Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Six weeks ago, I stood beneath the dome of this
- 0:03Speaker 1: Capitol and proclaimed the dawn of the Golden Age of America.
- 0:09Speaker 1: We have accomplished more in forty three days than most
- 0:12Speaker 1: administrations accomplished in four years or eight years, and we
- 0:17Speaker 1: are just getting started.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Good Thursday morning. It has Ben Ferguson with you. It's
- 0:29Speaker 3: the forty seven Morning Update, and here are the big
- 0:31Speaker 3: stories we're covering today. First up, it was a grand
- 0:33Speaker 3: slam for the President of the United States of America
- 0:35Speaker 3: with a joint addressed to Congress.
- 0:37Speaker 4: How do we know that bill? A new CBS poll says.
- 0:39Speaker 3: It's seventy six percent approved of Donald Trump's address. I'll
- 0:44Speaker 3: break down the poll numbers for you in much more
- 0:46Speaker 3: detail in just a moment. Plus, Democrats didn't learn a
- 0:48Speaker 3: darn thing from election night, and they certainly didn't learn
- 0:51Speaker 3: anything in the addressed to Congress as anarchy set in
- 0:54Speaker 3: among the Democratic Party. So when you look at the polls,
- 0:57Speaker 3: are they going to change the way they're doing things?
- 0:59Speaker 3: Apparently not. And we have a big showdown over censoring
- 1:02Speaker 3: one of those Democrats in the House of Representatives. And finally,
- 1:06Speaker 3: it's a really important subject. It is the tariffs on China,
- 1:10Speaker 3: on Canada, and on Mexico.
- 1:12Speaker 4: So what is this really all about. I'm going to
- 1:15Speaker 4: give you.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Exclusive details from the White House on exactly what they
- 1:19Speaker 3: want you to know. It's the forty seven Morning Update
- 1:22Speaker 3: and it starts right now.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Here is story number one.
- 1:24Speaker 4: After you do a.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Say of the Union, the question is did it land
- 1:28Speaker 3: with the American people?
- 1:29Speaker 4: Well? Boy, did it?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Ever, CBS poll has come out and said that seventy
- 1:34Speaker 3: six percent approved of President Trump's address to Congress. I
- 1:38Speaker 3: cannot tell you how massive that actually is. The majority
- 1:42Speaker 3: of Americans overwhelmingly supporting Donald Trump's decisions, and viewers who
- 1:47Speaker 3: watched it said, yes, we approve of what Donald Trump
- 1:50Speaker 3: had to say in his speech, which was the longest
- 1:52Speaker 3: day of the Union ever to that Joint Session of
- 1:54Speaker 3: Congress Tuesday night. Now, Trump boasted about the many accomplishments
- 1:58Speaker 3: since being inaugurated January two, and exclaimed, we are just
- 2:02Speaker 3: getting started. Did the American people believe and support what
- 2:06Speaker 3: the President was saying?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yes?
- 2:08Speaker 3: A wopping seventy six percent of those watching said they
- 2:11Speaker 3: approved of Trump's first second term speech to Congress, and
- 2:15Speaker 3: this is again coming from CBS News. Now, one of
- 2:19Speaker 3: the X factors of this is also just how negative
- 2:23Speaker 3: and honestly psycho the Democrats look. They wouldn't even stand
- 2:26Speaker 3: and clap when someone gets into West Point who had
- 2:28Speaker 3: lost a loved one. They wouldn't stand and clap for
- 2:31Speaker 3: a young boy who has made a Secret Service agent.
- 2:36Speaker 3: They wouldn't clap when we talked about bringing actual terrorists
- 2:39Speaker 3: to have killed Americans at Abba Gate to justice in
- 2:42Speaker 3: the United States of America.
- 2:43Speaker 4: And I'm going to have more on that list in
- 2:45Speaker 4: a moment.
- 2:45Speaker 3: But that may be why the President landed the speech
- 2:49Speaker 3: so well, is because the American people could see just
- 2:52Speaker 3: how much the Democratic Party hates basic things that all
- 2:56Speaker 3: Americans should be in favor of. It shouldn't be a
- 2:59Speaker 3: partisan issue if you have a president saying we're bringing
- 3:03Speaker 3: terrorists to justice. It shouldn't be a partisan issue to
- 3:06Speaker 3: stand for a young boy who is fighting for his
- 3:09Speaker 3: life with cancer and surviving and then being made a
- 3:13Speaker 3: you know, a Secret Service agent. This is one of
- 3:16Speaker 3: those moments that everyone should clap for, and yet the
- 3:19Speaker 3: Democrats refused to stand. So let's get to the poll
- 3:23Speaker 3: numbers and really break this down. Not only did ninety
- 3:27Speaker 3: one percent say that Donald Trump spent time on issues
- 3:29Speaker 3: they cared about, meaning that is a speech that landed.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Look, I've gotten to help on a couple of.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Different Stay of the Union addresses, and if you walked
- 3:37Speaker 3: into the presence at miss President, we just wrote you
- 3:38Speaker 3: a speech that ninety one percent of the country is
- 3:40Speaker 3: going to connect with and say that you talked about
- 3:43Speaker 3: an issue they cared about. Let me just tell you,
- 3:45Speaker 3: you would be a god in the political speech writing world. Okay,
- 3:49Speaker 3: I've never seen a speech to my knowledge that rated
- 3:52Speaker 3: afterwards at ninety one percent. That is the holy grail
- 3:55Speaker 3: where ninety one percent of the people watching said, hey,
- 3:57Speaker 3: you talked about something that I genuinely care about.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Now, that is unbelievable on its face.
- 4:03Speaker 3: But then you go back to the other question, Okay,
- 4:06Speaker 3: was the speech something you watched for a long period
- 4:09Speaker 3: of time That simply comes down to an issue of entertainment.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Are you engaged?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Is the president speaking to you or is he talking
- 4:16Speaker 3: about things that you don't care about?
- 4:17Speaker 4: Well, ninety one.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Percent said the President spend time on issues they cared about,
- 4:21Speaker 3: and then seventy four percent said the address was presidential
- 4:26Speaker 3: and also informative and entertaining. A total of seventy one
- 4:30Speaker 3: percent after that said this speech was inspiring to them. Now,
- 4:34Speaker 3: let's go back to speech writing here and say the units.
- 4:37Speaker 3: When you're writing a speech like this, if you could
- 4:39Speaker 3: walk into any president say hey, I'm going to give
- 4:41Speaker 3: you a speech that ninety one percent are going to
- 4:43Speaker 3: say connected with them in a way, Seventy four percent
- 4:45Speaker 3: said that your address was quote presidential, and then seventy
- 4:49Speaker 3: one percent, mister President, said the speech was inspiring to them.
- 4:53Speaker 3: That is, these are numbers that I would literally argue
- 4:56Speaker 3: are virtually unobtainable. Now, these numbers I just gave if
- 5:00Speaker 3: you all came from CBS News, so they had to
- 5:02Speaker 3: have been on a suicide watch after they had to
- 5:04Speaker 3: report this as a news organization, because this is not
- 5:08Speaker 3: what they were hoping to tell you.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Next story number two.
- 5:11Speaker 3: If you thought the Democrats were going to learn anything
- 5:13Speaker 3: from Donald Trump's speech or how America reacted to it
- 5:17Speaker 3: with the incredible poll numbers, well you'd be wrong, because
- 5:20Speaker 3: they are all now saying that they didn't do enough
- 5:23Speaker 3: to disrupt the president of the United States of America.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Even ABC news is. Sonney Hosten said all the Democrats
- 5:29Speaker 3: should have walked out during Donald Trump's address that on
- 5:33Speaker 3: the view saying the Democratic lawmakers should have I guessed,
- 5:36Speaker 3: in essence, said we're standing with you. To the one
- 5:39Speaker 3: man that actually was booted from the night, Sonny Hosten said,
- 5:43Speaker 3: you know, while I didn't watch it, I was looking
- 5:45Speaker 3: for signs of an opposition party, which is what the
- 5:48Speaker 3: Democratic Party must be at this point, not a resistance
- 5:51Speaker 3: because resistance is passive. Opposition is active. I think that
- 5:57Speaker 3: is what I saw when Representative Val Green stood up
- 6:00Speaker 3: and said, quote, you don't have a mandate to take
- 6:02Speaker 3: away Medicaid, and he was tossed out. I expected the
- 6:06Speaker 3: rest of his Democratic caucus, his colleagues, to walk out
- 6:09Speaker 3: with him, because alone you can survive, but together you thrive.
- 6:15Speaker 3: She went on to say later in the program that quote,
- 6:18Speaker 3: that is the energy that we need. They should have
- 6:20Speaker 3: stood with him in solidarity. We had Jean Pierre here
- 6:24Speaker 3: on this show yesterday and she said, we have to
- 6:27Speaker 3: have a sense of urgency as we move forward, and
- 6:30Speaker 3: we cannot do it the way we have in the past.
- 6:33Speaker 3: This is not normal. It is a five alarm fire.
- 6:37Speaker 3: And what I want to say to the Democrats is
- 6:39Speaker 3: you can't play by the rules with a party that
- 6:42Speaker 3: has thrown away the rule book.
- 6:44Speaker 4: You cannot do it. Now.
- 6:46Speaker 3: This is coming from the same people that tried to
- 6:48Speaker 3: put Donald Trump in prison and anyone else around him.
- 6:51Speaker 3: They're the ones that advocated for the raid of Marlago.
- 6:53Speaker 3: They're the ones that said that the people around January
- 6:57Speaker 3: the sixth were the same as terrorists that attack this
- 7:00Speaker 3: country on nine to eleven, you know Sama bin Laden
- 7:02Speaker 3: in Alquaida. These are also the same people that are
- 7:05Speaker 3: now actively advocating for anarchy or another word, Democrats obsessed
- 7:10Speaker 3: over insurrectionists. Now it seems that the Democratic Party is
- 7:14Speaker 3: calling for exactly that anarchy and insurrection, but not from
- 7:18Speaker 3: people outside the capitol. They're literally advocating for it by
- 7:20Speaker 3: the people that have been elected inside of our government.
- 7:24Speaker 3: You may have also seen during Donald Trump's joint address
- 7:27Speaker 3: to Congress, the purple haired congresswoman who went viral Tuesday
- 7:31Speaker 3: night for scowling throughout the entirety of President Donald Trump's
- 7:34Speaker 3: addressed to Congress. Well, she decided it was not enough
- 7:37Speaker 3: just to scowl at the president all night. She even
- 7:39Speaker 3: put out a special video on X saying this.
- 7:43Speaker 5: I was really stunned that the election was fought over
- 7:47Speaker 5: the cost of living and people families who live pacheck
- 7:50Speaker 5: to paycheck, concerned about whether or not they were going
- 7:54Speaker 5: to be able to pay their bills, be able to
- 7:56Speaker 5: pay for the healthcare. In some cases, you be putting
- 7:58Speaker 5: food on the table. Addressed tonight didn't address any of
- 8:02Speaker 5: those issues about cost of living and the fact that
- 8:05Speaker 5: people live paycheck to paycheck, and what we ought to
- 8:07Speaker 5: be doing in the Congress is to make sure that
- 8:10Speaker 5: we are helping people to secure an economic future for
- 8:13Speaker 5: themselves and their families.
- 8:15Speaker 3: By the way, let's just hit pause there and go
- 8:17Speaker 3: what to the CBS poll numbers actually did tell us
- 8:20Speaker 3: about the speech. The people watching the speech definitely believe
- 8:24Speaker 3: that the president was actually talking about those things. In fact,
- 8:27Speaker 3: when asked whether the president had a clear plan to
- 8:30Speaker 3: battle inflation in the speech, sixty eight percent said yes,
- 8:35Speaker 3: and it was a plan that they could get behind.
- 8:38Speaker 3: So what is she actually complaining about. She's complaining about
- 8:41Speaker 3: the fact that Democratic Party lost the last election. And
- 8:44Speaker 3: that is when she tells you the truth about how
- 8:47Speaker 3: much she hates Donald Trump.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Keep listening.
- 8:49Speaker 5: I found the speech to be vengeful, revengeful, and instead
- 8:54Speaker 5: of being lifting the hopes and the aspirations of people
- 8:58Speaker 5: of the United States of how we move forward as
- 9:01Speaker 5: a great nation that we are, what the vision for
- 9:04Speaker 5: our future was, it devolved into just vindictiveness and self
- 9:11Speaker 5: adulation on behalf of Donald Trump did not address the
- 9:17Speaker 5: issue of unchecked billionaires like his friend ally and Elon Musk.
- 9:26Speaker 5: It was not a speech befitting a great world leader
- 9:29Speaker 5: or a great president of the United States.
- 9:33Speaker 4: So there you have it.
- 9:34Speaker 3: They're angry about Elon Musk cutting their waists, their fraud,
- 9:38Speaker 3: and their abuse. They're also angry to Elon Musk for
- 9:40Speaker 3: apparently being wealthy, but they have no problem with George
- 9:43Speaker 3: Soros or any of the other billionaires on the left
- 9:45Speaker 3: that have been financing this type of quote anarchy and
- 9:50Speaker 3: revengeful vengefulness to quote her. So at the end of
- 9:53Speaker 3: the day, if you thought Democrats were going to learn
- 9:55Speaker 3: from their mistakes, apparently they're not at all, and that
- 9:58Speaker 3: may actually be a good thing for Donald Trump and
- 10:01Speaker 3: his agenda.
- 10:02Speaker 2: And finally, story number three, it's.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Very important that you understand what's going on with Donald
- 10:07Speaker 3: Trump using tariffs to protect American lives There's a lot
- 10:12Speaker 3: of misinformation out there about the President and the tariffs
- 10:15Speaker 3: that have just gone into effect, and I want you
- 10:17Speaker 3: to understand why. First off, the President is actually doing this.
- 10:21Speaker 3: You may not know, but President Joe Biden did very
- 10:24Speaker 3: little on fighting to protect Americans from fetnal. Fetnal smugglers
- 10:29Speaker 3: killed roughly three hundred thousand Americans during his time in office.
- 10:35Speaker 3: That is exactly why President Trump has quickly imposed painful
- 10:38Speaker 3: tariffs on countries that are helping those smugglers that killed
- 10:43Speaker 3: again three hundred thousand Americans during the Biden administration.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Quote.
- 10:49Speaker 3: I determined that the failure of the Government of the
- 10:52Speaker 3: People's Republic of China to act to blunt the sustained
- 10:57Speaker 3: influx of synthetic opioids, including fetan, flowing from the Chinese
- 11:02Speaker 3: Republic to the United States constituted an unusual and extraordinary
- 11:07Speaker 3: threat to the national security, foreign policy, an economy of
- 11:11Speaker 3: the United States of America. That is what Donald Trump
- 11:13Speaker 3: declared in his March third Order. He also went on
- 11:16Speaker 3: to say this in recognition of the fact that China
- 11:19Speaker 3: has not taken adequate steps to alleviate the illicit drug crisis.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Section two A of Executive Order fourteen nineteen five is
- 11:28Speaker 3: hereby amended by striking the words ten percent and inserting
- 11:32Speaker 3: in lieu thereof the words twenty percent. The order is
- 11:35Speaker 3: titled Further Amendment to Duties Addressing the Synthetic Opioid Supply
- 11:40Speaker 3: Chain in the People's Republic of China. Now, this isn't
- 11:43Speaker 3: the only place we're having problems when it comes to
- 11:46Speaker 3: Americans dying because of the drugs that are pouring across
- 11:51Speaker 3: the open borders. Trump also posted trade penalties against Mexico
- 11:55Speaker 3: and Canada, where criminal gangs are producing more drugs for
- 11:59Speaker 3: xp to the United States. Now, the vast death toll
- 12:03Speaker 3: from fetanol, much of which is manufactured in Mexico from
- 12:06Speaker 3: chemicals that were directly produced in China, is described in
- 12:11Speaker 3: multiple government reports. This is something that Biden administration knew,
- 12:14Speaker 3: and they didn't care that three hundred plus thousand Americans
- 12:18Speaker 3: were oding. Yet Biden's countermeasures were, by the way, all
- 12:22Speaker 3: tactical when he did act like he was acting, and
- 12:25Speaker 3: he put little or no pressure on Mexico and China
- 12:28Speaker 3: to stop the killing of Americans. In part, Biden's deputies,
- 12:32Speaker 3: including Border Chief Majorchis, they prioritize trade deals with China
- 12:37Speaker 3: and migration deals with Mexico over American lives.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Let me give you an example.
- 12:43Speaker 3: In twenty twenty two, Biden's deputies stayed mute when Texas
- 12:48Speaker 3: Governor Greg Abbott uses power over cross border inspections to
- 12:53Speaker 3: force modest concessions from four Mexican regional governments. Unsurprisingly, Trump's
- 13:00Speaker 3: efforts are being opposed by pro illegal immigrant advocates who
- 13:04Speaker 3: do not want to recognize the huge death told to
- 13:07Speaker 3: American citizens. For example, Aaron Boyke at The Washing and
- 13:11Speaker 3: Post wrote this, President Donald Trump's long promised tariffs on
- 13:15Speaker 3: goods from Canada and Mexico are due to going to
- 13:17Speaker 3: effect Tuesday. This despite fears that the taxes on imports
- 13:21Speaker 3: could cripple the economies of our two neighboring allies and
- 13:25Speaker 3: negatively impact the US economy as well by exacerbating inflation.
- 13:29Speaker 3: You notice they don't care about American families being ripped
- 13:32Speaker 3: apart by these synthetic drugs. The New York Times wrote,
- 13:36Speaker 3: for American families, the likely result is higher prices nearly
- 13:39Speaker 3: everywhere they turn, trying to fear monger you that the
- 13:42Speaker 3: grocery prices are more important than your children's lives. They
- 13:46Speaker 3: also went on to talk about car dealerships and electronics
- 13:49Speaker 3: stores and iPhones and what you're going to pay at
- 13:52Speaker 3: the pump. The Wall Street Journal even ignored the narcotics
- 13:55Speaker 3: trade as it slammed Donald Trump's tariffs. Good news is
- 13:58Speaker 3: Donald Trump wasted no time responding to the Wall Street
- 14:01Speaker 3: Journal criticism, saying this quote the terrifobby headed by the
- 14:05Speaker 3: globalist and always wrong. Wall Street Journal is working hard
- 14:09Speaker 3: to justify countries like Canada, Mexico, China, and too many
- 14:13Speaker 3: others to name continue the decades long ripoff of America,
- 14:18Speaker 3: both with regard to trade crime and poisonous drugs that
- 14:22Speaker 3: are allowed to so freely flow into America. China, by
- 14:26Speaker 3: the way, is also rejecting Trump's focus on fetnol, saying, Oh,
- 14:29Speaker 3: it's not a big deal, calm down. The President of
- 14:32Speaker 3: the United States of America, however, is saying, Yes, this
- 14:35Speaker 3: is a battle worth fighting. Why Because it's already cost
- 14:38Speaker 3: the lives of more than three hundred thousand Americans and
- 14:42Speaker 3: that clearly is something he's willing to fight for.
