- 0:03Hello and welcome to two girls and a thought I'm.
- 0:05Sharon, I'm Christy. You know, one of the things is,
- 0:08is that, you know, as we've been doing this, our podcast is kind
- 0:12of morphed, which I think is really cool because I think it's
- 0:15more of an organic thing that's happened.
- 0:18I think we've always had it pretty organic, but part of The
- 0:22thing is we're opening up a little bit more, I think getting
- 0:25more comfortable with the whole thing.
- 0:27And I think in that, you know, one of the things that we've
- 0:29really loved about this is talking about people's journey,
- 0:32that journey into S but into wherever you're going, whatever
- 0:37it is that you're trying to accomplish, yeah.
- 0:39Whatever it is you're aspiring to do and.
- 0:42You know, in doing that, one of the things is, is we talk in
- 0:45little bits and pieces about our journey.
- 0:47We haven't really talked very much about our journey and about
- 0:50how we got here. Really.
- 0:52Do you know what I mean? Yeah, for me, you know, I grew
- 0:55up in such a large family, so I have five brothers and five
- 0:58sisters. And even within that, it's not
- 1:01like we were all ever in our home together because my oldest
- 1:05sister is 17 years older than me.
- 1:07So, you know, I was just little when she was off and having her
- 1:10own baby. So my niece is only like a 2-3
- 1:13years younger than me or something, you know?
- 1:16But I grew up on a farm. Sometimes we listen to people
- 1:20who will say, you know, I just wanted to get out of that small
- 1:23town. There was, you know, blah, blah.
- 1:25They they have like this almost disdain for it.
- 1:30You know, I didn't have that. I didn't realize how much I
- 1:32would appreciate it. And hopefully I got older, you
- 1:35know, wants to be about 5:00, you know, chasing the stupid cow
- 1:39to milk or all that. I'm really grateful.
- 1:43That was now my experience growing.
- 1:46Up. We brought you into the mix
- 1:48though. Danny, Dan.
- 1:50You know, when you're young, just don't you're they're sort
- 1:52of like, why am I doing this shit?
- 1:55It's all saying it's cold out. It's, you know, all of these
- 2:00things. I'm treading through the snow
- 2:01when it's winter, when it's summer, you want to go do summer
- 2:04things and all that shit. It was uphill.
- 2:08And how many feet of snow both ways to stool?
- 2:11That's what I'm hearing. That was my story, damn it.
- 2:16No, but no. I think what's really
- 2:19interesting is I didn't really realize and didn't have the
- 2:23appreciation for it until later when I started to work and stuff
- 2:28and I was talking to my sister one day and we talked about that
- 2:31our worth ethic. I feel like we have this worth
- 2:36ethic and I feel like mom and dad gave that to us by all of
- 2:40those things that we griped and complained about as a child.
- 2:43You know what I'm saying? Yeah, I grew up in a small town,
- 2:47Delmar, Colorado, very small, but it's mostly by religions
- 2:51growing up. So you know, we knew everybody.
- 2:54But shout out to. Delmar, Colorado.
- 2:58But you know, we knew everybody. There was a different feel to it
- 3:03and all that. And I think as a family, once
- 3:05again growing up in a Latin, you know, a Latin family, you know,
- 3:08it's all really familia based, you know.
- 3:10So there's just so much of that that I've grown to appreciate.
- 3:14More. As I've gotten older and to see
- 3:17the value of it and how it's valuable to me even to this day.
- 3:21And I got the opportunity to see some of the value of that too
- 3:24and learn some things. And I appreciate it.
- 3:26And you're right, the there is a feeling there I feel like among
- 3:31the people of the Valley that is, it's very, I feel like it's
- 3:38inviting. I mean, I always felt, as you
- 3:41guys always say, everybody feels muy gente, you know, just very
- 3:46friendly and and personable and I appreciated that.
- 3:50And of course, yes, your family did welcome me in to the whole
- 3:55get out there and work the farm mix.
- 3:57I'm really glad that you guys didn't milk cows by that time
- 4:00game. Along, but he didn't show me
- 4:04experience with a cow. Muffy cow.
- 4:05When you're a girl, Oh, well, you know, when you're little,
- 4:09you want to be like the adults and go, you know, my grandpa
- 4:14went out there with his metal bucket and I had a little tiny
- 4:17one. And we were just visiting, of
- 4:20course, because I did not grow up on a farm.
- 4:23I was city girl. And so we went to visit him and
- 4:28he had his metal bucket and I had my little one.
- 4:31And I thought that was so cool. And I wanted to go out there and
- 4:33help milk the cow. And then I watched him do it and
- 4:36I was like, I don't want to touch that.
- 4:42Yeah, no good feeling gone. He did give my hands and and
- 4:45help me to do it. And I was like, no, no, they
- 4:47don't. They don't want to do that.
- 4:49It is a different feel. You have to.
- 4:51When you don't have a choice and you don't know the difference,
- 4:54she's going to. Do it so.
- 4:56Yeah, I'm not sure anybody sits there and says, you know what, I
- 4:58think I want to grow up and do that.
- 4:59No, but you're right. You know, you came into my
- 5:04family and my dad really didn't care.
- 5:06You were a city girl. It was Get out There shovel.
- 5:11Dig, get dirty, Let's go get wood, you know.
- 5:17My dad didn't know. Little pieces, you know, trees
- 5:19are big in circumference. And so there's this giant one.
- 5:22And he goes, put it on the truck and Christy's looking at me and
- 5:26she goes, well, how we can do that?
- 5:27I said, oh sweetie, we're going to roll it and then we're going
- 5:29to use everything we got. Put that in the truck.
- 5:32Yeah, learned. Use your legs.
- 5:34You don't use your legs. But do you have those things you
- 5:40know, even with you, you know, when you were young?
- 5:43Well, my dad led by example for sure with, you know, just that
- 5:47work ethic like you say, and I appreciate that.
- 5:50I mean, I he he was always doing something and committed to, you
- 5:56know, whether it be making the town look beautiful because he
- 5:59was out picking up trash or those kinds of things.
- 6:02He. He.
- 6:03Wholeheartedly did those kind of things, and I'm grateful for
- 6:06that example. But that is definitely something
- 6:09I always remember about your dad, because, you know, every
- 6:12time I turn around, he was, Bob was picking up the trash on the
- 6:15side of the road and making beautifying our neighborhood.
- 6:20Yeah. So do you feel like that, like
- 6:24role modeling, that work ethic was something?
- 6:27For you, yeah. Become became an intrinsic
- 6:30value. I think just, you know seeing
- 6:32him put in the time and effort and you know my mom too, but
- 6:37she's my mom has always changed things up.
- 6:41So she's she tried very many different kind of dogs and
- 6:46things like. That and so.
- 6:49She was all over the place. I have not seen Christy on the
- 6:52side of the road picking up trash.
- 6:54And you won't see me driving a bus.
- 6:56My mom, she was a bus driver for many years.
- 7:00In case of some things we don't want to do.
- 7:02In fact, I have no desire to be a farmer.
- 7:04However, I do love growing things.
- 7:07My mom was such an avid Oh my goodness, she can make anything
- 7:12grow. I'm telling you, she was just
- 7:14amazing. And my grandfather had a huge
- 7:17garden, you know? So I come by it naturally.
- 7:20Thank goodness for that because I do love to grow things.
- 7:23And I always tell you, if I had a place where I could have a
- 7:25garden, I would have a garden. I have plants, you know, and
- 7:29flowers out in the yard and stuff, but I just don't have a
- 7:33lot of space for that. But that would be something that
- 7:35I would just absolutely love. You know, I have my plants in my
- 7:39house, but sometimes I think it's too much for you.
- 7:44Well, I actually like the plants.
- 7:47Just nothing to do with them, just like to look at them.
- 7:51But I think those are the things, you know, when when we
- 7:53talk about that and sometimes when we think something's a
- 7:56negative because you really did not want to move to Colorado.
- 8:00I didn't, and my course could have been way different.
- 8:03But I. Not as good.
- 8:06I agree. I don't think it would have been
- 8:08as bad. Yeah, grew up in the Quad
- 8:11Cities. Shout out to the QC.
- 8:14So right along the Mississippi, it was a neat place to grow up,
- 8:17I think. And I feel like there was, you
- 8:20know, a lot of different cultures there and things like
- 8:23that. So that that's cool.
- 8:24It's not pretty in the winter and didn't I?
- 8:29That was my biggest complaint about living there growing up
- 8:31was I hated the winners there. They're getting dumped on the
- 8:35snow, in fact, this weekend. So they're a little hunkered
- 8:39down over there. Yeah, I mean, people think of
- 8:41Colorado and they think cold, but it can get cold, which, like
- 8:46it's really cold today to me. But it's interesting because I
- 8:50always feel like the snow doesn't stay long.
- 8:53You know, the sun comes out here, melts it right away.
- 8:55And yeah, here in Springs, I feel like it's not too bad.
- 8:59But where I grew up, I I always tell Sharon, Oh my God, I hated
- 9:03winter because it would snow freeze over and then snow again.
- 9:08And so when you're walking with, you know, snow clear up to your
- 9:12thighs and you're falling through, it's not fun.
- 9:16You're not really tall, So what was that like?
- 9:21This is true. So I was waist deep and yeah,
- 9:25and I was just down the street from the school, so it didn't
- 9:27matter that it, you know, the wind chill was like 60 below.
- 9:32You were still expected to go to school and I.
- 9:34Hated. I was telling her I always loved
- 9:36where we live because we live down the on the farm.
- 9:40They wouldn't plow our Rd. I mean, it was a dirt Rd.
- 9:43And so we would get, you know, a foot or two of snow, whatever it
- 9:46was. And so the bus couldn't come
- 9:48down. So anybody out in the country
- 9:51got snow days. So kids in town were not happy,
- 9:54but we were. Convenient.
- 9:58I know. That's a perk on this, that on,
- 10:00I guess. But but then I came to Colorado
- 10:04and I I you know, when you're younger, you don't.
- 10:07Keep that screaming. Yeah, you don't have the same
- 10:09appreciation for all the beauty there and all that kind of
- 10:12stuff. No, I was thinking, I know
- 10:14everybody here. I grew up here.
- 10:16I don't want to leave my friends, all those things.
- 10:18So I was digging my heels in and I was like, I'm going to stay
- 10:21here, give me a roommate. I'll just stay here in Illinois
- 10:26even though I didn't like the weather, but I thought Colorado
- 10:31doesn't sound any warmer, so why am I going there?
- 10:34I think your idea was to move It was going to be with palm trees.
- 10:37Yeah, that was my thought. So since that didn't happen, But
- 10:41yeah, we came out to Colorado, my parents bought a an apartment
- 10:46complex and that's How I Met you.
- 10:49They were landlords and such. So I mean, if I hadn't come out
- 10:55to Colorado, that wouldn't happen.
- 10:56So, so sad. And we wouldn't be here doing
- 10:58this wonderful podcast. And I think that just goes to
- 11:02show that sometimes I think in our minds we have this idea of
- 11:07what our life is going to be because we're so limited in or
- 11:12we don't expand out that, you know, and I never growing up,
- 11:16even in the Valley, I didn't sit there and think I'm going to
- 11:19travel. You know, I we didn't travel a
- 11:23whole lot. You'll have to remember, you
- 11:25know, try hauling around that many kids on a trip.
- 11:29You know, on vacation I need. A pretty big vehicle.
- 11:34I think we need a bus. But, you know, so it was, it
- 11:38wasn't even one of those things, you know, that I sat there and
- 11:41said, oh man, you know, this is something that I would really
- 11:44eventually love to do and would become such a passion for me,
- 11:48you know, And now getting out of it was actually when I was in
- 11:54high school, my sister was in a car accident.
- 11:57So I went to stay with her and I had to get in a plane for the
- 12:01first time, which was and you know, talking about stubborn
- 12:05just a little bit. You know, my dad takes me and
- 12:07he's given me a hard time and like teasing me.
- 12:11And, you know, I was already having anxiety about getting on
- 12:13this plane because I was going nobody with.
- 12:15I didn't know the person who was meeting me.
- 12:17Nothing, You know, I'm just like, OK, I'm going to go do
- 12:19this, you know, So I go. And so then I got a window seat
- 12:24because he was teasing me. And I shouldn't have got a
- 12:27window seat because the first time flying, I didn't, you know,
- 12:30it was just horrible. But I flew, I went, I landed in
- 12:34Atlanta, which was a big place from, you know, I just hadn't
- 12:37seen this, you know. Then we drove from Atlanta up to
- 12:40North Carolina, and that exposure was so amazing to me
- 12:47because I saw the ocean. Prior to that, we had been I I
- 12:53got to see Myrtle Beach and all of those things.
- 12:56So I had this exposure, which then it was like, Oh my God,
- 13:00there's a whole nother world out there, you know?
- 13:04And that's the thing, you know, sometimes our journey leads us
- 13:08on unexpected adventures and then it becomes, you know, a
- 13:14part of our story. And sometimes it's such a
- 13:18positive and it may not look like that to us at first.
- 13:21We resist that, but I mean, look where we are today.
- 13:25I'm so. Happy And you know, I think
- 13:28it's, you know, I think often times, you know with parents as
- 13:32children we don't understand. They're trying to teach us these
- 13:35life lessons. We think that we're just child
- 13:36labor, free child labor, you know what I mean?
- 13:41And you don't understand and and appreciate it.
- 13:44And and I always have this memory of we had had harvest so
- 13:47we were growing up alpha and so was my sister Alice.
- 13:52Sarah, Linda, my brother Mike, I think my brother Vernon, my
- 13:57sister Maria was not there. I don't know.
- 13:58Anyways, it was us. And as a reward for bringing in
- 14:03the hay for the alfalfa, that's it.
- 14:07Y'all go to the drive in. Oh my goodness, that was we were
- 14:12hot shit, man. Oh yeah, so we go, we called it
- 14:15our Corvette. It was like an old, I don't even
- 14:18know what the car was. It was like they don't make them
- 14:20anymore. And so we're driving, It's
- 14:24raining. The windshield wipers don't
- 14:26work. My sister Ellis is driving.
- 14:28We're trying to. And how many of the eleven are
- 14:31in the start? Not all of us were there.
- 14:35But you know what? We didn't even care.
- 14:38We had. It was just such a fun time
- 14:42because it was the reward, it was the payoff.
- 14:47And it didn't have to be a lot, but it felt so good.
- 14:51And I think that's what I'm learning on this journey is that
- 14:54sometimes we think a reward is or the payoff is this grandiose
- 15:00thing and sometimes it's not even for us, And I know this
- 15:06might sound funny, is even with our podcast, we have a gratitude
- 15:10statement that for all of our followers weekly we get one more
- 15:15follower or subscriber. You would think we had hit the
- 15:19Lotto. We're do not dance.
- 15:23And yeah, but I. But that's what I mean, I think
- 15:27there is so much to that and I think that's learning those
- 15:31things of what it is that we have gratitude for.
- 15:36And it's those little things. And it's really starting to put
- 15:39those things together. You know, being here and growing
- 15:43up, when we would drive through Springs, I was, I don't like
- 15:47springs. I don't even know why I don't
- 15:48like springs. Maybe it was because I was going
- 15:50to a doctor or something. That might be it.
- 15:52But anyway, I remember saying that.
- 15:56And then when I got the job in Springs, I was like, oh God, we
- 16:00got to go to Springs. And now it is my home.
- 16:05And I love it. I love the connections we have
- 16:09here. I love the work that we do.
- 16:11I love my office. I absolutely love our.
- 16:15Home. There have many local businesses
- 16:17that we love to frequent. And yeah, we've lived in a few
- 16:21different places throughout Colorado over time.
- 16:24And my appreciation for Colorado and just its beauty has, you
- 16:30know, grown exponentially over time.
- 16:33But I feel like that Colorado Springs feels like home, and I
- 16:39have said that more than any other place we've been and I.
- 16:42Think it's interesting because I remember a conversation that we
- 16:44had and you were saying that you kind of wish your dad was still
- 16:47here because now as he lived in Colorado and but why is that
- 16:54what? What is it?
- 16:55My dad really appreciated the mountains.
- 16:57He loved the mountains of Colorado and I do wish that he
- 17:03was still here too. Well, for many reasons, but just
- 17:07to share that with him and that appreciation and you and I.
- 17:11You know. Go hiking now and things like
- 17:13that. And I think that those are all
- 17:15things that he would have enjoyed but that I didn't really
- 17:18do with him. I mean he he worked a lot
- 17:21throughout my entire life. It didn't matter When he
- 17:24retired, he kept on trucking, so he was always busy doing things
- 17:28and he had a. Love of animals and nature piece
- 17:31that you've really grown to appreciate and to just it
- 17:35resonates with you now. Right.
- 17:37Yeah. So I really do wish that I could
- 17:40share some of these experiences with him now.
- 17:43But I feel like, you know, you've even talked about that,
- 17:45that there's still now this different kind of connectedness
- 17:48even with him because of that. You know what I mean?
- 17:51That. So once again, that journey that
- 17:53brought you to here, where even though he's gone, you can still
- 17:58feel that, you know, if that makes sense, yeah.
- 18:01I mean, I wish that we could have those conversations, but
- 18:03yes, I I think when we're outside, especially in nature
- 18:09and that I I can feel his presence, you know what I mean?
- 18:14Because I feel like that though, these are all things that he
- 18:17would have enjoyed so much. And I agree.
- 18:20You know what? My parents always loved nature
- 18:23and things like that. And so sometimes I'll, you know
- 18:26it worked out as somewhere new willing to say oh man, mom and
- 18:29dad would like this or oh you know dad would like this And you
- 18:33know those kind of things. And you know, even on this
- 18:35journey, you know, it's it's kind of cool that we've even
- 18:39like with your mom and brother, we got to go experience
- 18:43different things with them that you know, I don't know if they
- 18:46would have done it kind of things just change that are
- 18:50outside of our control. But I have always found it
- 18:53interesting that my, my mom's family, they come from a very
- 18:57small town in Alabama and many of them still live there to this
- 19:03day, didn't venture outside of those areas very much.
- 19:08And then some of them, you know, maybe I've traveled for jobs
- 19:13because I, you know, some of my family was in the trucking
- 19:17industry and so did some of that kind of traveling.
- 19:20But home was always the small town place.
- 19:23And I appreciate that about everybody.
- 19:25You know, if it's home and it's home and that's where you want
- 19:28to be, then definitely that's where your heart is.
- 19:31And I think that's great. But I love that with my mom and
- 19:36my brother, even some of my cousins.
- 19:38We've taken some time to take some trips with them and go see
- 19:42the ocean and and all of those kind of things, places that they
- 19:46probably wouldn't have gone on their own, as you said.
- 19:49I think it's kind of cool that we, you know, longest turning of
- 19:52ours. We've been able to expose them
- 19:54to other things and really love that when we had the twins.
- 19:58Yeah, my little cousins, they're twins.
- 20:01They're not so little anymore. They're turning 16 of the year.
- 20:04Oh my gosh. And times.
- 20:07But you know what? That was one of the things, you
- 20:08know, even for holidays and stuff, we talked about how do we
- 20:11give them something that's memorable in those experiences
- 20:14Because and sometimes it's economic, sometimes it there's
- 20:18all of these things and it's neither positive or negative.
- 20:21It's not good or bad. It's none of that.
- 20:24It's circumstance, right. And I am so grateful that on
- 20:28this journey and especially where we've been we have been
- 20:31able to afford those luxuries and those things and and it was
- 20:35so fun to see them because we took we our first was to the we
- 20:40we're closer to the East Coast. So we went to Panama City and
- 20:43got to see them but even their evolution and their journey.
- 20:46So when we go to Panama City Courtney nothing to do with the
- 20:52ocean. Haley, she wants to be out there
- 20:55with us. We're out in the wings.
- 20:57We're having this great dine. Fast forward, we go to see my
- 21:02sister in California and spend the holiday with her.
- 21:06And we go to Laguna Beach. Yes.
- 21:08And we have this flip. Yeah, Courtney out there wants
- 21:13to be in the waves with us. Haley, I ain't going out there.
- 21:16It's interesting. I feel like with twins, because
- 21:19a lot of times they do flip with things like there'll be certain
- 21:22things they're adamant about when they're, you know, certain
- 21:25age and then. And and.
- 21:26One will be the opposite and then you go a little bit, a
- 21:29little bit down the road and they completely slip.
- 21:33Exactly. But it just that experience of
- 21:36of them seeing those two places. And you know what I love about
- 21:39travel with other people is you get to see and experience it
- 21:44through their eyes. And that has been something that
- 21:48I love about this journey and about the places we've gone and
- 21:51and you know we have this sleeve tattoo and this is a a montage
- 21:57to. Our many trips to Las.
- 21:59Vegas and the different people we've went, so we each has a
- 22:02representation. The Twins have a representation
- 22:05on that because we took them to Vegas too.
- 22:07They freaking loved it. Yeah, they wanted to live on the
- 22:10strip. You know, but we don't get a
- 22:12live on the strip. Nobody lives on the Strip.
- 22:15You know maybe somebody does I don't know you know but it was
- 22:18such a cool thing and and and I hope that we in that we expose
- 22:22them to something that might lead to a passion with them
- 22:26because we never know you know and especially when we're we're
- 22:28with other people just as I never knew you know flying to
- 22:32for the first time in that would be one of those things you know
- 22:35where we live there would be something that would change
- 22:37something for me you. Know.
- 22:39That's the cool thing. The people that we encounter add
- 22:42something to our lives, you know, or hopefully we add to
- 22:45theirs as well. Definitely.
- 22:46And there's been numerous places that, you know, maybe I've gone
- 22:50to alone or with my family in the past that I wanted to
- 22:54revisit with you because like you say, you get to experience
- 22:58it through someone else's eyes and I love that.
- 23:01I appreciate it and and give you a little piece of what I
- 23:05experienced, you know when when I was younger what I you know.
- 23:09That was really cool. One of the house from the rocks.
- 23:11Yes, that was really cool. That was one of the one of the
- 23:14places that I was thinking of. If nobody's heard of it, I don't
- 23:17know, but it's a house that was built by Frank Lloyd Wright and
- 23:24it's called House on the Rocks. I can't tell you the exact
- 23:27location of it, but anyway, look it up at the really cool place
- 23:31and very interesting. I mean very.
- 23:33Unusual. A lot of stuff in their rooms.
- 23:35Yeah, amazing stuff and very historic stuff too.
- 23:38So it was really a neat thing. I I really appreciated getting
- 23:42to see that 'cause you, you had talked about it and I think we
- 23:45can share those things. I think that's another thing
- 23:47that's really kind of cool to me is is because that that shows me
- 23:53the journey that you've been on. And I get to see a part of that
- 23:57past, you know, and and how it played a role.
- 24:01You know, just like, you know, with you, you know, I've taken
- 24:03you to different places in the Valley that have been, you know,
- 24:06important to me. You know, we've been to
- 24:07different places in New Mexico because my mom's parents lived
- 24:11in New Mexico. And then when we were in when I
- 24:16was in ANFLAC, we're in Fort Riley, KS.
- 24:19And so we got to go back to where my grandparents were.
- 24:22Actually, my mom's parents were actually buried and stuff.
- 24:25So it's been a neat thing. And I think that our journey is
- 24:29not written in stone. And I think that's the really
- 24:31cool thing is there are so many parents that we can take and we
- 24:36can take a path and we can say, you know, this isn't it for me
- 24:39and we can redo it. And that's the beauty of our
- 24:42journeys. We don't know what's going to
- 24:45take us to that next exciting place in our life, but sometimes
- 24:50we have such a fear of it. Yeah.
- 24:52And I I think that you have to have some flexibility and you
- 24:57know, just get comfortable in that and realize that you know
- 25:00the way that you saw things happening.
- 25:03It may not be the way that it plays out, but it may play out
- 25:06to even something better than you realized.
- 25:09Especially you're moving to Colorado, yes.
- 25:13That was a wonderful thing. So I'm really grateful that my
- 25:17parents, you know, no, you can't stay here.
- 25:23Yes, I was 18, but no, you can't stay.
- 25:27They won, but I think even like you talked about the San Mose
- 25:31Valley. Yeah, and I had no idea, no
- 25:37concept of the San Luis Valley. When I came to Colorado, I had
- 25:41never heard of that. We moved to the Grand Junction
- 25:44area, which Mesa State is there, and I was attending college, but
- 25:50I somehow found out about the sister college, which is Adam
- 25:54State, which is Adam State University now in Alamosa, which
- 25:58is in the Valley. And I don't know, I just became
- 26:02fixated on the idea of finding out more about this school and
- 26:06just started looking into it and then end up making a trip down
- 26:11to the Valley. And I thought, you know what, I
- 26:13don't know why, but I think I'm going to live here one day and I
- 26:17wouldn't have guessed that because it's not a big place.
- 26:20It's not like some place that I would aspire to move to.
- 26:24I just. And she wasn't enamored with me
- 26:27yet. I know I didn't even know you
- 26:29yet, so that's interesting because you came from there and
- 26:32I didn't didn't even know you at that time.
- 26:35So it's really interesting how our paths twist and turn and you
- 26:39know. Well, I think that's kind of
- 26:41cool, you know, because even in the twisting and the turning of
- 26:44that, you know, your bachelor's degree is from Adam State
- 26:46University and my master's is from Adam State University.
- 26:50So we both get to the alumni of that.
- 26:52And that's another piece of that connectedness.
- 26:54You know what I mean? It's such a fun thing when you
- 26:58sit back and you really take that time to look at your
- 27:00journey. And I don't know if people do
- 27:02that, you know, but taking that time to sit back and I think,
- 27:07you know, we do that more and more now, we kind of reflect
- 27:09more back on that. And you know, what were those
- 27:12things that we learned that we didn't think were valuable and
- 27:15we find the value in those if we pause, you know, we have to
- 27:20pause and and do that. So, you know, hopefully as
- 27:23you're listening this, some of you will sit back and say, Oh my
- 27:25God, what was that pivotal moments in the my journey that I
- 27:28didn't really give thought to or have gratitude for?
- 27:31Because I think the more we do that, the more it enhances the
- 27:35journey that we're already on. Yeah, what were those moments
- 27:39that you totally kicked against it and then found out it was one
- 27:43of the best things? Like the universe knew better
- 27:45sometimes. That happens.
- 27:49That's what it is. We we get to this place, you
- 27:52know, and I hope that more and more people are getting to that
- 27:56because I think sometimes we spend so much time holding on to
- 27:59the negative that we forget what came out of it.
- 28:03We forget what that potential is.
- 28:06We don't realize the potential in things because if you stay
- 28:10there and you get here and you're still kicking against it
- 28:13and never look around with what you have now, you would have
- 28:16stayed stuck in a very different place.
- 28:19Right. You know, and I don't think it
- 28:21would be as beautiful as what I feel like this is.
- 28:26Exactly. And if I had sat there and
- 28:28continued with this made-up idea in my head about Colorado,
- 28:31because that I don't even know where it came from, You know,
- 28:34maybe it's because it was too big of a city, you know, because
- 28:36I was little, you know, and I was from this little, teeny,
- 28:39tiny town. And then, you know, Springs even
- 28:41then wasn't that huge, but it was still bigger than where I
- 28:44came from. I don't know if there was
- 28:45something of that. You know what?
- 28:46I mean, I still think it was because you were going to the
- 28:48doctor or something like that, that you didn't want to attend.
- 28:53You know, I don't know, but I remember we had to drive through
- 28:55Springs because my oldest sister lived in Denver in the suburb of
- 28:59Denver. So I don't know if it was even
- 29:02that. It just seemed like went on
- 29:03forever. You know what I'm saying?
- 29:05Now you know you get to Springs and then you're in Denver in no
- 29:08time begin. There's almost no, there's it's
- 29:10all being filled in in between. But before it wasn't, which is
- 29:13like, oh God, this is boring. I guess it's a kid.
- 29:15I don't know. You know, I always love going to
- 29:17my sister's house because she made the biggest pancakes.
- 29:20She was a great cook. Oh my goodness.
- 29:22But anyway, you'd go back to food.
- 29:26But that's what I mean. I don't know if it was part of
- 29:28that or whatever it was, but I'm glad I didn't hold on to that
- 29:31idea and sit there and say, you know what?
- 29:33This. I said this when I was little.
- 29:35I'm going to stick to this or whatever.
- 29:36I'm so glad I didn't because like you, I feel like we are in
- 29:39such an amazing, wonderful place and I am so grateful for it all
- 29:42the time. And Colorado Springs is my home
- 29:46and I appreciate it. I I love, we love supporting
- 29:49like you said local things and being a part of the community.
