- 0:00Speaker 1: And all that. That's called freedom of speech, and that's
- 0:01Speaker 1: what this hearing title is protecting speech. So all I
- 0:07Speaker 1: can see is, look, we should all join hands and
- 0:11Speaker 1: denouncing and whatever words you want to use about violent
- 0:18Speaker 1: extremism of all stripes, and I think we can all
- 0:21Speaker 1: agree on that. So's to constantly accuse Democrats of not
- 0:26Speaker 1: caring about that is really I can only say that
- 0:30Speaker 1: you aren't listening. So I hope this is the end
- 0:33Speaker 1: of this hearing, mister chairman, and that we don't have
- 0:35Speaker 1: to listen to any more of your rhetorical speeches. Thank
- 0:38Speaker 1: you very much. I'm leaving well. I appreciate the as
- 0:42Speaker 1: always kind and uplifting words of Senator Herono, and I
- 0:45Speaker 1: would also note that throughout her remark she still did
- 0:48Speaker 1: not say a negative word about Antifa, nor has any
- 0:51Speaker 1: Democrat here. They instead engage in a political game where
- 0:56Speaker 1: they depend. You're welcome to say something negative about Antifa
- 1:00Speaker 1: right now. I think that I've covered the subject quite okay.
- 1:07Speaker 1: She declined to speak, so that is the position of
- 1:10Speaker 1: the Democratic Party. I would note also that of the
- 1:12Speaker 1: seven Democratic senators who spoke, not a one of them
- 1:16Speaker 1: apologized for or denounced multiple Democrats calling law enforcement officers Nazis, stormtroopers,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and Gestapo. To be fair, I don't have not heard
- 1:25Speaker 1: the word Nazi, but stormtrooper was Nancy Pelosi and Gastapo
- 1:28Speaker 1: was another Democratic leader. Welcome back to Verdict with Ted Cruz.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm Michael Knowles. I'm sitting here, of course with the senator. Senator,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you have not yet chased me out of this room,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but I notice you seem to have chased your Democratic
- 1:48Speaker 1: colleague out of the Senate yesterday. Well, Michael, I don't
- 1:51Speaker 1: like what you're saying, so I'm going to need to
- 1:52Speaker 1: get up and run away and leave. Now. You're very
- 1:55Speaker 1: frightening and you're you're causing me to hyperventily. Yeah, well,
- 2:00Speaker 1: because I'm posing these very difficult questions to you, such
- 2:03Speaker 1: as are you willing to condemn Antifa? So so it
- 2:07Speaker 1: was really crazy. So I chaired a hearing on Antifa violence.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And it's I, as you know, chair the Constitution Subcommittee,
- 2:14Speaker 1: a Senate Judiciary committee, and so the the hearing was
- 2:19Speaker 1: focused on the right and the First Amendment peaceably to assemble.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And by the way, if you remember back, do you
- 2:27Speaker 1: remember Chris Cuomo on CNN saying saying, where is it
- 2:32Speaker 1: written that that that protesting and gathering has to be peaceable?
- 2:38Speaker 1: And it's kind of like, well, okay, there's this thing
- 2:40Speaker 1: called the First Amendment. It's in the Constitution, the right
- 2:43Speaker 1: of the people peaceably to assemble. It's right there, first Amber,
- 2:47Speaker 1: part of the Bill of Rights attached the Well you
- 2:49Speaker 1: get understand, CNN, they don't have copies of the Constitution,
- 2:52Speaker 1: so so you can understand. You wouldn't expect the CUOMO
- 2:57Speaker 1: to be familiar with I don't know that it's even
- 2:58Speaker 1: allowed in the building. Frankly, I think that's probably right. Well,
- 3:02Speaker 1: the hearing was on free speech and the right peaceably
- 3:06Speaker 1: to assemble, and how radical anarchists and Marxists are taking
- 3:12Speaker 1: over these protests and engaging in rioting and violence, and
- 3:18Speaker 1: so we had testimony and in the entire course of it,
- 3:20Speaker 1: so we had testimony originally from the Department of Justice
- 3:23Speaker 1: and Department Homeland Security. Ken Kucinelli, the acting Deputy Secretary,
- 3:27Speaker 1: test if I did a five fabulous job. But seven
- 3:30Speaker 1: different Democratic senators participated in the hearing. Not a single
- 3:35Speaker 1: one of them was willing to say even a single
- 3:38Speaker 1: word critical about Antifa. They wouldn't and it's you know,
- 3:42Speaker 1: I gotta say, look, I'll give the DEM's credit. They
- 3:45Speaker 1: have a message discipline. Like when a talking point goes out,
- 3:49Speaker 1: I don't know who it is. Is that what it is? Though?
- 3:52Speaker 1: I mean they basically they get the talking points that
- 3:54Speaker 1: they stick to it. They repeat the same words over
- 3:57Speaker 1: and over again. So for example, all of them called
- 4:01Speaker 1: the DHS law enforcement officers secret police. That was clearly
- 4:04Speaker 1: the talking point. So so Mazy Heronos, the ranking Democrat
- 4:08Speaker 1: on the committee, she plays this this video I think
- 4:10Speaker 1: from the New York Times where it refers to them
- 4:14Speaker 1: as unidentified officers, and literally the video playing they have
- 4:18Speaker 1: in giant right yellow all caps letters the words police
- 4:22Speaker 1: like that. That's not they are identified. Let's not a
- 4:27Speaker 1: question about that. But it's but it doesn't stop them.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So they're talking points, and so they're talking points on Antifa,
- 4:34Speaker 1: on the terrorists. Is they just scream right wing violence,
- 4:39Speaker 1: white supremacist, white supremacists, and the difference by the way, um, look,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm white supremacists, Nazis KKK. Those guys are racist idiots.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Lock them all up, they commit violence, Lock them up
- 4:50Speaker 1: and throw them in jai. This is the point. This
- 4:51Speaker 1: was what was so shocking to me when I was
- 4:53Speaker 1: watching this clip of you talking to Senator Horono. When
- 4:56Speaker 1: some fringe lunatic guy who maybe he associates with the right,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and he comes out and says something bigoted, all the
- 5:02Speaker 1: right disavows, condemns, takes two seconds, nobody worries about it.
- 5:06Speaker 1: But none of your Democratic colleagues on zero, not one
- 5:10Speaker 1: could condemn Antifa, or the Marxists or the other end.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I mean, it seems so simple to me. Why couldn't
- 5:16Speaker 1: they do it? So not only that, but but but
- 5:18Speaker 1: also we've seen their rhetorics. So Nancy Pelosi called federal
- 5:22Speaker 1: police officers stormtroopers, aunt Jim Kleiber and one of the
- 5:26Speaker 1: ranking leading Democrats of the House called them gestapo like
- 5:31Speaker 1: calling cops Nazis yea, And not a single Democrat, I
- 5:35Speaker 1: mean repeatedly that was called out. Not one of the
- 5:38Speaker 1: Democratic senators would walk away from it. And so at
- 5:40Speaker 1: the end of the hearing, Mazie got up and stormed out,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and she's like, well, no, no, I've condemned violence. I'm like, well, no,
- 5:50Speaker 1: not from Antifa, not from the left. You insist the
- 5:53Speaker 1: only violence that occurs is on the right. Facts be damned.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Do you know what Ken Kucinelli told us at the hearing.
- 5:58Speaker 1: What he said, there have been in the last six
- 6:02Speaker 1: months two hundred and seventy seven officer injuries in Portland.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Wow seven. So Ken Cucinelli Deputy Secretary of Department of
- 6:12Speaker 1: Homeland Security, and he testified it, and he testified fact
- 6:15Speaker 1: he had. So they're throwing rocks at the officers, they're
- 6:20Speaker 1: throwing frozen water bottles. In fact, Ken had a frozen
- 6:22Speaker 1: water bottle with him just to illustrate. They hit an
- 6:27Speaker 1: officer in the head with a sledgehammer. They're bringing knives,
- 6:30Speaker 1: they're bringing guns, They're throwing gasoline and lighting gasoline on fire.
- 6:34Speaker 1: They're firing mortars with with commercial fireworks. They have those lasers. Well,
- 6:40Speaker 1: and you and I, so we did we did an
- 6:44Speaker 1: interview with the Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, and
- 6:47Speaker 1: we did it at DHS, which was pretty cool. But
- 6:50Speaker 1: while we're doing the interview, you and I are sitting
- 6:53Speaker 1: there into the room walks Ken Cucinelli. You know, in
- 6:58Speaker 1: the moment I couldn't quite tell. Obviously the lighting was
- 7:00Speaker 1: a little dark. So, like I said, who is this
- 7:02Speaker 1: guy who's kind of walking in if i'd known. If
- 7:04Speaker 1: i'd know it was him, I would have said he
- 7:05Speaker 1: should come right on the show. And if i'd have
- 7:07Speaker 1: seen him, he came in behind me, so I didn't
- 7:09Speaker 1: see him. If I had seen him, I said, Cooch,
- 7:10Speaker 1: come on over, pull up a chair because he was
- 7:12Speaker 1: coming to testify that afternoon, and he had a prop
- 7:15Speaker 1: he had, so the commercial laser that they're using. Yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I have to admit when I read about the sort
- 7:22Speaker 1: of lasers to the eyes that that struck me as
- 7:24Speaker 1: a little bogus because we've always had little laser pointers, right,
- 7:27Speaker 1: you chase your cat around with it? Yeah, Like I mean,
- 7:29Speaker 1: isn't that? Isn't that All of Twitter is cat videos, like, like,
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think that's the entirety of the Internet. Yeah, but
- 7:36Speaker 1: what was interesting is these commercial ones. So so Cooch
- 7:41Speaker 1: had one of those. He said, here, hold your hand out,
- 7:42Speaker 1: so I did, and he points it and in like
- 7:45Speaker 1: one second. It takes about a second and then you go,
- 7:47Speaker 1: oh crap, and you yank. I mean it burned. Well,
- 7:50Speaker 1: you know, I don't. I don't think that you were
- 7:52Speaker 1: necessarily foolish when he says put your in it, you
- 7:54Speaker 1: did it, But then I saw it burned. You and
- 7:56Speaker 1: then you tell me, hey, Michael, put your hand out,
- 7:58Speaker 1: and I like a fool, I put my hand out
- 8:01Speaker 1: and I get it burned by Look, this is basic
- 8:05Speaker 1: human instinct. You know. You have like spoiled milk and
- 8:08Speaker 1: you go, oh, stays terrible like, but it's serious. I mean,
- 8:13Speaker 1: you can you can light a piece of paper on
- 8:14Speaker 1: fire with those lasers. And this is this is the
- 8:16Speaker 1: kind of thing that's being shined in the CoP's eyes.
- 8:18Speaker 1: And and Cucinelli testified over thirty officers have had eye
- 8:23Speaker 1: damage where they shine it in their eyes and it's
- 8:25Speaker 1: a risk of permanent blindness. And in fact, what they're
- 8:28Speaker 1: doing is they have these shields and they get up
- 8:30Speaker 1: right close at them to shine the laser right in
- 8:33Speaker 1: their eye, um, and try to blind them. Yeah, and
- 8:37Speaker 1: you know one thing, you did very well at the hearing.
- 8:39Speaker 1: And for some reason, I notice these clips aren't going around.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I don't know why the press isn't covering it. You
- 8:44Speaker 1: went through with great specificity who these people are, the
- 8:48Speaker 1: organized anarchists, the organized Marxists who are behind these riots
- 8:52Speaker 1: all over the country. You know, I think the Democrats
- 8:55Speaker 1: they've outright denied that Antifa even exists. It's Jerry Nadler
- 8:58Speaker 1: the other day pretended it's not real. You went through
- 9:01Speaker 1: those specifically, these are real Marxists, these are real anarchists. Well,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and you take two different groups that are worth worth
- 9:07Speaker 1: focusing on one Antifa, and you've got we heard a
- 9:09Speaker 1: lot of testimony. Antifa is profoundly violent. They engage in terrorism,
- 9:14Speaker 1: they encourage terrorism, they train people to engage in this violence.
- 9:18Speaker 1: They're also profoundly anti free speech. They and they use
- 9:23Speaker 1: violence as a way to silent speech they disagree with you,
- 9:28Speaker 1: and these are concerted. You know, Andy No the journalist,
- 9:32Speaker 1: he testified at the hearing about being violently beaten up
- 9:37Speaker 1: by the way they call him a white supremacist, as
- 9:40Speaker 1: he described he's he's the son of a Vietnamese immigrant.
- 9:45Speaker 1: He's Vietnamese and gay is not. You're like, he is
- 9:48Speaker 1: the most Vietnamese white supremacist I've ever met, There's no question.
- 9:52Speaker 1: But you know what they call Ben Shapiro and Nazi,
- 9:54Speaker 1: So so never let facts get in the way right
- 9:58Speaker 1: of their attacking rhetoric. Yeah, but you know, so you
- 10:01Speaker 1: had the anarchists of Antifa, and you had Marxists as well,
- 10:04Speaker 1: as you explained yesterday, well, and I talked at some
- 10:08Speaker 1: length about black lives matter. Now, now it's important to
- 10:11Speaker 1: understand the difference. The phrase black lives matter. Oh yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: of course is indisputably true this period the end. And
- 10:19Speaker 1: let me actually take a digression for a minute. I
- 10:22Speaker 1: think most Republicans are morons when it comes to talking
- 10:25Speaker 1: about black lives matter. Uh, because when you have someone
- 10:29Speaker 1: say does black lives matter? You get all these Republicans No,
- 10:31Speaker 1: all lives matter? Yeah, why can't you just say yes? Right?
- 10:34Speaker 1: If you ask me, yes, it's black lives matter. Well,
- 10:36Speaker 1: it's like Mazie Herono's answer, right, Well, you condemn Antifa,
- 10:39Speaker 1: I condemn extremism, Say right, but what about specifically Antifa's
- 10:42Speaker 1: you know, for a simple question like absolutely, black lives
- 10:45Speaker 1: are precious and they matter immensely, and the reason is
- 10:49Speaker 1: every life is created by God. But you don't you
- 10:53Speaker 1: see Republicans like terrified to say that, Yeah, because we're
- 10:58Speaker 1: in such a weird politicized world. Well, and also because
- 11:00Speaker 1: there's this organization which is very different. Well, and and
- 11:04Speaker 1: that's so the statement black lives matter is a truism.
- 11:07Speaker 1: Overwhelming the majority of Americans agree with it. It It should
- 11:09Speaker 1: be everyone I mean, yeah, basically everyone, I think. But
- 11:13Speaker 1: there's something very separate from the organization that is called
- 11:16Speaker 1: Black Lives Matter and this um. There's an article I
- 11:21Speaker 1: entered into the record of the hearing from the Washington
- 11:23Speaker 1: Examiner that gives some of the history of the organization.
- 11:26Speaker 1: So it was founded by three radicals who describe themselves
- 11:33Speaker 1: in their own words as trained Marxists. So they are
- 11:37Speaker 1: this is not me calling the Marxist. They tell you
- 11:39Speaker 1: they're Marxists. They tell you they've studied Marx and Lenin
- 11:42Speaker 1: and Mao. They I mean, there's a video of Patris Klus,
- 11:46Speaker 1: Who's who's one of the co founders. She says, Alicia
- 11:49Speaker 1: and I are Alicia Garris, another co founder, are trained Marxists.
- 11:52Speaker 1: And the third co founder, oh, Paul Timetti, is seen
- 11:55Speaker 1: smiling and photographs with the communist dictator of Venezuela. They're
- 11:58Speaker 1: they're not hiding this sort of thing. So not only that,
- 12:02Speaker 1: one of the founders of the organization Black Lives Matter
- 12:05Speaker 1: describes as her mentor Angela Davis. Now Angela Davis, I
- 12:11Speaker 1: don't have to call her communist. She tells you she
- 12:14Speaker 1: was a communist. She was not once, but twice the
- 12:17Speaker 1: vice presidential nominee of the Communist Party of the United States.
- 12:21Speaker 1: So she's an avowed communist Marxist and by the way,
- 12:26Speaker 1: you know is rapidly anti Semitic, rapidly anti history. Someone
- 12:34Speaker 1: else who Susan Rosenberg? Now, who is Susan Rosenberg? Susan
- 12:38Speaker 1: Rosenberg is the vice chair of the board of directors
- 12:42Speaker 1: of Thousand Currents. Now, what is thousand Currents? Thousand Currents
- 12:45Speaker 1: is what is funding the organization Black Lives Matter? Now?
- 12:48Speaker 1: Who is Susan Rosenberg? Also, she was part of the
- 12:53Speaker 1: revolutionary military group known as the May nineteenth communist organization
- 12:58Speaker 1: affiliated with the Weather Underground. She was convicted of weapons
- 13:02Speaker 1: and explosive charges and sentenced to fifty eight years in prison.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So she's a convicted terrorist. By the way, she was
- 13:10Speaker 1: pardoned by Bill Clinton on the last day of his presidency.
- 13:14Speaker 1: It was one of those midnight and a million other
- 13:17Speaker 1: people were parking at the end of the administration. So
- 13:20Speaker 1: she was at Rosenberg in the nineteen sixties and seventies
- 13:23Speaker 1: was on the FBI's most wanted list. She was caught
- 13:26Speaker 1: in nineteen eighty four unloading hundreds of pounds of dynamite
- 13:30Speaker 1: and weapons including a submachine gun. So we're not talking
- 13:33Speaker 1: like a sort of mild little rebel. We're not just
- 13:37Speaker 1: a frozen water bottle. It is not so Garza, one
- 13:43Speaker 1: of the Black Lives Matter founders, talks about how convicted
- 13:47Speaker 1: cop killer Assanta Shakur is one of her main inspirations.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Now Skur is right now today on the FBI's most
- 13:57Speaker 1: wanted list. There's a million dollar reward for Shakur's information
- 14:01Speaker 1: leading to her capture. She's believed to be hiding in Cuba,
- 14:06Speaker 1: and she was a member of the Black Liberation Army,
- 14:09Speaker 1: another terrorist organization. She's wanted for escaping from prison, and
- 14:14Speaker 1: she was in prison serving a life sentence for murdering
- 14:18Speaker 1: a police officer. And the police officer and individual named
- 14:21Speaker 1: Werner Forster, was shot execution style, point black. This wasn't
- 14:26Speaker 1: an accidental this was and and by the way, it's
- 14:31Speaker 1: not like these folks are just kind of okay, we're
- 14:34Speaker 1: all like vaguely know each other. So Colors, one of
- 14:39Speaker 1: the three founders, wrote a memoir entitled When They Call
- 14:43Speaker 1: You a Terrorist, a Black Lives Matter Memoir. So it's
- 14:46Speaker 1: like what we're all about. The foreword is written by
- 14:50Speaker 1: Angela Davis and the epigraph is written by Shakur the
- 14:55Speaker 1: cop killer. Wow. So there they don't tell you this
- 14:58Speaker 1: in the mainstream media. In fact, I had never heard that,
- 15:01Speaker 1: and I've actually done some research into the BLM organization.
- 15:03Speaker 1: So Angela Davis, you wan't to talk about the anti
- 15:05Speaker 1: semitism of Angela Davis for a minute. She was asked,
- 15:09Speaker 1: so she was big apologist for the Soviet Union. Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: I look communist, That's what they did. So she was
- 15:16Speaker 1: traveling to Moscow and she was asked if she would
- 15:18Speaker 1: speak up for the Jewish prisoners of conscience in the
- 15:21Speaker 1: gulags in the Soviet Union, and her answer was, and
- 15:27Speaker 1: this is a quote, that they are all Zionist, fascists
- 15:32Speaker 1: and opponents of socialism, and so therefore she would be
- 15:36Speaker 1: urged that she would urge that they'd be kept in prison.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Not only would she not speak up with them, she'd
- 15:42Speaker 1: be like, lock them up. By the way, Angela Davis
- 15:44Speaker 1: just recently endorsed Joe Biden for president. That's right, and
- 15:46Speaker 1: she said he would be easy to manipulate it. Black
- 15:51Speaker 1: Lives Matter Itself refers to Israel as an apartheid state,
- 15:54Speaker 1: committing genocide. That's that's their terms. But what is Black
- 16:00Speaker 1: Lives Matters stand for? If you go look at their
- 16:02Speaker 1: website yea, their number one priority is abolishing the police nationwide. Yeah,
- 16:08Speaker 1: which is, by the way, according to Gallup polling, opposed
- 16:11Speaker 1: by eighty one of Black Americans. It was either Gallup
- 16:14Speaker 1: or was a YouGov pole But it just came out.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And if Black Lives Matter succeeded in their stated objective
- 16:20Speaker 1: of abolishing police, the result would be many, many more
- 16:22Speaker 1: Black lives are lost, of course, because you would have
- 16:25Speaker 1: many more murders, many more rapes, many more assaults, which
- 16:27Speaker 1: sadly we're seeing in big cities right now as police
- 16:30Speaker 1: are are are being held back, but but without law enforcement,
- 16:35Speaker 1: those living in the most high crime neighborhoods get they're
- 16:38Speaker 1: victims and many of the far too many of the
- 16:41Speaker 1: victims of crime or African American and Black Lives Matter.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It is essentially abandoning him to that. Not only that
- 16:46Speaker 1: Black Lives Matter, the organization calls for abolishing the nuclear
- 16:51Speaker 1: family like moms and dads. Don't just say that again,
- 16:56Speaker 1: it's very like they explicit and this go read their
- 16:59Speaker 1: own website. Don't take my word for it. That's what
- 17:03Speaker 1: they're advocating for now, let me tell you. And by
- 17:05Speaker 1: the way, they also call for a white boycott. They
- 17:11Speaker 1: say boycott white corporations, that nobody should buy anything from
- 17:15Speaker 1: white corporations. Now, one of the things I talked about
- 17:19Speaker 1: the hearing yesterday, we're seeing all these companies, particularly tech
- 17:22Speaker 1: companies they're wanting to virtue signal, who are giving millions
- 17:26Speaker 1: and millions of dollars right to this organization Black Lives Matter.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Those are among those tech companies that are doing it
- 17:33Speaker 1: are Microsoft, Amazon. I went and listed a whole bunch,
- 17:38Speaker 1: but but pause for a second and think. Look, Microsoft,
- 17:42Speaker 1: it's largest shareholders a guy named Bill Gates. Yeah. Last
- 17:45Speaker 1: time I checked, Bill Gates, a white guy. Yeah. So
- 17:48Speaker 1: Microsoft is literally donating money to an organization calling for
- 17:53Speaker 1: people to boycott Microsoft, like like saying do not purchase
- 17:56Speaker 1: any products from anything Bill Gate. Amazon. Amazon's given him money. Yeah,
- 18:01Speaker 1: Jeff Bezos is a white guy. Amazon is funding a
- 18:04Speaker 1: group saying don't buy anything from Amazon. And it's look,
- 18:10Speaker 1: you want to support social justice, great, wonderful, Go support
- 18:15Speaker 1: school choice, Go give scholarships for inner city kids to
- 18:18Speaker 1: go to excellent schools. There are all sorts of things
- 18:20Speaker 1: you can do. But the problem is because people are
- 18:24Speaker 1: terrified of contradicting the indisputably true statement that black lives matter. Yeah,
- 18:31Speaker 1: that they'll support this awful organization, and they are funding
- 18:35Speaker 1: explicit Marxists who want to destroy capitalism, destroy for enterprise,
- 18:45Speaker 1: destroy the family. Speaking of our friends who were stuck
- 18:47Speaker 1: at home, a number of them are writing in questions
- 18:50Speaker 1: for the mail bag from Balaam's donkey. This is a
- 18:53Speaker 1: Twitter account. I don't think it's this. I don't think
- 18:54Speaker 1: it's this Christian name. What can I do personally to
- 18:58Speaker 1: stop this madness? I'm not I'm not important. I'm not
- 19:01Speaker 1: even a good debater, but I know what I believe.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Give me specifics. Speak, speak to your friends, speak to
- 19:09Speaker 1: your family, and you know what you are famous, bloms
- 19:12Speaker 1: Docky Donkey, because you've got with social media, every one
- 19:16Speaker 1: of us is publisher. Now I know you also on
- 19:18Speaker 1: a big podcast right now, like every one of us
- 19:20Speaker 1: can speak out. And I actually tell like, I don't
- 19:24Speaker 1: know how how old bloms Docky is, but I talked
- 19:26Speaker 1: to a lot of you know, high school kids, college kids,
- 19:30Speaker 1: and when it comes to defending freedom, why it is
- 19:35Speaker 1: freedom matter? I say, Look, you can do it much better.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I'm forty nine years old. How many fifteen year olds
- 19:40Speaker 1: are gonna listen to me? Yeah, I'd much rather have
- 19:42Speaker 1: a fifteen year old say why does it matter to
- 19:44Speaker 1: be free? Use your voice to explain why freedom matters,
- 19:49Speaker 1: why free speech matters. Look, the left are intolerant, totalitarian,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and oppressive. So speaking out using humor, uh, telling stories? Um?
- 20:03Speaker 1: And on that point, knowing what you say. I mean
- 20:06Speaker 1: Balama's donkey says he knows what he believes, and I
- 20:08Speaker 1: believe him. But I think some people, you know, they
- 20:11Speaker 1: want to get out there and argue their point of view.
- 20:12Speaker 1: The other the other side of this is study the facts,
- 20:15Speaker 1: I mean, read up, no, know what your point of
- 20:18Speaker 1: view is, so that you can articulate why, why you
- 20:20Speaker 1: support your country, why you like your freedoms while you
- 20:22Speaker 1: like your rights and and and help educate others. And look,
- 20:28Speaker 1: left and right tend to communicate differently. Um. Too many
- 20:32Speaker 1: people on the right communicate like accountants. Yes, yes, just
- 20:36Speaker 1: throws crazy numbers in a green eye shade. Yeah. And
- 20:39Speaker 1: and the left they go for the heart. Yeah. I
- 20:42Speaker 1: mean their argument is he wants to eat your children. Yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I mean that's what they say, right, we got to
- 20:48Speaker 1: do both. It's why stories are you know, when you
- 20:53Speaker 1: and I did the pod with John Voyd, Yeah, and
- 20:56Speaker 1: you're we're talking to him about like storytelling is a
- 20:59Speaker 1: natural skill. And actually, actually this may have been afterwards
- 21:02Speaker 1: where we were we were enjoying a cigar together, and
- 21:06Speaker 1: I think I think this was after the pod and
- 21:08Speaker 1: we were we were talking with John and and I said, look,
- 21:11Speaker 1: storytelling is a natural human expression of all of us,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and and and it's how we all communicate. And John
- 21:19Speaker 1: discres it. No no, no, no, no no or no
- 21:21Speaker 1: lad I think, no, no, lad, no, you do a
- 21:23Speaker 1: better avoid impression than I do. But but his to
- 21:27Speaker 1: be sure, there are better storytellers, and we're storytellers, right,
- 21:31Speaker 1: but it is how our hearts are stitched together. Yes, yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 1: so tell stories. We need more than just eggheads. I
- 21:38Speaker 1: mean we want, you know, we want the accounting to
- 21:40Speaker 1: work out, but you have to grab people with a narrative.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Chase wants to know, speaking of sometimes we're lemmings, sometimes
- 21:48Speaker 1: we fight back. He has a question about owning the libs,
- 21:51Speaker 1: you know, a politics of opposition, Yeah, banding together, He says,
- 21:54Speaker 1: is owning the Libs a strong enough policy platform to
- 21:58Speaker 1: win the House, Senate, the White House? Of course? Not so,
- 22:01Speaker 1: of course not. Look this election, we win, Trump gets
- 22:07Speaker 1: re elected. Republicans win. If this is a battle of
- 22:11Speaker 1: ideas because the left is gone insane, Yeah, their ideas
- 22:15Speaker 1: are terrible. If this is a battle between socialism and
- 22:19Speaker 1: free enterprise, we win. If this is a battle between
- 22:26Speaker 1: abolishing the police and protecting people's safety, we win. Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Like their positions are so extreme. But I suppose this
- 22:34Speaker 1: raises the question because when I hear owning the Libs,
- 22:37Speaker 1: there is something to this right, a politics of opposition,
- 22:40Speaker 1: where because their ideas are so extreme, because they're you know,
- 22:45Speaker 1: they're like pulling down statues and burning down the country.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I wonder if if what Chase is asking is is
- 22:50Speaker 1: it enough to just point to their craziness. So my
- 22:53Speaker 1: point on this, though, is that we have to fight
- 22:57Speaker 1: on the field of ideas. I think that Democrats want
- 23:02Speaker 1: to make this election entirely a personality election, and they
- 23:06Speaker 1: wanted a referendum. Undo you like Donald Trump? Yes or no?
- 23:09Speaker 1: There's a reason Joe Biden is hiding his basement, right,
- 23:13Speaker 1: And it's actually I don't think that it's seen that
- 23:15Speaker 1: he's seen Island has dementia. I think they've made the decision.
- 23:18Speaker 1: They think they're winning on a personality popularity contest on
- 23:23Speaker 1: Donald Trump, and so they just figure, all right, why
- 23:25Speaker 1: you know, if you're winning, don't mess with it. Yeah
- 23:28Speaker 1: and so and so. From their perspective, they would characterize
- 23:32Speaker 1: it as sort of owning Trump. Let's let's just make it, yeah,
- 23:35Speaker 1: all about him. Look, you and I both have fun
- 23:39Speaker 1: on Twitter, and you know I own the occasional lib
- 23:43Speaker 1: nothing wrong with that, but I try to do it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I know you two actually on substance and issues. So
- 23:49Speaker 1: if it's a question do you have the guts to
- 23:51Speaker 1: actually take him on? Yes, that matters. Yeah, do you
- 23:56Speaker 1: have a sense of humor and be fun about it?
- 23:58Speaker 1: You know? Do you see the Portland rights are now
- 24:00Speaker 1: complaining They want like like the government to fund equipment
- 24:05Speaker 1: so they could riot. And look, I saw that and
- 24:08Speaker 1: I tweeted it out and I said, you know, absolutely,
- 24:10Speaker 1: I agree. I'm more than happy to give it to you.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Every one of you that engages in violence, I'll give
- 24:15Speaker 1: you a taxpayer paid orange jumpsuit. That's exactly right. I mean,
- 24:21Speaker 1: it's you know, but it needs to be on substance.
- 24:27Speaker 1: There's also a point to that. When I'm saying that,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I'm making a point that these are violent criminals that
- 24:31Speaker 1: should be incarcerated. You can have a little bit of
- 24:35Speaker 1: fun with it, yeah, and you probably should, but it's
- 24:38Speaker 1: got to be grounded and something real if it's going
- 24:40Speaker 1: to be effective. You know, just saying you suck it
- 24:43Speaker 1: is not a great message. And frankly, is how leftist.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I mean that that's basically what what they say to
- 24:49Speaker 1: Trump is they just hate him. I mean, they're just
- 24:51Speaker 1: orange man bad. I mean, that's just they just scream
- 24:56Speaker 1: primal rage. But look how many Republicans are actually engaged
- 25:04Speaker 1: in a real battle of ideas right now? Yea. And
- 25:07Speaker 1: what I'm urging the White House if they let it
- 25:10Speaker 1: be a personality contest, yep, that's what the left wants.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That's what the left wants, and I think that's much
- 25:17Speaker 1: more dangerous than focusing on ideas that work. Yeah, well,
- 25:21Speaker 1: we will have to leave it there. I will see
- 25:23Speaker 1: you on the next episode. We'll see you on the
- 25:26Speaker 1: next episode. I'm Michael Knowles. This is Verdict with Ted Cruz.
- 25:38Speaker 1: This episode of Verdict with Ted Cruz is being brought
- 25:41Speaker 1: to you by Jobs, Freedom and Security Pack, a political
- 25:45Speaker 1: action committee dedicated to supporting conservative causes, organizations, and candidates
- 25:50Speaker 1: across the country. In twenty twenty two, Jobs Freedom and
- 25:53Speaker 1: Security Pack plans to donate to conservative candidates running for
- 25:57Speaker 1: Congress and help the Republican Party across the aim
