- 0:00I'm thinking today of Jeremiah 23, 14. And it
- 0:04says, Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I
- 0:07have seen a horrible thing. That's the first
- 0:10part of it right there. The prophets were the
- 0:12people who were supposed to be speaking for God.
- 0:13And Jerusalem was supposed to be the holy city
- 0:16of God. And instead, God's saying through Jeremiah
- 0:18that he's seen a horrible thing. And then there's
- 0:21a colon. And now we're going to hear what that
- 0:23horrible thing is. And it says, The committing
- 0:25of adultery. intimacy outside of marriage relationship,
- 0:30and walking in falsehood, and that is lies, living
- 0:36lies, telling lies, and they strengthen the hands
- 0:39of evildoers, that's supporting those who are
- 0:41doing wrong things, so that no one has turned
- 0:44back from his wickedness. That's the result of
- 0:46all of that. All of them have become to me like
- 0:49Sodom and her inhabitants like Gomorrah. Sodom
- 0:53and Gomorrah were those cities that God outright
- 0:55destroyed because of their wickedness. So what
- 0:58was going on was the people who were supposed
- 0:59to be representing God weren't. They were encouraging
- 1:02other people to do wrong things and doing wrong
- 1:04things themselves. That's not going to be us.
- 1:07We know what's right. We can figure out what
- 1:10God wants from us. We can work together in the
- 1:13local church and listen to his word and study
- 1:16and grow and stand up for what's right. It's
- 1:19not a militant war, but it's a spiritual war.
- 1:22And we can stand up for what's right even in
- 1:24this day when so many people are pushing what's
- 1:26wrong. I don't want to be like Sodom and Gomorrah.
- 1:29Do you? No. I don't want God to say there's a
- 1:31horrible thing in me. Do you? No. We're going
- 1:34to stand up for what's right and do the best
- 1:35we can, loving others and working for God.
