Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: So many of you are asking the same question that
- 0:02Speaker 1: I've been asked. And I was in Washington, d C.
- 0:05Speaker 1: I saw the Senate Majority Leaner Thune and several other
- 0:08Speaker 1: elected officials, all of them kind of having the same conversation.
- 0:12Speaker 2: What is actually in this deal?
- 0:14Speaker 1: Senator Cruz and I sat down to talk about exactly that,
- 0:17Speaker 1: what's in the deal and should you be concerned. There's
- 0:20Speaker 1: also a lot of disinformation coming out of Tehran that's
- 0:23Speaker 1: being reported on the US like it is fact. We're
- 0:26Speaker 1: going to break all that down for you right now.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It was a very interesting day. I was in DC
- 0:32Speaker 1: and I was in Fox in the green room, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: there was a lot of activity with this Iran deal.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I was doing a couple of different shows and everybody
- 0:40Speaker 1: was trying to figure out are we excited about the deal?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Are we not?
- 0:45Speaker 1: I had friends on TV that were saying they think
- 0:47Speaker 1: this is not a great deal. I had friends on
- 0:49Speaker 1: TV that said this is a great deal. I had
- 0:51Speaker 1: people in between. There was elected officials that I was
- 0:55Speaker 1: talking to as well. They were asking me what do
- 0:57Speaker 1: I think? But how is this going to play out?
- 1:00Speaker 1: My synopsis was this, and I want to get your take.
- 1:03Speaker 1: The President understands midterms are coming and we have to
- 1:06Speaker 1: win the midterms. Gas prices need to be lower before
- 1:09Speaker 1: the midterms. He had a simple promise, which was to
- 1:11Speaker 1: make sure rand doesn't get a nuclear weapon. That is
- 1:14Speaker 1: the promise that people care about the most. All Right,
- 1:17Speaker 1: I want to take a moment and talk to you
- 1:18Speaker 1: about what's happening right now in this country. And it
- 1:21Speaker 1: really feels like our country is finally getting the momentum
- 1:24Speaker 1: we needed again. Our leaders are fighting to restore common
- 1:27Speaker 1: sense in America first, but we've also seen this before.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Conservatives get comfortable, the left starts taking background inch by inch,
- 1:37Speaker 1: and we cannot let that happen in these midterm elections.
- 1:40Speaker 1: America needs every one of us in the fight, and
- 1:43Speaker 1: a big part of that means supporting companies that actually
- 1:45Speaker 1: stand for our values. And that's why I'm proud to

- 3:03Speaker 1: dot com slash ferguson. Are nine to seven to Patriot
- 3:06Speaker 1: and make the switch right now. We also know we
- 3:09Speaker 1: have a president that has no problem bombing bad guys
- 3:12Speaker 1: when they're acting up, and if Iran does anything that
- 3:15Speaker 1: the President things a threat to us, he's clearly going
- 3:17Speaker 1: to act. I think you put all that together, that's
- 3:20Speaker 1: kind of where we are right now. What is your
- 3:23Speaker 1: reaction and what are your colleagues saying?
- 3:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Look, I think there's a lot of uncertainty right now.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Nobody knows what is in the deal. Yeah, I'm in
- 3:34Speaker 3: the Senate. I have had no communication about what is
- 3:38Speaker 3: in this deal. So I'm doing the same thing you
- 3:41Speaker 3: guys are doing. I'm reading the news, I'm watching Twitter,
- 3:47Speaker 3: and you see all sorts of different reports and it's
- 3:50Speaker 3: difficult to understand the actual substance of what's in it.
- 3:55Speaker 3: There's also active misrepresentation, so Iran is putting out massive
- 4:01Speaker 3: information basically saying this is a total victory for Iran.
- 4:05Speaker 3: We've won. The United States has capitulated. Now, I don't
- 4:08Speaker 3: believe what Iran is putting out, but right now, nobody
- 4:13Speaker 3: in the Senate, nobody in the Congress, has the details
- 4:15Speaker 3: of what the agreement is. So I have By the.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Way, there is some trust and verify here for the Senate,
- 4:22Speaker 1: for you other to understand this to lift the sanctions,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you guys are gonna know exactly what's in there, and
- 4:29Speaker 1: you have to agree to it.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Am I right?
- 4:31Speaker 3: And then how this works, look, it depends the way
- 4:34Speaker 3: the sanctioned laws are written. The President has quite a
- 4:37Speaker 3: bit of discretion. I hope and believe this deal will
- 4:42Speaker 3: come before the Congress and will know the specifics of it,
- 4:45Speaker 3: and we're going to know them in time. But this
- 4:47Speaker 3: is you know, we're ours into this. This is very early.
- 4:52Speaker 3: I will let me talk about different elements that may
- 4:55Speaker 3: or may not be in the deal. One of the
- 4:57Speaker 3: elements that has been widely reported is that Iran is
- 5:01Speaker 3: going to get three hundred billion dollars in order to
- 5:07Speaker 3: rebuild Iran, and those are going to come from frozen
- 5:13Speaker 3: funds from other sources. It's not clear where that's going
- 5:15Speaker 3: to come from. I've got to say, I very much
- 5:19Speaker 3: hope that is not true. If somehow we are flowing
- 5:24Speaker 3: three hundred billion dollars to Iran, I think that is
- 5:28Speaker 3: an incredibly foolish idea. Yeah, I agree with you.
- 5:32Speaker 1: By the way, that's no different than the palets of
- 5:35Speaker 1: cash and appeasement in many people's eyes.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Actually it is different. Obama flew one point seven billion
- 5:42Speaker 3: dollars in cash into Iran. Joe Biden flowed one hundred
- 5:47Speaker 3: billion dollars into Iran during his four years. If and
- 5:52Speaker 3: I do not know that this is right, but if
- 5:54Speaker 3: we are sending three hundred billion dollars three x what
- 5:57Speaker 3: Biden sent. I think that is utterly indefensible. So I
- 6:01Speaker 3: am hoping that is not true. I have no confirmation
- 6:05Speaker 3: it's true. Iran is saying it's true, but I don't
- 6:07Speaker 3: trust them, so that would be an enormous mistake. And listen,
- 6:13Speaker 3: it is universally reported. This is a deal that has
- 6:17Speaker 3: been negotiated by jd.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Vance.
- 6:19Speaker 3: He has been the point person on negotiating this deal.
- 6:22Speaker 3: He is now doing the talk show circuit defending the deal.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But we don't know what the specifics are. I got
- 6:29Speaker 3: to say, if the decision is let's give actually here,
- 6:34Speaker 3: I want to share something so Chris Ruddy. Chris Ruddy
- 6:37Speaker 3: is something someone you and I both know.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Well.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, he is the owner of Newsmacks. Chris Ruddy wrote
- 6:44Speaker 3: a very important opad on Newsmacks and I want to
- 6:47Speaker 3: share some of it. The title of it is say
- 6:51Speaker 3: no to three hundred billion dollar Iran reconstruction Fund. And
- 6:56Speaker 3: here's what Chris wrote. President Trump was right to call
- 6:59Speaker 3: reports of a three hundred billion dollar reconstruction fund for
- 7:02Speaker 3: Iran quote fake news. He should keep calling them that
- 7:07Speaker 3: until the idea is dead. Buried and impossible to revive.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Under another name, Vice President J. D. Vance has sought
- 7:16Speaker 3: to reassure skeptics about the plan. Quote, the Iranians are
- 7:20Speaker 3: not receiving any cash and no funds are being released
- 7:23Speaker 3: for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting, the
- 7:25Speaker 3: Vice President said this past weekend. Vance then said the
- 7:29Speaker 3: economic benefits would flow only if Tehran meets his obligations
- 7:34Speaker 3: under a future agreement. That is better than a blank check,
- 7:39Speaker 3: but it suggests a three hundred billion dollars check is
- 7:43Speaker 3: still in the works and part of the memorandum of
- 7:46Speaker 3: understandings that start sixty days that starts a sixty day ceasefire.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Here's the central question. Why should Iran receive access to
- 7:59Speaker 3: any recon instruction fund, let alone one with three hundred
- 8:04Speaker 3: billion dollars. That's a third of a trillion dollars. The
- 8:08Speaker 3: floated proposal makes no sense. Worse, it is dangerous, and
- 8:15Speaker 3: Ruddy continues. It would reward a maniacal regime not for reforming,
- 8:21Speaker 3: not for compensating its victims, and not for abandoning terror
- 8:25Speaker 3: as an instrument of state craft. It would reward Iran
- 8:29Speaker 3: for surviving a war it provoked through decades of nuclear blackmail,
- 8:35Speaker 3: proxy violence, and regional aggression. Let's put this in perspective.
- 8:40Speaker 3: For more than forty years, Iran's rulers have obsessed over
- 8:44Speaker 3: acquiring the capability to destroy Israel, threaten America, and dominate
- 8:49Speaker 3: the Middle East. They call the United States the quote
- 8:53Speaker 3: Great Satan. They burned through tens of billions of dollars
- 8:58Speaker 3: and effectively checked out of the civil community of nations
- 9:01Speaker 3: in pursuit of their dream nuclear weapons. They have repeatedly
- 9:05Speaker 3: stated their aim publicly and loudly quote to wipe Israel
- 9:10Speaker 3: off the map. In the interim of that goal, Tehran
- 9:15Speaker 3: has funded Mayhem across the region. Hesbela so clearly backed
- 9:20Speaker 3: by Iran it has been part of their negotiations, has
- 9:23Speaker 3: long terrorized northern Israel for forty years. Hesbela has fired
- 9:28Speaker 3: tens of thousands of rockets into Israel, costing billions in damage,
- 9:33Speaker 3: thousands of casualties, and hundreds of deaths. The Huthis, another
- 9:37Speaker 3: proxy of Tehran, have fired missiles at Israel and disrupted
- 9:42Speaker 3: international shipping for years. They have attacked US naval ships
- 9:46Speaker 3: with drones and missiles no less than four hundred times.
- 9:53Speaker 3: This is not a misunderstood regime looking for an off ramp.
- 9:57Speaker 3: It's a revolutionary regime that made violence its business model.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Even the assassination of President Trump remains a priority business item.
- 10:09Speaker 3: So Chris's op ed and it goes on. It's a
- 10:12Speaker 3: lengthy op ed, so I'm not going to read the
- 10:14Speaker 3: rest of it, but it makes the powerful case. I
- 10:17Speaker 3: very much hope the reports that three hundred billion dollars
- 10:21Speaker 3: are going to flow to Iran, I hope those are false,
- 10:24Speaker 3: and I don't know that they're true. I have no
- 10:26Speaker 3: basis to believe they're true. But I got to say,
- 10:30Speaker 3: sending three hundred billion dollars to theocratic lunatics who want
- 10:35Speaker 3: to murder us is not a good idea. I am
- 10:40Speaker 3: very much hoping hoping that is Iranian misinformation and that
- 10:43Speaker 3: is not part of the deal. And I want you
- 10:47Speaker 3: to listen to President Trump discussing where things stand at
- 10:52Speaker 3: the G seven. Here go listen.
- 10:58Speaker 5: It's a very important document.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And unlike Obama, who could have destroyed the Middle East
- 11:05Speaker 4: with a horrible jc POA, it is the worst agreement
- 11:11Speaker 4: that was a road to a nuclear weapon.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Mine is a wall against a nuclear weapon. I mean,
- 11:16Speaker 5: I see these people say, but we already had one.
- 11:19Speaker 5: He paid a fortune for it. We paid nothing. We
- 11:21Speaker 5: don't pay. There was some statement we're going to spend
- 11:24Speaker 5: three hundred million dollars. Now we're allowed to go and
- 11:27Speaker 5: invest if we wanted to someday in the future. We
- 11:30Speaker 5: have no obligation whatsoever. It could be that Iran will
- 11:34Speaker 5: turn out to be successful and they have oil. But
- 11:39Speaker 5: if we left a week ago, just left before the
- 11:44Speaker 5: last two attacks, it would have taken them twenty years
- 11:47Speaker 5: to rebuild a round. So but I'll go over the
- 11:51Speaker 5: document with the media in a couple of days. Now.
- 11:56Speaker 1: The president, they're saying, he'll go over it with the media.
- 11:59Speaker 1: He'll be trains parent, he's going to read it. But
- 12:01Speaker 1: he says that three hundred is not there.
- 12:04Speaker 3: I'm very comforted. I am glad the president is saying
- 12:08Speaker 3: that he is right to say that. It's why Look,
- 12:12Speaker 3: I am withholding judgment until I actually see the details.
- 12:15Speaker 3: The reporters are all like, oh, don't you want to
- 12:17Speaker 3: say something about this, And I'm like, look, until I
- 12:20Speaker 3: know what the agreement is, I'm not going to comment
- 12:23Speaker 3: without basis. We're saying the reporting. What I can say
- 12:27Speaker 3: without equivocation is that giving three hundred billion dollars to
- 12:31Speaker 3: Iran is a spectacularly bad idea. I hope and pray
- 12:35Speaker 3: that's not what this deal is. I'll be very happy
- 12:39Speaker 3: if when the deal the details become public it's not
- 12:43Speaker 3: giving three hundred billion dollars. But I have no hesitancy
- 12:46Speaker 3: that giving three hundred million dollars to Iran would be disastrous.
- 12:49Speaker 3: And to be clear, they would use that money to
- 12:51Speaker 3: build weapons to kill Americans as I and.
- 12:55Speaker 2: They would use that mighty give it to Hamas and hezblat.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Yeah, to fun terrorists that are murdering Americans, as I
- 13:03Speaker 3: observed to some of my colleagues in the Senate, I said, look,
- 13:06Speaker 3: giving three hundred billion dollars to theocratical lunatics who want
- 13:09Speaker 3: to murder us is not a good idea.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I hope that's a sound foreign policy. Center.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Let's just be clear, like that's that is a pretty
- 13:18Speaker 1: sound foreign policy I like we're headed.
- 13:20Speaker 3: And by the way, look, I talked to the President
- 13:23Speaker 3: just a few days ago, right before this deal was announced.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I am really hopeful. Look, one of the dynamics in
- 13:30Speaker 3: the Trump administration is there are different camps within the
- 13:33Speaker 3: administration that have different policy. There are camps in the
- 13:37Speaker 3: administration that oppose the Iranian military attack, that have wanted
- 13:44Speaker 3: to end it from day one, that have been deeply
- 13:46Speaker 3: unhappy with the President's decision to go in and take
- 13:50Speaker 3: out the Iranian military. I don't know the extent to
- 13:55Speaker 3: which those voices are prevailing right now, because there's an
- 13:59Speaker 3: active dispute playing out day by day in the administration.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I will say this though. There are also some Democrats
- 14:06Speaker 3: in some of the media are crowing, oh, this is
- 14:08Speaker 3: exactly like Obama and the JCPOA. It most certainly is
- 14:13Speaker 3: not that understand what Donald Trump has done. The decision
- 14:17Speaker 3: to launch the military attack against Iran was the single
- 14:20Speaker 3: most important decision of the Trump presidency. He has destroyed
- 14:25Speaker 3: over eighty percent of their ballistic missiles, over eighty percent
- 14:28Speaker 3: of their drones. He's destroyed their drone manufacturing capability, their
- 14:31Speaker 3: ballistic missiles manufacturing capability. He's utterly destroyed their air defenses.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Their air force is in rubble on the runways. Their
- 14:41Speaker 3: navy is sunk at the bottom of the ocean. You
- 14:43Speaker 3: know how many Iranian naval ships he has sunk?
- 14:46Speaker 2: How many?
- 14:47Speaker 3: One hundred and sixty one?
- 14:49Speaker 2: That's a lot.
- 14:50Speaker 3: It is the largest naval defeat since World War II. Wow,
- 14:54Speaker 3: the Iranian military has been destroyed. And by the way,
- 14:57Speaker 3: the Iatola is dead, many of the Mullahs are dead,
- 14:59Speaker 3: many of the senior leaders of the IRGC is dead.
- 15:02Speaker 3: So under any measure, they're democrats who are lunatically claiming
- 15:09Speaker 3: Iran is stronger today than it's ever been. No, No,
- 15:13Speaker 3: that they have been bombed backed in the stone Age.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Under no measure, they stronger than they've ever been. Now,
- 15:19Speaker 3: I don't want to see theocratic Islamists who want to
- 15:22Speaker 3: kill us made stronger. So if this deal is giving
- 15:26Speaker 3: them three hundred billion dollars, that's a mistake. I hope
- 15:30Speaker 3: that is not the case. But the sort of cute
- 15:35Speaker 3: talking point that this is just like Obama is absurd
- 15:40Speaker 3: and false. The Obama Iran nuclear deal was designed to
- 15:45Speaker 3: inevitably lead to Iran having a nuclear weapon. The President
- 15:48Speaker 3: has launched a massive military action designed to prevent Iran
- 15:53Speaker 3: from having a nuclear weapon. That is massively, massively different.
- 15:57Speaker 3: What I'm urging the president, when I'm saying to him
- 16:01Speaker 3: is it is don't give away the victory. I don't
- 16:04Speaker 3: believe he's doing so. I hope he's not doing so.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I hope his administration is not doing so. But my
- 16:09Speaker 3: message is, don't we have defeated their military. Don't suddenly
- 16:14Speaker 3: come in with massive buckets of cash to let them
- 16:18Speaker 3: rebuild and become a threat to America.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Again, a great point, final question, and this is something
- 16:23Speaker 1: that is going to be in the news, and that
- 16:25Speaker 1: was the vote in the Senate on war powers with
- 16:28Speaker 1: a Ran. It came down to one vote. Thank goodness,
- 16:31Speaker 1: John Fetterman voted with the Republicans as some Republicans defected.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Doing the math on this, it just shows you how
- 16:38Speaker 1: tight things are in the Senate. Were you surprised by
- 16:41Speaker 1: how closes was or was it what you were going
- 16:43Speaker 1: to expect? And Fetterman, by the way, what a blessing
- 16:46Speaker 1: that guy has become. I mean that is a compliment
- 16:49Speaker 1: to him where I know a lot of issues. He
- 16:51Speaker 1: does not play politics. He looks at his right and
- 16:53Speaker 1: wrong and is America better off? And I think that
- 16:56Speaker 1: was one of his votes today as a perfect example
- 16:58Speaker 1: of that.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Listen, John Fetterman has become a friend. I like John.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I work with him quite a bit. He's got real courage.
- 17:07Speaker 3: He is the lone Democrat who will stand up to
- 17:10Speaker 3: the crazies on a host of issues. He will stand
- 17:13Speaker 3: up Number one on Israel. He is not part of
- 17:16Speaker 3: the pro Hamas lunatic left, which is much of the
- 17:19Speaker 3: Democrat Party. Number two on border security, he has decided
- 17:26Speaker 3: that the policy of open borders and releasing murderers and
- 17:30Speaker 3: gang bangers and rapists and child molesters is a dumb policy.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Now that didn't used to be a radical position. That
- 17:37Speaker 3: used to be. In fact, you go back just a
- 17:39Speaker 3: few years ago, and whether it was Harry Reid or
- 17:41Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer, or Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton, every Democrat
- 17:45Speaker 3: espoused that position. Today, John Fetterman is almost the only
- 17:50Speaker 3: Democrat who will say that. I mean, it's not that
- 17:54Speaker 3: he has changed, it's that his party has gone nuts.
- 17:57Speaker 3: And I will tell you the Democrats they hate Fetterman
- 18:01Speaker 3: for it. They're vicious, they insult and revile him. I
- 18:06Speaker 3: consider John a friend, and listen, John still votes ninety
- 18:11Speaker 3: percent with the Democrats. So let's be clear. He is
- 18:13Speaker 3: not suddenly a conservative Republican. He just doesn't believe Hamas
- 18:17Speaker 3: is better than Israel and doesn't believe open borders and
- 18:19Speaker 3: criminals are better than American citizens. Those are pretty reasonable
- 18:25Speaker 3: statements that used to be mainstream and everyone agreed with,
- 18:28Speaker 3: and now virtually every other Democrat has abandoned that. Actually,
- 18:34Speaker 3: here's a question to ask our listeners. You had a
- 18:36Speaker 3: post on social media. Do y'all want John Fetterman to
- 18:39Speaker 3: be a guest on Verdict?
- 18:41Speaker 2: I loved here. It's funny that you just said that.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I was really going to say Center, I think we
- 18:44Speaker 1: just have Fetterman on, and I've never said it live
- 18:46Speaker 1: on the air, that we should have a guest before.
- 18:49Speaker 1: As before, you're not talking about behind the scenes. I
- 18:52Speaker 1: think you would be a fabulous guest for Verdict.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Look, look, John and I are buddies. I will say
- 18:58Speaker 3: you remember last year he decided he was going to
- 19:01Speaker 3: go down to mar A Lago and meet with Trump,
- 19:03Speaker 3: and the left lost their mind and said, oh my god,
- 19:05Speaker 3: why would you talk to the President. What kind of
- 19:07Speaker 3: lunatic are you? And John he's got a good sense
- 19:11Speaker 3: of humor, it's his very dry sense of humor. And
- 19:14Speaker 3: he came back and said, well, I'm gonna ask him
- 19:16Speaker 3: to make me the Pope of Greenland, which I thought
- 19:21Speaker 3: was really funny and I actually like used Ai I
- 19:24Speaker 3: found a meme and sent out a meme of Fetterman
- 19:28Speaker 3: as the pope in like papal robes in Greenland, and
- 19:32Speaker 3: like tweeted it out and I said it to John
- 19:34Speaker 3: and we were cracking up laughing about it because I
- 19:36Speaker 3: thought that was really funny. But look, he's shown real courage.
- 19:43Speaker 3: The fact that he is so alone in the Democrat
- 19:46Speaker 3: Party really illustrates how radicalized they become.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Well, the irandeo has sent shockwaves through the world economy.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Stocks are still surging, oil prices are still falling, and
- 19:58Speaker 1: the Trump team def defends the agreement as many on
- 20:02Speaker 1: the left and some on the right are angry.
- 20:05Speaker 2: That is the big story.
- 20:07Speaker 1: The economic reaction to President Trump's announcement is also exactly
- 20:11Speaker 1: what he said. It was going to end the war,
- 20:13Speaker 1: reopen the Straight of Horn Moves, and then prevent Iran
- 20:16Speaker 1: from obtaining a nuclear weapon and the financial markets they
- 20:20Speaker 1: believe the president.
- 20:21Speaker 2: For weeks, the biggest fear hanging.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Over the global economy was what was going to happen
- 20:26Speaker 1: with the Straight of hor Moves and would it remain
- 20:28Speaker 1: blocked or would there be tolls, or would Iran continue
- 20:32Speaker 1: to do terrorist activities on ships going through the Strait.
- 20:35Speaker 1: When President Trump has announced the agreement and said the
- 20:38Speaker 1: Straight will reopen, and the oil markets, for the second
- 20:41Speaker 1: day in a row, reversed what they were doing drastically.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Crude prices have plummeted from the crisis highs seen during
- 20:49Speaker 1: the conflict, falling as traders began pricing in the return
- 20:53Speaker 1: of stability and the removal of the worst case scenario
- 20:56Speaker 1: of a major Middle East supply disruption. Brent crew, which
- 21:00Speaker 1: had served as high as roughly one hundred and eighteen
- 21:03Speaker 1: dollars per barrel during the crisis, dropped significantly below eighty
- 21:09Speaker 1: dollars a barrel. Now that matters for every American, and
- 21:13Speaker 1: that's what the President promised. Lower crued prices would flow
- 21:16Speaker 1: through to lower gasoline prices and then the lower transportation
- 21:20Speaker 1: costs and the broader inflation pressures. We talked about this yesterday,
- 21:24Speaker 1: but the stock market doubled down and celebrated the news.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Wall Street said, we believe this is real, and investors
- 21:32Speaker 1: moved into stocks as fears of a prolonged Middle East
- 21:35Speaker 1: war have faded quickly. Now, the biggest winners were sectors
- 21:39Speaker 1: that benefited from lower energy costs and improved global stability.
- 21:44Speaker 1: The market reaction was simple, the less chance of a
- 21:46Speaker 1: wider war, the lower the risk to the global economy.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Markets rallied on the belief that shipping lanes would remain open,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and then a major economic shock had been avoided. President
- 21:58Speaker 1: Trump said great thing are going to happen. In his
- 22:01Speaker 1: new messaging, he's celebrated the agreement, saying this deal will
- 22:05Speaker 1: not only ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon,
- 22:08Speaker 1: but it also is allowing the Middle East to move
- 22:10Speaker 1: forward with stability. Trump also towed the reopening the Strait
- 22:14Speaker 1: of hor moves and predicted that a lot of great
- 22:17Speaker 1: things would happen as the tensions ease and the global
- 22:20Speaker 1: markets normalize. Now, the White House argument is very straightforward.
- 22:26Speaker 1: The military pressure brought a rand to the negotiating table,
- 22:29Speaker 1: and diplomacy secured an agreement that could avoid a larger
- 22:32Speaker 1: regional war. Jesse Waters on Fox News Channel explained it
- 22:37Speaker 1: this way.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Bill, It's the exact opposite of the Ran deal, where
- 22:40Speaker 6: proxies and missiles are covered because if they fund the
- 22:45Speaker 6: proxies then they don't get the economic benefits. And the
- 22:48Speaker 6: missiles are covered because eighty five percent of them have
- 22:51Speaker 6: been destroyed and ninety percent of the industrial base has
- 22:54Speaker 6: been destroyed, so they've been disarmed. They can't re arm
- 22:56Speaker 6: because they can't manufacture more weapons. And now they can't
- 23:00Speaker 6: really project power outside of their borders because they have
- 23:03Speaker 6: no air force and they have no navy, and they
- 23:05Speaker 6: don't pose an imminent threat to the United States anymore,
- 23:08Speaker 6: and they have no air defense, so we have full
- 23:10Speaker 6: air superiority. Also, the difference between the Obama Deal is
- 23:14Speaker 6: they cannot build.
- 23:15Speaker 2: A nuclear weapon.
- 23:16Speaker 6: They can enrich at all, and they can't stockpile because
- 23:21Speaker 6: they can't access the uranium. The dust is so deep
- 23:25Speaker 6: down there. The only people that can get it is us.
- 23:29Speaker 6: And if we even just let it sit there in
- 23:32Speaker 6: a uranium grave for eternity, it's already destroyed their nuclear program.
- 23:39Speaker 6: All the centrifuges are shadowed, their nuclear scientists are all dead.
- 23:43Speaker 6: So if we do nothing, it's already accomplished. The president's
- 23:47Speaker 6: main objective, which is prevent them from ever getting a
- 23:50Speaker 6: nuclear weapon. Everything he laid out the day after the
- 23:53Speaker 6: bombing started has been achieved.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Jesse went on to say, quote, this does what the
- 23:58Speaker 1: Obama Deal did do, and he's exactly right now there's
- 24:02Speaker 1: many that are angry right now about this deal, saying
- 24:06Speaker 1: it doesn't go far enough that we have leverage and
- 24:08Speaker 1: we're not doing enough with that leverage. And there's two
- 24:11Speaker 1: ways to look at this. So let's be clear. You
- 24:14Speaker 1: could continue to fight with I RAN. You could have
- 24:16Speaker 1: continue high gas prices. You then get us dangerously close
- 24:20Speaker 1: to the midterm elections, and then you could actually have
- 24:23Speaker 1: Republicans lose the House and the Senate over this war
- 24:26Speaker 1: with a RAN.
- 24:27Speaker 2: That was a real possibility.
- 24:29Speaker 1: Or you could find an exit ramp that has real
- 24:32Speaker 1: accountability in it. Now to be clear, that exit ramp
- 24:36Speaker 1: means this, you get gas prices lower. You have done
- 24:40Speaker 1: with the present promised the American people, and that was
- 24:42Speaker 1: make sure that we do not have a nuclear Iran,
- 24:45Speaker 1: and then you go back to doing the business the
- 24:48Speaker 1: American people care about here domestically. That is what you
- 24:53Speaker 1: do before the midterms. Now, we also have to know this.
- 24:57Speaker 1: It's very clear that President Trump will bomber RAN again
- 25:00Speaker 1: if he needs to. Now, what was also interesting was
- 25:03Speaker 1: what was happening on Capitol Hill as the Senate shot
- 25:06Speaker 1: down a resolution to limit President Trump's military authority over Iran.
- 25:12Speaker 1: It happened, and it was a very close vote. In fact,
- 25:15Speaker 1: by a single vote. The Senate shot down a proposal
- 25:18Speaker 1: on Tuesday that would have rained in the present's ability
- 25:21Speaker 1: to use military force against Iran without congressional approval. The
- 25:26Speaker 1: vote fell just one vote short, advancing forty eight to
- 25:29Speaker 1: forty seven. Republican Senator Susan Collins, Bill Cassidy, Lisa Murkowski,
- 25:36Speaker 1: and Ran Paul voted with the Democrats on the flip side.
- 25:40Speaker 1: The savior was Senator John Fetterman, the Democrat from Pennsylvania.
- 25:44Speaker 1: He crossed the out to vote alongside the Republican majority
- 25:47Speaker 1: against the bill. Now, the bill was obviously political from
- 25:51Speaker 1: the beginning. It was introduced by Senator Rafael Warnock, you know,
- 25:55Speaker 1: the hardcore lefty Democrat from Georgia, and the resolution sought
- 25:59Speaker 1: to require congressional approval for continued US military action involving Iran.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Warnock had urged Republicans to vote for it, arguing that
- 26:08Speaker 1: Congress shouldn't just sit back and let the president make
- 26:11Speaker 1: all the decisions on foreign wars. The vote occurred as
- 26:15Speaker 1: lawmakers press the White House for key details about the
- 26:18Speaker 1: agreement that Trump announced Sunday between Washington and Tehran and
- 26:23Speaker 1: that he had promised as a path towards ending months
- 26:26Speaker 1: of fighting. Quote, the deal with the Islamic Republic of
- 26:30Speaker 1: Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all, Trump declared on
- 26:34Speaker 1: true Social Members of Congress are still completely in the
- 26:37Speaker 1: dark about the agreement, leading to a push on the
- 26:41Speaker 1: Administration for transparency. The Senate Majority Leader John Thune said
- 26:45Speaker 1: lawmakers are demanding more details of how the arrangement actually works.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Under the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of twenty fifteen,
- 26:54Speaker 1: agreements related to Iran's nuclear program must be submitted to
- 26:58Speaker 1: Congress for review before sanctioned relief can actually take effect. Now,
- 27:03Speaker 1: although the measure did not advance, the Senate Minority leader,
- 27:07Speaker 1: the Democrat Chuck Schumer of New York, said Democrats are
- 27:10Speaker 1: continuing their discussion surrounding a separate proposal that's actually been
- 27:15Speaker 1: sponsored by Senate Democrat Tim Kane, and they're attempting to secure,
- 27:19Speaker 1: they say, additional Republican support before bringing it up again.
- 27:24Speaker 1: This also may be playing into why this agreement's being
- 27:27Speaker 1: done right now. We also know the House recently improved
- 27:31Speaker 1: its own legislation seeking to halt unauthorized military operations against Iran.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Now that measure has yet to receive consideration the Senate,
- 27:40Speaker 1: but administration officials they maintained that key portions of the
- 27:44Speaker 1: War Powers Resolution are unconstitutional, and they're also contending that
- 27:49Speaker 1: an April cease fire altered the timeline governing congressional authorization requirements.
- 27:56Speaker 1: So at the end of the day, here's where we are.
- 27:58Speaker 1: We have a present that under stands a deal needed
- 28:01Speaker 1: to be done. We have a present that made sure
- 28:04Speaker 1: in that deal that Iran would not get nuclear weapons.
- 28:08Speaker 1: We have a president that understood that gas prices in
- 28:11Speaker 1: the economy and inflation are incredibly important issues heading into
- 28:15Speaker 1: the midterms, and he understands that he can also hold
- 28:18Speaker 1: a Ran accountable in the near future if he needs
- 28:21Speaker 1: to as well.
- 28:22Speaker 2: So that is where we are.
- 28:24Speaker 1: One other thing you might want to put in consideration
- 28:27Speaker 1: about this deal is this, You know it's not that
- 28:30Speaker 1: bad when you have Mike Pence coming out saying the
- 28:33Speaker 1: President should have gone back to his first instincts saying
- 28:37Speaker 1: the president's doing the wrong thing. If people like Mike
- 28:40Speaker 1: Pince are criticizing you, well, then the deal is probably
- 28:43Speaker 1: not half bad at all.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Thanks as always for joining us on the show. Don't forget.
- 28:48Speaker 1: You can grab the Ben Ferguson podcasts wherever you get
- 28:51Speaker 1: your podcasts, and I'll see you back here on this
