- 3:14Speaker 1: on TV one tonight at ten p m. Eastern Standard Time.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Evidence of Innocence Lofty bed Skirt CEO Xena Bazard, who
- 3:23Speaker 1: I met at the Black Expot and she was set up. Um,
- 3:28Speaker 1: she was an entrepreneur. That's what I loved about her.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And she's on the show. She's out of Houston, Texas,
- 3:34Speaker 1: the Universade and NASCAR driver Darryl buh Ba Wilens. That's
- 3:40Speaker 1: a great interview. Um, we realized that these people are
- 3:44Speaker 1: just regular people, and they realized that their stories that
- 3:48Speaker 1: I'm asking them to tell on my show is for
- 3:52Speaker 1: motivational personal motivation for them because they get to hear
- 3:55Speaker 1: their story, get to hear their success, get to get
- 3:58Speaker 1: a clear understanding about what needs to happened for them
- 4:00Speaker 1: be successful, and then you get a clear understanding that
- 4:03Speaker 1: to be successful, these stories need to be intertwined to
- 4:06Speaker 1: your personal life. That's what this shows about. Money making
- 4:08Speaker 1: conversation is about motivation and entreprenural and entertainment. If you're
- 4:15Speaker 1: motivated through these these areas or you want to be
- 4:17Speaker 1: successfull these there, you're listening to the right show. You're
- 4:20Speaker 1: listening to the right person, and I am Rashawn McDonald.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Lit a little history about me. I was talking to
- 4:26Speaker 1: my friend this weekend, and you know, I was doing
- 4:28Speaker 1: a lot of media in DC last week in regards
- 4:31Speaker 1: to Evidence of Innocence, which is premier tonight on TV
- 4:35Speaker 1: one ten pm Eastern Standard Time. It's a limited series
- 4:39Speaker 1: and discusses uh the wrongfully accused. When I said, they're
- 4:42Speaker 1: wrongfully accused, It's about individuals who can't who've been locked up,
- 4:48Speaker 1: man been locked up sitting in jail ten years, one
- 4:51Speaker 1: of them twelve years, one of them fifteen years, and
- 4:54Speaker 1: one of an unbelievable twenty seven years. That person was
- 4:58Speaker 1: incarcerated and until they were released, would you have survived
- 5:04Speaker 1: when you had a moral compass the state, feel that
- 5:08Speaker 1: God still believes in you, that God's hearing you. That
- 5:13Speaker 1: is what this show is about. This shows about tempting
- 5:15Speaker 1: and testing your ability to be successful, tempting and testing
- 5:19Speaker 1: your ability to understand that what is accomplishing right now,
- 5:23Speaker 1: what you're trying to accomplish right now, can be achieved
- 5:26Speaker 1: at the highest level and the highest level of being
- 5:28Speaker 1: that you can win. And that's what I wanna talk
- 5:31Speaker 1: about today, to stop signed, to stop signed, that all
- 5:35Speaker 1: of us are holding up on a daily basis and
- 5:37Speaker 1: don't even know it. So what you should do is
- 5:39Speaker 1: when you wake up in the morning, I look in
- 5:41Speaker 1: the mirror. I don't see anything. I just see ras
- 5:44Speaker 1: Sean McDonald. But if you're not accomplishing your dreams, you're
- 5:47Speaker 1: not living your dreams, or you're not meeting your goals,
- 5:49Speaker 1: well you should see something else in that mirror when
- 5:52Speaker 1: you're looking at it. It should be stop signing. It's
- 5:54Speaker 1: right in front of your face. It's blocking all your opportunities.
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's even blocking your ability to clearly see who you
- 6:00Speaker 1: are in that mirror. I call it to stop sign.
- 6:03Speaker 1: It's time to remove that stop signed from in front
- 6:05Speaker 1: of your opportunities. Now how do you do that? Well,
- 6:09Speaker 1: first of all, you have to be consistent in life.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You have to have a plan. You have to believe
- 6:14Speaker 1: that the plan that you put in place will allow
- 6:16Speaker 1: you to achieve your goals. And when you achieve your goals,
- 6:19Speaker 1: then you, my friend, will win. Now, how can you
- 6:23Speaker 1: win the goals to winning? Now? That stops sign that
- 6:26Speaker 1: you cannot see that is frustrating you, that you have
- 6:30Speaker 1: your other job that you don't want to be at.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Have you talked in a relationship that you don't want
- 6:34Speaker 1: to be in? Okay, I went there a relationship that
- 6:39Speaker 1: you do not want to be in? It's what and
- 6:43Speaker 1: that's what we can do right now. Talk about the
- 6:46Speaker 1: different lanes that you're in that you don't want to
- 6:49Speaker 1: be in. We always go back to I am not
- 6:52Speaker 1: living the life that I want to live. Look around?
- 6:56Speaker 1: Are you with the person you want to be with?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Are you driving a car that you want to sit in?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Are you living in there apartment home that you want
- 7:04Speaker 1: to be in? Are you your does your bank account
- 7:08Speaker 1: have any money that you can call your own? When
- 7:11Speaker 1: I say that means that a lot of people have
- 7:12Speaker 1: bank accounts that really ain't their money. It's a temporary state,
- 7:17Speaker 1: you know, It's just it means that it's waiting on
- 7:19Speaker 1: the first of them all. It's working on the fifteen
- 7:20Speaker 1: and the month, a wait for that bill that you
- 7:22Speaker 1: didn't expect to come. Like this past weekend, I had
- 7:25Speaker 1: to put my truck in the shop. You know, it
- 7:28Speaker 1: was a scheduled be the schedule be pops up right
- 7:31Speaker 1: in front of me. It tells me how many days
- 7:33Speaker 1: there's thirty two days. So I was driving around this
- 7:35Speaker 1: giant scheduled B maintenance notice on my screen and people, look,
- 7:40Speaker 1: what's that. You know it's a schedule B. You know,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I drive an expensive vehicle, so it really looks bad
- 7:46Speaker 1: that I gotta schedule be what life is not good
- 7:48Speaker 1: for you right now? You're thirty thirty two days beyond
- 7:52Speaker 1: turning it in with what's going on? Now? Just leave
- 7:54Speaker 1: me alone. I'm busy. I travel a lot. Okay, start
- 7:56Speaker 1: taking it in. You know it's starts out with this,
- 7:59Speaker 1: Well the schedule be, it's going to be this. Then
- 8:02Speaker 1: I get the famous phone call. Well we found some
- 8:05Speaker 1: other things. We found some other things that we like
- 8:11Speaker 1: to bring to your attention. Yes, the attention information, the
- 8:17Speaker 1: the call that you don't want to have any nice
- 8:19Speaker 1: about it where sir, you know, we're not recommending that
- 8:23Speaker 1: you say these are necessary, but we believe that eventually
- 8:28Speaker 1: you will come back to see us. If you don't
- 8:30Speaker 1: get tease prepared, you will come back to see cool.
- 8:34Speaker 1: And so that's what the beauty of all this is
- 8:36Speaker 1: going on. Because of the fact that I told him
- 8:39Speaker 1: this is the bad this is the funny part about it.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So he gave me this huge bill. I'm not gonna
- 8:43Speaker 1: tell you what it is because I don't admit publicly
- 8:46Speaker 1: that page this bill. But guess what the guy called.
- 8:51Speaker 1: He was so embarrassed at the number that he that
- 8:54Speaker 1: he was apologizing. He said, uh, he said, I don't
- 8:57Speaker 1: want to tell you how much all these additional charges
- 8:59Speaker 1: are gonna be as well. You don't have to. But
- 9:01Speaker 1: if I want to get my vehicle back, you obviously
- 9:03Speaker 1: go out there tell me what it's gonna be. And
- 9:06Speaker 1: so and I mean, let's they fix it? You said,
- 9:08Speaker 1: really as it? Fix it? He said, but you know
- 9:12Speaker 1: you could. You don't don't seem to drive this vehicle
- 9:14Speaker 1: a lot. You know you can just you know, let
- 9:16Speaker 1: it roll for a little while. And I go, no,
- 9:19Speaker 1: fix it right now. And so he was starting at
- 9:21Speaker 1: my atimacy because he says that most people when you
- 9:25Speaker 1: tell them something wrong with their vehicle, or telling them
- 9:27Speaker 1: something's wrong it is not right, they delay it. That's
- 9:30Speaker 1: where my story is going right now, back to you see,
- 9:33Speaker 1: I totally to fix my vehicle because I'm getting that
- 9:36Speaker 1: stop signed out of my face. I don't when I
- 9:38Speaker 1: look in the mirror, I don't want to see nothing
- 9:40Speaker 1: but success. And opportunities. I want to I want to
- 9:42Speaker 1: see my goals that I'm hidden see right then and there.
- 9:45Speaker 1: I could have took his advice and delayed some repairs
- 9:50Speaker 1: on my vehicle, But guess what, I'd have came back anyway.
- 9:54Speaker 1: That's what's happening in your life every day, y'all. Y'all
- 9:57Speaker 1: delaying an opportunity because you don't have a plan. It's
- 10:01Speaker 1: not all tied to money. It's tied it's tied to
- 10:04Speaker 1: when you have an opportunity to be successful, you take
- 10:07Speaker 1: advantage of when you have an opportunity to close out
- 10:09Speaker 1: of deal. You do it when you have an opportunity.
- 10:11Speaker 1: When I put my truck in the shop, I put
- 10:13Speaker 1: my shock in the truck, even though it says a
- 10:15Speaker 1: schedule B. I put my truck in the shop so
- 10:17Speaker 1: it could be repaired. That was the number of reason
- 10:20Speaker 1: I put my truck in the shop so it could
- 10:22Speaker 1: be repaired. Schedule B was was? Was was the wash? Well?
- 10:26Speaker 1: I knew, I knew I'm gonna get that phone call
- 10:29Speaker 1: Mr McDonald, Um, we have some other things that we
- 10:33Speaker 1: found I do. That call was doting. I know it.
- 10:37Speaker 1: So why am I shocked? I was not shocked at all.
- 10:40Speaker 1: But most you guys are shocked. Like when the ranks do,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you shocked. When the mortgages do, you're shocked. They're a
- 10:47Speaker 1: credit cards that you charge things, all comes back and
- 10:50Speaker 1: they want that money. You're shocked. Stop being shocked. Life
- 10:55Speaker 1: is not a bit you know what, You're gonna be shocked.
- 10:58Speaker 1: One day you don't wake up, that's when you should
- 11:00Speaker 1: be shocked. God, I thought I had one more day.
- 11:04Speaker 1: That's the day I'm gonna be shocked because I want
- 11:07Speaker 1: to live till I want to be like they lived
- 11:10Speaker 1: in the Bible. You know the Bible. They lived hundreds
- 11:12Speaker 1: and fifty years. So two hum the years I want
- 11:16Speaker 1: I want. I want Moses years. That's what I want.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I want the Bible years of my life. So when
- 11:21Speaker 1: I actually passed away my they say your body holders
- 11:25Speaker 1: you your soul or your spirit holders above your body.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I would look down to be I kept alaving it.
- 11:31Speaker 1: I thought I had one more day, one more day.
- 11:35Speaker 1: That's the only time in life you should be shocked.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But when you live in life and you plan it
- 11:39Speaker 1: out right, you should not be shocked. And on my show,
- 11:42Speaker 1: moneymaking conversation is all about opportunities it's always believing that
- 11:46Speaker 1: you have a plan to be successful. And today we
- 11:49Speaker 1: got a great show coming up in my next break.
- 11:51Speaker 1: It is my man, Matthew Knows. Okay, you don't know
- 11:54Speaker 1: who Matthew knows. I know who. He has been known

- 13:23Speaker 1: You know those things when you read somebody book where
- 13:25Speaker 1: they're really from, you know, graduate of Fisk University. Know
- 13:28Speaker 1: those things when you read their book. I found out
- 13:31Speaker 1: by reading this book that they're singing talents of his
- 13:35Speaker 1: daughters actually came from him. But I didn't know that.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I thought he was just a

- 14:10Speaker 1: music business courses. On my show today, we'll be discussing
- 14:13Speaker 1: all of these things and this new book Racism in
- 14:16Speaker 1: the Eyes of a Child. Please, welcome to money making conversations.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Been long time since I've seen this, brother, Matthew knows.
- 14:25Speaker 1: But hey, Matthew Man, brother, I had to go back.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I'm telling my staff that we know. We first cross
- 14:33Speaker 1: path in n eighteen eighty two when I was launching
- 14:36Speaker 1: my career as a comedian in Houston on the hip
- 14:39Speaker 1: hop comedy Stopping at the same time you was launching
- 14:42Speaker 1: the brand of Destiny's Child and he used to perform
- 14:45Speaker 1: and my comedic come here by Commicle. That's how we're
- 14:47Speaker 1: at that's how long we go back twenty five years
- 14:50Speaker 1: there you go, So you know, so it's like you
- 14:52Speaker 1: know when you see and I thought that that's why
- 14:54Speaker 1: I'm really excited. It's been like too much. We were
- 14:56Speaker 1: able to father get you on the show just to
- 14:58Speaker 1: talk about what you're doing out man with the entrepreneurship
- 15:01Speaker 1: and entertainment is exactly what I'm doing. And I thought,
- 15:04Speaker 1: we have such a natural marriage, and I don't want
- 15:06Speaker 1: this to be the only time we talk because of
- 15:09Speaker 1: the fact that you were on the same lanes. And
- 15:12Speaker 1: you know, my show is heard on Serious X at
- 15:14Speaker 1: one forty one, which is on Howard University campus, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: my show was heard also on channel one forty two
- 15:19Speaker 1: Serious Exam, which is on all the HBCU campuses. And
- 15:23Speaker 1: so you are professor at Texas Southerton University. So when
- 15:25Speaker 1: you do these classes talking to these young minds, these
- 15:28Speaker 1: millennial minds, what is your approach to getting giving them
- 15:31Speaker 1: the right tools for success? Before we get into your book, well,
- 15:34Speaker 1: you know, I I teach at a critical power. I
- 15:37Speaker 1: keep from my thirty eight o'clock which is the toughest
- 15:40Speaker 1: time you can teach young people. But you know, we
- 15:43Speaker 1: have fun with it. And the first thing, I keep
- 15:46Speaker 1: this critical thinking first. So critical thinking and say and
- 15:50Speaker 1: so so when you when you because you know the
- 15:53Speaker 1: point in your life where you have all this knowledge.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And that's what I've learned about myself. You know, I
- 15:57Speaker 1: have all this knowledge and I'm sharing it now with
- 15:59Speaker 1: my all that money making conversation. And you said you're
- 16:02Speaker 1: sharing it an institutional, Uh, like Texas Southern University, but
- 16:06Speaker 1: also knows institute what exactly is knows institute well, most
- 16:11Speaker 1: institute is e learning online continuing education. Uh. You know.
- 16:17Speaker 1: People want to learn something and they want to they
- 16:20Speaker 1: want to go online and learn it, and they want
- 16:22Speaker 1: to get it then and there. Uh. And we offer
- 16:25Speaker 1: programs and I would be calling on all of the
- 16:28Speaker 1: ABC News. I'm actually getting on the plane today on
- 16:32Speaker 1: my way to Clark University. Uh. We will offer these
- 16:36Speaker 1: e learning courses and also a way for HBC used
- 16:41Speaker 1: to have as a fundraiser as well. People need to
- 16:44Speaker 1: understand what you're trying to do in the entertainment and
- 16:48Speaker 1: entrepreneur world. And you're affecting because you're a professor at
- 16:51Speaker 1: Texas Southern University. You're in the School of Communication and
- 16:54Speaker 1: School of Business. Two key areas for that millennial movement
- 16:59Speaker 1: at that team. The third or four you're affecting minds.
- 17:02Speaker 1: And then you have the Noose Institute. You're affecting mind
- 17:05Speaker 1: Let's focus on that. If you don't mind and talk
- 17:08Speaker 1: about why did you start the Noose Institute, Well, you know,
- 17:12Speaker 1: it's education and academia has always been a passion of mine.
- 17:16Speaker 1: So the Those Institute is specifically for entrepreneurship, uh, entertainment
- 17:22Speaker 1: and music business and over a thousand courses uh. And
- 17:26Speaker 1: you can just simply go to those Institute dot com
- 17:30Speaker 1: and you can review all of the courses stuff. And
- 17:34Speaker 1: then for the HBC used this the Matthew Knows Institute, UH,
- 17:38Speaker 1: and that's over thousand of courses as well. And again
- 17:41Speaker 1: for e learning online education, well that's where everybody going,
- 17:44Speaker 1: you know, I know the Phoenix University was I think
- 17:47Speaker 1: the first one that jumped out there would and e learning.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Then also you start seeing all these athletes and especially
- 17:53Speaker 1: individuals who didn't have a lot of time starting to
- 17:55Speaker 1: show up with these these online degrees. So it's not
- 17:58Speaker 1: something like a stigma anymore. An online degrees are really
- 18:02Speaker 1: like like the social media world, the digital world is
- 18:05Speaker 1: part of the process now. So so I say that
- 18:07Speaker 1: to people understand, oh when they would they have the
- 18:09Speaker 1: same married would they have the same credibility if I
- 18:12Speaker 1: went to a you know, a brick and mortar institution,
- 18:15Speaker 1: and yes, it will correct. But what sign is actually,
- 18:18Speaker 1: if you've taken the online course, you know, it's actually
- 18:21Speaker 1: harder than sitting in the class because you've got to
- 18:24Speaker 1: continue focus when you're taking about yourself. So it's it's
- 18:28Speaker 1: a lot harder actually not easier. Cool. Now, with that
- 18:32Speaker 1: being said, we're gonna get a little bit about your
- 18:34Speaker 1: book because I read it. I read it yesterday. I
- 18:37Speaker 1: really did read this book, and the thing about it
- 18:39Speaker 1: that I took away from it was the fact that
- 18:42Speaker 1: you know, I I was born and raised in Houston, Texas.
- 18:45Speaker 1: You're born and you're born in mary and Alabama and
- 18:48Speaker 1: spent a lot of time in gats in this area
- 18:50Speaker 1: of the country where your your grandparents had three hundred
- 18:53Speaker 1: acres that they don't have today. Which I always hear
- 18:55Speaker 1: these stories. I just get sad that what if stories
- 18:58Speaker 1: of life and so in and high hid shape the
- 19:01Speaker 1: Matthew knows of today and the thing that came out
- 19:04Speaker 1: of this book that I really commend you for was
- 19:06Speaker 1: to talk about therapy, because therapy is something that African American,
- 19:11Speaker 1: especially men, don't even admit to even considerate. Why I
- 19:14Speaker 1: was it important to admit that in your book? For
- 19:17Speaker 1: for that reason you just said, Uh, you know, we
- 19:20Speaker 1: also have a stigma that he's crazy, has no control. Uh.
- 19:26Speaker 1: And when it's just the opposite. The people that go
- 19:29Speaker 1: to therapy are people are that are just the opposite.
- 19:32Speaker 1: They're smart. Uh, they know that they know that asks
- 19:35Speaker 1: for help. Uh, that's stress, that's not weakness. Right. But
- 19:40Speaker 1: but then again, you know I know that, Uh, I
- 19:42Speaker 1: know that when you when you admit that, that almost
- 19:44Speaker 1: feels like a weakness. You know what I'm saying. I
- 19:46Speaker 1: know that you know that that's us Black Black the
- 19:49Speaker 1: black community or any minority community tend to allow, you know,
- 19:53Speaker 1: situations to be downplayed, you know, whether it's in this situation.
- 19:57Speaker 1: When you talked about it, I realized, Wow, this is
- 20:00Speaker 1: this is something I really need to talk about and
- 20:02Speaker 1: bring out because that's courageous to me. That's that's that's
- 20:05Speaker 1: commendable to me. And also its shaped the way you
- 20:09Speaker 1: you approached your life correct trying to get rid of
- 20:12Speaker 1: these demons, trying to give these emotional demons that you
- 20:15Speaker 1: didn't know what was affecting you and you're just living
- 20:17Speaker 1: your life thinking you as being normal exactly. Uh. Started
- 20:21Speaker 1: for me having these panic attacks and not knowing where
- 20:24Speaker 1: they were coming from and putting on an e k
- 20:26Speaker 1: G all weekend, and the doctor said, hey, you have
- 20:29Speaker 1: nothing wrong with you physically, it's all mental. Uh. And
- 20:32Speaker 1: that's why I started going to a therapist and beginning
- 20:36Speaker 1: to sign out and understand who I was and the
- 20:39Speaker 1: things in my childhood. I had racial trauma right right,
- 20:44Speaker 1: and that trauma as you, as you abous you're outlined
- 20:46Speaker 1: in the book, kind of like a dealt with you
- 20:49Speaker 1: and made you the person you are in your emotional life,
- 20:52Speaker 1: your relationships, and also the person you are currently. Are
- 20:55Speaker 1: you a happier person now because of therapy? Are you?
- 20:58Speaker 1: Are you disappointed because you didn't figure this out earlier?
- 21:01Speaker 1: What is your approach to it now? After? I'm very
- 21:05Speaker 1: very happy. Um, you know, I'm grateful. Uh, remarried. I've
- 21:10Speaker 1: been married, not five years. Most people I don't know
- 21:14Speaker 1: I've been married. I'm even married. But uh, life is good,
- 21:18Speaker 1: you know. Twenty fifth year of music. We're all in
- 21:20Speaker 1: my kids really really the unknown kids. Okay, cool, Okay,
- 21:26Speaker 1: you got grand grand kids? Yeah, I got a thirty
- 21:33Speaker 1: year old my grandson who's a pretty good basketball player,
- 21:38Speaker 1: right right, so lunch board. Yeah, I remember, I remember.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I remember when I was doing a casting for for
- 21:45Speaker 1: sister sister and she couldn't come in because the fact
- 21:48Speaker 1: that you know, she got married and moved in that
- 21:50Speaker 1: part of life. And I'm really happy with what she's
- 21:52Speaker 1: doing in life now. But what I want to say
- 21:54Speaker 1: to you, Matthew, is that we didn't really get a
- 21:56Speaker 1: full story on you. Will you come back on my show?
- 22:00Speaker 1: I would love to come back and as many times
- 22:03Speaker 1: as you because I'm just going to let you know
- 22:05Speaker 1: because what you're doing, because I really want to talk
- 22:07Speaker 1: about the Nose Institute and we get more detail about
- 22:10Speaker 1: the book. But I want to get people an outline
- 22:11Speaker 1: of what the book was because I read it and
- 22:14Speaker 1: I was moved by I've learned so many things about you.
- 22:17Speaker 1: Learned you were a singer, learned that you was an
- 22:19Speaker 1: incredible basketball player, But more important, I learned that you
- 22:22Speaker 1: were honest. Man. You're honest to tell us that you
- 22:24Speaker 1: have weaknesses, and you will to share those weaknesses to
- 22:27Speaker 1: who telling us I went to therapy. If something's wrong
- 22:30Speaker 1: with you, fix it, don't don't, don't deny it, and
- 22:33Speaker 1: please come back on my show, Matthew. Okay, I will
- 22:36Speaker 1: just lastly the Matthew Knows dot Com and you can
- 22:40Speaker 1: find out everything about me. Yeah, we would do that
- 22:42Speaker 1: to be played back on podcast Apple and My Heart
- 22:44Speaker 1: and we get you back next month. Man, I gotta
- 22:46Speaker 1: have your back. Brother tooth breaks. Okay, all right, thank you,
- 22:50Speaker 1: you say to yourself who calls U Sean Shell Rickie smiling,
- 22:53Speaker 1: You got to get out of your own city and
- 22:56Speaker 1: leave in the order to group because of this. Don't
- 22:58Speaker 1: get bigger as long as inside of this both bigger
- 23:02Speaker 1: when you put it in a poet. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 23:04Speaker 1: please walk on the phone, the one and only Charlie Wilson.
- 23:07Speaker 1: So many people have really been trying to give me
- 23:09Speaker 1: to do a gospel record for so many years, and
- 23:11Speaker 1: I have been promising God that I would. I got
- 23:14Speaker 1: him out to do something. But you know, my baby,
- 23:19Speaker 1: come on, man, put a little Jesus in the song.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Come on, brothers, patty little bell, and you know what
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm gonna be doing concerts and little clubs. Thank you,
- 23:28Speaker 1: Thank you for you said that I can touch you
- 23:30Speaker 1: when I'm singing with my hands. Thank you. See I

- 24:05Speaker 1: We're just walking around with my program director Adele and uh.
- 24:10Speaker 1: We saw her and she had a booth set up
- 24:12Speaker 1: and she was marketing her wares to the college crowd,
- 24:14Speaker 1: the high schoolers who about to go to call, letting
- 24:16Speaker 1: them know. And that's what you have to do as
- 24:18Speaker 1: an entrepreneur. She's a licensed real estate agent in Texas
- 24:21Speaker 1: for more than twenty years. She also owns as we
- 24:24Speaker 1: said owner and designed a lofty bed skirts that's what
- 24:27Speaker 1: she had at the College Expo in Atlanta, Georgia. So
- 24:30Speaker 1: she's used it, so she was in the Atlanta marketing this.
- 24:33Speaker 1: It's a simple new twist on a classic accessory. Her
- 24:36Speaker 1: bed skirts will hire college dum room clutter underneath the bed.
- 24:40Speaker 1: What sets Lofty bed skirts apart is the patent of
- 24:43Speaker 1: twelve panel design that not only conceals but allows for
- 24:47Speaker 1: easy access. She showed that to me too. Let me
- 24:49Speaker 1: show you the patent. She flipped it back and flipped
- 24:52Speaker 1: it back and went, WHOA I did? I did that
- 24:54Speaker 1: van of white will and uh, this u S pattern
- 24:58Speaker 1: was approved in December. Don't go out there and steal it.
- 25:01Speaker 1: This lady has her think patent and it's been patented
- 25:05Speaker 1: and Lofty Best Skirts. It's also available online. Please work
- 25:09Speaker 1: on the money making conversation, Xena Bussade. You know I
- 25:16Speaker 1: laid you out in that interview and that in the intro.
- 25:18Speaker 1: I know that. I know that because you are a
- 25:21Speaker 1: business entrepreneur and people need to know who you are
- 25:24Speaker 1: and I've learned that. You know, I met you. I
- 25:26Speaker 1: met you and um Atlanta and you were selling your
- 25:30Speaker 1: your bed skirts and it's called why how did this
- 25:34Speaker 1: idea come about. And I'm gonna let you know that
- 25:37Speaker 1: by broadcast on Serious XM Channel one for the one
- 25:40Speaker 1: which is Howard University, and also broadcast on Serious XM
- 25:43Speaker 1: Channel one for the two which HBCU campuses. So know
- 25:47Speaker 1: that your audience that you're trying to sell to is listening.
- 25:50Speaker 1: And also I'm altion you know Busy Love of Naty
- 25:53Speaker 1: as well as a podcast, so the mama's and papa's
- 25:56Speaker 1: listening to. So do your things. So this show us
- 25:58Speaker 1: about you. This your opportunity to put your put your
- 26:00Speaker 1: put you put your stamp, as they said, the stamp
- 26:03Speaker 1: on all lofty bed skirts. And let me let you
- 26:06Speaker 1: know that as we speak, I am at the University
- 26:09Speaker 1: of Houston, which I believe is your all mamrs. We
- 26:13Speaker 1: just get around, We just get around. Now what you're
- 26:15Speaker 1: going over Universe Houston? What's happening over there? They have
- 26:19Speaker 1: their new student orientations this morning, So again I am
- 26:22Speaker 1: here with my UH display set up and and have
- 26:26Speaker 1: information available for all the students as they come in
- 26:30Speaker 1: as they get ready for their new activities and called
- 26:34Speaker 1: careers for the two thousand eighteen for a year. But
- 26:37Speaker 1: let me tell you how I got this started back
- 26:40Speaker 1: in two thousand and eight when my daughter began college
- 26:44Speaker 1: at Sam Houston University. You know, as a proud parent,
- 26:47Speaker 1: I'm all excited. Like most proud parents, we have no
- 26:49Speaker 1: idea what all they need is start school. And we
- 26:53Speaker 1: went to visit her dorm room. And the dorm rooms,
- 26:56Speaker 1: of course are very small, but they're not designed to
- 27:01Speaker 1: house everything that the kids have at home. So there
- 27:04Speaker 1: you need. Uh. The beds are just thirty four inches
- 27:07Speaker 1: in height, allow for storage underneath, but yourt typical bed
- 27:11Speaker 1: skirt does not conceal, doesn't go to the floor. So
- 27:15Speaker 1: all the things that your kids are are forced to
- 27:18Speaker 1: put under that bed to hide or the store as
- 27:22Speaker 1: exposed to their roommates whoever might come visit, or what
- 27:26Speaker 1: have you now, and also the students, you know, all
- 27:30Speaker 1: that things that are exposed, and you can't concentrate on
- 27:33Speaker 1: your studies because you've got all this jook and all
- 27:35Speaker 1: this clutter. So our bed skirts are designed to go
- 27:38Speaker 1: to the floor. I designed this for my door in
- 27:40Speaker 1: two thousand eight when she went to school. So when
- 27:42Speaker 1: usually designed Okay, let's slow down there. What does your design?
- 27:45Speaker 1: What is what? How do you design something for your daughter,
- 27:48Speaker 1: you know, or you or you your your seamstress, or
- 27:51Speaker 1: you know somebody who can sew. How did that come about? Now,
- 27:55Speaker 1: I'm not a seamstress, but I can sew a straight lines.
- 27:58Speaker 1: So I made her, you know, I made her for her.
- 28:02Speaker 1: And what you know, God gave me the vision of
- 28:05Speaker 1: the best skirt, you know, going to the floor. But
- 28:07Speaker 1: not only does the best skirt go to the floor,
- 28:09Speaker 1: it has five panels on each end. Because I wanted
- 28:12Speaker 1: her to be able to get to her things that
- 28:14Speaker 1: were stored under the bed, you know, quick and easy
- 28:16Speaker 1: because you're running in, gotta run out to go to
- 28:18Speaker 1: class without listening up the whole entower beds right, because
- 28:21Speaker 1: you know, you didn't want to just just flip one
- 28:23Speaker 1: massive flip over. You're not to worry about you just
- 28:26Speaker 1: look on one raise one pound, ain't there? Raise that pound?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Is ain't there? Raise the middle pound? There you go,
- 28:32Speaker 1: there you go. Whether it's something at the end of
- 28:34Speaker 1: the bed or the middle of the bed or the
- 28:36Speaker 1: head of the bed, doesn't matter where you need to
- 28:37Speaker 1: get to. You can get to it quick and easy
- 28:40Speaker 1: and grab it and run out the room and go
- 28:41Speaker 1: to class. Tennessee, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia, all those
- 28:47Speaker 1: schools over there, they're just crazy about each other. So
- 28:50Speaker 1: I want to I want to bring you back. I
- 28:52Speaker 1: want to I want to be I'm a fan of
- 28:53Speaker 1: what you're doing because you're a young entrepreneur. Tell everybody
- 28:56Speaker 1: how they can buy your product online. You can hit

- 29:19Speaker 1: My next guest has no stop signs. You know. I
- 29:23Speaker 1: ran it to him by eight months ago. I was
- 29:25Speaker 1: so impressed with him as a chef and his energy
- 29:28Speaker 1: that every Saturday on my Facebook, on my Facebook, he
- 29:32Speaker 1: posted a video of him cooking something. That's how much
- 29:35Speaker 1: I believe in his talents. Is at nine a m.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Eastern Standard time on my Facebook, and I got almost
- 29:40Speaker 1: eight hundred thousand followers. So it's not like what follows
- 29:44Speaker 1: you got on your Facebook. Now, I got eight hundred thous.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I got a lot of people wants to like Rashawn McDonald.

- 30:27Speaker 1: is it important to talk to the chef, your well
- 30:29Speaker 1: well thought of all he s Maybe you just cause
- 30:33Speaker 1: you cook it and you cut you you a lot
- 30:35Speaker 1: of people to think it on my nerves. You know
- 30:38Speaker 1: they can do something. They can do a little cag
- 30:40Speaker 1: You know people always stop me, I can, I can,
- 30:42Speaker 1: I'll bake you or you on TV. Let's stop this conversation.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Just somebody puts you on TV. You ain't out baking me, okay,
- 30:50Speaker 1: So you can you can tell. You know what you
- 30:51Speaker 1: do with that baker now they're putting you can tell,

- 31:16Speaker 1: about to boot you off the show. I've always got,
- 31:21Speaker 1: always got everybody out the end that they see. You know,
- 31:24Speaker 1: That's one of the major things about Comeback Kitchen is
- 31:27Speaker 1: I'm a competitive chef and that's what I've been doing
- 31:30Speaker 1: for the pass nine years on Food Network is competing
- 31:33Speaker 1: in their shows, and that's one of the reasons why
- 31:36Speaker 1: they keep bringing me back, not only doing how the
- 31:40Speaker 1: entertainment is, but I actually know what I'm talking about
- 31:43Speaker 1: when it comes to food and cooking great food because
- 31:46Speaker 1: it's about that. To come Back Kitchen, it's one of
- 31:48Speaker 1: those shows whether they're taking the from the highest rated
- 31:53Speaker 1: seasons and that really has the entertainment planning. They're bringing
- 31:57Speaker 1: us back to battle again teach other for another opportunity
- 32:02Speaker 1: to own Food Network Stop. What's the what's the goal
- 32:04Speaker 1: for you in this business of doing celebrity cooking and

- 32:18Speaker 1: I should just says festival. Uh and cooking showing your wares.
- 32:22Speaker 1: So yeah, So what's the goal? What's the end goal
- 32:25Speaker 1: for you? Sure if you've got books out there, you
- 32:26Speaker 1: got seasoning on the shelves of a major grocery store,
- 32:30Speaker 1: what's the goal? Man? I'm lucky I'm talking to you. Man.
- 32:32Speaker 1: You might fry me up having to having somebody like
- 32:37Speaker 1: you in my corner. That tells me that I don't
- 32:39Speaker 1: win it. And I got the favorite God for me
- 32:42Speaker 1: most importantly, But my my ultimate goal at the end
- 32:46Speaker 1: of the day is to be a household name. I
- 32:49Speaker 1: want to be just like the the body plays, the
- 32:53Speaker 1: Emerald of God see us all of those. I want
- 32:55Speaker 1: to have a household name where everyone knows what's who's chefting,
- 33:00Speaker 1: he is, what he does, and everyone wants to cook
- 33:03Speaker 1: something that Chef Denard and my ultimately in game, it's
- 33:07Speaker 1: the it's the one they have my own show, so
- 33:10Speaker 1: I can open up my household and let people see
- 33:13Speaker 1: what it's like a day a day with Chef Denard
- 33:16Speaker 1: on every day with Chef Denard. Rather, I'm gonna tell
- 33:21Speaker 1: you my favorite show on it's The Pioneer Woman. I
- 33:24Speaker 1: don't know if anybody wants that that woman. You know,
- 33:32Speaker 1: she's so engaging and genuine and and those those are
- 33:37Speaker 1: the ones that I model myself after when people watch
- 33:40Speaker 1: me on shows like come Back Kids and Cut Through Kids,
- 33:42Speaker 1: and why they why they're so engaged with me is
- 33:45Speaker 1: because I'm that guy that you know, I'm that unhole,
- 33:49Speaker 1: that covenant brother, that father, whatever it is. And I
- 33:52Speaker 1: go on there and I just give the people just
- 33:54Speaker 1: who I am, genuinely. I don't put on the facade.
- 33:57Speaker 1: I'm this country guy originally from Mississippi that's only here
- 34:00Speaker 1: that loves now. That's that's really great because of the
- 34:05Speaker 1: fact that you know, we would look at these people,
- 34:07Speaker 1: the Bobby Flays, you look at the Rachel Raise, you know,
- 34:11Speaker 1: these people like there a lot of celebrities of TV
- 34:13Speaker 1: now are moving into the cooking arena and because of
- 34:16Speaker 1: the fact that it's something cool. But when I look
- 34:19Speaker 1: at your your special talent, I'm not gonna I'm not
- 34:21Speaker 1: gonna just say that because I put you on Facebook
- 34:24Speaker 1: and you are a very special talent because you casually
- 34:27Speaker 1: do what you do, and that means you do it
- 34:29Speaker 1: effort lely. That's why I love the Pioneer Woman. I
- 34:31Speaker 1: watched that woman. She's talking and she's mixing stuff. I'm going,
- 34:34Speaker 1: is that woman they're watching what she know story and
- 34:37Speaker 1: she's just talking away because that's what she do. That's
- 34:39Speaker 1: how passion, that's how gift. It's like Michael Jordan dunking
- 34:41Speaker 1: a basketball. Would anybody doubt that Michael Jordan can't talk
- 34:45Speaker 1: a basketball even now? He could probably talk a back
- 34:48Speaker 1: and if he if he don't talk a basketball, we're
- 34:49Speaker 1: gonna be shot. Somebody ready to go, somebody ready to go,
- 34:53Speaker 1: you know. And so that's how I look at you now.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Now this one, I want to make sure not you're
- 34:57Speaker 1: not gonna be doing no no flipping this time, like
- 34:59Speaker 1: even when you the last time and you crack, because
- 35:07Speaker 1: I'm tell you, if only floor he has, he kind
- 35:10Speaker 1: of go too far. And it ain't nothing to do
- 35:12Speaker 1: with the kitchen. It's outside. When the pans down, he
- 35:15Speaker 1: kind of loses his mind a little bit. He gets
- 35:18Speaker 1: too creative. And when he when he when he went
- 35:21Speaker 1: across that floor and flip and crashed, I was like, man, that'
- 35:26Speaker 1: when I first recognized it. Boy, this boy right here,
- 35:29Speaker 1: somebody need to manage him. You know, somebody put a
- 35:35Speaker 1: little buzzer in your head. You know when you when
- 35:36Speaker 1: the idea pop up, drop it the far the best
- 35:41Speaker 1: boone start Cooking Act. Let's let's tell us about the
- 35:45Speaker 1: Comeback Kitchen Man, because I enjoyed talking to you. What
- 35:47Speaker 1: is the goal of all the contestants on that show?
- 35:50Speaker 1: Tell us tell everybody high works so we can watch
- 35:53Speaker 1: it this Sunday. Yes, definitely the kids. They bring back
- 35:59Speaker 1: of the best of the best chefs, and we're all
- 36:02Speaker 1: fighting for in battle and for apart back on Food
- 36:07Speaker 1: Network Starts season fourteen, which come Back Kitchen in the
- 36:11Speaker 1: part of Food Network Start, it's the prequel, and what
- 36:15Speaker 1: we're doing is we're fighting for that that one seat,
- 36:18Speaker 1: that one seat on the platform to get back into
- 36:21Speaker 1: the rain of of food. They were start a battle
- 36:24Speaker 1: against electend to Elata more chefs for that title of
- 36:29Speaker 1: holding Food Network Start. A lot of people know me
- 36:32Speaker 1: from season twelve being to run her up. So that
- 36:35Speaker 1: was one of the reasons between between that and the
- 36:39Speaker 1: fact that I have so many fans that Eve Man
- 36:42Speaker 1: me on a regular basis saying that they loved me,
- 36:45Speaker 1: they want to see me back on TV. It was
- 36:48Speaker 1: a no brainer that I had to go back. I
- 36:50Speaker 1: had to go back, just up the mere fact I
- 36:53Speaker 1: have to give people what they want. When the fans
- 36:56Speaker 1: called for you, you gotta, you gotta, but you didn't
- 37:00Speaker 1: call me. You call me ro Sean. They want me
- 37:02Speaker 1: to come back on TV. What should I do? I said, boy,
- 37:05Speaker 1: if you're don't take your back back on that TV show,
- 37:09Speaker 1: you know, because he asked me a little common sense
- 37:12Speaker 1: stuff like, you know, like I'm really managing him. What
- 37:15Speaker 1: should I do? Boy? That ain't hard to see get
- 37:18Speaker 1: back on that show. I lean on you because I
- 37:21Speaker 1: see you in that light. I really do. And that's
- 37:25Speaker 1: why when I called you and I was talking to
- 37:27Speaker 1: you about that, you was like, look at you. You
- 37:30Speaker 1: ain't been back on TV tell years. And when you
- 37:33Speaker 1: was on there, you was the run up. If you
- 37:35Speaker 1: don't have to get your butt back on you said,
- 37:39Speaker 1: I said, all right, That's all you had to say
- 37:41Speaker 1: is this is what I gotta do. Run out of time.
- 37:44Speaker 1: It's the fact that every Sunday, this Sunday in particular,
- 37:47Speaker 1: you'll be on the Comeback Catches Round three. Uh Food network.
- 37:51Speaker 1: What time is does it air a PM cents or
- 37:56Speaker 1: nine pm Eastern NAPM Eastern. We didn'tlantic to NAPIM. We're
- 38:00Speaker 1: gonna watch. We're gonna put this on podcast. We're gonna
- 38:02Speaker 1: release it early so we can just let people know
- 38:04Speaker 1: that this happened. I'm putting on my Facebook page on
- 38:06Speaker 1: uh Saturday night. We're gonna put it on podcasts for
- 38:09Speaker 1: Apple and I Heart properly by Thursday and to be
- 38:12Speaker 1: on Serious X And we're gonna get this out here, man,
- 38:14Speaker 1: because I'm a fan and the world needs to know.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And you're gonna be on TV man. One day, I'll
- 38:19Speaker 1: be saying, my two favorite TV shows are gonna be
- 38:21Speaker 1: Chief and The Pine Neer Woman exactly. You know what,
- 38:27Speaker 1: they don't make the tune it tick morning cooking segment,
- 38:32Speaker 1: because I'm gonna make those duty that I made yesterday
- 38:36Speaker 1: come back kitchen. You're gonna see we're current on this show, man,
- 38:40Speaker 1: We're current on this show. We're keeping it real. Hey man,
- 38:42Speaker 1: tell your wife Pie you know I love her. He's
- 38:46Speaker 1: the father of nine kids, seven with his lovely wife
- 38:48Speaker 1: that I just said hi to. So he's not only
- 38:50Speaker 1: cooking in the kitchen my man is cooking in the badroom. Y'all. Hey,
- 38:58Speaker 1: this is Tasha Evans and I love to great restaurants
- 39:00Speaker 1: and more than that, I love great desserts. So does
- 39:03Speaker 1: ra Sean McDonald. Check out his new website. That's www
- 39:06Speaker 1: Rashan McDonald dot com. That's r U s h I
- 39:10Speaker 1: O N and McDonald is spelled just like the famous
- 39:12Speaker 1: restaurant chain guys. Rashaun is looking for great bakers for

- 39:17Speaker 1: fans for their incredible baking skills on his social media
- 39:19Speaker 1: and website. That can be your mom, friend, co worker,
- 39:22Speaker 1: a relative. It's forreather word today. Visit Rashan McDonald dot com.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I love that intro every time I hear it. I
- 39:29Speaker 1: love it because I'm not if I'm not broke, because
- 39:33Speaker 1: that's what we do on money make conversation. We have
- 39:34Speaker 1: a lot of I'm not broke conversation. But like I
- 39:37Speaker 1: said earlier, stop letting you your your reflection, that mirror,
- 39:41Speaker 1: that what you're looking in that mirror, turn it around,
- 39:43Speaker 1: make it positive. Motivate yourself to success by putting forth
- 39:47Speaker 1: an effort. My next guest has no problem putting forth
- 39:50Speaker 1: an effort. I'm fraternity brother. I got two fra turns
- 39:53Speaker 1: to have Matthew knows on earlier my fraternity brother. Now
- 39:56Speaker 1: I have another fraternity life memorable make a sci fi
- 40:00Speaker 1: He's the leader turning for the families of Trayvon Martin,
- 40:03Speaker 1: Michael Brown, Alicia Thomas, Stefan Clark with Sacramento who was
- 40:08Speaker 1: brutally shot by the Sacramento Police, Taqisha Clemens who was
- 40:12Speaker 1: rastled to the ground by police officers in the waffle
- 40:14Speaker 1: house in Alabama. He's a vanguarden to fight against police brutality.
- 40:18Speaker 1: He's an entrepreneur, he's an author. Please welcome to a
- 40:21Speaker 1: money making conversation by a good friend. Because we talk
- 40:23Speaker 1: at least six times a week, Attorney Benjamin Cropp at
- 40:29Speaker 1: least six times a week. Talked last night. You talked
- 40:32Speaker 1: about five times last week. Ben Uh. You know, man,
- 40:36Speaker 1: I first of all, and there's a there's a spurs
- 40:38Speaker 1: special passion I have for you because of what you do.
- 40:42Speaker 1: And I'm just watching you grow as a as a
- 40:45Speaker 1: as a businessman, as an entrepreneur, as an entertainer. You
- 40:48Speaker 1: know you just wanted to just practice law. Man, When
- 40:51Speaker 1: did it when did the lightbulb in a different direction
- 40:54Speaker 1: start happening and the Trayvon mart and you went in
- 40:56Speaker 1: there just to uh, you know, you know, just just
- 40:59Speaker 1: get a verdict of guilty for somebody who has committed
- 41:03Speaker 1: the crime that was wrong. We have video, you know,
- 41:05Speaker 1: we we have we have, we had, we had evidence.
- 41:08Speaker 1: This is the audio audio Rishan, And you know you
- 41:14Speaker 1: were there at the beginning. I'm a civil rights lawyer,
- 41:18Speaker 1: and everything that happens beyond that is just graving. And
- 41:23Speaker 1: you never know where life is gonna take you. You know,
- 41:26Speaker 1: when you and I talked, we always talk about don't
- 41:29Speaker 1: limit yourself. You know, you never ever put limpus on yourself.
- 41:33Speaker 1: And so that's what I'm doing. I'm following a lot
- 41:36Speaker 1: of good advice from you about this, uh television and
- 41:42Speaker 1: media branding and such. What we did for tray Vionn
- 41:46Speaker 1: was just very organic and sincere because it was all
- 41:50Speaker 1: from the heart. We took the case because his seventeen
- 41:54Speaker 1: year old child had been killed, and you said that's
- 41:57Speaker 1: not right, and it became the number one news story
- 42:00Speaker 1: in the world from that point. Every time I walked
- 42:04Speaker 1: in airports, wherever I walk, people recognize who I was
- 42:07Speaker 1: because I believe the passion that A displayed and advocating
- 42:12Speaker 1: for Trayvon. And then after that the phone just kept ringing. Uh.
- 42:18Speaker 1: And so now I'm doing a national law firm to
- 42:21Speaker 1: being crump law firms. So we should try to help
- 42:24Speaker 1: more people. Uh, We've just sued the National Basketball Association.
- 42:30Speaker 1: We think not only will we have that family, but
- 42:33Speaker 1: we'll make cod sale changes as it relates to uh,
- 42:37Speaker 1: these sudden cardiac events that most high performance after lets
- 42:43Speaker 1: have a chance of experiencing, and whether they live or
- 42:46Speaker 1: die is going to depend on the rapid response of
- 42:50Speaker 1: appropriate medical attention. I mean these are high school players,
- 42:54Speaker 1: college players, and so life is evolving until we have
- 42:58Speaker 1: evidence of innocence. To night that you pretty much shepherded
- 43:02Speaker 1: me to do, and we talked about what is it
- 43:06Speaker 1: if you were giving the platform, would you want to
- 43:08Speaker 1: do or tell the world? And I said, if I
- 43:11Speaker 1: had my white reshion, I would want to tell them
- 43:13Speaker 1: about due process of the law and the fact that
- 43:18Speaker 1: we don't always get equal justice, but we need to
- 43:21Speaker 1: be educated about it. And you took it from there
- 43:23Speaker 1: and said, on these wrong for convictions, everybody needs to
- 43:27Speaker 1: know that it can happen to you too, and let's
- 43:29Speaker 1: tell the inspirational story. So it's just been a journey
- 43:33Speaker 1: with Shine and today is the fulfillment of one of
- 43:37Speaker 1: those UH plans that we had that we made reality.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Ever there you put a lot of personal time with them.
- 43:45Speaker 1: It's a limited serial. Let me just tell everybody they
- 43:48Speaker 1: gave us four episodes because it's entertainment, you know, just
- 43:51Speaker 1: because we have a good spirit, we have a good idea.
- 43:55Speaker 1: We want to tell the story, the motivational story about
- 43:58Speaker 1: people who've been in jail for decades, how they come out,
- 44:01Speaker 1: how they dealt with the circumstances, how they came out
- 44:04Speaker 1: real positive people. These are people that you wouldn't even
- 44:06Speaker 1: know walking down the street would were in jail for
- 44:09Speaker 1: that long because they didn't let the system beat them.
- 44:12Speaker 1: We went to Atlanta, Georgia. We went to Hartford, Connecticut.
- 44:16Speaker 1: We went to Dallas, Texas, went to Portland, Oregon. I
- 44:19Speaker 1: say that to let you know that unjust is happening
- 44:23Speaker 1: all over this country, correct, Ben Cromp, absolutely going any
- 44:27Speaker 1: court room and Americans said in the back and usc
- 44:30Speaker 1: justice is anything but equal. Now, why did you do
- 44:34Speaker 1: this show? We're telling people why it was important to
- 44:36Speaker 1: do a show because you know it's right in your wheelhouse,
- 44:40Speaker 1: you know, a vorce for the unheard UH second chance opportunities,
- 44:45Speaker 1: motivating people to realize that speak up, speak up, don't
- 44:49Speaker 1: give up. Yep, you know rashon. Let me tell people
- 44:54Speaker 1: who might not know. Evidence of Innocence is about wrongfully
- 44:59Speaker 1: convicted people who have been exonerated by clear and convincing
- 45:04Speaker 1: evidence and DNA evidence, And so it was so important
- 45:09Speaker 1: for me to do this show. Rochane and I were
- 45:13Speaker 1: talking about, you know, what would you wanna do if
- 45:16Speaker 1: you could communicate to the masses, Because more people watch
- 45:20Speaker 1: TV than you, they'll ever know what happened inside of
- 45:23Speaker 1: the courtroom. And I said, I would want to try
- 45:26Speaker 1: to affect the hearts and minds of future jurors to
- 45:29Speaker 1: put a very real show on TV different and that
- 45:33Speaker 1: gives the real experience of what many black people facing
- 45:37Speaker 1: the courtroom. And this is one of the most realistic
- 45:42Speaker 1: but yet inspirational UH television shows about black people in
- 45:47Speaker 1: the criminal justice system that has ever been produced. And
- 45:51Speaker 1: I mean that from the heart. Don't take my word
- 45:53Speaker 1: that I want you to watch UH these four weeks
- 45:55Speaker 1: and you will see that people's faith and families have
- 46:00Speaker 1: overcome just most horrible injustices you would ever imagine. And
- 46:05Speaker 1: as Rashaun and I kept saying to the TV one executives,
- 46:09Speaker 1: this is important to your audience because it can happen
- 46:13Speaker 1: to them. It can happen to their family members, that
- 46:15Speaker 1: can happen to their loved ones. There are a hundred
- 46:18Speaker 1: thousand people sitting in American prisons who are completely innocent,
- 46:24Speaker 1: didn't do anything, but yet they are there. And unfortunately
- 46:30Speaker 1: the highest percentage of those people are Black people, especially
- 46:34Speaker 1: black men. And that's why I wanted to do this
- 46:37Speaker 1: show because I was thinking about us watches tonight ever,
- 46:42Speaker 1: watching to night ever, This of Innocence TV one at
- 46:44Speaker 1: MPM Eastern Standard Time. Ben Craft is the host. We'll
- 46:47Speaker 1: be right back on more. We'll be right back with
- 46:49Speaker 1: more from Marsan McDonald and money Making Conversations. Some money
- 46:53Speaker 1: making Conversations. Rashan McDonald is uniquely positioned to provide a
- 46:56Speaker 1: step by step, easy to understand blueprint that drives listeners
- 47:00Speaker 1: to realize their dreams and aspirations. Until you do the
- 47:03Speaker 1: business plan, or incorporate or actually create that product or
- 47:07Speaker 1: start selling products, the universe doesn't have to deal with
- 47:09Speaker 1: money Making Conversations is an innovative platform that delivers financial
- 47:13Speaker 1: literacy to help everyone with the brand success. It's good
- 47:16Speaker 1: to have a money making conversation with somebody that makes money. Hi,
- 47:23Speaker 1: this is Sean McDonald. You're listening to Money Making Conversation
- 47:26Speaker 1: just to show about relationships that business relationship, life relationships,
- 47:31Speaker 1: social relationships that can turn around and make you money.
- 47:34Speaker 1: A lot of people don't understand the value of entrepreneurship.
- 47:38Speaker 1: All tell the people on the daily basis that you
- 47:40Speaker 1: are a brand. Social media has solely totally changed the
- 47:44Speaker 1: game on how you communicate with people. Um, you communicate
- 47:47Speaker 1: with them direct messaging. You know, celebrities, you can actually
- 47:50Speaker 1: reach them through their social media. My next guest, he's
- 47:53Speaker 1: a twoth star and I'm sure he has that same problem,
- 47:57Speaker 1: you know, especially you know he raised the bar NASCAR
- 48:00Speaker 1: on February when he became the highest finishing African American
- 48:05Speaker 1: driver at the world. Right now, Daytona five hundred, when
- 48:09Speaker 1: you took the checker flag in the second position. Please,
- 48:12Speaker 1: welcome to money Making Conversation. Darryl Bubba Wallace. How's it
- 48:19Speaker 1: going there? If that ain't a race car? Name a
- 48:21Speaker 1: NASCAR name. Brother, it's there, it's there, man, And you
- 48:28Speaker 1: threw there and you hung on that there there you dude,
- 48:31Speaker 1: I'm from Houston Tech. You can't throw out that little
- 48:33Speaker 1: country and not let me catch you that dare. How
- 48:35Speaker 1: about there? Hey, I'm from Alabama. So it's so you're
- 48:40Speaker 1: slid from Alabama and now you're open to Charlotte there,
- 48:42Speaker 1: and so you just slid across all these Southern states
- 48:47Speaker 1: every language, that's right. So I was off there. I
- 48:51Speaker 1: was just telling you that you were based on in Concord, uh,
- 48:54Speaker 1: North Carolina, which is right outside of Charlotte. Then my
- 48:57Speaker 1: daughter used to play a lot of it. She used
- 48:58Speaker 1: to be a national touring UH tennis player and we
- 49:01Speaker 1: used to go up to Concorde and play those major
- 49:03Speaker 1: tennis tournaments. Okay, I know how expensive that that that is.
- 49:07Speaker 1: That's why you people talk about golf being expensive. That's
- 49:10Speaker 1: why you see tiger Wood where the rest that well,
- 49:13Speaker 1: golf's kind of expensive. Same thing tennis. You know where
- 49:16Speaker 1: the rest of what is on the Serena and Venus,
- 49:19Speaker 1: that's it. Nobody else it's expensive you know, to put into.
- 49:23Speaker 1: Now you're going into a sport. My man, whoa where
- 49:28Speaker 1: the checkbook writing is huge. That's right, walk us back
- 49:33Speaker 1: a little bit before we talk about that, that historical
- 49:37Speaker 1: moment at Daytona five art and plus we're gonna talk
- 49:39Speaker 1: about what you're doing the day. But really I want
- 49:41Speaker 1: to give my my listeners, your fans, and opportunities to
- 49:44Speaker 1: hear a little bit about your journey the Darrel. I
- 49:47Speaker 1: remember when I watched the press conference when your mom
- 49:50Speaker 1: came and to hug yous. You was in tears, and
- 49:53Speaker 1: you know, it was such an for me as an
- 49:55Speaker 1: African American. It was such a special moment because even
- 49:58Speaker 1: in today we got tea, we still sitting records, we're
- 50:01Speaker 1: still breaking barrious and that's important. And I don't want
- 50:04Speaker 1: to like gloss over that because of the fact that
- 50:08Speaker 1: you are a role model, you feel, and being a
- 50:11Speaker 1: role model that puts additional pressure because people want you
- 50:14Speaker 1: to repeat it so quickly. Well he's there now, you know,
- 50:18Speaker 1: Tiger Woods has come back from injury. People want him
- 50:20Speaker 1: to win the Masters immediately. You know, you know, they
- 50:23Speaker 1: just won't. They won't. They won't results sometimes so quickly.
- 50:25Speaker 1: So talk about getting started in NASCAR. If if a
- 50:29Speaker 1: person has a level of interest and walking through the
- 50:32Speaker 1: ticketr time and walking through the steps. Yeah. So I
- 50:35Speaker 1: I started out race when I was nine years old,
- 50:38Speaker 1: Nan years old, Nan years old. That's right. Yeah, you
- 50:40Speaker 1: don't need a driver's license to drive a NASCAR so, uh,
- 50:43Speaker 1: you just have the checkbook to go out and buy
- 50:45Speaker 1: a go cart and to be successful and until be it.
- 50:48Speaker 1: So uh, I can't let it. See, I'm for fill
- 50:52Speaker 1: War Texas. I had a god call. My dad put
- 50:55Speaker 1: a little motor Lawmore engine on the back of a
- 50:58Speaker 1: little a little, a little thing he created, and we
- 51:01Speaker 1: raced ing down the street and the dog used to
- 51:03Speaker 1: chase me. Yeah, well I roll past him. So so
- 51:06Speaker 1: I had a little go cart. Now come to let
- 51:09Speaker 1: you know that I had a little NASCAR experience at
- 51:13Speaker 1: night when my dad's left that law More on the
- 51:15Speaker 1: back of that gold cart. So I know that cart.
- 51:17Speaker 1: So that's kind of like how you started, right, Yeah,
- 51:20Speaker 1: that's right. So it's a little bit different. Um, these
- 51:23Speaker 1: are kind of built the go carts we had are
- 51:25Speaker 1: kind of built for for racing. An absolute rockcages around
- 51:28Speaker 1: him and everything. So um so we spent about h
- 51:32Speaker 1: we spent about two years in each series that we had.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Um that we had you know, been a part of.
- 51:38Speaker 1: And we would graduate to a bigger and faster car
- 51:42Speaker 1: and UH work our way up through the ranks, UH,
- 51:45Speaker 1: grabbing plenty of winds, going through both of the emotions,
- 51:47Speaker 1: the highs and lows, plenty of wins, plenty of res Uh.
- 51:50Speaker 1: You learned from the Rex to go back out and
- 51:52Speaker 1: win the next weekend. So we just stayed. Uh. We
- 51:54Speaker 1: stayed hungry for each and every race, each and every
- 51:57Speaker 1: weekend throughout the year, just to just to be better
- 52:00Speaker 1: and we should be better than than the previous race.
- 52:03Speaker 1: So UM, so I went about twenty starts thousand, nine
- 52:08Speaker 1: tells eight other nine rolled around. We had gotten into
- 52:12Speaker 1: a full size stock car, about four hundred horsepower late
- 52:14Speaker 1: Mitel stock car. UM and UH we had done really
- 52:18Speaker 1: great that year, and we had gotten a call from
- 52:20Speaker 1: coach Gibbs, which uh, I think a lot of people
- 52:23Speaker 1: do for UH football coach for the Redskins Super Bowl,
- 52:27Speaker 1: Super Bowl winning right, that's right. So we got a
- 52:32Speaker 1: call from from their department there to come out and
- 52:34Speaker 1: try to do a tryout for their race team, and
- 52:38Speaker 1: UM we were one of the top prospects out of
- 52:40Speaker 1: that and we ended up signing on with them for
- 52:42Speaker 1: a handful of years UH running in the can In
- 52:45Speaker 1: Series or under also under the Drive Diversity program. So
- 52:48Speaker 1: it was a little bit of a whirlwindows of stuff
- 52:51Speaker 1: we had going on, UM but UM, but it was
- 52:55Speaker 1: a great time that we had. There was was j
- 52:57Speaker 1: g R all the way up until twenty we had
- 53:00Speaker 1: switched over to UH jump teams to UH with Jack
- 53:04Speaker 1: Ralph and Ralph Finoy racing UM and UH had some
- 53:08Speaker 1: great years there and then now we're finally at the
- 53:11Speaker 1: top level and the Monster Engine NASCAR Cup Series, UM
- 53:16Speaker 1: racing for the King Richard Petty. So it's been a
- 53:19Speaker 1: it's been a long process, a hard thought process, but
- 53:22Speaker 1: it's all part of it and looking back on and
- 53:24Speaker 1: I wouldn't trade it for anything. Well, you can't. You
- 53:26Speaker 1: can't because of the fact that you're doing what you
- 53:28Speaker 1: what you love and UH just talk about the business
- 53:32Speaker 1: side of being a NASCAR driver because it's beyond your
- 53:35Speaker 1: talented person, but you also have to be a business person.
- 53:38Speaker 1: You also have to be a person that advertiser sponsors
- 53:42Speaker 1: deem a credible investment for their for their fame, for
- 53:46Speaker 1: their fan base. Is whether you know where your Chick
- 53:49Speaker 1: fil A or a target or your forward or you
- 53:51Speaker 1: or a gas company. How does that work as far
- 53:55Speaker 1: as the business side of NASCAR for you and your brand? Yeah,
- 53:59Speaker 1: So I'm representing brands each and every day now, UM
- 54:03Speaker 1: you know, whether I'm at the racetrack or not, I'm
- 54:05Speaker 1: still an ambassador for for all of our partners that
- 54:09Speaker 1: are part of our PM, that are part of our team.
- 54:12Speaker 1: UM So you know I slip up and that that
- 54:15Speaker 1: that costs heavily for all of us. So we definitely
- 54:17Speaker 1: have to you know, athletes are put on a pedestal,
- 54:20Speaker 1: which isn't the greatest thing in the world. We have
- 54:23Speaker 1: to have to take that initiative and take that next
- 54:25Speaker 1: step of being that role model and representing the best
- 54:28Speaker 1: way we can UM to UH to make sure we
- 54:32Speaker 1: come across and the most positive light. So UM so
- 54:35Speaker 1: being able to UH to represent the many brands that
- 54:38Speaker 1: we have, such a STP which is but a longtime
- 54:41Speaker 1: partner with Richard Petty and everybody at our PM. We
- 54:43Speaker 1: represent the Air Force. UM new partners have come on
- 54:46Speaker 1: board this year with and UM and and also we
- 54:52Speaker 1: just signed on a brand new sponsor for a handful
- 54:54Speaker 1: of races with our wide technology out of St. Louis So, uh,
- 54:57Speaker 1: there's many other associate sponsors that we are partner it with.
- 55:00Speaker 1: I mean, for me a personal service, I'm I'm an
- 55:03Speaker 1: ambassador for Coca Cola, so excited to have them Chevrolet.
- 55:06Speaker 1: So it's a lot of partners that make our program happen.
- 55:10Speaker 1: So your uniform is like like like like like tattered
- 55:13Speaker 1: up right now with that's what that's the goal, right,
- 55:16Speaker 1: that's the goal. They have the log right underneath the Yeah,
- 55:20Speaker 1: the log goal right underneath the neck. You know. Then
- 55:22Speaker 1: all this is the sleeve, the breast area. So man,
- 55:27Speaker 1: you're out there looking good. That's what you are, looking
- 55:29Speaker 1: good exactly. You got to you gotta represent now. Now
- 55:33Speaker 1: with that being said, you know what you you you're
- 55:35Speaker 1: selling your brain. You're marking your brand now. The pressure
- 55:39Speaker 1: of because of the fact that, let's let's be real,
- 55:42Speaker 1: you an in a sport that's that's uh, poorly attended
- 55:46Speaker 1: by African Americans. I know NASCAR is making a focused
- 55:48Speaker 1: effort to give a more minority participations as far as
- 55:52Speaker 1: attendees now, but you but you can't sell your brand
- 55:55Speaker 1: as an African American. You have to sell your brand
- 55:57Speaker 1: is a brand that that everybody wants to participate in.
- 56:01Speaker 1: So that's a responsibility to maintain a universal approach to
- 56:05Speaker 1: how you communicate the brand that you're that you're successfully
- 56:08Speaker 1: and correct, yes, correct and and uh for us to
- 56:13Speaker 1: you know, at the same time of representing all those
- 56:15Speaker 1: brands I am, I'm still selling myself, uh for potential
- 56:20Speaker 1: partners out there that are that are interested in the sport.
- 56:22Speaker 1: So you know, whether it's African American owned company or
- 56:26Speaker 1: a response to that that that's been around for years,
- 56:28Speaker 1: they're looking for a new outlet. I'm continuing, uh to
- 56:32Speaker 1: to you know, sell myself in the best way that
- 56:34Speaker 1: I can. I'm gonna tell you this, Darryl Bubba Wallace,
- 56:39Speaker 1: you are a true spokesperson for the sport. Use you
- 56:42Speaker 1: you articulate um. Thank you for coming on Money Making Conversation. Yea,
- 56:46Speaker 1: I would have waited till July to put you on
- 56:49Speaker 1: this show, man, because you have a story to tell
- 56:51Speaker 1: and and I want to come out and see you live.
- 56:54Speaker 1: I know I have contacted NASCAR if I'm able to
- 56:56Speaker 1: come there, I want to meet you because I want
- 56:58Speaker 1: to shake their head and put your You're on my
