- 0:00Speaker 1: To show you how ridiculous the opinion is.
- 0:02Speaker 2: However, the court said that I'm not allowed to charge
- 0:06Speaker 2: even one dollar. I can't judge one dollar, can't judge
- 0:09Speaker 2: a dollar, can't judge one dollar to any country under AIPAH.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Not one dollar. I assume to protect other countries.
- 0:17Speaker 2: This must have been done to protect those other countries,
- 0:19Speaker 2: certainly not the United States of America.
- 0:21Speaker 3: If you're listening to the forty seven Morning Update with
- 0:24Speaker 3: Ben ferguson.
- 0:25Speaker 4: Good Saturday morning, nice have you with us on the
- 0:27Speaker 4: forty seven Morning Update, and we've got one big story
- 0:30Speaker 4: for you. Donald Trump fighting back after a Supreme Court
- 0:33Speaker 4: ruling and posing a ten percent global tariff after the
- 0:37Speaker 4: Supreme Court struck down the emergency powers tariffs. So how
- 0:41Speaker 4: did this all happen?
- 0:42Speaker 1: We explain it for you.
- 0:43Speaker 4: It is an extended version and you're going to hear
- 0:46Speaker 4: from the present directly. It's a forty seven Morning Update
- 0:49Speaker 4: and it starts right now.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Story number one.
- 0:51Speaker 4: We start with a very big news. Donald Trump is
- 0:54Speaker 4: imposing a ten percent global tariff after the Supreme Court
- 1:00Speaker 4: shruck down the emergency powers tariffs that he had used.
- 1:04Speaker 4: President Trump announcing that he is imposing that ten percent
- 1:07Speaker 4: global tariff on top of tariff's already in place because
- 1:12Speaker 4: the Supreme Court struck down his duties imposed under the
- 1:16Speaker 4: International Emergency Economic Powers Act. Trump announcement came during a
- 1:21Speaker 4: press briefing at the White House that they scheduled on
- 1:24Speaker 4: short notice. This after the six' three ruling against those,
- 1:28Speaker 4: tariffs in Which Chief Justice John, Roberts Justice, Gorsich Amy
- 1:34Speaker 4: Cony barrett sided with liberal judges to rule Against President Donald.
- 1:39Speaker 4: TRUMP i want you to hear what The president had
- 1:42Speaker 4: to say is he was fighting.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Back TODAY i will sign in order to impose a
- 1:46Speaker 2: ten percent global tariff Under section one twenty two over
- 1:50Speaker 2: and above are normal tariffs already being, charged and we're
- 1:55Speaker 2: also initiating Several section three oh one and other instigations
- 2:01Speaker 2: to protect our country from unfair trading practices of other
- 2:06Speaker 2: countries and. COMPANIES a new. Record we set a record every. Time,
- 2:11Speaker 2: well thank you very much for being. Here The Supreme
- 2:15Speaker 2: court's ruling on tariffs is deeply, disappointing And i'm ashamed
- 2:22Speaker 2: of certain members of The, court absolutely ashamed for not
- 2:26Speaker 2: having the courage to do what's right for our. Country
- 2:30Speaker 2: i'd like to thank and Congratulate Justices, Thomas alito And
- 2:33Speaker 2: kavanaugh for their strength and wisdom and love of our,
- 2:38Speaker 2: country which is right now very proud of those. Justices
- 2:43Speaker 2: when you read the dissenting, opinions there's no way that anyone.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Can argue against. Them there's no.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Way foreign countries that have been ripping us off for
- 2:52Speaker 2: years are.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Ecstatic they're so happy and they're dancing in the. Streets
- 2:58Speaker 1: but they won't be dancing for. Long THAT i can assure.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You The democrats on The court are, thrilled but they
- 3:06Speaker 2: will automatically vote. No they're an automatic, now just like In.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Congress they're an automatic. No they're against anything that Makes america, strong,
- 3:14Speaker 2: healthy and great. Again they also are a frankly disgrace
- 3:20Speaker 2: to our, nation those.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Justices they're an automatic. No no matter how good a
- 3:24Speaker 1: case you, have it, Said, no you can't knock their.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Loyalty it's one thing you can do with some of our.
- 3:32Speaker 2: People others think they're being politically, correct which has happened
- 3:36Speaker 2: before far too often with certain.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Members of This, court and it's happened so often with This.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Court what a shame having to do with voting in,
- 3:46Speaker 2: particular when in fact they're just being fools and lapdogs
- 3:50Speaker 2: for The rhinos and the radical Left, democrats and not
- 3:54Speaker 2: that they should have anything at all to do with.
- 3:56Speaker 2: It they're very unpatriotic and disloyal to our. Institution it's
- 4:01Speaker 2: my opinion that The court has been swayed by foreign
- 4:05Speaker 2: interest and a political movement that is far smaller than
- 4:08Speaker 2: people would ever.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Think it's a small. MOVEMENT i won by millions of.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Votes we won in a landslide with all the cheating
- 4:15Speaker 2: that went, on there was a lot of. It but
- 4:17Speaker 2: we still want in a landslide too big to. Rick
- 4:19Speaker 2: but these people are, obnoxious ignorant and. Loud they're very,
- 4:22Speaker 2: loud AND i think certain justices are afraid of. That
- 4:27Speaker 2: they don't want to do the right. Thing they're afraid of.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It this was an important case to me more as
- 4:34Speaker 2: a symbol of economic national, security and ALSO i would
- 4:39Speaker 2: say just for a country, itself so important because we're
- 4:42Speaker 2: doing so well as a. Country we've never done so.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Well the good news is that there are, methods, practices,
- 4:50Speaker 2: statutes and authorities as recognized by the Entire court in
- 4:54Speaker 2: this terrible, decision and also is recognized By, congress which
- 5:00Speaker 2: refer to that are even stronger than THE aipa tariffs
- 5:04Speaker 2: available to me As president of The United, states and in,
- 5:08Speaker 2: ACTUALITY i was very modest in my ask of other
- 5:11Speaker 2: countries and businesses BECAUSE i wanted to do.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And it's very.
- 5:16Speaker 2: IMPORTANT i wanted to be very well behaved BECAUSE i
- 5:21Speaker 2: wanted to do. ANYTHING i didn't want to do anything
- 5:23Speaker 2: that would affect the decision of the, court BECAUSE i
- 5:26Speaker 2: understand the.
- 5:27Speaker 1: COURT i understand how they are very easily. SWAYED i
- 5:31Speaker 1: want to be a good.
- 5:32Speaker 2: BOY i have very effectively utilized tariffs over the past
- 5:37Speaker 2: year to Make america great. Again our stock market has
- 5:41Speaker 2: just recently broken fifty thousand on The dow and simultaneously
- 5:46Speaker 2: and even more amazingly broken seventy broken seven thousand on
- 5:52Speaker 2: THE s AND. P two numbers that everybody thought upon
- 5:54Speaker 2: our landslide election victory could not be. Attained that nobody
- 6:01Speaker 2: thought it was possible to do it within four, years
- 6:03Speaker 2: and we did it in one.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Year they said you'll never be. Able you go back and.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You read the, geniuses read their, statements all of The
- 6:12Speaker 2: Nobel prize winners in. Economics they, said, no you couldn't
- 6:15Speaker 2: do it in four. Years, well we didn't do it
- 6:18Speaker 2: in four.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Years we did it in one.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Year we broke every record in the book and were
- 6:22Speaker 2: continuing to do. So tariffs have likewise been used to
- 6:26Speaker 2: end five of the eight wars THAT i SETT i
- 6:29Speaker 2: settled eight, wars whether you like it or, not Including
- 6:32Speaker 2: India pakistan big.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Ones nuclear could have been.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Nuclear Prime Minister pakistan said yesterday at The Great meeting
- 6:40Speaker 2: that we had.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Peaceport he said.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yesterday That President trump could have saved thirty five million
- 6:47Speaker 2: lives by getting us to stop. Fighting they were getting
- 6:50Speaker 2: ready to do some bad. Things but they've given us
- 6:53Speaker 2: great national. Security these tariffs have and together WITH us strong,
- 6:57Speaker 2: borders reduced fentanyl coming into country by thirty. Percent WHEN
- 7:02Speaker 2: i use them as a penalty against countries illegally sending
- 7:05Speaker 2: this poison into our country to poison our.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Youth all of those seraphs. Remain they all. REMAIN i
- 7:12Speaker 1: don't know if you know that or. Not they all.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Remain we're still getting them and we will after the.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Decision this is nobody left to appeal. To but, again
- 7:21Speaker 2: those three people such. Respect i've had a lot of
- 7:24Speaker 2: respect for them, anyway but such great. Respect but other
- 7:27Speaker 2: alternatives will now be used to replace the ones that
- 7:29Speaker 2: the court incorrectly.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Rejected we have. Alternatives great alternatives could be more. Money
- 7:35Speaker 1: we'll take in more money and will be a lot
- 7:37Speaker 1: stronger for.
- 7:38Speaker 2: It we're taking in hundreds of billions of, dollars will
- 7:41Speaker 2: continue to do so to show you how ridiculous the opinion. Is,
- 7:44Speaker 2: however the court said That i'm not allowed to charge
- 7:48Speaker 2: even one.
- 7:48Speaker 1: DOLLAR i can't judge one, dollar can't charge a.
- 7:51Speaker 2: DOLLAR i would have used one, penny but we don't
- 7:53Speaker 2: make the pennies.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Anymore we save.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Money can't charge one dollar to any country UNDER, aipah
- 7:59Speaker 2: not one.
- 8:00Speaker 1: DOLLAR i assume to protect other.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Countries this must have been done to protect those other,
- 8:04Speaker 2: countries certainly not The United states Of, america which they
- 8:07Speaker 2: should be interested in, protecting and that's what they're supposed
- 8:10Speaker 2: to be. Protecting BUT i am allowed to cut off
- 8:13Speaker 2: any and all trade or business with that same. Country
- 8:16Speaker 2: in other, WORDS i can destroy the, TRADE i can
- 8:18Speaker 2: destroy the. Country i'm even allowed to impose a foreign
- 8:23Speaker 2: country destroying.
- 8:24Speaker 1: EMBARGO i can.
- 8:25Speaker 2: EMBARGO i can do ANYTHING i, Want BUT i can't
- 8:28Speaker 2: charge one, dollar because that's not what it, says and
- 8:31Speaker 2: that's not the way it even, READS i can do
- 8:34Speaker 2: ANYTHING i want to do to, them BUT i can't
- 8:37Speaker 2: charge any. Money So i'm allowed to destroy the, country
- 8:40Speaker 2: BUT i can't charge them a little. FEE i could
- 8:41Speaker 2: give them a two cent, fee BUT i cannot charge
- 8:46Speaker 2: under any. CIRCUMSTANCES i cannot charge them. Anything think of.
- 8:50Speaker 2: That how ridiculous is That i'm allowed to embargo. Them
- 8:53Speaker 2: i'm allowed to tell them you can't do business in
- 8:55Speaker 2: The United states. Anymore we want you out of. Here
- 8:58Speaker 2: but IF i want to charge them ten, DOLLARS i
- 9:00Speaker 2: can't do. That it's, incorrect their decisions. Incorrect but it
- 9:03Speaker 2: doesn't matter because we have very powerful alternatives that have.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Been approved by this.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Decision you, know they've been approved by the decision for
- 9:11Speaker 2: those that thought they had. Us and they're saying THAT
- 9:15Speaker 2: i have the absolute right to, license but not the
- 9:18Speaker 2: right to charge a license.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Fee so think of. THAT i have the right to.
- 9:22Speaker 1: License it's a very powerful. Word in many. Ways license
- 9:25Speaker 1: is more powerful than. Tariffs in, FACT i was thinking
- 9:27Speaker 1: about using, it but.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They came up with the idea THAT i can license
- 9:32Speaker 2: just like the people that were opposing me told them to,
- 9:35Speaker 2: do but not the right to charge a license.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Fee think of? That whoever heard of such a?
- 9:40Speaker 2: Thing what license has ever been issued without the right
- 9:44Speaker 2: to charge a?
- 9:44Speaker 1: Fee you get a license to charge of, fee it's,
- 9:46Speaker 1: Automatic but not with this.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Court but now the court has given me the unquestioned
- 9:51Speaker 2: right to ban all sorts of things from coming into
- 9:54Speaker 2: our country to destroy foreign, countries but a much more
- 9:58Speaker 2: powerful right than many people ever thought we even, had
- 10:02Speaker 2: but not.
- 10:03Speaker 1: The right to charge. Fee how crazy is?
- 10:05Speaker 2: That our country is the hottest country anywhere in the
- 10:09Speaker 2: world right, now and it was a dead country one
- 10:11Speaker 2: and a half years ago under an incompetent. President but
- 10:14Speaker 2: Now i'm going to go in a different, direction probably
- 10:17Speaker 2: the direction THAT i should have gone the first.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Time BUT i read the.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Language i'm very good at reading, language and it read
- 10:24Speaker 2: our way one hundred. Percent but Now i'll go the
- 10:27Speaker 2: WAY i could have gone, originally which is even stronger
- 10:30Speaker 2: than our original. Choice As Justice, kavanaugh whose stock has
- 10:34Speaker 2: gone so you have to, See i'm so proud of, him.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Wrote in his.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Descent ALTHOUGH i firmly disagree with the courts holding, today
- 10:44Speaker 2: the decision might not substantially constrain a president's ability.
- 10:49Speaker 1: To auder tariffs going.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Forward SO i think of, that the decision might not substantially,
- 10:56Speaker 2: constrain and it.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Doesn't he's. Right in, FACT i can charge much more
- 11:00Speaker 1: THAN i was. Charging So i'm going to just.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Start ALTHOUGH i firmly disagree with the course holding, today
- 11:05Speaker 2: the decision might not substantially constrain a president's ability to
- 11:10Speaker 2: order tariffs going.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Forward that's because numerous other federal.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Statutes which is so, true authorized the president to impose
- 11:19Speaker 2: tariffs and might justify, most if not, all of the
- 11:23Speaker 2: tariffs issued in this, case even more.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Tariffs actually those statues. Include think of.
- 11:30Speaker 2: That those statutes, include for, example The Trade Expansion act
- 11:35Speaker 2: of nineteen sixty, two section two thirty.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Two all of these THINGS i know so.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Well The Trade act of nineteen seventy four sections one
- 11:44Speaker 2: twenty two two or one to three oh, one and
- 11:47Speaker 2: The Tariff act of nineteen thirty.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Section three thirty eight or, clear but it's a little
- 11:52Speaker 1: bit longer. PROCESS i thought that make things, simple but
- 11:56Speaker 1: they didn't let us do.
- 11:57Speaker 2: THAT i would like to thank just this capital is
- 12:00Speaker 2: frankly his genius and his great, ability very proud of
- 12:04Speaker 2: that appointment in. Actuality why WHILE i am sure that
- 12:09Speaker 2: they did not mean to do so The Supreme court's
- 12:12Speaker 2: decision today made a president's ability to both regulate trade
- 12:16Speaker 2: and impose tariffs more powerful and more crystal, clear rather than.
- 12:23Speaker 1: LESS i don't think they meant. That i'm sure they.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Didn't it's terrible and to think that The democrats who
- 12:29Speaker 2: opposed this only because they want to go the opposite.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Way they'd like to pack the. Court they want to
- 12:34Speaker 2: put on twenty one. People they want to pack the,
- 12:36Speaker 2: court pack The Supreme. Court maybe they should do. It
- 12:39Speaker 2: maybe they would be better off if they did.
- 12:41Speaker 1: It they want to pack the.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Court they want to do anything to hurt our. Country
- 12:46Speaker 2: there will no longer be any doubt and the income
- 12:48Speaker 2: coming in and the protection of our companies and country
- 12:52Speaker 2: will actually increase because of this.
- 12:54Speaker 1: DECISION i don't think the court meant, that but that's the.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Way it is based on a longstanding law and hundreds of,
- 13:01Speaker 2: victories and even AS i was pointed out, before even
- 13:04Speaker 2: thousands of victories over the years to the, contrary The
- 13:08Speaker 2: Supreme court did not overrule. Tariffs they merely overruled a
- 13:12Speaker 2: particularly use OF aepa tariffs and essentially it's to use
- 13:16Speaker 2: to get a.
- 13:17Speaker 1: FEE i can do, ANYTHING i.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Want WITH, aepa, ANYTHING i just can't charge anybody for.
- 13:22Speaker 1: IT i can, LICENSE i just can't charge.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Them it's, ridiculous but it's okay because we have other,
- 13:27Speaker 2: ways numerous other. Ways the ability to, block, embargo, restrict,
- 13:34Speaker 2: license or impose any other condition on a foreign country's
- 13:39Speaker 2: ability to conduct trade with The United states UNDER aepa has.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Been fully confirmed by this.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Decision so now there's no doubt because you, know there
- 13:48Speaker 2: were a lot of questions about, tariffs because no president
- 13:51Speaker 2: was smart enough to use them to protect our country
- 13:53Speaker 2: from those countries and businesses that were ripping us.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Off you took a look at the deficits that we
- 13:58Speaker 1: had with some of these.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Countries was disgraceful what they got away with for, many many.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Decades but now we, know because this decision affirms all
- 14:06Speaker 2: those things that some people weren't sure about in order
- 14:10Speaker 2: to protect and it says, so in order to protect our,
- 14:13Speaker 2: country a president can actually charge more tariffs THAN i
- 14:17Speaker 2: was charging in the past period of a year under
- 14:21Speaker 2: the various tariffs. Authorities so we can use other of the,
- 14:25Speaker 2: statutes other of the tariff, authorities which have also been
- 14:30Speaker 2: confirmed and are fully allowed therefore effective immediately all national
- 14:36Speaker 2: security tariffs Under section two thirty. Two in Existing section
- 14:41Speaker 2: three h one, tariffs they're, existing they're, there remain in,
- 14:45Speaker 2: place fully in, place and in full force and. Effect
- 14:49Speaker 2: TODAY i will sign in order to impose a ten
- 14:51Speaker 2: percent global tariff Under section one twenty. Two over and
- 14:55Speaker 2: above are normal tariffs already being. Charged and we're also
- 15:00Speaker 2: k so initiating Several section three oh one and other
- 15:03Speaker 2: investigations to protect our country from unfair trading practices of
- 15:09Speaker 2: other countries and. Companies thank you for your attention to this.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Matter AND i, say quite, simply Which i've said for
- 15:18Speaker 2: a long, time Make america great. Again and, interestingly we've
- 15:21Speaker 2: already made it, great SO i don't have to use.
- 15:24Speaker 1: That BUT i don't think we'll ever give up on.
- 15:26Speaker 1: MAG mag is always going to be with. Us if
- 15:29Speaker 1: you have a few, questions you can let us.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Go you can hear The president making it clear he's,
- 15:35Speaker 4: frustrated but he also says he's not backing. Down he's
- 15:39Speaker 4: going to have these new tariffs that he's going to put,
- 15:41Speaker 4: on imposing those ten percent tariffs right. Away the ten
- 15:46Speaker 4: percent global tariff is imposed On friday and is not
- 15:50Speaker 4: under The, ieppa but Under section one twenty two of
- 15:54Speaker 4: The Trade act of nineteen seventy, four, which by the,
- 15:58Speaker 4: Way Brett kavanaugh emphasized another vehicle for imposing tariffs in
- 16:01Speaker 4: his dissenting. Opinion that's why the present said effective immediately
- 16:06Speaker 4: all national security Tariffs intersection two thirty two and Existing
- 16:10Speaker 4: section three oh one tariffs remain in, place fully in,
- 16:13Speaker 4: place and in full force and. Effect so that is
- 16:17Speaker 4: the latest The President United hits Of america talking about
- 16:20Speaker 4: the tariffs moving, forward and the world knows exactly where
- 16:22Speaker 4: they stand with them and what tariffs are having to
- 16:25Speaker 4: deal with right.
