- 1:37Speaker 1: decision makers can be people on HR. People who influences
- 1:43Speaker 1: could be social media, be bankers, These people who can
- 1:48Speaker 1: cause you to think differently, how they've turned brands and
- 1:54Speaker 1: investments into opportunities that have made been a benefit to
- 1:57Speaker 1: their lives. When I talk about these people, I talk
- 2:01Speaker 1: about it from the standpoint because I don't know. I
- 2:03Speaker 1: will never tell you I know everything. I will tell
- 2:05Speaker 1: you the things I do know. I will act like

- 2:22Speaker 1: stories and in turn promote the values that are making
- 2:25Speaker 1: them successful in their brand. And as they climbed to
- 2:29Speaker 1: the top, I don't let them go. I want them
- 2:31Speaker 1: to stay in my life. I want to let them
- 2:32Speaker 1: know that this was not a one off. That's what
- 2:34Speaker 1: you call a relationship. Relationships are the key to long
- 2:38Speaker 1: term success. But next guest is an inner fitness strategist
- 2:42Speaker 1: and coach. She's committed to sharing the nitty gritty aspects

- 2:58Speaker 1: and pain and you transform into self confidence and personal power.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Please work with the Money Making Conversation tena Liforida. Hey Rashon,
- 3:12Speaker 1: how are you? I'm doing great? Now? Where you right now?
- 3:16Speaker 1: My friend? I am in Vancouver, Canada working on a
- 3:21Speaker 1: film and uh, I have been away from my home
- 3:25Speaker 1: now for almost six months. I did the first five
- 3:29Speaker 1: months in New Orleans where we shoot um clean Sugar,
- 3:34Speaker 1: and then I was home for two weeks before I
- 3:37Speaker 1: came to Vancouver to shoot this um this movie that
- 3:43Speaker 1: I'm doing this sequel. Well, we know that you know
- 3:45Speaker 1: that you you on the screen, You're recognizable phase, being
- 3:49Speaker 1: a recognizable phase? Does that what advantages does that have?
- 3:53Speaker 1: And are there any disadvantages to what you're trying to
- 3:56Speaker 1: do with your life? Now? You know? Um, I believe
- 4:01Speaker 1: that much of how we experienced life uh starts on
- 4:07Speaker 1: the inside. And so I actually am in a rather
- 4:13Speaker 1: a rather great position as an actress, even though I'm
- 4:17Speaker 1: on a hit show. Queen Sugar has quite a lot
- 4:22Speaker 1: of fans. But aunt Vy and I actually look different.
- 4:27Speaker 1: You know. Aunt Vy is um um she she she,
- 4:33Speaker 1: we look different. So when I'm in the airport, I
- 4:37Speaker 1: don't get the same sort of of attention that the
- 4:41Speaker 1: guys get, uh and and I like that. But let
- 4:48Speaker 1: me also say very clearly, it is because of fans
- 4:53Speaker 1: and an opportunity like aunt Vy that my other passions,
- 5:00Speaker 1: entrepreneurial pursuits are supported. So I am good with, you know,
- 5:07Speaker 1: connecting with fans and making sure that I am thankful
- 5:13Speaker 1: for this opportunity that I am experienced because it's helping
- 5:17Speaker 1: me to not just fulfill my passion my other passions,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it's also helped me to build out my platform right
- 5:25Speaker 1: now that I want to And that's what we brought
- 5:27Speaker 1: her to talk about your other passion. But before we
- 5:30Speaker 1: move off of coueen Sugar, you know you are working
- 5:35Speaker 1: with associated with with two of the more powerful females,
- 5:40Speaker 1: not just in Hollywood, I think in just social social circles.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That's Oprah Winfrey and Ava Duvenai. Absolutely, um Oprah has
- 5:51Speaker 1: transformed the game, not just for African American women with
- 5:55Speaker 1: women in period, becoming a billionaire, becoming an entrepreneur. Um
- 6:00Speaker 1: she was to talk to your hosts and she she
- 6:02Speaker 1: understood how to use the media to bill brands and
- 6:07Speaker 1: Able duven A who Netflix series has grown at a more.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It was the most watch Netflix series in the history
- 6:17Speaker 1: of Netflix. And I think when they see Us has
- 6:21Speaker 1: been nominated for sixteen Absolutely that's how powerful that series is.
- 6:31Speaker 1: So if people haven't seen it, they really need to
- 6:34Speaker 1: tune into Netflix to see when they see us, Tina,
- 6:37Speaker 1: I can't tell you who I voted for, but I
- 6:40Speaker 1: am a Emmy voter, and uh I knew about that sixteen,
- 6:44Speaker 1: So I kind of like got to back off a
- 6:46Speaker 1: little bit on all that nomination talk because I don't
- 6:49Speaker 1: want to lose my voting privileges. Well, I don't mind
- 6:55Speaker 1: saying who iver, there you go if you if you
- 7:01Speaker 1: watch UH when they see us, you will experience the
- 7:07Speaker 1: power of television, the power of of film and media.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And I think that Ava is telling UH stories about
- 7:19Speaker 1: our communities in ways that UH not just deserve this
- 7:26Speaker 1: kind of recognition because she is a consummate filmmaker, but
- 7:31Speaker 1: also you know, it is very important to our dreams,
- 7:36Speaker 1: to our ideas of what we can achieve in this world,
- 7:40Speaker 1: to be able to see ourselves, to see ourselves in
- 7:44Speaker 1: all the iterations that represent us. And so I applaud
- 7:49Speaker 1: that um in Ava's work as much as I applaud
- 7:54Speaker 1: her consummate filmmaking abilities. So what is your takeaway when
- 8:00Speaker 1: you when I mentioned Nate, when I say open win free,
- 8:02Speaker 1: What is your takeaway when I say open win? My
- 8:07Speaker 1: takeaway is committed UM. I think that that Oprah understands
- 8:16Speaker 1: who she is and the game. And I think that
- 8:19Speaker 1: she understood that coming in long before she had the
- 8:25Speaker 1: power that she has now. She was constantly I'm guessing
- 8:31Speaker 1: because I don't know. I've been in Oprah's company just
- 8:35Speaker 1: four times. But I believe that she is a person
- 8:41Speaker 1: who's constantly refining who she is, and she comes to
- 8:48Speaker 1: the table being smart enough two also leverage these the
- 8:57Speaker 1: intelligence uh no, how and wherewithal of others. And I
- 9:03Speaker 1: think that that's really really a key component in leadership
- 9:10Speaker 1: and success, being able to um surround yourself with the
- 9:16Speaker 1: right people and being able to leverage and quickly leverage
- 9:21Speaker 1: um talent and great ideas. That's amazing because I feel
- 9:27Speaker 1: I have been around him more than four times and
- 9:31Speaker 1: fortunately to be able to um sit in the room
- 9:35Speaker 1: and listen to her talk when I but I have
- 9:38Speaker 1: not been around Ava Duvenat, so I've only been able
- 9:42Speaker 1: to hear her talk from afar watch her work. What
- 9:46Speaker 1: is it like being around such a talented I would
- 9:49Speaker 1: have to say visionary. Who she is a visionary, no
- 9:54Speaker 1: question about it. She is a visionary and um Ava
- 9:58Speaker 1: has one of the sharpest minds I have encountered. So
- 10:04Speaker 1: tell us about this interfitness All the beauty tour is
- 10:08Speaker 1: coming to Atlanta at the Riverside. Yeah, Well, I'm so
- 10:14Speaker 1: excited about the Atlanta date Um we've been doing this
- 10:20Speaker 1: the tour. Atlanta is our fourth stop and Um in
- 10:25Speaker 1: a nutshell, the Interfitness Outer Beauty Tour is about disrupting
- 10:30Speaker 1: the old patterns in your life, just disrupting everything in
- 10:35Speaker 1: a fun, interactive, uplifting, transformational kind of way. It is
- 10:43Speaker 1: about realizing that the status quo, no matter how it
- 10:48Speaker 1: shows up is is part of the problem. When we
- 10:54Speaker 1: live our lives today the same way we lived them yesterday,
- 11:00Speaker 1: we are building a grave for ourselves. We are putting
- 11:05Speaker 1: ourselves in a box that doesn't have enough light in it.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And so the Inner Fitness Outer Beauty Tour gives us
- 11:17Speaker 1: an opportunity to talk about experience what it means to
- 11:23Speaker 1: disrupt unhappiness and literally we are going to right there,
- 11:28Speaker 1: you know, within the time a lot it, We're going
- 11:32Speaker 1: to experience ways of being able to just lift your
- 11:37Speaker 1: spirit in your mood and have a higher idea of yourself,
- 11:43Speaker 1: set an intention for your life about what's possible and
- 11:47Speaker 1: then no ways um learn ways to like get back
- 11:52Speaker 1: to that intention over and over again. And then we
- 11:55Speaker 1: are going to disrupt this whole concept of own sex
- 12:00Speaker 1: and sexuality. There's so much misinformation out here about sex,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and there is so much good to be found in
- 12:11Speaker 1: our sexuality. So we're going to examine and explore what
- 12:16Speaker 1: it means to live a juicy life and and that's
- 12:20Speaker 1: not what you think you know, um, and then we
- 12:23Speaker 1: are going to learn away one powerful technique from um
- 12:30Speaker 1: a yoga instructor by the name of on a Hawk.
- 12:33Speaker 1: You don't need to bring a mat because we're gonna
- 12:35Speaker 1: be sitting in this beautiful at the center. But any time,
- 12:40Speaker 1: whether you're driving, you're at work, you know, you're standing
- 12:44Speaker 1: in the shower, you'll be able to um employ some
- 12:49Speaker 1: of the information that owner is gonna share so that
- 12:51Speaker 1: you can re center yourself, you know, and breathe in
- 12:56Speaker 1: a way that will less in stress and move you
- 13:00Speaker 1: to a place where you are more open. And when
- 13:03Speaker 1: we are more open, there is a greater sense and
- 13:07Speaker 1: uh uh and um, opportunity for hope and possibility to emerge.
- 13:14Speaker 1: And hope and possibility are powerful actions that we take
- 13:21Speaker 1: in in designing and moving our lives towards the experience
- 13:27Speaker 1: that we most want. Inter fitness, all of beauty. Not
- 13:30Speaker 1: only will you walk away uplifted, but you walk away
- 13:33Speaker 1: a better person. Tina, thank you for coming on my show,
- 13:35Speaker 1: Money Making Conversations. Thank you so much for having me.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I'll be back. I know you will, and I appreciate you.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Restrictions may apply, Plans and cost of coverage may very
- 13:47Speaker 1: Call Protected my Car for details. In these hard economic times,
- 13:50Speaker 1: you've got to do whatever you can to save money.
- 13:52Speaker 1: One of our biggest expenses can be our cars, especially
- 13:55Speaker 1: when unexpected repair bills here not anymore. If you do
- 13:58Speaker 1: own a car trucker suv made from Higher, you could
- 14:02Speaker 1: stop paying for Kyle repairs. That's right, you might not
- 14:05Speaker 1: have to pay a penny to have it repaired. Just
- 14:07Speaker 1: styal Star Star one seven on your mobile phone now
- 14:10Speaker 1: to see if you qualify. You must have an automobile
- 14:12Speaker 1: made from Higher and all repairs for your engine, transmission
- 14:16Speaker 1: and much more can become a thing of the past.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Dial Star Star on seven on your mobile phone today
- 14:22Speaker 1: and get your car protected before your next repair bill hits.

- 14:34Speaker 1: Star Star on seven. Never pay for Kyle repairs again.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Just dial Star Star one seven on your mobile phone.
- 14:42Speaker 1: Now dial Star Star one one four seven. Ah, this
- 14:46Speaker 1: was Sean McDonald. You listened to money making conversation moneumatic conversation.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'll bring CEOs, actors, entertainers, entrepreneurs, small business owners on
- 14:55Speaker 1: my shoulders, allow them to share nuggets of success mistakes,
- 15:00Speaker 1: because we need to know about the mistakes to be
- 15:02Speaker 1: successful in life. The one thing that I've discovered and
- 15:05Speaker 1: doing this show is that when people come on the show,
- 15:07Speaker 1: when they start sharing their stories about whether it's a
- 15:10Speaker 1: movie or the complimentity, a business opportunity, they always they're
- 15:15Speaker 1: honest about how they got there, because this is not magic.
- 15:19Speaker 1: You know, success is not magic. And a lot of
- 15:22Speaker 1: times when you see things, you all see the end results.
- 15:24Speaker 1: You always see the end results of the big house,
- 15:26Speaker 1: or the big car, or the or the fancy meal,
- 15:29Speaker 1: and sometimes you're still maintaining. I always tell people that
- 15:33Speaker 1: I'm working wealthy. I always tell people that I'm working well.
- 15:36Speaker 1: If I stopped working, the wealth stops. Okay. I am
- 15:40Speaker 1: not tied to the Hiltons. I'm not tied to to
- 15:44Speaker 1: anybody famous. If I gotta work to maintain a little
- 15:47Speaker 1: wealth that I got, and guess what a lot of
- 15:50Speaker 1: Americans are doing that, and so you need to understand
- 15:52Speaker 1: their different roles. So if you win something or you
- 15:55Speaker 1: get something successful, to maintain it. To maintain that lifestyle
- 15:58Speaker 1: is tied to you can annually doing what you did
- 16:02Speaker 1: to get there. And that's what money Making Conversations is
- 16:04Speaker 1: all about. My next my next guess is on the phone. Uh.
- 16:08Speaker 1: It's the summer of four and this season three of Snowfall,
- 16:12Speaker 1: crack cocaine is spreading like wildfire through south central Los Angeles,
- 16:16Speaker 1: continuing this path of destruction and changing the culture forever.
- 16:20Speaker 1: My next guest is making his mark in Hollywood as
- 16:24Speaker 1: the lead patriarch Jerome Sank in FX hit Serious Snowfall.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Please Welcome to Money Making Conversation. Aimon Joseph. Hey, hey, brother,
- 16:37Speaker 1: my man, so so so you're in Los Angeles right now,
- 16:39Speaker 1: but your your East Coast boar right, yeah, yeah, I'm
- 16:43Speaker 1: actually from Hall of New York. I was born in Queens.
- 16:46Speaker 1: I grew up raising Ham. Now now are you the
- 16:52Speaker 1: Are you a new Hall m guy? Because you know,
- 16:54Speaker 1: are your old Hall Of guy? Because back in the
- 16:56Speaker 1: day when they wouldn't pick us up and take us
- 16:58Speaker 1: up north in New York because I was moved to
- 17:00Speaker 1: New York and now moved in New York. So if
- 17:03Speaker 1: he was in Lord east Side, you try to take
- 17:05Speaker 1: a cab who no, wh Yeah, yeah, I know all
- 17:10Speaker 1: about that. I was, you know, I grew up in
- 17:14Speaker 1: harm through the Cotch era, the Sinkings era, the Juliani era,
- 17:21Speaker 1: Bloomberg era. It wasn't really into the the Blasio whatever
- 17:26Speaker 1: that you could catch a cab. You know, now you can.
- 17:28Speaker 1: You can catch a cab downtown. They will actually stop
- 17:31Speaker 1: for you, which is which is remarkable because you know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: growing up we used to have to take African livery
- 17:39Speaker 1: cast but not yeah, because those were the only ones
- 17:42Speaker 1: that would would stop for us, which was actually okay
- 17:45Speaker 1: because you know, it was like you know, helping out brothers.
- 17:49Speaker 1: It was you know, I mean it was like, all right,
- 17:50Speaker 1: they ain't picking us up. Then we have our own
- 17:52Speaker 1: cab services, and that money was circulating within the community.
- 17:56Speaker 1: A good Yeah. I think I wanted to talk about that,
- 17:59Speaker 1: you know, you know, because because when I wasn't living
- 18:02Speaker 1: in New York. And it's really I'm telling you, what
- 18:04Speaker 1: really changed the game was Uber. Uber changed the game
- 18:08Speaker 1: for how we were getting picked up. I mean consistently
- 18:12Speaker 1: because they got so competitive that they just wanted to
- 18:16Speaker 1: pick up anybody anywhere. Because you go to New York
- 18:18Speaker 1: right now, it does not look like especially at the
- 18:20Speaker 1: Hall of Area, does not look like the Hall of
- 18:22Speaker 1: that for sure, and and and and and not at all.
- 18:26Speaker 1: It's really interesting. So but guess what's still there? The
- 18:29Speaker 1: Apollo is still there. Oh man, that's where I grew up,
- 18:33Speaker 1: Pollo Theater. So tell us about that, because I always
- 18:36Speaker 1: because the average person is born and dreams of made.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Oh look he got the speech, he got speech. I
- 18:42Speaker 1: used to listen. I used to. I used to growing
- 18:45Speaker 1: up at the Apollo. I've done everything there from ussher
- 18:50Speaker 1: to patch lights, to be to uh you know, run
- 18:54Speaker 1: uh do a little assistant work, clerical work, and all
- 18:57Speaker 1: type of stuff there. Remember, I used to the door
- 19:00Speaker 1: on amateur Night would be every Wednesday, UM, seven pm.
- 19:06Speaker 1: There's an amateur night. UM that's been going on since
- 19:09Speaker 1: the nineteen forties. And I would open the door. I
- 19:13Speaker 1: would have my little boat tie on, a little tuxedo shirt,
- 19:16Speaker 1: my black pants starts and everything with the shiny black
- 19:20Speaker 1: shoe and I would open the door and I open
- 19:23Speaker 1: it up and I say welcome, to the Apollo of
- 19:25Speaker 1: the Bond and Legends of Me. That was my little
- 19:29Speaker 1: I had to say that thing about a thousand towns
- 19:31Speaker 1: of the night, bro. But you know, but it seems
- 19:33Speaker 1: like that's the this is what you wanted to do.
- 19:36Speaker 1: You know, I would tell you about degrees in mathematics.
- 19:38Speaker 1: So I eventually became a stand up comedian and then
- 19:41Speaker 1: became a sitcom writer, and I started managing talent. And
- 19:44Speaker 1: now I'm just I'm a talent myself now a personality,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I won't say, as well as an entrepreneur. So tell
- 19:51Speaker 1: me about the fact that he is a young African
- 19:53Speaker 1: American and you see this bigger than life theater, like
- 19:57Speaker 1: you said, since the forties, you know, from everybody, every
- 20:00Speaker 1: Legends played there. Even Steve Harvey holsted that many years
- 20:04Speaker 1: and really launched his career from Showtime All the Apollo.
- 20:08Speaker 1: The show Time at Apollo was the TV show that
- 20:10Speaker 1: he launched his career. How important to that that building
- 20:14Speaker 1: or that culture play in your life today? Well, um,
- 20:19Speaker 1: to me, you know, of course, it's my backyard. I'm
- 20:23Speaker 1: I'm you know, I'm a hometown kid. But I honestly
- 20:26Speaker 1: think that the Apollo Theater as an epicenter for Black
- 20:29Speaker 1: entertainment in the world. If you look at the if
- 20:33Speaker 1: you look at the legacy the um, you know everyone
- 20:37Speaker 1: from Percy Sutton um too too, like you said, uh,
- 20:44Speaker 1: Steve Harvey to to Monique too. I've seen Corn performed there,
- 20:49Speaker 1: the late Michael Jackson Um, Diana Ross Um, the Temptations.
- 20:57Speaker 1: As a little as a little kid fourteen years old,
- 21:00Speaker 1: would see these legendary performances Patti LaBelle and then also
- 21:05Speaker 1: the stage performances, the plays that would come up there,
- 21:08Speaker 1: George C. Wolf ringing Harlow there, and you know, like
- 21:11Speaker 1: I said, even Bill Clinton playing his saxophone on the
- 21:14Speaker 1: Apollo stage. Seeing all of the politicians like uh, Charlie
- 21:21Speaker 1: Rangle and and and Al Sharpton and and seeing drives
- 21:25Speaker 1: for the community when our legends like James Brown died
- 21:31Speaker 1: to see his funeral procession come down a hundred and
- 21:35Speaker 1: twenty fifth Street and stop pay respect that the Apollo
- 21:38Speaker 1: Theater Um, it's just a lot of legacy. It's a
- 21:41Speaker 1: lot of hallam there. I feel like it's um, that's
- 21:45Speaker 1: what's in me, you know what I mean, Like I'm
- 21:47Speaker 1: I um, Yeah, it's just a part of my upbringing.
- 21:51Speaker 1: It's like second nature. I seed. You know, so many
- 21:55Speaker 1: people perform there, so many nights looking at the being
- 21:59Speaker 1: back an age or being way up in the balconies
- 22:02Speaker 1: and watching and one day thinking that I would be
- 22:05Speaker 1: able to to grace that stage and be a performer
- 22:09Speaker 1: that I am now. Um it started from me being
- 22:11Speaker 1: a little kid thirteen years old working there. That's awesome,
- 22:14Speaker 1: that's AWESO. We're speaking to uh Aimon Joseph, one of
- 22:17Speaker 1: the stars of the series Snowfall. Let's talk about this story.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You know when I when I go back to series
- 22:26Speaker 1: that it's really interesting when you talk about uh, cocaine
- 22:31Speaker 1: or crack or drug, drug movies or series. The series
- 22:37Speaker 1: that stands out was New Jack City with whether that came,
- 22:42Speaker 1: that came blew me away? Uh, what's this knife? Should
- 22:46Speaker 1: have been nominated for an Oscar based on his Nino
- 22:48Speaker 1: Brown character, and then then it was just then. But
- 22:53Speaker 1: but this Snowfall has that same Uh. You know, you
- 22:57Speaker 1: know you're doing something bad, you know it's not good,
- 22:59Speaker 1: but you the characters are so developed that you that
- 23:03Speaker 1: you feel a support system as a viewer for the characters.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Tell us about that, because you know what I'm saying
- 23:09Speaker 1: because we can watch these you know, like Godfather movies,
- 23:12Speaker 1: and we can root for you know, all them, and
- 23:14Speaker 1: they go, wow, but you know, these are these are
- 23:17Speaker 1: bad people, but we fall in love with the actors
- 23:20Speaker 1: that were stylized and and and so when I watched
- 23:24Speaker 1: so Far As, I were wild, they're they're actually accomplishingly.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And when I say that, that's why I bring up
- 23:28Speaker 1: New Jack City. And New Jack City was man. Every
- 23:31Speaker 1: character was so clearly define and and and you rooted
- 23:35Speaker 1: for him and you and you knew they were denounced
- 23:37Speaker 1: their behavior, but you went, wow, that was really good.
- 23:40Speaker 1: The takeaway from that are you getting Are you receiving
- 23:43Speaker 1: that same response from the character that you're playing and
- 23:46Speaker 1: the other characters on the series. Yeah, that's a very layered,
- 23:53Speaker 1: layered question, because you do have the There is a
- 24:00Speaker 1: part of the glorification of the of the of the
- 24:03Speaker 1: drug dealer, all the villain period um. A big part
- 24:08Speaker 1: of escapism and entertainment is living out fantasies that you
- 24:14Speaker 1: would not do in real life. And a lot of
- 24:16Speaker 1: times that comes from the villain, the person that is
- 24:20Speaker 1: selling drugs or the person that has some maniacal scheme
- 24:24Speaker 1: of being filthy rich and um, not living up to
- 24:28Speaker 1: the consequences that we would in everyday life and the
- 24:32Speaker 1: social responsibility, the conscience. UM. So yeah, I I understand
- 24:40Speaker 1: how an audience can get wrapped up in to a
- 24:43Speaker 1: glorification of these type of of these type of characters.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But then I also think that what good writers and
- 24:52Speaker 1: good storytellers do is you try to bring a humanity,
- 24:56Speaker 1: um that isn't just about toting a gun and wearing
- 24:59Speaker 1: big pins, are having you know a lot of uh
- 25:04Speaker 1: sex and cars, and you know that you look at
- 25:10Speaker 1: the the trajectory of people of a family that for
- 25:16Speaker 1: their own individual reasons and collectively they embark on selling
- 25:22Speaker 1: drugs as a family business. But it's a family and
- 25:26Speaker 1: we all relate to family. So I think that that's
- 25:29Speaker 1: the way that the writers, definitely with Snowfall, have have
- 25:35Speaker 1: sort of made the audience endeared to these characters because
- 25:40Speaker 1: it is a family. We see them eat as a
- 25:43Speaker 1: family unit, we see them take care of each other,
- 25:45Speaker 1: we see them responsible for each other's well being. And
- 25:50Speaker 1: I think that that's the kind of thing that put
- 25:52Speaker 1: you at odds with oh my god, they're doing something bad,
- 25:56Speaker 1: But I root for them because I know somewhere inside
- 25:59Speaker 1: them intrinsically there is good. I love talking to you man.
- 26:03Speaker 1: You're also been talking to Amon Joseph, one of the
- 26:05Speaker 1: stars of the FX series. Uh Snowfalls. Uh hume a favor?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Can you come back on my show? God, I know
- 26:11Speaker 1: you've got other projects you're working on, but I was

- 28:28Speaker 1: of the best selling book The Path to Wealth and
- 28:31Speaker 1: her latest book that we will be talking about on
- 28:33Speaker 1: the show today, the Gratitude Formula, a seven steps success
- 28:36Speaker 1: system to create a life that you love. Please, welcome
- 28:39Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversation. Made McCarthy. Oh, thank you so
- 28:45Speaker 1: much for having me on. Well, thank you for being
- 28:48Speaker 1: on my show, and thank you for allowing me getting
- 28:50Speaker 1: that book to me, allowing me to an opportunity to
- 28:53Speaker 1: read it. But before we get started out, you know,
- 28:55Speaker 1: I'm a nosy guy. I'd like to know more about
- 28:58Speaker 1: individuals and I see that I want to I'll see
- 29:00Speaker 1: that you have a retreat coming up in January? Is
- 29:03Speaker 1: that correct? I do. It's an Intentions retreat. Okay to January,
- 29:11Speaker 1: which is next year a Unity Village, Unity Village, Missouri.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Tell us about that mate retreat and what the purpose
- 29:17Speaker 1: of a retreat that you put on. Well, you know,
- 29:21Speaker 1: I loved your introduction because you were, um, you know,
- 29:25Speaker 1: really hitting at home that you have to plan in
- 29:28Speaker 1: order to be successful. You have to know it what
- 29:31Speaker 1: you want and you have to make a plan. If
- 29:35Speaker 1: you don't plan and have some sort of vision on
- 29:39Speaker 1: where you want to go, you're just like a boat
- 29:42Speaker 1: without a rudder. You're just gonna address. So what we
- 29:46Speaker 1: do in an intentions retreat is we really uncover what
- 29:51Speaker 1: was good and what did you not feel was so
- 29:54Speaker 1: good for the previous year, and we let those things go.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Then we make a real plan for what is going
- 30:01Speaker 1: to look like. I want to get a vision from
- 30:04Speaker 1: each and every person, um so that if they got
- 30:08Speaker 1: to December one and they turned around and looked at
- 30:13Speaker 1: what their year produced, I want to know what they
- 30:16Speaker 1: hope to see. Then what we do is we get
- 30:20Speaker 1: that down on paper, We get that down in in
- 30:23Speaker 1: powerful word statements. We get that down in a daily
- 30:26Speaker 1: practice of reviewing those goals regularly and also making sure
- 30:32Speaker 1: that they're calm enough to recognize what Bill Gates, Steve Jobs,
- 30:38Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey, Albert Einstein, and I use, which is something
- 30:42Speaker 1: that because you can't see it, I call it spiritual,
- 30:45Speaker 1: but it's intuition. It's that gut instinct and those subconscious
- 30:49Speaker 1: messages that are going to show up and point the
- 30:52Speaker 1: direction for us to take action on a path to
- 30:56Speaker 1: achieve those goals. So it's a lot of work. We're
- 31:00Speaker 1: going to go deep. It's very empowerful, empowering, and very
- 31:03Speaker 1: very fun. It's at Unity Village, which is just about
- 31:07Speaker 1: thirty five miles away from Kansas City Airport, right and
- 31:11Speaker 1: can't see the airport is right by the hundred miles
- 31:13Speaker 1: and we can can't sit that is the airport is
- 31:19Speaker 1: so far away from cans like, wow, man, I mean
- 31:21Speaker 1: another state, but it does feel that way. It does
- 31:25Speaker 1: feel like can I go there as a long ride?
- 31:27Speaker 1: Just preparing my my, my, my, my listeners, if they go,
- 31:30Speaker 1: they landed, they land the airport, it's gonna be a ride.
- 31:32Speaker 1: It's gonna be a ride, and it's all good because
- 31:35Speaker 1: they're going there for an event that now this I'm
- 31:37Speaker 1: assuming by what you're speaking there's an annual event. Well,
- 31:43Speaker 1: this will be the first time that we do the
- 31:44Speaker 1: Unity Village. If we've done it up in the Blue
- 31:47Speaker 1: Ridge Mountains, you know, something like it up in the
- 31:50Speaker 1: Blue Ridge Mountain, Carolina, and you try to put it
- 31:54Speaker 1: in a location in the northwest. But this will be
- 31:58Speaker 1: the first time that we do it in Unity Village,
- 32:00Speaker 1: and I'm so excited. It can be great great. So
- 32:03Speaker 1: where are you based at me. I'm I'm based in Texas,
- 32:08Speaker 1: and so when I was listening to the weather report
- 32:11Speaker 1: right before you came on, I was thinking, Wow, that
- 32:13Speaker 1: ninety four degrees sounds great. We've had a hundred degrees
- 32:17Speaker 1: where I live. Oh, well, you know, I live in Atlanta.
- 32:20Speaker 1: I was just in Houston this past weekend and we
- 32:22Speaker 1: were dealing with ninety six in Houston this past weekend, so,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you know, across the time. And my vacation home, which
- 32:29Speaker 1: is where we're at now is on Lake Conro, not
- 32:31Speaker 1: very far from Houston. Absolutely, May and I just getting together.
- 32:35Speaker 1: We on that same energy path. That's why she's on
- 32:38Speaker 1: the show. And now when I when I was now,
- 32:40Speaker 1: let's talk about this title. The name of your business
- 32:43Speaker 1: be as Easy you all t Z Results. Where did
- 32:48Speaker 1: that come from? Well, that's the what we do is
- 32:51Speaker 1: we accelerate business results. So it's a play on business results.
- 32:57Speaker 1: And that particular company has a number of different arms.
- 33:02Speaker 1: The first is speaking and teaching around the world, so
- 33:06Speaker 1: we do public events, but we also do a lot
- 33:09Speaker 1: of private events. And then I also have executive consulting.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I'll work with mostly ceo s or executive leadership. I'm
- 33:18Speaker 1: really trying to figure out a way to achieve that
- 33:21Speaker 1: next level of success. And as the other part is
- 33:25Speaker 1: are the books and other materials that we create. Now
- 33:29Speaker 1: I have another company which is my angel investment company,
- 33:32Speaker 1: my real estate holdings UM and other things that I
- 33:37Speaker 1: do to produce your revenue. That mess is because I've
- 33:40Speaker 1: heard this this angel investor. What exactly is an angel investor?
- 33:49Speaker 1: An angel investor is a high net worth individual who
- 33:55Speaker 1: may not know the venture that's out fundraising. So usually
- 34:01Speaker 1: in a startup UM and I've had six, well seven
- 34:05Speaker 1: startups UM, And in a startup you usually go through
- 34:09Speaker 1: the phases of boots trapping, so use your own money.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I remember mortgaging a couple of properties and and you know,
- 34:17Speaker 1: selling everything that I had in order to get businesses started. UM,
- 34:22Speaker 1: So you boots trap. Usually the founder and anybody else
- 34:25Speaker 1: that might be a partner gets involved in that stage.
- 34:29Speaker 1: After you prove that some stuff is working, then you
- 34:32Speaker 1: go to your friends and family stage. These are people
- 34:36Speaker 1: that know your character, that know you. You don't have
- 34:40Speaker 1: to be as formal because you know they've known you
- 34:43Speaker 1: for a very long time and trust your ability to
- 34:47Speaker 1: execute on a business plan, so they'll come in for
- 34:50Speaker 1: money the very first time that you go out. Two
- 34:55Speaker 1: investors that are not part of that friends and family group.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Those are angel investors. I'm not exactly sure how we
- 35:04Speaker 1: got the title, but if you look at the show
- 35:09Speaker 1: Shark Tank, those are angel investors. And now, granted they're
- 35:14Speaker 1: much wealthier and when they invest, they have a lot
- 35:17Speaker 1: more zeros. Most of the time, angel investors will come
- 35:20Speaker 1: in when the company is an early stage company may
- 35:25Speaker 1: be valued up to five or ten million dollars for
- 35:29Speaker 1: that seed round of angel investment, and then they go
- 35:34Speaker 1: into A rounds and B rounds, and then you get
- 35:36Speaker 1: the venture capitalists that come in after angel investors. We're
- 35:40Speaker 1: talking to May McCarthy. Uh. The book we're discussing is
- 35:44Speaker 1: the Gratitude Formula, a seven step success system to create
- 35:47Speaker 1: a life that you love. In this book, you will
- 35:49Speaker 1: learn the importance of gratitude as a valuable part of
- 35:53Speaker 1: a daily system for success so that you can experience
- 35:56Speaker 1: more of the good things that you desire. What do
- 35:58Speaker 1: you want? Greater financial freedom, improved health, satisfying work, harmonious relationships,
- 36:04Speaker 1: regularly regular recreation, and the means to enjoy it. You
- 36:08Speaker 1: can use this daily system for success to enable you
- 36:11Speaker 1: to receive all of the things that you wanted more.
- 36:13Speaker 1: That's what when I was reading the book. Is you
- 36:16Speaker 1: the reason I'm enjoying this interview with you because you
- 36:19Speaker 1: care a lot of values that I speak about on
- 36:21Speaker 1: the show about self motivation. A lot of people call
- 36:25Speaker 1: in on the show talk about their faith. Uh, and
- 36:28Speaker 1: like you said, the faith is whatever you call it,
- 36:30Speaker 1: but they have some some divine force or summers that
- 36:34Speaker 1: allows you to stay competitive, stay organized, stay focused. And
- 36:38Speaker 1: that's what you're talking about when you're talking about to
- 36:40Speaker 1: see us, oh, that you put above the CEO in
- 36:43Speaker 1: your life. And it's a lot of people want to
- 36:45Speaker 1: characterize that they need more of a defined presence or
- 36:49Speaker 1: physical presence. And you're saying all this is driven by emotion.
- 36:52Speaker 1: All is driven by it and and an inner gut
- 36:55Speaker 1: instinct or intuition. That right, that first thought. And that's
- 36:58Speaker 1: why I always say on the show, go with the
- 37:00Speaker 1: first thought. If you're going with the second and third,
- 37:02Speaker 1: that's not too good instinct anymore. The first thought, your
- 37:05Speaker 1: first thought is your gut instinct, correct, right, Well, it
- 37:09Speaker 1: could come in a number of different ways. For instance, UM,
- 37:13Speaker 1: I don't know if you've been to Cleveland before, but
- 37:15Speaker 1: I had, Yeah, I've had some large customers there because
- 37:21Speaker 1: it's a great hospital town. And I found myself in Cleveland.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I got off the plane, grabbed my bags, got my
- 37:27Speaker 1: rental car, went to the hotel and dropped everything off,
- 37:30Speaker 1: and then I went to the I was going to
- 37:31Speaker 1: go to the closest grocery store it's about five minutes away,
- 37:35Speaker 1: to pick up protein shakes and water and things like that.
- 37:38Speaker 1: And when I got in the car, I had a
- 37:41Speaker 1: very strong thought. That first thought about a grocery store
- 37:44Speaker 1: of fifteen minutes a way, Well, that didn't make any sense,
- 37:47Speaker 1: and my rational mind tried to talk me out of it.
- 37:50Speaker 1: But I know, like you, that perhaps that's something that
- 37:54Speaker 1: I need to pay attention to. So I sat there
- 37:57Speaker 1: for a moment and I thought, you know, I should
- 37:59Speaker 1: probably make the drive. Maybe everything will beyond sale. So
- 38:02Speaker 1: he did. And when I was walking into the grocery store,
- 38:06Speaker 1: there was a guy who was walking out who I recognized.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I met him six months before the trade show. He
- 38:13Speaker 1: represented a giant new customer, and he was not returning
- 38:17Speaker 1: any of my phone calls or emails for an appointment.
- 38:20Speaker 1: And here we are face to face. So while while
- 38:23Speaker 1: I was talking to him, he said, look, while you're
- 38:25Speaker 1: in town, come make a presentation. Well that led to
- 38:28Speaker 1: another presentation and another presentation and a contract worth over
- 38:32Speaker 1: four hundred thousand dollars, which was my goal that I
- 38:35Speaker 1: was revisiting every single day because that's the way this works. Absolutely.
- 38:41Speaker 1: You know, I know we're running time on a time
- 38:44Speaker 1: on this interview, and I want to bring you back
- 38:46Speaker 1: and may hopefully enjoyed this interview with me, because I
- 38:48Speaker 1: want to bring up this moment, a sharable moment in
- 38:51Speaker 1: your book, and it was about when you went to
- 38:53Speaker 1: visit your sister, because I was diagnosed with thyrol cancer
- 38:57Speaker 1: and then the way I was um in your direct
- 39:02Speaker 1: cancers in the throat area. And so if you go
- 39:04Speaker 1: to your and I go to annual dental appointment and
- 39:08Speaker 1: your doctor appointment, and they all they all do the
- 39:10Speaker 1: net chats, you know, they check, you know, they'll feel
- 39:13Speaker 1: around they go, they're feeling for lungs. That's what they're
- 39:15Speaker 1: feeling for. And usually if you they feel something, that
- 39:18Speaker 1: usually is the first sign of thyrod cancer. And now
- 39:21Speaker 1: I passed these tests in December and I'm in January
- 39:24Speaker 1: I'm listening to I'm having a meeting, a general meeting
- 39:27Speaker 1: with my blood doctor, and she's run there too, blown
- 39:30Speaker 1: blood tests, and so she's asked me. This was the
- 39:33Speaker 1: same thing. If you read a book, you're talking about
- 39:35Speaker 1: a similar situation where she went in to see a doctor.
- 39:38Speaker 1: And in this situation where it started with her sister,
- 39:41Speaker 1: her sister just saying, hey, she knows something on her leg,
- 39:44Speaker 1: won't you go see a doctor? And she goes to
- 39:46Speaker 1: the doctor. My situation with this blood was like I
- 39:49Speaker 1: could have easily went, hey, just take my blood and
- 39:52Speaker 1: go home so I can go home. She said, well,
- 39:54Speaker 1: can I just touch your neck and just check? And
- 39:57Speaker 1: she and she and she felt along. Now I went
- 39:59Speaker 1: to to other people who have told me they were
- 40:02Speaker 1: cool with this law, right, I went through the whole process,
- 40:05Speaker 1: and she told me, and she said, well, do you
- 40:07Speaker 1: mind if I check if I do a biopsy on
- 40:12Speaker 1: that same thing that may does in her book and
- 40:15Speaker 1: in her situation, she would diagnose with early stage of cancer,
- 40:19Speaker 1: which became very cuable. Same thing in my situation, I'll
- 40:22Speaker 1: diagnosed with direct cancer. And right now I've been cancer
- 40:29Speaker 1: free since that diagnosis and since that surgery. So I
- 40:32Speaker 1: find your life very relatable to mine may and that
- 40:35Speaker 1: is why I want to tell you that I want
- 40:37Speaker 1: to bring you back on the show, especially to promote
- 40:40Speaker 1: your upcompany event in Unity Village, because you're special and
- 40:43Speaker 1: I want to remind you that and all my viewers
- 40:45Speaker 1: and listeners that this is the book that everybody should buy.
- 40:48Speaker 1: And lots of people out there that are getting mis

- 42:04Speaker 1: is ra Sean McDonald. You're listening to Money Making Conversation.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Money Making Conversations is your show. Money Making Conversation is
- 42:09Speaker 1: a product of information that I've gained over to the years,
- 42:13Speaker 1: and I try to share with individuals to make them
- 42:16Speaker 1: understand that they can be successful too. That's it. They
- 42:19Speaker 1: can be successful too. That they can take their ideas,
- 42:23Speaker 1: their content, their dreams, apply a plan, hard work, and consistency,
- 42:28Speaker 1: and they can win. To win. Now, what is winning?
- 42:31Speaker 1: Went into some people that through their faith, winning for
- 42:33Speaker 1: some people to do their relationships, winning for some people's
- 42:36Speaker 1: financial success. So choose the lane that you want to
- 42:39Speaker 1: get in and roll with it. Either way you're gonna win.
- 42:43Speaker 1: I win in all three of those lanes. But I
- 42:46Speaker 1: didn't understand that because I didn't have family. First, I
- 42:49Speaker 1: didn't underst I didn't have a balanced life. I have
- 42:51Speaker 1: a very balanced life. Now I understand that I can
- 42:54Speaker 1: do everything. I can follow my dreams. I can get
- 42:56Speaker 1: off their wheel that I was just running on forever, forever,
- 43:00Speaker 1: ever and ever and ever and win with so you
- 43:03Speaker 1: can win too. And it's important to understand that. That's
- 43:05Speaker 1: why I created money making conversations. So you can listen
- 43:07Speaker 1: to conversations from say, sexful people and listen to their journey,
- 43:11Speaker 1: their journey or how they made a misstep here or
- 43:14Speaker 1: they didn't make any missteps, but they understood that they
- 43:17Speaker 1: had to rely on themselves. They had to rely on
- 43:21Speaker 1: their faith, had to rely on their being, had to
- 43:24Speaker 1: rely on their relationship, had to rely on many many
- 43:28Speaker 1: things to win, not only short term, for long term.
- 43:32Speaker 1: My next guest is one of my favorites. This is
- 43:35Speaker 1: what it's called the long term relationships because we've known
- 43:37Speaker 1: each other the way back when she came back and
- 43:40Speaker 1: used to do samples thankful meals on the Steve Harvard
- 43:44Speaker 1: Mourning Show when I was executive produced to co created
- 43:46Speaker 1: the Steve Harvard Morning Show, which Steve Harvey say the
- 43:48Speaker 1: words chef and traditionally it conjures up images of a
- 43:51Speaker 1: big white hat, a top a restaurant chef. However, the
- 43:55Speaker 1: recipe for this dynamic chef goes against all traditions. Chef
- 43:59Speaker 1: Jamaica known for her bold flavors and sassy personality. To
- 44:03Speaker 1: say the least, my next guest. You love watching her
- 44:06Speaker 1: on the Food Network, the Cooking Channel and every win
- 44:08Speaker 1: she posts amazing recipes on my at Rashaan McDonald facebook page.
- 44:13Speaker 1: Please welcome my friend, the Money Making Conversation Chef Jimmyka.
- 44:20Speaker 1: I love listening to you. I can listen to you forever.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Thank you and thank you. I appreciate that. You know,
- 44:25Speaker 1: I'm starting to get those emails, you know, the text said,
- 44:28Speaker 1: hey Richean and you know what you're saying, and people
- 44:30Speaker 1: starting to find the show, and uh, I'm so excited
- 44:33Speaker 1: because I just want to be consistent, and not only
- 44:35Speaker 1: with people come on the show, but people who invite
- 44:39Speaker 1: back to the show. They really you know, you come
- 44:41Speaker 1: on the show, you kind of come on the show.
- 44:43Speaker 1: You hear about Richard that I have a relationship. Maybe
- 44:45Speaker 1: do when you do the show, go wow, this show
- 44:46Speaker 1: is kind of different. He has no agenda. He just
- 44:49Speaker 1: wants to promote and be happy and and tell people's
- 44:51Speaker 1: success stories and share those that information. And you have
- 44:55Speaker 1: a great story to share. That's why I always bring
- 44:57Speaker 1: you back on my show. Thank you. Yes, yeah, And
- 45:01Speaker 1: I mean just listen to you. I'm like, he's telling
- 45:03Speaker 1: the truth. You can do it all. And people think, oh,
- 45:05Speaker 1: you can't have it all. Yes you can. You just
- 45:07Speaker 1: have to figure out your purpose. And a lot of
- 45:09Speaker 1: people like, oh, what's my purpose? Is whatever you do
- 45:12Speaker 1: to make somebody else smile, And for me that's through
- 45:15Speaker 1: my food. I was pulling this to make people smile
- 45:17Speaker 1: with my food. And thank god, I can get paid
- 45:20Speaker 1: for it. I can get a TV in doing it.
- 45:22Speaker 1: But everybody has put on this earth for a reason
- 45:24Speaker 1: and you just got to figure out what that is.
- 45:26Speaker 1: And yes, you can get paid very nicely for it,
- 45:28Speaker 1: but you can also be happy with what you do.
- 45:30Speaker 1: So I appreciate that you do this show that people
- 45:33Speaker 1: can hear stories and from so many different walks of
- 45:36Speaker 1: life and actually put themselves in those shoes and say
- 45:39Speaker 1: I can do this. Why am I not doing this?
- 45:41Speaker 1: Because they can do it, I can do it. So
- 45:42Speaker 1: that's why I just appreciate what you stand for, what
- 45:45Speaker 1: you do, and I appreciate you having me on because
- 45:47Speaker 1: I get to tell my story and inspire other people
- 45:49Speaker 1: to do it, because I don't want to be the
- 45:50Speaker 1: only one in the kitchen. Absolutely, and the great thing
- 45:53Speaker 1: about it is that our relationship is over ten years old,
- 45:55Speaker 1: and but we don't look at that's the good thing. Yes,
- 46:00Speaker 1: what life is good for both of us. But I
- 46:03Speaker 1: think they I think that's help because we're happy people
- 46:06Speaker 1: and we don't allow we don't stay in stressful situations.
- 46:09Speaker 1: And a lot of people do that. They're just hanging
- 46:11Speaker 1: there was bothering them, and they let they bother the
- 46:14Speaker 1: bothering situations. Just take control of their lives and their
- 46:17Speaker 1: decision makers. And guess what they either stressed, grumpy or
- 46:20Speaker 1: people are good people don't want to hang around them. Yeah,
- 46:23Speaker 1: and it worry will affect you mentally, physically, emotionally. You
- 46:27Speaker 1: can you can look at people and tell when they're
- 46:29Speaker 1: wearing their worries. So we don't have time to that.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Absolutely can't make time or space for that. And it
- 46:34Speaker 1: was so funny. It was off air, and I said,
- 46:35Speaker 1: let's bring this story on air every Wednesday. If you
- 46:39Speaker 1: can't catch it on the Food Channel, you can't catch
- 46:40Speaker 1: your on the Cooking Channel, can't catch your on some
- 46:43Speaker 1: national TV show. Well, every Wensday she posts amazing photos,
- 46:49Speaker 1: video recipe of something that she's recommended that easy to cook,
- 46:53Speaker 1: easy to prepare, easy debate and one and affordable. At
- 46:58Speaker 1: one time, you know, you know Roshan work time was
- 47:01Speaker 1: going through my Facebook pho. You posted what it was
- 47:04Speaker 1: like People Magazine, right, Yes, that was my debut in
- 47:08Speaker 1: People Magazine for the fourth of July, and they called
- 47:11Speaker 1: me out of blue, which is so crazy, but I mean,
- 47:14Speaker 1: people see you out there, put your stuff out there,
- 47:16Speaker 1: people will find you. And they asked me to do
- 47:18Speaker 1: a dessert recipe for the fourth of July. So I
- 47:21Speaker 1: did my ice cream sandwich canpies and it's the simplest recipe,
- 47:26Speaker 1: but everybody loved it, I think because it was so
- 47:28Speaker 1: similar in in its ingree that you having your pantry
- 47:30Speaker 1: and your viewers. I mean, they just loved it. I
- 47:33Speaker 1: mean it was just basic piechro pie dough and that
- 47:36Speaker 1: you can buy in the store and whatever jam or
- 47:39Speaker 1: juggy you want, and I made it red, white and blue,
- 47:41Speaker 1: and it was just such an honor to do that,
- 47:43Speaker 1: and so many people responded so well. So I hope
- 47:46Speaker 1: everybody made it and you can still find it on there,
- 47:48Speaker 1: and you can make it for Labor Day coming up
- 47:50Speaker 1: or any time you want to any um holiday coming up.
- 47:54Speaker 1: And it's just so easy. That's I patted my recipes
- 47:56Speaker 1: after being so simple, so easy, so affordable, Like who
- 48:00Speaker 1: has time to waste in the kitchen? I don't have
- 48:02Speaker 1: all day for that. I'm a chef, but I make
- 48:05Speaker 1: food for real people and real recipes. So it was
- 48:08Speaker 1: just such an honesty. So many people loved it. D
- 48:12Speaker 1: nine thousand people, nine people. I went, Okay, you know,
- 48:18Speaker 1: trying to raise easy. That's nine. That's a testament to
- 48:23Speaker 1: your brand because people have to believe that's that's a
- 48:26Speaker 1: layer of credibility that comes with those lights. You know
- 48:29Speaker 1: they've seen your brand. You've been consistent, and that's what
- 48:31Speaker 1: I love about when we talk about coming on the show,
- 48:34Speaker 1: I asked you to do me your favorite what you love.
- 48:37Speaker 1: I love the sponsor or promote a post about food.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I said, every Wednesday, I'm giving you a slot, you
- 48:42Speaker 1: give me what recipe you want, and I posted, so
- 48:45Speaker 1: every Wednesday she post and that's just a byproduct of
- 48:47Speaker 1: that consistency. Bam, you go, Wow, it's worth. It was
- 48:51Speaker 1: worth and I love the comments to people have such
- 48:53Speaker 1: great comments and they tag other people like you need
- 48:56Speaker 1: to make this for me or I'm making this for
- 48:58Speaker 1: you this weekend. So it really does a whole family
- 49:01Speaker 1: of everybody enjoying good food. I still love that. No,
- 49:04Speaker 1: it was interesting about summertime. It's always uh tied to barbecue,
- 49:10Speaker 1: and it's a it's a kind of annoying because I
- 49:13Speaker 1: eat barbecue. Ye're in So I'm trying to figure out,
- 49:16Speaker 1: you know, you know, because people all got great barbecue
- 49:19Speaker 1: recipe in the summer, rap okay, but I can eat
- 49:21Speaker 1: barbecue anytime anywhere. So and when grob a warm and
- 49:25Speaker 1: you don't know what the weather is gonna be, you
- 49:27Speaker 1: can pull out that girl anytime, right. So I'm trying
- 49:29Speaker 1: to figure out how does a food that you eat
- 49:33Speaker 1: year round only gets celebrated in the summer. It's almost
- 49:36Speaker 1: like perty doing Thanksgiving. It's just an easy way to
- 49:40Speaker 1: sell it. But I mean, growing up the South, I
- 49:42Speaker 1: mean we barbecue year round. It doesn't matter if it
- 49:45Speaker 1: is in the winter. You can still play that girl.
- 49:47Speaker 1: But you know what the way things are now, I
- 49:49Speaker 1: mean you can have indoor grills, you can find I
- 49:52Speaker 1: have a lot of recipes that are for the grill,
- 49:54Speaker 1: but you can also put them in the oven. I mean,
- 49:57Speaker 1: some people feel it's a sin to put some barbecue
- 49:59Speaker 1: ribs in the oven. It's as long as they taste
- 50:01Speaker 1: good and they're tender. Does it really matter. I don't
- 50:04Speaker 1: think so. But I mean, it's it's just something about
- 50:07Speaker 1: the summer and grilling. But I mean, the grill just
- 50:09Speaker 1: brings people together. You smell that grill down the street
- 50:12Speaker 1: and you know I'm going to the house because they're
- 50:14Speaker 1: cooking something good. And I love to do. I have
- 50:16Speaker 1: so many barbecue recipes, and I will say that I
- 50:19Speaker 1: I do have some real skills on the grill. I've
- 50:22Speaker 1: develops over time, and I do not give up my segrets.
- 50:26Speaker 1: I love the way she was talking this years to
- 50:29Speaker 1: stepped back and okay, check yourself. Ah, this is what
- 50:33Speaker 1: I do. Don't let the don't let the chelf and
- 50:35Speaker 1: the TV station fool you. I got skills when I
- 50:39Speaker 1: agree with now, absolutely, And ladies, we can be cute
- 50:42Speaker 1: on the grill. Don't believe that that only the guys
- 50:45Speaker 1: can grill. We can do our thing too, So I
- 50:47Speaker 1: encourage all the ladies pretty ladies out on the grill
- 50:50Speaker 1: any time of year. Do your thing. There you go.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Now let's talk about some projects because we're gonna go
- 50:54Speaker 1: back and forth, because this is a friend talking to
- 50:56Speaker 1: a friend, relationship talking to a relationship on money making
- 50:59Speaker 1: conversations Um every Wednesday coming up in the fall. Now
- 51:03Speaker 1: you're going to make a regular appearance on Dr oz Yes. Now,
- 51:08Speaker 1: we did it all last season and Dr oz is
- 51:10Speaker 1: so gracious and everybody loves Dr oz Um. He's asked
- 51:14Speaker 1: me to come back every Wednesday. We take over the
- 51:16Speaker 1: last thirty minutes of his show and it's called the
- 51:19Speaker 1: Dish on Oz and it's myself, it's her, his daughter, Daphne,
- 51:23Speaker 1: she's a part of as well, and we just have
- 51:25Speaker 1: fun in the kitchen. We give you great recipes and
- 51:28Speaker 1: they're not all just healthy. And don't think that. Dr
- 51:31Speaker 1: oz is like, oh, it's got to be some killing
- 51:33Speaker 1: and it's got to be healthy. He just enjoys good
- 51:36Speaker 1: food and so I give him all of that. We
- 51:38Speaker 1: have cocktails, we laugh, we talk. It's so much, so
- 51:41Speaker 1: much fun and you just kind of let your hair
- 51:44Speaker 1: down and you just come to the table. So I
- 51:46Speaker 1: encourage everybody this fall. You have to check it out
- 51:49Speaker 1: d v RD. If you're at work, watch it on
- 51:51Speaker 1: your phone, do whatever you have to do with Every Wednesday,
- 51:53Speaker 1: you can see me there just dancing, having a good time.
- 51:56Speaker 1: I love that audience. I just love being out there
- 51:59Speaker 1: with interest by doctor Oz because you know, you're the
- 52:02Speaker 1: word doctor. He's built a career on being a medical expert.
- 52:06Speaker 1: And you've seen this show evolved the last few year.
- 52:08Speaker 1: Is evolved to a lifestyle show. A lifestyle show. So
- 52:13Speaker 1: when you get the call to appear old Doctors, what
- 52:16Speaker 1: were the first thought? Was that healthy concept running through
- 52:19Speaker 1: your mind? Or when when you got the call to
- 52:22Speaker 1: do doctors before you realize you know something, I could
- 52:24Speaker 1: just be me and you know what, that's exactly what
- 52:27Speaker 1: it is because I'm a classically trained chef. I mean
- 52:30Speaker 1: I'm traveled all over the world and I've cooked all
- 52:32Speaker 1: over the world. So when I got the call, I
- 52:35Speaker 1: was like, Okay, now the world can just see what
- 52:38Speaker 1: a different type of chef looks like. I don't dress
- 52:41Speaker 1: like what show. I don't. I don't feel like when
- 52:43Speaker 1: people see me they're like, you're a chef. You don't
- 52:45Speaker 1: look like a chef? What does that look like? I
- 52:47Speaker 1: just look like a woman that love to have fun
- 52:49Speaker 1: in the kitchen and give people good food. So when
- 52:51Speaker 1: they said we want you to bring your perspective to
- 52:54Speaker 1: the kitchen and bring your your career beyond slaver and
- 52:57Speaker 1: your southern dishes and just bring the part be I'm like,
- 53:00Speaker 1: that is exactly what I want to do. And the
- 53:02Speaker 1: party doesn't always have to be deep fried and smother
- 53:05Speaker 1: than anything. You can have a party and keep it
- 53:07Speaker 1: light and cute and fun, and then we can go
- 53:09Speaker 1: for the comfort food. So I love to give people
- 53:11Speaker 1: just a wide range and always pair something with a
- 53:14Speaker 1: fun cocktail on mocktail, because you know, it's always a
- 53:16Speaker 1: party when you have a good drink in your hand.
- 53:18Speaker 1: So I just love to just I'm the party. I
- 53:21Speaker 1: am the life of the party, and I'm my motto
- 53:23Speaker 1: is life is a party, so you have to live
- 53:26Speaker 1: it like one. So and that's just what I bring
- 53:28Speaker 1: every Wednesday. We know the fun part about hearing you grow,
- 53:32Speaker 1: that's a that's a brand as a talent. You know,
- 53:34Speaker 1: I can hear your boss is so much stronger, so
- 53:36Speaker 1: much more detail, and because you know, opportunities to keep
- 53:40Speaker 1: coming anyway, because we all know we're just trying to
- 53:42Speaker 1: get in the lane. We're just trying to get out there.
- 53:45Speaker 1: And then when you start getting a doctor, you get
- 53:47Speaker 1: a People magazine, it starts giving you the confidence. Okay,
- 53:51Speaker 1: I am. People are recognizing that what I do is
- 53:54Speaker 1: a reality because we all have dreams. And that's the thing.
- 53:58Speaker 1: People they only see me at the doctors and the
- 54:00Speaker 1: People magazine like, oh, I want to do that too,
- 54:03Speaker 1: But they didn't see me starting out as an intern
- 54:06Speaker 1: at hotels in Atlanta and want to culinary school and
- 54:09Speaker 1: in the trenches, staying up late and catering parties as
- 54:12Speaker 1: a one woman caterer for parties of people of a
- 54:14Speaker 1: hundred and two people because I couldn't afford a staff,
- 54:17Speaker 1: So you gotta everybody starts at one place and then
- 54:21Speaker 1: you just continue to go and grow. And that's how
- 54:24Speaker 1: you know you're doing the right thing. You're wonderful. Thank
- 54:26Speaker 1: you And that's like you said, n Cookie Jowl and
- 54:30Speaker 1: doctor Oz. Every wednes you post on at Rashaw McDonald's
