- 2:07Speaker 1: Master Class, Derek D. Hayes. How are you doing, sir?
- 2:11Speaker 1: I'm good man. Thank you so much, mister Vshan McDonald
- 2:14Speaker 1: for having me. Man. I appreciate your brother. Hey Man.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They had to lay it out there for you, Derek,
- 2:18Speaker 1: because you know, because now you did, Man, that was good.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You know sometimes hearing you know the stuff that you did,
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know along the way, it feels good. You know,
- 2:26Speaker 1: oh your heart rate, you know, somebody else honoring it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So it's always a blessing. Well, the thing about it
- 2:31Speaker 1: is you should be because sometimes as I have a segment,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I do a local show or bus show syndicates, and
- 2:36Speaker 1: I do it live every Tuesday. I love to invite
- 2:38Speaker 1: you on it, by the way, on w c OK
- 2:41Speaker 1: every Tuesday, and it's called a bragging segment, and I
- 2:44Speaker 1: encourage people to call in and talk about there what
- 2:47Speaker 1: they've done. Because we tend to be too humble about
- 2:50Speaker 1: our business. I always encourage people to remind them that,
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know, McDonald brags, Ford brags, and we need to
- 2:56Speaker 1: brag about what we do. So everything that you have
- 2:59Speaker 1: accomplished part of your success story. It's not what we
- 3:02Speaker 1: see when we get that sandwich because the cheesecakes that
- 3:06Speaker 1: because what happens was there's a journey to get there.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So how did I hit the date? Twenty fourteen? I
- 3:11Speaker 1: hit the small gas station. I hear seven hundred and
- 3:14Speaker 1: fifty square feet, which is the size of my parting
- 3:17Speaker 1: in college. So I know what that feels like. So
- 3:20Speaker 1: talk to us about it because obviously there was a
- 3:22Speaker 1: walk kid that wasn't a sit down diner. Tell us
- 3:25Speaker 1: about the whole concept of what you are turned into
- 3:28Speaker 1: an empire so far and it's growing. Well. Well, first, um,
- 3:33Speaker 1: I want to start off with saying the mission. And
- 3:37Speaker 1: you know, and an honor was my father, you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: that was everything that the reason why I built big days.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Um it passed away from lung cancer and two thousand
- 3:46Speaker 1: and nine and my dad, Diane wish was for me
- 3:49Speaker 1: to you know, stand on my own ten toes and
- 3:51Speaker 1: change my generational patterns and you know, not to get
- 3:53Speaker 1: in trouble. And you know, he worked this whole life
- 3:56Speaker 1: and he thought he left for a lot behind and
- 3:58Speaker 1: he didn't. So I was able to see a blue
- 4:01Speaker 1: collar work of my whole life and now transpiring to
- 4:04Speaker 1: me building my brand and I and my father. It
- 4:07Speaker 1: was it was, you know, a lot of hard work,
- 4:09Speaker 1: but it was something that my mission and my passion
- 4:12Speaker 1: what I really wanted to do, because just think about it,
- 4:14Speaker 1: a lot of people build brands just for money, you know.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I built this for a purpose of really, you know,
- 4:19Speaker 1: believing that my father, you know, his dreams and where
- 4:22Speaker 1: he wanted before he left fair So it actually helped
- 4:25Speaker 1: me and tricked me into winting more out of my
- 4:26Speaker 1: own self. So when I built Big Days, I didn't
- 4:29Speaker 1: know anything about business. I didn't know how to you know,
- 4:32Speaker 1: pay sales and use texts. I didn't know anything about
- 4:35Speaker 1: you know, getting ADP. I didn't know anything about food calls.
- 4:38Speaker 1: All I wanted to do was better my life and
- 4:41Speaker 1: you know, get out of situations I was in at
- 4:43Speaker 1: the time. But in the midst of all of this,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I was able to start in a small gas station
- 4:48Speaker 1: because nobody want to rent me in space out you know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: I'm going all over Atlanta. I'm saying, you know, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: got the money, you know, I you know I need that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you know, need the space and everybody's like, you know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: or you don't have the business experience. It only took
- 5:01Speaker 1: me this one shot. I always learned this and like
- 5:04Speaker 1: one shot can change your life forever. And that gas
- 5:06Speaker 1: station was my shot because that Indian guy rented me
- 5:09Speaker 1: that space. And you know, I had no business experience,
- 5:12Speaker 1: and I was able to make that nationally known, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: in seven years of my hard work. Now along the way,
- 5:17Speaker 1: I had a lot of roller coaster rides. You know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I got taken advantage of a lot by contractors, even
- 5:23Speaker 1: you know, employees, you know, because I had a you know,
- 5:26Speaker 1: soft heart, you know, you know, I wanted to see
- 5:28Speaker 1: everybody grow at the time. But it built my tough
- 5:31Speaker 1: skin along the way because I had to understand for
- 5:33Speaker 1: me to scale this business, I had to become a
- 5:35Speaker 1: real entrepreneur. So I started really you know, doing my
- 5:38Speaker 1: Google university, my YouTube university. I'm learning, you know, how
- 5:42Speaker 1: to really you know, do these things. And so I
- 5:44Speaker 1: don't get taken advantage of because I didn't finish school.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You know, I got a high school, the Plumba, but
- 5:48Speaker 1: I don't, you know, I didn't finish college. So and
- 5:50Speaker 1: I got forty some tattoos on my body, so I
- 5:53Speaker 1: don't look like the average CEO. So when people look
- 5:55Speaker 1: at me, you know, I gotta come on my things
- 5:57Speaker 1: together so they could take me serious. And the way
- 5:59Speaker 1: I did that that was to build multiple successful businesses
- 6:02Speaker 1: alone a way throughout the years. And let's go back
- 6:05Speaker 1: to the first one. Let's go back to the first one,
- 6:07Speaker 1: because I don't want people to miss these tremendous steps.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Because you know, first of all, I love your story.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Just a regular guy, a regular guy with a dream
- 6:17Speaker 1: driven by a passion that was motivated by your passing father.
- 6:21Speaker 1: That's that's that's hot. And a lot of people got
- 6:23Speaker 1: that passion. Yeah, they got that passion, Derek. But then again,
- 6:27Speaker 1: what takes him to that next step? Now, when you
- 6:29Speaker 1: saw this gas station, there's a gas station seven hundred
- 6:32Speaker 1: and fifties roughly, they said, you said seven forty nine.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say, s something, give one most grate
- 6:36Speaker 1: foot seven fifty seven from scrapfort Why and what area
- 6:40Speaker 1: of time was they were done with it? But what
- 6:42Speaker 1: area of done with it? And why did you think?
- 6:44Speaker 1: And what you had to bring in it? Because this
- 6:46Speaker 1: is a gas station. Now you're cooking in the gas station.
- 6:49Speaker 1: So talk about that set up and then being able
- 6:52Speaker 1: to sell the concept to the community and to your friends,
- 6:55Speaker 1: because the friends really is a hard sale because they're
- 6:57Speaker 1: gonna tell you it's not a smart idea. So so
- 7:00Speaker 1: that's how I actually winded up in the kitchen cooking
- 7:03Speaker 1: myself because I tried to get a cook to cook
- 7:06Speaker 1: the cheese steak and my friends was like, nah, it's
- 7:08Speaker 1: not home. And not to mention, I am in this
- 7:11Speaker 1: little gas station with one grill and one fryer and
- 7:15Speaker 1: it's all electric. You know. I don't know if a
- 7:17Speaker 1: lot of people know, cooking on electricity and cooking on
- 7:20Speaker 1: gases totally different because the grill goes in and out.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You know, a temperature is different. When you pick colds
- 7:25Speaker 1: no items on there, you lose temperature. So I had
- 7:29Speaker 1: to actually learn how to cook on these disadvantage um
- 7:33Speaker 1: you know, equipment that I had, and then I was
- 7:35Speaker 1: cooking on used equipment at the same time. I had
- 7:38Speaker 1: no no employees at the time. It's just me being
- 7:41Speaker 1: a cash are the cook, accounting um inventory anything that
- 7:47Speaker 1: I had to do to make it because I wanted
- 7:49Speaker 1: to be successful in the way I had to do
- 7:51Speaker 1: that was pick myself in all these situations to be
- 7:53Speaker 1: able to you know, work hard to do that myself,
- 7:56Speaker 1: because I didn't have the money at the time to
- 7:59Speaker 1: to you know, get people that help me. Because at
- 8:01Speaker 1: the end of the day, I blew my money no
- 8:03Speaker 1: I and I spent my last no building big Dave.
- 8:06Speaker 1: So I really had to get it out the mud.
- 8:08Speaker 1: So I would say that self belief is more than
- 8:12Speaker 1: anything that I had to do along the way. It
- 8:13Speaker 1: is believing in myself. If you don't believe in yourself,
- 8:16Speaker 1: there's no way that you can get somebody else to
- 8:18Speaker 1: believe in you. So when I started believing to myself more,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I started to get you know, a little bit of traffic.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And to be honest, man, I tell everybody, Eve the Rapper,
- 8:27Speaker 1: Eve Man. She was a big play, you know, a
- 8:29Speaker 1: big part of my story because in the midst of me,
- 8:31Speaker 1: you know, going through this year and now open, I
- 8:34Speaker 1: don't have no traffic. Still I'm going under you know.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Of course, if you can't pay the bills, eventually you're
- 8:39Speaker 1: gonna have to shut them doors. And she posted me
- 8:42Speaker 1: on her social network. Man at this I made a
- 8:44Speaker 1: chicken cheese steak for her, man, right, And you know,
- 8:47Speaker 1: so I did I did. I did because rapper Eve famous,
- 8:50Speaker 1: you know, great following, so loyal following first of all.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And so where were you at for that connection to
- 8:57Speaker 1: make that you know her? Or did you find out
- 8:59Speaker 1: about your fuse recommended your food to about that? I
- 9:02Speaker 1: was a friend. It was a friend. It was a friend,
- 9:04Speaker 1: a friend of a friend. And she was shooting barbershop,
- 9:08Speaker 1: you know, she was shooting the movie. And I waited
- 9:11Speaker 1: all the day for her to come, like a kid
- 9:12Speaker 1: on Christmas and I'm talking about she ain't come. Man,
- 9:16Speaker 1: you know, you know I didn't get discouraged that. I said,
- 9:18Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna keep on fighting. And the next
- 9:21Speaker 1: day she really came. And as I was making this
- 9:23Speaker 1: chicken cheese steak, you know what she told me. She said,
- 9:26Speaker 1: if this sandwich is good, I'm gonna post it on
- 9:29Speaker 1: my social media networks. Now you gotta think about it.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I'm a kid from Philly, all my rest siss I
- 9:35Speaker 1: exhausted everything, and now I'm like, shit, my life depending
- 9:39Speaker 1: on this. I got to make the sandwich the best
- 9:40Speaker 1: I can make it. And when I made this sand
- 9:43Speaker 1: when she bit it, she went't crazy. She said, oh man,
- 9:46Speaker 1: you brung me home. And she put it on every
- 9:48Speaker 1: social media outlet she had at the time. And when
- 9:51Speaker 1: I tell you, the next day, I made five thousand dollars.
- 9:54Speaker 1: That was my biggest day ever at the time. And
- 9:56Speaker 1: it was just up from there. I started to be
- 9:58Speaker 1: able to get the community more involved because they see traffic,
- 10:02Speaker 1: you know, people eat off of their eyes. You know,
- 10:06Speaker 1: they see lines, they say, well, I gotta be good.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So I was able to start building lines. And then
- 10:10Speaker 1: the next part of my journey that was a very
- 10:12Speaker 1: big part of my mission, was in twoy eighteen, UM
- 10:16Speaker 1: I was picked to go to a sandwich competition in
- 10:20Speaker 1: Orange Beach, Alabama, and I ranked number seventh in the world. Okay,
- 10:25Speaker 1: Orange Beach, Alabama sandwich competition. Okay, now this ain't New York, Dallas,
- 10:32Speaker 1: you not even Atlanta. You're an Orange Beach, Alabama sandwich competition.
- 10:36Speaker 1: So see, that's what I love about you. You know
- 10:38Speaker 1: you you you tell this story is just so normal
- 10:41Speaker 1: to you. But Orange Beach, Alabama. I don't think going
- 10:45Speaker 1: to Orange be Alabama gonna do anything for anybody, but
- 10:47Speaker 1: tell us about this competition and why it was important
- 10:49Speaker 1: to go. So So it was important to go because
- 10:54Speaker 1: for one, I wanted to represent that not only had
- 10:57Speaker 1: the best chief sting, but I wanted to have the
- 10:59Speaker 1: best sand. And honestly, it was an opportunity for me.
- 11:02Speaker 1: You know, I was hungry. You know, I had to
- 11:04Speaker 1: fire in my belly for success. I was waiting for
- 11:07Speaker 1: my moment, and when I got picked, I was ready
- 11:09Speaker 1: for it. But to be honest, when I got there,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know, it was a little discussion because I was
- 11:15Speaker 1: I was cooking on a barbecue grill. Now, mind you,
- 11:18Speaker 1: how do you make a cheese steak on a barbecue
- 11:20Speaker 1: grill because they don't have flat tops. So what I
- 11:21Speaker 1: had to do. I went to Walmart and got a
- 11:24Speaker 1: skillet and like a flat top, and I put it
- 11:26Speaker 1: over that gas grill and I got that thing hot
- 11:29Speaker 1: and I made them cheese steaks, just like I was
- 11:31Speaker 1: at Big Days. You know, I took my obscoles and
- 11:34Speaker 1: I pivoted, because that's the thing. When you don't pivot
- 11:37Speaker 1: when stuff happened, you're gonna sink. You're gonna give up.
- 11:40Speaker 1: You know, I'm already at disadvantage, you know, to the
- 11:43Speaker 1: American society. I'm a black man that come from the ghetto,
- 11:45Speaker 1: so I'm supposed to be here anyway, you know. So
- 11:49Speaker 1: the way I was looking at it was, this is
- 11:50Speaker 1: my opportunity to make some noise for me and my people,
- 11:53Speaker 1: to show that I deserved to be here. And when
- 11:57Speaker 1: you say that, then the diversity it just competition, not much.
- 12:00Speaker 1: When you make a statement, I can't I can count
- 12:03Speaker 1: on my my, uh my fingers, how many blank people
- 12:06Speaker 1: was in this competition. And the probably was, um, maybe
- 12:09Speaker 1: fifteen thousand, you know, could have been could have been
- 12:12Speaker 1: no at a little less, a little bit more, I'm
- 12:14Speaker 1: not sure, but I know that it was a good
- 12:16Speaker 1: amount of people, you know, trying to qualify for this,
- 12:20Speaker 1: for this uh cooking competition. And honestly, I never forget.
- 12:25Speaker 1: I gave Bold Jackson a Dave's way, and I said,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I know I had a big shot because I knew
- 12:31Speaker 1: I was making this sandwich with you know, all of
- 12:34Speaker 1: my grand my blood, sweat and tears, all these years
- 12:37Speaker 1: of me working. I said, I ain't come here to lose, man,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know, I came here to show out and show
- 12:42Speaker 1: on and honestly, and they called Derek Hayes, they said,
- 12:46Speaker 1: you know, top qualifiers, top ten in the world. And
- 12:49Speaker 1: when they called me, I was talking to somebody, and
- 12:51Speaker 1: because we was in this big facility, right and I
- 12:54Speaker 1: was looking at them like they just called my name,
- 12:57Speaker 1: and it was mind blowing because at the end of
- 13:00Speaker 1: the day, you want to win, you want to get
- 13:02Speaker 1: to the mountain top, you want to get there. But
- 13:04Speaker 1: when they really call your name, all your years of
- 13:07Speaker 1: your hard work and everything you've been through starting to
- 13:09Speaker 1: pan out. And honestly, it was emotional for me because again,
- 13:13Speaker 1: just like you said, it was at Orange Beach, Alabama,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and me as a black man, when anything at Orange Beach,
- 13:19Speaker 1: Alabama was a win for me on a barbecue grill,
- 13:22Speaker 1: onbecue grill on a barbecue was killing for Walmart exactly.
- 13:27Speaker 1: You know, man, That's how a lot of a lot
- 13:29Speaker 1: of my journey was built up of blood, swalling, tears
- 13:32Speaker 1: and getting it out the mud for real, because I
- 13:34Speaker 1: wanted people to see a real, authentic side of what
- 13:37Speaker 1: I was building. I don't want people to, you know,
- 13:39Speaker 1: see that anything it was given because I wanted them
- 13:42Speaker 1: to see that if the resources were short and they're
- 13:45Speaker 1: looking at me, they can do it too. Well. The
- 13:48Speaker 1: beauty of this conversation that I'm having with you is
- 13:50Speaker 1: that I know that establishing your brand because setbacks a
- 13:54Speaker 1: part of your old growth. Now in twenty twenty, we
- 13:56Speaker 1: all faced the pandemic and that at that point we
- 14:00Speaker 1: didn't know what to do, and so you used to
- 14:02Speaker 1: word pivot early in your conversation, the word pivot, which
- 14:04Speaker 1: I think is really important this conversation. When we talked
- 14:07Speaker 1: to young oportuneers who have a goal setting plays this
- 14:11Speaker 1: is how I'm going to do it, and sometimes when
- 14:13Speaker 1: something interrupts that goal, they frustration sets in or they
- 14:17Speaker 1: throw their hands up. When COVID the country was set
- 14:20Speaker 1: down in the month of March, how did you react
- 14:23Speaker 1: to that and did you have a game plan? Dave,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna say this. I'm gonna say this in the
- 14:28Speaker 1: most humblest way. My life was a pivot. I come
- 14:31Speaker 1: from West Philadelphia, I come from the jungle. I come
- 14:35Speaker 1: from Atlanta. Opportunity if you want it, because you got
- 14:37Speaker 1: to go get it. So when this happened in this pandemic,
- 14:40Speaker 1: of course, nobody ever seen this tragedy happened in the
- 14:43Speaker 1: world like this, But I knew the city I came
- 14:46Speaker 1: from from taught me how to pivot. So I wasn't
- 14:48Speaker 1: gonna quit. I was gonna find out a way to
- 14:51Speaker 1: help people while I was helping my brand be able
- 14:53Speaker 1: to grow at the same time. And the way I
- 14:54Speaker 1: was able to do that was I was able to
- 14:56Speaker 1: give a thousand plus meals to the community because those
- 15:00Speaker 1: same people that was going through those hard times for
- 15:02Speaker 1: the same people standing on my lines. And then I
- 15:05Speaker 1: wanted to help the healthcare workers, those frontline workers. Those
- 15:08Speaker 1: were the same people that was putting their life on
- 15:10Speaker 1: the line every day for people that I had COVID,
- 15:12Speaker 1: and we didn't really know how dangerous COVID was at
- 15:14Speaker 1: the time. So those people I wanted to help, I
- 15:17Speaker 1: f had forty plus hospitals in a month of COVID
- 15:20Speaker 1: the first month, you know, really, you know, we didn't
- 15:22Speaker 1: know what was going on. And I put my life
- 15:24Speaker 1: on the line just as well going in those hospitals
- 15:26Speaker 1: because I believe that it was a bigger papers that
- 15:28Speaker 1: they've seen an entrepreneur, a young black kid to come
- 15:31Speaker 1: from the GHET standing up. Some other people would stand up,
- 15:34Speaker 1: and then we will all stand up together and we
- 15:37Speaker 1: would reunite and be able to get our communities back
- 15:39Speaker 1: together in downtown. I was able to help out. I
- 15:42Speaker 1: donated twenty six thousand dollars to help businesses get back open.
- 15:46Speaker 1: So for me, it wasn't about making the money in
- 15:48Speaker 1: the pandemic pandemic, it was about helping others get their
- 15:52Speaker 1: doors back open, so that people could see what type
- 15:55Speaker 1: of person I was, and what I stand for and
- 15:57Speaker 1: what I represented, what I wanted out of my own self.
- 16:00Speaker 1: If you can look through a vision of me, you
- 16:01Speaker 1: can look through the vision of the community and we
- 16:03Speaker 1: can grow together. And that's what I was trying to
- 16:05Speaker 1: do where you did it. We'll be right back with
- 16:07Speaker 1: more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now, let's
- 16:15Speaker 1: return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. You're
- 16:20Speaker 1: recognized by for twenty twenty one, next one thousand on
- 16:23Speaker 1: a read now again, you know that goes back to Alabama.
- 16:28Speaker 1: You know you got that. You're in a tent. You
- 16:30Speaker 1: know they call your name. Didn't know that was gonna happen.
- 16:32Speaker 1: You shocked. Now you're doing all this great work for
- 16:35Speaker 1: the for the community. You know, like you said, now
- 16:37Speaker 1: one point in your conversation where you're talking about selling,
- 16:40Speaker 1: you're talking about uplifting, giving, giving given twenty six thousand,
- 16:43Speaker 1: ere thousand, sandwich. You said. All about the drive is
- 16:46Speaker 1: if I give, then they show support. It creates loyalty.
- 16:50Speaker 1: That's a business model that corporations do all the time,
- 16:53Speaker 1: and that comes from service. Now, service drives your business.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Customer service is a high priority. It's it's how you
- 17:01Speaker 1: communicate with your with your customer base. Correct. Yes, yes,
- 17:05Speaker 1: but I think I think um with me, Um with me, um, sir.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I think with me is people see that I'm real.
- 17:12Speaker 1: They see the authentic side of it, like I'm not
- 17:15Speaker 1: stripped it. You know, I showed my flaws. I showed
- 17:18Speaker 1: my ups and down so that you don't make the
- 17:20Speaker 1: same mistakes that I made. I'm not selling you food.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I'm selling you hope and I'm selling you a dream.
- 17:27Speaker 1: A kid like me believing they want to make a change,
- 17:30Speaker 1: And when they see that, they put the food to
- 17:32Speaker 1: the side for a second. They know I make good food.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Everybody loves my food, but they also love the passion
- 17:37Speaker 1: and the story that I'm putting out because there's so
- 17:40Speaker 1: many other people out here in the world that need
- 17:42Speaker 1: that help. You think about it, it it could be a
- 17:44Speaker 1: young kid that looked just like me, thirty four years old.
- 17:46Speaker 1: He might be in the hood, trying to get out
- 17:48Speaker 1: of not being no selling drugs or a bad situation.
- 17:51Speaker 1: He can go ahead and punch on Instagram and look
- 17:53Speaker 1: at me and say, listen, I know this kid came
- 17:56Speaker 1: from the same thing I came from. I could do
- 17:58Speaker 1: it too. That's bigger than me than any money. That's
- 18:02Speaker 1: the biggest thing for me. You know, I could be
- 18:03Speaker 1: walking in the market and somebody will walk over to
- 18:06Speaker 1: me and say, hey, man, you don't even understand. You
- 18:08Speaker 1: saved my life. You made me want to change, You
- 18:10Speaker 1: made me want more out of myself. And I used
- 18:13Speaker 1: the food to be able to step and stone and
- 18:15Speaker 1: trigger that. I was told this once upon in my life.
- 18:18Speaker 1: My aunt was bad on cancer in two thousand and five.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Her name was Teresa Hennigan. She eventually passed away. But
- 18:24Speaker 1: in the middle of this I went to a church
- 18:26Speaker 1: with her and a pastor. He told me in my heir,
- 18:29Speaker 1: he said, you're going to be a pastor. Now. At
- 18:32Speaker 1: the time I'm playing basketball, I had who dreams to
- 18:34Speaker 1: make it to the NBA. I said, I'm not going
- 18:36Speaker 1: to be no pastor. A pastor is not about getting
- 18:39Speaker 1: on the pulpit. It's about spreading the message. It's about
- 18:42Speaker 1: giving a message so other people could receive. And right now,
- 18:45Speaker 1: every day I spread the message. When these people out
- 18:47Speaker 1: here seeing big they build these two locations, young black
- 18:50Speaker 1: kid come from the ghetto, build multimillion dollar companies left
- 18:53Speaker 1: and right right now, they get motivated by that. So
- 18:56Speaker 1: for me, that's the biggest motivation for me. It ain't
- 18:58Speaker 1: about the money. It's about the motivation for my people. Well,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you know the interesting thing about it. You know when
- 19:02Speaker 1: I saw you on the cover of Essence. You know
- 19:05Speaker 1: usually you know when you're the cover of Essence, you
- 19:07Speaker 1: know you interes elbow. You know what I'm saying, you know,
- 19:10Speaker 1: Michael B. George, know what I'm saying. That's go, go go.
- 19:14Speaker 1: That's it. Now he's smiling, y'all, y'all, y'all, Audio. I
- 19:17Speaker 1: gotta tell you he's straightened up a little bit when
- 19:19Speaker 1: I started talking about being on the cover of Essence,
- 19:21Speaker 1: because Essence, like you know, because I'm older than you,
- 19:24Speaker 1: that's you know, that's Ebony back in my day, that's
- 19:27Speaker 1: Jet magazine back in my day. You know when you
- 19:29Speaker 1: saw that, you left that on the coffee table. When
- 19:32Speaker 1: when did it happened? Because you know that was an
- 19:34Speaker 1: announcement about your brand, but it's even a bigger announcement
- 19:37Speaker 1: for you because it wasn't entertainment driven your parent on there.
- 19:41Speaker 1: It's about you as a person, what you do for
- 19:43Speaker 1: the community. And you've been able to step out. Like
- 19:47Speaker 1: you talk about your background, you come from humble beginnings,
- 19:49Speaker 1: you come from Philadelphia, you come from a neighborhood like
- 19:52Speaker 1: I came from a neighborhood where people steer or type
- 19:54Speaker 1: your success you know, you know you're driving that neighborhood.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Then people were questioning why you come out how exactly
- 20:02Speaker 1: it's like you you you lucky like that, you like
- 20:06Speaker 1: you don't belong here, like you don't You're like you
- 20:08Speaker 1: don't deserve it. And I think, see, and that's what
- 20:11Speaker 1: I'm trying to teach too. You know, I was asked
- 20:14Speaker 1: this question yesterday. I was having a conversation and they said,
- 20:17Speaker 1: why do you think our culture, you know, handle things differently?
- 20:21Speaker 1: And the reason what that being is just to imagine
- 20:24Speaker 1: if you was a kid on Christmas, right, everybody got
- 20:27Speaker 1: this toy, but this one kid got the best toy
- 20:30Speaker 1: that everybody wanted. That if that kid never was told
- 20:33Speaker 1: how to share that toy, because he never had the
- 20:35Speaker 1: resources to feel good about having anything that feel good.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Then how can that kid ever know he's going wrong?
- 20:40Speaker 1: When you win an environment of everything a certain way,
- 20:43Speaker 1: that's what you're accustomed to. Now, what I'm trying to
- 20:46Speaker 1: show different is, Okay, we stepped out of these boundaries
- 20:49Speaker 1: of these inner cities, these lower lower income communities, and
- 20:53Speaker 1: now we got social media outlets showing us when it's
- 20:55Speaker 1: right from Rome. But the leaders that got the voice
- 20:58Speaker 1: got to help out and say, let's now that we
- 21:01Speaker 1: got the ball in our hands, let's stick together and
- 21:03Speaker 1: change these communities out and give resources. Let's build community centers, centers,
- 21:07Speaker 1: Let's build a financial literacy program so that when kids
- 21:11Speaker 1: get to high school, and when they're about to get
- 21:12Speaker 1: out of high school, they ain't lost on about a
- 21:14Speaker 1: credit card or how they going to do their financial
- 21:17Speaker 1: literacy or how they going to get through college. They
- 21:19Speaker 1: know that spending over thirty percent on their credit card
- 21:22Speaker 1: gonna mess they credit up. Before the bill cycle hit,
- 21:24Speaker 1: they know that they can now you know, utilize their
- 21:27Speaker 1: their capital before that bill cycle hit, so that now
- 21:29Speaker 1: they're not getting put all outs for interest. So they're
- 21:31Speaker 1: rotating this money making money they know how to get
- 21:33Speaker 1: cash back cash rewards cards when they spending money to
- 21:36Speaker 1: pit it in their savings account when it earns enough
- 21:39Speaker 1: money to now move the money in this free money
- 21:41Speaker 1: off of spending money. But we can't teach that, and
- 21:44Speaker 1: we don't know that, and all we can know is
- 21:46Speaker 1: what's going on these communities to survive. Like I said, well,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I come from that in Philly. I was bored to
- 21:51Speaker 1: just survive. And my day of living it was my
- 21:54Speaker 1: dad survival. I ain't thinking about tomorrow. So I'm trying
- 21:57Speaker 1: to teach my generation now, let's worry about tomorrow. Because
- 21:59Speaker 1: when you got our kids, got to lead them set
- 22:01Speaker 1: up for when you ain't here, you got to take
- 22:03Speaker 1: care of them from the grave. You know what I'm saying.
- 22:05Speaker 1: That's why we're doing as a life insurance initiative right now. Wow,
- 22:09Speaker 1: you know I love as we progress through this interview, Derek,
- 22:13Speaker 1: how you your energy your comfort zone with me has
- 22:16Speaker 1: just picked up and keep transferring to an even more
- 22:19Speaker 1: positive level. But the number one thing when I talk
- 22:22Speaker 1: about and I meet individuals like you, because you're a
- 22:24Speaker 1: self made person, Like I said, you're not ashamed of
- 22:27Speaker 1: your journey now because at the beginning. I always talk
- 22:29Speaker 1: about friends, family, and don't let anybody stop you from
- 22:33Speaker 1: living your dream and stop you from planning your dream. Okay,
- 22:37Speaker 1: when you talk about the community and the next step,
- 22:40Speaker 1: what is Big Dave's future? How do you? How do
- 22:43Speaker 1: you conceptualize that deal? Who do you? Because you know
- 22:45Speaker 1: it ain't you no more than seven hundred and fifty
- 22:47Speaker 1: scrabfoot shall gas station by yourself. You have to put
- 22:49Speaker 1: a team around you. What does that team look like?
- 22:52Speaker 1: So I'll teach so our listeners and our viewers can understand.
- 22:55Speaker 1: When you grow, grow has to be surrounded by quality.
- 22:58Speaker 1: You have to spend money to keep that qualities around
- 23:01Speaker 1: you in order if you dream to grow. I like
- 23:04Speaker 1: this topic right here because a lot of people, you know, um,
- 23:08Speaker 1: they might tell me I'm too top heavy with the
- 23:10Speaker 1: locations that I have. But the thing is, if you ain't,
- 23:14Speaker 1: if you're ready, you ain't got to get ready. You
- 23:15Speaker 1: know when that moment happens. So I'm about to open
- 23:18Speaker 1: my third location in Jones Brow, Georgia. Hopefully you know
- 23:23Speaker 1: the doors will open this summer. You know a lot
- 23:25Speaker 1: is going through with the pandemic, so it's pushing a
- 23:27Speaker 1: lot of materials back, you know, and a lot of
- 23:29Speaker 1: stuff is on hold. But in the midst of in
- 23:33Speaker 1: the midst of everything that I'm done with my brand,
- 23:36Speaker 1: I'm about to pay eight rows in the market where
- 23:39Speaker 1: you're about to be able to go and your nearest
- 23:41Speaker 1: stories and be able to make your own eight rows
- 23:43Speaker 1: whenever you want big days. And that's gonna be a
- 23:45Speaker 1: big thing for me because that's a dream of mine.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Is going to market. I'm coming out with the new
- 23:50Speaker 1: Big Dave seasoning. You're gonna be able to come in
- 23:52Speaker 1: Big Dave Stories and you're gonna be able to pick
- 23:54Speaker 1: up the same season and we make the product with
- 23:57Speaker 1: So when you want to become your own Big Dave
- 23:59Speaker 1: at home, you do it. You know, I just want
- 24:03Speaker 1: for me, like philanthropy is a big thing for me,
- 24:06Speaker 1: you know, building this brand. I love it just as
- 24:09Speaker 1: much as I love, you know, the restaurant space. I
- 24:11Speaker 1: love talking to people because, for one, I know that
- 24:17Speaker 1: I'm giving them real game that I've been through in
- 24:19Speaker 1: my life to help them change theirs. No, I don't
- 24:21Speaker 1: think I know everything but me at thirty four years old,
- 24:24Speaker 1: I was blessed in a lot of ways that you know,
- 24:26Speaker 1: a lot of people may not have got to yet,
- 24:29Speaker 1: and I can now help them when they get to
- 24:31Speaker 1: this situation in their life. They're not making those same
- 24:33Speaker 1: mistakes I made. Now, let me tell you something, Mistakes
- 24:36Speaker 1: costs in a business. Right when you're in business, mistakes costs.
- 24:40Speaker 1: It costs. When I mean it costs. It's more than money.
- 24:44Speaker 1: It hurt you in the finance side. But scaling the business,
- 24:47Speaker 1: you need your CRRO to be good, your COO to
- 24:51Speaker 1: be good, your GMS to be good, your assistant managers
- 24:55Speaker 1: to be good, your fry cooks, your grilled cooks. Everybody
- 24:58Speaker 1: is a is a motor that works to able to
- 25:00Speaker 1: operate this vehicle, and without that, you can't scale. And
- 25:04Speaker 1: it took me years to really be able to get
- 25:06Speaker 1: that together because, like I said, I love heart, so
- 25:10Speaker 1: I see the best out of people. Sometimes they dont
- 25:11Speaker 1: seeing themselves. But I was also told this by multiple
- 25:15Speaker 1: different billionaires and this was my blessing. Right, you know,
- 25:18Speaker 1: you're never going to scale if you don't get thick
- 25:21Speaker 1: skin to be able to do it because these same
- 25:24Speaker 1: people aren't gonna be with you. The ones that belong
- 25:27Speaker 1: what you're gonna be with you because they want to
- 25:29Speaker 1: better themselves along the journey. But the ones who just
- 25:32Speaker 1: tagging along and the business is growing and they're not growing,
- 25:35Speaker 1: you know, you're gonna eventually have to leave them or
- 25:37Speaker 1: the business is going to leave you. And if the
- 25:39Speaker 1: business leave the CEO, you know what happens after that
- 25:41Speaker 1: goes It goes down the dream And and that's what
- 25:45Speaker 1: I'm not building. Like I told you, this a highness
- 25:47Speaker 1: to my father, I know, and the end of this
- 25:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna building. I'm building a billion dollar business. I'm
- 25:52Speaker 1: gonna have big days everywhere. After Jonesborough, we am gonna
- 25:56Speaker 1: leave the state because I feel like it's enough big
- 25:59Speaker 1: days right now the state of Georgia. UM And I
- 26:02Speaker 1: don't want to oversaturate the market. I want people to
- 26:04Speaker 1: really um continue to love the brand the way they
- 26:07Speaker 1: love the brand. UM and I want to keep on
- 26:09Speaker 1: setting the bar high and setting the culture and what
- 26:12Speaker 1: I got going on outside of you know, just the
- 26:14Speaker 1: big Davi's brand. You know, me and Pinky we jumped
- 26:17Speaker 1: in real estate heavy. We're buying up a lot of
- 26:19Speaker 1: real estate right now. And the reason why we're doing
- 26:22Speaker 1: that is because we're trying to build up these communities.
- 26:24Speaker 1: So when stuff ain't looking right in these communities. Which
- 26:27Speaker 1: better to say it. It's people that look just like
- 26:29Speaker 1: the people that's from these communities building them up, and
- 26:32Speaker 1: ain't developers tearing them up and moving them out. You
- 26:35Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, right, We're gonna keep them. We're
- 26:37Speaker 1: gonna keep them in, We're gonna give them jobs. And
- 26:39Speaker 1: the way we're gonna do that is all these companies
- 26:41Speaker 1: were building. Love it, you know some Derek. First of all,
- 26:45Speaker 1: when Jones burd opened up, you better contact me. Okay,
- 26:48Speaker 1: I got you because I want to be there. Like
- 26:50Speaker 1: I said, I'm right down the street from your location
- 26:54Speaker 1: over there, Brand Mark, I'm right now, that's where you at.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I'm right down the street from that. And so my
- 27:00Speaker 1: staff supports it. First of all, a joy they talk
- 27:04Speaker 1: to you. Your passion, your information, your gift, man, your gift,
- 27:09Speaker 1: and a blessing your entrepreneurial spirit. You are what America
- 27:12Speaker 1: is built on, a land of opportunity. You know, we
- 27:16Speaker 1: should never be denied based on the color of our
- 27:18Speaker 1: skin or the education that people perceived we don't have.
- 27:22Speaker 1: You are the person that I bring on the show
- 27:24Speaker 1: to educate my audience that anything is possible and I
- 27:27Speaker 1: want to thank you for coming up Money Making Conversation
- 27:29Speaker 1: master Class. Thank you man, and I thank you for
- 27:32Speaker 1: having me, and I want to release one more thing. OK,
- 27:35Speaker 1: people listening, So it's not about how you start. It's
- 27:41Speaker 1: not about what's gonna happen in the middle of that race.
- 27:45Speaker 1: You shoot, get untied, your soul, getting messed up, your
- 27:48Speaker 1: sneak and fall off. Just finish the race. Don't worry
- 27:51Speaker 1: about the place you're gonna be in because as long
- 27:53Speaker 1: as you finish the race, the job is done. And
- 27:55Speaker 1: when a job is done, guess what you can say
- 27:57Speaker 1: at the end of the day. I finished the man
- 28:00Speaker 1: because I wasn't worrying about the race. You know what
- 28:03Speaker 1: I'm saying. So at the end of it all, you
- 28:05Speaker 1: gave it all you got. As long as you give
- 28:07Speaker 1: it all you got, and you finished that line as
- 28:08Speaker 1: long as you crossed it. Be proud of yourself and
- 28:10Speaker 1: your journey, and stop sizing and stuff up to other people,
- 28:13Speaker 1: because guy got everybody journey for themselves to be able
- 28:16Speaker 1: to better other people. You don't know. It may feel
- 28:19Speaker 1: like that man or that woman got that success of
- 28:21Speaker 1: a night, but you don't know what they've been through
- 28:22Speaker 1: to get that success. Absolutely, it's not attract meets of marathon.
- 28:25Speaker 1: So I always remember that. I love it because I
- 28:27Speaker 1: always tell people that, you know, don't look at that's
- 28:30Speaker 1: the old it's saying, don't look at somebody else's y'all.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You know, you don't have to explain the word. I finished,
- 28:36Speaker 1: versus I quit. I quit you out to explain it.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I finished me and I made maximum effort to get
- 28:41Speaker 1: the job done. That's all you're saying. And I love it. Brother.
- 28:44Speaker 1: We're gonna talk in person because I want to sit
- 28:46Speaker 1: down and just chat with your time man, because you're special. Again.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I've had Pinky on the show. Both of y'all are special.
- 28:52Speaker 1: But congratulations. You know, mister Jews ever a Big Dave's cheesecake.
- 28:57Speaker 1: You know, mister sexy, mister sexy, mister look got the
- 29:00Speaker 1: te fall out there, you know, forty three tattoos straight
- 29:03Speaker 1: out of Philly, Big Dave. Gee, thank you, bro, keep
- 29:09Speaker 1: doing your thing. I see you being the kitchen whipping
- 29:10Speaker 1: up your recipe. Chee steak man. I love it, man,
- 29:15Speaker 1: stay strong, steak man. Thank you man. All Right, we

- 29:48Speaker 1: Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. You are now tuned into
- 29:54Speaker 1: the money Making Conversations. Minute of Inspiration with Rashaan McDonald. Hi,
- 29:59Speaker 1: I'm Sean mc time for Money Making Conversation master Class
- 30:02Speaker 1: which you daily been to. The inspiration I said that
- 30:04Speaker 1: with dancer and actress Sky Alvester Black, He's disgust the
- 30:07Speaker 1: necessity of yielding to what God has for you, and
- 30:10Speaker 1: even when you can't see it for yourself. Always to
- 30:13Speaker 1: God first. Sometimes you have to surrender to what you
- 30:16Speaker 1: think you want and follow what will God has for you. Yes,
- 30:20Speaker 1: in your life. And I always say when I prayed,
- 30:23Speaker 1: specifics matter because I remember being a kid and I
- 30:26Speaker 1: was like, I want to be on TV. I want
- 30:27Speaker 1: to be a star. And actually I wanted to sing,
- 30:30Speaker 1: but I prayed. I said, I want to be on TV,
- 30:33Speaker 1: and that was my destiny. I felt like God gave
- 30:36Speaker 1: me an angel in Debila to notice what was already
- 30:40Speaker 1: going to do my destiny down the line and walk
- 30:43Speaker 1: fully in purpose. I'm a true believer of that. You
- 30:45Speaker 1: can listen to this full interview with Sky Alvester Black.
- 30:48Speaker 1: It's available on money Making Now Let's return to Money
- 30:51Speaker 1: Making Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald and it's fun and

- 31:15Speaker 1: You know I was in the hood, you know, two
- 31:16Speaker 1: bare room shotgun house and uh you know that it
- 31:19Speaker 1: was a truck driver. You know mama went to school
- 31:22Speaker 1: to campus. They're gonna count us down. And then I'm
- 31:30Speaker 1: going to introduce the show, and then I'm gonna set
- 31:33Speaker 1: up the show talking about the upcoming third season and
- 31:36Speaker 1: um and we go from there. But just a nice,
- 31:38Speaker 1: comfortable show. We're gonna find laugh and you guys are

- 32:13Speaker 1: stop reading other people's success stories and start writing your own.
- 32:17Speaker 1: People always talk about your purpose or gifts. If you
- 32:19Speaker 1: have a gift, lead with your gifts and don't let
- 32:22Speaker 1: your friends, family, or co workers stop you from planning
- 32:24Speaker 1: or living your dreams. My next guests are Karen and
- 32:27Speaker 1: Dion Dereco. They're promoting their TLC show doubling down with
- 32:32Speaker 1: the Drico. The fan favorite series is airing season three.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Now they so happy, I said today right, Navigating life
- 32:39Speaker 1: with kist y'all ten plus four fourteen, including four sets
- 32:44Speaker 1: or naturally conceived multiples is never easy. I grew up
- 32:48Speaker 1: with six sisters two brothers, so I know the never
- 32:50Speaker 1: easy story. And that's why people always wonder why eat
- 32:52Speaker 1: so fast? But with kids getting older, parents dion and
- 32:56Speaker 1: kill or facing a whole new let me just set
- 32:58Speaker 1: up the third season for y'all kids are getting old
- 33:00Speaker 1: to see. See when you can just tell the kids
- 33:02Speaker 1: to just shut up in the corner and they go
- 33:04Speaker 1: shut up. At some point they don't. They ain't working
- 33:07Speaker 1: no more. Including a fifteen year old quest for independence
- 33:10Speaker 1: and a driver's license, eleven year old ten year old
- 33:13Speaker 1: twins developing their first questions for your triple starting preschool
- 33:17Speaker 1: plus party training. I saw them all sitting on the
- 33:19Speaker 1: taller a trip to Disney Disneyland. Imagine all of them
- 33:23Speaker 1: down at Disney Legends. They just they made the line long.
- 33:26Speaker 1: As soon as they walked up, fast pass, they are passed.
- 33:28Speaker 1: They are a fast pass killer. New health issues and
- 33:32Speaker 1: more in the midst of the regular chaos of raising
- 33:34Speaker 1: childing do the Recods also in the brick of a
- 33:37Speaker 1: big decision moving cross country to South Carolina. I know
- 33:41Speaker 1: about the low country, great food down there. Okay, Karen's
- 33:44Speaker 1: extended fander down there, you know southern route. You know
- 33:46Speaker 1: she try to go back down there, you know, swoopy
- 33:47Speaker 1: tad pot Now they could stop no matter what lies
- 33:50Speaker 1: ahead that the Recods, We're facing together. This is how
- 33:53Speaker 1: you get. This is the whole part about it. This
- 33:55Speaker 1: is written by TV folks. We'll face it together, doubling
- 33:58Speaker 1: down on all the love it's fun it takes to
- 34:01Speaker 1: raise this unique family. Please welcome to Bundy Make Conversations
- 34:04Speaker 1: master Class. Karen and Dan do we call I love it?
- 34:13Speaker 1: I love it? You know? You know? And when I
- 34:16Speaker 1: first heard about the show coming on, you know it
- 34:18Speaker 1: because people look at it anything that's unusual as a novelty.
- 34:23Speaker 1: That's a novelty. And so let's go back to and
- 34:26Speaker 1: you you know, you guys didn't do this to be
- 34:28Speaker 1: to be some type of this word like a shell
- 34:31Speaker 1: freak show or novel or novelty. So who contacted you
- 34:36Speaker 1: and who had to convince who to do the show?
- 34:40Speaker 1: I don't think it was any convincing. Both Karen Back
- 34:45Speaker 1: and we discussed it, you know, we talked about what
- 34:47Speaker 1: we would do with such a platform and how platform
- 34:51Speaker 1: would look, you know, and we wanted to make sure
- 34:54Speaker 1: that no matter what, we stayed true too, of course,
- 34:57Speaker 1: who we are, and we wanted to too many people
- 35:01Speaker 1: that may be facing some of the challenges in which
- 35:03Speaker 1: you would watch on our show, right, and so then
- 35:06Speaker 1: you see on our show it's real, it's us, it's
- 35:08Speaker 1: a life, and we're showing how we navigate through those
- 35:12Speaker 1: many challenges. We're just a large family, no different from
- 35:15Speaker 1: anyone else except the fact there's so many of us. Yeah. Well,
- 35:18Speaker 1: you know I come from a large family, six sisters,
- 35:20Speaker 1: two brothers, and there is a difference. You know, it's
- 35:24Speaker 1: it's feeding a big family, you know. Feeding that's because
- 35:27Speaker 1: you know it's like you have to wait in line
- 35:29Speaker 1: for the food. You have to like this, no getting
- 35:31Speaker 1: around it, okay, you know you have to get to
- 35:34Speaker 1: make enough food. People are And I was just a
- 35:36Speaker 1: two other story because I came from fifth Ward and
- 35:39Speaker 1: I went to college and we come from you know,
- 35:41Speaker 1: I wouldn't say impoverished, but we wasn't wasn't middle class,
- 35:46Speaker 1: and so I would I was, I was still in college.
- 35:49Speaker 1: I was always used a spoon. I wouldn't even a
- 35:51Speaker 1: spoon all the time. In fact, if you gave me,
- 35:53Speaker 1: I wouldn't even use a knife to cut I use
- 35:55Speaker 1: a spoon to cut my sandwich. And friends, wo, hey, dude,
- 35:58Speaker 1: you know it's a knife and from my my ain't.
- 36:00Speaker 1: I didn't even think about that. Because when you don't
- 36:03Speaker 1: have a lot do you was available? It becomes normal
- 36:06Speaker 1: because normal and I'm not saying you guys live that life,
- 36:09Speaker 1: but I'm just saying, is that you make adjustments to
- 36:13Speaker 1: be able to provide for you. Like I thought that
- 36:15Speaker 1: was normal, and I lived a great life. I grew
- 36:18Speaker 1: up a great child in that large kid environment. And
- 36:21Speaker 1: so what a justice have you guys made so your
- 36:24Speaker 1: children can be as normal as possible in an environment
- 36:28Speaker 1: with fourteen kids? That's a good question. What do we
- 36:33Speaker 1: do to make it normal? Is you know, children follow
- 36:36Speaker 1: the head right with the parents. So I think the
- 36:40Speaker 1: thing is she and I had a great understanding as
- 36:42Speaker 1: to what we wanted in life, where we expected to go.
- 36:45Speaker 1: We talked about having a lot of children. We just
- 36:48Speaker 1: didn't anticipate having all these multiples. That right, right, that's
- 36:52Speaker 1: a surprise, God, trich God. But we did understand and
- 37:00Speaker 1: the assignment to the degree of we said, and we
- 37:04Speaker 1: actually talked about how we wanted to parent, what type
- 37:07Speaker 1: of relationship we wanted to have with our children. And
- 37:10Speaker 1: so from having said that, thank god I got into
- 37:13Speaker 1: real estate very very early, and that those were the funds.
- 37:18Speaker 1: The funds were available to allow for she and I
- 37:21Speaker 1: to be at home with them. That's the biggest blessing
- 37:24Speaker 1: that we were able to give our children is we're
- 37:27Speaker 1: both at home parents because we look the income that
- 37:31Speaker 1: would sustain us being able to be at home. My
- 37:33Speaker 1: wife specializes in early childhood education. So with that being said,
- 37:38Speaker 1: she's a teacher, and then mine teaching them in life
- 37:41Speaker 1: and the streat mentality. I grew up in a very
- 37:44Speaker 1: hard area like yourself, and so educating on so many levels,
- 37:49Speaker 1: and she and I giving them the level of education
- 37:52Speaker 1: that we did as being important such as financial literacy,
- 37:56Speaker 1: right you know these this wasn't talked to me in
- 37:59Speaker 1: school about read it and why you need to read it,
- 38:02Speaker 1: an interest rates. And so having said that, we were
- 38:05Speaker 1: able together to put together such a plan, and I mean,
- 38:08Speaker 1: I'm able to see it now hindsight being twenty twenty
- 38:11Speaker 1: A great plan that she and I put together, and
- 38:13Speaker 1: so answering your question as to how did we prepare
- 38:18Speaker 1: for such a large family and making those provisions, because
- 38:22Speaker 1: we started from the ground up, baby, and we built
- 38:24Speaker 1: this thing the right way, you know. And it's important
- 38:27Speaker 1: to have two heads communicating, you know, communicat especially with
- 38:31Speaker 1: the family in this side. And it's equally important to
- 38:33Speaker 1: have the male's participation, especially on the feet of the
- 38:36Speaker 1: girl's side. The daughters and I play a role. I
- 38:39Speaker 1: can tell if my absences in my daughter's life, if
- 38:42Speaker 1: the world, she would be a different person because she
- 38:44Speaker 1: respects the process and that's the process, you know. Whoever,
- 38:47Speaker 1: how I treat her and raise her, it's the type
- 38:49Speaker 1: of man she may marry or date, you know, based
- 38:53Speaker 1: on the value she see. Well, Daddy treated me like this,
- 38:56Speaker 1: or Daddy didn't give me Christmas prayers, or Daddy didn't
- 38:59Speaker 1: think much of my birthday, then gets what the man
- 39:01Speaker 1: in my life? Okay, if he does the same thing,
- 39:04Speaker 1: and that could be like you know, parental abuse in
- 39:06Speaker 1: the sense. To me, I always tell people what you
- 39:08Speaker 1: would you teach your child because they come in the world.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Like I always the blessing of this shows me is
- 39:12Speaker 1: this is that And I'm talking to Karen and theco
- 39:16Speaker 1: and U doubling down onto the RICO. So okay on
- 39:19Speaker 1: TLC is that these kids didn't ask to come into
- 39:23Speaker 1: this world. And I always tell me that's why, that's
- 39:24Speaker 1: why I see parents and the child abuse. I just
- 39:28Speaker 1: it angers me. It angers me and when it come
- 39:32Speaker 1: into this world, that's a responsibility with each case, Like
- 39:35Speaker 1: you said, you didn't expect multiple child children being born
- 39:38Speaker 1: at each time. You once you recognize that, you knew
- 39:40Speaker 1: you had to plan for that. So as each situation
- 39:43Speaker 1: happened emotionally, what did that do for you? The motivation?
- 39:47Speaker 1: Because you know you are kids over here, okay, and
- 39:50Speaker 1: normally when you're pregnant you're bringing one child. Additional child
- 39:53Speaker 1: in the world, you bring multiple How does that? How
- 39:55Speaker 1: do you balance that conversation Karen as a mother in
- 40:00Speaker 1: regards to these additional kids that you bring on and
- 40:03Speaker 1: being able to maintain that love balance it is. That's
- 40:08Speaker 1: a really good question. You know, I first start with
- 40:11Speaker 1: this was a you know, we asked when drink. When
- 40:15Speaker 1: I sat down, I had that first, you know, initial
- 40:17Speaker 1: conversation and the question is asked, how many children you want?
- 40:21Speaker 1: You know, it was how many? Ever got how many
- 40:24Speaker 1: God blesses me to have? And I feel as though
- 40:28Speaker 1: with each pregnancy and when the multiples especially started to
- 40:33Speaker 1: come along, we were extremely grateful. But we also looked
- 40:37Speaker 1: at it as God believed them. And this is we
- 40:41Speaker 1: want to make sure that they contribute to society. Want
- 40:44Speaker 1: to raise them in a way where they are positively
- 40:47Speaker 1: contributing into society. So the justice that we make is,
- 40:51Speaker 1: you know what God gave you, all gave you us
- 40:55Speaker 1: for a reason, right, and he knew that He knew
- 40:59Speaker 1: that you were you were all well all tell our mustiples,
- 41:02Speaker 1: you were so special A God made a partner right
- 41:08Speaker 1: here on a higher accord and you have to answer
- 41:12Speaker 1: that call. And it's our job to nurture you and
- 41:15Speaker 1: to figure that out, and that to help find your
- 41:17Speaker 1: place and like you said, your purpose and your gifts.
- 41:20Speaker 1: And we they go by without reminding them that you
- 41:24Speaker 1: are here for a reason. Let's let's find your special
- 41:27Speaker 1: gift and let's share it with the world. Right and
- 41:30Speaker 1: then being the responsibility because you know that, then you
- 41:32Speaker 1: know the era we live in. And you know, look
- 41:36Speaker 1: at television, the George Floyd's situation, the pandemic, and and
- 41:40Speaker 1: this this is not the world we grew up in. Okay, technology,
- 41:44Speaker 1: you know your children and they don't. You have to
- 41:47Speaker 1: tell them about the version B. You have to keep
- 41:48Speaker 1: them off their cell phone. You know what I'm saying.
- 41:50Speaker 1: You know, so you don't want to learn the wrong way. So, Derek,
- 41:53Speaker 1: as as as as the man as to being able to,
- 41:57Speaker 1: you know, certain things you can't control? What what as
- 42:01Speaker 1: as the father? What responsibility in this new era? Because
- 42:05Speaker 1: you got fourteen of them? Okay, it's bad enough trying
- 42:07Speaker 1: to keep two under control or one under control, but
- 42:10Speaker 1: fourteen of them, okay, and then you got some of
- 42:12Speaker 1: them that think they know warn you when they hit
- 42:14Speaker 1: that age that's where they had on the show in
- 42:16Speaker 1: the third season. How's your dad? You know, you maintaining
- 42:20Speaker 1: that when you're not losing the rest of your head
- 42:21Speaker 1: because somebody's turning great, it's probably about to take over.
- 42:24Speaker 1: It's about to take over this season, You're about to
- 42:26Speaker 1: take over. That's why I got to add on right now,
- 42:30Speaker 1: my brothers, that's what the head is on right now. Okay,
- 42:33Speaker 1: hear me, but no, everything right on the um. It's
- 42:40Speaker 1: very important that we set the tone and the standard. Yeah,
- 42:44Speaker 1: the tone and the one of the very first things
- 42:47Speaker 1: we do with all of our children. We remind them
- 42:49Speaker 1: of their importance and we let so that we validate them.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Only topic can validate them. No one in the street,
- 42:56Speaker 1: no one outside of this home has the authority need
- 43:00Speaker 1: to validate them. That's one, right, And when we validate them,
- 43:04Speaker 1: we validate them with greatness. Uh. And in order for
- 43:07Speaker 1: us to change the trajectory in which we see as
- 43:10Speaker 1: some of the things go right now within the world,
- 43:13Speaker 1: we have to set a standard of greatness in the
- 43:16Speaker 1: mind of our youth. Because once that standard has been
- 43:20Speaker 1: properly placed, they won't be so quick to throw their
- 43:23Speaker 1: lives away. But something that appears to be great in
- 43:27Speaker 1: that moment, right, That's one of the key things is
- 43:31Speaker 1: having something worth having, something worth fighting for right, Well,
- 43:36Speaker 1: were then life to prevent you from making a very
- 43:39Speaker 1: bad decision without right right? You know? The interesting thing
- 43:43Speaker 1: about is that you know as they get older, and
- 43:48Speaker 1: because you have kids watching kids, okay, they see them
- 43:51Speaker 1: they're older, can get away with Okay, now you this
- 43:54Speaker 1: upcoming third season the drivers license, the independence. So so
- 43:59Speaker 1: when talking parenting, now you know parenting, won't on't want though,
- 44:03Speaker 1: you know, just because you see that happened, I don't
- 44:04Speaker 1: mean it's gonna happen for you. Or they said, well
- 44:07Speaker 1: he can do it or she can do it. Why
- 44:09Speaker 1: can't I do it? How are you dealing with that?
- 44:11Speaker 1: I see this? She gets away with that, he gets
- 44:14Speaker 1: here with that? How are you getting here with that?
- 44:15Speaker 1: How are you controlling the yin and the yang in
- 44:17Speaker 1: the house from these kids saying that you favorite him?
- 44:21Speaker 1: You did even do that. I can't do that. I
- 44:23Speaker 1: want to go that. I'm old enough. Respect me. Oh
- 44:27Speaker 1: it's coming up now. This is this season three, this
- 44:29Speaker 1: season three, now, this season three, now, Karen, because I'll
- 44:33Speaker 1: be watching the show, because here's the funny park. When
- 44:35Speaker 1: y'all sitting that sofa, care you'd be looking lively. Then
- 44:39Speaker 1: he'd be on that sofa time, git me sit, git
- 44:43Speaker 1: me laying back on that sofa. He be looking like
- 44:46Speaker 1: he about twenty five years older. He'd be so time.
- 44:49Speaker 1: You don't know, I'd be laughing up my wife looking
- 44:51Speaker 1: at it. Boy, he tied, he tied. He don't care
- 44:54Speaker 1: about the cameras no more, he had forgot their own.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Chara still trying to sit up right then here, I
- 45:00Speaker 1: just I'm on this so for y'all, Honey, supposed to
- 45:04Speaker 1: get my seat away? Hey, hey, hey, you know I'm
- 45:09Speaker 1: telling the truth, Jimmy, she may chain that camera. Pose
- 45:13Speaker 1: she staying um right on that sofar you see you
- 45:16Speaker 1: right there? The boy he can sofa. You leaned back.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Oh he missing as a beer. It's only missing as
- 45:23Speaker 1: a beer. It's beautiful. I love it because of the
- 45:30Speaker 1: fact that that's why I was so excited to talk
- 45:32Speaker 1: to you guys, because it's such a real image of
- 45:37Speaker 1: familihood and the fact that I come from that large
- 45:40Speaker 1: family environment. I know you know when and I'm not
- 45:43Speaker 1: I'm not trying to place you guys, because lord knows,
- 45:46Speaker 1: my parents were not in the real estate. My dad
- 45:49Speaker 1: was a truck driver, third grade education, my mom graduate
- 45:52Speaker 1: from high school. That's that's the life I drove, Race,
- 45:55Speaker 1: not the life that your children are raising it. But
- 45:57Speaker 1: it didn't stop me from being great, stop me from
- 46:00Speaker 1: dreaming and realizing that the impossible as possible. And that's
- 46:04Speaker 1: where we're here on this show all the time. But
- 46:06Speaker 1: as parents tell us, a little bit of what's coming
- 46:08Speaker 1: up this season because I don't want to give away
- 46:10Speaker 1: all the tricks. But it's an interesting season because of
- 46:14Speaker 1: the fact that it's kind of like a coming of
- 46:16Speaker 1: age because you knew you did the first season, and
- 46:19Speaker 1: you learn some things the second season. Not. The kids
- 46:22Speaker 1: kind of know, they know what they know what's going
- 46:26Speaker 1: on now, and they're kind of pitching a little bit
- 46:28Speaker 1: of ideas too, Well, why can't we do this? So
- 46:31Speaker 1: so Daddy talk about controlling this family, holding them down,
- 46:35Speaker 1: keeping them ship ship shape for season three. The ship
- 46:40Speaker 1: shape is something we put in place years ago. Thank god,
- 46:45Speaker 1: you've seen regarding our children on Dubbing Down with the Dricos,
- 46:49Speaker 1: which is on TLC and you can stream us a
- 46:51Speaker 1: Discovery Plus D I ain't about to say goodbye now,
- 46:55Speaker 1: say it's a goodbye. That's a goodbye right there? You
- 46:57Speaker 1: know you're saying all the credits and there thing. Uh
- 47:01Speaker 1: we on TLC doubling Down with the Ricos. Okay, continue,
- 47:07Speaker 1: let me talk to you, Let me talk to you.
- 47:09Speaker 1: He gonna keep talking like that, Karen, is she gonna
- 47:11Speaker 1: talking like you know? He? You know, here an announcer,
- 47:14Speaker 1: Where where's this fun guy? I see on TV he
- 47:17Speaker 1: just went in pr mode. U on TLC is a
- 47:20Speaker 1: family or in his show doubling Down with the Dricos,
- 47:24Speaker 1: he changed his voice and everything where that guy on
- 47:27Speaker 1: the so for tied, that's the guy I want to
- 47:30Speaker 1: talk to. I gotta make it ready for those viewers
- 47:33Speaker 1: of yours is they may not know And so it
- 47:36Speaker 1: had been a minute since the last time you said it,
- 47:38Speaker 1: So we'll continue, sir, I apologize. I apologize, don't worries
- 47:47Speaker 1: so anyway, as I was saying, doubling down every plus.
- 47:54Speaker 1: But one of the things you'll see is you'll see
- 47:57Speaker 1: how we uh deal with the esoterics of having two
- 48:02Speaker 1: year old babies that are being trained and sixteen year
- 48:06Speaker 1: old who wants to drive now yes, and who's still
- 48:09Speaker 1: talking about dating, and that's in between there, that's going
- 48:14Speaker 1: through the many stages. I think one of the things
- 48:16Speaker 1: that's so unique about our show is that we had
- 48:18Speaker 1: and about our family is that we have so many
- 48:21Speaker 1: different ages that we have to cater so much going
- 48:25Speaker 1: on constantly, all at one time, and thank god we
- 48:28Speaker 1: both have each other. I don't know how we would
- 48:30Speaker 1: naviget yeah through it, and we definitely let our children
- 48:33Speaker 1: know that just because one person is doing something doesn't
- 48:37Speaker 1: mean that you get to do something else, Like we
- 48:40Speaker 1: have to find you know, they'll say, well, like how
- 48:42Speaker 1: you said earlier, you know what this one's trying to drip.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I want to get understand when's right when you're not
- 48:46Speaker 1: ready yet, you're not ready to the various reasons, and
- 48:50Speaker 1: we explain it to them and it goes back to
- 48:52Speaker 1: read directing them about what they are, you know, what
- 48:56Speaker 1: they should be doing, what they should be learning, and
- 48:58Speaker 1: just nurturing talents that they have. You know, Darien is
- 49:02Speaker 1: of an age whereas she is, you know, eager to
- 49:04Speaker 1: learn to drive, and that's what Poppy and I are
- 49:06Speaker 1: going to be doing to make sure she learns. And
- 49:07Speaker 1: when you get to that point will also help you, um,
- 49:11Speaker 1: you know, get your driver's from middle license on. However
- 49:14Speaker 1: that is at that time. But meantime, let's focus on
- 49:17Speaker 1: something else right now, and so you know, we make
- 49:20Speaker 1: sure we we we close that up real quick with that.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Oh well, they get to do it, okay, So she
- 49:27Speaker 1: got that tone though she heard it. Oh well, yeah,
- 49:32Speaker 1: absolutely absolutely. We'll be right back with more money Making Conversations.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. Now let's return to Money Making
- 49:44Speaker 1: Conversations Masterclass with Rashan McDonald. You know, the thing about
- 49:49Speaker 1: it is that you know, this is TV, so there's
- 49:53Speaker 1: entertainment that's editing. You know, people create situations, but the
- 49:57Speaker 1: bottom line is just being making sure you're you're don't
- 50:00Speaker 1: get damaged by the process. You know, this is you
- 50:03Speaker 1: know that that's the key because like I will tell you,
- 50:05Speaker 1: they can stop to show the bar, you know, but
- 50:07Speaker 1: you still gotta be great parents. You still got to
- 50:09Speaker 1: provide for them. And and that's what I love about
- 50:12Speaker 1: the show because this is not this is something, this
- 50:15Speaker 1: is a tool and show people that they can parent.
- 50:18Speaker 1: But one thing that I wanted to talk to people
- 50:20Speaker 1: who hadn't saw the shows, and you should watch the show,
- 50:23Speaker 1: tell them how you you you know they have the
- 50:25Speaker 1: chores with the kids, how you have the scheduling, the
- 50:30Speaker 1: mills and everything. So they get the sense of the
- 50:33Speaker 1: level of professionalism that goes into because this is this
- 50:36Speaker 1: is a job. Okay, this is a job. Don't get
- 50:38Speaker 1: a chore. Now, you can't come in there and problem
- 50:41Speaker 1: with fourteen kids. You can't in problem with fourteen kids.
- 50:44Speaker 1: And so because if they do it the kids to
- 50:47Speaker 1: see it that the kids are smart. They see things
- 50:49Speaker 1: that you they remember things that you may have thought
- 50:53Speaker 1: they didn't even see. And so how does how does
- 50:56Speaker 1: the chores the chores and happen, and how does the
- 50:59Speaker 1: whole of the meals and getting them up and getting
- 51:03Speaker 1: them ready at work, Because like you said, you have
- 51:05Speaker 1: different age groups, so different age group of me, you
- 51:08Speaker 1: have to treat them all differently. Yes, yes, so mommy
- 51:12Speaker 1: works with getting them up in the morning. Again, mommy
- 51:15Speaker 1: does the homeschooling, so she works them up setting that up.
- 51:18Speaker 1: And then I'm the cook in the house, so I'll
- 51:21Speaker 1: start getting their breakfast together and their lunch and of
- 51:24Speaker 1: course dinner. But of course I'm doing it, you know,
- 51:26Speaker 1: as a day progresses, and every child, every human being
- 51:32Speaker 1: in this house has a responsibility to the house right,
- 51:36Speaker 1: no pree ride. And that's for many, many, many reasons
- 51:40Speaker 1: why we do that, because we're teaching them how to
- 51:43Speaker 1: work with the team, and we are their first team.
- 51:47Speaker 1: And so saying that even the younger babies will go
- 51:50Speaker 1: put trash, and you know something in the trash, we'll
- 51:52Speaker 1: get a diner or full up where everyone is doing something.
- 51:57Speaker 1: And it also creates that camaraderie amongst the family. And
- 52:01Speaker 1: so there's so many different levels to this thing. I
- 52:04Speaker 1: mean this this conversation is not even long enough for
- 52:07Speaker 1: us to have it for me to catch you up
- 52:09Speaker 1: on all the things that we do. But mommy has
- 52:11Speaker 1: a great system. I just you know, they're homeschool to
- 52:15Speaker 1: do a wonderful homeschool blended program. So they're everyone is
- 52:18Speaker 1: you know, up by seven thirty, um, in front of
- 52:22Speaker 1: their laptop. Two start school at nine, School is over
- 52:27Speaker 1: at twelve. We start homework. We're done by three, and
- 52:31Speaker 1: then by five dinner is um getting in our belly.
- 52:36Speaker 1: That that family time. And then by thirty everyone is
- 52:40Speaker 1: in the bed. And so when we try to do
- 52:42Speaker 1: as much as we can throughout the day and coordinate
- 52:45Speaker 1: effective communication, texting each other, Hey I got disappointment, I
- 52:49Speaker 1: got that one or this one. You know, we're constantly
- 52:51Speaker 1: talking about that, and then um, we try to have
- 52:54Speaker 1: a little mean time at night, which ends up probably
- 52:57Speaker 1: watching us the television, the night news watching us, but um,
- 53:02Speaker 1: and we just try to get that that time like
- 53:04Speaker 1: that you threw that in y'all just and fell asleep
- 53:06Speaker 1: in front of television. See I do that look watching us.
- 53:09Speaker 1: I do that. Look, that's that's a grown folks were
- 53:11Speaker 1: tied line watching us, news watching us. Don't care, don't try.
- 53:18Speaker 1: I'm a whole school care you can't slip them lives
- 53:20Speaker 1: back as a whole school and like me now news
- 53:23Speaker 1: watching us. We know we we tried, but wake up
- 53:26Speaker 1: is old school. We wake up just the flag and
- 53:29Speaker 1: beyond back in the den in the sixties, you know,
- 53:35Speaker 1: one of the key promotional moments of you guys, go move.
- 53:38Speaker 1: It's promoting the fact that moving to South Carolina, which
- 53:41Speaker 1: I love South Carolina by the way, Charles to South
- 53:44Speaker 1: Carolina is one of my favorite city, low country everybody,
- 53:47Speaker 1: good food, good people, good atmosphere. And that was that
- 53:53Speaker 1: a planned part or was it three years ago? Was
- 53:55Speaker 1: that a played decision to move or how did that
- 53:59Speaker 1: come about? Well? I lost my grandmother. Um, I lost
- 54:05Speaker 1: my grandmother and my uncle within six months time period
- 54:10Speaker 1: and COVID and that was just a lot. And you
- 54:14Speaker 1: already know when someone passes as a way of course
- 54:16Speaker 1: it you know, death mix the living reflect on their
- 54:19Speaker 1: life and the life. And so when that happened, I
- 54:22Speaker 1: had a conversation with Drico and just talked to him
- 54:26Speaker 1: and let them know that, you know, we're far away.
- 54:28Speaker 1: My children don't really know a lot of my side
- 54:30Speaker 1: of the family m due to the fact that we
- 54:33Speaker 1: live so far away, and I wouldn't mind moving closer home,
- 54:37Speaker 1: but it had to make sense. So that's when I,
- 54:39Speaker 1: you know, brought about the business idea to Drico and
- 54:44Speaker 1: Um and we just started talking about it. And Drico,
- 54:47Speaker 1: who's a phenomenal husband, I had a recent stroke scare
- 54:51Speaker 1: on last season, and he was like, you know, whatever
- 54:54Speaker 1: you want to do, baby, I'll do it. You know.
- 54:56Speaker 1: He was just one of those those moments where we're like,
- 54:59Speaker 1: oh my god, think died and it wasn't a stroke
- 55:01Speaker 1: and ended up being a muscle spasm and talking about that,
- 55:07Speaker 1: and that's how it came about, you know, just do
- 55:10Speaker 1: we move back home or how do we do this right?
- 55:13Speaker 1: And then when you make it the move because you
- 55:15Speaker 1: know you're still these are the decisions they made together,
- 55:18Speaker 1: but they still impact you. Could they make your mind
- 55:21Speaker 1: role because that wasn't a part of your process because
- 55:24Speaker 1: you know, you're carrying me in a planners. You know,
- 55:27Speaker 1: we're playing stuff and you know it's like driving with
- 55:29Speaker 1: no direction. We'll just keep driving and try to get there.
- 55:32Speaker 1: And so so when this plan in his mind, he
- 55:35Speaker 1: had a plan. So she brought this plan to you,
- 55:38Speaker 1: how did you you know, processing in your brain and
- 55:42Speaker 1: said this, this is something that good for the entire family.
- 55:45Speaker 1: Is something we had to do because this is the
- 55:47Speaker 1: woman I love, and and the and the mother my
- 55:50Speaker 1: fourteen kids. Absolutely so, m that's a very good question,
- 55:54Speaker 1: one of them things one of my makers terms of course,
- 55:57Speaker 1: as you just said, this mother of my children and
- 55:59Speaker 1: that's her husband. I have a respond to listen to
- 56:03Speaker 1: what you know she wants to do, try to put
- 56:05Speaker 1: it in a forum that works for everyone. Right. So,
- 56:10Speaker 1: but at the same time, you know, we're having pushed
- 56:12Speaker 1: back from you know, some of the other family members,
- 56:14Speaker 1: like some of the children said, I have Eric and Gig,
- 56:17Speaker 1: they're not really into doing it. So the job is
- 56:21Speaker 1: trying to find that happy spot in the middle. And
- 56:25Speaker 1: then remember I'm a businessman, so I'm an investor. That's
- 56:29Speaker 1: how a family And so when she mentioned it, I
- 56:32Speaker 1: thought it was a very good idea from a financial perspective.
- 56:35Speaker 1: If we're able to secure the financial backing, if we're
- 56:39Speaker 1: able to funding from the right investors, I could see it.
- 56:43Speaker 1: They're very lucrative. So for me, I was torn with
- 56:47Speaker 1: I want to stay here in Vegas, but this is
- 56:49Speaker 1: a very lucrative opportunity for us to create something great
- 56:54Speaker 1: for our family, and I love her for having such
- 56:57Speaker 1: a great idea. So of course it's battling, and that's
- 57:00Speaker 1: what you're gonna see is the battle between I want
- 57:03Speaker 1: to do it for the financial freedom that it would
- 57:06Speaker 1: give us, yes, sir, But time I'm torn between one
- 57:09Speaker 1: of the state bakers, myself plus the rest of the
- 57:11Speaker 1: family want to stay here and we'll be able to
- 57:14Speaker 1: find enough financial securing or backing to make such a
- 57:18Speaker 1: thing happen. So there's a lot that has to get
- 57:21Speaker 1: figured out that we still have not figured out. Okay,
- 57:23Speaker 1: let me say that right still, but there's a lot
- 57:27Speaker 1: to deal with. And you know, as being as she
- 57:29Speaker 1: and I we're the heads of the house, right so
- 57:31Speaker 1: we have always been on one chord at some point.
- 57:34Speaker 1: So we're we're working that thing out. Yeah, we're getting
- 57:37Speaker 1: the stay workout, but you're gonna have I got to
- 57:40Speaker 1: wrap it up there. They little think out the little
- 57:42Speaker 1: chat when it gets popped up on the screen. Five minutes, y'all,
- 57:45Speaker 1: got it. Yeah, y'all been talking to it long. Y'all
- 57:47Speaker 1: been having a good time. You know. Usually they didn't
- 57:49Speaker 1: threat me like I can't talk to y'all. Now they're
- 57:51Speaker 1: telling me that I got to stop talking to y'all.
- 57:53Speaker 1: You know. That's how they're doing when you're having fun
- 57:55Speaker 1: the care But I love y'all. I don't want to lose.
- 57:58Speaker 1: And if you privilege because I want to be back
- 58:00Speaker 1: for season four with the doubling Down with the Rico
- 58:06Speaker 1: and on t let me get that voice right for
- 58:09Speaker 1: you know, could be like the you know we're on
- 58:11Speaker 1: TLC show, Doubling Down with the Drico's a fan favorite series,
- 58:15Speaker 1: is air in season three and uh, we'll be going
- 58:18Speaker 1: through all type of things and kids, you know, trying
- 58:21Speaker 1: to get drivers licensed China. The fifteen year olds just
- 58:23Speaker 1: out of control. But you know I'm Pops over here.
- 58:26Speaker 1: You'll mess with pops mom over here. She got the
- 58:28Speaker 1: four year old trip list, you know, the preschool and
- 58:30Speaker 1: got potty training and all this stuff. But going to
- 58:33Speaker 1: Dissy Landing, I gotta move either from Vegas, South Carolina
- 58:36Speaker 1: fighting off the mosquitoes down to South Carolina. Have y'all
- 58:38Speaker 1: been in South Carolina, Mosquito, the Biggest Birds. I love you.
- 58:44Speaker 1: I want to thank y'all for coming on this show
