- 0:33B -side shit. B -side. B -side. And the B -side.
- 0:36Don't brag about taking my side piece! Don't
- 0:38brag about taking my side piece! That B -side
- 0:40thing. This is the B -Sides Boxing Podcast. I
- 0:44left with his belt and his girl. Who's fighting,
- 0:52like, somebody that everyone was complaining
- 0:54about? It's not. Oh, it's Opataya. Oh, that's
- 0:59right. He just had his shit announced too. That
- 1:02is an absolute stinker. Yeah. I didn't recognize
- 1:07the guy's name, but I don't think that's just
- 1:09because he's heavy. I think he's just not very
- 1:11famous. I've had this stupid cough for a month
- 1:15now. It won't go away. I think I might have actually
- 1:22caught a pretty bad lung infection when my brother
- 1:24was here and just ignored it because my brother
- 1:27was here. Oof. Which, not good. No. I convinced
- 1:33myself that I had pulled a muscle when I was
- 1:36drunk one night, but I think it might have just
- 1:38been my lung was hurting. Because this cough
- 1:41won't go away. A while ago I had, um, I caught
- 1:47bronchitis. out of nowhere i seriously don't
- 1:52remember where and that was uh that lasted for
- 1:56like a month the shit was not pleasant yeah well
- 2:00we're getting into when my allergies get really
- 2:02bad because all the cherry trees are going off
- 2:04so it's probably not going to get better for
- 2:07quite a while the air quality forecast is also
- 2:13shit uh sometimes stuff blows over from like
- 2:16india and The manufacturing areas over there?
- 2:21Yeah. China too, I bet. Yeah. I need more info
- 2:29on this one. Teofimo says he's leaving Eddie
- 2:31Reynoso. That, I thought, was going to be like
- 2:34a powerhouse move for him. Someone that'll keep
- 2:37him in check. What were the guys talking about
- 2:41this morning? Let me... I didn't see any actual
- 2:48evidence of it, but... Keon Davis knocked out
- 2:57T .O. Senior? Okay, so Shakira Stevenson tweeted,
- 3:09Never in my life could I sit there and watch
- 3:14my peer knock my dad out. And not throw a single
- 3:17punch. And then somebody else. Was. Yeah. Like
- 3:25they're just chatting about it. Anyways. If Tio's
- 3:28dad got knocked out. He fucking deserved it.
- 3:31Yeah he's not the type. I'd be too upset about.
- 3:36Yeah. When you know the boxing dad. They're problematic.
- 3:42Usually. Yeah the only good one I've ever seen
- 3:45was. Leo Santa Cruz's dad. He was the only one
- 3:50who was ever really mellow. I mean, Inouye's
- 3:54dad seems pretty chill. Lomachenko's dad's a
- 3:57good coach. Yeah, he coaches Usyk too, so you
- 4:01know he's good at it. I mean, there's more bad
- 4:07ones probably than good ones, but there are a
- 4:09couple boxing dads that seem fine. Yeah. Oh,
- 4:14you know what? Actually, here, I got what I want
- 4:17to be. The first one. Do you have the doc open?
- 4:21Yeah. Okay. Inouye's debut, or re -debut, in
- 4:29the U .S. vs. Who? Yeah. Ramon Cardenas. He's
- 4:39a pro box guy. He's not terrible, but... Come
- 4:45on, this is like an all -timer for this generation.
- 4:49There's no Americans that have anything for Inouye.
- 4:54Like, if they were going to do this, they should
- 4:56have done it with Fulton. Yeah, should have.
- 5:03Like, now there's nobody for him to fight. There's
- 5:09still options. I mean, I... I think the only
- 5:13one that still says it, but I think MJ is still
- 5:17a good fight to make. Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing
- 5:23the MJ fight, but I mean, he's not American.
- 5:27True. I don't think MJ is much of a draw in the
- 5:29States. I would imagine he's not even a draw
- 5:33in Uzbekistan. Just a guess. I don't know that
- 5:39MJ would bring in... any more people no so this
- 5:45is like this is the same situation that happened
- 5:48with inouye the first time is he didn't have
- 5:50a solid opponent the opponents were all like
- 5:54scattered throughout the rest of the card and
- 5:57it ended up being a stinker because the guy just
- 6:00came out to like he was seriously on his bike
- 6:02from round the first bell all the way to the
- 6:06end he was on his bike and in a way it was like
- 6:09who did he fight in the states It was Maloney,
- 6:12right? He did, but that was during COVID, so...
- 6:16Oh, okay. Not quite the same thing. Yeah, I think
- 6:21he fought Jason. And he fought in Scotland once,
- 6:30too, didn't he? Did he? Yeah, I think so. I might
- 6:37be wrong. Yeah, he fought Emmanuel Rodriguez
- 6:46in Glasgow. That was part of the Super Series.
- 6:52Antonio Neves. I don't... Well, I recognize his
- 6:56face. I don't think I know that name. Oh, I recognize
- 6:58his face. He's relative. Nobody. His Bach rec
- 7:04picture is bad. Yeah, him with a cut on his face.
- 7:10Some of them look stupid, but this just looks
- 7:12like he had his ass kicked. Yeah, they did him
- 7:15dirty with that one. Antonio Nieves, I was at
- 7:21that one. And, like, the crowd was very much
- 7:24in favor of Inoue. Like, he was apologizing.
- 7:27Like, man, I'm really sorry. I tried my best
- 7:31to make it exciting, but there's only so much
- 7:33I can do by myself without the opponent coming
- 7:38to compete. Everybody was completely understanding.
- 7:44It was at the they call it Punchbowl in StubHub
- 7:50Center. Now it's Dignity Health Sports Park.
- 7:56It's like no shit a gladiator arena. Really?
- 8:00That sounds awesome. It's really cool. There's
- 8:03something about that venue. When people come
- 8:05in they they come in like for hungry thirsty
- 8:09for blood they want their pound of flesh from
- 8:12the opponent it's nice it's wild i don't know
- 8:16what that venue does to people that's the one
- 8:18where uh brian mendoza upset fundora and he got
- 8:22that like leaping fucking knockout yeah yeah
- 8:26and he sent the tall man crumbling something
- 8:30about stubhub i'm gonna keep calling it stubhub
- 8:33because Punchbowl is kind of cheesy. Well, that's
- 8:38also just how old people work. Dignity Health
- 8:42Sports Park is a mouthful. It is. I hope that
- 8:52the card is at least better. With this opponent,
- 8:57you're not going to sell just in a way by himself.
- 9:01You're going to have to put other... other good
- 9:05fights on there put abdullah mason on there uh
- 9:08they've already got espinoza listed to fight
- 9:12oh it's a double header that's right oh that's
- 9:16oh i'm gonna have to try to go to this i mean
- 9:22you had to try to go to it anyways i yeah of
- 9:24course i was gonna try anyway but now i'm gonna
- 9:27double try Oh, Nevada. My American geography
- 9:37is not great, but that's like next door to Arizona,
- 9:40right? Yeah. It would take me with a man back
- 9:46a while ago before COVID. I had a sports car.
- 9:51I could get there in like three hours. Now it's
- 9:54not very far. It takes me like four. I have a
- 9:58small car now. I mean, that's what I used to.
- 10:03drive most weekends to visit my parents when
- 10:05i went to university four hours there four hours
- 10:08back yeah that's that's pretty much what it is
- 10:10and it's my i don't know if this is irresponsible
- 10:15probably is but i don't like i don't it's a weekend
- 10:19turnaround kind of thing like i don't need to
- 10:21get a pet sitter to come check in on them like
- 10:24my pets are old enough where they regulate their
- 10:28own food consumption without me needing to make
- 10:33sure they don't overeat or undereat or anything.
- 10:37Nice. Yeah, I got big kids now. My dogs were
- 10:43always like that. Everybody's like, you don't
- 10:45have them on a feeding schedule? Because I'd
- 10:47be at the bar and like, fuck it, dog's fine.
- 10:51And I was like, no. Why would you put your dog
- 10:55on a feeding schedule? Then you have to be home
- 10:58at certain points in the day. I had that problem
- 11:01when my dog was younger. She's a hound, so they
- 11:07just gobble up everything in front of them. And
- 11:10she turned into a little sausage that had four
- 11:14little sticks, like a little kid drawing an animal
- 11:19or something. That's what she looked like. So
- 11:22I had to get her on a schedule. She's better
- 11:24now. Now that she's older, I can leave her stuff
- 11:27out and she'll be fine. No, my dogs get a certain
- 11:30amount of food a day. If they eat all of that
- 11:33food, then they're hungry. Yep. They figure it
- 11:35out. Yeah, she's figured it out too. If I gobble
- 11:40it up now, I'm going to be hungry later. Yeah,
- 11:43our puppies, when we first got them, they were
- 11:46probably starving. It was just like some... some
- 11:51guy had accidental puppies is what it was so
- 11:54he wasn't particularly feeding them enough or
- 11:58anything and when we first got them they ate
- 12:00everything like everything and then they'd throw
- 12:05up They were only allowed to eat outside, and
- 12:10we'd give them their bowl. They'd eat outside.
- 12:12They'd eat all their food, and then they'd go
- 12:14look for, like, grasshoppers and frogs and things.
- 12:17Like, these dogs thought they were starving,
- 12:19and then they'd throw up. But after a couple
- 12:22weeks, they figured it out. I have a cat that
- 12:25I found on the street. Like, I say it all the
- 12:28time. I found him under a dumpster behind a restaurant,
- 12:31behind a diner. And he's... fat as shit now he
- 12:36still eats like he's on the streets yeah even
- 12:42though there's always food for him but man tubby
- 12:46little bastard speaking of tubby little bastards
- 12:48adrian broner loaded fucking dice what the hell
- 12:53is he doing i'm i'm trying to find a story on
- 12:56this because this is this is just too good i
- 12:58know that it's a real thing i saw the headline
- 13:00as well but i Well, and I'm pretty sure it's
- 13:04a new mugshot. It's not an old mugshot that's
- 13:06going around. It is. Because I would recognize
- 13:10his old one if I saw it. Well, also, he looks
- 13:13old as fuck in this much mugshot. $6 million.
- 13:18He ripped off NBA players for $6 million. Damn.
- 13:24That's crazy. That is wild. I'm curious how you
- 13:30would even get away with that. Well, it must
- 13:37have been underground games, right? Of course.
- 13:40It was just like, quote -unquote, among friends
- 13:43just having fun shooting dice. Like the same
- 13:46way people have poker nights or whatever. Well,
- 13:50that's the other thing. Who plays dice with friends?
- 13:56It's a... How do I... It's a thing. A cultural
- 14:01thing? Yeah, it's like a black people thing.
- 14:04Playing dice. Wasn't sure how I wanted to put
- 14:09that, but I mean, that's what it is. I sure have
- 14:14never played dice for money. Well, no, that's
- 14:17a lie. For real money with my friend. I played
- 14:23poker for a little while. I guess my family does
- 14:30have a dice game that we play for money. Kind
- 14:32of big quotes on that. It's like a quarter a
- 14:35game. But if you decided to put real money on
- 14:39it, you could. Yeah, that's how the bingo was
- 14:45for us. I was picturing like craps. It's like
- 14:51a reduced, a simplified version of craps. Fair
- 14:55enough. But I've never played. I've seen people
- 14:59play. I've kind of just watched. Like, I don't
- 15:03understand what's happening here, but this is
- 15:05exciting because I see money moving hands. Yeah,
- 15:09yeah. Yeah, so it's fun. Loaded dice. Seriously.
- 15:13I've only heard of those. Well, I used to play
- 15:18D &D, and I had a friend that made himself a
- 15:21set of loaded dice. But he loaded it to be ones.
- 15:27Was he, like, purposefully, like, tanking it?
- 15:30Yeah, yeah. If he thought it was funny, he would
- 15:33pull out these dice and then, like, purposefully
- 15:37fuck up bad so the DM had to come up with something.
- 15:41Honestly, that is actually pretty cool. That
- 15:44is something I would do, 100%. Yeah, it was pretty
- 15:48funny. And then I... also suspicious he had one
- 15:53that was loaded for like 17. like not a guaranteed
- 15:57hit but loaded that he'd usually hit but we never
- 16:01proved that one yeah he wouldn't he wouldn't
- 16:05confirm that one ever but man broner's like what
- 16:11are you doing dog i want to know which nba players
- 16:15uh who it's got to be the uh Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 16:23He's an Ohio guy, so it's got to be them. Yeah.
- 16:29Or I was wondering if just, like, one or two
- 16:31retired ones. Maybe. Like, I don't watch NBA.
- 16:38I don't either. Like, Charles Barkley or somebody.
- 16:43Like, I want to know how famous they were. Yeah.
- 16:45These names that I recognize. Yeah, or you like
- 16:48playing with the benchers. The subs. Fucking
- 16:55Broner. Broner, man. What are you doing? I thought
- 17:01he was trying to get his comeback going. Seriously,
- 17:05it was... It's a redemption. It would have been
- 17:10a redemption story. Like finally taking shit
- 17:14seriously. I don't know. Instead, he's out here
- 17:19scamming the whole hood. Right. The whole hood
- 17:23knows that those weren't loaded dice. He's the
- 17:29only he's the other one that I say my old refrain
- 17:33of game recognized game. Broner needs to get
- 17:36some help. Then it's not help that loaded dice
- 17:39is going to give you. Yeah, no. Broner is just
- 17:44he needs help. He's always going to be a big
- 17:47what -if story. Man, because 135 Broner, before
- 17:52he did the jump to fight Marcos Maidana, 135
- 17:57Broner was a fucking problem. And no pun intended
- 18:00that that was his ring name. He was a problem.
- 18:05That guy was... I'm trying to figure out a good
- 18:13analogy, a good analog. for him but like super
- 18:18fast hands really smart footwork uh counters
- 18:24were really sharp he was and his power was excellent
- 18:28at 35 and he like lost it moving up pretty boy
- 18:33floyd almost yeah pretty boy -esque yeah like
- 18:38not Late career Mayweather, but early career
- 18:42Mayweather. People compared him to that a lot,
- 18:46and then he just fucked it up. Yeah. Yeah, Maidana
- 18:51beat more than just his undefeated record off.
- 18:57It's too bad. And then he goes out and gets loaded
- 19:02dice with a fucking tool. Have you, well, maybe,
- 19:07we probably haven't, but he has, like, a record
- 19:10label about Billions Records, and he himself
- 19:14has put out rap albums. They're not very good.
- 19:20But I gave him a shot. No, I have not heard them.
- 19:24I doubt it would be my kind of music. Yeah, I
- 19:28had to try to support my brother in bipolarness.
- 19:33But it was just difficult to listen to. I don't
- 19:38know. Maybe I don't get it. That might be what
- 19:39it is. I just don't get it. Oh, man. Moving down.
- 19:47Man, AJ. Injured. Yeah, I missed the injury.
- 19:52What's he injured with? I'm still trying to find
- 19:55out. All that I know is that they had been working
- 19:59towards the Tyson Fury fight. Because apparently
- 20:02the Saudis are interested in putting it on. And
- 20:06they were so interested in putting it on, they
- 20:10were willing to put it on in the UK. Well, if
- 20:14that fight happens, it has to be. It has to be.
- 20:16You can't put that shit in Riyadh. Yeah. I wonder
- 20:26if this is related to the Jake Paul. Uh, rumors.
- 20:32Jake Paul and AJ? Yeah, you didn't hear that?
- 20:36No. What? Yeah, there's rumors that Jake Paul
- 20:40and AJ are gonna fight. Wow. That is a big money
- 20:45fight. That came out, or came out, that started
- 20:49like a week ago, and now AJ's injured? Magically.
- 20:54I wonder. Yeah. He didn't have anything in the
- 20:59pipeline. Like, why would he be feigning the
- 21:02injury to pull out of? If he loses to Jake Paul.
- 21:09It would be time to, that's time to hang it up.
- 21:13Become an influencer or something. Because that
- 21:17shit is unacceptable. You're an actual, legit,
- 21:21two -time heavyweight champion. And you lose
- 21:24to Jake Paul? Time to pack it in, champion. It's
- 21:28time to go home. Yeah. So what's Eddie Hearn's
- 21:35quote in this Daily Mail article? He needs another
- 21:40eight weeks or so on his injury. He had a little
- 21:43bit of a setback and he won't be punching for
- 21:45about that period of time. Broken hand. So really,
- 21:48yeah, it's got to be a hand or a torn bicep,
- 21:51right? Yeah. It was a minor setback, but he's
- 21:56got to be physically right before he gets into
- 21:59training camp. Yeah, no shit. I'm just reading
- 22:04the quotes. No, I'm not saying you. No shit,
- 22:08Eddie, of course. That's the fucking point of
- 22:10camp. You go into it healthy, and then you improve
- 22:12from that. I don't know why he would... Well,
- 22:17I don't know shit about training, I guess. I
- 22:19don't know why he'd be punching anything hard
- 22:21enough to break his hand, though. I wonder if
- 22:23it's a weightlifting injury. Because AJ looks
- 22:27like he likes to lift weights between camps.
- 22:30He does do the Olympic -style power cleans and
- 22:34that type of stuff. The explosive type of lifting.
- 22:40You could tear a bicep doing that pretty easy,
- 22:42I think. But yeah, I'm not sure how you would
- 22:45break a hand doing that unless you drop a weight
- 22:47on yourself. I mean, it could happen. It could.
- 22:53It's just difficult. That would be pretty stupid.
- 22:56In all my time powerlifting, I dropped a weight.
- 23:01It fell and then it landed on my foot after it
- 23:05fell and just kind of flopped over. So there's
- 23:09that. Broken hands. I guess if you can't stand
- 23:13properly, you can't punch properly. It could
- 23:15be a foot. It could be anything. It could be
- 23:18anything. I'm thinking if he's needing eight
- 23:20weeks, it's a broken bone or like a torn ligament.
- 23:26Yeah. It's got to be. I don't know why I went
- 23:29straight to bicep, but my gut's telling me torn
- 23:32bicep. Yeah. He's getting a little older. He
- 23:35likes to lift weights. That takes about eight
- 23:38weeks. yeah that exactly it's something torn
- 23:42and or uh broken bone depending on the location
- 23:48like my hands when i broke them took uh six to
- 23:53eight weeks so makes sense but god um the other
- 24:00other than tyson fury i didn't know jake paul
- 24:03was on the table that's pretty fucking cool Yeah,
- 24:08AJ said he would fight Jake Paul. Good, good.
- 24:11He'll just do the same thing he did to Ngannou.
- 24:14Just, like, end the farce. Yeah, it would be
- 24:19good. I'm not seeing in this little report I
- 24:25got that the top half of his body is injured
- 24:28from Eddie Hearn. That's his words. i'm on a
- 24:35boxing news here the top half of his body there
- 24:38you go i'll give you that it's nothing major
- 24:40he's returning to he's been returning to training
- 24:43he's not quite ready to turn back to camp eight
- 24:47to ten weeks before he can punch properly that's
- 24:49it like yeah yeah it's a broken hand there is
- 24:54a bicep it's got to be something yes it's a pretty
- 24:57serious injury mild moderately serious we'll
- 25:02say not career AJ's getting old yeah AJ's uh
- 25:07younger than me yeah but he's getting old yes
- 25:13I am that's what I mean is that I'm old as shit
- 25:15so that was I hadn't watched the NHL for a long
- 25:21time and I watched it and I was like how is this
- 25:23guy still playing and then I looked closer and
- 25:26it's like his son oh he's in the NHL now and
- 25:29I was like fuck Like, stab me in the heart, Father
- 25:34Kai. Man, stabs in the heart. The TKO. The Dana
- 25:44White Saudi Boxing League TKO boxing. The pay
- 25:48structure has come out. And it is atrocious.
- 25:54Oh, my God, is it atrocious. So let's just, here's
- 25:58just the flat numbers. 20 ,000 for unranked fighters
- 26:03fighting in a 10 -round bout. 20 ,000. 50 ,000
- 26:08for fighters ranked in the bottom of the top
- 26:1210. 125 for third and fourth. 375 for a championship
- 26:21challenger. And 750 for the champion defending
- 26:25his title. These do not sound like big numbers
- 26:29to me. This is not boxing standard. Oh, we're
- 26:34shaking up the sport. Yeah, you're going to not
- 26:37get anybody worth a fuck. My one question is,
- 26:41the UFC does pay the trainers and that sort of
- 26:46stuff, right? They pay the cutmen. I don't know
- 26:51if they pay the trainers directly. I couldn't
- 26:55say that. Yeah, I don't watch the UFC, but my
- 26:59understanding, and I could be very wrong, somebody
- 27:02can correct me, was that they pay the training
- 27:06fees and a bunch of those other things and medical
- 27:10bills and things, and then the fighter actually
- 27:13gets all this money themselves. Oh, even though
- 27:18the cost is lower, they're not having to split
- 27:20it amongst XYZ. Yeah, like the league pays some
- 27:28of the quite a bit of the expenses. They have
- 27:31medical staff and stuff on retainer. The only
- 27:36way this makes sense at all is if they're doing
- 27:39something like that with the boxing, where you
- 27:43don't have to pay as much of the out -of -pocket
- 27:47things for your team. But this still doesn't
- 27:51seem like very much money to me. No. Like 20
- 27:55grand? Even if they're buying your equipment
- 27:58and your training and stuff, I make fucking 20
- 28:02grand in six months. It doesn't seem like very
- 28:08much money to go put your health on the line.
- 28:1120 grand at the peak of my powers. That's, yeah,
- 28:18like two, maybe three months. But that was, like,
- 28:23peak time for me. Otherwise, yeah, that's my
- 28:28six months, too. This isn't. And these are high
- 28:32-level professional athletes. That wasn't supposed
- 28:34to be a brag or anything. I don't think making
- 28:37$20 ,000 in six months is very impressive. No.
- 28:40No. When you're talking about professional fighters,
- 28:45like, that is not a lot of money. I expect better.
- 28:49And how many 10 round bouts do people really
- 28:52like once you're getting up into the 10 rounders,
- 28:54you're doing like two or three fights a year
- 28:56usually, right? Two or three, like three is probably
- 29:00maximum. If you got an early stoppage in one
- 29:05of them, perhaps. Max, you're going to make 60
- 29:08grand a year. Assuming, assuming that this league
- 29:14or whatever they're calling themselves pays for
- 29:16fucking everything else. that's not very much
- 29:20money that's a very strong like a very generous
- 29:23assumption too i highly doubt they're gonna they'll
- 29:27have um it's like the ufc like from what i understand
- 29:30they're gonna have some of the ufc infrastructure
- 29:33on the back end available to them so they'll
- 29:36have training facilities they'll have medical
- 29:38facilities that they could go to so those things
- 29:41are taken care of but like paying your coach
- 29:43that's on you i would imagine and other lodging
- 29:48housing expenses or logistical expenses that's
- 29:52on you and how you arrange that out of how do
- 29:55you arrange that out of 20k because like if you're
- 29:57getting robert garcia you're paying that man
- 30:00a lot of money for his time his time is extremely
- 30:02valuable uh yeah this is nonsense like best case
- 30:09scenario absolute best case scenario you you're
- 30:14making construction worker money like i don't
- 30:20know i just i don't see this being a good deal
- 30:22for anyone to sign on with these guys no like
- 30:27i don't i think we when this first came up when
- 30:31we first talked about it it was they're gonna
- 30:33get a lot of just kids signing on and they're
- 30:37gonna like uh grow them up through this league
- 30:42structure and they're not gonna know any better
- 30:46Yeah, but they're not going to be in North Korea.
- 30:53They're going to talk to other boxers. They're
- 30:56going to realize they're getting fucked. Eventually.
- 31:00Because of how boxing works and how it works
- 31:07with the UFC as well, how it works with the athletic
- 31:12commissions, how much they get paid is public
- 31:13record. So that's how we know Canelo's getting
- 31:17paid $35 million on his guarantee. And then we
- 31:21don't know what his splits are, but we know he
- 31:24gets a split on pay -per -view and gate. And
- 31:28these guys are not going to get that at all.
- 31:31Not even a little bit. Not even these $750K for
- 31:34a title defense. Canelo defending his title against
- 31:38Edgar fucking Berlanga. He made $750K just walking
- 31:43to the ring. This is ridiculous. I know that
- 31:47Canelo is not a good example because he's like
- 31:49the very peak of the sport. But who's a title
- 31:59holder that isn't very popular? Espinosa. Yeah.
- 32:07He's making more than $750 ,000 a fight. I am
- 32:12beyond certain. He's making more than that much.
- 32:19Madrimov? Like, what did Madrimov get paid? To
- 32:22fight Bud? That's not quite the... Not quite
- 32:26the same. Yeah, because the Saudis are... They
- 32:29inflate... That's true. Paychecks. The same shit
- 32:35that people were complaining about with Al -Hayman.
- 32:38Saudis are doing some of the same things. I'm
- 32:42not seeing a lot of the same complaints. Curious.
- 32:47Yeah. I don't know, man. I think this league's
- 32:53just going to fuck over a bunch of kids and then
- 32:55disappear. Yeah, they're not going to last. Dana
- 32:59White's been trying to get himself into boxing
- 33:01for ages. Well, and I don't know anything about
- 33:05this either, but the guys on the Pro Box podcast...
- 33:09Like Chris Algieri and what's his name? Pauly?
- 33:13That one's Pauly, yeah. They've been talking
- 33:16about the Muhammad Ali Act and how this structure
- 33:19just like is completely illegal. Yeah, actually,
- 33:24that's a good point. They keep just going, but,
- 33:28you know, Trump can change that and he likes
- 33:31Dana White. So they need the government to step
- 33:37in and change the laws for this to even be possible.
- 33:41Not necessarily. What they need, and which is
- 33:46what they're going to get, is they need for the
- 33:48law, for the Muhammad Ali Act, to not be enforced.
- 33:53Fair enough. Yeah, they don't need a change.
- 33:55They just need it to not be enforced. This lines
- 33:59up perfectly. Of course he's getting into boxing
- 34:02now. Now that somebody is in the White House
- 34:05who's not going to enforce the Ali Act. Because
- 34:08if anybody tries to bring the case, the case
- 34:10will just get sent to a court that is favorable
- 34:13to Dana White and Trump. And it won't even be
- 34:18heard. I would like to say I don't think that
- 34:23would happen, but that could happen. But this
- 34:28this structure is just straight up illegal in
- 34:31the US right now. If the yeah, if there was some
- 34:35just all things taking the political figureheads
- 34:39out of the equation. Yes. Illegal. But and I
- 34:44don't really understand. Like, I haven't done
- 34:47any research into it. This is me kind of summarizing
- 34:51what they're saying. But it's because the promoters
- 34:54and the managers. can't also be yeah they can't
- 35:01be the same person and there's something about
- 35:02the league structure as well like you need to
- 35:07have a semblance of fighting outside your own
- 35:13little group as well i think i didn't really
- 35:17understand but if anybody's interested they've
- 35:20been talking about it over on the pro box podcast
- 35:23thing on youtube for weeks now there's lots of
- 35:27information from those two and algeria does a
- 35:30podcast with some other guy too and they talked
- 35:34about it as well can't remember what that one's
- 35:37called or who the guy is is it john boy or something
- 35:41that sounds familiar but i don't i don't know
- 35:45it's precisely the guy the guy's dad invented
- 35:52CompuBox like he started okay yeah anyways him
- 35:57and Algieri do a podcast as well I just like
- 36:00Chris Algieri he seems intelligent he is he is
- 36:04100 absolutely intelligent um yeah I'm gonna
- 36:08have to check out the pro box see what they have
- 36:10to say like on how and Pauly whatever his other
- 36:15faults might be he's actually smarter than i
- 36:18thought he was yeah he's actually whatever his
- 36:21other faults he's he is not stupid he is not
- 36:23a stupid person at all no so i hate him as a
- 36:28commentator but on the um on the podcast he's
- 36:32actually like he brings up some good points and
- 36:34he's not afraid to go against the grain yeah
- 36:38and be loud about things yeah that's uh yeah
- 36:45like i said despite his myriad of faults, at
- 36:49least as I see them anyway. The guy does, when
- 36:53it comes to boxing and boxing business, he knows
- 36:55what he's talking about. Yeah, and he loves yelling,
- 36:59yeah, and if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.
- 37:01What the fuck are we talking about here? It's
- 37:04like his unofficial catchphrase. That sounds
- 37:06exactly like something he would say. Yeah. Anyway,
- 37:10I highly recommend the Pro Box podcast. I really
- 37:14enjoy it. I highly recommend Probox fucking anything.
- 37:19Probox is good. Probox? I am pissed. It's not
- 37:23on the schedule for us to talk about, but I am
- 37:26pissed they moved to the weekend. I am too. God.
- 37:29Damn, I'm so upset that they did that. Like,
- 37:32why? You had your niche. Yeah. Stay on Wednesday.
- 37:36Wednesday night fights was your thing. Yeah.
- 37:39People were excited. You weren't competing with
- 37:42anything. Get the fuck back on Wednesday. Like,
- 37:45when you're on Saturday, there's gonna be bigger
- 37:48fights I'm gonna watch, and then I have to come
- 37:50back and watch you later. But for me, Thursday
- 37:53morning, I just made it so I had, like, a long
- 37:57incubation at work where I had to sit at my desk
- 37:59for an hour. Oh, woe is me. I just have to stay
- 38:03at my desk. Oh, no. Yeah. Hmm. Too bad that there's
- 38:08this boxing on Thursday morning. Yeah, it was
- 38:13fun. It was the Wednesday night fun. For all
- 38:18the quote -unquote hardcore fans, I'd ping the
- 38:23hardcore fans like, hey, Pro Box is about to
- 38:26start. Let's fucking crack a cold one, man, because
- 38:29I don't know what we're about to see, but it's
- 38:32going to be fucking wild. Yeah. But on Saturday,
- 38:36there's just other shit going on. Exactly. I'm
- 38:38not going to ditch. I'm not going to not watch
- 38:41Tank Roach so that I can watch Pro Box instead.
- 38:45It's not going to happen. I watched Pro Box later.
- 38:49Of course. I do too. But it's not as fun. And
- 38:53nobody's online to talk shit. It's just not as
- 38:59fun. I try to do that sometimes. Go back to Wednesday.
- 39:02Yeah, go back to Wednesday. their numbers were
- 39:06solid like they would put up they would show
- 39:08their numbers sometimes i think they it was an
- 39:11advertisement for i'm not for sponsors i think
- 39:16it was like like look at the number of like concurrent
- 39:19viewers peak viewers that type of stuff yeah
- 39:23they were getting like hundreds of thousands
- 39:25of people sometimes hundreds of thousands like
- 39:28peak concurrent viewers was in the millions like
- 39:32one one one two at some time or i think that
- 39:35was over the span of all their cards in a month
- 39:37but nonetheless that's still a lot of people
- 39:40yeah like i don't know man go back to wednesday
- 39:45seriously go back to wednesday in your lane yeah
- 39:47oh shit thanks for the t up speaking of staying
- 39:52in your lane tiofimo lopez leaves Eddie Reynoso.
- 39:56What a fucking mistake. I cannot. This is a mistake.
- 40:02Yeah, but did Tio Fimo leave Reynoso or did Reynoso
- 40:06kick him out? And he's letting him save face.
- 40:10Tio's seeming very crazy right now. All right.
- 40:17I got some Lopez quotes here. I got news for
- 40:21you guys. I won't be trading with them. i .e.
- 40:24the Reynoso camp. I was looking forward to leaving
- 40:27tomorrow for camp with them. Maybe they don't
- 40:31feel I'm focused, which is pretty interesting.
- 40:33Could be a lot of things, just time frame. Maybe
- 40:35could be promoting. Eddie doesn't really elaborate.
- 40:41Didn't elaborate and speak to my father. I don't
- 40:45know if I did something wrong or if it was me
- 40:49or if they're just focused on themselves. Yeah,
- 40:54that sounds like Reynoso choosing not to train
- 40:59Tio. And I don't really blame him. Tio's seeming
- 41:03really crazy, and so is his father right now.
- 41:06Yeah, well, they're trying to promote their next
- 41:10card. Yeah, but I wouldn't want to deal with
- 41:16that. And to be honest, you could probably deal
- 41:19with Tio being crazy, but it's his dad. Nobody
- 41:22wants to deal with his dad. I thought this was
- 41:26them. I thought that if anybody was going to
- 41:29be able to cut Teofimo Sr. out of this, it would
- 41:34have been Eddie. And just the quality of that
- 41:38camp would have been enough to get him out of
- 41:42the driver's seat. I think Eddie probably thought
- 41:47he could cut him out as well. And I wouldn't
- 41:50be surprised if that was the deciding factor,
- 41:53was Tio's dad refusing to be cut. Yeah. I feel
- 42:03so bad for Tio. And every time his dad talks
- 42:06to him when he's being interviewed and stuff,
- 42:08you can just see him get so tense and flustered.
- 42:14yeah been saying it he needs to his career was
- 42:19i don't know if it's resurgence or what but the
- 42:22second wind of what his career is right now is
- 42:25gonna start when he ditches his dad and that's
- 42:29obviously a lot to ask uh but nonetheless like
- 42:34your own success depends on it yeah well i think
- 42:39that really is a big part of what holds teo back
- 42:43yeah absolutely i suspect if he got away from
- 42:47his dad it would help with the crazy just getting
- 42:50away from his dad but other people could step
- 42:53in and actually get him help with the crazy here
- 42:57another quote is it doesn't make sense whatever
- 43:03the case may be we love them we appreciate them
- 43:06i appreciate having that time with eddie uh from
- 43:10that experience a little bit It won't be the
- 43:13end of our story with them. They're just on tunnel
- 43:16vision right now. We'll see. Am I disappointed
- 43:21about it? Yeah, I am, but I take it as competition.
- 43:25I don't think they would have put me as the co
- 43:27-main to Canelo. I think they would have put
- 43:30me underneath Munguia, who is the co -main. He's
- 43:34a great fighter, but he's not Teofimo. When you
- 43:37refer to yourself in the third person, I... I
- 43:43was going to say I'd like to smack you, but you'd
- 43:45beat my ass anyway, so let's not do that. Yeah.
- 43:51Yeah, I feel really bad for Tio, but those quotes
- 43:54really do make it sound like Reynoso decided
- 43:57not to train him. Yeah, I think you're right.
- 44:00I think you're right. It's unfortunate because
- 44:02Tio deserves... He deserves better than his father
- 44:06lets him get. Yeah. No, Tio... It doesn't seem
- 44:13to me like Tio has a very good life at home.
- 44:16No. His family drove him to divorce, and now
- 44:24he doesn't get to see his kid. Not very often,
- 44:26anyway. Yeah. Nah, I feel bad for Tio. But I
- 44:33really don't know what we're going to see. In
- 44:36his next fight. I cannot nail it down at all.
- 44:39Like, the crazy levels are high enough we might
- 44:41get peak T .O., but his opponent is mid enough,
- 44:46he might not. I think it's going to be okay.
- 44:50Barbosa isn't the best, but I think he's good
- 44:55enough. At least good enough to bring the best
- 44:58out of Lopez. You think he's better than Cambosis?
- 45:05Arnold Barbosa? Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. That's
- 45:12not a very high barrier to get over. It's not.
- 45:16It's not. Cambo has another fight coming up too,
- 45:24doesn't he? How does that man keep getting such
- 45:26big fights? It's this weekend. He's fighting
- 45:30in Australia against a late replacement. I don't
- 45:34remember who the replacement is. Something Wiley?
- 45:39Oh, yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Support for this
- 45:45episode is from Malwarebytes. Protecting yourself
- 45:47online is an absolute must, and it takes a lot

- 47:03-E. Let me... I want to re -tee. So, being better
- 47:12than Cambosos, not a high barrier to get over.
- 47:15Speaking of breaking barriers, Alicia Baumgartner
- 47:18signs with MVP Most Valuable Promotions. That's
- 47:22the Jake Paul one. That's where Amanda Serrano
- 47:24is. Jake Paul's getting Serrano. Big fight. This
- 47:29is a good move. I know a lot of people like to
- 47:36clown on Jake Paul. A lot of people like to shit
- 47:38on him because he acts like a jackass in front
- 47:40of the camera. I know that. I know he does. But
- 47:43my man is taking care of fucking business. He
- 47:46gets Serrano paid. He's going to get Baumgartner
- 47:49paid. He is a very positive force for boxing.
- 47:55This is like what... the type of shit that you
- 47:57would hope someone with the clout Dana White
- 48:00has, this is what you would hope they would do
- 48:02is to elevate women's fights, uh, smaller weight
- 48:08classes, elevate those fights. That's what he
- 48:11does. That's what Jake Paul does. Um, you can,
- 48:15if you disagree with me, fucking eight, three,
- 48:17three Lux pots. Tell me why. Tell me why you're
- 48:21wrong about Jake Paul. Jake Paul as a promoter
- 48:27is good. Yeah. Jake Paul as a fucking circus
- 48:31act, I hate. As a personality, yes. He's doing
- 48:35exactly what... You are reacting to him one of
- 48:40the ways that he wants you to. You either hate
- 48:43him, you love him, or you hate him. And I get
- 48:46why people hate. I get it. I really, really do.
- 48:52Do not misunderstand the guy's fucking annoying
- 48:54when he's in the fighter position and he's promoting
- 48:58himself. But Serrano and Katie Taylor, they've
- 49:03made life -changing money. Better than any of
- 49:09that TKO pay structure bullshit. Oh, for sure.
- 49:15And now Baumgartner, who is another very, very
- 49:19talented woman. super athletic, fucking explosive,
- 49:24dynamic. I'm not sure what other buzzwords I
- 49:27could use, but she is awesome. I'm really glad
- 49:31to see her getting signed to someone who's going
- 49:33to give her the attention that she deserves.
- 49:36She has a lot of belts right now, right? Yes.
- 49:40Baumgartner? I think she's undisputed. Is she
- 49:42undisputed? Yeah. Wow, you can't check that on
- 49:48BoxRec anymore, can you? You'd have to look up
- 49:52WBA separately, but if she has the IBO, it's
- 49:57safe to assume she has the WBA as well. She has
- 50:01the IBF and then IBO. Oh, so she's not. Oh, yeah.
- 50:10She fought Delphine Pursuit in Georgia. They
- 50:15had that no contest. I think Delphine got a nasty
- 50:18cut. Right. Yeah, I think that was just a head
- 50:26clash, wasn't it? It was. It was an accidental.
- 50:30The little bit I could see from the replay didn't
- 50:33look intentional in any way. I wouldn't expect
- 50:38either of those guys to intentionally be throwing
- 50:40headbutts. Okay, so she is the IVF. World Superfeather,
- 50:49IBO, World Superfeather, WBC, and WBO. Which
- 50:54is probably also the WBA. Which one of these
- 51:01is not a real belt? IBO. IBO. Okay. Yeah. That's
- 51:09the belt that Manny Pacquiao won at 140. Just
- 51:14in case you were wondering. Let's see. A quote
- 51:21from Bob Gardner while you're looking that up.
- 51:24I've always believed in betting on myself and
- 51:27signing with MVP is the next big move in that
- 51:29journey. MVP has proven their leaders in women's
- 51:33boxing, creating the biggest opportunities for
- 51:36fighters like me to shine. This partnership is
- 51:39a natural fit. Yeah, she's also got the WBA,
- 51:43so she's undisputed. Man. No, I think... I think
- 51:49MVP might be the best one for the women right
- 51:53now. It is. It's got to be. J -Paul is putting
- 51:56a lot of effort into getting the women their
- 51:59money. Not that the other guys are particularly.
- 52:03Is that what I'm hearing? Woke DEI bullshit?
- 52:07Yeah. Sorry to interrupt. No, it's fine. It's
- 52:14not that the other guys don't, but I think he
- 52:17puts more emphasis on it. Because he doesn't
- 52:19have any other fighters, I guess. Or many other
- 52:22fighters, I should say. Eddie puts good emphasis
- 52:26on women as well. Yeah. But not nearly as much
- 52:30as MVP. Well, he's just got so many fighters
- 52:33to try and promote, too, right? Well, of course.
- 52:37Her Majesty, Skye Nicholson. Oh, fuck. She fights
- 52:42this weekend, too, doesn't she? She does. On
- 52:44the Camboso's card. Her Majesty. Good stuff.
- 52:53Well, fucking go me with the segues. Speaking
- 52:58of Majesty, Canelo, the undercard with William
- 53:02Skull, is announced. We alluded to it when talking
- 53:08about Teofimo, and he was thinking he would have
- 53:11been third in the line. From the bottom up, I
- 53:17was looking at his name. Brian Leone versus Aaron
- 53:20Guerrero. I'm going to be honest. I don't know
- 53:23who these guys are. I was going to say I don't
- 53:25recognize those two. Marco Verde versus Michelle
- 53:29Polina. Don't know who that is either. I do know
- 53:34who Badu Jack is. Badu Jack versus Ryan Brozicki.
- 53:41I cannot believe Badu Jack is still fighting.
- 53:44Yeah. He has a belt too, doesn't he? He has the
- 53:47interim WBC cruiserweight. So that's pretty cool.
- 53:52Moving up, Martin Bakoli versus F .A. Ajagba.
- 53:57Now, this was the fight that was already scheduled.
- 54:02He took the Joseph Parker fight kind of like
- 54:05at a moment's notice. No shit. The money was
- 54:11right for him to drop what he was doing and fly
- 54:13to Saudi Arabia. So this is the fight that was
- 54:18going to happen anyway. Yeah, hopefully Bacoli's
- 54:22been training. Yeah. Well, this fight's in, what,
- 54:26May, so... Still. He was a fat sack of shit when
- 54:32he got knocked out. Man, this to me is the main
- 54:40event. Jaime Munguia versus Bruno Sarras, the
- 54:44rematch. This to me is the one I want to see.
- 54:49I love Munguia, but how fucking great would it
- 54:53be for Sarras to ice him again? I would have
- 54:57to send flowers to Marseille. I don't know why,
- 55:03but here we go. I would be sad. I would be sad.
- 55:06But how fucking great would that be? Like, I
- 55:10did it once. I'll do it again. Yeah. You want
- 55:15to underestimate the French? This is what happens.
- 55:19I don't think it's going to happen. I really
- 55:22hope Munguia comes and knocks him out. Hopefully.
- 55:24But imagine. Yeah. And Canelo versus William
- 55:32Skull. Oh, right. Could not care less about this.
- 55:36I'm calling him Dinero now. Dinero Alvarez versus
- 55:39William Scull. This makes sense, right? Because
- 55:43we know that Canelo Crawford is coming down the
- 55:48line. So this is reclaiming the IBF belt so that
- 55:54he can be undisputed again. Okay. Still doesn't
- 56:00make me care. I know. I know. That's the logic
- 56:04behind it. It's not very good, but that's the
- 56:07logic. Nah, collecting the belts is important,
- 56:11but I just, I don't know. I can't be asked to
- 56:17care about this fight. CBA. That's a good one.
- 56:24What I like is something that Bally said was,
- 56:29this is, we're back in an era. Where having the
- 56:34belts matter. Yeah. Just because so many people.
- 56:38People care. Yeah. So many people are going undisputed.
- 56:42Even with Usyk dropping the IBF because, like,
- 56:48of course, that happens all the time. They're
- 56:50probably the most dropped title of all. But nonetheless.
- 56:55They enforce the mandatories quite strictly.
- 56:59Yeah. Uh, but it, it matters to have, if you
- 57:08have one, one of the major titles, I, I don't
- 57:13know how much of a major title I consider the
- 57:16WBO to be just because that exists in the top
- 57:19rank ecosystem. And that's about it. I think
- 57:24the only guy who's gotten away with having it
- 57:27outside of that is Usyk. And that's about it.
- 57:33yeah i don't i don't follow the belts like that
- 57:36i just follow the boxers i like canelo i guess
- 57:39as well like if you're enough of a cash cow then
- 57:42you don't have to give your belt they let you
- 57:45keep it yeah yeah but regardless we're at a time
- 57:50where having your belts having belts matters
- 57:54like beating the other champions matters even
- 57:58if they're not maybe not the best competition,
- 58:01like Usyk versus Dubois 2. Maybe not the best,
- 58:05but we need to reconsolidate. I think an Usyk
- 58:11-Dubois rematch is the best fight he can have
- 58:13right now, to be honest. I'm partial to Joseph
- 58:17Parker, just because it's a new name. That's
- 58:20really it. I guess, but Dubois... the what beating
- 58:26aj in the way he beat aj yeah that's that was
- 58:30legit better than i am curious and the the um
- 58:36controversy in the first fight i think i think
- 58:40that rematch is the fight to make yeah all right
- 58:43maybe not the best example Although, bringing
- 58:46up Joseph Parker, did you see his call -out video?
- 58:52Yes, I did. I fucking love Joseph Parker. He
- 58:56makes the best videos. Anyone who hasn't seen
- 59:01it needs to go find it. Who sings that song?
- 59:06It's not Shania Twain. It is Shania Twain. Is
- 59:09it Shania Twain? Yeah. Yeah, he called them out
- 59:12to You're Still the One by Shania Twain, which
- 59:16is not a call -out song. No, but... Shot a Backstreet
- 59:21Boys -style music video to it. It's fucking great.
- 59:25Love it. On the beaches of New Zealand. Well
- 59:28done. Got the homies. Yep. Yeah, the Kiwis seem
- 59:34like a... Kiwis and the Maori... Maori? I think
- 59:39it is. Seemed like a really fun bunch. Yeah,
- 59:44yeah. No, if anybody hasn't seen it needs to
- 59:47Google it. It's great. And it's a perfect call
- 59:50-out video for Usyk because yelling at him and
- 59:53being rude isn't going to work. No. Usyk doesn't
- 59:56care. Yeah. But if you make him laugh. Be funny.
- 1:00:00Get attention. Yeah. Speaking of getting attention,
- 1:00:09Shakur Stevenson trying to get attention by saying
- 1:00:13Lomachenko ducked him. I'm not sure. This would
- 1:00:18be a good time to call in RGF, the resident Shakur
- 1:00:23Stevenson expert. Yeah, there's a few guys. Shakur,
- 1:00:33Terrence Crawford. A few others. Yeah. I don't
- 1:00:41know. Did he? I don't know. Does it matter? Do
- 1:00:46we care? I don't know. Not really. I mean, Loma
- 1:00:50was old by the time Shakir started calling him
- 1:00:55out anyways. Loma was old by the time he turned
- 1:00:57pro. Let's be honest. True. Like, unless you
- 1:01:02were calling him out during no Moschenko, nobody
- 1:01:05cares, man. He waited until he wasn't scary anymore.
- 1:01:12Looking at this article, it's talking to Igis
- 1:01:17Klimas. That's Lomachenko's manager. Saying it's
- 1:01:23more worthwhile to fight Gervonta Davis over
- 1:01:27Shakur Stevenson. Wow. That would be more exciting.
- 1:01:32It's the bigger money fight. No kidding. Nobody
- 1:01:38likes watching Shakur Stevenson. I doubt even
- 1:01:42he likes watching Shakur Stevenson. Actually,
- 1:01:47I was in this discussion last night. Somebody
- 1:01:51brought up Rigo again. Rigo versus Casamaro.
- 1:01:56And they said they legitimately enjoyed watching
- 1:02:00that fight live. And I was like, fucking how?
- 1:02:03How could you enjoy that? And they were like,
- 1:02:09well, Ringo just leans into it so much it's funny.
- 1:02:13And I said this on the podcast before, too. What
- 1:02:15pisses me off about Shakur so much is that he's
- 1:02:20not aware of himself at all. And he keeps saying
- 1:02:23he's going to knock people out and he's going
- 1:02:25to beat the fuck out of them and all this stuff.
- 1:02:27No, you're not. You're never going to do that.
- 1:02:32Just be honest about it. Like, I'm going to embarrass
- 1:02:36you. I'm going to school you. I'm going to teach
- 1:02:39you what real boxing is. I'm going to give you
- 1:02:42a 12 -round lesson. So, yeah, strap in, youngster,
- 1:02:46because you're going to school. Yeah, like, you're
- 1:02:49never going to touch me. Yeah, you're never going
- 1:02:52to touch me. I just cut a better promo than Shakur
- 1:02:54ever has. There you go. And ever will. Yeah.
- 1:02:57Because he's so fucking insecure about how boring
- 1:03:00he is. But Rigo, Rigo's like, I don't give a
- 1:03:04fuck. I get paid the same no matter how much
- 1:03:06people like it. I don't get paid more if I get
- 1:03:10punched in the face. Looking at this, going down
- 1:03:18further into the Klimas quotes, everybody thinks
- 1:03:23Loma is done and out of it. Everybody wants to
- 1:03:26fight Loma. I think it's good because if Loma
- 1:03:29comes back, that would be a very good fight to
- 1:03:32make with Tank. What is Shakur? What is a Shakur
- 1:03:37and what is a Tank? Skill and finance. He, Tank,
- 1:03:44is a much better fighter in my way and an up
- 1:03:49-and -coming fighter. I'm not sure what that
- 1:03:52means. In my way. That part I don't get. I think
- 1:03:56that's just him having trouble with English.
- 1:03:59I think he means, like, in my eyes. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:04:03yeah, I see what you mean. Okay. Yeah, he's a
- 1:04:06much better fighter in my view, my eyes. Yeah,
- 1:04:10okay. I'm not going to take anything away from
- 1:04:14Shakur. He's a good fighter, but he's a bumper.
- 1:04:16He goes into a shell and runs away. Tank comes
- 1:04:20to fight. It's a more interesting fight. It's
- 1:04:23a more intriguing fight. yeah yeah uh i agree
- 1:04:28hard to argue no notes i think loma's too old
- 1:04:34anyways i think loma's done if he comes back
- 1:04:37it'll be for tank and that however it ends that'll
- 1:04:42be the end of it because it's a huge money fight
- 1:04:45yeah fair and that's it i just i i think the
- 1:04:51chances of us seeing loma in a in the ring again
- 1:04:54in like an actual fight is pretty low i'd put
- 1:04:57it at like 15 he he's done yeah he's got his
- 1:05:06money he's happy he's got his legacy why come
- 1:05:10back and chance ruining it at this stage though
- 1:05:15uh going off the the boxing laundry theory isn't
- 1:05:24he at a point where all he is is name value and
- 1:05:28that's really it like we know he's beyond like
- 1:05:31he's past it and it's just really having his
- 1:05:34name on your resume and that's really it he's
- 1:05:37like selling his name right now yeah but why
- 1:05:40why do that uh i don't know money that's it that's
- 1:05:44all i could think of is money no one's got enough
- 1:05:47money he doesn't need it but tank money is a
- 1:05:49lot yeah i guess that's my that's my what the
- 1:05:55rationale would be i'm just lazy i have no no
- 1:06:00ambition drive to be like super rich uh yeah
- 1:06:05if i didn't have to work anymore i just wouldn't
- 1:06:08yeah um but that's why i'm not a world famous
- 1:06:12boxer so But if I also if I had like enough money
- 1:06:17to the point where I don't have to work, there
- 1:06:19would be a good portion of that that I would
- 1:06:22be spending on like philanthropies like, oh,
- 1:06:25what's that? Hungry children. Here's like more
- 1:06:28food than you can eat in a fucking month. Enjoy
- 1:06:30that. Yeah. Hungry puppies and kittens. Here's
- 1:06:34more food than you can eat in one sitting. but
- 1:06:37yeah i think i think you're a better person than
- 1:06:40me i would be blowing my money on like bullshit
- 1:06:42constantly oh not crazy bullshit but like i want
- 1:06:47to learn how to be a blacksmith this year and
- 1:06:50just hire somebody to come teach me blacksmithing
- 1:06:52i would do shit like that too but uh i don't
- 1:06:59know maybe yeah maybe it's just different mentalities
- 1:07:02but My money can philanther after I'm dead with
- 1:07:06whatever's left over. Oh, that's all we got.
- 1:07:15Oh, there was one small news thing that I forgot
- 1:07:18about until now. Did you see that Triple G got
- 1:07:23boxing back in the Olympics? I saw that he was
- 1:07:26campaigning for it, and I did see that it...
- 1:07:31it is going to stay in the Olympics. Yeah. Which
- 1:07:35is good. Yeah, very cool. We've had a lot of
- 1:07:39great Olympians coming out. What, MJ? Solid.
- 1:07:45I think Madrimov as well. Yeah, I think a lot
- 1:07:51of those guys from the smaller countries wouldn't
- 1:07:53get a shot without the Olympics. If they didn't
- 1:07:56have the medals, yeah, for sure. For sure. And
- 1:08:00I actually don't even watch Olympic boxing. I
- 1:08:04know Isaac does. But I'm glad it exists. Yeah,
- 1:08:08it's good to have... It's a good gauge of...
- 1:08:13It helps you set expectations. For some people,
- 1:08:18you can set them higher. like Andy Cruz, gold
- 1:08:22medalist. So you can set your expectations a
- 1:08:24little bit higher and expect a little bit more
- 1:08:26out of him. And you're not like, why is he in
- 1:08:29a 10 round fight with this like 17, three and
- 1:08:32one guy? Yeah. Yeah. Well, and I think it gives
- 1:08:38young boxers that like more attainable goal.
- 1:08:43Yeah. Like a solid. I want to be on the Olympic
- 1:08:47team. I want an Olympic gold medal. It's something
- 1:08:50to really work towards before you become a professional
- 1:08:54and need to work towards like the belts. Like
- 1:08:57it's a stepping stone in your career. Stepping
- 1:09:01stones are a milestone. Yeah. The stone I was
- 1:09:03looking for. Man. I think having them is a good,
- 1:09:08a good thing. Although sometimes people stay
- 1:09:11too long trying to get a medal. Stay in the amateurs
- 1:09:14too long. Or even if they have a gold medal,
- 1:09:16they continue fighting in the amateur system.
- 1:09:19Like Rigondow. Like Lomachenko. Yeah, you're
- 1:09:23like 25 years old beating up teenagers. Congratulations.
- 1:09:26You're so talented. But still. I think that's
- 1:09:35good for the sport. Absolutely. Being in the
- 1:09:36Olympics. Because we don't have like a collegiate
- 1:09:39system the same way like NFL or NBA. Or wrestling.
- 1:09:44Yeah, even wrestling has it. So that's it. Holy
- 1:09:52shit. I'm just going to put the plugs, plug shit
- 1:09:57at the end. Be better if you don't fast forward
- 1:10:00through it. Maybe just give it a listen. Parting
- 1:10:06words. What do you got? What do I got? Oh, fuck.
- 1:10:11I actually did my homework this time and I left
- 1:10:15the book at work. I was doing podcast stuff at
- 1:10:17work because I didn't want to do work. No, I
- 1:10:26lost it. I have no idea what I was going to say.
- 1:10:30I'm going to be out of town starting on... We're
- 1:10:34recording this on Friday. It's currently about
- 1:10:376 .15 in the evening. And I'm going to be leaving
- 1:10:42on Sunday. I'm going to be out through most of
- 1:10:45the week. So Ultimate FN Casual is going to be
- 1:10:49delayed. Hopefully Alex is feeling better. Maybe
- 1:10:55we could get some boxing in the way into the
- 1:10:58feed. Either way, I'm going to be out, but we'll
- 1:11:03be back. I'll be back, and I'm coming at your
- 1:11:07fucking eardrums. I'm coming for them. Are you
- 1:11:11at least doing something fun? I'm going to...
- 1:11:15I don't know how fun this is. It's fun for me.
- 1:11:19I'm going to D .C., and I'm going to be lobbying
- 1:11:23for military veterans who have been deported
- 1:11:28from the U .S. because they weren't citizens.
- 1:11:32That sounds important, but maybe not fun. Not
- 1:11:35quite as, uh, not fun for anyone hearing me like
- 1:11:39describe it, but it's important stuff. Yeah.
- 1:11:44Yeah. Very important. Like how the fuck, how,
- 1:11:48how are you going to be like, uh, one guy he's
- 1:11:51currently in detention. He, he went to Iraq like
- 1:11:54two or three times and. Now he's being processed
- 1:11:58for deportation. What the fuck is happening?
- 1:12:02That doesn't make sense. Yeah, I do not get America's
- 1:12:08treatment of their veterans. I've seen a couple
- 1:12:11Instagram reels and stuff where Doge has made
- 1:12:15so many cuts and it's just veterans crashing
- 1:12:19out because they can't get their therapy and
- 1:12:23stuff. Yeah. And they don't know how to get their...
- 1:12:26their medications renewed and all this sort of
- 1:12:30stuff. It makes me really sad. That's me. I don't
- 1:12:33know how I'm going to get my medication. Yeah,
- 1:12:36that's fucking ridiculous. Especially for a country
- 1:12:39that pretends that they care so much about their
- 1:12:42military. Yeah. Well, without my medications,
- 1:12:45who knows? Maybe I'll spontaneously combust.
- 1:12:49I expect that's going to be the result. I hope
- 1:12:50not. I would be sad. Oh. Instead of parting words,
- 1:12:55I have one more idiocy from the Canadian boycott.
- 1:13:00This isn't so much a boycott. More vandalism.
- 1:13:03No, no. This is actually my home province being
- 1:13:06stupid as fuck. So my home province went conservative.
- 1:13:10It has for a while now. And they have decided
- 1:13:15that they're not going to allow... the liquor
- 1:13:20stores in my home province of Saskatchewan to
- 1:13:23sell Coors Light and Budweiser products. But
- 1:13:27Coors Light is I think a Molson product now?
- 1:13:32It's made in Canada. There's Canadian breweries.
- 1:13:35And Budweiser also has Canadian breweries. So
- 1:13:40they're fucking over people who work in those
- 1:13:42breweries. Like, what the fuck are you doing?
- 1:13:46I know we don't like American products and American
- 1:13:50companies right now, but, like, that shit's just
- 1:13:54made in Canada. I'm pretty sure Coors Light has
- 1:13:57a brewery in Saskatchewan. I think Coors is Molson.
- 1:14:01That does sound accurate. Yeah, and, like, they're
- 1:14:06not pulling Molson because Molson makes Canadian
- 1:14:08the beer. Like, this is the worst. what's the
- 1:14:14catchphrase thing virtue signaling i've ever
- 1:14:17fucking seen this is like god damn scotty moe
- 1:14:21get your head out of your ass it's so fucking
- 1:14:24stupid this one is stupid the turning shit over
- 1:14:28is just kind of funny but this is stupid and
- 1:14:31it's stupid people that are gonna fall for it
- 1:14:35but i really think it's gonna backfire on him
- 1:14:37because like my dad and his buddies they drink
- 1:14:40budweiser and I know a ton of people that drink
- 1:14:45Budweiser and Coors Light, and you don't take
- 1:14:49people's beer away. Like, the farmers have not
- 1:14:53gotten on board with this craft beer stuff. I
- 1:14:57drink 8 ,000 of the same thing every year. Yeah,
- 1:15:01those are exactly the types. What you would imagine
- 1:15:06a... more traditional traditionally conservative
- 1:15:10like i like my beer i like this this is the one
- 1:15:14i like this is the one i drink anything else
- 1:15:17i don't like it yeah exactly yeah So I see this
- 1:15:23one backfiring. I am waiting for him to reverse
- 1:15:26it very quickly, and I'm waiting for a bunch
- 1:15:29of farmers to get mad and dump pig shit on his
- 1:15:31lawn, because that's one of our favorite protest
- 1:15:34things. Wow, pig shit. Just bring a trailer of
- 1:15:37pig shit and dump it on your lawn. Let's just
- 1:15:39hope that one of those pig farmers isn't Robert
- 1:15:42Pickton. I actually went to school with his cousin's
- 1:15:47kid. Oh, shit. Yeah. Pickton. Yeah, they were
- 1:15:55not close. He was a weirdo. The family didn't
- 1:15:58talk to him. Yeah, that's what I learned about
- 1:16:01him through my true crime studies. He is not
- 1:16:05one of those ones where people said, like, oh,
- 1:16:07we never saw it coming. No, it was like, of course
- 1:16:11he did. Of course he did. You guys hadn't investigated
- 1:16:14him 10 years ago? Yeah, actually, that comes
- 1:16:18up in the series that I had listened to about
- 1:16:21him. Yeah. But that's enough. If you don't know
- 1:16:24who Robert Pickton is, you can call the number
- 1:16:27833 -589 -7637. You can text and I'll tell you
- 1:16:31exactly who Robert Pickton is. You're not going
- 1:16:34to like it. It's going to be very distressing
- 1:16:37and it's going to be uncomfortable to read. But
- 1:16:39I'll tell you exactly who he is. Otherwise, if
- 1:16:42you got anything to say about the Inouye debut
- 1:16:46or re -debut in the U .S., Adrian Broner and
- 1:16:49his dice, AJ getting injured. The TKO pay structure,
- 1:16:54if that's not distressing, I don't know what
- 1:16:57would be. Yeah, well, go figure out how it's
- 1:17:05illegal right now because I don't really understand.
- 1:17:10You go figure it out and explain it to me in
- 1:17:13a call. Yeah. Well, there you have it. We'll
- 1:17:17catch you next time. We're going boxing before
- 1:17:21dark because it's still light out for me and
- 1:17:24it's light out for you. 10 a .m., baby. All right.
- 1:17:27We'll see you next time. Bye. We interrupt our
- 1:17:33program to bring you this important message.
- 1:17:36Hi, man. Fucking what an interim. What a solemn
- 1:17:45update. God damn. This one kind of surprised
- 1:17:51me. Like, I hadn't heard he was sick or anything.
- 1:17:54Same. Pretty healthy. So, for the uninitiated,
- 1:18:00which, if you're listening to this, chances are
- 1:18:03you probably already know. But, nonetheless,
- 1:18:06just today, just a few, like, I found out a few
- 1:18:11moments ago that George Foreman, the George Foreman,
- 1:18:15passed away at his home in Houston. Houston,
- 1:18:19Texas. Oh, man. Olympic gold medalist. Holy shit.
- 1:18:25I didn't know that part. I knew he was an Olympian,
- 1:18:28but I didn't know he won the gold. Of course
- 1:18:30he did. Of course he did. Yeah. Man, this one
- 1:18:35kind of hurts me. It does. I'm feeling it. I'm
- 1:18:41getting all misty up here. Like, man. Thank George.
- 1:18:48Man, such a good life story. What a redemption
- 1:18:52arc in the second half. Like, going from being
- 1:18:57the bad guy, the, like, not gangster, but just,
- 1:19:05like, mean, angry person that beat people up
- 1:19:11and enjoyed it to... Born again. I got to go
- 1:19:15back to fighting so I can pay for all these kids
- 1:19:18to have a recreation second chance. Big George,
- 1:19:24man. That makes me sad. Maybe next week we need
- 1:19:33to come back and do a bit of a memorial one.
- 1:19:36Absolutely. Yeah, this is just a little addendum
- 1:19:41to Mention that we're aware that this happened.
- 1:19:48Man, I'm at a loss for words. I remember playing
- 1:19:52his game on Sega Genesis when I was a kid. I
- 1:19:56used to play the George Foreman game when I was
- 1:20:00stationed, my first duty station. It was in Japan.
- 1:20:05And one of the guys had been there for a while.
- 1:20:07He had a George Foreman grill. To me, I had seen...
- 1:20:12Go on. I got so many George Foreman grills as
- 1:20:17graduation presents. I think I got three or four
- 1:20:20of them. That's what everybody gave everybody
- 1:20:24when I was graduating high school. Yeah, that
- 1:20:28was the thing to have in the barracks that we
- 1:20:33were at just because a lot of cooking devices
- 1:20:37weren't allowed. but George Foreman girls were.
- 1:20:41And, yeah, man, I'm broken up here. Like, George
- 1:20:48Foreman was, he was, him, he was like the, even
- 1:20:54though he was older, nonetheless, it was him
- 1:20:56and Mike Tyson. That, to me, was heavyweight
- 1:21:00boxing. Yeah. Well, and George Foreman was just
- 1:21:05so good in interviews and such a funny guy. yeah
- 1:21:09like when he was making his comeback there's
- 1:21:13an interview and i've watched this particular
- 1:21:15interview quite a few times because it's hilarious
- 1:21:17and i forget which late night show it was but
- 1:21:21they asked him who hit the hardest and i think
- 1:21:24he says joe frazier and the guy's like not ernie
- 1:21:28shavers because that's who everybody says and
- 1:21:32big george was like Oh, I never fought Ernie
- 1:21:34Shavers, and I thank the Lord I didn't. Yeah,
- 1:21:41I wouldn't want to either. Man, Big George is
- 1:21:46gone. That makes me so sad. It is. And him on
- 1:21:49HBO as the color commentator. Yeah. So good.
- 1:21:54What was the guy that was on with Lampley and
- 1:21:57him? Oh. I know who you're talking about, and
- 1:22:02I can't think of the other guy's name either.
- 1:22:03The guy that sets up Floyd Mayweather, he said,
- 1:22:04if I was 50 years younger, I'd kick your ass.
- 1:22:07I'm going to look this up. Yeah, I'm trying.
- 1:22:11I don't even know what the, I guess just HBO
- 1:22:16Boxing. Yeah. Was it? It wasn't Letterman. No,
- 1:22:20it wasn't Letterman. No, he did the scorecards.
- 1:22:24Yeah. Larry Merchant. There you go. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:22:30He's just another central figure of the glory
- 1:22:33days. Seeing the old legends. Big George was
- 1:22:38the last one kind of from that era, wasn't he?
- 1:22:42I think so. Like, Emanuel Stewart passed on.
- 1:22:46I think him, Jim Lampley is all that's really
- 1:22:49left. Well, I was thinking, like, boxers. Oh,
- 1:22:53right. Yeah. I think you're right. Heavyweight
- 1:22:57boxing from, what was that, the 70s? 70s, yes.
- 1:23:0180s? I think George was the last one. Man, yeah.
- 1:23:07Well, we definitely have to give him his due
- 1:23:11time. Yeah, I'm going to go do some actual research,
- 1:23:16get some actual quotes instead of me trying to
- 1:23:19remember them. Yeah. yeah just an addendum a
- 1:23:23quick addendum to add on to the end but fucking
- 1:23:27hope is hope uh i don't know best wishes to his
- 1:23:32family i hope they're all doing i mean as good
- 1:23:35as they can be all things considered yeah man
- 1:23:40this probably for his family it didn't but for
- 1:23:45me this came out of nowhere that was same I was
- 1:23:49surprised Alex brought it up in the middle of
- 1:23:52just... I was talking to Isaac about something
- 1:23:55just completely unrelated, and Alex came in and
- 1:23:59mentioned it. I was like, God damn, are you messing
- 1:24:02with me? Don't mess with me with this. This isn't
- 1:24:06funny. Yeah. Fuck. Anyway. Yeah. I guess there's
- 1:24:12not much else to say other than... Not for the
- 1:24:15moment. Rest in peace. Yeah. Best wishes to the
- 1:24:18Foreman family. Yeah, we'll give Big George his
- 1:24:23time next time we get together. Yeah. Welcome
- 1:24:36to the fucking show. All right, just a quick
- 1:24:38blurb just so you can get back to what you were
- 1:24:40doing. Why would a boxing... Let's assume they're
- 1:24:48like a purist or some shit. Why would they want
- 1:24:51to watch MMA? Why would they want to listen to
- 1:24:54an MMA show? I'm going to come at this from sort
- 1:24:57of like a primal level. So I will admit there
- 1:25:01are like some very like unique and like stark
- 1:25:05differences between MMA and boxing. And it seems
- 1:25:08like one of the main things that keeps boxing
- 1:25:11fans away from MMA is the grappling aspect. and
- 1:25:15yes sometimes it can be you know a lay and pray
- 1:25:18uh type of fight and it can get old but man like
- 1:25:24it's just instinctual man some of these people
- 1:25:27the way they find an mma is just brutal and i
- 1:25:31feel like that's what it comes down to when it
- 1:25:32comes to being a combat fan a combat sports fan
- 1:25:34um i mean we started just recently uh mauricio
- 1:25:40uh rufy versus Bobby Green spinning back or spinning
- 1:25:45a wheel kick. Man, it's I mean, they went viral
- 1:25:50and it's something that everyone can appreciate,
- 1:25:52even boxing fans. I know if you have a few friends
- 1:25:56that are boxing fans who I sent him that clip.
- 1:26:00I mean, and they they were amazed and that, you
- 1:26:03know, they won't even tell me that they wish
- 1:26:05they would have seen it live because seeing seeing
- 1:26:08that that type of stuff live just elicits like.
- 1:26:12a euphoric feeling that you know you can't get
- 1:26:15i mean it happens in boxing too whenever you
- 1:26:16see like an amazing fight but i i just gotta
- 1:26:19say like in mma you you get those type of fights
- 1:26:24as well just in a different type it's different
- 1:26:27but sort of the same it's it's sort of it's sort
- 1:26:30of weird how i describe it but it's different
- 1:26:32but the same it comes down to that same like
- 1:26:34carnal or primal instinct of just like fights
- 1:26:38yeah i i always think like the biggest the easiest
- 1:26:43transition that i always recommend i say this
- 1:26:46all the time on ultimate casuals is if you're
- 1:26:51if you're not too keen on the grappling muay
- 1:26:54thai and kickboxing are exactly where you want
- 1:26:58to start like you start working on the kicks
- 1:27:00the elbows the knees that's all that stuff And
- 1:27:04you can come to learn to appreciate grappling.
- 1:27:08I never thought I would. And here I am. Yeah.
- 1:27:12Like I said, some of it is very boring. Some
- 1:27:14of the grappling. It depends on the fighters.
- 1:27:16But sometimes, man. There's boring boxing fights
- 1:27:19all the time. Yeah. Yeah, no. Yeah, you're true.
- 1:27:22I mean, you're right. But man, some of these
- 1:27:24grapplers, man. These scrambles that they do.
- 1:27:27It is like pretty crazy just to see it. Like,
- 1:27:31you know, rolling around the floor. I mean, you
- 1:27:32can see. The stuff that they're doing in between.
- 1:27:34And the scrambles. I mean it's sort of crazy.
- 1:27:36Flipping someone over. The trips. I mean it's.
- 1:27:39It can be fun. But yeah you're right. The easiest
- 1:27:41transition is definitely. Start out with Muay
- 1:27:43Thai. Kickboxing. And you know slowly. Work your
- 1:27:46way into MMA. And you know. This is the thing
- 1:27:49about. The ultimate fucking casuals. We will
- 1:27:53let you know which fights are going to be good.
- 1:27:56Which ones you know. If you're not too in tune
- 1:27:58with the grappling. We can get maybe. A little
- 1:28:02tag or a little asterisk on certain fights saying,
- 1:28:06like, this is a boxing purist type of fight.
- 1:28:09Yeah. You can watch this and enjoy this. Like,
- 1:28:12we'll let you know. Yeah, we always try. Like,
- 1:28:16I came into this. The whole show was started
- 1:28:18with me. I didn't know shit about MMA. I'd never
- 1:28:21really seen an MMA fight in its entirety in my
- 1:28:24entire life. And I came into this with nothing.
- 1:28:27And yeah, that's where we're at now is like we're
- 1:28:30talking like I make sure I go out of my way to
- 1:28:33bring up Muay Thai and bring up kickboxing so
- 1:28:36that people know like this for boxing fans to
- 1:28:40know. This is what this is where you can start.
- 1:28:44All right. Well, yeah, that was about it. I really
- 1:28:48appreciate your time. Thanks, Isaac, for jumping
- 1:28:51on real quick. Thanks for having me on. All right.
