- 0:09Speaker 1: a suit on, looking back to back down, giving the
- 0:13Speaker 1: move like the mooking buck bus things and it's covering me.
- 0:19Speaker 1: True good at Steve has listening to move to other
- 0:26Speaker 1: for Steve, please by I don't join by joining me.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Have you gotta turn ing the you gotta turn to
- 1:41Speaker 1: turn them out, got to turn out to turn the
- 1:46Speaker 1: water the water. Come, come on your baby at it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Uh huh. I shall will a good morning everybody. You're
- 2:05Speaker 1: listening to the voice, Come on dig me now, one
- 2:08Speaker 1: and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Okay, today
- 2:12Speaker 1: is simple. I want to tell you. I want to
- 2:18Speaker 1: just talk to you about effort today. Just about effort.
- 2:24Speaker 1: You know, it's it's it's it's a word that people
- 2:27Speaker 1: use to describe sometimes trying. But what I found out
- 2:33Speaker 1: about trying is trying is just a noble way of
- 2:37Speaker 1: saying you didn't get it done. I tried when and
- 2:43Speaker 1: then everybody go, well he tried, that was the best.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Well that's that's not exactly true though that that's that's
- 2:51Speaker 1: not exactly true, you all, And I want to talk
- 2:54Speaker 1: to you about that because I don't want you to
- 2:56Speaker 1: be one of the people who just tried. See trying,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I mean, I gotta tell you to attempt something. You're
- 3:06Speaker 1: gonna have to first try, But I want you to
- 3:09Speaker 1: change your mind set from trying to getting it done. See,
- 3:15Speaker 1: that's a big difference. I'm really more apt to listen
- 3:18Speaker 1: to the person that says to me, I'm gonna get
- 3:21Speaker 1: it done. I'm gonna try. What try does is it
- 3:24Speaker 1: allows you to fail. It's the person that has the
- 3:28Speaker 1: mindset that I'm gonna get it done is the person
- 3:31Speaker 1: who changes the complexion of things. I'm gonna get it done.
- 3:35Speaker 1: It's very different than I'm gonna try. You know. Look, man,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I know this sounds a little harsh, but you gotta
- 3:43Speaker 1: stop feeding yourself these little old wise sayings that ain't
- 3:48Speaker 1: It was a valiant tribe. Hey man, You talk to
- 3:51Speaker 1: anybody that took second place in the super Bowl and
- 3:55Speaker 1: see how they feel about their valiant try. The only
- 3:58Speaker 1: way to gain God's real blessings is you have to
- 4:05Speaker 1: try something. Stevie backpedaling, Now, listen to me close. You
- 4:13Speaker 1: have to put forth an effort to allow God to
- 4:20Speaker 1: put his finger on something to bless on your behalf.
- 4:25Speaker 1: You must start to attempt now insane getting it done,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and I'm gonna try. That's a difference of two different
- 4:33Speaker 1: faiths to me that I'm just talking about me. Now
- 4:37Speaker 1: you may be different, so I can't. I can't say
- 4:39Speaker 1: this about you, but I can't say this about me.
- 4:44Speaker 1: If I say I'm gonna get it done, I have
- 4:48Speaker 1: a lot of faith in it. I am going to
- 4:52Speaker 1: get it done because I just don't see failure as
- 4:55Speaker 1: an option. A lot of times now, if somebody says
- 4:59Speaker 1: to me, like the Olympic team invited me out to
- 5:02Speaker 1: curl one day, which is throw these stones on the ice.
- 5:06Speaker 1: If you're not familiar with it's very simple, and so
- 5:09Speaker 1: I said, man, I'd like to give that a try.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I went in full well knowing I may not come
- 5:19Speaker 1: away from this little curling lesson as a person who
- 5:24Speaker 1: could make the Olympic team. I just wanted to try
- 5:27Speaker 1: it because I thought it looked cool and I always
- 5:29Speaker 1: wanted to get it done. Well. I failed twice. I
- 5:33Speaker 1: threw a stone completely into the other lane. I lost
- 5:37Speaker 1: that little ice shoe. It shot out under me. But
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know what, I kept trying though. I kept trying
- 5:45Speaker 1: until I got four of them stones in that circle
- 5:48Speaker 1: right where I ain't. But now had I give it
- 5:51Speaker 1: up after I failed, after I threw that stone in
- 5:55Speaker 1: the other lane, after I shot my shoe down all
- 5:59Speaker 1: the way to the bar, I'm side the little ice
- 6:00Speaker 1: shoe they give you. I never would did it. But
- 6:03Speaker 1: because I was trying. Something got me together a little
- 6:08Speaker 1: bit because of my effort, and it caused me not
- 6:11Speaker 1: to fall the next time, not to throw it into
- 6:13Speaker 1: other lane, not to shoot my shoe to the back
- 6:16Speaker 1: of the wall. All of a sudden, my trying became something.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Now had I stayed out there and it wasn't so cold,
- 6:25Speaker 1: and I went back week after week after week after week.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I promise you I could get it done. I could
- 6:33Speaker 1: at least know how to compete in a game of curling.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Might not be the best. I might not win the championship,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but I could have got it done to the point
- 6:43Speaker 1: where I could have competed in the game of curling.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So sometimes if you're scared to say I'm gonna get
- 6:48Speaker 1: it done, just go out there and get started. You know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: learn from every attempt that you make. See, don't quit
- 6:57Speaker 1: writing yourself off as a failure every time something don't
- 7:00Speaker 1: go right. When I failed on that ice, I could
- 7:02Speaker 1: have said, Man, I can't curl, but hold up, man,
- 7:05Speaker 1: I'm watching four other women out here curl for other
- 7:07Speaker 1: dudes out here curling, little kids out here curling. Hold up, Pardner,
- 7:11Speaker 1: you know, man. So I learned when I threw that
- 7:14Speaker 1: stone on the other ice, when I when I fail,
- 7:17Speaker 1: when when my shoe shot off, I learned from every
- 7:20Speaker 1: attempt a little bit more about it. And then I
- 7:25Speaker 1: said to myself at one point time, man, I'm gonna
- 7:28Speaker 1: get this stone in that circle. I'm gonna get this
- 7:31Speaker 1: stone in this circle. And guess what I got it done.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Now what you're saying to me, Steve, I'm saying to
- 7:39Speaker 1: you that you gotta get started, that you gotta put
- 7:42Speaker 1: forth an effort. Give God something to bless. Oh God,
- 7:45Speaker 1: bless me, Oh God, bless me. Bless you? What? Bless you? Where?
- 7:50Speaker 1: Bless you? How? Stop basing your results on what you're thinking.
- 7:55Speaker 1: You gotta think higher. You get God in your life, man,
- 7:58Speaker 1: He allows you to think high, bigger, better more. I'm
- 8:03Speaker 1: sitting up in my debt. I came up with a
- 8:05Speaker 1: plan to get out of debt in five years. I
- 8:08Speaker 1: came up with this plan, right, I was sitting up
- 8:10Speaker 1: and I was tripping on it. Now, I said, wait
- 8:12Speaker 1: a minute, man, hold up, this is what I came
- 8:15Speaker 1: up with. I said. God created heaven and earth, all
- 8:21Speaker 1: of it, the mountains, the sky, the valleys, the oceans, trees,
- 8:26Speaker 1: the birds, the Indian Ocean, all of it, made all
- 8:30Speaker 1: of it in six days, and then he rested on
- 8:35Speaker 1: the seven. So why am I taking to God the
- 8:40Speaker 1: five year plan? If he can create heaven and earth
- 8:46Speaker 1: in six days, why am I walking in there talking
- 8:48Speaker 1: about helped me in five years? How is it gonna
- 8:52Speaker 1: take God five years to getting me out of debt?
- 8:57Speaker 1: And he made heaven and earth in six days? Dude,
- 8:59Speaker 1: the man half hill man, I ain't that big. You
- 9:03Speaker 1: ain't that big. You ain't in that much trouble. I
- 9:06Speaker 1: ain't in that much trouble. See, God got a way
- 9:09Speaker 1: of showing you some things, man, but it's gonna take
- 9:12Speaker 1: some faith, and faith gonna take some effort on your part. Man,
- 9:15Speaker 1: Get out and do something. Man, you God will bless
- 9:18Speaker 1: you a little bit and give you a little bit
- 9:20Speaker 1: more courage. And then all them attempts you making is
- 9:23Speaker 1: gonna and all that. So I'll try you know what
- 9:25Speaker 1: that turn into. I'm gonna get it done. And at
- 9:27Speaker 1: the end of the day, that's what you have to do,
- 9:30Speaker 1: because trying to pay your rent and not paying your rent,
- 9:34Speaker 1: it's two different things. You can try to play or
- 9:37Speaker 1: pay your rent, or you can get it done. Now,
- 9:39Speaker 1: how long you think you're gonna stay in that house trying.
- 9:42Speaker 1: You got to go with the mindset of getting it done.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And if you can put some stuff out there and
- 9:47Speaker 1: give God a chance to put his finger on it
- 9:48Speaker 1: and bless it for you the most stuff he can
- 9:50Speaker 1: do for you. Quit looking around what everybody else got
- 9:53Speaker 1: and gonna get some of it for yourself. Okay, all right,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you're listening show, ladies and gentlemen, it's about to go down.
- 10:05Speaker 1: The Steve Harvey Morning Show is live in living color
- 10:10Speaker 1: this morning. The reason we say this show is in
- 10:13Speaker 1: living color is because most of us have color in
- 10:17Speaker 1: our skin. Yeah, that is the case with most people.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So we are now going to stop calling people white
- 10:27Speaker 1: because they have color too. This show is live in
- 10:33Speaker 1: living color for people of all colors. That's the announcement
- 10:39Speaker 1: we're making today. I know it don't make no difference.
- 10:43Speaker 1: It ain't gonna change nothing. But that's the statement I
- 10:47Speaker 1: decided to use to open the show, The Steve Harvey
- 10:53Speaker 1: Morning Show, Live in living vivid color. All right, surely strong,
- 11:02Speaker 1: good morning color for real and living color. Good morning.
- 11:09Speaker 1: What's up crew kill Junior Space, My black behind is

- 11:46Speaker 1: day to day. Yeah, feel pretty good? Excited. Listen to
- 11:55Speaker 1: radio still here? Can I say something? I want to
- 12:00Speaker 1: say something to all the listeners out there? Okay, Radio
- 12:04Speaker 1: to me is the one format that I have where
- 12:09Speaker 1: I can really be my natural self. I mean your
- 12:13Speaker 1: natural black. I mean you understand what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I mean every black or my black behind. Yeah. And man,
- 12:33Speaker 1: that's the beauty of it for me. Yeah. And so
- 12:37Speaker 1: you know, look, I know I got other things I'm
- 12:39Speaker 1: always doing. I'm just that person though I'm probably not
- 12:42Speaker 1: gonna stop being an active person career wise or any
- 12:46Speaker 1: other wise. So, but radio, man is just a big
- 12:48Speaker 1: intricral part of my life. Man, I just love sitting
- 12:52Speaker 1: here saying some of the things I think. I can't
- 12:54Speaker 1: express my viewpoint on either any of my other shows.
- 12:58Speaker 1: So radio is it for me. I just wanted to
- 12:59Speaker 1: say that clearly, a man. Let y'all know what it
- 13:02Speaker 1: matters that it matters to me. It really does. Well,
- 13:05Speaker 1: that's good, Stephen, And you've always been that way. I mean,
- 13:08Speaker 1: you know you you change radio a lot, creative reality radio.

- 13:52Speaker 1: the legend herself. But right now, this debate between Popeyes
- 13:57Speaker 1: and Chick fil At this is just an ongoing war here.
- 14:01Speaker 1: And Tommy, Tommy, have you found telling on Facebook? What
- 14:05Speaker 1: is this? What's going on? Listen? I found this brother.
- 14:08Speaker 1: He is actually preaching and I'm talking about the cadence
- 14:12Speaker 1: the hope that this boy got is incredible. He is
- 14:15Speaker 1: preaching about what's better Popeyes are chick for late. You
- 14:19Speaker 1: gotta listen to because at the end he gonna tell
- 14:21Speaker 1: you which one, because he's actually sitting there and he's
- 14:24Speaker 1: taking a bite out of both sandwiches. When you get through,
- 14:28Speaker 1: he gonna tell you exactly which one has won the content.
- 14:31Speaker 1: His name is Pastor Fred Thomas. Check him out. Good afternoon,
- 14:37Speaker 1: my brothers and sisters. I have seen over the course
- 14:45Speaker 1: of the morning that that is a debate over whether
- 14:54Speaker 1: the Popeyes sandwich is better then chick Fully, So I
- 15:03Speaker 1: thought I would do something now. I had to clear
- 15:06Speaker 1: the air. That's what I do. I clear the air. Nah.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I took it upon myself just to see, yuh, which
- 15:23Speaker 1: one nah saying is the best one for me? Yeah?
- 15:35Speaker 1: Abs them all. I'm going to try the familiar one
- 15:44Speaker 1: shit Fully, whom we know so well clothes on the
- 15:52Speaker 1: sub Sunday, which some will disagree. That's on side of
- 16:00Speaker 1: there him, But we're not here to talk. Theological difference
- 16:05Speaker 1: is that we're here to talk about chicken dandages. Yeah,
- 16:18Speaker 1: so here we go. Mm hmmmm, just what I thought
- 16:30Speaker 1: it would be, Just like I thought he would be.
- 16:36Speaker 1: It's good on the time every time I tried, and
- 16:46Speaker 1: never never let me down. But you know what I do.

- 17:55Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Pipas you got some skin in the game. Man.
- 18:18Speaker 1: You win, you win, you win, you win. I think
- 18:38Speaker 1: we know who the winner is now in the war
- 18:41Speaker 1: against Pope Eyes and Chick fil A, Pastor Fred Pastor,
- 18:46Speaker 1: Pastor Fred Thomas. By Pastor Thomas, he was taking him back,
- 18:58Speaker 1: Thomas the Masterize made the Steve Father lorded show the

- 19:06Speaker 1: You got to buy down and ship for you, alright.
- 19:09Speaker 1: He bit that sandwich twice. I sent it. I sent
- 19:14Speaker 1: it to my mom, and my mama called me. He said, boy,
- 19:16Speaker 1: that boy preached that thing he showed, preached that thing.
- 19:23Speaker 1: You need to drive around those Popeyes and pass them
- 19:27Speaker 1: out to the people who are in those time right here.
- 19:37Speaker 1: He's just like I thought it was what he tol.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Always never let me down. Man, doing a new thing.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Four words. I said, come on, come on, pass sandwich
- 19:57Speaker 1: wards this p man, it's going down. And you know
- 20:04Speaker 1: these lines are this crazy. These lines are wrapped around
- 20:06Speaker 1: the building. Oh yeah, I've seen them. Yeah, anybody has.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Anybody tried to say, I haven't. Lines are too long,
- 20:14Speaker 1: can't get yes, I have you have? Yeah? You like it?
- 20:18Speaker 1: Oh my Musard likes to Popeyes one too. I like
- 20:21Speaker 1: both of them, though I ain't gonna front. I like
- 20:23Speaker 1: both of them. I'm not mad at Chick fil A's
- 20:25Speaker 1: and I like Popeyes. I like I like Chick fil
- 20:28Speaker 1: a attitude. Here they work. Oh yeah, service it stop,
- 20:34Speaker 1: it really is. I love it. I saw get Kim
- 20:38Speaker 1: Cole's Instagram today. She had you know she was in
- 20:42Speaker 1: um uh in Living Single with Queen Latifa. She had
- 20:46Speaker 1: the living single cast with Popeyes, loving Popeyes and friends

- 21:26Speaker 1: is hello? He man? Who whoo? Who is the person
- 21:30Speaker 1: I need to talk to about? I got a pizza
- 21:33Speaker 1: that's been messed up? Who do I need to talk to? Well,
- 21:36Speaker 1: you could talk to Misha. What's going on? What happened
- 21:38Speaker 1: in Pizzabardy puts some fan shobies on my pizza? Black people? Fanchovies? Man? Who? Who? Who?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Who would do that? Who would put a channels? That
- 21:52Speaker 1: settled out with the language? That pal all right? You
- 21:54Speaker 1: know if you got answobies on your pizza, he just
- 21:58Speaker 1: must have gotten mixed up with another water. I'll say
- 22:00Speaker 1: another teach. It ain't a big deal. But I ain't
- 22:02Speaker 1: asking the antrophies man. Might the fact? Let me ask you?
- 22:06Speaker 1: So what the does the ant shoby any damn way?
- 22:09Speaker 1: It's like a sardine. That's what a man chovy is. Okay, Pal,
- 22:13Speaker 1: take the sardine. Hey, hey, hey, let me tell you something. Man.
- 22:17Speaker 1: First of all, what's your name? What is your name?

- 22:22Speaker 1: damn pizza place. Yeah, I owned the damn pizza place.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And I don't need people calling me and cursing it

- 22:32Speaker 1: you get in some handchovihies on your pizza. Hey man, Hey, okay,
- 22:35Speaker 1: So here's the deal. I don't had a bunch of
- 22:37Speaker 1: guests coming to mind or all the pizzas, and every
- 22:40Speaker 1: last one of them got manchopies on them. You know
- 22:43Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So I got an issue with it.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I have spent over fifty dollars with you with these pizzas,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and in the great wrong that nobody likes anchovies. No

- 23:03Speaker 1: black people before. Okay, the black people that I know
- 23:08Speaker 1: don't eat and shobies. Okay, well then we'll save you
- 23:12Speaker 1: some pizzas without any and chobies on him. You know what,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I don't like your I don't like your attitude. You
- 23:17Speaker 1: know what, man, if you didn't come to me with

- 23:56Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, man, in the next three to
- 23:58Speaker 1: five minutes, open to walk down there and kick you
- 24:00Speaker 1: little fe putting man shobies on here and having a
- 24:03Speaker 1: little puppet attitude like you think you can't get joy.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You come on down here, okay, and we'll see. Do
- 24:12Speaker 1: me a favor, go yourself and then want you rowed
- 24:15Speaker 1: in on. Okay, I'm bringing it on down here, all right.
- 24:18Speaker 1: We'll take care of it there stalking man shobes up.

- 24:25Speaker 1: all right, cool, okay, okay, okay, you'd like to say,
- 24:28Speaker 1: okay a lot? Do you do your words? Okay? You
- 24:32Speaker 1: need to have somebody there which you when I get there,
- 24:35Speaker 1: because I promise you, g Off, you don't shake it
- 24:39Speaker 1: in his boats. Pound me and my aunt chovies. We're
- 24:42Speaker 1: sitting here scared out of our minds right now. Okay,

- 24:53Speaker 1: who you're talking to? I'm puppeted something, an idiot. We
- 24:56Speaker 1: don't know how to talk. That's what I'm talking though. No,

- 25:04Speaker 1: Mister Gino, you just got freak. You're telling me I'm
- 25:11Speaker 1: throwing a bombs all over the radio. You're topping the
- 25:16Speaker 1: bombs all over the radio. Baby, Who I want to know?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Who did this to me? Because they're getting some f bombs.

- 25:42Speaker 1: Black people don't need the Anthoby Baby. Hey, I gotta
- 25:45Speaker 1: ask you this, missus, Gino, what is the baddest and
- 25:48Speaker 1: I mean the baddest radio show in the land? Your show?
- 25:54Speaker 1: The baddest radio show in the land is the Steve
- 25:57Speaker 1: Harvey Show with no one. I mean, I'll be sad.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm going to send you some pizzas. I'm sending that
- 26:07Speaker 1: station dozens of pieces with ant double antrovies and every
- 26:11Speaker 1: one of them. No antovies. Anybody want to antos? Only pizchas? Anybody, No,

- 26:37Speaker 1: spinach on there, like I feel like I'm doing something healthy.
- 26:39Speaker 1: I don't know if I doubt it, but I think
- 26:41Speaker 1: I'm doing something I doubted bear. You put the spinach
- 26:45Speaker 1: with all the meat, all this meat and cheese, meat
- 26:50Speaker 1: on you know your piece ain't supposed to be that heavy.
- 26:52Speaker 1: You can't even see the bread. It's just why do
- 26:55Speaker 1: they have why do they have meat lovers? If you
- 26:57Speaker 1: don't want it? Why why can't you order? Just order meat? Okay,
- 27:02Speaker 1: just order meat, because that's all we see when we
- 27:04Speaker 1: get the pizza that you order. So what kind of
- 27:07Speaker 1: people like my son? He don't want to cheese pizza?
- 27:09Speaker 1: We got pizza you want? I like cheese and pepperoni, pepperoni, pepperoni,
- 27:15Speaker 1: or a veggie pizza pep Okay, we're gonna get pepperoni.
- 27:20Speaker 1: We're gonna have to get it tanged three and get
- 27:22Speaker 1: some more meat on this. Damn. I like blue male
- 27:26Speaker 1: knowledge or classic sausage. And do you load it on there? Now?
- 27:33Speaker 1: Don't they make it when you ordering steam? And let's
- 27:42Speaker 1: not act like you don't have a pizza oven uh
- 27:44Speaker 1: at your house because we know your hair with yea.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I stopped making pizzas. I stopped making them. When Marjorie
- 27:52Speaker 1: bought all the fixings and put them on the counter.
- 27:55Speaker 1: All of us was sitting around with our dog rolled
- 27:57Speaker 1: out and we made out pizza. I put every thing
- 28:00Speaker 1: on my pizcha. It was so damned trifully at ragged
- 28:07Speaker 1: ass peacha I had. It wasn't worth a quarter shrimp.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Don't go with salami and sausage in chicken it. Uh God,
- 28:25Speaker 1: I made a mesh. My peacha looked like trash. Taste
- 28:29Speaker 1: like trash. You ever had pineapples on yours? Yeah? Man?
- 28:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah. When you move out to LA, that's like
- 28:37Speaker 1: the first thing you do is get pineapples on it.
- 28:41Speaker 1: I never heard of it before that though. Yeah. I
- 28:43Speaker 1: didn't like that. I didn't like burst the fruit. That
- 28:46Speaker 1: didn't that didn't expect it wasn't a quired taste. It was, yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 1: not necessarily Canadian bacon, which is really Canadian ham with pineapples,
- 28:59Speaker 1: some black olives. Yeah, and a little hallapeno on it. Well,
- 29:03Speaker 1: you better get up out of here. Yeah all right, guys.
- 29:13Speaker 1: So coming up at the top of the hour, legendary
- 29:15Speaker 1: actress Felicia Rashot is in the building. She's sitting in
- 29:19Speaker 1: with us right after this. You're listening, all right, everybody
- 29:27Speaker 1: asked promise we got a very very special guest this morning.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I love talking to this woman. Uh, she's such a
- 29:34Speaker 1: class act and such a professional and just has maintained
- 29:40Speaker 1: over the years. I'm talking about at such a level
- 29:42Speaker 1: of excellence. Just something for us all to be proud of. Uh.
- 29:46Speaker 1: She has been dubbed the mother of the Black community
- 29:51Speaker 1: at the two thousand ten NACP Image Awards and is
- 29:55Speaker 1: most notably known UH as that since her legendary role
- 30:00Speaker 1: is Claire Huxtable on the Causby Shows. She's got a
- 30:03Speaker 1: new TV show on the own network and it's uh
- 30:07Speaker 1: David makes Man. Uh. This new show's received some critically
- 30:12Speaker 1: acclaimed reviews since its premiere. Everybody's talking about it. The
- 30:17Speaker 1: buzz is out and we need to find out all
- 30:19Speaker 1: about David makes Man. Please welcome to the show, ladies
- 30:23Speaker 1: and gentlemen. The one and only excuse me for saying this.
- 30:27Speaker 1: My girl, the fabulous missus Felicia was shocked. All right,
- 30:32Speaker 1: thank you? How are you doing the day? Great man?
- 30:41Speaker 1: It's always good to have you out. When I found
- 30:43Speaker 1: out I could talk to you, I said, man, please,
- 30:45Speaker 1: can I can we get on the show? You have
- 30:48Speaker 1: meant so much over the years to so many people.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Do you do you get a sense of what your
- 30:56Speaker 1: role on that show meant over the years and how
- 30:58Speaker 1: it inspired people in a fact to people normally when
- 31:02Speaker 1: I'm walking around, you know, it isn't something that I
- 31:05Speaker 1: think about, But in the supermarket and a parking lot,
- 31:10Speaker 1: on the sidewalk in front of a theater, or just
- 31:13Speaker 1: meeting people casually, inevitably, inevitably, I hear I went to
- 31:19Speaker 1: college because of Oh, our family did this because of
- 31:25Speaker 1: I'm doing this today because we were introduced to music
- 31:29Speaker 1: technology that we knew nothing about. Because I don't know
- 31:33Speaker 1: whether you know, but your show inspired these hip hop
- 31:36Speaker 1: artists because it is gratifying and it is humbling, because
- 31:40Speaker 1: as an actor, you could do any number of things
- 31:42Speaker 1: that don't mean anything to anybody. But to have participated
- 31:47Speaker 1: and to continue to participate in work that has such
- 31:52Speaker 1: great meaning for people, I just I couldn't ask for more. Yes,
- 31:58Speaker 1: it is that. Yes, that's really real. That's really real.
- 32:02Speaker 1: It takes other people, oftentimes to make you realize the
- 32:07Speaker 1: effect you've had on him and had on him, and
- 32:09Speaker 1: you have done just that. And we got a new
- 32:12Speaker 1: project now, so let me ask you a couple of
- 32:15Speaker 1: questions about this. This new show is called David Makes Mad,
- 32:19Speaker 1: and it's following A fourteen year old named David is
- 32:24Speaker 1: played by a Kill McDowell, who tries to juggle relationships
- 32:30Speaker 1: between his magnet school friends he goes to a special
- 32:33Speaker 1: magnet school and the drug dealers in his South Florida
- 32:38Speaker 1: impoverished neighborhood. Tell us more about the show. This show David. Yes,
- 32:43Speaker 1: David is our central character, and it's about him and
- 32:47Speaker 1: the world around him. There is a universe of characters
- 32:52Speaker 1: and people in this show, the likes of which you
- 32:55Speaker 1: have never seen on television, never presented so unapologetically human.
- 33:04Speaker 1: It is when I when I was told that Terrell
- 33:10Speaker 1: Alvin McCraney had created this show. And you know, Terrell
- 33:13Speaker 1: Alvin McCraney received the Oscar for his screenplay of Moonlight.
- 33:19Speaker 1: I had I had appeared in one of his theatrical works,
- 33:23Speaker 1: um Head of Passes. When they told me that he
- 33:26Speaker 1: had written this, I said, well, that's it. Yes, I
- 33:29Speaker 1: want to do it. Yes, And it is. It is.
- 33:34Speaker 1: It is a most exquisite experience because these David and
- 33:41Speaker 1: the people in the ville, that's that area that he
- 33:45Speaker 1: lives in. These are the people who live on the
- 33:48Speaker 1: fringes of society. These are the people that are ignored.
- 33:54Speaker 1: These are the people that you pass on the street
- 33:57Speaker 1: and don't even give the time a day. And that's
- 34:00Speaker 1: such a mistake. It's such a mistake. This is an
- 34:05Speaker 1: exploration of a human journey. This young boy is trying
- 34:12Speaker 1: to do so many things. He's trying to make his
- 34:15Speaker 1: way through through junior high school to get into a
- 34:20Speaker 1: great high school that's not in his neighborhood because it's
- 34:26Speaker 1: a magnet school and it's got these great programs and
- 34:28Speaker 1: this is where he'd like to go. And he's also
- 34:34Speaker 1: he's trying to take care of his little brother and
- 34:38Speaker 1: fend for his mother, who's a recovering drug addict. Wow. Yes,
- 34:44Speaker 1: she's tried, and she is trying very hard. She is
- 34:49Speaker 1: really giving it her all because of her love for
- 34:52Speaker 1: her sons and what she wants for them, and it's
- 34:56Speaker 1: not easy. And then he has to walk through this
- 35:00Speaker 1: community of people who are not going to the school
- 35:04Speaker 1: that he goes to, so he you see him visually.
- 35:08Speaker 1: I love this show because of its visual aspects as well.
- 35:11Speaker 1: It is visually stunning. Oh wow, you see him walking
- 35:15Speaker 1: through his neighborhood looking, you know, in all directions to
- 35:21Speaker 1: clear a space to put on his tie. And we're
- 35:25Speaker 1: talking about a fourteen year old kid here having to
- 35:27Speaker 1: go through all of this, and to get his brother
- 35:30Speaker 1: to school one time, and always missing the bus and
- 35:34Speaker 1: getting there just in the nick of time to go
- 35:36Speaker 1: to class, trying to hold it together. And then he
- 35:39Speaker 1: has to live in this community. And you see all
- 35:44Speaker 1: in the drug dealers. They're human too, They've got stories
- 35:50Speaker 1: and backstories too. It is something as a woman, I'm
- 35:54Speaker 1: so proud to be a part of it, because these
- 35:58Speaker 1: are things we need to pay attention to. All Right,
- 36:01Speaker 1: we'll have more with Felicia Rashad coming up at twenty
- 36:04Speaker 1: minutes after the hour. Right after this. You're listening, Dave.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Our special guest today is legendary actress We love her,
- 36:15Speaker 1: Felicia Rashad. Felicia is here to tell us about her
- 36:19Speaker 1: role on the brand new television series and does show
- 36:22Speaker 1: on the Old Network. It's called David Makes Man. The
- 36:26Speaker 1: way you're telling it, you've making me want to turn
- 36:29Speaker 1: the TV on right now and watch it. Oh my god,
- 36:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, quite compelling. Yeah, it's it's it is that.
- 36:37Speaker 1: It is that and and and David has a very
- 36:39Speaker 1: good friend who lives on the other side of town,
- 36:43Speaker 1: who's in a very lovely home. And you just think
- 36:46Speaker 1: everything is fine. Keep thinking that, Keep thinking that as
- 36:51Speaker 1: you watch episode after episode after episode, keep thinking that.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Now it's a marvelous work of art. So let me
- 36:59Speaker 1: ask you this right here now, you play doctor woods Trap. Yes,
- 37:03Speaker 1: and you're this kid, David's teacher at this magnet school
- 37:09Speaker 1: that he got bus two and you're one of those
- 37:12Speaker 1: teachers that you kind of remember for the rest of
- 37:15Speaker 1: your life. How so, and what effect do you have
- 37:19Speaker 1: on David's outlook as he's wrestling with this conflict. Yes,
- 37:27Speaker 1: Doctor woods Trap sees the light of his intellect and
- 37:31Speaker 1: she is determined that it must shine and that nothing
- 37:36Speaker 1: must hinder it. But she has some obstacles, and David
- 37:40Speaker 1: himself is one of them. Sometimes. You know, my mother
- 37:47Speaker 1: once told me. My mother said, you have to fight
- 37:49Speaker 1: for your children, and she said sometimes the biggest fight
- 37:51Speaker 1: is going to be with your children for them. So
- 37:56Speaker 1: that's that's one thing. Um. She gives her all to
- 38:01Speaker 1: all of her students. She really resonates with them. She
- 38:04Speaker 1: understands her language, he understands the music they listen to.
- 38:08Speaker 1: She can speak to them on their own level, but
- 38:10Speaker 1: she's always raising them up to hers. She does not
- 38:15Speaker 1: dismiss them at all. She wants David to go to
- 38:20Speaker 1: this very special school because she knows what it would
- 38:22Speaker 1: mean for him. She really knows that education is his
- 38:27Speaker 1: road because he's brilliant and she sees that and as parents,
- 38:34Speaker 1: we can all relate to that. Did we mention that
- 38:37Speaker 1: this show is produced Steve by Oprah and Michael B.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Jordan and you played his mom and Creed? Right? Yeah? Yeah,
- 38:46Speaker 1: so they produced it. So exciting, it's okay, So let's
- 38:53Speaker 1: get to this part. Yeah, we got a few episodes
- 38:56Speaker 1: in right now, and this is obviously this is a
- 39:00Speaker 1: muscy show, and we're starting to see after a few
- 39:04Speaker 1: episodes how David he's got to choose between the streets
- 39:07Speaker 1: that raised him or his high education that's being offered
- 39:11Speaker 1: him to a way out. What can we expect in
- 39:14Speaker 1: tonight's episode? Oh, I don't want to tell you if
- 39:20Speaker 1: you tell us so well, no, wow, We'll have more
- 39:26Speaker 1: with the incredible Felicia Rashad at thirty four after the
- 39:31Speaker 1: hour right after this you're listening, well, if you're just
- 39:37Speaker 1: joining us, legendary actress Felicia Rashad, it's our very special
- 39:40Speaker 1: guest this morning. She's here to tell us about her
- 39:43Speaker 1: brand new TV series TV show on own Network. It's
- 39:46Speaker 1: called David Makes Man, And we'll find out what elsemis
- 39:50Speaker 1: Rashad is working on as well. She's in the building,
- 39:52Speaker 1: sitting right here next to us. We love her, all right, Steve,
- 39:56Speaker 1: come on, now, you've been real theatrical here. You're taking
- 40:00Speaker 1: a hood boy like me a little bit too far.
- 40:03Speaker 1: You're going to see this life continuing to unfold. You're
- 40:07Speaker 1: going to see the people around him, the people that
- 40:09Speaker 1: he interacts with, how they how they impact him, what
- 40:13Speaker 1: that means, how he maneuvers. You're going to see all
- 40:16Speaker 1: of it continues. It's like the most beautiful flower that
- 40:20Speaker 1: is unfolding, and it's got so many petals and layers
- 40:24Speaker 1: before you get down into the pollen. M and you
- 40:28Speaker 1: go get down into the pollen unfolded the flower to
- 40:33Speaker 1: get down to the No, no, no, come on, come on,
- 40:41Speaker 1: come on down into the pollen of the flower. That's right,
- 40:45Speaker 1: that's right. Nature put it there for a reason. We're
- 40:48Speaker 1: supposed to know about these things. Yeah, I shouldn't have
- 40:51Speaker 1: been here feeling way more intelligent than Come on, Steve Harper.
- 40:56Speaker 1: You one of the most intelligent people I know. Wow, man,
- 41:02Speaker 1: you know what. Talking to you, man, it's so refreshing,
- 41:05Speaker 1: because you know, I gotta tell you something. You are
- 41:09Speaker 1: a living legend. That's what's special. And I'm glad that
- 41:13Speaker 1: we're able to tell this to you while people live.
- 41:17Speaker 1: You know, we wait till these great stars of ours
- 41:21Speaker 1: get somewhere and can't work no more and ain't working.
- 41:24Speaker 1: You're active, you got projects going, you're still doing movies
- 41:28Speaker 1: and everything. You still fly, And I just want you
- 41:31Speaker 1: to know from all of us and for the people
- 41:34Speaker 1: that you've affect the millions, that you have no idea
- 41:38Speaker 1: that we are sitting here talking to a living legend.
- 41:42Speaker 1: And I can't tell you how much we appreciate. Oh yeah,
- 41:44Speaker 1: I just want to thank you. So what other projects
- 41:54Speaker 1: are you working on? I am participating in my first
- 41:58Speaker 1: animated features on social media. Yeah, and I'm pretty excited
- 42:04Speaker 1: about that. It's Pixar movie and it's called Soul. Yes, yes,
- 42:09Speaker 1: and yeah yeah, and it's it's corscious, so much fun
- 42:16Speaker 1: to do. I thought about the other that I say, girl,
- 42:18Speaker 1: look at this, these are things you wanted to do,
- 42:21Speaker 1: and now you're doing them. You're you're actually doing them
- 42:24Speaker 1: and it's okay. And I just completed filming for a
- 42:28Speaker 1: Netflix Christmas movie, Jingle Jangle Okay, which is gonna come
- 42:34Speaker 1: out in twenty twenty. Um. Oh, when you see that,
- 42:39Speaker 1: you're gonna say it. Oh my goodnas. Oh, it's truly,
- 42:44Speaker 1: it's it's it's amazing. It's beautiful, so much beautiful work.
- 42:48Speaker 1: It starts Forrest Whittaker, Oh wow, Oh yeah, it's like that.
- 42:53Speaker 1: It's like that. And Egan Michael he can sing too that.
- 42:59Speaker 1: You do nothing for Hello. He was a trained opera singer.
- 43:03Speaker 1: That's all I've got to say. He was trained, honey,
- 43:08Speaker 1: and he can break out in some gospel that will
- 43:10Speaker 1: make you just hit everybody near you. Yes, yes, yes,
- 43:15Speaker 1: ain't told dam he's quiet, child, he's quiet. You know.
- 43:22Speaker 1: You gotta watch the quiet ones, you know, those ones,
- 43:25Speaker 1: with those those ones that are flapping all the time.
- 43:27Speaker 1: We know what they do. It's the quiet one. It's
- 43:34Speaker 1: such an honor. And for you to be so warm
- 43:37Speaker 1: and congenial, you know, you've handled your stardom with about
- 43:42Speaker 1: as much gracious as I've ever seen it done before.

- 43:49Speaker 1: out there, and I just, man, congratulations, thank you for
- 43:53Speaker 1: being you. If you. You really set the bar an
- 43:56Speaker 1: example for so many women of what they can accomplish
- 44:01Speaker 1: without without compromise. Felice Rasha, thank you so much, appreciate you.

- 46:20Speaker 1: realized that, Yes, I know, I'm sorry about that, but uh,
- 46:25Speaker 1: you know, yes I have. I have my reasons. So okay, okay,
- 46:29Speaker 1: Well here's what's going on. The officials at the church
- 46:31Speaker 1: have gotten together and This is what they've decided on,
- 46:34Speaker 1: is that anybody who is late starting next Sunday, there
- 46:39Speaker 1: would be a fifteen dollar charge for that for coming
- 46:42Speaker 1: in and disrupting services fastest fastest tide of service being
- 46:46Speaker 1: disrupted by people walking in late. That that could not
- 46:50Speaker 1: come at the worst time. I don't have fifteen dollars
- 46:53Speaker 1: to give. I don't I don't have it. Oh um, look,
- 47:00Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm sorry that we late. I am we
- 47:04Speaker 1: are doing our best. I have three kids, have three
- 47:07Speaker 1: young kids, two seven and nine, and they are a
- 47:11Speaker 1: handful and and and we do the best that we
- 47:14Speaker 1: can to get the church on time and and to
- 47:17Speaker 1: tell your truth when we get there. It's doing praise
- 47:20Speaker 1: and worships. I mean, Pass ain't even preaching yet, so
- 47:24Speaker 1: I know it's not Pass. It's not up yet, but
- 47:26Speaker 1: he's he's stating that people coming in. It just seems
- 47:29Speaker 1: very disrupted to the service that's going on. That's so Nevertheless,
- 47:32Speaker 1: like I said, this is a warning call, you know,
- 47:34Speaker 1: to let you know that if you are late on
- 47:37Speaker 1: next Sunday, then they will be charging you fifteen dollars
- 47:41Speaker 1: a late charge and actually you won't be able to
- 47:43Speaker 1: even come in until you until you pay, I can't
- 47:48Speaker 1: even get in church with we Look, okay, look I
- 47:51Speaker 1: don't I don't owe nothing. I don't owe you no explanation.
- 47:55Speaker 1: But I need to tell you something. We are me
- 47:58Speaker 1: and my kids for the last a few sundays that
- 48:01Speaker 1: we've been late. It's because my car broke down. We
- 48:05Speaker 1: are owned the bus man public transportation. Okay, I mean,
- 48:08Speaker 1: and I understand, I understand. I civiltize with everything that
- 48:11Speaker 1: you're going through. But why are you called if you understand?
- 48:13Speaker 1: Why are you calling me about fifteen dollars? If you
- 48:15Speaker 1: understand what I'm going through? Well I didn't. I first
- 48:17Speaker 1: of all, I didn't know what you would go. Why
- 48:19Speaker 1: are you raising your voice at me? Why are you?
- 48:22Speaker 1: Did you just raise your voice at me? You know what?
- 48:24Speaker 1: You know what I think? You're raising your voice at me?
- 48:27Speaker 1: How dare you call me about this? About a feat?
- 48:31Speaker 1: And I'm there at church. I got my key in
- 48:33Speaker 1: there trying to raise them up is where they should go,
- 48:36Speaker 1: just like the Bible say. And you know why I
- 48:39Speaker 1: gotta do this and why I'm lead? Why why we
- 48:41Speaker 1: gotta teesch the bus? Do you understand why that is?
- 48:44Speaker 1: Brother Glenn? No, I do not. That is because they
- 48:47Speaker 1: to their dad is ain't and they yes, Tracy, you
- 48:50Speaker 1: got to calm down a little bit now. Oh Jesus
- 48:53Speaker 1: help me. Jesus help me, Jesus. Okay, listen us. All
- 48:56Speaker 1: I can do is tell you this. I hope you
- 48:58Speaker 1: can make it. Maybe you can catch earlier bus, you
- 49:01Speaker 1: know what I mean, and get there a little earlier.
- 49:04Speaker 1: But but I'm just stating the fact that as of
- 49:06Speaker 1: next Sunday, if you come in late, it's fifteen dollars
- 49:09Speaker 1: late fee, and that's what you'll pay in order to
- 49:11Speaker 1: get in the service. You know what, Well, maybe next
- 49:14Speaker 1: Sunday I just won't be there, how about that. You
- 49:17Speaker 1: know I'm already work in six days a week. The
- 49:20Speaker 1: only day I have off is Sunday. I've been baking,
- 49:23Speaker 1: breaking my back. Do you know? I work two jobs
- 49:25Speaker 1: or two jobs, and they always trying to take money
- 49:27Speaker 1: out of my check, always trying to pull me here
- 49:30Speaker 1: and there, and I'm always tired. I get two hours
- 49:32Speaker 1: asleep and then now the church wants to dump another
- 49:34Speaker 1: fifteen dollars charging me for being at church. Well that's
- 49:38Speaker 1: what I'm supposed to do. But you're coming in late, though, Tracy,
- 49:42Speaker 1: you know what you know what late ain't bad? Okay,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I might be delayed, but I ain't denied, and I'm
- 49:49Speaker 1: getting there the best way that I know how the bus.
- 49:52Speaker 1: I have to put my kids on the school bus,
- 49:54Speaker 1: and not only I have to put them on the
- 49:55Speaker 1: school bus, and I have to get on the bus
- 49:57Speaker 1: myself to work because I don't have a car, because
- 49:59Speaker 1: they had ain't doing nothing nothing for them. Do you
- 50:02Speaker 1: understand what I'm saying to you? I need to understand
- 50:07Speaker 1: Daddy Daddy number one, guess what he daddy for two?
- 50:10Speaker 1: He and jail been there by five years he ain't
- 50:14Speaker 1: And Daddy number three he decided to go ahead and
- 50:17Speaker 1: walk out, ain't. I ain't heard from that in about
- 50:21Speaker 1: seven months now. He know we're struggling. He had the
- 50:24Speaker 1: nerve to take my wallet too. You don't. You don't
- 50:26Speaker 1: even understand what I'm going through. You don't even understand
- 50:28Speaker 1: that I'm trying to make a better life for me
- 50:30Speaker 1: and my children. There is one more thing, sister Tracy,
- 50:32Speaker 1: that the Church wants you to know before next Sunday
- 50:35Speaker 1: that you definitely need to know. What one more thing
- 50:38Speaker 1: does the Church want me to know? It's like sixteen dollars.
- 50:40Speaker 1: The church just wants you to know that. This is
- 50:42Speaker 1: nephew Tommy from the Steve Harvey Morning Joe. Your sister
- 50:45Speaker 1: Patrese got me to prank phone call you. I am
- 50:50Speaker 1: gonna walk huh, i' are you No, I ain't got
- 50:56Speaker 1: time for that. No, I ain't got time for that.
- 50:59Speaker 1: He got you right, Oh, I got something for her.
- 51:03Speaker 1: How about that? She said? She said, my sister Carbro.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Now she says she got these kids she over are
- 51:12Speaker 1: struggling and struggling and she's trying to make it. But
- 51:14Speaker 1: you gotta give a hard time. She just wanted she wanted.
- 51:17Speaker 1: She wanted you to put us. She wanted to put
- 51:19Speaker 1: a smile on your face. Well, well you wanted being
- 51:23Speaker 1: settled out, I'm gonna have to say she did. Right. Wow,
- 51:28Speaker 1: Now that I know you, y'all were joking and now
- 51:30Speaker 1: I know this is nephew Tommy. Hey, I gotta ask
- 51:36Speaker 1: you something, Baby, what's the baddest and I mean the
- 51:38Speaker 1: baddest radio show in the land now, Steve Harvid Morning Show, Baby,
- 51:46Speaker 1: Church Feed. That's all I'm saying. Somebody got to do it.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Pay your church fees. If you haven't paid your fees.
- 51:54Speaker 1: But there's the Blues and Jazz Supper Club. I will
- 51:57Speaker 1: be there Friday and Saturday too. On I two sad
- 52:01Speaker 1: little blues, little jazz, little supper and some Timmy on top.
- 52:05Speaker 1: You can't beat that right there. I just think that
- 52:07Speaker 1: that is just a beautiful setup. Blues, jass supper and
- 52:11Speaker 1: Tommy on top. Everybody said, man, amen, hey, where is
- 52:17Speaker 1: my congregation? I said, amen, amen. Angry pastor, hey, man, hey, yeah,
- 52:28Speaker 1: you ain't no past Everybody say amen please amen, amen,
- 52:40Speaker 1: an't you? Then shortly after that, I'll be in Greenville.

- 54:11Speaker 1: like we're gonna read this one right here, right now.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Buggle up, hold on tight. We got it for you. Here.
- 54:16Speaker 1: It is the Strawberry Letter. The subject this letter just
- 54:19Speaker 1: makes me laugh. My baby won't stop cussing. Junior says
- 54:23Speaker 1: it's about him. We'll see. Dear Stephen Shirley, I am
- 54:26Speaker 1: a twenty seven year old married woman with a two
- 54:29Speaker 1: year old son that won't stop cussin. Recently, whenever he
- 54:34Speaker 1: gets frustrated or upset, he starts cussing. If he falls
- 54:38Speaker 1: down and hurts himself. He cusses. If you tell him no,
- 54:42Speaker 1: he cusses. I assumed he was hearing these cuss words
- 54:46Speaker 1: from my husband because I don't cuss in front of him,
- 54:49Speaker 1: so he is not hearing it from me. My husband
- 54:52Speaker 1: swore to me that he has not been cussing in
- 54:54Speaker 1: front of him either, So I figured the only other
- 54:57Speaker 1: person it could be is my mother in law. I
- 55:00Speaker 1: asked her and she said, come on, Steve, you gotta
- 55:04Speaker 1: help me with this. She said here, yeah, that's what
- 55:12Speaker 1: she said. Yeah, she said that because he's a brat
- 55:17Speaker 1: when you're not around. I was shocked. I couldn't believe
- 55:20Speaker 1: that she can't find a way to discipline him without
- 55:22Speaker 1: using foul language. I want my son to have a
- 55:25Speaker 1: relationship with this grandmas, and she's a wonderful woman in
- 55:28Speaker 1: a lot of ways, but we don't see eye to
- 55:30Speaker 1: eye on this. She says she can't help it and
- 55:33Speaker 1: we should be teaching him to never repeat what he hears,
- 55:37Speaker 1: but he's a two year old and that's what small
- 55:39Speaker 1: children do. I told her that she should lead by example,
- 55:43Speaker 1: but she said when she is babysitting him, she will
- 55:45Speaker 1: do things her way. My husband is stuck in the middle,
- 55:48Speaker 1: and he has said his mom is sixty and said
- 55:52Speaker 1: in her way, so I said let it go, so
- 55:54Speaker 1: I should let it go. He says, we can teach
- 55:57Speaker 1: our son not to cuss when he is a little
- 55:59Speaker 1: older and understand. I have a problem with all of this. Yes,
- 56:03Speaker 1: his grandma is an authority figure, but it's my son.
- 56:06Speaker 1: So I say we go by my rules. I don't
- 56:09Speaker 1: want my baby cussing out his teachers as a daycare.
- 56:11Speaker 1: How should I resolve this? Am I wrong? Please advise?
- 56:15Speaker 1: I think you're a little bit too much on this issue. Okay,
- 56:19Speaker 1: your baby's only two, and I do agree with your husband.
- 56:23Speaker 1: I think you should wait until he's a little older
- 56:25Speaker 1: and he can understand. I know so many kids, little
- 56:29Speaker 1: young babies or children who used to cuss because that's
- 56:32Speaker 1: what they see. And children are sponges. We all know
- 56:35Speaker 1: that they repeat what they see and that's what they do.
- 56:38Speaker 1: And you're right. The mother in law, your husband's mom
- 56:42Speaker 1: is set in her ways, and she says when he's
- 56:46Speaker 1: with him, when he's with her, then they'll do things
- 56:49Speaker 1: her way. So that's that's how she puts the hammer down.
- 56:54Speaker 1: She cusses at him, and he probably obeys when she
- 56:57Speaker 1: does that. He knows what she means when he does that,
- 57:00Speaker 1: set when she does that. So I just say, you know,
- 57:04Speaker 1: loosen up just a little bit. Is going to get better.
- 57:07Speaker 1: When he gets older, he'll stop or at least understand
- 57:11Speaker 1: and not do it around you guys. At least you
- 57:14Speaker 1: can be hopeful for that. But yeah, the grandmother's not
- 57:18Speaker 1: gonna change. You. Continue not to cuts in front of
- 57:21Speaker 1: him and let him know every time he does it
- 57:23Speaker 1: that it's wrong. He's only two. He's only two. He's
- 57:27Speaker 1: going to grow and learn things. Don't worry. It's gonna
- 57:30Speaker 1: be all right. He's not gonna be at the daycare
- 57:32Speaker 1: cussing out the teachers and all of that. He's not
- 57:35Speaker 1: gonna do that. So, um, just relax on this issue
- 57:38Speaker 1: just a little bit. He's gonna be fine, okay, Steve. Well, Shirley, Yes,
- 57:44Speaker 1: I disagree with everything you said in this letter. I
- 57:49Speaker 1: hope you don't do you know him to give good advice,
- 57:53Speaker 1: but you missed it on this from good Baby Girl. See, Shirley,
- 57:56Speaker 1: the reason you missed it on this letter just because
- 57:59Speaker 1: you don't cuss. You need a cusser to talk about
- 58:06Speaker 1: a letter that's about cussing. See I'm a cusser, Yes
- 58:11Speaker 1: you are. My father was in the top three greatest
- 58:16Speaker 1: cussales of all time all through the Civil Rights movement, everything.
- 58:24Speaker 1: My daddy cuss sitting at the counters at Woolworth luncheon Cities.
- 58:30Speaker 1: My daddy was cussing Wold Connors with them German shepherds
- 58:34Speaker 1: and them fire hoses. My daddy was cussing. My daddy
- 58:41Speaker 1: got arrested. He was cussing. My daddy came to church,
- 58:44Speaker 1: he was cussing. So, Shirley, I'm sorry you missed this latter.
- 58:50Speaker 1: This twenty seven year old lady got this to ye
- 58:52Speaker 1: old boy that won't stop cussing when he gets frustrated
- 58:58Speaker 1: or upset. He hus I do too. When he falled
- 59:03Speaker 1: down and hurt itself. He cussed every time I fall
- 59:08Speaker 1: I could if I tell him no, he cuss. If
- 59:14Speaker 1: Marjorie tells me no, I couldn't. If my mama told
- 59:18Speaker 1: me no. Under my brother couldn't let her head though,
- 59:24Speaker 1: that's part. So she assumed that these cuss words was
- 59:28Speaker 1: coming from her husband, so she confronted him. He said
- 59:30Speaker 1: it wasn't her, so she got the thinking the only
- 59:32Speaker 1: other person he could be as my mother in law.
- 59:34Speaker 1: So I asked her, did she cuss around the boy?
- 59:38Speaker 1: She said, Hell, yeah, I cuss in front of his
- 59:41Speaker 1: little lag because here bratt when you're not around him.
- 59:48Speaker 1: So you got upset and thought that he should find
- 59:50Speaker 1: that she should find another way to discipline without using
- 59:53Speaker 1: full leather words. She's a wonderful woman. She's in a
- 59:57Speaker 1: lot of ways, but we don't see her not. She says,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I can't help it that y'all should be teaching him
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: to never repeat what he is and he's a two
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: year old and that's what children do. Well, Shirley said
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: in her response that you've got to light up. He's
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: only two and things like that. Well, Shirley, hold on,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: we come back. I'm gonna tell you why I disagree
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: with your statements. As I said, he cussin all right,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: hang on, I knew you would. We'll come back with
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: part two of Steve's response at twenty three after the hour.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: The subject of the letter is my baby won't stop cussing?
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Anne will Steve Harvey, We'll get into it right after this.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: You're listening to all right, Steve, come on, let's recap
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: today's Strawberry Letters, subject my baby won't stop cussing. Twenty
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: seven year old lady married got a little two year
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: old boy to cussin. This is my baby right now,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Get upset, Cuss when they falls, Cuss when he don't
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: get his way, Cuss if you tell him no sport,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: just cuss him. And you found out that it wasn't
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: a husband. So you went to the mother in law
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: and said, do you cuss in front of the baby?
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Her exact quote to this woman who wrote the letter, one, Hell, yeah,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I cuss in front of his little lass. That's your
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: favorite line in this whole letter, in this whole letter,
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: in any strawbery letter that we've ever done. Yeah, And uh,
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: you know, you talk to the mother and said, you
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: can't find another way to discipline him and everything. I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: don't want my son using five language. And then you know,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: you know that your mother in law is a wonderful
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: woman in a lot of ways, but y'all don't see
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: eye to eye. And your grandma, your mother said that
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: you should teach the boy to not to repeat what
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: he's heard. And then you said, but he's a two
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: year old and that's what small children do. Well, let
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: me explain something to you. Small children shouldn't be allowed
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: to cuss. Why don't you backhand is a little last
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: since he cuss. Yeah, that's what happened to me. Yeah, kid,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: here we go her, y'all see herry non cussom Yeah,
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: I said back you wh god cuss? Yeah? Oh my god? Backhand?
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: The baby? Cuse you? Not a cusso? Yeah, you don't
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: have cussing babies to knock his little last out exactly
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: what they do to you can surely come to talk
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: about he only two years old. You should wait till
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: he older. Let me tell you something. Cussing, cussing go deep? Yeah, no,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: And then lady at the end, am I wrong? No,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: You're not wrong because cussing go deep. I've been cussing
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: since I was foul. Okay really, and you feeling had
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: been cussing eight years? Slot solot outstanding combinations. I didn't
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: put together some combinations that ain't been heard before, and
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I've gotten results. If you don't stop this board from cussing,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: I got news for you. He's never gonna stop. He's not.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: You should nip it in the board right now. Cussing
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: is a habit and it's a hard habit to break. So, Shirley,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: I disagree. The lady is right. She has every right
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: to be upset. And the grandmama talking about when she
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: with him, she got to do it her way. Stop
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: cussing at the baby. Stop. But you know why your
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: son ain't gonna say nothing, because he knew when to
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: get his ass cussed out. He he know if he
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: going there to Burnard that and tell Burnard that, stop
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: all this cussin. Burnard dead burn nice blinkets burn Burn
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: nice beebe be So, Shirley, ask me some questions. I'm
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: gonna be a two year old. I'm gonna answer the question.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: Cussin and y'all bleep out to cussin. Come on, enough beeping,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: I know. Come on, it's time to get your bath
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: so you can go to bed. Come on, come on, Bobby,
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: I ain't taking no bath. Bobby, what's your mouth? Get
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: it and don't forget. I can see what Bobby I

- 1:07:25Speaker 1: to a conclusion after twelve long years. Meek Mill pleaded
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: guilty to a two thousand and seven misdemeanor gun charge yesterday.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: It's part of a plea deal. All other charges have
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: been dropped to prosecutors have agreed not to retry him
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: outside of Philly courthouse. Thank kan't thank you? Okay, finally
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: he can get a life now outside of Philly courthouse.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: Meek thank to supporters immediately after walking out of court.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Take a listen, be free probation. Yeah, I just wanted
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: to come up here myself and think, oh, that's snowboarders,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: because I don't y'all probably got family members in jail.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I want to do the same thing as me and
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I will continue to do what I do with the
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: reform one hope to help me. So I thank y'all
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: about it. You can hear a little bit of the
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: crop saying Meek free, Meek Free. Meek went on to
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: say that we have to continue to fight and be
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: a part of a much needed discussion about probation reform
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: and the inequalities that exist within our two Americas. Wow.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: So now the Meek Mill case is closed. Yeah, finally
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: you can get on with his life for real. Now.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Good job. Yeah, staying for something. You don't take something
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: negative that's happened to you and you know it to
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: be the driving for us to make you greater. I
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: support him. That's a good move. That is absolutely that's
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: good news. I love Remember that story he was talking
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: about he had to call check in with his probation
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: officer to go and see his son, to drive his
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: son to school. Now he doesn't have to worry about that. Yeah,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: his son lived in New Jersey. He's a filly yea. Yeah,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: but it's two different states, right exactly. Yeah, that's why
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: you need to check in. Yeah. Yeah, they are at
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: their later courtroom. Later. That's something else. Oh the judge, Yeah,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: judge man, Judge Brinkley's Brinkley. Yeah, well, want to weary
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: about her anymore. It's all good. Yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: That's all. Yeah, that's good news. And like Steve said,
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: you know, it's good. He can get on with his
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: life now. He's going to work for prison reform and
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: you know, help help other people that were in his
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: situation that are still in his situation. You know, he's
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: out now, but other people, you know, he can help.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: So that's a really good thing. Yeah, people helped him.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: I mean yeah, you know Jay Z, the owners of
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: the Philadelphia seventy six ers. I mean, you know, that's
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: how you get out of jail though, you know, on

- 1:15:35Speaker 1: because you don't want to miss it. December twenty first, Okay,

- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I love this, of course, Eddie. Yeah, you know he
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: rose to fame while working on the show from nineteen
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: eighty huh sure it nothing was greater all Saturday Night Live.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Saturday Night Live run of all Time, James
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: Brown and a Hot Time and who Shot Buck shot
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: Mann Gumby and mister Me Time, mister Man. The numbers
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: did you dies me times and made the name new
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: my n what we love you, Eddie m welcome. I
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: was at listening to book. We sang them all right,
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: more than Steve Harvey Morning Show coming up at thirty
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: three after the hour, right after this. You're listening, all right, guys,
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: junior's here with sports talk. Okay, so what is this
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: about Dwight Howard going to the Lakers? Yeah? This, this
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: right here don't make no sense to nobody because this
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: is the second goal around. Okay, you couldn't play with Kobe. Uh,
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: what makes you think you're gonna play with Lebron? Come
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: on too much? Dog, I'm telling you it's gonna demand
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: way more because he older too, and his patient's gonna
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: be short. So I know what I think the move
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: is about, though, Juniors, what is it? I think the
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Lakers is trying to get just somebody played a five
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: center position so Anthony Davis can roam a little bit more.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: That that could be what they do up. But it's
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: non guaranteed money. Now, you don't think they we'll see
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: what Dwight can do. Yeah, he's two point six million,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: non guarantee. He don't get a first check to October twenty. First,
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: that's the long ass time now to getting that written. Napty.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: I don't know what that means. Non guaranteed money, that
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: means right now as he signed his deal, he doesn't
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: get a check right now, he's checked the job or not. Yeah,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: he owned the roster, but he just owned that. They
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: passed out to check the everybody else over to something.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: It's summer money, that's what they call somebody. He's not
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: getting none of that. He don't get done until October twenty. Yeah,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: and so he's as long as he stays on the team,
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: then he can make about fourteenth thousand before the nine
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: at off per day, yeah, per game. Yeah. Plus also
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: you know Marcus tub He's like, what's per day? That's okay? Yeah, yea, yeah,
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: that's good. As long as he's stay on that team,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: he's gonna come in laughing and he gonna come in playing.
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: But best cannot turn the hyena into a line. You
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: see what he get. You see Lebron Jay did the Jr.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Smith when he brought up that ball and that that
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: finals goal. Yeah, when he keeps it, Okay, let the
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: White miss a rebound. I'm telling you, let him miss
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: a rebound called he's not gonna be there for him.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: Let him miss an. I don't understand getting help. Did
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: the Marcus Cousins go to the Lakers, Yeah he did.
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: He signed to the Lakes too, but he toys ac
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: he toys a cla again, yes, yes, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: Of course. I've been on vacation, so I haven't kept
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: up with anything at all. I don't even know what's
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: happening with the Browns. How the Browns look. I'm gonna
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: have to reinstate you when you get back. The Browns
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: is gonna be good. I really do think they're gonna
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: be good. I mean I really do. It's just they attitude.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: They're not playing man. Baker Mayfield. Yeah, Baker Mayfield, he
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: don't even talk like a rookie no more. He's serious. No,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: we're gonna tell y'all mouth, No, you're gonna be proud
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: of that. Not played him Cowboys this year or Houston,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: come on the Houston, come on, come all right, all right, listen, mommy,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: we need to shut up. We just lost thirty photo
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: nethogetical coming up of our last break of the day.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Don't know that Junior and some closing remarks from the
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey at forty nine minutes after
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: the hour. All right, after this, you're listening, all right, Steve.
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Here we are our last break of the day on
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: this Wednesday hump Day, hump Day. It's been a good
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: hump day, hump had some fun. Yeah. Yeah, it did
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: go by fast. Yeah, thanks of course to the legend herself.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Felicia was shot. Who was our special guest today? Yes, wow, Felicia.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: I know me too, but she came here and set
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: us straight. It's Felicia. Felicia was shot. Yell, I said
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: it yesterday. Yeah. Yeah, she was lovely. She was very lovely. Yeah. Um,
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: all right, Steve, time for you to take us home
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: with some You know, I was thinking about a couple
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: of things and I want to share something with you
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: all that I often feel myself sometimes. You know, you
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: hear old people say, and there's a scripture that says,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: you know, not for us to be anxious for anything.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Don't be anxious for anything. That simply means be patient,
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: don't jump the gun, don't get ahead of yourself, and
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: give God a chance to work. If you've put in
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: the work and you've made the meetings, and you've made
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: all the decisions that you've prayed about it, and you
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: find yourself just waiting on something to happen, then just
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: stay waiting and be patient. Don't be anxious for anything.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Every time I've ever been anxious, I've jumped the gun.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: I've gotten ahead of myself. And once even deeper than
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: that I got I stepped out in front of God.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: I'm out there so busy trying to direct traffic in
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: my own life, which I do not have the ability
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: to do. That I was all in the way of
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: what God could actually do for me. So that's my
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: takeaway when people say, don't be anxious for nothing, because
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: let me explain something to you. It is an amazing
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: thing that happens in life. When one door closes for you,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: you simply should just walk up the hall because there
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: are more doors. I am a living witness to this.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: God does it for me time and time and time again,
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: and I'm grateful. I'm grateful for being in a position
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: to experience some of His favor, his grace, and his mercies.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: And all of you, all of you, have been beneficiary,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: a beneficiary of His grace and mercy. All of you
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: whether you knew that's what it was or not. But
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: when something happens and you escape it, and you and
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: you didn't do nothing to escape it, that was God's
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: grace and mercy that he was just shining on you.
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: When it happened to everybody else but it didn't happen
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: to you. That was some grace and mercy he shined
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: on you. When it looks like you just wasn't gonna
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: get away out and you showed up next day and
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: you was out of it, that was God's grace and
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: mercy shining on you. Take advantage of that grace and mercy.
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: The best way to take advantage of it is to
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: be grateful. The more you're grateful for, the more things
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: he'll give you to be grateful for. And put your
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: eyes in the windshield instead of the rear view mirror.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: You cannot drive your car looking in the rear view mirror.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: Eyes to the front. Get in the windshield. Man. That's
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: why life is. But I tell you, here's something that
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: God sent to me, and it said simply something to
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: this effect that the life in front of you, it's
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: far more important than the life behind you. That's such
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: a true statement. The life in front of you, it's
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: far more important than the life behind you. And like
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: I was saying the other day, what stops so many people,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: it's the things that's behind them. They keep bringing them
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: to the forefront. I said it, and I'm gonna say
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: it again. What stops most people is they keep bringing
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: things from their past and behind them. They keep putting
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: them in the front, in the forefront, going over and
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: over and picking through it, trying to learn from your mistakes.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: If you made it pass your mistake, then you shouldn't
