hold about $9 billion of
- 8:42MSTR stock. JP Morgan estimates an initial sell
- 8:45-off of almost $3 billion, instantly. That is
- 8:49a massive forced liquidity crisis caused by a
- 8:53technical rule change. And yet, Michael Saylor
- 8:56is... Well, he's defiant. completely unfazed.
- 9:00He's on the record saying strategy is indestructible,
- 9:02the best capitalized company in the crypto economy.
- 9:06He says the company is built to withstand an
- 9:0780 to 90 percent drop in Bitcoin. So he sees
- 9:10this as noise, maybe even a buying opportunity.
- 9:13He's betting everything on the asset, even if
- 9:15it costs him access to the biggest investment
- 9:17pools in the world. He is. But to be fair, there
- 9:20is a counterbalance. Some analysts, like at Benchmark,
- 9:23still have a buy rating on the stock and a high
- 9:25price target. They argue this is just macro volatility,
- 9:28not a broken strategy. So the big picture here
- 9:31is this incredible high -stakes tradeoff. You
- 9:34have the massive potential upside of a Bitcoin
- 9:36treasury versus the catastrophic risk of being
- 9:39kicked out of the institutional investment club.
- 9:41a club whose rulebook is still being written
- 9:43in real time. All right. Before we wrap up, a
- 9:45quick shout out to our sponsor, SCONI. If you're
- 9:48a golfer or you're shopping for one this holiday

- 10:09Okay, so let's do a quick recap of the three
- 10:12huge stories we covered first AI music is officially
- 10:15entering its regulated phase the Warner music
- 10:18and Suno deal creates a new License model where
- 10:21artists get compensated? but it means more restrictions
- 10:24for users. Second, global e -commerce giants
- 10:26like Shane are facing real existential threats
- 10:29from European regulators over illegal content.
- 10:32It proves that global scale is no defense against
- 10:34strict local laws. And finally, Michael Saylor's
- 10:37strategy is facing a potential $12 billion threat,
- 10:40not from Bitcoin's price, but from being excluded
- 10:43from major stock indexes, forcing a choice between
- 10:46crypto conviction and institutional acceptance.
