  I'm thinking today of Proverbs chapter 23, verse

  5. It says, When you set your eyes on it, it

  is gone, for wealth certainly makes itself wings,

  like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.

  Well, this verse is definitely talking about
• 0:13
  money, but also it's talking about focus. It's
• 0:16
  about what you give your attention to, where
• 0:18
  you put your eyes. And so it seems it's saying
• 0:21
  that if you put your eyes a lot on something,
• 0:24
  you could say any blessing, not just money. If
• 0:26
  you put your eyes and focus your eyes on that
• 0:28
  thing, if you want more money, You want more
• 0:30
  better relationships, or you want people to behave
• 0:32
  a certain way, or you want something to go on
• 0:33
  in your job, whatever. And as that thing comes,
• 0:36
  you're very focused on it. Then this verse is
• 0:38
  basically saying the tendency of it is to take
• 0:40
  flight and to be gone. When it comes to money,
• 0:42
  money is always kind of coming or going. The
• 0:45
  state of how much money we have is changing on
• 0:47
  a fairly regular basis. The resources that we
• 0:50
  receive from God, the blessings that we receive
• 0:52
  from God, have a pretty select purpose. They
• 0:54
  are that we might share with others as God leads.

  we might glorify God for the receiving and use
• 1:01
  those blessings to build our relationship with
• 1:03
  him to the best of our ability, that we might
• 1:05
  always look back to the giver. The tendency might
• 1:08
  be to get focused on the blessing, turn it into
• 1:10
  an idol, and it's just not meant to be. We don't
• 1:13
  worship things, good, bad, ugly, whatever. If
• 1:16
  there's a lot of it, if there isn't, if it seems
• 1:18
  powerful, if it doesn't, if it seems like you
• 1:20
  need it, if it seems like you don't, whatever.

  We don't worship those things. They are literally
• 1:25
  worth nothing to us compared to the God of heaven.

  who gives us all that we desire, if our hearts
• 1:30
  are in line with his desire for us. Praise the
• 1:33
  Lord today.
