- 2:35Speaker 1: one too, because it's already been picked up for the
- 2:37Speaker 1: other season. Cassie Davis pattern has worked extensively over the
- 2:41Speaker 1: years with Tyler perryl on his stage plays, TV shows
- 2:44Speaker 1: and movie he She made a lot of money with
- 2:46Speaker 1: Medill Mdea is really her middle name. She also attended
- 2:50Speaker 1: uh Spellman College is Atlanta, Georgia and major in music.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Her big acting break was her role in Spike Lee's
- 2:56Speaker 1: film School Days, Please Welcome. When I knew it back

- 3:04Speaker 1: So from Tyler Perris, hustle pain my good friend, Cassie
- 3:08Speaker 1: Davis Patton, how you doing better? Introduced me do a

- 3:21Speaker 1: you did what you know I'm gonna do. Thank you?
- 3:24Speaker 1: You think you know you you still got it. I
- 3:27Speaker 1: appreciate it. You know the amazing thing that you wanted
- 3:30Speaker 1: one you when we started calling now girl, you said
- 3:34Speaker 1: one one. It took me all of your one baby
- 3:38Speaker 1: one and one Attorney Anderson. Come on, y'all, you guys
- 3:43Speaker 1: were the You guys were a mad team of brilliant
- 3:49Speaker 1: black men that knew what y'all wanted to do and
- 3:54Speaker 1: did it. Steve you won home Attorney and send um
- 4:02Speaker 1: James Boomerang. You guys were an awesome team, and y'all
- 4:07Speaker 1: taught me so much. I was. I was at the
- 4:10Speaker 1: house and um, you guys were in the field and
- 4:13Speaker 1: you are working. Your ethics were good, and um you
- 4:17Speaker 1: were suited all the time. Uh, you guys would come
- 4:20Speaker 1: back to the house and you guys would discuss strategies
- 4:23Speaker 1: and I would eavesdrop, and UM, I learned and took notes,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and um, I do owe a lot of my success
- 4:33Speaker 1: to the wisdom that you guys im pardoned in me
- 4:37Speaker 1: when you didn't even know I was missing, and you
- 4:39Speaker 1: didn't even know I care, But um, I just appreciated
- 4:43Speaker 1: everything that you guys came back home and discussed and
- 4:48Speaker 1: made happy. You know, it wasn't just like you were
- 4:50Speaker 1: blowing smoke signals you. There was actually fire and there
- 4:56Speaker 1: was a product that you guys um put together and
- 4:59Speaker 1: that was me and the boys, and that was It
- 5:02Speaker 1: was just so much that you all did. You know,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you guys were the kings of comedy before the Kings
- 5:07Speaker 1: of comedy came out. Absolutely absolutely no. Cassi talking to
- 5:10Speaker 1: Cassie David, She's just start Tyler Perris hals of pain.
- 5:13Speaker 1: That's one of the things she's a star because she
- 5:15Speaker 1: really is a breed talent. And then she just talked
- 5:18Speaker 1: about our history. The person she brought up one and
- 5:20Speaker 1: one that's one hole, just a little little walk down
- 5:23Speaker 1: history lane. He was Steve's manager before I became his manager,
- 5:26Speaker 1: and he was all our best friend and we lost
- 5:29Speaker 1: him to Sakodosius. The same illness that took Bernie Mack,
- 5:32Speaker 1: which is ironic that two people in Steve Harvey's life
- 5:35Speaker 1: that he was close to the loss to the same
- 5:36Speaker 1: heart element and uh and and that that allowed me
- 5:40Speaker 1: to come into his life. And Ricky Anderson was the attorney.
- 5:43Speaker 1: He's still out the attorney in our lives today after
- 5:46Speaker 1: all these years of African American attorney. That's what she
- 5:49Speaker 1: was talking about. Black men who was breaking ground were
- 5:53Speaker 1: breaking ground because the rules were different back in nineteen
- 5:56Speaker 1: two five. That's exactly right and exactly right. And there
- 6:03Speaker 1: was there was a hustle that you guys came out
- 6:06Speaker 1: with and it was just like everybody get somebody. That's
- 6:09Speaker 1: that's what we said in high school. Everybody gets somebody,
- 6:12Speaker 1: don't let them shoot. And that is what you all did.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You all. Steve was in charge of this, one was
- 6:18Speaker 1: in charge of this attorney and so handled this and
- 6:21Speaker 1: Rashan you really uh gatheredized a whole lot of things
- 6:26Speaker 1: you were caring to to be briefcase, you know, thank
- 6:31Speaker 1: you for that compliment, Cassie. But the thing about our relationship,
- 6:34Speaker 1: you know, is that I always saw a talented person
- 6:38Speaker 1: and but you were not doing anything with your career
- 6:40Speaker 1: at the time when I came into your life. But
- 6:43Speaker 1: I was why, uh, you know what, I got my
- 6:50Speaker 1: feelings hurt. I was up for a part on Hanging
- 6:54Speaker 1: with Mr Cooper, and I thought I was gonna be
- 6:58Speaker 1: on that show, and I was doing storyboards, I was,
- 7:03Speaker 1: you know, going into meetings with the executives, and I
- 7:07Speaker 1: I learned that I did not get the part when
- 7:09Speaker 1: the show aired, and it hurt my feelings so bad.
- 7:13Speaker 1: I just didn't understand the rejection of the business. I
- 7:18Speaker 1: thought they really liked what they saw and I thought
- 7:20Speaker 1: they meant what they said, and um, it became just
- 7:25Speaker 1: one line after another that's one of Chip Fields songs
- 7:30Speaker 1: and uh and uh. So I just thought that it
- 7:35Speaker 1: would probably be best for me to pull out and
- 7:38Speaker 1: not pursue this career because you know, I could have
- 7:42Speaker 1: had anger issues and I did not want to you know,
- 7:46Speaker 1: take my anger out on someone. So I just stopped
- 7:50Speaker 1: and started working with young people at Wendy School. Um
- 7:55Speaker 1: and um, and I just I just fell in love
- 7:58Speaker 1: with you know what the aren't really could for the
- 8:02Speaker 1: lives of those young people. And then Mr Perry, oh
- 8:05Speaker 1: my god, he saw me doing a favor for someone
- 8:09Speaker 1: and asked me to come and be a part of
- 8:11Speaker 1: his empire, and I was like, I don't have no
- 8:14Speaker 1: time but that y'all say one thing, y'all do another thing.
- 8:17Speaker 1: So just leave me alone because I really don't want
- 8:20Speaker 1: to have to catch the case. Don't lie. Just if
- 8:24Speaker 1: you're gonna do it, do it. And if you're not,
- 8:26Speaker 1: then don't. And I must say that man has kept
- 8:29Speaker 1: his word. You guys kept your word. But I just
- 8:33Speaker 1: got my feelings hurt. I was so bruised by being rejected,
- 8:38Speaker 1: and I just didn't understand the rejection part of the pursuit.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And you know, you just important people here that Cassie Davis,
- 8:45Speaker 1: because of Cassie Davis's Pattonna, I'm gonna talk different periods.
- 8:49Speaker 1: That was Cassie David's back then. And because Hollywood is
- 8:53Speaker 1: about rejection and a lot of people aren't ready for that.
- 8:56Speaker 1: They think that they can ride with the best look.
- 8:58Speaker 1: They want some awards local and they get there and
- 9:01Speaker 1: they'll walk you through that door and they'll say come
- 9:04Speaker 1: back five fifteen times and then say sorry. Or someone
- 9:08Speaker 1: on your cage didn't even say sorry. No, they didn't
- 9:10Speaker 1: even say sorry. I didn't even I was at home waiting.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I had already gone and picked out a home in
- 9:16Speaker 1: um To Luca Lake in Los Angeles. I was just like, oh, yes,
- 9:20Speaker 1: when they sent me my money, I can buy this house.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I was with a realtor and I was at home
- 9:26Speaker 1: one evening and I saw the advertisement come up or
- 9:29Speaker 1: the advertisement and you guys called it back, But then
- 9:32Speaker 1: it was an advertisement and it was Um, that brilliant
- 9:36Speaker 1: actress nel Carter, and I couldn't be mad. You know,
- 9:41Speaker 1: if you're gonna lose, why not lose to her? But
- 9:44Speaker 1: you know, but I it just hurt me so bad. Um,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I just said, I think I'd better just sit out
- 9:52Speaker 1: and just wait, and that's what I did. And then
- 9:58Speaker 1: what was proven is if it's meant to be for you,
- 10:01Speaker 1: then it's going to be. And it has been a
- 10:04Speaker 1: great ride for me, even the hurt. Um. You know,
- 10:08Speaker 1: I can really appreciate all of this choy because I
- 10:12Speaker 1: do understand what the herd can feel like. So it's
- 10:18Speaker 1: finally here the season of celebration. And no matter how
- 10:22Speaker 1: you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for
- 10:25Speaker 1: Reis Magos or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going to

- 11:44Speaker 1: roker here as a guy with his own catchphrase. I
- 11:47Speaker 1: appreciate that Smokey's only said only you can prevent wildfires,
- 11:51Speaker 1: but I'm filling it because there's a lot more to report,
- 11:55Speaker 1: like when they're parched or windy conditions out there. You
- 11:58Speaker 1: gotta be extra careful with things like burning yard wage.
- 12:01Speaker 1: After all, wildfires can start anywhere, even in your neck
- 12:05Speaker 1: of the woods. Go to Smokey Bear dot com to
- 12:07Speaker 1: learn more about wildfire prevention brought to you by the U. S.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Forest Service, your state Forrester, and the AD Council. It
- 12:14Speaker 1: really funny you say that casting because you know Steve
- 12:16Speaker 1: Harvey Star always saying because I didn't know you were
- 12:18Speaker 1: that talented whenever, you know, I just knew you were
- 12:21Speaker 1: very nice. He was always punctual, he was always a beat,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and and then teach it. You know she's talented, right,
- 12:26Speaker 1: What do you mean you said, that girl right there
- 12:28Speaker 1: can sing. I go Cassie, Cassie Gazie. She never showed
- 12:32Speaker 1: me that you were just you had just like just
- 12:34Speaker 1: just disconnected. You hadn't even all the talent that God
- 12:38Speaker 1: gave you. You just like shoved it in a box
- 12:40Speaker 1: and say I'm done. How did you get out of
- 12:42Speaker 1: that box. How did you get out of that moment
- 12:45Speaker 1: to say, you know something, it's time before Tyler Perry
- 12:47Speaker 1: has said, hey, I want to bring you on board.
- 12:50Speaker 1: What brought you out of that cocoon? God? You know,
- 12:56Speaker 1: when I realized that the talent was not mine to
- 12:59Speaker 1: bury and was not mine too shove in a box,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and that um, it was his to showcase to his people,
- 13:06Speaker 1: and it was something that he would use me to
- 13:09Speaker 1: do and free some people and bring some joy to
- 13:13Speaker 1: some people and and help some people. So the many
- 13:15Speaker 1: stories that I now hear um about how the messages
- 13:21Speaker 1: from House of Pain has helped somebody's family or somebody's
- 13:25Speaker 1: grandmother or you know. I have a friend in Holly
- 13:28Speaker 1: Springs right now. She watches all of Tyler Parris, Tyler
- 13:31Speaker 1: Parris movies and then the sitcoms, and um, it just
- 13:36Speaker 1: blesses her that I'm a part of it. But it
- 13:39Speaker 1: was it was God that that made me do it.
- 13:42Speaker 1: But the vehicle really, really really was Chip Fields. And
- 13:47Speaker 1: when I met Chip Fields and she wanted me to
- 13:50Speaker 1: be in a play, it was like, are you gonna
- 13:54Speaker 1: do what you say you can do? And she did?
- 13:57Speaker 1: And after that I just began to trust her, and
- 13:59Speaker 1: then I came into one of love and I met
- 14:02Speaker 1: you guys, and um, and I just said, you know what,
- 14:05Speaker 1: there are some good people here. So rejection is a
- 14:08Speaker 1: part of it. But I just did not know. I
- 14:10Speaker 1: didn't like being rejected. Who who likes caring ject? And
- 14:13Speaker 1: so I did not understand it. And I, uh, you know,
- 14:18Speaker 1: in my innocence, I made plans for some money that
- 14:21Speaker 1: I did not have. So that has taught me a
- 14:24Speaker 1: lesson that you can't spend what you don't have. And um,
- 14:28Speaker 1: and there's always research that we need to do, and
- 14:31Speaker 1: I did not do by research. I was just taking
- 14:34Speaker 1: people at their faith value and um, and I still
- 14:39Speaker 1: do it, but I I have to listen for those
- 14:42Speaker 1: keywords that that I could have known that I was
- 14:47Speaker 1: not being chosen for that part. But I just did
- 14:49Speaker 1: not understand the lingo and I did not do my research.
- 14:53Speaker 1: No problem. I did not have wise counsel, but did
- 14:56Speaker 1: not I didn't have any counsel really at all. And
- 15:00Speaker 1: so um, but now I have wise counsel. That's right,
- 15:05Speaker 1: that's right. Here, here's the beauty because because Cashier just
- 15:08Speaker 1: throw our names like she wondered with Karen Robertson like
- 15:11Speaker 1: when you Karen Robinson was was the principal on Steve
- 15:14Speaker 1: Harvey's sitcom, and of course she's wanted to do the
- 15:17Speaker 1: Game and many other great series. Chip Feels is Kim
- 15:21Speaker 1: Field's mother. One of the emotions of those explaining absolutely,
- 15:27Speaker 1: all these landmarks now, don't worry, I got your back.
- 15:30Speaker 1: That's what they are, the legends, all of them. Absolutely, Steve,
- 15:38Speaker 1: are you kidding today? I mean, you guys went the hair.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I saw you. I saw you guys stumbling. I saw you.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Not know anything with Steve care He'll tell you. He
- 15:50Speaker 1: came to house and we were just I was like,
- 15:52Speaker 1: he got a job. He can't even read, tell you.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I was just like what I was like, And he
- 16:02Speaker 1: was just like he was reading this group. He was saying, Steve,
- 16:05Speaker 1: shits down, said, he's tweeting the direction. What is this?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Listen now, He's reading directions and everything and giving directions,
- 16:18Speaker 1: reading directions and giving directions, telling people what you doing directions.
- 16:22Speaker 1: He is a direction. He is one to follow. Yes,

- 17:57Speaker 1: I when I look at the beauty of you, you know,
- 17:59Speaker 1: and I want to go back to uh your Spellman days,
- 18:01Speaker 1: because I really always when I read a graduate of Spellman,
- 18:04Speaker 1: I gotta HBCU in general. I got to be able
- 18:08Speaker 1: to hear that. Let that story be from anoun store
- 18:10Speaker 1: my show, talk about Spellman while you went, and the
- 18:13Speaker 1: experience and the greatness you've achieved by being a graduate
- 18:16Speaker 1: of Spellman. Oh my god, Rashawn. I heard about Spellman
- 18:21Speaker 1: College in nineteen eighty three, and there was a young lady,
- 18:26Speaker 1: Patricia Johnson, who was the recruiter for Spellman College and
- 18:31Speaker 1: her dad and lived right below by my dad's house
- 18:34Speaker 1: in Holly Springs, Mississippi, Reverend Graham, and he called his daughter.
- 18:38Speaker 1: He said, Hey, look, there's a girl over here that
- 18:41Speaker 1: I want to come to Spellman her dad and I'm
- 18:44Speaker 1: not gonna have a whole lot of money, so just
- 18:46Speaker 1: find her some money and uh come over here, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: I need you all to recruit her and talk to
- 18:50Speaker 1: her daddy, and she did. She came and um, she
- 18:55Speaker 1: spoke with my dad and assured him that I would
- 18:59Speaker 1: matriculate and I would be okay, and I would be safe,
- 19:02Speaker 1: and and and it happened. And my dad took me
- 19:05Speaker 1: down to Spelling College in nineteen eighty four and I
- 19:09Speaker 1: graduated in two thousand nine. I was a senior for
- 19:12Speaker 1: twenty one years. I got down to Atlanta and last
- 19:16Speaker 1: my mind, I got into the city with all these
- 19:19Speaker 1: lights and got over there in that a youth center
- 19:22Speaker 1: on fairst S and the party became real. And then
- 19:27Speaker 1: I fell in love with the theater company to Monday
- 19:29Speaker 1: Productions in the city, and I began to work with them.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And I didn't really care about being a music major anymore.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I didn't really care about singing UM classical music. I
- 19:39Speaker 1: thought I was going to be a gospel singer. And
- 19:41Speaker 1: when I got to Spellman, they wanted us to do
- 19:44Speaker 1: UM a classical format and the method for really learning
- 19:49Speaker 1: and studying music. And when I got I was just like, what,
- 19:54Speaker 1: I don't want to sing an aria. I want to
- 19:56Speaker 1: sing to God be the glore and my tribute. You know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: my dad come home. They want to hear English, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: don't want to be singing, oh to tell you, and
- 20:04Speaker 1: so just country I didn't really know, and uh, and
- 20:09Speaker 1: so I got mad. I had one hour to graduate,
- 20:12Speaker 1: and I left. Chip Fills came through and she was
- 20:15Speaker 1: going out in a play with Nicky Whinings and and um,
- 20:18Speaker 1: and so I got in that play in nine and
- 20:23Speaker 1: and I left Atlanta with that one hour to graduate.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I called my dad and them three days before graduation
- 20:30Speaker 1: to tell them that I would not be graduating, and um,
- 20:34Speaker 1: they were just undone. My dad was like, you're living
- 20:38Speaker 1: in a bubble. Now you're going out to chase a
- 20:40Speaker 1: dream and you never do you know, actors come a
- 20:43Speaker 1: dime a dozen. You're never gonna be on a show.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Nobody knows you'll get out of here. You're not gonna
- 20:50Speaker 1: And the more he said you're not, the more I said,
- 20:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna show you. I'm gonna prove it to you.
- 20:55Speaker 1: I know that this is what I need to do.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I want to do it. They won't let me sing
- 20:59Speaker 1: for God. And you know our model a Spellman was
- 21:03Speaker 1: our whole school for Christ. I was like our whole
- 21:06Speaker 1: school for Christ. And you won't let me do a
- 21:08Speaker 1: gospel song on my senior recital. We'll forget it. I
- 21:11Speaker 1: don't want to degree, and I was. I got out
- 21:16Speaker 1: to California, I went out to a visit hip for
- 21:18Speaker 1: two weeks. I left fourteen years later. And in that
- 21:24Speaker 1: fourteen years, you know, I stummed up to be too
- 21:29Speaker 1: years to seven years, you know, like so it was
- 21:34Speaker 1: to the first seven years I was learning one thing.
- 21:37Speaker 1: The second seven years I learned another thing. And um
- 21:42Speaker 1: and and it was it was completion twice for me. Um.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Seven is usually the number of completions. So I had
- 21:50Speaker 1: to run my course twice to get out of l A.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And when I left, I came back to Atlanta doing
- 21:55Speaker 1: House of Pain with Mr Perry and UM and I
- 22:00Speaker 1: went back to Spellman College and I marched and walked. Uh.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I got that degree in two thousand and eight December,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and I marched in two thousand nine. And I am
- 22:11Speaker 1: a proud Spellman moment and um And it was not
- 22:17Speaker 1: just what I learned on the inside of the gates
- 22:20Speaker 1: that make me the woman that I am today, But
- 22:23Speaker 1: it was what they taught me on the inside that
- 22:25Speaker 1: I applied on the outside of the gates, UM that
- 22:30Speaker 1: makes me an even more proud moment. And um, and
- 22:35Speaker 1: it was those fourteen years of labor out there in
- 22:39Speaker 1: l A that prepares me for today. You know when um,
- 22:43Speaker 1: you know, I don't even like doing interviews because it
- 22:46Speaker 1: just seems like, um, it's so much you want me
- 22:48Speaker 1: to cram into twenty minutes when um, you know we're
- 22:54Speaker 1: talking about ninety one two twenty one? Are you kidding me?
- 23:01Speaker 1: In a pandemic? It's so many jewels and elements to
- 23:06Speaker 1: get a life and to describing it and to telling
- 23:10Speaker 1: you how important everything is. Money is important, faith is important, Uh,
- 23:18Speaker 1: rejection is important, health is important, Wisdom is important. Uh,
- 23:23Speaker 1: and wisdom is the principal thing. Um, So at all
- 23:26Speaker 1: I get you need to get wisdom, you need to
- 23:28Speaker 1: get an understanding. But wisdom is the principal thing. You know.
- 23:33Speaker 1: It's just a um. You know when you when you
- 23:36Speaker 1: get mature, and you know, I left Spelman College. I
- 23:39Speaker 1: didn't want on, I didn't walk degree. Are you kidding me?
- 23:42Speaker 1: All that money, my folks sacrifice, I had to do it,
- 23:46Speaker 1: and I did, and and it just feels so good
- 23:49Speaker 1: to accomplish. You know, when I was in l A
- 23:52Speaker 1: and I was saying, I'm a spelling to night. But
- 23:54Speaker 1: well I had a graduated yet, but I am a
- 23:56Speaker 1: spell to night. I met I have want how to graduate.
- 23:59Speaker 1: You know, that's not really to brag about until you
- 24:02Speaker 1: can say I did it. I went back, I got
- 24:05Speaker 1: my degree, and I am a spell tonight. And it's
- 24:10Speaker 1: not just spelling from college, because you know, I'm more
- 24:13Speaker 1: of a bearcat at Russ College in a Holly Springs,
- 24:16Speaker 1: mississiffic that I am a jaguar as Spellment College. I
- 24:20Speaker 1: know more about growing up on Russ College's campus than
- 24:24Speaker 1: I do of how growing up on Spellinger's campus. But
- 24:28Speaker 1: you know, I had those institutions and of higher education,
- 24:33Speaker 1: and I just believed in doing better and doing more
- 24:37Speaker 1: and being exposed to more. And you know, now making
- 24:42Speaker 1: a way for my siblings or my my my nieces
- 24:47Speaker 1: and nephews to have you know, their dreams come to fruition,
- 24:51Speaker 1: you know. So now I'm passing the torch if you will,
- 24:54Speaker 1: well you look fantastic at Cassie Davis. We're talking to
- 24:56Speaker 1: Catchy Davis Patton. Thank you a co star, Tyler Perry.
- 25:00Speaker 1: This House of Pain is the number one show on
- 25:02Speaker 1: African American homes in is gonna come back this month.
- 25:06Speaker 1: It's the eighth season of the show. Let's talk about fame.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Let's talk about fame and you, Cassie, because I know
- 25:12Speaker 1: you humble, you know, you know, you know not you
- 25:14Speaker 1: not want to want to get recognized in the grocery store.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You uh you, I mean you can't. On the Steve
- 25:20Speaker 1: Harvey Morning Show, you played nephew Tommy's mama and girl
- 25:23Speaker 1: and say that. I go, oh, I'm not gonna say that.
- 25:27Speaker 1: It's just it's still doing that. That was a secret.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And you guys that baby all my money, Okay, I
- 25:35Speaker 1: called Steve, are the one of the richest man's and
- 25:37Speaker 1: the men in the world. We're gonna pay you all
- 25:39Speaker 1: your money. Now, would you being famous Tyler's Paris House
- 25:43Speaker 1: of Fame because you're famous in Medea movies? How did
- 25:45Speaker 1: you deal with fame? How did you deal with that? Well,
- 25:51Speaker 1: you know what, um Rishan, I really don't know. I
- 25:54Speaker 1: really don't know if I deal with it. You know,
- 25:57Speaker 1: I just like people. And so when I meet them
- 26:01Speaker 1: out anywhere and they are talking about Ella, or they're
- 26:05Speaker 1: talking about Bam, or they're talking about Tyler Pier, I
- 26:09Speaker 1: welcome what they have to say, you know, I feel
- 26:13Speaker 1: like what they have seen um is in their house.
- 26:16Speaker 1: It becomes very personal to them, and the messages I
- 26:20Speaker 1: think hit home with their lives. And so some people
- 26:24Speaker 1: are very nice when they approach you. And then there
- 26:26Speaker 1: are some people who, uh, who tripped And then you
- 26:30Speaker 1: know you have to say, hey, wait, man, that's a character.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Don't sleep now, I don't don't don't don't do that.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Don't you know I'm not always on TV. I'm not
- 26:39Speaker 1: always active, not always a script. So don't get slapped.
- 26:44Speaker 1: But you know, but it is so wonderful to experience
- 26:49Speaker 1: these things because these people are so wonderful. Now, you know,
- 26:55Speaker 1: the when when you meant so, I don't know. I
- 26:57Speaker 1: don't know that I'm handling it properly. I don't know.
- 27:00Speaker 1: There's two types of fame for you because you you know,
- 27:02Speaker 1: you you blew up in his plays Tyler Perrish plays,
- 27:05Speaker 1: and then the TV show and then the movies which
- 27:09Speaker 1: became international which also put you on the big screen,
- 27:13Speaker 1: the Medea movies. That what you feel is mostly impactful
- 27:18Speaker 1: in your career, the plays, the MDEA movies, or the
- 27:21Speaker 1: TV show impactful. I would probably have to say, um,
- 27:30Speaker 1: the movies. UM, well, I probably would have to say
- 27:35Speaker 1: the TV show. Um. The thing I enjoyed the most,
- 27:39Speaker 1: I would have to say is the play or the plays,
- 27:43Speaker 1: you know, just to get that instant gratification and to
- 27:46Speaker 1: be their lives in a in a building with Shawn
- 27:49Speaker 1: and I always describe it like I'm in a building
- 27:52Speaker 1: with ten thousand people and they don't know each other,
- 27:57Speaker 1: but they're all laughing at the same time, the all
- 28:00Speaker 1: crying at the same time. And then I'm sitting next
- 28:03Speaker 1: to a mastermind Tyler Perry as my dear, and he
- 28:08Speaker 1: just orchestrates direct. If there's something on the stage that
- 28:12Speaker 1: goes wrong, he can handle it. If there is a
- 28:15Speaker 1: fight in the crowd, he can handle it. If there's
- 28:18Speaker 1: a heckler in the crowd, he can handle that. You know.
- 28:22Speaker 1: If he's said and we need to finish us, you
- 28:26Speaker 1: know the show early, he can handle that, you know.
- 28:29Speaker 1: So just to be sitting on stage with a mastermind
- 28:33Speaker 1: as just really ah been the treat of my whole career.
- 28:38Speaker 1: So I love all the mediums. I love plays, I
- 28:43Speaker 1: love TV, I love movies. UM and I think the
- 28:47Speaker 1: best thing for me is his work ethics and UM
- 28:53Speaker 1: and he means business when he shows up. So if
- 28:56Speaker 1: you have your script uh ten days before or five
- 29:01Speaker 1: days before, or if he calls you the night before
- 29:05Speaker 1: it says, hey, look, I thought about something that I'd
- 29:07Speaker 1: like to put you in, just be ready. And so
- 29:10Speaker 1: that's what I really appreciate about the about the three
- 29:15Speaker 1: entities that I worked in. Let's talk about TV for
- 29:18Speaker 1: a wrap up here, because I want to make sure
- 29:20Speaker 1: I've been hyping and been promoting the eighth season. What
- 29:22Speaker 1: can we expect on this season of Tyler Perry's House
- 29:25Speaker 1: of Pain is on every Tuesday, NAPM Central. It's come
- 29:28Speaker 1: an a p m. Central, NPM Eastern West Coast. Yes,
- 29:33Speaker 1: um rishan, you should expect more of the same, and
- 29:37Speaker 1: then you can't expect um uh. I just think that
- 29:45Speaker 1: because House of Pain depicts life and art depicts life,
- 29:50Speaker 1: it's going to it's going to speak to those who
- 29:54Speaker 1: are in broken relationships. It's gonna speak to those young
- 29:57Speaker 1: people who are feeling themselves. It's going to speak to
- 30:01Speaker 1: all the people who are you know, so it's it's
- 30:08Speaker 1: going to reach the gathert you know are We love
- 30:11Speaker 1: the fact that we have that generation to generation from
- 30:15Speaker 1: two to two hundred are watching the show, you know,
- 30:18Speaker 1: the age Branges, and we actually have families sitting down
- 30:23Speaker 1: watching the show together. So I think you're going to
- 30:27Speaker 1: be amazed with uh um, some of the storylines and
- 30:32Speaker 1: the messages that we will bring to the forefront on
- 30:36Speaker 1: this run, on this season and again it ties in,
- 30:40Speaker 1: it ties the seventh season into the ninth season, So
- 30:44Speaker 1: I'm excited about it. Well, my dear, thank you for
- 30:46Speaker 1: coming on Money. As a family, on and off set,
- 30:51Speaker 1: we love each other. So I hope that you will
- 30:54Speaker 1: experience the love that we have for each other just individually.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Well that's no doubt. That's no doubt because of the
- 31:02Speaker 1: fact that I had Kesha Nights Pullman on the show
- 31:05Speaker 1: same same also and spell my Night Graduate Graduate and
- 31:08Speaker 1: so you know, y'all take it over there. We're gonna
- 31:10Speaker 1: do a big story on that, by the way, so
- 31:12Speaker 1: be ready. I want to just thank you for coming
- 31:14Speaker 1: on Money Making Conversation. I really do you. Just thank
