- 1:49Speaker 1: hear from my man, Rashan McDonald money Making Conversations. Here's
- 1:54Speaker 1: always good to have an intro this Rashan McDonald. I'm
- 1:57Speaker 1: the host of money making conversation. It's always good to
- 1:59Speaker 1: have people say things nice about you, but they have
- 2:02Speaker 1: three real things. I always played then, Uh it's called hype.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Can the hype be uh? Real? Can the hype be
- 2:08Speaker 1: defined as a course of action that allows you to
- 2:10Speaker 1: give advice to other people so they can follow you?
- 2:12Speaker 1: My next as owners of First Down real Estate Group,
- 2:16Speaker 1: They're an innovative real estate company that truly goes the
- 2:19Speaker 1: extra yard for their clients. They offer. They offer a
- 2:23Speaker 1: no upfront, out of pocket partnership renovation on your home
- 2:26Speaker 1: to maximize the potential resale. They have skilled professional realtors
- 2:30Speaker 1: that are ready to work hard finding or selling a
- 2:32Speaker 1: home for your family. They're also giving you an opportunity
- 2:36Speaker 1: to invest with a flipping team for very liquid, lucrative returns.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I want you to welcome to show three individuals. The
- 2:42Speaker 1: first is D'Angelo Hall, the second is John Aberatory, and
- 2:46Speaker 1: the third is Mohammed was singh. Hopefully I got those
- 2:49Speaker 1: names right. If I messed them up, please correct me again. Guys,
- 2:52Speaker 1: Welcome to money making Conversations. Did I mess up anybody's name?
- 3:00Speaker 1: John is John? What? John? What? John? Alvatar? How are
- 3:05Speaker 1: you going? Avatar. How don't great thank you for coming
- 3:08Speaker 1: of coming to my show. First of all, Um, you
- 3:10Speaker 1: see this on TV all the time. I'm in Atlantic,
- 3:14Speaker 1: I live in Houston. I travel a lot of these
- 3:16Speaker 1: commercial attimes. Flip a home, flip a home. Come to
- 3:19Speaker 1: this seminar. We make money. You you don't have to work,
- 3:22Speaker 1: call in you can get make money. I got friends
- 3:23Speaker 1: who called me from North Carolina trying to give me
- 3:26Speaker 1: the invest in the flipping homes. Why is this such
- 3:28Speaker 1: a big deal, a big opportunity. Well, when it comes
- 3:36Speaker 1: to real estate, if you if you, if you definitely
- 3:39Speaker 1: have a platform to find the properties at the right
- 3:41Speaker 1: price and are able to go in and you know,
- 3:44Speaker 1: remodel and flip out them. There's definitely a good profit
- 3:47Speaker 1: profit margin. Uh. You just have to make sure you
- 3:50Speaker 1: know what you're doing. Um. As far as the process,
- 3:53Speaker 1: that's very important. I think the buying aspect of it
- 3:56Speaker 1: is the most important. To you give yourself room, Uh,
- 4:00Speaker 1: the proper repairs and uh set up that platform to
- 4:03Speaker 1: sell it. Cool. Now, listen, let me got three individuals.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Let me just introduce everyone. D'Angelo. He's a partner and
- 4:10Speaker 1: consultant and First Down Real Estate Group then you have
- 4:13Speaker 1: John is a partner in marketing for First State First
- 4:16Speaker 1: First Down real Estate Group. And then you have Mohammed
- 4:20Speaker 1: is the managing partner in principal broker for First Down
- 4:22Speaker 1: Real Estate Group. So D'Angelo background, incredible NFL star at cornerback,
- 4:29Speaker 1: A big fan of yours of course over the years
- 4:31Speaker 1: watching you play. How did you get involved as a
- 4:34Speaker 1: consultant for First Down Real Estate Group? Yeah? I actually
- 4:38Speaker 1: met John, um, just by chance through one of our
- 4:42Speaker 1: one of our mutual friends who were you know it
- 4:45Speaker 1: was also a ball player, and you know, me and
- 4:48Speaker 1: John just kind of hit it off. You know. I
- 4:49Speaker 1: met John to kind of help me do some some
- 4:52Speaker 1: other things, and you know, the more, the more and
- 4:55Speaker 1: more I was around him, and the more and more
- 4:57Speaker 1: we got to talk, and you know, we were kind
- 4:58Speaker 1: of you know, very like mine and um, you know,
- 5:01Speaker 1: when John kind of came to came to me with
- 5:03Speaker 1: this idea, UM and I met Mo, I was like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: oh man, absolutely kind of felt like a brotherhood, felt
- 5:10Speaker 1: like a family, and so um, all three of us
- 5:12Speaker 1: hit it off, and um, you know we uh, you know,
- 5:15Speaker 1: we put our brains together and started this company. Okay. Cool, Now,
- 5:19Speaker 1: when you how old is the company and where is
- 5:21Speaker 1: it based? John, I'm gonna share conversational based. So Donzel
- 5:25Speaker 1: just spoke so John, he met you, then met Mo.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I'm just showed your name. Mo. I'm in the family now.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Um so. So, so with that being said, you know
- 5:37Speaker 1: you want to start a company, you have individuals, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: you have decision makers. Where did you did you guys
- 5:41Speaker 1: have an office somewhere in Virginia or where where? Give
- 5:45Speaker 1: me some infrastructure? Yeah, we're we're actually based out of Alexandria, Virginia.
- 5:52Speaker 1: There and so we're just the basic structure. You do,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you have an eight to five? How does it work?
- 5:59Speaker 1: Because because you're doing a lot of things here, you're saying, uh,
- 6:01Speaker 1: you innovative real estate company that truly goes to extra
- 6:04Speaker 1: yard for their clients. What does that mean when you
- 6:06Speaker 1: say that? So So, originally we came into this one
- 6:11Speaker 1: to really focus on the brokerage side of it and
- 6:13Speaker 1: do flips on the side, you know, fasters in private money.
- 6:17Speaker 1: But what happened is the flips kind of took over
- 6:20Speaker 1: because we started getting so many properties and interesting that
- 6:24Speaker 1: that we wanted to set up that structure. And then
- 6:27Speaker 1: this year we we set that up. Now we're kind
- 6:29Speaker 1: of gonna focus on the brokerage end of it with standards,
- 6:32Speaker 1: selling and listing. So this year is going to be
- 6:36Speaker 1: the more in inf in office operations. So we're setting
- 6:40Speaker 1: all that up right now. So with that being said,
- 6:43Speaker 1: flipping homes are buying homes. Do you guys go out
- 6:46Speaker 1: on your own line service? Do you physically go out
- 6:48Speaker 1: looking at these homes? You go out of physically scouting
- 6:50Speaker 1: these homes? How does they work with your company? So
- 6:54Speaker 1: I don't know, did you guys get MO on the
- 6:56Speaker 1: line yet? Yeah? Long here? Now how you doing? They
- 7:02Speaker 1: said you couldn't talk earlier, That's why I didn't bring
- 7:04Speaker 1: up your name. Welcome to the show Money Making Conversations.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I'm a host, ro Sean McDonald. Welcome, my friend, Thank you. Um.
- 7:12Speaker 1: But yeah, so far as finding the homes, we have
- 7:14Speaker 1: different avenues of finding them, uh, anywhere from local people
- 7:18Speaker 1: scouting it from all the way to directly from banks. Uh.
- 7:23Speaker 1: We often tend to get them prior to the prior
- 7:25Speaker 1: of them hitting the auction. That kind of gives us
- 7:28Speaker 1: the edge over competitive you know market out here. Okay,
- 7:33Speaker 1: so I would tell you my first home. I bought
- 7:36Speaker 1: was I was a home. I bought it auction, okay,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and and I went there and I bid on it,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and uh, that was my first home and it was
- 7:44Speaker 1: a great deal, you know, and I got into it.
- 7:47Speaker 1: So now I see people and I and it was
- 7:50Speaker 1: just listed. You can buy. You can buy all the
- 7:51Speaker 1: home and you can buy them and then you can
- 7:53Speaker 1: fix them up a little bit and you can flip them.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Is that what you guys are doing or how does
- 7:58Speaker 1: your business model work? Or is it something you have
- 8:01Speaker 1: a franchise eventually or is something just gonna be at Alexandria.
- 8:04Speaker 1: You three guys are just gonna gonna build the franchise
- 8:07Speaker 1: out of that. What what? What's the future of this
- 8:09Speaker 1: this format? The future of this, I believe is, uh, well,
- 8:13Speaker 1: we have a big aspect of this from the broken
- 8:15Speaker 1: side helping people buy and sell homes. Um so that's
- 8:19Speaker 1: something we're also focusing on a lot. But a big
- 8:22Speaker 1: portion of that is, you know, flipping homes as well.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And right now, as you mentioned, you know, you would
- 8:29Speaker 1: purchased the home that's online, so we're doing something similar.
- 8:32Speaker 1: But again, before the public gets to actually see these homes,
- 8:37Speaker 1: we tend to sometimes get listings before they actually go
- 8:40Speaker 1: to that auction. So what you see sometimes we'll probably
- 8:44Speaker 1: get that first and if we don't want it at
- 8:46Speaker 1: that point, it ends up in public auctions. Okay, so
- 8:50Speaker 1: you get you get the first look. Yeah, exactly. So
- 8:53Speaker 1: we have a private VFP investor list that we often
- 8:56Speaker 1: get so we can kind of scalp through it and
- 8:59Speaker 1: we'll know some just make sense what doesn't. So we
- 9:01Speaker 1: don't never check up anything that we know is uh,
- 9:05Speaker 1: it's not really going to be looked at it far
- 9:07Speaker 1: us in terms of but we're we always make sure
- 9:10Speaker 1: all of our numbers are safe. But I just want
- 9:12Speaker 1: to break into the real estate business, So that do
- 9:14Speaker 1: you want to take over? How I broke into Rishan.
- 9:17Speaker 1: When I bought my first house, the builder kind of
- 9:19Speaker 1: approached me like, hey, you know, especially being an athlete,
- 9:22Speaker 1: you get a lot of guys come up to you
- 9:23Speaker 1: about deals, and um, you know, for me, real estate
- 9:26Speaker 1: kind of made sense because it was something, something attainable,
- 9:29Speaker 1: something you can physically put your hands on. Um. And
- 9:33Speaker 1: so even if you quote unquote didn't sell the house,
- 9:36Speaker 1: you still had something of value kind of sitting there
- 9:40Speaker 1: and so um, you know, I've always gravitated towards real estate. UM,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I still own a bunch of land now, and you know,
- 9:48Speaker 1: it's just something for me that that I feel like
- 9:50Speaker 1: we'll always appreciate and no one's making any more land.
- 9:55Speaker 1: That's what that's God's you know that. Yeah, and that
- 10:00Speaker 1: that's the true point of this. And so so the
- 10:02Speaker 1: thing that I want to make sure that everybody understand
- 10:04Speaker 1: my first our real estate group is that first of all,
- 10:07Speaker 1: you based in the Auditton, Virginia area, and this is
- 10:10Speaker 1: a this is a business that cares about the clients
- 10:12Speaker 1: that come to them. Correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: we want to treat it as a partnership. Um. You know,
- 10:19Speaker 1: another aspect of what we do, it's say you're a
- 10:22Speaker 1: you know, you're a homeowner, and you know you have
- 10:24Speaker 1: a house that you could probably sell right now, but
- 10:28Speaker 1: you wouldn't get get as much money as if you
- 10:30Speaker 1: could go in there and redo that home and actually
- 10:33Speaker 1: get get what you could get what the market says
- 10:36Speaker 1: you should get for that home, but you just don't
- 10:38Speaker 1: have the financial means to to go in there and
- 10:41Speaker 1: put that kind of money down into the home. We're
- 10:43Speaker 1: the kind of company that will partner up with you
- 10:46Speaker 1: you keep the home in your name, will go in
- 10:48Speaker 1: do the repairs and then we'll we'll help you maximize
- 10:52Speaker 1: the value of that home and sell it and you
- 10:54Speaker 1: make money, we make money, and so um. You know,
- 10:57Speaker 1: it's you know, it really is a partnership with our lines,
- 11:00Speaker 1: and you know, we want their home to be um,
- 11:03Speaker 1: you know, as as nice of the other investment for
- 11:07Speaker 1: them as it was when they initially bought it. For
- 11:09Speaker 1: the next person. That that's that's important. Like for this
- 11:12Speaker 1: little things that you can do. Paint your house, fix
- 11:15Speaker 1: your landscape. You know, everybody knows. You renovate that bathroom
- 11:18Speaker 1: in that kitchen, that can upgrade the pricing. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 1: just the bathroom of the kitchen. That's that's the two
- 11:26Speaker 1: elements you make them look good. You can put a
- 11:28Speaker 1: couple of thousands on that price tag when you do
- 11:30Speaker 1: those two things. Now here's the part about it. Do
- 11:33Speaker 1: you guys go out there and do it yourself or
- 11:35Speaker 1: you hired companies to do it? When you talk about
- 11:37Speaker 1: that renovation, that's a that's a question for John right there,
- 11:42Speaker 1: because John kind of runs the construction side of things.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Construction company. Y'all sound like a TV show man, Come
- 11:48Speaker 1: on now. Sound like a TV show, you know, Dangelo,
- 11:51Speaker 1: You're the mouthpiece. You're the mouthpiece. Joe and your constructions,
- 11:55Speaker 1: okay and more you you finances. That's how it works
- 11:58Speaker 1: here as that works. Man, mess with the role, dude, Man,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I do TV shows and be looking for y'all. Put
- 12:08Speaker 1: y'all on TV. Man, I tell you put y'all on TV.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Look me out little. Yeah. To answer the question, we
- 12:17Speaker 1: do have. We do have several crews that we send
- 12:19Speaker 1: into the arms and in the signum to a particular
- 12:23Speaker 1: crew depending on what the gope for work is. But yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 1: we do send our contractors and other professional contractors and
- 12:29Speaker 1: know how to do everything from A to Z and
- 12:32Speaker 1: then we come in afterwards and in such process make
- 12:35Speaker 1: sure everything looks. I love the standards. I love this.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I love this, you know because I called. The phone
- 12:41Speaker 1: call just became a very short interview. Could I bring
- 12:44Speaker 1: you guys back on the show and we do it right.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I have an office in l A and in d C.
- 12:49Speaker 1: And I'm gonna be in d d I'm in d
- 12:51Speaker 1: C every week. Can I come by and see you
- 12:52Speaker 1: guys personally? Oh? Absolutely, give me a call. What we'll
- 12:58Speaker 1: set it up and we'll link up. Okay, cool, Thank
- 13:00Speaker 1: you for this call. We're gonna talk again. I'm gonna
- 13:02Speaker 1: see you maybe in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna
- 13:04Speaker 1: come down. Your offer's grape. We'll be right back with
- 13:13Speaker 1: more from Marcia McDonald and money making conversations. Don't touch
- 13:16Speaker 1: that down. Texting and rules for recurring automated marketing text

- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm so blessed about my life that I'm The things
- 14:30Speaker 1: that I'm doing in my life are the things that
- 14:32Speaker 1: I want to do a lot of times you're doing
- 14:34Speaker 1: things in life. You're working a job that you don't
- 14:35Speaker 1: want to do. And I said, I've done things I
- 14:37Speaker 1: did not want to do. But at some point in
- 14:39Speaker 1: life you have to do the things that you want
- 14:41Speaker 1: to do, things that you make you happy, and they
- 14:43Speaker 1: make you get up out of bed. They make you
- 14:45Speaker 1: inspired to say, I can't wait till the morrow comes.
- 14:48Speaker 1: That's what I do when I go to sleep. I
- 14:50Speaker 1: get up because I know I have a function that's
- 14:53Speaker 1: about me. Uh, And that's what I created money Making
- 14:56Speaker 1: Conversation to give people advice to to talk about model
- 15:00Speaker 1: life and let them know that I'm just a regular guy.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I'm just a regular guy that took advantage and still
- 15:05Speaker 1: taking advantage of the blessings that God has giving him
- 15:08Speaker 1: every day and can be a sheep can give you.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Don't letally think it's just a male thing or as
- 15:13Speaker 1: a uh educated thing. You gotta have money things. It's
- 15:17Speaker 1: an effort thing. It's an effort thing. But more importantly,
- 15:20Speaker 1: it's one day waking up and realizing it's my time too.
- 15:24Speaker 1: It's my time too. It's my time to be able
- 15:26Speaker 1: to step out there and deliver the opportunities that are
- 15:28Speaker 1: being presented to me every day. Because I'm gonna tell
- 15:30Speaker 1: you something. People who are successful, I will tell you this,
- 15:33Speaker 1: people tell them all the time they questioned, they say,
- 15:37Speaker 1: why don't you doing this? Why should you be doing this?
- 15:39Speaker 1: You should be doing this. You're capable of doing more.
- 15:41Speaker 1: It's you that are stopping you. My next guest, longtime friend,
- 15:46Speaker 1: this is somebody that uh we both have seen each
- 15:48Speaker 1: other grow. Uh. She's born in Holly Springs. I gotta

- 16:35Speaker 1: thought head claps and uh no, I told, we don't

- 16:47Speaker 1: special sick? And you got what said? You know you
- 16:55Speaker 1: can say whatever, but you know, just no, no, no,
- 16:58Speaker 1: no no words that U me give me, give me
- 17:00Speaker 1: a little show taken off there. But what I can
- 17:02Speaker 1: tell you now we can't cuss on the era. You know,
- 17:05Speaker 1: we know don't serious, exam. But we on we're on
- 17:09Speaker 1: free radio, free radio, did you hear me, Amena. Let's
- 17:15Speaker 1: we go way back. We go way back to Steve Hardy,
- 17:18Speaker 1: way back Dallas, Steve Harvey, way back one one, all
- 17:23Speaker 1: the way back, all the way back there. And I
- 17:27Speaker 1: always saw a talented young lady. And you're still a
- 17:31Speaker 1: talented young lady. Thank and then and then uh, because
- 17:34Speaker 1: you just break our singing and you go Brishana. You
- 17:37Speaker 1: were so encouraging back there. I was, Um, I was
- 17:42Speaker 1: a personal assistant, and I just watched your expertise and
- 17:47Speaker 1: just watched how you handled all of the business or
- 17:50Speaker 1: handled the business. And I was inspired. And I knew
- 17:53Speaker 1: that I, you know, had an inkling for acting, but
- 17:56Speaker 1: I had been burnt so much and got out of
- 18:00Speaker 1: the business. And that just said, you know what, this
- 18:02Speaker 1: is not for me. Let me just assist some people.
- 18:04Speaker 1: And that's that I went over there. I started working
- 18:06Speaker 1: at Wendy rock Hill's School, Amazing Grace Concernatory in California,
- 18:11Speaker 1: and and I was a personal assistant for Mr Harvey
- 18:15Speaker 1: and Mrs Harvey and um, and I just had a
- 18:18Speaker 1: great time doing that. I was the Minister of Music
- 18:21Speaker 1: at my church and I just said, this is where
- 18:23Speaker 1: I'm going to be for the rest. And then I
- 18:26Speaker 1: went to a Winston Salem, North Carolina, and and I
- 18:30Speaker 1: was doing a favor for somebody. I was in a
- 18:32Speaker 1: place for about ten minutes and Mr Perry was there,
- 18:35Speaker 1: and that man came through and I was just like,
- 18:37Speaker 1: what a man is a church? Now I'm good. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: was just gonna stay all over it with Steve. Now,
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm good. Thank you know, Mr Barry, And he was like, no,
- 18:45Speaker 1: I really want you to be a part of it.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I enjoyed your performance. And I said okay. And then
- 18:49Speaker 1: one of my preacher friends intervening and said, a food
- 18:52Speaker 1: they made us calling you, and you're not gonna go out.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I was like, no, no, I'm good. She said, hey,
- 18:57Speaker 1: you've got a miss God. I called Mr Perry and
- 18:59Speaker 1: tooth out before Rashawn and I've been rolling with that
- 19:02Speaker 1: man ever since. I know when I tell you he
- 19:04Speaker 1: is a quickening. That's what I referred to him. Man,
- 19:07Speaker 1: He's a quickening. And that is just simply when you
- 19:10Speaker 1: are dead and lying dormant and you need something to
- 19:13Speaker 1: just jolt you and bring you back to life. That
- 19:16Speaker 1: is what Tyler Peary did for me, and he just
- 19:18Speaker 1: really reinfirmed and reinstated my whole belief in acting and
- 19:23Speaker 1: performing and being before people. And I knew I had
- 19:28Speaker 1: a gift, you know, to be before people only because
- 19:31Speaker 1: I didn't need, uh, the accolades, and I don't I
- 19:34Speaker 1: don't need someone to glorify me. I just really like
- 19:37Speaker 1: doing what I'm doing, and I like making people laugh
- 19:40Speaker 1: and I love having fun. And Mr Pearer just came
- 19:43Speaker 1: in right on time because just he's just awesome and
- 19:46Speaker 1: so I had a great time. And uh when I
- 19:49Speaker 1: with him in two thousand four and I've been working
- 19:51Speaker 1: with him ever since. And I heard you say Madia
- 19:53Speaker 1: Family Funeral, Family Reunion, but it's really Madia's Family Funeral.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Dear family Funeral. I hunt that's coming out March one,
- 20:01Speaker 1: and um, it is hilarious. And uh, my whole ride
- 20:06Speaker 1: with Mr Perry has just been beautiful. I mean, my
- 20:10Speaker 1: ride with What's What's Mr Steve was great. And Michelle
- 20:15Speaker 1: has just taught me so much and so I just
- 20:18Speaker 1: appreciate all of you. Let me let mesk you this
- 20:21Speaker 1: Cassie on the phone with Cassie Davis want an incredible
- 20:24Speaker 1: talents you've seen her face, Yester Davis pattern Rashwan. You
- 20:26Speaker 1: don't know that I'm married. I married my high school sweetheart.
- 20:31Speaker 1: You know that. Ain't that ain't d that, ain't into
- 20:33Speaker 1: They ain't end as a bio point. You need a
- 20:37Speaker 1: bad you know I'm saying, and put that first. You
- 20:39Speaker 1: know the little patterns right there, ain't nothing that sixty
- 20:42Speaker 1: and nothing. It wasn't on my portal or nothing. Happily
- 20:46Speaker 1: Marriagy said, happily man that the last name was it
- 20:50Speaker 1: A D t O N A t O ny baby. Yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 1: I met him. Look, I've known him since third grade.
- 20:56Speaker 1: He was reading to the class in first grade. Yes, sir,
- 21:00Speaker 1: it's the metropolis of Holly Springs. Yes, daddy, Oh yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I have versus this solid as a rock. I'm love,
- 21:10Speaker 1: I mean love, been in love me just cat because
- 21:14Speaker 1: because I know her, I know her, you know she
- 21:16Speaker 1: she she was content when she's talking about being his
- 21:19Speaker 1: sister minister of music. She thought that was her life.
- 21:23Speaker 1: But now as that you are famous, you know that, Emma, Yeah,
- 21:27Speaker 1: you know your famous people. I need to get an Instagram,
- 21:30Speaker 1: I need to get facebooks, I need to get some
- 21:32Speaker 1: I need some young people around me. Teach me back
- 21:34Speaker 1: and now that because they need to go bout typewriter.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I got them. I can tell you about typewriter. Keys
- 21:39Speaker 1: don't know about typewriter. But I need help with all
- 21:41Speaker 1: this Instagram and social media group that's new for me,
- 21:45Speaker 1: you know. But I tell you, um, I'm not on
- 21:48Speaker 1: it and that's not really active in the social you know.
- 21:52Speaker 1: But um, these young people that but but but I
- 21:55Speaker 1: still reach lots of people. And I'm in an airport
- 21:59Speaker 1: right now because we're on tour with Tyler's Farewell but
- 22:03Speaker 1: Dia played tour and I'm going from Columbia, South Carolina
- 22:07Speaker 1: to Memphis, Tennessee. If you know about Memphis, like I'm
- 22:11Speaker 1: a suburb of suburb of He's a suburb suburb of Memphis, Tennessee,
- 22:18Speaker 1: the booming metropolis of Holly Springs, miss Until I'm on
- 22:22Speaker 1: my way home to be with my people, and I'm
- 22:25Speaker 1: excited with Sean's good. Yeah. Absolutely me this because of
- 22:29Speaker 1: the fact that when you when you talk about live stage,
- 22:33Speaker 1: that's what you're on a live stage tour. And then
- 22:35Speaker 1: you've done television and you've done many films what you
- 22:39Speaker 1: like the most because you're a comedian, you're a comedian
- 22:41Speaker 1: now and at hard you are a singing comedian. Thank
- 22:46Speaker 1: you give me a definition of this thing called life.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I don't know, Richard. I'll let me tell you. I
- 22:52Speaker 1: enjoy each medium. I really do live data. There's nothing
- 22:57Speaker 1: better than just you know. You know what's amazing to
- 22:59Speaker 1: me is that these theaters, ten thousand people in one setting,
- 23:04Speaker 1: all strangers, not knowing each other, but they're laughing at
- 23:07Speaker 1: the same time, um, crying at the same time, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: they're enjoying Medea. They enjoyed Tylerperia. They're coming out because
- 23:16Speaker 1: of Tyliperia. Now my job to me is as Mr
- 23:19Speaker 1: Perious pleased, and I've done my job. But when those
- 23:22Speaker 1: people come out and I have to come out for
- 23:25Speaker 1: a curtain call and they're they're rooting and cheering and
- 23:28Speaker 1: screaming and clapping for me, it is just um unbelievable.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Because you know, Rashan, you know, I don't have any
- 23:36Speaker 1: acting classes. I've never had and you know, and I
- 23:39Speaker 1: don't have that agent and manager. So I sometimes I
- 23:42Speaker 1: feel like I'm an illegitimate actress or actor. But I
- 23:47Speaker 1: still serve the same God that that just surpasses all
- 23:51Speaker 1: of the norms and all of the things that are
- 23:53Speaker 1: natural or supposed to be done. But he I like
- 23:56Speaker 1: my testimony, so um and A it's an honest testim easy,
- 24:03Speaker 1: it really really really is. And you say I'm famous
- 24:07Speaker 1: in and sometimes I sometimes I believe it because um,
- 24:12Speaker 1: because of all the people that that greet me, you know,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and they're just like, is that you do? You know
- 24:17Speaker 1: who you are? And I'm not like, no, well you
- 24:20Speaker 1: know what I do? What I don't think you do something?
- 24:23Speaker 1: You're The funny point about you, I'm gonna tell you
- 24:25Speaker 1: this about you, is that because she's so humble, she
- 24:28Speaker 1: really really is so humble. And so if she so
- 24:32Speaker 1: when she walks in a certain people, I'm telling you,
- 24:35Speaker 1: when you start talking about her resume, let's star power
- 24:38Speaker 1: tied to it, that's recognition tied to it. So what
- 24:41Speaker 1: happens is when people walk up to her, she's so humble,
- 24:44Speaker 1: you question, that's the star You go, nah, Now she'd
- 24:48Speaker 1: be acting a little bit different. What the bodyguards that well,
- 24:52Speaker 1: that can't be her sitting over there in that chair
- 24:54Speaker 1: by herself. That can't be her a Chick fil A.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I can't believe that's her. So that's what that's what
- 25:02Speaker 1: people out because of the fact that so they come
- 25:04Speaker 1: over with you and they go are you They always
- 25:06Speaker 1: they would lead to the right, are you who you do?
- 25:09Speaker 1: You know who you remind me of? And I just
- 25:12Speaker 1: said to I, really I would do you like her? Yeah?
- 25:16Speaker 1: We love her? Oh well, then this is a compliment listening,
- 25:19Speaker 1: that's that going to say, sure you know that's me.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Get don't out of here, you know that's me. And
- 25:24Speaker 1: so it's really a beautiful, beautiful riding I get to meet.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Oh but with television and movies, um, you know, those
- 25:32Speaker 1: things go way way way across the seas, and to
- 25:36Speaker 1: be in Jamaica somewhere trying to have a vacation and
- 25:38Speaker 1: and there are people with those beautiful accents saying, oh
- 25:41Speaker 1: they good. I don't make me. I can't do the
- 25:44Speaker 1: accents up right, I'm about to mess up, you know,
- 25:48Speaker 1: from missipping. So but they're but they're so excited Rashan
- 25:52Speaker 1: and and their their messages that Mr Perry um gives
- 25:57Speaker 1: it that that blesses people's lives and can tea used
- 26:00Speaker 1: to motivate people and keep them dreaming and you know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: keep them full of life. And you know, sometimes people
- 26:06Speaker 1: come up and say, my grandmother used to watch you
- 26:10Speaker 1: and um, and I just watched how much joy you
- 26:12Speaker 1: guys brought her. And some of them have passed away.
- 26:15Speaker 1: And then it's just I mean like we had to
- 26:16Speaker 1: make a wish. Young lady come out and she knew
- 26:19Speaker 1: all of our lives. She couldn't really talk very well,
- 26:22Speaker 1: but you know, she was standing there in front of
- 26:24Speaker 1: me and talking and saying, I'm damn, I know your
- 26:27Speaker 1: lives and I know this and that, and they're repeating
- 26:29Speaker 1: those things and that stuff. Man, you can't buy that.
- 26:33Speaker 1: It's just a beautiful moment. It's a wonderful, wonderful thing
- 26:37Speaker 1: to be a part of. Yes, you're still amazing. The
- 26:40Speaker 1: movie Tyler Paris badea family reunion. His theaters watched first. Um,
- 26:46Speaker 1: you wanted the stars. You also on the road. Uh,
- 26:49Speaker 1: please keep winning, and I want to thank you. Two
- 26:52Speaker 1: thousand and eight, you graduated, two thousand nine, you walk,
- 26:55Speaker 1: two thousand and seventeen, you got married. But the man
- 26:58Speaker 1: twenty years later, this got it right. Now. You live
- 27:01Speaker 1: in a balance life, but more importantly, you affect everybody's
- 27:04Speaker 1: live positively. Every day. You smile, young ladies smiling. Okay,

- 29:16Speaker 1: Bashan McDonald will use his business and celebrity relationships to
- 29:20Speaker 1: empower small businesses with information to succeed. I have a
- 29:31Speaker 1: lot to talk about with my next guest today. She
- 29:34Speaker 1: is an Emmy Award winning TV and film producer and entrepreneur.
- 29:39Speaker 1: She is currently producing a very hot show of BT
- 29:42Speaker 1: entitled Games Diva's Play, a sexy stylized drama about the
- 29:46Speaker 1: high stakes world of the NBA from the female perspective.
- 29:50Speaker 1: She has a very popular lifestyle, health and wellness website
- 29:55Speaker 1: called all Right Now, All right now dot com. Please
- 29:58Speaker 1: welcome to money Making Conversation because I helped our lunch
- 30:01Speaker 1: all right now dot com. Tracy Evonts you sure do?
- 30:06Speaker 1: They thank you for having me back on. It's always
- 30:11Speaker 1: so much fun to talk to you. Well, it's great,
- 30:13Speaker 1: first of all. Always a fan of just just you
- 30:16Speaker 1: as a mentor to women in general, your leader. Uh,
- 30:21Speaker 1: nothing but great things come up when they talk about
- 30:23Speaker 1: your brand and the brand that you consistently promote and
- 30:27Speaker 1: get out there with quality shows. And I think that's
- 30:29Speaker 1: really the key with you is quality, right, And that's
- 30:31Speaker 1: the point of view that you you you strive for correct, Well,
- 30:35Speaker 1: you know absolutely, And I was gonna say, Um, by
- 30:37Speaker 1: the way, we changed and we updated the name of
- 30:40Speaker 1: our show, it's all Games People Play now, Okay, cool?
- 30:44Speaker 1: But yeah, but you're right because it was based on
- 30:45Speaker 1: the book Games Diva's Play and Bert Murder right exactly
- 30:50Speaker 1: exactly as editor as My Girl. Now that's my girl too.
- 30:54Speaker 1: And this is the second project that that we've done together.
- 30:57Speaker 1: So we did another movie for Lifetime, the one called
- 30:59Speaker 1: With This Spring that was based on her first book.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Right here we go again. Um, but yeah, Rishan, You're
- 31:08Speaker 1: absolutely right. It's like it's all about you know, quality control,
- 31:12Speaker 1: you know everything that you do, every project that I
- 31:15Speaker 1: work on, and you know, paying attention to detail on everything.
- 31:20Speaker 1: And so for me as a producer, I'm hands on.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I'm not phoning it in. There are a lot of
- 31:26Speaker 1: people that you'll see in Hollywood that will put their
- 31:29Speaker 1: name on a show. Um, and networks will pay people
- 31:33Speaker 1: to executive produce and especially celebrities and put their name
- 31:36Speaker 1: on a show. They'll get a check, but they're not
- 31:38Speaker 1: involved in the production at all. And you know, I'm
- 31:41Speaker 1: quite the opposite. I'm like, they're you know, picking wardrobe,
- 31:47Speaker 1: you know, approving hair and makeup, you know, interviewing the directors,
- 31:53Speaker 1: interviewing the department heads, you know, giving script notes, giving
- 31:58Speaker 1: editorial notes. You know. I will be involved in all
- 32:01Speaker 1: the marketing and promotion you know as well, but you know,
- 32:04Speaker 1: quality control over everything that I put my name on.
- 32:06Speaker 1: It is really really important because I want I wanted
- 32:09Speaker 1: to be the best, and I want people to be
- 32:11Speaker 1: excited about what they're watching. And that's important because I'm
- 32:14Speaker 1: gonna just tell everybody that's generally what happens with all
- 32:17Speaker 1: the big producers. And she falls in line with the
- 32:20Speaker 1: big producers or I'm talking about J. J. Abrahams and
- 32:22Speaker 1: all these individuals, and that's why they tend to see
- 32:25Speaker 1: the same nothing negative about They will care the same producers,
- 32:29Speaker 1: same quality people on and sometimes they care the same
- 32:32Speaker 1: actors and actresses to different projects. And that's called relationship. People.
- 32:36Speaker 1: You can trust people understand your direction. They won't be
- 32:40Speaker 1: sitting over the tripping, won't come out to trailer when
- 32:42Speaker 1: they told him come out to trailer when we're talking
- 32:44Speaker 1: about I got a ride, I need black jelly beans
- 32:46Speaker 1: only this is this is, this is why you get
- 32:51Speaker 1: shows done correctly, she laughing. You don't tell the truth,
- 32:53Speaker 1: and now you are. It's so funny, but you know
- 32:56Speaker 1: what we I am so blessed and it's like that,
- 32:59Speaker 1: you know, with this project, and you know the other
- 33:01Speaker 1: movies and shows that I've worked on, I honestly can
- 33:04Speaker 1: say I've never had like any of the diva demands
- 33:07Speaker 1: that you read about everybody. It's always one love. We're
- 33:12Speaker 1: always we operate like family, and and that's true, you
- 33:15Speaker 1: know with this cast. You know, you know, Lauren London
- 33:18Speaker 1: has become like my little sister. She's our she's our
- 33:22Speaker 1: Vanessa King. And you know Parker mckinnem posey, you know,
- 33:26Speaker 1: she's another beautiful actress, is one of our co leagues.
- 33:29Speaker 1: And you guys are gonna remember her because she was
- 33:31Speaker 1: on the TV show My Wife and Kids and she
- 33:33Speaker 1: was a wild girl. You have all grown up now
- 33:36Speaker 1: and so um Karen Obel Um, you know she's our
- 33:40Speaker 1: third female lead. She's awesome. She's our little chocolate princess.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Just gorgeous, gorgeous girl. And um, and I love me
- 33:47Speaker 1: some sharonas Jackson. You know who's playing Marcus King, ur
- 33:51Speaker 1: NBA baller who you know has some some cheating issues
- 33:55Speaker 1: and he's awesome. Jackie Long Um, he's playing are Marcus
- 34:03Speaker 1: King's best friend Kareem who went to college with him,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and and Jackie and I have known each other as
- 34:08Speaker 1: friends for years and we've been like dying to work
- 34:10Speaker 1: together and some things. So we're finally doing this, um,
- 34:13Speaker 1: but we've got some, you know, also some great supporting casts.
- 34:16Speaker 1: You know, Barry Brewers, a stand up comedian and this
- 34:20Speaker 1: is his first real role on a TV show and
- 34:22Speaker 1: he's killing it. Kendall Kendall who a lot of people
- 34:26Speaker 1: may follow from social media. He's got a huge Instagram following.
- 34:30Speaker 1: This is his first role as well. Um, and then
- 34:34Speaker 1: you know Vanessa Bell Calloway's on the show. Van that's
- 34:37Speaker 1: a sent veteran. So we've got a really fun cast
- 34:43Speaker 1: and it's really shows in there. Now let me ask
- 34:45Speaker 1: you this, So, uh, Angela Burt Murray, who I know
- 34:50Speaker 1: many years with Essence and then she left Essence to
- 34:53Speaker 1: pursue a writing career, and now this is the second
- 34:56Speaker 1: project that you're doing with the name of the TV
- 34:58Speaker 1: show is called Games People Play, but is derived from
- 35:01Speaker 1: the book Games. Diva's Play helped me. What is about
- 35:05Speaker 1: her concept of her creative balance that works with you?
- 35:09Speaker 1: You know what both of us. Um. You know, I'll
- 35:13Speaker 1: just say both of us a our industry veterans. Like
- 35:16Speaker 1: I mean, I've known Angela for years, you know, when
- 35:18Speaker 1: she was the editor of Essence magazine. You know, Angela
- 35:22Speaker 1: started those Essence women luncheons and you know, it was
- 35:25Speaker 1: responsible for the Essence music, fast and stuff. So you know,
- 35:28Speaker 1: you're talking to a really really bright visionary. And so
- 35:33Speaker 1: when Angela segued into becoming an author and stuff, you know,
- 35:37Speaker 1: she and I remained friends, you know, and carried our
- 35:41Speaker 1: friendship on into doing some business together. And so she
- 35:44Speaker 1: brought to me her book, The Vow, you know, that
- 35:48Speaker 1: she wanted to adapt into a movie, and so The
- 35:50Speaker 1: Vale became with this Ring for Lifetime, and you know,
- 35:55Speaker 1: I just a you know, she's got really strong uh
- 35:59Speaker 1: see email pieces that you know, she's she's great at this,
- 36:03Speaker 1: the soapy drama, the juicy, scandalous stuff in her book,
- 36:08Speaker 1: which makes delicious TV watching, you know. And so and
- 36:13Speaker 1: these characters that she creates, like are so memorable and
- 36:18Speaker 1: diabolical that they you know that they can carry on,
- 36:22Speaker 1: you know, passed the book into a series and you
- 36:24Speaker 1: want to see more and more of what are these
- 36:27Speaker 1: characters going to do next and so um so hence,
- 36:31Speaker 1: you know, she after we did with this rain together,
- 36:33Speaker 1: she's like, Okay, let's let's do my next book. And
- 36:36Speaker 1: so I read Games Diva's play on an airplane and
- 36:41Speaker 1: you know, get it's just like such a fun dive
- 36:43Speaker 1: into this world of the n B. A yeah, and
- 36:47Speaker 1: you know, people are fascinated about what goes on behind
- 36:49Speaker 1: the scenes of the NBA, which is why you go
- 36:52Speaker 1: on social media. And you know when Carmelo and La La,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, we're going through all their drama, you know,
- 36:59Speaker 1: all on from the page. You you may be like
- 37:02Speaker 1: a law and order tone from the actual page. Are
- 37:06Speaker 1: games people play? Yes right now? And then you know
- 37:11Speaker 1: Vanessa Kobe Bryant, you know, so everybody's fascinated by what
- 37:14Speaker 1: goes on in that world, and that's what we're really exploring.
- 37:17Speaker 1: And that's why I was told you. You know, my
- 37:19Speaker 1: staff reached out to you for January to start making
- 37:22Speaker 1: it an annual or a monthly part of my newsletter
- 37:26Speaker 1: because of the fact that you know pre Dominant or
- 37:28Speaker 1: my followers or female and sold over two thirty. I
- 37:32Speaker 1: want them to start seeing it as a part of
- 37:34Speaker 1: my newsletter. On a monthly basis and they start becoming
- 37:37Speaker 1: a clickable the visually a lot of people look at
- 37:40Speaker 1: so what is that? And if you keep showing it
- 37:41Speaker 1: to them, eventually going to click and so know that
- 37:45Speaker 1: you're you're part of my my world, a part of
- 37:47Speaker 1: what I'm trying to change it. And so that all
- 37:49Speaker 1: right now dot com it's gonna go out every morning,
- 37:51Speaker 1: not just the first quarter. When people are pushing social
- 37:54Speaker 1: health change and health awareness and Brandon that get fit
- 37:58Speaker 1: now type philosophy twelve months, twelve times. I'm putting you
- 38:03Speaker 1: out in my news letter. You know what, I didn't
- 38:04Speaker 1: even realize you you were doing that. Thank you so much.
- 38:07Speaker 1: That is like, that's that's part of you know, creating
- 38:09Speaker 1: a movement. And I really appreciate your support. That's awesome. Absolutely,
- 38:13Speaker 1: Before we go, I want to talk about this new
- 38:15Speaker 1: deal at x t X Entertainment. Phillis in on what
- 38:18Speaker 1: that is. Well. S t X is a global multimedia
- 38:22Speaker 1: company and a lot of people don't realize it, but
- 38:24Speaker 1: they S t X is behind some of the biggest
- 38:27Speaker 1: it's the studio and a global studio and they do TV,
- 38:31Speaker 1: they do film, they make video games, they do subscription
- 38:35Speaker 1: channels and they are global, they're all over the world. Um,
- 38:39Speaker 1: they just did a two picture deal with Kevin Hart.
- 38:41Speaker 1: They did his movie Up the Upside I think it
- 38:44Speaker 1: was called, which was the number one movie a few
- 38:45Speaker 1: weeks ago and a hundred million dollars in the box office.
- 38:48Speaker 1: There you go. Yeah, And so I have what's called
- 38:51Speaker 1: the first Look deal with st X and so um
- 38:54Speaker 1: So Edmonds Entertainment, my production company, is in partnership with
- 38:57Speaker 1: s t X now and so I'm actually you know,
- 39:00Speaker 1: to them TV ideas and the scripted non scripted space
- 39:05Speaker 1: movie ideas. St X and I are actually building a
- 39:09Speaker 1: huge uh subscription channel which we haven't announced yet. I
- 39:13Speaker 1: can't can't announce it this yet, but it's something really
- 39:15Speaker 1: groundbreaking in the vein of Netflix, but something with a
- 39:20Speaker 1: specific twist to it and focus to it. Um. But
- 39:24Speaker 1: we're you know, it's it's amazing because the um Robert Simons,
- 39:28Speaker 1: who is the CEO of st X, is really supportive
- 39:31Speaker 1: and it's like having the most amazing playground now to
- 39:35Speaker 1: you know, to explore ideas with. And so it's it's
- 39:38Speaker 1: pretty awesome. Our first project that we're doing together is
- 39:41Speaker 1: you know, games people play they're actually providing production services
- 39:45Speaker 1: for that. Now here's the deal. Recap the show games
- 39:48Speaker 1: to people who are produced by your company. You're executive producing,
- 39:52Speaker 1: got your hands and everything from catering, the casting, to
- 39:55Speaker 1: the to the production and premieres on BT April. All
- 40:00Speaker 1: right now, dot com you already heard my background about
- 40:02Speaker 1: it is in my monthly newsletter. Raean McDonald Morthley newsletter
- 40:06Speaker 1: goes out to two and thirty thousand fans every month. Also,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I need a banner from you and let's keep winning together.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Congratulations on you and Dion being a couple for real,
- 40:17Speaker 1: long term and I love you to death and keep winning.
- 40:20Speaker 1: And you know, whenever you need me, I'm here for you.

- 41:28Speaker 1: to money making Conversations. Uh. It is my show I
- 41:31Speaker 1: created to uh give exposure to small entre entrepreneurs, UH,
- 41:36Speaker 1: celebrity CEOs who were doing things outside of their norm.
- 41:41Speaker 1: The norm thing They deliver information about career planning, motivation,
- 41:44Speaker 1: financial literacy, and how they leave the balance life is
- 41:47Speaker 1: next person I've known for a long time. I have
- 41:51Speaker 1: known it for a long time. But next test joint
- 41:53Speaker 1: forces were with retired NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan
- 41:57Speaker 1: and launched s M, a C entertainment that sports, media
- 42:01Speaker 1: and culture, a multidimensional talent management, music, branding and production company.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Please welcome to Money Making Conversation Constant Swartz Marini. Good
- 42:13Speaker 1: morning or good act is Wow. I'll tell yourself this
- 42:20Speaker 1: is great. This is My staff called me to say, Rischan,
- 42:24Speaker 1: would you like to intertute? It's a constant. The name
- 42:26Speaker 1: sounds for me. Yes, yes, I want the interview. Yes,
- 42:29Speaker 1: I want the interview. How are you doing? I'm so
- 42:33Speaker 1: good and I see it's a Dion Sanders themed morning.
- 42:37Speaker 1: And I'm so happy that Tacy and Dion arngate praise
- 42:41Speaker 1: the Lord at many levels. I love both of them,
- 42:44Speaker 1: and I love them even more together. So I told
- 42:47Speaker 1: him that if you listen to the interview, that's all
- 42:49Speaker 1: I talked about two beautiful people. And uh, you played
- 42:51Speaker 1: important role in Dion's career and now you have I
- 42:54Speaker 1: think now you kind of like if you let let's
- 42:57Speaker 1: let me say this right. You know now you are
- 42:59Speaker 1: a uh you've been a brand maker. Now you kind
- 43:02Speaker 1: of like at the forefront and being recognized as a
- 43:05Speaker 1: talent yourself and producing and you're you're more on the
- 43:09Speaker 1: forefront now will I say that? Am I right when
- 43:11Speaker 1: staying that now? Um? Very regret regrettably, Yes, I'm starting
- 43:17Speaker 1: to come out on the forefront. I think you probably
- 43:21Speaker 1: can relate a little bit like we've been behind the
- 43:23Speaker 1: bees for many years helping you know, architect and craft
- 43:28Speaker 1: even talents with and uh. And I have to give
- 43:31Speaker 1: major props to my talent because they're the ones that
- 43:34Speaker 1: have been kicking me in the behind saying, you know,
- 43:36Speaker 1: you've got to get out there, You've got to get
- 43:38Speaker 1: out there, I think, especially with what's happening in the world,
- 43:41Speaker 1: you know, just with with uh, you know, diversity and
- 43:44Speaker 1: gender equality and and uh. Just just as you can
- 43:48Speaker 1: tell IM stuttering a little bit because I hate talking
- 43:51Speaker 1: about myself. But as someone said to me, you know,
- 43:54Speaker 1: think about how it's helping the people coming after us
- 43:57Speaker 1: as well as you know, our our company, and we
- 44:00Speaker 1: got a lot of young people that work with us
- 44:02Speaker 1: here at SMACK who I just love and respect. And
- 44:04Speaker 1: if it's going to help you know, our business grow
- 44:07Speaker 1: and their careers, and this is sort of what's doing
- 44:09Speaker 1: it so long way to say thank you for having me. Well,
- 44:12Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying, is that that's why I developed
- 44:14Speaker 1: the show. You know, I developed the show and uh
- 44:16Speaker 1: because I couldn't. I could not stop being as they say, famous.
- 44:19Speaker 1: You know, people will find you, people will follow you.
- 44:23Speaker 1: And so either you do two things. You go with flow,
- 44:26Speaker 1: which I decided to go with the flow and build
- 44:29Speaker 1: my brand out and it's becoming an incredibly the next level.
- 44:32Speaker 1: You know. I built it with Steve and then all
- 44:34Speaker 1: of a sudden it took me like a little bit
- 44:36Speaker 1: too nurture and let everybody know that this is what
- 44:38Speaker 1: Sean McDonald's brand. And now it is going growing exponential.
- 44:43Speaker 1: And I feel that's happening to you because, and I'm
- 44:45Speaker 1: gonna tell you this constant, I can tell in your
- 44:47Speaker 1: personality there's a difference, and that's a positive thing because
- 44:52Speaker 1: you know, your energy level when we used to talk
- 44:54Speaker 1: was a little bit low, a little bit different, you know,
- 44:58Speaker 1: and now it's it's it's seems to be bigger, and
- 45:00Speaker 1: it seems to be more more um promotional. And because
- 45:05Speaker 1: you're willing to talk about your success story, your your
- 45:08Speaker 1: your side of the story, which is a very important story.
- 45:11Speaker 1: To be told nowadays. Correct, Thank you? Yeah, I agree,
- 45:15Speaker 1: And I think probably um, as you get older and
- 45:18Speaker 1: have a lot of you know, childs and tribulations and
- 45:21Speaker 1: failures which you can turn into success, it um brings
- 45:24Speaker 1: I think a level of confidence and maybe some calmness.
- 45:28Speaker 1: And you know, this is a big step for me
- 45:30Speaker 1: because I'm going to be fifty in a couple of
- 45:32Speaker 1: weeks and you look fantastic. You know you look fantastic,
- 45:35Speaker 1: right I don't, but thank you for saying it. I'll uh.
- 45:41Speaker 1: I think when I'm fifty in one day, I'm gonna
- 45:43Speaker 1: own it and I'm going to just say the heck
- 45:46Speaker 1: with it and it is what it is. And I
- 45:47Speaker 1: think that's a lot of what transers over into sort
- 45:50Speaker 1: of you know, the business of it all is just
- 45:53Speaker 1: also finding some confidence in your looks too. Is you're
- 45:56Speaker 1: about to turn this milestone birthday. Well, you know, I
- 45:58Speaker 1: did a big video they were viral about not having
- 46:03Speaker 1: age as an excuse. You know that you can do
- 46:05Speaker 1: whatever you want to do, whatever age you are. And
- 46:08Speaker 1: a lot of people when you hit a certain platform
- 46:10Speaker 1: with it's fifty or sixty, they feel there, this is it.
- 46:13Speaker 1: I can't dream anymore. I can't plan anymore. And I
- 46:16Speaker 1: know that when I'm looking at your what you're doing now,
- 46:20Speaker 1: it's the sky's the limit. Now you might be turning fifty,
- 46:24Speaker 1: but wow, you're gonna be busy to your hundred hopefully not.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure out when this retirement plan is
- 46:31Speaker 1: going to happen. It's not gonna you know, it's not.
- 46:35Speaker 1: I know everyone says, who are you kidding? You're not
- 46:37Speaker 1: a lunching uh lady, you know, shopping type of person.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And I know deep down that's the truth. And and
- 46:43Speaker 1: I think you know, spiritually and and just my soul
- 46:47Speaker 1: and my spirit, I definitely don't feel fifty. And I
- 46:50Speaker 1: also think you know that your their truth and what
- 46:52Speaker 1: you're saying is I'm just getting started. Okay, before we
- 46:54Speaker 1: get to the management company, they sent me some recent interviews,
- 46:58Speaker 1: you know, because I could though, And these some of
- 47:01Speaker 1: the titles of the interviews that they said, what is
- 47:03Speaker 1: really like to be a female boss in the male
- 47:05Speaker 1: dominated industry? That was one title, how to make it
- 47:08Speaker 1: as a woman in an NFL, And then the one
- 47:11Speaker 1: I really like is uh uh constant swats Marina on
- 47:15Speaker 1: why she works ten time harder than members of the
- 47:18Speaker 1: Lucky Sparm Club. That's my favorite. That's my favorite. Oh
- 47:27Speaker 1: my goodness. That was one of my first interviews when
- 47:30Speaker 1: I realized that they're always going to pull that one
- 47:33Speaker 1: line out that you don't realize as you're saying, is
- 47:35Speaker 1: that it's a little little polarizing maybe, but it's the truth. Well,
- 47:41Speaker 1: that's why, that's why I got you on the phone,
- 47:44Speaker 1: because of the fact that you know a lot of
- 47:47Speaker 1: it's the device show. It's an informational show. It's a
- 47:49Speaker 1: show about what can you do? And you know, men
- 47:53Speaker 1: dominate this business, and sometimes women, attractive women can be
- 47:58Speaker 1: perceived as just attractive women and you have to fight
- 48:01Speaker 1: even harder to get your voice heard, as you know,
- 48:04Speaker 1: for as you know, you are an attractive young lady
- 48:07Speaker 1: and so and so you can't run from that. But
- 48:09Speaker 1: you also shouldn't be held held uh that is the
- 48:13Speaker 1: negative and be treated a certain way. And what to
- 48:17Speaker 1: me about that journey a little bit of being able
- 48:19Speaker 1: to get your voice in this business because you're still
- 48:21Speaker 1: getting it, just like I'm still getting my voice of
- 48:24Speaker 1: being a female in this business, and you know it's
- 48:26Speaker 1: male dominated. It started for me back in my twenties
- 48:31Speaker 1: when I was at the NFL, and I realized that
- 48:35Speaker 1: a lot of times, because you're saying it you are
- 48:36Speaker 1: an attractive female, people look at you differently. They don't
- 48:39Speaker 1: want to hear what you have to say. Um, nothing
- 48:42Speaker 1: against you know, attractive women that are pursuing, you know,
- 48:45Speaker 1: a business as a cheerleader, which I think is a
- 48:47Speaker 1: very lucrative business. But that wasn't my past. And so
- 48:51Speaker 1: when you just I think looked at differently when you're
- 48:53Speaker 1: trying to be the person that's commanding the room. I
- 48:56Speaker 1: dressed differently. I mean I was wearing clothes a size
- 48:59Speaker 1: too big for me. You know, I wasn't being myself.
- 49:02Speaker 1: I was you know, oversized golf shirts when we're at
- 49:04Speaker 1: our events, because you wanted to be taken seriously. And
- 49:07Speaker 1: I think there was a moment that came where I
- 49:10Speaker 1: had a really successful event and my boss at the
- 49:14Speaker 1: time acknowledged it and started really paying attention to me
- 49:17Speaker 1: and giving me, you know, the confidence and just I
- 49:20Speaker 1: guess the power and the respect to walk into a
- 49:23Speaker 1: room and command that seat at the table. And it
- 49:26Speaker 1: was that defining moment for me where I was like,
- 49:27Speaker 1: you know what, I'm going to show up in my
- 49:29Speaker 1: jeans and my sports coat, like I'm going to show
- 49:32Speaker 1: up at these events and wear my heels and not
- 49:33Speaker 1: worry about being in in flat shoes and baggy khakis.
- 49:37Speaker 1: And it sounds stupid, but mentally it meant so much
- 49:42Speaker 1: to say, this is who I am, and this is
- 49:44Speaker 1: who I'm going to be, and you know, take it
- 49:46Speaker 1: or leave it. Basically, you know, I just didn't believe
- 49:50Speaker 1: that because of the fact that you know, even I
- 49:53Speaker 1: like to dress. And this is not nowhere close to
- 49:57Speaker 1: your conversation, but it is about perception and what people
- 50:00Speaker 1: can say, how are you supposed to look? And when
- 50:02Speaker 1: I was right, I mean my early years of writing,
- 50:04Speaker 1: when everybody will come in blue jeans and T shirt.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I come in a suit or vest or tie, and
- 50:09Speaker 1: they will go, why are you dressing like that? I said,
- 50:10Speaker 1: because I like dressing like that. So people will will say,
- 50:14Speaker 1: there's a standard and the way you're supposed to look
- 50:16Speaker 1: and where you're supposed to act, and it will treat
- 50:18Speaker 1: you accordingly. Well, I fought. I fought in held onto
- 50:21Speaker 1: my values and that's all you're saying. Hold on to
- 50:23Speaker 1: your values, hold on to you oho you are and
- 50:27Speaker 1: you have a career. But if you succumb to the
- 50:30Speaker 1: circumstances what people tell you should look like, or you'd
- 50:33Speaker 1: be comparing, or with what other females think about how
- 50:36Speaker 1: you're moving up the success ladder, then that can hold
- 50:39Speaker 1: you back and cause you to be not not reap
- 50:42Speaker 1: the benefits of your talent. And that's what you said.
- 50:44Speaker 1: You just said, Hey, I this is who I am. Okay,
- 50:48Speaker 1: deal with it, And that's basically what you're saying in
- 50:50Speaker 1: this interview. Correct a thousand percent. You said it's way
- 50:54Speaker 1: more eloquently than I did. But you've got that right,
- 50:56Speaker 1: and you know it's it continues and it still carries on.
- 50:59Speaker 1: And you know, when I was managing Snoop half the time,
- 51:03Speaker 1: you know, I'm dealing with other managers that just assumed
- 51:07Speaker 1: that I was not the person making the decisions. And
- 51:10Speaker 1: in the beginning, I think Snoop didn't think I was serious,
- 51:13Speaker 1: and I'm like, watch, they're not paying any attention to me.
- 51:15Speaker 1: He's like, you're crazy, And sure enough, like there was
- 51:18Speaker 1: we were I forget where we were, but at an
- 51:21Speaker 1: event and someone was pitching him on a big idea
- 51:23Speaker 1: and they just completely ignored me, looked down on me.
- 51:25Speaker 1: So I just walked away from the conversation. And at
- 51:28Speaker 1: the end of it, the guy was like, well, where's
- 51:29Speaker 1: your manager so I can hit him up and you know,
- 51:31Speaker 1: close the deal. And Snoop just started laughing. He said,
- 51:33Speaker 1: you know the woman that was just standing here and
- 51:35Speaker 1: the guy was like mm hmmm, and he said, that's
- 51:37Speaker 1: the manager. Good luck, brother. And I think that's such
- 51:43Speaker 1: a key thing is that I've always had the support
- 51:46Speaker 1: of my clients, you know, whether it's Dion or stray
- 51:49Speaker 1: Hand or Snoop or with Khalifa. I think that's so
- 51:51Speaker 1: important that they're the ones that are just helping because
- 51:54Speaker 1: I say it all the time, Yes women need to
- 51:57Speaker 1: lift women up, but without the support of the men
- 52:00Speaker 1: and we work with, it's a feudal effort. And and
- 52:02Speaker 1: that's the thing something that people are starting to realize
- 52:05Speaker 1: is it's it's good to help each other. Like we
- 52:08Speaker 1: all succeed, we win as a team, we lose as
- 52:10Speaker 1: a team. You know, that's a big ethos for us
- 52:13Speaker 1: here at SMACK is if you don't play your position,
- 52:16Speaker 1: we're not gonna win. And no matter if you're the
- 52:18Speaker 1: person getting someone a coffee or a Starbucks or a tea,
- 52:23Speaker 1: or you're the person that's working on the budget for
- 52:25Speaker 1: the next big television show. Everyone has an important role.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Now let's get to my my favorite part of the interview.
- 52:31Speaker 1: You launched with Michael straighthand clothing Lot and clothing Accessory
- 52:37Speaker 1: with j C. Petty. How did that come about? And
- 52:40Speaker 1: and and tell me the backstory on that. A very
- 52:44Speaker 1: good friend of mine, Arian Romano, who we worked together
- 52:47Speaker 1: at the NFL, works for PVH. And when Strahan started
- 52:52Speaker 1: working on Kelly and Michael, he needed a lot of
- 52:56Speaker 1: suits and ties, and so I went to her and
- 52:59Speaker 1: I said, hey, can you help me out, you know,
- 53:00Speaker 1: with whatever you guys have for him. You know, we'll
- 53:03Speaker 1: figure something out. She said, I can only do the ties,
- 53:06Speaker 1: but let me introduce you to a guy named Richie
- 53:08Speaker 1: Wertzberger over at Peerless, and I'm sure they can work
- 53:11Speaker 1: something out with you guys or some suits. So we
- 53:13Speaker 1: go over there and they couldn't have been nicer. And
- 53:16Speaker 1: you know, Michael and Richie and his father had a
- 53:18Speaker 1: great relationship, and a few I think probably a few
- 53:22Speaker 1: months after it, Richie said to us, listen, um, you
- 53:24Speaker 1: know Michael wear suits so well. Jacy Pennies, Yes he does.
- 53:29Speaker 1: And J. C. Pennies is looking for, um, you know,
- 53:32Speaker 1: expanding in the men's line. And I said, well, who
- 53:35Speaker 1: better than Michael because six days, sometimes seven days a week,
- 53:38Speaker 1: twice a day, this guy's wearing a suit. And we
- 53:41Speaker 1: we met with them, um goll yeah. I think it
- 53:44Speaker 1: was about six years ago. But the timing wasn't right.
- 53:48Speaker 1: And they said, we get it, but we're just not ready.
- 53:50Speaker 1: And we said, we understand, and we're gonna wait, because
- 53:54Speaker 1: who wants to rush into a bad deal. And so
- 53:56Speaker 1: they came back to us about a year later and
- 53:58Speaker 1: they said, let's develop this and we just started with suits,
- 54:02Speaker 1: shirts and ties. And I got to say, and you know,
- 54:05Speaker 1: your boy, he is so hands on with this. Not
- 54:08Speaker 1: one article of clothing that hits the stories that he
- 54:11Speaker 1: hasn't felt the fabric, moved, the zipper, changed the button,
- 54:14Speaker 1: change the fabric. It's you know, authenticity. I mean that's
- 54:19Speaker 1: the key to success, authenticity. If your name's on it,
- 54:22Speaker 1: you better own it, good and bad. He constance. Here's
- 54:25Speaker 1: here's the deal. First of all, we connected, Um, I
- 54:29Speaker 1: want to tell your story more. I hope you have
- 54:31Speaker 1: to hope your time in the future I'm not gonna
- 54:33Speaker 1: bug you next month, but I want to bring you
- 54:35Speaker 1: back on and I would love it. And let's talk
- 54:38Speaker 1: because everybody just stud you was blown away by your story.
- 54:41Speaker 1: Because that's why I wanted to bring you on the show.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Because you're so strong, You're you, You're a dynamic, polite
- 54:47Speaker 1: what I'm saying. You know, you're a tough guy. You
- 54:49Speaker 1: are Ray Donovan, the female version without the murders, and
- 54:58Speaker 1: we got to get you suited up. Do that. Texting
