- Todd: Welcome everyone to Beers with Jesus, Todd's World. β I'm Todd, Carrie's with me. Every week we get together and we we're just walking through the stories of the Bible. We do the wildly opinionated news hour that drops on Tuesdays, where we give our wild opinions about the news of the day, go through clips, have some fun. And then today we just on Beers with Jesus we just walk through the stories of the Bible. So we've been going through Genesis. How do you like it, Carrie? Yo, It's Carrie: We do. We do. I think we have fun. I'm enjoying Genesis. I was, I thought it was, I just thought it was going to be like slow and hard to understand. Instead it's like action packed from like, from that slow. I almost feel, almost feel like the plot's getting rushed here, but you know. Todd: Carrie was nervous about Genesis to begin with. Yeah, it's not slow at all, is it? Are you like, geez, I didn't realize there was this much going on in Genesis? Yo, It's Carrie: I did not realize, I didn't realize that we were this close to the flood. It's just, it's, it is clicking along. We got generations procreating. got crazy plot twists happening today. Todd: Bang bang bang bang bang. Today we got angels and humans making babies. Today we got angels and humans making babies. Yo, It's Carrie: Angels and humans. Who knew? β Wild. Angels and humans. Who knew? β Wild. β Yeah, no, I'm enjoying Genesis big time. Todd: I'm enjoying it too. β I there's just so many good stories in Genesis. The whole thing is so I love it. I think it's great, guys. Thank you so much for joining us. β subscribe, follow, what whatever on whatever platform you're on. β that helps us a lot. And if you rate us, if you give us some reviews, comment. You know, as we're going through this, the the stuff we're going through right now would have multiple different Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Yes, thanks for being here. Todd: Interpretations, things like that. I mean, it's real hard to nail down some of these things. So we're not necessarily approaching it that way. So if we're talking and you're like, you know, that's not the way I see it, I see it this way. Shoot us a comment. We'll talk about it. So Yo, It's Carrie: Yeah, please do, because Todd and I are not seminarians or anything. Todd: Seminarians Semetarians. Yo, It's Carrie: perspective. Todd: Storyteller. We I you know my thing, I look at my gift. If I have a gift, I think I do, and I think it's storytelling, and I think it's writing stories, it's seeing narratives, maybe. That's what we try to do even in even in news. It's fun and we're we're looking through the news today, we're commenting and whatever. And there's a lot of fun, a lot of laughter, but at the same time, you're trying to see the narrative threads that are running through what's going on because what's happening today is Yo, It's Carrie: Yes. Todd: It's it's happened over and over again throughout history. Like you can find the threads, you can say, okay, and that's part of why we go all the way back to Genesis, or all the way back to the original book. And what we find is everything that we're dealing with now is the same stuff that we're dealing with then. Like it's all like wall to wall, Genesis to Revelation. It's all grace and mercy, it's all God loving us, Jesus redeeming us. Like that's the overarching narrative plots. Does that make sense, Carrie? Yo, It's Carrie: No, it's true. It's really true. Yes, but I just want to clarify too that we aren't presenting this as fiction. We are just looking for the truth, like the true story being told in this. Yeah. think that goes. Todd: Right. Well Jesus, it says Jesus always taught in stories. And it was because people that was his what what Jesus believed, and Jesus was God, he made us. So it was it's the best way to communicate to those who aren't receptive right up front. So in other words, once his disciples are on board, then then there's deeper teachings. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Mm-hmm. Todd: And things, and he's giving them the beatitudes, and blessed are those who this, that, and the other. And he's in real in and get digging into teaching. But a lot of times with the crowds, with a wider public, he's just telling stories. Like it'll say that Jesus told stories all day long, and these people, the truths are hidden in the stories, but these seeds are being planted in people. So β that's what we're doing, and that's what we understand. So this week, Genesis six, the very, very beginning. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Todd: One of the Bible teachers that I respect a lot is Steve Gregg. I've I've mentioned him on here before. I listen to him a lot. I enjoy him. He has a β radio, like a like an answer, Bible answer kind of show, weekly show for an hour a day, that is called it might be called the Narrow Path. Yo, It's Carrie: Yes, Greg with two G's. β I think it is, yes. Todd: Anyway, one of his websites is the neuropath.com and one is like Matthew seven thirteen something. But anyway, β you you can get to both of them from each other. He has topical lectures. He goes verse by verse through the entire Bible. β so I really enjoy Steve Gregg. And β and and listening to him kind of break this down, I thought was pretty good. But he what one of the things he said is that when he gets questions, this little passage in Genesis we're going to discuss today is the Single most question β the the topic for the questions he receives on a daily basis more than anything else in the Bible is this little passage in Genesis. So we'll I'll read the little passage. We're gonna kind of bounce today because there isn't a whole lot here, and so we're gonna go a little wider afield into some of the other books and things and see what we get into. Yo, It's Carrie: Fascinating. Okay. Mm-hmm. Okay. So I did read this because if this is because I know this is going to be, I read the four verses ahead ahead of the show because of the way you prefaced everything. And Todd: You read four verses? Yo, It's Carrie: I will be if I had been and grown up familiar with these four verses, I would have an awful lot of questions for Steve Gregg and for pastor, all those. Yeah. I would, I'd be questioning this too. This is really interesting. I will be if I had been and grown up familiar with these four verses, I would have an awful lot of questions for Steve Gregg and for pastor, all those. Yeah. I would, I'd be questioning this too. This is really interesting. Todd: No ja. No ja. Well let's read the four verses and then w tell us what some of your questions would be. I'm curious. Yo, It's Carrie: Alright. Well, I mean, I'm just like, where the heck has this been like the whole, the whole time I've been. Yes. Right. Todd: Where do you start? Okay, guys, so this is just before if you if you know a sequential timeline of Genesis, you have the the creation of all things is Genesis one. God kind of zooms in on the creation and relationship with with humanity in the Garden of Eden in Genesis two. In Genesis three, you get the fall, the fall of man, the serpent, the eve, the apple, the whole thing. All of these we've Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Yeah, his relationship. Todd: Already done programs on real recently, and you quite honestly you should listen to all of them. Make time in your day. It's worth that. But go on to four. Chapter 4 is Cain and Abel and a little bit more. And then the family tree of the human race, which was chapter 5, we talked about last week. A lot of what we talked. Yo, It's Carrie: not long. Which sounds like a dull topic on the surface, but Todd did a great job with a chart. So I highly recommend going and looking at that. Yeah, Inik was introduced. Todd: We we kind of went through Enoch is where we focused last week. And then interestingly enough, there's a bo there's a there's a book of the it's not of the Bible. There was a book called the Book of Enoch. They have the first book Enoch, second book Enoch. Anyways, written around 200 or 300 BC. So two or three hundred years before Christ. That book is not in our biblical canons of β of the New Testament of like Orthodox Christianity. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Todd: Catholic, you know what I mean, Protestants, that they don't have it in the canon. The only book, the only place is the Ethiopian church where they have the book of Enoch in the canon. But it was quoted by both Peter and Jude in the Bible, and so it's given quite a bit of weight, and it talks in depth about it. It takes this Genesis six passage and it expands on it. So we'll get into that too. So let me read the first little bit here. This is Genesis six, one through four, in the message. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Mm-hmm. Todd: When the human race began to increase with more and more daughters being born, the sons of God noticed that the daughters of men were beautiful. They looked them over and picked out wives for themselves. Then God said, I'm not going to breathe life into men and women endlessly. Eventually they're going to die. From now on they can expect a lifespan of one hundred and twenty years. This was back in the days, and also later. When the human race began to increase with more and more daughters being born, the sons of God noticed that the daughters of men were beautiful. They looked them over and picked out wives for themselves. Then God said, I'm not going to breathe life into men and women endlessly. Eventually they're going to die. From now on they can expect a lifespan of one hundred and twenty years. This was back in the days, and also later. When there were giants in the land. The giants came from the union of the sons of God and the daughters of men. These were the mighty men of ancient lore, the famous ones. When there were giants in the land. The giants came from the union of the sons of God and the daughters of men. These were the mighty men of ancient lore, the famous ones. So that's all, guys. That's β but out of that comes more questions than anybody anything else. β Yo, It's Carrie: Right? Hey, I thought that they were named in this. They're not. Sorry. It was my... The Nephilim is the term that we've used preparing for this. Todd: They're not. Nephilim is yeah, that that that would be the the word in the Hebrew that that you see. That word is only I think it's used once or twice. I know it's used in numbers. So when when God frees the Israelites from Egypt, remember and they're they go to the can they go to the promised land and they send in twelve spies. Ten of the spies come back and they're like, This is hopeless, and two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, are like, God's got this, we can take β Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. I won't. Mm-hmm. Todd: But but the reason it's hopeless is because they go into the promised land and they see giants. They see the Nephilim is the is the word that's used. And because of the giants, they say in there, we we we felt like grasshoppers in their sight. You know what I mean? And we can't even come close to dealing with these people. There's walled cities, there's giants, all this stuff in the promised land. So God frees them from Egypt. He brings them to the Promised Land, but when He wants to bring them into the Promised Land, Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay, sure. Okay. Todd: The promised land is a little too scary for the Egyptians. That's I mean, they don't think God can do it. He they've seen him split the Red Sea, they've seen the plagues in Egypt, but you throw giants and Nephilim in and they're like, whoa, now why would that be? Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. Well, sure. Why would they be afraid? Todd: Well, as afraid as they seem to be, to to to to to doubt God's promise. Yo, It's Carrie: β yeah, because again, like I just, see this, I've seen this over and over again when we went through acts and even in the gospel of Mark, when a human is facing a worldly concrete, you know, threat. Todd: Yeah. We're scared. Yo, It's Carrie: It's really hard to break out. Yeah, it's really hard to break out of that human earthly rooted fear of, of what's right in front of you. But, but wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Is, does this mean that the Nephilim, some Nephilim survived the flood? Todd: It is. Well that's a that's a good question that we have to get into. β I don't know is the answer, but I mean it seem it it's the same word. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. I'm getting ahead of us. Okay. Okay. Todd: Or or or genetically was it was it still within I just don't I don't know. β so so the that Goliath would be another one. And the sons of Anak it talks about in in first Samuel when David's dealing with the Philistines and they there's giants that he deals with. Goliath's one of them. Goliath's not the only one. There's multiple giants that David or David's brother, there was multiple guys who killed these giants. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Well, I thought of Goliath, for example. Yeah, mean, Goliath was- Yes. Okay. Okay, I couldn't remember. Okay, I could only remember the one. it. Okay. Interesting. Todd: David the most famous. Yeah, of course. So that so there does seem to be well well now now there's two different primarily two different renderings of this. Most of most of ancient Jews and most of Christianity has assumed that these were angels. That when it says sons of God, that that these are angels. There there's another s there's another spot where Yo, It's Carrie: Yep. think that's translation. Todd: where it uses the same where where that same word for sons of God is used and it's in Job and it talks about the angels coming before God and and and reporting to him on what's going on on earth. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Right. I mean, I think you can make the argument that, you we're all like, you're a son of God, you know, men are sons of God, but it's contrasted obviously here with the daughters of men, like the sons of God and the mating with the daughters of men. So obviously a distinction has been made. Todd: Mm-hmm. Let me give you the less exciting, the less throaty version that people think it could mean. And then we'll go with what most people have have believed. And so there's this over Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay, less than. Todd: Arcing plot point or this overarching truth, which is beautiful women defile good men. I mean, that's that and that's true. That's been true all through. You know, you got Delilah and Samson. Like, like good men fall through lust to beautiful women. Like, this is a this is all through David and Bathsheba. I mean, it's just it's everywhere, right? Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, whatever you want. Point is. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Sure. I think Bill was a piece of work all by himself, but go ahead. Todd: So so there's an idea that that the virtuous line of men in intermarried with the worldly line of Cain and that from this were great leaders, but they were evil leaders and evil multiplied. β okay, so that's the less throaty version. And and I think Steve Gregg would lean there because I think he has a big problem with the fact that Yo, It's Carrie: from Seth. Okay. Okay. Okay. Todd: In Matthew 20, I think it is, Jesus says, β remember the leaders, the β Sadducees come to Jesus. Sadducees and Pharisees were the primary religious sects in Jerusalem, the leaders. Pharisees believed in the resurrection of the dead, Sadducees didn't. Sadducees come to them and they say, Well, what about a guy who has a wife? And then he dies. And then his brother takes her, because that's what the law had said, you know, to carry on the line. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Right. That's right. Okay. Todd: And she goes through seven brothers and they all die. When she gets to heaven, who's her husband? You know, the Sadducees were all taken with themselves because this is such a And Jesus says, the thing I say all the time that I quote, you don't know God and you don't know how he works. That's what Jesus says to him. I quote Jesus a lot on that one because I think it's true. I think a lot of the error that people run into is because they don't know God or and they don't know how he works. Well, what Jesus says is that in heaven Yo, It's Carrie: Yeah. Right. It was like a church law riddle is all it was. Mm-hmm. Todd: There's no marrying or giving in marriage between angels. He says, we'll be like the angels, which is no marrying or giving in marriage in heaven. All our intimacies are with God. That's what Matthew 20 says. Now that passage makes it difficult for a Bible teacher like Steve Gregg because he says they're not it do it doesn't seem like it's part of angels to procreate. It doesn't seem like it's part of how God created them. They're spirits, they're not physical. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Right. I hear that. Okay. Todd: I don't have as much of an issue. So so that's one. So that's why they take that that other track. I will say though, the more popular β interpretation has been that angels I mean, because you read the thing and it really I mean, it's hard not to almost feel like you're gut in the entire passage if you do if you try to take that. Because it's talking about mighty men and men of renown and and the you know what I mean? And it's like Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. You feel, it feels like you're gutting the passage in what way? Meaning that you. Todd: Meaning if you say, well, they were just the good people intermarrying with the bad people. It just doesn't read that way. And then at that point you really do have to take the first book of Enoch, which we can say isn't biblical, but it might be like Sep Second Temple writings, it might be like C.S. Lewis, there's probably a lot of truth in there. Peter and Jude seem to think so. So Yo, It's Carrie: β yes. Right. I was going to say, I feel like it's important in this and everything we talk about today. Todd: And you would have to gut that entire book and just ignore it. Say, no, that's all bullshit. You know what I mean? Like that none of that is real. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Like it does, I feel like it, doesn't, anything written at that time doesn't have to be part of the, the Bible to be true. Todd: Right. Well, this was written a lot later, but what what the Book of Enoch does is it it it takes and it expands on this story. So let me summarize okay, so so I gave you the I gave you the β the the super palatable easy one that's just β good people and bad people were getting together. Okay. That there are people who believe that. The other one is that angels came down, saw the do saw women, God's creation, which was woman, that was that was gorgeous, and wanted them. Yo, It's Carrie: Yes. Yeah. Okay. Mm-hmm. Todd: And lust overtook β and they fell and they took these women, these human women for wives. I mean that's how it reads. It and we tend to take things, especially in Beers with Jesus, like how the story tells us. So I think that's what we're what we're gonna go with. But Enoch takes it in the book of Enoch and it and it says there was two hundred watchers. It gives the names of the angels, or at least some of β who led and they fell. They wanted they knew that this was forbidden. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Todd: And the leader was like, listen, I don't want to do this on my own and then be the only one judged. So these 200 angels that were called the Watchers made a pact together. Like the founders of β of America back when they were using the Declaration of Independence, and Benjamin Franklin said, We shall leave we we will all hang together, or we will surely all hang separately. Like it's that kind of thing. You know what I mean? Like Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Okay. Okay. Todd: They decided to make a pact that they were going together, and these angels did that. So we're gonna we're gonna rebel against God together, come down, take human what now. So it's not difficult for me to believe that in the whatever that process is of falling for an angel, that an angel could be capable of sex in that process. Do you know what I mean? Like that isn't Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right. Yeah. That's not hard for me to stretch either. And I think to especially, I mean, I don't know where I got this because there isn't really anything written here that we've encountered describing Lucifer's rebellion and fall. Correct? It's not in Genesis. Todd: Right. Yeah. It's well it's it's almost nowhere. Whatever Lucifer means, which probably isn't Satan, is in Isaiah. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. But I, I remember hearing somewhere and tell me if you've heard this before that he was envious, he was envious of God's love for the people he created. And I'm like, if here's the thing, even if that's speculation, all this, maybe it's understandable. And yes, the angels they're in heaven, it's paradise. Everything's perfect. But guess what? Todd: Maybe. Yo, It's Carrie: Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden and everything was perfect and everything was paradise and they had, they wanted for nothing. But as soon as there's something that isn't yours, you know, I think that, I think we just tend to, I mean, we obviously tend to gravitate to it, to want it. So I think it makes, I think it's not too big a stretch to think. Todd: Right. Yo, It's Carrie: that angels could have looked down at humanity that God created and loved and thought, yeah, I want to be a part of that in some way. And those women down there are really beautiful. You know? That's not too crazy, Todd. Todd: No, I don't think so. I'm gonna hold on guys. I'm just gonna I want I want Grok to give me the first book of Enoch. Just so I can read it. β I've got the summary up. The problem with Grok is on my phone, Grok's an app, and it doesn't joint sync to my computer, so searches I've done are not you know what I mean? β but there's some things that they talk about. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. I acknowledge we're speculating, β boy. Okay. Mm-hmm. Todd: Basically they talk about how the the angels come down and they see these women and they take these women for wives and they begin procreating with them, having sexual relations. And out of these out of these are are the women get pregnant and they have what it talks about, which is the mighty men of old, the mighty men of renown. Now what Enoch in the first book of Enoch, what it lists the specific angels, some of them, and then it also says that with these higher angels who led this Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Okay. Mm-hmm. Todd: rebellion of whatever sorts that not only did those angels take human wives and then they had giants but when they talk about giants now listen this could be hyperbole but they're talking hundreds of feet tall probably there was a hyperbole of some sort point is whatever they whatever the the spies the Jerusalem the the Jewish spies felt like in numbers when they're going into the promised land that was what like every all the humans felt in the presence of these people and Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm, okay. Okay. Right. Todd: And then what it what it talks about in Enoch is how these giants ravaged and devoured everything. Like just all the resources they're ravaging, and they're taking all these women and they're doing all these things, and then they start eating people like cannibalism. There's just all of these things. So that's where you get this is an Enoch referring to what's happening. So you get this picture of a of a pre flood world, antideluvian world, where Yo, It's Carrie: you Okay. Okay. This is an Enoch. This is an... Okay. Okay. Todd: Evil has run amok worse than anything we've ever seen because specifically the the the ingredient that's brought into it is these fallen angels and then these angels teach mankind forbidden knowledge and arts from God. And the forbidden knowledge and arts are astrology, metallurgy, so β so β forming forming swords and swords. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Okay. That's metallurgy. I've heard that word. Todd: Forming weapons. War, how to wage war, cosmetology, how to do makeup and make jewelry and and and all these kinds of things. Yep. Yo, It's Carrie: β yeah, weaponry was one. Okay. Yeah. What is that? Like kind of like self-adornment? What is the metallurgy? Is that the weaponry stuff? Okay. Okay, gotcha. Todd: That would be taking like iron and copper and and yeah, making them into because it said it it said in Genesis five that β so we know this was going on because it said last week I think it was last week. Maybe I'm getting it mixed up with four. No, it was in four where he said Zilla gave birth for to Tubal Cain, who worked at the forge making bronze and iron tools. So they were already starting this. But but the idea is that these fallen angels come down and they just Yo, It's Carrie: β huh. Okay. Todd: expose mankind to all kinds of it it would be taken even further by a lot of people. They think that they had ancient technology. So what a lot of people this is why a lot of this is going on right now is we've got these UFO declassifications that that Trump is doing and these orbs that are showing up and all these different things. You know we had the drones last year, right? All the different stuff that that we don't have any Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I don't think those were alien, but okay. Todd: Well, what a lot of people think is that they were that they're demonic, that they're spiritual, that they're not physical at all, actually. β I don't know whether that's true or not true. I don't know that we'd have any way to know whether that was true or not true. But but there's a lot of people that think that. And one of the things that is postulated is that when these watchers came down and in the midst of all of this chaos and all of this war and all these things they're they're they're they're teaching people they're Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. Todd: technology and that they had an advanced form of technologies that even we don't have today. And this is the idea that when the flood came, some of these civilizations, small remnants retreated to places where might they have retreated some. Some people think the moon, the dark side of the moon, some people think the oceans, because we don't know anything about the oceans. And and and so the idea is that a lot of what we're seeing, they're not extraterrestrials, they're terrestrials that that hearken back from this era that yes, some Yo, It's Carrie: Right, underground. Mm-hmm. Todd: remnants survived the flood. That's what people think. I'm not saying that that's that's just something that's out there. β whether or not it's true, I don't and and then the other thing people point out is that we don't have any we we have we find archaeo archaeological finds with bones of giants, but they're like nine or ten feet tall. They're not hundreds of feet tall. We don't have anything and that Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Right, I was gonna say, isn't it like 10 feet? That was my... Okay. Todd: There there there is giantism within our genet within our genetics that can explain some of that. Nothing that would explain, I don't think, what it's talking about here in Genesis six. But then people say, Well, why don't we find the remnant why haven't we found any fossils of giant bones, the Nephilim bones or whatever? Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Well, was going say, it might not have been that many, you know? Todd: Could have been. I mean, y well, if you think about it, if you think of there's two hundred angels, well there was at least have one each, but probably a lot more kids than that. Right? If they're lusting after these women, they're probably putting them through their paces. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Yeah, but I mean, even if they had one, but I mean, when you think of, but we, but listen, let's say they had one each. We're talking about 200 people in the history of the world. It's not that many. It's not, yeah, it's not like we'd necessarily have like, they wouldn't, yes, to find, to find the remains, sure. Todd: Two hundred giants. You're saying it it'd be like needle in a haystack trying to find those bones. Plus there's nothing saying that God I I question whether God God hides it talk there there's a a passage in Deuteronomy that talks about God hiding the deep things of the world. So in other words, there's not we are gonna know everything. There's things that God keep there's things that God holds back from us, holds to himself for whatever reason. We don't know what they are. Probably all kinds of things. But I mean we w he tells us there's some things. Yo, It's Carrie: β Mm-hmm. Okay, keeps the mystery. β right. I'm sure. Todd: And it's not shocking to think that there could have been a flood, and as cataclysmic as such a an event would have been, that that there wouldn't be anything well, the entire point, I think, of God is that there's not gonna be anything of you left. People aren't gonna be finding remnants of your civilization. When I'm done, this evil is done. Now there is one caveat to that. We've talked about demons, we've talked about Satan, we've talked about some of that as we've gone through Yo, It's Carrie: Uh-huh. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Okay. Mm-hmm. Todd: Our various readings in Mark and in Acts and now in Genesis. There are people who believe that the Nephilim the demons, not fallen angels, two different things. If you think about it, fallen angels in the Bible, whenever you see them, you don't see them that much, but they they're still kind of presented kind of majestically, like the Prince of Persia's fighting Michael the archangel. I mean, demons are presented like a they're a little grubbier. They're like down like they wanna make people bark like a dog and th like you know what I mean? And and they seem to Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Right, they're depraved and they look, I mean, when they're depicted visually, they're more like a gargoyle than an angel. There's a darkness to it. Todd: Yeah. And if you think if you think of Jesus with the demoniac in the tombs, the he Jesus casts them out. Remember their legion. There's a mob of these demons and they ask to be don't send us to the abyss, send us into those pigs. There's something about demons that that seem to really hunger after a body. It's like they're trying to get something back that they once had. Well, one of the theories is that the souls of the Nephilim Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Todd: the the hybrid offspring of angels and and humans were cursed to become demons. And that's where demons come from the souls of the Nephilim. So their souls, these spirits did survive the flood and still haunt us and still plague us. The the what I find intriguing about that is is the behavior I see in the New Testament of demons. It just seems it just seems like they're just out to mess Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Okay. Todd: with people to cause chaos to to to do whatever. Fallen angels and angels in general seem to have a little higher purposes. Even if they're fallen, they seem to be thinking on a little a grander scale, if that makes sense. It's hard for me to imagine a fallen angel just wanting to throw some poor possessed kid into a fire. Do you know what I mean? I just feel like they're dealing with bigger things. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows? Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Okay. Right. No, like I see what you're saying. Like there's a fallen angel, for example, is just like deeper, deeper in purpose, deeper, deeper in makeup. Whereas β this demon, like the demons we've seen possessed, β possessing figures in the books we've read are, they're, they're very shallow. Like they're very too, I'm going to say two dimensional. Todd: Yeah. Yo, It's Carrie: They know who Jesus is and they're fighting him. They're not as strong as he is, but like you said, they beg to not go back there. They want to be sent, like you said, into another body. That's really like all we know. Todd: Well Jesus tells a story about how a demon i if i if you cast out a demon and and then that that soul is kind of how Jesus presents it, it's clean swept. So you have a you have a a soul that's swept clean, but the soul of the possessed is swept clean. But he says then those demons will go through dry and arid places, but they'll sometimes circle back around to the same person from which they were cast out. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. The soul of the possessed, not the demon, correct? Okay. Todd: And if that person has not been filled with something else, they'll bring seven of their friends and they'll reinfest him, is what it talks about. So so there is there's something in demons specifically that really wants to possess a body, is what it seems like. You know what I mean? And they'll they'll destroy the soul inside, they'll do whatever. It's like a hunger. It's like a hunger they can't like sate. Is that the right word? Satiate. Anyway. Yo, It's Carrie: Dang, β my gosh. Okay. Well, and maybe that's their whole purpose. I think so. Yes, there you go. Todd: I think Sate's the word, but anyway, we don't use it that way. I don't. So anyway, that's th those are some ideas that are bouncing around in here that people get really they find real interesting. First of all, how could angels and humans can angels and humans still procreate? Like, I mean, i is i you you have the stories now this would be more in fiction where you have demons that come and Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Todd: y they'll impregnate women and they'll have so it's but it's the same exact kind of thing that's happening here. It's just not all at once. Although we don't see a we don't hear a lot of it. So Yo, It's Carrie: Right, I mean... I believe in demon possession, and I believe in guardian angels, but I don't believe angels physically interact with humans. You know what I mean? Todd: Yeah. No, I I I yeah, I do. Yo, It's Carrie: Not like tangibly. And I don't think demons do either. Like gross movies who talk about demons impregnating women, that's just gross. And I don't think that happens. Todd: Right. Well, it's kind of a typical trope for like what would you call it? β Anne Rice. Anne Rice had some of that in her stuff. Yeah, horror type I'm probably horror type stuff, you know what mean? β stories and whatever. So that that's interesting. I think this is why people find the whole thing so fascinating. The other reason I think people find it so fascinating is because they don't perceive any of the answers to actually matter all that much to them. It's not like Jesus calling them to be pure. Yo, It's Carrie: Yeah. I don't know. β really? Ugh. I hate that stuff. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Todd: Like that like that's something you gotta deal with right away. If you can just you can just think about demons and angels and whatever, and it's not you can go out and live your life however you want. I mean I'm not I'm not a fallen angel. That's not not that bad. I don't you know what I mean. I think we Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Yes. There's not a call to action in these four verses. Todd: We're drawn to things that that don't challenge us in our lives to go be better. You know what I mean? Yo, It's Carrie: Right. It's, yeah, you're right. So it's just a, it's just curiosity about the origins of some things. Well. Todd: Yeah. I think it's why on on the your average every everyday ordinary people are calling into a radio show and asking those kinds of questions, and yet we don't hear much about it from priests during homilies or from pastors during messages. And I think that's the reason is because I'm not sure there's a whole lot to be gained out of it on a week to week basis to encourage people. You know what I mean? Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Well, and despite how either credible or sacred any ancient texts are, if it's not part of the Bible, they're usually not talking about it on the, on the, at the podium or on the stage. Yes. Okay. I was really curious when you said, you just mentioned it again, that this, that this is referred to, Enoch is referred to. Todd: You always wonder about it. Right. They're not gonna go there. Now, I'm gonna go to Jude quick. I'm gonna read a couple things out of Jude. Yo, It's Carrie: elsewhere in the Bible, so I'm glad you're doing this. This is cool. Todd: Yeah, and this is one. So this is what β okay. He says So this is β Jude five. There's only one chapter in Jude. The heading in the message is Lost Stars in Outer Space. I'm laying this out as clearly as I can, even though you once knew all this well enough and shouldn't need reminding. You could have left that out, Jude. Jude. I think he's a brother of Jesus. Hold on. Yo, It's Carrie: Hahaha Who wrote this? Is this Jude? Todd: I, Jude, am a slave to Jesus Christ and brother to James, writing to those loved by God the Father. But I think he was brother to James who was a brother of Jesus. I think there was another James, James the Just, who wrote the book of James. I don't think that's who Jude's talking. Anyway, if I'm wrong, guys, send me a comment. You're probably right. β So it says the master saved the people out of the land of Egypt. Later he destroyed those who defected. Yo, It's Carrie: Brother Jesus, okay. Okay. Okay. Fill us in. Okay. Todd: And you know the story of the angels who didn't stick to their post, abandoning it for other darker missions. But they are now chained and jailed in a black hole until the Great Judgment Day. Sodom and Gomorrah, which went to sexual rack and ruin along with the city the with the surrounding cities that acted just like them are another example. Burning and burning and never burning up. They serve still as a stock warning. That's exactly the same program of these latest infiltrators. Dirty sex, rule and rulers thrown out, glory dragged in the mud. The archangel Michael, who went to the mat with the devil as they fought over the body of Moses. That's again something we don't have anywhere else. This is the only place we hear about this. That the Archangel Michael, Michael the Archangel, who went to the mat with the devil as they fought over the body of Moses. Yo, It's Carrie: And say that part again, that part. Dang. Todd: Because remember when when God when it was time for Moses to die, God brought Moses away and and and he died on God's the only person who knows where Moses was buried. It does talk about that. No the the children of Israel never knew. But here it talks about Michael battling with Satan over Moses' body. It's kind of an odd thing, right? Weird. Who knows? And but it says Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Wow. Yes. Todd: β Michael wouldn't have dared level Satan with a blasphemous curse, but said simply, No, you don't, God will take care of you. And then he goes back to talking to the people that he was comparing to the angels who got thrown into a pit, which is what Enoch describes. And he says, But these people sneer at anything they can't understand, and by doing whatever they feel like doing, living by animal instinct only, they participate in their own destruction. I'm fed up with them. And then this is interesting. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Todd: They've gone down Cain's road. Interesting. They've been sucked into Balaam's error by greed. Balaam was the one whose donkey talked to him because he was trying to curse the Israelites. And every time he tried to speak, God changed the bless the curse into a blessing. And he kept trying to do it because he was paid to curse the Israelites. And every time he tried, and then there was an angel in the road waiting to kill him, and his donkey stops. Yo, It's Carrie: Ooh. you Todd: And Balaam's hitting his donkey. Why won't you go? And his donkey speaks and he says, They're gonna kill you. There's an angel in the road. Yo, It's Carrie: That's awesome! Todd: Donkey and a serpent, I think those are the only times in the Bible that animals talk, but those are the two. And then he says they they're canceled out in Korah's rebellion. Korah was was at the time of Moses, after they were delivered from the land of Egypt, there was a group that rebelled against Moses before they got to the promised land, and then before they were wandering in the desert for forty years. There was a group led by Korah that that had rebelled against Moses, and Moses prayed to God, and God the ground opened up and swallowed these people. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. β before that. Okay. Todd: Essentially Korah in his rebellion. So anyway, the the the point is that that and then he'll say later on, this is Jude still, Enoch, the seventh after Adam prophesied of them. Look, the master comes with thousands of holy angels to bring judgment against them all, convicting each person of every defiling act of shameless sacr sacrilege, of every dirty word they have spewed of their pious filth. They are the complainers. Yo, It's Carrie: Wow. Todd: The belly achers, grabbing for the biggest piece of the pie, talking big, saying anything they think that will get them ahead. So he's he's he's comparing people in this church, whatever church I can't remember which church he's writing to, β to these angels that have been that were thrown into the abyss. And all of it refers back to Enoch and all of it refers back to before the flood, what we're talking about right now. Yo, It's Carrie: Wow. Todd: So clearly clearly and Peter talks about the angels too that were that were cursed. And so I think we can say that that the the New Testament writers believed that that story was talking about angels and and humans. Yo, It's Carrie: Is it anywhere here in the Bible, does anything describe God creating the angels? Okay. It's really interesting. Todd: No. Or Satan, and he must have created Satan. I know that a lot of people think Satan Satan's a fallen angel. It doesn't say that anywhere in the Bible, I'd like to point out. Yo, It's Carrie: Where did we get that then? I mean, feel like that's the standard explanation. Todd: Talks about Lucifer in the morning in the morning star, but it's talking of it's a prophecy directed to the king of Tyre or Sidon, I don't remember which. And there's multiple Yeah. And and people take it and and and I don't know why they think that it it there's also the idea that Satan took a third of the angels with him. There's no place in the Bible that ever talks about a third of the angels. In Revelation seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, somewhere in there it talks about how the dragon Yo, It's Carrie: And is that an Isaiah? Is that what you were saying? Isaiah is the one who kind of tells that story. Right. Okay. Todd: Swept a third of the stars out of the sky. That's the only thing that there is in the entire Bible about a third of and so they took it and made it Lucifer, and he took a third of the angels. Maybe I don't know. All I know is that it doesn't say that. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, it could have. But in Enoch, it specifically gives the number 200 for the watchers. So these 200 β watchers descend on this mountain. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay, gotcha. And that's just how they interpreted it. I mean, it's just interesting, right? It's interesting. Yeah. Todd: And it was this mountain where they make their pack and their oath to defy God specifically in this way with with his creation. And what they're doing essentially is they're they're re they're they're taking they're doing what lust always does, which is they're taking something God created and using it in a way that God forbid. Does that make sense? And so I mean that's Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yep. Todd: What I was trying to get to with it is okay, β what does this story mean for people for for us? Like today. You know what I mean? Like what like what what what are we supposed to look at these first four well first of all I think that that the that it was really that the the pre flood era was really evil. We can't imagine it because we look at Hitler and we look at Stalin and we think, how could anything be worse than than this? Well, I guess it was. I guess if Stalin Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Mm-hmm. Right. night. Todd: was forty feet tall and eating people by the fistful, it might be that video on our phone might get a lot of likes, a lot of views. Yo, It's Carrie: β my god. A lot of thumbs down. Todd: Quit eating those people. So my point is I I I think that it was it can be I think the idea is that unrestrained evil takes over and it just destroys everything. And I think the same is true. Like if we took this from this this this worldwide scale and we kind of bring it square down into like where we live. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Todd: We can say that we do the same thing sometimes. We look at things and and maybe we're we're drawn away by lust. That's the easiest thing. And we look at it and we know God is forbidden. And yet we think, looks really good. Looks really tasty. I think I'll live with the call, with with whatever the punishment is. That's what these angels thought. And then what we don't realize is. Yo, It's Carrie: It was really tasty. Todd: Is that sin given that kind of a that kind of a head in our lives, or that kind of a β of just it can just go? Once we give in to that kind of sin, what we don't see is the giants down the road. We don't see when those sins all of a sudden that we thought we could manage, we thought we could handle whatever punishments were gonna come, it'd be worth it if we could bang her. Or him. I mean it depends on who we are. But β point is that. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Right, that kind of freedom. Todd: We think we can deal with it, but we never we we we never know how many how w what that sin is gonna grow into. You know what I mean? Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Right. Right. It doesn't necessarily mean that we are going to escalate. It's just that the consequences of our sin might magnify, you know. Todd: It's like you can count. Well and I think that they do what happens what what these giants, these Nephilim did to the world in that day, which is they just started devouring things. And so you you you let something you you you think, you know what? I can make this compromise and it'll be okay. I can deal with just this and I'll be able to keep it confined. Like we like to keep God confined to our boxes. We like to keep our sin confined. We're big fans of our boxes and we think I can box this one up. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Well, sure. Well, Todd, you just said, like you just said, that story in Enoch is that the angels got together and they're like, we're just going to meet together, just us. We're just going to contain this. We're going to define. It's like the same thing. We just feel like we're, we're in control of it when we're making decisions. Todd: Yeah. But once we open it up, those things start to just devour entire families, entire parts of our lives are devoured that we never saw coming. We never, the cost is so much greater than what we ever imagined. There was a reason why God said don't. You know what I mean? It's not in the end, that's not any different than Adam and Eve in the garden when God said, Don't eat that fruit. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right. Right. Mm-hmm. Todd: And the serpent's like, You're really gonna like what you get out of it? Yo, It's Carrie: Yeah. Todd: And they got something out of it. But I and they may have li they liked it for a little while. But I think all of us are that way. Th th they just evil is bigger and more diverse and grows faster and all of it it's just more uncontrollable than we than than we can imagine, I think. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Todd: I don't know. What do you think, Gary? Yo, It's Carrie: Well, there's something that I thought about this and I know we didn't, we didn't read the next, the next verse, but you know, you've, you've hinted at it that like this just unleashes, like there's just evil all over the, all over the earth at this point. And I thought about that. And if this is the precursor, the motivation, the catalyst to the flood, to God, just regretting looking at the, looking at the world and saying, Todd: Yeah. Yo, It's Carrie: This, this is a failed experiment. This is so awful. need to destroy it all. If that's the case, follow me here for a second. We look around, it's really easy. You watch the news and you listen to people just griping about the state of the world. β they call it troubled times. And I'm just like, we have it better than like when people call us like, β I'm just so unsettled. Like the, you know, the world is so, and I'm thinking we have it easier than anyone has ever had it in history. Todd: Yeah. Everything's relative. Right. Yo, It's Carrie: β But I just think the way that we look at the world and we think, yes, there are, there's a lot of evil, but I think it's not that bad. It's not as bad as this. And if it were, God would be destroying us all right now. And the reason I say this is not to justify evil in the world. I'm saying it because this is something I grapple with when I just talk with people, meet, meet new people is Everyone's view of the world, like often people's view of the world is so negative. And I think there's so much good in the world. There's so much beauty. There's such faith. You know, we've talked about revivals happening. We, did you hear about them? The huge baptism that just happened in Jacksonville beach. It's like, okay. Todd: No. Other than I think you mentioned it, but no, I ha I hadn't heard other than that. Yo, It's Carrie: Okay, it just happened recently. There's a big church that we have here. It's a big Sunday show kind of church, but I'm trying to remember how many people they baptized. I feel like it was in the neighborhood of 2,000 people, something like that. It was huge. And if you go look it up online, it's at Hannah Park in Jacksonville, and you see just this spot. had 14,000 people there watching it happen. Yeah, it was incredible. Todd: Sure. Nothing like a Sunday show. Holy moly. Wow. Yo, It's Carrie: And I think of that and I think it's really cool. And I think people are, people are seeking, they're seeking God right now. They're looking for Jesus. They're making changes and you know, no, we're not gonna see, we're not gonna see perfection here on earth. We're not gonna see that until it's all over. But I feel like, man, if God's not destroying us all with a flood. Todd: That's really cool. Yo, It's Carrie: or opening up the earth and swallowing us up because we're so awful, then you know what? feel like there's, I think it's just a good thing to remember that you need to look for the good because there's just so much good in the world. Todd: Butter. I wonder sometimes this might come off a little heretical to people. I wonder s yeah, heretical. I just wonder sometimes because you know Augustine and whatever he he he he he laid in total depravity, that we're totally depraved, right? All human all humanity is totally depraved. But then I wonder sometimes, well, how can God redeem us if there's nothing redeemable about us? It seems like Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Heretical? Yikes, okay. β that we were? That we are? Okay. Todd: It seems to me like when the world got totally depraved, God ended it. He washed it out and started again. That's what it seems like to me. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. You're right. And when the city of Saddam and Gomorrah was like, right, they were totally depraved. Todd: And and by that I don't yeah. By that I don't mean that God that that there's anything in us that we deserve. Like there's not a i if there's any if there's any spark of holiness in us that is redeemable, it was put there by God. It's still all God. That's not my point. Still starts with God. Whatever's in us is all God. I just don't think I don't think that Yo, It's Carrie: Right. I you just saved yourself from sounding heretical right now, but. Todd: I question whether man can totally destroy anything that God has created. In other words, God makes man. Can man by his own choices make himself totally depraved? Is he stronger than God in that sense? I dou I don't know. I just doubt now. You can choose not to you that doesn't mean that you can choose not to follow God. I understand that. You'll die. That's that's what we've been told, and that's what happens. Yo, It's Carrie: okay. Bye Right. Right. Todd: And that aft and that the the only way to life is through Christ. No doubt about that either. I'm not I'm not getting all I'm saying is that if God made us like Himself in His image, if He made us with with some goodness, which He did, he says He made everything, he said it was good, if He made this creation with some goodness, I don't believe that man can totally extinguish that light. Do you understand what I'm saying? I think God's stronger than that. Yo, It's Carrie: β yeah, right. Yes. β God is stronger than that. Yeah. Todd: And I think when God redeems us, He's redeeming something of which there's some redeemable value left. He put the redeemable value there. I'm not saying that. I get that 100%. My only point is that God didn't try to save and redeem the pre-flood world. You know what I mean? Like they like they were, I think, and and maybe the difference is. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Mm-hmm. β yeah. Todd: Maybe the difference is the Nephilim. Maybe the difference is that influence of of this direct spiritual, you know, fallen angel energy that that that that was the pollutant that he had to just wipe clean. And then it talks about us having the Holy Spirit. No, no, that's since Christ has has ascended. But I think that the Holy Spirit is doing a lot to hold that that evil at bay too. You know what I mean? Yo, It's Carrie: Maybe. Ryan is gonna say this is also all pre-Jesus. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, the only thing I can think is, and I think God's more powerful than all of this, but the only thing I can think that would make someone... I say not redeemable. think everyone is redeemable, but the only thing that would cause that permanent fracture would be someone simply denying God and saying, rejecting, let's say rejecting God. But let's say you've got the most diehard atheist on earth and he dies or has an encounter before that, but let's just say he dies. Todd: Mm-hmm. Yo, It's Carrie: If he's face to face with the light and like the glory of God, like in heaven, if he's looking at Jesus standing there in front of him with the wounds right in front of him, I also, yeah, I also believe that that person could not, that a human being is not able to reject that glory and that grace. I think it's impossible. Todd: How can he how can he reject? Okay. Well, what about then? Let me ask you this. What about the sheep and the goats at the white the the great white throne judgment at the end of time? What what it kind of talks about is that God resurrects the dead. You know, and they all stand before him. And the this is the end of time, and he's separating out the sheep and the goats, and the sheep pass on to eternal life, and the goats go into the the lake of fire. Right? What do you think about that? What is that? Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. This is, okay, this is everyone who's died. Okay. End of time. Okay. I mean, I don't know, then we're getting into the whole, you know, if you've listened to this show for any length of time, you've heard me and Todd. Yeah, you should go back. We've talked, we've talked a few times about how much do we really believe that God's taken a whole, you know, large percentage of our population and roasting them for all eternity. I don't know. We, we just. Todd: Yeah. You should. Breathing life into them in order to roast them. That's what that's it. See, that's what people gotta wrap their head around. The only way people because it says this even in our even in our thing here. It says, Then God said, I'm not going to breathe life into men and women endlessly. But wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute. If we're gonna have a forever hell, don't you gotta breathe life into men and women endlessly? Yes, yes, Todd, I do. Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. β Todd: Good call, good catch. I I think that this total depravity thing finds its roots and its necessity in Christian doctrine in an eternal hell. The only way you can feel like they deserve it is if they're totally depraved. You don't have to feel that way if people are dead. You know what I mean? They they they they they suffered the consequence that God told them and they didn't enter into life. But what Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Right. Right. Mm-hmm. Todd: Some Christians, what the Catholic Church would have us believe, and a lot of Protestant churches are, God does breathe life into people endlessly. But wait it says he doesn't. Well he's just talking about on earth here. He breathes it endlessly in hell. Wait a tick. Wait a tick. This looks a lot more like hell pre-flood. Ha ha Yo, It's Carrie: β yeah, actually, well- yeah really where is... yeah i was looking for it Todd: So I think that's part of the β part of the issue. Now, maybe people will say that's semantics and splitting hairs. Fine. I don't know. But my only point is I'm just reading it. And it doesn't sound to me like God's gonna breathe life endlessly into people just so we can roast marshmallows over β I suspect we'll find our joys in other ways. In heaven, that's what I think. Yo, It's Carrie: Yeah, really. We don't think there's a big hellish bonfire. Todd: I don't I don't believe it. Now send me comments guys, tell me how your loved ones, your friends and loved ones that are lost, you can't wait to make smoke pork butts over. Yo, It's Carrie: No. Yeah. OK. I'm gonna stay too. Todd: For all eternity while God breathes life into β It's ridiculous. The entire thing is ridiculous. Yo, It's Carrie: He also talks about a lifespan here, and clearly that is unearthed. That's an earthly life. Todd: You know what's weird is that he does it seems like he's saying that, but he never I mean, even after the flood, you've got people living for five hundred years for a while. Yo, It's Carrie: β really, is it that long? I thought- Todd: Yeah. Like Abraham lives 175 years. And Abraham's away Joseph lives 150. He's at the end of Genesis. Now it does get to the point, but it what it seems like is that it it gradually reduces, but then it reduces farther. It's a lot less than 120. I mean it for a lot of human history it's like fifty or sixty. So it's an interesting thing. I I don't know other than Yo, It's Carrie: Okay. Okay. Mm-hmm. Right. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Todd: God saying I'm not gonna have people live this long. There are people who think that what he's talking about is that there was approximately a hundred and twenty years until the flood when he said this. Yo, It's Carrie: β okay. Todd: But it doesn't exactly read that way. I know it reads like you said. I I I you know what I mean? I'm just giving you some alternates out there, but but Yo, It's Carrie: I don't. Right. And he says eventually they're going to die. I don't think he's talking about. No. Todd: I don't think so either. I think he's talking about people and I think he's saying, Listen, I'm not people aren't gonna live this long. Because of what we talked about last week, which is if you give people eight or nine hundred years, all they do, and especially all they do, once you throw the Nephilim and the fallen angels in, all they do is multiply evil. And it gets worse and worse and worse the older they get. And God's like, I'm not doing this. We're we're changing the program. Yo, It's Carrie: Right. Okay. Right. Yeah. Got the first one to like slap a bumper sticker on that said people suck. It's pretty bad. Todd: So I think so. Do you smell rain? Yo, It's Carrie: β That's funny. Todd: So anyway, I think that's a that's the purpose, maybe, is is to look at it and say, hey, what we gotta be you gotta be careful you always have to be more careful with sin than we think. Everybody, all the time. I think that's fair. You know what I mean? It'll become a giant in your life and it will devour your life. Now Yo, It's Carrie: I think that's fair, right? β well said. Yeah. Todd: It's possible that there's forgiveness on the other end. It's possible you look back and say, even though it devoured my life, I wouldn't want it any other way, because that's what it took for me to see God. Great. Whatever it takes for you to see God. But just know when you're when you're playing with sin, you can't control it. It's it's like trying to control the Nephilim. Just Yo, It's Carrie: Mm-hmm. Right, especially when you start to- Yeah. It's especially when you're trying to, yeah, contain it all yourself. Like I've got this under control. Yeah. If you, if you're, if you're messing with sin, is that what you said? Playing with sin. If you catch yourself ever thinking that along those lines of, yeah, I can, I can contain this. I can handle this. It's like, yeah, you're in very, very thin ice. Todd: Mm-hmm. Yes, playing around with sin. Mm-hmm. I remember thinking it, guys. Todd'sworld.net Leaves the Blue Waves, my memoir. If you read it, I went through a period of my life where I thought I could hang, I thought I could handle it. And you know what's interesting? What's interesting is that is that people we have a tendency to treat God and sin the same way. We think we can control them both. We think we can box them up. And Yo, It's Carrie: Cool. Go, yeah, go read that. Right. Yeah. Todd: They both will spread and do far more than you ever imagine. You you give God just an inch in your life, whoo! He'll do He'll do a full remodel. And you'll be like, What is going on? I didn't sign up for this. I just wanted to be a little better person. Yo, It's Carrie: You're absolutely right. You're absolutely right. Isn't that cool? I just wanted to be a little better person over here while I did my own thing over here. But yeah, you're absolutely right. That's so good, Todd. That's a great observation. Love that. Todd: Mm. You can't keep either one of them contained, I think. Interesting. Alright, well I think we did pretty good, Carrie. We're pushing an hour. Lake Michigan's about forty three. It's cold. Do you underst they're they're they're at some like five year lows and temps for right now. Yo, It's Carrie: β okay. Yeah.
