- 2:02Speaker 1: than four decades of acting and directing. In addition to
- 2:06Speaker 1: coach starring in the Netflix film The Five Bloods, which
- 2:09Speaker 1: is outstanding. By the way. Clark Peters can also be

- 2:16Speaker 1: critical acclaimed film Harriet Saw That Too, about Harriet Tubman
- 2:21Speaker 1: and the New Apple Serious Foundation. My man down in

- 2:32Speaker 1: and he would co star opposite my man Brian Cranston
- 2:35Speaker 1: in a new short time limited series Call Your Honor.
- 2:38Speaker 1: The Five Bloods is premiering on Netflix on June twelve.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Please Walk on the Money. Main conversations my man Clark Peters,
- 2:45Speaker 1: who's in London, And Isaiah Whitlock Jr. Who's in New Orleans.
- 2:49Speaker 1: How you guys, fellows, how are you doing? Fellers? Lovely
- 2:54Speaker 1: introduction brother, Well, first of all, that's a shortened version
- 2:57Speaker 1: of how great you guys resumes look. And I just
- 3:00Speaker 1: appreciate you guys. Allow me to pull some nuggets out
- 3:03Speaker 1: of your resume, just to let the world know how
- 3:05Speaker 1: special you two are and and and also how special
- 3:08Speaker 1: this movie, The Five Bloods is really about. But before
- 3:12Speaker 1: I just want to act a question right quick for
- 3:14Speaker 1: each one of you. Peters, How did you get started
- 3:16Speaker 1: acting and what was your first major project? Can you
- 3:19Speaker 1: ask that question from me? Yes, I got started following
- 3:24Speaker 1: my my older brother first of all, as as children,
- 3:27Speaker 1: we always wanted to perform together. He went to Paris
- 3:29Speaker 1: u in around nineteen sixty eight or sixty nine somewhere
- 3:33Speaker 1: on a sabbatical from school, and I went over to
- 3:36Speaker 1: visit him while he was performing in the musical hair
- 3:40Speaker 1: I um um. And short story is that he didn't
- 3:44Speaker 1: show up one night and I went on on his
- 3:46Speaker 1: place and that was my first That was my first
- 3:49Speaker 1: gig there for your older brother. Okay, you know well,
- 3:54Speaker 1: and he didn't and he didn't bother to come back,
- 3:56Speaker 1: so I think it. Okay, I got I got the family, Cleverard.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You know, I'm make of the families at least going
- 4:01Speaker 1: to be represented. You know. I love that. Isaiah, how
- 4:04Speaker 1: you do? Man? Hockey asked, how did you started acting
- 4:07Speaker 1: and what was your first major project? You know? I um,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I got started acting. I got into college on a
- 4:16Speaker 1: athletic scholarship and uh, one day Brenda Mind said they
- 4:20Speaker 1: were going to us to audition for a play. And
- 4:23Speaker 1: if I wanted to come along, and I did. They
- 4:26Speaker 1: had me get up and read. I got the part.
- 4:30Speaker 1: She didn't. She never spoke to me again. Okay, so
- 4:39Speaker 1: you know so, But the way I like to look
- 4:43Speaker 1: at it, No, it doesn't matter how you got there,
- 4:45Speaker 1: as long as you did. You know, it's been it's
- 4:47Speaker 1: been quite a career. Well this is beautiful. You know,
- 4:49Speaker 1: he ran his brother out of the country and you
- 4:51Speaker 1: just stopped talking to somebody. I love that. That's that's how.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's how I'm talking to my man. Clark Peters and
- 4:58Speaker 1: Isaiah went like Junior did. Two stars of the movie
- 5:01Speaker 1: The Five Bloods, which will be premiered on Netflix on
- 5:04Speaker 1: June twelve. Now, The Five Bloods moved by five guys
- 5:07Speaker 1: who served time together in Vietnam. But there's also a
- 5:10Speaker 1: movie by black history. If you guys can expound, because
- 5:13Speaker 1: that's really Spike Leeman. He's something else. Now, you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I'm enjoying the movie and he just dropping these nuggets
- 5:18Speaker 1: and I was. I was sitting to my wife, I go,
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know, he telling us about black history. You know,
- 5:22Speaker 1: she said, that's black history right there, that's black history
- 5:25Speaker 1: right there. And so that was beautiful. How you laid
- 5:29Speaker 1: that in there. Comment on that both of y'all, I'd
- 5:31Speaker 1: like to hear from both sides of it. Go ahead,
- 5:35Speaker 1: le well, you know, I don't think you can do
- 5:39Speaker 1: one with this movie. I don't think you could do
- 5:41Speaker 1: one without the other, because I think by dropping, you know,
- 5:45Speaker 1: those nuggets of black history into the film, you began
- 5:48Speaker 1: to understand the dynamics of what these brothers were going through,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, and uh, what they were feeling. So you
- 5:56Speaker 1: had to do. To me, it always seemed like you
- 5:58Speaker 1: had to do votes together to be able to get
- 6:01Speaker 1: the impact. If you just did one, you didn't quite
- 6:04Speaker 1: get it. But when you sort of backed it up
- 6:07Speaker 1: with that Black history lesson, you began to see and
- 6:11Speaker 1: understand and feel the dynamics of the film. Also, I
- 6:18Speaker 1: think what you're getting is not only the the the
- 6:21Speaker 1: context of in which these men were serving, but you're
- 6:25Speaker 1: also getting their point of view on the existence of
- 6:31Speaker 1: African Americans in the States and the and the breadth
- 6:35Speaker 1: of experiences that we have politically and spiritually, so forth
- 6:39Speaker 1: and so on. And yet as diverse as these brothers were,
- 6:44Speaker 1: you know, they had all gone in separate ways once
- 6:48Speaker 1: they once they left and had a merit of experiences,
- 6:51Speaker 1: yet they still maintain the love for each other, which
- 6:55Speaker 1: appears to be somewhere missing today. You know, that type
- 7:00Speaker 1: that that type of brotherhood, and even that is commented
- 7:03Speaker 1: on on in the in the in the piece, and
- 7:06Speaker 1: Spike has a way of doing that. You know, I'm
- 7:08Speaker 1: glad that he I'm glad he's the megaphone you know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: for uh, you know, for for for us. You know,
- 7:14Speaker 1: there should be more, but you know, we understand the
- 7:16Speaker 1: context within which he exists, you know, in that world,
- 7:20Speaker 1: and just so many are gonna get out there to
- 7:22Speaker 1: reach just so many, you know. But I'm glad, I'm
- 7:26Speaker 1: glad that we were certainly a part of part of this.
- 7:28Speaker 1: You know that that's our craft, is foot that's how
- 7:31Speaker 1: our craft should be used, you know, for sure. You know,
- 7:34Speaker 1: the beauty of this movie was, first of all, it
- 7:36Speaker 1: was let's let's break down the character to Five Bloods
- 7:39Speaker 1: consisted of Storm and Norman. That was played by the
- 7:42Speaker 1: Black Panther he always been known as the Black Panther,
- 7:44Speaker 1: Chadwick Boseman and then my brother Paul as I was
- 7:47Speaker 1: playing his character is played by Darre Orlando and Eddie
- 7:51Speaker 1: that was Norm Lewis Otis that was you Pluck Peters
- 7:55Speaker 1: and then may Alvin use Isaiah or that was Malvine
- 7:57Speaker 1: was played by Isaiah Withlock Jr. Also on the journey
- 8:00Speaker 1: was Paul's son who just David, played by Jonathan Major's. Now,
- 8:05Speaker 1: you guys, first of all, the music was outstanding. That
- 8:08Speaker 1: music should have been just a tribute to Marvin Gaye
- 8:10Speaker 1: because uh it yes, yes, you know his brilliance. Uh
- 8:16Speaker 1: it was timeless because I guess what, it's one of
- 8:19Speaker 1: the all time great albums at the time and just
- 8:21Speaker 1: a generational talent because that music is can be played
- 8:26Speaker 1: right now and be very relevant. Now when you guys
- 8:29Speaker 1: got the script, okay, because it was it set in
- 8:32Speaker 1: Vietnam and you guys shooting locally, what did you shoot
- 8:35Speaker 1: at the movie at both Vietnam and Thailand? Uh? Pretty
- 8:41Speaker 1: much the Jungles of Tyler or the Jungles. Okay, cool, Now,
- 8:45Speaker 1: I have fun watching you guys try to dance. Okay
- 8:48Speaker 1: in the beginning, Okay, I'm just gonna throw it out there,
- 8:51Speaker 1: you know, you know, oh no, no, I said you
- 8:53Speaker 1: had that little you had that little skippy going It
- 8:56Speaker 1: looks skippy the hop going ground. I was I was
- 9:00Speaker 1: getting look okay, and Dan, and then Peter's he gonna
- 9:04Speaker 1: close out with the funky chicken. You know you can't
- 9:07Speaker 1: dance if you're doing the funky chicken. You know I
- 9:12Speaker 1: had a drink in my hand. That's true. That's true.
- 9:16Speaker 1: That's true. That's true. That's true. That's true. That's true.
- 9:18Speaker 1: That's true. So so I'm feel I'm an Apoculas now
- 9:22Speaker 1: jamming with you guys. Damn what you guys say? Okay,
- 9:24Speaker 1: Peter's he can't dance, he's doing the chicken. At least
- 9:27Speaker 1: I said. You was hanging in there with the little drink,
- 9:30Speaker 1: had the little rock step going, and Darrel, are you
- 9:33Speaker 1: know he really had the little like Darrell dancing closer
- 9:36Speaker 1: to me because let me out saying, hey, so Darrow
- 9:39Speaker 1: kind of had my my smoothness. And and Paul norm
- 9:42Speaker 1: we need to stop. No, I'm really really need to
- 9:46Speaker 1: stop acting like his a little pigeon told Knock needed behind.
- 9:49Speaker 1: He really need to stop acting like he could bask
- 9:55Speaker 1: the part. You didn't see me getting oxygen. Oh, this
- 10:04Speaker 1: is fun, this is fun, and I'm having fun with
- 10:07Speaker 1: you because over let everybody know, this is a reunion movie.
- 10:09Speaker 1: But it's also it's a family movie and it's my
- 10:13Speaker 1: friends learning about each other. And then it's a treasure
- 10:18Speaker 1: hunting movie too, mm hmm, with the Treasure of Sierra Madre. Y. Yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you know it was. It was so fun. I was
- 10:28Speaker 1: watching the movie. I said, you know what, I was
- 10:29Speaker 1: just gonna be real, like you, I've never seen this
- 10:32Speaker 1: in a black movie like this, not just usually. That's
- 10:35Speaker 1: what spike do you spike and give you something that
- 10:37Speaker 1: you never saw And I supposedly drawn genres and y'all
- 10:41Speaker 1: did it so well. You got you out there, Isaiah
- 10:42Speaker 1: with the metal detector. You were funniest heck. You know. Peters,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you out there with a bad hip. You was funniest
- 10:48Speaker 1: heck and stubborn with a bad hip. So so I'll
- 10:52Speaker 1: start with you, Isaiah, tell everybody about your character because
- 10:55Speaker 1: we're gonna have fun with this, and then Peters you
- 10:57Speaker 1: follow them up. Okay, you know in Melvine, Melvine, he
- 11:02Speaker 1: was he was He was supposed to be the youngest
- 11:04Speaker 1: of the group, and he had lied, he had lied
- 11:07Speaker 1: about his age to get into the service. But he
- 11:10Speaker 1: was sort of like this free spirit, you know, he
- 11:13Speaker 1: didn't really he didn't really have the you know, those
- 11:16Speaker 1: strong moral values and things like that. I mean, I'm
- 11:18Speaker 1: not gonna say he didn't have any, but he was
- 11:21Speaker 1: more of a black and white kind of person. It
- 11:24Speaker 1: is what it is. Uh. You know, you want you
- 11:27Speaker 1: want to you want to talk about reparations. Well, I'm
- 11:30Speaker 1: looking at all this gold here, I got mine, you know.
- 11:35Speaker 1: So he you know, he was, he was, you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: he was pretty much a matter of fact, that being said,
- 11:40Speaker 1: you know, when push came to shove, I mean, he was,
- 11:44Speaker 1: he was. He was a real soldier and he was
- 11:46Speaker 1: he was very protective with the guys around him, and
- 11:50Speaker 1: um uh you couldn't you couldn't really sell them short,
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know. But I wanted people to sort of feel that,
- 11:59Speaker 1: you know that you know, he was a bit up,
- 12:01Speaker 1: a fun loving guy. I mean, you know, he's the
- 12:03Speaker 1: first time you see us in the movie. I'm at
- 12:05Speaker 1: the counter my credit card, but I got a drink already.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I saw that. I saw that he gonna come and
- 12:15Speaker 1: try and whipped out his black card like he's somebody
- 12:19Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta drink. Before I even checked in.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I came there to do I can't. And you know
- 12:30Speaker 1: the thing is, I had to explain to someone the
- 12:33Speaker 1: other day about the Dad because they had seen the movie,
- 12:38Speaker 1: and they said, well, you know, I like the way
- 12:40Speaker 1: Spike uh he added some modern touches and I said,
- 12:44Speaker 1: what do you mean. They said, well, the handshakes and
- 12:46Speaker 1: stuff like that, and I said, no, no, no, that's
- 12:50Speaker 1: that's all of that started during the Vietnam War. That's
- 12:55Speaker 1: not you know, uh, that's not a basketball thing. I
- 12:58Speaker 1: loved to see it, you know, And I said, you know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: all of that came out of that, but it was
- 13:05Speaker 1: there was there was there was, there was a bond
- 13:07Speaker 1: there and it showed like what part of Vietnam you
- 13:11Speaker 1: had served it from things like that, so you really
- 13:15Speaker 1: had to kind of embrace it and um and that's
- 13:18Speaker 1: what my character did and it really did and it
- 13:21Speaker 1: was great, all right there, Clark, I apologize that was
- 13:27Speaker 1: supposed to have It is an acronym for something. I
- 13:30Speaker 1: can't quite remember what it. What it was for d
- 13:32Speaker 1: A P. What was that? Can you remember, Isaiah? I
- 13:35Speaker 1: can't remember. No, Yeah, yeah, it's it's it's it's um.
- 13:40Speaker 1: It was an an acronym for something I can't I
- 13:42Speaker 1: can't quite remember. But when we realized that it that
- 13:46Speaker 1: it was more than just a greeting. It took on
- 13:48Speaker 1: a whole another thing. I think for all of us.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You know, it's you know, because not not everyone, not
- 13:56Speaker 1: everyone had the same the same depth, you know, so
- 14:00Speaker 1: you knew that if you gave a certain depth, that
- 14:03Speaker 1: you were from a certain unit in a certain time,
- 14:05Speaker 1: and you know it was it was it was our drum.
- 14:11Speaker 1: It was it was our drum. You know, they can
- 14:13Speaker 1: take away to drum, but they can't take wig skin.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It's finally here, the season of celebration. And no matter
- 14:20Speaker 1: how you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing

- 16:11Speaker 1: T E R dot ai. What what? What I also
- 16:15Speaker 1: realized was that even if we were doing it, we
- 16:19Speaker 1: all had our we all had our favorite death right.
- 16:23Speaker 1: There were some who were better than others in certain
- 16:27Speaker 1: areas of the death, and we all had our favorite depth.
- 16:30Speaker 1: So you have to learn all of them because you
- 16:32Speaker 1: never knew what you were going to get hit with.
- 16:34Speaker 1: You know. That's that's that that part of the dapping program.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I would have been left off. I've been left off
- 16:41Speaker 1: the dapping And I was born in that era. I
- 16:45Speaker 1: was boring in the era the bump, all that good
- 16:47Speaker 1: stuffing chicken. I had it all down, pat. The great
- 16:51Speaker 1: thing about your character, Peters was that you are medic
- 16:55Speaker 1: and so and I'd say that's great because you know,
- 16:57Speaker 1: we've seen you know, that shows that there was educated
- 17:00Speaker 1: black men participating other than just shooting a gun, you
- 17:03Speaker 1: were saving lives. I think that was a calculated character
- 17:06Speaker 1: development for Spike in this movie. Correct, yes, uh. And
- 17:11Speaker 1: and also with with his history, you know, and with
- 17:13Speaker 1: these particular brothers with these five bloods. You know, he
- 17:17Speaker 1: had seen parts of their bodies and inside that they
- 17:19Speaker 1: had never seen before. You know, you know he is
- 17:23Speaker 1: he taking bullets out of them, showed them up, you know. Uh,
- 17:27Speaker 1: he kept their morale together in the in the field
- 17:31Speaker 1: and as we see also later on when when we
- 17:34Speaker 1: when we had the reunion. You know, I love his humanity.
- 17:39Speaker 1: I love that that that we are allowed to express
- 17:42Speaker 1: our humanity like this because he's not a fictitious character.
- 17:47Speaker 1: You know, there were brothers like this absolutely, and there
- 17:51Speaker 1: are brothers like this and women who are like this today.
- 17:56Speaker 1: So you know, it was it was an honor to
- 17:58Speaker 1: celebrate to where that that that that persona you know,
- 18:02Speaker 1: for myself, I find it easy because I love these brothers,
- 18:05Speaker 1: you know, I love them off off off the camera,
- 18:08Speaker 1: you know, Isaia and I go go way back, you know,
- 18:13Speaker 1: So it's easy. It's easy to have this camaraderie and
- 18:16Speaker 1: have this fun, you know, and to look after them.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And oddly enough, you feel like you're you know, it's
- 18:22Speaker 1: sometimes you're not supposed to carry your your your work home,
- 18:25Speaker 1: you know, but I didn't mind carrying Otis back back
- 18:28Speaker 1: to the hotel with me. You know, most night, you know,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and still hanging on out with with the brothers and
- 18:33Speaker 1: keeping an eye on them. You know, we were we
- 18:35Speaker 1: were in a situation over there in Thailand last year
- 18:39Speaker 1: where we were wearing masks, you know, because because the
- 18:42Speaker 1: weather was so bad, and I found myself making sure
- 18:47Speaker 1: that you know, we all right, you know, and you
- 18:51Speaker 1: know that's awesome thing. We also needed one another, you know,
- 18:56Speaker 1: I mean, there's such a you know, we knew we
- 19:00Speaker 1: were in for. The days were hard, the days were long,
- 19:03Speaker 1: the days were hot, and we just desperately needed one another.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We needed to pick each other up and make sure
- 19:10Speaker 1: that each other were okay. Yeah, I think it was hot.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I know it got hot when I was out there
- 19:14Speaker 1: looking for the goal. Not that it got hot there. Brother.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I knew it was because because I said, you looked
- 19:19Speaker 1: like it was hot. You look like when you said, look, man,
- 19:22Speaker 1: I'm looking for the goal. I ain't picking up nothing.
- 19:25Speaker 1: I said, he ain't acting, now, honey, he's not acting.
- 19:29Speaker 1: It was Remember I said, he's got acting before I'm
- 19:35Speaker 1: talking to my man. Cluck Beaters and Isaiah with Lock
- 19:38Speaker 1: of two stars of the movie The Five Bloods, premier
- 19:41Speaker 1: on Netflix on June twelve. What you're about to say, Isaiah, No,
- 19:45Speaker 1: but there was there was one shot in the movie
- 19:47Speaker 1: where I looked at myself and I said, I said,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and I really looked that damn bad. I mean, it
- 19:53Speaker 1: just seemed like each other. Hey man, man, when you
- 19:59Speaker 1: was out that looking for that, I said, when you
- 20:01Speaker 1: was out there looking for paint and you don't had
- 20:03Speaker 1: the little meter out there, little melo detector. You you
- 20:06Speaker 1: were hot, brother, you were hot. You were looking for
- 20:08Speaker 1: some cold water, some ice water, some a when they're
- 20:12Speaker 1: gonna call cut something here because this is some real
- 20:16Speaker 1: heat out here, trailers what I was looking for. It's
- 20:28Speaker 1: two other dynamic characters that Paul. I just gotta said
- 20:31Speaker 1: by Darryl or Lindo what he did in this movie
- 20:33Speaker 1: as the character Paul. I'm gonna tell you some all
- 20:38Speaker 1: you guys get fantastic jobs, amazing job. He has some monologues. Man,
- 20:43Speaker 1: if we don't see him in some nominations in the fall,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna be really really hurt because you know it
- 20:50Speaker 1: out there, man, he laid it out to make sure.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Make sure you expressed that hurt there too. Russian, because
- 20:56Speaker 1: you know there's there's uh that one scene where he
- 21:00Speaker 1: bocks off, you know, and he right, you know what
- 21:03Speaker 1: I'm talking about that on that particular day, you know,
- 21:08Speaker 1: it was it was a pretty intense day. You remember
- 21:10Speaker 1: this Isaiah. He walked off and it was like God
- 21:15Speaker 1: was with him, Nature was with him, because a storm
- 21:18Speaker 1: came up from nowhere, a storm came up from nowhere,
- 21:24Speaker 1: and my man was just riding the energy of that storm.
- 21:28Speaker 1: And you couldn't help but to feel You couldn't help
- 21:32Speaker 1: but to feel the emotion and wherever he was going
- 21:36Speaker 1: in his spirit, to find that the earth and God
- 21:40Speaker 1: was with him. And we hope that that comes on
- 21:42Speaker 1: through all it does it does. First of all, it's
- 21:46Speaker 1: a hurt soul or all, you guys, his character was
- 21:49Speaker 1: the hurt character. That the character he was still carrying
- 21:53Speaker 1: Vietnam window. Later on we find out why, but he
- 21:56Speaker 1: still was carrying PTSD. Was all in his spirit. He
- 21:59Speaker 1: never was able to walk away or have a life
- 22:02Speaker 1: or have a life with his son who and his
- 22:05Speaker 1: son I want to get more detail, but that the
- 22:07Speaker 1: whole breakdown was amazing and told a different story besides
- 22:12Speaker 1: the five bloods in that relationship as it as it
- 22:14Speaker 1: grew out. But it was interesting I was reading the
- 22:16Speaker 1: article about that uh that Spike Lee says. He said,
- 22:20Speaker 1: there was no c G I budget to make you
- 22:21Speaker 1: make my man look younger doing the flashbacks. Okay, that's
- 22:24Speaker 1: what Spike said. And I'm gonna tell you guys something.
- 22:27Speaker 1: You know, I always your people when you dream or
- 22:30Speaker 1: you think back. You never see yourself when you dream,
- 22:34Speaker 1: and you think that you only see what you see, Okay,
- 22:38Speaker 1: And so so when you guys were having those flashbacks,
- 22:41Speaker 1: I always saw it from you guys perspective. He was
- 22:44Speaker 1: supposed to be younger. Okay, he was, because it would
- 22:48Speaker 1: be told from your perspectives. And if first of all
- 22:51Speaker 1: such brilliant acting, it didn't matter. So I was. I
- 22:54Speaker 1: always stayed in the moment during the flashbacks because you
- 22:58Speaker 1: guys were going bad act to where you were thinking
- 23:01Speaker 1: about when you're younger. Hey, whenever I think about somebody,
- 23:04Speaker 1: but I hope to God I don't think of somebody.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Look at my age now in the seventies. When I'm
- 23:09Speaker 1: thinking about how that person looked into seventies, that person
- 23:11Speaker 1: looks like that person in the seventies, and I am
- 23:14Speaker 1: who I am today. It was brilliantly, I know, he said, that,
- 23:17Speaker 1: but as you want to tell you, guys, it worried.
- 23:20Speaker 1: You know the thing is that when you start tinkering,
- 23:25Speaker 1: tinkering around with the c g I, you know, then
- 23:28Speaker 1: the audience, the audience watching it, they're they're they're they're
- 23:33Speaker 1: no longer paying attention to the story. They're paying attention
- 23:37Speaker 1: to you trying to look younger. And by by us
- 23:42Speaker 1: just being ourselves standing in the moment, date in the story,
- 23:46Speaker 1: date in the moment, dated the story, you didn't have
- 23:48Speaker 1: you were you were not distracted. It's what I'm trying
- 23:51Speaker 1: to say absolutely that I always tell people black and
- 23:53Speaker 1: white movies, you had to act in black and white movies.
- 23:56Speaker 1: You had to be able to act when they started
- 23:59Speaker 1: adding that color and all that stuff. The background, the
- 24:01Speaker 1: sun sae sunset was yellow. You know, they could have
- 24:04Speaker 1: some bad acting. When you, guys went from from the
- 24:08Speaker 1: younger character and then you went back to the Vietnam
- 24:11Speaker 1: I felt it was real. I felt the emotion, I
- 24:13Speaker 1: felt the pain, I felt the journey. Just a fantastic jaw,
- 24:17Speaker 1: A great movie. The Five Blood premiers June twelfth on Netflix.
- 24:21Speaker 1: But before I go, I'll be I'll be remissed because
- 24:24Speaker 1: we know the times that we're both all three of
- 24:26Speaker 1: us African American men, and we'll be remissed to talk
- 24:29Speaker 1: about how this pandemic or COVID ninteen is affecting our community.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Uh in April when when the CDC came out, it's
- 24:39Speaker 1: of the affective patients in Atlanta, or African Americans in
- 24:43Speaker 1: New Orleans, the state of Louisiana, seven out of ten
- 24:47Speaker 1: in Chicago, for in Detroit. We are a race of
- 24:53Speaker 1: people who are overly affected by this in a country
- 24:57Speaker 1: that's not understanding how they can take care of themselves.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Don't take care of us. Any comments on the Russians?
- 25:04Speaker 1: Can I can I put cannec with this to here?
- 25:05Speaker 1: You know, I wasn't in the States when it when
- 25:08Speaker 1: when the when that those figures came out, and and
- 25:12Speaker 1: I don't want it, and I repeat this. I do
- 25:15Speaker 1: not want to minimize the pandemic or the importance of
- 25:20Speaker 1: any virus that's in the air that is affecting human beings.
- 25:24Speaker 1: I'm not minimizing that at all. But what you guys
- 25:28Speaker 1: were getting over there as one bit of information, we
- 25:31Speaker 1: were getting the complete opposite over here. What we got
- 25:35Speaker 1: over here was that it was not something that was
- 25:38Speaker 1: affecting people of color. What we got over here was
- 25:42Speaker 1: that it was going after the after the elderly first
- 25:47Speaker 1: and those who were whose immune systems were compromised. It
- 25:51Speaker 1: was not And if anything, the young blood's over here
- 25:55Speaker 1: were saying, well, it doesn't bother people of Afro Caribbean descent.
- 26:00Speaker 1: That's what was going on here. Now we've been around
- 26:04Speaker 1: long enough. We've been around long enough to know how
- 26:09Speaker 1: how a machine will will effect or use people of color,
- 26:16Speaker 1: people of a lesser uh circumstance, for its own means.
- 26:22Speaker 1: You know, Now we have not only the pandemic, but
- 26:27Speaker 1: we also have this five G thing that's going up
- 26:31Speaker 1: as well, running alongside right. Well, I see that and that,
- 26:38Speaker 1: and that is exactly my point. We don't know. We
- 26:41Speaker 1: don't know, because you get something over here, you get
- 26:44Speaker 1: something over there. But what I do know is this
- 26:48Speaker 1: is that Tuskegee was an experiment. You know. What I
- 26:56Speaker 1: do know is that when the pilgrims came on over
- 26:58Speaker 1: to the New Land and and they wanted some they
- 27:01Speaker 1: want some land, they gave the indigenous people some blankets.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You know, I do know that according to history, you know,
- 27:14Speaker 1: that first pandemic, that came through in nineteen in the
- 27:17Speaker 1: early nineteen hundreds was on the back of the introduction
- 27:21Speaker 1: of X rays into the world. So I'm and like
- 27:26Speaker 1: I said, I'm saying, there's not to minimize the the
- 27:31Speaker 1: but I think that one needs to really be uh,
- 27:36Speaker 1: to think through and use your mind and do not
- 27:39Speaker 1: give up the responsibility of your health to somebody else.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Thank you, Do not give it up to somebody else.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You know, God gave you that body and that mind
- 27:53Speaker 1: for you to work within that temple and for you
- 27:56Speaker 1: to keep that clean, for you to look after that.
- 28:00Speaker 1: But you know what I think about I'm sorry. I'm sorry, no,
- 28:04Speaker 1: but not don't mean to cut you off, Clark. No. Yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 1: I was pretty much done because like I'm moving to
- 28:11Speaker 1: the edge of my seat now and I was standing
- 28:13Speaker 1: up and I love it. I love it. Thank you,
- 28:17Speaker 1: thank you, thank you. People wanted to say. What I
- 28:20Speaker 1: wanted to say was that I think this pandemic has
- 28:24Speaker 1: really raised the veil on a deeper problem that has
- 28:28Speaker 1: been that you know, it's just like you're looking up
- 28:31Speaker 1: underneath the hood and you're seeing, you know what the
- 28:34Speaker 1: real problem is, UH, and starting to ask a lot
- 28:37Speaker 1: of questions, why why is it this way? Why do
- 28:41Speaker 1: is there so much diabetes? High blood pressure? Why? Uh? Yeah,
- 28:47Speaker 1: wire why why why are we in this type of situation?
- 28:51Speaker 1: And the more you dig, the more you begin to
- 28:54Speaker 1: realize that this is not This has been going on
- 28:57Speaker 1: for years. Yes, I mean when I say years, I'm
- 29:01Speaker 1: talking centuries. Yes, that's right, and uh, that's right. And
- 29:06Speaker 1: going forward it needs to be fixed. All of this
- 29:09Speaker 1: stuff about the heroes and essential people and everything like that. Uh,
- 29:14Speaker 1: when this pandemic is over, if it's ever over, I
- 29:18Speaker 1: want to see. I want to see what we do
- 29:21Speaker 1: going forward. You want to see if those if those
- 29:23Speaker 1: essential people are taking care of, if those heroes are
- 29:27Speaker 1: taking care of, if if if things are are are
- 29:32Speaker 1: are fixed, if we need go back to doing what
- 29:35Speaker 1: we were doing. That's that's gonna be really sad. That's
- 29:38Speaker 1: gonna be very very sex Yes, you know, and and
- 29:40Speaker 1: and you know what we do is all we have
- 29:43Speaker 1: to do is look at the way that our veterans
- 29:46Speaker 1: are being taken care of. You look at the way
- 29:50Speaker 1: our veterans have been taken care of, you know, you know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: and I want to thinking about heroes and I don't
- 30:00Speaker 1: absolutely here's the deal. I want to thank both of
- 30:03Speaker 1: you guys for coming on the show. Uh this first
- 30:05Speaker 1: time talking to you guys, It's been amazingly fun. I
- 30:08Speaker 1: don't wanna you know, they gave me a time limit.
- 30:10Speaker 1: That's why I don't want to go beyond that. Clark
