Latest / Life For Toledo / Deeper Faith Hebrews 11:1

- 0:00I'm thinking today of Hebrews 11, verse 1. Hebrews
- 0:0411, verse 1 says, Now faith is the assurance
- 0:08of things hoped for, the conviction of things
- 0:12not seen. So first of all, we have the faith,
- 0:16and then we have what the faith is directed towards,
- 0:19I guess you could say. So we have two words,
- 0:22assurance and conviction. Assurance is when you're
- 0:24getting constant confirmation. You're comforted
- 0:27in your knowledge that something is true. Conviction
- 0:30is when it goes deeper than the belief. I think
- 0:34it's true, and therefore I'm going to act on
- 0:36it. I'm almost 100 % certain, and therefore I'm
- 0:39going to act on it. But conviction goes way deeper
- 0:42than that, so that when everything else you believe
- 0:45would seem to contradict your conviction, your
- 0:52conviction holds true anyway. I believe in gravity,
- 0:56so I don't go walking off cliffs. But I am convicted
- 0:59that there is a life after this one and that
- 1:03Jesus came so that we might have life and have
- 1:05it more abundantly in this lifetime and then
- 1:08for eternity with God. We can know. It's more
- 1:11than just believing a thing. It's the overflow
- 1:13of knowing a thing down in your soul. Faith is
- 1:17fed by deeper holdings. We are a people of faith
- 1:20and we live in the realm of what we believe.
- 1:23And what we believe flows out of what has become
- 1:26who we are. And believing in Jesus Christ as
- 1:29your Lord and Savior, God will come in and He
- 1:32will save you. If you're 97, 98, 99 % sure that
- 1:36you're saved, that's just not good enough. 99
- 1:38% saved is 100 % lost. Accept Jesus Christ as
- 1:42your Lord and Savior today.
