- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome. It is verdic with Center, Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson
- 0:03Speaker 1: with you, and we've got a big show for you today,
- 0:05Speaker 1: including really an incredible moment at the White House honoring
- 0:09Speaker 1: Charlie Kirk on what would have been his birthday. We're
- 0:13Speaker 1: going to talk about that center you were there. But
- 0:16Speaker 1: also we've got an update as well on the government shutdown.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Well, it is day fifteen of the Schumer shutdown. The
- 0:22Speaker 2: government remains shut down. We voted on Tuesday to reopen
- 0:27Speaker 2: the government. The Republicans voted to reopen the government, and sadly,
- 0:30Speaker 2: the Democrats continued to say shut it down, shut it down,
- 0:33Speaker 2: shut it down. Now today October fifteenth, the President is
- 0:36Speaker 2: doing something that is really kind of wrecking the Democrats playbook,
- 0:41Speaker 2: which is the President moved funds around within the Department
- 0:44Speaker 2: of War and he said, we're going to pay our
- 0:46Speaker 2: servicemen and women. We're going to send out their paychecks.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I think Schumer and the Democrats were counting on these
- 0:51Speaker 2: paychecks not going out. You have a number of Democrats
- 0:54Speaker 2: expressing their dismay about it. We're going to break that
- 0:56Speaker 2: down and tell you what's happening about the shutdown. We're
- 1:00Speaker 2: also going to talk about, as you noted, Tuesday, President
- 1:04Speaker 2: Trump in the Rose Garden gave Charlie Kirk posthumously the
- 1:08Speaker 2: Presidential Medal of Freedom. I was there. It was an
- 1:11Speaker 2: incredible event. It honored his life. We're going to talk
- 1:14Speaker 2: to you about that as well.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a really important conversation that we're going to
- 1:18Speaker 1: have about that, and it's one that's not being reported
- 1:20Speaker 1: on as well. So we hope that you guys are
- 1:23Speaker 1: going to take that story and share it wherever you
- 1:25Speaker 1: can on social media, sharing this podcast. We're going to
- 1:27Speaker 1: have that for you in a moment. Many of you
- 1:30Speaker 1: may not know this. I've actually owned two different barbecue restaurants,
- 1:33Speaker 1: one right now, and the quality of meat when you
- 1:37Speaker 1: want to make amazing food is so vitally important. Now
- 1:40Speaker 1: you've heard a big pharm up, but have you ever
- 1:42Speaker 1: heard a big ag? Did you know that eighty five
- 1:45Speaker 1: percent of American beef is controlled by just four major companies.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Just because you buy American doesn't mean you're buying healthy
- 1:54Speaker 1: and buying organic only means they control what the cattle eat,
- 1:57Speaker 1: not how they live. Well, that's why I want you
- 2:00Speaker 1: to know about backyard butchers. It is Texas steer steaks
- 2:04Speaker 1: that come directly from a real Texas ranch where the
- 2:08Speaker 1: cattle are raised, process and ship from the same location,
- 2:12Speaker 1: completely bypassing Big AG. These Texas teers are ninety eight
- 2:17Speaker 1: percent grass fed and then two percent natural grain finish.
- 2:22Speaker 1: That's how you get amazing steaks with no growth hormones,
- 2:26Speaker 1: no antibiotics, and no preservatives. The quality and flavor are
- 2:30Speaker 1: just straight up exceptional. Making America healthy again. Yes, that
- 2:35Speaker 1: is a big deal, and it starts with going back
- 2:37Speaker 1: to our roots and eating real meat from the hard
- 2:40Speaker 1: working ranchers who raise cattle the right way. So try it,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you're gonna love it. So go to Backyard Butchers dot com.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Enter the promo code verdict for up to thirty percent off,
- 2:52Speaker 1: two free ten ounce ribbis and free shipping when you subscribe.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So fight back against Big AG with your fork. Support
- 3:01Speaker 1: American Rangers, support Texas and you're gonna get a great
- 3:04Speaker 1: meal Backyard Butchers dot Com promo code Verdict to get
- 3:09Speaker 1: up to thirty percent off and two free ten ounce
- 3:11Speaker 1: rabbis plus free shipping. Right now, all right, Senator, so
- 3:15Speaker 1: let's just talk about like where we are to give
- 3:18Speaker 1: the updates This is something I think it's important for
- 3:20Speaker 1: us to do when it comes to shutdown what is
- 3:23Speaker 1: happening now in Washington, And I got a feeling you're
- 3:26Speaker 1: gonna be like nothing at all.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, look it's October fifteenth. So one of the consequences
- 3:31Speaker 2: is is federal workers all across the federal government had
- 3:35Speaker 2: their paycheck not direct deposited. And so for a lot
- 3:38Speaker 2: of workers who are living paycheck to paycheck, it means
- 3:41Speaker 2: they're not getting the check that they were planning on
- 3:43Speaker 2: to pay their bills. They're not getting the check they're
- 3:45Speaker 2: planning on to go to the grocery store. They're not
- 3:48Speaker 2: getting the check they're planning on to pay healthcare expenses,
- 3:52Speaker 2: tuition expenses, all daycare expenses, all of the day to
- 3:56Speaker 2: day expenses. It was also scheduled to be the day
- 4:01Speaker 2: on which our troops, our soldiers, our sailors, our airmenham
- 4:05Speaker 2: marines would not get paid either. And and we've seen
- 4:08Speaker 2: online images of young soldiers standing in line at at
- 4:13Speaker 2: at food pantries to get food. You know, many of
- 4:16Speaker 2: our young, particularly enlisted men and women, are living on
- 4:20Speaker 2: very limited budgets and and and not getting a paycheck
- 4:23Speaker 2: is a real hardship for them. Now, I will say
- 4:25Speaker 2: the latter has not happened because President Trump has done
- 4:29Speaker 2: something that I don't think has ever happened in the
- 4:31Speaker 2: previous shutdown, which which is he has readjusted money that
- 4:35Speaker 2: was going to other expenses within the Department of War.
- 4:38Speaker 2: He's shifted it around to an account to pay our
- 4:42Speaker 2: servicemen and women. I'm grateful that he did so. It
- 4:45Speaker 2: really is quite striking that the Democrats, multiple Democrats, are
- 4:48Speaker 2: expressing dismay, how dare you pay our servicemen and women? Uh?
- 4:53Speaker 2: But on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the Senate came back in
- 4:57Speaker 2: town and we voted. We voted for the ninth time,
- 5:00Speaker 2: Republicans voted to reopen the government. I voted to reopen
- 5:04Speaker 2: the government. We're ready to reopen it. And the Democrats
- 5:07Speaker 2: came in almost party line, All but a couple of
- 5:09Speaker 2: Democrats voted no, no, no, keep the government down. And
- 5:13Speaker 2: by the way, Schumer recently said it was quote better
- 5:16Speaker 2: for Democrats to extend the government shutdown. Now, I got
- 5:20Speaker 2: to say that's a cynical statement. They're counting on the
- 5:23Speaker 2: media to be dishonest about what's going on. But listen,
- 5:27Speaker 2: the end of this is it's going to end in
- 5:31Speaker 2: the same place. At some point, the Democrats are going
- 5:34Speaker 2: to give in. And I'll tell you what most of
- 5:37Speaker 2: the Republican senators believe, myself included, which is the shutdown
- 5:41Speaker 2: will continue at least until next week. And the reason
- 5:46Speaker 2: for that is on October eighteenth, on Saturday, there is
- 5:50Speaker 2: a big rally planned in Washington, d C. The so
- 5:53Speaker 2: called No King's Rally, where a bunch of leftist radicals
- 5:56Speaker 2: are going to be coming to Washington, d C. To
- 5:58Speaker 2: protest against Donald try Trump. Because that's what the left does,
- 6:01Speaker 2: is they say we hate Trump, we hate Trump. And
- 6:04Speaker 2: what I'm hearing is the Democrats are terrified of reopening
- 6:09Speaker 2: the government before that No King's Rally because they think
- 6:14Speaker 2: if they do reopen the government, those radicals will be furious.
- 6:17Speaker 2: And listen, why are we having a shutdown. We're having
- 6:20Speaker 2: a shut down two reasons. Number one, because the Democrats
- 6:23Speaker 2: want free, taxpayer provided health care for illegal aliens. But
- 6:27Speaker 2: number two, the real reason we're having a shutdown is
- 6:29Speaker 2: because Chuck Schumer is fighting for his political life and
- 6:33Speaker 2: he's trying to demonstrate to the radical left he hates
- 6:36Speaker 2: Trump as much as they do and so I think
- 6:40Speaker 2: at a minimum, the shutdown will continue through this weekend.
- 6:44Speaker 2: The earliest we see the government opening up is next week.
- 6:47Speaker 2: But you know what, Schumer and the Democrats might make
- 6:49Speaker 2: it drag out even further than that, because right now
- 6:52Speaker 2: they seem utterly oblivious to the consequences of their massive
- 6:56Speaker 2: political obstruction.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it really is. And I go back to being
- 7:01Speaker 1: held hostage and the fact that Democrats are really outraged
- 7:05Speaker 1: over the idea of paying our military. I think that's
- 7:09Speaker 1: just really gross. I am shocked they're not taking a
- 7:13Speaker 1: bigger political hit, and the media is just giving them
- 7:16Speaker 1: full coverage on this one to act like their outrage
- 7:20Speaker 1: is somehow sane or normal. I actually think the American
- 7:23Speaker 1: people look at this otherwise. Am I wrong?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Look, I think you're right, although candidly, I think each
- 7:30Speaker 2: side lives in its own echo chamber. So I think
- 7:33Speaker 2: if you're inclined to agree with Republicans, your view is, Gosh,
- 7:38Speaker 2: the Democrats are being ridiculous. This is the Schumer shutdown now. Sadly,
- 7:42Speaker 2: if you're inclined to agree with Democrats, if you're on
- 7:45Speaker 2: the left, you're listening to see it in you're listening
- 7:48Speaker 2: to MSNBC. You're in an echo chamber where everyone you
- 7:52Speaker 2: hear is saying, it's the horrible Republicans, It's the horrible Republicans,
- 7:56Speaker 2: and so I think that's part of the reason why
- 7:58Speaker 2: the two sides have very different percent I don't think
- 8:00Speaker 2: this is going well for the Democrats at all, but
- 8:04Speaker 2: I'm not sure they agree, because if they're just listening
- 8:09Speaker 2: to their radicals, they think it's wonderful. By the way,
- 8:11Speaker 2: their radicals would leave the government shut down for months
- 8:14Speaker 2: and months and months, because all they care about is
- 8:18Speaker 2: saying we hate Trump. Now here's how this is gonna end.
- 8:23Speaker 2: I don't think Chuck Schumer is gonna end it. I
- 8:25Speaker 2: don't think he's gonna show any leadership because I think
- 8:27Speaker 2: he is terrified. He is hearing AOC breathing down his neck.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What I think is going to happen is you're going
- 8:36Speaker 2: to need at least seven Democrats who decide, Okay, enough
- 8:40Speaker 2: is enough, let's reopen the government, let's stop this petulance.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And I think it is going to be almost exclusively
- 8:48Speaker 2: retiring Democrats, people who are on their way out and
- 8:55Speaker 2: Democrats who are not facing their left wing voters anytime soon.
- 9:00Speaker 2: My guess is Schumer never votes to open the government,
- 9:03Speaker 2: but I think he may condone. He may look the
- 9:06Speaker 2: other way and wink a couple of times at letting
- 9:09Speaker 2: a little bit of a jail break, at letting eight
- 9:11Speaker 2: to ten Democrats vote to say, let's reopen the government,
- 9:15Speaker 2: and I think all the rest of the Democrats vote no, no, no,
- 9:17Speaker 2: to preserve themselves from their left flank.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Do you believe that Democrats will actually sit down with Republicans.
- 9:24Speaker 1: It's really something that hasn't happened. Certainly on the House side,
- 9:27Speaker 1: Democrats are saying and no, we have nothing to talk about.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Do you think that Democrats will be let out of
- 9:34Speaker 1: that jail once this No King's rally takes place? And
- 9:37Speaker 1: how quickly afterwards do you think we can actually see
- 9:39Speaker 1: that conversation begin.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Well, look, right now, Schumer is not talking with Republican
- 9:44Speaker 2: leadership at King Jeffries in the House is not talking
- 9:47Speaker 2: with Republican leadership. I don't think it will be Democrat leadership.
- 9:50Speaker 2: That there's a group of about a dozen Democrat senators
- 9:54Speaker 2: who are having conversations and they're talking a little bit
- 9:57Speaker 2: to Republicans. And I think the way this will end
- 10:00Speaker 2: is after the rally. And by the way, think about it.
- 10:03Speaker 2: If you're a federal worker right now and you're working
- 10:06Speaker 2: at say the VA, and you didn't get your paycheck today,
- 10:09Speaker 2: the reason you didn't get your paycheck is the Democrats
- 10:12Speaker 2: are scared to have a rally of radicals in Washington
- 10:16Speaker 2: while they allowed you to get your paycheck. I mean,
- 10:19Speaker 2: this is pure left wing politics. And by the way,
- 10:23Speaker 2: Schumer's comment on this, he said, quote, every day gets
- 10:27Speaker 2: better for us, he said, quote every day the Republicans
- 10:29Speaker 2: refused to negotiate to end this shutdown, the worse it
- 10:32Speaker 2: gets for Americans, and the clear it becomes who's fighting
- 10:35Speaker 2: for them. That is their view, or that is at
- 10:40Speaker 2: least the view of the radicals. But I think what
- 10:42Speaker 2: you'll see is among that roughly dozen Democrats who are
- 10:48Speaker 2: having conversations right now, you'll see seven, eight nine of
- 10:51Speaker 2: them say Okay, let's open the government. And that's how
- 10:54Speaker 2: this ends.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Final question on this. The President today at the White
- 10:57Speaker 1: House did talk about, Hey, you better get ready come
- 11:00Speaker 1: Thursday Friday. You guys don't get back on board of
- 11:04Speaker 1: opening the government up, I'm going to start cutting democratic
- 11:06Speaker 1: programs because we think there's a lot of waste there,
- 11:09Speaker 1: not Republican programs. Is that the type of leverage that
- 11:12Speaker 1: we need right now?
- 11:14Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 11:14Speaker 3: So.
- 11:15Speaker 2: I was at the White House on Tuesday. I talked
- 11:18Speaker 2: with many Cabinet members. I talked with Russ Vode, who's
- 11:21Speaker 2: the head of the Office of Management and Budget and
- 11:23Speaker 2: he's in charge of the layoffs. And they've already started.
- 11:25Speaker 2: They've laid off thousands of federal government workers. And the
- 11:29Speaker 2: Trump White House has said the longer the shutdown continues,
- 11:32Speaker 2: the more government workers will be laid off, not furloughed temporarily,
- 11:36Speaker 2: but laid off. And they're going to focus on policies
- 11:39Speaker 2: and priorities that are inconsistent with the President's agenda, that
- 11:43Speaker 2: are Democrat priorities. And I think that leverage will accelerate
- 11:48Speaker 2: the Democrats saying Okay, we're going to stop holding the
- 11:51Speaker 2: government hostage, and we're going to allow the clean Continual
- 11:55Speaker 2: Resolution that the House passed weeks ago. We're going to
- 11:58Speaker 2: allow that to be signed to.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Speaking of the White House, as you just mentioned, you
- 12:03Speaker 1: were there with many Cabinet members that were in attendance
- 12:07Speaker 1: for a really I think special moment. You and I
- 12:11Speaker 1: had the honor and the privilege to go to the
- 12:13Speaker 1: memorial service for Charlie Kirk. What we witnessed today was
- 12:17Speaker 1: something incredible. Donald Trump awarded Charlie Kirk the Medal of
- 12:21Speaker 1: Freedom on what would have been his thirty second birthday
- 12:26Speaker 1: at the White House and his wife, his widow, Erica,
- 12:30Speaker 1: was there to accept this. It was a moving moment
- 12:33Speaker 1: and you were there for all of it.
- 12:35Speaker 2: So it was truly a beautiful It was a beautiful day.
- 12:38Speaker 2: It was a beautiful fall day at October at Washington,
- 12:41Speaker 2: d c. The sun was out. We were in the
- 12:43Speaker 2: Rose Garden, and in the Rose garden you had you
- 12:47Speaker 2: had a lot of members of Congress, you had virtually
- 12:50Speaker 2: the entire cabinet came out for it, and Erica Kirk,
- 12:53Speaker 2: Charlie's widow, was there. The President really, i think did
- 12:56Speaker 2: a very good job remembering Charlie, speaking speed from the heart,
- 13:01Speaker 2: honoring Charlie's legacy, and presenting him with the highest civilian
- 13:05Speaker 2: honor we have in this country and in the military context,
- 13:09Speaker 2: the Medal of Honor is the highest recipient that that
- 13:14Speaker 2: can be awarded an individual. In the civilian context, the
- 13:16Speaker 2: Medal of Freedom, it is the highest honor that can
- 13:19Speaker 2: be awarded an individual and to give it to Charlie.
- 13:25Speaker 2: It was bittersweet because Charlie would have been thirty two.
- 13:27Speaker 2: He was a young man. He had an incredibly bright future,
- 13:31Speaker 2: as you and I have talked about. We both have
- 13:33Speaker 2: known Charlie a long time. I considered Charlie a very
- 13:36Speaker 2: close friend. Heidie and I met Charlie when he was
- 13:40Speaker 2: just eighteen years old, when he was a kid, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 2: at the ceremony at the White House, I met Charlie's parents.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I had not met his parents before, and I had
- 13:50Speaker 2: an opportunity to just just tell both his mom and
- 13:53Speaker 2: dad say, look look, Hidie and I we love Charlie.
- 13:57Speaker 2: And when we got to know him fourteen years ago,
- 14:05Speaker 2: his vision then was as clear as it was the
- 14:09Speaker 2: day he died. His vision of creating a movement to energize,
- 14:14Speaker 2: to mobilize young people, to mobilize young people to love freedom,
- 14:19Speaker 2: to love, free enterprise, to love the Constitution, to love America.
- 14:25Speaker 2: That vision, you could see it. What I met at
- 14:28Speaker 2: me was this tall, lanky, eighteen year old kid, was
- 14:31Speaker 2: fresh out of high school, had not gone to college.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And you gotta remember the context. This is twenty twelve,
- 14:37Speaker 2: beginning of twenty thirteen, Barack Obama had just been reelected.
- 14:41Speaker 2: The Democrats were resurgent at that point. Young people being
- 14:45Speaker 2: a Democrat at an Obama democrat was hip and cool.
- 14:50Speaker 2: The idea of energizing a lot of young people to
- 14:52Speaker 2: be conservatives, frankly, sounded looney. It did not sound like
- 14:57Speaker 2: an easy task at all. A lot of people in
- 14:59Speaker 2: the Republican Party said this will never work. But Charlie
- 15:02Speaker 2: had a vision. And I was telling his mom and dad.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I said, look, his vision was extraordinary. One of the
- 15:09Speaker 2: things I said to them is I said, look, I'm
- 15:11Speaker 2: queer grieving the loss of your son. He was extraordinram
- 15:14Speaker 2: so sorry, so sorry for your loss. But I said,
- 15:17Speaker 2: you know what I think, in the last month, it
- 15:23Speaker 2: may well be possible that more people have heard the
- 15:27Speaker 2: Gospel than in any comparable period of our lifetimes. That
- 15:32Speaker 2: that memorial service in Arizona for Charlie was a global
- 15:37Speaker 2: event where people heard the gospel. And I got to
- 15:40Speaker 2: say at Charlie's funeral service when Erica stood up and
- 15:45Speaker 2: she talked about how when Jesus was hanging on the
- 15:48Speaker 2: cross and he was looking down at the Roman soldiers
- 15:52Speaker 2: who had nailed him to the Cross, who were in
- 15:54Speaker 2: the process of killing him, and Jesus said, from the Cross, Father,
- 16:00Speaker 2: forgive them, for they know not what they do. And
- 16:03Speaker 2: she talked about how how Charlie really had a mission
- 16:06Speaker 2: for young people, particularly young men, young men who were
- 16:09Speaker 2: often disaffected, disillusion to help them find find their way
- 16:14Speaker 2: and find find a purpose in life, a meaningful purpose
- 16:19Speaker 2: that provides real, real satisfaction and real reason uh for living.
- 16:27Speaker 2: And she talked about that young man who shot Charlie,
- 16:31Speaker 2: that young man, and then she said, and I got
- 16:35Speaker 2: to say, she was doing this wind up. I knew you,
- 16:38Speaker 2: knew where she was going. And I got to tell you,
- 16:41Speaker 2: and I understand you and I were standing next to
- 16:43Speaker 2: each other. I literally held my breath. I'm like, is
- 16:47Speaker 2: she going to be able to say this? And she
- 16:51Speaker 2: stood up with with the eyes of the world upon
- 16:54Speaker 2: him and said, that young man, the young man who
- 16:57Speaker 2: pulled the trigger and murdered her husband, murdered the father
- 17:00Speaker 2: for children. She said, I forgive him. I don't know
- 17:07Speaker 2: that there was a dry eye in the house. And
- 17:11Speaker 2: one of the things that is so incredible is millions
- 17:15Speaker 2: of people were watching that and and listen, if you're
- 17:18Speaker 2: a Christian, you understand just like Jesus said, Father, forgive them,
- 17:26Speaker 2: for they know not what they do, even as they
- 17:28Speaker 2: were killing him. But if you're not a Christian, I
- 17:35Speaker 2: believe thousands, if not millions, of people looked at each
- 17:38Speaker 2: other and said, how can she say that? Where does
- 17:41Speaker 2: that come from? Where does that forgiveness come from? Where
- 17:44Speaker 2: does that love come from? And I think it was
- 17:48Speaker 2: as powerful a testament of the Gospel as as as
- 17:52Speaker 2: as we have seen in a long long time, and
- 17:56Speaker 2: and and and it and I got to say today
- 17:59Speaker 2: the President spoke beautifully. And by the way, when Erica
- 18:04Speaker 2: said I forgive him, Ben, I hope and pray you
- 18:10Speaker 2: or I are never in that situation. I don't know
- 18:13Speaker 2: that those words could come out of my mouth. I
- 18:14Speaker 2: would want them to, I would desperately want them to.
- 18:18Speaker 2: But I that the strength it took for her to
- 18:24Speaker 2: say those words I find utterly astonishing. And I just
- 18:30Speaker 2: I told Charlie's parents, I said, listen, I so wish
- 18:34Speaker 2: Charlie were with us today. But millions have heard the
- 18:38Speaker 2: Gospel in the last several weeks because of Charlie, and
- 18:42Speaker 2: that is one hell of a legacy.
- 18:47Speaker 1: So over the last several weeks, you've heard me talk
- 18:49Speaker 1: with Josherrard from Berna. He's been telling stories of how
- 18:53Speaker 1: people just like you have used their Berna launcher to
- 18:56Speaker 1: protect themselves and their families. Now, Burna is a handheld
- 19:00Speaker 1: pistol that fires both kinetic rounds and chemical irritants to
- 19:05Speaker 1: separate you from an attacker, and it can be life saving.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Josh is back with you today to tell another story
- 19:12Speaker 1: about how a former professional race car driver saved his
- 19:15Speaker 1: family from an attack outside the garage of their own home. Josh,
- 19:20Speaker 1: tell me about this.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah, it just happened, actually not too long ago in
- 19:23Speaker 3: Santa Monica, just two blocks from the beach. So former
- 19:27Speaker 3: pro race car driver Court Wagner was pulling into his
- 19:29Speaker 3: garage with his family in the car when he was
- 19:32Speaker 3: confronted by a man hiding in the alley. After trying
- 19:35Speaker 3: to talk to him into leaving, it was obviously not
- 19:38Speaker 3: going to work. The man lunged at Court with a
- 19:40Speaker 3: sharp object, trying to attack him, with his wife and
- 19:43Speaker 3: child only steps away. He grabbed his Burnal launcher that
- 19:45Speaker 3: he kept in the glove box of his car and
- 19:48Speaker 3: fired five rounds, striking the attackers several times. The suspect
- 19:51Speaker 3: fled immediately it worked, and Court called the police and
- 19:54Speaker 3: gave him the description of the assailant, and now police
- 19:57Speaker 3: were able to locate someone that somewhat matched a description
- 19:59Speaker 3: in the area, not quite exactly. And it wasn't until
- 20:02Speaker 3: officers lifted the suspect shirt and saw the multiple wealths
- 20:06Speaker 3: from the burn A launchers that they knew they had
- 20:08Speaker 3: the right guy and subsequently arrested him.
- 20:11Speaker 1: It really is incredible. And I get this question now
- 20:14Speaker 1: often when I'm out, and that is okay. Tell me
- 20:16Speaker 1: about how a launcher works, and they worry about or
- 20:19Speaker 1: they wonder about the stopping power of less lethal weapons.
- 20:23Speaker 1: I've used it. It's amazing. I have it in all
- 20:27Speaker 1: of my cars right now because I want to have
- 20:29Speaker 1: this option.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Absolutely, you know, the stopping power is great, no
- 20:32Speaker 3: matter if you're using our kinetic rounds or even the
- 20:34Speaker 3: chemical agent rounds that obviously have the gas in them,
- 20:37Speaker 3: the tear gas, the pepper spray that's going to incapacitate them.
- 20:40Speaker 3: I mean, this is a great case of how some
- 20:42Speaker 3: resistance enough resistance obviously to cause these wealths immediately stop
- 20:47Speaker 3: the situation, and was able to provide that safety for
- 20:50Speaker 3: Court and his family.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It really is incredible. If you want more information on
- 20:55Speaker 1: what I carry and how you and your family members
- 20:57Speaker 1: can protect themselves or they burn a launcher webs there
- 21:00Speaker 1: is for a daughter, or for a family member or
- 21:03Speaker 1: a grandparent, go to Berna b why r in a
- 21:06Speaker 1: dot com? That's burna b why r ina dot com again?
- 21:11Speaker 1: Burna dot com right now? You know, I think one
- 21:15Speaker 1: of the most incredible things that you just mentioned is
- 21:18Speaker 1: the legacy. And one of the things that the President
- 21:20Speaker 1: said today at the White House for people that didn't
- 21:22Speaker 1: hear it, was talking about Charlie Kirk being a martyr.
- 21:26Speaker 1: And this is what the President said about that.
- 21:29Speaker 4: Said on the day that he was assassinated. Charlie Kirk
- 21:32Speaker 4: was a martyr for truth and for freedom, and from
- 21:37Speaker 4: Socrates to Think and to Saint Peter, from Abraham Lincoln
- 21:42Speaker 4: to Martin Luther King, those who change history the most,
- 21:47Speaker 4: and he really did have always risked their lives for
- 21:51Speaker 4: causes they were put on earth to defend. He was
- 21:54Speaker 4: put on earth to do exactly what he was doing.
- 21:57Speaker 4: He didn't want to waste time. He would have been
- 21:58Speaker 4: a top student at any college in the country I know,
- 22:02Speaker 4: to college as well he's smarter than the guys. He
- 22:05Speaker 4: was so smart. But he almost I guess, didn't have
- 22:08Speaker 4: the time. He knew what he wanted to do. It
- 22:10Speaker 4: wasn't like Jae I want to sit in this classroom
- 22:12Speaker 4: for four years listening to people teach me liberal principles,
- 22:15Speaker 4: because they were never going to teach him that anyway.
- 22:18Speaker 4: But he didn't have the time. He really didn't have
- 22:20Speaker 4: the time. But every time the enemies of goodness and
- 22:24Speaker 4: virtue tried to silence the voice of righteous and noble
- 22:27Speaker 4: leaders like Charlie, they failed. They seem to fail. Ultimately,
- 22:30Speaker 4: they look like they're doing well, and then they end
- 22:32Speaker 4: up failing because the truth has been unrelenting over the years,
- 22:37Speaker 4: over history, and people like Charlie, it's just they've got
- 22:42Speaker 4: a power that others don't have, and very few people
- 22:46Speaker 4: will ever have. So today, like those martyrs before him,
- 22:50Speaker 4: Charlie's voice, his message, and his legacy are stronger and
- 22:54Speaker 4: greater than ever before. They are greater than ever before.
- 22:59Speaker 1: You know him saying as I said on the day
- 23:01Speaker 1: he was assassinated, Charlie Kirk was a martyr for truth
- 23:04Speaker 1: and for freedom, and I couldn't agree more. To compare
- 23:08Speaker 1: him as he did to Saint Peter, to Abraham Lincoln,
- 23:12Speaker 1: to Martin Luther King Junior. These are people that change history.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Charlie will be remembered in the same breath with those
- 23:19Speaker 1: types of leaders, and I think that's part of the legacy.
- 23:23Speaker 1: And as you mentioned, not only did Charlie and his
- 23:25Speaker 1: legacy now it is one hundred percent setting I think
- 23:29Speaker 1: young men and young women on fire to be bolder
- 23:31Speaker 1: in their faith, to be better Christians and to seek
- 23:35Speaker 1: the truth of the Bible and the Gospel. And just
- 23:39Speaker 1: what he was able to do in his death is phenomenal,
- 23:43Speaker 1: but also what he was doing to fight for this
- 23:45Speaker 1: country at the same time, that is going to be
- 23:47Speaker 1: a legacy that's going to live on because so many
- 23:50Speaker 1: people they are going to do it for Charlie. I
- 23:52Speaker 1: think you and I would include ourselves in that as well.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Well. Listen, he was very much He was a martyr
- 23:58Speaker 2: for freedom, a martyr for truth. I also told Charlie's parents,
- 24:03Speaker 2: I think more people heard Charlie's words of the last
- 24:07Speaker 2: four weeks that then heard them in the entire thirty
- 24:10Speaker 2: one nearly thirty two years of his life. That the
- 24:14Speaker 2: number of people who went and said, who was this
- 24:17Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk guy? What did he have to say? Who
- 24:19Speaker 2: listened to exchanges as he was on college campuses, as
- 24:23Speaker 2: he was engaging with people who disagreed with him, as
- 24:25Speaker 2: he treated them with respect, with dignity. That is a
- 24:29Speaker 2: powerful legacy. I will tell you. One of the things
- 24:32Speaker 2: that was also striking about the Metal of Freedom ceremony
- 24:35Speaker 2: is it was a continuation of a conversation that happened
- 24:39Speaker 2: at Charlie's funeral ceremony. So at the funeral, Erica Kirk
- 24:42Speaker 2: spoke and I mentioned how she said that she forgives
- 24:48Speaker 2: the murderer who murdered her husband, and she talks about
- 24:51Speaker 2: how Jesus teaches us to love our enemies. And you know,
- 24:56Speaker 2: Trump spoke at the funeral, and he gave, I think,
- 25:00Speaker 2: very strong remarks. But one of the things he said
- 25:02Speaker 2: is he said that's something he had a great deal
- 25:04Speaker 2: of difficulty doing, that he did not love his enemies,
- 25:06Speaker 2: that he hated his enemies, and he liked to fight
- 25:09Speaker 2: his enemies. And he kind of laughed about it, but
- 25:12Speaker 2: he said that, and and it was that was a
- 25:15Speaker 2: back and forth from Arizona. Well in the Rose Garden,
- 25:20Speaker 2: Trump brought it up again, and and look, President Trump
- 25:24Speaker 2: knew Charlie very well, and he said, you know, I
- 25:27Speaker 2: know Erica talked about how he loved his enemies. But
- 25:29Speaker 2: he said, you know, when I talked to Charlie, he said,
- 25:31Speaker 2: I'm not sure I saw that. I think he like
- 25:34Speaker 2: when he was in a battle, he would fight, fight
- 25:36Speaker 2: his enemies and fight them vigorously. And listen, Charlie was
- 25:40Speaker 2: a strong man and a passionate man who knew what
- 25:43Speaker 2: he believed. But it was very interesting. Erica spoke after
- 25:48Speaker 2: the President in the Rose Garden and she gave beautiful remarks.
- 25:52Speaker 2: But one of the things she said that I think
- 25:54Speaker 2: was directly responding to the president. She said, look, I
- 25:57Speaker 2: can tell you from having been married to him, Charlie
- 26:01Speaker 2: prayed for his enemies. And she said I saw that.
- 26:05Speaker 2: She said, I don't know that anyone else saw that,
- 26:08Speaker 2: but she said, I saw him and he prayed for
- 26:10Speaker 2: his enemies. And and President Trump was standing behind her
- 26:14Speaker 2: right shoulder, and she said it was it was lighthearted,
- 26:16Speaker 2: but she was kind of she was in many ways
- 26:18Speaker 2: responding to the President. And he like laughed, He was
- 26:21Speaker 2: good natured, but he was genuinely laughing and it was
- 26:23Speaker 2: a look. I think it was a good back and
- 26:25Speaker 2: forth that that that we should be vigorous in what
- 26:29Speaker 2: we believe. We should not not give in uh to
- 26:34Speaker 2: to to those who argue for positions that are harmful
- 26:37Speaker 2: to America. We should be full throated in our argument.
- 26:40Speaker 1: But but I.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Also think that the message that Erica was carrying forward
- 26:45Speaker 2: about it's possible to disagree, and and look, you go
- 26:49Speaker 2: watch the exchanges Charlie had on college campus after college campus,
- 26:53Speaker 2: when when you would have someone come in and argue
- 26:56Speaker 2: for open borders, when you would have someone come in
- 26:59Speaker 2: and argue for socialism, when someone come in and argue
- 27:02Speaker 2: for transgenderism, when you have someone come in and argue
- 27:06Speaker 2: for for hamas terrorists. Charlie was vigorous and full throated
- 27:11Speaker 2: in disputing them, but he was not mean spirited about it.
- 27:16Speaker 2: He was not I hate you, he was not you're
- 27:18Speaker 2: the enemy. But he would engage in a way that said, look,
- 27:23Speaker 2: I understand why you're saying that. Here's why I believe
- 27:27Speaker 2: you're mistaken. And and I think Rika was right that
- 27:32Speaker 2: he was able to do so from a position of love.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Love does not mean agreement. Love does not mean saying
- 27:40Speaker 2: I accept the position you're advocating, even though I believe
- 27:43Speaker 2: it is harmful to our country. But love means not
- 27:46Speaker 2: treating your political adversary as the enemy to be destroyed,
- 27:55Speaker 2: but instead trying to respond with reason, with compassion, trying
- 28:02Speaker 2: to move, and even if you don't move, your immediate
- 28:05Speaker 2: interlocktur those who are observing it. Charlie was very good
- 28:09Speaker 2: at responding in a way that persuaded a lot of
- 28:11Speaker 2: other people. And I thought that back and forth Tuesday
- 28:14Speaker 2: between the President and Erica was really powerful.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I would encourage everyone that is listening right now,
- 28:20Speaker 1: if you did not get to see as specifically Erica's remarks,
- 28:25Speaker 1: go listen to them, and go listen to Donald Trump's
- 28:28Speaker 1: full remarks as we played one of the highlights here.
- 28:31Speaker 1: But there was a lot that was said and it
- 28:34Speaker 1: wasn't covered in the same way obviously that his memorial
- 28:38Speaker 1: was covered. I'm still in shock that we're a month
- 28:41Speaker 1: since we lost Charlie Kirk, but today was a very
- 28:45Speaker 1: special day. I'm so thankful that the President did this.
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm thankful that his parents were there, that they got
- 28:51Speaker 1: to see how many people he influenced, the most important
- 28:55Speaker 1: people in our government the President of the United States
- 28:57Speaker 1: of America, and just to be able to hear from
- 29:00Speaker 1: people like you centered and to love on them and
- 29:02Speaker 1: to let them know that their son's life mattered in
- 29:05Speaker 1: such a big way.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Amen. Amen, Amen, don't forget.
