- 0:00Speaker 1: What he likes to do. It's what he likes to share.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Now it's time to hear from my man, Rashan McDonald
- 0:05Speaker 1: money making conversations. Here we come working of money making conversations.
- 0:10Speaker 1: I am your host, Rashan McDonald. It's important to understand
- 0:13Speaker 1: that everybody travels to different paths of success. That's because
- 0:16Speaker 1: your brand is different, the challenges you're facing your life
- 0:19Speaker 1: are different. So guess what you need to start reading
- 0:21Speaker 1: other people's success stories and really start writing your own.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Now you can be motivated by this success. I'm never
- 0:26Speaker 1: gonna take that away. Read their stories, but it's their stories.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So please understand that you have to create your own
- 0:31Speaker 1: stories to your planning, your effort and your ability to
- 0:34Speaker 1: achieve your own level of success, to your commitment. My
- 0:37Speaker 1: guests I bring on the show us all about commitments,
- 0:39Speaker 1: all about effort, and about their success stories. And sometimes
- 0:41Speaker 1: in a success story a stubb or told and I
- 0:43Speaker 1: want to hear those stories because we all need to
- 0:46Speaker 1: know that it's never a clean path to success. My
- 0:48Speaker 1: next guest has had a clean paths to success. She
- 0:51Speaker 1: is one of my favorite people. Her name is Kyler Pratt.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Kyla has crafted longevity as an actress since starting her
- 0:57Speaker 1: career as a young act at a young age and
- 1:00Speaker 1: a mass success in numerous comedies from TV sitcoms, the film.
- 1:04Speaker 1: She will be reprising a role in the Proud Family
- 1:06Speaker 1: One of my favorite and the Baby Jung in the
- 1:08Speaker 1: reboot The Proud Family Louder and Prouder for Disney Plus
- 1:12Speaker 1: As I Please, it's coming out this year. We'll talking
- 1:14Speaker 1: about that. She's currently started on Fox is the in
- 1:18Speaker 1: the Rod called Randy and a Fox series called Call
- 1:21Speaker 1: Me Cat. You can catch it every Thursday night on Fox. Please,
- 1:24Speaker 1: Welcome to Money Making Conversations. For the very first part, Calf,
- 1:32Speaker 1: you're looking at You're looking groovy. It is that the
- 1:35Speaker 1: kind of old groovy groovy groovy. That's cool. Good. Well,
- 1:41Speaker 1: first of all, you look fantastic. And because in this
- 1:44Speaker 1: television age and you look like I'm seriously you can
- 1:47Speaker 1: look like you can probably still play a young teenager.
- 1:50Speaker 1: You look fantastic. Color. I get that a lot. Thank you.
- 1:54Speaker 1: It's crazy you wanted you because we got the battle,
- 2:01Speaker 1: you know, because it's a it's an industry about the
- 2:03Speaker 1: youth and your ability to maintain you know. It's like
- 2:07Speaker 1: I always check people say you look good for your age.
- 2:09Speaker 1: When they're saying to me, you know, I'm standing next
- 2:11Speaker 1: to somebody like you, they go your dad or your grandpa. So,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but you look fantastic anything you're doing because you've been
- 2:19Speaker 1: locked down on COVID to keep your spirits up and
- 2:22Speaker 1: keep physically motivated. Um, it's been difficult. Um. Actually, when
- 2:27Speaker 1: everything started happening, I was actually supposed to shoot the
- 2:30Speaker 1: pilot for called me cat and they called and they
- 2:33Speaker 1: were like, um, everything's been shut down. UM. In the
- 2:35Speaker 1: first couple of months is really really hard. Of course,
- 2:38Speaker 1: staying on top of your eating because I'm an emotional
- 2:41Speaker 1: eater and I'm like food. But m after like a
- 2:45Speaker 1: couple of months, you know, I kind of had to,
- 2:46Speaker 1: you know, get it together and say, Okay, what am
- 2:48Speaker 1: I putting in my body. I'm also not exercising as much.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'm also not getting a lot of vitamin d UM.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I want to make sure that I'm healthy just in case,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, come in contact with anything COVID like, so
- 2:58Speaker 1: I can fight it off. And I just wanted to
- 3:01Speaker 1: start putting better things in my body and and started
- 3:03Speaker 1: getting physically active again and just making sure I wasn't
- 3:06Speaker 1: laying down and chilling all day. You know, some days
- 3:09Speaker 1: you gotta do that, but then you gotta get back
- 3:12Speaker 1: on some type of schedule and it's like, all right,
- 3:14Speaker 1: don't don't fall off too hard because it's gone. Everything's
- 3:17Speaker 1: gonna open up and then what you're gonna looking crazy.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I gained weight too, I really did gain weight. I
- 3:23Speaker 1: was like my wife, she was, You're hungry, yeah yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 1: And I was eating breakfast, launching dinner and I never
- 3:30Speaker 1: do that. So but guess what, I was sitting around
- 3:33Speaker 1: a house watching TV, watching Tiger King all the stuff,
- 3:37Speaker 1: you know, you know, just different shows on Fox, ABC everything,
- 3:40Speaker 1: you know, because Coben had put me in a lifestyle
- 3:43Speaker 1: I had never done. In my face, I couldn't control
- 3:45Speaker 1: my movements and so uncertainty and so we all trapped
- 3:51Speaker 1: into that, and so you know, you know, I'm not
- 3:53Speaker 1: saying I was depressed, but I was in a way,
- 3:56Speaker 1: um confused about when I went out in public, how
- 3:59Speaker 1: to our interact properly? And and then I read your stories.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I'm assuming you're based in California, and California is like
- 4:05Speaker 1: the COVID capital of the world right now, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 1: with the with the recent surge and productions being shut
- 4:11Speaker 1: down and things like that. How do you like? You said,
- 4:14Speaker 1: you know, taking vitamins and watching what you eat, but
- 4:17Speaker 1: you're still living that lifestyle. Is the media over extending
- 4:20Speaker 1: the story or you or you can live uncomfortable you
- 4:23Speaker 1: you move out comfortably in l A. Um no, I'm
- 4:28Speaker 1: as soon as you tell I don't like being too
- 4:30Speaker 1: close to people anyway. I like my space. I had
- 4:33Speaker 1: funny I went to the grocery store and I had
- 4:35Speaker 1: this shirt on that said back up if you can
- 4:37Speaker 1: read this, you too close. And somebody was like, where'd
- 4:39Speaker 1: you get that shirt? And I was like, I've had
- 4:41Speaker 1: this shirt for about five years. It's had nothing to
- 4:43Speaker 1: do with the pandemic. I like to you know, I
- 4:48Speaker 1: like a little distance. I like personal space. And I
- 4:50Speaker 1: know a lot of people don't understand that. Also, UM,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I do it bye bye rules. And I do think
- 4:55Speaker 1: that safety is very important. UM. If someone needs me
- 4:58Speaker 1: to marit, wear a mask. If thing that masks are
- 5:01Speaker 1: protecting us in some way, of course, I'm gonna do
- 5:02Speaker 1: what I need to do. UM. I have um older relatives,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I have young children. UM. I believe in, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 1: making sure that we're not spreading this thing even further.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I think it's kind of crazy that people are still, um,
- 5:15Speaker 1: moving just any way that they want to, and um,
- 5:19Speaker 1: not thinking about others. Um, sometimes you gotta you gotta
- 5:22Speaker 1: do what you gotta do, but if you just don't
- 5:24Speaker 1: want to sit in the house, Because I really feel
- 5:26Speaker 1: like this time really, UM, I was talking to my
- 5:29Speaker 1: mom about it this morning, how it forced a lot
- 5:32Speaker 1: of us to slow down and focus on things that
- 5:35Speaker 1: we weren't really focusing on, and um, this was a
- 5:38Speaker 1: time to do that. And UM, we all went through
- 5:40Speaker 1: different emotions of how to do it. But a lot
- 5:42Speaker 1: of people, you know, don't want to work on themselves,
- 5:45Speaker 1: so they don't want to sit at home with themselves
- 5:47Speaker 1: and just kind of figure out, Okay, well what can
- 5:49Speaker 1: I do to better me? You know, they like, no,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I want to do this, and I want to do that.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I have in tantrums and stuff. Um, but I really
- 5:56Speaker 1: took the time to to work on me and things
- 5:59Speaker 1: that I need to get an order in my life.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Um mentally, physically, mentally, physically everywhere, you know, every aspect
- 6:07Speaker 1: and just focus on that. But no, we're not we're
- 6:10Speaker 1: not knew moving like normal coming from this household. We
- 6:14Speaker 1: we're like, what excuse me, drop it on right there,
- 6:17Speaker 1: thank you? Or even where you're doing the show. I'm
- 6:21Speaker 1: assuming you're actually you take the pilot coming out of
- 6:24Speaker 1: COVID taping the series. How is this set? You know,
- 6:27Speaker 1: because you still gotta be funny, you still gotta be
- 6:30Speaker 1: comfortable with everybody around. It is a comedy, and so
- 6:33Speaker 1: you know, I know my background on thing you do.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Do you do a table read with every script? Do
- 6:38Speaker 1: they do a table and they do it via zoom
- 6:40Speaker 1: or do it do it live with the table reads? Well,
- 6:43Speaker 1: now we shot the pilot during the pandemic, and we're
- 6:46Speaker 1: still shooting the series right now. Uh, they have all
- 6:49Speaker 1: these extra rules, everything that's put in place. I basically
- 6:52Speaker 1: get here and makeup done and have to put a
- 6:53Speaker 1: mask and a shield back on my face. So it's
- 6:56Speaker 1: constant touch ups. Um. But for a table reads right now,
- 6:59Speaker 1: we do zoom table reads. Um. There's a lot of producers,
- 7:02Speaker 1: there's a lot of writers that we haven't even met
- 7:04Speaker 1: yet in person. Um, they've just been watching us on
- 7:08Speaker 1: the cameras and um, it's it's weird. Um. But of course,
- 7:12Speaker 1: the only time that we're able to be around each
- 7:14Speaker 1: other is when we're shooting and when we're rehearsing, and
- 7:16Speaker 1: you would it's weird sometimes because we'll we'll be next
- 7:19Speaker 1: to you. We'll they'll be like, no, you guys need
- 7:21Speaker 1: to be closer together for the shot, and we're like, oh,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I can, I can be close to the Okay, I
- 7:25Speaker 1: can Okay, And then um, with us actors, if you
- 7:30Speaker 1: if you do, if you have to be closer, you
- 7:31Speaker 1: have to kisser, you have to hug. Um, you're extra
- 7:34Speaker 1: tested that week. Um. I've had days where I've been um,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I've had to do three tests in one day, um,
- 7:39Speaker 1: just to make sure that we keep us safe and
- 7:42Speaker 1: our crew safe and UM. Yeah. So it's it's been
- 7:45Speaker 1: weird because you're kind of trying to develop these characters
- 7:49Speaker 1: when you can't really relax. So UM. That's why a
- 7:53Speaker 1: lot of us were a little anxious with the show
- 7:55Speaker 1: coming on because we're like, how did this happen? Like,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I hope everything went great because every thing is moving
- 8:00Speaker 1: kind of crazy on set, but I'm happy with it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I've watched it last night and I enjoyed it. So yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. And you know, like I said, now
- 8:09Speaker 1: are you the tallest person on the show man that
- 8:14Speaker 1: I am a very um you know it's a short lady. Uh,
- 8:19Speaker 1: and usually I am the shortest, but I think Miam
- 8:22Speaker 1: and I are around the around the same height, and
- 8:25Speaker 1: Leslie shorter than I am, um, but fells on, so
- 8:30Speaker 1: it looks like I'm way taller than them when I'm not.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Would you carry your newfound height? Well, okay, because because
- 8:39Speaker 1: because you know, I've seen the pilings, was very entertained
- 8:42Speaker 1: by it, and and you use such a natural kyla
- 8:46Speaker 1: in this this new opportunity to be a television in
- 8:49Speaker 1: the sitcom on Fox Network, What What what? Tell us
- 8:52Speaker 1: everybody about your character with your name Randy. The serious
- 8:55Speaker 1: is called called Me Can If you have not seen
- 8:57Speaker 1: it comes with every Thursday night on Fox, please tell
- 9:00Speaker 1: us about We'll call me Cat is a show based
- 9:03Speaker 1: on a show from the UK called Miranda. My character's
- 9:07Speaker 1: name on this show is Randy and she is the
- 9:10Speaker 1: barista in Cat Cat Cafe, who is young, vibrant, tells
- 9:15Speaker 1: it like it is, tells you even if you don't
- 9:17Speaker 1: want to hear it, She's gonna let you know. Um,
- 9:20Speaker 1: but she's the life of every party and um. Yeah,
- 9:24Speaker 1: it's a show about a woman a cat played by Myambiolic,
- 9:28Speaker 1: who is thirty nine, unmarried, doesn't have any kids, and
- 9:31Speaker 1: finally something happened in her life where she was just like,
- 9:35Speaker 1: I need to make a change and I don't want
- 9:37Speaker 1: to work as a math professor. This is not fulfilling
- 9:39Speaker 1: for me. And she just dropped everything that everybody said
- 9:43Speaker 1: that she needed to be doing and decided to her dream.
- 9:46Speaker 1: And so now you guys get to watch her live
- 9:48Speaker 1: her dream along with two crazy sidekicks who work in
- 9:52Speaker 1: the shop with her. And and we have more characters
- 9:55Speaker 1: at our at our bar next door middle c played
- 9:57Speaker 1: by Julian Again and Seyenne Jackson, and which is we're
- 10:01Speaker 1: having fun. It's a lot of fun. Okay. I assume
- 10:04Speaker 1: as the series go along, we'll learn more about your characters.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Right now, I'm seeing you as a very beautiful, very
- 10:10Speaker 1: opinionated not really into cats, but you work in a
- 10:16Speaker 1: cat plax, which is which is hilarious. A woman he's
- 10:20Speaker 1: like cats, but she's working in a cat cafe. Uh
- 10:24Speaker 1: that you know, Randy gotta make her money. She gotta
- 10:26Speaker 1: figure it up. I'm not running from it. I'm just
- 10:29Speaker 1: letting everybody know how crazy this character is. And let's
- 10:32Speaker 1: talk about my favorite man. He's a He's a star
- 10:35Speaker 1: on social media, Leslie George. He's about to be about
- 10:39Speaker 1: knee high. He's taller than he can dunk on Tattoo. Okay,
- 10:45Speaker 1: but you can't dunk on Kyla Prett. That's our show,
- 10:47Speaker 1: you now, Leslie? Is her hilarious. I remember going into
- 10:54Speaker 1: the writer's room and they said, we cast Phills character. Um,
- 10:58Speaker 1: he's amazing. You have to look at his Instagram. It's
- 11:01Speaker 1: the cutest, funniest thing ever. And I said, let me see,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and they showed me one thing and I was like,
- 11:06Speaker 1: oh my goodness, he's hilarious. I have to follow him.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Literally two weeks later is when he went viral, like
- 11:11Speaker 1: he became everybody's you know, go to during the pandemic.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And when I tell you, this man is so sweet
- 11:19Speaker 1: and so hilarious, like you never know what's gonna come
- 11:22Speaker 1: out of his mouth, Like what he gives you guys
- 11:24Speaker 1: on Instagram that is his every day. He is amazing.

- 13:23Speaker 1: T e r dot Ai. He really is amazing, and
- 13:26Speaker 1: so let me just tell you what she's talking about.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I think he went from like a half a million
- 13:32Speaker 1: Instagram follows to like five million. I think he loves
- 13:36Speaker 1: less than that. I think he was. I think he
- 13:38Speaker 1: was even lower than half a million, because I know
- 13:41Speaker 1: it's a real low number. I didn't want to like
- 13:42Speaker 1: go below what it could have been. But this is
- 13:45Speaker 1: an amazing low number. And if you go to this
- 13:47Speaker 1: Instagram account he dances. He let's give a little background here.
- 13:52Speaker 1: He does a lot of voice over work and which
- 13:53Speaker 1: we're gonna get you in a minute, because you're animated
- 13:56Speaker 1: reboot on Disney Plus because and so a lot of
- 13:59Speaker 1: people don't know him, but they've heard him, and so
- 14:03Speaker 1: to see him kind of playing out these little character
- 14:06Speaker 1: playoffs and stuff on TikTok and all these different platforms.
- 14:10Speaker 1: He's made for social media and he's fun and he's
- 14:13Speaker 1: an older guy, is very hip, very topical, very uh
- 14:17Speaker 1: you know, other body find it Compared to somebody like that,
- 14:19Speaker 1: I would say Dick Van Dyke type, because he doesn't
- 14:23Speaker 1: act his age and he's very relatable and you have
- 14:26Speaker 1: to be at all. He is a big old kid.
- 14:30Speaker 1: He eats all the props on the set. I'm like,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you're not, we need that for the next take, and
- 14:36Speaker 1: he's like, they got some more. He is Verry Is.
- 14:40Speaker 1: He's been in this game for so long and acting
- 14:43Speaker 1: for so long, and I think it's amazing that something
- 14:46Speaker 1: like Instagram has now shown the world who this man
- 14:49Speaker 1: really is. And he is absolutely hilarious. Like I I
- 14:53Speaker 1: like half the stuff that comes out of his mouth.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I don't even know how he's on Fox because he's
- 14:58Speaker 1: just like anything that comes of his branding, it is is out.
- 15:01Speaker 1: It's just and I'm like, let's say that. But he like,
- 15:06Speaker 1: he's the sweetest and he has so many great things
- 15:08Speaker 1: coming his way because of because of Instagram and then
- 15:12Speaker 1: and then seeing the things that he does and the
- 15:14Speaker 1: joy that he brings to everyone who follows him, it's like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: that's what we all needed, you know. So he just
- 15:20Speaker 1: he exploded at the right time we needed him. He
- 15:23Speaker 1: helped through He has so many people through this. Here's
- 15:26Speaker 1: the fun part about your show, because you know, we
- 15:29Speaker 1: all you know Hollywood, you know, you get a show,
- 15:32Speaker 1: your audition and they don't get a call back, and
- 15:34Speaker 1: then you get a show where the star of the
- 15:37Speaker 1: show comes from all and incredibly hits a hit series
- 15:41Speaker 1: called The Big Bang Theory. One of the executive producers
- 15:44Speaker 1: is from The Big Bang Theory. And now you get
- 15:47Speaker 1: to be a part of a show on Fox Television.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Tell us about that emotional You've got it in the
- 15:52Speaker 1: relationships that you built on the show with your leading lady,
- 15:56Speaker 1: who's Emmy nominated from The Big Bang Theory. What's crazy
- 16:01Speaker 1: is that, Um, this project came to me, UM from
- 16:05Speaker 1: the creative the show who's also producing. Darlene Hunt. I
- 16:08Speaker 1: worked with her previously and UM, She's like, I need
- 16:11Speaker 1: you to come in, I need you to test for this,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and UM, I heard that. You know, Miam was a
- 16:15Speaker 1: part of it, and Jim Parsons was a part of it,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and UM, just to even get the opportunity to be
- 16:20Speaker 1: in the same room as people that you know you
- 16:21Speaker 1: can learn from, UM was an amazing This thought of
- 16:26Speaker 1: the possibility of being able to do that, and then
- 16:28Speaker 1: to actually be able to become a part of the
- 16:31Speaker 1: show and work with these people that, when I tell you,
- 16:35Speaker 1: did not disappoint in any type of way. Maam is
- 16:40Speaker 1: literally like literally does everything, and she's so sweet and
- 16:44Speaker 1: gracious and a human being, and to to you know,
- 16:49Speaker 1: I've been in this business for a very long time,
- 16:51Speaker 1: and I've worked so much and there's not a lot
- 16:54Speaker 1: of times where I come across people where I'm like, Okay,
- 16:57Speaker 1: I have to watch everything this person is doing because
- 17:00Speaker 1: she is doing like she's doing everything and she's doing
- 17:04Speaker 1: it great. So you know, I just I feel so
- 17:08Speaker 1: blessed to be a part of a situation with people
- 17:11Speaker 1: who have worked so successfully for so long but are
- 17:13Speaker 1: also amazing human beings that show that you know, you
- 17:17Speaker 1: don't have to be crazy to make things work. I mean,
- 17:21Speaker 1: you gotta be a little crazy, but but the good crazy, well,
- 17:26Speaker 1: we know you're crazy. Penny Proud. Okay, Penny Proud. Did
- 17:31Speaker 1: you think it would come back? Um? I didn't. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: didn't think a lot of people. For years. My voice
- 17:47Speaker 1: hasn't changed at all, literally loved. Somebody's like, do your
- 17:50Speaker 1: kids listen to you? Because when you're talking, you don't
- 17:53Speaker 1: sound like nobody's mama. You sound like a little part
- 17:56Speaker 1: Like first of all, yes, they do listen to me.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Any way, No, I never thought that. Um. I mean
- 18:03Speaker 1: you've been hearing different things here and there, and so
- 18:05Speaker 1: many things are getting rebooted and remade, and so of
- 18:10Speaker 1: course I didn't, you know, think that it was I
- 18:13Speaker 1: heard talks, but I didn't think it would be a possibility.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And um then I got the call from Ralph Farquar
- 18:19Speaker 1: and Bruce Smith and they basically said they wanted to
- 18:21Speaker 1: give it a go. And I'm like, hey, like, okay,
- 18:25Speaker 1: anybody else playing Penny, So y'all have we better figured
- 18:27Speaker 1: this out? And and you know, brought everybody along for
- 18:32Speaker 1: the ride. And it's been tough because, um, we actually
- 18:35Speaker 1: started recording right before the right when the pandemic was happening,
- 18:39Speaker 1: and so we had to start recording everything at home.
- 18:42Speaker 1: And uh, it's difficult to record at home when you
- 18:45Speaker 1: have kids that are not in school and they loud
- 18:48Speaker 1: like their mama. So we're figuring this out though we're
- 18:51Speaker 1: making it happens. I'm like, maybe just for a few minutes,
- 18:59Speaker 1: he's trying to get up part in the show. That's
- 19:01Speaker 1: what I know what they're trying to do. Now let's
- 19:02Speaker 1: talk about this, this this character. You know when you
- 19:06Speaker 1: talk about recording at home, you know this is not
- 19:07Speaker 1: pick up your phone with your cell phone recording at
- 19:10Speaker 1: the home. They sent you some special equipment. How did
- 19:12Speaker 1: that work out? Oh? Yes, we had to get the
- 19:16Speaker 1: right mics, um, the right Uh everything that needed to
- 19:19Speaker 1: go into a computer. And I literally, when I tell
- 19:22Speaker 1: you this computer thing. Before this pandemic, I knew how
- 19:26Speaker 1: to ask some right email and uh, I knew how
- 19:29Speaker 1: to write to message, but as far as anything else, no,
- 19:34Speaker 1: So I've learned so much. Um. I had to learn
- 19:37Speaker 1: different tools and how to record myself and and even
- 19:41Speaker 1: having I don't even know the name of the things
- 19:43Speaker 1: that they sent, Like I had the abounce thing that
- 19:46Speaker 1: I had to put behind the microphone and I had
- 19:48Speaker 1: to put I went to visit my grandmother had to
- 19:52Speaker 1: put pillows on top of it to make sure that
- 19:54Speaker 1: the sound was the sound quality was good. Like, they
- 19:57Speaker 1: sent us so much stuff, and I'm like, Luckily my
- 20:01Speaker 1: man is uh the recording artist, so he knows how
- 20:04Speaker 1: to cook up all that stuff. And I was like, Okay,
- 20:06Speaker 1: I don't have to um cry today. So luckily I
- 20:11Speaker 1: had the help that I needed. But yeah, they sent
- 20:13Speaker 1: us everything. When you know, you have to learn sometimes.
- 20:17Speaker 1: And so the thing about it is that when you
- 20:19Speaker 1: get it, to get an opportunity. So you know, I
- 20:21Speaker 1: looked at the this is Disney Plus where I just
- 20:24Speaker 1: saw sold that Jamie Fox uh animazing, which is really great.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Is I've seen it twice. It's really fun. And then
- 20:30Speaker 1: I hear about this announcement, uh, you know, the return.
- 20:33Speaker 1: IMN just call it the return of Penny Proud. You
- 20:36Speaker 1: know family Louder and Prouder. So when I hear Louder
- 20:40Speaker 1: and Prouder, I hear volume. I hear that they're gonna
- 20:44Speaker 1: be all over the place. But we know your Disney
- 20:45Speaker 1: Plus so you're not gonna get extreme. What does Louder
- 20:48Speaker 1: and proud of me? But to me louder and prouder.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I feel like when I was recording The Proud Family
- 20:55Speaker 1: back in the day, I had no idea what I
- 20:57Speaker 1: was a party. I was fourteen years old, and I
- 20:59Speaker 1: didn't realize the things that we were talking about in
- 21:02Speaker 1: the messages that we were giving young kids watching UM
- 21:05Speaker 1: watching the cartoon. And I feel like Louder and prouder.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Now it's like we it's like Proud Family two point oh.
- 21:12Speaker 1: We basically upgraded the conversations that are gonna be happening.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And I'm surprised to some of the things that you know,
- 21:18Speaker 1: Disney Plus is allowing us to do. But you know,
- 21:21Speaker 1: we have to do those type of things if we
- 21:22Speaker 1: want to maintain the authenticity of being the Proud Family,
- 21:27Speaker 1: we have to come through with the messages. We have
- 21:30Speaker 1: to come through with the knowledge. We have to come
- 21:31Speaker 1: through with the real things that need to be said
- 21:34Speaker 1: and leads to be taught and learned about, especially in
- 21:36Speaker 1: our community. So I just feel like there's a lot
- 21:39Speaker 1: of different storylines that people are gonna be like, what,
- 21:44Speaker 1: But you know that it's it's teaching young, teaching me young.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Interesting thing about your career because I've been fortunate to
- 21:50Speaker 1: watch your career, you know, I've been fortunate to be
- 21:53Speaker 1: on set with you and watch the professionalism, watch you
- 21:56Speaker 1: watch how you at a young age and and and
- 21:59Speaker 1: and that's a young nager and become a young adult.
- 22:01Speaker 1: That's longevity. And you know, you have people who want
- 22:04Speaker 1: to get into business, can you give them any advice
- 22:06Speaker 1: or any thoughts to the process of what this business
- 22:09Speaker 1: can offer. You offer you for opportunity, but what you
- 22:12Speaker 1: have to give or sacrifice to be successful in this business. Uh,
- 22:16Speaker 1: this business is a very difficult one. UM. I always
- 22:20Speaker 1: tell people, please only get involved if it's something that
- 22:23Speaker 1: you have loved for that you love, um, fame and
- 22:28Speaker 1: all that popular stuff, and that doesn't really it's too
- 22:32Speaker 1: much going on to just want that. Um. And then
- 22:36Speaker 1: also it's it's practice, it's studying, it's taking it seriously,
- 22:42Speaker 1: it's it's it's it's a very difficult. It's like it's
- 22:46Speaker 1: mentally it can be completely draining. And I know a
- 22:49Speaker 1: lot of people looking at me and they're like, oh,
- 22:51Speaker 1: you're you know you you turned out so well when
- 22:53Speaker 1: and I said you know. That's because I was able
- 22:55Speaker 1: to recognize when things were too much for me or
- 22:58Speaker 1: when I need to just change how I looked at
- 23:00Speaker 1: things mentally, Like in this business, you're gonna be told
- 23:03Speaker 1: no a million times, and it's gonna make you question yourself.
- 23:07Speaker 1: It's gonna make you rethink everything that you know about you,
- 23:10Speaker 1: and you have to get stuck in your head that hey,
- 23:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep getting told no, But that doesn't mean
- 23:16Speaker 1: that I'm not good, that doesn't mean that I'm not
- 23:17Speaker 1: worth it. It It just means that that one thing wasn't
- 23:20Speaker 1: meant for me, and now I'm on the hunt for
- 23:21Speaker 1: the next thing. And uh, I know someone asked me recently,
- 23:25Speaker 1: like what did you audition for that you didn't get?
- 23:26Speaker 1: And it took me like ten minutes to think about
- 23:29Speaker 1: it because I was like, honestly after illip for something.
- 23:31Speaker 1: If I haven't heard back, oh no, it's out of
- 23:33Speaker 1: it's it's it's gone, and I'm on to the next thing.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I can't dwell on the past, you know. So if
- 23:39Speaker 1: you want to get into a business like this, you
- 23:40Speaker 1: just gotta make sure ear is straight because a lot
- 23:44Speaker 1: of people don't understand that, you know, we're human beings,
- 23:47Speaker 1: We're not machines, and we go through the same things
- 23:49Speaker 1: that everybody else goes through. And if you want to
- 23:52Speaker 1: do it, just keep hustling and fighting, and people gonna
- 23:54Speaker 1: tell you can't. Just like anything else, you gotta prove
- 23:56Speaker 1: them wrong. Well you, I'm proud of you, Penny, proud, okay.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And I've seen I've seen the journey and I know
- 24:06Speaker 1: you know, there's so many there's so many casualties out
- 24:08Speaker 1: there and you know what I'm talking about. And uh,
- 24:10Speaker 1: and it's sad by that process because it's really can
- 24:13Speaker 1: be famous on the series and then all of a sudden,
- 24:16Speaker 1: you're constantly chasing that that series or that moment or
- 24:19Speaker 1: that opportunity, and like you said, you have to actually
- 24:22Speaker 1: walk away. You have to shut down and don't let
- 24:24Speaker 1: these negatives win. And if you let the negatives win,
- 24:27Speaker 1: I think that's when that's when you don't have But
- 24:29Speaker 1: you've alway had a balanced life and I always tell
- 24:31Speaker 1: people on the show that it's important to have a
- 24:33Speaker 1: balanced life, that you are not consumed by what you
- 24:37Speaker 1: do but who you are, and you've always had that
- 24:40Speaker 1: as part of your mantra telling Can you tell us
- 24:42Speaker 1: about that Penny Pig, teach me call. I've always, um,
- 24:48Speaker 1: I've always wanted to have it all and UM, I
- 24:52Speaker 1: remember being younger and people like, don't have kids yet,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and I'm like, first of all, what I want to do? Um,
- 24:59Speaker 1: But I just feel like you have to have balance.
- 25:02Speaker 1: I understand that what I do for a living is
- 25:05Speaker 1: my job and I love it, and I'm very fortunate
- 25:08Speaker 1: to be able to do something that I love. Um,
- 25:11Speaker 1: it is not my complete entire life. UM. I am
- 25:15Speaker 1: a regular person with an extraordinary job. And UM, it's difficult,
- 25:20Speaker 1: especially in a business like this, because you, like you said,
- 25:22Speaker 1: you have those moments where you have the TV shows
- 25:25Speaker 1: and you're on top, and the next thing you know,
- 25:28Speaker 1: people are looking at you like you've never worked before,
- 25:30Speaker 1: and you're like, wait, what, Like I've been hustling and
- 25:34Speaker 1: I've been doing X, Y and Z, and what do
- 25:36Speaker 1: you mean? And you kind of just have to, like
- 25:39Speaker 1: I said, it's all it's all about your mental and
- 25:42Speaker 1: and understanding. Like I tell my kids all the time,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I'm like, mommy has always wanted to be a mommy,
- 25:46Speaker 1: and mommy has always wants to be an actress. So
- 25:49Speaker 1: mommy has to juggle both if mommy's tired, so what
- 25:52Speaker 1: mommy gotta figure out when they're nappying, or you know,
- 25:55Speaker 1: like just continue to you know, fight for your dreams
- 25:57Speaker 1: and what you want to do, but also recognize that
- 26:01Speaker 1: you know, one thing in your life is not everything.
- 26:05Speaker 1: You know. I love you from a standpoint of who
- 26:08Speaker 1: you are, the brand you presented yourself, your beautiful more,
- 26:11Speaker 1: beautiful mom, beautiful wife. She starts in the new series

- 26:18Speaker 1: always loved because my boy rand far Card, that's my
- 26:21Speaker 1: boy over there. Uh, the Penny prowd, the return, you know,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you know Ralph's coming with it. You know they playing games.
- 26:32Speaker 1: If we're coming back, we're coming back hard again. Continue
- 26:37Speaker 1: to grow, grow on social media, continue to be the brand.
