- 2:29Speaker 1: about all this and continue to battle high blood pressure
- 2:32Speaker 1: and blood were all nobody in the black community or
- 2:34Speaker 1: the minority community. High blood pressures always out there, and
- 2:38Speaker 1: sugar and balances. Dr Tapatha decided not only to focus
- 2:42Speaker 1: on her diet and desire to contribute positive energy to
- 2:45Speaker 1: the community, but through studies with the focus on women's
- 2:49Speaker 1: health and wellness she created. She created Good Girl Chocolate
- 2:53Speaker 1: to thrive at the intersection of science, simplicity, and flavor.

- 3:03Speaker 1: was a grand recipient of Beyonce's Big Good Foundation. Our

- 3:11Speaker 1: healthy lifestyle and becoming a leading authority in the field
- 3:14Speaker 1: of women's health and fitness. Please welcome to money making conversation.
- 3:18Speaker 1: For the very first time. I feel like I've known
- 3:19Speaker 1: that because we've had some technical glitches. Dr Tabatha car Indeed,
- 3:23Speaker 1: how you doing good morning, Good morning, I am fantastic.
- 3:29Speaker 1: How are you doing well? I'm doing good. You know,
- 3:31Speaker 1: eating some of your chocolate. So I was kind of like,
- 3:33Speaker 1: you know, one thing I've learned now, when you eat
- 3:35Speaker 1: something that good, you shouldn't like immediately going to introducing someone.
- 3:39Speaker 1: So in between between certain sentences, I was just getting
- 3:44Speaker 1: that that that nice taste was just rushing through my mouth.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And so I want to apologize to anybody going. Richard
- 3:49Speaker 1: doesn't sound like he normally sounds when he introduces people. Well,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I was enjoying Good Girl chocolate. That was all in
- 3:57Speaker 1: my mouth. It was all in my system, and I'm
- 3:59Speaker 1: having a good I apologize. I apologize to everybody who's
- 4:02Speaker 1: watching and everybody who's listening. I have some come to
- 4:06Speaker 1: Good Girl chocolate, and that's a good thing. By the way.
- 4:10Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. I love it. Hey,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you're not the first one, and you are not the
- 4:16Speaker 1: first one to taste good Girl chocolate and absolutely loved it.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I'm thrilled that you like it, well, I have, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 1: thank you for sending me something. This is another packaging
- 4:24Speaker 1: that she sent me. But I was dyning on this
- 4:27Speaker 1: because the whole brownie batter. And this is this is
- 4:29Speaker 1: the sweetest item that you make right here? Correct it is?
- 4:33Speaker 1: It is. I started out making seventy percent dark chocolate,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and that's not your average grocery store dark chocolate because
- 4:41Speaker 1: folks can claim dark chocolate and have sixty percent sugar
- 4:45Speaker 1: in it. So I have real seventy percent dark chocolate.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And what I found is some people like a semi sweet,
- 4:53Speaker 1: some people like a really sweet. So I go from
- 4:55Speaker 1: seventy percent all the way down to thirty four percent
- 4:59Speaker 1: co out so I can bless everyone's palate absolutely. You
- 5:04Speaker 1: know the whole thing about it. When you put the
- 5:06Speaker 1: word vegan in front of anything, people tend to run
- 5:09Speaker 1: off or tend to think it doesn't taste the same,
- 5:11Speaker 1: or it doesn't it's not going to taste as good.
- 5:14Speaker 1: And right now this is like, this is a vegan, vased,
- 5:16Speaker 1: gluten free, dairy free, and sorry free. Talk about being
- 5:20Speaker 1: able to deliver something I'm eating right now that tastes
- 5:23Speaker 1: so very good, but also overcoming the stigma that if
- 5:27Speaker 1: you go vegan, it will not taste as good. Here's
- 5:31Speaker 1: the thing. I have been on a different diet like
- 5:36Speaker 1: every single day of my life. I was sixteen when
- 5:39Speaker 1: I was put on my very first blood pressure pill,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and I was a woman's size. So I've been on
- 5:45Speaker 1: the keto diet, the cabbage suit diet, raw plant based,
- 5:50Speaker 1: pest caterian, everything you can think of. So I actually
- 5:54Speaker 1: wanted to create a chocolate that would basically fit into
- 5:59Speaker 1: everyone healthy lifestyle. So what it actually is is a
- 6:04Speaker 1: plant based chocolate that supports all healthy lifestyles. You can
- 6:09Speaker 1: be vegan, you can be paleo, you can be whole thirty.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It's soy free, it's gluten free for those who can't
- 6:17Speaker 1: tolerate gluten or or um Ciliacs is soy free, it's
- 6:22Speaker 1: it's non GMO, it's uh made with organic ingredients, it's
- 6:26Speaker 1: single origin, fair trade, and it's being too bar So
- 6:30Speaker 1: this is about really spreading this to everyone, not just vegans. Well,
- 6:36Speaker 1: the thing about it is that I'm gonna be honest
- 6:39Speaker 1: with you. You know when I talk about I'm a
- 6:41Speaker 1: meat either, I'm a guy who goes out there. I
- 6:44Speaker 1: have fallen in with products like Beyond Meat. I love,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I love enjoy my beyond the burger. Now they've got
- 6:50Speaker 1: Beyond Me chicken, so I'm excited about trying that out.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But then we talk about vegan and you talk about vegetarians,
- 6:56Speaker 1: so you know, I really want to get a clarification.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I ran into a friend of my and she went
- 7:00Speaker 1: over to JRS Barbecue, and she said, well, i'm a,
- 7:03Speaker 1: I'm a i'm a I'm a vegetarian. So what's the
- 7:05Speaker 1: difference between a vegan and a vegetarian or is there
- 7:08Speaker 1: or is there a difference there? There is a difference,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and I and I first want to start out by
- 7:14Speaker 1: saying I identify with being plant based. So a vegan
- 7:18Speaker 1: is truly a person who supports animals. I mean it's
- 7:23Speaker 1: it's a movement. So they don't eat anything as it
- 7:27Speaker 1: relates to animal products. They don't wear anything as it
- 7:31Speaker 1: too relates to animal products. They are true animal activists. Um.
- 7:36Speaker 1: They don't even consume honey um because it's produced from bees,
- 7:42Speaker 1: which I don't use honey in my product as well
- 7:44Speaker 1: because I want to make sure it's still supports that
- 7:47Speaker 1: vegan lifestyle. A vegetarian is a non meat eater. However,
- 7:52Speaker 1: they do consume things like cheese, they do consume things
- 7:56Speaker 1: um like eggs, but vegans will not consume dairy. They
- 8:00Speaker 1: will not consume eggs, so there is a difference. And
- 8:03Speaker 1: then there's a pescatarian um, you know, and they eat fish.
- 8:07Speaker 1: So there's so many out there. But the good thing
- 8:10Speaker 1: about Good Girl Chocolate is whichever one you fall in,
- 8:14Speaker 1: whichever bucket you fall in, you can enjoy Good Girl
- 8:17Speaker 1: Chocolate because it's one free of any animal products. It's
- 8:22Speaker 1: finally here the season of celebration, and no matter how
- 8:26Speaker 1: you celebrate with family and friends, whether you're preparing for
- 8:29Speaker 1: reis magos or Karamu lighting the Manura, are going to
- 8:33Speaker 1: midnight mass, Coals has just what you need to make
- 8:36Speaker 1: those traditions special. Plus you'll find gifts for all your
- 8:40Speaker 1: loved ones. Send warm wishes with cozy fleeces, sweaters, loungewear,
- 8:44Speaker 1: blankets and throws. Support minority owned or founded brands by
- 8:48Speaker 1: giving gifts from Human Nation and shame moisture, or treat
- 8:52Speaker 1: them to everyone's favorite active wear from top brands like Nike, Adidas,
- 8:56Speaker 1: and under Armor. And in the spirit of giving Coal
- 9:00Speaker 1: Cares is donating eight million dollars to local nonprofits nationwide
- 9:04Speaker 1: committed to the health and well being of our communities.
- 9:07Speaker 1: No matter how you celebrate, when you shop at Coals,
- 9:10Speaker 1: you're right where you belong. So this season give with
- 9:14Speaker 1: all your heart with great gifts from Coals or Coals
- 9:17Speaker 1: dot com. Hi everyone, i'l roker here as a guy
- 9:20Speaker 1: with his own catchphrase. I appreciate that Smokey's only said
- 9:23Speaker 1: only you can prevent wildfires, but I'm filling in because
- 9:27Speaker 1: there's a lot more to report, like when they're parched
- 9:30Speaker 1: or windy conditions out there. You've gotta be extra careful
- 9:33Speaker 1: with things like burning yard wage. After all, wildfires can
- 9:37Speaker 1: start anywhere, even in your neck of the woods. Go
- 9:40Speaker 1: to Smokey Bear dot com to learn more about wildfire prevention,
- 9:44Speaker 1: brought to you by the U. S. Forest Service, your
- 9:46Speaker 1: state Forrester, and the ad Council. And we're live here
- 9:49Speaker 1: outside the Perez family home, just waiting for the and
- 9:53Speaker 1: there they go, almost on time. This morning. Mom is
- 9:56Speaker 1: coming off the front door strong with a double arm
- 9:58Speaker 1: kid carry looks like dad has the bags. Daughter is
- 10:01Speaker 1: bringing up the rear. Oh, but the diaper bag wasn't closed.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Diapers and toys are everywhere, But Mom has just nailed
- 10:11Speaker 1: the perfect car seat buckle for the toddler. And now
- 10:14Speaker 1: the eldest daughter, who looks to be about nine or ten,
- 10:17Speaker 1: has secured herself in the booster seat. Dad zips the
- 10:20Speaker 1: bad clothes and they're off, but looks like Mom doesn't
- 10:24Speaker 1: realize her coffee cup is still on the roof of
- 10:26Speaker 1: the car, and there it goes. Oh, that's a shame.
- 10:30Speaker 1: That mug was a fan favorite. Don't sweat the small stuff.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Just nailed the big stuff, like making sure your kids
- 10:36Speaker 1: are buckled correctly in the right seat for their agent's eyes.

- 10:40Speaker 1: the Right Seat visits n h s A dot gov
- 10:44Speaker 1: slash the Right Seat Brought to you by NITZA and
- 10:47Speaker 1: the ad Council. Well, you know, interesting thing about your brand.
- 10:49Speaker 1: You know, I know we're talking about the Google chocolate
- 10:51Speaker 1: brand right now, but you, as a person has always
- 10:54Speaker 1: been about uplifting individuals, especially empowering female. You did the
- 10:58Speaker 1: book Believe and Toy the seventeen with My Girl, Kim
- 11:01Speaker 1: Cole's actress Fame of Living Single. About to open your gifts?
- 11:06Speaker 1: G I. F. T S twenty two lessons on Finding
- 11:08Speaker 1: and Embracing your personal power. We find so much that
- 11:12Speaker 1: is so much in the forefront of conversation, right personal
- 11:14Speaker 1: power uher leading with your gifts, leading with your passions.
- 11:18Speaker 1: What what is the book about? Why did you feel
- 11:22Speaker 1: the need to do a book? And then you did
- 11:24Speaker 1: a book with a did the book with a very
- 11:26Speaker 1: very funny actress named Kim Cole's. So, I I want
- 11:31Speaker 1: to know the basis of your whole structure of of
- 11:35Speaker 1: empowering people. Why is it so important to empower because,
- 11:37Speaker 1: like you said, at the age of sixteen, you own
- 11:40Speaker 1: blood pressure pills, so right there, that means that you
- 11:43Speaker 1: are the point of your life where you need to
- 11:45Speaker 1: be empowered, both physically mentally. It had to be an
- 11:49Speaker 1: understanding that it was all right you were beautiful as
- 11:52Speaker 1: you are. Nobody needed to tell you how you look
- 11:55Speaker 1: to be special and things like that. So talk about
- 11:58Speaker 1: the whole empowerment and embracing your personal personal power. I
- 12:03Speaker 1: tell you what this is actually the book right here.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I don't know if you can sit, but and it
- 12:09Speaker 1: was it was so important, and Kim is a dear,
- 12:12Speaker 1: dear friend of mine, And it was so important to
- 12:16Speaker 1: write this chapter because I know there are women out
- 12:20Speaker 1: there that are going through the same things that I
- 12:24Speaker 1: went through. And the name of my chapter is about triumph.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And the name of the chapter is are you ready
- 12:29Speaker 1: to free yourself? And let me just read you the
- 12:31Speaker 1: first sentence. It says, I'm free. I'm finally free. That's
- 12:36Speaker 1: two sentences. Actually, are you ready to free yourself? And
- 12:39Speaker 1: triumph from weight challenges, from hormone challenges, from fibroids, from CIS,
- 12:44Speaker 1: from lack of energy, from blood pressure challenges, from blood
- 12:48Speaker 1: sugar challenges. These are all the things that affected me.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I remember that day when I was at the doctor's
- 12:55Speaker 1: office and she said that she was putting me on
- 12:58Speaker 1: a blood pressure pill. And I asked her, Okay, why,
- 13:02Speaker 1: you know, why do I have to take medicine? I'm sixteen?
- 13:04Speaker 1: And she said, so you don't have a stroke at
- 13:08Speaker 1: the age of thirty. And you know, when I look back,
- 13:14Speaker 1: you know, I I come from the South, and we
- 13:17Speaker 1: come from you know, a family of just rich cooking
- 13:19Speaker 1: rich foods. Uh. You know, we cook with fat back
- 13:23Speaker 1: and pork and bacon and things like that. And when
- 13:25Speaker 1: I looked back, there was an opportunity there to figure
- 13:30Speaker 1: out why was a sixteen year old having blood pressure problems.
- 13:36Speaker 1: You know, it couldn't be clog dotteries. You know, I
- 13:38Speaker 1: wasn't old enough. But because things did not change, by
- 13:43Speaker 1: the time I was thirty, I was on three different
- 13:47Speaker 1: blood pressure pills. And when you are a large child,
- 13:51Speaker 1: um when you're getting teased about your weight, being almost
- 13:55Speaker 1: three hundred pounds, being on blood pressure pills, that affects
- 13:59Speaker 1: you and and that that just carries on into your adulthood.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Um So, the self doubt, the lack of confidence, all
- 14:09Speaker 1: of that carried on into my adulthood. I majored in
- 14:13Speaker 1: pre med I ended up getting a masters in health administration.
- 14:16Speaker 1: But I did not go into the medical field because
- 14:20Speaker 1: I felt like a hypocrite. I felt like someone you know,
- 14:24Speaker 1: I can't tell anyone how to eat and how to live,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and here I am three pounds. So I actually ended
- 14:30Speaker 1: up working for a technology company for eleven years before
- 14:35Speaker 1: I really started having panic attacks and hormone problems. And
- 14:40Speaker 1: it was the hormone problems and being on a cycle
- 14:42Speaker 1: for three months that really really made me realize and say, Okay,
- 14:47Speaker 1: enough is enough. I have got to deal with this
- 14:50Speaker 1: because I want kids. And my grandmother, my mother, my aunt,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I had cousins all have hysterectomies before the age of
- 15:01Speaker 1: forty and they had kids, you know, and so of
- 15:04Speaker 1: course they just followed their doctor's words and you know,
- 15:08Speaker 1: telling them, Okay, we need to have a hys direct
- 15:11Speaker 1: to me. But I didn't want my options taken away
- 15:15Speaker 1: from me. And that's why I said, Okay, I need
- 15:18Speaker 1: to go back to the roots. I need to go
- 15:20Speaker 1: back to natural health. And within thirty days because my
- 15:24Speaker 1: doctor basically suggested to me surgery or more medication to
- 15:28Speaker 1: fix my hormone problems. And within thirty days of natural
- 15:33Speaker 1: health and researching it myself, um, I stopped the cycle.
- 15:38Speaker 1: And I ended up losing over eighty pounds. And that's
- 15:43Speaker 1: when I actually went back to school to study nature
- 15:47Speaker 1: apathy because there are so many of women in our community.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I'm suffering from the estrogen dominance, suffering from the fibroids,
- 15:55Speaker 1: the cysts, the blood pressure, the blood sugar and and
- 15:59Speaker 1: I want to let women know through this book that
- 16:02Speaker 1: there is hope, there's another way. Now that doesn't mean
- 16:07Speaker 1: that you can one percent get off all of your medication.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Fortunately enough, I was able to but it took some work.
- 16:16Speaker 1: It took exercise, I mean a complete lifestyle change for me.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Adoption of teens from foster care is a topic not
- 16:25Speaker 1: enough people know about, and we're here to change that.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I'm April Denuity, host of the new podcast Navigating Adoption,
- 16:31Speaker 1: presented by adopt us Kids. Each episode brings you compelling,

- 16:54Speaker 1: you could be me for just one hour, If you
- 16:56Speaker 1: could find a way to get inside each other's mom
- 17:00Speaker 1: walk a mile in my shoes, Waco mile in my
- 17:03Speaker 1: shoes Shoes. We've all felt left out, and for some
- 17:08Speaker 1: that feeling lasts more than a moment. We can change that.

- 17:22Speaker 1: Look for your children's eyes to see the true magic
- 17:25Speaker 1: of a forest. It's a storybook world for them. You
- 17:29Speaker 1: look and see a tree, They see the wrinkled face
- 17:32Speaker 1: of a wizard with arms outstretched to the sky. They
- 17:35Speaker 1: see treasure and pebbles, They see a windy path that
- 17:39Speaker 1: could lead to adventure, and they see you. They're fearless. Guide.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Is this fascinating world? Find a forest near you and
- 17:46Speaker 1: start exploring and discover the forest dot Org brought to
- 17:49Speaker 1: you by the United States Forest Service and the ad Council.
- 17:53Speaker 1: So when if somebody said ook a complete lifestyle change,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and now, how do we tie Good Girl Chocolate into
- 17:59Speaker 1: their Because when people here to work Good Girl Chocolate,
- 18:01Speaker 1: they hear sweets, they hear fact, they hear weight gain,
- 18:06Speaker 1: all those things. And so that's why I wanted the
- 18:08Speaker 1: people to hear your story. Because when we when we
- 18:10Speaker 1: go on these journeys and I'm able to do on
- 18:12Speaker 1: my show money making conversations, I like to be able
- 18:14Speaker 1: to tie things together and why there is a purpose
- 18:18Speaker 1: behind the actual creation of this product. Now, let's talk
- 18:21Speaker 1: about the evolution of Good Girl Chocolate. From the conversation
- 18:25Speaker 1: we just had about your journey of being a sixteen
- 18:28Speaker 1: year old nearly through edger pounds being bullied, being ostracized,
- 18:33Speaker 1: and then your family history with all your relatives or
- 18:37Speaker 1: nearly an age of forty uh and not and you
- 18:40Speaker 1: also wanted to have a normal life. Talk about that,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and then into good Girl chocolate. And I think the
- 18:46Speaker 1: journey of our conversation would have a certain motivational tone
- 18:50Speaker 1: to it and as well as a product that we
- 18:53Speaker 1: all should buy. Are all considered buying m absolutely so. So,
- 19:00Speaker 1: like I said, I have been on a diet every
- 19:02Speaker 1: single day of my life, a different diet every year
- 19:05Speaker 1: of my life. And one year, over ten years ago,
- 19:08Speaker 1: I decided to go raw. And of course, when you're
- 19:12Speaker 1: on a raw diet, you know you don't eat meat
- 19:15Speaker 1: unless you're gonna eat it raw. Uh. You know, you
- 19:17Speaker 1: don't eat cheese and dairy and things like that. So
- 19:21Speaker 1: it was a truly raw diet. And I said, okay,
- 19:24Speaker 1: you know I need something sweet to eat, you know,
- 19:27Speaker 1: to really wash down all the raw food. I'm telling you,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I'm telling you those raw diets they are good in theory,
- 19:35Speaker 1: but you gotta have something to get rid of that taste,
- 19:38Speaker 1: thank you, Yes you do. So I started making raw chocolate.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I mean seriously, I would melt down cocoa butter at
- 19:46Speaker 1: a hundred and twelve degrees because when you dehydrate your
- 19:49Speaker 1: food on a raw diet, you have to keep it
- 19:51Speaker 1: at that one hundred twelve degree temperature, so it's still
- 19:54Speaker 1: um is a raw food. But I would melt down
- 19:56Speaker 1: my cocoa butter, you know, mixing my cocoal powders and
- 20:00Speaker 1: and coconut oils, and I would use organic raw agavey
- 20:04Speaker 1: and all of this to mix up this chocolate. I
- 20:07Speaker 1: brought bought equipment to mold the chocolate and it just
- 20:11Speaker 1: started from there. And I kept this chocolate to myself
- 20:15Speaker 1: for years. My mom loved it, and she was like,
- 20:17Speaker 1: you know what, you need to spread this chocolate to
- 20:20Speaker 1: the world. Let her okay. So back in two seventeen,
- 20:28Speaker 1: I went to the Texas Women's Conference and applied to
- 20:33Speaker 1: present in front of QBC, and the food buyer loved
- 20:40Speaker 1: the chocolate and she said, was actually like the best
- 20:44Speaker 1: chocolate um or plant based chocolate that shit ever tasted.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And that was my confirmation that I'm onto something. I
- 20:54Speaker 1: ended up quitting my my technology job and started my
- 20:58Speaker 1: own business, and by the time ten rolled around, I
- 21:03Speaker 1: was online. I had my own packaging, and I was
- 21:06Speaker 1: selling good Girl chocolate. But it's called good Girl chocolate
- 21:10Speaker 1: because you can eat it every single day and still
- 21:14Speaker 1: say you've been good. So it's about clean eating. It
- 21:19Speaker 1: doesn't have the hydrogenated oils in it. The sugar that
- 21:23Speaker 1: I use is coconut sugar. It doesn't have table sugar
- 21:27Speaker 1: in it. It's free from gluten, it's free from soy.
- 21:30Speaker 1: It's single origin, it's fair trade, so the workers are
- 21:34Speaker 1: treated equally, and we make it ourselves. So it takes
- 21:38Speaker 1: four days. That brownie batter bar that you're eating, it
- 21:41Speaker 1: takes four days to make that chocolate because we actually
- 21:44Speaker 1: roast the beans ourselves and we put it into our
- 21:48Speaker 1: grinders and we grind the beans. We grind the coke chocolate.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Keep talking, Good Girl Flying George chocolate. Come on, now,
- 21:56Speaker 1: that's right, and it is the best chocolate ever. And
- 22:01Speaker 1: let me tell you, if that one is too sweet
- 22:03Speaker 1: for you, then I'll put you in the semi sweet.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I love being able to figure out what people like,
- 22:09Speaker 1: from the seventy percent dart to the dark to the
- 22:13Speaker 1: thirty four percent dark, and just really enjoying chocolate. You know,
- 22:18Speaker 1: we have one life to live, and I believe in
- 22:21Speaker 1: the room anyway. Um, you know you eat clean eighty
- 22:26Speaker 1: percent of your your your life. But that because we
- 22:30Speaker 1: have first days, we have Christmas Is, we have Thanksgiving,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and let me tell you, I get down during those days.
- 22:36Speaker 1: But clean, Dr Vin, I just had gallbladder servery surgery.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You know, my gallbladder removement. What forty of course that's
- 22:45Speaker 1: when you usually the symptoms of having a gallbladder issue.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Now me, even good girl chocolate should be a good thing, right,
- 22:54Speaker 1: So let me tell you this. Everything in moderation. And
- 22:59Speaker 1: as a natural apathic doctor, I do have to tell you, Um,
- 23:03Speaker 1: when you do not have a gall bladder, it's harder
- 23:07Speaker 1: for you to digest bats. And that's why for all
- 23:10Speaker 1: of my clients I recommend a food enzyme that has
- 23:15Speaker 1: life paste in it because life paste actually helps you
- 23:18Speaker 1: digest bats. But everything, no matter what you're eating, whether
- 23:23Speaker 1: it's the beyond sausager meat that we're talking about, you know,
- 23:27Speaker 1: eat everything in moderation. Just because it's plant base doesn't
- 23:31Speaker 1: mean that you should be eating a whole wagon full
- 23:34Speaker 1: of it. A potato chip is plant based, but you
- 23:37Speaker 1: shouldn't eat the whole. However, a big bag of them
- 23:41Speaker 1: right right, And that's me. And as I tell one
- 23:43Speaker 1: of those people, I eat out of control. Like when
- 23:45Speaker 1: you said, Roche, you can eat this every day? I went, okay,
- 23:49Speaker 1: But you need to get the whole story before you
- 23:52Speaker 1: start just jumping into the wagon and having a party
- 23:55Speaker 1: and destroying all the good things that can happen in
- 23:57Speaker 1: your life by misinterpreting what you're trying to say in
- 24:01Speaker 1: this interview or want anybody's ever trying to say. It's
- 24:04Speaker 1: about moderation. Weight loss is bout moderation. Uh, living a
- 24:08Speaker 1: comfortable life is moderation. They always tell you, don't overdrink,
- 24:11Speaker 1: don't overparted, don't ever overdo it, don't over exercise, can
- 24:15Speaker 1: lease the knee injuries, pulled muscles. You know people out
- 24:18Speaker 1: there they want to become young in a day by
- 24:21Speaker 1: going into the gym and trying to run a mile
- 24:23Speaker 1: when they only should be walking a mile instead of
- 24:25Speaker 1: running the mile. And so the whole the whole purpose
- 24:29Speaker 1: of when I look at the whole platform of what
- 24:31Speaker 1: you've done with Good Girl Chocolate is tied to good
- 24:34Speaker 1: health and good healthy lifestyle, with moderation and a product
- 24:39Speaker 1: that allows you to eat I'll never used the word
- 24:41Speaker 1: healthy and and mislead people. But this is a naturally Sweden.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It is vegan based, and it's free of gluten, dairy
- 24:50Speaker 1: and story and it's made with our GMOs. That's pretty
- 24:53Speaker 1: good to me, doctor, Thank you, And I want to
- 24:57Speaker 1: pay you back on what you just said. Don't you
- 25:00Speaker 1: is the term healthy and and and I don't. I
- 25:03Speaker 1: don't say, oh, I have a healthy chocolate. What I
- 25:08Speaker 1: do is I say I have a chocolate that supports
- 25:12Speaker 1: this lifestyle that's free of the gluten, the soy, you know,
- 25:18Speaker 1: the dairy is supporting the vegan, the paleo and the
- 25:20Speaker 1: whole thirty lifestyle. And it's sweetened with coconut sugar which
- 25:26Speaker 1: is a lower life steamake sugar. And while we're at it,
- 25:29Speaker 1: we also have sugar free. Um. One of the things
- 25:32Speaker 1: that my my diabetics are my keto's told me. They said, hey, um,
- 25:37Speaker 1: you know, Dr T we really want something free of sugar.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I understand you have the coconut sugar in it, but
- 25:43Speaker 1: we want something sugar free. So we also have a
- 25:46Speaker 1: sugar free chocolate that has zyla tool from Birch which
- 25:50Speaker 1: is the best of the best when it comes to
- 25:52Speaker 1: alternative sweeteners for UM, the diabetic community, and for the
- 25:57Speaker 1: keto community Oklahoma, and the Good Girl Chocolate it's based
- 26:02Speaker 1: in Oklahoma. You just opened to a rick and mortar
- 26:05Speaker 1: in the Pin Square Mall in Oklahoma, and now Dr
- 26:08Speaker 1: T let's talk about some good things that had happened
- 26:10Speaker 1: that made you smile. Uh. You know Beyonce once said
- 26:14Speaker 1: she came to your rescue, but bore her brand really
- 26:16Speaker 1: came in and put some love on you, isn't it Really,
- 26:20Speaker 1: It's not really about the amount of money she gave you.
- 26:22Speaker 1: It's the brand association. Don't you agree? Absolutely, it's it's
- 26:27Speaker 1: it's just and first of all that that it just
- 26:31Speaker 1: felt so good. I didn't receive an email or anything.
- 26:34Speaker 1: It was posted on social media who the grant recipients were,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and I saw my chocolate and let me tell you
- 26:43Speaker 1: that I think I cried. I'm serious, I was crying
- 26:48Speaker 1: because it was just so I felt so much overwhelming
- 26:54Speaker 1: joy from seeing that and knowing that I'm on to something,
- 27:00Speaker 1: I'm doing something right. You know, when I was invited
- 27:03Speaker 1: to UM the Grammys Gifting Suite, you know, they tasted
- 27:08Speaker 1: it first and said, hey, I, we really don't like
- 27:11Speaker 1: healthy chocolate. But your chocolate is awesome, your energy is great.
- 27:15Speaker 1: We definitely want you here. It's just been confirmation after
- 27:19Speaker 1: confirmation and being the first permanently black owned business in
- 27:26Speaker 1: my local mall. Oh man, you I'm just I'm just
- 27:30Speaker 1: full of joy. I'm very very very grateful, and I'm
- 27:35Speaker 1: just excited. I just celebrated a birthday to this past weekend.
- 27:38Speaker 1: We've been over open a week so it was like
- 27:41Speaker 1: the perfect birthday gift to me. Well, let's let's let's
- 27:44Speaker 1: go and talk about you know, being the first of
- 27:46Speaker 1: anything is tied to pressure because you can't be the
- 27:50Speaker 1: first to close, you know, the first, So that means
- 27:53Speaker 1: that you have to endure uh, you know, internal mental um,
- 27:57Speaker 1: sometimes depression. You have to deal with being in an
- 28:01Speaker 1: environment that people can surround you positive people and also
- 28:05Speaker 1: surround yourself with people who understand your dream. Talk about
- 28:08Speaker 1: your network of people who support you and also who
- 28:11Speaker 1: have enabled you to get to where you are today
- 28:13Speaker 1: with good Girl chocolate. You know, I tell you I
- 28:17Speaker 1: I would be remissed if I didn't say my parents first.
- 28:22Speaker 1: When it comes to support, they are my number one supporters.
- 28:27Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, right now, it's so hard
- 28:30Speaker 1: to find people to work right now, and my parents
- 28:36Speaker 1: who are retired, have stepped up and have been helping
- 28:40Speaker 1: me in the store you know this past week. Keep
- 28:43Speaker 1: things together. But I believe your network is very important.
- 28:49Speaker 1: You know, there's that saying your your network is your
- 28:52Speaker 1: net worth, but it really really is about building relationships. Um.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I am an out like half alpha woman, and you know,
- 29:03Speaker 1: I have a network from my sorority sisters, you know,
- 29:06Speaker 1: who came together and supported me my first you know
- 29:09Speaker 1: week open, you already know my my good friend Kim
- 29:13Speaker 1: Cole's you know, she has definitely opened up some amazing,
- 29:17Speaker 1: amazing doors for me. But it's really about relationships. You know.
- 29:23Speaker 1: I think your character and who you are is very
- 29:27Speaker 1: important and people are going to see that. People are
- 29:30Speaker 1: going to see that uniqueness about you. And I'm I'm
- 29:34Speaker 1: a believer. I believe in God. Um. God is first
- 29:38Speaker 1: in my life. And I've just been so blessed with
- 29:42Speaker 1: people who love me, people who have embraced me, people
- 29:46Speaker 1: who have helped me get to where I am today.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I am truly grateful. I went through the Oklahoma City
- 29:53Speaker 1: Thunder Accelerator program here in Oklahoma City, and I came
- 29:57Speaker 1: out with my first investor. And it was that investor
- 30:01Speaker 1: who helped me because I had to totally redo this
- 30:04Speaker 1: store in Penn Square Mall, from drop ceilings to electrical
- 30:08Speaker 1: to equipment. That's that's fifteen tho dollars a piece. Um,
- 30:13Speaker 1: So all of that costs money. And I'm just excited.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I'm excited about the growth. I'm excited about the wholesale
- 30:21Speaker 1: opportunities that are out there that have approached me. Um.
- 30:25Speaker 1: It's just an exciting time. UM. I'm thinking about opening
- 30:29Speaker 1: up for another investor fund fund here in the fall.
- 30:33Speaker 1: And it's just it's truly about relationships. And I'm excited
- 30:38Speaker 1: about sitting here with you, uh, talking to you and
- 30:42Speaker 1: on your show. And I appreciate the opportunity and thank
- 30:44Speaker 1: you so much from the bottom of my heart. Well,
- 30:46Speaker 1: thank you for this good girl chocolate. First of all,
- 30:48Speaker 1: that's gonna be real. It's a it's a selfish motivation. Here.
- 30:52Speaker 1: You give me something good, I gotta talk to you
- 30:53Speaker 1: about how good it is. And it's really I can't
- 30:56Speaker 1: wait to get in this little this little bag of
- 30:59Speaker 1: true right here, the little couple with those pecan nuts.
- 31:02Speaker 1: This is gonna be my favorite. Let me tell you
- 31:05Speaker 1: that Pecan fudge. I don't know if we can even
- 31:08Speaker 1: let you dig if you can't dig in on it
- 31:10Speaker 1: on the show, But that Pecan fudge truffle that's in
- 31:14Speaker 1: that box, that's probably gonna be your favorite because I
- 31:19Speaker 1: know you. But you know a rich over with Sean,
- 31:22Speaker 1: you know in morsels and in moderation. So I'm working
- 31:27Speaker 1: on this. I k't immediately bust open this little package here,
- 31:30Speaker 1: especially just just wrapping up surgery. But more importantly, I
- 31:33Speaker 1: just wanted to tell your story. I just you know,
- 31:36Speaker 1: it's there's always a great story. That's always that the
- 31:38Speaker 1: product is fantastic. Let's let's move past that. But what
- 31:42Speaker 1: made that product a reality? And the reality is through
- 31:45Speaker 1: personal triumph. A reality is trying to change not only
- 31:49Speaker 1: your lives but other people alive through your empowerment. And
- 31:51Speaker 1: it started with your with your book. It's started with
- 31:54Speaker 1: sixteen years old. It started with you not accepting the
- 31:57Speaker 1: fact that this is going to be your life and
- 31:58Speaker 1: you didn't want it to be your life life. It
- 32:00Speaker 1: started through your education. It started through you realizing that
- 32:03Speaker 1: the way you look was limited your dreams and you
- 32:05Speaker 1: have to change that. But more importantly, Dr Car, Your
- 32:08Speaker 1: your product is amazing. Don't let the word vegan run
- 32:11Speaker 1: you away from this product. It is what it is,
- 32:14Speaker 1: but it's uh, it's it's for you. It tastes good.
- 32:17Speaker 1: Everybody knows I'm a dessert nut. I am a foodie.
- 32:20Speaker 1: When I say something that's good, and you should stamp
- 32:23Speaker 1: that as a reality. I do not allow people to
- 32:25Speaker 1: come on my show and then, you know, eat their
- 32:27Speaker 1: food and then go around the corner and spread it out.
- 32:29Speaker 1: That's not how it works on money Making Conversation. This
- 32:32Speaker 1: is fantastic and I will be dying on this this weekend.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Thank you very much for coming to the show. Dr Car,
- 32:40Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Thank you so much for the
- 32:42Speaker 1: opportunity I have enjoyed this time. I love talking about
- 32:46Speaker 1: health and wellness. I love talking about good girl chocolate,
- 32:49Speaker 1: and I love to inspire and empower women. Well you
- 32:52Speaker 1: did it all in this interview. I would like to
- 32:54Speaker 1: believe we hit all those touch We had all those
