- 1:55Speaker 3: Come come out.
- 1:59Speaker 2: You think that? Uh huh?
- 2:02Speaker 8: I sure, well, good morning everybody. You're listening to the
- 2:06Speaker 8: voice come on dig me now. One and only Steve
- 2:10Speaker 8: Harvey got a radio show. I was had my head
- 2:15Speaker 8: down and it was thinking of what I wanted to
- 2:18Speaker 8: say this morning. But it kind of uh, it's kind
- 2:24Speaker 8: of be something I've lived for a long time, and
- 2:29Speaker 8: you know, for a long time, you know, I had
- 2:31Speaker 8: a lot of faith in people.
- 2:33Speaker 2: You know.
- 2:33Speaker 8: It's it's strange too because you know, you know, my
- 2:37Speaker 8: mother was a Sunday school teacher, so of course I
- 2:40Speaker 8: grew up around knowing, uh, scriptures and things like that.
- 2:44Speaker 8: Not not a lot of them, but you know the
- 2:46Speaker 8: ones I retained. But having her as a mother was
- 2:51Speaker 8: was a huge help and understand about faith. But even
- 2:53Speaker 8: with that, as I grew up, I began to put
- 2:58Speaker 8: a lot of faith in people, and you know, I figured, uh,
- 3:02Speaker 8: you know, just like everybody else, you know, man if
- 3:04Speaker 8: I could just meet this person, or if I could
- 3:07Speaker 8: just sit down with that person, or man if I
- 3:10Speaker 8: could just get this person to hear my ideal, or
- 3:14Speaker 8: man if just if this person could hear my track,
- 3:17Speaker 8: or man if I could just get this in the
- 3:19Speaker 8: hands of somebody in the know.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I was, like everybody else, I thought that way.
- 3:25Speaker 8: You know, I actually thought that if I could get
- 3:27Speaker 8: in a certain situation with a certain person, that if
- 3:30Speaker 8: a certain person were to meet me, that you know,
- 3:34Speaker 8: it could change everything for me. Oh man, Oh how
- 3:38Speaker 8: wrong I was? Oh how wrong I was? How long
- 3:43Speaker 8: did I spend feeling that way? And how many of
- 3:45Speaker 8: you out there possibly have felt that way before? You know,
- 3:49Speaker 8: like even in a relationship, this is the person for me,
- 3:53Speaker 8: and you know, you just lay claim to that, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 8: not necessarily being a fact, but you just lay claim
- 3:58Speaker 8: to it. This is the person and for me, this
- 4:00Speaker 8: is the person that I want to spend the rest
- 4:03Speaker 8: of my life with. You know, sometimes, you know, we
- 4:05Speaker 8: just lay claim and stuff, and it's not always what's
- 4:07Speaker 8: in our best interest, or it's not always a fact,
- 4:10Speaker 8: it's just what we decided we wanted. And I was
- 4:13Speaker 8: guilty of that, just like anybody else. And I spent
- 4:17Speaker 8: a lot of years in my life putting faith in people. Man,
- 4:21Speaker 8: if I could tell you anything this morning, it's to
- 4:24Speaker 8: stop putting your faith in people and put your faith
- 4:27Speaker 8: in God where it counts the most. I mean, you
- 4:30Speaker 8: can get something out of this one. See, here's a
- 4:32Speaker 8: deal about a relationship with God. It's the same all
- 4:36Speaker 8: the time. He never changes. His word is one hundred
- 4:40Speaker 8: percent absolute. His word doesn't have loopholes in it, none
- 4:44Speaker 8: of that. It's this is what it is. He's very clear. Now,
- 4:49Speaker 8: you can deviate off your end of a bargain, but
- 4:53Speaker 8: it don't stop what he says from being true. But
- 4:56Speaker 8: if he asked you to do something, if God asked
- 4:59Speaker 8: you to be a certain way, to do a little
- 5:01Speaker 8: something a certain way, and you don't do it that way,
- 5:04Speaker 8: then you know you could still possibly get by for
- 5:08Speaker 8: a while. But don't you understand that his end of
- 5:12Speaker 8: the deal stays the same, and as long as you're
- 5:14Speaker 8: not doing it the way you're supposed to, the results
- 5:17Speaker 8: are not going to be what you wanted to be.
- 5:19Speaker 8: And I did this for years and years and years,
- 5:22Speaker 8: and I counted on people, and you know, I got
- 5:25Speaker 8: myself in a lot of situations. And I got out
- 5:28Speaker 8: one a dire situation that I'd been in for a
- 5:31Speaker 8: number of years. But he had protected me from years
- 5:34Speaker 8: prior to that. I didn't even know what was going on,
- 5:36Speaker 8: and then he made it, made me aware of the problem.
- 5:40Speaker 8: And then, man, Lord have mercy, I was in a
- 5:43Speaker 8: dismal situation. And then at the end of the year,
- 5:46Speaker 8: I was free, free from it all. But it was
- 5:49Speaker 8: a decision that I had made that led up to that,
- 5:53Speaker 8: and in going through that process, I had to learn something.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Man.
- 5:58Speaker 8: I learned a lot about people. See, if you want
- 6:01Speaker 8: to learn about your friends, if you want to learn
- 6:03Speaker 8: about your people people around you, Get yourself in some trouble,
- 6:08Speaker 8: get yourself in a situation, oh man, you start looking around,
- 6:12Speaker 8: man to feel get real clear when you're in trouble.
- 6:16Speaker 8: The feel clear is out. When you're in doubt, when
- 6:19Speaker 8: you don't know what to do, when you need help it,
- 6:22Speaker 8: get real clear on the play and field, then don't it.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Ah.
- 6:25Speaker 8: But when things is going right, it's time for a party.
- 6:28Speaker 8: We throwing a celebration. We gonna we're gonna do one
- 6:32Speaker 8: down here. Oh man, there's plenty of people on the field.
- 6:35Speaker 8: But but but get yourself in a situation. You find
- 6:38Speaker 8: out rather quickly that oh no, oh no, everybody ain't here.
- 6:43Speaker 8: And that's when I started learning. And I'm telling you,
- 6:46Speaker 8: I had to start learning this for real until I
- 6:49Speaker 8: finally got it to stop putting my faith in people
- 6:52Speaker 8: and put all the mind in God where it counts
- 6:55Speaker 8: the most. Now is that to say that there are
- 6:57Speaker 8: people that you can't trust. No, that's not what I'm saying.
- 7:00Speaker 8: I ain't say you can't trust him, but you can't
- 7:03Speaker 8: dump your faith in them. I got it all riding
- 7:06Speaker 8: on what he say. I got it all riding on
- 7:09Speaker 8: what she say. No, no, uh uh no, I hear
- 7:15Speaker 8: you saying it. But I'm gonna keep my own this
- 7:19Speaker 8: situation because I hear you saying it. But I'm gonna
- 7:22Speaker 8: take this faith of mine and instead of putting it
- 7:25Speaker 8: in people, I'm gonna put it in God where it
- 7:27Speaker 8: counts the most. Because his word is absolute. What he
- 7:31Speaker 8: say he's gonna do, he gonna do what he says.
- 7:33Speaker 8: He's not gonna tolerate, He's not gonna tolerate. Now, you
- 7:36Speaker 8: can make it. You can make it tolerable for yourself,
- 7:38Speaker 8: but He's not gonna tolerate it. And that's just the
- 7:41Speaker 8: end of the line. And so you know, I'm wondering
- 7:44Speaker 8: how many people out there find themselves in a situation
- 7:47Speaker 8: like me. Or maybe you've gotten yourself in a situation
- 7:50Speaker 8: because you put your faith in some people and now
- 7:52Speaker 8: you wound up in a different type of situation. Now,
- 7:55Speaker 8: let me ask you where the people at The only
- 8:00Speaker 8: that I found when I was in my deepest trouble,
- 8:04Speaker 8: when me and my wife were in our darkest situation,
- 8:07Speaker 8: was God. It was the only one, was the only
- 8:10Speaker 8: one who was just right there, right there, all the
- 8:14Speaker 8: way through. Now, let me explain something to you. Because
- 8:21Speaker 8: you have this relationship with God, it does not mean,
- 8:24Speaker 8: it does not mean now that it won't get It
- 8:27Speaker 8: won't still be a situation, you understand. But what He
- 8:32Speaker 8: will do is protect you during that period. He'll cover
- 8:37Speaker 8: you during that period that it is a situation. He
- 8:40Speaker 8: will give you the strength to overcome the situation when
- 8:44Speaker 8: it turns into a situation. Then when he cracks it
- 8:48Speaker 8: open for you and the sun is bright and shining,
- 8:51Speaker 8: what he don't want you to do is when it
- 8:52Speaker 8: gets sunny again, to forget about him who was there
- 8:56Speaker 8: when it was dark for you. See, I used to
- 8:59Speaker 8: do that too, you know. I was Oh, man, I
- 9:01Speaker 8: did it. I'm telling you right now, I did it.
- 9:04Speaker 8: But I'm telling you man, when I learned a very
- 9:07Speaker 8: serious lesson and I watched some people I thought were
- 9:11Speaker 8: friends of mine just sort of casually remove themselves from
- 9:17Speaker 8: the situation.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Then I said, okay. Me and Marjorie looked around.
- 9:21Speaker 8: We said, okay, it's just me, you and God. And
- 9:24Speaker 8: when we started conducting ourselves accordingly. So when it's sunny
- 9:29Speaker 8: for us, we remember God. We stay prayerful, we keep
- 9:33Speaker 8: talking to him. We thank him for the sunshine, we
- 9:36Speaker 8: thank him for the dark days that he allowed us
- 9:39Speaker 8: to do, who allowed us to survive it and turn
- 9:41Speaker 8: it into sunny days. And we talked to him constantly
- 9:44Speaker 8: to protect us of our future enemies. And that's what
- 9:47Speaker 8: the deal is. So if I was everybody, I would
- 9:49Speaker 8: stop putting your faith in people and put your trust
- 9:52Speaker 8: in God where it really does count the most, it
- 9:55Speaker 8: really really does.
- 9:56Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 10:03Speaker 8: Ladies and Gentlemen, Ladies and gentlemen, if I have your attention,

- 10:19Speaker 8: miss one thousand percent? Did another day? Do you know
- 10:25Speaker 8: how many days it's being. Nobody really knows that exact number.
- 10:30Speaker 8: Do you know how many days it's being? And he
- 10:34Speaker 8: has never missed a single sunrise?

- 22:21Speaker 10: Carucchie Tran was right there supporting Coach Prime during his

- 22:35Speaker 10: to you hear what he said? Come yeah, all right, ready,
- 22:39Speaker 10: ready clo. Yes, she's love Officer Steve Harvey all the time, Okay,
- 22:45Speaker 10: Christine and Columbia rights. I put my daughter in a

- 22:51Speaker 10: He thinks she will be dressing like a grown woman
- 22:54Speaker 10: and wearing a lot of makeup. That's a big part
- 22:57Speaker 10: of it. But I'm going to be with her all
- 23:00Speaker 10: the time. Do I need his blessing?
- 23:05Speaker 2: Well? Are they together? Are they co parenting?
- 23:10Speaker 10: What was well, it sounds like yeah, they're they're together.
- 23:13Speaker 10: They're together.
- 23:14Speaker 8: He just I mean, you know, I mean you have
- 23:16Speaker 8: to consider see me and know something that women don't.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Know about other men, you mean, yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Me and know how men really are just like right exactly.
- 23:29Speaker 8: And a man knows ain't no need of rushing rushing
- 23:32Speaker 8: the procedure because the procedure is coming. So he don't
- 23:36Speaker 8: want his little girl made up in all this extra
- 23:39Speaker 8: makeup looking older than she really is.
- 23:42Speaker 2: That's a concern of his, you know.
- 23:45Speaker 8: And so the fact that you're gonna be there with her,
- 23:48Speaker 8: I mean, that's a decision the two of you have
- 23:51Speaker 8: to come to though.
- 23:51Speaker 2: But that's his concern, yea.
- 23:54Speaker 8: And that really is his concern, and it's a legitimate concern.
- 23:58Speaker 10: Right, And basically she's asked, does she need his blessing?
- 24:01Speaker 10: Should she go ahead and do it without his blessing?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Does she need?
- 24:04Speaker 2: Well, it's his daughter too, right, that's what you know, y'all.
- 24:09Speaker 8: Y'all come on now, it's this man is obviously involved
- 24:14Speaker 8: in the little girl's life. You know what's going on.
- 24:16Speaker 8: He should have a say so now you know, y'all

- 24:54Speaker 1: Wait? Listen, listen, So how do how do I see?
- 24:58Speaker 1: If the friend is interested in me too?
- 25:01Speaker 2: Come on, go ahead, boy, Hey y'all, listen to me.
- 25:05Speaker 8: This ain't this ain't no advice about know how why
- 25:09Speaker 8: my girl tripping?
- 25:10Speaker 2: This ain't none of that.
- 25:13Speaker 8: Her beautiful friend came over to the table exactly exactly.
- 25:17Speaker 2: I'm telling you right now.

- 25:26Speaker 8: my faith.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I know that.
- 25:30Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure out from you, Steve.
- 25:32Speaker 8: Is it the way that I can find out is
- 25:35Speaker 8: if she feel in me?
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah? That's what he wants to do. Now.
- 25:40Speaker 8: If I was you, dog, this is what I would do.
- 25:44Speaker 8: I would find her on social media Instagram?
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 10: Yeah, So you want him to get with the beautiful girlfriend.
- 25:55Speaker 2: It was love at first sight.
- 25:57Speaker 10: He had dinner with his girling friend girlfriend.
- 26:04Speaker 2: But I ain't going nowhere right. Everybody ain't for you.
- 26:07Speaker 1: She's just his girlfriend, her friends, her beautiful friends.
- 26:11Speaker 8: So now listen to me. If I get her information Facebook.

- 26:21Speaker 8: just gonna keep it one hundred with.
- 26:25Speaker 2: It was love at first sight.
- 26:29Speaker 8: I I'm just telling you right now, I was sitting

- 26:56Speaker 8: that's what I do.
- 27:04Speaker 2: She's not very.
- 27:06Speaker 8: I'm very comfortable because he had no concern about how
- 27:10Speaker 8: she feels. No, he didn't have no concern about how
- 27:13Speaker 8: she felt.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Was Steve?
- 27:15Speaker 8: Why would she trip? She talking about you flirting right
- 27:18Speaker 8: in front of my face. Yes, I'm in love with her.
- 27:23Speaker 8: What you want me to do?
- 27:24Speaker 1: Men love beautiful women, all right? Moving on to Monique

- 27:32Speaker 10: Monique rites, I jumped on my husband's auntie after she
- 27:35Speaker 10: smoked a cigarette in my bathroom.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Okay, it's best clos ever.
- 27:41Speaker 10: Yes, So she jumped on her husband's aunt. Her husband
- 27:46Speaker 10: sided with the aunt and said that she could have
- 27:49Speaker 10: handled things differently, that his wife could have handled things differently.
- 27:53Speaker 10: She said, he knows that I have asthma, so how
- 27:55Speaker 10: can he defend her smoking in our home?
- 28:00Speaker 2: It ain't that lady. It's that you jumped on her.
- 28:03Speaker 8: Yeah, that's the card, and you could have handled it
- 28:09Speaker 8: another way. Talked to her, how could you banned her
- 28:14Speaker 8: from coming over? Told her how inconsiderate it was. But no,
- 28:20Speaker 8: you went straight from zero to sixty.
- 28:25Speaker 2: But this hide went though.
- 28:27Speaker 8: She was going down the hallway and smelled the smoke,
- 28:31Speaker 8: and she she was standing in the hallway as soon
- 28:33Speaker 8: as Aunt Claire opened the door.
- 28:36Speaker 13: Then her mouth, wow broke So smoking somebodyses, you don't.

- 28:59Speaker 2: Knock out some? That was right?
- 29:08Speaker 1: All right? Okay, last one, Steve.
- 29:13Speaker 10: This is from Annalise in Leesburg, and Annalise writes, my
- 29:18Speaker 10: husband is a great cook and he takes his lunch
- 29:21Speaker 10: to work. I saw his coworker in the grocery store
- 29:24Speaker 10: and she said she really enjoys my husband's food. He
- 29:28Speaker 10: confirmed that he's taking food to her. So does he
- 29:31Speaker 10: like this chick?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Or is he just showing off? What's going on here?
- 29:36Speaker 7: Hell?
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 29:38Speaker 1: What he likes her?
- 29:40Speaker 2: He fixed her fool for.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Well, so he likes her.
- 29:47Speaker 10: Oh and he didn't expect her to run into his
- 29:50Speaker 10: wife and tell his wife. Hell no, but why she
- 29:54Speaker 10: have to tell his wife she.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Likes y'all's messing.
- 30:02Speaker 8: I really enjoy the stuff your husband be making for
- 30:05Speaker 8: me because I don't even have to bring my lunch
- 30:07Speaker 8: no more.
- 30:08Speaker 2: DJ be cooking, web be sitting there. Oh it's Fanger
- 30:15Speaker 2: looking good.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Oh all right, thank you, Philo. We gotta go.
- 30:22Speaker 10: Coming up at the top of the hour, we'll have
- 30:24Speaker 10: some entertainment news for you right after this. You're listening
- 30:28Speaker 10: Steve Harvey Morning Show.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Well now.
- 30:34Speaker 10: According to the Black Information Network, stephen A. Smith is
- 30:37Speaker 10: facing backlash after he condemned State Rep. Jasmine Crockett over
- 30:42Speaker 10: her criticism of President Trump. Stephen A said in his
- 30:46Speaker 10: podcast that Representative Crockett's approach is wrong, and he said
- 30:50Speaker 10: this this about her quote. I'm just going to go
- 30:54Speaker 10: off about Trump, cuss him out every chance I get,
- 30:57Speaker 10: say the most derogatory and scendiary things imaginable, and that's
- 31:01Speaker 10: my day's work.
- 31:02Speaker 1: That ain't work end quote.
- 31:04Speaker 10: Stephen A is receiving backlash after he said that because
- 31:08Speaker 10: keep in mind that President Trump.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Has repeatedly said that State Rep.
- 31:12Speaker 10: Jasmine Crockett has a low IQ and is unqualified.
- 31:17Speaker 2: Wow, yeah, yeah, that's what he said.
- 31:22Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just going to go off
- 31:24Speaker 10: about Trump cuts him out every chance to get say
- 31:26Speaker 10: the most derogatory things about him and scendiary things about him, imaginable.
- 31:31Speaker 1: And he said, and that's my day's work. In other words,
- 31:34Speaker 1: that's what she does. That's her job, that's what she does.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Ortizing.
- 31:37Speaker 7: Yeah, he doesn't know, he doesn't know anything about Jasmin.
- 31:40Speaker 7: Jasmine is about her people. Jasmine is about the public.
- 31:43Speaker 7: Judsemine is out there defending everything about us, man, and
- 31:46Speaker 7: for him to sit there and say that he does know,
- 31:49Speaker 7: he doesn't know anything about her. If you sit back
- 31:51Speaker 7: and watch the track record of Jasmine and who she
- 31:53Speaker 7: is and what she was as a lawyer going into
- 31:56Speaker 7: this and being this, you will know exactly what Jasmine
- 31:59Speaker 7: is about. For Stephen to say that Stephen is really
- 32:03Speaker 7: off the record, I mean, he hasn't done his research.
- 32:05Speaker 7: And he's a person that is well known to do
- 32:07Speaker 7: his research. He hasn't studied this person at all.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Well said. And here's the other part.
- 32:18Speaker 8: You as a black man, have to be very careful
- 32:23Speaker 8: about what you say about a black woman who is
- 32:27Speaker 8: championing or CAUs On behalf of the people.
- 32:32Speaker 2: And sometimes it feels like she's the only one.
- 32:36Speaker 8: Raised her voice to say something in opposition as to
- 32:39Speaker 8: what's going on. You have got to start taking into
- 32:44Speaker 8: considered rate. You gotta read the room. Look, man, you
- 32:48Speaker 8: can feel how you want to feel. My father in
- 32:50Speaker 8: law say this all the time. Just because you can
- 32:54Speaker 8: say something don't mean you should see. And these podcasts
- 32:59Speaker 8: me and Charlemagne was on ERN you les, you're talking
- 33:02Speaker 8: about this whole thing. These podcasts get more people in
- 33:06Speaker 8: trouble because you get off your radio show and your
- 33:09Speaker 8: TV show and you get away from the constraints of
- 33:11Speaker 8: the FCC. And now you're on this podcast forgetting that
- 33:15Speaker 8: you are still a walking, living, breathing brand. Yeah, and
- 33:19Speaker 8: now you're making statements about somebody else's walking.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Living, breathing brand.
- 33:25Speaker 8: And you breathe out these comments because you're on a
- 33:28Speaker 8: quote unquote podcast, not realizing this gonna count in public sentiment,
- 33:35Speaker 8: just like what you say on ESPN or your talk show,
- 33:38Speaker 8: and on.
- 33:39Speaker 10: This particular show, we have to reel you in all
- 33:41Speaker 10: the time because of your brand. Don't forget that, right,
- 33:45Speaker 10: But you.
- 33:45Speaker 8: Know what, you ain't ever had to reel me in
- 33:48Speaker 8: I saying something crazy about black women.
- 33:50Speaker 1: No, no, and you always always stand up for that part.
- 33:56Speaker 2: See you can reel me now, y'all didn't reel me
- 33:59Speaker 2: in on some stuff out of see.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It about everything. Yeah, but no, you you don't know
- 34:04Speaker 1: you you always hold us up. You always do.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I saw something about, uh, you know several things. Y'all
- 34:11Speaker 2: have real men.
- 34:12Speaker 1: But we don't have to. We don't have to go
- 34:15Speaker 1: over it.
- 34:15Speaker 2: We're good. I could thought throw out some pointed examples.
- 34:18Speaker 14: No, no, no, let's move on, ye pull up, pull up,
- 34:27Speaker 14: Iamala Harris now Jasmine and.
- 34:31Speaker 2: I'm friends with I'm tired of texting him. We all
- 34:37Speaker 2: love Steven b Hey bro. When he did Therehanna come in,
- 34:42Speaker 2: I said, hey bro, this this ain't fit to work out.
- 34:44Speaker 8: Good. Then the whole Navy, Air Force, coach Guard, everybody swam, Yeah,
- 34:51Speaker 8: they all swam in.
- 34:53Speaker 2: It took his battleship down. Oh yeah. Then he said
- 34:56Speaker 2: something about uh.
- 34:59Speaker 1: He did he just.
- 35:01Speaker 5: Law?
- 35:02Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 35:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Stephen a dog. I got to call him again.
- 35:05Speaker 2: I ain't calling you.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Because he's not listening.
- 35:10Speaker 8: He's not tied of babysit. Steven Ay, I'm your boy.
- 35:13Speaker 8: Come on, man, I can't and I can't.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Even help you.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right his.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Sister, This sister is so qualified.
- 35:24Speaker 8: Yes, she's so high I Q. And she don't take
- 35:28Speaker 8: overnight to come back. She got it for you right down.
- 35:34Speaker 8: D Yeah, in the words on sight.
- 35:39Speaker 7: She's not scared man's and she's saying everything we want
- 35:43Speaker 7: to say.
- 35:44Speaker 1: And he's staying with her.
- 35:45Speaker 2: We support and she's brilliant.
- 35:48Speaker 9: Yeah, Steve Smith said anything about President Trump? Has he
- 35:52Speaker 9: said anything about the things that President's Trump has seen
- 35:55Speaker 9: about that?
- 35:57Speaker 8: Uh?
- 35:59Speaker 1: Great question And the answer I'm sure is.
- 36:02Speaker 2: See that junior.
- 36:03Speaker 8: See you probably need to loosen your baseball cap up
- 36:06Speaker 8: now because you're all up in it now.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Now you do.
- 36:11Speaker 1: What Just a question?
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, a question. Though they said anything about Trump.
- 36:17Speaker 10: Trump says whatever he wants. You could say it, jor whatever.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I mean. He does.
- 36:22Speaker 8: Man, that we're in a we're in a time we've
- 36:26Speaker 8: never been in before. We have a man that's in
- 36:29Speaker 8: the White House that we've never had the likes of before.
- 36:34Speaker 8: You may have thought the way he thought, but they
- 36:37Speaker 8: had the decency not to say it. He on the
- 36:41Speaker 8: other hand, he making comments about bad Bunny. He all
- 36:45Speaker 8: in the Super Bowl, he all on Taylors with album.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Jail Kings Contract. Yeah, Stephen Colbert, Cobert.

- 39:17Speaker 8: better than me.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Grandma. That that ain't like really high?
- 39:24Speaker 1: Yeah about that?
- 39:28Speaker 8: You know, yeah, I would I say something. If I wouldn't,
- 39:32Speaker 8: I wouldn't have put Grammy in there, because to talk

- 39:37Speaker 1: They've surpassed you, that one for sure. Yeah.
- 39:40Speaker 2: I don't know where she was trying to swim at though.

- 40:40Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 40:41Speaker 14: Also, she was talking about she doesn't want to hear
- 40:43Speaker 14: it from her kids when they say they don't want
- 40:45Speaker 14: to go to practice, they don't want to do all
- 40:47Speaker 14: these things, and she's saying the discipline. She's not letting
- 40:51Speaker 14: them not participate because they tired or did this and
- 40:55Speaker 14: there that.
- 40:56Speaker 6: So I love that.
- 40:57Speaker 1: I love that she's trying to push them to be better.

- 43:35Speaker 2: sound like he works some well, he was at his
- 43:36Speaker 2: other job, but.
- 43:37Speaker 4: That he sounded like he failed.
- 43:40Speaker 2: A couple of people, y'all talking like him.
- 43:44Speaker 8: Hey hold on, hold on, I'll bello't over yet.
- 43:48Speaker 2: It went without trying to.
- 43:51Speaker 8: I have people of and I bring two three people
- 43:55Speaker 8: with me in case you go unders because I went
- 43:59Speaker 8: under one because I know you're kind of big. And

- 44:12Speaker 8: That's what you You got strong out of that side
- 44:16Speaker 8: to me, sound like he gonna slow swim out to
- 44:20Speaker 8: say I didn't get strong.
- 44:23Speaker 14: I did.
- 44:24Speaker 8: I guess I got the cautious, careful, slow, calculin that's
- 44:30Speaker 8: what you want though.
- 44:32Speaker 1: All right, moving on, Thank you Eric for the phone call.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Josh from New Orleans. Josh has a question.
- 44:39Speaker 5: Hey, how you doing. I'm Josh from New Orleans. I
- 44:41Speaker 5: just had a question. What if such black refer back
- 44:45Speaker 5: to going to the Republican Party and maybe about forty
- 44:49Speaker 5: percent of us just train this is from Democratic to
- 44:51Speaker 5: a Publican party? How was that make to Republican Party. Look,
- 44:56Speaker 5: I know we probably won't be dominant, but we too
- 44:59Speaker 5: have big voice changing views. They make it harder for
- 45:03Speaker 5: the emotion. Justest wring something I thought about this morning.
- 45:07Speaker 5: All through the people like Jackie Roberton, look at Washington
- 45:10Speaker 5: or Hurt and people like that who are Republican for
- 45:15Speaker 5: less rise across my mind.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Yeah, the Republican Party used to be different.
- 45:20Speaker 1: It really was.
- 45:21Speaker 8: But the Republican Party along the way had to change
- 45:26Speaker 8: and become something else. After the abolition, after the abolition
- 45:30Speaker 8: of slavery, it had to become something else. They had
- 45:36Speaker 8: to find a way to get control between the South
- 45:41Speaker 8: and the North, and because the South was so heavy
- 45:44Speaker 8: populated with blacks, they didn't allow them to vote. They
- 45:48Speaker 8: didn't have the power. So then they created the Republican Party.
- 45:52Speaker 8: Changed over the years. Now we can all go to
- 45:55Speaker 8: the Republican Party and adapt to their h yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 46:00Speaker 8: their platform exactly.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And so now what do you have? I have more
- 46:06Speaker 2: comments on that, all right?
- 46:08Speaker 10: Coming up, it is a nephew and the prank phone
- 46:10Speaker 10: call for today. Right after this cone falls, the comb falls.
- 46:15Speaker 10: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. Coming up
- 46:23Speaker 10: at the top of the hour, right about four minutes after,
- 46:25Speaker 10: it's my strawberry letter for today, and the subject is
- 46:29Speaker 10: why can't he talk around me?
- 46:32Speaker 1: Why can he talk around me?
- 46:34Speaker 10: We'll get into that find out what that's all about
- 46:37Speaker 10: in just a few because right now the nephew is

- 56:49Speaker 1: Let up, You're all lounge.
- 56:51Speaker 10: Thank you, nephew. Subject why can't he talk around me?
- 56:55Speaker 10: Dear Stephen Shirley, I'm engaged to a man that never
- 56:58Speaker 10: talks on the phone around me. He won't answer the
- 57:00Speaker 10: phone in my presence, and he barely texts around me.
- 57:04Speaker 10: In the beginning of our courtship, I used to be
- 57:06Speaker 10: on the phone all the time, either facetiming my mom
- 57:09Speaker 10: or scrolling on social media. He cut all of that
- 57:12Speaker 10: out and said we need to be intentional with our
- 57:15Speaker 10: time together. He used to come over to my house
- 57:17Speaker 10: and leave his phone in the kitchen so it didn't
- 57:19Speaker 10: disturb us, and I love that about him. In the
- 57:22Speaker 10: past few months, he switched up his phone habits. When
- 57:26Speaker 10: he gets to my house, he's always on the phone.
- 57:29Speaker 10: He gets off as soon as he pulls up in
- 57:31Speaker 10: my driveway. I've been outside and seen it with my
- 57:34Speaker 10: own eyes. If he takes a call while we're out,
- 57:38Speaker 10: he walks away to talk on the phone and then
- 57:40Speaker 10: hangs up before he comes back to the table. We've
- 57:43Speaker 10: spent a lot of nights together and his phone is
- 57:46Speaker 10: nowhere to be found when I'm at his house. Like
- 57:49Speaker 10: I said, I thought it was sweet at first, but
- 57:52Speaker 10: after two years of dating, it's totally fine to be
- 57:55Speaker 10: on the phone around me. His mom is fussed at
- 57:58Speaker 10: him for not taking her calls. I want to talk
- 58:00Speaker 10: to his parents. He'll tell me to call them on
- 58:03Speaker 10: my own time. I don't want to create drama where
- 58:06Speaker 10: there is none. But you have to admit that it's
- 58:08Speaker 10: strange that my fiance gets off the phone whenever he
- 58:12Speaker 10: pulls up to my house and he gets back on
- 58:15Speaker 10: the phone when he's pulling out of my driveway. It
- 58:18Speaker 10: makes me think that he's hiding something from me. I
- 58:21Speaker 10: would go through his phone, but I never know where
- 58:23Speaker 10: he's hiding it. I'm also scared of what I might
- 58:26Speaker 10: find out. How can we be married if he can't
- 58:29Speaker 10: talk to his friends and family around me. Yeah, Well,
- 58:34Speaker 10: whoever he's talking to and whatever they're talking about, he
- 58:37Speaker 10: doesn't want you to know, or he doesn't want you
- 58:39Speaker 10: to hear it. Before when you guys, like you said,
- 58:43Speaker 10: were just starting out and all of that, he wanted
- 58:45Speaker 10: you to be intentional. He didn't want you to be
- 58:47Speaker 10: on the phone, and he didn't want to be on
- 58:49Speaker 10: the phone. He left his phone in the kitchen. So
- 58:52Speaker 10: I say, yeah, he is hiding something, which should not
- 58:55Speaker 10: be the case. Since you guys are engaged and you
- 58:58Speaker 10: have been for two years and you're you should be
- 59:00Speaker 10: getting married soon. You already know this is no way
- 59:03Speaker 10: to start off a marriage. There are just too many
- 59:05Speaker 10: secrets going on, and this is one thing that you
- 59:08Speaker 10: really don't like I say. There is something he's hiding
- 59:11Speaker 10: and he doesn't care how it makes you feel. At
- 59:14Speaker 10: this point, marriage is also about trust, you know that,
- 59:19Speaker 10: and what he's doing is making you lose trust in him.
- 59:22Speaker 10: You need to really look at him and consider what
- 59:25Speaker 10: your relationship and marriage is going to look like. If
- 59:29Speaker 10: he's doing it now, he's not going to change. He'll
- 59:31Speaker 10: do it when you guys get married. You're not going
- 59:33Speaker 10: to want your husband talking in secret around you. So
- 59:36Speaker 10: you got to think about this before you walk down
- 59:39Speaker 10: that aisle.
- 59:40Speaker 8: Steve, Wow, lady, you know I try to defend me
- 59:46Speaker 8: in when I can. I really do, because sometimes you
- 59:50Speaker 8: all go off on tangents that have no factual bearing
- 59:55Speaker 8: at all. You're going off on something that happened in
- 59:59Speaker 8: your pay asked, and you bring that baggage into the
- 1:00:02Speaker 8: relationship and all of a sudden.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Every man is just like that.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: And that's not the case, however, But.
- 1:00:12Speaker 8: When you write a letter and I'm trying to find
- 1:00:18Speaker 8: you know what, let me help you. I always try
- 1:00:20Speaker 8: to find the redeeming quality in a man. If you
- 1:00:24Speaker 8: don't mention any redeeming qualities, then you give me nothing.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: To fight with.
- 1:00:29Speaker 8: I want to try to help save relationships because a
- 1:00:32Speaker 8: lot of people break up too early. It's just really
- 1:00:35Speaker 8: a factual fact now because it's Instagram, instant coffee, instant relationships.
- 1:00:41Speaker 8: I get on this app and I'll find somebody I
- 1:00:44Speaker 8: know you're not know you're not all right, So let
- 1:00:48Speaker 8: me try to help. Why can't he talk around me?
- 1:00:52Speaker 8: Let me just answer that question first, because he don't
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: want you to hear what he said.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: That's why there.
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: Are conversations I cannot have around Marjorie. I just can't
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: because there's some stuff I'm saying to my dudes that
- 1:01:10Speaker 8: she really don't need to hear. Because as dudes, we
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: have a certain way we talk around each other, and
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: it's acceptable and politically correct in our circle. But in
- 1:01:25Speaker 8: the general public, I could get canceled for every conversation
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: I ever have with my dudes that I grew up with,
- 1:01:35Speaker 8: because we don't have a cancelation culture. From one hundred
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: and twelfth Street, we boys, We them boys, and that's
- 1:01:43Speaker 8: how we talk. So I've gotten that out the way.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: I can't say this one I'm talking about my relationship
- 1:01:54Speaker 8: me and my friends because I can't hear. I can't
- 1:01:57Speaker 8: say he won't answer the phone in my press. He
- 1:02:00Speaker 8: badly texts around me. In the beginning of our courtship,
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: I used to be on the phone all the time,
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: and he said we had to be more intentional with
- 1:02:07Speaker 8: our time together. He used to come over to my
- 1:02:10Speaker 8: house and leave his phone in the kitchen so it
- 1:02:12Speaker 8: didn't disturb us, and I loved that about him. Past
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: few months, though, he just switched up these habits. Here
- 1:02:20Speaker 8: we go, he gets to my house, he's always on
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: the phone. He gets off soon as he pull up
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: in my driveway and I'm outside, I'd have seen it
- 1:02:28Speaker 8: with my own eyes. If you take a car while
- 1:02:30Speaker 8: we out, he'll walk away, talk on the phone, then
- 1:02:33Speaker 8: hang up for he come back to the table. We
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: and n spend a whole lot of nights together, and
- 1:02:38Speaker 8: his phone is nowhere to be found when I'm at
- 1:02:41Speaker 8: his house. That means you have looked for it, nowhere
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: to be fine, But where is this phone at? I
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: think it's outside in the truck, That's what I think
- 1:02:54Speaker 8: it is. Been out to the garage. Have you checked
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: the back of the toolbox.
- 1:03:00Speaker 10: You'll have heard two of your response coming up at
- 1:03:03Speaker 10: twenty three minutes after the hour.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Today behind the paper time.
- 1:03:07Speaker 10: Why can't he talk around me? We'll get back into
- 1:03:10Speaker 10: it right after this. You're listening Steve Harvey Morning Show.

- 1:03:47Speaker 10: Come on Steve Let's recap today's strawberry letter. The subject
- 1:03:51Speaker 10: is why can he talk around me?
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: Here's the problem with this whole letter. They have been
- 1:03:57Speaker 8: dating for two years. She says she is his fiance,
- 1:04:05Speaker 8: and why can't he talk around me?
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: Number one?
- 1:04:09Speaker 8: Because you don't need to hear what he's saying. Number two,
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: he's having conversations that you may not approve of. Number
- 1:04:20Speaker 8: three and this is the hard one for women. This
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: is number three. Ladies, it ain't your business. That's a
- 1:04:27Speaker 8: hard one. That's a hard one, hard, hard one.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: So now let's move on.
- 1:04:37Speaker 8: When he used to come over to the house, he
- 1:04:39Speaker 8: would leave his phone in the kitchen, saying, our time
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: with each other needs to be more intentional. He stopped
- 1:04:45Speaker 8: you from social media, talking on the phone and going
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: on Instagram, and you love that about him.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Well, he goes switched up.
- 1:04:51Speaker 8: Now when he come over to your house, you see
- 1:04:55Speaker 8: him on the phone, you be in the driveway, He.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Get off the phone soon as he get there.
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: Y'all spend a lot of nights together, and you can't
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: find his phone nowhere.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Something is on this phone.
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: Something is being said into the mouthpiece of his phone
- 1:05:20Speaker 8: and coming out the ear hole on this phone.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: That you cannot be privy, period.
- 1:05:30Speaker 8: So we have this letter that has a question why
- 1:05:33Speaker 8: can't he talk around Well, lady, why you think hes
- 1:05:37Speaker 8: talking on you? You say, but after two years of dating,
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: it's totally fine to be on the phone around me.
- 1:05:42Speaker 8: His mom has fussed him for not taking her calls. Now,
- 1:05:46Speaker 8: let me let me now, let's let's take that line
- 1:05:48Speaker 8: right there. His mama then fussed at him for not
- 1:05:51Speaker 8: taking her calls. Now, let's go down to the bottom
- 1:05:53Speaker 8: of the line, bottom of the house. You said, how
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: can we be married if he can't talk to his
- 1:06:02Speaker 8: friends and his family around me? Let me just put
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: it to you out here, point Blake, because he ain't
- 1:06:10Speaker 8: talking to his friends and he already don't take his
- 1:06:15Speaker 8: mama call. Who don't take that mama call? What man
- 1:06:20Speaker 8: don't take his mama's call? That's the call you got
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: to take because something could be wrong. He ain't taking
- 1:06:30Speaker 8: his mama's call. Your question is if he can't talk
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: to his friends and family around me. Well, because he
- 1:06:39Speaker 8: ain't talking to his friends and his family. Mama that
- 1:06:42Speaker 8: says she doin't He don't even take her call?
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: So who is he talking to?
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: You can't say he talking to his mama. She don't
- 1:06:47Speaker 8: take his call. I can't help this man. He talking
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: to some women. He talking to some women. And what
- 1:06:59Speaker 8: he said to this women you can't here. And when
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: his phone rang, when y'all out, he get up and
- 1:07:04Speaker 8: walk away because he taking calls from them women, trying
- 1:07:08Speaker 8: to make it like he got a regular life.
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: Now y'all fin to get married.
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: You're going to be married to a man that has
- 1:07:17Speaker 8: a lot of secret phone calls.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Hey baby, let me apes, hey, let me hit you back,
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: let me hit you back. Come busy here, she's here.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I can't talk right now. That's okay.
- 1:07:33Speaker 8: So any questions, ladies, anybody questions. I can't help this dude.
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: I can't help him. I can't help Let me ask
- 1:07:44Speaker 8: you this, Okay. It sounds like, of course he yes,
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: he is talking to other women. But why would he
- 1:07:53Speaker 8: be doing that and he's engaged? Just a basic question, why.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Would he be doing that? He's been engaged for two years?
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: What is going on?
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: Why would he be talking to another woman that he engaged?
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I just wanted just a basic question.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: Well, how else is he gonna have a chick on
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: the side.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: Answer? But you know, some people are like, dang, we're engaged.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: Why would he you know, right, why would he be.
- 1:08:25Speaker 10: Talking to someone else? They've been engaged for two years
- 1:08:29Speaker 10: and he's changed so much. I mean at first he didn't.
- 1:08:32Speaker 10: He said, let's be intentional about our relationship. Let's leave
- 1:08:36Speaker 10: our phones and now right, you know, now today, don't
- 1:08:39Speaker 10: god intentional? Or he learned all he needed to learn.
- 1:08:42Speaker 10: He needs somebody else?
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Wow?
- 1:08:46Speaker 9: Yes, Junior, h Okay, I think he talked to the
- 1:08:49Speaker 9: check on side. But can you tell us where he
- 1:08:52Speaker 9: taking all these phone calls at?
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: In his house?
- 1:08:54Speaker 9: Where's he been taking these phone calls at? Because he
- 1:08:56Speaker 9: can't talk in front of where is he? A?
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he go outside in the backyard.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: He on.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: He on the other side of the tree in the.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Backyard, so he's hiding and talking.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: He on the other side of the tree. I can't
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: see him.
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: He's just talking.
- 1:09:16Speaker 8: He done went outside, got in the car and started
- 1:09:18Speaker 8: it sitting there increasing.
- 1:09:22Speaker 7: The r p M.

- 1:14:13Speaker 10: I've been dating a woman for about four months and
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: she still lives with her ex. She swears they're completely done,
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: but she says neither of them can't afford to move
- 1:14:23Speaker 10: out yet.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: What bothers me is that she hasn't told him about me.
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: She says she just doesn't want to make things any
- 1:14:31Speaker 10: more awkward than they already are. He says, I've even
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: thought about asking her to move in with me, but
- 1:14:38Speaker 10: my friend and says she's using me and that they're
- 1:14:42Speaker 10: probably not really over. I want to believe her, but
- 1:14:45Speaker 10: am I being naive?
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Look?
- 1:14:49Speaker 8: Bro, if your girlfriend still lives with her ex, yeah,
- 1:14:57Speaker 8: that's y'all's girlfree. Yeah, yeah, that's not that's not that

- 1:15:10Speaker 2: They're sharing the fact that she has not told him
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: about you.
- 1:15:18Speaker 8: It's how I know it's still that's y'all's girlfriend, because
- 1:15:23Speaker 8: if he don't know about you, you're trying to tell
- 1:15:26Speaker 8: me he ain't sleeping with her.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: Were in here, Yeah, we're in here. We've been sleeping together.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Now all of a sudden we ain't. Why why now
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: you think about asking her to move in with you?
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: That you can't do nothing?
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: No dumber than that, don't do it?
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: Hey, bro, why don't you go get a woman that
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: don't live with another man?
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: Wow?
- 1:15:59Speaker 8: That's raised And it's a lot of them out there,

- 1:17:44Speaker 8: you're dating another man, you sleeping with you telling this man,
- 1:17:49Speaker 8: you ain't gonna tell your old boyfriend about him, because

- 1:17:58Speaker 2: a pole mindset.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but instead he wants her to move in with him.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: That's stupid though.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Really so when she started packing up to leave, what
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: is she gonna take? And the dude, no, she ain't

- 1:25:27Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 1:25:29Speaker 8: I would like to my close remarks is just a
- 1:25:31Speaker 8: letter just about thankfulness and gratitude. First of all, to
- 1:25:35Speaker 8: a young kid that works for me out in La
- 1:25:39Speaker 8: named Jason. Do I know his last name?
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: Of course not. I have no idea what his last
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: name is.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Okay, okay, but he's.
- 1:25:49Speaker 8: So talented with videos and editing and cutting and putting
- 1:25:54Speaker 8: together social media content. All my team put together. Him
- 1:25:59Speaker 8: and Christelle put together a tribute to my anniversary, which
- 1:26:03Speaker 8: was October eighth, nineteen eighty five. October eighth, nineteen eighty five,
- 1:26:09Speaker 8: I walked into Hilarities comedy Club. I won fifty dollars.
- 1:26:14Speaker 8: I went to work the next day, October ninth, and
- 1:26:18Speaker 8: quit my job and made the announcement to my family
- 1:26:21Speaker 8: and friends. I was gonna go be a stand up comedian.
- 1:26:27Speaker 8: I had complete and other pushback. Absolutely no one agreed
- 1:26:33Speaker 8: with me. Two people agreed with me. The most important
- 1:26:37Speaker 8: was my father. My father said, boy, if you think
- 1:26:40Speaker 8: you can make it, gone get out there and get discuffling.
- 1:26:42Speaker 8: That was his exact quote. Slick Harvey said, gone and
- 1:26:46Speaker 8: get out there and get discoffling. Because if I could
- 1:26:48Speaker 8: have done my life over, I'd have done something like that.
- 1:26:51Speaker 8: You only little wants gone take a crack at it.
- 1:26:54Speaker 8: My mother disagreed. You got a family, you got them kids,
- 1:26:59Speaker 8: you got a job, keep making that check, take care
- 1:27:02Speaker 8: of your family. Only other person supported me was his
- 1:27:05Speaker 8: brother from Cleveland named Russell Middlebrooks. Russell said, yeah, go
- 1:27:10Speaker 8: for it, man, you funny.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: It held me. Then my other friend said, well, he
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: gonna need more than you to think he funny if
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: he gonna make it. So that was my entry level
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: forty years ago. By the grace of God, I made it.
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: Now I was looking at this montage they've created for
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: me that's starting to go around a lot of people.
- 1:27:35Speaker 8: Kirk Franklin texted me yesterday and said number forty goat.
- 1:27:42Speaker 8: He said, thanks, uncle. So it's people are starting to
- 1:27:45Speaker 8: see this montage. But I was sitting there and the
- 1:27:48Speaker 8: montage made me cry because I forgot so much of
- 1:27:51Speaker 8: this stuff because a lot of this stuff was long
- 1:27:55Speaker 8: before phone cameras existed. You know, people just found food
- 1:28:00Speaker 8: Man of Me at the improv me my first night
- 1:28:04Speaker 8: on showtime at the Apollo. That was my very first time.
- 1:28:07Speaker 8: That was the eye joke. All of that, everything stemed
- 1:28:12Speaker 8: from so many things, and I was just looking at it.
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: But I thought about what made me emotional was see,
- 1:28:20Speaker 8: I know the backstory behind all those pictures that kept
- 1:28:23Speaker 8: coming up. I know exactly where I was at that
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: particular moment, and a lot of those moments I was
- 1:28:29Speaker 8: having on stage. It was some dog stuff going on
- 1:28:32Speaker 8: in my life behind the scenes that nobody knew about.
- 1:28:35Speaker 8: It was some life changing decisions that I had to
- 1:28:38Speaker 8: make behind the scenes that nobody knew nothing about. It
- 1:28:42Speaker 8: was some decisions that I had made that hurt myself
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: and some people along the way that nobody knew about.
- 1:28:52Speaker 8: And it led me to understand something else about God.
- 1:28:56Speaker 8: When you ask God for something, he'll give it to you.
- 1:29:00Speaker 8: He will not reveal to you the cost. Because if
- 1:29:04Speaker 8: God had shown me everything I would have had to
- 1:29:09Speaker 8: have gone through to get to where I am today,
- 1:29:12Speaker 8: I would have changed my request because I just wouldn't
- 1:29:16Speaker 8: have had it in me to say, Okay, I'm willing
- 1:29:19Speaker 8: to do that. I'm willing to do this. So he
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: just honest the request. He don't show you the requirements.
- 1:29:25Speaker 8: But it's those requirements that cost people they dreams. So
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: I'm saying all this to say this to anybody that's
- 1:29:32Speaker 8: trying to accomplish forty years of anything, or twenty or
- 1:29:35Speaker 8: get to ten. Don't give up, no matter what happens.
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: Don't give up. Don't you dare give up.
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: Don't quit. If you quit, you'll never know what God
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: had in store for you.
- 1:29:52Speaker 8: But if you can manage to hang in there, if
- 1:29:55Speaker 8: you can manage to keep putting one foot in front
- 1:29:58Speaker 8: of the next, if you can keep get to your
- 1:30:01Speaker 8: house and lock that door at night and cry about it,
- 1:30:05Speaker 8: pray about it, take a shower, rest, sleep on it,
- 1:30:10Speaker 8: do whatever you gotta do, and by the grace of God,
- 1:30:12Speaker 8: he wakes you up in the morning, that's a sign
- 1:30:14Speaker 8: from Him that he ain't through with you yet. So
- 1:30:17Speaker 8: just try to get one foot in front of the other.
- 1:30:21Speaker 8: Sometimes you can't even get the other foot in front
- 1:30:23Speaker 8: of the other. Sometimes you just got to be steal. Sometimes, man,
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: it's going so dark for you. You don't know what
- 1:30:31Speaker 8: step to take.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: Just be steal.
- 1:30:34Speaker 8: Sit there, whisper his name, hold yourself, rock back and forth.
- 1:30:41Speaker 8: I had a many nights in that car, a many
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: nights and days in that car when I just held
- 1:30:47Speaker 8: myself and I was rocking back and forth, tears coming
- 1:30:51Speaker 8: down my face. Man didn't know what to do. I
- 1:30:55Speaker 8: just said, Lord, if you wake me up in the morning,
- 1:30:57Speaker 8: I just keep on trying. And I just the grace
- 1:31:00Speaker 8: of God, I kept trying. I will give myself credit
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: for one thing. I just never gave up. That's the
- 1:31:08Speaker 8: only credit I can give myself. I just never ever
- 1:31:12Speaker 8: gave up. I somehow kept the faith. I relied on
- 1:31:19Speaker 8: Bible verses, scriptures. My mama was sending me. I just
- 1:31:22Speaker 8: never gave up. You do your part, He'll do his,
- 1:31:27Speaker 8: But you cannot quit. I don't care what happens. Don't
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: you dare give up. Those are my closing remarks today.
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: Thank you all for forty years of support. Some of
