- 2:40Speaker 1: faith and love and the redemptive power of music. And Finally,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Kurt Franklin executive duced a new holiday movie. I just
- 2:47Speaker 1: saw the day they gave me an earlier look at
- 2:49Speaker 1: it outstanding Kurt Franklin's a Gospel Christmas with Premiere, which
- 2:53Speaker 1: premieres on December fourth on Lifetime. The Lifetime movie stars
- 2:58Speaker 1: Dmitria McKinney. You've heard on our show many times, Regina Bell,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and my boy I met him when he was a teenager.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Chas Lamar Shephard, Please work with the money. Mad conversation.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I got a lot to say because he's doing a lot.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Kurt Franklin, Kurt, Kurt, Kurt Brother, Kurt Man, I'm gonna
- 3:21Speaker 1: say your name like that, man, because you know when
- 3:23Speaker 1: you go to the mountaintop and you want to hear
- 3:24Speaker 1: people here good news. You just repeated, you repeated, repeated,
- 3:29Speaker 1: Kurt Franklin. Man, just transition, brother, Let's let's let's just
- 3:33Speaker 1: talk with the fall in love. It was released November
- 3:36Speaker 1: five with Mariah you Khalid and one point five million
- 3:43Speaker 1: views so far and climbing. Talk about putting that together,
- 3:49Speaker 1: talk about the importance of that particular, you know, because
- 3:51Speaker 1: MRA has the all time Christmas song record and now
- 3:55Speaker 1: you're doing a Christmas song with us, so you you're
- 3:58Speaker 1: working with a Christmas legend. Talk about that. Yeah, yeah, man,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I was. First of all, it's great seeing you. It's
- 4:05Speaker 1: great seeing my brother who's been so supported my entire career,
- 4:08Speaker 1: that's been there from day one, and I'm just very
- 4:11Speaker 1: honored to be able to be a part of your continuing,
- 4:14Speaker 1: uh just career and legacy and so uh, it's always
- 4:18Speaker 1: beautiful to connect with a brother who you've looked up
- 4:21Speaker 1: to for so long. Um. Yeah, the Mariah Carey project came. Um,
- 4:27Speaker 1: she invited me to write along with her and her
- 4:32Speaker 1: writing partner, and so I went to her home and
- 4:37Speaker 1: she showed me where they were with the song and
- 4:39Speaker 1: it felt good, and they just kind of wanted to
- 4:42Speaker 1: have some different moments in the song, and so I
- 4:45Speaker 1: said that at the piano kind of just through some
- 4:47Speaker 1: ideas and where we could go with the song, how
- 4:49Speaker 1: we could, you know, maybe even do some different things
- 4:51Speaker 1: in the bridge, and then I had a whole idea
- 4:54Speaker 1: for a vamp kind of like a tape cattle. I
- 4:56Speaker 1: could take him to church vamp, you know. And so um,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I sat down. It's kind of through some ideas, and
- 5:02Speaker 1: so we co wrote the record together and and I
- 5:07Speaker 1: and I brought it back to Dallas, and I put
- 5:09Speaker 1: my band on it, put my singers on it, kinda
- 5:11Speaker 1: did my thing, and uh, I mean, she really loved it.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And it's really humbling for her to be able to
- 5:16Speaker 1: really connect with it like that. And um yeah, and
- 5:20Speaker 1: and I then uh colead jumped on it and they
- 5:24Speaker 1: were super dope. He's a great young talent and so
- 5:27Speaker 1: and so yeah, it's a great opportunity to just to
- 5:31Speaker 1: continue to try to have the conversation about you know, man,
- 5:34Speaker 1: how gospel music in the community did not come from
- 5:37Speaker 1: uh and just just the gravity and just the breath
- 5:41Speaker 1: of the people in it, and and and how viable
- 5:45Speaker 1: gospel music style and the message in just the community
- 5:49Speaker 1: is when it comes to any area of music, it
- 5:52Speaker 1: could be pop music, it could be hip, public can
- 5:54Speaker 1: be country. Wherever it is, this music can live there.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Because you're talking about a part of America. And so
- 6:01Speaker 1: you know to not own is it the good News
- 6:02Speaker 1: of Jesus christis also music that is the foundation of
- 6:06Speaker 1: American music, is the foundation of black experience here and
- 6:11Speaker 1: uh in Western civilization. And so because of that, you
- 6:16Speaker 1: could always see it's it's it's it's influence and you
- 6:21Speaker 1: can always see uh it's impact even now. I mean,
- 6:25Speaker 1: every pop artist, every hip hop artist, their band are
- 6:29Speaker 1: a bunch of church musicians. I mean, I was at
- 6:31Speaker 1: a Snoop's mother's funeral this past week. Snoop asked me
- 6:34Speaker 1: to do the music for his mother's funeral, and the
- 6:37Speaker 1: whole and his whole band there's church guys. That's why
- 6:39Speaker 1: I would able to just and I didn't have one rehearsal.
- 6:43Speaker 1: I didn't have one rehearsal. I just jumped on the
- 6:45Speaker 1: piano with the singers and we were able to go
- 6:47Speaker 1: from some about the name Jesus to to to my
- 6:52Speaker 1: life is in your hands, because I mean, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 1: we all speak that same language. And so it was
- 6:58Speaker 1: really exciting to bring that six uh music and to
- 7:03Speaker 1: the Maraack harry a song. And it's very humbling to
- 7:06Speaker 1: bring that that essence of culture music to even now
- 7:12Speaker 1: scripted programming and to visual to visual platforms like uh,
- 7:17Speaker 1: Kirk Franklin's and Gospel Christmas. You got too much. You're
- 7:21Speaker 1: gonna slide through these different things. I gotta stop on
- 7:24Speaker 1: great moments. Now you're out there with you. Something I had,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I had mariad carry coming down the Dallas and mix
- 7:31Speaker 1: it up with the band, and I was a Snoop
- 7:33Speaker 1: Dogg and played with the band and then you know
- 7:35Speaker 1: something about the name of Jesus who he knows. That's
- 7:38Speaker 1: my all time favorite Kirk Franklin song right there. He's
- 7:41Speaker 1: just gonna slide past that, you know, unfortunately delivered as
- 7:45Speaker 1: a sad moment for Snoop Dogg. But that's an inspirational song.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And let you know, there is, uh, there is, there's
- 7:50Speaker 1: guidance for us in our sad moments, and that type
- 7:53Speaker 1: of music that you produced over years creates that. But
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'm looking at this video, man. First of all, I'm
- 7:58Speaker 1: kind of mad because Maria carry don't age. She don't age. Man.
- 8:04Speaker 1: I'm looking at going, Okay, really, Maria, really you're gonna
- 8:06Speaker 1: do it like this? And then then but then I'm enjoying.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I'm enjoying the video, right, Kurt. And then all of
- 8:12Speaker 1: a sudden and then all a sudden, Kirk, you you
- 8:15Speaker 1: kirtified it. You know what I'm saying. You know you're doing. Man,
- 8:19Speaker 1: come on there with that Kurt tone. I love it man, absolutely,
- 8:25Speaker 1: Hey man, because you have a style, man, you have
- 8:27Speaker 1: a presence. Man, you have a and that that that brand.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Let's talk about that Kurt Franklin brand. Because like I said,
- 8:34Speaker 1: it's really when I set up and think about we
- 8:36Speaker 1: have been on this journey together. Man. You know you
- 8:39Speaker 1: know b T celebrations of gospel. Man, we both Texas boys,
- 8:44Speaker 1: you know, all journey, different TV shows that you did
- 8:47Speaker 1: or when I was doing Sister Sister, all these different things,
- 8:50Speaker 1: movie ideas. We kicked back and forth. But what is
- 8:53Speaker 1: the Kurt Franklin brand Man that you that you built man,
- 8:56Speaker 1: because you built through your your honesty, go through your
- 9:01Speaker 1: you know you performance. You was injured and you you
- 9:04Speaker 1: cover from that. So that's a journey in life and
- 9:07Speaker 1: you've been out there. But this brand is just growing.
- 9:10Speaker 1: That's school. It's going to allow us to talk about
- 9:12Speaker 1: these television productions that are coming up. Talk about that
- 9:15Speaker 1: kurk Franklin brain. Oh well, you know this is going
- 9:19Speaker 1: to probably the part of the interview that we're going
- 9:21Speaker 1: to suck at the most, because I mean, you know
- 9:24Speaker 1: me better than anyone you know in this space, and
- 9:27Speaker 1: I am unapologetic in my faith. I'm unapologetic in my
- 9:31Speaker 1: Christian faith and I and I try to very hard
- 9:34Speaker 1: to live it more than I preach. It is because
- 9:36Speaker 1: I think people would rather see a sermon rather than
- 9:40Speaker 1: here sermon any day. And so I really believe, well
- 9:46Speaker 1: unapologetic lead that everything that I'm blessed to do, it's
- 9:51Speaker 1: all by the grace and kindness of the Lord. I mean,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I'm not that smart, I'm not that genius to have
- 9:58Speaker 1: this strategy. And there may be other people that are
- 10:01Speaker 1: like that, but not me. I mean I am, I
- 10:04Speaker 1: am totally Whatever whatever I've been blessed to do or
- 10:09Speaker 1: whatever I desire to do is it's all because of
- 10:12Speaker 1: the Lord's kindness. It's it's it's not I don't have
- 10:15Speaker 1: a rim and you know I don't. I don't have
- 10:17Speaker 1: ingredients of songwriting. These are songs that God loans me.
- 10:20Speaker 1: These are these are these are moments I try to
- 10:23Speaker 1: be a good steward over um. One of my manchuris
- 10:26Speaker 1: in life that one of my mentors. Dr Tony Evans
- 10:29Speaker 1: taught me is I'm a manager of everything, but I'm
- 10:32Speaker 1: an owner of nothing. That everything, that everything belongs to God.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And so I'm just a steward. I'm just a manager
- 10:40Speaker 1: of moments and so um, you know, and and and
- 10:46Speaker 1: I align with that ideal, those those those those constructs
- 10:51Speaker 1: of what I subscribe to. And it's it's by the
- 10:56Speaker 1: grace and kindness of Christ. And so you know, I
- 10:59Speaker 1: care when he was talking because Dr Tony Evans, he
- 11:03Speaker 1: was on my show last week and the Priscilla Shire
- 11:05Speaker 1: and her son and and then you know, it's just
- 11:09Speaker 1: watching my show Shift. You know, it's about money making conversations,
- 11:12Speaker 1: but it's about life. It's about journeys and things like that.
- 11:15Speaker 1: When I look at what you're doing. Um, the movie
- 11:17Speaker 1: I saw, you know the stars uh um McKinney and
- 11:21Speaker 1: stars chas Lamar Shephard and Regina Bear comes up fire
- 11:24Speaker 1: at the very top of its you know, leading the
- 11:27Speaker 1: church and strong women and female characters. That's what that
- 11:31Speaker 1: was My number one takeaway from this particular project was
- 11:35Speaker 1: that was that was that a purposeful motion of uh
- 11:40Speaker 1: take on this particular script. You wanted to do a
- 11:42Speaker 1: movie that that show women, especially Black women, empowered in
- 11:46Speaker 1: this manner because they are very very a directive their
- 11:50Speaker 1: short leadership. They're showing sensitivity, they're showing arms, all these things.
- 11:54Speaker 1: That's my number one takeaway from this, which I thought
- 11:56Speaker 1: was fantastic. Yeah, that is no doubt a man date
- 12:00Speaker 1: for Lifetime. Lifetime is very committed to UH, to diversity
- 12:05Speaker 1: and to be able to give women, especially women of color,
- 12:08Speaker 1: opportunities in front of the camera, behind the camera, and
- 12:12Speaker 1: so um um it is UH very much intentional. And
- 12:17Speaker 1: and even from from the writer of the movie to
- 12:21Speaker 1: the UH to other EPs that repeying de parject with
- 12:26Speaker 1: me Tracy Tweinaky Bird and uh Leslie Grief and and
- 12:30Speaker 1: and and just so many others, is is that it
- 12:33Speaker 1: is it is intentional to be able to show the
- 12:36Speaker 1: diversity of who we are as people of color. And
- 12:39Speaker 1: I even think that Lifetime even allowing me to brand
- 12:44Speaker 1: the movie Kirk Franklin's and Gospel Christmas shows even their
- 12:47Speaker 1: commitment to diversity to even genres UH to be able
- 12:52Speaker 1: to show that there's a viability within the space, to
- 12:57Speaker 1: be able to bring to even allow somebody from my
- 13:00Speaker 1: community to be able to to Brandon movie that they
- 13:04Speaker 1: spent millions of dollars to make is something that I'm
- 13:06Speaker 1: very humbled of and and I and I and I
- 13:09Speaker 1: prayed that the community comes out and supports it to
- 13:12Speaker 1: be able to show UH networks is because you and
- 13:16Speaker 1: I both know I'm uh. You know, TV and film
- 13:19Speaker 1: they're not in the missionary business. You know, their money business,
- 13:25Speaker 1: and so and so it is very important that if
- 13:28Speaker 1: we want uh inspirational and aspirational entertainment, that we've got
- 13:33Speaker 1: to show up. That we've got to be able to
- 13:35Speaker 1: show up in the numbers. Like for example, in Lifetime
- 13:39Speaker 1: was the number one holiday movie destination, but over seventy
- 13:43Speaker 1: one eight million viewers of watching this type of programming
- 13:47Speaker 1: for the holidays. And so with Kirk Franklins of Gospel Christmas,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I would really love to show them that people really
- 13:54Speaker 1: love this genre of music and that they're going to
- 13:56Speaker 1: show up because they get excited like this. This movie
- 14:01Speaker 1: will feature reimagined versions of Christmas songs from my Christmas
- 14:06Speaker 1: album You've Met Me, the Christmas album in n and
- 14:09Speaker 1: so the theme of the script was built around songs
- 14:15Speaker 1: from my Christmas album and they've been reimagined for this movie,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and so it's gonna be super dope and it's it's
- 14:23Speaker 1: going to be a very good snuggy movie. Get you
- 14:26Speaker 1: some hot co co and uh and put your one
- 14:30Speaker 1: z on. We'll be right back from more money making
- 14:32Speaker 1: conversation with sixteen times Grammy Award winning gospel singer, arranger
- 14:36Speaker 1: and producer Kurt Franklin. It's finally here, the season of celebration,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,
- 14:44Speaker 1: whether you're preparing for reys, magos or Karamu lighting the Manura,
- 14:48Speaker 1: are going to midnight mass, Coals has just what you
- 14:51Speaker 1: need to make those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts

- 15:10Speaker 1: top brands like Nike, Adidas, and under Armour. And in
- 15:14Speaker 1: the spirit of giving, Coals Cares is donating eight million
- 15:17Speaker 1: dollars to local nonprofits nationwide committed to the health and

- 15:37Speaker 1: and we're here to change that. I'm April Dinuity, host

- 16:00Speaker 1: service as administration for Children and Families and the ad Council.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Look to your children's eyes to see the true magic
- 16:07Speaker 1: of a forest. It's a storybook world for them. You
- 16:10Speaker 1: look and see a tree. They see the wrinkled face
- 16:13Speaker 1: of a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky. They
- 16:17Speaker 1: see treasure and pebbles. They see a windy path that
- 16:20Speaker 1: could lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Is this fascinating world? Find a forest near you and
- 16:28Speaker 1: start exploring and discover the forest dot Org, brought to
- 16:31Speaker 1: you by the United States Forest Service and the AD Council.
- 16:34Speaker 1: This is what Sean McDonald. Welcome back to money making
- 16:37Speaker 1: Conversations as I continue my conversation with sixteen time Grammy
- 16:41Speaker 1: Award winning gospel singer, songwriter, arranger and producer Kurt Franklin.
- 16:46Speaker 1: First of all, you know it's a romance. You know
- 16:48Speaker 1: it's romance and attractive reads Charles Lamar shipperd Like I said,
- 16:53Speaker 1: it's Charles Shipper. Before we go back to Steve Harvey
- 16:56Speaker 1: and I when we did his very first sitcom, Me
- 16:58Speaker 1: and the Boys, back in ninety four. Shepherd was one
- 17:02Speaker 1: of the kids on the show. So I've been doing
- 17:04Speaker 1: Chance all the way back to this ninety four. And
- 17:08Speaker 1: then uh Dmitria McKinney, I've been knowing us on my show.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I met her wonderful son, she's a powerful single mom.
- 17:16Speaker 1: And then Regina mal So when I when I watched
- 17:18Speaker 1: a show like this, like I said, I just had
- 17:21Speaker 1: Kelly Rowland and uh Brecia Webb on the show talking
- 17:24Speaker 1: about their Lifetime project and one of the reason I
- 17:28Speaker 1: bringing up up in the interviews that Lifetime is making
- 17:31Speaker 1: a commit meant to diversity like you were saying, this
- 17:34Speaker 1: is not a woman. They're comfortable with putting us people
- 17:38Speaker 1: of color on their network. That's important for us to see, correct,
- 17:43Speaker 1: very important. But just because we we we have heard
- 17:48Speaker 1: what's been coined as this new uh phrase, But it's
- 17:52Speaker 1: really true across all cultural UH format is that representation
- 17:58Speaker 1: matters and soul that matters in any aspect. Uh. It's
- 18:05Speaker 1: not on the gender uh, gender equality, but it's also
- 18:09Speaker 1: race equality and and so uh these things matter. These
- 18:13Speaker 1: these these things matter to also be able to address
- 18:16Speaker 1: some of the key line things that systemically divide us,
- 18:20Speaker 1: like socio economic equality or disparity. And so when when
- 18:24Speaker 1: black folk are able to write scripts and to be
- 18:27Speaker 1: behind the camera and to work on movies, then now
- 18:30Speaker 1: what you're doing is that you're making that that playground
- 18:34Speaker 1: a a more more more fair opportunity for all people.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Is because you're not only seeing us with with needs
- 18:43Speaker 1: on our next in the street. You're saying that we
- 18:45Speaker 1: want to be able to show a bigger image of
- 18:48Speaker 1: the hopefulness that can come from a community of people, well,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you know, the beauty of you know, like I was mentioned,
- 18:55Speaker 1: like I was interviewing Dr Tony Evans, based out of Dallas,
- 18:59Speaker 1: is about his doctor humanity and his journey and and
- 19:03Speaker 1: what I call him as a visual Bible is beautiful
- 19:06Speaker 1: going back to Israel with his family and all this stuff,
- 19:08Speaker 1: and his wife is in it before she passed away
- 19:11Speaker 1: and said Daddy who's recently passed away. So it's an
- 19:15Speaker 1: emotional story. But what I want to say is that
- 19:18Speaker 1: never in my life have I seen this amount of
- 19:21Speaker 1: a black culture on so many different unique mainstreams, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 1: And that's the beauty of where we're living at Kirk
- 19:28Speaker 1: And for you to be a person who you know,
- 19:30Speaker 1: who has come through the lens of music and music
- 19:34Speaker 1: allows you to produce videos and be a part of
- 19:36Speaker 1: that directorial. And one of I'm telling that one of
- 19:39Speaker 1: the all time great funny entertaining videos was when Kurt
- 19:43Speaker 1: spoofed himself with Steve Harvey back. If y'all find that video,
- 19:46Speaker 1: that's one of the funniest videos of all time. When
- 19:48Speaker 1: they do a spoof of Eddie Murphett, that's one of
- 19:54Speaker 1: the all time This brother, he is very funny. I
- 19:57Speaker 1: just popped in my head when I'm thinking about your
- 19:59Speaker 1: laughing about that man. But when you look at these transitions. Man,
- 20:03Speaker 1: Now you're about to do a shoe eight episode series
- 20:06Speaker 1: that explores the gospel music industry through the Lens family, faith, love,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and redemptive power of music. That's the power of gospel
- 20:15Speaker 1: music is the redemptive power. That's what I got out
- 20:18Speaker 1: of the show your movie that I was just watching.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You know, Kirk Franklin's Our Gospel Christmas is redemptive because
- 20:24Speaker 1: of the fact that in her she doubted herself, she
- 20:28Speaker 1: didn't believe she could accomplish her task that her parents
- 20:31Speaker 1: knew she could do. And that's really powerful content for
- 20:35Speaker 1: young people to see, and especially for black people to see. Yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 20:39Speaker 1: it's that. I think that that that that the the
- 20:44Speaker 1: narrative of the black experience in North America is so
- 20:49Speaker 1: transferable uh over socio economic lines uh um uh religious lines, uh,
- 21:00Speaker 1: lines of academia and scholarship. Is because as people of color,
- 21:06Speaker 1: we speak these the secret languages, these these these these
- 21:10Speaker 1: waves and and and and and these energies that that
- 21:15Speaker 1: are just transferable to our people. We we we know
- 21:19Speaker 1: what this means. You know, we know what this means.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, you know, you know, you know,
- 21:28Speaker 1: you know and and we understand it. If you went
- 21:31Speaker 1: to an h B c U or if you went
- 21:33Speaker 1: to an Ivy League school, you understand the heartbeat of
- 21:36Speaker 1: our people and soul for Hollywood two uh, to not
- 21:44Speaker 1: always continue to appropriate our experience, but to include us
- 21:49Speaker 1: in our own stories. Um, it just makes for a
- 21:54Speaker 1: for for for a more civil society when people feel
- 21:58Speaker 1: like they matter and they're spearences are not being plagiarized,
- 22:02Speaker 1: but but but they are being they are being compensated
- 22:07Speaker 1: for the uniqueness of how God made Before we get
- 22:11Speaker 1: into the drama series Kingdom, um, Kingdom Business. Now the
- 22:16Speaker 1: Apple TV plus that you're doing with Mariah Carey Kalig,
- 22:21Speaker 1: what exactly is that? And it follows the line of Christmas.
- 22:24Speaker 1: What exactly is that there's gonna air in December? Yeah, well,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I mean we all know that Maria carriss Christmas song
- 22:30Speaker 1: is the biggest, biggest Christmas song in history. UM, her
- 22:33Speaker 1: single All I Want for Christmas as You. And so
- 22:36Speaker 1: with this new single that we were part of, she
- 22:40Speaker 1: she presented a or she's going to be a part
- 22:43Speaker 1: of a a Christmas special that's featuring her and it's
- 22:47Speaker 1: gonna be a big production for Apple TV for for
- 22:51Speaker 1: the Christmas holidays, and you'll be able to get to
- 22:54Speaker 1: watch it. And of course me and and and uh
- 22:57Speaker 1: Kalig will be performing song and it's a major production.
- 23:02Speaker 1: She's going to be doing several different songs and so
- 23:04Speaker 1: it's a big event. It's going to be a big
- 23:06Speaker 1: event for Apple Plus. And uh there's no release state
- 23:11Speaker 1: for it yet. Apple wants it to be something that
- 23:14Speaker 1: is kind of a shock value moment. But it will
- 23:17Speaker 1: be the only place that you'll be able to see
- 23:19Speaker 1: the performance of us three together for the song. Uh,
- 23:22Speaker 1: it's an exclusive performance and so it's gonna be a
- 23:25Speaker 1: a very big night once again for the coaching. And
- 23:30Speaker 1: now let's go on to my main you know, Kingdom
- 23:33Speaker 1: Business eight episodes. Okay, Holly Carter, you know the Franklin
- 23:40Speaker 1: Franklin come on now, talk to talk about this new series. Man. Yeah, man,
- 23:45Speaker 1: we were working on this project for about three years,
- 23:48Speaker 1: just just um, just working on development. Uh sack Mere
- 23:53Speaker 1: and Uh Sackman and Lane Heart are two beautiful white
- 23:57Speaker 1: brothers that had the scripted that had a story about
- 24:03Speaker 1: gospel music and faith and challenges and drama and and
- 24:08Speaker 1: and just the realities of of of of like real
- 24:12Speaker 1: life experiences, uh that are all the backdrop of this
- 24:17Speaker 1: incredible opportunity for music. I'm also the mutic man and
- 24:21Speaker 1: also one of the executive produces. I'm the music supervisor
- 24:23Speaker 1: and so, uh, by God's great, I'm writing new music
- 24:27Speaker 1: for every episode, every scene. Uh that that that gospel
- 24:31Speaker 1: music is now being a part of telling bigger stories.
- 24:34Speaker 1: And so like you hear music uh in the episodes
- 24:38Speaker 1: that are that are from from the culture, but they
- 24:43Speaker 1: speak to the moments that that that the script requires.
- 24:47Speaker 1: And it was a wonderful opportunity. It was hard. I'm
- 24:50Speaker 1: in the studio right now finishing one of the songs
- 24:53Speaker 1: right now. I was here to five o'clock this morning,
- 24:55Speaker 1: just kind of finishing episode. And I'm back today for
- 24:58Speaker 1: the band and singers while doing interviews for for Kirk
- 25:03Speaker 1: Franker's The Gospel Christmas. So, you know, it's it's it's
- 25:06Speaker 1: it's been a lot of work because Kingdom business is
- 25:09Speaker 1: a it's it's uh, it's it's episodic, so you know,
- 25:15Speaker 1: you know, so so you're having to wait on the
- 25:18Speaker 1: scripts to be able to know that what's happening, you know.
- 25:21Speaker 1: And I've got a couple and and I'm also a
- 25:24Speaker 1: character in in a in a in a few of
- 25:26Speaker 1: the episodes, I make these cameos as a very left
- 25:30Speaker 1: of center character. It's not it's not what's what's what's
- 25:34Speaker 1: suspected of me? And so you know, just it's I
- 25:38Speaker 1: just let me tell you what my modus operandi is
- 25:41Speaker 1: a life. I mean, everything we've talked about today, the
- 25:44Speaker 1: bottom line is what I want, my friend, Sean as
- 25:47Speaker 1: I just want to make God proud of you. You
- 25:51Speaker 1: know when I before we got on the mike, I
- 25:53Speaker 1: was like jumping for joy for you, because you know,
- 25:56Speaker 1: when I see people make transitions and I can remember, man,
- 25:59Speaker 1: what was on the same sister sister way back then,
- 26:02Speaker 1: you know, and it was like, wow, man, I'm seeing
- 26:06Speaker 1: my brother man. And you know, I loved it when
- 26:08Speaker 1: he was hosting the gopel Or Singing competition. I used
- 26:11Speaker 1: love that seeing you do that, man, and that was
- 26:13Speaker 1: one of my favorite shows just watching you man, just
- 26:16Speaker 1: just so smooth, so articulate. Man's just on the point,
- 26:20Speaker 1: and just knowing that you cared about people where they
- 26:22Speaker 1: want all loss, you know, because it's a journey and
- 26:25Speaker 1: to see you now this is this hard breaking, this
- 26:29Speaker 1: this road into being a television abuser. And you're doing
- 26:31Speaker 1: both hats. You're executive producing and also your music director,
- 26:35Speaker 1: and so people do understand what he's saying. He's saying
- 26:38Speaker 1: that we talked about a video with Mariah Carey. Okay,
- 26:45Speaker 1: you know college it's already got one point five million views.
- 26:49Speaker 1: We talked about Apple TV special. Apple ain't told them
- 26:52Speaker 1: yet when they're gonna drop it in the month of
- 26:54Speaker 1: the something we talked about, you know, Kurt Franklin a
- 26:59Speaker 1: gospel Christmas coming out, you know, December fourth on Lifetime.
- 27:03Speaker 1: And now he has a serious he's doing with Davarn
- 27:05Speaker 1: Frankl who is one of my favorite people who's marriage
- 27:07Speaker 1: or Megan good another one of my favorite people who
- 27:10Speaker 1: totally intrition in the gospel word. My man, this is
- 27:13Speaker 1: a great interview for me to share with my viewers
