- 0:00Speaker 1: Last question, Thanks sir.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Governor Gavin Newsom has floated this idea of a one
- 0:05Speaker 2: hundred percent state tax on Californians who have received money
- 0:09Speaker 2: from President Trump's anti weaponization fund. Your response to the
- 0:12Speaker 2: Governor's call from from seven.
- 0:14Speaker 1: There's no cure for stupid update. Okay, okay, thank you all.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Today you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
- 0:24Speaker 3: Ben Ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning. Nice to have you with us on
- 0:27Speaker 4: the forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one big
- 0:29Speaker 4: story for you. The Democrats are in a civil war
- 0:33Speaker 4: over the ideas of what they're running on. Is it Marxism,
- 0:36Speaker 4: is it socialism? Is it communism? Well, there's a lot
- 0:40Speaker 4: of fighting over it, and what they have decided on
- 0:43Speaker 4: truly is shocking. It's the forty seven Morning Update and
- 0:46Speaker 4: it starts right now.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Story number one.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Well, the good news is if you're a Republican, there's
- 0:51Speaker 4: a full blown civil war unfolding inside the Democratic Party
- 0:55Speaker 4: right now and it's not getting a lot of attention,
- 0:58Speaker 4: but voters are paying a time and one of their
- 1:01Speaker 4: own senators just admitted it publicly. Corey Booker started talking
- 1:07Speaker 4: openly about desperation inside the Democratic Party. You know, the
- 1:12Speaker 4: panic has moved from private conversations behind closed doors now
- 1:16Speaker 4: into public view. And that's exactly what we witnessed in
- 1:21Speaker 4: the last twenty four hours. Corey Booker recently acknowledged that
- 1:25Speaker 4: millions of Americans, and frankly millions of Democrats, well, what's.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Something they already know?
- 1:30Speaker 4: The Democratic Party is struggling to find not only new energy,
- 1:34Speaker 4: but new leadership and then a message that actually connects
- 1:38Speaker 4: with voters outside of the elite activist circles. Now, Booker's
- 1:43Speaker 4: comments about Democrats needing a new fresh set of faces
- 1:48Speaker 4: and ideas may sound simple on the surface, but politically
- 1:52Speaker 4: those words are devastating to a party that thinks they're
- 1:56Speaker 4: going to clean up in the midterm elections. When a
- 1:59Speaker 4: senior Democrat says the party needs fresh faces, new faces,
- 2:03Speaker 4: and new ideas, what he's really saying is this, the
- 2:07Speaker 4: current leadership isn't working, the current strategy isn't working, and
- 2:13Speaker 4: the current leadership and strategy may be actually dragging the
- 2:17Speaker 4: party towards another election day disaster. Now, this isn't just
- 2:22Speaker 4: about one quote from Corey Booker either. This is about
- 2:26Speaker 4: a Democratic Party that is fractured in multiple competing factions,
- 2:31Speaker 4: all of them point the finger, all of them blaming
- 2:34Speaker 4: each other for why they're losing support with working class voters,
- 2:39Speaker 4: with independence, with Hispanic voters, with young men with suburban parents,
- 2:43Speaker 4: and even parts of their traditional urban coalitions. And the
- 2:48Speaker 4: infighting is getting uglier by the day. I want you
- 2:52Speaker 4: to take a listen to what Corey Booker had to
- 2:54Speaker 4: say on TV as he described this publicly for the
- 2:57Speaker 4: first time. So take a listen Corey Booker in his
- 3:01Speaker 4: own words, talking about the Democratic Party and saying what
- 3:06Speaker 4: many Democrats wished he never would have talked about.
- 3:09Speaker 2: What's the message from Leader Schumer or Leader Jeffries on
- 3:14Speaker 2: helping the American people. I mean, I cover this for
- 3:17Speaker 2: a living, and I'm not sure there's a coherent message
- 3:19Speaker 2: about elect Democrats because this is what we're going to do.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I mean, I know you all hate Trump, but what else.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Well, that's again plainly what I've been saying. You are
- 3:27Speaker 1: not going to win this election just by what you're against.
- 3:30Speaker 1: You need to start articulating who you're for and what
- 3:33Speaker 1: you're for. Have a vision that's compelling that not only
- 3:36Speaker 1: engenders trust, but makes sense for the American people.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You still have faith in the Schumer to be in
- 3:41Speaker 2: charge of you.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I am telling people left and right, we are five
- 3:44Speaker 1: months out from election. What is going to make the
- 3:46Speaker 1: Republicans gleeful is if we're talking about each other in
- 3:49Speaker 1: the Democratic Party and not talking about the realities that
- 3:52Speaker 1: Americans are facing. I am tired of all this machination
- 3:57Speaker 1: about party politics in a crisis right now, millions of
- 4:02Speaker 1: Americans losing their health insurance, their costs skyrocketing. I talk
- 4:06Speaker 1: to more and more New Jerseyans who are barely staying
- 4:09Speaker 1: afloat enough of normal party politics. We need to focus
- 4:13Speaker 1: on the people, and the Democratic Party desperately needs new leadership.
- 4:16Speaker 1: And that's what's exciting me about this cycle. It's not
- 4:19Speaker 1: only new leaders emerging, but a new vision for our party.
- 4:22Speaker 1: But you can damn well be sure that I'm going
- 4:24Speaker 1: to be talking about what our party needs to do
- 4:26Speaker 1: to change and what our party needs to go. And
- 4:28Speaker 1: the biggest issue for me, and I think what makes
- 4:30Speaker 1: me frustrated with politics as usual is the massive corruption
- 4:34Speaker 1: going on in all three branches, from a Supreme Court
- 4:37Speaker 1: that's taking unlimited gifts from billionaires who have interests in
- 4:40Speaker 1: matters before them to Congress, people trading stocks and accepting
- 4:44Speaker 1: corporate cash and corporate pack money to a president who
- 4:47Speaker 1: is setting records for being the greatest grifter in chief
- 4:50Speaker 1: we have ever seen. We need real change that engenders
- 4:53Speaker 1: trust again in American politics, but more importantly in the
- 4:57Speaker 1: people that are standing up right now and swaying now.
- 5:00Speaker 4: The end fighting is getting uglier by the day. You
- 5:03Speaker 4: got one wing of the Democratic Party that says, well,
- 5:05Speaker 4: we've gone too radical, and then you have the other
- 5:08Speaker 4: side saying, are you kidding me, We're not radical enough?
- 5:12Speaker 4: And then one faction says the party has abandoned Middle America,
- 5:16Speaker 4: and another side of the party says, well, we just
- 5:19Speaker 4: spend too much time trying to appeal to moderate so
- 5:21Speaker 4: let's just stop doing that. And underneath all of this
- 5:25Speaker 4: is the brutal reality Democrats cannot escape. They still don't
- 5:30Speaker 4: know how Donald Trump keeps winning the political conversation. That's
- 5:34Speaker 4: the part that's driving them absolutely crazy, because after years
- 5:38Speaker 4: of investigations, media attacks, impeachment efforts, even the criminal cases
- 5:44Speaker 4: in the non stop political warfare, Trump still dominates the
- 5:48Speaker 4: national conversation. He still controls the Republican Party, Unlike any
- 5:52Speaker 4: political figure that we've seen literally in modern political American history,
- 5:58Speaker 4: and Democrats are looking around asking themselves the big question,
- 6:02Speaker 4: how are we losing ground after all of this? And
- 6:06Speaker 4: that's why Corey Booker's comments became so interesting, because what
- 6:10Speaker 4: he's really describing is a confidence crisis inside of his
- 6:14Speaker 4: own party. Just think about what Democrats are facing right now.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Twenty twenty four post election autopsy exposed major weaknesses with
- 6:23Speaker 4: younger voters and also refusing to admit their own flaws.
- 6:27Speaker 4: One of the great examples is they completely admitted the
- 6:30Speaker 4: fact that, well, there was a massive cognitive decline of
- 6:33Speaker 4: Joe Biden. If you do an autopsy on how you
- 6:36Speaker 4: lost an election with Kamala Harris, but you don't look
- 6:39Speaker 4: at that, and you don't look at the fact that
- 6:41Speaker 4: no one voted for Kamala Harris. That's right, she was coronated.
- 6:45Speaker 4: There was also another problem there. Now the polling also
- 6:49Speaker 4: shows something else that's interesting. There is now growing frustration
- 6:53Speaker 4: within the Democratic Party on issues like inflation, even immigration, crime,
- 7:00Speaker 4: and then cultural extremism. That's not good for Democrats running.
- 7:05Speaker 4: You've got Democratic governors that are increasingly at odds with
- 7:08Speaker 4: progressive activists. You've got moderates in the Democratic Party that
- 7:12Speaker 4: are nervous about the far left messaging that's coming from
- 7:15Speaker 4: all the activist groups and the donors are beginning to
- 7:19Speaker 4: quietly worry, apparently that the party, the Democratic Party, has
- 7:23Speaker 4: become so disconnected from normal Americans that they've completely lost
- 7:27Speaker 4: sight of reality. And that's why you're hearing phrases like
- 7:32Speaker 4: new faces or new generation, or new ideas, or rebranding
- 7:36Speaker 4: or course correction, all of those have been used in
- 7:39Speaker 4: the last several days by Democrats on TV. Now, these
- 7:43Speaker 4: aren't hopeful slogans at all. These are actually slogans of
- 7:47Speaker 4: warning signs that they now realize are right in front
- 7:50Speaker 4: of them. Look, political parties, they only start using language
- 7:54Speaker 4: like this when they believe the current model is in
- 7:57Speaker 4: a disaster spiral. And then there's also another major issue,
- 8:03Speaker 4: who is actually the leader of the Democratic Party, who
- 8:06Speaker 4: exactly is leading on the issues, And that's becoming harder
- 8:10Speaker 4: and harder to answer. Former President Joe Biden remains deeply
- 8:14Speaker 4: polarizing figure within his own party, and he's nowhere to
- 8:17Speaker 4: be found. You've got Vice President Kamala Harris continues to
- 8:20Speaker 4: struggle with approval ratings in voter enthusiasm even as she
- 8:24Speaker 4: says I'm running for president again more than likely. And
- 8:27Speaker 4: progressive stars like AOC excite activist audiences, but then they
- 8:33Speaker 4: create bigger concerns among the moderates. Governors are also trying
- 8:38Speaker 4: to emerge nationally. Look, governors are even trying to emerge
- 8:42Speaker 4: politically for the White House, but none have fully consolidated
- 8:46Speaker 4: their support outside of their own state. And then you've
- 8:49Speaker 4: got sentaters like Corey Booker. Yes he's looking at running
- 8:52Speaker 4: for president, but he's also signaling that the Democratic Party
- 8:56Speaker 4: is in need of an entirely new makeover and other forwards,
- 9:00Speaker 4: a new direction he believes. Look, there's not a lot
- 9:03Speaker 4: of unity right now. There's no framework for how they're
- 9:06Speaker 4: going to get back on top, and the generational divide
- 9:09Speaker 4: within the Democratic Party is becoming impossible to hide. Older
- 9:13Speaker 4: establishment Democrats still dominate much of the party infrastructure and
- 9:17Speaker 4: their donations. But the younger radical activists, well, they want
- 9:22Speaker 4: aggressive ideological confrontation on everything from climate policy to policing,
- 9:28Speaker 4: to immigration, to foreign policy to trans issues. Moderates, by
- 9:33Speaker 4: the way, they want things totally different. They want electability.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Activists want ideological purity, which doesn't happen on either side
- 9:42Speaker 4: of the aisle very often, and then donors are saying, Hey,
- 9:46Speaker 4: they just want stability in America and they want stability
- 9:49Speaker 4: around the world. The grassroots organizers, many of them, have
- 9:53Speaker 4: dried up because they don't believe in going to war
- 9:57Speaker 4: on behalf of some of these radicals, Which brings me
- 10:00Speaker 4: to one Democratic candidate that is being supported by the
- 10:03Speaker 4: elites of Washington, and that's a guy who has a
- 10:08Speaker 4: Nazi tattoo. Yes, Graham Platner. He is in Maine, and
- 10:14Speaker 4: he is the guy who's got the most wild opposition
- 10:18Speaker 4: research file I've ever seen any candidate have. And the
- 10:22Speaker 4: Democratic Maine Senate candidate even had to dodge questions this
- 10:26Speaker 4: week about an apology. He was confronted over a deleted
- 10:29Speaker 4: Reddit post where he said a purple heart recipient didn't
- 10:34Speaker 4: deserve to live. Yes, he actually said that. He was
- 10:39Speaker 4: asked if he wanted to apologize after saying that, and
- 10:43Speaker 4: here is the response from the Democratic leading candidate in Maine.
- 10:47Speaker 5: I was wondering, if you regret the posts about the
- 10:51Speaker 5: purple heart veteran, if you think you need to apologize
- 10:56Speaker 5: to him, what you would say to the voters who
- 11:01Speaker 5: might up said FY.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Four tours the Infantry. Any attempt to say that I
- 11:09Speaker 1: disrespect Cutters is slanderous and offensive.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Do you think you allm an apology?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Do you know how many of my friends of Purple Arts?
- 11:18Speaker 5: Do you know how many of my friends go winded? Charlotta?
- 11:21Speaker 1: Thank you, thank you.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So there you have it, a Democratic Party that insults
- 11:28Speaker 4: our men and women that serve this country, refuse to apologize,
- 11:32Speaker 4: and then there's massive infighting on top of that. What
- 11:35Speaker 4: we now know, and it's pretty darn clear, is the
- 11:38Speaker 4: Democratic Party has no idea who's in charge or even
- 11:41Speaker 4: what they actually stand for. And that's where we are
- 11:44Speaker 4: right now.
