  I'm thinking today of Jeremiah 23, 14. And it

  says, Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I

  have seen a horrible thing. That's the first
• 0:10
  part of it right there. The prophets were the
• 0:12
  people who were supposed to be speaking for God.
• 0:13
  And Jerusalem was supposed to be the holy city
• 0:16
  of God. And instead, God's saying through Jeremiah
• 0:18
  that he's seen a horrible thing. And then there's
• 0:21
  a colon. And now we're going to hear what that
• 0:23
  horrible thing is. And it says, The committing
• 0:25
  of adultery. intimacy outside of marriage relationship,
• 0:30
  and walking in falsehood, and that is lies, living
• 0:36
  lies, telling lies, and they strengthen the hands
• 0:39
  of evildoers, that's supporting those who are
• 0:41
  doing wrong things, so that no one has turned
• 0:44
  back from his wickedness. That's the result of
• 0:46
  all of that. All of them have become to me like
• 0:49
  Sodom and her inhabitants like Gomorrah. Sodom
• 0:53
  and Gomorrah were those cities that God outright
• 0:55
  destroyed because of their wickedness. So what
• 0:58
  was going on was the people who were supposed
• 0:59
  to be representing God weren't. They were encouraging
• 1:02
  other people to do wrong things and doing wrong
• 1:04
  things themselves. That's not going to be us.
• 1:07
  We know what's right. We can figure out what
• 1:10
  God wants from us. We can work together in the
• 1:13
  local church and listen to his word and study
• 1:16
  and grow and stand up for what's right. It's
• 1:19
  not a militant war, but it's a spiritual war.
• 1:22
  And we can stand up for what's right even in
• 1:24
  this day when so many people are pushing what's
• 1:26
  wrong. I don't want to be like Sodom and Gomorrah.
• 1:29
  Do you? No. I don't want God to say there's a
• 1:31
  horrible thing in me. Do you? No. We're going
• 1:34
  to stand up for what's right and do the best
• 1:35
  we can, loving others and working for God.
