- 0:01Speaker 1: Surrender. Joe Biden stabs Israel in the back. Anthony Blincoln
- 0:06Speaker 1: scolds Israel in its quote lack of credit they say
- 0:11Speaker 1: to defeat Hamas early on, This is not a joke.
- 0:15Speaker 1: The US Secretary of State Anthony Blincoln apparently told Israel
- 0:18Speaker 1: that it lacks credit to conduct the kind of military
- 0:21Speaker 1: campaign necessary to defeat Hamas, saying that the Biden administration
- 0:24Speaker 1: would not tolerate, well, not tolerate this. United States of
- 0:28Speaker 1: America would not tolerate large scale bombing over months in
- 0:32Speaker 1: southern Gaza. B Lincoln's remarks were leaked to the Israeli press.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Times of Israel quoted a transcript of his meeting with
- 0:40Speaker 1: the Israeli War cabinet. B Lincoln said this, apparently, you
- 0:44Speaker 1: can't operate in southern Gaza the way you did in
- 0:46Speaker 1: the north.
- 0:48Speaker 2: There are two million Palestinians there.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You need to evacuate fewer people from their homes, be
- 0:52Speaker 1: more accurate in the attack, not hit un facilities, and
- 0:57Speaker 1: ensure that there are enough protected areas for civilians, and
- 1:01Speaker 1: if not, then not to attack where there is a
- 1:04Speaker 1: civilian population. What is your system of operation? Blincoln then
- 1:09Speaker 1: asked the follow up from the IDF chief was, we
- 1:12Speaker 1: follow a number of principles, proportionality, distinction, and the laws
- 1:17Speaker 1: of war. There were instances where we attacked on the
- 1:21Speaker 1: basis of those principles, and instances where we decided not
- 1:25Speaker 1: to attack because we waited for a better opportunity. Then
- 1:29Speaker 1: the Defense Minister said, the entire Israeli society is united
- 1:32Speaker 1: behind the goal of dismantling Hamas, even if it takes months.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Blincoln then said, I don't think you have to have
- 1:38Speaker 1: the credit for that.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Anthony Blincoln, normally a weak figure in public, issued as
- 1:44Speaker 1: tough ultimatums in private bring the contradictions in US policy
- 1:49Speaker 1: to a head.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Earlier this week, White House.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Ncial Security spokesman John Kirby said this quote, we don't
- 1:55Speaker 1: support these Southern operations unless or until the Israeli can
- 2:00Speaker 1: show that they've accounted for all the internally displaced people
- 2:04Speaker 1: of Gaza. He added that Israel had the right and
- 2:07Speaker 1: responsibility to eliminate Hamas, though he did not explain how
- 2:12Speaker 1: these two priorities could be reconciled.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Quote.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It was not clear what Blincoln meant by credit, whether
- 2:20Speaker 1: financial credit from the US or a political credibility on
- 2:23Speaker 1: the world stage. Israel has been saying for weeks that
- 2:26Speaker 1: it expected the fight to destroy Hamas to take months
- 2:29Speaker 1: and perhaps a year. A shorter fight would require more
- 2:33Speaker 1: drastic military measures at odds with a careful approach, Israel
- 2:37Speaker 1: has taken in an effort to avoid civilian casualties where possible.
- 2:41Speaker 1: The administration faces pressure from staff and left wing extremists,
- 2:45Speaker 1: socialists and communist voters in the Democratic Party to shift
- 2:49Speaker 1: away from Israel. So now we know what they're saying
- 2:52Speaker 1: behind the scenes, and it does not match up with
- 2:56Speaker 1: what they are saying to the American people. Shocker House
- 3:00Speaker 1: basically is now lying to you when it comes to
- 3:04Speaker 1: the Israeli policy, and Anthony Blincoln is the chief in
- 3:07Speaker 1: charge of that lie. Now you look at all of
- 3:10Speaker 1: this and you think about what happens here, it is disgusting.
- 3:16Speaker 1: There's also a problem here with the package to Israel,
- 3:20Speaker 1: all right, and this package of what is what Israel
- 3:23Speaker 1: is going to get from the United States of America.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Joe Scarborough this morning saying, now, who is bringing in
- 3:29Speaker 1: right wing religious zelots who know nothing about defending Israel
- 3:34Speaker 1: now attacking him and his cabinet, saying that Israel is
- 3:38Speaker 1: somehow a radicalized nation. These are the people that just
- 3:41Speaker 1: got attacked by an actual group of radicalized people in
- 3:44Speaker 1: Hamas who are yelling a la akbar CNN also said
- 3:49Speaker 1: the IDF has intercepted one rocket coming from the Gaza Strip.
- 3:53Speaker 1: That happening this morning. Here's the latest on that.
- 3:56Speaker 2: What happens next?
- 3:58Speaker 3: The IDF saying that Israel has intercepted one rocket that
- 4:02Speaker 3: was launched from the Gaza Strip. Jerimie now seen in chief,
- 4:06Speaker 3: National security correspondent Alex Marquad and foreign policy analyst Barak Revide. Alex,
- 4:12Speaker 3: first of all, as we're talking about this and wondering
- 4:14Speaker 3: when the truth will end and if it will, and
- 4:16Speaker 3: what might happen fifty nine minutes from now or so,
- 4:20Speaker 3: what are we learning right now?
- 4:21Speaker 4: Well, a troubling development for this extremely fragile pause that
- 4:25Speaker 4: has been in place for the past seven days. We've
- 4:28Speaker 4: been waiting all day to hear whether Hamas would present
- 4:31Speaker 4: Israel with another list of hostages. They planned to at
- 4:33Speaker 4: least tomorrow. Instead, what we are seeing, what we are hearing,
- 4:36Speaker 4: and what we are learning, is that Israel has now
- 4:40Speaker 4: intercepted one rocket that was fired recently, just moments ago
- 4:44Speaker 4: from the Gaza Strip. It was intercepted by Israel's aerial defense.
- 4:49Speaker 4: We've also heard sirens or sirens have been heard in Steroitz,
- 4:53Speaker 4: that is in southern Israel, right near the Gaza Strip.
- 4:56Speaker 4: So we had been waiting to see whether there was
- 4:59Speaker 4: news from any of the parties involved about this hostage
- 5:04Speaker 4: you'd deal for tomorrow. I should note not to downplay it,
- 5:07Speaker 4: but this is one rocket. We have in the past
- 5:10Speaker 4: seen barrages of rockets, so it's really hard to say.
- 5:14Speaker 1: By the way, I love this here, right, he says, Well,
- 5:16Speaker 1: not to downplay it, but it's just one rocket. I mean,
- 5:18Speaker 1: you know, it's just one rocket that could kill, if
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know, a bunch of people in an apartment building,
- 5:22Speaker 1: or hit a school, or kill innocent people walking street.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It's just one rocket. You understand what CNN just advocated for.
- 5:29Speaker 1: They just advocated for not taking out a Hamas. As
- 5:32Speaker 1: long as Hamas doesn't shoot a barrage of rockets. They
- 5:35Speaker 1: can just shoot like one at a time all day long.
- 5:37Speaker 1: And you're just supposed to live in that world. I
- 5:40Speaker 1: want you to imagine being in your house. It's the
- 5:42Speaker 1: best way I know to describe it. Okay, and one
- 5:46Speaker 1: rocket just one, just one rocket, or you know, let's
- 5:49Speaker 1: change that. Let's just say that every day someone drives
- 5:51Speaker 1: by your house and just shoots one bullet at your house,
- 5:54Speaker 1: just one. Well it's only one bullet, right, You're sitting
- 5:57Speaker 1: there having your breakfast, and then someone takes a pop
- 5:59Speaker 1: shot at your house, just one bullet. Would you put
- 6:02Speaker 1: up with that crap? Would you sit there and honestly
- 6:06Speaker 1: put up with that? I think most people would say no,
- 6:09Speaker 1: they would not put up with that. That is exactly
- 6:12Speaker 1: now with the White House and what CNN are saying
- 6:15Speaker 1: you should do. As long as it's a lot of rockets, right,
- 6:18Speaker 1: let's put in perspective here, it's just one person shooting
- 6:20Speaker 1: at you, one rocket shooting at you at a time,
- 6:23Speaker 1: so it's not that big of a deal. Again, listen
- 6:25Speaker 1: to this logic of CNN.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Had been waiting to see whether there was news from
- 6:30Speaker 4: any of the parties involved about this hostage you deal
- 6:34Speaker 4: for tomorrow. I should note not the downplay it, but
- 6:37Speaker 4: this is one rocket. We have in the past seen
- 6:40Speaker 4: barrages of rockets, so it's really hard to say what
- 6:43Speaker 4: is going on here. But we have been pressing our sources.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I know Barack Ravit is doing the same thing, trying
- 6:48Speaker 4: to reach out to the Kataris, the Egyptians who've been
- 6:51Speaker 4: mediating with Hamas, the US, who of course have been
- 6:54Speaker 4: central to this deal, and then Israel as well, to
- 6:57Speaker 4: find out whether they expect this pause to go.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Into an eighth day.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Now.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Last night it looked like things were on the rocks
- 7:05Speaker 4: as well. There were several lists Winnderstand that were put
- 7:07Speaker 4: forward to the Israelis that were rejected because they did
- 7:10Speaker 4: not have enough women and children alive on them. At
- 7:14Speaker 4: the end, at the very last minute, excuse me, right
- 7:16Speaker 4: before the clock struck twelve Eastern time, which it's about
- 7:20Speaker 4: two and fifty six minutes from now and seven o'clock
- 7:22Speaker 4: in the morning in Israel, there was a list that
- 7:24Speaker 4: was accepted. Eight hostages were released today. There had been
- 7:28Speaker 4: two released the day prior, for a total of ten.
- 7:31Speaker 4: So there is still a chance that Hamas comes through
- 7:34Speaker 4: in the next fifty five minutes with a list that
- 7:36Speaker 4: is acceptable to Israel, but there is also a decent
- 7:39Speaker 4: chance that they don't, at which point Israel has warned
- 7:42Speaker 4: that the fighting would start immediately between Israel and Hamas.
- 7:47Speaker 4: In the Gaza strip, Laura.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I mean, Brock, you've been working your sources as well
- 7:50Speaker 3: and seeing this.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I mean, this is what you're dealing with now. They
- 7:55Speaker 2: have just moved the goalpost.
- 7:56Speaker 1: That is somehow acceptable behavior to shoot one rocket at
- 8:01Speaker 1: a time, That that is an acceptable number of rockets
- 8:06Speaker 1: that the Israeli people should just live with. Hey, welcome
- 8:09Speaker 1: to your new neighborhood. Right, imagine buying a house. Now, Look,
- 8:11Speaker 1: every every other day, every couple of days, there's a
- 8:14Speaker 1: rocket that's gonna be shot your neighborhood.
- 8:15Speaker 2: But it's just one rocket. It's just one. It's just
- 8:18Speaker 2: one rocket.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And then and then a few days later, another rocket,
- 8:22Speaker 1: just one will come at your neighborhood. But it's totally fine.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So enjoy your neighborhood, right, enjoy it, have a great time.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Would you put up with that? Would you buy that,
- 8:31Speaker 1: have them? Would you live in that in that scenario?
- 8:33Speaker 1: I wouldn't. There's a reason why I don't trust them.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And this is the reason why why would you ever
- 8:40Speaker 1: trust terrasts and those that support terrats, those that advocate
- 8:44Speaker 1: for terrists, those that defend terras. There's no reason I'd
- 8:49Speaker 1: have spokesman said this this morning on CNN as well
- 8:53Speaker 1: before we conduct any sort of activities in US has
- 8:55Speaker 1: already fired rockets from southern Guyza this morning, confirming what
- 8:59Speaker 1: was just said.
- 9:00Speaker 6: Cannot be repeated in the South. Joining US now, IDs
- 9:04Speaker 6: spokesman the Senate.
- 9:05Speaker 7: Colonel Peter Lerner.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Then, Colonel, we appreciate your time this morning. With what
- 9:09Speaker 6: we're seeing right now, should it be characterized that operations
- 9:13Speaker 6: in the South are officially underway?
- 9:16Speaker 7: Good morning, Phil.
- 9:16Speaker 8: Yes.
- 9:17Speaker 7: Indeed, since Hamas decided to cancel the ceasefire by not
- 9:23Speaker 7: releasing women and children, we have been instructed to engage
- 9:29Speaker 7: before we conducted any sort of activities. Hamas had already
- 9:33Speaker 7: fired rockets from southern Gaza before six am this morning
- 9:37Speaker 7: here in Israel. They had been firing and they have
- 9:39Speaker 7: been firing throughout the day at Israel. So yes, we
- 9:42Speaker 7: are engaging. We are seeking out Hamas wherever they are.
- 9:46Speaker 7: We are evacuating people from specific areas that we intend
- 9:51Speaker 7: on operating on. This is the nature of warfare.
- 9:54Speaker 6: On your last point, there have been leaflets that have
- 9:57Speaker 6: been dropped with a QR code. That code leads to
- 9:59Speaker 6: you also put out a statement in multiple languages. It
- 10:02Speaker 6: has a civilian evacuation map.
- 10:04Speaker 7: I think we can bring it up.
- 10:05Speaker 6: If we have it, but it basically is numbered zones.
- 10:07Speaker 6: It's kind of parceled out throughout that area.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Two questions.
- 10:12Speaker 6: One, Internet connectivity has been a problem at various points
- 10:15Speaker 6: throughout Gaza. Does that concern you for people actually knowing
- 10:18Speaker 6: their zones? And second, how are people supposed to understand
- 10:21Speaker 6: what this means?
- 10:22Speaker 7: But of course, if you zoom in on that map,
- 10:24Speaker 7: if you live in a specific location, you'll know where
- 10:27Speaker 7: you live and you'll know if you're being told to
- 10:29Speaker 7: evacuate from one point to another that you should take
- 10:32Speaker 7: that advice. Now, this is precisely the idea of getting
- 10:35Speaker 7: people out of harm's way. So if you know that
- 10:38Speaker 7: there is going to be an IDF operation in your area,
- 10:43Speaker 7: you should try and evacuate if you're not a Hamas terrorist.
- 10:45Speaker 7: This is precisely the efforts that we are going to
- 10:48Speaker 7: in order to try and alleviate the difficulties the challenges
- 10:53Speaker 7: that the civilians of Gaza are facing following the war,
- 10:56Speaker 7: a war that Israel didn't ask for, a war that
- 10:59Speaker 7: Hamas opened and launched on the seventh of October, brutally massacrering, murdering, butchering, beheading,
- 11:06Speaker 7: and raping and abducting so many Israelis on that rutal,
- 11:11Speaker 7: horrific day. So we are now at war with Hamas.
- 11:15Speaker 7: We have resumed our activities this morning, and we are
- 11:18Speaker 7: continuing to operate within the guidelines of the laws of
- 11:21Speaker 7: armed conflict with distinguishing between civilians, non combatants and Hamas.
- 11:27Speaker 6: This has been a significant element of discussions between US
- 11:30Speaker 6: officials and the counterparts in your government.
- 11:33Speaker 2: There's my question, based on what you're out let me
- 11:36Speaker 2: just go back to this.
- 11:38Speaker 1: Hamas is a terrorist organization, get carried out a nine
- 11:42Speaker 1: to eleven style attack, and now this morning we find
- 11:46Speaker 1: out that the White House is telling Israel you better
- 11:49Speaker 1: back down to that terrorist organization.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Can we just let that set in real quick?
- 11:55Speaker 1: I mean seriously, can we just I mean just just
- 11:59Speaker 1: think about that real quick. Joe Scarborough said this about
- 12:03Speaker 1: again slandering Israel this morning. Net Ya, who's bringing the
- 12:07Speaker 1: right wing religious zelots into his cabinet? So therefore I
- 12:10Speaker 1: guess they had another reason to abandon him, right absolutely.
- 12:14Speaker 8: So what this says to me is the United States
- 12:17Speaker 8: has a special responsibility the blink, and our Secretary of
- 12:20Speaker 8: State is trying to exercise now to express tough, love,
- 12:24Speaker 8: to be firm, not to let mistakes deepen. You know,
- 12:29Speaker 8: we made mistakes before nine to eleven. We didn't see
- 12:32Speaker 8: it coming, just as Israel made mistakes before October seven.
- 12:36Speaker 8: They didn't see it coming. And we made mistakes after
- 12:39Speaker 8: we overreacted. We did the wrong things. You know, we
- 12:43Speaker 8: created more enemies than we were killing. That seems to
- 12:46Speaker 8: be happening now. So I think part of what Blincoln
- 12:49Speaker 8: wants to say is we see the mistakes you made before,
- 12:52Speaker 8: but it's the mistakes you're making now that we want
- 12:55Speaker 8: to prevent.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Don't overreact, don't do what we did.
- 12:58Speaker 8: That was Biden's mess is when he went there. I'm
- 13:00Speaker 8: sure that Blinkin is saying it again, you know, but
- 13:05Speaker 8: so you know when you say they, I just want
- 13:10Speaker 8: to say one final thing. In Israel, I met some
- 13:13Speaker 8: outstanding military commanders. You know, they look like Inspector Cluz
- 13:17Speaker 8: in this report. But don't forget as in the US military,
- 13:21Speaker 8: these are people, very high quality, who are going to
- 13:24Speaker 8: lead Israel out of this mess.
- 13:26Speaker 9: And David, for a year, though David put context to this,
- 13:30Speaker 9: for a year I was hearing from people in Israel,
- 13:36Speaker 9: from fearce defenders and Friends of Israel Net and Yahoo
- 13:42Speaker 9: is screwing up the cabinet. He's screwing up the military,
- 13:47Speaker 9: he's screwing up the Intel services. He's bringing in right
- 13:52Speaker 9: wing religious zealous who know nothing about defending Israel.
- 13:57Speaker 4: It's not talking about the military leaders.
- 13:58Speaker 8: You were well, no, no, David, those guys are still those,
- 14:03Speaker 8: those men and women are still there, right, They were
- 14:06Speaker 8: just pushed to the side.
- 14:07Speaker 2: They were Yaho. Think of the woman who.
- 14:11Speaker 8: Kept saying, tells us this is real, this is real.
- 14:15Speaker 2: They're coming.
- 14:16Speaker 8: That woman is still there doing her job.
- 14:18Speaker 10: I mean, even since October seventh, these Radis have failed
- 14:21Speaker 10: to answer the questions what's happening in the West Bank?
- 14:24Speaker 10: Why have we got ourselves into a situation now where
- 14:26Speaker 10: har Mass's approval ratings are rising in the West Bank
- 14:29Speaker 10: because they are the only group that's managed to get
- 14:31Speaker 10: our prisoners released, because settlers are not being controlled in
- 14:34Speaker 10: the West Bank, and the number of attacks against Palestinians
- 14:37Speaker 10: is being picked up. There are things that the Israeli
- 14:40Speaker 10: government could be doing even now, and it's the American
- 14:43Speaker 10: government not having success in raining them in in the
- 14:47Speaker 10: West Bank. It doesn't seem so.
- 14:49Speaker 1: See, did you hear that last comment by hers where
- 14:52Speaker 1: she just said, Harmas is the only one that's been
- 14:55Speaker 1: successful at getting the hostages back. They're the people that
- 15:00Speaker 1: took the hostages, you idiot. They're now giving credit to
- 15:04Speaker 1: the actual hostage takers, saying that they're prove rating in
- 15:08Speaker 1: guys is going out because these people that took the
- 15:10Speaker 1: hostages are now giving some of the hostages back, and
- 15:16Speaker 1: they're saying that they're the good guys. Now the same
- 15:19Speaker 1: people that took them are now giving some of them back,
- 15:22Speaker 1: so they're the good guys.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Help us.
- 15:25Speaker 1: If this is the world that these liberals want us
- 15:27Speaker 1: to live in, God help us. Presidential debates they are
- 15:34Speaker 1: something that have become certainly a tradition in this country.
- 15:39Speaker 1: We have our leaders, while they're asking for the biggest jobs,
- 15:44Speaker 1: ask questions of each other and debate one another, and
- 15:49Speaker 1: that's part of how we decide who we think would
- 15:52Speaker 1: be the best for the job. Presidential debates are a tradition,
- 15:57Speaker 1: an historical tradition that is I think think one of
- 16:00Speaker 1: the best things about this country. I love that our
- 16:04Speaker 1: leaders we actually have these types of conversations. There's a
- 16:09Speaker 1: problem now, presidential debates may go away that is the
- 16:14Speaker 1: latest that we're now hearing presidential debates quote may not
- 16:18Speaker 1: happen in twenty twenty four. Here's how we can save
- 16:20Speaker 1: this valuable tradition. Coming from the Hill, the Commission on
- 16:24Speaker 1: Presidential Debates announced the forthcoming slate of debate sites for
- 16:27Speaker 1: presidential election season twenty twenty four. Since nineteen seventy six,
- 16:32Speaker 1: there have been consistent televised president of debates the United
- 16:36Speaker 1: States of America. Originally broadcasted and conducted by the League
- 16:40Speaker 1: of Women Voters, Commission on Presidential Debates took over the
- 16:44Speaker 1: sponsorship and organization of the debate in nineteen eighty seven.
- 16:48Speaker 1: The impending election raises the most serious doubts about whether
- 16:51Speaker 1: this televised debate series will even continue. There are a
- 16:55Speaker 1: lot of people say, ah, they you know, hey, it's
- 16:57Speaker 1: fun to watch, but is it really going to change
- 17:00Speaker 1: my mind? Maybe we don't need these, which brings me
- 17:03Speaker 1: back to the article. Both the Democratic National Committee and
- 17:07Speaker 1: the Republican National Committee have refused to commit to the
- 17:10Speaker 1: proposed debates of twenty twenty four that are being that
- 17:13Speaker 1: are to begin in San Marcus, Texas next October. Serious
- 17:18Speaker 1: problems in the last several c PD events may prevent
- 17:24Speaker 1: the necessary parties from agreeing to debates that are typically
- 17:27Speaker 1: viewed by fifty to one hundred million Americans. One of
- 17:32Speaker 1: the most serious problems faced by the CPD events is
- 17:38Speaker 1: the moderators Journalists. Moderators have been chosen for these debates
- 17:43Speaker 1: for decades. The problem with moderators are twofold. First, journalists
- 17:47Speaker 1: have come to occupy a prominent argument of position in
- 17:51Speaker 1: the debates, and by the way, that was never their intent.
- 17:54Speaker 1: In the nineteen nineties, journalists moderators would occupy roughly five
- 17:58Speaker 1: percent of the speaking time in debate. In the most
- 18:01Speaker 1: recent series, moderator Chris Wallace consume more than twenty five
- 18:05Speaker 1: percent of the speaking time. There are no established limits
- 18:11Speaker 1: for moderator monologues about politics to which candidates are expected
- 18:14Speaker 1: to respond. And there's a second problem. Journalists moderators indicate
- 18:20Speaker 1: a pattern of favoritism towards the Democratic nominee. Now this
- 18:23Speaker 1: is coming from the Hill, so I'm glad they're being
- 18:25Speaker 1: intellectually honest about this and saying that these journalists are
- 18:29Speaker 1: favoring the Democrats.
- 18:31Speaker 2: At times, the reactionary.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Behaviors of moderators have allowed democratic candidates to receive more
- 18:36Speaker 1: speaking time as they did in most debates prior to
- 18:40Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, or result in the removal of moderators who
- 18:45Speaker 1: actively coordinated hostile questions for the Republican candidate. Currently, the
- 18:51Speaker 1: RNC Publican National Committee requires that its ultimate nominee for
- 18:55Speaker 1: twenty twenty four refuse to cooperate with or at ten
- 19:00Speaker 1: and the CPD events in twenty twenty four. It is
- 19:05Speaker 1: important to make plans for solutions and even alternatives to
- 19:10Speaker 1: the proposals coming from these debate moderators. One of the
- 19:14Speaker 1: best solutions the Hill Rights for future debates would be
- 19:18Speaker 1: to remove journalists moderators to create a more authentic debate
- 19:22Speaker 1: event that features the candidates rather than a press conference
- 19:28Speaker 1: constrained by the narratives set by the American journalist community.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Non journalist moderators could simply identify topics with single words
- 19:36Speaker 1: like abortion, inflation, immigration, gaza, government spending, and allow the
- 19:44Speaker 1: extra time to be given to the candidates to explain
- 19:46Speaker 1: their views.
- 19:47Speaker 2: By the way, I love this idea.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Remember that in nineteen sixty Richard Nixon and John F.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Kennedy had eight minute opening remarks to make their case
- 19:58Speaker 1: to the public. Responds Times today or two minutes or less.
- 20:03Speaker 1: While journalists vigorously criticize such limited presentations as quote lacking contexts,
- 20:09Speaker 1: but they set them up to lack that context. It
- 20:13Speaker 1: is increasingly likely that journalists moderators will take more time
- 20:18Speaker 1: crafting the questions for a candate than the candate will have.
- 20:22Speaker 1: While answering cross examination conducted by debaters rather than moderators
- 20:27Speaker 1: as a common staple of many American debate formats used
- 20:31Speaker 1: by high school and college students. Utilizing this debate practice
- 20:35Speaker 1: and president debates would allow candidates to ask in a
- 20:38Speaker 1: limited time period, such as three minutes, questions of their opponent.
- 20:42Speaker 1: The venues for these debates could be vastly improved from
- 20:46Speaker 1: the current slate of college campuses. Is another thing that
- 20:49Speaker 1: was written in The Hill this morning. The first twenty
- 20:52Speaker 1: twenty four debate, which is typically the most watched debate,
- 20:56Speaker 1: is to take place at Texas State University. It would
- 20:59Speaker 1: be the first such debate in Texas in the history
- 21:01Speaker 1: of the series. Texas State is where Democratic President Lyndon B.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Johnson graduated, and as recent news reports indicated, Democrats were
- 21:11Speaker 1: successful in twenty twenty two and flipping key local voting
- 21:15Speaker 1: precincts from red to blue. The activism of San Marcus
- 21:19Speaker 1: and the university reverse a trend common to most of
- 21:22Speaker 1: South Texas in twenty twenty, where Hispanic voters are voting
- 21:26Speaker 1: in increasing numbers for Republicans. Instead of the highly partisan campuses,
- 21:32Speaker 1: debates could be conducted at more than a dozen presidential
- 21:36Speaker 1: sites maintained throughout the US. Those debates could lend Democrat
- 21:40Speaker 1: and Republican presidential locations such as LBJ and Reagan to
- 21:45Speaker 1: create a stronger bipartisan in pressing impression. There are many
- 21:50Speaker 1: more things that could be done to restore the credibility
- 21:52Speaker 1: improve the quality of president or debates. The article continues,
- 21:56Speaker 1: These are important steps that need to be considered in
- 21:59Speaker 1: probably acted upon if this important civic tradition is to
- 22:05Speaker 1: continue in twenty twenty four. The Commission on President's Debates
- 22:09Speaker 1: needs to help. Needs help to overcome its past miscues
- 22:13Speaker 1: and carrying out the presidential debates. Ben Vath, PhD is
- 22:18Speaker 1: a Professor of Rhetorican director of Debate and Speech at
- 22:21Speaker 1: SMU in Dallas. He's the editor of the American Forensic
- 22:24Speaker 1: Association's flagship journal for debate and speech. Coaches Argumentation and advocacy.
- 22:31Speaker 1: The author is also the co editor of the Lexingon
- 22:34Speaker 1: book series focusing upon political communication. He is the author
- 22:38Speaker 1: of several academic books and book chapters about debate. Now,
- 22:43Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more with the synopsis on this opinion piece,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and I agree that I think it's time for Republicans
- 22:52Speaker 1: to look.
- 22:53Speaker 2: And demand some changes here.
- 22:56Speaker 1: The question is, and if you've got fifty to one
- 22:59Speaker 1: hundred million people that watched the first debate, that's a lot. Okay,
- 23:03Speaker 1: fifty to one hundred is a lot if that's what
- 23:06Speaker 1: you are doing now. If you've fifty to one hundred
- 23:09Speaker 1: million people watch this first debate, Republicans, I think clearly
- 23:14Speaker 1: deserve a better deal, a more fair deal. I'm not
- 23:18Speaker 1: asking for them to have an advantage. I am asking
- 23:22Speaker 1: them for to get to get a better deal. Representative Santos,
- 23:28Speaker 1: Representative Santos. This morning, there's an expulsion vote. He just
- 23:32Speaker 1: said this on Fox News Channel about his future. Is
- 23:35Speaker 1: he going to be kicked out of the House of Representatives.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Here's what he had to say on Fox and Friends
- 23:39Speaker 1: a moment ago.
- 23:40Speaker 5: All right, and just so final thought, is you expect
- 23:43Speaker 5: to be expelled today?
- 23:45Speaker 11: Look like I said, I don't expect, but I do
- 23:46Speaker 11: believe they have the votes. Congressman Lolota said he had
- 23:49Speaker 11: one fifty. He walked it back to one twenty. Look,
- 23:51Speaker 11: one fifty, one twenty. The difference is they need about
- 23:54Speaker 11: seventy seven Republicans. If that's the numbers they're dwelling with,
- 23:57Speaker 11: I think they have it.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Well, you're Mike Congressman.
- 24:00Speaker 5: There's going to be a special election if you're expelled today,
- 24:02Speaker 5: and then we'll see then we got another election in November.
- 24:06Speaker 11: I hope you have a shot out of conservative Brian,
- 24:08Speaker 11: because you won't know what a conservative looks like on
- 24:10Speaker 11: Long Island once I'm gone.
- 24:11Speaker 5: Right, although the Long Island is pretty red. Congressman, thanks
- 24:15Speaker 5: so much, and Peter King did have that seat for
- 24:16Speaker 5: a long time. Congressman Santo's for now, best of luck,
- 24:20Speaker 5: Thank you, sir.
- 24:22Speaker 1: That'll probably be his last interview on Fox News Channel
- 24:25Speaker 1: Killmate also asking Representative Santos this.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Georgia as they roll through all the things you said
- 24:31Speaker 5: and everything about working at City Group, Goldman Sachs being Jewish?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Have you been doing this your whole life.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Just embellishing and making things up. Is this the first
- 24:41Speaker 5: time you've been forced to pay for.
- 24:43Speaker 2: This, Brian.
- 24:44Speaker 11: Look, I can go and rehash everything that I've said,
- 24:48Speaker 11: but it's been so wildly documented on all of the
- 24:51Speaker 11: questions you just asked, And the short answer is what
- 24:56Speaker 11: I have not said certain things, but I've done things differently. Absolutely,
- 24:59Speaker 11: I'm an adult and I'm sure enough to acknowledge that.
- 25:01Speaker 11: But to think that I've built my entire life based
- 25:03Speaker 11: on what the media is trying to package over the
- 25:05Speaker 11: last couple of months is not fair, It is not true,
- 25:08Speaker 11: and it is dishonest.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So I have a life.
- 25:11Speaker 11: I have people around me who've been in my life,
- 25:13Speaker 11: my entire life, who are appalled that what the media
- 25:15Speaker 11: has been doing. So I think that should tell you
- 25:18Speaker 11: enough of who I am and my character. You don't
- 25:20Speaker 11: think you brought this on yourself?
- 25:22Speaker 4: Oh?
- 25:22Speaker 11: Look, in some way, I think we all bring stuff
- 25:24Speaker 11: on ourselves.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:26Speaker 11: I just acknowledge I bear responsibility. But what has been
- 25:30Speaker 11: made out of mistakes that I've made in the past,
- 25:33Speaker 11: that I've admitted to on national television on this network
- 25:37Speaker 11: with Tulci Gaberd last December. I dare most members of
- 25:41Speaker 11: Congress have the same courage to come on here and
- 25:43Speaker 11: tell the entire American public on national television exactly what
- 25:47Speaker 11: I did, and own up to their shortcomings and be
- 25:49Speaker 11: humble and have the humility to do so.
- 25:53Speaker 1: By the way, I think this guy's a psycho path
- 25:55Speaker 1: I think he's a narcissist. On a whole nother level,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I think he's a path, a lot co liar. I
- 26:01Speaker 1: believe that he should be kicked out of Congress, and
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't want to keep a quote Republican in Congress
- 26:07Speaker 1: that does what Santos has done, and lied the way
- 26:10Speaker 1: he has and acted the way that he has.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I think they should expel him.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I want to be clear about that, because if we
- 26:17Speaker 1: don't police our own in this way, then we're no
- 26:21Speaker 1: different than the socialists and communists. On the Democratic side.
- 26:25Speaker 1: There are some that disagree with me saying, you know what,
- 26:27Speaker 1: we need to vote maybe on some issues, So just
- 26:29Speaker 1: leave him in there. There's going to be a special election,
- 26:33Speaker 1: and hopefully the people that voted in Santos will also say, Okay,
- 26:37Speaker 1: we are going to vote for another candidate that actually
- 26:39Speaker 1: has the values without the amount of lying in scumbaggery
- 26:43Speaker 1: that Santos has put into this seat. I would hope
- 26:47Speaker 1: they the citizens there look forward to getting rid of
- 26:51Speaker 1: someone that has lied to them so much about who
- 26:53Speaker 1: they are, lied about their career, lied on virtually every
- 26:58Speaker 1: aspect of their.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Resume.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I mean, I mean, this dude just lied on everything,
- 27:04Speaker 1: like on everything.
- 27:05Speaker 2: I want to make that clear.
- 27:07Speaker 1: There's nothing that this guy basically said about his life
- 27:10Speaker 1: and career to get elected that was truthful. This also
- 27:14Speaker 1: tells you where we are now a journalism, the lack
- 27:17Speaker 1: of journalistic integrity that we have. How are we allowing
- 27:21Speaker 1: people to get elected like Santos. I don't care if
- 27:24Speaker 1: you're a Republican or Democrat that has the backstory here
- 27:31Speaker 1: that he has. It could have easily been fact check.
- 27:35Speaker 1: But the media doesn't do their job anymore. The media
- 27:38Speaker 1: used to have a job, as I would describe it,
- 27:41Speaker 1: and their real job was to do the best they
- 27:44Speaker 1: can to look at what the claims are of a candidate,
- 27:49Speaker 1: and then when those claims are made, you fact check
- 27:53Speaker 1: them to see, hey, did he actually work at Goldman Sachs,
- 27:55Speaker 1: Did he actually do this?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Did he actually graduate from where he says he graduated from?
- 27:59Speaker 7: Me?
- 27:59Speaker 1: This is not hard to fact check. These are very
- 28:03Speaker 1: easy things to fact check. I would also say this
- 28:08Speaker 1: the Republican Party should also do a better job, not
- 28:12Speaker 1: just the media.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Right, How did this guy make it through a Republican primary?
- 28:16Speaker 1: How did this guy even get to the point where
- 28:19Speaker 1: people were voting for him in a general election? If
- 28:22Speaker 1: the Republican Party was doing their job, they would have
- 28:25Speaker 1: fact checked to make sure that we didn't have this
- 28:27Speaker 1: embarrassing moment. And we should be embarrassed by this. This
- 28:30Speaker 1: guy's a joke, a pathological liar. Finally, please share this
