- 0:00This shit ain't nothing to me, man. This is boxing
- 0:03before dark. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Back. Back.
- 0:06Back. Back. Back. Before. Before. Before. Before.
- 0:11Boxing. Boxing. Boxing. Boxing before dark. This
- 0:15is boxing before dark. Yeah. Anyways. Anyways.
- 0:26Fucking. That's my. Patreon intro cut if you
- 0:30want to know what video game I'm playing. Yeah,
- 0:33Boxing Before Dark. We are back, bitch. Up in
- 0:36your ears. Ooh, Shanada, how goes it over in
- 0:40Japan? I am not deathly ill anymore, so that's
- 0:45good. Starting to feel better. Good. I actually
- 0:49missed days of work this week. It was bad. Oh,
- 0:52is it? How bad is it in, uh... Well, you're a
- 0:57foreigner though, right? So they shouldn't hold
- 0:59you to this. They wouldn't hold you to the same
- 1:01like standard of I'm too sick to work. Uh, no,
- 1:07they, they don't. But like my boss definitely
- 1:11spouts the lines he's given about that stuff.
- 1:15Cause I sent an email and I'm like, I'm actually
- 1:17sick. I don't want to get anyone in the lab sick,
- 1:20but I had a live mouse delivery. I was like,
- 1:23so I'm going to come in and I'm going to put
- 1:25my mice away and I'm going to go right back home.
- 1:28And my boss was like, yes, that is acceptable.
- 1:32If you are sick, you should stay home. We don't
- 1:34want everyone to get sick. And I'm like, excellent.
- 1:39Very rehearsed. Yeah, I like pretty much copy
- 1:43and pasted from his training manual. And I just
- 1:48didn't go in the next day and he hasn't said
- 1:50anything. I'm sure I'll see him today and tomorrow.
- 1:55He's always there on the weekends. Well, let's
- 2:02get into a little bit of news here. Manny Pacquiao's
- 2:05son. I'm struggling with this one. I don't know
- 2:10if it's Jim Well or Him Well. Just based on like
- 2:15James. It's probably Jim. I think it's Jim Well.
- 2:18Yeah, you're right. Yeah, he's Filipino. Jim
- 2:23plus Manuel? Yeah. Like for his dad? Yeah, also
- 2:28Manny calls him Jim. Okay, so yeah, it's Jimwell.
- 2:34Oh, that's nice. He's making his pro debut on
- 2:37November 29th. It's their two names put together,
- 2:40right? Yes. If you didn't pick it up, Jinky and
- 2:43Manny. Isn't her name Jinky? Yeah, her name is
- 2:48Jinky. Yeah. I just thought it was Manny's name
- 2:52with Jim at the beginning instead. No, it's Jinky
- 2:56and Manuel. Then where's the N? Jimwell? They
- 3:02just changed the... To an M instead? The M, yeah.
- 3:05Oh, lame. Jimwell is a girl's name. Is it? Yeah.
- 3:12All right. Going with it. Still, he's making
- 3:16his pro debut, so that's fun. Is he fighting
- 3:23anyone? No, just another guy making his debut.
- 3:28Okay, so not some journeyman that's there to
- 3:32lose. Like, he's actually fighting somebody that's
- 3:36possibly competitive. Yeah. Someone who's also
- 3:39trying to win. Kind of what I meant. You want
- 3:42to beat... How could you not want to have a Pacquiao
- 3:46on your record when you're making your pro debut
- 3:50and you... Get a Pacquiao scalp? That's a get.
- 3:56Yeah. Speaking of gets. Oh, it's in the U .S.
- 4:01as well. Yeah, I think it's in Stockton, California.
- 4:08Interesting. Yeah, I think this is Manny Pacquiao
- 4:12Promotions, their first card that they're promoting
- 4:18solo. In the U .S. Nice. We've done a lot of
- 4:24Philippines and others. Oh, and Jim trains at
- 4:29Wild Card. Yes, he does. Nice. I kind of want
- 4:34him to be good. He's probably just another Nepo
- 4:37baby, but I kind of want him to be good. Imagine
- 4:40a second Pacquiao. It would be fun. It would
- 4:44be fun together. It would be awesome. Yeah, he
- 4:46would add himself to the list of... boxing sons
- 4:50that are like connor ben say what you will about
- 4:54he's okay he's okay he's doing he's doing his
- 4:57best um but he's also he's still really popular
- 5:01despite not being all that great yeah him and
- 5:06eubank both i think right yeah that's what i
- 5:09was gonna say next was eubank is in the same
- 5:11mold uh emiliano jcc shit Emmanuel Vargas is
- 5:18actually pretty good. Right. Emiliano is good.
- 5:21His other brothers, not so much. He's clearly
- 5:25the best of the fighting Vargas boys. Yeah. I
- 5:32could back another Pacquiao. I'd be up for it.
- 5:37The Philippines needs somebody to cheer for as
- 5:40well. What do you mean? Jerusalem is not the...
- 5:44I mean, I cheer for him and Tataran and Topalas.
- 5:50The fucking Filipinos need to get off Casimiro's
- 5:55dick. Yeah, Topalas, not Casimiro, Maxayo. Mark
- 6:04Maxayo. Yeah, but is he actually Philippines
- 6:08Filipino? Yeah. Oh, I thought he was American
- 6:13Filipino. No, not as far as I know. I like Meg
- 6:15Zayo. Yeah. I like Meg Zayo. I just thought he
- 6:19was, like, maybe not born in the U .S., but lived
- 6:23there all his life. I don't think he's lived
- 6:27there his whole life. I'm pretty sure he's a
- 6:28Filipino. Okay. Full on. Ask any Filipino and
- 6:35he'd be Brandon Figueroa. He did. He might have.
- 6:41Yeah. Yeah. Moving on to Tim Zhu. He gets a new
- 6:51trainer, Pedro Diaz, from the Mundo Boxing Club.
- 6:55Pedro Diaz is a Cuban -style coach. So this is
- 7:00a bit... I'm not sure what this is telegraphing.
- 7:09I feel like this is Tim Zhu trying to sharpen
- 7:11up his defense, like learn that Cuban -style
- 7:16mobility of defense, like hit and get out of
- 7:19the way as quickly as possible. Tim is not good
- 7:25at that. No, he's not. So I'm always kind of
- 7:31split on these types of moves because it's something
- 7:35that he should add if he can. But I always feel
- 7:39like by the time you're, like, Tim's age, you
- 7:43need to lean into your strengths more than you
- 7:46need to improve your deficits. Kind of. Like,
- 7:50I think so late in your career, it's really hard
- 7:54and ill -advised for most boxers to try and completely
- 7:57change their style. Yeah, Oscar De La Hoya did
- 8:01that multiple times, and it didn't always go
- 8:04to his benefit. Well, and like some people can
- 8:07pull it off. I'm not saying... It's not impossible.
- 8:11It's not impossible and it's not a bad move every
- 8:14time. So I hope this works out. But I just...
- 8:18If they really try and switch Tim entirely to
- 8:22a Cuban style, I think it's going to be a disaster.
- 8:25If they lean into his strengths and add some
- 8:29defense that Tim can actually handle. it'll be
- 8:34beneficial. Thinking on it, I'm thinking that
- 8:40Virgil Hunter might have been a better fit. Because
- 8:43Virgil Hunter, he was Andre Ward's coach for
- 8:47his career. And pretty much anybody who went
- 8:50to Virgil Hunter, you went there to tighten up
- 8:53your defense. And it unfortunately is a little
- 8:56bit of the jab and grab type of crap that, you
- 8:59know, doesn't wow people, but it wins fights.
- 9:03And that would be a little bit more of what Tim
- 9:06Zoo could do because he's more of an offensive
- 9:08personality than he is defensive type. So more
- 9:14mobility, lateral movement. Timmy, that's not
- 9:18you, man. Like you need to. work on your entries
- 9:22and then work in the clinch and then work on
- 9:26your exits like i guess it all depends on how
- 9:30they try to integrate it yeah tim tim can't just
- 9:34switch i just i don't think that's feasible and
- 9:39i don't know much about this coach i don't i
- 9:42honestly didn't recognize his name um so maybe
- 9:46he's really good at kind of tweaking and adding
- 9:49instead of trying to switch people. But because
- 9:53who was it? Like Roy Jones Jr. is a terrible
- 9:57fucking coach. Yeah, he is. Because he tries
- 10:01to get people to fight like him and nobody can
- 10:03fight like him. I'm not saying this guy is like
- 10:06that, but I just mean if he tries to switch him
- 10:10to his Cuban style, it's not going to work. Cuban
- 10:14style is also a little different these days.
- 10:17it's not quite i still even even modern cuban
- 10:20style i don't think fits tim man imagine going
- 10:25to eddie reynoso when they try to train you to
- 10:27fight like canelo because that's all eddie reynoso
- 10:31knows how to do yeah no that also wouldn't suit
- 10:36tim no he does not have the chin for that unfortunate
- 10:42that I think is the trick to Canelo style is
- 10:46just having a fucking massive Irish head with
- 10:49like a chin made of granite. Yeah, well, you
- 10:55have to because you're going to be rolling a
- 10:57lot of shots, not just blocking or parrying or
- 11:03avoiding. What's the UFC corner quote? He's a
- 11:08big old Mexican with a big old head. You're not
- 11:10going to knock him out. Is that a quote? It's
- 11:15a quote. I'll try and find it. I'll send it to
- 11:19you later. But yeah, it's Coach in the Corner.
- 11:22It's like, stop trying to knock this fucker out.
- 11:24He's a big old Mexican with a big old head. You're
- 11:27not going to knock him out. That sounds like
- 11:30it would be if they were somebody fighting Cain
- 11:33Velasquez. I don't know. That's just what it
- 11:37sounds like in my head. The corner scene sticks
- 11:40with me. But I'm pretty sure it was UFC. Oh.
- 11:52Corners in the ears of the fighter. Usyk declares
- 11:57that he's retiring at age 41. He's currently
- 12:0038. So. That's longer than I thought he was staying
- 12:08around, to be honest. Kind of longer than I want
- 12:11him to stay around. I don't... So... I just want
- 12:18him to retire undisputed, undefeated, undeniably
- 12:23the best. But nobody does that. It's hard to
- 12:27leave when you're winning. And he's adamant that
- 12:31he's not going to be fighting Tyson Fury again.
- 12:34His entire camp... Which is good. Yeah, his entire
- 12:37camp is like, no, that chapter is closed. And
- 12:41I mean, it is. He beat you close the first time,
- 12:46and then he beat you more clearly the second
- 12:48time. I'm not sure what more you want. Yeah,
- 12:53like, nobody needs another one of those. It's
- 12:57a waste of Usyk's last few fights. That being
- 13:02said, we've talked about it before. There's not
- 13:04really anyone left for him to fight. He's just
- 13:06beat everybody. Yeah. Only ones really left are,
- 13:12spoiler, we're recording this before the Joseph
- 13:17Parker, Fabio Wardley fight. You're listening
- 13:19to it after the fact. So, you know, make peace
- 13:23with it. We don't know who won yet. Parker. Yeah,
- 13:29I'm going with Parker. But that's really it,
- 13:35is Parker. Yeah. I mean, I don't think Parker
- 13:42has a hope in hell either, but... No, like, he
- 13:46does what Usyk does, but he's like dying Usyk.
- 13:49Not as good? Yeah, he's just not as good. Speaking
- 13:55of Fury, he's adamant that he's retired. Let
- 13:59me see if I can pull up his exact words, because
- 14:02they were really clear. Like, he's like, fuck
- 14:06this. Yeah, I know he's done this before, but
- 14:11he's also getting to the age where I kind of
- 14:14believe it might stick this time. Although I
- 14:16do think he'll probably come out of retirement
- 14:19for enough money, because of course he will.
- 14:22That was something that he said. I'm paraphrasing
- 14:27here. This isn't the exact quote, but he said,
- 14:31I'm 37 years old. I've been boxing my whole life.
- 14:37I've been getting punched in the face for 25
- 14:39of those 37 years. I have zero interest in continuing
- 14:43to do this. I already have more than enough money
- 14:46I could ever spend. So what's the point? You
- 14:51could offer me a 10 -figure contract and I wouldn't
- 14:56want to come back. Yeah, he said that before,
- 14:59though. I think at this age, though... It might
- 15:05stick this time. That's what I think. It will
- 15:08stick now. Let's see. I found the exact... Is
- 15:14this the exact quote? Oh, it's pieces of the
- 15:17code. It used to be for the money, the titles,
- 15:21but now I've got more money than I can spend.
- 15:23I've got unlimited amounts of belts and titles,
- 15:26and does it make me any happier? No. Was the
- 15:29chase better than the victory? Yes. The climb
- 15:31was better than the mountain peak? to be fair
- 15:34as is always the case i can go back to boxing
- 15:37at any given time but i just don't want to i've
- 15:40got no interest in that clamor or the limelight
- 15:43or to go get punched again i'm not interested
- 15:45it doesn't do anything for me you could offer
- 15:48me 1 billion pounds today and it wouldn't move
- 15:51the needle because i've gone past that point
- 15:53of caring about what other people think Boxing
- 15:56doesn't take any prisoners. It only takes casualties.
- 15:59So for me to be sat here, all my faculties in
- 16:02order, won every belt, made loads of money, and
- 16:05not got a scratch on me, I've done really well.
- 16:08But I don't want to tempt fate. I don't want
- 16:11to keep going back and back to the well because
- 16:13how many times can you keep doing it without
- 16:15getting brain damage or whatever else? Not being
- 16:18able to walk in a straight line, it'd all be
- 16:20pointless then. That is pretty cut and dried.
- 16:27It's pretty clear. The only one who's adamant
- 16:31that... I've been using that word a lot today.
- 16:36The only one who's really... It's a good word.
- 16:41Yeah, he's really adamant that he should fight
- 16:44is AJ, claiming that Tyson Fury has to fight
- 16:48AJ for the British heavyweight crown, pretty
- 16:52much. I mean, everybody wants to see it. And
- 16:58Fury's been pretty clear that he's retired like
- 17:02three times in the past. Yes. I think he's even
- 17:07said the you couldn't pay me enough to come back
- 17:10thing before. And like 100 mil did get him back.
- 17:15Yeah. So, I don't know. I just don't believe
- 17:20a fucking word Fury says ever. And the fight
- 17:24with AJ, you could reasonably think it would
- 17:28be a billion dollar fight. I mean, a billion's
- 17:33a lot, Leo. No, no, I know. Just in general,
- 17:37that's too much. That is a lot of money. That
- 17:40would be a massive circus. It would be a massive
- 17:44circus and it would be a lot of money, but a
- 17:46thousand million is too much. That is a lot.
- 17:50Yeah, you're right. But, I don't know. I am not
- 17:55writing off the Fury vs. AJ fight yet, just because
- 17:59it's Fury. If AJ said he was retired and done,
- 18:03I would believe him. Yeah, I would be more apt
- 18:08to believe AJ than I do Fury. But also, if Fury
- 18:16stays retired, I'm not going to be too mad at
- 18:19him anyways. He has a point. Yeah. Between the
- 18:25two Usyk fights, the three Wilder fights, like,
- 18:29what more do you want out of the man? That's
- 18:33a lot of getting punched in the face. Yeah, and
- 18:35especially with a guy like Wilder, you're not
- 18:40taking little to no damage from somebody. It's
- 18:43not like you're fighting a pillow -fisted someone.
- 18:46Yeah. Like, he got knocked out that first fight.
- 18:51You did. Jack Reese, you son of a bitch. You
- 18:55suck. God. Heated. Heated. Yeah. Every time.
- 19:03Every time I think about it. It's like the reverse
- 19:06tank knee. Yeah. Yeah. God. Moving along. Ray
- 19:21Moritaya versus Andy Cruz is going to be happening
- 19:24for the IBF 140 -pound title. I like Ray Moritaya
- 19:29a lot. I'm going to be pulling for him. I'm cheering
- 19:32for him. But Andy Cruz is... Is a problem. He
- 19:38is a problem. Yeah, you're right. Yeah, that
- 19:45could be a rough one. Murataya has Robert Garcia
- 19:51in his corner, which that counts for a lot. But
- 19:56Andy Cruz is like, no other way to put it but
- 20:00a fucking problem. And man, that's rough. Yeah,
- 20:08I just... I don't remember a whole bunch of what
- 20:14Ray Murataya's style is like. To be honest. Is
- 20:18he, like, kind of just Mexican? He's not, right?
- 20:22Yeah, okay. But he does fight the Mexican. Like,
- 20:26think Mikey Garcia. Like, really textbook. Okay,
- 20:31okay. But not, like, not walk in a straight line.
- 20:35No, not like that. Hands up. No, yeah. That could
- 20:38be kind of a fun fight, actually. He's a good
- 20:40boxer puncher. So is Andy Cruz. Well, I was going
- 20:45to say, Moritaya may be more of a puncher -boxer,
- 20:48and then Andy Cruz the boxer -puncher. Yeah.
- 20:54That one might actually be fun. Andy Cruz engages
- 20:58enough that it's usually really fun. He can be
- 21:03wobbled. He has been wobbled. I've definitely
- 21:13seen the IBF declare worse fights. Oh my god.
- 21:18Definitely. This is actually really good. Yeah,
- 21:22I'm kind of surprised the IBF has told them to
- 21:25do this one and they didn't just do it on their
- 21:27own. Speaking of doing it on their own, Agit
- 21:35Kabayel is coming back on the 10th of January.
- 21:40I didn't see who it's going to be against, but
- 21:43he also holds an interim heavyweight title. So
- 21:48he is in the running for a potential Usyk payday.
- 21:55Fair enough, I guess. Yeah, he's earned it. I
- 22:00wouldn't put him at the head of the line, but
- 22:03he definitely has earned his spot in the line.
- 22:07I mean, provided Parker has one, Parker's the
- 22:12only one that should be at the head of the line.
- 22:14He's waited for like half a decade at the front
- 22:19of the line. Also assuming that Parker beat Wardley,
- 22:23he took a very dangerous fight that he didn't
- 22:28have to take. Yeah. And assuming Wardley beat
- 22:33Parker, that doesn't put you at the front of
- 22:35the line. I don't think so. You beat one person.
- 22:40Probably by fluke knockout. Right, after getting
- 22:44soundly outboxed for however many rounds before
- 22:49you got your fucking lucky spark. But I guess
- 22:55you gotta be lucky to be good. Yeah, making it
- 23:00to this point is a bit of luck. Still, Agit Caballel.
- 23:10Barring... The only person I would put ahead
- 23:15of him would probably be Parker. And... We don't
- 23:20know that outcome yet. Yeah. So... Honestly,
- 23:26I think even if Parker does get sparked, he should
- 23:28still be at the head of the line. But that's
- 23:30just me. Everyone's gonna say that... He got
- 23:37beat by a mid guy. I know. He outboxed somebody.
- 23:42Fabio Wardley gets outboxed. It's just like a
- 23:46fact of life. But then it becomes like, oh, can
- 23:52Usyk do... Can he outbox for 12? It's like Wilder
- 23:57used to say, you have to be perfect for 12 rounds.
- 24:01I have to be perfect for one second. Yeah. Oh,
- 24:05God. Is Fabio Wardley the next fucking Deontay
- 24:09Wilder? They've been calling him that for a long
- 24:12time. Really? We had a whole discussion about
- 24:14this a couple months ago, Leo. I forgot about
- 24:18that. They both started late. They don't have
- 24:21much of an amateur thing. Yeah, they've been
- 24:24making that comparison all year. Or since he
- 24:28caved in Clark's head. Frazier Clark, yeah. Yeah.
- 24:37Let's dial down the weight classes. Seiya Tsutsumi,
- 24:41a .k .a. Punch Burger, versus Nonito Donair in
- 24:46Tokyo in December. I don't think it's official
- 24:51yet, but there's rumors that they'll be on a
- 24:55December 17th card that has multiple world titles
- 24:59on it. And this will be one of them, of course,
- 25:02because Tsutsumi... Champion in recess, wasn't
- 25:07he? Yeah, I was going to say. I need to correct
- 25:09myself. He's in recess, isn't he? After the eye
- 25:14surgery. Right. And he's supposed to fight whoever
- 25:17won the interim in his stead. Who does have the
- 25:24interim? That's a good question. Let's have a
- 25:28look. WBA rankings. Bantamweight. Antonio Vargas.
- 25:34is the regular champion. Nonito is the interim
- 25:39champion. So they're making Tsutsumi fight the
- 25:43interim before he can go back for his belt. Yeah.
- 25:47Seems so. That's fucking bullshit. My guy gets
- 25:51screwed over because nobody likes him. Nobody
- 25:56likes the fashion mag. Fucking handsome boy.
- 26:06I don't know. I don't understand. He's exciting
- 26:09and his personality seems pretty good. I don't
- 26:14understand why they don't push him a little more.
- 26:17I don't get it. Throwing my hands up because
- 26:20I'm not sure either. But that's kind of bullshit
- 26:25that they're making him beat Donair first. Oh,
- 26:29having Donair on his resume will be good. Look
- 26:33at who the number one contender is. No. I don't
- 26:38want to. Look at where he is on everyone's list,
- 26:42Leo. At the top. Yeah. Where he fucking belongs.
- 26:54Takuma's gonna beat him. I really don't think
- 26:58that Nasukawa can beat Takuma. It's a tough one.
- 27:05He doesn't hit hard enough. Nazakawa doesn't
- 27:08hit hard. No, he's not. Like, big punching isn't
- 27:12really his thing. So, you're right. Like, the
- 27:17only one that's beaten Takuma hits a lot harder.
- 27:23And a lot more. Yeah. Nazakawa doesn't have much
- 27:29for output either. And I really don't think he's
- 27:32going to be able to outbox Takuma. Not really.
- 27:40He's going to try, but... His speed is something,
- 27:44I think. Yeah. Yeah, but, like... Takuma's going
- 27:51to time him. Natsukawa gets hit. He does. Bringing
- 27:57it back around, though, to Tsutsumi versus Donair.
- 28:00Before we started recording, we were talking
- 28:02about it. And I was saying, I don't see Donair
- 28:06as that big of a challenge. I think he's near
- 28:1340, if not already past it. I think he's past
- 28:1840. Let me check. He still has his left hook.
- 28:25It's still, like, his money punch. Yeah, he's
- 28:2942. I was pretty sure he was older than me. I
- 28:33don't rate his chances all that well. I think
- 28:37he's got a puncher's chance. Sure. Yeah, everyone
- 28:41has a puncher's chance. No, but I mean, like,
- 28:43Donair's a puncher. He has an actual puncher's
- 28:47chance. Yeah. Like, Tsutsumi gets hit. It's not
- 28:53like he's hard to hit. Power's the last thing
- 28:56that goes. That being said, I think Seiya's just
- 29:02going to swarm and overpower Donair. I'm kind
- 29:06of picturing a mid -round TKO for Tsutsumi. But
- 29:13if Donair cracks him with something like he got
- 29:16in a way, I don't think Tsutsumi can box his
- 29:21way out of it. How long ago was the first...
- 29:24It was a long time ago. I think it was. I think
- 29:30it was COVID. Where's Donairs? Box rec. I think
- 29:45it might have been 2020. I'm going to make myself
- 29:50look stupid. I'm not going to guess. The first
- 29:53interway fight was 2019, November. Okay, so it
- 29:57was pre -COVID, you're right. Donair's been busy,
- 30:00though. He has. He's back at 118. That is fucking
- 30:05wild. He got up to, I think, 126. Yeah, he was
- 30:12too small for 126, so... The only thing that
- 30:18was... making him at all competitive up there
- 30:21was his power. That proved to not be enough multiple
- 30:27times. No. Yeah. I like Donair. He's definitely
- 30:32way past it. I just think he's got a puncher's
- 30:36chance. And Seiya gets hit. Like, he's gonna
- 30:41land something. Whether he lands that one crazy
- 30:44shot or not, who knows. I have faith in Tsutsumi.
- 30:49Oh. I do, too. I'm just saying that, like, I
- 30:53don't think it's a give -me fight. I think they
- 30:57should have let Tsutsumi fight for his fucking
- 30:59belt instead of this. Yeah, fight the actual
- 31:03champ instead. Yeah. Bullshit. I don't know.
- 31:09Maybe this was more money. Donair probably sells
- 31:13better in Tokyo. Probably. Or you could do it
- 31:16in Philippines. The card they're supposed to
- 31:23be on is in Tokyo. And I will be getting a ticket
- 31:27because I have never seen Donair fight. That
- 31:30would be cool. Yeah. I might hang out in Tokyo
- 31:35a little bit while he's here and see if I can
- 31:38snag an autograph somehow. I would recognize
- 31:42Nonito on the street. I'm sure I would. Yeah.
- 31:47Cause I'm not going to lie. So some of the Japanese
- 31:50guys, I'm not a hundred percent confident. I
- 31:54would know. Well, when they're just in like regular
- 31:58clothes, they just look like they blended. Yeah.
- 32:02They just look like normal little guys. I don't
- 32:06know. I mean, not Tsutsumi. I'd recognize Tsutsumi.
- 32:12Like, in a way, walking around when his hair's
- 32:15not dyed just looks like somebody's lesbian aunt.
- 32:23There was one day, there was one guy in a tracksuit
- 32:30that I was, like, I looked... probably four times.
- 32:35And I was like, no, it's not in a way because
- 32:37his eye's not fucked up. Like, don't air crack
- 32:40that one eye and it's different than the other.
- 32:43But there was somebody that looked exactly like
- 32:45him. And he was the right size and the right
- 32:48height. And he was wearing, like, a tracksuit.
- 32:50So you can't tell how muscular he is. And I was
- 32:53like, is that him? And then I realized it wasn't.
- 32:57Yeah, yeah. It was not him. I had to double check.
- 33:05Triple check. Well, speaking of triple checking,
- 33:11Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is back in December. Why?
- 33:19I had to triple check. Am I really reading this?
- 33:24That he's really back? I thought he went to jail.
- 33:29No, he got deported. No, but after that... The
- 33:34charges were dropped. Oh, okay. I thought he
- 33:37was in jail for cartel stuff. Cartel activities.
- 33:43Yeah, I was trying to remember the word for Mexican
- 33:46mafias. Nope. I wish my daddy was rich. Yeah,
- 33:55I wish my dad was one of one. A good way. In
- 34:03Mexican culture, in a very positive way. Yeah.
- 34:07My dad is one of one, but not in any way that
- 34:11anyone cares about. But yeah, that's it. Chavez
- 34:15Jr. is back on December 13th at the Guadalupano
- 34:21tournament. Whatever the fuck that is. Yeah,
- 34:28I... I assumed you knew what it was because you
- 34:30wrote it there. No, I just wrote it there just
- 34:32to make note of it. But I'm not sure what it
- 34:35is. All right. Anything more for the news? Not
- 34:43that I can think of. All right. So I'm going
- 34:48to throw some notes in here. Oh, wherever you

- 38:59Yeah. Not a lot to recap either. No. This has
- 39:06been a pretty kind of dead month. October has
- 39:10not been great. No. This has been rough. But
- 39:16November is shaping up very nicely. So at least
- 39:21we got that coming up. And December is always
- 39:24good. Yes. Everybody always tries to pack stuff
- 39:28in at the end of the year. Tax purposes. Yeah,
- 39:33I was thinking the same thing. So, on Saturday,
- 39:37October 18th, we had two cards. Farewell to Brooklyn.
- 39:41This was Danny Garcia's retirement tour kickoff.
- 39:47Four fights that I wanted to pick up. Damien
- 39:53Kaniba. He KO'd Seven's Joey DeWitchko. He probably
- 39:59KO'd his mouthpiece out of his fucking face.
- 40:05His mouthpiece did actually fit this time. Oh,
- 40:08good. But that... Did you not watch this one
- 40:11at all? I only saw a handful of the fights. Ah.
- 40:15That, uh... Damien... Naiba... Kaniba... However
- 40:19you say that. He's... Big. Like... He's, uh...
- 40:26What is he? 6 '7"? I think? Yeah, like... A large
- 40:31person. He's... Just... Getting started at 29,
- 40:37he's had, well, not just getting started, he's
- 40:39had 17 fights. But, like, I'm not saying he's
- 40:42gonna be the next star or anything, but he might
- 40:46be a bit of a problem at heavyweight in, like,
- 40:49three to five years. Like, he might be the next
- 40:54Hergovich or something. That's not a very fair
- 40:57comparison. He looked like he could actually
- 41:00box a little, but, I mean, it's also the Witch
- 41:03Co., so. But he's a big guy that moved pretty
- 41:07well. Alright, so yeah, he does have some potential.
- 41:12Yeah. I was surprised at how good he looked.
- 41:16He's a fucking massive Polish man. How about
- 41:23Chris Colbert getting the UD over Blas Ezekiel
- 41:27Karo? A little disappointed that Colbert didn't
- 41:32get a KO. Did he have that type of control of
- 41:38the situation? I mean, he had him knocked down
- 41:41in the middle of the fight. I feel like he could
- 41:46have went for it, but it's not a big deal that
- 41:50he didn't, I guess. I don't know. Chris Colbert
- 41:54is a bit of a disappointment to me. I thought
- 41:58he was going to be pretty good, and he's been
- 42:00on a real slump. So. Maybe he's leaning on his
- 42:06fried chicken bone a few days. Maybe. Oh, this
- 42:16one I think you might be a bit more excited for.
- 42:18Gabe Rosado. I actually I missed most of this
- 42:23one because it was really early on the card.
- 42:26Yes. I thought it would be later on the card.
- 42:28I missed it. But I heard that Gabe won. He did.
- 42:32You got a UD? I don't know whether I'm excited
- 42:36about that or not. Gabe needs to retire. This
- 42:40was an eight -rounder. It's like a... He's slipping
- 42:44into Journeyman. He is. I don't like it. Dude,
- 42:50keep commentating. You're really good at it.
- 42:53I actually do really like him as a commentator.
- 42:56I really do. I get excited when I hear Gabe on
- 42:59comms. I like his voice, and he's less biased.
- 43:05Yeah, and he's less biased than most of the commentators,
- 43:09in my opinion. I really like Gabe on comms. I
- 43:13want him to retire and just do comms. Same. Same
- 43:16with Donair. Yeah, Donair's... He's alright.
- 43:22Yeah, yeah. Donair's not as... outgoing on comms,
- 43:29I guess. Donair's pretty quiet on comms. Yeah.
- 43:35They have to ask him to get him involved. I was
- 43:40trying to formulate that in the sentence. I think
- 43:43Gabe is more natural at comms. He just kind of
- 43:46talks. But yeah, Donair's not bad. His analysis
- 43:51is really good, but he's not very funny or...
- 43:56And his personality doesn't come through on comms.
- 44:00Yeah. Oh, speaking of outgoing, Danny Garcia
- 44:06gets the KO4 over Danny Gonzalez. This one was...
- 44:12I don't know. Danny Gonzalez fucked his ankle.
- 44:20Did you see that? Yeah, the way that he rolled
- 44:23onto it. It bent, like, all the way around. That's
- 44:27why it was a KO. He was awake. He just couldn't
- 44:30stand up. It wasn't that bad of a shot. Like,
- 44:35compared to what we've seen from Danny Garcia
- 44:38in the past, considering that Danny Garcia is
- 44:42a little bit, I'm not going to say natural at
- 44:45154, but he's more accustomed to it. Whereas
- 44:49Daniel Gonzalez... They pulled him up from 146.
- 44:54140. 147. Yeah, he hadn't spent much time at
- 45:00147. The bulk of his career was at 140. A lot
- 45:05like Danny Garcia, but damn. Well, they were
- 45:09really playing into some super old rivalry in
- 45:13the lead up. The two Dannys. Botany amateurs
- 45:17or something? I don't know. I wasn't paying attention
- 45:20to the comms all that much. I mean, we all knew
- 45:27what this was. Exactly. Danny Garcia, like, his
- 45:33farewell. They called it a fucking farewell to
- 45:35Brooklyn. He's doing a victory lap, so he's not
- 45:40going to be taking a lot of risk. Yeah. I...
- 45:44Do you think we probably see him at least one
- 45:46more time in Philadelphia? Oh, hell yeah. Especially
- 45:50because it was kind of a highlight knockout,
- 45:53even if it wasn't that good. And this was, I
- 45:58think, the first show of Danny Swift Productions
- 46:02or whatever the fuck he calls himself. Swift
- 46:05Promotions. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely wasn't the
- 46:11best production I've ever seen. The audio was
- 46:15pretty shit. They had an odd choice of broadcast
- 46:19partner. Millions .co. I've worked with Millions
- 46:25in the past, and they're interesting. Okay. Not
- 46:32bad, just kind of weird. Yeah, it wasn't terrible,
- 46:38but you could tell it was not the usual level.
- 46:43Of shit. Yeah, you're right. It did seem like
- 46:48everybody was having fun. So, you know, whatever.
- 46:51Like, I'm sure in the building it was really
- 46:54fun. Even, like, the commentating was... Is this
- 47:01the one that was super weird? No, never mind.
- 47:04That was the MVP one. Yeah, is this the one that
- 47:09had Algieri on it? Yes, it had Algieri. One of
- 47:13the, like, Ock or Barack, what, like, one of
- 47:17those two guys. Okay, was that, that was this
- 47:20Danny Garcia card? Yes. It was really weird because
- 47:24they just had that third guy, like, rotating.
- 47:28Like, there was probably 11 people that came
- 47:32on to the, like, commentary mics. Especially
- 47:36early on. Brian Campbell, Chris Algieri, and
- 47:40then just a random... third well just like random
- 47:45boxers from the crowd would come sit down and
- 47:47chat that's weird like it it really felt like
- 47:52it felt like a retirement party because that's
- 47:56what it was but it was really casual that way
- 47:59like they had teo come on the comms at one point
- 48:03and somebody was yelling at him from the crowd
- 48:06like trying to get under his skin And Tio was
- 48:11clearly distracted and pissed off about it. If
- 48:15you only watched the end, you probably didn't
- 48:18see that. But if you watched the beginning of
- 48:22it, they were really just rotating that extra
- 48:27person. Which I thought was weird. Kind of interesting,
- 48:34but made it feel less professional to me. Yeah,
- 48:42I can see that feeling. I would... If I had seen...
- 48:46Unorganized, maybe? I don't know. Anyways, it
- 48:53really felt like a retirement party for Danny.
- 48:56And not so much a professional boxing production.
- 49:02Which is fine. I expect that if they do this
- 49:05again, and I do think they're going to do this
- 49:08at least one more time. they're probably going
- 49:11to have it play out the same way. Yeah. But I
- 49:17mean, like, I don't know if this is going to
- 49:19be the feeling for other Swift promotion things
- 49:22if they try to continue to run their own show.
- 49:26Well, I expect that Danny's going to try to continue
- 49:30promoting. But I suspect he'll... Is it? He's
- 49:37not going to switch over to, like, the standard
- 49:41type of show. Shrugging my shoulders. Cause I
- 49:47don't know. I just mean like, I think once Danny's
- 49:51not fighting on them, it's going to get more
- 49:53normal for lack of a better word. I see what
- 49:57you mean. It's not going to be a party and it's
- 49:59going to be more organized and more normal. Yeah.
- 50:04Like a standard promotion. Yeah. Yeah. But I
- 50:09do think we see Danny Garcia one more time in
- 50:12Philly because it's super fucking weird to have
- 50:14your farewell in New York when you're from Philly.
- 50:16Yeah. Agreed. That's exactly what I meant when
- 50:19I said we're going to see him at least one more
- 50:21time. I think he's going to do a Vegas one. He's
- 50:26going to do and then the Philly one. Those two
- 50:28at least. But that's just my speculation. I think
- 50:34if he hadn't looked good this fight, like if
- 50:37he'd eked out a decision or something, this was
- 50:39going to be the last one. But with that kind
- 50:42of knockout, he's going to fight at least once
- 50:43more. Yeah. Moving on to most valuable prospects,
- 50:5118, at the South Padre Island Convention Center
- 50:56in Texas. Oh, before we get into the real fights,
- 51:02can we talk about that shit show on the prelims
- 51:04real quick? Yeah, let's. I forget what their
- 51:09names were. That's how not important they are
- 51:11to me. It was Juarez, right? Juarez versus Leighton.
- 51:23Yeah. One round of fucking madness. Absolutely
- 51:31ridiculous. And just straight up bullshit refereeing.
- 51:37I think the house fighter was Juarez. He had
- 51:43to be. They gave him a lot more chances than
- 51:46was deserved. Reasonable? Yeah. Yeah, cuz. Well,
- 51:53let's go through it. Juarez was the favorite,
- 51:58for sure. and he got fucked at about two minutes
- 52:05left in the first round. He was out. He got knocked
- 52:09down. He stood up. He could barely stand. The
- 52:12ref stopped counting at one point for a little
- 52:15while for some reason, and Juarez was, like,
- 52:19hanging onto the ropes for dear life and could
- 52:22barely stand, and the ref gave him, what do you
- 52:25think, like 20 seconds instead of 10, maybe?
- 52:28Something like that. Like, quite a bit. This
- 52:31isn't a, like, fury, they counted to 13 type
- 52:36thing. Like, this was bad. They stopped counting,
- 52:39and he let him get up fully, and he was still
- 52:43wobbling around. He ends, like, without the fight
- 52:49being recommenced by the referee, he starts stumbling
- 52:52towards the opponent, to Layton. Yeah, that's
- 52:56why the ref quit counting. He's like, I didn't
- 52:59tell you you could fight. Get back. And I'm like,
- 53:02God damn it. So I thought it should have been
- 53:04over. I thought they were going to wave it off.
- 53:09They didn't. Who was that ref? Because he was
- 53:12shit. Lawrence Cole, which is kind of famous
- 53:17for being shit, actually. Oh, he's the worst.
- 53:20Anyway, Lawrence Cole doesn't wave it off. Uh,
- 53:23Juarez can't even fucking stand. So he goes in
- 53:27for like a clinch to try and survive. He trips
- 53:31and is just like hanging on the guy's waist.
- 53:34Does that twice. It's like trying to like tackle
- 53:37him, like football tackle. Yeah, he does that
- 53:41twice. So Cole takes a point super fast, but
- 53:45like this should have been over anyways. So who
- 53:48cares? Uh, he takes a point then. Juarez still
- 53:53can't fucking stand. So he does it again. So
- 53:55he gets a second point taken off in like 30 seconds.
- 53:59So we're at a minute and a half left in the round.
- 54:02And then Juarez out of nowhere lands a fucking
- 54:08haymaker and Leighton goes down. And Leighton's
- 54:12rocked and he stands up and he gets rocked again
- 54:15and gets knocked back down. And I think that
- 54:19was all the knockdowns, right? So there was three
- 54:21knockdowns and two points taken. Yes, you're
- 54:26right. And Leighton couldn't stand and didn't
- 54:32get the 30 seconds that Juarez got. And so Juarez
- 54:37wins by knockout in the first round. Except he
- 54:41should have been knocked out one minute into
- 54:44the fight. Possibly could have been DQ'd. For
- 54:48just how bad him grabbing onto his waist. It
- 54:52was so bad. I mean, the guy was knocked out on
- 54:57his feet. If you haven't seen it, just go watch
- 55:02it. It's like three minutes. It's on YouTube.
- 55:05There's no S on that. It's on YouTube because
- 55:09it's the prelims of his own card. It's a single
- 55:14round. And the interview afterwards is also fucked
- 55:19because the guy still has no idea where he is
- 55:22or who he is or what's happened. So if you have
- 55:2610 minutes, stick around for the interview because
- 55:28it was also hilarious. On the parts that I have
- 55:36listed here, Shredda Metcalf gets a UD over Crystal
- 55:42Rosado Ortiz. Not surprising. Desley Robinson
- 55:49stops Logan Haller in the second to retain the
- 55:53IBF and WBO middleweight titles. That was a brutal
- 55:59one. It was like she got her shook and then just
- 56:03pounced on her and beat the shit out of her.
- 56:06Nice. We love to see knockouts in ladies boxing.
- 56:11Yes. Omar Juarez gets a UD over Omar Rosario.
- 56:17Rosario got docked two points. I think Lawrence
- 56:22Cole was on a fucking roll here. Oh, was that
- 56:26also him? Yeah, I think so. No, BoxRec says it
- 56:31was James Green. I don't know who that is. So
- 56:34he was taking notes from his mentor. and Lawrence
- 56:38Cole. He docked him two points for holding. Overall,
- 56:45it was a pretty one -sided affair anyway, so
- 56:48the docked points didn't make all that much of
- 56:50a difference. And Lourdes Juarez's majority decision
- 56:59over Yessica Neri was 95 -95 and then two 96
- 57:06-94s. So, super close. Yeah, it was actually
- 57:14a pretty entertaining fight, I thought. Yeah,
- 57:16it was enjoyable. I watched it while I was getting
- 57:20ready for this. It's a stupid reason, but I started
- 57:27following Lourdes Juarez because one of my supervisors
- 57:32for my PhD was Lourdes from Mexico. Whatever
- 57:37gets you going. I was glad she won. Moving into
- 57:47the previews. October 26th to November 1st. We've
- 57:53got two less than exciting cards if you're not
- 57:58British. Let's see. Queensberry at the Co -op
- 58:05Live Arena in Manchester. November 1st. Going
- 58:12up the bill. I don't recognize very many of these.
- 58:17I recognize the co -main Bradley Rhea versus
- 58:21Lyndon Arthur. I think that's for an EBU title.
- 58:28Yes. And Joshua Boazzi versus Zack Parker. Both
- 58:35of those are light heavyweight fights. The Boazzi
- 58:38-Parker fight is for a WBO international something
- 58:43or other. Is it? Something like that. Yes. Some
- 58:50trinket. I honestly, I don't know who Rhea is.
- 58:58In that co -main. I don't recognize his face.
- 59:01I know the name, but off the top of my head,
- 59:06I can't recall where I've seen him. I also don't
- 59:10recognize anyone he's fought. I do know who Lyndon
- 59:13Arthur is. Yeah. So, I don't know. I guess I'll
- 59:19probably back Lyndon Arthur. Shrug my shoulders,
- 59:24because, yep, that's what I'm doing. He's only
- 59:27lost to the best, Lyndon Arthur. Like, all his
- 59:30losses are top guys. So I'm assuming if I haven't
- 59:35heard of Bradley Raya, he's not a top guy. Lyndon
- 59:42Arthur's really got himself into the gatekeeper
- 59:45role. Pretty nicely. Is he downgraded to gatekeeper?
- 59:56I would say so. If he's competing for a secondary
- 1:00:01title, I would say he is. Yeah, I guess. But
- 1:00:05he's only ever lost to Anthony Yard and Dimitri
- 1:00:09Bivel. Yes, that's true. So what's he keeping
- 1:00:15the gate of? The top level. The very best? Yes,
- 1:00:19the elite level gatekeeper. As opposed to just
- 1:00:23like a world level gatekeeper. Contender level.
- 1:00:29Fair enough, I guess. I don't know. I think Wyndon
- 1:00:34Arthur is probably going to win this one. I think
- 1:00:37so too. Even though he's... Oh no, he's not.
- 1:00:42I was going to say he looks like he's listed
- 1:00:44as the B -side. But I don't understand why. In
- 1:00:51solidarity, I will be riding with Lyndon Arthur.
- 1:00:56There it is. Listed as the B -side. I gotta ride
- 1:01:01with my kin. And I think Boazzi should beat the
- 1:01:08piss out of Parker, shouldn't he? Parker is like
- 1:01:11a domestic level guy making his step up. And
- 1:01:16Boazzi is at a similar... Level to Lyndon Arthur.
- 1:01:22But above. But better than Lyndon Arthur. If
- 1:01:26that makes sense. Yeah. I know what you're saying.
- 1:01:34I expect Boazzi to win that one. Me too. I would
- 1:01:38call it an upset if he loses. But. I don't. I
- 1:01:46know I've seen Zack Parker. But I don't remember
- 1:01:48him. Oh. John Ryder beat him. That's why I remember
- 1:01:52him. Moving to the last card that we have on
- 1:02:00the docket. Matchroom at the Caribe Royale. Excuse
- 1:02:04me. The Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. Headlined
- 1:02:10by Lanier Pero versus Jordan Thompson. I don't
- 1:02:17know who either of those are. Don't really know
- 1:02:19who they are. Yoelvis Gomez versus Antrevious
- 1:02:24Ingram. Yoelvis, I know who he is. Yes. It's
- 1:02:31a good name. Pat Brown versus Felix Valera. That's
- 1:02:36a good, it's a decent one. Pat Brown's a decent,
- 1:02:38decent prospect. And Mish. weight class is that
- 1:02:46that's cruiser cruiserweight and nishant dev
- 1:02:51versus juan carlos campos medina this is all
- 1:02:58big guys i don't know any of these people it's
- 1:03:01a decent card though like um all things considered
- 1:03:05maybe it's a solid like b tier card right it's
- 1:03:13okay it's not it's not a lot of uh name power
- 1:03:17but if you're for the hardcores this this one's
- 1:03:21for you yeah i just that florida card is mostly
- 1:03:32big guys i don't recognize very many names cuban
- 1:03:37heavyweight verse A British heavyweight. Not
- 1:03:44bad. Fair enough. Cuban heavyweights will always
- 1:03:54be a disappointment now because Luis Ortiz has
- 1:03:56my heart. Somebody needs to step up and take
- 1:04:03his place. Anything more for the... Reviews?
- 1:04:11Previews? No. It's another disappointing week
- 1:04:15is my analysis. It leaves a lot to be desired,
- 1:04:20yes. But we will push through. We persevere.
- 1:04:27What's the next big card, Leo? Oh, shit. November...
- 1:04:4118th? I believe is, um... Eubank vs. Ben 2? I
- 1:04:50guess that counts. As big. I'm gonna go. I'm
- 1:04:56going. Oh, yeah? Yeah, I'm gonna be there. You're
- 1:05:02flying out to England for it? Hold on, let me
- 1:05:05do this. Pop quiz hotshot. What's tiny, fuzzy,
- 1:05:10and responsible for a large portion of the food
- 1:05:13we eat? If you guessed bees, well, you nailed
- 1:05:15it. Seriously, one out of every three bites on
- 1:05:18your plate depends on bees. So there's a bit
- 1:05:21of bad news here. These little heroes of our
- 1:05:24gardens and dinners are struggling. Between habitat
- 1:05:27loss, climate change, and pesticides, it's a
- 1:05:31fucking bummer. Without them, our world would
- 1:05:33look a lot different and it would be a lot less
- 1:05:35delicious. But there is good news. Support for

- 1:07:07words, I'll start. Yes, I'm going to be at Eubank
- 1:07:10versus Ben too. I'm going to be in London. I'm
- 1:07:14not flying out specifically for the fight. I'm
- 1:07:17going just going to England to go to England.
- 1:07:21It just so happens that that is happening at
- 1:07:24the same time. That's exciting though. Is it
- 1:07:28your first time in England? Yes. Nice. First
- 1:07:31time in the UK. I guess I had a layover last
- 1:07:35night. That doesn't count. Yeah, it doesn't really
- 1:07:36count. It was like a few hours that I spent in
- 1:07:39London at the airport. I was going to say, if
- 1:07:44you don't leave the airport, it doesn't count.
- 1:07:45Okay, good. Because I don't count it either.
- 1:07:49But I'm excited. Yeah, people should send you
- 1:07:53recommendations. I know. I'm going to... So I
- 1:07:58got... I got Eubank Ben. That's on the 18th.
- 1:08:03The following weekend, I'm going to be in Liverpool
- 1:08:06with Robbie. Nice. And we're going to go. There's
- 1:08:11a Liverpool football game. I want to go to that
- 1:08:17because I want the quintessential experience.
- 1:08:21This is what you all like to do. You all like
- 1:08:25football here, so I want to go to it. If it wasn't
- 1:08:29Liverpool, I was going to try to go to a Manchester
- 1:08:31game or maybe one of the London teams like Arsenal
- 1:08:35or Chelsea or something. Yeah, but going with
- 1:08:41Robbie will be excellent. That'll be more fun.
- 1:08:44Yeah. I'm jealous. That sounds like a great trip.
- 1:08:50I just realized I'm going to have to stay up
- 1:08:54so that I can watch. Oh. It'll be before, like
- 1:09:00in the middle of the day, the card that's in
- 1:09:05Saudi Arabia. David Benavidez versus Anthony
- 1:09:10Yard. Brian Norman versus Devin Haney. You know
- 1:09:15which one I'm talking about? Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:17The ring four or whatever. Yeah. That's right.
- 1:09:22It's on the website. LBXmedia .com. The time
- 1:09:30zone's pretty similar there, isn't it? Yes. So
- 1:09:35that'll be right before the game. Nice. Excellent.
- 1:09:42Well, I don't have any fun parting words, I guess.
- 1:09:45Go Jays! I'm actually super excited about the
- 1:09:50Jays being in the World Series. That's fucking
- 1:09:53dope. I was a little worried for T -Money, but
- 1:09:57he'll get over it. Yeah, I'm super excited. I
- 1:10:02don't even watch boxing that or boxing. I don't
- 1:10:04watch baseball that much. But Vladdy in the playoffs
- 1:10:08has just been like fucking perfect. And they've
- 1:10:13been setting him up for these great moments in
- 1:10:16interviews and stuff. There was one where I think
- 1:10:20it was after game seven when they'd gotten in.
- 1:10:24the cameraman like ran around him while he just
- 1:10:27sat there and the crowd cheered and he was like
- 1:10:30tearing up and stuff. I was like, yes. Is he
- 1:10:33the pitcher or something? Nah, he's the first
- 1:10:36baseman. He's just, Vladdy's story is really
- 1:10:39good. His dad was also a baseball player. He
- 1:10:42played for the Montreal Expos. Vladdy was born
- 1:10:45in Montreal, but they're Dominican and he's just.
- 1:10:50he's what canadian immigration is all about type
- 1:10:54stuff like is that his dad was a dominican ball
- 1:10:58player so like super poor uh kind of that story
- 1:11:03but his son you know grew up in montreal and
- 1:11:07between montreal and the dominican vladdy's got
- 1:11:10like a hell of an accent and stuff he he doesn't
- 1:11:13sound very canadian uh but it's just a really
- 1:11:17good story. And then beating the Yankees, like
- 1:11:20the Yankees wouldn't, they fucked over his dad
- 1:11:23and they would kick Vladdy off the field when
- 1:11:26he was a kid. Like he was usually out there for
- 1:11:29warmups with the team and stuff. So Vladdy had
- 1:11:32a hate for the Yankees. Like him beating the
- 1:11:35Yankees is a all time great sports story. What
- 1:11:42about beating the Mariners? To keep them out
- 1:11:45of their first fucking World Series. World Series
- 1:11:49ever. Yeah, that was pretty rough, especially
- 1:11:51the way they did it. The comeback in the series,
- 1:11:55the comeback in Game 7. The Mariners had that
- 1:11:59great storyline, and Springer fucked it. But
- 1:12:04I want the Jays to beat the Dodgers so bad. Fuck
- 1:12:08the Dodgers. They just fucking win all the time.
- 1:12:12Like, what? What I have going for this one is
- 1:12:16that they have the wealth to buy all the best
- 1:12:21players. To buy the contracts or... I mean, Toronto
- 1:12:26also has a lot of money. I don't play into that
- 1:12:30storyline a whole bunch. The reason the Dodgers
- 1:12:33get the best people is because people want to
- 1:12:35live in L .A. Oh. They'll take... Like, if you're
- 1:12:40offered the same money to live in Toronto or
- 1:12:42live in L .A. Which are you choosing as a millionaire?
- 1:12:47I mean, everybody chooses L .A. Yeah. Kind of
- 1:12:51a no brainer. I suppose. Like people take pay
- 1:12:55cuts to go to L .A. and get out of Toronto. And
- 1:12:58Toronto is not even one of the bad cities. Like,
- 1:13:01imagine if you get offered the same money for
- 1:13:04Milwaukee and L .A. Where are you going to go
- 1:13:07play baseball? Where's your wife going to want
- 1:13:10to go play baseball? Well, right now the Dodgers
- 1:13:17are a super team. Are the Blue Jays a super team?
- 1:13:22No, no. We're kind of a ragtag team of misfits.
- 1:13:28We got Kirk. Alejandro Kirk is like 5 '6 and
- 1:13:34200 pounds. He's our backcatcher. Him running
- 1:13:37the bases is fucking hilarious. He got his first
- 1:13:40stolen base this year. We got a 42 -year -old
- 1:13:44pitcher or something that is a fucking psychopath
- 1:13:48and refuses to come out of the game. Yells at
- 1:13:50the manager. Who else do we got? Springer's controversial
- 1:13:55because he was on that Astros team. Bo Bichette
- 1:14:00is also a crowd favorite. He's coming back. He's
- 1:14:04been injured. You mean Bo Bichette, right? Yeah.
- 1:14:08I really thought that's what his name was. I
- 1:14:10feel bad about that now. I've been calling him
- 1:14:12Bitchit for years. Yeah, anyways, we are not
- 1:14:17a super team. No. That's why I want Dodgers to
- 1:14:22lose. Yeah. Jays in seven. No fucking chance
- 1:14:27we're sweeping anyone, but Jays in seven. All
- 1:14:32right. If that's it. That's all you got. And
- 1:14:35that's it for this edition of Boxing Before Dark.
- 1:14:39My batteries are getting low. It's battery. Why
- 1:14:43do I keep saying batteries? My battery is getting
- 1:14:45low. And it is getting dark. Woof. We'll see
- 1:14:52you on the other side of this fucking... Parker
- 1:14:57Wardley? Yeah. In the immediate, yes. We'll see
- 1:15:05you on the other side of Parker Ward.
