A baby deer might look irresistibly cute, but keeping one as a pet is illegal—and dangerous. South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks intervened after someone tried to strap a fawn into a dog harness, causing harm and disrupting its natural development. Fawns are often left alone by their mothers, who return shortly—removing them risks the animal’s survival and prevents vital learning.
