- 1:18Speaker 1: believes that her music heals, encourages, and inspires others to
- 1:22Speaker 1: trust more than themselves. She is triumphantly carried the torch
- 1:26Speaker 1: for Contemporary Gospel and Inspirational Music for your thirteen glorious albums.
- 1:31Speaker 1: She is an incredible single mom, an amazing entrepreneur, a
- 1:35Speaker 1: mentor who is filled with the spirit and blessed with
- 1:38Speaker 1: one of the most powerful voices in any music format.
- 1:41Speaker 1: This used used to Native. I gotta say houstonative because
- 1:44Speaker 1: I'm a Houston native and one time school teacher has
- 1:47Speaker 1: been a stately beacon of God's life. Please working with
- 1:51Speaker 1: the money making conversation. My good friend LANDA. Adams. Hello,
- 1:58Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. You know it's always find that happen.
- 2:00Speaker 1: You're on the show. You're like my emotional check up.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You know you I would I would tell people the
- 2:07Speaker 1: other you when you want to be successful. You you
- 2:09Speaker 1: don't want to be the smartest person in the room.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And my compliment to her is that it's not the
- 2:14Speaker 1: ego on me. Is that she allows me to understand
- 2:18Speaker 1: the value and listening and accepting new information, and so
- 2:23Speaker 1: that's important in any circle that you roll into. So
- 2:27Speaker 1: when she comes on my show, we meet in person,
- 2:29Speaker 1: there's always a genuine love and a clear understanding of
- 2:32Speaker 1: her value that she gives not only to me to
- 2:35Speaker 1: listen to advice on it. If you don't follow, you
- 2:38Speaker 1: should follow her on social media. A post, an inspirational hood,
- 2:41Speaker 1: a smile, iss joyous, joyous, And then when you listen
- 2:45Speaker 1: to her thing, you're inspired and sometimes brought the tears
- 2:48Speaker 1: because the emotion that she taps into inside. I know
- 2:53Speaker 1: God gave you that talent, Ms Adams, but what allows
- 2:57Speaker 1: you to promote that talent. Well, here's one of the
- 3:00Speaker 1: things that I say about the voice. It's um It's
- 3:06Speaker 1: fueled by experience and triumph. So I know exactly what
- 3:13Speaker 1: I'm singing. I know exactly uh the emotion that went
- 3:18Speaker 1: into overcoming And sometimes people want the easy way out
- 3:23Speaker 1: when it comes to life, whether it's business, relationship, family,
- 3:29Speaker 1: it doesn't matter we want the easy way, but the
- 3:31Speaker 1: easy way is not the teachable way. Everything you do
- 3:37Speaker 1: in your life is going to cost you something. But
- 3:40Speaker 1: here's the deal. The cost is far less than the
- 3:46Speaker 1: glory afterwards. And so you know that that voice cost
- 3:52Speaker 1: me something. It cost me some people. It cost me
- 3:56Speaker 1: uh you know, you know recently, it cost me some family.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Remember you know, through you know, um, through death in um.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It costs some um, some friends. It costs time, It
- 4:11Speaker 1: costs rehearsals, it costs a lot that people really don't uh,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you know, they don't added up. They think that, oh,
- 4:22Speaker 1: you just wake up and you sound like that. No,
- 4:24Speaker 1: I wake up and I do sound like that. But
- 4:26Speaker 1: that's years of being able to do what I do.
- 4:30Speaker 1: And then I don't take the privilege lightly. I look
- 4:33Speaker 1: at it as a privilege. I told someone yesterday. If
- 4:36Speaker 1: you are working in a place or a situation and
- 4:41Speaker 1: you don't feel joy, that is not your assignment. You're
- 4:45Speaker 1: just going to work. You know, it's really important that
- 4:48Speaker 1: or time, I think, and the whole balanced life conversation
- 4:52Speaker 1: I always try to bring to my guests on the
- 4:54Speaker 1: show so they can tell me how they deal with it.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Because she's a very powerful and accomplished single mom. And
- 5:00Speaker 1: so when that's where the time comes in right there,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and being that she's famous, it can intrude onto her
- 5:07Speaker 1: daughter's life. And that's very important that people understand it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Like a lot of people they don't understand. There's so
- 5:13Speaker 1: many layers to being famous. There's so many layers to
- 5:16Speaker 1: having especially with social media, having your life exposed to
- 5:20Speaker 1: millions and millions of people can like you or I
- 5:22Speaker 1: have a comment about how you look or what you're
- 5:25Speaker 1: doing and why are you doing it? And so your
- 5:27Speaker 1: daughter now is at Howard University. I know there was
- 5:30Speaker 1: much stress, much stress. Well what I told you before,
- 5:35Speaker 1: they have to go back to your podcast that we
- 5:38Speaker 1: did uh um in in Houston where uh we talked
- 5:42Speaker 1: about that, and I told you, no, I'm not gonna
- 5:44Speaker 1: be stressed. I have capital police. You know. The first
- 5:54Speaker 1: couple of the first couple of weeks, you know, being
- 5:57Speaker 1: in the house by myself and around missing you know,
- 6:02Speaker 1: making those fruit plates at night. Uh, it taught me
- 6:06Speaker 1: a lot about myself and it taught me, uh to
- 6:10Speaker 1: relaxing what I had nurtured her to become m we
- 6:15Speaker 1: You know, it's interesting because you know, might I have
- 6:18Speaker 1: a daughter. She's twenty one, and she always says she
- 6:21Speaker 1: calls me, and if she don't call me for a
- 6:23Speaker 1: couple of days, she knows, hey, okay, I call her, said, okay,
- 6:26Speaker 1: what's going on there? You know, you know, your dad
- 6:29Speaker 1: gotta hear from you, what's going on in your life.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And she's doing amazing in colleges with the academic she's
- 6:35Speaker 1: on the A roll. So she's doing she's living life right.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But it's still as a parent, you know, you you know,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you just want to make sure your your child has
- 6:43Speaker 1: a better life than you have, and also you want
- 6:46Speaker 1: them to be secure. You don't want anything to happen
- 6:48Speaker 1: to him. And I know that that when you when
- 6:50Speaker 1: we joke and talk about these things. But it's all
- 6:53Speaker 1: part of being a good parent, and a good parent
- 6:55Speaker 1: will always care, you know, and all you wanna do.
- 6:57Speaker 1: All I want to do is my daughter to have
- 6:59Speaker 1: a better life than I have, and I don't want
- 7:00Speaker 1: her to I'll live my life exactly. Well, that does
- 7:04Speaker 1: not mean that we don't FaceTime. I give her her space,
- 7:11Speaker 1: but yeah we're gonna be FaceTime. Oh good. So let's
- 7:15Speaker 1: let's get to this entrepreneurship. Young lady, you know, stot
- 7:19Speaker 1: there making that money while you're sleeping. Now, that's that's
- 7:21Speaker 1: the beauty of what you're doing. Absolutely, So talk about
- 7:25Speaker 1: these are y a handbacks that are affordable, classy, elegant
- 7:29Speaker 1: for your lifestyle and soulo online. And first of all,
- 7:32Speaker 1: I'm getting little mad with you because now I've not
- 7:35Speaker 1: gotten any banners and you know, almost got a million
- 7:40Speaker 1: followers over that's a Ricky Anderson thing. You know, we
- 7:44Speaker 1: got Look, we got your banners coming because because you
- 7:48Speaker 1: know the thing about it, you know especially, I want
- 7:50Speaker 1: to do it this week because Mother's Day it's Sunday,
- 7:53Speaker 1: So I like to get those banners up on my
- 7:55Speaker 1: site this weekend. Then I got a newsletter coming out.
- 7:59Speaker 1: It's coming out, and so I wanted I want to
- 8:00Speaker 1: put in the newsletter. I put you in the subject line.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I put you in the subject line. That sounds good
- 8:04Speaker 1: to me. We'll look. As soon as I get off
- 8:06Speaker 1: the phone with you, I am going to talk to Ricky.
- 8:10Speaker 1: I've got good friend Ricky, absolutely, because that's what it's about,
- 8:14Speaker 1: relationships and being being an entrepreneur. And so as that
- 8:18Speaker 1: as that title grows in your life, and tell us
- 8:21Speaker 1: about these handbags, while uh, you know, I am so
- 8:26Speaker 1: fortunate to be able to um to to create what
- 8:32Speaker 1: I love. And I know people ask me all the time, rashan,
- 8:37Speaker 1: what are you wearing? Who are you carrying? Who does
- 8:40Speaker 1: your makeup? What kind of makeup? So I started thinking, low,
- 8:43Speaker 1: if a hundred people everywhere I go ask me the
- 8:47Speaker 1: same question, I have probably ten million women somewhere, who
- 8:52Speaker 1: would uh pick up whatever I am? You know what
- 8:56Speaker 1: I whatever I have on, whatever I'm carrying. And so
- 9:00Speaker 1: Ricky and I started talking about accessories because you know,
- 9:04Speaker 1: with accessories, there's no um there's no size, so you
- 9:09Speaker 1: don't have a lot of returns. Because that's always my thing.
- 9:13Speaker 1: What's going to give me the best return on my investment,
- 9:17Speaker 1: which will also be applauded by my audience, so they
- 9:23Speaker 1: don't return it and say, oh I didn't like this
- 9:26Speaker 1: or it didn't fit me. Scars, handbags, belts, those kinds
- 9:32Speaker 1: of things are so universal. Every woman needs accessories, and
- 9:37Speaker 1: then every man needs to know, well, what can I
- 9:40Speaker 1: buy my wife or my girlfriend or my mom that's
- 9:43Speaker 1: not going to you know, cost me a grip, as
- 9:46Speaker 1: they say. And I worked with the same guy, the
- 9:50Speaker 1: same manufacturing company that provides bags for um burged Off
- 9:58Speaker 1: and good Men, also for Bloomingdale's and all of these places.
- 10:05Speaker 1: But it is a direct to consumer um uh situation.
- 10:11Speaker 1: So you don't have the middleman, you don't have the
- 10:14Speaker 1: stock fees, you don't have all of this kind of stuff,
- 10:17Speaker 1: which made a whole lot of sense to me because
- 10:20Speaker 1: you you know, being in business, that stock fees can
- 10:25Speaker 1: go all the way up to a hundred a hundred
- 10:26Speaker 1: fifty dollars according to what you're stocking. Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely,
- 10:31Speaker 1: so I said, let's cut out the middleman. Let's be
- 10:35Speaker 1: our own direct store. And the persons have been flying
- 10:40Speaker 1: when I tell you, flying out of the warehouse, mm hmm,
- 10:45Speaker 1: and I see, I see. You know what, I can't
- 10:47Speaker 1: take no credit for that. I'm gonna if I had
- 10:50Speaker 1: had a bad I could be there. You know that
- 10:52Speaker 1: part part of that flying, Well, I gotta get that
- 10:56Speaker 1: back in because because Mother's Day coming up, so I
- 10:59Speaker 1: gotta be part of this just flying out the door action.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Attorney Ricky Anderson, hed better hear from you today. So
- 11:05Speaker 1: I get these batteries because that's part of relationships, and
- 11:08Speaker 1: we talked about that all the time. When you come
- 11:10Speaker 1: on on our show money making Conversations. I'm speaking to
- 11:13Speaker 1: you a lot of Adams, one of the true great voices.
- 11:16Speaker 1: And uh, when I say I would say we we
- 11:19Speaker 1: say gospel. But you know, you get called on, You'll
- 11:22Speaker 1: be on the Grammage, You'll be on American Idol. You know,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you you different formats, and so when you cross over
- 11:28Speaker 1: to those different formats and seeing I would say, what
- 11:31Speaker 1: the non gospel music? How do how do your fans
- 11:34Speaker 1: react to that? Well, my true fans are always excited
- 11:39Speaker 1: that God. You know that God takes me into areas
- 11:43Speaker 1: that are so uncommon for other folks. Number one, you know,
- 11:49Speaker 1: you know how it goes. There's an aesthetic that people
- 11:51Speaker 1: are looking for. I fit that aesthetic. I'm tall, you know,
- 11:56Speaker 1: I'm lean. I love clothing, you know, so I look
- 12:01Speaker 1: the part. I look like I can be on television representing,
- 12:05Speaker 1: so they don't have a problem with that. And then
- 12:08Speaker 1: I love music. And most of the people that they
- 12:11Speaker 1: asked me to um to represent are people that are
- 12:17Speaker 1: my friends or that I love, you know, at case
- 12:19Speaker 1: and Point, Anita Baker, you know, she's been a friend
- 12:22Speaker 1: of mine forever and I love her dearly. Also Linel
- 12:26Speaker 1: Ritchie uh, you know, uh, of course, you know the
- 12:29Speaker 1: Whitney tributes, all of the tribute, the Shaka kN tributes.
- 12:33Speaker 1: These are actual friends of mine, so I get a
- 12:37Speaker 1: chance to do those, and it is you know, it's
- 12:40Speaker 1: only those people who think that they know who I
- 12:44Speaker 1: am or assume what Christian people are able to do.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Because most of the people who make the comments of
- 12:53Speaker 1: folks who don't even go to church or don't even
- 12:55Speaker 1: claim to be Christian. Why how can a Christian woman
- 12:58Speaker 1: get up and think I got drop drop dup On
- 13:04Speaker 1: the phone with London Adams of we're talking about a career,
- 13:06Speaker 1: talking about talking about being a fantastic single mom, also
- 13:10Speaker 1: talking about her being an entrepreneur. When we come back,
- 13:12Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about her foundation. And also I always
- 13:16Speaker 1: like to go back to the school teacher days because
- 13:19Speaker 1: she always just grinding and get a grip. You know,
- 13:22Speaker 1: it's a school teacher talking right there. Back for more
- 13:24Speaker 1: money making conversations. Okay, ro Sean McDonald, you're back. I'm bad.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm happy to be back. I'm happy to be on
- 13:32Speaker 1: my podcast, happy to be on Serious ex M, have
- 13:34Speaker 1: to be live in Atlanta, Chargia, happy to be syndicated,
- 13:37Speaker 1: into North Carolina and that means my brand is growing
- 13:42Speaker 1: outside of And I always tell people, follow your dreams,
- 13:45Speaker 1: follow your opportunities. Started as a stand up comedy comic, Uh,
- 13:50Speaker 1: then branched out as a sitcom writer were all of
- 13:54Speaker 1: the show executive producer, then managed one of the most
- 13:56Speaker 1: powerful talents and media today and Steve Harvey, and decided
- 14:00Speaker 1: to take a step back because I didn't have a
- 14:02Speaker 1: balanced life. And I said that important. Sometimes you take
- 14:06Speaker 1: a step and a balanced life, it can affect you.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Not having a balant can affect your pocketbook. But guess what,
- 14:10Speaker 1: if you believe in the process and you believe in
- 14:13Speaker 1: the what you're doing is right for you and your family,
- 14:16Speaker 1: then it's all going to become very very good for
- 14:18Speaker 1: you in the long run. And that's what's happened to
- 14:20Speaker 1: me on the phone is a line of the atoms. Uh.
- 14:23Speaker 1: She's a inspiration in the community and her family, and
- 14:27Speaker 1: she's touched me many many years, many many years. We
- 14:30Speaker 1: should do celebration of gospel. So I've been doing her
- 14:33Speaker 1: a long time, long time, long time. And Uh, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: you know that that smile, girl, that smile, if it's
- 14:40Speaker 1: always made me um attracted to your personality just you know,
- 14:46Speaker 1: even though like on Facebook, Yeah, I think I think
- 14:50Speaker 1: your Facebook or Twitter, you're standing there with that. I
- 14:52Speaker 1: think that the pastel, a flowery dress and you're just
- 14:55Speaker 1: smiling and we're going like, look at this. If you're
- 14:59Speaker 1: not if you're not attracted to, if that doesn't gravity,
- 15:02Speaker 1: if that doesn't pull you in into a positive environment,
- 15:05Speaker 1: it lets you know that your life is good, and
- 15:08Speaker 1: your life is really really good, isn't your Landa? It
- 15:11Speaker 1: really is. Look, you know the love of my life,
- 15:14Speaker 1: my little Taylor, she's doing well. She's an adult now,
- 15:17Speaker 1: so she's doing very well. We have all the products
- 15:21Speaker 1: that we were just talking about, the y A bags,
- 15:24Speaker 1: we have the simply Landa. We have to wake up
- 15:27Speaker 1: with the Landa coffee. There's so many things that we're doing.
- 15:30Speaker 1: We're in the studio right now for new music. So
- 15:34Speaker 1: I mean, you can go to my website, Yolanda Adams Live,
- 15:37Speaker 1: or you can follow me on face I mean on
- 15:39Speaker 1: Twitter at uh Yolanda atoms with the blue check. I
- 15:44Speaker 1: have a million plus people following me. So don't don't
- 15:47Speaker 1: fall for the ones that say two thousand, because those
- 15:50Speaker 1: are fake pages right right right, annoying you. That's two
- 15:55Speaker 1: thousands should have been on your million. That makes me mad.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I know, whn't that's something. Now, let's you went through
- 16:01Speaker 1: a real fast on those are simply let's let's low
- 16:05Speaker 1: down what exactly is simply land Knows the skin care line.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I've actolutely used that product and given to my my daughter.
- 16:12Speaker 1: She actually does it in college at the University of Houston,
- 16:16Speaker 1: so I'm very familiar with that. So explain to everybody
- 16:18Speaker 1: else what's going on. Simply, Yeah, simply a Landa is
- 16:22Speaker 1: my bath and body line that incorporates so many good
- 16:26Speaker 1: oils back into your skin without stripping them. We have
- 16:31Speaker 1: the the shower uh and and and body I mean
- 16:36Speaker 1: shower and bath Uh. Soap, well, it's not really soap,
- 16:39Speaker 1: it's like a gel. And then we also have the
- 16:43Speaker 1: Soufle which is our lotion. It is it's like triple whipped. Uh.
- 16:49Speaker 1: You Once you shower and then you put that lotion
- 16:53Speaker 1: on you, you can forget about any kind of moisturizer
- 16:57Speaker 1: for the rest of the day. And it's for the
- 16:59Speaker 1: it's for the body. We are working right now with
- 17:02Speaker 1: our chemists on something for the the actual face that
- 17:07Speaker 1: will do the same thing. But I wanted to give
- 17:10Speaker 1: our listeners something that would uh not cost them an
- 17:14Speaker 1: arm and a leg, because there are a lot of
- 17:16Speaker 1: great products out there, but some of them have irritants
- 17:21Speaker 1: like alcohol and things like that in them, and I,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you know, you know me, I'm a natural girl, and
- 17:27Speaker 1: I wanted something that would you know, that would give
- 17:30Speaker 1: them the moisture that they needed because as I got older,
- 17:33Speaker 1: I saw my skin getting drier, and you know, I
- 17:36Speaker 1: drink tons of water, but I'm like, something's changing. So
- 17:40Speaker 1: when the cellular part of you is changing, you can
- 17:43Speaker 1: help it rejuvenate and turn over in a positive way
- 17:47Speaker 1: and then you know, you get that great skin that
- 17:49Speaker 1: you're always looking for. And of course we already talked
- 17:52Speaker 1: about the white handbags my new baby. I absolutely love it.
- 17:56Speaker 1: That's also on Yalong to Adams Live and the Wake
- 18:00Speaker 1: Up with Yolanda Coffee. That's also on Yolanda Adams Live
- 18:04Speaker 1: dot com, my website. Everybody can follow me on Yolanda Adams,
- 18:09Speaker 1: on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, all of that and on Instagram.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I give my uh a few seconds of inspiration. Absolutely
- 18:20Speaker 1: I got her and I'm following her, so you know,
- 18:23Speaker 1: she got me in so many ways. I got. When
- 18:25Speaker 1: I'm feeling bad, I just go over there and looking
- 18:26Speaker 1: at her a smile. She got me back. Now, let's
- 18:30Speaker 1: let's talk about the little thing that that the school
- 18:32Speaker 1: teacher days that you still you still mentor you know
- 18:36Speaker 1: on profit Voice of an Angel, where you're focused on
- 18:38Speaker 1: mentoring high school students nationwide in order to help them
- 18:41Speaker 1: find a career in education. Yes, because I think that's important.
- 18:47Speaker 1: First of all, being able to be a teacher for
- 18:51Speaker 1: seven years really did transform and change my life. Because
- 18:55Speaker 1: my degree was in radio TV journalism. So I graduated
- 18:59Speaker 1: from tex the Southern University with that degree, went to
- 19:02Speaker 1: Channel eleven. Uh, they fired all of us week I
- 19:08Speaker 1: got there. After I bought that cool firebird. I'm like,
- 19:12Speaker 1: oh my god, what am I gonna do? My mama
- 19:13Speaker 1: bet you better go find a teaching job because at
- 19:16Speaker 1: least you can keep your car. So I went to Uh,
- 19:21Speaker 1: my godmother was like the assistant principle at one of
- 19:26Speaker 1: the schools, and she said, oh yeah, we always need
- 19:29Speaker 1: long term substitute. So I went and did a long
- 19:33Speaker 1: term substitute situation for like a half a year, and
- 19:37Speaker 1: she said, Okay, go back get your certification. It's real easy.
- 19:40Speaker 1: You can get it done at t Issue. Well, of course,
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know Dr Cherry Gooden at t Issues, She's like Adams.
- 19:46Speaker 1: I'm not just gonna let you get your certification. You
- 19:49Speaker 1: better get your entire education degree. I went back, got
- 19:54Speaker 1: that and uh started teaching for seven years. And I
- 19:57Speaker 1: am so glad I did that because I know what
- 20:01Speaker 1: every kid in America is going through. I've dealt with
- 20:05Speaker 1: everything from kids being in foster care, kids being abandoned,
- 20:10Speaker 1: kids not having food after school. I mean, there's so
- 20:14Speaker 1: many issues that happened with our children. So the Voice
- 20:18Speaker 1: of an Angel Foundation was really like a springboard from
- 20:22Speaker 1: from that, because I wanted to make sure that once
- 20:25Speaker 1: kids got out of high school that they were nurtured, mentored,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and really followed to be their best selves, because I
- 20:36Speaker 1: think that's what we're all here for, to make other
- 20:38Speaker 1: people better. And you are. You're making people a whole
- 20:41Speaker 1: lot better and through your inspiration in your words. Now,
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'll be remissed you said it earlier. Coming this year,
- 20:48Speaker 1: new music with some amazing collaborations. Can you give us
- 20:51Speaker 1: a sneak peek? Oh my god, Jimmy, jam Terry Lewis,
- 20:55Speaker 1: Donald Lawrence Israel Houghton, Rockney Jerkins. Oh, let huh these
- 21:02Speaker 1: are legendary names. Yes, these are legendary names. Rodney East
- 21:06Speaker 1: my music director. You know, we are now Tony nominated
- 21:10Speaker 1: for our our song on the SpongeBob's uh SpongeBob SquarePants
- 21:17Speaker 1: Broadway Musical. So you know, now let's just go throw
- 21:20Speaker 1: that out there. I have to throw that, you know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: because because I always have to, uh always acknowledge you
- 21:26Speaker 1: as Emmy winning producers. So now I am Tony Award nominated.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Adams praise the Lord for that, uh Grammy and then
- 21:36Speaker 1: Tony Award. No, I'm gonna go. We're gonna go and
- 21:38Speaker 1: get these blessings out there on a big way. Here
- 21:40Speaker 1: we are. So that's so funny because I'm a big
- 21:44Speaker 1: fan of SpongeBob. I'm a big SpongeBob SquarePants. I'll tell you,
- 21:48Speaker 1: krusty Patties, I'm telling you, don't give me deep on
- 21:51Speaker 1: its not okay, yeah, crap check that's I don't find
- 21:55Speaker 1: my SpongeBob. So so, so when you get it far
- 21:59Speaker 1: off with something like at how does it come to you?
- 22:03Speaker 1: And how do creatively do you do? You do? You
- 22:05Speaker 1: all guess you know, dissect opportunity to thing we always
- 22:11Speaker 1: you and I have always been big on relationships. Relationships
- 22:16Speaker 1: do not just have to be in your circle. What
- 22:21Speaker 1: I found is that people who admire the music admire
- 22:25Speaker 1: me for a whole lot of things. First of all,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I'm a writer. I'm a Grammy Award winning writer. I
- 22:30Speaker 1: also am a New York Best Times h New York
- 22:34Speaker 1: Times bestselling author writer. And so I also worked with
- 22:39Speaker 1: these gentlemen um at Electric Records who are now at Nickelodeon.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Dot Cone is actually one of the vps at Nickelodeon,
- 22:50Speaker 1: and he said, um, you know, they were in a
- 22:52Speaker 1: meeting about SpongeBob, the Broadway musical, and Tina Landau who
- 22:58Speaker 1: is she is opt Broadway, She's worked on everything, and
- 23:03Speaker 1: they said, we need a gospel like tune for SpongeBob,
- 23:08Speaker 1: and Tina and Doug looked at each other in uh.
- 23:12Speaker 1: In the meeting at the same time, Ylanda Adams came
- 23:16Speaker 1: out of their mouths and who knew, you know, I
- 23:21Speaker 1: always pray for greater doors, opening more opportunities, all of that,
- 23:27Speaker 1: and and the opportunity came and I called my music director,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I'm like, uh, Rottney, we need this a s A P.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Here's my idea. I'm gonna sing it for you. You
- 23:39Speaker 1: put it on, you know, put the music with it,
- 23:41Speaker 1: and that's how we did it. And it, when I
- 23:44Speaker 1: tell you it is it is huge. It's Patrick Star's
- 23:49Speaker 1: big number in the in the Broadway musical. I mean,
- 23:53Speaker 1: I couldn't be more happy. Oh my god, this is amazing.
- 23:56Speaker 1: As always, our interviews are amazing. I wanted to say it,
- 24:00Speaker 1: Happy Mother's Day. Thank you. And again you owe me
- 24:04Speaker 1: a lot of things. You owe me some banners, uh,
- 24:07Speaker 1: I know you can for white handbags. You owe me
- 24:10Speaker 1: banners for simply your Landa, your skincare line, you owe
- 24:13Speaker 1: me banners for wake Up with your Landa, your call
- 24:15Speaker 1: fee line. And I came way to the collaboration as
- 24:18Speaker 1: as you say your new title, Tony nominated your Landa Adams.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Thank you for calling my show. Okay, thank you so
- 24:26Speaker 1: much for I love you. Love you. To appreciate you,
