Transcript
- 0:00Did you imagine that the business and the mission would
- 0:02have grown this much and you would be at almost a half
- 0:05$1,000,000 donated through Seven weeks coffee?
- 0:08I think we're just getting started, but this milestone of
- 0:10$500,000 donated is going to be awesome to surpass.
- 0:13We're obviously unapologetically pro-life.
- 0:16We're actually leading the charge in how we source our
- 0:18coffee. So we like to say we're pro
- 0:20abundant life, from the farmers we get to support to the moms at
- 0:23pregnancy care centers. What is your advice to someone
- 0:26listening who maybe is an entrepreneur themselves or is
- 0:29trying to get into starting a business?
- 0:36Anton Kresic, welcome to the podcast.
- 0:38Thank you so much for having me on Lila.
- 0:40All right, we're big fans of you on the show.
- 0:42As you know, we talk about 7 weeks all the time.
- 0:44It's really amazing what you've built.
- 0:46So I'm excited to share with the audience some of the background
- 0:49here because not many people know it.
- 0:51So for starters, tell us a little bit about your
- 0:53background, Anton, and then what inspired you to found Seven
- 0:58Weeks Coffee? Yeah, so I used to work in
- 1:01political fundraising, but I always had a passion for the
- 1:04pro-life movement. It really inspired. 7 Weeks
- 1:07Coffee was four years ago. I got to visit a pregnancy
- 1:09Center for the first time. I was always pro-life.
- 1:11I grew up in a pro-life household, but I didn't know
- 1:13what it looked like. You know, you know, until you
- 1:15actually see it in action, especially like a pregnancy
- 1:17center, you don't know what actually it means to live out a
- 1:20pro-life worldview. And I just saw the work that
- 1:22they did saving lives in the community, helping mothers.
- 1:26But one thing stuck out to me, how underfunded centers can be.
- 1:31And it was really moving because you saw the need, you see what
- 1:34they're doing, but there's a gap with the resources they have.
- 1:39So that was four years ago. Fast forward 2021, I had the
- 1:44idea for Seven Weeks Coffee out of a passion for coffee and out
- 1:47of a passion to support local pregnancy resource centers with
- 1:52the mission of donating back 10% of every sale.
- 1:55So that's how it came to be. It was funny enough that it was,
- 1:57it was two weeks after I got married, I started Seven Weeks
- 2:00Coffee. I, I called my wife, told her
- 2:02the idea for this company. She was totally on board.
- 2:06She helped me come up with the name because at 7 weeks, a baby
- 2:09is the size of a coffee bean, as your audience knows, and it's
- 2:12the same time a heartbeat's detected.
- 2:14And local centers which we sent out, which we support, provide
- 2:19ultrasound services. So that's a little bit about me
- 2:21and the mission of Seven Weeks Coffee and how we get to give
- 2:24back at a local level. That's so beautiful.
- 2:27It's so awesome, Anton. And tell me now, I I, I, we
- 2:30sometimes up the number on the show because the business is
- 2:33growing. The mission continues to grow,
- 2:35which is very exciting. How much money so far has Seven
- 2:38Weeks Coffee been able to donate to pregnancy resource centers
- 2:42directly and what are your goals?
- 2:44I know there's a big audacious goal now in order to further
- 2:47fuel the pro-life movement and help moms connect with their
- 2:50babies to save lives. Yeah.
- 2:52So I'll start from the beginning because that first month when we
- 2:55started, we didn't really know where this would go.
- 2:58That first month, we just wanted to sell, cough and give back to
- 3:00our local center. That month we sold $8000 and
- 3:04dropped off a check for $800 and just thought it was the coolest
- 3:06thing because we were able to give back.
- 3:08Now, you're right, we are growing.
- 3:10We've been able to raise nearly $450,000 supporting over 850
- 3:16centers across the nation with the same model, providing world
- 3:19class specialty coffee and giving back to local centers.
- 3:22Which is really cool because we're coming up and launching
- 3:26right now this new initiative called Drink More Coffee, Save
- 3:29More Lives because we're approaching $500,000 donated,
- 3:34which has the impact to provide 5000 ultrasound services.
- 3:38So for your viewers to know, it's around $100 to service and
- 3:41provide an ultrasound to an expecting mother in need.
- 3:45And ultrasounds are truly the way that help moms choose life
- 3:49for their babies. So we believe the $500,000 we're
- 3:53about to donate can provide 5000 ultrasound services and save
- 3:575000 lives. So that's why we're launching
- 3:59this initiative called Drink More Coffee, Save More Lives.
- 4:02Help us save 5000 lives. It's been truly remarkable.
- 4:05We're coming up on three years old and this is just a really
- 4:08cool milestone we're grateful to reach with our audience and our
- 4:12consumers all over the country. That's actually an amazing
- 4:15milestone for just three years of business.
- 4:17And I know again, you started it small just to support one
- 4:20pregnancy center. Now you're at 850.
- 4:22Did you imagine when you were starting just three years ago
- 4:25and it was also pandemic time? I mean, there's all this
- 4:27craziness happening, the economy.
- 4:29Did you imagine that the business and the mission would
- 4:31have grown this much and you would be at almost a half
- 4:34$1,000,000 donated through Seven weeks coffee?
- 4:38Yeah, I, I had no idea. You know, it's funny when you're
- 4:41just starting something, it's hard to see down the road where
- 4:44things can do, where things can go.
- 4:46But right away what was interesting, we saw so many
- 4:49people have enthusiasm and support of our brand.
- 4:52So we knew we were like on to something, which really shows
- 4:56there's, there's so many Christian and pro-life consumers
- 4:59out there who are dying for products that align with their
- 5:02mission, that they can buy something that they support.
- 5:05And so we were truly feeling a void that we didn't maybe even
- 5:07realize was there. And it quickly caught on.
- 5:11Now it definitely has me, you know, looking forward to say,
- 5:15hey, this is what we've been able to do in nearly three
- 5:18years. I think we have so much more
- 5:21that we can do and grow. We want to see our support to
- 5:24almost every pregnancy center in the nation.
- 5:26We want to be the resource, the funding resource for the
- 5:29pro-life movement because we think there's so many great
- 5:32opportunities to support in the pro-life movement outs including
- 5:35pregnancy centers from adoption to maternity homes.
- 5:37Now we're getting to support. I think we're just getting
- 5:40started, but this milestone of $500,000 donated is going to be
- 5:44awesome to surpass. So we're excited to invite your
- 5:47viewers and people all over the country who love coffee and want
- 5:50to make a difference. They really can do that by
- 5:53joining Seven Weeks Coffee Every morning.
- 5:57Amazing. And then Anton, just share a
- 5:59little bit. What I really love about your
- 6:01product is that it's not just, oh, it's a good 'cause obviously
- 6:04it is the most important 'cause in my opinion.
- 6:05And as you know, you feel the same way.
- 6:08It's not just that we're trying to save lives here and you are
- 6:10helping save lives directly, but that you've created and crafted
- 6:14both a brand and a product that is just the best in class.
- 6:17I mean, it is an excellent product.
- 6:18The coffee is absolutely delicious, It's small batched,
- 6:21it's fresh, and there's all these different blends that I
- 6:23have loved to try and experiment with.
- 6:26But tell me a little bit what went into the process of
- 6:28developing the product so that it truly is the best coffee
- 6:32product on the market? Yeah, It's a great thing we love
- 6:35to talk about because we believe two things.
- 6:37We believe life is worth fighting for and defending.
- 6:40We're also believed to do that with our brand.
- 6:42As a coffee company, we believe the consumer deserves a better
- 6:46cup of coffee and we do that by how we source our coffee and
- 6:49provide that to customers. So what's unique about us is
- 6:52we're one of the only coffee companies that sources through
- 6:54direct trade, which means we buy directly from farmers.
- 6:58There's no middleman. Every coffee we sell, we
- 7:01personally know the farmers who grew it, the hands that touched
- 7:04it and produced this crops. We have complete transparency
- 7:07over the supply chain. This leads to exceptional
- 7:10quality. Top 1 to 2% of the beans in the
- 7:12world allows us to treat farmers equitably and give them 300%
- 7:18more than fair trade requires because we're not buying through
- 7:21a middleman. So oftentimes farmers are paid
- 7:24pennies on the dollar. We don't do that.
- 7:26We buy directly from farmers and help communities across the
- 7:29nation, from farmers in Ethiopia to Haiti, which obviously is a
- 7:33poor country, but we support sustainable employment there
- 7:36through our coffee importing. And it's just awesome that we
- 7:39get to match what we say, excellence in mission and
- 7:42excellence in product because we believe to really move the
- 7:44needle with market based products, you have to actually
- 7:48compete in the market. So we're obviously
- 7:51unapologetically pro-life, but we are also a much better
- 7:55product comparatively to your Starbucks, your Dunkin' Donuts
- 7:59or other specialty coffees out there.
- 8:00We're actually leading the charge in how we source our
- 8:03coffee. So we like to say we're pro
- 8:05abundant life, from the farmers we get to support to the moms of
- 8:08pregnancy care centers. Amazing.
- 8:11One more question for your Anton.
- 8:12You've started this young, you know you had just gotten married
- 8:15when you launched the company. It's now a multi $1,000,000
- 8:18company. Your revenue is hitting in the
- 8:20multi millions and here you are about to donate 1/2 a million to
- 8:23pregnancy centers, which is an amazing milestone.
- 8:26What is your advice to someone listening who maybe is an
- 8:29entrepreneur themselves or is trying to get into starting a
- 8:32business? What has been some of the
- 8:34guiding stars for you? Maybe your top two pieces of
- 8:36advice for entrepreneurs. Yeah, you know, the two, the two
- 8:41biggest things I think for me were you have to be incredibly
- 8:44persistent when you start, be incredibly resourceful and you
- 8:50have to you have to learn how to cast a vision quickly.
- 8:54What I what I do regret is not thinking, you know, long term
- 8:58down the road from the beginning because you know, if you are in
- 9:01it to start something for a mission, you believe in a
- 9:03product you love, have a big vision for it because it truly
- 9:07can happen. I've experienced that and I'm
- 9:09just incredibly grateful and blessed for that.
- 9:11But when you think long term and plan in that, in that fashion,
- 9:16it really sets you up for what I think is what can really change
- 9:21your life and you know, change your trajectory that your family
- 9:24walks it. You know, your family has with
- 9:26your business like me and my wife.
- 9:28This has become our mission. So yeah, don't be afraid to to,
- 9:33to dream big with, with the business you want to start.
- 9:37Awesome. Thank you so much, Anton.
- 9:38Where can people find? Well, I tell them all the time,
- 9:41sevenweekscoffee.com tell people what how to get involved right
- 9:45now so that they can help you reach half a million to
- 9:47pregnancy centers. Yeah, you can shop our Drink
