- 0:00Speaker 1: I've heard some analysts say that Iran could have had
- 0:03Speaker 1: a functioning intercontinental missile to threaten the United States in
- 0:07Speaker 1: as few as six months.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Would you agree with that assessment.
- 0:10Speaker 1: If left unimpeded, yes, a Senator, they would have the
- 0:14Speaker 1: ability to range missiles to the continental US. It's one
- 0:19Speaker 1: of the reasons why degrading Iran's missile production capabilities that
- 0:24Speaker 1: is taking place right now in the Operation Epic Fury,
- 0:28Speaker 1: is so important to our national security.
- 0:30Speaker 3: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Good Thursday morning nights to have you with us on
- 0:36Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Updated, and we've got two.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Big stories for you.
- 0:40Speaker 4: First up, California forced to pay one point three million
- 0:43Speaker 4: in legal fees after an unconstituitial gun ad ban, yet
- 0:49Speaker 4: another costly mistake by the Governor Newsom. And in Washington,
- 0:53Speaker 4: it's day three of the Save Act fight. It's underway
- 0:56Speaker 4: and Republicans well, they're fighting harder than ever for election integrity.
- 1:02Speaker 4: But before we get to that, I want to take
- 1:04Speaker 4: a moment and ask you to help the people in Israel.
- 1:07Speaker 4: With my friends at the IFCJ working right now on
- 1:10Speaker 4: the ground for all those in need, having just come
- 1:13Speaker 4: back from Israel. I want to paint you a picture.
- 1:16Speaker 4: It's midnight, sirens are blearing and you have only seconds
- 1:20Speaker 4: to grab your child and run. Now imagine your elderly.
- 1:24Speaker 4: Your legs don't work like they used to. Getting downstairs
- 1:27Speaker 4: feels impossible, and after all of that, you end up
- 1:30Speaker 4: in a bomb shelter for hours, even days, because you
- 1:33Speaker 4: can't make the trek again. This is what's happening across
- 1:37Speaker 4: Israel as Operation Epic Fury continues. Children are being traumatized,
- 1:42Speaker 4: families are just exhausted, and homes have been destroyed. And
- 1:47Speaker 4: that's why the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is
- 1:50Speaker 4: there on the ground, bringing food, emergency equipment, care for
- 1:55Speaker 4: those children, and help for the elderly, and supplying the
- 1:59Speaker 4: bomb shelter and medical centers for critically needed essentials. If
- 2:03Speaker 4: you've ever wondered what it looks like to stand for
- 2:05Speaker 4: Israel and stand for good against evil, this is it.
- 2:09Speaker 4: And that's why I'm asking to now please act, give
- 2:12Speaker 4: forty five dollars right now to rush life saving essentials
- 2:16Speaker 4: to the vulnerables under fire. You can also call eight
- 2:20Speaker 4: eight eight for eight eight IFCJ. That's eight eight eight
- 2:25Speaker 4: for eight eight IFCJ, join me and give and make
- 2:29Speaker 4: a real difference online at IFCJ dot org.
- 2:33Speaker 2: That's IFCJ dot org.
- 2:36Speaker 4: It's the forty seven Morning Update and it starts right
- 2:39Speaker 4: now story number one. With so much happening in Iran
- 2:42Speaker 4: and also so much happening with fraud and abuse in America,
- 2:46Speaker 4: there have been some stories that have been overlooked that
- 2:48Speaker 4: need your attention. One of them was a big victory
- 2:53Speaker 4: for the Second Amendment in California. Now, this was a
- 2:58Speaker 4: case that no one was covering, and it should be
- 3:01Speaker 4: covered because on Tuesday, California agreed to a settlement with
- 3:07Speaker 4: a Second Amendment Foundation and the Firearms Policy Coalition as
- 3:11Speaker 4: well as many other plaintiffs. And they are now going
- 3:14Speaker 4: to pay the state of California over one point three
- 3:19Speaker 4: million to cover the plaintiffs' attorney fees alone. Now, this
- 3:24Speaker 4: all is from a settlement that came from a lawsuit
- 3:27Speaker 4: that was filed against California's Marketing Firearms to Miners law,
- 3:33Speaker 4: which crossed in the First Amendment territory by banning firearm advertisements.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Now, this is something.
- 3:40Speaker 4: That we were expected to see happen all over the
- 3:43Speaker 4: country in liberal states if California would have gotten away
- 3:46Speaker 4: with us. What they're trying to do is bankrupt and
- 3:49Speaker 4: shut down as many gun stores as possible, and it's
- 3:53Speaker 4: a way to ban firearms. And so they said that
- 3:55Speaker 4: you can't market your firearms store or your brio in
- 4:00Speaker 4: California because they said it was marketing to miners by default. Now,
- 4:05Speaker 4: the Ninth Circuit judge there by the last name Lee,
- 4:10Speaker 4: September twenty twenty three, majority opinion against the law. He wrote, quote,
- 4:15Speaker 4: the marketing firearms to minor law does not directly and
- 4:19Speaker 4: materially advanced California's substantial interest in reducing gun violence and
- 4:24Speaker 4: the unlawful use of firearms by miners. There was, in fact,
- 4:28Speaker 4: no evidence in the record that a miner in California
- 4:31Speaker 4: has ever unlawfully bought a gun let alone because of
- 4:35Speaker 4: an ad. Now translation, what they were saying as they
- 4:39Speaker 4: were trying to shut down the Second Amendment and this
- 4:42Speaker 4: and doing it through advertising, is they were saying, well,
- 4:45Speaker 4: you're marketing to kids.
- 4:46Speaker 2: And a great.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Example of this would be like what we saw with
- 4:49Speaker 4: alcohol and tobacco, when it was clear they were marketing
- 4:52Speaker 4: to kids you remember Joe Cammell with Camel's cigarettes and
- 4:57Speaker 4: then you could like get points out of the packs
- 4:59Speaker 4: and then I you know, merchandise. It was like Joe Cammell,
- 5:03Speaker 4: Like I remember having a Joe Cammel hat and I
- 5:06Speaker 4: was not old enough to smoke. I remember it being
- 5:08Speaker 4: like cool to have that kind of stuff. And they
- 5:11Speaker 4: were clearly marketing with cartoon characters like Joe Cammell was
- 5:15Speaker 4: a cartoon character. They were obviously marketing to kids. So
- 5:19Speaker 4: they got rid of that, but they didn't say you
- 5:21Speaker 4: couldn't advertise in general. Well, California was like, no, no,
- 5:24Speaker 4: you just can't advertise. If we say that your advertisements
- 5:27Speaker 4: could have could make kids want to buy it, right, like,
- 5:31Speaker 4: that's insane. And it was a way for them to
- 5:34Speaker 4: shut down the Second Amendment and basically get rid of
- 5:37Speaker 4: it in gun sales in essence in California. When the
- 5:41Speaker 4: judge looked at this, he said, look, there's this is absurd.
- 5:44Speaker 4: There is no evidence that a minor in California has
- 5:47Speaker 4: ever gone out and unlawfully bought a gun in a
- 5:49Speaker 4: gun store, and especially because of an ad they saw
- 5:53Speaker 4: for a gun manufacturer or a gun store.
- 5:56Speaker 2: We also added this.
- 5:58Speaker 4: California cannot straight jacket the First Amendment by on the
- 6:02Speaker 4: one hand, allowing miners to possess and use firearms and
- 6:05Speaker 4: then on the other hand, banning truthful advertisements about the
- 6:10Speaker 4: lawful use of a firearm. The First Amendment Policy Coalition
- 6:15Speaker 4: went in and they fought this hard. They fought it,
- 6:19Speaker 4: and everybody was talking about this, like, wow, there it's California.
- 6:21Speaker 2: They probably going to lose. Guess what. They announced the
- 6:24Speaker 2: settlement on X.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Writing this after losing twice at the Ninth Circuit, you
- 6:29Speaker 4: know they're very liberal.
- 6:29Speaker 2: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is very very liberal.
- 6:33Speaker 4: California has agreed that it's minor firearm advertising ban violates
- 6:39Speaker 4: the First Amendment and they will pay the plaintiffs the
- 6:42Speaker 4: one million, three hundred and eighty one thousand, seven forty
- 6:46Speaker 4: nine dollars and seventy two cents for the attorney's fees.
- 6:50Speaker 4: The Second Amendment Foundation also posted this about the Governor
- 6:54Speaker 4: Gavin Newsom, saying, quote, Gavin Newsom passed a law to
- 6:57Speaker 4: attack the First Amendment because he would mad about a
- 7:01Speaker 4: twenty two long rifle that was meant for junior shooters.
- 7:06Speaker 4: That little stunt has cost California taxpayers over a million dollars,
- 7:11Speaker 4: not including whatever California Department of Justice spent on their
- 7:15Speaker 4: own lawyers, three hundred and fifty thousand to saf five
- 7:19Speaker 4: hundred and fifty thousand to CRPA coalition of playmiffs in
- 7:23Speaker 4: the same lawsuit, and another four hundred and eighty thousand
- 7:27Speaker 4: to the Safari Club International case on the same issues.
- 7:30Speaker 4: So this all stem from Gavenwsom being angry that their
- 7:35Speaker 4: parents out there that could buy a twenty two rifle
- 7:38Speaker 4: that is meant for junior shooters.
- 7:39Speaker 2: By the way, I have one for all three of
- 7:43Speaker 2: my kids.
- 7:43Speaker 4: If I'm not mistaken, and I got a twenty two
- 7:46Speaker 4: rifle when I was a kid. It's made smaller for
- 7:48Speaker 4: you as a kid. Now does that mean I own
- 7:50Speaker 4: the gun? Yes, I own it for my kids. My
- 7:52Speaker 4: kids don't own that gun. Is it their present of courses?
- 7:55Speaker 4: Is it in my possession?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yes? Is in my my Is it locked up in
- 7:59Speaker 2: my say? Yes?
- 8:00Speaker 4: Like if you're a saying human being, you understand kids guns.
- 8:04Speaker 4: By the way, a four to ten shotgun that my
- 8:07Speaker 4: kid has that that is mine. It's for him to
- 8:09Speaker 4: use when we go hunting. It is They're not advertising
- 8:13Speaker 4: or marketing to him to go by by himself. And
- 8:16Speaker 4: everyone knows this like this is normal, it's not sane.
- 8:19Speaker 4: And what Gavin Newsom did is he decided to lose
- 8:22Speaker 4: his every loving mind and said, oh, you're marketing to
- 8:25Speaker 4: these kids, and you're and you're advertising these kids, and
- 8:29Speaker 4: so we're going to ban it so that you can't
- 8:30Speaker 4: advertise at all in the state of California. Well that
- 8:35Speaker 4: is now back fired massively. It took deep pockets, by
- 8:39Speaker 4: the way by these groups to be able to fight this.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Thank goodness they did.
- 8:43Speaker 4: And it's also I think sending a very clear message
- 8:45Speaker 4: to any other state in the country that's that's thinking
- 8:47Speaker 4: about doing the same thing the California did. In California
- 8:49Speaker 4: was a test case that you will lose and this
- 8:52Speaker 4: will be a failure. So this is one of those stories.
- 8:56Speaker 4: I say, God bless America and God bless those that
- 8:59Speaker 4: have not been getting any media attention that actually did this.
- 9:02Speaker 4: Like this is incredible, all right, and I love that
- 9:06Speaker 4: there are people that are brave enough to fight these
- 9:08Speaker 4: wars the way that they just did. Gavin Newsom getting
- 9:11Speaker 4: slapped on the hand hard. This is a victory for
- 9:15Speaker 4: the second Amendment. It's also a victory for First Amendment
- 9:18Speaker 4: right of free speech as well, and I wanted you
- 9:20Speaker 4: to know about it.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Now. Story number two, Day.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Two has already happened of the save AC fight in
- 9:26Speaker 4: the United States Senate, And make no mistake about it,
- 9:29Speaker 4: it's exactly the fight President Donald Trump wanted. After forcing
- 9:34Speaker 4: the bill into the Senate floor, Republicans have now moved
- 9:37Speaker 4: into full debate mode and that alone is a major victory.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Why you may ask, well, because for the first time
- 9:44Speaker 4: in a long time, election integrity is not being whispered about.
- 9:49Speaker 4: It's being debated front and center on the Senate floor,
- 9:53Speaker 4: and it is heated. And today the pressure turned up dramatically.
- 9:58Speaker 4: President Trump is not sitting on this sidelines either. He
- 10:01Speaker 4: is leading this charge. He made it crystal clear to
- 10:05Speaker 4: Republicans in Washington, this is our defining moment. This is
- 10:09Speaker 4: not just another bill, another issue, another thing that you
- 10:13Speaker 4: should talk about and move on from. The President made
- 10:17Speaker 4: it clear saying this is about the future of American elections. Now,
- 10:22Speaker 4: behind the scenes, we also know the White House is
- 10:24Speaker 4: going into overdrive. In fact, President Trump himself is working
- 10:28Speaker 4: the phones, talking to lawmakers and making it known that
- 10:32Speaker 4: this legislation is his first priority.
- 10:36Speaker 2: It's not optional. As how I was.
- 10:38Speaker 4: Described by one at the White House who told me,
- 10:40Speaker 4: the President is willing to sit down with any Republican
- 10:43Speaker 4: he needs to to explain to them exactly how important
- 10:47Speaker 4: this moment is.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Now.
- 10:49Speaker 4: The message coming from the White House is simple and
- 10:51Speaker 4: also powerful. Only American citizens should decide American elections.
- 10:58Speaker 2: It's not a radical idea at all.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And in fact, the polling numbers show that overwhelmingly the
- 11:03Speaker 4: majority of Americans, whether you're Republican, Democrat, or independent, support
- 11:08Speaker 4: that exact language that the President use saying only American
- 11:12Speaker 4: citizens should decide American elections. And Republicans they're finally stepping
- 11:19Speaker 4: up on day two. GOP leaders are not backing down,
- 11:23Speaker 4: thank goodness. They're even going on offense, and they're using
- 11:27Speaker 4: this debate to draw one of the clearest contrasts we've
- 11:29Speaker 4: seen in years between the two parties. Republicans are saying,
- 11:34Speaker 4: this is common sense, requiring proof of citizenship and requiring
- 11:39Speaker 4: voter ID to protect the integrity of.
- 11:42Speaker 2: The ballot box. That's it.
- 11:44Speaker 4: The clearest talking points we've seen on an issue in
- 11:47Speaker 4: a very long time. And what's happening today is just
- 11:50Speaker 4: as important politically as it is legislatively. Republicans are now
- 11:55Speaker 4: forcing every Democrat in Washington to take a position, all
- 12:00Speaker 4: on the record in front of the American people now.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Because the Republicans are unified and pushing forward. You guessed it,
- 12:08Speaker 4: Democrats are doing the exact same thing. They're lining up
- 12:12Speaker 4: in total opposition. Every single Democrat is digging in trying
- 12:17Speaker 4: to block this bill, refusing to support these voter integrity
- 12:21Speaker 4: measures altogether. And Republicans are making sure that voters see
- 12:26Speaker 4: that contrast loud and clear going into the midterms, even
- 12:30Speaker 4: before a final vote, Republicans have already achieved something significant.
- 12:35Speaker 4: They've made election integrity one of the biggest issues in
- 12:37Speaker 4: the country again. They've taken it out of the shadows
- 12:41Speaker 4: and put it right at the center of the national
- 12:43Speaker 4: conversation thanks to President Trump. And that's not by accident.
- 12:48Speaker 4: This was President Trump's strategy all along. That's about defining
- 12:52Speaker 4: the future of our elections. It's also about defining the
- 12:56Speaker 4: next election. And tonight, as three comes at us, the
- 13:01Speaker 4: reality is clear. President Trump has turned the Save Act
- 13:05Speaker 4: into a national showdown. Republicans finally are unified. They're even
- 13:11Speaker 4: energized on the four of the Senate and finally on offense,
- 13:15Speaker 4: and Democrats are being forced to defend their impossible position
- 13:21Speaker 4: in front of the American people that they want people
- 13:24Speaker 4: from outside the country who are not American citizens to
- 13:27Speaker 4: vote in our elections.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Now.
- 13:30Speaker 4: To be clear, this fight is far from over. In fact,
- 13:34Speaker 4: it's just getting started. For one thing that is already clear,
- 13:38Speaker 4: the battle over election integrity is now front and center
- 13:41Speaker 4: in America and it's not going away anytime soon.
