Speaker 1: Direct from Hollywood with Ryan Seacrest. Lauren Spencer Smith has
• 0:04
Speaker 1: a bona fide breakout hit with her single fingers Crossed, which,
• 0:08
Speaker 1: like so many songs these days, first got traction on
• 0:10
Speaker 1: TikTok before spreading everywhere. But unlike most of those other hits,
• 0:14
Speaker 1: Lauren had a unique problem when fingers cross went viral
• 0:16
Speaker 1: because it wasn't exactly a song yet. She was so
• 0:19
Speaker 1: excited by what she'd been working on after a songwriting
• 0:21
Speaker 1: session that she posted a selfie video singing just a snippet,
• 0:24
Speaker 1: but that clip went viral almost instantly, leaving Lauren without
• 0:27
Speaker 1: a song to actually share. She tells Billboard, I definitely
• 0:30
Speaker 1: was in a panic because everybody's attention spans are so short.
• 0:33
Speaker 1: You have to pay attention to your audience and watch.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: If the comments are saying this is taking too long,
• 0:37
Speaker 1: I'm so annoyed, you need to announce a release date.
• 0:40
Speaker 1: But if the comments are still excited, you can keep
• 0:42
Speaker 1: building on that. Apparently Lauren played her cards right, finding
• 0:45
Speaker 1: a balance between the anticipation and actually getting to work,
• 0:48
Speaker 1: because she's now got a radio hit fingers Cross out.
• 0:50
Speaker 1: Now that's direct from Hollywood.
