- 0:00Speaker 1: If I'm not working, then how is it that the
- 0:03Speaker 1: FBI delivered the safest America under President Trump's leadership in
- 0:06Speaker 1: the history of our country.
- 0:08Speaker 2: And so, you know what.
- 0:09Speaker 1: They can beat their drums and stand next to toxic
- 0:12Speaker 1: waste all they want, but that doesn't make it toxic waste.
- 0:14Speaker 1: And Maria, I'm happy to announce on your show that
- 0:16Speaker 1: we are not going to take this laying down. You
- 0:18Speaker 1: want to attack my character, come at me, bring it up.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'll see you in court.
- 0:22Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben ferguson.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Good Tuesday morning.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Nice to have you with us on the forty seven
- 0:29Speaker 4: Morning Update, and we've got two major.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Stories for you.
- 0:32Speaker 4: First up, Donald Trump enacting the Defense Production Act to
- 0:37Speaker 4: boost US old production.
- 0:39Speaker 3: So what does this mean for you? I'll explain it
- 0:42Speaker 3: for you.
- 0:42Speaker 4: And it could also mean major price changes at the
- 0:45Speaker 4: pump as well. Also, in a shocking move, Dan Rather
- 0:50Speaker 4: and more than two hundred journalists have signed an open
- 0:52Speaker 4: letter demanding the White House Correspondence Association call out Donald
- 0:57Speaker 4: Trump to his face at Saturday's It's Dinner.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'll have those details as well.
- 1:03Speaker 4: I want to take a quick moment and talk to
- 1:04Speaker 4: you about an incredible organization and it is called Compassion International,
- 1:09Speaker 4: and how you can get involved. I want you to
- 1:12Speaker 4: pause what you're doing for just one minute, and I
- 1:14Speaker 4: want you to hear about Alejandra. She lives in a
- 1:18Speaker 4: remote community with very few resources and little to no healthcare.
- 1:23Speaker 4: So when Alexandra gets sick, her parents have no real options,
- 1:27Speaker 4: no doctors in their community, and no money for real
- 1:31Speaker 4: medical care. By the third day, her body was shutting down.
- 1:35Speaker 4: She woke up and just long enough to tell her mom,
- 1:39Speaker 4: I can't take the pain anymore. I can't keep going.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Her parents drove hours to find a doctor who tried everything,
- 1:48Speaker 4: but she needed a private hospital and that was impossible
- 1:52Speaker 4: for her family to afford. And that is when Compassion
- 1:55Speaker 4: International stepped in. Now through Compassion Alejandra treated and against
- 2:01Speaker 4: all odds, she survived. She lived because someone just like
- 2:06Speaker 4: you took action right now. Unfortunately, there are children just
- 2:10Speaker 4: like Alejandra who won't survive unless someone like you steps in.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Compassion International partners with local churches, providing children with the
- 2:20Speaker 4: support that they need, critical medical care, plus food, education
- 2:26Speaker 4: and the hope of the gospel, all in Jesus's name.
- 2:30Speaker 4: So help a child just like Alejandra. Today you can
- 2:34Speaker 4: visit Compassion dot com. That's Compassion dot Com. It's the
- 2:39Speaker 4: forty seven Morning Update and it starts right now.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:44Speaker 4: We're gonna start with Donald Trump and big news coming
- 2:47Speaker 4: from the White House, as the President has now cited
- 2:50Speaker 4: the Defense Production Act to boost US oil production. Now,
- 2:56Speaker 4: let me walk you through this major development. It could
- 2:58Speaker 4: have serious implications not only for your wallet, also your
- 3:03Speaker 4: energy bill and America's position on the world stage. Now,
- 3:07Speaker 4: President Trump has moved to invoke the Defense Production Act,
- 3:11Speaker 4: and this time it's aimed squarely at one thing, boosting
- 3:15Speaker 4: US old production. The White House is confirming. Now that
- 3:19Speaker 4: might sound like some politics to you, right, like bureaucratic jargon,
- 3:24Speaker 4: But make no mistake, this is directly going to affect
- 3:29Speaker 4: your life in a very big way. Now, let's talk
- 3:32Speaker 4: about what the Defense Production Act even is. It's a
- 3:36Speaker 4: powerful Cold War air law. It was originally designed to
- 3:40Speaker 4: ensure the United States could rapidly ramp up production of
- 3:44Speaker 4: critical minerals during times of national emergency.
- 3:49Speaker 3: You think about War two.
- 3:50Speaker 4: You needed steel, you needed weapons, you need medical supplies.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Now we've seen it used in modern times during the
- 3:58Speaker 4: crisis not too long ago, COVID and what was it
- 4:02Speaker 4: used for to accelerate the vaccine as well as PPE production.
- 4:07Speaker 4: But now the target is new and this time it's
- 4:11Speaker 4: straight up energy. Energy, by the way, is not just
- 4:15Speaker 4: about filling your gas tank. It's also about national security,
- 4:19Speaker 4: one of the things the President's been talking a lot
- 4:21Speaker 4: about lately, making sure that America isn't held hostage by
- 4:25Speaker 4: Iran or any other country in the world. It's also
- 4:29Speaker 4: about economic stability and global leverage. If you don't know
- 4:34Speaker 4: what you're going to pay each month for energy costs
- 4:37Speaker 4: and they skyrocket or double and triple in no time
- 4:40Speaker 4: at all, well, that is instability, something the present also
- 4:45Speaker 4: wants to make sure we get rid of now. For years,
- 4:48Speaker 4: the US has been in a toga war with foreign
- 4:51Speaker 4: energy producers, countries like Russia, for example, Iran and then Opek.
- 4:58Speaker 4: They can manipulate supply and drive up global prices basically
- 5:03Speaker 4: whenever they want to. Part of the reason why the
- 5:06Speaker 4: President has made it clear in his first campaign in
- 5:08Speaker 4: twenty sixteen that he was about drill, baby, drill, and
- 5:13Speaker 4: that's exactly what the President's talking about this time now.
- 5:17Speaker 4: When supply is tight, the prices are spiking, and you're
- 5:20Speaker 4: witnessing it right now. I went today to fill up
- 5:23Speaker 4: my car that I bought not that long ago, and
- 5:26Speaker 4: originally when I filled it up, it was thirty seven dollars.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Today I put ninety dollars in my gas tank. That
- 5:33Speaker 4: is unsustainable for many Americans. And that's why President Trump
- 5:38Speaker 4: is doing this now.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Whether it's the.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Price of the pump, or the electric bill, the grocery store,
- 5:46Speaker 4: it doesn't matter. As the White House said, when transportation
- 5:49Speaker 4: costs go up, it hurts American families, it weakens our economy,
- 5:56Speaker 4: and we're now, as the White House said, taking back. Now,
- 6:01Speaker 4: let me explain how the Defense Production Act works. Now.
- 6:05Speaker 4: By invoking this Act, the federal government can number one,
- 6:09Speaker 4: prioritize contracts for domestic all production. Number two direct resources
- 6:15Speaker 4: like steel, labor, and infrastructure towards energy development. Three, it
- 6:21Speaker 4: now cuts through major regulatory delays. And four, it provides
- 6:26Speaker 4: financial incentives or even guarantees to producers to produce maximum capacity.
- 6:33Speaker 4: In other words, it fast tracks production, which is exactly
- 6:37Speaker 4: what America needs right now. So instead of waiting years
- 6:41Speaker 4: for permits or pipelines or refinery upgrades, the government can
- 6:45Speaker 4: accelerate the process dramatically. It's essentially putting all production on
- 6:51Speaker 4: a wartime footing.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Let me say that again.
- 6:54Speaker 4: We're putting all production in the US on a wartime footing.
- 6:58Speaker 4: We're treating energy into penance, not just as an important issue,
- 7:02Speaker 4: but literally as a national emergency and a national security
- 7:08Speaker 4: issue as well. So what does that mean for US
- 7:11Speaker 4: oil production? Well, the goal here is real simple. We
- 7:16Speaker 4: need to increase output quickly and at scale. That can
- 7:21Speaker 4: mean reopening or expanding drilling operations, boosting output from existing wells,
- 7:27Speaker 4: investing in refining capacity so crude oil actually becomes usable
- 7:33Speaker 4: fuel faster.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And here's the key.
- 7:36Speaker 4: The United States already has massive reserves and the capability
- 7:40Speaker 4: to lead globally. The issue has never been weather we
- 7:44Speaker 4: can produce, it's whether we will, and this move clearly
- 7:48Speaker 4: answers that question. So for a consumer, is this good news? Well,
- 7:53Speaker 4: let's bring that home to you and your family. If
- 7:57Speaker 4: what the President's trying to do is successful and using
- 8:00Speaker 4: supply should number one lower energy prices, specifically gas prices.
- 8:06Speaker 4: It will stabilize the energy markets, meaning you know what
- 8:09Speaker 4: to plan on spending each and every month, reduce the
- 8:13Speaker 4: volatility caused by foreign conflicts or production cuts from OPEK
- 8:18Speaker 4: or other nations, giving them the upper hand well and
- 8:22Speaker 4: taking it right back, which is what the present's trying
- 8:25Speaker 4: to do. When supply goes up, prices tend to come
- 8:29Speaker 4: down or at least stop skyrocketing, which is exactly why
- 8:33Speaker 4: this matters for every American And maybe most importantly, it
- 8:38Speaker 4: means less dependence on foreign oil, something the present ran
- 8:43Speaker 4: on in twenty sixteen. It reduces the risk of sudden
- 8:46Speaker 4: shocks to the market when geopolitical tensions flare up in
- 8:50Speaker 4: the Middle East or Eastern Europe. And beyond gas prices,
- 8:55Speaker 4: there's also a major ripple effect. Cheaper fuel lower shipping costs,
- 9:00Speaker 4: and lowering shipping costs can ease inflation and what you
- 9:03Speaker 4: pay for basic goods and services. That affects everything from
- 9:08Speaker 4: your groceries to online orders. So this isn't just an
- 9:13Speaker 4: energy policy decision coming from Donald Trump. It's an economic
- 9:18Speaker 4: policy and a national security policy as well, and it
- 9:22Speaker 4: goes back to what Trump has been talking about for
- 9:25Speaker 4: quite some time.
- 9:27Speaker 3: There's a strategic layer here.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Energy dominance gives the United States leverage on the global stage.
- 9:35Speaker 4: It means we're not only less reliance on our adversaries,
- 9:39Speaker 4: but also more ability to influence our allies. It gives
- 9:44Speaker 4: us so much stronger negotiating place to the table and
- 9:47Speaker 4: negotiating from a standpoint of power in international conflicts. It's
- 9:52Speaker 4: also really about controlling our own destiny because the countries
- 9:57Speaker 4: that control energy often control the conversation. Now, not everyone
- 10:03Speaker 4: agrees with this move. The critics are already yelling on
- 10:07Speaker 4: TV and from the rooftops. They're saying this will have
- 10:11Speaker 4: environmental consequences because it's not done in a green way.
- 10:15Speaker 4: It may distort markets with government intervention, they say, which
- 10:19Speaker 4: they don't want. But to be clear, what this is
- 10:22Speaker 4: really about is the President saying to the American people,
- 10:26Speaker 4: I'm going to do everything I can to make sure
- 10:28Speaker 4: that national security wise were safe. But also you have
- 10:32Speaker 4: more of your hard earned dollars in your pocket. And
- 10:36Speaker 4: why are Democrats fighting this right now? It's actually for
- 10:39Speaker 4: just one really simple reason. They want gas prices to
- 10:44Speaker 4: say hi, and they want you to feel instability in
- 10:48Speaker 4: your own life financially heading into the midterm elections. To
- 10:52Speaker 4: be clear, Democrats have never had a problem with high
- 10:55Speaker 4: gas prices. They want to force you into buying an
- 10:58Speaker 4: electric car. But this time it's for a different reason.
- 11:02Speaker 4: They want you to hurt and your family to hurt
- 11:05Speaker 4: so that maybe you'll vote for them come November. And
- 11:08Speaker 4: that's part of the reason why the president needs to
- 11:10Speaker 4: act quickly and decisively, just like he did today.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Next story number two.
- 11:16Speaker 4: There's something incredibly ironic and it just is laughable at
- 11:20Speaker 4: this point happening in Washington, DC. Dan Rather is now
- 11:24Speaker 4: among two hundred journalists, you know, those that say they're journalists, right,
- 11:28Speaker 4: non bias individuals, those that say they don't put their
- 11:32Speaker 4: own personal opinions into their journalistic work, their integrity, we
- 11:37Speaker 4: all know they're lying. There's massive bias in the media
- 11:40Speaker 4: almost every quote journalists. When they quit, they become a
- 11:43Speaker 4: radical lefty. They start a podcast and then they tell
- 11:47Speaker 4: you what they really think, which is what they've always
- 11:49Speaker 4: thought along. They hate conservatives, they hate Donald Trump, Orange man.
- 11:52Speaker 3: It's bad.
- 11:53Speaker 4: You go through the list, it's pretty clear. Well now
- 11:56Speaker 4: these journalists of two hundred plus have joined the longtime
- 12:02Speaker 4: media figure, you know, the non biased and Rather and
- 12:06Speaker 4: now they're demanding that the White House Correspondence Center call
- 12:10Speaker 4: out Donald Trump to his face. That's right, they're calling
- 12:14Speaker 4: for President Trump to be publicly admonished at the White
- 12:18Speaker 4: House correspondence dinner. Now just think about that for a second.
- 12:22Speaker 4: This is the one night that's supposed to celebrate journalism.
- 12:26Speaker 4: It's independence, its integrity, it's commitment to holding power accountable
- 12:32Speaker 4: no matter who's in office. And yet what we're seeing
- 12:36Speaker 4: is not independence, it's coordination. It's not objectivity, it's literally activism.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Because when you have more than two hundred journalists collectively
- 12:47Speaker 4: demanding a political message be delivered, and at what's supposed
- 12:52Speaker 4: to be a non partisan event, you're not acting like
- 12:58Speaker 4: referees anymore, stepping into the field and being an activist. Now,
- 13:04Speaker 4: the issue isn't whether you agree or disagree with Donald Trump.
- 13:08Speaker 4: The issue for me is this is journalism still journalism,
- 13:13Speaker 4: or whether it's becoming a political movement with press credentials.
- 13:17Speaker 3: That's what I believe it actually is.
- 13:20Speaker 4: And when reporters who claim they're non biased start organizing
- 13:24Speaker 4: literally like activists, signing letters, pushing narratives, demanding public denouncement
- 13:32Speaker 4: of the President of United States of America to his face,
- 13:35Speaker 4: not only are they boring the line that they're supposed
- 13:38Speaker 4: to protect, but they're telling you exactly who they are.
- 13:41Speaker 3: They're not journalists at all. They're hardcore liberal.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Activists, and that is exactly why the public has lost
- 13:49Speaker 4: their trust in journalism.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Now, let's be honest, this is not new.
- 13:55Speaker 4: This is just another blaring example of how biased the
- 13:57Speaker 4: media has become. We've seid years of selective outrage where
- 14:02Speaker 4: some politicians are relentlessly targeted while others get a huge pass.
- 14:07Speaker 4: If you don't believe me, look at Eric Swallow's entire career,
- 14:10Speaker 4: and the only reason why the media turned on him
- 14:12Speaker 4: last week was because they were afraid they were going
- 14:14Speaker 4: to lose the governor's mansion in California. They protected him
- 14:18Speaker 4: while he was going after women, but then when it
- 14:22Speaker 4: was politically expedient to get rid of him, the journalists
- 14:25Speaker 4: started acting like journalists and reporting the news. We've seen
- 14:29Speaker 4: this over and over again, and yet what do we
- 14:34Speaker 4: see from the press a clearly coordinated push to turn
- 14:38Speaker 4: a dinner that's supposed to be nonpartisan into their political platform.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Imagine for a moment, if the roles were reversed.
- 14:46Speaker 4: If two hundred journalists demanded a public takedown of a
- 14:49Speaker 4: Democratic president at this event, would it be framed as
- 14:53Speaker 4: speaking truth to power? Or would it be condemned as biased,
- 14:57Speaker 4: as inappropriate, as crossing the line. We all know that answer.
- 15:02Speaker 4: So what this really means to me is this trust
- 15:05Speaker 4: in the media is already at historic lows, and it's
- 15:09Speaker 4: moves like this that don't rebuild the trust. They reinforce
- 15:13Speaker 4: the skepticism based on facts. Americans are watching and they're
- 15:18Speaker 4: asking a simple question. Are journalists even reporting the story anymore?
- 15:23Speaker 4: Or are they actually just trying to manipulate and shape
- 15:25Speaker 4: a narrative every time they go on TV or write
- 15:28Speaker 4: an article in the newspaper.
- 15:30Speaker 3: They're not informing the public anymore.
- 15:33Speaker 4: They're literally influencing the outcome, and that includes our elections.
- 15:38Speaker 3: So if the.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Correspondence decide to do this at the dinner, I hope
- 15:42Speaker 4: Donald Trump smacks them back hard, calls them out for
- 15:46Speaker 4: their anarchy and for what they really are, activist political hacks.
