- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Money Making Conversations Masterclass. I'm your host with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Sean McDonald. I recognized that we all have different definitions
- 0:05Speaker 1: of success. For you and may be the size of
- 0:07Speaker 1: your paycheck mineus inspired people to develop a plan to
- 0:10Speaker 1: reach their dreams. It's time to stop reading other people's
- 0:13Speaker 1: success stores and start writing your own. You can only
- 0:16Speaker 1: exceed the expectations by believing in yourself. People always talk
- 0:19Speaker 1: about their purpose or gifts. If you have a gift,
- 0:21Speaker 1: lead with your gifts and know that your friends, family,
- 0:24Speaker 1: or coworkers. Stop people planning or living your dreams. My
- 0:27Speaker 1: guest on the show is Tavanna Evans. She's the forty
- 0:31Speaker 1: seven Uh you know New York and New York. Uh mom, mom, Panura.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Let me get that at MAMPA Now. She didn't just
- 0:38Speaker 1: put a new word out there, and I can't even
- 0:39Speaker 1: say it. She has been called the Queen of Crypto
- 0:43Speaker 1: due to being an established cryptal experts and the founder
- 0:46Speaker 1: of the decentralized cryptocurrency known as rob Corn. She was
- 0:50Speaker 1: featured on Glamor Magazines in May of twenty eighteen, Women
- 0:53Speaker 1: in Crypto c and then Bloomberg Complex, tv C, NBC
- 0:57Speaker 1: Recount mclaire and liveaty anything that has to do with
- 1:02Speaker 1: talking about this new money that we as African America,
- 1:06Speaker 1: we as people of color, need to be aware of it.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I got on the shoulder today to eat. Continue to
- 1:11Speaker 1: educate me on it. Please work with the Money Making
- 1:14Speaker 1: Conversation Master class Tavannah Evans. Well, two things. When I
- 1:20Speaker 1: bring an expert like you, Tavanna, because I'm gonna tell you,
- 1:23Speaker 1: I I am a credit card person, I am a
- 1:27Speaker 1: cash person. I am a guy who uh knows the
- 1:30Speaker 1: banking systems that I've been raised on. And so now
- 1:34Speaker 1: you're introducing a digital currency platform that some people and
- 1:40Speaker 1: even myself when it came out, I said, oh, this
- 1:42Speaker 1: is a a scam. And how you because I couldn't. I
- 1:44Speaker 1: couldn't hold my money. I couldn't hold a credit card,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I couldn't hold five dollars, ten dollars or coins. What
- 1:52Speaker 1: has been is that the is that the world that
- 1:55Speaker 1: you hear a lot from a person like me or
- 1:57Speaker 1: people like me when it comes to cryptocurrency. Absolutely, But
- 2:02Speaker 1: I love the way you started out by saying new money,
- 2:05Speaker 1: because most of us in our community don't realize that
- 2:08Speaker 1: this is actually money, right, Um, there's a lot of
- 2:11Speaker 1: people think that crypto is either a stock or just
- 2:14Speaker 1: simply an investment instrument or you know, uh, like you said,
- 2:18Speaker 1: a scam um. But what they failed to realize is
- 2:21Speaker 1: that it's been around for well aware a decade now
- 2:23Speaker 1: and the rest of the world is using this every day,
- 2:26Speaker 1: and we're behind as Americans, and then we're even further
- 2:29Speaker 1: behind as black Americans. Well here's my whole thought to
- 2:33Speaker 1: try to simplify the world. When people say, well, well,
- 2:35Speaker 1: cryptrough courage. I don't live like that because, like I
- 2:38Speaker 1: go to this uh kind of like fast food restaurant
- 2:40Speaker 1: called Quava Guava carva carva c A v A. You
- 2:45Speaker 1: can't even use cash, so I gotta use the credit
- 2:48Speaker 1: card to do businesses in there. So I'm already in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the digital currency world. The crypto is living in Okay.
- 2:55Speaker 1: And then when you have a credit card, you have
- 2:58Speaker 1: a credit card, let me put on so you can.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So you're already in that digital currency world because you're
- 3:05Speaker 1: spending money technically that you are being granted based on
- 3:09Speaker 1: your credit reach and so. Right, but there's a huge difference. Okay, cool,
- 3:14Speaker 1: I understanding. I'm just trying to trying to wrap my
- 3:16Speaker 1: head around people who are listening so they can know
- 3:20Speaker 1: they're kind of dealing in this digital space already right there,
- 3:25Speaker 1: and then I broke. You want to show the varner
- 3:27Speaker 1: can kind of transition us to this new space, this
- 3:30Speaker 1: new money space that's happening that we need to be
- 3:33Speaker 1: a part of. So that's I wanted to I was
- 3:35Speaker 1: gonna stop right there, so then you can take us
- 3:38Speaker 1: explain ra sean good good example, but the wrong example. Right.
- 3:44Speaker 1: It's a great example, don't get me wrong. But there's
- 3:46Speaker 1: a huge difference, and it's that actual difference that we
- 3:49Speaker 1: kind of fall behind on. When you're talking about credit,
- 3:52Speaker 1: you're talking about a centralized system that's not really your money. Right,
- 3:56Speaker 1: So you talked about you mentioned limits, you mentioned UM.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You know we crevate limits, and you know even when
- 4:02Speaker 1: we're using the debit card, we still have debit card limits.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But when it comes to cryptocurrency, you are the bank.
- 4:08Speaker 1: So this is your money. There are no limits to
- 4:10Speaker 1: what you can send and what you can spend. So
- 4:13Speaker 1: that's the huge difference between UM crypto, the crypto digital currency,
- 4:18Speaker 1: and the digital currencies that we're using, is that this
- 4:21Speaker 1: is your money. There is no intermediary between you and
- 4:24Speaker 1: your money when it comes to decentralized crypto, and that's
- 4:27Speaker 1: why people love it so much because it's the it's
- 4:30Speaker 1: disrupting the power structure, structure that exists between you and
- 4:34Speaker 1: your money. Right. And so now I know it's real because,
- 4:38Speaker 1: like I said, the Staples Center was just named crypto
- 4:42Speaker 1: in Los Angeles with the Lakers and the Clippers play
- 4:44Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. So nobody's going to give naming rights
- 4:48Speaker 1: to something that's a fad or scam and so so
- 4:52Speaker 1: that that that has a huge air of legitimacy. We
- 4:55Speaker 1: talked about all these billionaires that didn't have made with
- 4:58Speaker 1: through cryptocurrency. Now, how did you get involved in crypto because,
- 5:02Speaker 1: like I said, we met several years ago while I
- 5:04Speaker 1: was still managing Steve Harvey, and you have a tech
- 5:07Speaker 1: background and we were trying to develop a dating app
- 5:10Speaker 1: and also an app tied to the to the famous
- 5:13Speaker 1: strawberry leather at the time. So I know you have
- 5:16Speaker 1: the tank background, and so now you in the crypto
- 5:19Speaker 1: world called the crypto queen. How did you make that
- 5:22Speaker 1: transition because that was more just techie techie. Now this
- 5:25Speaker 1: is fintech. Well, in I founded a company called Safe
- 5:31Speaker 1: to Me and which was a peer to peer verification platform.
- 5:35Speaker 1: And it was during that time when I came into
- 5:37Speaker 1: the knowledge that black people don't get funded by vcs. Right, um,
- 5:42Speaker 1: not only black people, but black women. Black women get
- 5:44Speaker 1: less than a percentage point. So when it came to
- 5:47Speaker 1: time to time for us to actually scale our m
- 5:49Speaker 1: v P, there was no money to do so, right,
- 5:52Speaker 1: So that caught my attention. Crypto caught my attention a
- 5:55Speaker 1: little more because I saw that there were actual tech
- 5:57Speaker 1: companies out there that were using crypto to raise funds
- 6:01Speaker 1: for their projects. Right, So it clicked to me, Wow,
- 6:04Speaker 1: crypto is money, because, believe it or not, I was
- 6:06Speaker 1: introduced a big point a long time ago, but I
- 6:08Speaker 1: didn't quite understand that big point was actually money, right.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So it was at that point that I realized that
- 6:15Speaker 1: this is money. And in our community, we've been talking
- 6:18Speaker 1: about the black dollar for so long, but we really
- 6:20Speaker 1: technically don't have a black dollar. But what if we did,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and what if we had a black dollar that could
- 6:26Speaker 1: ride on on the rails of a blockchain and it
- 6:29Speaker 1: be transparent and have more trust and and it would
- 6:32Speaker 1: have government intervention. That was like a light went off
- 6:35Speaker 1: in my head. So not only did I see crypto
- 6:38Speaker 1: as an opportunity for me to be able to get
- 6:40Speaker 1: capital for all my great tech ideas, but I also
- 6:44Speaker 1: thought as an opportunity for us to use in our
- 6:46Speaker 1: community and have greater access to money outside of vcs
- 6:50Speaker 1: and banks, etcetera. That you know, of course, are you know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: very not fair to our community. We'll be right back
- 6:58Speaker 1: with more money Making Come Sations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now,
- 7:04Speaker 1: let's return to money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And if we hear the word fair, we hear the
- 7:13Speaker 1: word education, and hear the word uh lasting line. You know,
- 7:17Speaker 1: that's what people of color are are tied to those
- 7:19Speaker 1: you know, last hired, you know, last first let go
- 7:23Speaker 1: or first fire that some people may use that terminology.
- 7:26Speaker 1: How can we as African Americans, because that's what I
- 7:29Speaker 1: am and as an African Americans, how can we how
- 7:32Speaker 1: can we start catching up? Well, one of the ways
- 7:38Speaker 1: that we can start catching up is we have to
- 7:40Speaker 1: start having more value in ourselves and having more value
- 7:44Speaker 1: in what we offer. The black tech community has is
- 7:47Speaker 1: rich when it comes to solutions to our condition. However,
- 7:51Speaker 1: we suffer from a lack of support, you know. So
- 7:55Speaker 1: you know, we may come up with a platform that
- 7:57Speaker 1: might be a social media platform, but people are preferred
- 7:59Speaker 1: to be on Facebook, which is predatory, or they may
- 8:02Speaker 1: prefer to be on Instagram or whatever, right, and they
- 8:04Speaker 1: don't really we don't really give our own affair shake
- 8:08Speaker 1: when it comes to tech. And I mentioned that you
- 8:10Speaker 1: know before the show, tech is very buggy and initially
- 8:13Speaker 1: not the prettiest looking thing. It's not the pretty tech
- 8:17Speaker 1: that actually goes on to being the more successful, it's
- 8:20Speaker 1: the more functional. Right, So we tend to have a
- 8:24Speaker 1: lot of patients with these um new tech that we
- 8:26Speaker 1: put out m v P s or whatever it's and
- 8:29Speaker 1: we we might compare it to other larger funded projects
- 8:33Speaker 1: out there. There are projects out there. Um for instance,
- 8:36Speaker 1: um uh, the guy who started we work right his
- 8:39Speaker 1: his company almost went under, but then he was refunded
- 8:43Speaker 1: again a couple of hundred million dollars for a new project. Right,
- 8:47Speaker 1: So in black tech, we have to come out and
- 8:50Speaker 1: compete with these guys who are coming into the coming
- 8:53Speaker 1: in the space with hundreds of millions of dollars even
- 8:56Speaker 1: billion dollars evaluations. When we can't even raise a million dollars,
- 9:00Speaker 1: you know, And what we have to understand is that
- 9:03Speaker 1: what gets us this money is to support people. Intact.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Equal data, data equals currency equals money. So we need
- 9:10Speaker 1: people to support our projects so that we can get
- 9:13Speaker 1: to that level to where we can solve the problems
- 9:16Speaker 1: and issues in our community and we can also flourish
- 9:19Speaker 1: and close the wealth gap. Well, you know, I'm talking
- 9:22Speaker 1: to uh Tavana evans Um. She is the Queen of
- 9:25Speaker 1: Crypto since seventeen, she has been an expert global voice
- 9:29Speaker 1: for blockchains, UH Language, big corns, U n f t s.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Because that's what I've been trying to bring on this
- 9:36Speaker 1: show where you have money making conversation Massacage, you've better
- 9:38Speaker 1: talk about money and you better to tell people how
- 9:40Speaker 1: to understand money because we all know how to spend
- 9:43Speaker 1: it to a certain degree. When inflation, every times you
- 9:46Speaker 1: go up to a gas pump and you don't know
- 9:48Speaker 1: if you can fill it up or halfway or quarter
- 9:52Speaker 1: tank or just here's five dollars and five dollars basically
- 9:55Speaker 1: we'll just get you home nowadays. So with that being said,
- 9:58Speaker 1: in the in the world that we live in, how
- 10:01Speaker 1: does one get into the cryptocurrency world. That's gonna be
- 10:03Speaker 1: our first question to ta Vanna. Well, the first thing
- 10:07Speaker 1: you want to do, and it depends on where you're
- 10:09Speaker 1: coming from. Some of us won't come from a creative side,
- 10:12Speaker 1: like we were interested in maybe using this as a solution,
- 10:15Speaker 1: and in others we're just consumers. We want to see
- 10:18Speaker 1: how we can use this more efficiently. So if you're
- 10:21Speaker 1: coming in just as a basic person coming new to crypto,
- 10:24Speaker 1: the first thing you want to do is get a wallet, right,
- 10:26Speaker 1: and not only that, let me back up. The first
- 10:29Speaker 1: thing you want to do is get a little education. Right.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So we talk a lot about their not being crypto education,
- 10:36Speaker 1: but yes, there nowadays there is more crypto education out there.
- 10:39Speaker 1: There are more programs out there to get the basics.
- 10:42Speaker 1: So start out with a little crypto education, just a
- 10:44Speaker 1: little bit. But the main thing that you want to
- 10:47Speaker 1: do is you want to get a wallet. Whiles they're easy,
- 10:50Speaker 1: they're free, and that's how you get That's like the
- 10:52Speaker 1: doorway or the gateway into crypto. You know, I know
- 10:56Speaker 1: in the in the community is like a little southern thing.
- 10:58Speaker 1: You say you have a wallet, you know you're gonna
- 11:00Speaker 1: eventually have money to fill it up right, so you
- 11:03Speaker 1: know what I mean. So you but but you gotta
- 11:04Speaker 1: get a wallet first. So yes, and crypto, you're gonna
- 11:07Speaker 1: get a wallet, and it's not a physical wallet. It
- 11:09Speaker 1: is a software, it is digital, and they're all kind
- 11:12Speaker 1: of wallets. You have non custodial wallets and you have
- 11:15Speaker 1: custodial wallets. US crypto heads, we prefer that you get
- 11:18Speaker 1: a non custodial wallet. And what that means is you're
- 11:22Speaker 1: getting a wallet that truly is connected to the blockchain
- 11:25Speaker 1: and is not owned by someone else. So for instance,
- 11:29Speaker 1: if you go on, if you sign up to point
- 11:31Speaker 1: based for instance, you're gonna get a custodial wallet. That's
- 11:34Speaker 1: almost like having a bank account, meaning you got to
- 11:36Speaker 1: prove who you are, and they they actually hold your wallet,
- 11:39Speaker 1: it's not yours, and a front of a mind. Another
- 11:43Speaker 1: crypto person he goes bitcoin, is that he goes it's
- 11:46Speaker 1: not your keys, it's not your cheese. So basically, if
- 11:49Speaker 1: you don't have your keys or your wallet key, then
- 11:52Speaker 1: someone else is holding it and they actually hold your funds.
- 11:55Speaker 1: So you want to have a non custodial wallet, which
- 11:57Speaker 1: they're going to give you keys. So that means if
- 12:00Speaker 1: you decide that you want to take your money somewhere else,
- 12:02Speaker 1: or even if you want to take your crypto offline
- 12:04Speaker 1: and store it on a paper somewhere, you always have
- 12:07Speaker 1: your keys and you can do that. So we always
- 12:10Speaker 1: suggest that you get a non constoial wallet to start
- 12:12Speaker 1: out with, so you truly own your money. Now. Grop Corn, well,
- 12:19Speaker 1: that's something that started in twenty seventeen and you wanted
- 12:22Speaker 1: the inspirations when it was launched. Is a decentralized cryptocurrency
- 12:26Speaker 1: is similar to big corn. Okay, so let's let's talk
- 12:29Speaker 1: about big corns because I want to, like, at the
- 12:32Speaker 1: end of the end of view, hopefully I I simplify
- 12:35Speaker 1: some of the terminology. You know, we talked about the wallet,
- 12:38Speaker 1: you talked about constoleo non constoio. That's an education point
- 12:42Speaker 1: right there. Constoial means you don't have ownership of your
- 12:45Speaker 1: money basically you open the bank account. A non constoial
- 12:48Speaker 1: means you have control, you can take your money where
- 12:50Speaker 1: you want to take offline to keep it online. Now,
- 12:53Speaker 1: let's go to this grop corn, which is a decentralized cryptocurrency.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Well decentralized again, Beach always start that because That means
- 13:01Speaker 1: that there's no middleman, no company or anything running it.
- 13:05Speaker 1: This is a cryptocurrency is strictly owned by the people.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And what I mean by the people is when you
- 13:10Speaker 1: get a wallet, then you become an owner, a stakeholder
- 13:13Speaker 1: in this whole project, right, And that's what makes it
- 13:16Speaker 1: similar to bitcoin, because Bitcoin is also a decentralized crypto.
- 13:20Speaker 1: That means that there's no owner, there's no company running
- 13:23Speaker 1: pulling the streams in the background. There's nobody you can
- 13:26Speaker 1: call for customer service, and bitcoin if you have a
- 13:29Speaker 1: problem and um, you have to participate in the company
- 13:32Speaker 1: so that I'm sorry, in the community, because that's what
- 13:35Speaker 1: these cryptos are about. Decentralized cryptocurrencies are about community. They're
- 13:40Speaker 1: based on community. So the community gets to share and
- 13:44Speaker 1: rr and and tell everybody get this crypto and all
- 13:47Speaker 1: of that, because they're all equal stakeholders in this thing.
- 13:50Speaker 1: No one can just come and pull the plug. That's
- 13:53Speaker 1: the difference with a decentralized crypto as well. No one
- 13:56Speaker 1: can come and pull the plug and say, hey, this
- 13:58Speaker 1: project is gonna get shut down and we're gonna just
- 14:00Speaker 1: take it and we're gonna run. No one can take
- 14:02Speaker 1: your money because that is your you're like having in
- 14:05Speaker 1: a non fostodial wallet, right and you have say, you
- 14:09Speaker 1: get to vote a lot, you know, you get to
- 14:11Speaker 1: be a part of community, and you have say in
- 14:13Speaker 1: the direction of the crypto in the future. So this
- 14:16Speaker 1: is the model that we chose for black Coin because
- 14:19Speaker 1: this really truly gives us autonomy when it comes to money,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and it's going to breed trust in the community when
- 14:26Speaker 1: it comes to money as well. Well, you know, Facebook
- 14:29Speaker 1: changed their name to Meta. You know what, nobody's aw
- 14:32Speaker 1: that coming, and so you have this whole method and
- 14:35Speaker 1: it's really interesting how you know, you watch these marvels
- 14:38Speaker 1: and d C like I watched I watch The Flash
- 14:41Speaker 1: on g W and so that's where metaverse comes to
- 14:45Speaker 1: my world, all these different metas. So that's the first
- 14:47Speaker 1: introduction into the world of metaverse was do this uh,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you know, this action adventure series. And so when I started,
- 14:54Speaker 1: when I heard that Facebook was changing their name to
- 14:56Speaker 1: Meta and then you know, when you start talking about
- 14:59Speaker 1: city is an echo sustain the metaverse in real life
- 15:01Speaker 1: smart city, which focuses on educating the citizens on land ownership.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Let's talk about that smart city. Let's talk about the metaverse.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Let's talk about all these terminology which tend to jump
- 15:13Speaker 1: from fantasy land to reality, and when it becomes reality,
- 15:17Speaker 1: that's where the education comes on, and that's when you
- 15:19Speaker 1: need to go there. There's just a just read when
- 15:22Speaker 1: when a major company, a billion dollar company says call
- 15:26Speaker 1: us meta now, we need to start listening, especially when
- 15:29Speaker 1: they control the social media platforms that we all participate in.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean as a geek, I'm a total
- 15:37Speaker 1: metaverse geek. I'm being involved in the metaverse for a
- 15:41Speaker 1: long time as well. It's not a new thing, been
- 15:43Speaker 1: around for quite a bit. Um. But the metaverse, we
- 15:47Speaker 1: felt is not going to solve our problems so solely
- 15:50Speaker 1: as African Americans and as the global diaspora because a
- 15:53Speaker 1: lot of our problems exists offline. We don't even have
- 15:56Speaker 1: the money, the resources as a collective to even catch
- 15:59Speaker 1: up to where they are in terms of building the
- 16:03Speaker 1: metaverse and those products. Right, So we have to solve
- 16:05Speaker 1: both problems. And we also have to solve problems that
- 16:08Speaker 1: are coming, whether it's the recession, whether it's food and security, um.
- 16:13Speaker 1: And we also have to solve the problem of educating
- 16:16Speaker 1: our folks to be become more sustainable and and um,
- 16:20Speaker 1: so that we can survive, you know, um, the things
- 16:22Speaker 1: that are coming. So these are these are um problems
- 16:26Speaker 1: that we feel out a unique to us that also
- 16:29Speaker 1: can go hand in hand with the metaverse. So we've
- 16:32Speaker 1: been acquiring land in Georgia, uh and you know, basically
- 16:36Speaker 1: we brought it up under the Monica block city. So
- 16:38Speaker 1: we're trying to build a sustainable city and a sustainable
- 16:42Speaker 1: city model which will function as a framework that other
- 16:45Speaker 1: people can use to create sustainable cities, whether it's um
- 16:49Speaker 1: in another state or whether it's in another country. So
- 16:52Speaker 1: so our whole thing is to build this foundational model
- 16:56Speaker 1: that is governed by the blockchain, which is what we
- 16:59Speaker 1: call DALs or decentralized autonomous organizations, which allow people to
- 17:03Speaker 1: vote on practically everything you need to do when it
- 17:06Speaker 1: comes to a city, right, and not only vote, but
- 17:09Speaker 1: vote in a transparent way, in a undisruptible way, so
- 17:13Speaker 1: there's no somebody's tempering with voting papers and all of that,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but you can actually vote on the immutable blockchain, which
- 17:21Speaker 1: creates more security. So um, the concept of the TAO
- 17:26Speaker 1: is kind of sort of still new, right, and we
- 17:29Speaker 1: don't want our folks to be left behind that as well,
- 17:32Speaker 1: you know, because of you know, the technology gap that exists.
- 17:35Speaker 1: So we're opening up this world to um, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 1: to African American and global diaspora so that we can
- 17:42Speaker 1: you know, not only just catch up, so we can
- 17:44Speaker 1: also thrive when it comes to building smart cities and
- 17:48Speaker 1: and also building meta verses, because that's what we're doing.
- 17:51Speaker 1: We're building metal versus. There's actually not a metaverse. There
- 17:55Speaker 1: is metavers is. Anyone can create a metaverse, and that's
- 17:58Speaker 1: a misunderstanding. Um that's kind of been put out there
- 18:01Speaker 1: a little bit. Maybe it's putting put out there so
- 18:04Speaker 1: we can kind of you know, be yanked up into
- 18:06Speaker 1: one construct by somebody. But anyone can build a metaverse.
- 18:11Speaker 1: It's not just a one thing, you know. So we
- 18:14Speaker 1: were trying to dispel a lot of the myths out
- 18:16Speaker 1: there about these technologies as well that may potentially, um
- 18:22Speaker 1: cause a disadvantage to us because we, number one, we
- 18:25Speaker 1: have great social capital, and a lot of these companies
- 18:28Speaker 1: would love to be able to tap into our social
- 18:30Speaker 1: capital to push along their agendas and their platforms and stuff,
- 18:33Speaker 1: and we want to own ours, so you know, that's
- 18:36Speaker 1: the difference We'll be right back with more Money Making
- 18:39Speaker 1: Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now, let's return to Money
- 18:45Speaker 1: Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. We know that, Yeah,
- 18:51Speaker 1: I gotta go to the other page. Because people see money,
- 18:55Speaker 1: um and they see an opportunity. They poorly educated or
- 18:58Speaker 1: not educated enough. So how does want evolved the wrong
- 19:03Speaker 1: relationship or the scam relationship or the relationship is not
- 19:07Speaker 1: a scam. You just invested in their own direction to
- 19:10Speaker 1: open your wallet on the wrong platform. Let's start with
- 19:13Speaker 1: the wallet, Well, you should open it that. I think
- 19:18Speaker 1: the best protection is community. That's why I said that
- 19:21Speaker 1: the foundation of these projects are community. You should be
- 19:24Speaker 1: joining communities that align with your core principles, you know,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and and not just joining the community because of money,
- 19:31Speaker 1: a community that says, yeah, you're gonna make a ton
- 19:34Speaker 1: of money by joining our community. No, you should be
- 19:37Speaker 1: joining communities that align with your four principles, that are
- 19:40Speaker 1: working on real life solutions that impact you in a
- 19:42Speaker 1: real life way, you know, And and that's going to,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know again, make you want to delve a little
- 19:48Speaker 1: bit deeper, make you more comfortable in what you're doing.
- 19:51Speaker 1: You're not a fish out of water. You're not just
- 19:53Speaker 1: joining on some project that you know nothing about, but
- 19:55Speaker 1: they're promising you all of these payments in in um
- 19:59Speaker 1: you know, future riches and etcetera. That's not what we're
- 20:03Speaker 1: promising with wapoint. We're promising a tool that we can
- 20:06Speaker 1: all use to come together and build a financial community
- 20:10Speaker 1: and then build a data community and use our resources
- 20:15Speaker 1: to reinvest in our offline communities. So, you know, you
- 20:19Speaker 1: want to find something that you can align with, and
- 20:21Speaker 1: that's what people were doing earlier on. Earlier on, and
- 20:24Speaker 1: were many projects and people would find projects that they
- 20:27Speaker 1: really were interested in that it could be something like
- 20:30Speaker 1: save the Dolphins, you know, but you were really interested
- 20:33Speaker 1: in this this project, So you join the project and
- 20:35Speaker 1: you put your your not only invested your money, but
- 20:38Speaker 1: you invested your interests and you invested your time in
- 20:42Speaker 1: these projects. So I think that's the big key. The
- 20:45Speaker 1: key is to align with those projects that align with you, right.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And so it's all about, like I said, relationships, which
- 20:55Speaker 1: is just which your typical and trying to establish credit.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You know, you have to work for a company, the
- 21:01Speaker 1: developer understand that that company has a long term investment
- 21:05Speaker 1: in you. You invest your time into the company in
- 21:07Speaker 1: order the good credit, you've gotta pay people on the
- 21:10Speaker 1: time of the basis. But in this cryptocurrency world, I
- 21:13Speaker 1: guess the word is just digital. It guess old habits
- 21:16Speaker 1: are hard to break. I guess that's the term I
- 21:18Speaker 1: should put into this conversation. And then the comfort zone.
- 21:22Speaker 1: You know, we're already as African Americans, we don't invest
- 21:25Speaker 1: enough in the stock market enough. We know we're not
- 21:27Speaker 1: We're low end participants in that world. Uh we you know,
- 21:31Speaker 1: we still go to these check cashing places to cash
- 21:34Speaker 1: our checks. We don't have the banking facilities and African
- 21:38Speaker 1: American neighborhoods. Even though the younger generation of US are
- 21:41Speaker 1: very prone to use and prone in a very positive
- 21:44Speaker 1: amount of apps, which they still are the generation that
- 21:48Speaker 1: may start investing in the cryptocurrency. I ask you this question,
- 21:51Speaker 1: and not saying you the expert to say this, but
- 21:54Speaker 1: it is the older generation lost in trying to understand
- 21:58Speaker 1: the cryptocurrency world, not at all. My grandmother was ninety
- 22:02Speaker 1: nine years old. She passed away in January, and she
- 22:05Speaker 1: was one of my biggest supporters with black Point. She
- 22:08Speaker 1: very well understood what we were trying to do in
- 22:10Speaker 1: terms of creating a currency that we could use in
- 22:13Speaker 1: our community. She understood totally. So I felt that my
- 22:17Speaker 1: ninety nine year old grandmother can get it. Anyone could
- 22:19Speaker 1: get it. Of course, the younger generations, they're more socially savvy.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And really this is you know, you talked about how
- 22:26Speaker 1: we we haven't really invested in these other things, but
- 22:29Speaker 1: we're fully invested in social media, don't don't you know?
- 22:33Speaker 1: We can't discount that. You know, we're fully invested in
- 22:36Speaker 1: social media. Like if we were to pull out of
- 22:38Speaker 1: Instagram and that would include all of the celebrities that
- 22:40Speaker 1: we know tomorrow, then we're with Instagram. Graham b Um
- 22:45Speaker 1: Snoop already said that he was one of the first
- 22:48Speaker 1: celebrities on Instagram and pulled in a lot of people
- 22:50Speaker 1: with him when he came. So we have to understand
- 22:54Speaker 1: that we've already been investing with our social capital. So
- 22:57Speaker 1: we're savvy enough to now take our social capital capital
- 23:01Speaker 1: and lead to another system and actually monetize our social capital,
- 23:05Speaker 1: because that's what crypto does. Crypto gives us the ability
- 23:08Speaker 1: to monetize our social value and our social capital. People
- 23:11Speaker 1: always ask where does it come from? Where does the
- 23:13Speaker 1: value come from it? It It comes from you. It comes
- 23:15Speaker 1: from your social value, right and when you do that,
- 23:19Speaker 1: you know you win. I'm talking to Vada uh Evans.
- 23:23Speaker 1: She is the She's called the Queen of Crypto, which
- 23:26Speaker 1: I think is the title of most appropriate. And like
- 23:28Speaker 1: I said, when I bring people on my show Money
- 23:31Speaker 1: Making Conversation Masterclass, I a working history or working relationship.
- 23:35Speaker 1: It's very important. She reminded me with Sean we've met before,
- 23:39Speaker 1: and I said, two thousand nine, I was doing an
- 23:43Speaker 1: app for you on your data map, which really comforted
- 23:45Speaker 1: me because when I never tell you did when I
- 23:48Speaker 1: because people listen to me, people that would trust to me.
- 23:50Speaker 1: And when I bring individuals on this show and they
- 23:53Speaker 1: start talking about cryptocurrency, you know it comes with a
- 23:56Speaker 1: warning label, you know, because of the fact that do
- 23:58Speaker 1: your research. Just so just as I'm bringing somebody on there,
- 24:01Speaker 1: you know, I understand there is risk. You know, there's
- 24:04Speaker 1: no there's risk when you get on the airplane, there's
- 24:06Speaker 1: risk when you drive your car. But this is direct
- 24:09Speaker 1: risk because it involves your money. How can they reach
- 24:12Speaker 1: out to you? How could they or do you have courses?
- 24:15Speaker 1: Do you have a online of setups where people can
- 24:19Speaker 1: take monthly page subscriptions to be educated because mabl big
- 24:24Speaker 1: walk away from this interview is that they need to
- 24:27Speaker 1: find you educate themselves based on your legacy that you
- 24:32Speaker 1: put out there and your reputation. Yeah. Absolutely, Well it's
- 24:36Speaker 1: two ways. I am a master class teacher on a
- 24:39Speaker 1: platform called Class Rebel as Class Rebel dot com um
- 24:44Speaker 1: and we have free introductory crypto classes that lead into
- 24:48Speaker 1: a longer, more intensive couple of day crypto classes. So
- 24:52Speaker 1: if you follow me on social media um, whether it's
- 24:54Speaker 1: LinkedIn Tovanta Evans or or Twitter, Tovannah Evans or even Blockpoint,
- 24:59Speaker 1: you see your way to get into our pre crypto
- 25:03Speaker 1: um class. And then also we have an initiative called
- 25:07Speaker 1: one million Wallets dot com and one million Wallace is
- 25:11Speaker 1: our is our effort to go out anywhere someone asks
- 25:14Speaker 1: us to show up and instruct the people on crypto.
- 25:18Speaker 1: So whether it's your church or whether it's your organization,
- 25:21Speaker 1: or if you could get together twenty to fifty people,
- 25:24Speaker 1: we will show up. I will show up personally and
- 25:28Speaker 1: educate you on cryptocurrency UM. So that's one of our
- 25:32Speaker 1: other initiatives as well. One million it's one million wallets
- 25:35Speaker 1: dot com um, and you can visit us like wallpoint
- 25:38Speaker 1: dot org and we have some links, will have links
- 25:41Speaker 1: fossile to one million wallet. But that's our big initiative
- 25:45Speaker 1: we want to go. You know, I decided like six
- 25:48Speaker 1: months ago, I want to get on the streets, like
- 25:50Speaker 1: I want to be right there on the streets educating
- 25:52Speaker 1: people about this, you know. And you know that's where
- 25:56Speaker 1: we came up with one million wallets, because we're gonna
- 25:58Speaker 1: get a million people to get a wallet. It's free.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Just get a wallet, you know. And in the process
- 26:04Speaker 1: of getting a wallet, you help us to be able
- 26:07Speaker 1: to grow to a point where we can help you
- 26:09Speaker 1: and we can teach you all you need to know
- 26:12Speaker 1: about crypto and answer all of your questions. First of all,
- 26:15Speaker 1: I'm excited, UM. I want you to do me a favor.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I have a newsletter that goes out every Wednesday at
- 26:22Speaker 1: ten a m. It goes out to six or six
- 26:24Speaker 1: thousand plus. We have an open rate about thirty six,
- 26:28Speaker 1: so that means that they don't discard my newsletter when
- 26:31Speaker 1: it comes across their desk. The industry standard, I think
- 26:34Speaker 1: is like fifteen percent open rate, and I like to
- 26:37Speaker 1: those free classes. If you have a banner that you
- 26:40Speaker 1: can email to me so we can put that in
- 26:43Speaker 1: a newsletter. And I love that one million wallets. I
- 26:46Speaker 1: like to I like, I like to become an advocate,
- 26:48Speaker 1: if you don't mind, because I'd like to be able
- 26:50Speaker 1: to to to educate myself and educate my base. But
- 26:55Speaker 1: the free uh, the free crypto classes, I think you
- 26:58Speaker 1: can really get the man. And I like to put
- 27:00Speaker 1: a dropping in my newsletter if you don't mind, Thank
- 27:03Speaker 1: you awesome yea. So so get with the Marissa or
- 27:08Speaker 1: who hawns all the bookings on this show for this
- 27:10Speaker 1: particular segment. And I really am sincerely telling you, Tavana Evans.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I may not have remembered you from two thousand nine,
- 27:16Speaker 1: but I remember you in two I want your help.
- 27:20Speaker 1: I want to use your talents. I want to use
- 27:23Speaker 1: your abilities to help turn that curve. Like you said,
- 27:26Speaker 1: just sign up for a whilet it's free. I need
- 27:29Speaker 1: to put my name on the wallet. You know Telfond
- 27:31Speaker 1: who was my producer and this for this show every week,
- 27:33Speaker 1: he needs to put his name on a wallet. So
- 27:35Speaker 1: we can start at least creeping into that world and
- 27:38Speaker 1: develop some level of comfort that we can be a participant.
- 27:42Speaker 1: And it's not a scam. It's not something that you
- 27:45Speaker 1: that you should avoid. You should avoid it, you should
- 27:48Speaker 1: run to it, run to it with a with proper
- 27:51Speaker 1: family guidance. So I took away from you family and visionary,
- 27:55Speaker 1: and I consider your visionary. But Tavana, most importantly, thank
- 27:58Speaker 1: you for coming on Money Making Conversations master Class. Thank
- 28:01Speaker 1: you You've been wonderful. And again this is a show
- 28:04Speaker 1: about cryptocurrency. Bitcorn, we didn't talk about n f t s,
- 28:08Speaker 1: but she can help you out there. But we're gonna
- 28:10Speaker 1: put our banner, her banner in our in our newsletter
- 28:13Speaker 1: on a weekly basis, so it offers free classes that
- 28:17Speaker 1: could educate you by cryptocurrency. So don't stop, don't stop
- 28:21Speaker 1: yourself from being a part of the economic games that
- 28:24Speaker 1: are being made out there, especially in the digital currency world.
- 28:27Speaker 1: The murder verse is real, y'all. And she said metavers
- 28:30Speaker 1: is absolutely
