Why is that even a law?

Is there such a thing as an outdated idea? Where do rules and laws originate? Are they always just? Do we ever outlive bad ideas? This is a serious question which I believe requires serious thought. I also believe there is a movement in human evolution which drives against any rule or law for perceived freedom, liberty and independence which is actually a different form of bondage and slavery.
