  Proverbs chapter 23, verse 5. It says, when you

  set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly

  makes itself wings, like an eagle that flies

  toward the heavens. Well, this verse is definitely

  talking about money, but also it's talking about

  focus. It's about what you give your attention

  to, where you put your eyes. And so it seems

  it's saying that if you put your eyes a lot on

  something, you could say any blessing, not just
• 0:24
  money. If you put your eyes and focus your eyes
• 0:26
  on that thing, if you want more money, you want
• 0:28
  more better relations, or you want people to
• 0:30
  behave a certain way or want something to go
• 0:32
  on in your job, whatever. And as that thing comes,
• 0:34
  you're very focused on it. Then this verse is
• 0:37
  basically saying the tendency of it is to take
• 0:39
  flight and to be gone. When it comes to money,
• 0:41
  money is always kind of coming or going. The
• 0:44
  state of how much money we have is changing on
• 0:46
  a fairly regular basis. The resources that we
• 0:49
  receive from God, the blessings that we receive
• 0:51
  from God, have a pretty select purpose. They
• 0:53
  are that we might share with others as God leads,
• 0:57
  that we might glorify God. for the receiving
• 0:59
  and use those blessings to build our relationship

  with him to the best of our ability, that we
• 1:04
  might always look back to the giver. The tendency
• 1:07
  might be to get focused on the blessing, turn
• 1:09
  it into an idol, and it's just not meant to be.

  We don't worship things, good, bad, ugly, whatever.

  If there's a lot of it, if there isn't, if it
• 1:17
  seems powerful, if it doesn't, if it seems like
• 1:19
  you need it, if it seems like you don't, whatever.

  We don't worship those things. They are literally
• 1:23
  worth nothing to us compared to the God of heaven
• 1:26
  who gives us all that we desire if our hearts
• 1:29
  are in line with his desire for us. Praise the
• 1:32
  Lord today.
