- 1:02up? What's up? Padley. Sorry, I had to throw
- 1:08that in there. Padley? No, I could never reduce
- 1:13myself to being British. I'd rather reduce myself
- 1:20to being British than reducing myself to Shakur
- 1:22food. Yeah. which is this that's these both so
- 1:26that's the difference yeah what's the difference
- 1:29well what the hell of an intro uh usually i would
- 1:38bring up some mma stuff but not gonna do that
- 1:41this time still ultimate effing casuals if you
- 1:44want to start maybe veering in that direction
- 1:47a little bit you want to test the waters a little
- 1:49bit we can help you out so let's get into the
- 1:52fucking recaps there's not a lot of them this
- 1:56is gonna this is uh this is gonna be a dire one
- 1:59yeah uh so on thursday april 10th fucking eye
- 2:04of the tiger that is how we are dipping down
- 2:08to the bottom of the barrel here um yeah i we're
- 2:12like in great depression times yeah this is rough
- 2:14boxing got tariff this week uh dimitri asanao
- 2:20gets a ud over francesco Fun. It's awesome. There's
- 2:27a lot of other stuff on it that I just cannot.
- 2:31CBA. That's going to be a 10 -minute podcast.
- 2:34Yeah. Break open that emergency. 40 minutes of
- 2:40ads, 20 minutes of talking. Oh, shit. 10 of those
- 2:44minutes are about with Josh Padley. I'm sorry.
- 2:48Yeah, I didn't. God, as much as I love these
- 2:53weird Canadian cards, I did not watch this one.
- 2:56You know what? I didn't get a chance to see that
- 3:02I was kind of hoping to see. Brian Mendoza and
- 3:06Shane Mosley Jr., they were on that card that
- 3:08was in Albuquerque, that Marv Nation that had
- 3:12Rampage Jackson as the headliner. And Rashad
- 3:16Evans. Yeah, they were boxing their first time.
- 3:20Oh, here's something for the Canadian card that
- 3:24didn't happen. Wyatt Sanford was supposed to
- 3:27make his pro debut against some guy, but it got
- 3:32delayed. It got delayed. The TBA, or I guess
- 3:38Sean Archer now. Oh, how fun. Yeah. So Shea Mosley
- 3:44Jr. won, right? I cannot find results. It's Marv
- 3:48Nation, man. Takes a bit. The Thunder Studios
- 3:54cards are usually better about it. Hey, but 15
- 3:59,000 tickets were sold. Damn, that's probably
- 4:03more than this matchup place. BoxRec can confirm.
- 4:07It's either 15 or 15 ,000. If you look at the
- 4:13BoxRec page for Shane Mosley Jr. It could be
- 4:20either. It could be either. Yeah, I choose to
- 4:24believe that. At The Pit, Albuquerque. That's
- 4:32the only reason I even got this on my radar was
- 4:35because of the name The Pit. It sounds either
- 4:39very good or very bad. Fernando Vargas Jr. was
- 4:43also on there. I don't even know if he won. No
- 4:46results at all. Yeah, no results. Just the ticket
- 4:49sales. They sold 15 tickets. Or 15 ,000. That
- 4:58would make me sad if they only sold 15. Shane
- 5:02Mosley Jr. was on the undercard. He's the golden
- 5:05boy, right? Yes. Wow. Yeah. Yeah, bye. Man, poor
- 5:17Brian Mendoza on this card, though. What a fall
- 5:22from grace. Well, like, he killed Fundora and
- 5:28then immediately got fed the Sioux and Bo -Chuck.
- 5:33And then Mendoza ate a bee. That's an emote in
- 5:38the Discord. Yeah. His swollen -ass face. Oh,
- 5:45yeah. So, Virgil Ortiz is better than Alton?
- 5:51Yeah. Seems to be. The triangle theory way? Yeah,
- 5:59because Boachuk beat Mendoza, and Mendoza beat
- 6:02the fuck out of Andorra. So, Virgil's better
- 6:06than all of them, which means Virgil should be
- 6:08out of speed. He's robbed. Hold on. Bokrum is
- 6:13still out here. Yeah, that's true. Demon mode.
- 6:25Virgil is undisputed in our hearts. True. He's
- 6:30undisputed in my heart. Slightly disputed. Gabriella
- 6:36Fundora is in there for you, Alex. That's right.
- 6:39No, no. is podcast and pro box are my heart yeah
- 6:45pro box is the undisputed champ of my heart let's
- 6:50move it to boardwalk hall geron ennis what fucking
- 7:00let me get some stuff he's him he's him uh chakram
- 7:04ghiasov ko4 over franco ocampo um very good to
- 7:09watch considering the What happened? Yeah. Congratulations.
- 7:13Amari Jones, KO1 over William Jackson. The hype
- 7:19train continues to build up steam. Oh, yeah.
- 7:25Not sure if I could say the same here. Ray Ford,
- 7:28UD over Thomas Matisse. He was very good. He
- 7:34was very good that night. It's just the guy doesn't
- 7:39have a lot of power. You know, that's what I
- 7:41was going to say is like I was this is he had
- 7:45the kind of performance that you would expect,
- 7:47but it didn't end the way that it should when
- 7:52you're fighting guys like this. The thing is
- 7:56that Ray Ford is again, he doesn't have any power.
- 7:59So, I mean, what can you really expect from the
- 8:01guy? Right, right. So he's going to outbox the
- 8:04hell out of him. He's not going to beat him.
- 8:07Shit. As long as he's realistic with himself
- 8:10and doesn't talk promise. Especially in the awake
- 8:13class. Right. Yeah. Promise like fucking earthquake
- 8:18shattering knockouts. Don't do that. He's not
- 8:24even on his bike either. He does box. He just
- 8:28has no power. Which I like about Ray Ford. I
- 8:32do think Ray Ford is a pretty entertaining fighter.
- 8:35The guy doesn't have a lot of power. You know,
- 8:37I like watching his skill a lot. You know? He's
- 8:40like Oscar Valdez. Yeah. Well, no, I think he's
- 8:44a lot better than Oscar Valdez. Yeah, he's more
- 8:47technically skilled than Valdez. But Valdez gets
- 8:50hit, and that makes it exciting in a way. It
- 8:58makes it exciting. We'll get to that later. Yeah.

- 10:50Ennis takes a Monta Stanionis' WBA title, his
- 10:55O. And his girl. I don't know about that one.
- 10:59I was an early adopter of Boots. I wasn't impressed
- 11:07by his performance at all. Really? Is what I
- 11:10would say if it was opposite day. You fucking
- 11:15got me. You got me, bro. That was a damn good
- 11:19performance from Boots. I was stunned. I was
- 11:22shocked. And honestly, like... I forgot what
- 11:25I said last podcast about Boots. You see why
- 11:28Cody Crowley doubted him. Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 11:32But last podcast, I remember if I was saying
- 11:37that, like, I knew Boots was going to win, of
- 11:39course, but I honestly was surprised he won that
- 11:42fashion that quick. Well, Karen, like, Chikudzian
- 11:49is such a negative opponent. He's so negative.
- 11:56Black hole of excitement. Yeah, like, I feel
- 12:02like anyone could fight him and look bad, and
- 12:06it doesn't mean it would be close either. Like
- 12:09a Sandler Martin type fighter? More or less,
- 12:13yeah. Like, he's just so negative that, like,
- 12:16whenever he tried to open up with boots, he got
- 12:21hurt. He even got dropped in the second fight.
- 12:25It's just, he said, like, some people, like,
- 12:29just don't grasp that, where, like, the Avenisian
- 12:32performance where he just beat the shit out of
- 12:35this poor guy. The thing about the Avenisian
- 12:38performance is that I don't even remember that.
- 12:40The only reason why I remember that performance
- 12:41is because of what day it was. That was... You
- 12:46guys remember that day? Yeah. That day was crazy,
- 12:50huh? I feel like the... You don't remember? What
- 12:57was on that day? The assassination attempt? Oh,
- 13:00yeah, fuck. Yeah, that was insane. I was working.
- 13:03I was like, what the fuck? Oh, I took my 30 and
- 13:06one of my coworkers was like, yo, someone just
- 13:08shot Trump. And I'm just like, what? Well, maybe
- 13:12we shouldn't say that on the air. Nah, it's fine.
- 13:15I can cut it. It's a thing that happened. We're
- 13:16about to get deported. speak for yourselves.
- 13:21We could cut that one out. I feel like the though
- 13:27like I feel like the performance like everyone
- 13:29should have like in terms of higher tier opponents
- 13:32was the Lipnets one. Yeah. Just an ass beating
- 13:38against a very similar opponent to Stanionis.
- 13:43The thing with this fight again I praise Boots.
- 13:48I'm not going to take this win away from him
- 13:50at all. He was amazing that night. Like, he looked...
- 13:53I don't want to glaze a lot. Go ahead and glaze,
- 13:58man. He looked phenomenal. He looked phenomenal,
- 14:01no doubt about it. Leo, you remember that other
- 14:04day I was arguing with Jacob? That other guy
- 14:07in the server? Yes, I think so. And he was like...
- 14:11Because he's a Boots Glazer, right? And the thing
- 14:15is that... The thing that pissed me off, not
- 14:18pissed me off, because I wasn't mad, but it's
- 14:21just that guy couldn't understand that Boots
- 14:24has his flaws. And in this fight, I still saw
- 14:26those flaws, but I don't really think that Staniotis
- 14:31wasn't really taking advantage of him as much
- 14:33as he could have. You know what I mean? Like,
- 14:35the whole standing in the pocket shit, he kind
- 14:38of was doing that this time around. Not as often
- 14:41as he did last fight. But he still would stand
- 14:44straight and wouldn't move around a lot. You
- 14:47know what I mean? Oh, yeah. In some aspects of
- 14:49the fight. And the thing is that if Stan Jonas,
- 14:52I think if Stan Jonas threw more, and he would
- 14:55have, because Stan Jonas was catching boots a
- 14:58lot. I mean, his accuracy was pretty good. You
- 15:01know what I mean? It's just that if he threw
- 15:05more, I think he could have done a little more
- 15:07damage. The fight could have gone on a lot longer.
- 15:10But that should be. That should be. Part of it
- 15:14is that Boots isn't just his flashy aspects.
- 15:19He's mean. He's got a chin on him. He's aggressive.
- 15:24The guy's aggressive. He's mean. He has a chin.
- 15:27He can take the shot. We'll see about that in
- 15:34the future. I really don't think it was tested
- 15:37too much this fight. I don't think so either.
- 15:41You know, I think... if Stanios caught him really
- 15:45well, because Stanios did catch him, but he caught
- 15:49him mainly with jabs and straight crosses, you
- 15:53know? But he didn't catch him with a good, really
- 15:55good hook, you know? Yeah. I need to see Boots
- 15:59take a hook straight to the face from a good
- 16:02power puncher to see how much he has. You know
- 16:06what I mean? That's part of it, though. I don't
- 16:08think he's ever going to take, like, a huge,
- 16:10huge shot. Like, he's leaky, but it's the...
- 16:13I feel like it's a similar... I've described
- 16:15Tank this way, too, in the past, where you are
- 16:20susceptible to a lot of pity -pat shots leaking
- 16:23through, but you're aware enough to not get caught
- 16:26by something huge. With Tank, I would disagree,
- 16:31but we'll talk about that today. I think Keisha
- 16:35would catch him pretty well. Yeah. No, I mean,
- 16:38obviously, I was proven wrong. rather recently
- 16:41with tank but in terms of like boots i feel like
- 16:44it's the same principle where like that me he'd
- 16:48rather he won't compromise in his offense to
- 16:53deal with shots that he doesn't deem worth uh
- 16:58dealing with yeah because it's a lot of pity
- 17:01pat stuff but as soon as like he gets winged
- 17:04with a big shot you can see he's on his game
- 17:06defensively Go on. You need someone sneaky. Someone
- 17:16sneaky? It's got to be someone sneaky who can
- 17:19actually get to him. Which, weirdly enough, a
- 17:23fight with Crawford would probably be the most
- 17:25fun thing. Because Crawford is sneaky like that.
- 17:29Sneaky like that. With Crawford, that would have
- 17:34been a great fight, but that's never going to
- 17:35happen. No, it's not going to happen. But you
- 17:37see what I mean about how Crawford's crafty enough
- 17:40to slip in a hard shot instead of making it obvious.
- 17:45You see, the thing is, I think the best fight
- 17:48to make right now, I mean, what's currently standing
- 17:52is a Norman fight, a unification with Norman.
- 17:55With Brian Norman, yeah. Because going up, there's
- 17:58nobody that he can fight. If he sees that match
- 18:01room, There's nobody that he can fight at 154.
- 18:04That's worth of shit. At 147, though, I mean,
- 18:08Norman is probably more likely to get a fight
- 18:11than any of the PBC guys. He's definitely going
- 18:14to own Norman. Yeah, everything that Norman does.
- 18:19The only thing I would give Norman over boots
- 18:22would be hand speed. And even that, I'm seriously
- 18:26questioning it now. And power. He does have more
- 18:31power than Boots, in my opinion, but I still
- 18:33think if Boots is a little reckless, he could
- 18:36get caught, and he could potentially get caught
- 18:38good. But it's... Boots is... I just... This
- 18:43is definitely glazing, but I feel like Boots
- 18:45just has the awareness of, like, he knows what's
- 18:48coming back at him. Like, it takes someone...
- 18:51It takes, like, a special level of either negativity
- 18:54or craftiness to spoil that level of awareness.
- 18:59You know, I still personally think, and this
- 19:03is going to be Blaze too, that Virgil Ortiz would
- 19:06beat Boots in a fight. No. It's a style thing,
- 19:11though. I don't know. I think Virgil would catch
- 19:17him really well. And also the fact that Virgil
- 19:19went toe -to -toe with someone like Belichick.
- 19:23We know that Belichick has style, right? Boots
- 19:26has the movement to not need it, if necessary.
- 19:29What I'm saying is I don't think Virgil will
- 19:31get done like Stan Jonas. No, not at all. I think
- 19:35that fight would – it either goes the distance
- 19:39for boots or Virgil knocks him out. You know
- 19:43what I mean? That's the only ways I see that
- 19:45fight going. Well, it could – cumulative punishment
- 19:50could also happen. I don't know. Virgil went
- 19:56to war with – Boa Chuck, dude. Boa Chuck is on
- 20:01fire. Boots places his shots in such a way that
- 20:05it's mean. It's just mean how he operates. Because
- 20:13they're placed in such a way that you're not
- 20:17going to like, yeah, he one -shots guys, but
- 20:21also they're placed in a way where you feel it.
- 20:24He's aggressive. The big reason why I like boots
- 20:28a lot is because he's aggressive. He's on the
- 20:31front foot. Oh yeah. Again, he has the movement
- 20:36and the explosiveness that if you give him something
- 20:40worth getting out of the way of, he can get on
- 20:45his horse and do that too. You'll do the Crawford
- 20:49take a punch to give a punch. Yeah. That's why,
- 20:53like, I just don't think anyone except for Crawford
- 20:55in the vicinity has that, like, level of craftiness
- 20:58to, like, meaningfully harm him. Yeah, I agree.
- 21:05But it's Glaze. It's totally Glaze. It's just
- 21:07Glaze, though. I was about to say, I think that
- 21:09is Glaze because I think someone like Virgil
- 21:11Ortiz, who's also very aggressive, who you know
- 21:14will come out swinging. Yeah. Could clip boots
- 21:17really well. But Virgil would need an extra dimension
- 21:21offensively. That I don't think we've seen. Well,
- 21:24I think he has more dimensions than Stanley Onus.
- 21:27Yeah. For sure. And I think that would obviously
- 21:31be Crawford's probably hardest fight. Yeah. Out
- 21:35of all the fighters he could fight, he would
- 21:36probably be the hardest. And I think that...
- 21:40Because the thing with slick fighters is that
- 21:42their kryptonite is an aggressive power puncher.
- 21:49I don't think you can categorize Boots as just
- 21:52slick, though. Well, not just slick, but he is
- 21:55a slick fighter, though. In my opinion, he is
- 21:57a slick fighter. The way he throws punches and
- 22:00dodges, he is slick. Oh, absolutely. Again, the
- 22:03only problem I have with him is that he just
- 22:05likes to stand around sometimes and just takes
- 22:07punishment for no reason. But, again, I mean,
- 22:12that's why he didn't do it much, which I liked,
- 22:15you know? I would say hopefully I was wrong about
- 22:22the fact that in his last fight with Chuka Sedazian,
- 22:25he didn't respect him much. But still, you can
- 22:28still get caught with some bullshit, you know
- 22:30what I mean? Yeah, but it's just the level of
- 22:32craft. Obviously, your level of alertness is
- 22:36way higher with someone like Virgil than with
- 22:40someone who is just overtly negative as a Terran.
- 22:47Yeah, I agree. I'll admit I was wrong about that.
- 22:53It's also just spacing. Boots is big and has
- 22:58a longer reach than Virgil. It's just the way
- 23:01Boots utilizes spacing. A lot of it is getting
- 23:08a guy to overextend and then punishing it tenfold.
- 23:14Stan Jonas had to overextend. He had to hop in.
- 23:18He has to reach the full length of his range
- 23:23and a bit more. Just with how Boots positions
- 23:27himself. I've also seen a lot of times in the
- 23:31fight where Boots also overextended himself.
- 23:34Except Stan Jonas didn't really take advantage
- 23:36of those overextensions. Do you know what I mean?
- 23:40Yeah. I feel like that comes with confidence.
- 23:42Yeah. But I feel like that comes in the observation
- 23:45period with confidence, right? Like, once Boots
- 23:49knows he's better than Stanionis, of course he's
- 23:51going to overextend and punish him. Yeah. Yeah,
- 23:54that's true. It's a different dynamic of the
- 23:56fight. Like, Virgil is on par. He's not... You're
- 24:00going to, like... Weirdly enough, Ennis looked
- 24:02great, but, like, obviously he can still be sharper,
- 24:07if that makes sense. Oh, yeah, sure. We said
- 24:12this last time about Jalalov, right? Like, he
- 24:14doesn't take it out of first gear because he
- 24:17doesn't really have to. Yeah. And that's, I feel
- 24:20like, how Enes operates defensively. I disagree
- 24:24with that notion. I agree with that notion, but
- 24:26I disagree with him for doing that. Yeah. No,
- 24:30like, it's not good that he does it. It's not
- 24:32good that he does it, but he does do it. Yeah.
- 24:35Yeah, that's right. Yeah. I'm not saying he's
- 24:41a genius for making his fights more risky doing
- 24:44it, but also, if it isn't fun. Well, I mean,
- 24:49I haven't really watched a boots fight that wasn't
- 24:51really fun. Yeah. All his fights I have enjoyed.
- 24:56They're easy to watch. I think he's good for
- 24:58the casual audience. I think I'm surprised that
- 25:01he's not really known too much amongst the casual
- 25:04audience. Because no one wanted to fight him.
- 25:07He was the complete product so quickly. Usually
- 25:12with the project guys who aren't amateur standouts.
- 25:18Because Boots is technically a project guy. If
- 25:21you look at the start of his career to now. But
- 25:25the thing is that he developed so into the full
- 25:29thing so quickly. There was no room to promote
- 25:35him without just giving him bigger fish. Yeah,
- 25:38like how, like, Top Rank promotes the prospect.
- 25:41Yeah, like, it went, like, you just, like, because
- 25:45he was on Showbox. Yeah. And, like, just he outgrew
- 25:50that quicker than, like, they could give him
- 25:52guys. And also, PBT just does not develop prospects
- 25:58well. Well, that's what Showbox is for, but...
- 26:02Again, he went from, like, showbox level to world
- 26:06title level. And, like, he's been the complete
- 26:11product for a while. Well, yeah, he's been the
- 26:15complete product for a while, no doubt about
- 26:16it, you know. But you also, you need to consider
- 26:20the fact that, like, there's a, like, even Lipinets
- 26:24at the time was a higher, you need to consider
- 26:27the value of the opponent relative to him. at
- 26:31the time of their fight at the time of their
- 26:33fight like right now yeah we know who boots is
- 26:36like the value the value is approximate but like
- 26:39at the time of the welterweight like you weren't
- 26:42gonna say yeah sure let me send like yeah sure
- 26:46hey arrow spence how do you feel about fighting
- 26:49boots ennis like who the fuck who's still on
- 26:54showbox or uh Like, any welterweight contender
- 27:00who was still around at the time, like, Keith
- 27:02Thurman was not fighting boots. Well, fuck no.
- 27:07Mikey Garcia was not fighting boots. Chris Van
- 27:14Heerden? That was... Yeah, like... It's fun.
- 27:19Van Heerden got cut and then, like, quit after
- 27:23getting his ass beat for a minute. Yeah, in 2019,
- 27:28like, me, like, all, like, Sergey Lipnits was
- 27:33number nine at welterweight, and he was, like,
- 27:35the most reasonable opponent to give boots. Because
- 27:39otherwise, it was Ugas, Danny Garcia, Sean Porter,
- 27:45Thurman, Pacquiao, Crawford, Spence. That's,
- 27:51like, a heavy, like... Which, like, you can't...
- 27:54You can't give any of those guys Boots as an
- 28:00opponent value -wise because he's on showbox.
- 28:04It's like Xander Zayas fighting the other guys
- 28:06that have won before. Even if he's ready. No,
- 28:10it's worse because Boots was ready. Yeah, I was
- 28:14about to say that. I was about to say that. Boots
- 28:17is ready versus Xander Zayas. He's not. It's
- 28:20like those guys fighting Xander Zayas, though.
- 28:22Yeah, you give him lip nads, and then you build
- 28:25his profile on undercards. But, like, he's still
- 28:27been the finished product. So I understand, especially
- 28:30because you can't, you just can't pull a welterweight
- 28:33contender who wants to fight him. Because, like,
- 28:38even, like, Cody Crowley was offered a career
- 28:41high, like, twice as much money as he's ever
- 28:43made, a world title opportunity to fight boots.
- 28:49And he chose to retire. Yeah. instead of fight
- 28:54Boots. He was having trouble within his family
- 28:57life. Oh, I know, but also... He would have gotten
- 29:02hurt real bad if he wouldn't have been all the
- 29:06way focused. Yeah, but I mean, even in the rankings,
- 29:11Stanionis beat Butaev, who didn't want to fight
- 29:14Boots. I don't know, man. With Boots, I think
- 29:19he's going to get... Not the benefit of streaming.
- 29:22But his career for the next couple of years is
- 29:26going to be pretty slow, depending on what decision
- 29:28he makes. Because, I mean, if he stays at 147,
- 29:32I doubt he's going to get a fight with the other
- 29:34champions. Maybe Norman is his probably best
- 29:39bet. Because I doubt TBC is not going to give
- 29:43the WBC that fucking... As much as I malign Turkey
- 29:47Al -Ashiq, Boots is on the right side of the
- 29:52street right now. Turkey decides to, especially
- 29:55because Turkey loves a good power puncher. I
- 30:00feel like Boots is a perfect action figure to
- 30:02play with for Turkey. Well, the problem with
- 30:05that is it really depends on if they wanted the
- 30:09other champions to be on the same card. Because
- 30:11I wanted the PBC fighter and I wanted the top
- 30:14-ranked fighter. And from what we've seen recently
- 30:17in recent boxing politics, They're kind of moving
- 30:22away a little bit from that. Well, it's because
- 30:26the money's starting to dry up. They're putting
- 30:29it into that TKO nonsense. Yeah. But the thing
- 30:32is, like, next Riaj season, because right now,
- 30:36remember, we're in that dead zone. Like, Riaj
- 30:39season starts again, and Saudi Arabia needs a
- 30:42supercard, and 154 is basically available. The
- 30:49thing with that is it really depends if Boots
- 30:53wants to go to 154, which from the way it sounds,
- 30:56I really doubt he wants to. And also, I really
- 31:00don't think that's a good career decision right
- 31:02now unless it was to buy a virtual. But it's
- 31:05also like, what does Boots do? Because he only
- 31:10has, especially because he's the guy where...
- 31:15yeah he's got the fundamentals in check but also
- 31:18he's gonna look like shit overnight he's just
- 31:20gonna get old one day oh yeah no yeah for sure
- 31:23because the way the way he moves that's not sustainable
- 31:25no even his power punching like the precision
- 31:29comes from the speed it's speed and then placement
- 31:32instead of placement first i mean shit his speed
- 31:38is impeccable you know no i know but the placement
- 31:41it's the placement and speed but once the speed
- 31:43goes the placement's gonna go too and the power
- 31:47yeah the power's the last to go out of all that
- 31:49yeah because his feet's gonna go as well like
- 31:52he's 27 he's 27 right now let's say he gets to
- 31:55like 33 34 with all of his reflexes intact like
- 32:03five years seems like a long time But, like,
- 32:07five, six years seems like a long time. But,
- 32:09like, if he fights twice a year, fuck, it's short.
- 32:15Boy, if he fights, like, in August or July, like,
- 32:19that's going to be four times a year, which is
- 32:21really, within a year time span, that's pretty
- 32:24active. It's good. But, like, the thing is that
- 32:29you want these fights to be better than, like,
- 32:36Evanesian. Oh, yeah, for sure. Or Castillo Clayton.
- 32:42The thing with Boots is that he just... I just
- 32:46need to see him fight some good competition like
- 32:48Norman. But I doubt they're going to give him
- 32:50something like that. That's the best competition
- 32:52he has. That's like the only competition he has.
- 32:55And it's not even that close. Yeah. It's kind
- 32:59of hard because there's not a lot of guys that
- 33:01can match him. I think the only guy that can
- 33:02really match his level... It's probably Virgil
- 33:06at 154. Like, I really, like, him being with
- 33:12Matchroom is a double -edged sword because Matchroom,
- 33:14just through the Turkey connection, kind of adds
- 33:17access to everyone. But when you don't have access
- 33:19to anyone, you're in the shits. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 33:23Like, Michael McKinson is, like, your Matchroom
- 33:27option at 147. That's probably his next fight,
- 33:32honestly. Or, yeah, so. Which, I don't want to
- 33:35be controversial. I really mean this in not the,
- 33:38I don't mean this in the rude way at all. Like,
- 33:41I'm happy that he, he asked off one. But I don't
- 33:45want to see him fight Boots, dude. I really don't.
- 33:47Because this is just, I just think what happened
- 33:49with his daughter, dude. I would feel so bad
- 33:51to see him get beat up like that. It's just pointless,
- 33:54too. Like. Yeah, it's pointless. He has Boots.
- 33:56Like, he's a guy with a record who's. getting
- 34:01up there and then like he just gets his ass beat
- 34:05by boots i'm like cool we gotta wait another
- 34:07four months or six months or however months to
- 34:11see if someone wants to fight him yeah like i
- 34:16really wish that like whatever boat like the
- 34:20fucking fatal theory oh like i really wish we
- 34:25would like so like low key Like, yeah, him fighting
- 34:30Ryan is an ass -beating, but also, like, I need
- 34:34the promo. Like, what Boots just needs more than
- 34:36anything is just, like, good promotion in his
- 34:39fights that are more than just, this guy's really
- 34:42good. I think a fight with Ryan could probably
- 34:44boost his pay -per -view potential. Oh, hell
- 34:46yeah. That would get your eyes on him. That would
- 34:50definitely, like, that would, like, fucking jumpstart
- 34:53his career, you know? The selling point is way
- 34:56more than just, hey. This guy is really good.
- 35:00The selling point is, like, hey, can Boots talk
- 35:04shit? Like, can Boots talk shit? We still don't
- 35:09know if Boots can talk shit because he's just
- 35:11that good at boxing. I think with Boots, he can
- 35:16talk shit for sure. He's a Philly fighter. He's
- 35:21going to talk shit. But that's what I mean. As
- 35:24soon as... We get, especially with the Bozienis
- 35:29there too, we can have the fucking crazy -ass
- 35:31fathers. As soon as Boots can cut a promo, even
- 35:37if he's the B -side to Ryan Garcia, if he proves
- 35:42that he can cut a promo beyond this guy's the
- 35:45best in the world, the paydays just present themselves
- 35:50by fighting him in Philly. I mean, I think...
- 35:56In my opinion, this is very controversial, which
- 35:58if you want to call in, you can. Tell me how
- 36:00wrong I am. Of course, like how you guys always
- 36:03do. I still think if he does fight Ryan, that's
- 36:07still a pretty dangerous fight. In my opinion,
- 36:10actually, the most dangerous fight for him at
- 36:12147. Besides Norman, of course. No, of course.
- 36:17Because Ryan's not a scrub. Yeah, Ryan's not
- 36:21a scrub. And also, I mean... If Boots does get
- 36:24hit with a left hook, dude, he might just fucking,
- 36:29you know... See, I'm of the opinion that he beats
- 36:32Ryan's ass. But also, like, there's... See, that's
- 36:36part of the promo, though. This guy's really
- 36:38good. But... Can Ryan beat him? Can Ryan beat
- 36:43him? And, like, it's just... It's perfect. Like,
- 36:49it's a perfect setup. just for boots is the rest
- 36:52of his critique because once he falls off he's
- 36:57it's gonna be like you're never gonna want to
- 37:01watch him again after he falls off it's gonna
- 37:02be like a roy jones level fall off yeah you think
- 37:05so or like his fucking magic powers will be gone
- 37:08overnight man i actually agree that's actually
- 37:11perfect the way you said it the roy jones level
- 37:13fall off is if what happens to boots if If he
- 37:17falls off, it's going to happen like that. It
- 37:18will literally look like he just forgot how to
- 37:22move. Just because his legs won't give him what
- 37:28he's used to them giving him. And it's a game
- 37:32of inches. It's a game of inches. It's like,
- 37:36oh, I used to be able to sway and roll a shot
- 37:38and then counter. And now it's, why am I getting
- 37:40hit by this? Why isn't my counter there? Why
- 37:44is my jab just a little short? Like, it's a lot
- 37:47of things. I would tell you, dude, I think Boots
- 37:50versus Ryan, like, that would be a perfect Riyadh
- 37:55event, dude. Like, perfect headliner for a match
- 37:58versus Golden Boy fight, dude. Oh, that would
- 38:00be a goaded card. That would be, honestly, like,
- 38:04again, it's fucking silly because, of course,
- 38:06it's Ryan Garcia, but, man, dude, like, I think
- 38:10that's potentially, like, $500 ,000 pay -per
- 38:12-view, dude. In my opinion. At the very least,
- 38:17there's guys like Alexis Rocha and Goldenboy
- 38:20to die. Giovanni Santillan, the guy who lost
- 38:29to Brian Norman. Don Kingflair. Blair the Flare
- 38:35Cobb. Fuck no. Absolutely not. Rohan Polanco.
- 38:42I was going to say, at least wheel out Broner.
- 38:47I know Blair beat his ass, but also give Broner
- 38:54one last good promotion. He's got alimony to
- 39:06pay. Plus the fines from when he defrauded some
- 39:13NBA players? Exactly. Like, as much as, like,
- 39:18he's so washed and it's not even worth Boots'
- 39:21time. Like, come on. I need to see Broner one
- 39:27last time. I can't have him go down. I can't
- 39:30have him go out sad. Oh. Boots versus Broner?
- 39:39That would be great. It'd be fun. Boots, the
- 39:43promotion would be fun. Like, that's the thing.
- 39:46Like, if Boots isn't fighting, like, his legacy
- 39:48fights, the promotions need to be fun. Yeah.
- 39:52Yeah. I mean, this promotion itself with Boots
- 39:55vs. Dan was just, it was pretty abysmal, honestly.
- 39:58Well, because, like, the whole thing is, like,
- 40:01Eddie doesn't know how to promote a guy yet,
- 40:04still. You either get the, this guy is really
- 40:09good, or they promote themselves. Yeah. Like
- 40:14with AJ, what promotion did he do with AJ other
- 40:17than this guy is really good? And with Usyk,
- 40:21this guy is really good. The thing with AJ is
- 40:24that he kind of promoted himself. Yeah, because
- 40:26he was a brand. AJ was a brand. Yeah, he's also
- 40:29a Brit. They love their fighters. You saw him
- 40:32when Usyk was with Matchroom. Those promotions
- 40:35fucking sucked because all Eddie could ever do
- 40:38in any of the advertising was, this guy's really
- 40:41good. He's one of the best of all time. He's
- 40:45the best today. He's great. The promotion needs
- 40:52to be fun. PBC's always done that, though. The
- 40:56promotions are great. PBC fights are just legendary.
- 40:59Not legendary, but what's the word? Of course,
- 41:00legendary, but they're just grand in nature,
- 41:03you know what I mean? They're an event. They're
- 41:06an event. They're not just a fight. It actually
- 41:08feels like a real boxing event, you know what
- 41:10I mean? It has that old -school HBO boxing feeling,
- 41:15you know? That is just bland. Tank Roach, if
- 41:19it were promoted by any group other than PBC,
- 41:23would have been a disappointment in how the fight
- 41:25went. But just because of the storytelling, like,
- 41:34the storytelling and the promotion and just in
- 41:37general, like, how PBC is able to, like, do a
- 41:43narrative that gets fans invested. They've been
- 41:47in the business for years. Yeah, it went from,
- 41:50like, ah, Tank Davis was a fraud to, like, damn,
- 41:54this Roja guy is good. Let's see a rematch and
- 41:57then... That's good how they spin the narrative
- 42:00because, you know, Tank is still a fraud, but...
- 42:03No, this is... I'm joking, I'm joking, I'm joking.
- 42:05Tank's not a fraud. I know, I know. You know,
- 42:09he's a little questionable. Well... A fraud watch
- 42:14is on hold until the rematch happens. Yeah. Let
- 42:20me do this real quick. Support for this episode

- 44:43thing. I titled this because all the promotions,
- 44:49all the British promotions are on it, so I just
- 44:51called this the British card. Yeah. And it's
- 44:56struggling to care, but let's go from the bottom
- 45:00up. Vidal Riley versus Siobhan Clark. At Cruiserweights,
- 45:04Chris Billum -Smith versus Brandon Glanton, also
- 45:07at Cruiserweights. Actually, that fight's fucking...
- 45:10That fight's going to be fire. Brandon Glanton
- 45:12is a fun fight. Both guys are 20 -2. That's pretty
- 45:17cool. Yeah. Now, if you watched Brandon Glanton's
- 45:21fight with David Light, that fight was so good.
- 45:26And, like, Billum -Smith isn't good enough to
- 45:29make it boring, so... It'll be good. Moving up.
- 45:36Anthony Yard versus Lyndon Arthur again. Is this
- 45:40the third time they're doing this shit? It's
- 45:41the third time. They're 1 -1 so far. Oh, that's
- 45:44right. I forgot Lyndon Arthur won the first one.
- 45:47He squeaked out a split decision in 2020. And
- 45:50then got his ass stopped in the fucking fourth.
- 45:53That's a pretty conclusive ending to a rivalry,
- 45:56in my opinion. Oh, I know. And then Lyndon Arthur
- 45:58went on to... Stink it up against Beeble. Yeah.
- 46:05I don't think he went above single -digit punches
- 46:09in any round. It was actually horrible. Struggle
- 46:15against Brian Nahuel Suarez in the depths of
- 46:20Argentina. And, yeah. Missed weight. Yeah. Missed
- 46:28weight. So... All the things you want to hear
- 46:32for an Anthony Yard opponent. Yeah, well. Who
- 46:37is either trash or the best in the world. I'm
- 46:43thinking Anthony Yard finishes this again in
- 46:46the four to six range. Oh, yeah. Doesn't make
- 46:51it past half. Hell no. Moving up, Liam Smith
- 46:57versus Aaron McKenna. The cash out of Liam Smith
- 47:01has begun. If it wasn't already underway. Nope.
- 47:06It's been underway for a few years. Yeah. Well,
- 47:12Aaron McKenna, brother. He's a brother of Tyrone
- 47:16McKenna. Yeah. Hopefully better brother. Yeah.
- 47:22I was looking at his brother a few moments ago.
- 47:27Very questionable recent string. Man, they've
- 47:31been trying to cash out Liam Smith for ages.
- 47:36Holy shit. Yeah. They really don't want him anymore,
- 47:39I'll tell you that. No, they tried cashing him
- 47:42out against Anthony Fowler in 2021, and he just
- 47:45cooked Fowler. Same with Sam Eggington. They
- 47:49kept trying to cash him out. Liam Williams, same
- 47:52thing. Chris Eubank, barely. Maybe, like, six
- 47:58times the charm in cashing him out. Maybe he
- 48:02used my win. You never know. Yeah. He's had gray
- 48:05hair since I was in high school, so maybe. I've
- 48:09never known him to not have gray hair. Yeah.
- 48:12Fuck. Well, there you go. In the main event,
- 48:17Chris Eubank Jr. versus Connor Eggman Ben. The
- 48:25Eggman. Dr. Robotnik? Yep, that's exactly what
- 48:30I was thinking. Dr. Robotnik. This shit feels
- 48:35so contrived to me. This fight's going to suck.
- 48:38I am not looking forward to this. I'm going to
- 48:42watch, but I'm not going to be excited about
- 48:45it. Chris Eubank is washed, but somehow Connor
- 48:49Ben is even more washed. Eggwashed? You know
- 48:55what? I think you must be sicko this week, dude.
- 48:59You think what? I must be a bigger sicko than
- 49:02you guys because I'm actually looking forward
- 49:03to that fight. Oh, really? What are you looking
- 49:04forward to? I like the rest of the card. The
- 49:07thing with that fight is only because I want
- 49:10to see one of them lose. Fuck, you're just a
- 49:13hater. I'm a hater, yeah. Honestly, fuck me because
- 49:18I'm going to watch it. Fuck me. No, I mean, I'm
- 49:21watching. I mean, I'm watching from, like, the
- 49:24Vidal -Riley fight. Pretty much everything, actually,
- 49:27looking on it, other than the main event, this
- 49:30is actually, like, low -key a pretty decent card.
- 49:33Like, if you rearrange it and make the Chris
- 49:35Billum -Smith -Brandon Glanton fight the main,
- 49:38it's solid. Yeah, it's solid. But, like, that
- 49:42fight's going to be so fun. We'll see what happens.
- 49:45The fight's going to be so fun. And then, you
- 49:49know, like... Man, if Anthony Yard doesn't beat
- 49:52Lyndon Arthur in like three rounds, I'm going
- 49:55to be disappointed. I think you are going to
- 49:58be disappointed. I'm going to be disappointed.
- 50:00No matter what. He should retire. Yeah, it'd
- 50:03be time to hang him up, buddy. Give it up. Give
- 50:07it up, buddy. And Lyndon Arthur can go on to,
- 50:11I don't know, lose to Callum Smith or something.
- 50:19That's just sad, man. Come on. That's not very
- 50:21nice. He already got his shot. He got his shot
- 50:28against Bivol and threw about as many punches
- 50:33as I did sitting on the couch. I'll tell you
- 50:38one thing about fucking... I'm surprised at how
- 50:43many... How long he stayed in contention for
- 50:46a title, man. I'm surprised. I mean, he just
- 50:50beat Bilazzi in a pretty good fight. Yeah, but
- 50:53now he's going to be mandatory again, right?
- 50:57Yeah, good for him. Well, he just doesn't lose.
- 51:00He wins the fights he needs to. He always comes
- 51:03back, you know? The man always comes back. And
- 51:07I respect that, you know? And I'm happy he can
- 51:10do it. It's just... every time he goes up to
- 51:14like a world class fighter like Canelo or better
- 51:16he could lose this you know well he's never lost
- 51:21that bad like yeah Canelo beat his ass but also
- 51:25like how much punishment aside from his arm did
- 51:28he really take same with Better BF like Better
- 51:31BF put it on him but also that's not the worst
- 51:34Better BF that's not the worst that Better BF's
- 51:37ever beat someone's ass like True, but, I mean,
- 51:40come on. Marcus Brown had a splash zone with
- 51:43how bad he was beating him. Well, the thing with
- 51:46Betterbeef is he did beat him pretty... He didn't
- 51:49beat him horrible, but he did beat him pretty...
- 51:52He got his ass beat, but, like, it's recoverable.
- 51:56It's not, like, career -changing. Yeah, I guess
- 52:00you're right, yeah. Yeah, seriously. Like, with
- 52:04Joe Smith Jr., fuck, like... Oh, no, okay, that
- 52:07was... That was horrible. Marcus Brown had to
- 52:11splash them ringside. Both guys were cut, and
- 52:19then Marcus Brown's face just kind of got turned
- 52:22into mush. They're like, we're going to stop
- 52:25this in two rounds if it's still bleeding, so
- 52:29better be able to just fucking kill them. That
- 52:32was one of the scariest things I've seen from
- 52:35a fight. Kvazdik retired for several years after
- 52:41Beterbiev made him rethink his life. Made him
- 52:47rethink his life. It's tough. Calum Smith, pretty
- 52:53recoverable because he just got stopped. It's
- 52:55not like he got turned into paste. Yeah, you're
- 53:00right. I take back what I said. You were right.
- 53:03And he wins the fights he should to stay in contention.
- 53:06Why not? You're right. You are absolutely right.
- 53:10Bivol's arguably more winnable than Beterbiev
- 53:13for him, too. And... Not by much. That's kind
- 53:18of wild. That is a really wild take, in my opinion.
- 53:22Well, it's just, like, the thing... He's too
- 53:25stationary to not get teed off on by Beterbiev.
- 53:31You think you'd have an easier time with Bivol?
- 53:34Oh, he loses both. But he loses both, obviously.
- 53:39But I think Bivel's the more doable one. I mean,
- 53:42yeah, I guess more doable, but I think you're
- 53:45not going to win against Bivel. Like, it's a
- 53:460 % to 1%, but at the very least, like, Bivel,
- 53:53you're never at risk of getting stopped by Bivel
- 53:55if you're Callum Smith. Well, I'm... I mean,
- 54:00you're at risk in every fight, you know. Don't
- 54:02forget, a man can always get knocked out. Oh,
- 54:05of course. But, like, in terms of, like... Like,
- 54:08if you're a stationary big man, like, your style
- 54:11is pretty stationary, you're rather the guy who...
- 54:14Nothing but decisions, except for, like, the
- 54:17fluke against Sanad. Or a guy who... literally
- 54:26made his living beating the shit out of stationary,
- 54:29like, out of guys much more mobile than you are.
- 54:33Yeah. Yeah. I mean, honestly, I know this might
- 54:37sound silly. I think he would have a better chance
- 54:39against Better Beef than B -Bowl. I get that.
- 54:43That sounds funny because he already fought Better
- 54:44Beef, but B -Bowl is not going to win that at
- 54:46all. He's a fucking god. Yeah. I guess. That's
- 54:50wild. That's wild. But he's a generational talent.
- 54:54Like, you're not beating him at all. You know,
- 54:56unless you knock him out. But better be, I mean,
- 54:59with him. I think Benavidez. I think Benavidez
- 55:02has a good shot, actually. Against Cal Smith?
- 55:05Of course, yeah. Against Bivol. It's Bivol. Oh,
- 55:08shit. That's even crazier. I mean, yeah, I think
- 55:13it would be. It would be. He's alive. He's alive.
- 55:18Yeah, he's alive. I think a easier fight would
- 55:21have been with better beef, in my opinion. Yeah.
- 55:24But I just think, like, the traps Benavidez sets
- 55:26to, like, deny athleticism on offense is, like,
- 55:32with, like, Morel. Morel's a big, like, athletic
- 55:36guy when you see him. Like, he's big on athleticism,
- 55:40and you just see some of the traps. Same with
- 55:42Andrade, actually, too, if we're talking about
- 55:44movement. I mean, yeah. But Benavidez just is...
- 55:47Well, I mean, it's not, like, it's, like... It's
- 55:53up to how much Bibble wants to engage too, because
- 55:55Benavidez, he's just crafty. He's very crafty,
- 55:59and it's not like Bibble needs to fall for it
- 56:03fully. It's just enough to get a bit of momentum
- 56:05here and there, and then... In my opinion, I
- 56:08think whoever hosts that card, if they ever fight,
- 56:12they're a fighter who's going to win. If it's
- 56:14a matching card, Bibble's going to win. If it's
- 56:16a PBC fight... I don't think Benavidez can win
- 56:20a decision against Bivol just because of the
- 56:21amount of time it would take to set the traps.
- 56:24Oh, hell yeah. Let's say Bivol is absolutely
- 56:29impervious to a lot of Benavidez's early offense.
- 56:32By the time it gets remotely competitive, there's
- 56:35like five early rounds that are banked and it's
- 56:37done. But the thing is that Bivol... Like, the
- 56:42thing is that Benavidez is just, he's young and
- 56:45athletic. He doesn't have the knees of a 60 -year
- 56:48-old who, like, he doesn't have twice operated
- 56:50on knees. But in my opinion, I mean, Bivol's
- 56:53even more athletic than Benavidez. Yeah, but
- 56:56the thing is that Bivol already has trouble maneuvering
- 57:00out of Beterbiev's traps. And Beterbiev is 40
- 57:05and has the knees of a geriatric man just due
- 57:08to his injuries. In regards to movement. You're
- 57:13making a really good use of Benavidez. So. Yeah.
- 57:16Like Benavidez. If Benavidez is setting a similar
- 57:19type of trap. But with a bit more volume. And
- 57:21a bit more athleticism. Yeah. I mean. Dude. You
- 57:26could probably. Just give you something to think
- 57:28about. Yeah. Yeah. I mean. That's making me think
- 57:31about it right now. Yeah. Very good insight.
- 57:36Well. Hey. Well this has been fantastic. I've
- 57:40just been enjoying the conversation. That's all
- 57:43we got, though. That was it. To bring it back
- 57:45around. Chris Eubank Jr., Connor Ben. I hope
- 57:49you knock each other out at the same time. And
- 57:51nobody wins. Let me do this. They're going to
- 57:55fight again. We have to redo this. Of course
- 57:58they are. We have to redo this circus. I had
- 58:03technical difficulties. I'm sorry. I don't know
- 58:06why it turned out for me. He left and rejoined.
- 58:10I think I was so happy about what Josh told me
- 58:14about Benavidez maybe winning. I think I just
- 58:16overreacted. You had to go share it with the
- 58:20world. Everybody! Benavidez is a champ! Well,
- 58:26actually, Benavidez is now a champ. Oh yeah,
- 58:30email champ. I honestly think with these podcasts,
- 58:34I think... We should spend a little bit of time
- 58:37just talking about some of the politics that
- 58:39go on. Because some of the things that go on,
- 58:40we don't really talk about here. We got to talk
- 58:43sometimes about the politics. I feel like that's
- 58:46when we get more of a viewer base, though. Like
- 58:49right now, we need the... We're just starting.
- 58:53We need the broad scope. We could talk about
- 58:57the fights. And yeah, we're still for hardcores,
- 59:00but it's something more listenable to than...
- 59:04Yeah, Al Heyman only makes this much money, and
- 59:07to stay below the second apron luxury tax on
- 59:11a card, he needs to only pay guys this much,
- 59:14and that's why this guy can't fight this guy
- 59:16at this time in this state. I'm not talking about
- 59:19that. I'm talking about more of the drama and
- 59:21shit. Yeah, that too. Like Benavidez, or people
- 59:24talking about ducking Benavidez. That was kind
- 59:26of big news this week. I don't think it's ducking
- 59:29more than it is like they were going to do a
- 59:31trilogy from the second to this time, the first
- 59:33fight. that's not ducky i'm just saying like
- 59:35the view that yeah was ducky benavidez you know
- 59:37yeah i i'm just saying like maybe one day we
- 59:40should like maybe implement just go over some
- 59:42news yeah yeah some boxing news like you know
- 59:45yeah like oh ryan garcia was calling pads you
- 59:48know or some you know some bullshit like that
- 59:49yeah yeah this is that is to you know this recommendation
