Latest / The Lila Rose Show / E101: Birth Control Critics Censored, TikTok, Christ is King + Q&A
Transcript
- 0:00So the Washington Post put out this piece.
- 0:02The headline is Women are Getting Off Birth Control amid
- 0:04Misinformation Explosion, as if Women Only will Get Off of Birth
- 0:08Control because they've been lied to.
- 0:09Brett. Cooper argued in a viral TikTok
- 0:12clip that birth control can impact fertility and cause women
- 0:15to gain weight, and it racked up over 200,000 likes before Tik.
- 0:20T.O.K removed it following the posts inquiry.
- 0:24Wow, there you have it. And the reality is there are
- 0:26thousands of physicians who also are concerned about birth
- 0:29control shows harm to women. And there's increasingly more
- 0:32physicians who are trying to avoid prescribing birth control
- 0:35and actually searching out the underlying problems that their
- 0:38patient may be facing. Hello, guys.
- 0:45Hello. Hello.
- 0:46Welcome to the Lila Rose Podcast.
- 0:47We're doing the YouTube Live Today and we've already got some
- 0:50people on here. Hey, Anthony.
- 0:53Hey, Bella. Thanks.
- 0:54Hey, hi. We've got AJ on.
- 0:57Hey, AJ Thanks guys for joining. We've got a lot to unpack today
- 1:01and this is also Holy Week. So there's a lot of thoughts I
- 1:05have about that as we prepare for Easter and the resurrection
- 1:08of Christ. We also have some hit pieces
- 1:11from the Washington Post and TikTok attacking content
- 1:16creators who are criticizing birth control.
- 1:18So we're going to talk about that.
- 1:20Also, if you have any questions during the chat, feel free to or
- 1:23during the conversation, feel free to put it in the chat box.
- 1:25I'm taking questions and I will be paying attention to the chat
- 1:28this time. So put your questions in there
- 1:31because I love to hear from you guys directly.
- 1:33We also have a bunch of questions coming in through
- 1:35different social media platforms, so we'll look at
- 1:36those questions too. But if you're here on YouTube
- 1:39and you're here watching this live and you've got any
- 1:41questions or comments, put them in the chat.
- 1:43I love to see them. OK.
- 1:45I hope everyone's doing well. I Can you believe that it is
- 1:48Holy Week? Lent is almost over and chaos is
- 1:51happening as usual in the political and cultural world.
- 1:54Lots to break down there. I'm going to start with the
- 1:58Washington Post hit piece that came out just a few days ago
- 2:02about birth control. A lot to talk about there.
- 2:05We talked about this a lot on the show.
- 2:07Women's fertility, birth control, abortion.
- 2:10There's so much to unpack. And TikTok is literally banning
- 2:15videos that criticize birth control.
- 2:18So if you have concerns about birth control's harms to women,
- 2:22birth control is an abortifacient.
- 2:24You might get in the crossfire of TikTok and they will
- 2:27literally ban your video. This is crazy because there's
- 2:30all kinds of insane stuff on TikTok sexual material.
- 2:34There's all kinds of political opinions, you know, far left
- 2:37opinions, There's gender ideology stuff.
- 2:40But if you're critical of birth control, you could get banned.
- 2:43I have been banned on TikTok. I think I've mentioned this
- 2:46before in the show. I had an account a few years ago
- 2:48that was completely banned simply for having pro-life
- 2:51content up. We actually just started a new
- 2:53TikTok to try again. So I'll actually try to link
- 2:56that in the bio if you guys do want to follow there.
- 2:57But it is clear that TikTok has an agenda.
- 3:00I don't think that anyone can deny that at this point.
- 3:03And it's run by the Chinese Communist Party.
- 3:05People know that too. It's owned by China ultimately,
- 3:08which is opposed to a lot of the values that we have on this show
- 3:12and values of not just free speech, but values of family and
- 3:15of life. So hey guys.
- 3:18Hey, Lisa, thanks for coming joining the chat.
- 3:21Hey, Peter, thanks for joining. Awesome.
- 3:24Peter saying I just became a Live action ambassador this
- 3:26year. Yay, that is awesome.
- 3:28By the way, if anybody listening was at Live Action's inaugural
- 3:32Young Leaders Summit last weekend, let me know and let me
- 3:36know what you think. So we had over 700 people here
- 3:40in Southern California. We had this first event for our
- 3:43Youth Leaders Summit and we it was a huge success.
- 3:46It was so fun to meet so many of you guys and we had amazing
- 3:50speakers and it was all talking about life, sex, relationships
- 3:53and leadership and how to lead in our cultural environment.
- 3:57So just amazing people came and I got to meet a bunch of you, so
- 4:00if you were there, let me know and we're going to be doing it
- 4:02again, bigger and better next year as well as other events.
- 4:05So stay tuned for that. Peter says Live Action was a
- 4:09driving force behind me becoming pro-life.
- 4:11I'm so happy to hear that. That is awesome.
- 4:13That is our job to educate and inspire.
- 4:15So thank you for sharing that. Hello, Dan, top of the
- 4:18afternoon. All right.
- 4:20Hello, Georges. I hope I'm saying your name
- 4:23right. KMH has a question.
- 4:26We're going to do questions here in a minute.
- 4:27So if you've got questions, please drop them in the chat.
- 4:30I will be checking the chat throughout this live stream.
- 4:34All right, guys, let's start with we're going to start with
- 4:37Washington Post. Then we're going to talk about
- 4:39Christ being king. If you are on Twitter, you
- 4:43probably saw yesterday that Christ is king trended.
- 4:46Now I think that's a beautiful thing because Christ is king.
- 4:49But we're going to unpack some of the really politics around
- 4:52the statement. Unfortunately, it's become
- 4:54politicized. And I'm just going to share my
- 4:56thoughts about what it means that Christ is king and how weak
- 5:00as Christians can authentically live that out.
- 5:02I'm on a journey to try to live out my faith, as you guys know,
- 5:06imperfectly. And by God's power, all of us
- 5:09can do this together. And we can, I hope, help other
- 5:12people do it with us as well. So before we go into the
- 5:16Washington Post criticizing those who dare to criticize
- 5:21birth control, going to thank our sponsors for this episode.
- 5:23Two of them to start seven weeks coffee.
- 5:26You guys hear me talk about this a lot on the podcast.
- 5:29Have you guys had seven weeks coffee yet?
- 5:31If you haven't, what are you waiting for?
- 5:33I just had my seven weeks coffee this morning.
- 5:35This is gourmet, low, small batch, low acid, ethically
- 5:41sourced coffee. They have these amazing blends.
- 5:44I got the Burundi blend recently, which I loved.
- 5:46I don't know if it's sold out. You can check that Seven weeks
- 5:49coffee.com. What I love about this company,
- 5:51the leadership is really wonderful.
- 5:53They're great people, so they're not just getting you the best in
- 5:55class coffee delivered to your door, but they're very pro-life
- 5:58and they give 10% of everything that they make, not just their
- 6:02profits, just complete revenue period. 10% goes directly to
- 6:06pregnancy resource centers to help moms and babies in need.
- 6:10So that means if you buy seven weeks coffee, 10% of what you
- 6:13spent goes directly to pregnancy centers.
- 6:16And I think they've given away, I think it's over $300,000 now
- 6:20and they've supported 700 different pregnancy centers.
- 6:23So it's kind of an amazing business to do that.
- 6:26So check them out seven weeks coffee.com and you can use the
- 6:29code Lila at checkout for 10% off your order.
- 6:31So what are you waiting for? And then similarly Neemi Skin

- 6:37another company run by amazing people like minded people.
- 6:41I love all these businesses, starting by the way that are
- 6:43offering amazing products of but they're designed to share our
- 6:48values and actually support causes that we care about
- 6:51because we know that the pro worship side, the left is doing
- 6:54this constantly and neemiskincare.com is a healthy
- 6:59skin care company. They've got great products,
- 7:01they're very clean products. I do use these products every
- 7:04morning and night. I'm very picky about my skin
- 7:06care. I've tried a lot of different
- 7:07products and I love Neemi. The products just work, they're
- 7:10simple, they're simple lines, they work for different kinds of
- 7:12skin. And again, Neemi skin care
- 7:15supports your values and is in line with the pro-life movement.
- 7:17So check out neemiskincare.com too if you haven't already.
- 7:22Try try them. It's a great time for it.

- 7:30Or if you're married to a new mom, treat her.
- 7:33That's nimi skincare.com and you can use Lila at checkout for 15%
- 7:37off your order. I love all these companies.
- 7:39It's so awesome that there are all of these pro-life aligned
- 7:44companies that are starting and have started and are growing
- 7:48rapidly. I mean they're they're
- 7:50succeeding because they're great products, excellent customer
- 7:53service, these are great companies, but they share our
- 7:56values. So all the more reason we should
- 7:57ditch brands that oppose our values and support those that
- 8:01do. All right, let's pull up the
- 8:03Washington Post article. What does the Washington Post
- 8:06have to say today? All right, let's pull this up.
- 8:11We're going. To start with the Instagram post
- 8:13from the Washington Post. So I just want to share, I go
- 8:17way back with the Washington Post.
- 8:19I remember being probably 19 years old and sitting in their
- 8:22headquarters in Washington DC talking to their reporters about
- 8:25my investigative reporting of Planned Parenthood and trying to
- 8:28explain what we found and why they should report on it.
- 8:31And I remember talking to one of the lead healthcare reporters
- 8:36and explaining to her that Planned Parenthood, I think it
- 8:38was our investigation where Planned Parenthood was doing sex
- 8:41selective abortion. So they were.
- 8:43Actually kill the baby girl just because she was a girl at the.
- 8:46Request of the mother. So we were.
- 8:48Documenting this and Planned Parenthood's willingness to
- 8:51commit sex selection abortion. I mean how anti feminist right
- 8:54kill the baby just because she's a girl?
- 8:56Because this parent wants a boy and Planned Parenthood will do
- 8:59that. And it was like a later term
- 9:00abortion too. It was in the second trimester
- 9:02and the healthcare reporter. At The Washington Post.
- 9:05Office just looked at me and was saying, this can't be right,
- 9:09this can't be true. I was like, I have the tapes.
- 9:11You want to see the tapes? I have the tapes.
- 9:13It was so much a shaking of her worldview, her worldview as the
- 9:19healthcare correspondent at the Washington Post.
- 9:21That Planned Parenthood was word of God for Women's Health, this
- 9:24great organization, that they would ever do anything that
- 9:27chipped away at her invincible support of them, that she was
- 9:32literally telling me to my face that's impossible that you found
- 9:34this. You know, it's impossible that
- 9:36your your report shows this. When I have it on tape, the
- 9:39Planned Parenthood worker saying I hope you get your boy.
- 9:43And navigating and arranging a sex selective abortion.
- 9:47So that's some of my history with Washington Post.
- 9:50So let's just say I'm not surprised that this reporting
- 9:53has happened recently from the Post.
- 9:56OK, here's their Instagram. You guys can see.
- 9:58Let's pull this open. All right.
- 10:02So you can see here it says we can Scroll down.
- 10:05The women are getting off birth control as misinformation
- 10:08explodes. So it's obviously presenting
- 10:10this as this horrible thing that a woman would not be on birth
- 10:12control. You know, the the role of a
- 10:14woman is not in the kitchen. The role of a woman is on birth
- 10:16control. I mean, you better be on birth
- 10:18control women. That is your role.
- 10:21And it says search for birth control and TikTok or Instagram
- 10:24and a cascade of misleading videos vilifying hormonal
- 10:27contraception will appear. Young women blame weight gain
- 10:30and depression on the pill. Right wing commentators claim
- 10:33that birth control can lead to infertility.
- 10:36And then they read the description here and it says
- 10:38scroll up a little bit. It says physicians say they're
- 10:40seeing an explosion of birth control misinformation online.
- 10:43All right, already you see the bias screaming you in the
- 10:47staring you in the face because they're positioning physicians
- 10:51like at. Large.
- 10:52Physicians period, are concerned about the misleading in
- 10:56misinformation on birth control when the reality is there are
- 11:00thousands of physicians who also are concerned about birth
- 11:04control's harm to women. And there's increasingly more
- 11:06physicians who are trying to avoid prescribing birth control
- 11:10and actually searching out the underlying problems that their
- 11:13patient may be facing. Whether it's cystic acne or it's
- 11:17endometriosis or other, you know, heavy periods to try to
- 11:20treat the underlying conditions that a woman's facing instead of
- 11:22just prescribing at Willy nilly, which is how it's done birth
- 11:26control. So already they're being
- 11:28deceptive and misleading in the framing of their story.
- 11:32Surprise, surprise. All right, let's go to the
- 11:34article from Washington Post. Yours truly is quoted in this
- 11:38article, so we're going to go to that as well.
- 11:40So the Washington Post put out this piece.
- 11:43It's called. Scroll to the top.
- 11:45Here, the headline is Women are getting off birth control amid
- 11:48misinformation explosion. Again, as if women only will get
- 11:53off of birth control because they've been lied to as opposed
- 11:55to. Maybe they're on birth control.
- 11:57Maybe, just maybe, women are on birth control because they've
- 12:00been lied to, ever thought of that.
- 12:03That actually is the case for most women.
- 12:04And they get basic facts about birth control that they didn't
- 12:07have before, about its risks or harms.
- 12:10And they say, I don't want to do this anymore.
- 12:11I'm getting off of it. So that's what's happening with
- 12:14a lot of women today, especially younger women who are more
- 12:16educated on this, you know, our parents generation.
- 12:18Keep in mind the history here. The pill entered the scene and
- 12:21was highly spread by use, you know, recommended by physicians,
- 12:25etcetera. We're talking in the 60s,
- 12:27largely later on, seventies, 80s now up till today.
- 12:31It became this kind of panacea, this sort of, yes, every woman
- 12:34should go on it, why not? And young girls increasingly
- 12:37have been prescribed it. And at the time, the pill as a
- 12:41technology was pretty new. It had been developed in the
- 12:43first part of the 20th century. And so people didn't really
- 12:46think about the harms or the risks.
- 12:47They just thought, hey, this is a great way to manage fertility.
- 12:50And if I'm not ready for a baby right now, I'm just going to
- 12:52take the pill. Unfortunately, there was a lot
- 12:56more, there were a lot more harms than people had any idea
- 12:59about. And those have become
- 13:00increasingly made known. They're surfacing and women are
- 13:05becoming aware of that, including their physicians, many
- 13:07physicians. And so there is a drop off now
- 13:10in the use of contraception because of the facts that have
- 13:14emerged. And so it's this, it's this
- 13:16funny kind of intergenerational conflict happening to where the
- 13:20older generation who just accepted birth control as a gift
- 13:23from God now are realizing the younger generation is not doing
- 13:27that because they realize it's harms and also some of the
- 13:30ethical issues. And there's sort of this gap of
- 13:34how could you, how dare you. We we took the drug, why not
- 13:36you? All right.
- 13:38Let's look at the article here. So it has a lot of folks that
- 13:42are quoted, myself included as I said.
- 13:45But I want to just point out a few things about this article.
- 13:48So first of all, it's has this line.
- 13:51Physicians and researchers say little data is available about
- 13:54the scale of this phenomenon, but anecdotally, anecdotally,
- 13:59more patients are coming in with misconceptions about birth
- 14:02control fuelled by influencers and conservative commentators so
- 14:06automatically. Again, like I said earlier, it
- 14:08is positioning all the physicians and all the
- 14:10researchers as being pro birth control and all the people that
- 14:15are concerned about birth controls being this these
- 14:17Internet personalities and right wing people, which nothing could
- 14:21be further from the truth. Some of the most consequential
- 14:23reporting that's been done on the birth control pill being
- 14:27harmful has been from left wing mags, magazines and in outlets.
- 14:31And I'm going to get to that and has been from feminists and
- 14:34those on the left who are willing to say, hey, this is an
- 14:37issue, this is causing problems and has been from studies by the
- 14:40CDC and the NIH. So to say that this is just some
- 14:43phenomenon on the right is completely untrue.
- 14:45So you just see again lie after lie.
- 14:48Coming from the Washington Post, let's go back to the article
- 14:51here and look at some of the quotes that they have.
- 14:54So if you Scroll down, we've got a little informational video.
- 14:58But they talk about how influencers are seeking fame and
- 15:02fortune by decrying the birth control pill.
- 15:06So they just went from lying about who's criticizing it to
- 15:10now lying about the motivations of who's criticizing it and
- 15:12claiming that anybody who criticizes the birth control
- 15:14pill are are wanting fame and fortune.
- 15:18I don't know how much fame and fortune has been earned.
- 15:21If anything, they've been shunned people who've been
- 15:23willing, brave enough to speak out against the pharmaceutical
- 15:26medical industrial complex that is pushing this on women.
- 15:29But again, just it's just, it's just funny.
- 15:31It's ironic, the way this article is written.
- 15:33It's kind of a parody piece of itself, you could say.
- 15:37All right, so moving on. It says, you know, brings up an
- 15:41influencer who talked about how she got off of birth control and
- 15:46how her health improved. OK, sounds like a common
- 15:49experience for a lot of women. But according to the according
- 15:53to the Washington Post, this woman's crazy, and she doesn't
- 15:56know what she's talking about and that she just wants fame and
- 16:00fortune. OK, no evidence to support your
- 16:02claim, Washington Post. The fact is, if you actually
- 16:06read even the insert on birth control pills and you actually
- 16:09talk to anybody who's honest, they can say yes, weight gain.
- 16:13Weight gain can absolutely be a side effect of taking hormonal
- 16:18birth control. That's like a fact.
- 16:20Even whether you're left or right, pro birth control, anti
- 16:22birth control, it's a fact. So for this TikTok girl to talk
- 16:26about how I actually lost weight that I had gained after going
- 16:30off birth control and now my cycle is becoming regular again.
- 16:33And then to say that she was once fame and fortunate, She's
- 16:36spreading misinformation. It makes no sense.
- 16:39It just makes no sense here. All right, let's keep going.
- 16:45It's talking again. Bashing this girl on Tiktok.
- 16:50They they they pick a number of different women to bash who
- 16:53dared to speak out individually against birth control.
- 16:56Just sharing their stories, by the way.
- 16:57Just sharing about how they went off of it.
- 16:59Social media companies struggle to combat misinformation and
- 17:03balance free speech protections. The The Post reports Meta, the
- 17:07parent company of Facebook and Instagram, says it works hard to
- 17:09protect online communities. Yes, protect online communities
- 17:13from these pesky women who dare to share that how they went off
- 17:18birth control and now they're feeling better for it.
- 17:20Protect the community from these.
- 17:23Horrible women who dare to share their personal stories.
- 17:26Got it. Washington Post understood here.
- 17:29And then it goes on to say TikTok recently removed at least
- 17:33five videos linking birth control to mental health issues
- 17:37and other health problems. Again, this is there is research
- 17:40from the CDC and the NIH that shows that birth control can
- 17:44lead to anxiety, depression, it can lead to mood disorders that
- 17:48you're you're you're deregulating your cycle.
- 17:50Ultimately you're suppressing your cycle and it can lead to
- 17:54mental health issues like that is not something that and and
- 17:57mental health mood disorders, that's not something that is
- 18:01not. There hasn't been multiple
- 18:03studies and there's metadata showing the correlation between
- 18:06birth control use and mood disorders or mood disturbance.
- 18:10So again, major gaslighting from the post here.
- 18:13But this gets even worse. Here it gets even worse because
- 18:16it says TikTok recently removed at least five videos linking,
- 18:21Just linking. Just daring to say, yeah, I was
- 18:23on birth control. I felt really depressed.
- 18:24Got off of it, Not depressed anymore.
- 18:27Yeah, I was in birth control. Felt anxious, Got off birth
- 18:29control, Not anxious anymore. How dare you?
- 18:33TikTok says. How dare you?
- 18:35And So what did TikTok do? They literally deleted the
- 18:38videos. They literally deleted content
- 18:41on the platform because women dared to share their experience
- 18:44about how birth control was harmful to them.
- 18:47It also talks about the YouTube who's fantastically talented?
- 18:52Brett Cooper. Let's find the part where it
- 18:54dresses her Specifically, here we go Brett Cooper, a media
- 18:56commentator for the conservative Daily Wire.
- 18:59I love how they throw that in there.
- 19:01Are you the Liberal? Washington Post.
- 19:03Or do you call yourselves the liberal Washington Post, 'cause
- 19:05if you're going to call the Daily Wire, the Conservative
- 19:07Daily Wire, you better call yourselves the liberal
- 19:09Washington Post. But of course.
- 19:11They're not going to do that because, no, we're the
- 19:13Washington Post and we are endlessly fair and balanced and
- 19:17impartial. And it is obvious from our It's
- 19:20obvious from our reporting, Right.
- 19:22OK, What do they have to say about Brett Cooper?
- 19:24I love Brett Cooper. She's, she's a a lovely, lovely
- 19:27voice online doing great things, she says.
- 19:29Cooper and political commentator Candace Owens denounced birth
- 19:33control pills and IU DS as unnatural, and it goes on to say
- 19:37that or scroll up a bit here. It goes on to say that Brett
- 19:39Cooper argued in a viral TikTok clip that birth control can
- 19:44impact fertility and cause women to gain weight.
- 19:47And it racked. Up over 200,000 likes before
- 19:51TikTok removed. It following the Post's inquiry.
- 19:57Wow, there, there you have it. Washington Post basically
- 20:01admitting we Tattle taled to our friends at TikTok Corporate.
- 20:06Our friends in the Chinese Communist Party, whatever our
- 20:09TikTok corporate, that there was some pesky woman, a commentator
- 20:14on TikTok with a persuasive voice daring to share that birth
- 20:18control has been linked to infertility.
- 20:20It has. Daring to say that it may lead
- 20:22to weight gain. It it can.
- 20:24And because of it, TikTok took action and deleted the video.
- 20:29My goodness, how crazy, how crazy.
- 20:32And here we go, Washington Post basically bragging about it.
- 20:35All right. We could keep going.
- 20:36I'm going to get down to my quote here because they do quote
- 20:38yours truly, as I said. And I want to talk about the
- 20:42context of the quote that they did of me.
- 20:44So if you go down here, this is get this gets interesting, guys.
- 20:47This, get this, this will be a little peek.
- 20:49This is like a case study. What I'm about to share with you
- 20:52about how especially I'm going to call it pro abortion, anti
- 20:57values media, you know, legacy media, how they spin, how they
- 21:02do their spin room. And this is really a really
- 21:05great case study because I'm very personally involved in
- 21:08every step of it. They emailed me for comment, I
- 21:10sent them comment, this is the comment they included.
- 21:13This is the article In the context within which they
- 21:15included it, it really shows how biased, how biased they are, but
- 21:19also how to construct a propaganda piece.
- 21:21I mean that's what they've done here.
- 21:23This is, this is propaganda, this is pro birth control, anti
- 21:27woman propaganda. So they have in here Stevenson,
- 21:32who's their expert. That's the other thing.
- 21:34It's all about who they quote. Always pay attention when you
- 21:37are reading a news article. If you still bother to read them
- 21:39from groups like the Washington Post, they're so biased I don't
- 21:42know the value in reading them. But always look, always look,
- 21:47excuse me, always look when you are reading an article, what
- 21:52experts they choose to quote who they choose.
- 21:55To honor as the. Authority voice in the piece
- 21:58that will tell you a lot about the bias or lack of bias of the
- 22:03reporter. Are they going to include the
- 22:05numerous experts, institutions, medical journals that have
- 22:10reported on birth control's harms in this article?
- 22:14Or are they going to quote people like this guy Stevenson?
- 22:16They're about to, who is an avid supporter of birth control?
- 22:21And of course, their Washington Post chooses the latter.
- 22:23So it talks about this guy named Stevenson, the first name.
- 22:26Let's scroll up here. It's a Who is Stevenson Further
- 22:35up? This is like their 111 of their
- 22:37one big experts here in the piece.
- 22:40And again, no experts that in any way criticize birth control.
- 22:47They're all supportive of it. It's Amanda Stevenson, who's a
- 22:50sociologist, demographer and assistant professor who's
- 22:53studying the trend of those that are trying to restrict birth
- 22:57control. So she's very pro birth control,
- 22:59but she's also the the expert on knowing why and who is pro birth
- 23:03control. OK, So what did she say?
- 23:05Let's Scroll down. She talks about yours truly, she
- 23:07says. Stevenson pointed to
- 23:09pronouncements by Lila Rose. I am pronouncing, I'm sorry,
- 23:15it's just funny. I am pronouncing the truth about
- 23:18birth control. Actually, what I did, we're
- 23:20going to get to this in a minute, is I sent a very lengthy
- 23:23e-mail to the Washington Post with all of this data in it that
- 23:26were not my pronouncements but were links that they could read
- 23:28if they were journalistic enough about the harms of birth
- 23:33control. But no, these are my these are
- 23:35my pronouncements. Because to the Washington Post,
- 23:38I have always been and I will always be a crazy zealot.
- 23:41And that's, that's what they have to that's how they have to
- 23:44position me and all my friends who are in this article who dare
- 23:48to criticize birth control because it's it's their agenda,
- 23:52all right? Lila Rose, anti abortion
- 23:54activist. Hundreds of thousands of
- 23:56followers in social media has urged women to get off birth
- 23:59control in what Stephen called an effort to stigmatize it.
- 24:03We're trying to shame women here of course, according to the
- 24:06Washington Post expert. All right so this is the quote
- 24:09they quoted me to be anti fertility is to be anti woman.
- 24:14And the proliferation of hormonal birth control isn't
- 24:16just another way of trying to force women to be more like men
- 24:20with significant consequences for our emotional and physical
- 24:23health. Basically, the use of birth
- 24:25control today is panacea to say that we're not going to
- 24:28understand the underlying conditions of a disorder you may
- 24:31have as a woman. Your body is different than a
- 24:33man's body. Your your issues will be
- 24:34different than a man's issues typically, not always.
- 24:37But if they're connected to your reproductive system.
- 24:39And so we want you to just deal with you the way we deal with a
- 24:42man in healthcare. So we want to shut down and
- 24:44suppress your fertility systems. We're not going to look at the
- 24:46underlying conditions of what you're dealing with.
- 24:48And when it comes to fertility, you know a woman, a man is
- 24:52fertile 100% of the time, typically a healthy man, right?
- 24:56Women are fertile few days a month.
- 24:59But look at how healthcare treats fertility and management
- 25:01of fertility. There's no birth control pills
- 25:04for men. Surprise, surprise, the woman is
- 25:07the one who's shutting down ovulation.
- 25:10Why? In order to that's the way to
- 25:12deal with your fertility as opposed to fertility awareness
- 25:15and management. To know that this is when I'm
- 25:17pregnant. If I'm not ready to have a child
- 25:19right now and I'm not, I need to space A child.
- 25:21Whatever the reason is, we can delay.
- 25:24I can delay intercourse. I can delay having sex during my
- 25:26fertile window and getting awareness of her cycle and said
- 25:30no, it's a woman's responsibility.
- 25:32Instead of working with the man, hopefully she's married to him.
- 25:34They're they're having a family together.
- 25:36It's now her responsibility to take this pill that has negative
- 25:39consequences to her. Man doesn't have responsibility
- 25:41here. He expects her to take the pill.
- 25:44In fact, societally today, especially with hook up culture,
- 25:47cohabitation where they don't want kids, the man's like, you
- 25:50better be on birth control. That's your job, right?
- 25:53That's your job, woman. I'm perpetually fertile.
- 25:55I don't. I mean, that's not my deal.
- 25:57You. It's your deal.
- 26:00How is this pro woman? How is this pro womanhood and
- 26:04fertility? The the uniqueness of what makes
- 26:07us a woman. It's all against us.
- 26:09So that's my quote, but let's go to my e-mail to them, because
- 26:13this e-mail was one. This quote was one very small
- 26:16part of a lengthy e-mail that I sent the Washington Post.
- 26:19And I want to go through this with you guys to debunk the
- 26:23Washington Post's lies about. Birth control.
- 26:27So this is some very valuable, these are some very valuable
- 26:30facts for you about the harm of birth control that I think that
- 26:34you should know, we should know and that we should be able to
- 26:36share with other people. I'm going to check the chat
- 26:39here. Too, Maddie Grace says linking
- 26:43birth control and infertility is a logical cause and effect.
- 26:45Well, you're right, Maddie. Birth control is obviously
- 26:48designed to render you at least temporarily infertile.
- 26:51That is a fact. So it's kind of, it's kind of a
- 26:54no brainer that yes, it does lead to infertility because it's
- 26:56designed for it. But there are also long term
- 26:59consequences for some women who struggle with infertility after
- 27:03the use the frequent use of hormonal birth control.
- 27:07OK, so let's go to the e-mail here.
- 27:10So Lauren Rubber had emailed me back in January.
- 27:13She's a reporter for the Washington Post.
- 27:15She calls herself a health reporter.
- 27:18And she said Lila. I'm hi, Lila.
- 27:20I'm working on a story about social media and hormonal birth
- 27:23control and have seen some of your public comments.
- 27:26I would love to hear your thoughts on the following
- 27:28questions. And then she sent a list of
- 27:30questions. I wrote a set of responses.
- 27:32So I'm going to go through these responses already.
- 27:35I think it's important to note that this reporter was going
- 27:38into the story instead of actually weighing the real
- 27:42concerns that medical experts and researchers and doctors and
- 27:46women have about birth control against the facts that are
- 27:51available from those that research and that study and kind
- 27:53of weighing. Yes, these are some of the
- 27:55harms. This is where there's
- 27:57controversy about it. She's just going full hog with
- 27:59the narrative that there isn't harm.
- 28:02Social media is full of people saying that there is, and
- 28:05they're all lying or they're all misinformed dummies, right?
- 28:09That's her narrative established.
- 28:10Already. And you can see it even in the
- 28:13questions that she's asking me. So the first question she sent
- 28:16me was you have called birth control an abortifacient.
- 28:20Can you explain why? OK, pretty straightforward.
- 28:23Birth control can absolutely be an abortifacient.
- 28:27In fact, if you read the insert in in a birth control package,
- 28:31right, the paper insert, it will say that it actually can prevent
- 28:34not just fertilization but implantation.
- 28:37What that means is it's possible that for women on hormonal birth
- 28:40control, the baby can still be conceived.
- 28:43There can still be fertilization between a sperm and an egg and
- 28:46early embryo can be formed and that embryo then after the next
- 28:50few periods of days, a period of a few days, well, if it's, you
- 28:54know, he or she is healthy, will migrate to the uterus to
- 28:58implant. That's called implantation.
- 29:01And at that point is when the baby's heart usually starts
- 29:03beating within a short time. So it's an incredible process,
- 29:07an incredible journey. And birth control companies
- 29:10themselves admit, well, birth control isn't just designed a
- 29:12lot of it. To prevent fertilization, to
- 29:15prevent the embryo from being created.
- 29:18But it also can prevent the embryo from implanting by
- 29:21hardening or making the uterus A hostile environment for the baby
- 29:26to implant. And that would mean that the
- 29:28birth control pill is designed to be an early term abortion.
- 29:32And this is true of IUDS typically and other forms of
- 29:35long acting, they call it larks, long acting reversible
- 29:39contraception, but long form contraceptions like a
- 29:42contraceptive, contraceptives like IUDS.
- 29:47So that's that's not my opinion, that's not my belief.
- 29:52That's a fact. That even the manufacturers of
- 29:55birth control of many forms of birth control admit to.
- 29:59So I wrote that response as much to the reporter.
- 30:02Of. Course, this response is not
- 30:04included in the piece. The piece doesn't address this
- 30:06at all. Why?
- 30:08Because it's very inconvenient for women to know this.
- 30:11They don't want women to know that the birth control that you
- 30:13may be taking may also be working as an early term
- 30:17abortion. An early term abortifacient.
- 30:20Most women have no idea that the birth control pill is designed
- 30:23to do not just one but two things typically prevent
- 30:27fertilization of a baby, but then also force an early
- 30:30miscarriage via making the hostile, making the the uterus A
- 30:35hostile environment. All right, so there's that.
- 30:39Of course not reported in the piece.
- 30:40OK, let's go to the next one here.
- 30:45Someone in the chat is saying, doesn't every medicine have side
- 30:48effects listed? Why is birth control different?
- 30:51Great question. I mean, you're.
- 30:53Watching for those that still watch like cable news or
- 30:55something, You see those commercials for like the latest,
- 30:58I don't know, drug for diabetes or whatever it is.
- 31:01And then there's the smiling family and the smiling, you
- 31:04know, the dog running through the field and they're saying
- 31:06this medication may cause vomiting, weight loss and
- 31:10suicide and death. You know, please take under
- 31:12prescription with the advice of your doctor, whatever, right?
- 31:14You've probably heard that commercial before.
- 31:17Why does birth control not not be held to any of the same
- 31:22standards? Why is it that birth control
- 31:24should actually not receive any criticism?
- 31:27Well, it's the agenda of the Post of course.
- 31:29And by the way, the Washington Post later on in their article
- 31:33will go on to promote and support this new kind of birth
- 31:38control which they want to be available over the counter
- 31:41without prescription so a 12 year old can go and pick it up
- 31:44and buy it from the store like a Snickers bar.
- 31:46That's what the Washington Post is like.
- 31:48End game agenda in the article is.
- 31:49So we'll get to that in a minute.
- 31:51OK, Second question that the Washington Post asked me.
- 31:54Why is there a? Movement among prominent,
- 31:56prominent conservative commentators, including
- 31:59yourself, to question the safety of hormonal birth control.
- 32:04Well, listen, to be clear, ever since I started doing any kind
- 32:08of public commentary over 15 years ago, I have been
- 32:10criticizing the harm of the birth control.
- 32:13Pill and the mass use and pushing of the pill on women.
- 32:16I've been talking about this for probably 15 plus years now, so
- 32:20this isn't a new phenomenon. This has been happening for over
- 32:23a decade. What's happening increasingly is
- 32:26more women are becoming aware of the harms of birth control women
- 32:29on both sides of the political spectrum.
- 32:31And it's not just conservative commentators that are reporting
- 32:33on this. In fact, there's a lot of left
- 32:35wing groups that have reported on this as well.
- 32:38And so I addressed that to the Post.
- 32:39I tell them this, so I tell them.
- 32:42First of all, many women are rejecting hormonal
- 32:44contraceptives because they have seen in their own life or in the
- 32:47lives of those close to them, the detrimental.
- 32:49Effects The detrimental effects of these contraceptives.
- 32:53The concern about the safety of hormonal contraception is not
- 32:56exclusive to some conservatives, but it it spans different
- 33:00ideologies, faiths, political backgrounds, different levels of
- 33:03expertise. You can be a researcher and have
- 33:05the concern in an everyday woman who just experiences The birth
- 33:08control has a concern. And then I actually quote some
- 33:12of this. Research.
- 33:13So I start with as an example of Vogue magazine.
- 33:17Vogue magazine. Vogue magazine is not a
- 33:19conservative pub. OK, this is not a right wing
- 33:22outlet. Vogue Magazine.
- 33:24In case you didn't know, Vogue magazine is very left wing.
- 33:27You could argue as left wing as they come.
- 33:29And Vogue magazine says that women, younger women, are
- 33:32turning away from the pill in droves so they didn't make it
- 33:35about left versus right. They just say younger women are
- 33:37not wanting this anymore. An NHS British National Health
- 33:42Service study found that the women, the number of women in
- 33:45contact with sexual and reproductive health services who
- 33:47used user dependent contraception, including the
- 33:50pill, had dropped by more than 13% between 2005 and 2015.
- 33:55This is not about left versus right.
- 33:57This is women in general who are getting off of the pill,
- 34:00according to a survey by NHS. It says.
- 34:04It goes on to say, or I go on to share with them, this other
- 34:08report from NCBI. So this is a the Institute for
- 34:13Quality and Efficiency in Healthcare who talk about the
- 34:16side effects that women face from birth control.
- 34:19So this is a. Study It's actually multiple
- 34:22studies, talking about headaches, nausea, sore breasts,
- 34:25vaginal, yeast infections, spotting between periods, mood
- 34:29swings. Remember they were so critical
- 34:31of criticizing mood swings. The Tik toker who said, yeah, my
- 34:34mood was horrible. Reduction of sexual desire and
- 34:38blood clots, These are all side effects that are documented from
- 34:42hormonal contraception. Not according to some right wing
- 34:45commentator, but according to the Institute for Quality and
- 34:47Efficiency in Healthcare published in a medical journal.
- 34:50Even the FDA, our Food and Drug Administration, has added that
- 34:55high blood pressure and weight gain have added high pressure
- 34:58and weight gain to the risks, to the list of risks and side
- 35:01effects to a woman's health who takes birth control.
- 35:04The National Cancer Institute confirms that hormonal birth
- 35:09control puts women at an increased risk of breast cancer
- 35:12and cervical cancer. These are not right wing pubs.
- 35:16Washington Post and interestingly, the Washington
- 35:20Post failed to include any of this research or these links,
- 35:24these studies that I sent them in their report.
- 35:27They failed to even mention that such things exist in their
- 35:30report. Instead, all they had to say was
- 35:32that crazy, right? Right wingers are lying to women
- 35:36online and should be banned and censored by TikTok.
- 35:39So the amount of dishonesty here is staggering.
- 35:42It's really staggering that someone who is a trained
- 35:46journalist would go through the. Process and of trying this hard
- 35:49to be this dishonest. All right, She also asked me.
- 35:52Some experts say you are working to vilify hormonal birth control
- 35:56in order to limit access to it. Do you have a response?
- 36:00And I responded by saying many experts criticize hormonal birth
- 36:05control, including, you know, many doctors researchers.
- 36:09I mentioned Doctor Jerelyn C Pryor hair.
- 36:11There's Doctor Jolene, Brighton. She has a whole.
- 36:14Website that gathers. The harms of birth control and
- 36:16encourages women to get off of it, 'cause it's harmful to their
- 36:18health. I mean, this is not like one and
- 36:21and these are not people on the right, these are not people
- 36:23politically on the right. These are people who are simply
- 36:25concerned. About women's healthcare.
- 36:27So again, the misinformation here from the Washington Post,
- 36:30the framing to try to make this this big conservative
- 36:32conspiracy, which is obviously not.
- 36:35All right, last question, that's was the last question from the
- 36:37Post I go on to, you know share my quote here about how it's
- 36:42actually anti woman to say that our fertility is a disease.
- 36:47That's true. Your fertility as a woman is not
- 36:50a disease. It is actually a sign of health
- 36:53and it's an an essential function of your body that
- 36:57interacts with all the other systems in your body.
- 37:00And don't let any doctor or medical professional who's by
- 37:03the way, working with big pharma, they're selling pills.
- 37:06They're, you know, giving out drugs.
- 37:09Don't let them just tell you, oh, your medical condition
- 37:13you're facing. You just take birth control and
- 37:15you'll be fine. That's the best I can do for
- 37:17you. If you are struggling as a
- 37:18woman, you have health issues you're struggling with.
- 37:21Find the medical professionals who are actually going to help
- 37:24you get to the bottom of the issues that you're facing.
- 37:26Don't accept a medical professional that's just going
- 37:29to slap birth control prescription in your hand and
- 37:31say go and go take care of it. It's not going to take care of
- 37:34it. It will have side effects.
- 37:35You deserve better. That is my message for women.
- 37:38And then in addition, educate yourselves.
- 37:41Let's be educated about the fact that birth control can be an
- 37:44abortifacient and in addition, we should be embracing our
- 37:49fertility as women. And we should embrace sexual
- 37:52ethics that say we shouldn't just be, again, having sex just
- 37:56anytime, anywhere. It's not a big deal.
- 37:58There's not sexual morality around it.
- 38:00And so if we get pregnant, you know, just use birth control to
- 38:02prevent pregnancy. If you get pregnant and you were
- 38:05using birth control, you just have an abortion.
- 38:06That whole, that whole system, that whole societal system today
- 38:11of sex is not sacred. Just have it.
- 38:14Whatever. It's your choice.
- 38:15As long as there's consent, just use birth control.
- 38:18You'll be fine. Oops, You're pregnant.
- 38:19Go get an abortion. That whole framework is not
- 38:23serving anyone. It's hurting everyone.
- 38:26And it's a framework that is rife with ethical issues.
- 38:30You know, there's there's, there's a reason there's a moral
- 38:32construct around sex. It's.
- 38:34For good because sex is a design, and sex is designed to
- 38:37bring human life into the world, Not in every situation, but in
- 38:41many. And sex is designed to bond two
- 38:43people together. That's a beautiful thing.
- 38:45And that's why I am always talking about the beauty of sex
- 38:48and marriage. Because you are committed for
- 38:50life to this person and you're willing to raise a family with
- 38:54them. So if life comes from your
- 38:56union, that life is not seen as a threat and rejected via
- 38:59abortion or otherwise, but you're ready to embrace that
- 39:02beautiful new human life. So sex is designed for unity.
- 39:05Sex is designed for procreation. Let's not dismiss that or shut
- 39:09it down and hate on that, which is what we seem to be.
- 39:12Have we seem to have popularized in today's culture.
- 39:16All right, let me know your guys thoughts on that.
- 39:17I'm going to look at the chat here and then we're going to go
- 39:21to the Christ is King Twitter trend yesterday, as well as the
- 39:25fact that Christ is king and this is Easter week, so there's
- 39:30some other comments here, Lisa says.
- 39:32I told my sisters about how birth control may act as an
- 39:34abortifacient years ago and I was very ignored.
- 39:37One sister was even angry. I'm sorry to hear that.
- 39:40It's good that you're talking about it, though, because I, you
- 39:43know, these things can be tough for people to hear.
- 39:45When you've been told one thing your whole life and you've acted
- 39:49on that one thing you've been told, and then you find out that
- 39:51what you've been told your whole life and acted on is not true
- 39:54anymore, that can be a hard pill to swallow.
- 39:57So I can understand why they might have been been upset and
- 40:00not wanted to believe what you had to say.
- 40:02But it's good for you to share what you know, 'cause it's to
- 40:04help them, right? We're we don't share this
- 40:06information. About birth control and
- 40:09fertility and you know, sex, we don't share it in any way to
- 40:12harm or hurt or shame or anything.
- 40:15It's to it's to love. It's to help people have the
- 40:18facts that they deserve to be healthy and also to live lives
- 40:22and make good choices so that we can all be happier.
- 40:24I mean, that is, that is the beautiful thing about truth is
- 40:27it does help people in the end, even if because of all the lies
- 40:31of the culture, it can be hard to listen to at. 1st All right,
- 40:35so let's go to Christ as King. Now let me know if you guys saw
- 40:39this on Twitter trend trending yesterday.
- 40:41I logged in later in the evening and it was trending and I was
- 40:43looking at what was trending. And first of all, he is king.
- 40:47He's king of my life, as you guys know.
- 40:49He is. I'm a Christian.
- 40:51My Catholic faith is the most important thing to me.
- 40:54Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
- 40:56So I love the phrase because it is the truth of my life.
- 41:00I want to talk about the what that means, especially in like
- 41:03the Twitter context and sometimes more political
- 41:05context. But before I do that, I have to
- 41:07thank our last two sponsors for the for the podcast today.
- 41:12And first of all, I want to thank good ranchers.

- 41:16Com again Pro Family pro-life Company.
- 41:20But what's really cool about good ranchers is they've
- 41:22identified that 90% of the meat in your grocery store comes from
- 41:27not this country. Even though it says Made in the
- 41:29USA on it, a lot of it is coming from out of the country, from
- 41:33being imported in from other nations.
- 41:35And they don't always have the same health standards, they're
- 41:37not always sourced the same. And so the reality is we don't
- 41:40know. You don't know where your meat
- 41:42or your chicken is coming from, even if the package says made in
- 41:44the USA. And there's a solution for that.
- 41:47You can and you should know where your meat and your poultry
- 41:51and your pork or your fish is coming from.

- 42:18You can actually get. I think it's a year of free.
- 42:20Chicken is the deal right now if you use the code Lila at

- 42:38this company, very good. Salt of the earth people.
- 42:41Every life is the fastest growing baby product company in
- 42:45the country right now. So big shout out to
- 42:47everylife.com and they sell diapers and wipes.
- 42:49Again, a subscription service direct to consumer.
- 42:52Cut out the middleman and they're amazing products.
- 42:54So these are like low leak diapers, you know, great
- 42:57materials for your baby's skin, all the things and the price
- 43:00point is good and they support the pro-life movement.
- 43:03So they literally did a diaper drive with live action and we
- 43:06sent it was over 1000 packages of diapers to moms in need.

- 43:18discount on your first order. So it's Holy Week, guys.
- 43:23Yesterday was Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is when we remember
- 43:29and we celebrate Jesus entering Jerusalem before Passover and
- 43:35before his crucifixion and then resurrection.
- 43:38And he's fulfilling the prophecy and he's entering Jerusalem
- 43:40riding on a donkey. And the the people are so
- 43:43excited because he just performed all these miracles, he
- 43:46done all this preaching and he has this very passionate
- 43:49following following him into Jerusalem.
- 43:51And they're waving palm branches and laying down their clothes
- 43:53and their palm branches before Jesus as he rides into Jerusalem
- 43:57on this gentle little donkey. And many people at the time.
- 44:01When Jesus came into the world over 2000 years ago and he
- 44:04started performing miracles and amassing all these crowds, many
- 44:08people, very zealous people, wanted Jesus Christ to be their
- 44:12king. The Jews were awaiting the
- 44:15Messiah, the Jewish people, and for some of the Jewish people
- 44:19they believed that that Messiah would set them free from Roman
- 44:22rule and that Messiah would be this powerful ruler who would
- 44:27come with a sword and fight and save the Jewish people from
- 44:30persecution and establish a Kingdom here on earth.
- 44:33That was the belief of many Jews, not all but many.
- 44:37And when Jesus Christ came, born in a Manger in Bethlehem, truly
- 44:42a king, but born in poverty. And Jesus Christ came and people
- 44:47would try to make him king. When he was doing his miracles
- 44:51and preaching, they would literally want to make him king
- 44:53and crown him king, and he would flee them.
- 44:55He would say, my Kingdom is not of this world.
- 44:59He would, He literally said to them, my Kingdom is not of this
- 45:01world, that he was not there to bring a sword to fight the Roman
- 45:06Empire, but he was there. Ultimately he was going to come
- 45:09to die on a cross in public humiliation for the sins of all
- 45:14people. So I think when we say Christ is
- 45:18king, we have to understand. Both the historical.
- 45:21Context and spiritual context of the phrase and what it really
- 45:24means because it does not mean political power in this world.
- 45:28It does not mean that. It means eternal sovereign reign
- 45:35of our God who is omniscient, omnipowerful, omnipresent.
- 45:40He is, He is, He is the king of the universe.
- 45:43But he chose well on earth to die and be treated as the least
- 45:47of these for the sake of our salvation.
- 45:51I want to share 3 Bible verses that I think are good for us to
- 45:54meditate on as we enter this last week before Easter, these
- 45:59last few days of Lent. This is Holy Week.
- 46:02There's going to be Good Thursday.
- 46:03There's going to be Good Friday. There's going to be Holy
- 46:07Thursday, Good Friday, there's going to be obviously, Saturday
- 46:09when Jesus is in the tomb. And then we're going to have the
- 46:12resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.
- 46:14And the first verse that I want to read here is from Matthew
- 46:191128. And this is this is what Jesus?
- 46:23Is asking from us and what he's offering to us.
- 46:27This week. So this is a verse for us, for
- 46:29all of us. This week Jesus says come to me
- 46:33all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- 46:39Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.
- 46:43For I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest
- 46:47for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my
- 46:51burden is light. Jesus is saying, I'm here
- 46:55ultimately for your rest. I'm here for you to learn from
- 46:59me and to follow me, and I am gentle and lowly in heart.
- 47:03What was the spirit of our Lord during His passion, gentleness,
- 47:08lowliness of heart? He told Peter, who got
- 47:12impassioned, or one of his disciples, who got impassioned
- 47:14and cut the ear off one of the Roman soldiers trying to defend
- 47:18Jesus from getting captured in the garden while he was having
- 47:22his final agony. And before Judas Iscariot
- 47:24betrayed him with the kiss, he told him do not those who live
- 47:28by the sword die by the sword. He didn't want him to fight the
- 47:30Roman soldiers, he said let them take me.
- 47:33He had a posture of complete submission because he was there
- 47:37to give his life, not to rule in an earthly way, but to give his
- 47:41life. So that is the spirit I think we
- 47:44are called to as Christians. It's one that I need to live and
- 47:48I need to wrestle with. I'm a work in progress, and
- 47:51that's the spirit of meekness and humility of heart.
- 47:55So if we're going to go out and triumphantly say Christ is king
- 47:57as we can and we should, we do it with that meekness and
- 48:01humility of heart. Knowing that the kingship that
- 48:03we claim of that is Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ is over our
- 48:07lives and over the universe. But in this life we will have
- 48:11suffering in this life, we will have political powers that
- 48:14oppose us in this life. We will have the spiritual
- 48:17battles that we play out. And our path to holiness isn't
- 48:20to grab at power in this life, political power in this life.
- 48:25Although we want to make good progress in our institutions and
- 48:27we want to, you know, fight the pro-life fight, we need to fight
- 48:29these battles. But our path to holiness and our
- 48:32path to help convert other souls is not a grab at power and
- 48:37control and authority. But it's a radical submission in
- 48:42the in the honoring and in the obedience to Jesus Christ, a
- 48:47radical submission of our hearts to God and a service of other
- 48:52people. The next Bible verse that I want
- 48:55to read is when Jesus says in John 1836, this is very
- 49:02important. He says my Kingdom is not of
- 49:06this world. If my Kingdom were of this
- 49:09world, then my servants would then then would my servants
- 49:13fight that I should not be delivered to the Jews.
- 49:16But now my Kingdom is not from. Hence, this is really important
- 49:20because some of the crisis king content that's happening online
- 49:24is said by many Christians kind of saying it to the Jews, those
- 49:29who are practicing Jews online, 'cause you can be a Jewish
- 49:31Christian. Jesus was a Jewish Jewish
- 49:33Christian, OK? Mary was a Jewish Christian.
- 49:35The first Christians were Jews. So this idea of like Christians
- 49:38versus Jews is already weird, a weird construct.
- 49:41That's incorrect. But there are practicing Jews,
- 49:44of course, who do not see Jesus Christ as the Messiah.
- 49:48It's Jesus Christ, the historical person, Jesus Christ,
- 49:50God. And they are still, you know,
- 49:53living out their their Judaism, their faith.
- 49:56As they are. And so there is this trend that
- 49:58I'm seeing of some Christians online who are saying basically
- 50:01to Jewish bosses or or you know, people in the conservative
- 50:05movement or elsewhere and it's kind of caught up in the
- 50:07politics of the Israel Gaza war. I mean there's all of these
- 50:09nuances, but basically saying, well, Christ as king, take that,
- 50:13take that. You don't want to take the, the,
- 50:17the, the, the holy. Words of Christ as King.
- 50:20And use it as some sort of, some sort of put down against your
- 50:25Jewish brothers and sisters, OK? Or anybody.
- 50:29You can say it in truth and in its beauty and in in the joy
- 50:33that, you know, saying it, 'cause he is the king of the
- 50:35universe. But to use it as some sort of a
- 50:38political statement. And then to feign ignorance
- 50:40that, oh, you're you're taking offense because you're just a
- 50:43Jew or something when you were intending it specifically at
- 50:47Jewish people. And that's not, that's not
- 50:50living the Christian spirit of meekness and gentleness.
- 50:53That's not living the spirit of this Holy Week.
- 50:55So I think we need to be cautious about maybe the zeal,
- 50:59the zealousness with which we want to proclaim.
- 51:01Christ's kingship. And make sure that that
- 51:03zealousness is towards his eternal sovereignty and not
- 51:07towards us wanting more political power and media power
- 51:09in this life. Because that's some of the.
- 51:12Other narratives happening online, It's like, well,
- 51:14Christians are being persecuted in media.
- 51:16And there's some. Anti-Semitic tropes about how
- 51:18the Jews are persecuting Christians in media.
- 51:20And it's just that whole pathway of politicizing the words of our
- 51:25Lord. The word, the truth about our
- 51:27Lord that he is king is antithetical to the Christian
- 51:32spirit with which we should have and Jesus Christ specifically
- 51:36saying my Kingdom is not of this world.
- 51:39He's saying to us as Christians, your job is not to build systems
- 51:43of power in media and politics and all these things.
- 51:47Yes, you may be called to do work in media and politics, to
- 51:50reform it, to bring salt and light, but my Kingdom is not as
- 51:54this world, my Kingdom is a world that is eternity.
- 51:59I am the Sovereign Lord in eternity.
- 52:02And in this world we will have suffering.
- 52:04In this world we will have persecution in this world.
- 52:07Our answer may not be to clutch at political power, especially
- 52:10if we're going to be compromising anything in the
- 52:11process, but it may be to endure a suffering for a time.
- 52:15And that is the Christian way and always has been.
- 52:18You know, the church, the early church was founded on the blood
- 52:22of the of the martyrs, the blood of the martyrs who didn't band
- 52:26together and form militias to fight Roman rule and overthrow
- 52:30it. But the blood of the martyrs who
- 52:32peaceably gathered to try to live out their faith and then
- 52:35were snatched up and persecuted and even when they were
- 52:39persecuted, refused to compromise, refused to deny
- 52:43their faith. But it's not like they went to
- 52:45physical war with the Romans at the time to go fight them and
- 52:49and stop them. And again, I'm not saying you
- 52:51can't do self-defense as a Christian.
- 52:52I mean there's so much nuance here, but I think the spirit is
- 52:55the key, the spirit of humility, the spirit of meekness with
- 52:59which which is what we are called to.
- 53:02And and I'm remembering that the Christian project here on earth
- 53:07can involve working in politics. It certainly does for many.
- 53:10It involves it for me. But the end of the Christian
- 53:13project here on earth is not political power.
- 53:17It's not some monarchy here on earth, but it's an eternal
- 53:21Kingdom that we are aiming towards.
- 53:24And in this life we may have trouble.
- 53:25And if we face that trouble, if we face discrimination or
- 53:29persecution as Christians in this life, our response should
- 53:32not be immediately to grab the sword and say how dare you, how
- 53:36dare you, Christ as king, And I'm going to fight you back and
- 53:40we run a band together. But our response would be I love
- 53:42you, Christ is king, I love you. And I am here to bring the
- 53:48gospel and try to suffer as best I can, the way my Lord.
- 53:51Did right last Bible verse I want to share.
- 53:56This is from Matthew 7/21/23. Now this is a serious these are
- 54:01serious words from Christ, and I think this is the cautionary
- 54:03note I want to include here, guys, Jesus Christ says.
- 54:08Not everyone who says to me, Lord Lord, shall enter the
- 54:13Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who
- 54:17is in heaven on that day, many will say to me, Lord, Lord, did
- 54:23we not prophecy in your name, Cast out demons in your name?
- 54:27Do many mighty works in your name?
- 54:29Did we not tweet Christ as king in your name?
- 54:34And then I will declare to them, I never knew you depart from me,
- 54:38you evil doers. Now I take this.
- 54:40Personally, because this is to me as much as it is anyone
- 54:43listening. We can say all the right things.
- 54:47We can believe all the right things.
- 54:49We can even do mighty works for, for we think for God, Lord,
- 54:53Lord, wanting to build His Kingdom, build power to serve
- 54:57him. It's about, you know, we're
- 54:59we're we're saying it's for him, we prophesized in His name.
- 55:02But if our hearts are not right. If our hearts are not right, if
- 55:06our hearts are not truly seeking in the end the glory of Jesus
- 55:11and truly seeking to grow in humility and love, love, love of
- 55:16Him and love of others, then we should be concerned.
- 55:19And in Jesus is warning us to be concerned.
- 55:23Because at the end of the day, the purity of our heart, Lord,
- 55:26the Lord looks at our hearts. And I can't judge the heart of
- 55:30really anyone on Twitter. Exactly.
- 55:31I mean, you can see their words and you can say, oh, that
- 55:33doesn't look good about their hearts.
- 55:34If their words are this right. You can, you can make that
- 55:37prudential, you know, you can be discerning in that way, right.
- 55:40But at the end of the day, it is what matters is what is in our
- 55:43hearts. And the Lord sees that.
- 55:44And so I want to encourage all of us.
- 55:46This is Holy Week, the last few days of Lent, and this is the
- 55:50time to make our hearts right. And the power of God's grace is
- 55:55this, that even if we have one movement of our heart towards
- 55:58the good and say, Lord, I know I've got bad things in my heart.
- 56:01Maybe I've got bias or prejudice in my heart.
- 56:04Maybe I have unholy anger in my heart.
- 56:06Maybe I have envy in my heart. Maybe I have.
- 56:11You know, whatever it is in my heart.
- 56:13Lust in my heart, whatever it is.
- 56:16Lord, help me, Lord, help me. I want to be pure of heart.
- 56:20Help me be my heart. Give me your heart, Lord.
- 56:24Go to confession. You know, many of you listening
- 56:26are Catholic. Not all.
- 56:27But you can go to confession. It's an incredible last few days
- 56:30before we celebrate the Tribune before Easter that you can go to
- 56:35confession, tell the Lord where you're at, open your heart to
- 56:38him, and let's together encourage each other to be meek
- 56:42and humble of heart. This can be hard to be,
- 56:45especially on social media, on Twitter, you know, what does it
- 56:48mean to be meek? What does it mean to be humble?
- 56:50We should probably do an episode exploring these things, because
- 56:52these words can be thrown around.
- 56:54But the core of it is this. Jesus Christ came into the world
- 56:58not to overthrow the Roman Empire by force and institute
- 57:01himself as king in an earthly way, and to have the political
- 57:05power in an earthly way, which is one of the reasons many of
- 57:07the Jews didn't want to accept him because he wouldn't do it.
- 57:11Jesus Christ came into the world to bring the truth and to die on
- 57:16the cross for our sins laid out in a position of ultimate
- 57:21humiliation and extreme suffering, extreme suffering.
- 57:27And he could have in an instant gotten off that cross and blown
- 57:29up the whole place been the Lord in a moment, in an earthly way.
- 57:33He chose not to. He chose to suffer, and he tells
- 57:36us to learn from him and to be gentle and lowly of heart like
- 57:39he was for the sake of souls. So what a beautiful, what a
- 57:44beautiful Lord we have, King we have, and what an example we
- 57:50have to follow. And and the good news is this.
- 57:54He will give us the strength for what he will ask from us.
- 57:57He will give us the strength for what he will ask from us.
- 58:00He always will. He always has.
- 58:03And that's why he says come to me all you who are wary.
- 58:07He's like I will give you the strength you need.
- 58:10So this Holy Week, go to him, open your heart, confess your
- 58:13sins, and let's enter into a beautiful celebration.
- 58:17Come this Sunday when we get to proclaim with true joy and and
- 58:22great, great gratitude that he is the king of our souls and the
- 58:25king of the universe. All right, there's my thoughts
- 58:29on Christ as king. Let's go to the chat for a few
- 58:31minutes and then we're going to close out here.
- 58:32Any questions? Let's pull up a few questions.
- 58:37I got in via Instagram. We've got some here.
- 58:43Tishmal says, Jesus, meek and humble of heart.
- 58:45Make my heart. Like unto mine.
- 58:48Thank you, Tishmal. That's beautiful.
- 58:49I love that Jesus meek and humble of heart.
- 58:52Make my heart like unto thine, Maria says.
- 58:57I love this perspective. That's what being Catholic is
- 58:59about. Thank you for using your
- 59:00platform to explain this. Thank you, Maria.
- 59:06Liliana Lila, how are you feeling with this pregnancy?
- 59:10I have a 19 month old daughter and just this past week has gone
- 59:13through a miscarriage. Seeing you glow with this
- 59:15pregnancy brings me so much joy. First of all, Liliana, I'm so
- 59:19sorry to hear that. I'm so sorry about your
- 59:22miscarriage. That is so, so tough and.
- 59:26We will be. Praying for you this evening in
- 59:27our family prayers. I I know miscarriage can be so
- 59:30painful. I'm sorry for the loss of your
- 59:32little one. Thank you for your kind words
- 59:37and I know it When you're when you have your own pregnancy
- 59:39loss, it can be a loss of your baby.
- 59:41It can be hard when you see other women pregnant.
- 59:43I remember having a miscarriage and just experiencing other
- 59:47women at the time pregnant too. And then they didn't miss Carrie
- 59:50and just, you know, I was happy for them.
- 59:52But it just reminds you too of your your own loss.
- 59:55But I know the Lord had a plan and I'm so grateful.
- 59:59I mean, I think I've got like two more weeks basically before
- 1:00:02this baby is due. So we're really gearing up for
- 1:00:05her. We can't wait.
- 1:00:06Her little brothers are so excited to meet her and I'm
- 1:00:08feeling pretty good. I I think I'm have a little bit
- 1:00:11of the absent mindedness. I lose track of what I'm
- 1:00:14thinking. Extra tired, uncomfortable, all
- 1:00:17the normal things. But thank you for bearing with
- 1:00:19me during this live stream. By the way, guys, 'cause I do
- 1:00:21think pregnancy brain is real, and I do think I've been having
- 1:00:24it lately with the podcast, so you may have already noticed
- 1:00:27that, but it is a real thing. All right, here's some questions
- 1:00:31and then we'll close out here. Starting out here, what are the
- 1:00:35most, What are the? What strategies are most
- 1:00:38effective in converting people to pro-life?
- 1:00:41So I think that there's numerous approaches that we can take.
- 1:00:45But I think engaging people personally, asking them
- 1:00:47questions about why they believe what they believe on a personal
- 1:00:49level is very powerful. If you're going to have a
- 1:00:51conversation about abortion with someone, So really understand,
- 1:00:54like, what do you believe? Why?
- 1:00:55Why do you think abortion is OK? Why?
- 1:00:57You know, what is your position on it?
- 1:00:58When do you think life begins? The Socratic method of just
- 1:01:01asking them questions about where they're at often leads to
- 1:01:04really fruitful conversations. I also want to recommend two
- 1:01:07resources. One of them is
- 1:01:09abortionprocedures.com and this is a live action research
- 1:01:13research resource that shows the most prominent or the most
- 1:01:17prevalent abortion procedures in the first, second and third
- 1:01:20trimester. It's not gory.
- 1:01:22These are animated medical depictions of what happens
- 1:01:24during the procedures, and we found that simply showing that
- 1:01:28and talking about it, what happens during these abortion
- 1:01:30procedures can be mind changing for many people.
- 1:01:33So I would say that's a great resource to actually talk about
- 1:01:35what abortion is. And another great research
- 1:01:38resource is to talk about human development and when life
- 1:01:41begins. And another great resource that
- 1:01:44Live Action has created is called Baby Olivia.
- 1:01:46You can go to babyolivia.com and it shows all the gestational
- 1:01:50markers. Of the child's.
- 1:01:52Development Another great website is Window to the Womb,
- 1:01:55which is every single day of pregnancy.
- 1:01:57You can see the development developmental markers and you
- 1:02:00can talk to someone you know. Is this a human life?
- 1:02:03Do you think it is? Should human lives, all of them,
- 1:02:06be protected and given the right to life?
- 1:02:08And at what point in this development of this baby would
- 1:02:13would it be OK to kill them? I mean, when you think about it
- 1:02:15that way, it's amazing the conversations that you may have
- 1:02:18and open up with somebody who beforehand supported abortion.
- 1:02:22All right, we're going to take another question here.
- 1:02:25Actually if you can scroll up, there was there was a question
- 1:02:28about prayer time which I saw earlier, which I think we'll end
- 1:02:32with because we are in holy wake here.
- 1:02:35I think there was we got in a lot of questions.
- 1:02:37I saw it might be at a different side here, but the question was
- 1:02:42basically actually let me just pull it up directly here.
- 1:02:48So the question is how do? You fit in OK, here we go.
- 1:02:53I thought this was an interesting question.
- 1:02:55How do you fit in rosary time with job, kids,
- 1:02:58extracurriculars, etcetera? The rosary, of course, is a very
- 1:03:02special prayer where you are basically saying scripture.
- 1:03:05You're saying Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee,
- 1:03:08blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy
- 1:03:10womb, Jesus. And then you ask for the blessed
- 1:03:13Mother's intercession. So I know a lot of non Catholics
- 1:03:16listen to this show as well as Catholics, so I'll just do my
- 1:03:18best shot at explaining this 'cause I think it's really
- 1:03:20valuable. There was actually another
- 1:03:22question about what? How do you respond to the
- 1:03:24concern that Catholics worship Mary?
- 1:03:27We should probably do a whole. Episode on this at some point.
- 1:03:29Let me know if you want me to do that.
- 1:03:30But no, Catholics do not and should not worship Mary.
- 1:03:33They venerate Mary, and Mary is the mother of God, so she's
- 1:03:37worth venerating like an incredible role model.
- 1:03:40And she's also seen as someone who can pray for us.
- 1:03:43And there's scriptural evidence for Mary interceding.
- 1:03:47And she does that with Jesus's first miracle.
- 1:03:49She's the one who comes to Jesus at the wedding feast at Canaan,
- 1:03:52says they have no wine, And Jesus says, woman, what does it
- 1:03:55have to do with me? And she says basically says to
- 1:03:57the servants do. As he tells you.
- 1:04:00And Mary is the one who notices there's a problem and an
- 1:04:04everyday problem, like they don't have food at the wedding.
- 1:04:06I mean, she's very practical as his mother and she's telling
- 1:04:11Jesus do something about it. And Jesus listens to her.
- 1:04:14And Jesus performs his first miracle after being prompted by
- 1:04:16his mother. And Jesus included that.
- 1:04:18And had that included in Holy Scripture, I think to show us
- 1:04:21the power of Mary's yes to God's will and Mary's request of God.
- 1:04:28Now this doesn't mean that Jesus didn't want to perform the
- 1:04:29miracle. It doesn't mean that Jesus, you
- 1:04:31know, wouldn't have performed a miracle.
- 1:04:32It means that Jesus allowed in his in his.
- 1:04:36Basically his environment of graces, Jesus allowed Mary to
- 1:04:40play an important. Role.
- 1:04:42And I think that role was not just for time and space, one
- 1:04:45time in this scriptural story, but it's for all time because
- 1:04:49Mary is the Queen of Heaven. And you know, in Revelation they
- 1:04:52talk about the Queen. And holding the child and
- 1:04:56wearing a crown. And you talk about the dragon
- 1:04:58trying to attack the child coming from the queen, from the,
- 1:05:00from the woman, the virgin. This is all an illustration of
- 1:05:04Mary. She's a real person that's in
- 1:05:06heaven forever with God. So all this to.
- 1:05:08Say I believe we can ask for Mary's prayers.
- 1:05:11We can get into this in another episode about well, wasn't she
- 1:05:13dead praying to the dead. It's not praying to the dead,
- 1:05:16per SE. She's very much alive.
- 1:05:18She's in heaven. Forever.
- 1:05:19And she's sitting, you know, glorifying God forever and that
- 1:05:23her intercession is powerful. So the Rosary is remembering
- 1:05:27Mary and her incredible role in salvation history as the mother
- 1:05:31of God. And it's asking for her prayers.
- 1:05:34And I was asked, well, how do you pray the rosary when you're
- 1:05:36so busy? Great question.
- 1:05:38The way that. We do it as a family, is that
- 1:05:40each night before bed we sit down and have family prayers.
- 1:05:43My husband and our two little boys, the boys are kind of
- 1:05:46crazy. The prayers usually last like 10
- 1:05:48to 15 minutes, and sometimes they'll participate, sometimes
- 1:05:51they'll just be crazy. But we pray a decade of the
- 1:05:53rosary together as a family, as well as pray for all of our
- 1:05:56intentions, thank God for all of his blessings, and just have
- 1:05:58this beautiful time of prayer. So we do that very faithfully
- 1:06:01every night again. Sometimes it's crazy 'cause
- 1:06:03they're two. And four year old.
- 1:06:04But sometimes they participate and it's beautiful.
- 1:06:07They'll pray part of the rosary or they'll pray for their
- 1:06:09friends. Or once in a while they'll say I
- 1:06:11pray for Papa, I pray for Mama. And it's a great way to ensure
- 1:06:15that we. Are praying at least part of the
- 1:06:17rosary each day. So highly recommend even
- 1:06:20abbreviated family prayer time in the evening and including the
- 1:06:24rosary in your devotion. All right, guys, thank you so
