- 0:00Speaker 1: Today's show is pre recorded. Y'all know what time y'all
- 0:05Speaker 1: don't know y'all have a suit on the don giving
- 0:13Speaker 1: them like the million things and the tofu good it.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Steve listening to the move together for Stuart. Please, I
- 0:38Speaker 1: don't join me. You gotta turn. You gotta turn to
- 1:41Speaker 1: turn out, turn got to turn out to turn turn
- 1:46Speaker 1: the water the water. Come come on your baby, daddy,
- 2:02Speaker 1: I sure will good on everybody you're listening to the voice,
- 2:07Speaker 1: Come on dig me now, one and only Steve Harvis,
- 2:09Speaker 1: man old man, got a radio show. Yeah, I do.
- 2:12Speaker 1: God so big to me, man, I just have to
- 2:15Speaker 1: tell you about it. I can't help it. It's rather
- 2:19Speaker 1: obvious to me how big, how good God is. He's
- 2:23Speaker 1: absolutely tremendous. He's off the chain, you know, man, I
- 2:28Speaker 1: want to share something with you today. You know, if
- 2:32Speaker 1: you're out there, start your mission today. Why don't we
- 2:37Speaker 1: all decide together better yet? Let's just kill that because
- 2:41Speaker 1: you don't that just individually. Look you listening, everybody's got
- 2:46Speaker 1: something that's that's on the table that they haven't yet
- 2:50Speaker 1: attacked yet. What are you waiting for? Start your mission today?
- 2:54Speaker 1: Stop the procrastination now, and if you and if you
- 2:58Speaker 1: allow practical excuse, man, if you allow procrastination to set in,
- 3:03Speaker 1: then that that allows then which is a weakness, you know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but that allows the devil then to just really do
- 3:11Speaker 1: his thing, because an idle mind is the devil's playground.
- 3:15Speaker 1: So if you ain't working on your goal's dreams, aspirations
- 3:18Speaker 1: or visions, and you you just waking up seeing how
- 3:21Speaker 1: today gonna go, or the devil he got plenty for
- 3:23Speaker 1: it for you to do. See. But if you get
- 3:26Speaker 1: your mind right on your goal and your focus and
- 3:29Speaker 1: your purpose, then you can go on about your business.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Then when the distraction comes, you can catch yourself. Now
- 3:35Speaker 1: that don't mean you ain't gonna fall privy or fall
- 3:37Speaker 1: prey to some of your distractions, because you will, but
- 3:40Speaker 1: you will have a goal in mind, an aspiration that
- 3:44Speaker 1: makes you go. Hold on, man, I got to stay
- 3:46Speaker 1: focused here because what I really want while I'm really
- 3:49Speaker 1: trying to go the thing that I'm really after, this
- 3:52Speaker 1: new little thing that's being introduced, this don't fit into
- 3:56Speaker 1: the equation. Man, Let me keep it moving, or you
- 3:59Speaker 1: may stay up off the line for a little while.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You know, like I said yesterday, your thing about God
- 4:04Speaker 1: is He's so forgiving that if you get out of line,
- 4:06Speaker 1: he'll hold your place. See that's the real cool thing.
- 4:09Speaker 1: A lot of people to do that for you too.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Like I said, if you're the movie theater, or you're
- 4:12Speaker 1: at the amusement park and you're in the line and
- 4:14Speaker 1: you forget something, if you politely ask the person behind you, hey, man,
- 4:18Speaker 1: I gotta run to my car left something, would you
- 4:20Speaker 1: hold my place? Most people say, fine, you gotta go ahead,
- 4:23Speaker 1: and when you come back, they don't have a problem.
- 4:25Speaker 1: See your problem is is you want to get out
- 4:27Speaker 1: the line, go do something, then come back and just
- 4:30Speaker 1: get up in the line further up than you were,
- 4:32Speaker 1: or cut somebody. Now you got a problem because see
- 4:35Speaker 1: everybody looking at you now like Heroy Wall partner, where
- 4:37Speaker 1: you come from? You know the line start back here.
- 4:40Speaker 1: But see the thing with God is God don't do that.
- 4:43Speaker 1: God don't say the line start back here. God holds
- 4:46Speaker 1: your place. When you make a mistake and you fall
- 4:49Speaker 1: off the line, God hold your place. But if you
- 4:52Speaker 1: ain't got no dreams, aspiration, if you ain't got no place,
- 4:56Speaker 1: what he holding for you? See, I mean he got
- 4:59Speaker 1: a place for you, But you gotta come to it
- 5:01Speaker 1: see some people if well, here's what I'm saying. If
- 5:05Speaker 1: you got a goal or aspiration, a dream and you
- 5:08Speaker 1: fall off track momentarily, you can get back to that
- 5:13Speaker 1: because God knows where you're left off. Now, you may
- 5:16Speaker 1: have to accomplish a few more things since you stop
- 5:19Speaker 1: for a long period of time, but God know where
- 5:21Speaker 1: you left off, you can get back on track. I look, man,
- 5:25Speaker 1: this dream of being on TV since I was a kid,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and it got off track. Now it got off track.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I just kept it as one of the dreams. And
- 5:34Speaker 1: in some real dog moments when it looked like it
- 5:37Speaker 1: wasn't gonna happen, all I was hanging on to was
- 5:40Speaker 1: just a hope that one day it could. But that's
- 5:43Speaker 1: what faith is really about. Faith is the belief in
- 5:47Speaker 1: things that you cannot see. But faith gives you the
- 5:50Speaker 1: confidence to keep hoping. Man, sometime it just keep hope alive.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Sometimes you heard Jesse Jackson said, just keep hope alive. Sometimes, man,
- 6:00Speaker 1: it's just the hope. I was hanging on a hope.
- 6:05Speaker 1: And I'm talking about when it got real ugly and
- 6:08Speaker 1: funky out there for me, when it looked like I
- 6:10Speaker 1: wasn't gonna ever make it and all of the facts
- 6:14Speaker 1: was in and everything pointed in the direction. You're not
- 6:17Speaker 1: gonna make it. You didn't really messed up this time.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Then I sat there and I just hung on to
- 6:23Speaker 1: the hope. But man, that's what I'm saying. If you
- 6:27Speaker 1: got a dream on aspiration of vision or something, when
- 6:30Speaker 1: you fall off track and you want to go get
- 6:33Speaker 1: back in line, God holds your place. He knew I
- 6:37Speaker 1: was off tracking how the line, but he said, okay,
- 6:39Speaker 1: here's where we stopped. You want to be on TV
- 6:42Speaker 1: that when you get it together and you quit tripping
- 6:44Speaker 1: and you come in your turn to me, I'm gonna
- 6:46Speaker 1: hold your place, put you back in line. Then we're
- 6:48Speaker 1: gonna finish the journey. That took me a lot longer
- 6:50Speaker 1: to get here than I wanted to, But then it
- 6:53Speaker 1: was necessary because I needed all of the mishaps to
- 6:56Speaker 1: happen to me along the way. So when I got
- 6:58Speaker 1: on the radio one day, which I and I see coming,
- 7:01Speaker 1: Steve Harvey got a radio show, y'all. That's why I said,
- 7:04Speaker 1: every day, see because of this radio show that I
- 7:06Speaker 1: didn't see coming. Now I have stories to tell, and
- 7:10Speaker 1: I can tell you about me better than I can
- 7:12Speaker 1: tell you about anybody, And I haven't been through enough
- 7:16Speaker 1: whereas relatable, where enough people can go. Man, that happened
- 7:19Speaker 1: to me. Appreciate you saying that that's what it was for. See,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I get it now. See at the time, though I
- 7:25Speaker 1: didn't like what was happening to me. At the time,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I was really in total disagreement with God on a
- 7:31Speaker 1: lot of stuff he was pulling off on me. But
- 7:33Speaker 1: in essence I was really pulling it off on myself.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But through his grace and mercy, he kept me through
- 7:39Speaker 1: all of my mistakes, all my bad decisions, all my miscalculations,
- 7:44Speaker 1: all my misfires, all the times I knowingly stepped out
- 7:49Speaker 1: there indeed wrong. He forgave me, he said, because man,
- 7:53Speaker 1: if you ever come to me, I have a plan
- 7:56Speaker 1: for you that it's going to be far in above.
- 8:00Speaker 1: It will supersede everything you've ever dreamed of. That's what
- 8:04Speaker 1: I did. I just got sick of me, good and
- 8:07Speaker 1: sick of me, and I turned it over to God.
- 8:10Speaker 1: And then God started working. And here I am today
- 8:14Speaker 1: now as he threw it me. Yet Nope, have I
- 8:18Speaker 1: arrived yet? Nope? But guess what the journey is cool?
- 8:23Speaker 1: And then you know what I found out that's kind
- 8:25Speaker 1: of what it's like in life. If you don't walked
- 8:28Speaker 1: off the cliff in life and you ain't got no
- 8:31Speaker 1: God in your life, it's like not having a parachute.
- 8:35Speaker 1: You step off the cliff and you just free falling.
- 8:39Speaker 1: We all now that fall gets you closer to the grave,
- 8:42Speaker 1: right see, were all heading to the grave from the
- 8:44Speaker 1: moment we're born. But the cool thing about a relationship
- 8:47Speaker 1: with God is when you step off the cliff and
- 8:50Speaker 1: you got God here a parachute. You're still going down,
- 8:54Speaker 1: but it's a nice ride. You guide and you're glad,
- 8:57Speaker 1: and you're softly, You enjoying your look around and you're smiling.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You're meeting other people along the way. You're floating over
- 9:04Speaker 1: here to skie a little while. You over there at
- 9:07Speaker 1: the beach for a little while, you mess around over here,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you get to go out the country a little bit
- 9:12Speaker 1: on your parachuting all that here, and God just helps
- 9:15Speaker 1: your your descent appear more like a rise and then
- 9:18Speaker 1: more like a euphoric fall. Instead of not having no
- 9:22Speaker 1: God in your life and you just walking off that
- 9:25Speaker 1: cliff every day free falling. Ain't got no core, You
- 9:29Speaker 1: steady pulling you, hauling the whole way because you to
- 9:32Speaker 1: mess around with yourself and ain't let God come into
- 9:35Speaker 1: your life and provide a parachute for you. I would
- 9:38Speaker 1: rather have a parachute since I got to jump every day,
- 9:42Speaker 1: than to not have one. God has been like a
- 9:45Speaker 1: parachute from me. Ask me why where that came from?
- 9:49Speaker 1: I can't tell you. But like I always say, most
- 9:52Speaker 1: good things that happened in my life that I can't explain,
- 9:55Speaker 1: it's usually him. You're listening show, ladies and gentlemen, need
- 10:02Speaker 1: us here. This is a Steve Harvey Morning Show, a
- 10:05Speaker 1: very very special Steve Harvey Morning Show. This morning. Let
- 10:08Speaker 1: me just start by introducing everybody. Shirley Strawberry calling for
- 10:12Speaker 1: real Junior and Nephew Tommy. Morning, Morning, Morning, morning, great morning. Yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Because yeah, this is right after the morning after the verdict,
- 10:26Speaker 1: the long awaited verdict. Everybody was on pins and needles.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We've been even though I'm still in Africa. We were
- 10:33Speaker 1: on constant communication yesterday through all of this working and
- 10:38Speaker 1: and and and trying to figure out the strategy for
- 10:41Speaker 1: today and today is is it overall just a great day?
- 10:47Speaker 1: A great day? Team, wouldn't you say so absolutely, absolutely
- 10:52Speaker 1: absolutely yes, Yes, Justice Jordan Floyd, this is a good day. Yeah. Yes,
- 11:00Speaker 1: second degree unintentional murder guilty, third degree murder guilty, second
- 11:08Speaker 1: degree manslaughter guilty. Now I just want to say this
- 11:14Speaker 1: next is the sentencing. I don't know when they're gonna
- 11:17Speaker 1: hold it. But he was out on bail while doing
- 11:22Speaker 1: the trial. But now there is no bail. He gone,
- 11:27Speaker 1: he's in jail. And so now once you get a
- 11:35Speaker 1: guilty verdict on all three of those, those are three
- 11:40Speaker 1: separate sentencing guidelines. Okay, between all three of those, Yes, yes,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I would imagine, just based on looking at this judge's face.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I don't with the quick return of the verdict, I
- 12:02Speaker 1: see him getting a lot of time. It's not gonna
- 12:05Speaker 1: be no twelve years. I see him getting a lot
- 12:10Speaker 1: of time. I don't know though. This judge. You know,
- 12:14Speaker 1: he bought up Maxine Waters in the corps that created me.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I was so upset about Maxine. Yes, do you try
- 12:23Speaker 1: to judge brought it up. Yeah, and he wished politicians
- 12:28Speaker 1: would stop talking about the case. So he bought up
- 12:31Speaker 1: the fact to the defense that Maxine Waters could whatever
- 12:36Speaker 1: she said could be grounds for appeal. So get out
- 12:43Speaker 1: of here. Everybody talking about it. Well, when is Donald
- 12:46Speaker 1: Trump gonna be grounds for what? And tered crews and
- 12:49Speaker 1: all of them that incited the riots on January sixth
- 12:52Speaker 1: at the Capitol. Yeah, be careful, y'all, be careful because
- 12:56Speaker 1: you're gonna set a precedent. And then lawyers are very
- 12:59Speaker 1: smart because they use case prior cases to help with
- 13:04Speaker 1: judgments on theirs. You start down this little path about
- 13:09Speaker 1: who said something, and you got an appeal. I got
- 13:13Speaker 1: news for your pocket. See this show with Hey, Well
- 13:18Speaker 1: today that's a great day. We decided today as a team,
- 13:22Speaker 1: we wanted to talk to the people. We want to
- 13:25Speaker 1: hear from Steve Harvey Morning Show listeners, how you feel,
- 13:29Speaker 1: what's on your mind? So today this is a special day.
- 13:33Speaker 1: We're talking to the people on the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 13:36Speaker 1: When we come back eight seven, seven, twenty ninety. What's
- 13:40Speaker 1: on your mind? Huh, you're listening to Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 13:46Speaker 1: All right, it is a good day. It is a
- 13:49Speaker 1: good day. The verdict is in for the Derek Gibbon trial.
- 13:52Speaker 1: He was found guilty on all three charges, all three. Yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 1: he was handcuffed and taking away his bed was revoked
- 14:01Speaker 1: and we're gonna spend the majority of the day talking
- 14:04Speaker 1: to you our listeners. Call us right now, let us
- 14:08Speaker 1: know how you feel the day after the Derek Chauvin
- 14:10Speaker 1: verdict eight seven seven twenty nine. Steve, let's go to
- 14:14Speaker 1: the phones, Steve Harvey MORTA show. Who is this? My
- 14:18Speaker 1: name is Susan Dickerson from Houston, Texas. Susan Dickerson out
- 14:23Speaker 1: of age town. How you doing? That's my answer? How
- 14:29Speaker 1: he all the safe this bank care rested peace with
- 14:35Speaker 1: his mama because they don't found this man guilty. Yeah,
- 14:41Speaker 1: and that's he went to the same high school I
- 14:47Speaker 1: went to m h and Yates. Susan Jack Yates all
- 14:52Speaker 1: the way three class eighty three mm class thy care?
- 15:00Speaker 1: That really is your yeah? You know you know you
- 15:03Speaker 1: and your grant me and you're granted. Jumping up and
- 15:05Speaker 1: down right, Yeah, just really your hunt? Yes, first said yes,
- 15:20Speaker 1: who you thought it was? Steve? Just a random caller.
- 15:26Speaker 1: We thank you for calling. Appreciate you all right, Steve,
- 15:31Speaker 1: Let's go to line too and talk to Peter out
- 15:34Speaker 1: of New Jersey. Peter. Hello, yes, yeah, we can hear you.
- 15:40Speaker 1: Just find Peter. What's your comment today, Peter, Yes, I'm
- 15:43Speaker 1: sorry for my accent. I'm from Africa and I just
- 15:46Speaker 1: wanted to say that it's it's it's really justice, but
- 15:50Speaker 1: it's not justice at the same time because being from
- 15:53Speaker 1: Africa and coming here, um, I've experienced these kind of
- 16:00Speaker 1: year of myself and I think now the family you
- 16:03Speaker 1: have some kind of justice and hopefully we can move
- 16:07Speaker 1: forward with incorping more us. These cups needs to understand
- 16:12Speaker 1: that it's not the way to treat people and you
- 16:15Speaker 1: once you do it, you're gonna get taught for it.
- 16:18Speaker 1: You're gonna get the consequence coming to you. So I'm
- 16:22Speaker 1: really happy with the with the outcome. Yeah. Absolutely. I
- 16:26Speaker 1: think that when police officers see the consequences being deal
- 16:30Speaker 1: that dealed out for your actions, I think that's gonna
- 16:34Speaker 1: that's gonna cause a moment of pause until you start
- 16:37Speaker 1: seeing them have to do time for crime. We wouldn't
- 16:41Speaker 1: have this problem, but they get a different set of
- 16:43Speaker 1: laws that they could do. So he may. Let me
- 16:46Speaker 1: ask you a question. What part of Africa you from.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I'm from Ghana, from Ghana, Karla is from Ghana Knas Yeah, yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 1: Colin for real, her hereditary ended base is from I
- 17:01Speaker 1: always go back every year. I couldn't go back last
- 17:03Speaker 1: year because of what Okay, yeah, I've met the President
- 17:11Speaker 1: of Ghana and the king, the Ashanti King. I've met
- 17:14Speaker 1: them both. Oh wow. And then just to see I'm
- 17:18Speaker 1: a really big fan of yours. Keep doing what you're doing.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I watched all your specials, all your stand ups and man,
- 17:26Speaker 1: you're the man. Thank you, brother. I appreciate that. Thank
- 17:30Speaker 1: you man. Hey, Man, I got big love for God.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I just talked to my boy Kevin O'Curry over that.
- 17:35Speaker 1: I wish you a happy birthday. GNA's a great place, man,
- 17:39Speaker 1: Thank you very much. Appreciate your call. Thank you by cousin.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Let's go to Aaron Line three in Detroit. Hey Aaron, Hey,
- 17:49Speaker 1: what's up Steve Harvey? Man? What you got Aaron? Oh Man?
- 17:52Speaker 1: First bout the blessing and be able to come on
- 17:54Speaker 1: your show. Man. Listen to you guys every morning for
- 17:57Speaker 1: the most part. And I'm a big fan, big fan,
- 18:00Speaker 1: but a big fan, especially that crazy and a few times.
- 18:06Speaker 1: But like to say, like I said, I'm glad the
- 18:09Speaker 1: outcome of that verdict. It came out really well. Um.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I actually listened to one of your Instagram I guess
- 18:16Speaker 1: what you were talking about this morning. Behind will it's
- 18:18Speaker 1: going to come out, And it really did, by the
- 18:20Speaker 1: greatful God, because you know, a lot of people in
- 18:23Speaker 1: America don't realize how serious this really was, you know.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And but anybody to have to anybody's family member, that
- 18:30Speaker 1: even anybody had to even witness to see something like that.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You know, a guy put his knee clear day on
- 18:37Speaker 1: somebody just to hold it down and to restrain him
- 18:40Speaker 1: and just kill him. You know, that's that's not justice, man,
- 18:43Speaker 1: especially coming from a police officer that suposed to uphold
- 18:47Speaker 1: the law and everything, you know, And that's just sickening, man,
- 18:51Speaker 1: to see stuff like that. But I'm glad it came
- 18:53Speaker 1: out like it's supposed to and we can kind of
- 18:55Speaker 1: put it the rest. But it just a wake up
- 18:57Speaker 1: call for everybody and around America too, just stuff like this. Man.
- 19:01Speaker 1: We don't hope to ever have to see this again,
- 19:03Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, right, well, I mean hopefully we won't
- 19:08Speaker 1: have to see it again. We will, we will. This
- 19:12Speaker 1: one won't won't. It won't end racism, but you are
- 19:17Speaker 1: correct in this. It is going to have a ripple
- 19:20Speaker 1: effect because police officers now are going to have to
- 19:25Speaker 1: realize that they may be held accountable to the laws
- 19:30Speaker 1: that they are paid to uphold, and you don't have
- 19:33Speaker 1: a different set of laws. And I think that could
- 19:37Speaker 1: be the ripple effect, man, And I hope, I'm hoping.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I think this is beginning of something to quail some
- 19:44Speaker 1: of this police brutality against black people, to make them
- 19:48Speaker 1: at least have a moment of pause. So you know,
- 19:50Speaker 1: but I knew when Amber Tiger Group or whatever her
- 19:54Speaker 1: name is, when they gave this white woman time for
- 19:58Speaker 1: killing this black man in his own apartment, when they
- 20:01Speaker 1: found a way to give her some time, I knew
- 20:04Speaker 1: something was going on. I knew something was going on
- 20:07Speaker 1: because they don't do that now. This white woman that
- 20:11Speaker 1: killed this young brother Dante. Yeah, that said she thought
- 20:17Speaker 1: it was her taser dog. She couldn't do some time. Yeah,
- 20:27Speaker 1: because you had the gun out in front of you.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I don't know at what point in time you didn't
- 20:30Speaker 1: know that was a gun exactly. And I could tell
- 20:34Speaker 1: the waight difference between a taber and an actual loaded
- 20:39Speaker 1: color you know, dog, one plastic, one metal, work with
- 20:44Speaker 1: me now, right, one yellow? All right, We'll take more
- 20:48Speaker 1: calls when we come back. Eight seven seven twenty nine, Steve,
- 20:52Speaker 1: right after this you're listening show? All right. Here we
- 20:57Speaker 1: are the day after the Derek Chauvin verdict guilty on
- 21:00Speaker 1: all three charges. We want to talk to you, our audience.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Please call us and let us know how you feel.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Eight seven seven twenty nine, Steve, let's go, Steve. Karen
- 21:11Speaker 1: is her name? Steve Right, This is Caraful So he's
- 21:15Speaker 1: so glad to hear be on the show. I love
- 21:18Speaker 1: you guys, who are just one of the best radio
- 21:20Speaker 1: shows ever. I love you guys. I am so relieved,
- 21:24Speaker 1: but yet so pause about this decision and this verdict.
- 21:29Speaker 1: I'm thankful that they convicted him on all three charges.
- 21:33Speaker 1: That we release are on a path, hopefully it's a
- 21:35Speaker 1: path to some justice for our brown and black men
- 21:39Speaker 1: and women. That you we can get some justice. And
- 21:42Speaker 1: like you said speech to the previous caller, that the
- 21:45Speaker 1: police officer will now think twice that you will be
- 21:48Speaker 1: held accountable. There's more of a possibility for you to
- 21:51Speaker 1: be held accountable for your actions when it comes to
- 21:55Speaker 1: just doing your job. Just do your job right, don't
- 21:59Speaker 1: add the extra Yeah, don't kill someone on your job,
- 22:04Speaker 1: reason right, for no reason, you know, defense, defense, everything
- 22:09Speaker 1: about oh well, don't don't, don't, don't count the nine
- 22:13Speaker 1: point two nine um nine minutes and twenty nine seconds
- 22:18Speaker 1: without including the sixteen minutes prior to No, even into that,
- 22:22Speaker 1: y'all still used a sective force. Y'all pulled him out
- 22:25Speaker 1: the car. He's six peaked or something. You're trying to
- 22:27Speaker 1: put him in a space. Looked like I can't confidence
- 22:30Speaker 1: and you who wouldn't, well, you know the sixteen minutes before.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I saw some of that footage, and I don't know
- 22:40Speaker 1: what happened in the sixteen minutes that that deserved this
- 22:45Speaker 1: man to die resistance. I just I didn't see nothing
- 22:49Speaker 1: in the sixteen minutes prior that says, you know what,
- 22:53Speaker 1: he should die. I didn't even think for a moment
- 22:57Speaker 1: he could die exactly. It wasn't. It wasn't the fort,
- 23:03Speaker 1: It wasn't in the forefront that he's gonna die for them.
- 23:07Speaker 1: That's an amazing thing. They made more of it. Worried
- 23:12Speaker 1: about his past, his paths ain't had nothing to do
- 23:14Speaker 1: with that in that hand, had nothing to do with that.
- 23:20Speaker 1: There are men in prison who are locked up for murder.
- 23:24Speaker 1: You can't go in there throw one of them on
- 23:26Speaker 1: the ground and put your knee in their neck, can
- 23:28Speaker 1: kill them. Right. That's that's not that's that's that's not
- 23:33Speaker 1: so what. That's really not what we're supposed to be.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Once again, what Martin Luther King said is black folks
- 23:38Speaker 1: just waiting on America to be what they say they
- 23:41Speaker 1: is on paper. That's all this really is. And I
- 23:44Speaker 1: and and I got we we got some justice here.
- 23:47Speaker 1: But I'm looking at four hundred years right. Yeah, man,
- 23:55Speaker 1: I'm just not seeing cops get cups put on them. Yeah.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And I've been here sixty four right, and this is
- 24:07Speaker 1: just one video on our time. Let's let's hope that
- 24:10Speaker 1: we can continue the progress, to continue to do things
- 24:14Speaker 1: a little bit better, and that my twenty seven year
- 24:16Speaker 1: old twin boys will have an opportunity that they can
- 24:19Speaker 1: drive down the street, my twenty nine year old daughter
- 24:21Speaker 1: can drive down the street and if she's pulled over,
- 24:24Speaker 1: if they pulled over for a reason, it's gonna be Okay,
- 24:27Speaker 1: this is a situation. Here's your summons, and and you know,
- 24:30Speaker 1: come for it and not got differently. You know, I
- 24:35Speaker 1: was happy for a second, but I hadn't think about
- 24:37Speaker 1: my children. Still got the ride and the retaliation of this.
- 24:42Speaker 1: They're not happy. They're not gonna be happy because I'm
- 24:46Speaker 1: gonna tell you something. If you have the Keim reporters,
- 24:48Speaker 1: the comporters out there, and the Chavons out there that think,
- 24:52Speaker 1: you know, we can do whatever we want to do,
- 24:54Speaker 1: there's gonna be something because now y'all got court because
- 24:58Speaker 1: y'alls wanted to say ta ka tays when the video
- 25:02Speaker 1: says you had the guns before you could say tayser,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and we wouldn't know. We only could go by what
- 25:09Speaker 1: you said, what we might might have heard, but we
- 25:11Speaker 1: didn't have any video to back up your line. Now
- 25:13Speaker 1: we got a video to back up your life. Now,
- 25:18Speaker 1: Now all right, Karen, we thank you moving You've got
- 25:21Speaker 1: to keep moving. Thank you. We appreciate your call. Thank you, Karen. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:27Speaker 1: Jay and Birmingham say in the voice can you hear me? Yes?
- 25:36Speaker 1: All I can say in the voice of ice Cube
- 25:39Speaker 1: it is a good day. I feel so much relief.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I feel so much relief in a black man. It's
- 25:46Speaker 1: just I've been crying. It's just wow. It's just so
- 25:51Speaker 1: much relief, you know, seeing like Unna see you seven
- 25:54Speaker 1: two minutes ago. I've never seen a cop go to jail,
- 25:56Speaker 1: and seeing he's going to jail for a crying me
- 25:59Speaker 1: commit it unbelievable. You know, I was telling the crew here,
- 26:06Speaker 1: I just if they would have said not guilty, I
- 26:10Speaker 1: don't know what I would have done. I would not
- 26:16Speaker 1: what to do, because, man, the other side of me
- 26:19Speaker 1: is still alive, you know. I try not to be Look,
- 26:25Speaker 1: God didn't changed me over the years, but I'm telling you, man,
- 26:29Speaker 1: that's a piece of me that has the ability to surface.
- 26:33Speaker 1: And I was really concerned because I was trying to
- 26:36Speaker 1: think of as a radio personality, what do I come
- 26:39Speaker 1: on to say to my people who listen to me,
- 26:43Speaker 1: who trust our voice in the morning, who tune in
- 26:46Speaker 1: to listen to us for information, inspiration, and entertainment. In
- 26:50Speaker 1: that vein of what people tune in, what would I
- 26:53Speaker 1: say to them the morning after a not guilty verdict,
- 26:58Speaker 1: when that other person that resides in me it's saying, okay,
- 27:04Speaker 1: all right, we tired of this now. I really don't
- 27:07Speaker 1: know how I would have been this morning any other way,
- 27:11Speaker 1: because I was struggling because the black man in me
- 27:16Speaker 1: is angry and been for a long time, you know,
- 27:22Speaker 1: just been mad for a long time. Now, I'm older
- 27:24Speaker 1: than everybody on this show. Listen to me. I've been
- 27:27Speaker 1: pissed off a long time, and I've had to suck
- 27:31Speaker 1: up a lot of stuff I didn't I didn't bid
- 27:33Speaker 1: a lot of stuff I didn't want to bite into,
- 27:36Speaker 1: just so I could keep moving forward. Then that I'm
- 27:40Speaker 1: just grateful this was di verdict right here, and because,
- 27:43Speaker 1: like you say, man, just as a black man, the
- 27:45Speaker 1: relief that now we okay, I'm okay, our life do
- 27:51Speaker 1: matter to somebody. Hey, man, what do you what do
- 27:54Speaker 1: you think police officers are thinking now? Those that are
- 27:58Speaker 1: still on the job, go ahead, and Jack, go ahead.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Now I see that they see Now. I feel that
- 28:05Speaker 1: if they see that, hey, you just can't kill a
- 28:08Speaker 1: black man to go home free, Cord. Now you see
- 28:12Speaker 1: that when black people show up, they're gonna show up
- 28:14Speaker 1: and they're gonna get what they want, you know, right,
- 28:17Speaker 1: You know what I think. I think that it's going
- 28:19Speaker 1: to cause a moment of pause. I think because now
- 28:24Speaker 1: and I do so much appreciate it. All the blacks
- 28:28Speaker 1: who fought for our freedoms since we since we first
- 28:32Speaker 1: landed him, the Nat Turners, the Frederick Douglass, the Harriet Tubmans,
- 28:38Speaker 1: the sojourn, the truths all all the way up through
- 28:42Speaker 1: the years man fighting for us to get that near
- 28:46Speaker 1: the protest that rolls of parks, modernim all the Civil
- 28:51Speaker 1: Rights Act, and the Black Lives Matter movement when it
- 28:55Speaker 1: started before. But now for the first time, the Black
- 29:00Speaker 1: Lives Matter movement had some help. Coming up next National
- 29:06Speaker 1: News right after this. You're listening to show. All right,
- 29:13Speaker 1: we're taking your phone calls all day today on the
- 29:16Speaker 1: Steve Harvey Morning Show. We want to know how you feel,
- 29:18Speaker 1: our listeners. We know you have something on your hearts
- 29:21Speaker 1: and on your mind to call us and let us know.
- 29:23Speaker 1: At age seven seven yeah, twenty nine, Steve, go ahead, Jay.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I want to thank y'all because and you all put
- 29:31Speaker 1: the voice out for the twenty twenty elections. I mean,
- 29:34Speaker 1: you all got people out the vote. I mean it
- 29:36Speaker 1: was you and our other syndicated morning shows, but you
- 29:40Speaker 1: all really helped push out the message to vote. And
- 29:42Speaker 1: I really really want to thank y'all so much for
- 29:45Speaker 1: that because we got we got age and forty five
- 29:47Speaker 1: out of the White House and now we see a
- 29:49Speaker 1: new day in Amrathith. So I just want to say
- 29:52Speaker 1: thank y'all so much. For that, and you're welcome to
- 29:54Speaker 1: because vote. It was a very concerted effort on the
- 29:58Speaker 1: Steve Harvard Morning Show. Are we made an effort and
- 30:01Speaker 1: the team put together a lot of work producing these
- 30:04Speaker 1: shows to make sure we got out to vote. And
- 30:06Speaker 1: then I'm gonna just be real with you. I got
- 30:08Speaker 1: on the phone with Ricky Smiley and Dale Hugley, who
- 30:12Speaker 1: are frat brothers, and I said, look, brothers, we got
- 30:15Speaker 1: to unite in this one right here, and they all agreed,
- 30:18Speaker 1: and so we got together and we turned out vote
- 30:21Speaker 1: like never before. And now we are voting block and
- 30:25Speaker 1: we'll never go back to not being a vote in block.
- 30:27Speaker 1: So Governor Kemp that passed this racist law, this voter
- 30:32Speaker 1: suppression act that he put together in Georgia, the next
- 30:35Speaker 1: time your name on the ballot, you gonna romish. No.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Thank you, Jay from Birmingham. We appreciate your call. All right,
- 30:47Speaker 1: let's go to Columbus, Ohio and talk to Monica. Steve Monica, Hi,
- 30:53Speaker 1: how are you? That's right? Well, thank you for having
- 31:00Speaker 1: me on here. I just was like everybody else watching
- 31:04Speaker 1: the verdict, and I was very pleased for what we saw.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I just think at the end of the day. Also,
- 31:12Speaker 1: there was no way to not find him guilty when
- 31:16Speaker 1: you actually watched the video over and over again being
- 31:20Speaker 1: a man put his knee on a black man's neck
- 31:25Speaker 1: for nine minutes and just have him like have the
- 31:29Speaker 1: life taken out of him. When the prosecutor had said
- 31:32Speaker 1: it was just as simple as a nine year old
- 31:35Speaker 1: understanding that. I mean, for me, that was it. There
- 31:39Speaker 1: was no way to, you know, get past that. I'm
- 31:43Speaker 1: very glad that, you know, his family found justice for
- 31:46Speaker 1: what happened to him. I also think that had he
- 31:50Speaker 1: had died in the police vehicle, I think the outcome
- 31:53Speaker 1: would have been a little bit different. I think they
- 31:56Speaker 1: would have found a way to skate rop um, you know,
- 32:01Speaker 1: guilty guilty sentence. So I think, like I said, at
- 32:05Speaker 1: the end of the day, what really got it was
- 32:07Speaker 1: like we watched that video over and over again of
- 32:10Speaker 1: a man getting his life taken away by the fourth
- 32:14Speaker 1: of a knee. Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, it was. It
- 32:20Speaker 1: was I hated that it had to happen, but it happened.
- 32:26Speaker 1: This brother did not die in vain, No he didn't.
- 32:30Speaker 1: He he left a mark, an incredible mark in the
- 32:36Speaker 1: history of this nation. Because I'm telling you man, I'm
- 32:40Speaker 1: sixty four years old. I ain't really seen this. A
- 32:45Speaker 1: police officer guilty on all counts right, murdering a black person.
- 32:54Speaker 1: It may have happened somewhere. I ain't seen it. I
- 33:00Speaker 1: thank you, Thank you, Monica, thank you eighty nine. Let's go, Steve,
- 33:07Speaker 1: all right, it's time for national news. Ladies and gentlemen.
- 33:10Speaker 1: Miss Anne trip okay, thank you, and let us go.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Forty five year old Derek Chauvin spent the night in
- 33:15Speaker 1: the Minneapolis lock up. His bail immediately revoked yesterday after
- 33:19Speaker 1: he officially became a killer cop. Count one unintentional second
- 33:23Speaker 1: degree murder while committing a felony guilty, Count two, third
- 33:27Speaker 1: degree murder, perpetrating and eminently dangerous act. Find the defendant
- 33:30Speaker 1: guilty Count three second degree manslaughter, culpable negligence creating an
- 33:35Speaker 1: unreasonable risk guilty yea. All the charges against him would
- 33:42Speaker 1: bring a total of seventy five years in prison if
- 33:44Speaker 1: the judge decided to slap the maximums on him and
- 33:47Speaker 1: let them run consecutively. However, since Chauvin has no criminal record,
- 33:51Speaker 1: he could also get away with serving only twelve years
- 33:54Speaker 1: behind bar. So we will see in the meantime, Show
- 33:56Speaker 1: was to be sentenced eight weeks from now. His lawyer
- 33:58Speaker 1: is most certainly going to attempt appeal. But as the
- 34:01Speaker 1: President says, George Floyd's murder last May twenty fifth spark
- 34:04Speaker 1: protests against racism and police were tied not just in
- 34:07Speaker 1: the US, but in cities all over the world. It
- 34:09Speaker 1: was a murder in full light of day and ripped
- 34:13Speaker 1: the blinders off for the whole world to see. To
- 34:16Speaker 1: found fear and trauma and black and brown Americans experienced
- 34:21Speaker 1: every single day, and such a verdict is much too rare.
- 34:26Speaker 1: In order to deliver real change and reform, we must
- 34:30Speaker 1: ensure the black and brown people are anyone don't fear
- 34:34Speaker 1: the interactions of law enforcement confronting head on systemic racism
- 34:40Speaker 1: and the racial disparities that existing policing and in our
- 34:44Speaker 1: criminal justice system. More broadly, and Vice President Harris was
- 34:48Speaker 1: still in the Congress, you may remember when George Floyd
- 34:50Speaker 1: was killed, and she co sponsored a special bill last summer,
- 34:54Speaker 1: together with Senator Corey Booker and Representative Karen bass I
- 34:58Speaker 1: introduced the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act. This film
- 35:02Speaker 1: would hold law enforcement accountable. The President and I will
- 35:06Speaker 1: continue to urge the Senate to pass this legislation. Black
- 35:11Speaker 1: Americans and black men in particular, have been treated throughout
- 35:15Speaker 1: the course of our history as less than human. Black
- 35:18Speaker 1: men are fathers and brothers and sons and uncles and grandfathers.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Their lives must be valued. And of course the case
- 35:29Speaker 1: is not over. There are three other fied Minneapolis cops
- 35:32Speaker 1: yet to go on trial for aiding and abetting Derek
- 35:34Speaker 1: chauven as he strangled George Floyd to death. Just through
- 35:36Speaker 1: a remind of folks about how rare this is. The
- 35:39Speaker 1: Minneapolis Police initially described George Floyd's death as a result
- 35:43Speaker 1: of a medical incident that took place during a police interaction.
- 35:46Speaker 1: There was no mention of a knee or anything. In fact,
- 35:49Speaker 1: the Minneapolis Police issued a press release right after that
- 35:52Speaker 1: stating that Floyd had physically resisted a rest and appeared
- 35:55Speaker 1: to be under the influence. Now back to Steve Harvey. Morning,
- 36:00Speaker 1: you're listening to show all right, we're talking to you,
- 36:05Speaker 1: our listeners. We want to hear what's on your mind.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Give us a call eight seven seven, twenty nine s
- 36:13Speaker 1: one day to be twenty nine, Timmy, But right nine
- 36:14Speaker 1: it's twenty nine. St y'all come on never all right,
- 36:21Speaker 1: See we're going to Chicago to talk to Carrie right now,
- 36:24Speaker 1: cal all right, Chicago V to v braby you you
- 36:32Speaker 1: know it's zvone O three what alright? But go ahead
- 36:40Speaker 1: talk to us. I just wanted to say I have
- 36:42Speaker 1: a feeling of relief but sadness today. I think about
- 36:47Speaker 1: my father, who was born in nineteen twenty nine Helena Arkansas, FIA.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Just comes to this country faithfully, what over seeds, hangs
- 36:57Speaker 1: out to the uns, nothing. And he told me during
- 37:00Speaker 1: my childhood that we would police could never be here.
- 37:04Speaker 1: All the quoted they were doing anything to black people ever,
- 37:08Speaker 1: and he this was so indoctrinated in him. He really
- 37:11Speaker 1: believed it. And he lived through Jim Carl He lives
- 37:15Speaker 1: through a whole lot, and sadly never got to see
- 37:19Speaker 1: this day. And I feel relieved. I hope he's looking
- 37:22Speaker 1: down saying, you know, they got him. But you know,
- 37:26Speaker 1: I also feel I feel sadness and mixed release. Yeah,
- 37:31Speaker 1: I mean, I agree with you. I know my father
- 37:34Speaker 1: told me so many things. I know my father cannot
- 37:38Speaker 1: believe today. Absolutely my father was gone. He couldn't believe
- 37:44Speaker 1: Barack Obama was president. You know why, I know he
- 37:48Speaker 1: couldn't believe it because I really didn't believe it. Absolutely.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I did not think in my lifetime
- 37:56Speaker 1: I would see a black man as the president of
- 38:00Speaker 1: the United States, any of us. I was stunned. And
- 38:04Speaker 1: it was one of the greatest gifts in politics that
- 38:08Speaker 1: God has given to us. And so now you know,
- 38:12Speaker 1: I do agree with you, and uh, well said, and
- 38:15Speaker 1: you know, we got a lot to do, but I
- 38:17Speaker 1: think that we're going to remain a voting block power
- 38:20Speaker 1: because there there they got mad about Georgia becoming blue
- 38:26Speaker 1: and Texas almost flipping and feeling and all of that.
- 38:30Speaker 1: So now they're actually coming up with voter suppression laws.
- 38:37Speaker 1: What Georgia was blatant racism in your face. We locked
- 38:43Speaker 1: the door, we signed a hundred pieces of paper and
- 38:46Speaker 1: nothing you can do about it. Wow, yep, you know
- 38:50Speaker 1: it's sad, but they're to we do. Thank you so much.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Just all right, we'll be back with more of your
- 39:05Speaker 1: calls at eight seven, seven twenty nine, Steve right after
- 39:08Speaker 1: this you're listening to all right, So it is the
- 39:14Speaker 1: day after Steve, the day after the Derek Schaubin verdict. Um.
- 39:19Speaker 1: President spoke yesterday, Um, before the verdict. He was saying
- 39:24Speaker 1: he was hoping for the right verdict. The Vice president
- 39:27Speaker 1: when he talked to the family, talked to the family
- 39:31Speaker 1: before and after. Yeah he did. Yeah, Yeah, compassionate, empathetic
- 39:36Speaker 1: president that we have. Now. Vice President Harris spoke as well,
- 39:42Speaker 1: and we want to hear what you think, our audience.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Please give us a call at eight seven seven twenty nine, Steve,
- 39:48Speaker 1: let us know how you feel. This is the day
- 39:50Speaker 1: after the Derek Schauvin verdict. Let's go to the good. Um.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I think this is the Reverend Steve, doctor Curry, if
- 39:59Speaker 1: I had his name correct, Doctor Curry, Carolina. Yes, I'm here,
- 40:05Speaker 1: Chief Apostle, Doctor Kerry, and God bless you all. You know.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I just thank God for you guys. And as I
- 40:14Speaker 1: was telling gentle before I got on that we are
- 40:17Speaker 1: here in the state of North Carolina, we are working
- 40:20Speaker 1: with agencies here, civil rights agencies to prepare for the
- 40:27Speaker 1: next battle that's going to come. I believe this state
- 40:30Speaker 1: is going to be one of the big battle grounds
- 40:32Speaker 1: because they're already after this statement that God, we have
- 40:36Speaker 1: a democratic governor that has tried to cover us doing
- 40:41Speaker 1: all these things that are going on. But what we
- 40:44Speaker 1: have to realize now that we have lost so many
- 40:47Speaker 1: of our great peers. We've lost the John Lewis's, we've
- 40:52Speaker 1: lost the ct Vivians, and we have to begin replenishing
- 40:58Speaker 1: the ranks because as I was just listening to you
- 41:03Speaker 1: with even with this happening, they're setting the next space
- 41:06Speaker 1: for what they want to do, and so we have
- 41:09Speaker 1: to be indeed ready for that as well. We have
- 41:12Speaker 1: to prepare our minds. And thank god, we had a
- 41:16Speaker 1: coalition of intelligent people that presented the case that needed
- 41:20Speaker 1: to be presented in the right way, and no matter
- 41:23Speaker 1: what they said, they could not get out of the
- 41:26Speaker 1: eye of the public. Well, when you had people like
- 41:30Speaker 1: Immatial and all of them, they could hide what they
- 41:33Speaker 1: had done. But you know, because of social media and
- 41:37Speaker 1: because of the attention that you guys put on it
- 41:40Speaker 1: and all the people that put it in not only
- 41:44Speaker 1: America space, but the whole world saw it. If they
- 41:47Speaker 1: had brought out any other verdict in what they did,
- 41:51Speaker 1: then it was shown this country as a totally unjust country.
- 41:57Speaker 1: We're working along with other agencies stout to Stacy Abrams
- 42:02Speaker 1: and some of the others because we know that this
- 42:04Speaker 1: state is going to be one that they're really looking at.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I think they said, uh, one of the Trumps was
- 42:10Speaker 1: trying to come in and take the place of our
- 42:13Speaker 1: governor here. So we're going to make sure that we
- 42:17Speaker 1: get the people active and you know, motivated to get
- 42:21Speaker 1: out and vote and do what we need to do
- 42:23Speaker 1: to continue or what George Floyd died for. He died
- 42:28Speaker 1: for to come back. The injustice that was going on
- 42:31Speaker 1: in doctor keeps you know, in justice anywhere, you know,
- 42:37Speaker 1: is injustice everywhere. So that's what we keep in mind
- 42:42Speaker 1: as we move forward. And like I said, I listen
- 42:45Speaker 1: to you guys all the time, and uh definitely want
- 42:47Speaker 1: to partner with other people. Uh, you know, hopefully after show,
- 42:52Speaker 1: you guys can reach out to us. I'm on the
- 42:55Speaker 1: Facebook page and all of that. Chief Apostle, Doctor Kenneth Curry,
- 43:00Speaker 1: And like I said, we worked very hard. Um one
- 43:04Speaker 1: of the recipients of two Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards, So
- 43:09Speaker 1: I worked very hard to work within the community. I'm
- 43:13Speaker 1: a retired disabled military veteran, but I still defend the
- 43:19Speaker 1: constitution of this country and that's we have people. Wow,
- 43:24Speaker 1: you know Uh, sir, we appreciate all your work too,
- 43:27Speaker 1: because it's the foot soldiers that can be of the
- 43:30Speaker 1: most that get the most work done. You know. We
- 43:34Speaker 1: we on that absolutely. You know. You know, look, we
- 43:37Speaker 1: drop our bombs from the air. We were in an airplane,
- 43:40Speaker 1: were flying over and we drop bombs. Would be very effective.
- 43:45Speaker 1: But you foot soldiers out there are the true champions
- 43:47Speaker 1: of justice, and we appreciate everything they're trying to protect,
- 43:52Speaker 1: the white privilege and the white supremacists what they're trying to.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Thank you, sir. Hey, y'all will be right back with
- 44:04Speaker 1: more calls on Steve Harvey morning shows. You're listening to
- 44:07Speaker 1: stow all right. Here we are on this day after
- 44:13Speaker 1: this historic day. This was a historic trial, um. And
- 44:20Speaker 1: the Derek Chauvin verdict is in. He was found guilty
- 44:23Speaker 1: on all three counts, all three. You got to do
- 44:28Speaker 1: some time. When you don't we you don't get clear
- 44:30Speaker 1: none of the charge. And the verdict came back in
- 44:33Speaker 1: the time where it didn't let us know, we felt
- 44:35Speaker 1: that like wow, this was what we ain't in here
- 44:38Speaker 1: talking about that nine I was told the foe. I
- 44:40Speaker 1: was the first day. Five the next day. I think
- 44:43Speaker 1: they were just in the eating some doing us and
- 44:45Speaker 1: stuff in the morning. You know, well they had already
- 44:48Speaker 1: decided to see I hope that's another case. I hope. Yeah,
- 44:52Speaker 1: really did look at the evidence and no they did.
- 44:55Speaker 1: We saw it. There was all we don't even had
- 44:56Speaker 1: to do this. Yeah, they thought. We're taking phone calls
- 45:00Speaker 1: today from our audience at eight seven seven twenty nine, Steve,
- 45:03Speaker 1: let's go to the phone. We're going to Riverdale, Georgian
- 45:06Speaker 1: now and talking to Sean. Hey, how you gans doing.
- 45:14Speaker 1: So it's an un first a lot to speak with you,
- 45:17Speaker 1: actually speak to you in real life, in your voice,
- 45:20Speaker 1: for real man. I love your show man. You guys
- 45:23Speaker 1: have been doing great work. I love you guys. And
- 45:26Speaker 1: when you come on the morning time you speak, you say,
- 45:29Speaker 1: ain't spiritually that I really needed to hear. But um,
- 45:34Speaker 1: now on this case, I want to talk to you
- 45:36Speaker 1: about which is very important and it shows the war
- 45:41Speaker 1: that americally is making that change from doctor King said
- 45:45Speaker 1: once before, I may not get there with you, but
- 45:48Speaker 1: we will get there as some people. And today it's
- 45:52Speaker 1: one of them days that pum, we are getting there.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Blacks and whites and other nations are coming together, and
- 45:59Speaker 1: we are coming together as one in this country, and
- 46:02Speaker 1: we are going to make it. We are going to
- 46:06Speaker 1: do whatever it takes to be well. We need to
- 46:09Speaker 1: be exactly I think said. And you know something, man,
- 46:15Speaker 1: this I'm telling you man. I had a conversation with
- 46:19Speaker 1: a woman here who was in the royal family of
- 46:23Speaker 1: one of the countries here now, and obviously she watches
- 46:29Speaker 1: Fox News. She was a huge Trump supporter. I was
- 46:32Speaker 1: stunned listening to this woman talk. I was stunned how
- 46:37Speaker 1: great Donald Trump was. And then she actually told me
- 46:43Speaker 1: you are Hollywood type. All of you feel the same way.
- 46:46Speaker 1: I'm a Hollywood type. First of all, you don't know me,
- 46:51Speaker 1: You really really don't that. I'm the last person that's
- 46:55Speaker 1: the Hollywood. And then she went to talk about how
- 46:59Speaker 1: reverl Lations changed the world and Donald Trump was sent
- 47:03Speaker 1: by God, and I went what Donald Trump was sent
- 47:08Speaker 1: by God? And this one was just going on and on,
- 47:12Speaker 1: and it's just so many people, man, who think see
- 47:17Speaker 1: what Donald Trump said. I want you all to listen
- 47:19Speaker 1: to what his whole campaign was, make America great again.
- 47:26Speaker 1: So what that meant was they didn't like the condition
- 47:29Speaker 1: it was in now, so we're gonna take it back
- 47:31Speaker 1: to a period of time where it was better for who?
- 47:36Speaker 1: When has it ever been better for black people? And
- 47:40Speaker 1: that rolls up all these white supremacist groups. They came
- 47:43Speaker 1: out of nowhere. That's the reason the Capitol Building was stormed.
- 47:48Speaker 1: That's the reason they drove through the crowd and killed
- 47:51Speaker 1: people in cause because he gave them the power. They
- 47:57Speaker 1: actually felt like they had a man in the White
- 48:00Speaker 1: House that ain't God ain't sent him. God's people don't
- 48:04Speaker 1: hold bibles upside down and look at it and not
- 48:07Speaker 1: even boy, what right? God's people have some stories of
- 48:13Speaker 1: going to church. You've seen Donald Trump in one church
- 48:17Speaker 1: that was at Bush's funeral. Ain't no photo of him.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Look uncomfortable, man, Please, there's no wind about his head. Man,
- 48:26Speaker 1: he ain't praying and nothing. So, you know, we got
- 48:30Speaker 1: work to do, but we are. I think there's a
- 48:33Speaker 1: beginning here. I think there's a change. Thank you, thank you,
- 48:39Speaker 1: thank you. All right, um, let's go to Lakewood, California.
- 48:45Speaker 1: We're going to talk to Katherine Steve. Hey, Catherine, this
- 48:50Speaker 1: is Katherine's husband John. He asked me to pick up
- 48:53Speaker 1: the phone for her. She's kind of shiye, but okay,
- 48:58Speaker 1: I'm I'm Olsen age to Steve. We're born the same year,
- 49:02Speaker 1: fifty seven, and I've got a lot of respect for
- 49:06Speaker 1: you and a big fan. And I've been just trying
- 49:09Speaker 1: to compose myself and get white Weight teers the wire
- 49:14Speaker 1: weight tears for the PAS ten fifteen minutes here. But
- 49:20Speaker 1: I think I'm composing enough to speak now. I really
- 49:25Speaker 1: m bomb did with some of the brave people that
- 49:30Speaker 1: testified at the trial, particularly the young lady firefighter, because
- 49:37Speaker 1: I'm a retired African American firefighters out here in the
- 49:40Speaker 1: West Coast, and I just thought the people were so
- 49:45Speaker 1: brave and courageous to get up there and speak their
- 49:49Speaker 1: truth to this matter. And I'm I'm also very much
- 49:55Speaker 1: encouraged by the State District Attorney of Minnesota, mister Ellison,
- 50:01Speaker 1: and here I just watched his press conference. So the whole,
- 50:06Speaker 1: this whole thing is today's victory. But I know that
- 50:10Speaker 1: we have a lot of work ahead of us in
- 50:12Speaker 1: the future, and the struggle will continue, probably for the
- 50:16Speaker 1: rest of our lives, unfortunately, and even to our grand
- 50:19Speaker 1: to the lives of our grandkids. But I just I
- 50:23Speaker 1: don't want to take up too much of your time.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I just wanted to make a few comments. Thank you, brother,
- 50:28Speaker 1: and I appreciate you. You know, one of the things
- 50:30Speaker 1: that I noticed in this trial that I hadn't really
- 50:33Speaker 1: seen before what normally happens, guys, is that prosecutors are
- 50:39Speaker 1: often in bed with the local police department. In this case,
- 50:46Speaker 1: I was really amazed at how the prosecutors were dad
- 50:50Speaker 1: sent on doing the right thing for the people. See
- 50:55Speaker 1: see when you go see when you go to state
- 50:59Speaker 1: verse sis. When you say that, you gotta understand that
- 51:05Speaker 1: you're talking about the paid representatives and the electric representatives
- 51:11Speaker 1: that we put in place are gonna fight for the
- 51:15Speaker 1: state against to prosecute somebody else. Wait a minute, man,
- 51:19Speaker 1: They're usually in bed, especially with the police department. That's
- 51:22Speaker 1: why grand juries don't ever ever bring them up for trial,
- 51:28Speaker 1: because the prosecutors go in there and they present something
- 51:32Speaker 1: to the twelve voting people who are the grand jury,
- 51:35Speaker 1: and they give such a vague thing and they say, well,
- 51:38Speaker 1: we don't really think we have enough to prosecute, and
- 51:40Speaker 1: the grand jury finds no cause to bring forth a trial.
- 51:44Speaker 1: That didn't happen in this case. So if we can
- 51:47Speaker 1: get more prosecutors who are not in bed with local police,
- 51:52Speaker 1: that's going to change things. And I think this also.
- 51:55Speaker 1: Let me tell you something else too, because these prosecutors
- 51:59Speaker 1: are gonna be ours now, and people love power and position,
- 52:04Speaker 1: and other prosecutors are gonna go Wow, I get a
- 52:07Speaker 1: case like this, I'm gonna do something that gets the
- 52:10Speaker 1: adelation of the nation too, and I'll be a star.
- 52:13Speaker 1: I'm telling you, man, something's going on here. That's my
- 52:16Speaker 1: comment about. Yeah. But hey man, thank you very much, man,
- 52:22Speaker 1: and you and your wife man pull it together. I
- 52:24Speaker 1: understand where you're coming from because we've been me and
- 52:27Speaker 1: you fifty seven brothers. We've been around here wild and
- 52:31Speaker 1: that's right. And you know, man, And I'm gonna tell
- 52:33Speaker 1: you something. Hey, doc, we're sick and tired, do you
- 52:37Speaker 1: nineteen fifty seven? You know the bullcrap we don't seen. Yeah,
- 52:42Speaker 1: we're tired of all this here. Man, We're sick and
- 52:45Speaker 1: tired of this and it's about time technically as late
- 52:49Speaker 1: as hell, but we'll take it though. Yeah. Yeah, we
- 52:55Speaker 1: got our help and we're around to see it happen.
- 52:58Speaker 1: And yeah, we both got a lot of left in us,
- 53:01Speaker 1: a lot of dog man. Appreciate your brother, Thank you, man. Yeah,
- 53:09Speaker 1: all right, y'all sit tight, we'll be back with more
- 53:11Speaker 1: calls on the Steve Harvey Morning Show. You're listening to show.
- 53:17Speaker 1: All right, here we go. This is the day after.
- 53:21Speaker 1: This is such a historic day. I mean, everybody was waiting, waiting, waiting.
- 53:25Speaker 1: What would the verdict be? What would the verdict be?
- 53:28Speaker 1: Please let it be guilty, you know, please. This is
- 53:31Speaker 1: the Derek Chauvin verdict um the day after. Okay, he
- 53:37Speaker 1: was found guilty on all three charges. In case you
- 53:39Speaker 1: don't know that by now, I'm sick of asking you
- 53:44Speaker 1: to treat me the same way you treat each other.
- 53:48Speaker 1: How about this right here? I don't want to ask
- 53:50Speaker 1: you that. Just leave us alone though, yes, hello, hello, good.
- 53:56Speaker 1: If you're not gonna treat us equal or the same,
- 53:59Speaker 1: how about this, just leave us alone. Yes, sir, we'll
- 54:02Speaker 1: make it, We'll we'll be fine. Okay, we've made it
- 54:05Speaker 1: all this time. We'll be fine. Just stop killing us
- 54:09Speaker 1: yes stop, yeah, yeah, stop all yeah, yeah, I like it.
- 54:15Speaker 1: I like that, Steve. Leave us alone. Yeah, just leave
- 54:18Speaker 1: us alone. Okay, all right, but we don't want you,
- 54:21Speaker 1: our audience, to leave us alone. We want to hear
- 54:23Speaker 1: from you. Eight seven seven twenty nine. Steve to the phones,
- 54:27Speaker 1: we go, Oh, who is it, Shirley. Let's just go
- 54:29Speaker 1: to the phones and see who's there. Then someone's there, Hello, Steve,
- 54:33Speaker 1: every morning show. Hello, who's hi? Who's this? Who need them?
- 54:44Speaker 1: How are you today? I am blessed. I am truly blessed. Well,
- 54:50Speaker 1: go ahead. I am so grateful because as I watched it,
- 54:57Speaker 1: and I'm trying not to watch it, but I had
- 55:00Speaker 1: to because I have sons, I have grandsons, I have uncles,
- 55:07Speaker 1: and I have nephew, so I really had to watch it.
- 55:12Speaker 1: And I was praying with my hand. My hand was
- 55:15Speaker 1: exactly all my Trump business, and I had to cry.
- 55:20Speaker 1: And I am so grateful. This should make an example
- 55:24Speaker 1: out of him because they need to know that the
- 55:29Speaker 1: Lord is the Lord, and I respect that. But you
- 55:32Speaker 1: can't assume you have to hurt people because you think
- 55:37Speaker 1: they're going wrong. It's a process and what he did
- 55:42Speaker 1: was in a process. So I thank God for that verdict.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Thank you very much, appreciate the call of you. Thank you,
- 55:51Speaker 1: thank you. When y'all have a black day, thank you
- 55:53Speaker 1: so much. All right, Felicia in Middletown, Delaware. Steve, We're
- 55:58Speaker 1: going straight to Felicia. Alicia. Yes, these yes, yes, yes,
- 56:03Speaker 1: how are we on there? Listen? I am so happy
- 56:10Speaker 1: about right now. This gives me hope. This really gives
- 56:14Speaker 1: me hope that my son, my nineteen year old son,
- 56:19Speaker 1: and my thirteen year old grandson is going to be
- 56:24Speaker 1: able to live their lives in this world. This gives
- 56:29Speaker 1: me so much hope, so much hope. It is just
- 56:33Speaker 1: wonderful that we now have this verdict to let everybody
- 56:40Speaker 1: know that black lives matters, all black lives matter, that
- 56:48Speaker 1: we are all humans. And I just thank everyone, everyone,
- 56:54Speaker 1: everyone who had anything to do with this, this guilty
- 56:59Speaker 1: verdict here. I just want to just bless them, and
- 57:03Speaker 1: it just gives me hope. It gives me hope. It
- 57:08Speaker 1: will make me be able to sleep at night a
- 57:11Speaker 1: little bit better knowing that my son and my grandson
- 57:17Speaker 1: don't have to look over their shoulders when they're just
- 57:21Speaker 1: outside it. Yeah, or I understand what you said. It
- 57:27Speaker 1: does give us hope. But now also at the same time,
- 57:32Speaker 1: we still have to be vigilant, We still have to
- 57:36Speaker 1: be aware of blatant racism because it's not going away
- 57:41Speaker 1: over this one. There is now going to be other
- 57:46Speaker 1: ways that they will try it. You know, a man
- 57:50Speaker 1: when you're dealing with evil people. You got to watch them. Man.
- 57:54Speaker 1: They they they strongly hateful people. Man, they don't they
- 57:59Speaker 1: don't die easy. So still stay watchful. Men, women, young people,
- 58:06Speaker 1: watch where you go, watch how you are, because everybody
- 58:11Speaker 1: ain't gonna believe fat meat, greasy. I agree, it's some
- 58:15Speaker 1: some it's some police officers going Okay, well i'm gonna
- 58:18Speaker 1: cut the body cam off. Okay, well i'll tell you what.
- 58:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna do it this way. Yeah, I'll tell you what.
- 58:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna get you on the cuffs. I'm gonna get
- 58:29Speaker 1: you back back at the station, and then we're gonna
- 58:31Speaker 1: see it's it's it's some evil people once again, not
- 58:35Speaker 1: all ye, but it's some evil people out there, and
- 58:37Speaker 1: so we just gotta stay with you. I agree with you,
- 58:41Speaker 1: and thank you for that. Thank you for that. You know,
- 58:44Speaker 1: we just just just right now, just living in this moment.
- 58:48Speaker 1: It's just it gives us some relief. But I totally
- 58:51Speaker 1: understand what you're saying. This is not to stop me
- 58:54Speaker 1: from telling my son and my grandson to just be careful.
- 58:59Speaker 1: So death not that, but this gives me this, This
- 59:03Speaker 1: gives me hope. It all we got to do is
- 59:07Speaker 1: convict some mote h when you do wrong, and we
- 59:11Speaker 1: got you, you got to paid. And once we get
- 59:14Speaker 1: some motor paid, then I think, I think if we
- 59:16Speaker 1: can begin the process. But I think for a lot
- 59:19Speaker 1: of us, we needed to see this guilty please. Yeah,
- 59:23Speaker 1: well I mean, I mean not please. We had to
- 59:25Speaker 1: see this guilty verdict because this, anything else would have
- 59:28Speaker 1: been a disaster. Yeah, I know it would have because
- 59:32Speaker 1: I didn't know what I was going to do. And
- 59:34Speaker 1: I'm supposed to have good sense, so I'm supposed to
- 59:41Speaker 1: I'm supposed to know better. I'm old, I'm sixty four,
- 59:44Speaker 1: I'm I ain't supposed to be having these thoughts, but
- 59:46Speaker 1: they was in my head. So I know young people
- 59:49Speaker 1: out there, the young lions, if they think like I'm thinking,
- 59:52Speaker 1: they're gonna do something to you. Yes, and I'm glad
- 59:55Speaker 1: we didn't have to. So thank you very much, appreciate
- 59:58Speaker 1: your calling. Thank you, bless you guys, be saved. Thank
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: you too, and we'll be back again. Y'all, y'all stay
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: with us. This is a great day. We're talking to
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: the people. We got more right after this. You're listening
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: to show the day after the Derek Chauvin verdict guilty
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: on all three charges. We were talking to you our
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: audience at eight seven seven twenty nine, Steve, all right,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: let's go back to Chicago and talk to Carmela. Steve, Carmela.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: We in Chicago. Carmela, Hi, listen, Harvey and Shirley Strawberry.
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: We are here. Hello, how you know it? We're doing good.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: What's your comment today? My comment today is, I'm so
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: relieved that the jury made the right decision. It's about times,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: it really is. Um. I was listening to you earlier.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: I don't know what I would have done if it
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: had gone the opposite direction. I really don't. That's been
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: my whole struggle. That's been a morning show struggle because
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: we've been talking about this verdict, you know, because I'm
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: way over in Africa. When it comes down, Steve, Steve,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: will you be able to be on the air, and
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: you know, fortunate the timing of it all, I am,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: But we were all trying to figure out the five
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: of us. How do we present this to our listeners
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: if there's a not guilty verdict? And can I tell
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: you something? We don't come up with nothing. I know nothing.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I've been searching it my soul too, that if the
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: verdict was not the right verdict, like what do I
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: believe anymore? You know, my whole thought process just everything.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: So yeah, because not guilty would have said, I know
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: you saw this tape, right, but we don't care. Yeah,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: y'all black and that's it you did. It would have
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: given us a finger and you know, a finger that
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: would happened. Oh yeah, it would have given us a finger.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: But I'm gonna tell you something though. It wouldn't have
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: been good, right, But we was gonna be passing out
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: some fingers too though. And see that's that's that's the
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: part that I keep trying to I pray about it
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: a little bit, but every time I pray about it,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: I get mad because I'm telling you what, we're struggling.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: The five of us were really trying to figure out
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: if this is not Carlin, Shirley, Junior, Tommy were singing,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: and we had nothing. We had nothing, so we're gonna
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: be mad too. And then I was just trying to
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: stay over here in Africa and finish my job so
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I didn't fly back and get some matches, you know,
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: That's all. I was just trying to you don't have
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: to say everything I was going to. I didn't. I didn't.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I didn't. I didn't really mean matches. I mean, you
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: don't like to just match up some people, you know,
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: people to sit down and talk, you know, match people
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: up with each other to talk. I was just trying
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: to get some matches to see if we can find
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: some people people. See what would you have been able
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: to say to the people in Africa? What country are
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: you in right now? I'm in Johannesburg. They don't understand this,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: you know what they keep saying. They just got a
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: got rid of apartheid just some years ago. Apartei just
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: ended in ninety six. So Ray sitting up going what
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: is going on in America? We thought America was great?
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: And I've been on stage telling them, yeah, but they're
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: killing us though for us man Steve y'all making so
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: much money over there, but they're killing us. They're killing them.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: They're killing us physically, psychologically, spiritually, like our souls are
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: just freed. Like it's exhausting. And when you go back
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: and you think about like your experiences and where you
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: are now, it's not a grateful God. Yes, yes, that
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: you're here and your mind is here. You know, it's
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: just surely purely by the grateful God. I mean it's
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: everything that everything, yes, absolutely, and to come out with
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: your mind being somewhat okay, you know. And look, we
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: have to feel this way and still get up, go
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: to work, still dress our kids for school, still try
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: to find a way to be successful in this. Still
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: drive our car even though we know we could get
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: pulled over and it could be our turn. We still
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: manage to get up and function anyway. We are such
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: a great people. They're in life. The problem still right
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: there because we are man yeah yeah yeah. And the women,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the black women are not safe either. And for me
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: to see my brothers go through what they go through,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: it affects me absolutely. Hell. You know why because black women,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: y'all made all us, every black boy, every black man
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: that died, a black woman made them, as some woman
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: somewhere produced this life. Many please and you down in
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: the struggle and take care of you when you've been
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: beat up. We have to deal with that. And that's
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: a lot to deal with. Who wants to see their
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: man or their father or their husband come home day
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: after day. I know that struggle. I feel it I understand.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I get it. I'm not a man. I feel you.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: I got you, brother, you better tell it. You know,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: agregated city, and I know it is. At any given time,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: it could jump off, and so I'm already prepared, you know.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: And that's a horrible way to live when I think
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: about it, but it is what it is. Yeah right,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: thank you so much for everything you do. Thank you.
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: I really appreciate it. All right, we appreciate you too, Carmelo,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you. Stay woke. We'll be
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: back at forty six minutes after the hour. You're listening
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: to show. We've been talking to our audience all day.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: This is the day after the Derek Chauvin verdict. The
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: trial has ended. He is in handcuffs and on his
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: way to jail. Are we still about to take more calls?
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we're definitely taking all calls all morning. Eighty good.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Can I jump in and say so to the people
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: that's that might call uh? And I know we're on
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: a serious note today, but a lot of y'all I'm
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: noticing or stepping out of here, out of out of
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: your bounds. Once again. Steve Harby is my uncle. He
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: knocked y'alls, we're calling him and calling him unc this.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: You don't even call your own uncle, you know what
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: I mean? So so why calling here claiming, man, you
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: didn't great? Wait wait, let me just say it. You
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: didn't get the uncle you won't it all. You didn't
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: get the one you want it that that has nothing
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: to do with him at all. Whatsoever? I lucked up
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and got the one I want it. You didn't get that.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Go back to your uncle and try to work something
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: out with your uncle. Try to make your uncle a
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: good uncle. But quick calling in here, Hey uncle Steve,
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: he knocked your damn. I'm I'm sorry he knocked your uncle. Okay,
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: get on back to Tommy. Everything that's going on today,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: we as a people were coming together and full of
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: calling in and you mad at them saying, hey, uncle
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: se I would have a uncle March if I need
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: to play with people. Do I hear you laughing? I
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: know I do. I see you, Uncle March, you're gonna
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: calle told y'all you remember back in LA when we hired.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: I told ya, I said, I don't really feel good
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: about this. Yes for my sister, call me. I don't
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: feel good about it. I know, I know, oh man,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: you know he got better over the years, you know,
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: and I know we just took a moment, just a
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: little bit of levity, like the mood a little bit.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: But Tommy was way worse, folks. He used to didn't
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: come to work on time, sometimes he missed it all.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: You know, just all how is this about day? Though? Well,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: you know, let's just give him that a little last moment.
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: It wasn't this this then start out about me calling
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: this what these people calling in you calling him uncle Steve,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Uncle Steve. That's my problem calling him and say hello,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: miss Steve Harvey. I'd like to make my comment on
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: the situation. That's fine, But coming in here claiming to
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: be family, that's what we're not. You know, you're not
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: gonna do this. You're not gonna take this moment and
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: try to slide up on into the family. You're not
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: that man. That's crazy. When my uncle going through, when
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: my uncle going through somewhere to hear y'all that theme,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: where y'all at what this all right? Look, we're taking
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: phone calls all morning, eight seven, seven, twenty nine. Steve,
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: call us, we'll be right back. Don't say uncle, you're
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: listening to show. All right, Steve, here we are, last
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: hour of the show. It's been a good day so far.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: People are just calling. Yeah, how they feel off their chests?
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I mean people, you know, feel some kind of way
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: as they should. I mean, we've been going through this
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: for a long time now. And this is the day
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: after the Derek Chauvin verdict. He was found guilty on
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: all three charges. And we want to hear from you. Yeah,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: thank god, you know. I like something we mentioned the
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: President and Vice president we're speaking. I like something Vice
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: President Joe Biden said. He says systemic racism is a
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: stain on our nation's soul. Yes, we couldn't agree more.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: And yes, how do we speak the president? When is
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: it going away? Get something to wipe the stain away,
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: you know, because we're sick of it. Yes, eight seven seven,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: twenty nine, Steve, if you want to talk to us
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: this morning, let's go to the phone. Steve Delaware. It's Lakeisha, Steve, Lakisha, Lakeisha. Yes,
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: I'm here. Hi, everybody. You own to Steve Harvey more
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: on to show. Where should comment? Um lord, I just
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: want to say that seeing the verdict today gave me
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: hope UM. Sadly, my brother was taken away by Newcaster
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: County Police officers UM on January thirteen, twenty one. So
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: just then that George Floyd family is finally getting the
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: justice that they that they've been loaning forum, it's a
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: blessing and I'm just hopeful and I'm prayerful that my
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: family and I will be able to have this same
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: justice soon. I see the same trend the same trends
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: in all of these type of cases where these officers
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: are trying to get people to look away from or
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: not pay attention to what we see clearlyc on video
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: and let's focus on. Let's big up this person's criminal background,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: let's dig up the twenty dollars deal, let's pick up
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: miscellaneous stuff that has nothing to do with the heinous
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: act that we are seeing by these people who are
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: supposed to be protecting and service. Yeah. I'm just here.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: I'm just calling on to say I'm so grateful for
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: the justice for George Floyd, and I pray for justice
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: for all anybody who's going through the same tragedy rights
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: as George Floyd's family and my family for the justice
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: that we're seeking from my brother Lamar modes, well, sister,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: because you know, I mean this is see. I want
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: people to understand. Now, this sister got it firsthand. Her
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: brother was taking it at the hands of the police officer.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: Do you know how many stories that are like this
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: see and um, you know the this this trial represents
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: for so many people some type of justice type of Okay, wow,
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: somebody because I haven't seen this man. This is so
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: crazy here man that we and there's nothing for him.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: It's just this country right here. We have got to
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: establish new laws for police officers that they are under
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: the same guidelines as us. See, we came you to
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: uphold the law, and then you turn around and break
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: the same damn law we're paying you to overhold. And
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: then you can commit the same crime we commit and
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: we have to do time and you get to go home.
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: We pay no, no, no, no. That has to end.
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: And we got to see his signals. But I'm telling you, man,
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: these prosecutors are going to become stars, and other prosecutors
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: are going to want the adamation of America that these
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: prosecutors are gonna get. And I'm telling you but now
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: at the same time, we got to get real ready,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: we got to get real ready, y'all, because they are
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: in these back rooms trying to figure out a way
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: to stop this from happening again to one of their officers.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: And I'm not talking about policeman. I'm talking about the system,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: because police brutality is a way that it's been designed
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: to keep a thumb and a knee on the neck
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: of a certain community and a culture for a long time.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: It's just the clue Klux Klan with a blue suit on.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: All right, stay with us, y'all. We'll be back. We're
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: taking calls all morning. You're listening, all right, Come on, Steve,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: we can get a call in here. Call or two.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: Let's go to the phone seven seven twenty nine, Steve Admetris, Hi,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: how are you all? Tell me your name? Okay? Good?
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: What's your comment? I haven't had a chance to, you know.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: Every time then came on of the police officer on
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: George Boards. Need that on George Boards neck. I never
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: had attemp. I never wanted to look at it. I
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: never you know, I always turned the down up because
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: it was so overwhelmed me. But when they verdict came
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: in today, I mean I just cried. He talked, I
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: thought about my son, my husband, my nephews, my brother.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: I thought about all of them on the ground, and
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: so when when their guilty verdict came in, I just
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: I just cried. I just crashed because I said, finally,
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: it's finally something, it's happening. And with me, it's like
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: a win sport because my brother is a police and
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: my daughter is a police and I know that they
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: are great policeman and I know that my daughter helped,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: help caused a homeless help he give everybody's break. My brother,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: he even arrested, bad talk. And so just to be
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: in this position and just to see justice done, and
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: I'm just overwhelm about everything. That's a beautiful thing because,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: like I say, the majority of police officers are fine people.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: But you know it's too many damn bad apples. All
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: let's leave it right. There were taken some more calls,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: y'all appreciate y'all call at eight seven seven, twenty ninety
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: you're listening to show all right, we've been taking calls,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: your phone calls all morning about this Derek Chauvin verdict.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Like Steve said, I mean, we appreciate you so much.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: You're listening to us and and this is your turn
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: today to call and let us know how you feel.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Chauvin was found guilty on all three charges for the
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: murder of George Floyd. Uh yeah, yeah, for the Floyd
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: family and just you know, maybe this can be the
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: beginning of something, you know. I hope. So, I really
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: really do, I really do know. More of this, stop
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: killing us, no more of this. All right, we're taking
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: calls eight seven seven twenty nine s. Let's go to
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: New York. Talk to Victoria, New York, New York. Victoria,
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: how are you. I'm blessed. I am happy, Steve, I
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: am rejoicing. My heart is singing. Thank God that that
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: could have been my son, my grandson, my husband, my nephew.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: This is a small step, but thank God for a
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: cell phone, thank God for a videotape, that that young
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: lady sit there and take all nine minutes and twenty
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: nine seconds. I thank god that I got a chance
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: today to see this officer handcuffed and walk out of
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: that court room. I thank god this afternoon or this morning,
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: I thank god. I do, and I thank you for
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: giving us this opportunity to say just how it's on
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: our heart. We're feeling if we're happy but we're sad.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: It's like it's a dichotomy. You're happy, but you're sad.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: But I thank god I got a chance to see
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: this man walk out of the courtroom and handcuffs. I
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: thank you for this opportunity, have a blessed morning. This
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: is a glorious clout. We needed your phone call. I
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: ain't even gonna say nothing behind it. Thank you. You know, man,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: some sometimes you need some uplift, you know, because you
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: know it's a happy side moment. But man, you know,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: and then people, well you know, we still got a
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: long way to go. I said, but guess what, at
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: least today today, for this brief moment, we ellective victory
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: as people. And there are a lot of people, man,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: we can thank for this. Like she said, that woman
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: is said up to inhale that camera for the entire video.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: That wasn't a cops camera. Darnella Frasier. She was seventeen
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: years old the whole time, seven ten years old, Darnell,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: and that all the times I tell my kids get
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: off him, damn phones exactly. Thank you, yes, thank you.
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: But see they record everything, and what she recorded was
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: the perfect video. Three did she changed? Yeah, thank you,
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: you're welcome, right, thank you, thank you so much. A
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: less date. Bye bye to dear, thank you, bye bye.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: Coming up, it is our last break of the day,
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: and of course we'll have some closing remarks from the
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey at forty nine minutes after
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: the hour right after this you're listening to all right Steve.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: Here we are our last break of the day. The
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: day after the Derek Chauvin verdict, he was found guilty
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: on all three charges. Justice, Justice, you know, um, the
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: way you know it has it has been a good day,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: and I want everybody to keep the focus that that's
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: what it is. Now. Look, I know that it's long overdue.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I know we should have been here. I got it.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: I got it. I know the feeling of exhaustion, of
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: steady asking for what is rightly ours. You know, um,
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: this Constitution has never been for us. It doesn't apply
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: to us too many times. Sometimes we get a piece
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: of it here, sometimes we get a piece of it there,
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: and then the rest of it it just don't apply.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: So today day as we all deal and grapple with
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: the trial and how big it was, and like I said, earlier,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: I thought, this is just my opinion. You don't have
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: to agree with this, that this was the biggest trial
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: we've seen come across our TV screen that had this
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: much national attention since the O. J. Simpson trial. But
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: this one was different, though, This one was different. This
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: one was about justice for black people, people of color.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: This was about watching portions of this nation stand together.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: I watched doing COVID and the killing of this man,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: the murder of George Floyd. I watched people who I
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: didn't know cared. I watched people come outside and protests
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: and lock arms with people who they just felt for.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: I watched a lot out of non whites getting excuse me,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: a lot of non blacks get involved here this trial.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: So many black people watched it to just see if
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: we could just get our life to matter. How about
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: this one time, how about after you saw the same
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: video we saw. How about after you watch this man
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: murder this man for nine minutes and twenty some seconds
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: that video right there, we were holding with bated breath.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: How could he possibly walk from this after what we saw?
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: But now we had every right to feel a little apprehension,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: a little, a little uneasiness here a little on the
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: edge of our seats, a little nervous on sitting on
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: pins and needles, because we've seen it all too many times,
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: police officers brutalized, murder and kill us and get away
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: with it and go home. So excuse us for this
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: moment of celebration, for being able to see what we saw.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: And today we opened up the phone lines to talk
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: to our listeners, the people who support us Dan Dan
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: out and we felt it was important to do this
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: today because we had to listen to them. And in
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: every single phone call that was a little bit of pain,
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: or there was a lot of pain. That was all
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: a celebration, but there was some pain in every last
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: one of them phone calls because we had to listen
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: to our listeners fears, We had to listen to their relief.
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: We had to listen to them wanting to matter, you know,
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: because I gotta tell y'all something. If you don't understand,
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: this is really quite simple. We just tied of asking
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: you to treat us the same. We're just sick and
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: tired of it. I mean, let me ask you something.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Wouldn't you be if this were happening to you, wouldn't
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: you be sick and tired of this. If you were
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: bought over here against your will over four hundred years
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: ago and forced into slavery, and then through an emancipation
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: proclamation be so called set free, and then half to
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: constantly from that moment, all still asked to be free
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: still after that, asked you to allow that constitution to
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: apply to us the way it does to you, wouldn't
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: you be sick and tired. I'm exhausted. I've never in
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: my sixty four years, other than just being a toddler,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I've not known what this was like. I've never known
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: a moment where I was just free to be me.
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: I blew up. I saw colored only water fountains to
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: the back, colored and white restrooms. I saw it from
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: sixty four man, I come up in Wealth Trust, Virginia.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: I'm telling you, I saw it. I listened to my father,
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: my uncles tell stories, horrific stories. I've seen police officers
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: killed black people before, and nothing happened to him. I've
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: seen it, not on TV, not on social media, on
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: my street in my city, down the street from where
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: I stayed up in my playground. I remember cop came
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: up there and killed two kids at the playground because
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: he said they stole some bikes. Then wasn't even the bikes.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: I've seen all of this, So we tired. So since
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: we tired of asking you to treat us the same,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: and we seem to have to fight so hard to
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: get you to treat us the same. How about this,
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: how about this? How about you just leave us alone?
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Stop killing us, just leave us alone. I'm grateful for this,
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I'm happy about this. We need more. This is just
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: the beginning. We have a long way to go. Don't
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: give up. Stay watchful. It ain't over, This ain't the
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: last one. Stay watchful, Stay prayerful. Congratulations, God bless the
