- 0:23Speaker 1: he likes to share. Now it's time to hear from
- 0:25Speaker 1: my man, Rashan McDonald money making conversations. Here we come.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Come on now. There's a new movie streaming right now
- 0:33Speaker 1: on Netflix. It's Tyler Parris, my man A Fall from Grace.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Here's the storyline. Because I went down to Houston to
- 0:40Speaker 1: see this movie. So let me let me just reel
- 0:42Speaker 1: you guys on it. I was treated very special, very
- 0:44Speaker 1: very special. When I went to South they screening the
- 0:47Speaker 1: characters Grace Waters. His storyline. Grace Waters played by Crystal Fox,
- 0:51Speaker 1: a longtime pillar of her Virginia community. Stay's composed when
- 0:55Speaker 1: that X where's his mistress? Who she called? Having sex?
- 0:58Speaker 1: And her son moves away adults, so we're convincing from
- 1:03Speaker 1: her best friend Sarah played by Felicia Rashard. She tries
- 1:07Speaker 1: putting herself first, It's all about me now, and a
- 1:10Speaker 1: handsome stranger McKay Brooks becomes a surprised second love and
- 1:14Speaker 1: he's very very sexy, by the way, very very sexy.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yet any woman can snap, and Grace's new husband soon
- 1:21Speaker 1: ravages her life, her work, and many say drove her
- 1:25Speaker 1: crazy or near sanity made her, made her, made her
- 1:28Speaker 1: sanity was tested on that point. That's what love can do.
- 1:31Speaker 1: What love got to do? You'll find out in this movie.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Shut It in a sale awaiting trial for his murder race.
- 1:38Speaker 1: His only hope for vindication lives with Jasmine. The attractive
- 1:41Speaker 1: Jasmine Ryan played by the attractive appreciate Well who don't
- 1:46Speaker 1: know nothing, a public defender who always pleads her case,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but for some reason, she wants to take this case
- 1:52Speaker 1: the court, which drives Tyler Parish character crazy. The movie
- 1:57Speaker 1: also co stars Oscar nominee Sincily Tyson and writer director
- 2:01Speaker 1: Tyler Parrott. A far from Grace, It's a mesmerizing thriller
- 2:05Speaker 1: built from unthinkable secret. Here's my tape because I was
- 2:10Speaker 1: in Houston. That's my hometown. Everybody know him from fifth
- 2:13Speaker 1: for Tyler Perry storytelling had me all messed up in
- 2:17Speaker 1: a good way. Here's the money making conversation, interview you've
- 2:20Speaker 1: all been waiting for. Here's the money making conversation I
- 2:23Speaker 1: went down to Houston to get because my man, Tyler
- 2:26Speaker 1: Perry is worth the airline ticket. Please, Tyler Perry, please,
- 2:30Speaker 1: Felicia shar please, Crystal Fox and Brenchia Web money making Conversation.
- 2:36Speaker 1: The interview of a lifetime Okay, cool, great, thank you
- 2:39Speaker 1: for having there. Tyler. I'm afraid of police. I'm afraid
- 2:43Speaker 1: of Crystal Fox. They are okay. I'm not giving away
- 2:46Speaker 1: too much because it's a beautiful movie. You stuck your
- 2:49Speaker 1: foot in this movie. You stuck you know, like the
- 2:51Speaker 1: old people say, just some food and if you stuck
- 2:53Speaker 1: your foot in it. Acting directing in the beginning of
- 2:55Speaker 1: the movie, I thought you were just gonna be a
- 2:57Speaker 1: cameo roll in there, but you played on like I'm
- 3:00Speaker 1: mentoring it and I want to give you too much,
- 3:02Speaker 1: but it felt like with a mentorship type. You know,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you was get your job done, get your job done
- 3:07Speaker 1: type character. Because your character is a public defender. Tell
- 3:11Speaker 1: me about that for a few minutes. I feel like
- 3:14Speaker 1: when I was reading the script, it was just all
- 3:16Speaker 1: there on the page. And Jasmine being a public defender,
- 3:20Speaker 1: she wanted to give her all, but she was defeated already.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Um and of course Rory being the pass that he
- 3:26Speaker 1: is making easy gette and so she had to find
- 3:31Speaker 1: that in her strength and herself. And so it was
- 3:33Speaker 1: a joy to play. Absolutely. The thing I want to
- 3:36Speaker 1: say about Joe character because of the fact that you know,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I've seen you on have and have not, and this
- 3:41Speaker 1: this was a contension. And Tyler was really interesting because
- 3:44Speaker 1: he pushed some of these characters in areas I didn't expect.
- 3:47Speaker 1: So tell me about that. That level of expectation that
- 3:49Speaker 1: he pushed you too in your role, Now that's the
- 3:52Speaker 1: beauty of it. Tyler gave me the script and he
- 3:53Speaker 1: lets me go for and if he's trying to say
- 3:57Speaker 1: or always allows for me to bring what I believe
- 3:59Speaker 1: is in that right. That's what's so awesome about. When
- 4:02Speaker 1: he offers you something, you know he sees that, so
- 4:04Speaker 1: you come in and you just delve in and if
- 4:06Speaker 1: he believes it, he just lets you sell. Grace. Miss
- 4:10Speaker 1: Sarah played by I gotta say Miss for that character.
- 4:15Speaker 1: That was I know who you are. Television world has
- 4:17Speaker 1: laid it out to you can't go too far with
- 4:19Speaker 1: this character. But talk about preparation for that character, talk
- 4:24Speaker 1: about the lens that you went to extend what he
- 4:27Speaker 1: wanted from that character for this particular movie, A Fall
- 4:29Speaker 1: from Grace. Yes, she well. What was important for this
- 4:33Speaker 1: character was to be true in every moment, every single moment,
- 4:36Speaker 1: whatever that moment was was real. She was real in
- 4:40Speaker 1: every moment. But you were misleading it at times. As
- 4:43Speaker 1: far as the relationship. That's that's beside the points now
- 4:51Speaker 1: you were in the case say too much because in
- 4:53Speaker 1: the beginning of your character, your character plays out of
- 4:55Speaker 1: this person. You know, everybody felt that you can I
- 4:58Speaker 1: say this like a joke. You've been a lawyer, was
- 5:01Speaker 1: a joke and and then nobody respected you so that
- 5:04Speaker 1: that means they gave you an arc in the movie.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And how did that feel for you? I mean, well,
- 5:10Speaker 1: being looked at usually as a comedic actress, you don't
- 5:13Speaker 1: really get to play and I love that you You
- 5:15Speaker 1: don't usually get to play a multi layer character in
- 5:18Speaker 1: that way that you can show the various sides of
- 5:22Speaker 1: a woman and how she is trying to balance her
- 5:25Speaker 1: her personal life and her work life and being defeated
- 5:29Speaker 1: when she comes home from work. So, like I said,
- 5:31Speaker 1: everything was on the page, and Tyler just gave us
- 5:35Speaker 1: free will to go in and really developed these characters
- 5:38Speaker 1: in an honest way, But no character. I know they're saying,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you've given them free wid they gave you. You You gave
- 5:43Speaker 1: a free will the developed the character. But you have
- 5:45Speaker 1: you know what you wrote and let your comedic. You know,
- 5:49Speaker 1: first Lady TV, you know haven't happened all these characters
- 5:53Speaker 1: that I've seen shifted in disrections from their career that
- 5:56Speaker 1: they led up to that point. But you cast some
- 5:59Speaker 1: these rules. Why no? I just first of all, Crystal
- 6:02Speaker 1: had not had a shot to be a leading role
- 6:04Speaker 1: or leading in a leading role, a leading lady, and
- 6:06Speaker 1: I thought it's high time forty years in the business,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and I was so excited to do that for her graduation.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Cast Brisa against type not commonly cast her in the
- 6:15Speaker 1: dramatically and acrimony. She did a couple small roles that
- 6:21Speaker 1: were amazing. And then I add Sinceily Tyson and Miss
- 6:23Speaker 1: Felicia's shot to round out this level of talent. It
- 6:26Speaker 1: was just it was incredible for me. Well, I'm gonna
- 6:28Speaker 1: tell you something. I laughed. I was mad. People nextually
- 6:31Speaker 1: hitting me. You know, we go to a black movie
- 6:34Speaker 1: when they started getting Yeah, it's a good shot. People
- 6:37Speaker 1: still up in the end, Tyler, you did, you did? Really?
- 6:42Speaker 1: You know? You know you have a fan. You know
- 6:44Speaker 1: now your Netflix tell us about that journey for your brain. Well,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I I filmed this movie. It wasn't originally with Netflix.
- 6:51Speaker 1: I just filmed it and I was gonna just shop
- 6:53Speaker 1: it and see where it was gonna land. But they
- 6:54Speaker 1: came right away. Yeah, They're like, come on, we got
- 6:57Speaker 1: we gotta have it. And I gotta tell you, it's
- 6:59Speaker 1: been the most diverse a group of people I've ever
- 7:01Speaker 1: worked with this so anything I've done in the Hollywood.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So I'm really excited about working you know. I know now,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you know they they take some of these movies to
- 7:07Speaker 1: theaters and they put them back on and I'm gonna
- 7:09Speaker 1: tell you some some nominations to do for some of
- 7:12Speaker 1: these characters in this movie. I was very impressed with
- 7:15Speaker 1: the whole process and watching you build out this whole
- 7:18Speaker 1: concept of allowing you to make looking at your character
- 7:22Speaker 1: grace looking joke your character Jasmine, your character Miss Sarah,
- 7:26Speaker 1: and bled and I was confused. You know, I'm a writer,
- 7:30Speaker 1: probably writing television a long time, and when you can
- 7:32Speaker 1: take a guy like me and I'm going kind of
- 7:34Speaker 1: frustrated in a good way because I don't know what
- 7:36Speaker 1: the script is going, but when it goes in their
- 7:38Speaker 1: lands and lands in such a powerful direction as a
- 7:40Speaker 1: testament not only that to you as a director and
- 7:42Speaker 1: the writer, but the characters you allowed to put on three.
- 7:44Speaker 1: But I'd be remissed because he's not here. Yes, Mr Brooks,
- 7:51Speaker 1: Mr Brooks, we have to talk about him. He was sexy, Yeah,
- 8:05Speaker 1: he was. He hasn't mccauth Brooks as a human being
- 8:10Speaker 1: has an energy about him that is just what can
- 8:15Speaker 1: I say? It's quiet and still and it's solid. It's
- 8:21Speaker 1: She's just like that a man. Yes, he did for
- 8:29Speaker 1: that reason alone, that the very presence of who he
- 8:32Speaker 1: is and then his nuances and the way he can
- 8:34Speaker 1: pay the pictures and actors, and the reason that's another
- 8:37Speaker 1: role that came from Supergirl to being portrayed this character
- 8:40Speaker 1: because I didn't know where that characters are gonna go either.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You see the trailer, but it believe you trailer is
- 8:45Speaker 1: only an invite to a great movie, a great project.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I want to thank everybody. I hope the nominations come
- 8:49Speaker 1: you away. They're deserving or not only the picture, but
- 8:51Speaker 1: the characters you guys played in this movie. A Far
- 8:54Speaker 1: From Grace is a must see. Thank you guys for
- 8:56Speaker 1: taking the time. I'm trying to get you guys individually
- 8:58Speaker 1: on my podcast because I was going to promote this brother,

- 12:01Speaker 1: Atlanta it's um called Jesus wasn't Collectic Decades, which isn't
- 12:07Speaker 1: actually the name of my EP. So we're performing it live.

- 13:53Speaker 1: make sure we get some batters. I promote it as well.
- 13:56Speaker 1: I can get it all my social latory. But I
- 13:57Speaker 1: know what Rashan. People know are rarely going on stage
- 14:00Speaker 1: these days, right, but I'm so glad. Yeah, so you
- 14:04Speaker 1: can tell everybody Rashan McDonald will be introducing you the
- 14:09Speaker 1: winery in Atlanta. Thank you so much. You know, I've
- 14:13Speaker 1: always I am and always have been a fan, you know.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And when I would land in Houston, me have to
- 14:19Speaker 1: turn on the radio because you your your skills, it's
- 14:23Speaker 1: it's so natural. And your your your ability to uh,
- 14:27Speaker 1: your relatable talent. That's what I always felt, your relatable talent.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And just so you know, so I was going through
- 14:32Speaker 1: preparing for my show and everything and that was just
- 14:34Speaker 1: moren that wrote. I wrote on everything I had to do,
- 14:37Speaker 1: my staff, and I emailed it out and I said,
- 14:40Speaker 1: I said, have I missing anything? And then Samanthe came
- 14:42Speaker 1: in that you know, always telling what I'm missing. She's executive,
- 14:46Speaker 1: Samanthe's executive use of the show. And so she telling me,
- 14:50Speaker 1: you missed this, missed this, and then she had she
- 14:52Speaker 1: saw the NBA All Star Game in Chicago. Teach, do
- 14:55Speaker 1: you need anybody to go with you? I know? Said,
- 15:01Speaker 1: I don't need nobody. Okay, what I do need is
- 15:03Speaker 1: the free She said, come on the show today and
- 15:08Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk to my girl and see if she
- 15:10Speaker 1: will allow me. Absolutely, are you kidding me? I am honored,
- 15:15Speaker 1: thank you, thank you so much. Where I'm honored, and
- 15:18Speaker 1: it's gonna be fun. And now we're gonna we're gonna
- 15:20Speaker 1: we're gonna do our best to make sure people are
- 15:23Speaker 1: turned away. Yeah, get the word out about it. But
- 15:26Speaker 1: what time in showtime? Showtime is eight o'clock. But the
- 15:29Speaker 1: doors open it six people come in and get their
- 15:31Speaker 1: their wine and their food. And I've never been there.
- 15:35Speaker 1: How food, it's food, it's you can you can have dinner,
- 15:39Speaker 1: and you can your wine. And if you don't drink wine,
- 15:41Speaker 1: have water whatever you want to. But um, but you
- 15:44Speaker 1: can come and enjoy and have a nice dinner and
- 15:46Speaker 1: then be ready for the show. Okay, cool, okay, cool.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Sounds like a supper club, yeah, which is which I
- 15:52Speaker 1: perform as a comedian many years ago. Really that for man,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I didn't like people eat. What I was trying to
- 15:58Speaker 1: tell jokes. You can sing and people can eat, right,
- 16:01Speaker 1: because you can dig and dig and groove and roll
- 16:03Speaker 1: in the gym, but you might choke somebody if they
- 16:07Speaker 1: then you know, you know, you know what I'm saying.
- 16:09Speaker 1: You gotta laugh, come, you gotta get feed verbal feedback.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Then this is working right, all this rolling side the
- 16:16Speaker 1: side pointing at me on stage, All right, we're not
- 16:23Speaker 1: working with that. So so how long is this this
- 16:25Speaker 1: show being on the books? Actually? Um, we it in December.
- 16:30Speaker 1: We got a call and um and they were just like,
- 16:32Speaker 1: you know, and that's so. I mean, it was a
- 16:34Speaker 1: blessing because a friend of mine was like, don't you
- 16:37Speaker 1: don't you have an EP dropping? I said yes. She says,
- 16:39Speaker 1: don't you want to play the cynic riding me? I'm like,
- 16:41Speaker 1: of course, So you know, she says, okay, let me
- 16:43Speaker 1: call you back. And then the young lady from the
- 16:46Speaker 1: city winery said could you do it on the twenty nine.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm like, yes, Wow, that's not absolutely I can and
- 16:52Speaker 1: we are not will. So we are so excited about it.
- 16:55Speaker 1: My band is is excited. We're gonna perform probably for
- 16:59Speaker 1: if minutes to an hour, but we're gonna take you
- 17:01Speaker 1: through the decades everybody's I just pray that everyone has
- 17:04Speaker 1: a good time. Well they will, they will, Like My
- 17:07Speaker 1: whole thing is that you know already you know I'm
- 17:09Speaker 1: thinking about I'm gonna woke out there. You know this thing.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I gotta I gotta build a hype, right because it's
- 17:15Speaker 1: all about the intro. I'm gonna need that comedian. It's
- 17:18Speaker 1: all about it's all about the intro. But the thing
- 17:23Speaker 1: that I fell in love and found you was on
- 17:25Speaker 1: radio okay, and I was on your syndicated show. So
- 17:28Speaker 1: tell us about that journey of of you know, we're
- 17:31Speaker 1: gonna get to the comedians later, but but the journey
- 17:35Speaker 1: of what you're doing now it's an entrepreneur as as
- 17:38Speaker 1: a female and in the male dominated business, all businesses
- 17:42Speaker 1: for some reason dominated by men, even even women fashion,
- 17:45Speaker 1: they're making it okay, So so tell us about that
- 17:49Speaker 1: because there's something you're doing is very unique. That's why
- 17:53Speaker 1: we have to we have to put it out there
- 17:55Speaker 1: talk about Well. The thing of it is is UM
- 17:58Speaker 1: having this platform, I feel like I have to be
- 18:01Speaker 1: responsible with it. UM. It's one thing to have the
- 18:03Speaker 1: platform because you know, people love you as a radio host,
- 18:07Speaker 1: that's one thing. But even with that, because they do,
- 18:10Speaker 1: I want to take advantage of this opportunity to bring
- 18:13Speaker 1: my friends along and help me, you know, reach back
- 18:16Speaker 1: into our communities. UM. Through the platform. I have something
- 18:19Speaker 1: called mobs and I know that you've been a part
- 18:21Speaker 1: of that as well. UM. We do something annually called
- 18:24Speaker 1: UM Celebrities Cooking for Calls, and I reach out to
- 18:26Speaker 1: my celebrity friends like Rushan McDonald's SPECIALI and he came
- 18:30Speaker 1: through looking especially over holidays but I hated making But anyway, UM, UM,
- 18:37Speaker 1: I reach out to them and ask them to you know,
- 18:39Speaker 1: prepare their favorite meal and their favorite dish so that
- 18:43Speaker 1: we can go and feed, UM those that are less
- 18:45Speaker 1: fortunate and wrap our arms around them and love on
- 18:48Speaker 1: them and UM you know, give them gifts and and whatnot.
- 18:51Speaker 1: So that's that's one of the things that I do, UM.
- 18:53Speaker 1: But everywhere that I have an opportunity to speak to mothers. Um,
- 18:58Speaker 1: I take the opportunity to do that. Us I am
- 19:00Speaker 1: a mother of three, but they've grown now because then
- 19:03Speaker 1: I got two grandkids. But um, one thing that I
- 19:06Speaker 1: did not have a lot of I have my mother,
- 19:08Speaker 1: but I was not in the same city with my mother,
- 19:11Speaker 1: and I needed guidance, support, directions, someone in the point
- 19:14Speaker 1: me in the right direction, sometimes just right. That was
- 19:17Speaker 1: with an arm's reach. And I think that makes the
- 19:20Speaker 1: difference when you're raising children. Um. Sometimes you know, parents
- 19:25Speaker 1: go through things where the father and the mother are
- 19:27Speaker 1: not you know, on good terms. But how do you
- 19:31Speaker 1: how do you make that work anyway? You know, you
- 19:33Speaker 1: still have to make it work for the children. So
- 19:36Speaker 1: everywhere that I can speak to young ladies and mothers,
- 19:39Speaker 1: I take the opportunity to do that. We all know
- 19:42Speaker 1: that you could say black white, you can say green yellow.
- 19:45Speaker 1: People will hear what they want to hear exactly. And sometimes,
- 19:48Speaker 1: you know, as much as you try to bring clarity
- 19:50Speaker 1: to the situation, people can shape it to the direction
- 19:53Speaker 1: they want to tell the story that's right, you know,
- 19:57Speaker 1: and and it's really sad. So with that being said,
- 20:01Speaker 1: you in that gospel world, those church living the life
- 20:06Speaker 1: of perfection. Come on, tell him nothing, Come on, because
- 20:10Speaker 1: they all socially right right, law have mercy. God is good.
- 20:17Speaker 1: How do you deal with that? Girl? God is good
- 20:19Speaker 1: for that thing? Right man? Man? Listen, who do you
- 20:22Speaker 1: know what you're talking to? Right right? What is a
- 20:25Speaker 1: church person? Listen that? What is the church person? What
- 20:28Speaker 1: is there? There are several and you know you have
- 20:31Speaker 1: to understand, you know, I get excited about this part,
- 20:37Speaker 1: but actually, you know, I was raised in church, you know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: and so I know church like the back of my hand.
- 20:44Speaker 1: And then I run into some people that are not
- 20:47Speaker 1: living a truth. You are living, you are comfortably living
- 20:50Speaker 1: a lie, and then you're covering yourself up with God
- 20:53Speaker 1: is good all the time. Well, yes that is true,
- 20:56Speaker 1: but are you the truth? Right? You see what I mean?
- 20:59Speaker 1: So yeah, that's it, just through Well you know the
- 21:04Speaker 1: thing about I'm not trying to push too much information out,
- 21:06Speaker 1: but I just know that I remember several years ago,
- 21:10Speaker 1: Steve Harvey and uh Kurt Franklin did a tour together.
- 21:14Speaker 1: So I have first hand awareness that Brandon and marketing
- 21:18Speaker 1: that's in particular market because that was my responsibility. Yeah,
- 21:22Speaker 1: these dates sold out. He did it too, had a
- 21:25Speaker 1: comedian who was known for cussing, and I had Kurt Franklin,
- 21:29Speaker 1: who was all gospel, come against what teenagers and kids
- 21:33Speaker 1: could come to his show. So immediately when I put
- 21:36Speaker 1: the tickets over, say I said eighteen and oh lord,
- 21:40Speaker 1: I didn't know because I'm just selling ticket. Get the
- 21:43Speaker 1: call from Kurt Preople, huh chickens, Uh eighteen and up?
- 21:48Speaker 1: We have kids and teenagers and BRENI we gotta change that,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and that said, Okay, what I'm gonna do, Kurt? Okay,
- 21:57Speaker 1: can they not sit on the front brow? I said, Kenny,
- 22:00Speaker 1: can they just can they be on the third or fourth?
- 22:03Speaker 1: Because I know that Steve Harvey came. He's probably doing
- 22:07Speaker 1: that because he's family, a few kids. He's family a
- 22:09Speaker 1: few kids, he's straight family not but back just kind
- 22:17Speaker 1: of did that video for Bishop TV Jakes. Okay, you
- 22:21Speaker 1: know that was the first time he did the show
- 22:22Speaker 1: with our cousins, so he wasn't all the way that
- 22:25Speaker 1: and so so I understood that when I when I
- 22:27Speaker 1: was trying to figure out at first I started marketing
- 22:29Speaker 1: on you know, gospel stations, then well, you know that's
- 22:32Speaker 1: my market wasn't selling no tickets because then I realized that, Okay,
- 22:37Speaker 1: who are church people? Then I started going back to
- 22:40Speaker 1: the R and B stations. Okay station, My tickets started moving.
- 22:46Speaker 1: So that's why I have to ask the question who
- 22:48Speaker 1: are church people? Because when I was over there on
- 22:51Speaker 1: the church gospel station wasn't selling no tickets. When I
- 22:55Speaker 1: was when my e blasts were going out to the
- 22:57Speaker 1: all Gospel citric, what's selling no ticket? As soon as
- 23:01Speaker 1: I went over there too, what they were called centers,
- 23:05Speaker 1: I started selling tickets. That's what I'm talking about. So
- 23:09Speaker 1: so that's why I asked that question, not to be
- 23:12Speaker 1: you know, condescendant, because I don't know who they are.
- 23:16Speaker 1: All I know is that they listen to Agree. They
- 23:19Speaker 1: listened to the Pendographs, they listen to Scott, they the Kim,
- 23:24Speaker 1: they listen to Anthony Hamlets. Okay, if they listen to Keith,
- 23:31Speaker 1: that's all I'm saying. I'm listen. I'm going through kind
- 23:33Speaker 1: of the same thing because City Winery is a winery
- 23:37Speaker 1: and they're saying, well, the gospel people are not going
- 23:40Speaker 1: to buy those tickets, and I'm like, oh, yes, they will, absolutely,
- 23:44Speaker 1: absolutely absolutely. It's really funny. See now, if you own
- 23:48Speaker 1: a gospel station talking about it. Then anything they go,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I can't come or just take that same interview to
- 23:55Speaker 1: R and B station and the same person the same
- 23:58Speaker 1: person here, girl, I'm gonna get those tick. Then he's
- 24:04Speaker 1: not telling the life. That's that's the same part about
- 24:07Speaker 1: And that's that's what leads to my question that you
- 24:08Speaker 1: have my statement that you have breaking the stigma or
- 24:11Speaker 1: what church looks like. Talk to me about that. I
- 24:15Speaker 1: just believe that a lot of times, you know, what
- 24:17Speaker 1: we've done in the past with the church, and then
- 24:20Speaker 1: you know, promoting Christ and promoting God, we've made it
- 24:23Speaker 1: seem like he's so delicate that he can't take the
- 24:26Speaker 1: truth about who we are. That's why I love by
- 24:28Speaker 1: Kirk Franklin. Kris Franklin is a guy who's you know,
- 24:31Speaker 1: you know, you know. It's um, it's really interesting that
- 24:34Speaker 1: you say that because he's so honest in a brutal way,
- 24:38Speaker 1: and people go, Okay, why is he talking like that?
- 24:41Speaker 1: Because in the end, you should be able to be
- 24:42Speaker 1: yourself as a child of God. Come on, yeah, because
- 24:46Speaker 1: God made us. I mean, it's like I am equipped
- 24:49Speaker 1: with everything God gave me. Why can't I be as individuals?
- 24:53Speaker 1: As individuals? That's exactly right, and each individual has equipment
- 24:58Speaker 1: and our purpose and a plan. And too many people
- 25:01Speaker 1: have talking on this show conversation, we're talking, We're talking. Okay,
- 25:07Speaker 1: thank you, That's what I'm saying. But but you know,
- 25:10Speaker 1: we as individuals, like I said, we have, we have,
- 25:14Speaker 1: we are show come on Sundays too, doesn't really? Yes?
- 25:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so you can talk like this, yes, good, good,
- 25:19Speaker 1: good good, because you know, just as I was, I
- 25:22Speaker 1: was just saying, you know, we have we are who
- 25:24Speaker 1: we are and God made us who we are. Right,
- 25:28Speaker 1: but if we can't be authentic, what is the reason
- 25:31Speaker 1: that we are waking up every day? And so that's
- 25:33Speaker 1: what that's exactly right. We want real people. We want
- 25:37Speaker 1: real people that that have a real story and then
- 25:40Speaker 1: have something to say. No, I'm not perfect, that I'm
- 25:42Speaker 1: probably will never be perfect, and I'm not gonna I'm
- 25:46Speaker 1: not gonna be so arrogant to even try to be perfect.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Just be me. So you have a syndicated night and show.
- 25:53Speaker 1: What does that show? What does it produce? Shows? Syndicated
- 25:57Speaker 1: warning shows? So I know I have a system. You
- 25:59Speaker 1: start the phone calls and you have some jokes head,
- 26:02Speaker 1: you have entertainment news, what is what just the lineup
- 26:05Speaker 1: of your show? The lineup of my show, Well, I'm
- 26:07Speaker 1: I'm on at night, um, from seven to eleven pm.
- 26:10Speaker 1: So my thought is, I'm I'm catching people who are
- 26:12Speaker 1: coming home from work and have had probably a hard
- 26:15Speaker 1: day and that want to talk. So I have, you know,
- 26:19Speaker 1: a chat room topic, so we could just talk about
- 26:23Speaker 1: absolutely anything, you know. But but my purpose for my
- 26:26Speaker 1: show is to uplift you know, before people go to
- 26:30Speaker 1: bed at night, just get everything off your mind that
- 26:32Speaker 1: will happen during the day and at night. Let's have
- 26:34Speaker 1: a little inspiration. Let's have some fun entertainment, laugh and
- 26:39Speaker 1: just kind of clear the atmosphere so that you can
- 26:41Speaker 1: sleep well. Now January, we're gonna have we will have
- 26:45Speaker 1: some inspiration at the Atlanta City Winery. That's right, um,
- 26:49Speaker 1: your show. The name of the EP is what Jesus
- 26:52Speaker 1: was Eclectic? And who all will be on the lineup?
- 26:56Speaker 1: It will be Alvin Garrett R and B. Singer hip
- 27:00Speaker 1: hop artist, my son the champ Um. Also Leon Timbo
- 27:04Speaker 1: is coming. Let me tell you something. He's he's amazing.
- 27:08Speaker 1: But then of course it will be me and my
- 27:10Speaker 1: band or did she forget somebody? And introducing hold on,
- 27:15Speaker 1: Wait a minute, hold on, I thought you were talking
- 27:17Speaker 1: about performing. But hold on one second. Let me just
- 27:22Speaker 1: bet you already said that you hope that the comedian
- 27:25Speaker 1: walks on the stage to introduce you have to you
- 27:28Speaker 1: already comedian Mr Money Making Conversations himself Rashan McDonald will
- 27:35Speaker 1: be introducing difficulty doing that, help Mom? Okay, money making
- 27:39Speaker 1: a conversation slash comedian slash that's we gotta make sure
- 27:44Speaker 1: that's all. Yeah, they get it because you know you
- 27:46Speaker 1: sold Multitalent my next guest. Production company, Kingdom Rain Entertainment LLC,
- 28:02Speaker 1: is recognized as one of the leading entertainment companies in television.
- 28:06Speaker 1: His credits conclude executive producer, Love and Marriage Huntville on
- 28:12Speaker 1: the Own Network, Styling Hollywood, Netflix, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Bravo,
- 28:17Speaker 1: Hollywood Divas, TV one, The Next Fifteen, and Guccia Main
- 28:22Speaker 1: and Keisha The Main Event on b ET. Please welcome
- 28:25Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversation. They've said, let Freedom Rain. Let's
- 28:29Speaker 1: let Kingdom Rain, my man, Carlos king my man. For
- 28:41Speaker 1: first of all, you know you're doing great things and
- 28:44Speaker 1: uh in television because you know, it's just been a
- 28:47Speaker 1: journey in the reality world of respect, you know, and
- 28:50Speaker 1: I and I just tell you share my personal story.
- 28:53Speaker 1: When I was producing and UH and creating the Neighborhood
- 28:56Speaker 1: Awards with Steve, Steve Harvey was hosting, it was a
- 28:59Speaker 1: pure where you know, there were no African Americans and
- 29:03Speaker 1: dramas and or North African American show which that at
- 29:05Speaker 1: sitcom talent and all the talent was coming from the
- 29:10Speaker 1: reality TV world. And it was a period when reality
- 29:13Speaker 1: TV was fighting and throwing and cussing and fussing and
- 29:17Speaker 1: it was just ugly out there. And so it's really
- 29:19Speaker 1: putting a black eye on what do do black people
- 29:23Speaker 1: act like this? And I've seen that and I feel
- 29:25Speaker 1: there has been Now we see sitcoms with African Americans
- 29:28Speaker 1: on it, we see dramas would lead African Americans, and
- 29:31Speaker 1: I feel that that has helped UH stylized and help
- 29:34Speaker 1: the world of reality TV to be more accepted and
- 29:37Speaker 1: also shape better stories. Am I correcting another assessment? No,
- 29:42Speaker 1: you absolutely are. I think, um listen when it comes
- 29:45Speaker 1: to reality TV. The reason why I started my company,
- 29:49Speaker 1: Kingdom Rain Entertainment, is because I wanted to change the
- 29:53Speaker 1: landscape of how African Americans are beat on television. So
- 29:57Speaker 1: know your assessment is right in terms of uh has
- 30:01Speaker 1: been stored up the attention that's we're given to in
- 30:04Speaker 1: the past, and my hope is to redirect that in
- 30:06Speaker 1: the future. Well, you're doing a good job, first of all,
- 30:09Speaker 1: because you know, you know, and I would tell you
- 30:13Speaker 1: like I can have honest conversations and that, and I
- 30:15Speaker 1: really believe that the stories are being told better because
- 30:18Speaker 1: African Americans are actually producing these shows with African American
- 30:23Speaker 1: needs and African American content and they're not stories that
- 30:26Speaker 1: we assumed that's how they should act. Well, let's just
- 30:29Speaker 1: make believe this particular scenario and that I believe really helps.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And so when I you said, Rashan, you're excited to
- 30:37Speaker 1: have me on the show, Yes, I am, because you
- 30:39Speaker 1: are telling the story that is accurate. We all know
- 30:42Speaker 1: it's entertainment. Don't get me wrong, callers, that's entertainment. We
- 30:45Speaker 1: got to have the ratings. Heither, right, But guess what
- 30:47Speaker 1: there is credibility and how the stories being told now
- 30:51Speaker 1: because you understand the culture. Yeah, no, that's true, that's true.
- 30:56Speaker 1: And I would think other reason too, because again, prior
- 30:59Speaker 1: to me starting the company, I was a hired freelance
- 31:03Speaker 1: producer who had to produce these shows and did not
- 31:07Speaker 1: really have a stay in the beginning, middle, and end
- 31:11Speaker 1: of how these stories were being told. And the biggest
- 31:14Speaker 1: theme that I wanted to give people work credibility and
- 31:18Speaker 1: to show that there is an audience out there where people,
- 31:22Speaker 1: especially African Americans, they want to see people who look
- 31:26Speaker 1: like them on television, but they also want to make
- 31:28Speaker 1: sure that it's really something that's happening in the real lives.
- 31:32Speaker 1: And when you look at Love and Marriage Hunt Bill
- 31:35Speaker 1: on the Oprah Whimpering Network and the show to Me
- 31:38Speaker 1: is doing well, um solely because you have three couples
- 31:42Speaker 1: who I think represent a large part of black family households.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Whether or not you disagree with them or agree with them,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you know somebody who sort of represents that that lifestyle.
- 31:55Speaker 1: So the show has been a huge hit for own
- 31:59Speaker 1: because these African American couples who are successful, but they
- 32:03Speaker 1: also are giving you insight into what happened in their
- 32:08Speaker 1: households to hopefully shed light on what happens in households
- 32:13Speaker 1: across America. And the success of that show, to me,
- 32:18Speaker 1: shows the reason why I wanted to begin the company
- 32:21Speaker 1: and I'm hoping that I continue to have people tune
- 32:26Speaker 1: into the shows we're creating over here. That really speaks
- 32:29Speaker 1: to that attention. Well, I'm gonna tell you something. I
- 32:33Speaker 1: know when I left IBM, I was a degree as
- 32:36Speaker 1: mathematics and left IBM to do stand up comic because
- 32:38Speaker 1: I traveled all over the country telling jokes. And what
- 32:41Speaker 1: people don't know is, uh, how modern the city of
- 32:45Speaker 1: Huntsville is. It's one of the It's like a silicon
- 32:48Speaker 1: vast technology. Why that's where NASA started. NASA started in
- 32:51Speaker 1: hunted exactly, and a lot of people don't understand that.
- 32:54Speaker 1: So I remember. So, if you any any popular chain
- 32:58Speaker 1: in America, food Changing, it is in Huntsville, Alabama, and
- 33:02Speaker 1: and so and so I know, I usually love going
- 33:04Speaker 1: there because you know, great comedy and close are people
- 33:07Speaker 1: you know, well, very knowledgeable and you don't do crazy
- 33:10Speaker 1: things to get people to laugh. And so so you
- 33:13Speaker 1: picked the city that, as one would say, you know,
- 33:16Speaker 1: it's like with a high uh intellectual and cultural platform
- 33:22Speaker 1: in Huntsville, Alabama, And a lot of people didn't know that.
- 33:24Speaker 1: And I think that you're telling the story and opening
- 33:27Speaker 1: people's eyes to Huntsville. Yeah, no, that was you know what,
- 33:33Speaker 1: that was the biggest goal. When Melody and Mark Home
- 33:35Speaker 1: met with me, you know, they they drove from Huntsville
- 33:39Speaker 1: to Atlanta. I was living there at the time. This
- 33:41Speaker 1: is maybe five years ago, and they pitched me the
- 33:44Speaker 1: idea of doing something in Huntsville. And just to be
- 33:48Speaker 1: completely transparent, I'm like, who's in the hunstand all about?
- 33:54Speaker 1: You know what? I mean? More curious about the city
- 33:57Speaker 1: than anything else. And I you that Melito and Martell
- 34:01Speaker 1: has something interesting to tell the world, But I was
- 34:04Speaker 1: really interested in the city as a whole. And you
- 34:08Speaker 1: are right. It's such a city that has so many
- 34:12Speaker 1: affluent black people who thrived there and they're super smart.
- 34:18Speaker 1: We met with a rocket scientist, you know, this black
- 34:20Speaker 1: man who's a rocket scientists think you hear, you hear
- 34:23Speaker 1: about what you've never really seen. So it's such a smart,
- 34:27Speaker 1: savvy town. And I think a lot of people watch
- 34:32Speaker 1: the show and they're like, Wow, they're smart, successful black
- 34:37Speaker 1: people who live in Huntsville, Alabama. And to me is
- 34:40Speaker 1: putting the city on the map, and it's allowing the
- 34:43Speaker 1: city to really be shown in a light that you know,
- 34:46Speaker 1: when people think of the South, they think, oh, they're
- 34:49Speaker 1: uneducated and the sect off the shows providing something different
- 34:52Speaker 1: means the world to me. Yeah, it's really cool. Like
- 34:54Speaker 1: like I I very when I when I realized it
- 34:56Speaker 1: was coming on, I tuned in because now and because
- 35:00Speaker 1: if you know, I've had a blessed life to be
- 35:02Speaker 1: able to articulate something by Huntsville, Alabama to you and
- 35:07Speaker 1: be able to be on dead own spot means that
- 35:09Speaker 1: I've I've experienced that culture and I was so my
- 35:10Speaker 1: life has allowed me to experience a lot of different paths.
- 35:13Speaker 1: And the fact that you know, this is not Birmingham,
- 35:15Speaker 1: this is not Montgomery, this is Huntsville. Totally different cons city,
- 35:19Speaker 1: totally different set up, totally different lifestyle. And it also
- 35:23Speaker 1: is who doesn't have it, Who doesn't do a country cousin? Okay, right,
- 35:28Speaker 1: we don't have you know, you know, because everybody got
- 35:31Speaker 1: to cut your cousin in the South. Okay, everybody in
- 35:32Speaker 1: the North came from the South. So so you wouldn't
- 35:35Speaker 1: everybody from l a move from Alabama or Mississippi or Arkansas.
- 35:39Speaker 1: So yeah, so so you weren't out of your comfort zone.
- 35:42Speaker 1: You actually bringing people back to their roots. Oh absolutely, absolutely,
- 35:47Speaker 1: And and looking I'm from right, come on, getting comfortable now,
- 35:55Speaker 1: he getting comfortable. Now, it's all just got caught. Yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 1: let's let's do it. No, I'm from the Tree and
- 36:01Speaker 1: I grew up in the whole era of black excellence
- 36:04Speaker 1: and you know, growing up when my motor City was
- 36:08Speaker 1: really thriving in the Motown sound and all that amazing stuff.
- 36:12Speaker 1: So again, it's all about giving back to your community
- 36:15Speaker 1: in some in some way, and with Huntsville, that was
- 36:19Speaker 1: one part of it. But it's what you said it again.
- 36:22Speaker 1: I think the show is successful because you look at
- 36:26Speaker 1: these African American people and they remind you of family,
- 36:31Speaker 1: They remind you of home. And my hope is that
- 36:34Speaker 1: that is an eye opener as even for me and
- 36:37Speaker 1: my team to really start putting more of these other
- 36:42Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say forgotten towns, but more so a
- 36:45Speaker 1: town that a lot of people just aren't familiar with.
- 36:47Speaker 1: So even the way we're creating shows, Rishan, we're really
- 36:51Speaker 1: taffricking to markets where it's the typical Atlanta, Miami and
- 36:56Speaker 1: late New York. Like, we're going down to the south
- 36:58Speaker 1: just to really see what is there. Because I think
- 37:01Speaker 1: the way television is is working a lot of people,
- 37:05Speaker 1: you know, they're bored easily with the same city you
- 37:08Speaker 1: see across television. But to tap into those towns where
- 37:13Speaker 1: you've heard about the city but you don't really know
- 37:16Speaker 1: about it, Um, that excites me to really put more
- 37:19Speaker 1: of these cities on about So now you've got you've
- 37:21Speaker 1: got Freedom Rain out there, Kingdom Rain is backing it up,
- 37:25Speaker 1: backing it up. And I, uh, when you when you
- 37:28Speaker 1: put together these casts, uh, and you put put together
- 37:30Speaker 1: the shows, what show do you feel over the years
- 37:32Speaker 1: that you that you you know, I know we talked
- 37:35Speaker 1: about Housewives of Atlanta they really touched you? Or just
- 37:38Speaker 1: just say, hey, man, really I learned so much from
- 37:41Speaker 1: being a part of that show. And you know I
- 37:42Speaker 1: always have friends from that show. What show may have
- 37:45Speaker 1: touched you like that over the years that I produced
- 37:48Speaker 1: somebody own owns? Oh good question. Um, I'll say this much.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I think since Hollywood Divas the first show that my
- 38:01Speaker 1: company was able to produce TV one, Yeah, thank you
- 38:05Speaker 1: back in twenty four team, I would say that show
- 38:11Speaker 1: will always mean the most to me. It's like it's
- 38:14Speaker 1: like I'm not a parent, but I'm gonna assume all
- 38:17Speaker 1: parents feel this way about their first born, like there's
- 38:21Speaker 1: nothing like your first born. Like you love you, you
- 38:24Speaker 1: love all your kids equally, but that that feeling and
- 38:27Speaker 1: that experience of your firstborn means the most. It's because
- 38:32Speaker 1: it's the first. We don't look at it interest You
- 38:35Speaker 1: say that. It's interesting, you say that because I want
- 38:37Speaker 1: I want to share a story, which I know we're
- 38:39Speaker 1: running a time. I want to get this in. And
- 38:41Speaker 1: it's very propositive what you're saying, because when you go
- 38:45Speaker 1: out there and you do something for the first time,
- 38:47Speaker 1: what's your production company? I remember when I was did
- 38:49Speaker 1: the Neighborhood Awards and I actually produced it for the
- 38:52Speaker 1: first time myself, and you know, I was you know,
- 38:55Speaker 1: people asked me and I told him, yeah, even though
- 38:57Speaker 1: I didn't know what, I still moved forward with confidence
- 39:00Speaker 1: because I felt I was ready. I felt that I've
- 39:03Speaker 1: seen it all enough to be able to confidably go
- 39:06Speaker 1: out there and know that that camera goes there, that
- 39:08Speaker 1: stage and goes there, that like you goes there, that
- 39:11Speaker 1: has to happen right there. And and I actually when
- 39:15Speaker 1: when when when I actually was rehearsal, I was I
- 39:17Speaker 1: was brought to tears because I realized that there's how
- 39:21Speaker 1: much work you have to put in, and how many
- 39:23Speaker 1: naysayers stepping between your stepping between your opportunities. And even
- 39:29Speaker 1: the people that you care about, you really can't turn
- 39:32Speaker 1: to them because they don't even know what you're talking about.
- 39:34Speaker 1: So the support that they can offer to you, it's nice,
- 39:38Speaker 1: but it ain't enough. And and you got to walk
- 39:42Speaker 1: out there. I always tell people this, and joking, I
- 39:44Speaker 1: always say, if you are if you are in the
- 39:47Speaker 1: military and you're telling them you're the captain and you're
- 39:49Speaker 1: telling somebody to charge up a hill, you can't have
- 39:52Speaker 1: tears in your eyes because the reality is is that
- 39:57Speaker 1: you have to be straight. You have to be strong,
- 39:59Speaker 1: You have to at the top of your game, even
- 40:02Speaker 1: even if everybody around you questions you. That means you
- 40:06Speaker 1: have to do your homework. And my friend, I say
- 40:09Speaker 1: that in a very complimentary manner, sharing a very personal
- 40:12Speaker 1: part of my life. Seeing what you are doing and
- 40:15Speaker 1: seeing what you are accomplishing. I'm proud of your callers,
- 40:18Speaker 1: thank you for doing my show. And uh and UH
- 40:21Speaker 1: always know if you have a banner or sizzle reel
- 40:25Speaker 1: that you want to promote, a premier or a big
- 40:27Speaker 1: moment of closure, and then the guests you want to
- 40:29Speaker 1: bring on my show. You have a home here, call
- 40:31Speaker 1: us because of the fact that you're changing television. Man,
- 40:35Speaker 1: don't change, and the revenue is coming, my man, the
- 40:38Speaker 1: revenue is coming. Kingdom Rain. Y'all, Kingdom Rain. Thank you callers,
- 40:46Speaker 1: appreciate your brother. Hi, this is Rushan McDonald, the host

- 42:00Speaker 1: together in the early twenties and with the three years
- 42:02Speaker 1: grew into a million dollar business and only and only
- 42:05Speaker 1: two years later, a multimillion dollar business. Their owners of
- 42:09Speaker 1: Hope and Hope Entrepreneurship. They are also owners of Hope
- 42:13Speaker 1: Custom Homes. They're working. They are working real estate in
- 42:16Speaker 1: the thriving city of Huntsville, Alabama. I've been in Huntsville, Alabama,
- 42:20Speaker 1: so I'm not I'm not joking around when that's used

- 42:40Speaker 1: Melody Melody and Martel Hote. Hello, Hi, Hello, Hello Bear. Well,
- 42:48Speaker 1: first of all, well we'll take that, we'll take that on.
- 42:53Speaker 1: You know you got to because guess this by Brandon
- 42:55Speaker 1: and Marketing and guess what I read your bio. You
- 42:58Speaker 1: guys truly understand that you're not afraid to step out
- 43:01Speaker 1: and and and and and go take your your your
- 43:03Speaker 1: careers and opportunities down to different lane. And that's really important.
- 43:06Speaker 1: So well, thank you so much for that. We appreciate that,
- 43:10Speaker 1: and thank you for having us on your show today. Well,
- 43:13Speaker 1: first of all, it is thankful for me because you know,
- 43:16Speaker 1: when you build a brand and you get out there
- 43:18Speaker 1: and it has to have some relevances and people. Easy
- 43:21Speaker 1: to do with Sean McDonald's show, Money Making Conversation Show,
- 43:23Speaker 1: because when I started the platform three years ago, you know,
- 43:26Speaker 1: I had my celebrity friends call in and and I
- 43:29Speaker 1: didn't know even though why I was talking to him,
- 43:31Speaker 1: you know, just they were calling in and hey, ro Sean,
- 43:33Speaker 1: and after hay very Seawan, it went, okay, what we're
- 43:36Speaker 1: gonna talk about. So I had to develop a point
- 43:38Speaker 1: of view. And my point of view is to bring
- 43:40Speaker 1: talented individuals. You guys, not only are you know celebrities
- 43:44Speaker 1: from a from a TV standpoint, but your celebrities in
- 43:46Speaker 1: the entrepreneurship the world, and that's where I that's where
- 43:50Speaker 1: I live in entrepreneurship as well as entertainment, and so
- 43:53Speaker 1: I wanted to bring you on the show. Both of
- 43:55Speaker 1: you because it's a power couple. I love bringing power
- 43:57Speaker 1: couples on the show because it's really about communication and
- 44:00Speaker 1: it's about bellon it because you bring your work home
- 44:02Speaker 1: and you take your work away from home, and you
- 44:04Speaker 1: need to have to learn when to stop working. And
- 44:07Speaker 1: so I wanted to start off because I had Carlos King.
- 44:10Speaker 1: He was on the show yesterday. He's the creator executive
- 44:14Speaker 1: Carlos King. Now, come on now, he was, and I
- 44:19Speaker 1: told him that I was going to be interviewing you
- 44:21Speaker 1: guys and he said, wow, he said, they tell us
- 44:25Speaker 1: how you guys created how that I was the relationship
- 44:28Speaker 1: that you guys have to start out with Carlos King. Well,
- 44:32Speaker 1: you know, it's so just very interesting and amazing because
- 44:36Speaker 1: we actually met Carlos King five years ago and when
- 44:40Speaker 1: we sat down and met with him, it was for
- 44:42Speaker 1: a consultation to pitch this show idea that we had
- 44:46Speaker 1: that was really based off of us, our family and
- 44:50Speaker 1: our business and interest in this industry called the property
- 44:53Speaker 1: preservation industry, which is a multibillion dollar industry. Right, So
- 44:58Speaker 1: we met with him pay star, oh show them our treatment,
- 45:01Speaker 1: and he loved, you know, he loved the idea. He said,
- 45:04Speaker 1: you know, you guys look like you would be great
- 45:06Speaker 1: on TV. But to be honest, the first thing you
- 45:07Speaker 1: said was, you know, what do you say? Right He said,
- 45:10Speaker 1: you guys want to be on Real Housewives of Atlanta
- 45:14Speaker 1: and right now was like, uh, now, I want to
- 45:16Speaker 1: keep my wife. At that time, yeah, yeah, So that's
- 45:20Speaker 1: kind of was a lot of breakups and stuff relationship
- 45:23Speaker 1: if you're going on and on housewives, and was like,
- 45:26Speaker 1: I want to keep my wife. So when we met
- 45:28Speaker 1: with him, and then over the years, we just continue
- 45:32Speaker 1: to reach out to Carlos, continuing to fill Huntsville, to
- 45:37Speaker 1: sell the whole brand, showing him what's happening in Huntsville,
- 45:40Speaker 1: what's happening with our family dynamic, and you know, we
- 45:44Speaker 1: just you know, we really pushed the idea and it
- 45:49Speaker 1: doesn't happen overnight all the time. You know, now we
- 45:51Speaker 1: have a show on the Oprah Winfrey Network and we're
- 45:53Speaker 1: so thankful and excited about that and you know, just
- 45:56Speaker 1: thankful for that opportunity. But it took a long time
- 46:00Speaker 1: us saying in contact and pushing what we thought would
- 46:03Speaker 1: be a great idea. And then we speak about pushing,
- 46:06Speaker 1: you know, we hired our own staff to you know,
- 46:08Speaker 1: record us and things of that nature supposed to do
- 46:10Speaker 1: like sizles and things like that. So it was it
- 46:13Speaker 1: was it was work. It was work. Um. So like
- 46:16Speaker 1: Melody mentioned, doesn't happen overnight, So we really have to
- 46:19Speaker 1: put work in to accomplish the goal. When the goal
- 46:21Speaker 1: was to get a show, and we got it, fortunition
- 46:23Speaker 1: accomplished and on to the next name. Absolutely the cool
- 46:26Speaker 1: thing aboudy go okay, Huntsville, Alabama, the birthplace of Alabama, uh,
- 46:31Speaker 1: population with about two thousand population. But then you start
- 46:34Speaker 1: digging into Alabama high tech. You know, the legacy of
- 46:38Speaker 1: the space programs out of Alabama Huntsville about a lot
- 46:42Speaker 1: of people don't know that reason I know that was
- 46:44Speaker 1: that when I left IBM and U six to become
- 46:47Speaker 1: a comic on the road, I used to come through
- 46:49Speaker 1: it Huntsville, Alabama to perform. So when I walked when
- 46:53Speaker 1: I went into that market, you know, it's it's is
- 46:56Speaker 1: totally different from any of the city in Alabama because
- 46:59Speaker 1: of that high tech. And I totally agree. And if
- 47:02Speaker 1: you have we have the number two research park um
- 47:06Speaker 1: in the country, huh and the largest research in the country.
- 47:10Speaker 1: And I'm sure that you know when when you when
- 47:12Speaker 1: you came to call us calls just like anybody else. Huntsville, Alabram,
- 47:15Speaker 1: what's going on in Huntsville, Alabama? Who's here? And see
- 47:20Speaker 1: cows and horses and that absolutely then you got good
- 47:27Speaker 1: food too, and great barbecue, all that good stuff down
- 47:30Speaker 1: in Huntsville. But that's why he looked at an attractive couple.
- 47:33Speaker 1: There was a modern that there was a go getter.
- 47:36Speaker 1: That's why I want you want be on the Real
- 47:37Speaker 1: Housewives of Atlanta. He was trying to pull y'all into Atlanta,
- 47:41Speaker 1: not knowing that he hadn't done his research yet. And
- 47:44Speaker 1: I'm not saying anything negative because everybody knows what they know.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I just have to know it because guess what. I
- 47:49Speaker 1: was a road comic. I I went through all the
- 47:51Speaker 1: cities in America telling my jokes. And when I got
- 47:53Speaker 1: to Huntsville, Alabama, it opened my eyes because every restaurant
- 47:57Speaker 1: change that you can find in Houston or dall Us
- 48:00Speaker 1: was in Huntsville, Alabama. The the the intellectual or uh
- 48:05Speaker 1: concert crowd was in Alabama. And I realized that all
- 48:08Speaker 1: sitting around that high tech environment is sitting right there
- 48:11Speaker 1: in little old northern Alabama, Huntsville, Alabama. And that's what
- 48:16Speaker 1: you do. That's awesome. That's yes, that's hurts you. And
- 48:22Speaker 1: that's one of the things you know that for us,
- 48:23Speaker 1: it's so awesome. It's actually, you know, it's easy certain
- 48:26Speaker 1: markets to get a show in, like your Atlanta, you're
- 48:29Speaker 1: all age or New York. But we're doing something right
- 48:32Speaker 1: here in Alabama, and I think that's part of the
- 48:34Speaker 1: significance of our program and of our shows. Well, guess
- 48:37Speaker 1: what I'm very happy about. I know the finale ended
- 48:41Speaker 1: in November, and so I know it's not on right now.
- 48:44Speaker 1: But let's talk about the entrepreneurship side of you too,
- 48:47Speaker 1: and also the fact that you guys were former school teachers. Correct. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I have a degree in secondary education English and I
- 48:57Speaker 1: have a degree in special education. And I did go
- 48:59Speaker 1: to something what a year ahead. It was. It was tough.
- 49:05Speaker 1: It was it was toughing, very challenging, you know, dealing
- 49:07Speaker 1: with the kids of today. Let's talk about that because
- 49:12Speaker 1: like my degrees in mathematics, okay, my mind is in sociology.
- 49:15Speaker 1: I went to school and and I was I was
- 49:17Speaker 1: under the thought process that that's where I was supposed
- 49:20Speaker 1: I was supposed to. I don't reget going to college here.
- 49:22Speaker 1: I love the fact that I have a math degree,
- 49:24Speaker 1: but that doesn't mean that's your final journey. And that's
- 49:26Speaker 1: why I love about you got story. You know, you
- 49:29Speaker 1: were educators, so you're out there shaping minds and so
- 49:33Speaker 1: in your mind said this is the direction I should go.
- 49:36Speaker 1: But what made the twist? What? What what made that turn?
- 49:39Speaker 1: Because you know the to to Actually you were working
- 49:43Speaker 1: in the environment of your career choice. Why the change?
- 49:48Speaker 1: You know, Um, I'll start person and let Martel answer
- 49:50Speaker 1: from my point of view. You know, I don't feel
- 49:54Speaker 1: like there's something set for you and that's your only
- 49:56Speaker 1: path and that's your only way. People can be versatile, right,
- 50:00Speaker 1: I think that for us, even though we were in
- 50:02Speaker 1: the classroom, we also ultimately still had that business side
- 50:07Speaker 1: to us because you gotta think, keep in mind, when
- 50:10Speaker 1: we were teaching, you know, we started a lawn care business.
- 50:13Speaker 1: We you know, gained over fifty residential clients that we
- 50:15Speaker 1: were cutting lines after school and on the weekends running
- 50:18Speaker 1: this business. LLF seeded creating marketing material and things of
- 50:23Speaker 1: that nature. You know, we were doing all of that
- 50:25Speaker 1: while we were teaching, and then we went on to
- 50:27Speaker 1: gain some commercial clients in the line care fielding UM
- 50:31Speaker 1: cleaning certain offices like dental offices and things like that,
- 50:34Speaker 1: UM at night and on the weekend. So we though
- 50:37Speaker 1: we had degrees in education within us, who was still
- 50:40Speaker 1: when you say, Marcello, that business sense and business side
- 50:43Speaker 1: to us, Yeah, I think that, Melan. Now we both
- 50:45Speaker 1: are entrepreneurs at heart, and I think that's the key
- 50:49Speaker 1: to a lot of our success. Right there is no
- 50:52Speaker 1: one had to coach us to be entrepreneurs. It was
- 50:54Speaker 1: already within. So it's we're gonna do multiple things. So
- 50:58Speaker 1: us teaching, it's like we had to do something else.
- 51:00Speaker 1: And also we wanted the better lifestyle as well, other
- 51:03Speaker 1: than you know, the thirty forty some thousand dollars salary
- 51:06Speaker 1: that we were getting from teaching and then teaching to
- 51:09Speaker 1: you know, it's not only full time, but it's like
- 51:11Speaker 1: over time, and you don't get paid over time from
- 51:14Speaker 1: being a school teacher creating papers and creating lessons and
- 51:18Speaker 1: also coming out of your pocket pay for things that
- 51:21Speaker 1: goes out to teachers. Right now, and I'm hopefully one
- 51:24Speaker 1: day I'll be starting, Melan, I would be starting a
- 51:25Speaker 1: program to assist um, teachers in and I guess, you know,
- 51:30Speaker 1: getting better paying, you know, getting better more money and
- 51:34Speaker 1: things of that nature, because teachers, they do a lot.
- 51:37Speaker 1: And I also come out of their pockets. I was saying,
- 51:39Speaker 1: because of the fact that, you know, just just because
- 51:41Speaker 1: the kid goes to school, don't mean they have the
- 51:43Speaker 1: proper supplies, don't mean they have the opportunity to be
- 51:46Speaker 1: able to, you know, learn the curriculum because of the
- 51:49Speaker 1: fact that you have to come out of your pocket
- 51:50Speaker 1: and get some extra paperwork or by a book. And
- 51:52Speaker 1: you know, there's always an option to be successful. Like
- 51:55Speaker 1: you said, go out and find the people who that's
- 51:57Speaker 1: what they do. You know, you find a person that
- 52:00Speaker 1: you're not, you're not supposed to poor. That's the concrete
- 52:02Speaker 1: Go find somebody that's what they do poor, the concrete delegate.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Delegate with degating too much, don't get him start delegate everything.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Hey brother, you gotta sleep. But I always tell people,
- 52:17Speaker 1: you know, I remember when I started, uh the early
- 52:20Speaker 1: years of manager Steve Hard. You know, I I booked
- 52:23Speaker 1: the car, I booked the flights, I picked us up,
- 52:27Speaker 1: I brought all the food and went out and never realized,
- 52:30Speaker 1: you know, you gotta start getting extra people around you, security,
- 52:34Speaker 1: get called somebody to book your flight and your book
- 52:37Speaker 1: your car services. And that's I started delegating to Mard.
- 52:41Speaker 1: So you need to tell her to be quiet. I
- 52:43Speaker 1: know that's your wife and everything. She's beautiful, but she
- 52:46Speaker 1: can't tell she can't interrupt you when you're delegating. Delegating.
- 52:49Speaker 1: It is a beautiful thing, my brother. That's that's right.
- 52:51Speaker 1: And make you feel so much, make you feel better,
- 52:54Speaker 1: look better, look younger. You know what I'm saying. You know,
- 52:56Speaker 1: wake up with your back hurt, and delegate that pick
- 52:58Speaker 1: up over there, delegate that that that go do something
- 53:01Speaker 1: for me. Just just delegate. This the way to go.
- 53:04Speaker 1: So so whatever you say, miss Hope, I can't join
- 53:08Speaker 1: you on that. He can delegate all he wants. Now,
- 53:10Speaker 1: I'm sure you're a delegator too, aren't you, because I
- 53:12Speaker 1: can hear you talk. You almost wanted to tell me
- 53:15Speaker 1: something to do a couple of times during this interview,
- 53:16Speaker 1: because I know you tell people to do on a
- 53:18Speaker 1: regular basis. I delegate, but not as much as Martel.
- 53:23Speaker 1: You know, I do believe in balance, um, and I
- 53:26Speaker 1: think that a lot of times, you know, whenever we
- 53:28Speaker 1: are UM, with someone is great. Whenever you can. You
- 53:31Speaker 1: know you're not gonna fool me with this church voice. Uh.
- 53:39Speaker 1: I don't know how you handle it, brother, You know
- 53:41Speaker 1: you was four years older. You You're just a patient
- 53:44Speaker 1: brother with that church force. You know you just started
- 53:46Speaker 1: getting in an argument. You're gonna pull out that praise
- 53:48Speaker 1: the Lord voice on you. You don't know what to do?
- 53:50Speaker 1: You know you can, man, do I want to talking
- 53:54Speaker 1: about your through out that little sweet Alabama voice on you.

- 54:00Speaker 1: because I know you can. I'm gonna just tell you
- 54:04Speaker 1: this now. You would probably when that when that opportunity
- 54:07Speaker 1: to demolish that home and rebuild it, you were thinking
- 54:09Speaker 1: about it, wouldn't you, mar Tell she had already started
- 54:12Speaker 1: planning it. Why can't we do it? Well, baby, baby, listen,
- 54:17Speaker 1: White Chid already that plans on the kitchen table. Everything
- 54:20Speaker 1: you're going because we were as men, we think things out.
- 54:24Speaker 1: We were thinking that women, why can't we? And then
- 54:27Speaker 1: then it forced us to be in the position to yes,
- 54:29Speaker 1: we can. So so it's a good power couple relationship.
- 54:32Speaker 1: So whenever one is thinking that they can't do it,
- 54:35Speaker 1: the others pushing them out the door. If everyone is
- 54:38Speaker 1: saying that car can't start, the others look, got the
- 54:40Speaker 1: hood up, Why can't you start? Let's make a start.
