- 1:24Speaker 1: This ra Sean McDonald another great show, MNDY making conversation.
- 1:28Speaker 1: That's what we do entertainment entrepreneurship. We deliver the message,
- 1:33Speaker 1: the unwritten rule that you can be a celebrity and
- 1:36Speaker 1: talk about other things other than what you do or
- 1:39Speaker 1: what you're known for, because you have a brain. You
- 1:41Speaker 1: have a brain out there that's three sixty. In other words,
- 1:44Speaker 1: you're also making money while you're sleeping. Other than whether
- 1:47Speaker 1: you're a singer, an athlete, you know, you're CEO, you're
- 1:56Speaker 1: a small business owner. That's what this shows us about.
- 1:58Speaker 1: It is like giving the voice to the to the
- 2:01Speaker 1: business side and the millennials eating it up eighteen and
- 2:04Speaker 1: thirty four. That's that generation. A lot of people don't
- 2:06Speaker 1: realize that one third of the workforce is self employed,
- 2:11Speaker 1: so they we're delivering the message that wants to be
- 2:13Speaker 1: heard and is being delivered brilliant to be about a
- 2:16Speaker 1: lot of talent, the people that come on my show
- 2:18Speaker 1: that are in the fields of athletics, success, Netta range, celebrities,
- 2:24Speaker 1: industry decision maker, CEOs. Let me just tell you by
- 2:27Speaker 1: my next guest. He's on the phone right now. My
- 2:30Speaker 1: next is an NFL fan favorite. He ended. He entered
- 2:33Speaker 1: the NFL as the first overall pick in two thousand
- 2:36Speaker 1: one with their line of Falcons and just five years
- 2:39Speaker 1: with the Falcon victory three pro Bros two thousand, two
- 2:43Speaker 1: thousand to two thousand four or two thousand five, and
- 2:45Speaker 1: led the team to two playoff appearances, including the NFC
- 2:49Speaker 1: Championship in two thousand four. I remember that game. I
- 2:51Speaker 1: remember that. During his final season in the Lanta, he
- 2:55Speaker 1: put on one of the best performances, breaking the single
- 2:58Speaker 1: season Russian record for a quarter act and becoming the
- 3:01Speaker 1: first quarterback in NFL history to rush for one thousand
- 3:04Speaker 1: yards in the season. Please walk on the money making
- 3:07Speaker 1: conversation the incredible Michael Vick. Uh, thank you, Hey Michael, Michael,
- 3:15Speaker 1: Come on, Mike, that was Mike. I laid you out, man,
- 3:17Speaker 1: I laid you out, working on working on out here,
- 3:26Speaker 1: Mike had night. I'm at home for putting all these
- 3:30Speaker 1: words together, man to mix sure up for my board
- 3:33Speaker 1: where he's old to be alleged. Man, I'm gonna something. Man, Mike,
- 3:41Speaker 1: you're I'm a fan of you, not only as an
- 3:44Speaker 1: athlete but a business person. Uh. Game changer. Um uh,
- 3:52Speaker 1: just just the world. I had called Francis on the show. Uh.
- 3:55Speaker 1: A lot of people don't know direct your communication for
- 3:58Speaker 1: the NFL pad and and and one of your questions
- 4:02Speaker 1: talked about you re launching his your team VIC foundation.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's a give back to youth and community and then
- 4:10Speaker 1: but what I know is the Hampton Hampton Roads where
- 4:13Speaker 1: you're from. You know you've teamed up with Pittsburgh dealer
- 4:17Speaker 1: coach Mike Tomlin. Of course, you teamed up with Carl Francis,
- 4:21Speaker 1: who was an NFLPA community director of communications. You've never
- 4:25Speaker 1: stopped giving back, Mike. Yeah. Yeah. And also when I
- 4:29Speaker 1: was in when I was playing in Philadelphia, I don't
- 4:32Speaker 1: need a two hundred thousand dollars football field, UM Team
- 4:35Speaker 1: VIC field to the city of Germantown. So you know
- 4:40Speaker 1: I've done some things that you know, people, you know,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I don't do it for a recognition, you know, I
- 4:45Speaker 1: do it from the goodness of my heart and um,
- 4:48Speaker 1: you know, just a giveback. You know, it's always gotta
- 4:51Speaker 1: be you know, something that said at the center of
- 4:53Speaker 1: your of your heart. And you know what I mean,
- 4:56Speaker 1: these kids coming behind us that they really need our help.
- 5:00Speaker 1: And right now the Team Big Foundation is about to relaunch,
- 5:04Speaker 1: coming back stronger. We're coming back with you know, a
- 5:07Speaker 1: ton of support and and and and people who are
- 5:11Speaker 1: gonna be able to help us, you know, accomplished division
- 5:15Speaker 1: and and that's you know, being able to to make
- 5:18Speaker 1: you know, kids lives better, to help improve their upbringing.
- 5:22Speaker 1: And uh, you know I won't say give them a
- 5:24Speaker 1: sense of hope, let them know that you know, they
- 5:27Speaker 1: have an opportunity to rely on people who are going
- 5:30Speaker 1: to help them, you know, find some level of success
- 5:33Speaker 1: in their life. And they have no opportunity what to
- 5:36Speaker 1: listen but to follow protocol and guidelines. You know, that's
- 5:40Speaker 1: what it be, you know, predicated around it it'll be strict,
- 5:44Speaker 1: will be in the city driven, and you know in
- 5:46Speaker 1: in in the suburban, every is because everybody needs um.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Aren't just all from you know, a monetary standpoint. Sometimes
- 5:55Speaker 1: people need you need things, um in terms of you know,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you know, it's from from this, uh, you know, being
- 6:03Speaker 1: able to talk and in the mental standpoint of shopping up.
- 6:06Speaker 1: So yeah, man, it's you know, I go on and
- 6:09Speaker 1: knowing about that, but yeah, I'm excited about it. But
- 6:12Speaker 1: I want you to go on and on because of
- 6:14Speaker 1: the fact that because it's the fact that we're in
- 6:16Speaker 1: the era of you shout out your love, you shout
- 6:19Speaker 1: out your message. That's what social media is about nowadays.
- 6:21Speaker 1: You know, I would tell people social media is your
- 6:23Speaker 1: own private press conference. You know. I remember, I remember
- 6:27Speaker 1: when you shouted out that love for Lamar Jackson, when
- 6:29Speaker 1: you said, no, no, no, no, he five times better
- 6:32Speaker 1: than me. You just put him on the platform and
- 6:36Speaker 1: that was all over ESPN, right right. They ate that
- 6:39Speaker 1: up for they're still talking about it now to this day.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And just that you know, one headline really went a
- 6:46Speaker 1: long way for Lamar in terms of you know, his
- 6:49Speaker 1: draft process and this progress. UM. So you know, I
- 6:53Speaker 1: look at it from a point like sometimes you say
- 6:56Speaker 1: things you don't know the impact that is going to
- 6:58Speaker 1: have on the individual. It's just it just comes out.
- 7:01Speaker 1: And I came out, um, you know, just out of
- 7:04Speaker 1: pure team with it. And you know, I'm glad that
- 7:08Speaker 1: you know, I was able to help him, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 1: improve his draft. You had to see I saw the
- 7:14Speaker 1: game that you responded afterwards like whoa hey, yeah, And
- 7:19Speaker 1: then you know, I think ultimately when you look at it,
- 7:23Speaker 1: two coaches that I worked with in Philadelphia on his
- 7:26Speaker 1: coaches now, so my voice is heard. And they got
- 7:31Speaker 1: a good player in Lamark Jackson with the Ravens, and
- 7:34Speaker 1: that's really important, and that to to what you The
- 7:37Speaker 1: thing about this is that is that as a a
- 7:39Speaker 1: guy who's been successful in a lot of lanes talking
- 7:41Speaker 1: about myself, I've always been a fan and I was
- 7:45Speaker 1: one play, I'm just gotta, I gotta, I gotta get
- 7:47Speaker 1: the Michael Vick play that that that you know, and
- 7:50Speaker 1: when we took TOIME, I always tell people when you're
- 7:52Speaker 1: watching the game, when you play, you never want to
- 7:55Speaker 1: watch the game by yourself. That's the worst thing. That's
- 7:57Speaker 1: the worst thing in the World's to watch the game
- 8:01Speaker 1: with Michael Vick because you can't trying to nobody to go.
- 8:10Speaker 1: So so it was when you were playing against Minnesota
- 8:13Speaker 1: and Uh, I think it's like a fifty five yard
- 8:16Speaker 1: touchdown run. You went back to pass and you split
- 8:19Speaker 1: the safeties. My man, I was like, nobody was around me, Mike.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I had never seen a guy that fast throw the
- 8:29Speaker 1: ball and run the ball simultaneously. And when you split
- 8:33Speaker 1: the safety and like the whole even if the broadcasters
- 8:37Speaker 1: lost their mind, because that's the type of talent that
- 8:40Speaker 1: you brought to the field, and you're bringing that same
- 8:43Speaker 1: type of talent off the field with your community efforts
- 8:46Speaker 1: and with your business efforts. You kind of like balancing
- 8:49Speaker 1: and out. Now you're taking the same God given talents
- 8:52Speaker 1: and letting people know that, yes, I have this brilliant
- 8:56Speaker 1: physical gift that God gave me. Now you're showing everybody
- 9:00Speaker 1: did from an analyst to now a community act. That's
- 9:03Speaker 1: why I had to bring up that Mike Tomlin relationship
- 9:06Speaker 1: that you have a call Frances because because people cause
- 9:10Speaker 1: a great guy called one of the guys that you
- 9:13Speaker 1: know throughout all circumstances, see who was there for me? Um,
- 9:18Speaker 1: Like I said, Uh, mentally. And when I was going
- 9:23Speaker 1: back to you know, everything is out about money or
- 9:26Speaker 1: monetary Carl was one of the guys who illustrated that
- 9:30Speaker 1: to me. You know, just when I was going through
- 9:33Speaker 1: my personal problems, call was there to give me advice
- 9:36Speaker 1: on the day to day basis and basically talk of
- 9:40Speaker 1: my mood every day. And I thought that was just
- 9:42Speaker 1: extremely important, man, and do those lessons. You know, Andy
- 9:46Speaker 1: Reid did the same thing. And um, you know, any
- 9:50Speaker 1: guy who was an influence in my life as a coach,
- 9:53Speaker 1: my high school coach, they all, you know, we're there
- 9:56Speaker 1: for me mentally. And I feel like, you know, that
- 9:58Speaker 1: has to be passed more generation to generation. And you know,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I used to talk to Rees a lot, you know,
- 10:05Speaker 1: back in the day. So I always just tell me
- 10:06Speaker 1: when I was young, you know, you know, I ain't
- 10:09Speaker 1: shopping iron shopping then and I never forget that. So
- 10:13Speaker 1: I try to live by that. And you know, not
- 10:16Speaker 1: the force it onto you know, young kids or you
- 10:19Speaker 1: know somebody who you know who's older than me. I
- 10:22Speaker 1: just I beat myself and and you know, you just
- 10:25Speaker 1: let it come out of the flow natural. Right now,
- 10:27Speaker 1: I wanted to bring this up. I'm going to go
- 10:29Speaker 1: to a break here. But I want to bring this
- 10:31Speaker 1: up about you paid back the seventeen point four million
- 10:35Speaker 1: dollars you old and you could have easily have filed
- 10:37Speaker 1: for bankrupts. So you paid it back in two thousand
- 10:39Speaker 1: and I remember when you said, hey, you wrote that
- 10:41Speaker 1: last check? You said done. You know why was it important?
- 10:46Speaker 1: You know, I know why I'd like I said, I
- 10:48Speaker 1: don't want back my whole life as an African American.
- 10:51Speaker 1: I fought for my credit. You know, I don't play,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I don't pay nobody slow. But this seventeen point four
- 10:56Speaker 1: million dollars. Yeah, yeah, and and and you know, and
- 11:01Speaker 1: you know the luxury and that was I was able
- 11:03Speaker 1: to keep another seventeen point four million dollars, so you know,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and I'm looking at it like, okay, I could easily
- 11:09Speaker 1: have thirty four million aalargies get in my bank account.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But what good is it if you can't leverage it,
- 11:15Speaker 1: you know, with business relationships and personal relationships, because if
- 11:19Speaker 1: you know, if you should, like anybody in this world,
- 11:22Speaker 1: when it comes to money, you know, you lose a
- 11:25Speaker 1: ton of respect. You know, people put a lot of
- 11:27Speaker 1: times when in a dollar. You know, it's so true,
- 11:31Speaker 1: and um, you know, I just look at it if
- 11:33Speaker 1: I have a lot of life to live out for football,
- 11:35Speaker 1: and obviously, you know, if I'm you know, shipping on
- 11:38Speaker 1: you know, a certain amount of money, and obviously I
- 11:40Speaker 1: would want that money to grow. Um, you know, I
- 11:43Speaker 1: don't think, you know, a certain amount of money is
- 11:47Speaker 1: ever gonna be enough. You know, it's that it's never
- 11:49Speaker 1: enough for anybody listening who you know think, Um, a
- 11:52Speaker 1: million knowledge is a lot, or a ten million knowledge
- 11:54Speaker 1: is a lot. Though you should always strive for more,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know. And you know, if you know, working on
- 12:00Speaker 1: a thirty five thousand hours salary, then figure out the
- 12:04Speaker 1: way that you know, you know, to get the fifty
- 12:09Speaker 1: you know. So I think everything it's always a growing process, man,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and and everything we're doing, you know, in that in
- 12:15Speaker 1: that particular case, I didn't want people to think that,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you know, I wasn't a man of my word. I
- 12:22Speaker 1: knew it, you know, playing football beyond you know, the
- 12:25Speaker 1: time I wanted to was gonna be important, But living
- 12:28Speaker 1: life out the football was gonna be important. That was
- 12:30Speaker 1: gonna be building with people who can trust me and
- 12:32Speaker 1: my word. And that's you know, with a certain money
- 12:35Speaker 1: and that's when we come back. We're gonna talk about
- 12:37Speaker 1: you know, the Fox Sports trust you, this new flag football,
- 12:41Speaker 1: They trust you. You launching a new clothing brand. Just
- 12:44Speaker 1: trust you. Be back back with more. Michael vent the
- 12:48Speaker 1: incredible Michael Vent I might have another intro for you
- 12:51Speaker 1: on the backside. To Michael Vick, I am back the
- 12:58Speaker 1: incredible Michael Vick is on the phone. Um, this young man,
- 13:03Speaker 1: UM changed the game of football. Uh. He brought hip
- 13:06Speaker 1: hop to football. Um. When he was here with t J.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Duckett done, it was a DVD backfield. You don't talk
- 13:19Speaker 1: about the show another week. Man, I'm saying some man.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I'm just I'm just following the circle with you, Michael.
- 13:25Speaker 1: All the messages done. Uh. Carl Francis was on the show.
- 13:29Speaker 1: T J. Ducket Man, I love that dude. Man who's
- 13:32Speaker 1: doing great things as an entrepreneur, was on the show
- 13:35Speaker 1: talking about that experience, and I just want to I
- 13:38Speaker 1: just want to talk about that experience a little bit
- 13:40Speaker 1: because of the fact that and I'm not saying that
- 13:43Speaker 1: that that whole Virginia area because Alan Iron Persson is
- 13:47Speaker 1: from that area and a lot of brilliant, talented athletic
- 13:51Speaker 1: people are from that area, and Alan Irrison, he changed
- 13:56Speaker 1: the view that that he brought hip hop into basketball.
- 14:00Speaker 1: He really urbanized it and made it feel because that
- 14:03Speaker 1: was the that was the talent that was dominating the sport.
- 14:06Speaker 1: But it didn't it didn't it wasn't embraced by the
- 14:10Speaker 1: talent that was supplying the athlete. And I like to
- 14:15Speaker 1: believe that when you came in, you did the same
- 14:18Speaker 1: thing for the NFL am I correcting saying that, yeah,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and that was through so you know, we're from the
- 14:27Speaker 1: same neighborhood. And of me looking up to him and
- 14:30Speaker 1: watching him accomplished everything that he was able to and
- 14:33Speaker 1: such a you know sort of spending time. You know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I watched this every move and that move was part
- 14:40Speaker 1: of my every move. So you know, you you know,
- 14:44Speaker 1: you look up to guys and you don't even know
- 14:48Speaker 1: when young, how big of an influence that they have
- 14:51Speaker 1: on you as a as a role model. You're being
- 14:54Speaker 1: a fan, you know, because when that I was the
- 14:57Speaker 1: first went to the NBA, I you know, in high school,
- 15:02Speaker 1: right you know, so you know I looked at him
- 15:05Speaker 1: every time I've seen him, so we got him that level.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I just followed him and you know me being influenced
- 15:12Speaker 1: by him helped me to transcend the culture, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 1: in the NFL. And you know I took that same
- 15:19Speaker 1: bridge style and that same budget looked, so to speak,
- 15:22Speaker 1: and you know, I made it a part of my
- 15:25Speaker 1: game because I felt like that's what that's what I
- 15:27Speaker 1: needed to be. I had to take on a broader appearance,
- 15:32Speaker 1: you know, you know, just to do something different. And
- 15:35Speaker 1: I was I was always a fan of being different,
- 15:37Speaker 1: you know, so I tell my team to this day,
- 15:40Speaker 1: you know, I love ideas that's different. That's really important
- 15:44Speaker 1: because you know, Alan Irish, don't if anybody doesn't know
- 15:46Speaker 1: legendary Philadelphia, Uh, Philadelphis having to section basketball player number
- 15:52Speaker 1: one pick in the draft, by the way, played his
- 15:54Speaker 1: college ball at George Now, you played your college ball
- 15:56Speaker 1: in Virginia Tech. So neither one y'all went that fall
- 16:00Speaker 1: from home. Y'all stay closed. Now, y'all stay that Virginia's cold. Okay,
- 16:06Speaker 1: Mama Mama's boys, and we love the finger. Now. Now, now,
- 16:12Speaker 1: when you got an opportunity to hear to be an
- 16:15Speaker 1: analyst Fox Sports NFL kickoff show on Fox, Okay, here
- 16:22Speaker 1: you are, you're You're you're extremely talented athlete, but everybody
- 16:28Speaker 1: is not extremely talented. In the words, you have natural
- 16:31Speaker 1: guard gifts, and there's a lot of players who have
- 16:33Speaker 1: to work hard to achieve the same opportunity that you get.
- 16:37Speaker 1: What are you in preparation for? You know, you don't
- 16:40Speaker 1: want to be critical players because you have to meet
- 16:43Speaker 1: these players. How do you how do you approach you
- 16:45Speaker 1: prepping for those shows? Well, you know, it's it's it's
- 16:50Speaker 1: kind of tricky. Um, you know, I think you know,
- 16:55Speaker 1: to my advantage, I played the game, so I know
- 17:00Speaker 1: players feelings and emotions after win or loss, and just
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm just saying that just to keep it simple. So
- 17:06Speaker 1: when I when I go on TV and I'm able
- 17:09Speaker 1: to talk about it, I'm such a fan of the game,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I know how to bring it out in a positive
- 17:14Speaker 1: and negative way, but in a way where where it's
- 17:18Speaker 1: you know, constructive criticism, you know, And I'm trying to
- 17:23Speaker 1: help you see that. Listen, there's a problem. It needs
- 17:26Speaker 1: to be fixed. Um. If this problem don't be fixed,
- 17:29Speaker 1: to become bigger, and you know, you kind of lead
- 17:32Speaker 1: it up, lead up to a week by week based
- 17:35Speaker 1: on you know, every players storyline. Every player in the
- 17:38Speaker 1: NFL has a storyline. You know, if you're playing you
- 17:42Speaker 1: know guys you know, playing the offensive line, they're not.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It's visible. So you know, if one guys given up
- 17:48Speaker 1: ten sacks the game, and yeah, he'll be a storyline.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But you know guys like Godell Beckham, we watches every move,
- 17:54Speaker 1: you know, Drew Breeze, he watches every move my round.
- 17:58Speaker 1: You know, the premier players in the game. You know,
- 18:02Speaker 1: give us something to talk about weekend and week out
- 18:05Speaker 1: based on performance, and I know what it should look like.
- 18:07Speaker 1: So it helps me when I get on set. Now.
- 18:10Speaker 1: It also helps is the fact that you still maintain
- 18:13Speaker 1: this high profile television parents and then you're launching a
