- 1:44Speaker 1: first of all, I got I gotta go to D first,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you know, because I read the book. You know, because
- 1:48Speaker 1: I knew D had swag when she had a two
- 1:50Speaker 1: E E Z dot DOTR to a Z. I said, okay, okay, now, okay, now,
- 1:55Speaker 1: because that was the car I have, Willie, Dr to
- 1:58Speaker 1: a D C. You had to have a little money
- 2:01Speaker 1: in your bake. You have to have a little flat
- 2:03Speaker 1: board girl. You hey, Willie, you couldn't tell her nothing
- 2:08Speaker 1: when she had adopted two easy, could you? You're right right,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and you drove it into the ground. You know that's true.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Car when I got married to him, a lot of
- 2:29Speaker 1: driving it and I just drove it into the absolutely,
- 2:33Speaker 1: yeah right when you looking go class and style and
- 2:40Speaker 1: too easy? What color was it? Deep? What color was it?
- 2:43Speaker 1: It was percent it special, special honor, special honor for
- 2:52Speaker 1: you know, I took a lot of fun. That's why
- 2:55Speaker 1: I wanted to start off with the with and talking
- 2:57Speaker 1: about some of the things that I felt more engaging
- 3:00Speaker 1: about your book or personal about the book, because when
- 3:03Speaker 1: you write a book like that, it has to be
- 3:05Speaker 1: honest and and as and and sometimes telling your story
- 3:09Speaker 1: it takes moments because you know, as you keep writing
- 3:11Speaker 1: the book, you start, oh let me, let me add this,
- 3:13Speaker 1: so you start remembering a part of a story that
- 3:15Speaker 1: you actually forgot that becomes important part of the book.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And sitting down as a couple because I love what
- 3:22Speaker 1: it says? What will it say? Is what he says?
- 3:25Speaker 1: So each one of you as a couple saw things differently,
- 3:29Speaker 1: but worked as a unit to succeed. Correct. Yes, absolutely
- 3:33Speaker 1: you're right, and once she was one of the challenges.
- 3:35Speaker 1: You know, I've read the number of books, many of
- 3:38Speaker 1: them uh, global bestsellers. It only takes the many change
- 3:41Speaker 1: of life, a setback as a setup for comeback, trying
- 3:45Speaker 1: setbacks and the greenbacks and attitude of excellence Chicken su
- 3:48Speaker 1: for the Christian soul. Writing one with my wife was
- 3:52Speaker 1: really difficult because she typically has been my editor of
- 3:56Speaker 1: all my books, and so when we went to write
- 3:59Speaker 1: this one, it was challenging because I have my own
- 4:03Speaker 1: voice and I had never that I had my own
- 4:06Speaker 1: voice and that I was not simply editing what he said.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So we we struggled for a little while. So we
- 4:13Speaker 1: figured out our speed and how it's work, and then
- 4:18Speaker 1: we would look at the ten principles that we had
- 4:21Speaker 1: developed over these thirty six years or at that point
- 4:24Speaker 1: it was about thirty thirty two years, thirty three years
- 4:27Speaker 1: when we wrote the book also and uh, then once
- 4:31Speaker 1: we got the principles lined up and said, okay, I
- 4:35Speaker 1: will write my part or my take, ora she write
- 4:37Speaker 1: her take, and that's when it really found magic, not
- 4:41Speaker 1: one other thing. When we wrote the book. We've been
- 4:43Speaker 1: married for thirty six years, haven't had an argument, and
- 4:46Speaker 1: over thirty three years, now, these first couple of years
- 4:49Speaker 1: with like World War three, I learned some principles that
- 4:52Speaker 1: helped us stop arguing and get to loving each other.
- 4:57Speaker 1: And I thought we were staring at you. She's staring
- 5:00Speaker 1: at you, Willie. She's staring at you while you talking. Now,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I don't know if all that's working in the direction
- 5:05Speaker 1: you know the book is, Willie says, and D says.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I think that was a D says stands she was
- 5:11Speaker 1: giving she she want to say about it. We got
- 5:15Speaker 1: the principle, but we had to then embrace them. Go
- 5:17Speaker 1: ahead there, I'm going forward school teacher too, so the
- 5:24Speaker 1: nonverbal communication, but embracing versus actually implementing in two different things. Right,
- 5:31Speaker 1: So we have mentors, we had information, but we had
- 5:34Speaker 1: to decide that we wanted to do this and that
- 5:38Speaker 1: we wanted to work through it together. I would say
- 5:42Speaker 1: that the most difficult part of the development of our
- 5:47Speaker 1: relationship is actually how we communicate. Because Willie speaks for
- 5:52Speaker 1: a living and he writes books in the life, so
- 5:56Speaker 1: sometimes it can be overpowering until you pulled back and say,
- 6:02Speaker 1: let's wait a minute, now, here's what I have to say,
- 6:07Speaker 1: and this is how I need you to communicate with me,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and that came to a head over the Chinese food. Yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 1: the biggest, the biggest challenge to our marriage came one
- 6:19Speaker 1: night in a Chinese restaurant where we carry carry out
- 6:22Speaker 1: when we almost broke up. And it's one of the
- 6:25Speaker 1: biggest points in our marriage. And we talked about the
- 6:28Speaker 1: three boulders that break up marriage, sex, money and communication
- 6:32Speaker 1: and communication is the three that we've threw all of
- 6:36Speaker 1: those and we almost came to to end of our
- 6:40Speaker 1: marriage over Chinese food. It was basically happened was her
- 6:44Speaker 1: family was coming to visit. I wanted to impress my
- 6:48Speaker 1: brother exactly to d C. I'm a nice little southern
- 6:52Speaker 1: girl from Hampton, Virginia. My father's was a pastor and
- 6:56Speaker 1: the life and I wanted to simply impress my brother
- 7:00Speaker 1: and his wife that we were doing okay and we
- 7:03Speaker 1: were doing well. And he said he, I said, what
- 7:05Speaker 1: do y'all want for them? He said, how about Chinese?
- 7:07Speaker 1: Y'all got good Chinese restaurants And they don't have a
- 7:09Speaker 1: lot of Chinese restaurants in the city where she's from
- 7:12Speaker 1: and a southern city. I said, got you I'm a
- 7:15Speaker 1: Chinese food of ficiatto. I'm an expert, right all the spots. Now,
- 7:20Speaker 1: she said, you like sushi. She had be educating the
- 7:23Speaker 1: sushi with you. Okay, so I know you got it,
- 7:26Speaker 1: you read it. Yeah. I also know that you're introverted
- 7:31Speaker 1: as well, so you keep going, keep going. So we
- 7:36Speaker 1: got to the restaurant. I told her here's what we need.
- 7:38Speaker 1: She said, no, we need more. I said, no, this
- 7:41Speaker 1: is all we need. No, we need more, and I
- 7:44Speaker 1: he was cheap. Okay, I'm known for metrate. You like
- 7:50Speaker 1: a dollar hollow right right right, right, right right right,
- 7:55Speaker 1: I said, here before we need and I got loud.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I got loud. Don't except the will behavior for him
- 8:02Speaker 1: to get loud with me, And so it got loud
- 8:06Speaker 1: and more intense, and finally it got I was fever pitch.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I was hollering, and she said, I will leave you married. Folks.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Here's a word I want you to learn. Dial it
- 8:20Speaker 1: back back, little phrase, dial it back, I said, dollar
- 8:24Speaker 1: back down the value. He ordered everything that I thought
- 8:27Speaker 1: We should have, went home, had dinner the end of
- 8:30Speaker 1: the night, after everybody eating, we had left overs. How
- 8:35Speaker 1: much a lot, a lot he doesn't like having Chinese
- 8:40Speaker 1: leftovers because he says they're not good the next step.
- 8:45Speaker 1: But he was right, it's too much. And so when
- 8:49Speaker 1: they left, we said, let's talk. You said he had
- 8:54Speaker 1: to have a conversation, which was a very wise thing.
- 8:57Speaker 1: On his birthday. I said, we need to talk about this.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You said, very clearly, I don't like anybody. I'm a
- 9:03Speaker 1: daddy's girl. My daddy Fire Bramstone Minister never raised his
- 9:11Speaker 1: voice to me. Always sweet, loving kind, my brother, and
- 9:16Speaker 1: I always you. And you went this big time talker,
- 9:20Speaker 1: this big time talker over here, he talks to thousands.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That's that's Willie here, a big time talker, right you
- 9:26Speaker 1: you you pe k, big time talker. Pe k at
- 9:30Speaker 1: the restaurant, he became a big time talker. MS introverts
- 9:36Speaker 1: stepped up a game. There you go, I said, And
- 9:40Speaker 1: she said, I don't like people holing at me. And
- 9:42Speaker 1: I said, got it. And now that I got yours,
- 9:48Speaker 1: let me tell you mine. I don't like people threatening
- 9:52Speaker 1: to leave me, and don't don't threaten me. And so
- 9:56Speaker 1: we made a we made an agreement. I said, I'm
- 10:00Speaker 1: never hauler at you again, and she said, I'll never
- 10:02Speaker 1: threaten to leave you. And that's been over thirty three years.
- 10:06Speaker 1: We haven't had an argument. Sense. We don't always agree,
- 10:09Speaker 1: but we've learned how to have systems that will help
- 10:13Speaker 1: us to disagree without being disagreeable. And that's a chapter
- 10:16Speaker 1: in the book that you disagree without being disagreeable. There
- 10:21Speaker 1: really there really isn't also isn't it also being disrespectful
- 10:26Speaker 1: to in that part right there? You know? Which I
- 10:28Speaker 1: which I like about the book is that you know
- 10:32Speaker 1: it's all about communication when you said it earlier, Willie,
- 10:34Speaker 1: because that were the communication and money, communication and big
- 10:37Speaker 1: communication with your kids, communication when you work all that,
- 10:41Speaker 1: if you don't communicate, and that was my biggest takeaway
- 10:44Speaker 1: from this whole book was that you guys have mastered
- 10:47Speaker 1: the art of communication. And that's what you're telling everybody.
- 10:51Speaker 1: If you don't communicate, you can be two different people.
- 10:54Speaker 1: And I love when you talk about you know, he
- 10:56Speaker 1: liked this type of food. I wasn't a sushi love.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I had to be brought home to that side of
- 11:01Speaker 1: the table. And then when you got to the whole
- 11:04Speaker 1: part about his daughter Sherry, that's the point where I
- 11:07Speaker 1: had the most fun in the book because d I
- 11:09Speaker 1: didn't know you but it is so vivid, it is
- 11:13Speaker 1: so colorful. You driving at five hours to pick up
- 11:17Speaker 1: his daughter, and you wouldn't one hundred be sent in
- 11:20Speaker 1: the club of going back inether like you said the
- 11:24Speaker 1: X white made her bad, as you said, sleep in it.
- 11:31Speaker 1: You know, blending familises can be very challenging, and and
- 11:35Speaker 1: and marriages where you're blending up families. She had been
- 11:39Speaker 1: back before I had a child, before I got married,
- 11:41Speaker 1: and we had to blend all of this and it
- 11:43Speaker 1: was very challenging. But again it was the communication. It
- 11:48Speaker 1: was the wise counsel of my mom, a mentor. When
- 11:53Speaker 1: I called her and said, what will he was going
- 11:56Speaker 1: to do? He was going to go pick up sherry,
- 12:00Speaker 1: like the house is calm, everybody gets along. Well, why
- 12:03Speaker 1: are you doing this? And my mother said to Nick,
- 12:07Speaker 1: I think what you said? She said, this is your
- 12:08Speaker 1: mama said, you want to be married to a man
- 12:12Speaker 1: that wants to be responsible to the children that he
- 12:15Speaker 1: brought into this world. That's what your mama took. Why
- 12:17Speaker 1: would you want a man like that? Why would you
- 12:20Speaker 1: respect a man like that? Why you wouldn't love a
- 12:22Speaker 1: man like that? That's what your mama said in this
- 12:25Speaker 1: book that I read, yes, you read that. That was
- 12:30Speaker 1: her mama. And let me tell you something. It was
- 12:33Speaker 1: the key because her mother made the difference, and so
- 12:36Speaker 1: you know that communication. Look, the communication chapter is probably
- 12:40Speaker 1: the biggest chapter book and we give that away free
- 12:42Speaker 1: and everybody want to give to all your listeners of
- 12:44Speaker 1: the people who are viewing it and go to jolly
- 12:48Speaker 1: marriage dot com. Jolly marriage dot com, get the free
- 12:51Speaker 1: chapter from that book and will bless you. And if
- 12:54Speaker 1: you choose to get the book, we recommend you get
- 12:56Speaker 1: two copies going for each of you. We've had so
- 12:58Speaker 1: many couples who are their way to divorce court who's saying,
- 13:02Speaker 1: we're gonna try one more time. They've got two copies
- 13:04Speaker 1: and at the end of each chapter they would talk
- 13:07Speaker 1: about what they learned. And we've had so many calls afterwards,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and one particular call and said, we've been married fifteen
- 13:13Speaker 1: years and we're not only not divorcing, but when we
- 13:17Speaker 1: got to the end, we closed the book and we
- 13:18Speaker 1: cried together because we realized we really didn't know much
- 13:22Speaker 1: about each other. So we want to give that away
- 13:24Speaker 1: jollick marriage dot com. If ever, we're talking about sex,
- 13:27Speaker 1: Chapter eight, Chapter eight, Chapter eight chapter eight. Now I
- 13:31Speaker 1: know about that chapter. Now chapter the hot chapter. I
- 13:36Speaker 1: think because it's titled Sex, Headaches and Other Lives, he
- 13:40Speaker 1: gets a lot of attention. But sex is not just intercourse,
- 13:44Speaker 1: absolutely the intimacy which women need more so than them man.
- 13:52Speaker 1: And it takes us along the road ending up with
- 13:57Speaker 1: sex intercourse. Right. But women need the words, they need
- 14:03Speaker 1: the roses, they need the tenderness rose, they need the
- 14:10Speaker 1: sweet talk. Look at him, look at him too much?
- 14:16Speaker 1: You too much? But you know it makes me want
- 14:21Speaker 1: to be close to him. You know the thing about it.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Times we forget then all of the confusion and chaos,
- 14:32Speaker 1: including the pandemic, we forget kind words, something tender, It
- 14:41Speaker 1: actually draws the woman in and helps develop romance. Right.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And I tell brothers, brothers, if you want some action
- 14:50Speaker 1: at night, you need to start working on it in
- 14:53Speaker 1: the morning. Thank you very much, working in the morning.
- 14:56Speaker 1: In the morning, I take our smoothie in the running
- 14:58Speaker 1: a cup offee. But she's at her desk. I sent
- 15:01Speaker 1: her a little text from my offer to her. Look
- 15:04Speaker 1: across the hall from each other. Sure look good today
- 15:08Speaker 1: things make a big difference and and it will work
- 15:12Speaker 1: better for you. Gentlemen, if you do it in that process,
- 15:16Speaker 1: not just coming at the last minute at night, gone
- 15:18Speaker 1: you're ready. You read that don't work. That don't work
- 15:21Speaker 1: in this world. You gotta be more thoughtful and caring
- 15:26Speaker 1: and tender to make a word of difference in your
- 15:29Speaker 1: love life. You'm stopping. I'm trying to interview you, y'all.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I got this. I read the book. I know y'all love,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I know this my communication with some people each other.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Will it stop it? It's finally here the season of celebration,
- 15:46Speaker 1: and no matter how you celebrate with family and friends,

- 17:39Speaker 1: E R dot ai. Okay, now, now let's talk about communication,
- 17:45Speaker 1: because I want to go back a little bit to
- 17:47Speaker 1: the sharing situation, because that was important because it was
- 17:51Speaker 1: about communication, because it was one person accepting another young
- 17:56Speaker 1: lady who was hostile because you didn't know, you know
- 17:59Speaker 1: them through our hands up after she drunk, because I
- 18:02Speaker 1: was I always remember it was a very similar situation
- 18:05Speaker 1: with my my older sister. I we moved her daughter
- 18:10Speaker 1: in and we set rules, and then six months later
- 18:14Speaker 1: she made the phone call. They treat me like I'm
- 18:16Speaker 1: in prison. They they they won't let me go out.
- 18:19Speaker 1: They won't and then of course, hey, the sister came
- 18:22Speaker 1: got her. And I always regret that I didn't put
- 18:25Speaker 1: up a bigger fight because I felt that she would
- 18:27Speaker 1: have lived a different life if she would have been
- 18:30Speaker 1: with us. And then but you had to change. That's
- 18:33Speaker 1: the adjustment in communication. You know, we could joke around
- 18:35Speaker 1: about the love, but this is the communication and accepting
- 18:38Speaker 1: situations that you may not be comfortable with. And that's
- 18:42Speaker 1: really what I took away when I read about the
- 18:44Speaker 1: situation with Sherry, do you were not comfortable and also
- 18:48Speaker 1: whether you were not comfortable because you had to mediate
- 18:52Speaker 1: two people you love, but also had to have discipline,
- 18:56Speaker 1: and then indeed you had to admit you had to
- 19:00Speaker 1: set some of the rulings that he put in place
- 19:04Speaker 1: to make this thing work. So there was acceptance, there
- 19:07Speaker 1: was a human communication, and also accepting the ability to
- 19:10Speaker 1: feel uncomfortable for the bigger goal. That was the most
- 19:13Speaker 1: amazing part of the book for me because I took
- 19:16Speaker 1: away so many different levels. That's great insight. And I
- 19:20Speaker 1: think that you have to be willing to accept your
- 19:26Speaker 1: own limitations and really who you are. Because if I
- 19:29Speaker 1: had not been willing to say, I'm like, I'm doing
- 19:33Speaker 1: this because I believe in in willing i married him.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I don't agree. We talked about that because he's my
- 19:42Speaker 1: best friend. The whole idea I gotta do all I
- 19:45Speaker 1: can to save my daughter. I had to be on board,
- 19:50Speaker 1: which meant I had to do the right thing, whether
- 19:55Speaker 1: I felt it or not, And that I think is
- 19:58Speaker 1: so major. We get many of us blended families. We
- 20:03Speaker 1: get caught up in the emotions and so we get
- 20:08Speaker 1: carried away to the wrong things. We know the right
- 20:12Speaker 1: things to do. We must do the right things, and
- 20:16Speaker 1: then gradually the emotions come in and the situation changes
- 20:22Speaker 1: hopefully right. And we talked about better in this chapter
- 20:26Speaker 1: called how to Handle a Stalemate. And it is a
- 20:32Speaker 1: great object lesson on when you have two people who
- 20:37Speaker 1: have opposite um. And that's something that we decided on
- 20:42Speaker 1: before we got married. Really had already talked about that
- 20:47Speaker 1: in terms of this is not really it's fifty one.
- 20:53Speaker 1: That might not be a popular position today, but one
- 20:57Speaker 1: you can't have a two headed You could have a
- 20:59Speaker 1: two headed my, but then you've got a monster. So
- 21:02Speaker 1: how do we work through this? We worked through it
- 21:04Speaker 1: by deciding early on I said to her, look, you
- 21:08Speaker 1: run everything, run the house, run the business. All I
- 21:11Speaker 1: want you to do is to make me think I'm
- 21:14Speaker 1: in charge. I thought that was such a wise statement
- 21:18Speaker 1: of this young man. So I said, make me. Let
- 21:21Speaker 1: me think I'm in charge. And I said, but what
- 21:23Speaker 1: I will ask for is Vito power. And when we
- 21:28Speaker 1: are at at at a place where we both are stalemate,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and all I ask you is give me Vito power.
- 21:35Speaker 1: And I promise you, I promise you I will never
- 21:38Speaker 1: abuse it. And in thirty six years of marriage, I've
- 21:43Speaker 1: used it maybe two or three times. Always related to
- 21:46Speaker 1: the children, Always related to the children, Always related to
- 21:49Speaker 1: the children, everything else we got. And I learned this
- 21:51Speaker 1: from my my, my mom and dad uh Ra Sean.
- 21:54Speaker 1: When my dad would be driving down the road, my
- 21:57Speaker 1: mom would be in a passenger seat. And you remember
- 22:00Speaker 1: back in old days, they didn't have lose the head
- 22:03Speaker 1: and left and you had that one rear view mirror.
- 22:06Speaker 1: You didn't have one on that side. And and we're
- 22:08Speaker 1: riding down the street and he said, can I get over?
- 22:10Speaker 1: And my mom will wrote that window down and stick
- 22:13Speaker 1: her head out to win. And she said either yes
- 22:15Speaker 1: or no. And he would take his action dependent on
- 22:19Speaker 1: what she told because they were teammates and they made
- 22:22Speaker 1: decisions together. So I took that object lesson when we
- 22:26Speaker 1: got married. Said, look, you're my teammate. Nine times out
- 22:28Speaker 1: of ten when you say we can get over, can,
- 22:31Speaker 1: I'm gonna listen to you because you're always in it
- 22:33Speaker 1: for our best good. But that one time we have
- 22:36Speaker 1: a difference, and I know morally it's this was a
- 22:39Speaker 1: moral decision, not emotional decision. With my daughter who was
- 22:43Speaker 1: acting up and her mama called and said you gotta
- 22:46Speaker 1: come get her, and D said, no, I don't want
- 22:48Speaker 1: to do it. This was a critical moral decision. I said,
- 22:51Speaker 1: we gotta do it. It's the right thing. I know
- 22:53Speaker 1: it's hard, but we gotta do it. And this is
- 22:57Speaker 1: one of those times I gotta use veto power. And
- 22:59Speaker 1: she said it okay. Once here's a big thing, with
- 23:03Speaker 1: show big thing. Once we said yes, she was all in.
- 23:09Speaker 1: But that is with anything where once you make the
- 23:14Speaker 1: decision okay, I want to go right, I want to
- 23:16Speaker 1: go left, I want to you want to be Once
- 23:19Speaker 1: you come to an agreement, you both have to be
- 23:23Speaker 1: all in. So even if it didn't turn out right,
- 23:26Speaker 1: I had to make sure that I had done everything
- 23:30Speaker 1: in my power that I could do to make it
- 23:34Speaker 1: a success, so that he could never say, well, you know, D,
- 23:37Speaker 1: you didn't do No, this is a joint effort and
- 23:42Speaker 1: we rise or fall together. And if it had gone
- 23:46Speaker 1: south and it hadn't worked out, it didn't work out,
- 23:48Speaker 1: work out fine. But if it had gone south, I
- 23:51Speaker 1: also knew she would never say to me, I told
- 23:54Speaker 1: you so, but that that you know, I already wouldn't
- 23:57Speaker 1: know the fact he wants to be told I messed up,
- 24:02Speaker 1: and you told me before and now you're gonna remind
- 24:04Speaker 1: me against the airport's story. Oh, we have so many
- 24:09Speaker 1: stories that it's the flight, right, but the flight and
- 24:14Speaker 1: that was my fault. I was, I knew it all,
- 24:17Speaker 1: I had it. I'm I'm, I'm a traveling hour. And
- 24:21Speaker 1: I said, we'll get that fine enough time. We don't
- 24:23Speaker 1: need to leave early. She keeps saying we need to leave.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I got it, And we get caught in traffic. We
- 24:29Speaker 1: missed the flight, and we're standing there and he's using
- 24:32Speaker 1: all his persuasive powers to get out of the flight.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Doors are closed, getting ready to pull back from the gate. Right,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I say, not not a word. And we eventually got
- 24:48Speaker 1: a connecting flight to get us to the place where
- 24:50Speaker 1: I had to speak the next morning. But at midnight
- 24:53Speaker 1: we got in where we could have been in at
- 24:55Speaker 1: six six pm. I but you know that she's a reminder.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Though she's a reminder, though you know what I'm saying,
- 25:05Speaker 1: what I'm not saying anything. I was already thinking I
- 25:10Speaker 1: would beat myself out, but I love to learn from that.
- 25:15Speaker 1: She had my back even when I messed up. I
- 25:17Speaker 1: wouldn't want to ask you this. I want to say
- 25:19Speaker 1: it to two spouses that you can have each other's
- 25:23Speaker 1: back even when you mess up, because they know they
- 25:25Speaker 1: messed up. I want to ask you this question because
- 25:30Speaker 1: you know, because it's the part, and because my wife
- 25:33Speaker 1: will go to church. I'm not the church corps. And
- 25:35Speaker 1: one of the one of the you know, recommendations of
- 25:37Speaker 1: the ten points is make God an equal part of
- 25:40Speaker 1: your marriage. I'm not saying it was not an equal part.
- 25:43Speaker 1: And I want, I want help with this, and I
- 25:45Speaker 1: wanted to help the my viewers and my listeners when
- 25:49Speaker 1: you talk about God, because you talk about certain points
- 25:52Speaker 1: that you prayed and your decisions were brought through prayer,
- 25:56Speaker 1: and I want help us through that whole process when
- 25:59Speaker 1: you say anything like that, this is this is a principle.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Now look what we talked about in this book of
- 26:05Speaker 1: ten principles. Now we wrote our ten principles. But then
- 26:10Speaker 1: after I thought the book was finished, we went an
- 26:12Speaker 1: interview people who made from marriage forty fifty seventy years
- 26:16Speaker 1: and one of the things they all said was make
- 26:18Speaker 1: God an equal party of marriage. They said that the
- 26:21Speaker 1: marriage is like a triangle has three corners. This is me,
- 26:26Speaker 1: this is the and this is God up the top.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Now this is thirty three This is thirty three percent,
- 26:33Speaker 1: but that's only what's left is thirty four percent. And
- 26:37Speaker 1: that's God. And so he has the majority ownership of
- 26:42Speaker 1: the marriage. And so he gives us these principles that work.
- 26:47Speaker 1: If we were use them now, so we practice the
- 26:51Speaker 1: concepts that come from from the Bible. Then the principles
- 26:57Speaker 1: are marriage. Now here, the principal principles work their bed rock.
- 27:01Speaker 1: They work over and over again, and I throw this
- 27:03Speaker 1: rock up, throw this rock up every time. It's gonna
- 27:06Speaker 1: come down every time, not doing a hundred times, a
- 27:09Speaker 1: million times, ten million times, because of a principle called gravity.
- 27:13Speaker 1: These principles work, They work overtime, over time and over
- 27:19Speaker 1: time because they are bed rock. Principles take romance, romances Solomon,
- 27:25Speaker 1: that's right, the Song of Solomon. So there's lots of principles.
- 27:28Speaker 1: And the Bible says the bed should not be undefiled.
- 27:31Speaker 1: That that you got a brother, gotta get hooked up.
- 27:33Speaker 1: That's what it means. That's really right. Understanding the difference
- 27:39Speaker 1: between sex and then less intimacy. Okay, women need intimacy
- 27:44Speaker 1: and security. Men needs sex and respect, and they are
- 27:48Speaker 1: principles that are gonna be all the time. Because even
- 27:51Speaker 1: the scientific study show that men think about sex seventeen
- 27:56Speaker 1: times a day on average, and sometimes before breakfast. So
- 28:01Speaker 1: we know that that is the case. So what we
- 28:03Speaker 1: say to married couples is understand that these principles are bedrock.
- 28:08Speaker 1: They work in the words, in the words, so we
- 28:11Speaker 1: trust God through our marriage and we run it through
- 28:13Speaker 1: that prison, everything through that thirty say about this raising kids,
- 28:19Speaker 1: how to be sweet to each other? Yeah, and I
- 28:21Speaker 1: stay out to be those words how to be sweet
- 28:24Speaker 1: to each other. But the tenderness, the the what sucking
- 28:28Speaker 1: from the breast and all that romantic stuff like that
- 28:38Speaker 1: that I love you. I want to thank y'all, man,
