- 3:17Speaker 1: to Money Making Conversations, Bishop td Jake's Hello, Thank you
- 3:21Speaker 1: for having me. Bishop. Did I lay you out there?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Lay you out there? Come on your your story is.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I've been fortunate and blessed to have met you over
- 3:33Speaker 1: the years in my working relationship with Steve Harvey, and
- 3:36Speaker 1: you've never disappointed and you you've laid a path of
- 3:40Speaker 1: opportunity for individuals like me to say I can do this.
- 3:44Speaker 1: And I when I look at the book that we're
- 3:45Speaker 1: going to talk about, Soul Build your Vision from the
- 3:48Speaker 1: ground up, it is truly a person's blueprint for success
- 3:53Speaker 1: as an individual and especially an entrepreneurship. Why did you
- 3:56Speaker 1: decided to do it this time, sir? You know it
- 3:59Speaker 1: was It was really a lot of thought and prayer
- 4:01Speaker 1: and every went into it because my liability is my
- 4:05Speaker 1: own career and people see you as a clergyman they
- 4:08Speaker 1: have difficulty seeing you as anything else. And yet the
- 4:11Speaker 1: elephant in the middle of the room is I've done
- 4:14Speaker 1: over five hundred million dollars worth of films gross at
- 4:17Speaker 1: the box office, continue to be in that arena and
- 4:20Speaker 1: now doing television with Lifetime, done a lot of projects
- 4:24Speaker 1: and outside things beyond the pale of clergy. And when
- 4:28Speaker 1: I look around in our communities, it's not just preaching
- 4:31Speaker 1: that we need. We need information about business, about entrepreneurship,
- 4:35Speaker 1: recreating our lives. People who were a second chance citizens,
- 4:40Speaker 1: ex offenders, how do they get back up on their
- 4:42Speaker 1: feet again, Mothers who have empty nests, people trying to
- 4:46Speaker 1: subsidize their income, looking for a job when you may
- 4:49Speaker 1: have to create the job that you need. And I
- 4:52Speaker 1: wanted to have a conversation with my generation about it.
- 4:55Speaker 1: It's important. And before we get into the book, it's
- 4:58Speaker 1: two sections I want to talk talk about. It's the
- 5:00Speaker 1: front of the book, in the back of the book,
- 5:02Speaker 1: and in front of the book you talk about the
- 5:04Speaker 1: Texas Offenders re Entry Initiative, which I knew nothing about.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Let me give up my listener to the background. Launching
- 5:11Speaker 1: two thousand five, the t o r I program has
- 5:14Speaker 1: served over ten thousand formally and cost the radio adults
- 5:18Speaker 1: across the state of Texas in healthcare, employment, housing, spirituality,
- 5:23Speaker 1: education and family. But ten thousand Bishop TV JAS it
- 5:27Speaker 1: isn't that. The number is actually up to seventeen thousand
- 5:29Speaker 1: now that have gone through our program. We meet them
- 5:33Speaker 1: once they get out of prison. We put them into
- 5:35Speaker 1: a year or two two year training program that helps
- 5:38Speaker 1: some of them to get g e D. S of
- 5:41Speaker 1: them have gotten jobs as a result of being there.
- 5:43Speaker 1: We direct them into housing, We work on their family skills,
- 5:48Speaker 1: We do anger management classes. We do very practical dress
- 5:52Speaker 1: how to dress for an interview, UH, that sort of thing,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and we continue to enhance it. I meet with CEOs
- 5:58Speaker 1: and corporate leaders of about giving a certain amount of
- 6:01Speaker 1: job a lot. That's the second chance citizens. And uh,
- 6:04Speaker 1: we have had accommodations from the Obama administration or down
- 6:09Speaker 1: through the years. We've been appreciated by the criminal justice system.
- 6:13Speaker 1: And we're getting ready to have a graduation and for
- 6:16Speaker 1: a whole new match of students are coming through the program.
- 6:18Speaker 1: So it's alive and well. If you ever need me
- 6:21Speaker 1: to speak to him, you know, I'm about motivation, about uplift.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You know my life. I've come from the intercentent fifth world.
- 6:27Speaker 1: I've been fortunate. My degree is in mathematics and corporate
- 6:30Speaker 1: trained and IBM, and I just know that sometimes you
- 6:33Speaker 1: need to hear a person just came from a community
- 6:35Speaker 1: that wasn't supposed to be the blessed community stepped out
- 6:38Speaker 1: there was was was pushed in the right direction. You
- 6:42Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. We all are pushed, but sometimes
- 6:44Speaker 1: we don't. We ignore that push or that motivation. And
- 6:47Speaker 1: the right people motivated me. And when I was at
- 6:49Speaker 1: the front of the book, I wanted to bring that
- 6:51Speaker 1: out because it's important to be in the book. Only
- 6:54Speaker 1: thing I would say, I bought the book on Kendall.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I bought your books there. They could at least go
- 6:59Speaker 1: online and up a ten thousand and seventeen thousand. Okay,
- 7:04Speaker 1: it's digital. They can't go in there and take that
- 7:05Speaker 1: ten thousand and seventeen thousand. Okay. You know. The number
- 7:09Speaker 1: is so staggering. And people who have been following me
- 7:11Speaker 1: for years, some of them knowing, some of them do.
- 7:14Speaker 1: If you follow me on social media, you get to
- 7:16Speaker 1: see the graduation and the clips of the graduation, or
- 7:18Speaker 1: if you remember my church, you know it. But if
- 7:20Speaker 1: you just watch my television, so you would never know
- 7:23Speaker 1: that we're doing anything like that. We've been doing this
- 7:25Speaker 1: for years, I know. And there's another segment before we
- 7:28Speaker 1: get in the book I want to talk about. It's
- 7:29Speaker 1: the back of the book, okay, because it's an appendix
- 7:32Speaker 1: section called well you it's called definition of term section. Well,
- 7:37Speaker 1: you really break down, explain to people what a sole
- 7:39Speaker 1: proprietorship is, corporation is cash flow, balance sheet, and these
- 7:44Speaker 1: are statements to scare people because they don't know where
- 7:47Speaker 1: to go. They don't know where to turn. So and
- 7:50Speaker 1: then you have another section called other resource section. Well
- 7:53Speaker 1: you explain to people what a small business administration is
- 7:57Speaker 1: and what website to go to, you know, all these
- 8:00Speaker 1: a score website to go to, Black Enterprise, Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur magazine,
- 8:06Speaker 1: all these things. Why was it important? Because I read
- 8:10Speaker 1: a lot of books. I've been motivated a lot over years.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I've been fortunately they have done talk shows like you have,
- 8:15Speaker 1: so I've gotten a lot of books come my way
- 8:16Speaker 1: over the last ten years of my life. I've never
- 8:19Speaker 1: seen this in a book. Why did you decide you
- 8:22Speaker 1: did not want to write a puff piece of fluff books.
- 8:27Speaker 1: You know, you can make it and name it and
- 8:28Speaker 1: claim it and go after your dreams and all that
- 8:31Speaker 1: kind of stuff. Because the motivation without information least to frustration.
- 8:40Speaker 1: So I did not want to further motivate people without
- 8:42Speaker 1: providing the kind of information that would call him to
- 8:45Speaker 1: end up with frustration. Uh every And you know that's well,
- 8:49Speaker 1: if you've done entertainment business like you have, every genre
- 8:53Speaker 1: of business has its own legal and language. You can't
- 8:58Speaker 1: function in that genre if you don't learn the language.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You you you wouldn't go to Spain to live and
- 9:04Speaker 1: not learn Spanish. You wouldn't go to Paris about learn French.
- 9:07Speaker 1: And if you're going to go into business, you have
- 9:09Speaker 1: to learn the language. And I've tried to make it
- 9:11Speaker 1: simple enough. It's not like a whole foreign language, but
- 9:15Speaker 1: there are some terms so that when you're in the meeting,
- 9:17Speaker 1: you have some sense of what they're talking about and
- 9:20Speaker 1: you're not intimidated. So many people are going in the
- 9:23Speaker 1: business because they have a talent. They have the talent,
- 9:25Speaker 1: but they don't have the terms. And the terms helps
- 9:28Speaker 1: you to be able to escalate the talent because then
- 9:31Speaker 1: you can craft the business model to protect you, because
- 9:35Speaker 1: business is a jungle and you can get devoured out
- 9:39Speaker 1: there if you don't know how to protect yourself and you.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And that's why I was telling everybody right now. The
- 9:44Speaker 1: show Money Making Conversation is designed for entrepreneurship. Free information
- 9:49Speaker 1: I provide to my listeners and viewers. If you on
- 9:52Speaker 1: my Facebook page, this is the first book I've ever
- 9:54Speaker 1: encountered that is a book you go to the shelf,
- 9:57Speaker 1: if you walk away, and you can build your career,
- 10:00Speaker 1: build your life not only through your faith, but all
- 10:03Speaker 1: through two principles. Throughout this book, it's about sorry. And
- 10:08Speaker 1: the analogy is taken from the fact that as a kid,
- 10:11Speaker 1: which I was related to. I related to the fact
- 10:13Speaker 1: that my dad, my dignity Land trip was to go
- 10:15Speaker 1: to the airport and watch the planes take off. Well
- 10:19Speaker 1: you when I read that, I said, this is my book.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It was chief entertainment back then. We go to the
- 10:27Speaker 1: airport and Western plates take off. My kids would think
- 10:29Speaker 1: we were crazy if I took them to the airport
- 10:31Speaker 1: to watch some planes take off, but it was the
- 10:33Speaker 1: only kind of entertainment my parents could afford. Uh. It
- 10:37Speaker 1: led to me becoming fascinated with the right brothers the
- 10:40Speaker 1: Right Brothers become the metaphor for the book because they
- 10:43Speaker 1: built their airplane in the bicycle shop, and and it
- 10:47Speaker 1: just it's a great conversation that I love the writing
- 10:50Speaker 1: the book. Wow, I know it's I know it. I
- 10:52Speaker 1: know it can't stay on the shelves. I know it.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Can I stay on the shelves. Gem excited about it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Let me do a quick shout out, uh live for
- 10:59Speaker 1: you to live me go. But there's a couple of
- 11:01Speaker 1: things I think they need to know. My international Pastors
- 11:05Speaker 1: and Leadership conferences coming up, and pastors and leaders come
- 11:08Speaker 1: from all over the world to be a part of
- 11:10Speaker 1: this media. They learned everything about organization, infrastructure, staffing, development, budgeting,
- 11:16Speaker 1: maintaining because in many ways, in order to run a
- 11:19Speaker 1: church with any staff at all, you have to have
- 11:22Speaker 1: some business acumen. Even if it's just to acquire property
- 11:25Speaker 1: or to build low income housing, there's a business acumen
- 11:28Speaker 1: that needs to be there. What is new about this
- 11:30Speaker 1: year is that we also include classes for entrepreneurs. So
- 11:35Speaker 1: if you enjoyed soon you want to really build on
- 11:37Speaker 1: the information that was provided in the mode, they can
- 11:40Speaker 1: go to Pastors and leaders dot org and get more
- 11:43Speaker 1: information about it at. One quick thing I want to say,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I think you're based in Atlanta, Is that right? Well,
- 11:50Speaker 1: Atlanta is well familiar with women are at loose, and
- 11:53Speaker 1: I did it there for years and years and years,
- 11:55Speaker 1: filling up the Georgia nomen, so forth and so on.
- 11:58Speaker 1: This time, I'm going to do something new in October
- 12:01Speaker 1: that has never been done before. I'm doing a master
- 12:04Speaker 1: class for woman or Lucy's gonna be in Dallas. I'm
- 12:07Speaker 1: only taking a small amount of women. It will not
- 12:10Speaker 1: be a stadium sized crowd. It's gonna be October eighteenth
- 12:14Speaker 1: through the twentie. I'm building and bringing me and many
- 12:18Speaker 1: of my friends who are masters at what they do.
- 12:21Speaker 1: It's gonna be amazing. So whether you're evangelist, pastor, entrepreneur, businesswoman,
- 12:26Speaker 1: a career woman, professional woman, got more hats than you
- 12:30Speaker 1: have head trying to run, I've got something for you
- 12:35Speaker 1: October eighteen twenty. And they can go to a woman
- 12:38Speaker 1: w T A L dot org. And it's just an
- 12:41Speaker 1: opening page up right now. I haven't really started pushing it,
- 12:45Speaker 1: but I thought I would serious since I'm talking to Atlanta. Well,
- 12:48Speaker 1: thank you for sharing that, but more importantly, thank you
- 12:50Speaker 1: for writing that book. God bless you, sir. You know,
- 12:53Speaker 1: the thing about it is that I've always been a
- 12:55Speaker 1: fan of what you do, and you're actually you know,
- 12:59Speaker 1: you can call a jaded book reader and then read
- 13:01Speaker 1: a book where I gained so much information, so much knowledge,
- 13:04Speaker 1: and I'm just going to share to the world when
- 13:07Speaker 1: people hear this show, the fact is you have the blueprint.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Stop stop looking at anywhere, stop reading other things. This
- 13:13Speaker 1: man was born in the house of entrepreneurs. The success
- 13:18Speaker 1: is google him, Google him, you see. And the consistency
- 13:22Speaker 1: and the fact that he's given back in two thousand
- 13:25Speaker 1: five or with seventeen men and women out of Texas incarcerated,
- 13:30Speaker 1: a living a positive life, with over fifty of them
- 13:33Speaker 1: getting jobs. Sir, thank you for coming on my show.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm a fan. I'm a fan of a We're gonna
- 13:39Speaker 1: keep selling these books, selling these books about Bishop. We'll
- 13:48Speaker 1: be right back with more from Marsan McDonald. The money
- 13:51Speaker 1: making conversations. Don't touch that down. When I was an
- 13:53Speaker 1: FBI agent, I was aware of home title fraud. There
- 13:56Speaker 1: was little we could do to stop it. Now there's
- 13:59Speaker 1: home titleck. This online bank was for closing on us.
- 14:02Speaker 1: They even had documents that I signed for a home
- 14:05Speaker 1: equity loan. Only I didn't what a nightmare. I didn't
- 14:08Speaker 1: have home title lock then, but you bet I haven't.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Now your homes title is online where international thieves can
- 14:15Speaker 1: find it. They'll forge your title, take out loans using
- 14:18Speaker 1: your equity, or sell your home outright. Identity theft programs
- 14:22Speaker 1: and insurance don't protect you for just pennies a day.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Home title lock predicts my most valuable asset, my home.
- 14:29Speaker 1: As a police officer, I've seen what home title fraud
- 14:32Speaker 1: doest of victims. So I registered for home title lock,
- 14:35Speaker 1: and when I did, I discovered some thief had already

- 17:24Speaker 1: Ain't that I know anything? American maid rechn I don't
- 17:28Speaker 1: know how to fix uh yet. Uh I can fix
- 17:31Speaker 1: anything American may. I know how to pull uh put
- 17:34Speaker 1: an alternator? All that I got started? What I started,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I started votes regulator, you know, all of that little
- 17:43Speaker 1: town stuff. But what I can't do. I can't put
- 17:45Speaker 1: a transmission car. I don't have to that. Transmission's a
- 17:48Speaker 1: real job there. See. I can do the starter, Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 1: they can do the radiator. You can do the battery.
- 17:52Speaker 1: The battery, I'm I'm I'm a battery. Then I can
- 17:57Speaker 1: do it like I can do it like it ain't
- 17:59Speaker 1: nothing so so so so so, that's so so. That's what.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I should add that to your intro or anybody should
- 18:06Speaker 1: add that to intro landscaping, to the intro now escaping.
- 18:10Speaker 1: And I don't know what you call people that slip
- 18:12Speaker 1: to the house. That's what you call them. House flippers.
- 18:14Speaker 1: House flippers, absolutely, house flipp Okay, let's talk about and
- 18:19Speaker 1: I don't flip on the set and set them up
- 18:21Speaker 1: for section. They I get people that's gonna pay some
- 18:23Speaker 1: real rent, real rent, real money, real real money. Don't
- 18:29Speaker 1: have to go find them. They have that sad story
- 18:31Speaker 1: because you know, they know you're on TV, they know
- 18:34Speaker 1: you're on the radio, so they know they're gona have
- 18:35Speaker 1: a sad story for you. Look at how I'm doing,
- 18:38Speaker 1: so you you have to worry about it. You get
- 18:39Speaker 1: the people with the money so they won't have to
- 18:41Speaker 1: worry about that. Sast I'm wantching, not ricky. I'm not
- 18:44Speaker 1: running from you. I'm not running from So is that
- 18:47Speaker 1: another tea money? Right? Is that another team? You get
- 18:49Speaker 1: them right out of medical school. You know, house already
- 18:53Speaker 1: got friendership in it, already decorating, sir, and you get
- 18:56Speaker 1: the stuff, and you you let that. They walk in
- 18:59Speaker 1: the house and on thing they have to do is
- 19:00Speaker 1: body clothes. Their parents got money. They write your bick chicken,
- 19:03Speaker 1: they move me and you're happy, and you're very happy.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I am happy to day. Has been a good two days. Man,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I used to weed either. I used to lan more.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I put on some scott we feed, got my spreader,
- 19:17Speaker 1: I got the sprinklers out and stuff to make sure
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know, uh that that fertilizes to get into that grass,
- 19:22Speaker 1: to kill that craft grass. Whether uh I got bermuda grass,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I got fescu grass. I got sixty four grass in
- 19:30Speaker 1: some of the yards. So see the hiding the all
- 19:33Speaker 1: of that stuff. Well, you know the thing about it
- 19:36Speaker 1: is that I cannot argue with you because I do
- 19:39Speaker 1: the same thing you said everything. You know, I'm looking
- 19:43Speaker 1: for you to slip up. You know what I'm saying.
- 19:44Speaker 1: But you need to slip up at all, because you
- 19:46Speaker 1: know you do. Do you do your weeding feed between
- 19:49Speaker 1: February and May. That's when you do your weeding feet
- 19:52Speaker 1: because you're gonna come back and later all with the
- 19:53Speaker 1: fool with the fool, so you can you can build
- 19:55Speaker 1: that that that that good green look. But you gotta
- 19:58Speaker 1: get rid of the weeds here right really now, do
- 20:00Speaker 1: you drop down the ant killer? Do you put in
- 20:02Speaker 1: the ant killer out there for those fire ants? I
- 20:06Speaker 1: mix it in with the country he's straight, country man,
- 20:12Speaker 1: straight and your part or your part man, I'm a Houston,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Texas boyd talk to a Burminham boy to Southern boards.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I can I can argue no more about you don't
- 20:23Speaker 1: know what you're doing. Remember earlier I said really landscape
- 20:26Speaker 1: and really, but when you talk about you mixing fie
- 20:29Speaker 1: a killer and we didn't feed together and rolling out there, brother,
- 20:33Speaker 1: you don't pull with your game. So Rick, how are you?
- 20:36Speaker 1: How you're trying to do all this extra stuff? Let's
- 20:38Speaker 1: talk about that morning show before we get the dish nation,
- 20:40Speaker 1: before we get to the tour this morning show, man,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I just want to I want to back back a
- 20:45Speaker 1: little bit about you're a funny guy. You're known for
- 20:49Speaker 1: incredible characters, or you're humanitarian, but you're really a social activist.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And that's a major, a major desire for people to
- 20:59Speaker 1: understand that you care and you will put the side
- 21:02Speaker 1: a step aside, step pass a joke to make people
- 21:05Speaker 1: understand that we have to take this serious. Why is
- 21:08Speaker 1: that so important? You rickey smiling? Well, you don't want
- 21:11Speaker 1: people walking up to you. Do your down make me laughing.
- 21:15Speaker 1: People ain't gonna have no respect for you as a president.
- 21:18Speaker 1: You don't stand for something and people don't celebrate Mohammad,
- 21:21Speaker 1: I leave because he's knocked that beat, Joe frases. People
- 21:24Speaker 1: celebrate Mohammad. I leave because the way he stood for Mohammad,
- 21:28Speaker 1: I put it all on the line. When you make
- 21:30Speaker 1: I don't care how much money you make. I don't
- 21:32Speaker 1: care how successful you are. If you don't stand for something,
- 21:38Speaker 1: what what what what if if if you if if
- 21:42Speaker 1: you ain't women to not for something, you're not fit
- 21:44Speaker 1: to live right right right? And that's what you know.
- 21:47Speaker 1: But would you say that with passion though you know
- 21:49Speaker 1: that I say that, it's not it's not something you're
- 21:52Speaker 1: saying that just in the cavalier. And I've always known
- 21:55Speaker 1: that about you because because you know, because you you
- 21:58Speaker 1: are really you know, like I said, God has blessed
- 22:01Speaker 1: us all because we're talking right here on the phone,
- 22:03Speaker 1: on the phone, on the radio podcast, all series x M,
- 22:06Speaker 1: all these formats. But the thing about it is that
- 22:09Speaker 1: it's more important that you understand that you have a
- 22:11Speaker 1: strong community involvement, and there is the joke is not
- 22:15Speaker 1: bigger than than the community and and and delivering the
- 22:18Speaker 1: right and that's that's consistent with you. Was that I mean,
- 22:23Speaker 1: I mean, Sun, you know God has been good that you.
- 22:26Speaker 1: God give your responsibility, sir. You know, UH reached one
- 22:30Speaker 1: teach one man. You gotta get out of here. You
- 22:32Speaker 1: know how they help people. You got you a nice house,
- 22:35Speaker 1: You got you a couple of cars. So it ain't
- 22:37Speaker 1: about you. In my book, I talked about, you know,
- 22:41Speaker 1: when my grandmama died. Then I left the cemetery and
- 22:44Speaker 1: got on the plane. And when he did the show
- 22:45Speaker 1: that night, I did. I showed with the same suit
- 22:49Speaker 1: with tears and snot in it that I wore to
- 22:52Speaker 1: my grandmama's funeral because gifts Sean, Hey, grandmama died too,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and their mama died and they did it, died and
- 23:01Speaker 1: their kids died, and they got cancer and they got
- 23:04Speaker 1: Luke Kenyan, who are you the councelor? So as much
- 23:07Speaker 1: as given, much as required, you got to go out
- 23:09Speaker 1: here and do Gods. Well, you know what I do
- 23:11Speaker 1: on my birthday. I don't walk around all months with
- 23:14Speaker 1: money tent to me thinking everybody's shout and turn back
- 23:18Speaker 1: with some songs for my little stinking birthday. You know
- 23:21Speaker 1: what I do on my birthday every sun, the lady
- 23:24Speaker 1: that gave birth to me, I go kick her up
- 23:26Speaker 1: and we go to the Salvation Army and we put
- 23:29Speaker 1: on aprons and I'm buy a birthday kick and cut
- 23:32Speaker 1: it up and feed it to the homeless and have
- 23:33Speaker 1: my birthday every year with the homeless because Jesus Christ said,
- 23:39Speaker 1: what about the least of these? You understand what I'm saying.
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's that's what it's all about, you know, because in
- 23:47Speaker 1: this year, that's important. I just don't want to say
- 23:50Speaker 1: that that's I've never heard that story and I'm saying
- 23:52Speaker 1: it's not true because of the fact that you're not
- 23:54Speaker 1: trying to publicize that story. Correct. You know, it's about
- 23:58Speaker 1: it's a personal thing that you realize that it's kind
- 24:01Speaker 1: of like humanizes you. You know, it brings you back
- 24:04Speaker 1: to reality that where you could be if things didn't
- 24:07Speaker 1: go right in your life, right right right, I'm telling you, man,
- 24:13Speaker 1: you know you look and you see people's supper. Man,
- 24:16Speaker 1: God give you a spirit of dissignment as a comedian,
- 24:19Speaker 1: because when you walk up on stage and you're looking
- 24:22Speaker 1: at them, people in the eyes, and people that work
- 24:24Speaker 1: they asked of to put together fifty dollars to come
- 24:27Speaker 1: see you perform. You look at their shoes, their jury,
- 24:29Speaker 1: they clothes. You've been looking their eyes and tell that
- 24:32Speaker 1: they were to run away, that they're sick, you know,
- 24:34Speaker 1: the hair coming out because they got cancer. And you
- 24:37Speaker 1: point them out and you're tell them to come to
- 24:39Speaker 1: the fund of the stage and you tell them to
- 24:40Speaker 1: come backstage. I can't even tell you how many oh
- 24:44Speaker 1: bit your wearies all over the country where my picture
- 24:46Speaker 1: is inside there bituary wind It took a picture with
- 24:48Speaker 1: their loved one because God let me see it. You
- 24:52Speaker 1: let me love on them people, and people be like, wow,
- 24:54Speaker 1: and here you are. And I'm gonna do this. Man,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. I got
- 25:00Speaker 1: them playing. I think about Miss Mary Ann and MSR. James,
- 25:04Speaker 1: you know, and Miss Andrews, all these people that interrope me.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Who got dancer. I went on the plane and walked
- 25:10Speaker 1: in their living room and how happy, and they're excited
- 25:12Speaker 1: that they was now here, gonna here. I am wake
- 25:15Speaker 1: up and do a morning show. I get the perform
- 25:17Speaker 1: in front of millions every morning, and then here go
- 25:19Speaker 1: these other folks wake up every day facing death and
- 25:24Speaker 1: and and and I have a responsibility to go see
- 25:27Speaker 1: about him, even if I go and take pictures. I
- 25:30Speaker 1: went and hug h hood that man. That man gripped
- 25:34Speaker 1: me up and stood up with one leg to take
- 25:38Speaker 1: a picture with me. I said, I said, you're gonna
- 25:39Speaker 1: stand up, he said, man, he said something to take
- 25:41Speaker 1: stand up and take this picture you because I can't
- 25:44Speaker 1: believe that you in my living room. So that's like,
- 25:47Speaker 1: that's making wishes come true. Man, man, you know, and
- 25:53Speaker 1: he in two weeks he was gone, you know, Reverend
- 25:56Speaker 1: Reverend Parks here going man and and and and tell
- 26:00Speaker 1: to school and and and help people and and did
- 26:03Speaker 1: all these wonderful things and stuff for people. And then
- 26:06Speaker 1: he got cancer. You know. We buried him last week,
- 26:09Speaker 1: but just able to make people smile. And we bought
- 26:12Speaker 1: him a church man. We fixed up his stellership Holland
- 26:14Speaker 1: and his church and stuff. You know, man, that's why
- 26:17Speaker 1: I used the brand in order to do good. You understand, Hey, Rickie, smile.
- 26:23Speaker 1: I love you, man. I gotta say that to the world,
- 26:26Speaker 1: and I hope everybody understand that you're beyond the jokes.
- 26:29Speaker 1: And that's another time I want to do uncensored. I
- 26:31Speaker 1: want you to doing uncensored man on TV one. I
- 26:34Speaker 1: want the people to hear you want I'm gonna call
- 26:36Speaker 1: him and say you need to do an uncensored Man
- 26:40Speaker 1: on TV one. I'm gonna called D'Angelo Steve and tell
- 26:43Speaker 1: her make sure we get Rickie smiling an uncesered in eighteen. Okay,
- 26:49Speaker 1: keep winning, brother, hey man, thank you for leting to
- 26:51Speaker 1: be on here show. Thank you for the opportunity to

- 31:03Speaker 1: Miss Patty LaBelle. H, Patty girl, you are a brand.
- 31:12Speaker 1: You are a brand, and I had to put it
- 31:14Speaker 1: out there let everybody know. You know, you didn't control
- 31:16Speaker 1: of your name, you know, because some people that go,
- 31:18Speaker 1: I am the real I am this the one and only. No, no, no, no,
- 31:23Speaker 1: I Miss Patty lab That's who I am. And that's
- 31:29Speaker 1: that's that's that's a great. Uh. Congratulations and all your
- 31:33Speaker 1: success being an entrepreneur. But I want before we get
- 31:36Speaker 1: into that part, I want to talk about you being
- 31:38Speaker 1: on virch once Dear Mama, a Love Letter to marm
- 31:42Speaker 1: hosted by my good friend Lilla Anthony and my boy Anthony,
- 31:45Speaker 1: and tell us about what you're doing on the show tonight. Well,
- 31:49Speaker 1: I'm surprising pup Daddy's mother with one of her sons
- 31:53Speaker 1: of Patty label that she loves. Are you are my
- 31:55Speaker 1: friends and I just, I mean, I think happy to
- 32:00Speaker 1: have been asked to do this, you know, and I've
- 32:02Speaker 1: known Puff and his mother for a land time and
- 32:05Speaker 1: they're so genuine and you say no to something like that, Well,
- 32:09Speaker 1: you know you. You know you're a conversationalist in concert
- 32:13Speaker 1: because I've seen you many times and you are. You
- 32:16Speaker 1: move people and you motivate people through your music. I've
- 32:19Speaker 1: seen people, I've seen people cry, I've seen people go
- 32:22Speaker 1: to church in your concerts. That that that that Care's
- 32:26Speaker 1: a lot of responsibility when you do a show, doesn't it, Patty? What?
- 32:31Speaker 1: Of course it does because once I, uh, it's always
- 32:35Speaker 1: on stage, and then my musical director and are we
- 32:39Speaker 1: go over the list. It's like twenty songs for an
- 32:41Speaker 1: hour and uh thirty minutes or ever how long I
- 32:45Speaker 1: can be on stage. But whenever I go out and
- 32:48Speaker 1: see the audience, that list change every day. And never
- 32:51Speaker 1: you saw five shows in every night, the same song
- 32:57Speaker 1: will be different because that sing differ. Only I interpret
- 33:01Speaker 1: things definitely every time I get on stage, So you
- 33:04Speaker 1: can never predict what Patty's doing, the saying let's say
- 33:07Speaker 1: and I believe that. Now let's let's go to this acting.
- 33:10Speaker 1: This is acting that you're doing. Now, you know you
- 33:13Speaker 1: on you on the Star Fox TV show Star you're
- 33:17Speaker 1: playing Queen Latifa's mother. Christine tell us about that role
- 33:21Speaker 1: or paint with Titha is one of my best friends
- 33:23Speaker 1: from back in the day, and she always would call
- 33:26Speaker 1: me sort of like mom, and you know sometimes the guy.
- 33:29Speaker 1: It's like, I said to her mother's tuner, I I
- 33:34Speaker 1: accepted Queen toward until Adelphia about a week after her
- 33:37Speaker 1: mother past because she couldn't accept it. And when I
- 33:40Speaker 1: heard I was going to play her mother, I said,
- 33:41Speaker 1: this is just perfect. But then when I heard I
- 33:43Speaker 1: was playing a gangster, like I gang the mom. This
- 33:47Speaker 1: be a stretch. But most of my friends, thank you,
- 33:51Speaker 1: thank you, thank you who you did, and I am
- 33:56Speaker 1: that woman. Brandy. Brandy is all for my daughter on there,
- 34:02Speaker 1: and I'm gonna go back and do some more episodes.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Let's lead Daniels and I mean, I'm happy to do that.
- 34:09Speaker 1: So and then I'm on the show Green Leads over
- 34:11Speaker 1: Winfrey's on the own network. I'm playing a minister. I'm
- 34:15Speaker 1: a pastor. Okay, so you played a gangster playing against
- 34:18Speaker 1: the mom on the Star and you're playing a minister,
- 34:22Speaker 1: a minister with the woman. That's diversity there, girl, that's diversity.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah. And then on a Netflix. I'm playing Patty LaBelle.
- 34:34Speaker 1: I am h Alan Arkins wife dies and it's with
- 34:38Speaker 1: Jay Leno and Michael Douglas and I'm playing Patty Labell
- 34:42Speaker 1: singing Lady Marmalade at a funeral. And you know that's
- 34:45Speaker 1: that's a stretch to sing that kind of sung out
- 34:47Speaker 1: a funeral. Okay, So I'm offered things and I'm just
- 34:53Speaker 1: happy to be in the position not I am ex
- 34:55Speaker 1: send me three. Because usually when you age, you, uh,
- 35:00Speaker 1: things don't come to you as much. You know, you
- 35:02Speaker 1: you disappear, right, I've not. I've not been you know,
- 35:07Speaker 1: disappearing with folks. And it's just a blessing, you know.
- 35:10Speaker 1: I know that it could happen the other way totally
- 35:13Speaker 1: for me, but it's happening in a great way. Well
- 35:15Speaker 1: you know. That's why. That's why I mentioned social media
- 35:19Speaker 1: to you. Because you are relevant and that's that's really
- 35:22Speaker 1: the difference in being seventy three twenty years ago and
- 35:25Speaker 1: being seventy three today. Because you're relevant on Facebook, you're
- 35:28Speaker 1: relevant on Twitter, you're relevant on Instagram. And it used
- 35:32Speaker 1: to be just having a website and a fan club.
- 35:34Speaker 1: So don't don't underseil yourself because of the fact that
- 35:37Speaker 1: you made yourself a topical brand. And I always tell
- 35:40Speaker 1: people about that, especially as an entrepreneur. You being so
- 35:43Speaker 1: topical means that we can follow you as fans. You
- 35:46Speaker 1: your engagement or whatever you post something on your social
- 35:48Speaker 1: media is powerful and relevant. And also you post inspirational
- 35:52Speaker 1: quotes too that inspire us to realize that you know,
- 35:56Speaker 1: there's no age when you cannot be successful. That's what
- 35:59Speaker 1: your vision is of me. And you know what also
- 36:02Speaker 1: that made me feel so great is when I did
- 36:04Speaker 1: dance when the starts at one and after that at
- 36:07Speaker 1: the airport closing Marcase. People say you did that at
- 36:10Speaker 1: certainly once a we can do anything said anything. You
- 36:13Speaker 1: put your heart to sister number. Its not a stopper.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Now let's talk about this. Let's talk about this, this
- 36:19Speaker 1: cooking show, because I'm tired of people. I'm telling I
- 36:23Speaker 1: don't know how word got out there. I was bringing
- 36:25Speaker 1: you on my show, but I've had least three celebrities
- 36:28Speaker 1: called me go how can I give? You? Just asked
- 36:31Speaker 1: Patty how can I get booked on her cooking show?
- 36:34Speaker 1: So please tell the world, Patty, how do you get
- 36:37Speaker 1: your guests for your show? Because I'm time. I'm talking
- 36:39Speaker 1: driving up here to day. I got two texts. Please
- 36:42Speaker 1: tell Patty show, Please tell Patty. So how do you
- 36:45Speaker 1: get on your Well, first of all, you don't have
- 36:49Speaker 1: to be a celebrity, Okay, you can do just an
- 36:52Speaker 1: everyday woman or man or whatever. Uh. And I have
- 36:56Speaker 1: a lot of celebrities that's been on the show. It's
- 36:58Speaker 1: because that's just come out ask them. And so if
- 37:01Speaker 1: there are any celebrities that want to ask me to
- 37:03Speaker 1: maybe on, just go to patty about dot com and
- 37:05Speaker 1: put it out there and I'll let you know if
- 37:08Speaker 1: you're worthy. But I'm only joking. The gangster side you.
- 37:16Speaker 1: That was the gangster siety. Love. I love walking your
- 37:19Speaker 1: show because because you know you you you know you
- 37:22Speaker 1: pick stuff over your hands because your hands are clean.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Because you know a lot of cooking shows everything everything
- 37:27Speaker 1: is with fargs and everything. But when you're cooking in
- 37:30Speaker 1: your kitchen, come on, now, you're handed leaning. I remember
- 37:33Speaker 1: when Jay Harden, you know, take and take up those range.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You can't be mixing hands rings on you you bro.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Now I've done some things with the rings on, but
- 37:45Speaker 1: if not with mixing. You can't mix stuff with dirty
- 37:47Speaker 1: fingernails and rings. You cannot do that. You can't do that,
- 37:50Speaker 1: you absolutely tell now, let mess you this about the
- 37:54Speaker 1: Patty's Good Lifeline which is currently included eyes, cobblers, just
- 37:58Speaker 1: the entrepreneurship side. What I want to just keep at
- 38:02Speaker 1: seventy three, that you're becoming a brand with banana putting
- 38:06Speaker 1: in fancy kicks all available Walmart. Where is that that
- 38:09Speaker 1: right now? Tell us how I know it's exploding, tell
- 38:12Speaker 1: us about it. It's exploding. And I'm also, uh, I
- 38:16Speaker 1: had betting you know at Macy. I have betting at
- 38:20Speaker 1: um Walmart also, and I have so many other things
- 38:24Speaker 1: like twenty eight items about to appear, you know, uh
- 38:28Speaker 1: my brand, and we're just moving right along with quality.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Uh nothing that so better taste and nanty you don't
- 38:36Speaker 1: want to eat or something's not so soft that you
- 38:38Speaker 1: don't want to put it in your bed. I'm doing
- 38:41Speaker 1: the best I can with what I have. And what
- 38:43Speaker 1: I have is my son who is my manager, and
- 38:46Speaker 1: friends Alex who you know who pushed me like crazy
- 38:50Speaker 1: and for years they've been working for this Good Life brand.
- 38:53Speaker 1: And the Sweet Potato Pies were the first thing that
- 38:57Speaker 1: you know, we put out there and they did quite
- 38:59Speaker 1: quite well. I mean, you're still doing more. We know.
- 39:01Speaker 1: The thing I just want to tell everybody about you know,
- 39:04Speaker 1: you be on VH one tonight on the Dear Mama
- 39:08Speaker 1: special and you being Concerns made thirteenth to James L.
- 39:12Speaker 1: Knight in Miami, Florida. But you're such a brand and
- 39:15Speaker 1: you're such a topical inspiration. And the fact that when
- 39:18Speaker 1: I'm talking to you, you seem so happy because you're
- 39:21Speaker 1: so happy because the variety that multiple streams of income
- 39:25Speaker 1: is surrounding your life. Did you see this coming? I
- 39:28Speaker 1: know your son, you know, I know him very well,
- 39:30Speaker 1: and he was always we can do more, we can
- 39:32Speaker 1: do more, And to see it coming into fruition, What
- 39:35Speaker 1: are your thoughts on that? Patty? My thoughts would be
- 39:38Speaker 1: on that that it should have happened because my it's quality,
- 39:43Speaker 1: you know. And then I knew too that being the
- 39:45Speaker 1: black woman who wouldn't be accepted as quickly as maybe
- 39:49Speaker 1: Betty Crocker or Paula Dean or anything. So they worked
- 39:53Speaker 1: so hard and I worked for her and perfecting the
- 39:56Speaker 1: recipes for the island, that I knew it had to
- 39:59Speaker 1: do something because I'm know it's great, not good. It's great.
- 40:03Speaker 1: And I can't put my name on anything. I know
- 40:05Speaker 1: you can't. I know that's absolutely true. And I'm gonna
- 40:08Speaker 1: just tell everybody before you in this interview about you
- 40:10Speaker 1: as an individual. And I mentioned it earlier in my
- 40:13Speaker 1: intro Dad when I launched Money Making Conversation. You know,
- 40:18Speaker 1: there's a lot of friendship. A lot of people say
- 40:19Speaker 1: you called rashaan show and you called me. And at
- 40:22Speaker 1: the time, you know, I just had one station in Houston, Texas,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and you trusted the instincts of supporting me. And I'm
- 40:29Speaker 1: just gonna let you know now you know um on
- 40:31Speaker 1: my Heart Radio podcast, I get two and fifty thousand
- 40:34Speaker 1: download today. I'm on Serious XM Channel one for the
- 40:38Speaker 1: one that's h y Artist Howard University. I'm on Serious
- 40:41Speaker 1: Channel XM. That's Channel one for the two that's all
- 40:44Speaker 1: HBCU campuses. I have a fan club over two two thousand.
- 40:49Speaker 1: I have almost a million social media followers, and I'm
- 40:51Speaker 1: gonna just tell you that a lot of it was
- 40:53Speaker 1: due to the fact that you you branded me, Mrs Labell.
- 40:58Speaker 1: You branded me and you warded me. And I want
- 41:01Speaker 1: to say thank you. On this day, my mom is
- 41:03Speaker 1: living today and you're my mom right now, Miss LaBelle,
- 41:07Speaker 1: thanks you for supporting me. Okay when ye later, thank
- 41:10Speaker 1: you and you're worthy of everything that's coming to you
- 41:13Speaker 1: and that world continue to come and uh and and
- 41:15Speaker 1: you know I'm gonna keep it supporting those pies. And
- 41:17Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell everybody just go to this, go your website,
- 41:20Speaker 1: pad Labell dot com. You want to be on be
- 41:22Speaker 1: on the show. Then she doesn't do just celebrities. You
- 41:25Speaker 1: keep winning, You have anything else you want to say?
- 41:28Speaker 1: No is this holler at me everyone who wants to
- 41:30Speaker 1: be And just thank you for all the support that
- 41:32Speaker 1: I've gotten for the last fifty four years. People who
- 41:36Speaker 1: like Patty Abell and I I don't think it for
- 41:39Speaker 1: so thank you so much. I appreciate you cool and

- 44:38Speaker 1: the World Series. He's the coach, philanthropists and father. Please
- 44:41Speaker 1: welcome the money making conversations. Deon Sanders, Rishawan Rishad. We
- 44:48Speaker 1: finally owned together. Man, I'm saying something. This is great
- 44:53Speaker 1: for you to say that because Dion is a special
- 44:55Speaker 1: person to me, and you know, our relationship, as you
- 44:58Speaker 1: unique in itself because he's a natural motivator. That's why
- 45:01Speaker 1: this is a relationship. We've been knowing each other about
- 45:04Speaker 1: fifteen or fifteen years for sure, and you know, I've
- 45:07Speaker 1: always been inspired by his natural gifts. Why are you
- 45:10Speaker 1: just such a natural motivator? Dion? And I think it's
- 45:15Speaker 1: something that I saw as a child. I saw a
- 45:19Speaker 1: mother who worked tireless just so ends could see one
- 45:24Speaker 1: another because they never met. I saw a father that
- 45:28Speaker 1: struggled with drug addiction, stepfather that struggled with alcoholism. I
- 45:32Speaker 1: saw an inner city that I was in golfing that
- 45:35Speaker 1: I lived in, and then I reside of it and
- 45:37Speaker 1: that was headed nowhere in no direction. And something inside
- 45:41Speaker 1: of me said, you could take a little bit of
- 45:43Speaker 1: this from your mama. You can take a little bit
- 45:45Speaker 1: of that from this. You can take a little bit
- 45:46Speaker 1: of that and be whatever you want to be. And
- 45:49Speaker 1: no one can stop you if you focus and put
- 45:51Speaker 1: your mind to it. No one can stop you if
- 45:54Speaker 1: you don't quit. And that was the formula. Now, but
- 45:57Speaker 1: you know, but you, but you you You describe a
- 46:01Speaker 1: background or an environment where there are nothing but roll
- 46:05Speaker 1: blocks in life. But you have this natural I can
- 46:09Speaker 1: win personality. The you know that that I'm sure. And
- 46:15Speaker 1: I see things different, like like I'm a football coach.
- 46:18Speaker 1: In some days it range and the first thing I
- 46:21Speaker 1: do that the coaches say, well, Prima, it may rain.
- 46:24Speaker 1: The day was a percentage. They say, well, it's a
- 46:26Speaker 1: forty chances gonna rain. I say what that means, It's
- 46:29Speaker 1: a sicky percent chance it ain't. That's just the way
- 46:31Speaker 1: I look at that. I just always look at the
- 46:34Speaker 1: positive and everything. The negative is easy to see, it's
- 46:39Speaker 1: easy to realize, it's easy to take a stance with it.
- 46:41Speaker 1: But the positive is something that people overlooked. We we
- 46:45Speaker 1: always think about what we don't have instead of thinking
- 46:47Speaker 1: about what we do. Because here's the thing about them,
- 46:51Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, we must be like in
- 46:54Speaker 1: this moon b circle or whatever. I'm down or something,
- 46:57Speaker 1: and I'm one of those guys who stay up all
- 46:59Speaker 1: the time. I can always get a text from you.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Keep your head up, brother. You know the blessings are
- 47:06Speaker 1: gonna come your way now. I know you just don't
- 47:09Speaker 1: do it for me, but you still take the time
- 47:12Speaker 1: to remind your friends there's always a brighter day. That's amazing.
- 47:17Speaker 1: I have a text list of a couple hundred people
- 47:20Speaker 1: that they've been getting my texts over twenty years every morning,
- 47:25Speaker 1: um between certain hours now I'm off on weekend, but
- 47:29Speaker 1: money through Friday. They get it like like for instance,
- 47:33Speaker 1: this morning and said, get yourself together and do what
- 47:35Speaker 1: you know you need to do and be what you
- 47:37Speaker 1: desire to be. Trim the fat off your life right now.
- 47:40Speaker 1: It's holding you back and you know it truth, just
- 47:44Speaker 1: a simple that's the first thing to hit my spirit
- 47:46Speaker 1: when I woke up this morning and I put it
- 47:49Speaker 1: out and I guess what, and it's received. And and
- 47:53Speaker 1: the thing about it is that Dion has always known
- 47:56Speaker 1: me because yeah, I see him as a talented, handsome
- 47:59Speaker 1: or articular entertaining guy, and but he always puts family
- 48:04Speaker 1: first and kids first. When I said kids, I'm talking
- 48:07Speaker 1: about his youth program, his educational program. Because I would
- 48:10Speaker 1: tell him, Man, let's go to l A do a sitcom,
- 48:12Speaker 1: let's go to l A do a talk show, Let's
- 48:14Speaker 1: go to New York. He said, Shan, you do. Just
- 48:17Speaker 1: talk to him one day. You know what. We've had
- 48:21Speaker 1: some real conversations like that too. Man. It's like from
- 48:24Speaker 1: you can do this. They're like, okay, but but can
- 48:25Speaker 1: they shoot him in Dallas? Because I'm telling you that
- 48:29Speaker 1: that's you. You're exactly right. You're you're not lying. But well,
- 48:33Speaker 1: first of all, you don't lie anyway, but by any means,
- 48:35Speaker 1: you are telling the truth. Because I understand what my
- 48:39Speaker 1: purpose is tied to my passion. You know, if I'm
- 48:42Speaker 1: not passionate about it, it cannot be my purpose. And
- 48:46Speaker 1: God blesses what I'm passionate about some things I want
- 48:50Speaker 1: to do, but it ain't me. I would love to
- 48:52Speaker 1: do it, but it ain't me. And you got to
- 48:54Speaker 1: decipher in your life between what you are are you
- 48:57Speaker 1: really passionate about and God with blessing or things that
- 48:59Speaker 1: you want to do. It just like decided between needs.
- 49:02Speaker 1: And once, once upon a time, I used to go
- 49:05Speaker 1: and get whatever I wanted because I had you know,
- 49:08Speaker 1: that type of cash, and you can get whatever you wanted.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Now it's all about your needs. You still have the resources,
- 49:13Speaker 1: I still have the financials, but now more importantly focused
- 49:17Speaker 1: on my needs not right right right, and and your
- 49:19Speaker 1: and your family too and what they can do and
- 49:21Speaker 1: what they and the legacy and that. But I want
- 49:24Speaker 1: to tell everybody about that. You know, we laugh about it,
- 49:27Speaker 1: but I just want to let everybody and know it's
- 49:29Speaker 1: something about what's important to not only you, but the
- 49:33Speaker 1: people that you impact along the way. And that's important
- 49:37Speaker 1: to you because like I said, like you said, you
- 49:39Speaker 1: know you've done You've been an incredible baseball player and
- 49:44Speaker 1: incredible football player or entertainer in the in the music industry,
- 49:48Speaker 1: you acted, you you've done all these things, but it
- 49:51Speaker 1: all came back to what you can do for the
- 49:53Speaker 1: next person, and you have turned down millions my friends
- 49:57Speaker 1: call my millions of oppor you're not saying that's negative
- 50:01Speaker 1: because you felt that there was a opportunity to change lives.
- 50:06Speaker 1: Part of my piece, it's part of my purpose, ties
- 50:10Speaker 1: me to my peace. So when I'm acting in my purpose, now,
- 50:13Speaker 1: I activate my piece. Perfect example, Um, I bought some
- 50:16Speaker 1: property in Canton, Texas, which is about five minutes. I
- 50:19Speaker 1: said a Dallas. I absolutely adored my girl Tracy, who
- 50:22Speaker 1: you've had on your show, and she loves you to life.
- 50:24Speaker 1: She absolutely our doors and that's where we're building. We
- 50:28Speaker 1: called a conclusion out not at home, but it's the
- 50:30Speaker 1: conclusion the end of the road for that. That's what
- 50:33Speaker 1: we're gonna end up. And we had a bath. Look
- 50:36Speaker 1: like though, that's what's making me mad, don't well, We're
- 50:40Speaker 1: were trying to. We had a high school baseball game
- 50:42Speaker 1: and I took most members of the team to this
- 50:44Speaker 1: piece of property that I own in nine acre late
- 50:47Speaker 1: I mean acreage, and I'm sitting up there with the
- 50:49Speaker 1: guys in a circle and I'm teaching them about life
- 50:52Speaker 1: and property. I say, see, let me tell you something.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Somebody could go out there and buy a Rosewort's Phantom,
- 50:58Speaker 1: which is gonna be four hundred and fifty, may been
- 51:00Speaker 1: half a million dollars. Times you drive their car off
- 51:02Speaker 1: a lot of depreciates, and now that's what you're dealing with.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Then it's a new um card come out next year.
- 51:09Speaker 1: People want that. It's a new one. So your car
- 51:11Speaker 1: constantly depreciates. Now you about his property for the same cost,
- 51:16Speaker 1: and not only will it appreciate, but now you get
- 51:18Speaker 1: it to the point where I'm winning it down to
- 51:20Speaker 1: my son. Right then he's keeping it in the family
- 51:23Speaker 1: for his sons. It constantly appreciates and you can enjoy
- 51:26Speaker 1: it year after year after year. It just teaching them
- 51:30Speaker 1: a little things like that that we don't think about,
- 51:32Speaker 1: and no one teaches us. And that's a big thing,
- 51:35Speaker 1: because you know, I was talking to a gentleman in
- 51:37Speaker 1: Houston and he's throwing a documentary on black farmers how
- 51:40Speaker 1: they're losing their land because the younger generation they see
- 51:43Speaker 1: the land as they don't see the value in the
- 51:45Speaker 1: land and they just sell it. And so Black farmers
- 51:48Speaker 1: alluding their property. But that, as they always said, God's
- 51:51Speaker 1: not making more earth Okay, he's not making more land.
- 51:56Speaker 1: We'll see. That's why. That's why I love you, my brother,
- 51:58Speaker 1: because I mean, and you downplay it because you're a
- 52:00Speaker 1: humble person. But the times that I've called you for
- 52:03Speaker 1: advice or the next move for a career, I mean,
- 52:06Speaker 1: you're looking at it as you're looking at it as
- 52:11Speaker 1: a person who's been there, done that, a person who
- 52:13Speaker 1: is not just looking at his own come up, but
- 52:16Speaker 1: looking at me and saying, Okay, for you, this is
- 52:19Speaker 1: what's best for you. But we can talk about those
- 52:22Speaker 1: type of things because we have that type of relationship.
- 52:24Speaker 1: But oftentimes men men of color and men of status,
- 52:27Speaker 1: we never even conversate with each other because we're so
- 52:29Speaker 1: busy competing. That's true, and that's ignorant. That's true. You've
- 52:32Speaker 1: never been that way, and I appreciate you for it,
- 52:34Speaker 1: and can I be? Can I be? And that's why
- 52:37Speaker 1: because because a person like you, who I followed your
- 52:40Speaker 1: entire career. And before we go to the next breaker,
- 52:42Speaker 1: I want to talk about how did you Because you see,
- 52:45Speaker 1: Brandon is the word just thrown around by everybody. Everybody
- 52:48Speaker 1: got a brand, everybody said there are a brand, But
- 52:51Speaker 1: prior time, how did you figure it out, because man,
- 52:55Speaker 1: you're a legend. Dude, your a legend. I look at
- 52:57Speaker 1: the NFL combines, I look at these players, call all
- 53:00Speaker 1: you on Sunday nights on your show. They all know
- 53:03Speaker 1: who you are, and that means that you're very relevant
- 53:06Speaker 1: to the modern day player. And a lot of players
- 53:09Speaker 1: can't do that, they can't feel how they can just
- 53:12Speaker 1: still be themselves and relatable. But prime time, the branding
- 53:16Speaker 1: machine is very relatable. Why well, First and foremost, I
- 53:21Speaker 1: think people are crazy and they understand that it's not October,
- 53:26Speaker 1: it ain't Halloween. They know who's trick or tree nine days,
- 53:29Speaker 1: and they know what's real. They know it's any way,
- 53:31Speaker 1: and they know when I talked to them, when I
- 53:33Speaker 1: articulate myself to them, it's no motives. There's nothing behind
- 53:37Speaker 1: the curtains that I'm trying to get gardens from them
- 53:39Speaker 1: because I have means and I have ways. But this
- 53:42Speaker 1: is all started in college. Man, I played the position
- 53:45Speaker 1: that wasn't handsomely plaid, and I forfeited the opportunity to
- 53:49Speaker 1: played professional baseball out of high school because I rolled
- 53:52Speaker 1: the dice on myself. That's something that I don't bet
- 53:54Speaker 1: in Vegas. But I'm gonna bet on Prime um all
- 53:57Speaker 1: day long. And that's why I love about the whole
- 53:59Speaker 1: to bring you on the show, because people need to
- 54:01Speaker 1: see so many layers and so many layers of individual
- 54:04Speaker 1: like you as an entertainer. You know, and you're so
- 54:06Speaker 1: you're so relevant and you're so current. But I just
- 54:09Speaker 1: looked Prime five. It's who he is. And I'm just
- 54:14Speaker 1: telling you, guys, is that is that he knows me?
- 54:17Speaker 1: Every every couple of years, I let's go do a
- 54:19Speaker 1: television show. He go shot, Uh, We're gonna tape the
- 54:22Speaker 1: show at and Dallas is your home. And you're giving
- 54:26Speaker 1: back and and and and I you know, and and
- 54:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep coming because you want to you want
- 54:31Speaker 1: to endless people, endless people ready, because he can cook,
- 54:38Speaker 1: can cool it, he can dance, he can wrap. You know,
- 54:42Speaker 1: he has an endless you know, one of those black
- 54:44Speaker 1: don't crack people, you know what I'm saying. And now
- 54:46Speaker 1: now he's with Tracy, so both of us should be
- 54:48Speaker 1: on the talk show together. So I'm just putting the
- 54:51Speaker 1: world out there because I'm gonna tell Tracy, Tracy, I'm coming.
- 54:53Speaker 1: I'm coming for you. And d you need to stop
- 54:57Speaker 1: putting all that old, good looking food on the the medium. Man.
- 55:00Speaker 1: I'm trying to stay fine, I'm trying to stay fit.
- 55:03Speaker 1: And every time I look at one of those pictures
- 55:05Speaker 1: that you have cooked up something, Benny Croker got none
- 55:08Speaker 1: on you. You gotta stop. Man. This is what we're
- 55:12Speaker 1: gonna do. Man, This we're gonna do. Man, We're gonna
- 55:14Speaker 1: go to the NFL network. Me and you gonna do
- 55:16Speaker 1: a cooking and baking show. Look at the NFL Network
- 55:19Speaker 1: because all these football players can cook and bake, and
- 55:22Speaker 1: we're gonna go from city to city and take a show,
- 55:24Speaker 1: me and you hosting. Brother, You're gonna be cooking and
- 55:27Speaker 1: barbecue and i'ma be baking. That's what we're gonna do
- 55:29Speaker 1: for NFL Network. I'm gonna be eating everything you cook
- 55:32Speaker 1: that we do. That we're gonna do it a d
- 55:36Speaker 1: Thank you for coming on the show, man, tell Tracy,
- 55:39Speaker 1: but you know I feel about you, man, that one
- 55:42Speaker 1: at all time. Great Dion Sanders. Money Making Conversations continues
