- 0:00God spoke to me in a dream. God was breaking my heart for
- 0:02what breaks His and it was very intense, but.
- 0:05You're like, we're going to be the best diaper company in the
- 0:06world. We're going to build something
- 0:08as good or better than Yelp or Amazon.
- 0:10Did you ever have any inkling of that?
- 0:11Like a little premonition from God that I would be a
- 0:14businesswoman and my husband and I would be entrepreneurs.
- 0:17We have one life, this is it. Let's leave the legacy that we
- 0:19want to leave behind us. Culture likes to save.
- 0:22Kids are just going to set you back and they're going to steal
- 0:25your dreams. My story's the complete
- 0:26opposite. My child literally made me dream
- 0:30so big so I could create something for her.
- 0:32That one was good for her body, that.
- 0:35Celebrated at age 21, she found herself crying on the floor of
- 0:38her dorm room bathroom wondering who am I and who is God?
- 0:41Her wholehearted surrender to Jesus Christ would lead to
- 0:44marriage, motherhood, a new call to fight for life, and the
- 0:48building of several successful businesses.
- 0:50Welcome back to the Lila Roe show.
- 0:52Today I sit down with Sarah Gable who dramatically gave her
- 0:56life to Jesus Christ in college, which changed everything for
- 0:59her. Sarah Gable is a mother, a wife
- 1:01and entrepreneur, and the founder of some companies that
- 1:04we love here in the show including Every Life and Public
- 1:07Square. In this conversation, we
- 1:09discussed spiritual entrepreneurship.
- 1:11We discussed the ups and downs of starting something big with a
- 1:14big vision but not a lot of resources, motherhood, as well
- 1:18as being involved in business, marriage, and ultimately
- 1:21following God's call for our lives.

- 1:50podcast. Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:52I love talking to you, so I'm excited to share you with the
- 1:54audience here. I'm very impressed by your
- 1:57family. First of all, what you guys have
- 1:59built. You're both very early 30s,
- 2:01hardly 30 and in your 20s. You've built a tremendously
- 2:05impactful company, multiple businesses that are, I think
- 2:08leading in the conservative space, Public Square, every
- 2:11life, diapers, we love every life on the show.
- 2:13My kids and my family uses it. But I think the story behind
- 2:16what you guys have built is so beautiful and your story.
- 2:18So this is going to inspire you guys listening, OK?
- 2:21Especially if you're an aspiring entrepreneur, if you're a mom,
- 2:24if you want to be a mom one day and you're also feeling called
- 2:26the business. Sarah, thank you.
- 2:29Thank you. I really appreciate it and it
- 2:31has been an incredible journey. And honestly, I go back to when
- 2:35I first came to know Christ in my heart and I accepted him as
- 2:40my Lord and Savior and went all in.
- 2:42And that was really in my early 20s before I had met Michael.
- 2:47And once I made that commitment to him, it was like my whole
- 2:51world turned around for the good.
- 2:53And I, I actually remember saying it felt like I was seeing
- 2:57colors for the first time. Everything was brighter.
- 3:00I had more vision as I started to walk with God intimately and
- 3:04give them all of my desires and hopes and dreams.
- 3:07And it was in that season that God started to actually show me.
- 3:11And I remember him saying, get ready to pack your bags because
- 3:16we're going to go on a ride together.
- 3:17And I got so excited for that. In my head, I was picturing
- 3:22missionary work or traveling the world and just spending time
- 3:26with God intimately. And I had no idea at that time,
- 3:29when I was 21 years old, what was ahead.
- 3:32And I was about to meet my husband, Michael, and we were
- 3:34going to get married at a very young age.
- 3:36And go on this journey that looked very different than what
- 3:40I ever would have imagined, but I wouldn't have it any other
- 3:43way. It's been a grand adventure.
- 3:45And I know we'll get into all of that as we keep talking, but it
- 3:48was a pivotal time that I'm so thankful God prepared my heart
- 3:52for. Because if you wouldn't have
- 3:54told me that at that time, it would have been a little more
- 3:57intimidating stepping into all of the things that He has called
- 4:00us to. And to be honest, it's just been
- 4:03out of divine obedience that we have said yes to all that He has
- 4:09called us into. And I'm so humbled, honestly,
- 4:11Lila, that I even get to do what I do every day.
- 4:15I counted as a privilege and a blessing.
- 4:18And every day I look to God and say, you know, if you have
- 4:22anything else for me, I always want to be listening and
- 4:25available to turn because we should.
- 4:28We all need to be in that place of surrender every day.
- 4:31But I get this deep settled confidence every time I wake up
- 4:36and I look to him and I just we keep walking and we just keep
- 4:39saying yes. And he's opened up door after
- 4:41door and closed many doors too. But all of it has been to say
- 4:46yes to him and for his glory. So I'm so honored to be here.
- 4:51You're a really big part of my journey as well, of how I even
- 4:54got into the pro-life movement. And it's been, like I said, an
- 4:58adventure that I wouldn't change for the world.
- 5:02I love you bringing it back to that moment where you gave your
- 5:04life to Christ and it was total surrender.
- 5:06It sounds like you're like God. Whatever you want, here I am.
- 5:09And I think we can do that every day, like no matter where you're
- 5:12at in your faith journey, even if you feel you have no faith,
- 5:14you can start today, say, Jesus, I trust in you, here I am, your
- 5:18will be done to totally give your life to God and he will
- 5:21take us on an adventure. So what you're saying resonates
- 5:24so deeply with me because it's been my experience of just when
- 5:27you say yes to God, what he can do, and it doesn't mean it's
- 5:30easy, but it means it's incredible.
- 5:32It's just this incredible journey.
- 5:33So there's a lot I want to get into the journey and, and, and
- 5:35the UPS and the downs of it. But I have a question.
- 5:38Before you said yes to Jesus and that totally changed your life.
- 5:42You would meet your husband, you would get married and now build
- 5:45and be on this crazy journey. I, I, we're going to talk about
- 5:48that journey. But what was Sarah like before,
- 5:52you know, BC before Jesus, before Christ?
- 5:55And how is she different today? So growing up, I was raised in
- 5:59Birmingham, AL, and if you're familiar with the the South,
- 6:02there's a church on every corner.
- 6:04So I went to church with my family and I had great,
- 6:07incredible, strong, faithful parents and two siblings.
- 6:10And honestly, my life was very blessed.
- 6:13I didn't have a ton of hardships, but internally, for
- 6:17the longest time, I just didn't know who I was.
- 6:19I didn't know who I wanted to be.
- 6:20And I cared very deeply about what others thought of me.
- 6:23And so performance was something I really struggled, struggled
- 6:27with. I felt I needed to prove myself
- 6:29in any room that I was in to earn love and acceptance from
- 6:32those around me. And that led me into not making
- 6:35always the best decisions. And I, I definitely live the
- 6:40life. If you actually look at, I love
- 6:41the book of James, there's a verse in there about how you can
- 6:45look at yourself in the mirror and you see one face and then
- 6:47you walk away and you totally forget what you look like.
- 6:51And I felt like that was my life.
- 6:52I'd wake up every day, I'd look at myself in the mirror, I'd
- 6:55walk away and then say, who am I going to be today?
- 6:58Am I going to be the fun preppy girl?
- 7:00Am I going to be the one that's a little more cool and chill?
- 7:02Am I going to go to the party? Or am I going to say no and and
- 7:06try to do the right Christian thing?
- 7:09And I couldn't quite figure it out.
- 7:11I couldn't ground my feet into a core belief system that I could
- 7:16live by and have a strong yes and have a strong no.
- 7:20And I struggled with that for years and years and years.
- 7:23And before I met Christ, I had this moment in college.
- 7:28And this really was my, my, my moment, my coming to Jesus
- 7:31moment where again, I was faced with looking at myself in the
- 7:35mirror and I had had a long night of going out and having
- 7:39too much to drink and again, not making the best decisions and
- 7:43getting in the wrong crowd. And I just remember looking at
- 7:47myself and thinking, this is not who I want to be.
- 7:50This is not who I know I can be. And this isn't the woman that I
- 7:55know God wants me to to be. And I remember getting on the
- 8:01floor literally in my bathroom in college and just crying out
- 8:04to God and just saying God, I know you're real.
- 8:07I know you're there. I have a lot of head knowledge
- 8:09about you. I've opened your word.
- 8:12I know Scripture is truth. I've been to church.
- 8:16I know what worship is. I know the songs.
- 8:19But there's 18 inches from your head to your heart.
- 8:21And it had never really hit my heart until that moment or I
- 8:25said, I'm not just going to believe.
- 8:26It's not just going to be something that I know in my
- 8:28brain, but I really want it to resonate in my heart and be so
- 8:31real to me that I can walk in freedom with God.
- 8:35That when I repent, that when I give my whole life over to him,
- 8:39he truly does wash us clean, white as snow.
- 8:41And He gives us a new start. And that's what's so amazing
- 8:44about walking with Jesus as you get this opportunity to start
- 8:48fresh and be renewed. And I got to do that with him
- 8:51sitting in my bathroom in college.
- 8:53And my whole life turned around. I changed my friend group.
- 8:57I broke up with the guy I was dating at the time.
- 9:00And I've always been one that's a little bit more black and
- 9:03white. I am either all in or kind of
- 9:06all out. That's been my personality most
- 9:08of my life, even when I was struggling with my identity and
- 9:10who I was. And so I went all in and I
- 9:13became the the person that I knew was inside of me.
- 9:17I just was burying it so deep and I'm so grateful that God met
- 9:22me in that moment and I had this turning and I've never looked
- 9:25back. What a blessing and and and it's
- 9:28so beautiful because it's you were raised in a Christian
- 9:31family. So you had met Jesus in the
- 9:33sense that I'm going to guess your family shared about the
- 9:36Gospel with you. Jesus.
- 9:38You understood it sounds like the Bible.
- 9:40There was head knowledge, but that wasn't a personal radical
- 9:43commitment in the depths of your soul.
- 9:44Say yes to God, whatever he has for me.
- 9:46And it was also the world, right, The temptations of the
- 9:49world, which it's there for all of us.
- 9:52It looks different for each person, but for a lot of young
- 9:54women, especially in college, it's like, OK, do you live this
- 9:58party life? Do you go out?
- 10:00Do you do things with boyfriends or mess around?
- 10:02Like what does that look like? Or are you going to be clean?
- 10:04Are you going to say, no, I want to reject the waves of the
- 10:06world. I want to walk with God.
- 10:08And that is a a black and white thing.
- 10:10It is, which is hard because the world is saying like it's not a
- 10:13big deal. Just have fun, do these things.
- 10:15So but it was you're, you're willing to say, I want to follow
- 10:19you And then your radical posture of your heart.
- 10:21I just want to be open to what God is going to do in my life,
- 10:23whatever that is. OK, So you, well how did you
- 10:26meet Michael, your business partner, which I love that your
- 10:28husband's your business partner. So once I had this moment in my
- 10:31bathroom all alone in college, I started to look, I was ending my
- 10:36freshman year and I was approaching the summer.
- 10:38I was studying Economics and Business and real estate and
- 10:41wanted to have this grand internship, right, that would
- 10:44help me move forward towards the career that I had set for
- 10:48myself. And all of a sudden I, I, I
- 10:51remember God reminding me of this camp that I went to with my
- 10:55dad when I was 15 years old. It's called JH Ranch.
- 10:58It's in the middle of nowhere, California, in a town called
- 11:01Aetna. And it's the most beautiful
- 11:03place, not only from just the scenic views, but the heart of
- 11:07the ministry is all about the restoration of the family unit.
- 11:10So they have parents and teens, husbands and wives, newly
- 11:14engaged couples, student leadership programs where they
- 11:16all come out in the mountains. There's no cell service.
- 11:19So you're free from distractions.
- 11:21And the purpose is to get your relationship right with your
- 11:23Heavenly Father and then work on your relationships on earth and
- 11:27strengthen those so you leave feeling like you have the
- 11:31connections that we really need in life.
- 11:34And I had such an incredible time there with my dad.
- 11:37It was phenomenal. And I just remember the the
- 11:40conversations we had, we talked about purity.
- 11:43We talked about our purpose and how a life not evaluated is a
- 11:47life not worth living. Socrates actually coined that.
- 11:50And it's so true. And I just started to recall
- 11:52these lessons that did hold true to my heart and stick.
- 11:57And I said, I want to go back to that place.
- 12:00And even if it means just serving my time out there as a
- 12:03college student and giving back to the ministry that had so
- 12:06blessed me and my family, I want to do it.
- 12:09So I went, I applied and I got accepted, praise God.
- 12:12And I got to spend a whole summer out at JH Ranch just
- 12:14serving and loving on the parents and teens that were out
- 12:18there. And it was phenomenal.
- 12:20And I met Michael out there and we were best friends.
- 12:24Actually. It was really a wonderful way to
- 12:27start a relationship because we were in ministry together and we
- 12:30were watching parents and teens get healed and relationships, we
- 12:34were stored. So we were just seeing miracles
- 12:36happen all around us. And it was a beautiful summer.
- 12:39And I actually remember telling him I, I really looked up to
- 12:42him. He's, he's a year younger than
- 12:44me, but he was so mature and so different than any man I had
- 12:47ever met. And I just remember telling him,
- 12:50Michael, whoever you marry one day is going to be the luckiest
- 12:53girl in the world. I told him that that's so cute.
- 12:56And I have really, truly, I meant it with all of my heart
- 12:58because I saw him again, more as like a mentor and kind of a
- 13:00leader because he had been walking with God a little bit
- 13:03longer and just had so much depth and so much knowledge that
- 13:07I just wanted to pull from every chance I could get.
- 13:10And then a year later, God changed.
- 13:13They say at JH Ranch, they actually call it just hitched
- 13:16ranch as a, as a joke, because a lot, a lot of college students
- 13:20who all love the Lord and are passionate are coming together
- 13:23in a very beautiful place, kind of a little bubble.
- 13:26And a lot of marriages actually do come out of JH Ranch.
- 13:29And they say you can fall in like there, but you can't fall
- 13:32in love. And so we kind of fell in like
- 13:34with each other. And then afterwards we got to
- 13:36know each other outside of the bubble and that wonderful
- 13:39environment and we fell in love and it was pretty quick.
- 13:43We got married at 22 and 21. Beautiful.
- 13:48Did you have a sense when you met him?
- 13:50This is some I mean, you're talking about him being a woman
- 13:53being blessed who would marry him.
- 13:54I'm sure it crossed your mind, like he'd make it great.
- 13:56Absolutely. OK, so you were absolutely.
- 13:58You were just trying to respect the JH rules of like we don't
- 14:01date during the summer. And I think I was a little he,
- 14:04he intimidated me a little bit because I like I mentioned, I'd
- 14:07never met anybody that was so full of faith and so full of
- 14:11conviction. And he was just different.
- 14:15And I remember being a little afraid of what it would look
- 14:19like to be in a relationship with someone like that because I
- 14:23had kind of been more of the leader in the relationships
- 14:26previously that I had been in. And I knew that he was different
- 14:29and it would look very different.
- 14:30And we had such a beautiful friendship that I didn't want to
- 14:33harm that relationship either. But I remember feeling a shift
- 14:37in our relationship one of the summers we were out there.
- 14:40And I knew that he, he had changed his, his views on me
- 14:45just being a friend. And I started to notice and I
- 14:47just went to God one morning and prayed and said, God, if this is
- 14:50you and if this is the relationship you want me to step
- 14:54into, then I'm just going to trust you with it.
- 14:56And it's, it's a little scary, it's a little uncomfortable.
- 14:58I'm young. This isn't what I thought my
- 15:01life would look like at this stage, but I'm going to just
- 15:04walk with you. And I remember after I prayed
- 15:06that surrender prayer, I saw him that morning and my heart like
- 15:11sunk and I got nervous and I had butterflies.
- 15:14Like I felt like a little girl in middle school.
- 15:16And I remember thinking God just tore the veil.
- 15:19It's like I was seeing him for the first time.
- 15:21So it was a really divine story of God just making it very
- 15:25known. He was the person that I was
- 15:27going to spend the I knew in that moment he was going to be
- 15:29the person I'd spend the rest of my life with.
- 15:31So all right, I have to ask. I know he's not here to tell his
- 15:34side of the story, but do you know what his experience was?
- 15:37Was he also having a sense of God saying Sarah is for you?
- 15:41He was. And it happened.
- 15:42You're so lovely, Sarah. I'm sure he's like so sweet and
- 15:44she's telling me I'd make a good husband.
- 15:46I'm like for you, Sarah, but I'm not allowed to say that yet.
- 15:50Yeah, I do think that it happened for him a few months
- 15:52prior and he knew that God absolutely spoke to him and kind
- 15:59of the same experience. Like I walked out and he just
- 16:01kind of saw me differently and but it just happened for him at
- 16:05a earlier stage, but I was pretty quickly after that.
- 16:07Was his prayer or was your prayer intentionally?
- 16:09God, give me the eyes to see the person you have planned for me.
- 16:12Yeah, my whole life, and I know my parents, that was their
- 16:14prayer too. So even go back to just the
- 16:17power of prayer, the generational prayers, right,
- 16:20that are so powerful, and then they all come to life in one
- 16:23moment and you just see God's hand every step of the way.
- 16:27And we actually were in multiple environments leading up to Jay
- 16:31Tranche that summer where we could have met each other.
- 16:33He actually went to Jay Tranche at 15 as well with his dad, but
- 16:37I never met him at that program. He went to the University of
- 16:40Alabama where I graduated, and we were in the same kind of
- 16:43friend group. We never met each other, but it
- 16:45was God's perfect timing and I'm so grateful for that because it
- 16:49was the right time for us to meet and he was going to be the
- 16:52person that I got to go on this grand adventure with.
- 16:56And like I said, it wasn't what I envisioned for my life.
- 16:58I kind of had a little bit Lila of the buying the lie at an
- 17:03early age of career. First, go make yourself known
- 17:09and be able to supply for yourself financially.
- 17:14And I thought I would get married when I was 30.
- 17:16I mean, that's kind of how I pictured my life.
- 17:19So when I say that drastic turning of you asked who I was
- 17:23before Jesus and who I was after, I mean, my friends didn't
- 17:27even recognize me because I just was talking different and I was
- 17:30seeing life different. And now I had this man in my
- 17:33life that I was ready to marry. And they're like, wait, you were
- 17:36saying you wanted to get married when you're 30 and now you're
- 17:39you're 21 and ready to jump into that this in this early stage of
- 17:45your life. And I just said, yeah, I just
- 17:47knew. And like I said, I'm so
- 17:49thankful. I'm so thankful that God turned
- 17:51my heart because I think that getting married young and I know
- 17:55everyone's story is so different, but I will say look
- 17:58back and I would wish that for anybody to be able to do life in
- 18:04companionship with your best friend, going through the first
- 18:07ever apartment purchase together in LA and navigating what jobs
- 18:12we're going to, you know, pursue and just praying together as
- 18:16best friends and a couple. Man, I that was some of the best
- 18:19times of our relationship was right after we got married and
- 18:23we were just trying to figure it out together.

- 21:03By the way, big shout out to you for making it here.
- 21:05So glad Sarah is about to deliver this beautiful baby in a
- 21:08few weeks. So, and I think there's so many
- 21:11themes here that I want to explore because there are very,
- 21:14I think confused today, quite frankly, women in work and
- 21:18motherhood and marriage, what that looks like.
- 21:20Oh, we, we, we reject modern feminism.
- 21:22Of course, modern feminism is about abortion, gender ideology,
- 21:26all of these things. But what is the core of what God
- 21:29has for women? The principles and then it looks
- 21:32different for individual women. And what does that all mean?
- 21:35And then obviously building, building a really mission driven
- 21:38business that's been very, I think effective and influential
- 21:43in a worldly sense, in a good way, because I think there's
- 21:46also a tendency with a lot of Christians to kind of try to
- 21:49stay in the Christian bubble. And we are sometimes afraid of
- 21:53building things that can compete, you know, with the
- 21:56world and be basically the new institutions in the world.
- 21:59And I think that's been very much the mission I've seen is
- 22:01like you're unapologetic about your values and your mission,
- 22:04but you're like, we're going to be the best diaper company in
- 22:05the world. We're going to build, you know,
- 22:07something as good or better than Yelp or Amazon or different, you
- 22:11know, variations of the two and, and the other initiatives you
- 22:13guys have. And we're going to, you know, be
- 22:15on the New York, the New York Stock Exchange and be a publicly
- 22:18traded company and do do all these things.
- 22:19I mean, that's it. It's big thinking, right, which
- 22:22I love, but it's grounded in the foundations of faith and truth.
- 22:28So anyways, lots of, lots of places to go, but let's go back
- 22:31to the early years because you were on this new mission,
- 22:35mission. You have this husband.
- 22:36You weren't expecting to do this, but God's just doing this
- 22:39amazing thing in your life. What was preparing you at that
- 22:42time mindset wise and heart wise for the road that God was going
- 22:46to lead you on with building these businesses and having the
- 22:49influence you, you all have had both in politics and culture.
- 22:52What What were the early lessons that you learned and the
- 22:56formation that you received? Yeah, and we started like I
- 22:59mentioned in LA and we got to be a part of church planting.
- 23:03And I actually think that was a beautiful way to start.
- 23:06Anybody who is wondering what should I do right out of college
- 23:10and and maybe they're lost. I think serving your local
- 23:13church is one of the best places to dive in, to grow in your
- 23:18relationship obviously with the Lord, but see God work in the
- 23:22church. And that was a really humbling
- 23:25and beautiful growing season. And actually the church that we
- 23:28worked for in Lai thought we were going there to minister to
- 23:33the non believers and Manhattan Beach where we were kind of
- 23:37located. The year was that.
- 23:38This was this was in 20/17/2018. So in that area most are non
- 23:44believers. I think it's 8 and 10.
- 23:47Most are are not following Christ.
- 23:50And that was what we thought our time was going to be, you know,
- 23:55spent doing is is helping the community around us.
- 23:58But we learned really quickly that it was actually the church
- 24:00that we were meant to minister to because we just had some
- 24:03different belief systems and ways of of seeing things.
- 24:08And that was a really beautiful time for us to even dig deeper
- 24:12as a couple and say, well, God, who do we know you to be and
- 24:15what does your Scripture say? So I remember there was multiple
- 24:18nights of us just opening up God's word and just reading his
- 24:21Scripture and saying, OK, this is this is what he says and this
- 24:24is how we see it. And let's just pray for God to
- 24:27continuously reveal his ways and his workings, especially when
- 24:32we're with other believers that might not see it the same way.
- 24:35It was very, it was a very interesting time and I'm so
- 24:37thankful for it because it tested my faith and it made me
- 24:41actually get uncomfortable and have some hard conversations
- 24:44about what I know is true and hear other sides and just have
- 24:48some really good healthy debates.
- 24:50And I think we're also missing that in society today, too, is
- 24:53just good dialogue and hearing both sides of the aisle and
- 24:57learning how to have productive conversations.
- 24:59So that was a really big lesson learned was just rooting myself
- 25:03in my faith and doing that alongside my husband.
- 25:07I also think that in that time, you know, we became one.
- 25:11They God says, you know, become fruitful and multiply and to to
- 25:16get married and become one. And I was young and I was used
- 25:20to being under my my father's covering and I had a very
- 25:23beautiful relationship and close relationship with my dad.
- 25:26But I had to learn what it looked like to now have another
- 25:29man in life that I leaned on that was my the leader in the
- 25:33household and what it looked like to serve him and to love
- 25:36him and to listen to him and be led by him and, and that was
- 25:40beautiful. So I look back and all of these
- 25:42lessons that really were foundational, that allowed us to
- 25:46be able to be in a place to hear from God to get a different
- 25:50direction. We weren't thinking that
- 25:52politics and culture in the pro-life movement in our early
- 25:5520s was going to be the direction we went.
- 25:58We were again planting churches. It was in the non profit sector
- 26:01for a very long time. And it was 2019 that there was a
- 26:05really big change for for me personally and honestly my
- 26:08husband too, it kind of all collided at the same time.
- 26:10His passions started to shift and change a little bit and and
- 26:14mine too. And God spoke to me in a dream
- 26:17in the night, which I can share about.
- 26:19But we'd love to hear. It, it was a very, I can
- 26:23remember it like it was yesterday, but I, it was early
- 26:26in the year in January and we were living in our tiny little
- 26:31spot and I, I woke up in tears. I was, I was almost panicking
- 26:36because it felt so real. But inside of this dream that I
- 26:39was having in the night, I was seeing this war happening
- 26:42outside and it was very vivid. And I remember thinking, OK, I
- 26:46need to go get help because this is getting out of control and
- 26:50there's got to be somebody that can help bring some peace here.
- 26:53So I ran into what I thought looked like a big factory
- 26:56building. And I went down to the bottom
- 26:58floor and everybody was sitting there just drinking their their
- 27:03drinks and watching the news and laughing.
- 27:05And while this war is taking place outside.
- 27:07And I'm panicking thinking, guys, we need to snap out of
- 27:10this. We need to go figure out a plan
- 27:13so we can stop what's happening. And I remember there is this
- 27:16little boy who tugged on my dress and he couldn't talk yet,
- 27:20but he pointed to go upstairs of this factory building.
- 27:24And so I walked with him and we went upstairs.
- 27:28All the sudden everything turned into large glass windows and I
- 27:33could see in, but there was no door.
- 27:35So I couldn't get inside. But I couldn't figure out at
- 27:38first what was happening. There was, it was very sterile,
- 27:41fluorescent lights. So it was just not a welcoming
- 27:44place. And there was a bunch of people
- 27:46in white coats that I then learned were doctors and women
- 27:50just laying on the table to have procedures done.
- 27:55And again, couldn't quite figure out what was happening to then
- 27:59see lining all the ways down. And again, the room almost
- 28:03opened up for miles and it was just empty cribs.
- 28:07And I was thinking, that's odd. Like, why are all these cribs
- 28:10here but there's no babies in it?
- 28:11And then I started to realize that all of these doctors were
- 28:15performing abortions on these women and they were almost like
- 28:19robots, very robotic. There was no one was talking to
- 28:22each other, so there was no dialogue.
- 28:23They were just laying on the table doing the procedure,
- 28:26getting up and leaving. But you can see the heartbreak
- 28:30and just the the darkness that hovered over this bright room.
- 28:35And the little boy, I'll never forget.
- 28:37He looked at me and I, he didn't say it, but it was almost like
- 28:40he was saying, what are you going to do?
- 28:42Like, how you going to get in there and help these moms and
- 28:45these babies live? And I started hitting on the
- 28:48glass as hard as I could to break in and I couldn't get in.
- 28:51And that's when I woke up and I was sweating and like I said,
- 28:55crying. And I turned to my husband.
- 28:56I'm like, Michael, you've got to tell you about this dream I just
- 28:59had. The craziest part is as soon as
- 29:02I was finished explaining what had just happened in my dream,
- 29:06he opened up his phone. And you know how whatever you
- 29:09were looking at the night before, sometimes it'll just pop
- 29:12back up. He was on Facebook and this
- 29:13article came up right away on Facebook and it said urgent
- 29:18prophetic dream, save my babies or let my babies go.
- 29:23And he clicked on it and he started reading this article.
- 29:26And there was a pastor named Jeremiah Johnson back in 2016
- 29:31after Obama was elected, who had the exact, almost the exact same
- 29:35dream that I had. And it was all about God opening
- 29:39up his eyes to the reality of abortion and the fact that this
- 29:43is just on God's heart and he's turning and he's awakening his
- 29:47his people to see the fact this is the silent killer that
- 29:51there's thousands of kids every day in America.
- 29:54As you know, you, you preach it all the time that are not living
- 29:58because of this atrocity. And I thought, God, you are
- 30:03speaking to me. And it's very clear.
- 30:05I also had just gone through a season in 2018 where I was
- 30:09actually praying for God to speak to me in the night.
- 30:11If you actually read in Psalms David, there's a verse where he
- 30:15says, even when I wake God, I still want to hear from you.
- 30:19Something along those lines. And it got me thinking, OK,
- 30:22that's interesting. That means that when David is
- 30:25sleeping, he he's, he's yearning to hear from God and that and
- 30:30when he wakes, he still wants to be able to hear from God.
- 30:33So God is speaking to him in his sleep.
- 30:35And I just remember that standing out to me and I was
- 30:38like, I'm going to pray like David and just pray God will
- 30:40start speaking to me in the night, 8 hours sometimes of of
- 30:44sleep. Why not?
- 30:44Wouldn't it be great to hear from you in those those hours?
- 30:48So that was an answered prayer too, that I went through months
- 30:51and months of praying for that specifically.
- 30:53And then he gave me this dream, and I knew in that moment, Lila,
- 30:56that the rest of my life had to be doing something to fight for
- 31:02God's children. I mean, there was nothing in me.
- 31:05It's like God just lit a fire in me that could not burn out.
- 31:10And I spent an entire year in prayer.
- 31:12That's all, because I didn't know where to turn.
- 31:15I didn't know what it meant. Abortion was not on my mind.
- 31:18I didn't have the education. I didn't have the awareness.
- 31:20I had so much to learn, so much to learn about it.
- 31:24But I knew how to pray. And so I would just pray on my
- 31:27knees. Sometimes I couldn't sleep at
- 31:28night because it would just God was breaking my heart for what
- 31:32breaks his and it was very intense.
- 31:35But it was a beautiful year of me just asking God to save these
- 31:39babies I didn't even know and to help these moms and to feel
- 31:42connected to these women that I again, don't even know.
- 31:45But He was doing something and that led me into getting into
- 31:49the pro-life movement and live action.
- 31:51And your voice and your influence was so key and helping
- 31:55me understand where to get started and how to learn.
- 31:59And I'm so thankful for that year of prayer because I know
- 32:05that was pivotal for just where I am.
- 32:08Even now I look back on it often.
- 32:12It gives me chills listening to you, Sarah, and it also gives me
- 32:15so much encouragement. I was in LA in 2019.
- 32:19My husband and I were in newlyweds.
- 32:20And I think one prayer I've had, and it reminds me to pray more
- 32:24for this and we can pray for this together, is that more
- 32:27people's hearts are broken for these children that are
- 32:30voiceless and and for the mothers and the families, but
- 32:33the babies that have no voice and like God, God's gift to you
- 32:38in breaking your heart through a dream.
- 32:40And you were open to him already.
- 32:41You were saying God, whatever you want, which is so beautiful,
- 32:43a beautiful posture, but God will do the work in the probably
- 32:47movement, even when we don't know exactly how to solve this
- 32:50is huge. It's sometimes seemingly
- 32:52insurmountable crisis, right? That is abortion in this country
- 32:56and globally. And so I love it reminds me and
- 32:59I want to ask people listening to pray, pray that our hearts
- 33:02can be broken as God wants them to break so that we can get
- 33:06involved to get in the fight and also pray for other hearts and
- 33:09that God can use a dream. I mean, God can do anything.
- 33:12And how beautiful that he spoke to you this way and then that
- 33:15you responded. So I know you worked at a
- 33:17pregnancy center. And I also obviously want to get
- 33:21into the founding of public store in every life.
- 33:23So, and also thank you for, I know you said this earlier, but
- 33:26thank you for listening to the show in 2019.
- 33:29I was your, I was your first listener.
- 33:30Thank you 100%. Like you said, maybe me and your
- 33:33mom. I was so thrilled after looking
- 33:36at your website and just gaining all the knowledge that I got
- 33:40from that alone. And then when you launch your
- 33:42podcast and it's funny, I was like, I wonder if she would ever
- 33:45do that because she has so much information.
- 33:48And I would love to be able to gain more insights from your
- 33:53experience and your voice. And so I was truly your biggest
- 33:57fan in the mountains of California.
- 33:59And Aetna, I was over there walking around listening to your
- 34:03podcast on repeat, just learning and growing.
- 34:06And I'm so thankful that you said yes to that because I don't
- 34:12know what that journey was like for you.
- 34:14I'm sure that was a whole stepping out in faith and trying
- 34:17something new and came with all kinds of experiences.
- 34:20But I'm so thankful you said yes to that because I I really don't
- 34:25know where I would have gone if I didn't have the resource of
- 34:28live action in your podcast in that 2019 time.
- 34:33I mean, that gives me so much encouragement because we were
- 34:36filming, I was filming that podcast.
- 34:37It was with before video, it was just audio with this Yeti mic in
- 34:41my closet. I love it.
- 34:42And during the pandemic and it was only like 20 episodes and
- 34:45then we took a break and then we went back.
- 34:47We got back into it. Now we're doing it like the real
- 34:49show, the big show. But before it was just this, but
- 34:52it was obedience. It was, it was just this burning
- 34:54thing of like the Lord, just like give it a give it a shot.
- 34:57I know you have all these things about fears, concerns,
- 35:00questions. Just get out there and do it.
- 35:03Get out there and try and God just does.
- 35:06God can do so much with our willingness to just try, even
- 35:09though we are so limited and imperfect and finite.
- 35:12God can do anything with that. Yes.
- 35:14So, so then what? What was it like to get into
- 35:19pro-life work? And then how did that lead to
- 35:21public square every life and everything you're doing today?
- 35:24So like I mentioned, I went through that time of very
- 35:26intimate prayer and I knew that was my first step.
- 35:28And I actually had a lot of peace just learning right and
- 35:32understanding the issue of abortion and trying to become
- 35:36almost an expert on the topic as as much as I could.
- 35:38I knew that's where I needed to start.
- 35:41And then I moved into activation because normally when God
- 35:45reveals something this way, I would say this to anybody.
- 35:49There's a reason he's pointing something out, whether it be a
- 35:52frustration or something as vivid as my dream.
- 35:57There's a reason he's highlighting it to you and, and
- 36:00sometimes it means starting with prayer, but it normally results
- 36:04in activation and being a part of the solution.
- 36:09There was a reason God was showing this to me because it
- 36:12wasn't just meant for me to keep in my little heart and bubble
- 36:16And trust me, I, I kind of wanted to stay in it because it
- 36:19was a beautiful place that I was in of just praying for these
- 36:22moms and these babies. But I knew God said there's
- 36:26more. And I hit this moment at the end
- 36:28of 2019 where I said, I, I have to be a part, I need to get
- 36:31involved in the pro-life movement in some form or
- 36:34fashion. So that's what led me into
- 36:37discovering what a pregnancy Resource Center was.
- 36:39I didn't even know what a pregnancy Resource Center was.
- 36:41And again, I'm from the South. I'm was raised in a Christian
- 36:46raising a Christian home, but I was not exposed to the pro-life
- 36:49movement. I didn't even know what that
- 36:51language, that language didn't even resonate to me at the time.
- 36:54And so I had a lot to learn about what a pregnancy resource
- 36:57centers do. And as I dove into what they
- 37:01provide to women and how they're on the front lines, literally
- 37:05talking to these abortion vulnerable minded women, I got
- 37:09so fired up and excited. So I actually, there was a job
- 37:12opening at a pregnancy Resource Center in San Clemente.
- 37:15I applied out of faith and I got the job and I jumped right in.
- 37:20And that was in 2020. So it was an interesting year to
- 37:24get started because we hit COVID pretty quickly after I just
- 37:27started and the executive director at the time had a lot
- 37:31of health issues and she really wasn't able to come into the
- 37:34center. So I ended up really having
- 37:37almost like baptism by fire sort of experience where I had only
- 37:42been working and in training for a little bit.
- 37:43And then there I was in a room with an abortion minded woman
- 37:47and counseling her through her decision making way sooner than
- 37:53I would have ever imagined. But I'm so thankful that God
- 37:57just threw me in the room and I got to learn about what these
- 38:01women are going through first hand.
- 38:02I'd read about it for a year, for a year.
- 38:05And then to see it in real life, it was amazing to see God move
- 38:10in that little counseling room and in the ultrasound room.
- 38:13And I learned that asking really good questions honestly, how
- 38:17Jesus did with his disciples. He actually told Peter, who do
- 38:20you say that I am? And he did that on purpose
- 38:22because he wanted Peter to have that revelation and his own
- 38:27moment, light bulb moment of understanding who Jesus is to
- 38:30him. And I, I took that practice of,
- 38:34of good question asking and brought it into the counseling
- 38:37room. And I just watched these girls
- 38:38open up and start talking about their dreams and their desires.
- 38:42And, you know, what do you want to do in a year from now, five
- 38:46years from now, 10 years from now?
- 38:47And it was amazing the information they would share
- 38:49with you. If you just listen and love and
- 38:52are there to to come alongside them.
- 38:55It's amazing what can come out of those conversations.
- 38:58And Planned Parenthood, I can promise you, as you know, are
- 39:01not taking an interest in their life beyond that, that that
- 39:05moment of a life or death decision.
- 39:08But that was what we were trying to do in those rooms.
- 39:10And I saw miracle after miracle after miracle, baby saved after
- 39:15baby saved after baby saved. I mean, the first time I ever
- 39:19got to hold the baby that I got to walk with a woman to
- 39:24literally at the point where she said I'm 100% getting an
- 39:27abortion to then nine months later holding that child.
- 39:31I'll just never forget those times that I had.
- 39:34And I'm so thankful for them because it's really what got me
- 39:39into even where I am now and a heart for what they're walking
- 39:44through, which I think is so important.
- 39:45It's so important to understand that these women, they need
- 39:49Jesus, they need love, they need care.
- 39:52And God softened my heart that year that I got to minister to
- 39:57those women and hear their stories.
- 39:59And it built my heart for the for the pro-life movement even
- 40:03more. I I get teary eyed hearing from
- 40:07you. Share that and imagine that baby
- 40:09that you held. Yeah.
- 40:12It was amazing. It's just amazing and not that
- 40:15your ability to show up for that woman and help her choose life
- 40:19and be there for her and her now newborn baby was because of a
- 40:22dream that God gave you in the night.
- 40:24Yeah, it's wild. It's awesome.
- 40:27It's amazing. So thankful.
- 40:29And I just remember sitting there thinking, God, this is
- 40:31what you created me for. And I would have never known
- 40:35that even a year before, I was sitting in that counseling room
- 40:38starting to talk to these women considering abortion or life.
- 40:42And it's like I was made for that moment.
- 40:46And that's how amazing God is and how He works.
- 40:49Like when we say yes to him and we're obedient to Him, He's
- 40:52going to show you so much about Him and his nature, but then
- 40:55you're going to get to learn so much about how He created you as
- 40:58an individual. And I remember saying things and
- 41:01getting into conversations. I mean, I met with witches.
- 41:03I met with all kinds of people with backgrounds, I mean, drug
- 41:07addictions, depression, some really heavy situations.
- 41:11And coming through the pregnancy center to the pregnancy center,
- 41:14Yeah. Right here in Orange County,
- 41:17you'd be shocked. And I just remember sitting
- 41:21there thinking, I didn't even know God that you could come in
- 41:25and use me out of all the people in the world.
- 41:28Like you don't have to do that. But that's what's so beautiful
- 41:31about relationship with him is that he wants to like he wants
- 41:34that companionship. He wants that relationship with
- 41:37each of us. We just have to be willing to do
- 41:40it. And I was just a willing vessel.
- 41:43And I couldn't even believe seeing witches coming to know
- 41:46Christ in one session. I mean, the those were kind of
- 41:50the the conversations and and experiences I was having in 2020
- 41:55that I again, could have never ever imagined I'd be sitting in.
- 41:59So thankful. It's incredible and it starts
- 42:03like you said, it's I, I love that word to use that prayer of
- 42:06God using you ask God, ask God to use us, give him permission
- 42:11to do whatever he wants with their life.
- 42:13Then the adventure truly begins and it's just I, I resonate so
- 42:17much with what you're sharing because there's so much in my
- 42:19life that I would have never imagined if I had not said yes
- 42:24to God and let God take the wheel, you know, and, and be the
- 42:27lead of the, of the, and that's not to say I don't make
- 42:29mistakes. I haven't gone the wrong
- 42:30direction. I haven't misheard.
- 42:32I mean, there's all of that, right?
- 42:33The messy day-to-day of the Christian life, but it's always
- 42:36oriented towards Jesus Christ and trying to hear and, and
- 42:39respond to God and letting him lead us.
- 42:41And it's just the most incredible adventure to be on
- 42:44that on that path. Every Life Diaper is the fastest
- 42:48growing diaper company in America in the world.
- 42:51I know the folks listening know about Every life because we talk
- 42:53about them often on the show. I use the product Public Square.
- 42:58I want to hear about public Square.
- 42:59And it's starting, it's being started.
- 43:00But I just think this what what just gets me so excited is
- 43:04you're talking about pregnancy center, you're talking about
- 43:06Sarah, you know, the early years of your marriage.
- 43:08Did you have any idea that you would be an entrepreneur that
- 43:12you would start a multi? I mean, you guys raised you guys
- 43:16have raised 10s of millions of dollars.
- 43:18You're making, you know, the revenue is I know going up.
- 43:21Every life is crushing it. It's the fastest growing
- 43:23company, a diaper company and baby products company.
- 43:26Was that did you ever have any inkling of that before you
- 43:30started every life for public Square?
- 43:32Like a little premonition from God that I would be a
- 43:34businesswoman and my husband and I would be entrepreneurs.
- 43:38Was that part of the? It's, it's a great question.
- 43:41I mean, I studied business in school, I studied economics.
- 43:43And so I, I did have a passion for entrepreneurship and
- 43:48innovation. Really my whole life, I've
- 43:50always been kind of a dreamer. I've always kind of thought big
- 43:53and outside of the box. And actually being from the
- 43:56South, it's very opposite culturally.
- 44:00It's very much stay in tradition and in your lane.
- 44:05I was kind of the black sheep that left.
- 44:07I think I'm actually really one of the only out of my friend
- 44:10group in high school that actually moved to California and
- 44:14built this different life, right?
- 44:16And so I've always had that in me.
- 44:18And my husband is exactly the same way.
- 44:20I mean, he's always been a dreamer.
- 44:22He is has a huge passion just for life and thinking outside
- 44:26the box. And I think moving to California
- 44:29and being around a culture that does think a little bit bigger,
- 44:33it was really good for us to be around that.
- 44:35And so looking back, I can see how he was preparing us for this
- 44:40moment, but it still looks very different than what I would have
- 44:44ever planned for. And I've said that a few times
- 44:46on this show, and I'm sure many people have that story too,
- 44:48listening that it's just when you follow God, you can try to
- 44:51make all these plans for yourself.
- 44:54And then he comes in and he blows it out of the park, which
- 44:57is the best part about going on this adventure with him, right?
- 45:00I just have to interject or they're about to have that
- 45:02experience. Or they're about to.
- 45:03If you're listening right now and you're like.
- 45:05That was your moment. Say yes to God, just say
- 45:07whatever you want. God, we have to radical
- 45:09submission to God and let him, let him change your life.
- 45:12Yeah. You're you're in the middle of a
- 45:14beautiful thought, so go back to your thought, but.
- 45:16Yeah. And and I would say it was
- 45:19during the 2019-2020 season that we were starting to see our
- 45:25hearts just shift and, and we were really thinking ministry
- 45:29full time was going to be kind of the career move for us.
- 45:33But as we started to focus more on politics and culture and the
- 45:37pro-life movement, Michael started working, working for a a
- 45:41marketing agency. So he's, he's kind of getting
- 45:44some exposure in different sectors.
- 45:46And we also started praying specifically, I remember God.
- 45:50Would you sharpen the kind of the tools in our tool belt that
- 45:54you want us to use? Because there's a lot of
- 45:55different places we could have gone or different careers we
- 45:59could have pursued. And we actually found ourselves
- 46:02kind of saying what's next for us.
- 46:04And again, there's a lot of different options, but we want
- 46:07to do the God thing. We don't want to just do the
- 46:08good thing. And it was then that we
- 46:12discovered that every pretty much major corporation,
- 46:18corporate America was not standing for pro-life, pro
- 46:21family, godly principles and values.
- 46:25And COVID I think really highlighted that for us because
- 46:28many businesses were shutting down.
- 46:30You're seeing small businesses hurting, and then you're seeing
- 46:33the Amazons and the targets of the world just, you know,
- 46:36growing and growing and growing to degrees.
- 46:39That is really saddening because from our perspective, we think
- 46:44small businesses are the backbone of society.
- 46:46They're really what make our country so special.
- 46:49And we started to kind of ache for these small businesses just
- 46:53right here in San Diego. And we also wanted to support
- 46:56those that were standing for our core convictions because we
- 46:59started to discover so many that weren't.
- 47:02And we created our own list in 2020 of all the places that we
- 47:05felt comfortable putting our dollars towards because we
- 47:08started to see that our purchasing powers really do make
- 47:12a difference. That money talks.
- 47:14We many people have heard that before, but I don't think that
- 47:17many stop and really assess what that means.
- 47:20And our purchasing decisions do have weight.
- 47:22They do have power. And actually, God really calls
- 47:25us to be good stewards of our wealth.
- 47:27He'll trust you with the little and then he'll trust you with
- 47:29the more. And, and you see scripture about
- 47:32wealth actually multiple times in the Bible.
- 47:35And I think a lot of times it can just be an, a very mindless
- 47:40transaction. And I started to see in 2020,
- 47:43people started to actually realize that it matters where
- 47:46your money is going and that you could actually be endorsing the
- 47:49very thing that you stand against or stand for.
- 47:53And that list that we compiled in our own little home turned
- 47:58into something that we said, man, this actually would be
- 48:00really helpful for other people in San Diego who do care about
- 48:04shopping their values and making sure that their dollars are
- 48:06going to support these companies.
- 48:08And that's actually what birthed the idea of Public Square, which
- 48:11is every life's parent company. And we launched it about four
- 48:15years ago. It's a marketplace where you can
- 48:17find businesses 80,000 plus that all stand for life, that stand
- 48:23for the family unit, that love liberty, that love the
- 48:27principles of of godliness. And that way when you go to this
- 48:32platform, you can know with a blessed assurance that every
- 48:35business on there, you don't have to wonder where your hard
- 48:38earned money is going. It's going to align with the
- 48:40things that are actually making our country better and stronger.
- 48:43And so that really was the launching pad into the
- 48:47innovation, into the startup phase.
- 48:49And that's when I knew God was also causing me to pause to say,
- 48:54do I continue pursuing the pregnancy Resource Center path?
- 48:57Because I was so passionate about the pregnancy Resource
- 49:00Center ministry and the women I was meeting with.
- 49:03But I was also so passionate about what was happening in our
- 49:07little living room that Michael and I were kind of building on
- 49:09the side. And I had to make a decision.
- 49:13It was a crossroads. And I ended up jumping all in
- 49:16with Michael and starting to build Public Square.
- 49:19All right, I have to ask. And this is what everybody asks
- 49:22about any kind of entrepreneurship.
- 49:23How? Because you're like creating,
- 49:27you know, 80,000 this app that has a marketplace that has
- 49:3180,000 like minded businesses. And then every life is creating
- 49:34a product company with all of the challenges of a product
- 49:37company that's now a global product company.
- 49:39And this is only four years old or five.
- 49:41Is it 5 now? It's four years old. close.
- 49:43Yeah, 4 1/2 years old and every life is just celebrated our two
- 49:47year anniversary in July. I like to hear about the
- 49:51whatever how you can share because I think people, a lot of
- 49:55people look at entrepreneurs and think I just, that's not me.
- 49:58I just can't do it because I don't come from independent
- 50:01wealth. My, my parents can't pay my
- 50:03bills and therefore it's impossible for me to start a
- 50:05side hustle that can grow. I just can't do it or
- 50:08everybody's going to come into it with or just I don't have
- 50:10what it takes or I don't know how or whatever it is, right.
- 50:13And so, you know, when you guys were first starting out, is this
- 50:16something where you had like unlimited resources, the trust
- 50:19fund and you're just like, we're going to figure it out And
- 50:21we've, everything's going to be we're, we're, we're, we're,
- 50:24we're comfortable. It's just we're going to figure
- 50:25it out as we go. No, we were living off of very
- 50:28small salaries and then a very expensive, expensive environment
- 50:32in California. You know, we came from the
- 50:35church sector, the nonprofit sector.
- 50:38And so no, we were not in a place where financially it was
- 50:42an easy thing for us to jump into.
- 50:43Actually, that was the biggest hurdle is how we have this grand
- 50:46idea. But one, are people going to
- 50:49like it? And two, we have to have the
- 50:51funding to be able to support building a technology company.
- 50:56That's essentially what we were doing.
- 50:57And Michael and I, you know, we, we got the, the, the politics
- 51:01and he, he especially had the marketing gifting for sure.
- 51:05And so we had different areas of strengths, but building a
- 51:10application is not something that we've ever done before.
- 51:13So I will say it's important that people know that.
- 51:17Let's say you have this grand idea that feels like, OK, no one
- 51:21else is doing it. There's a hole in the market.
- 51:23This could be amazing. We had incredible mentors in our
- 51:26life that we ran this idea by. So we built a little pitch deck
- 51:31and you know, we had this vision of what we thought it was going
- 51:34to be. And we just started to have
- 51:36conversations with people that we trust and love that are years
- 51:39ahead of us maybe in in the marketing sector, the business
- 51:42sector or the investment world or all, all kinds of we, we were
- 51:46very blessed with a lot of relationships that we could go
- 51:49to for support. And we had these conversations,
- 51:51the hard ones, the good ones and everything in between because we
- 51:55needed that feedback. We needed real time.
- 51:57Hey, is this, is this a good idea?
- 51:59Would you do this? Would you invest in this?
- 52:01And over and over again, we've just got yeses.
- 52:03We got yes after yes, after, after yes.
- 52:06And we felt, you know, again, we, we really couldn't say no
- 52:10because one, we felt God was giving this idea to us that it
- 52:14was a, it was an idea from him. And then our community around us
- 52:18was very supportive. Then it turned into really
- 52:22seeking out seed round of funding, right?
- 52:25So we had to be able to fund this idea and Michael would do a
- 52:29much better job talking about the season because he
- 52:32spearheaded this. But I can tell you a story that
- 52:35I think is really significant that I think got us to just
- 52:39where we are now. First, our very first hire, once
- 52:44we had our first round of of funding complete, was a prayer
- 52:48coordinator. That was our very first role at
- 52:51Public Square. And I'm so thankful that we and
- 52:54they're still with us today. She's still on our team, her.
- 52:56Role Officially, she's a prayer. That's all she does is just.
- 52:59Pray for the company, Sarah, that's so cool.
- 53:03And so that was our first hire. GGB we have our weekly prayer
- 53:06which I missed today, but thank you Keely.
- 53:08Yes, it's so important. That's so awesome, the power of
- 53:10prayer, and we just said we got to start there.
- 53:13This isn't going to happen unless we have prayer.
- 53:15It's going to be impossible. This is an impossible dream.
- 53:18And usually too, when you are saying it feels impossible is
- 53:22usually when it's a God idea too, when it's just so scary and
- 53:26feels so uncomfortable. That's usually the moment you
- 53:31should just be on the edge of your seat watching what God's
- 53:33going to do. And we felt that.
- 53:35We felt that anticipation. It was actually really exciting.
- 53:37Scary but exciting and. Scary, exciting and
- 53:42uncomfortable. All of it.
- 53:44Yes, all of it. So he met with this investor
- 53:48who's actually a very dear friend of ours, basically
- 53:51family. And it was funny.
- 53:53Michael came in the room, he had his pitch deck all ready to go,
- 53:56and he told him to put the computer away.
- 54:00And Michael's thinking, Oh my gosh, I haven't even shared yet.
- 54:02And he's already saying no, like, what have I done wrong?
- 54:05And he said to Michael, this strategy that you have played
- 54:10out here on this presentation, it's going to change 1000 times.
- 54:14It's going to mold and shift. And what I want to know is
- 54:18what's your vision and what's your mission?
- 54:21Because if you can hold fast to what you want to see happen,
- 54:25then I will support this effort because you're, again, your
- 54:29strategy is going to change 1000 times.
- 54:31And I think that was one of the best pieces of advice that
- 54:34Michael got. And I remember him telling me
- 54:36the story and I hang on to it every day that we have to hold
- 54:39so fast to the mission and the vision.
- 54:42And I know you are holding fast to the mission and the vision of
- 54:45live action and all that you're doing, but you want to hold
- 54:48loosely how you get there. Because if we get so caught in
- 54:51to our own ideas of what strategy looks like and how we
- 54:56implement certain pieces of our business and the formation of
- 55:00how it's all going to turn out, then we may miss an open door or
- 55:04a closed door because we're so stuck to what we think is the
- 55:07right way. But we're going to learn so many
- 55:09things that are going to change all of those things.
- 55:12But if you don't lose your mission and you don't lose the
- 55:15vision of what you want to see happen, that puts you in a
- 55:17really good place to succeed. And we've lived by that over and
- 55:23over and over again. Our if you pull up that pitch
- 55:26deck that we had four years ago and you look at who we are
- 55:30today, it's, I mean, it's hard to even pull pieces that are the
- 55:35same. But the mission and the vision
- 55:38never changed. And so I'm really thankful for
- 55:41that advice that we got at the very beginning because we made
- 55:46that be the main thing. And I think, you know, you look
- 55:48at Scripture too, right? Seek first his Kingdom and
- 55:51everything else will be added to you.
- 55:52That's in Matthew and it's kind of the same principle, like seek
- 55:56first God, seek first him and keep that the main thing and
- 56:00then everything else will be added.
- 56:03And it gave us so much peace as we went along this journey and
- 56:06we kept just one step at a time, one day at a time, and just
- 56:10trusting that if we seek first Him and we keep the mission, we
- 56:14keep the vision and lock step with him, everything else will
- 56:17come. But it took a lot of faith and
- 56:20it sounds glamorous and wonderful and at times it was,
- 56:24but and it is, we're still in it.
- 56:26We're still only four years old. We're not even close.
- 56:29We've barely even scratched the surface.
- 56:31We say all the time we're just getting started, but I just
- 56:34think it's really important to remember that it took a lot of
- 56:37sacrifice. It took a lot of saying no to
- 56:39say yes to this business that we've built.
- 56:42And I wouldn't change it for anything.
- 56:45But it hasn't been easy. It's come with losing
- 56:49friendships and, you know, all kinds of letting go of the
- 56:54comfortabilities of life, the comforts, you know, we don't, we
- 56:58don't live like a lot of people do.
- 57:00And that's OK. We're not better than anybody
- 57:02else. We're just saying yes to what
- 57:04God has for us. And it just looks a little bit
- 57:05different. And I think we all have to be
- 57:07willing to accept that, no matter what path God takes us
- 57:11on. Yeah, I think the level of risk
- 57:13that you guys have taken on as a family, a young family, the
- 57:16level of public exposure, like you're now a publicly traded
- 57:20company. I mean, you have there's, you
- 57:23know, I don't know if millions of shareholders, but they're
- 57:25shareholders you're responsible to.
- 57:26And then there's this public, I mean, it's public square, right?
- 57:29But it's people's judgement anytime you put anything out
- 57:32into the world. I know this with the podcast,
- 57:34and this podcast is not perfect and live action.
- 57:37We try very hard to be effective in reaching people, but we're
- 57:40going to, you know, as we go, we're going to make mistakes or
- 57:45try to take advantage of opportunities and not do it to
- 57:48the do it the best way we could have.
- 57:49But then we learn the next time. The whole path is full of pivots
- 57:53and full of striving and learning, following up, getting
- 57:57up again. I also love what you're talking
- 57:59about. What you started with is not
- 58:00where you are today and where you're going is not going to be
- 58:03where you are today. Amazon started as a bookstore,
- 58:06which is so crazy. And I, I was just one of my
- 58:08friends. He's, he's an advisor for some
- 58:10of the work on the GTB side. So if there's live action on the
- 58:13nonprofit and it's GTB, which produces the podcast, but he's
- 58:16talking about his company, which also kind of an app tech
- 58:19company. What they started with is very
- 58:21different than what they're doing just two years later.
- 58:23Same mission, but very different product or, or offering and
- 58:27program. So I think that there's so much
- 58:30wisdom there to just, I think not be afraid is really the
- 58:34foundational principle and to be open.
- 58:37And trusting. Yeah, one of my favorite.
- 58:39This is another Socrates quote. But you only live life once.
- 58:44But if you live it right, it's enough.
- 58:46So simple, but it's something to live by because we only have one
- 58:50shot at this life. That's it.
- 58:53And one of the thing that things that almost plagues me and my
- 58:57husband everyday is like, did we do enough today?
- 59:01And are we setting ourselves up to really leave a legacy behind
- 59:05us? And that's what drives us.
- 59:09I mean, Lily Gable, my daughter, that's what.
- 59:11And Michael would say the same. She is what drives us.
- 59:14This new little girl on the way. The family that we're building,
- 59:18we're doing all of this because we want to live a life where we
- 59:22don't look back and say, man, I could have done this.
- 59:26Or if I just would have let go of that, that fear and that
- 59:29anxiety, I would have actually jumped into the boat and really
- 59:34gone places that, you know, I wanted to go.
- 59:37I just didn't. And I think Michael and I, when
- 59:40we got married, we kind of put a line in the sand and just said,
- 59:44we're just going to go all in. And if it means epically
- 59:47failing, which we failed over and over again and we've fallen
- 59:51on our faces, but we're just going to get right back up and
- 59:54we're going to try again. And it caught it.
- 59:58It's caused me to gain a lot of grit and a lot of drive that I
- 1:00:01had not I've, I've always been a determined person, but I'm in a
- 1:00:05different boat now than I ever have been because of the things
- 1:00:08that we've gone through. But I'm so thankful for it
- 1:00:11because I just know I'm going to look back and say thank you,
- 1:00:16God, for letting us live this wild, crazy life.
- 1:00:20And. I'm going to be able to say, I
- 1:00:23think we all want to be able to say that we, we did it right.
- 1:00:26We had one life and we gave it all that we had.
- 1:00:29And I hope that encourages somebody who's maybe feels like
- 1:00:32they're sitting on the sidelines a little bit.
- 1:00:33Like I'm watching all these other people take off and I'm
- 1:00:37just timid to, to jump into the boat and to go all in.
- 1:00:41It's like, do it, just do it because what do we have to lose?
- 1:00:44We lose. We have one life.
- 1:00:46This is it. Let's leave the legacy that we
- 1:00:48want to leave behind us that outlasts our time here on earth.
- 1:00:52And that's what you're building. That's what we're trying to
- 1:00:54build. And the more believers that can
- 1:00:57do that. Can you imagine what our society
- 1:01:00could look like if we just had more believers that were
- 1:01:03dreaming big and and going after the things that God was putting
- 1:01:07on their heart? I can't imagine.
- 1:01:09We're just one example. I mean, there's, there's, so
- 1:01:12there's, there's so many Christians out there that I'm,
- 1:01:15I'm just encouraged to see what God is doing.
- 1:01:18And I think there's more that are, are going to come into the
- 1:01:21horizon here soon with new ideas, new strategies, because
- 1:01:25we need it. We're, we're entering into very
- 1:01:27interesting times here. And we need all the believers
- 1:01:31all in running after God with all their heart, mind and soul.
- 1:01:35I think what you guys have spearheaded is a renaissance of
- 1:01:39people who are building these new institutions.
- 1:01:43Really that's what it is in the business world especially who
- 1:01:46are proud of their identity as people of faith, people who are
- 1:01:51pro-life, people who are pro marriage and that ten years ago
- 1:01:55would not have really been seen as a thing.
- 1:01:57It would have been weird. Like what does it mean?
- 1:01:59But I think Michael, pioneering and quite frankly, raising a lot
- 1:02:02of money behind this vision that then is now paying creators,
- 1:02:06paying, helping support other businesses, helping build new
- 1:02:09businesses, like every life, all of this, it's helping build that
- 1:02:12very ecosystem that you envisioned.
- 1:02:13And again, the path is going to look different than the original
- 1:02:16path that was imagined. But that's part of the journey.
- 1:02:18And I see it happening right now in our culture.
- 1:02:21This is an exciting moment where people are now more proud than
- 1:02:24ever of faith, of family, of fighting for life.
- 1:02:28And we're still not there yet. The culture is very much
- 1:02:31struggling. We have, you know, horrific, the
- 1:02:35evil of abortion, the the, the sexual revolution, all of the
- 1:02:39pornography and breakdown of the family.
- 1:02:40So there's, you know, gender identity confusion.
- 1:02:43So there's tremendous things to fight and to build in the midst
- 1:02:47of. But I think the willingness to
- 1:02:50dream big and build big, even with all of its challenges, is,
- 1:02:55is the opportunity. I mean, if we have that
- 1:02:57willingness, we get to seize that opportunity.
- 1:02:59OK, two questions for you. What has been the biggest
- 1:03:03failure that you can share? Especially curious with every
- 1:03:06life because that's our brand we love here and and our challenge
- 1:03:10that you had to overcome. And then what's been the biggest
- 1:03:11breakthrough? So with every life, you know, I,
- 1:03:16I do think it's worth sharing that the reason every life is
- 1:03:19here today is because of our parent company, Public Square,
- 1:03:22and us discovering that our customers were literally
- 1:03:25searching for diaper companies. And we did not have one
- 1:03:28representative on our platform that stood for life, that stood
- 1:03:32for families and stood for freedom.
- 1:03:35And at the same time, it became personal because Michael and I
- 1:03:38got pregnant with our first. And so we just started to look
- 1:03:41into the baby industry and was shocked, absolutely shocked.
- 1:03:45I didn't even think I'd need to look into diaper companies to
- 1:03:48see where they stood and where our money was going.
- 1:03:52And every single major diaper company was supporting abortion
- 1:03:55vocally or financially. So even at the public Square
- 1:03:57ecosystem that we were building, we couldn't help our consumers
- 1:04:00find a diaper brand. It's, it's so insane, Sarah.
- 1:04:04So it it, it really broke my heart and I actually hope more
- 1:04:09people let that break their heart.
- 1:04:11We said this earlier in the episode.
- 1:04:12We need, I think passive stances can be so harmful to society.
- 1:04:18I think we really need to feel the weight of some of these
- 1:04:22issues at hand. And the fact that these diaper
- 1:04:25brands that are literally making products for children do not
- 1:04:29believe in their life is so wrong.
- 1:04:32It's a horrible business model model firstly, but it's morally
- 1:04:36wrong. It's it, it doesn't, it doesn't
- 1:04:39add up. And so when we were discovering
- 1:04:41this again, we had that moment of we can't sit on the sidelines
- 1:04:45and just be OK with this. We want a brand even for our own
- 1:04:48child that we're excited to go support.
- 1:04:51And that's really what caused every life to exist and and come
- 1:04:57into play. And I'm so thankful for another
- 1:04:59one of those light bulb moments, a hole in the market to be able
- 1:05:03to serve families that are so passionate about shopping their
- 1:05:05values and getting quality and the performance that they need
- 1:05:09for their families with these products.
- 1:05:12This journey has been an incredible 1.
- 1:05:16And you know, I, I honestly look back Lila, over the last two
- 1:05:20years and I have more kind of triumph stories with every life.
- 1:05:25It has been a lot of triumph. I mean, like, what's been the
- 1:05:27biggest failure? Like, thanks be to God, it's
- 1:05:29crushing it, you know? Well, their struggles, their
- 1:05:32struggles, absolutely just like, but they're more personal,
- 1:05:35right? It's more, it's more the moments
- 1:05:39where I feel like I'm failing at being the the best leader of the
- 1:05:43company while also trying to still be the best mom and wife.
- 1:05:47You know, it's those moments, those tension points where
- 1:05:51you're just wrestling with how do you navigate that?
- 1:05:54Yeah, it's, it's not. It's, and it's interesting you
- 1:05:56say that because I, I relate to that a lot as a mom
- 1:05:58entrepreneur. It's it people say, what's your
- 1:06:00biggest challenges? It's making sure that I
- 1:06:02prioritize properly and making sure that work doesn't eat into
- 1:06:05my my my children. Exactly because they're first.
- 1:06:09That's right. How do you do that?
- 1:06:12Yeah, I'd actually love to hear your answer, too.
- 1:06:16But I would say, you know, one of the things that's been really
- 1:06:19effective is I try to bring my daughter, Lily Gable, into as
- 1:06:23much as I can. And I think a lot of times we
- 1:06:26can kind of segment our life, right?
- 1:06:28It's like over here is business, over here is family, over here
- 1:06:32is church. But really, like, God should be
- 1:06:34a part of every bucket of our life.
- 1:06:37And I think we've decided, my husband and I, that because
- 1:06:40we're kind of a family on mission, we're, we're building
- 1:06:43this ecosystem together that we don't want to have Lily Gable
- 1:06:48kind of just be on the sidelines over here.
- 1:06:51We just want to bring her in with us every chance we can.
- 1:06:54And she's been on 90 plus flights with me.
- 1:06:57She's traveled the world. I try to get her in the meetings
- 1:07:01with my team and just have her present as much as I can.
- 1:07:04So it feels like again, she's a part of this because she is my
- 1:07:08why she is why I do what I do. And she's not a set back.
- 1:07:12She's actually my, my greatest strength is her because she
- 1:07:16motivates me and she makes me better and stronger and she
- 1:07:19gives me more ideas. I mean, really this idea of, of
- 1:07:22every life came from really us getting pregnant with her.
- 1:07:25I mean, I think a lot of times culture likes to say, right,
- 1:07:30that kids are just going to set you back and they're going to
- 1:07:33steal your dreams and your goals and your desires.
- 1:07:35My story is the complete opposite.
- 1:07:37My child literally made me dream so big so I could create
- 1:07:42something for her. That one was good for her body
- 1:07:45that celebrated her. It was a great product.
- 1:07:47But it's more than that, right? We're not just a diaper company.
- 1:07:50We're really working hard to shift culture to one that
- 1:07:53celebrates every miraculous life.
- 1:07:55And so to going back to your question, I would say the way
- 1:08:00that I've tried to go about that challenge is just bringing her
- 1:08:03in when I can and just having a lot of grace and, and patience.
- 1:08:07I've, I've been tested in the patients department of just
- 1:08:11being, you know, OK with there's, this is challenging
- 1:08:15right now and I need to just take a second and realize that
- 1:08:18I'm, I'm a little overwhelmed And I need to accept that
- 1:08:21feeling. And then let me figure out what
- 1:08:24I need to do to either move forward with focusing on this
- 1:08:29maybe problem that I have in the business, or I'm just going to
- 1:08:32put it to bed for a second, put it on the shelf And I have to
- 1:08:35prioritize my child right now. And it's a, it's a moment of
- 1:08:40contact switching very often. But I think when God gives you
- 1:08:45the grace to do something, he's going to help you right through
- 1:08:49those moments of discernment. And I've really leaned on being
- 1:08:53dependent on him in those moments where I I feel the
- 1:08:56tension. That's so good.
- 1:08:58And, and to know that God's not going to call us to something
- 1:09:00that we can't do with his grace. I mean, if it's meant to be, it
- 1:09:04will be with his grace. And he's not going to make a
- 1:09:06sacrifice, something that we're never to sacrifice, like our own
- 1:09:09marriage, our children, our faith or morals, whatever it is
- 1:09:11in any kind of path. But it requires really leaning
- 1:09:15and listening and those acts of surrender that we were talking
- 1:09:18about earlier. OK, Biggest breakthrough with
- 1:09:21every life. Did you think you get this big
- 1:09:24this fast? I.
- 1:09:25Didn't, but I think one of our biggest breakthrough moments was
- 1:09:29when we did our our big Make More Babies campaign pretty
- 1:09:33shortly after we launched. God was really highlighting the
- 1:09:37birth rate issue, which I know you talk about often.
- 1:09:40And we're really passionate as a team at every life.
- 1:09:42The fact that we're seeing, you know, 1.6 babies per woman is
- 1:09:47really concerning. We should be paying attention to
- 1:09:49it. We need that replacement rate to
- 1:09:51be at 2.1 babies per woman. And it was becoming really clear
- 1:09:55right after we launched that we have an opportunity to share
- 1:10:00about this issue, this overpopulation control ideology
- 1:10:03that's plaguing so many young people today.
- 1:10:06I mean, the fact that 23% of people in their childbearing
- 1:10:09years are saying that they are considering not having children
- 1:10:13because of their concerns of how a child would bring too many
- 1:10:16carbon emissions into the world is a threat to our society and
- 1:10:20that we're overpopulated. We have too many people.
- 1:10:22I mean, almost 50%, according to a UNUN study, would say that
- 1:10:27they think that we have too many people here on this earth.
- 1:10:30And that's just not true. I mean, we have more people that
- 1:10:33are aging out than coming into the world.
- 1:10:36And so we started to see, man, there's an opportunity to to
- 1:10:40talk about this in a different angle and highlight that their
- 1:10:46children are not a burden, they're a blessing.
- 1:10:49And we need more of them, not less.
- 1:10:50We don't need less people in this world.
- 1:10:53And when we did this campaign in Times Square, we put up just a
- 1:10:56simple message, make more babies because that's what we believe
- 1:10:59in every life. We think, you know, find, find
- 1:11:01God, get married and make babies like that is that is so clear in
- 1:11:05scripture. He calls us to be fruitful and
- 1:11:08to multiply the earth. And we put that simple quote up
- 1:11:12there. And, and, and also Elon Musk
- 1:11:14himself has actually been a big proponent of, you know,
- 1:11:17repopulation and he said having children, saving the world.
- 1:11:20And I have a lot of, you know, disagreements with Elon Musk.
- 1:11:23But I agree with that statement, having children.
- 1:11:25Elon find God, get married and then have the baby.
- 1:11:29There's an order. Trust me, Elon, it's going to be
- 1:11:31best for you and for everybody else, including those precious
- 1:11:34babies. I know.
- 1:11:35But every one of his babies and every baby, no matter how
- 1:11:38they're brought into the world, whether it's, you know,
- 1:11:41premarital sex, whether it's IVF, no matter how a child is
- 1:11:43brought into the world is a gift from God.
- 1:11:45It's a divine gift and is willed and loved by God himself.
- 1:11:49So we can celebrate every baby, no matter the circumstances of
- 1:11:52how they were brought into the world.
- 1:11:53Absolutely. We can still say encourage
- 1:11:55people like God's plan is the best plan here for your sake and
- 1:11:58the child's sake. But let's celebrate every life.
- 1:12:00That's right. And so we put his tweet up on a
- 1:12:03billboard and I went viral. I mean, Elon Musk himself
- 1:12:06retweeted it. I mean, he is one of the most
- 1:12:08influential men in the world. And so him backing this pro-life
- 1:12:12diaper company, I mean, I couldn't believe it truly.
- 1:12:15And I think that really got us on the map to be able again, to
- 1:12:18show that we're sure providing these incredible products for
- 1:12:21parents that people are raving about.
- 1:12:23I mean, it's healing diaper rash and it's causing people to sleep
- 1:12:26better at night because the 12 hour leak protection actually
- 1:12:29works. Like it's an incredible product.
- 1:12:31I mean, I, I even said to Michael, I'm like, we're not
- 1:12:33going to create a product that we would not be proud to put on
- 1:12:35our own baby. So we spent a lot of time
- 1:12:37thinking through the ingredients in the crafting of the of the
- 1:12:40diaper itself and all the products that we have now.
- 1:12:42But more than that, we're standing for parenthood.
- 1:12:45You know, we're standing for life and we're trying to create
- 1:12:48a movement and we're all trying to create a movement here that
- 1:12:51is unapologetically for every miraculous life.
- 1:12:55And that was a really incredible season where I've just found our
- 1:12:59company, built so much momentum again, got us into the
- 1:13:02mainstream and allowed people to see that, yes, we have the
- 1:13:06product, but we have this values component that sets us apart.
- 1:13:12There's no other diaper brand that is saying the things that
- 1:13:15we're saying and is donating. We've now been able to give out
- 1:13:18over 6,000,000 diapers to families who have chosen life
- 1:13:21for their babies. I know the live action community
- 1:13:23loves. And we're so thankful.
- 1:13:25Donating every life diapers to pregnancy thank.
- 1:13:27You we all are a part of that 6,000,000 amazing.
- 1:13:30Thank you because we we wouldn't be there if it wasn't for your
- 1:13:33community that is so passionate right about helping that mom and
- 1:13:37dad with the essentials and so many parents.
- 1:13:39I think we can look at diapers and think, is that really going
- 1:13:42to make a dent in somebody's life, life when they're in that
- 1:13:45situation where they're struggling?
- 1:13:46The answer is it absolutely can. You know, actually, 60% of
- 1:13:50people would say if they just had the resources and the
- 1:13:53practical essentials that they needed for parenthood, they
- 1:13:56would keep their baby. They just need a vision.
- 1:13:58They need, they need the hope, they need the practical and the
- 1:14:01fact that we get to come in with a product that's very simple.
- 1:14:04It's diapers and wipes, but every parent needs it and it
- 1:14:08stands for something so special. Every package and wipe when as
- 1:14:13soon as you open it, there's a Bible verse on it that says, you
- 1:14:16know, every good and perfect gift is from above.
- 1:14:18And it just reminds us of the gift that God has given us to
- 1:14:21not take it lightly. And even when you're changing
- 1:14:24that, that diaper, it's a moment to reflect on the goodness of
- 1:14:27God and that gift right in front of you, to not take it lightly
- 1:14:31and to have a heart of gratitude.
- 1:14:33Because I think a lot of times we can get tired as parents and
- 1:14:38forget that, man, this is the greatest privilege is being a
- 1:14:41mom is being a dad. I mean, it's the greatest role
- 1:14:44one could ever have in my opinion.
- 1:14:47And it deserves all of our attention and time.
- 1:14:50And I just want more people to see it that way.
- 1:14:53So we're trying really hard to do it, and it's been a beautiful
- 1:14:57moment. And that was a very big triumph
- 1:15:00moment for us when we had success in that campaign to
- 1:15:04really see the ripple effect and the open doors that came after
- 1:15:07that. And again, I feel like there's
- 1:15:10so much more to come. You know, we're at the best.
- 1:15:12Is just getting started, Sarah. It's very exciting.
- 1:15:16I have to ask because I think a lot of people are inspired by
- 1:15:20your story. I am.
- 1:15:21But if someone's listening, they think, OK, maybe I don't know if
- 1:15:24I would be able to start a publicly traded company or I
- 1:15:26don't even know if that's in my heart.
- 1:15:28But I want to be an entrepreneur.
- 1:15:29I want to start a side hustle, maybe to bring in more revenue
- 1:15:31for my family or explore some gifts or visions or dreams that
- 1:15:35I have. What would it?
- 1:15:36What would your advice be? My first piece of advice would
- 1:15:40be to stop and pray because I do think that even starting a a
- 1:15:44little side hustle as a mom, I think is a is a beautiful,
- 1:15:48wonderful thing. And I think the lie that you
- 1:15:51can't be a mom and have a career too is absurd.
- 1:15:54And I think it's very degrading and offensive actually to women,
- 1:15:58because we can. It is possible.
- 1:16:00And we have throughout human history and we exactly.
- 1:16:03So it is trad, yes, to be there we go.
- 1:16:07So let's remember that that right?
- 1:16:09But at the same time, it doesn't mean that path is for everybody.
- 1:16:12And I think that if you're going to embrace even a side hustle or
- 1:16:17a full time career and be a mom, it has to be.
- 1:16:20And we've talked a lot about God on the show, but it has to be
- 1:16:23driven through obedience from God because you're sacrificing a
- 1:16:28lot when you decide to do career and mom.
- 1:16:32I think it adds extra challenges at times between the family unit
- 1:16:36that you just have to be ready to embrace and you just have to
- 1:16:41assess that that question. And I do wish that our society,
- 1:16:46while they need to be saying you can do both because it is
- 1:16:48possible. I also think we could do a
- 1:16:51better job of not creating this mindset from a very early age
- 1:16:56that you have to have some career.
- 1:16:59What if you do want to be a mom full time?
- 1:17:01That should be that's your career.
- 1:17:03That is a career, that is a career full time job.
- 1:17:06And actually, instead of saying stay at home mom, I say you're a
- 1:17:10full time mom because you're full time working, taking care
- 1:17:15of the most precious thing right in front of you like that is
- 1:17:18that should be. Celebrated that should be
- 1:17:20rewarded quick sidebar. A big part of that is household
- 1:17:22management. Childcare is obviously crucial
- 1:17:25and and key your baby needs care 24/7, but it's also household
- 1:17:30management. And I think some women have the
- 1:17:32desire and the gifting and the ability and and it kind of works
- 1:17:35that I am the full time household manager.
- 1:17:37I don't want to make money a different way and then delegate
- 1:17:40pieces of my household out. I want to do it and they thrive
- 1:17:43at doing it. And that's an incredible job,
- 1:17:46vocational work, and it's beautiful.
- 1:17:48But that's also not every woman's approach.
- 1:17:51And that's totally fine, too. That's right.
- 1:17:54I think it's a an acceptance of what again has God put on your
- 1:17:59heart and where are your giftings going to come alive?
- 1:18:02What is he calling you into? Because I, I know for me, I did
- 1:18:07have this career minded track. I didn't have many people tell
- 1:18:11me at 15 years old, do you want to be a mom one day?
- 1:18:14I mean, I don't know if you got that question in your community,
- 1:18:16but like, that just wasn't a conversation.
- 1:18:18It was what college are you going to go to?
- 1:18:20What are you going to study? It isn't elevated the way that
- 1:18:23it should be in our society as a as a goal for most women.
- 1:18:28Not every woman is going to be a biological mother because not
- 1:18:31everyone will marry. But for most women, and I think
- 1:18:34what you're saying, I think folks on the show, I think
- 1:18:37there's this community largely agrees because it is every woman
- 1:18:42is going to have a different path with this and we have to
- 1:18:45listen to what God's call is. But if someone's listening to
- 1:18:47think, OK, I think God is calling me to a side hustle in
- 1:18:50part just to contribute to my family.
- 1:18:51But I had this idea and I don't want to make it necessarily this
- 1:18:54full time career, but it's something that I want to build
- 1:18:58one step at a time. What would I mean?
- 1:19:00Pray is obviously a key. Yeah, starting place, great
- 1:19:03starting place. And then, you know, it's the,
- 1:19:06the conversation we were having earlier of having No Fear.
- 1:19:10I mean, when God gives you this idea and you feel a yes from him
- 1:19:14after you prayed about it and your husband's in alignment and
- 1:19:17you're ready to go. I mean, have No Fear and, and
- 1:19:21seek out counsel. I, I, I mentioned that was a
- 1:19:23really big part of our journey too, of just getting wisdom and
- 1:19:27advice from people who have gone before us and have been mentors
- 1:19:31to us. I think that's really important
- 1:19:33anytime you're trying something new to get that advice and
- 1:19:37guidance. And, you know, I, I would say
- 1:19:40it's an exciting journey, you know, and, and you can do it and
- 1:19:44it's a, it's a beautiful thing And don't hold back, you know,
- 1:19:48give it, give it your all, have grace for yourself because
- 1:19:51you're going to, you're going to learn a lot along the way.
- 1:19:54And there's going to be moments where you do feel like you're,
- 1:19:57you're failing and you're, you're kind of on your face.
- 1:19:59But actually, it's in those moments usually when you're kind
- 1:20:01of on your face and feel like you're failing when you get some
- 1:20:04of the best ideas actually, right, because you're just kind
- 1:20:07of at that, that breaking point. And it sometimes actually that's
- 1:20:11a a really good place to be in. Well, I think what you're
- 1:20:13saying, like underpinning all that is just perseverance.
- 1:20:16Just keep trying, like everyday do one more thing for this idea.
- 1:20:20That's right, make one more phone call, send one more
- 1:20:22e-mail, have one more conversation, you know, do one
- 1:20:25more bit of research, one more bit of study, whatever it is
- 1:20:27like. Just keep trying.
- 1:20:29Like when I started live action, I had no idea what I was doing.
- 1:20:31I just started reading, assessing, talking to people.
- 1:20:34One step leads to the next. Do you have any tips for finding
- 1:20:39mentorship or counsel from people?
- 1:20:41Things that you might have done early on to find a mentor, or
- 1:20:44even just books that you recommend?
- 1:20:46Anything that might be starting places for?
- 1:20:48Folks, Yeah, I I mentioned, you know, we were a part of the JH
- 1:20:53Ranch community and I had some incredible married couples that
- 1:20:59I still go back today. And and actually, I think that
- 1:21:03can be one of the best places to start.
- 1:21:05And maybe not even finding an expert in the field of the idea
- 1:21:07that you're looking to pursue, but just finding a solid married
- 1:21:11couple maybe in your church or in your neighborhood and watch
- 1:21:15them do life, you know, watch them go about having a career.
- 1:21:21Because actually both of I think of this one couple that actually
- 1:21:24married us and they both were on mission together and they're
- 1:21:27both working. They had three kids.
- 1:21:29And I just remember watching them thinking, I want to be like
- 1:21:32them one day. Like this is this is it like
- 1:21:35they you say goals, like goals, family goals right there, right
- 1:21:39in front of me. And I was 22 years old just
- 1:21:41getting to observe and see how they dialogued about different
- 1:21:46components of their life and how they brought their kids in and
- 1:21:48moments where they could. And they also had moments of
- 1:21:51tension. And they actually let me come in
- 1:21:54and and watch that. And I actually hope at some
- 1:21:57point soon we're we're new to Florida and we've only been
- 1:21:59there for two years. But I feel like, you know, one
- 1:22:02part of our mission at some point will be I would love to be
- 1:22:05that to somebody else because I had that in my life.
- 1:22:08And I just you're going to get. People in the comments and Sarah
- 1:22:11adopt me. She's just got to move forward,
- 1:22:15to be careful. What I, what I wish for, but you
- 1:22:18know, it just, it really helped me have the perspective and the
- 1:22:22picture, the vision, like I needed the model, I needed the
- 1:22:25model and I got to see it. So I mean, man, if you can find
- 1:22:29that, that's such a great place to start.
- 1:22:32I love that and if you if you're having trouble finding it, pray
- 1:22:35there you go like go back and always come here like it always
- 1:22:37comes back to prayer, but it sure does it's powerful.
- 1:22:40It's so powerful. What's next for you, Sarah,
- 1:22:44besides delivering? Most importantly, delivering
- 1:22:46this little girlie. But I'm.
- 1:22:48Really excited about this next chapter.
- 1:22:50You know it's going to be different.
- 1:22:52We've had one baby, she's 2, and we've loved being a family of
- 1:22:57three. But I am most excited in this
- 1:22:59next chapter to be a family of four and welcome another girl
- 1:23:03into the world and actually go back to the newborn days, the
- 1:23:08snuggles, the quiet time. I'm still going to be involved
- 1:23:12with every life and but I'm going to take some time to tend
- 1:23:16to this new little life that I get to cherish and hold.
- 1:23:19And I'm not going to take it lightly.
- 1:23:21And I'm going to soak in every single second that I can.
- 1:23:24And I'm actually really looking forward to it.
- 1:23:27And I think that's another really big piece.
- 1:23:29And I wish we had more time to talk, but they're so there's so
- 1:23:32much in that postpartum season that, you know, I hear all the
- 1:23:37time people struggle with. And I, I had struggles in my
- 1:23:40first season of postpartum with my, with my first 'cause there's
- 1:23:43so much unknown, right? But it goes back to a culture
- 1:23:47that does start preparing people more for motherhood and that
- 1:23:50season, because I think if we did that better, we talked about
- 1:23:54these topics more. Made it more familiar and
- 1:23:56comfortable. There wouldn't be so much
- 1:23:59tension and angst angst. So I'm I'm thankful doing it a
- 1:24:03second time because I've I've done it once before.
- 1:24:06I know some of the challenges that I felt and I'm excited to
- 1:24:10see God just kind of work me really rely on God and and work
- 1:24:15with him through that time of stillness.
- 1:24:18I think one of the hardest things for me is just being
- 1:24:20still. As you can imagine, I'm I go,
- 1:24:22go, go, move, move, move, move. But it's it's actually really
- 1:24:25sacred to just like sit and be still and know that he's God and
- 1:24:30hold that little life and I'm ready, I'm ready for that.
- 1:24:33So that's what's next right around the corner technically
- 1:24:37any day now. And then, you know, with every
- 1:24:39life we're going to, we're going to keep growing.
- 1:24:42You know, we want to be a household name.
- 1:24:43We want to you will be Sarah. Thank you.
- 1:24:46I believe so. Excited for that.
- 1:24:47Also gives me chills again. But I'm just.
- 1:24:49I'm so excited for that. For you, yeah.
- 1:24:51I, I really believe in what we're building.
- 1:24:53I wouldn't, I wouldn't do it if if we didn't.
- 1:24:55And I think we have an opportunity to be a business
- 1:24:59that's for profit, that is standing for life.
- 1:25:02And the more businesses that can do that, the stronger our
- 1:25:06country will be. And I'm excited to keep building
- 1:25:09that culture, building more products and making every life a
- 1:25:13place where every family can go to get all the essentials they
- 1:25:16need for their baby and beyond. And that's where we're headed.
- 1:25:20And we're going to keep serving our nonprofit partners.
- 1:25:22That's a huge part of what we do.
- 1:25:24And many people probably don't know that because we were direct
- 1:25:27to consumer business, but we have over 1000 nonprofits,
- 1:25:30pregnancy centers, the live actions, the other organizations
- 1:25:33that we get to work with to help supply these products to moms
- 1:25:37and dads who need them. So I'm excited to grow that and,
- 1:25:40and really build more relationships in that sector.
- 1:25:43And it's it's an exciting time. I'm so proud of you and excited
- 1:25:48for what you're building and thank you for everything that
- 1:25:51you've done for the movement and for being you and where can
- 1:25:55people find you. That's a good question.

- 1:26:32watch you live your life. But man, thank you for your yes
- 1:26:36because because it allowed me to learn and grow so much in that
- 1:26:40pivotal time in my life. Praise God, Thank you.
