- 0:00Speaker 1: My next guest is on the phone right now. I
- 0:01Speaker 1: won't hold up in the logo. Long time since I've
- 0:04Speaker 1: actually physically seen her in l A. Um, she's actually
- 0:08Speaker 1: one of my favorite people. UM. My next guest is
- 0:10Speaker 1: an Inn Double, a CP Image Award winning actress, director, producer,
- 0:14Speaker 1: star Bounce TVs, Saints and Centers, and most importantly, a
- 0:18Speaker 1: breast cancer survivor. Please welcome to Money Making Conversation Vanessa
- 0:23Speaker 1: Bill Callaway, Hey, good morning, How are awesome? Awesome? Thank
- 0:28Speaker 1: you for coming on the show today. Uh. So there's
- 0:31Speaker 1: a lot to talk about and we're gonna jump right
- 0:33Speaker 1: into the Uh. The Saints and Center's showed that uh
- 0:37Speaker 1: has been What's this the fourth season? Correct? The fourth
- 0:40Speaker 1: season on Bounce TV yes Sundays at nine pm eight
- 0:44Speaker 1: Central Time. If you haven't seen it, you could catch
- 0:47Speaker 1: up seasons one, two, three on Hulu and then you
- 0:50Speaker 1: can see the show after the airs on brown Sugar
- 0:52Speaker 1: dot com of it, you know, like an app like Netflix,
- 0:56Speaker 1: or you can just wait and it's gonna be on
- 0:57Speaker 1: Hulu right when it ends. But seeing on Sunday nights
- 1:01Speaker 1: at bound, when I tell you you don't want to
- 1:03Speaker 1: miss this show, it is something else is quite a rise.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Now you played the mayor. You played the mayor and
- 1:08Speaker 1: what ron you know it's a Georgia mayor. And because
- 1:11Speaker 1: the mayor of Atlanta is also a female mayor, do
- 1:13Speaker 1: do anyway? You know? I know that's that's because it
- 1:16Speaker 1: feels timely, that feels like, you know, like you guys
- 1:19Speaker 1: saw the future with this particular show. Uh when you
- 1:22Speaker 1: when you realize that that that that's a real life relationship,
- 1:25Speaker 1: does it affect how you played the role on TV? No?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Oh no, not at all. But I'm so glad that
- 1:30Speaker 1: you don't. Mayor Keisha is there. But uh, actually, my character,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Lady Ella started out being the first lady of Greater
- 1:38Speaker 1: Hope Baptist Church, right and in our very first episode
- 1:40Speaker 1: of our very first season, my husband, which was played
- 1:44Speaker 1: by Richard Lawson, was murdered, so it became a who've
- 1:46Speaker 1: done it? And then Lady Ella was very greedy. He
- 1:51Speaker 1: just has a lot of a lot of goals. She
- 1:54Speaker 1: was three, like you were just talking about Rashan about
- 1:56Speaker 1: you know, being your best, your fullest potential, reaching your goals.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It's a relationships. Well, she has a lot of great relationships,
- 2:02Speaker 1: but the difference of hers, and she's kind of squeezes
- 2:05Speaker 1: those relationships to get what she needs touping people and
- 2:09Speaker 1: to progress her career. So she wasn't quite satisfied with
- 2:13Speaker 1: being just the first lady. She had her i on
- 2:15Speaker 1: being mayor, and now in season four, she has her
- 2:17Speaker 1: eye on being senator, and she's trying to be a senator.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So I said, if the show keeps going by season six,
- 2:23Speaker 1: who knows, I might be the president of you Now
- 2:25Speaker 1: you go, do you go? There? You're gonna do? Okay? Uh?
- 2:31Speaker 1: I love the fact. First of all, I love the
- 2:33Speaker 1: energy in your voice when you start talking about Karry,
- 2:35Speaker 1: because obviously you're having a lot of fun playing this character. Oh,
- 2:39Speaker 1: she's deliciously wicked. I mean, you know, as an actress,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you only pray for fun rows like this you get,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you know, and it's nice to play multi fascinating characters,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and Lady Ellen definitely falls in that category. He's just
- 2:52Speaker 1: not one note. You know, she's a mother, she's a wife,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and she's you know, of course runs in the city,
- 2:59Speaker 1: but she's got a lot of not going on, a
- 3:01Speaker 1: lot of demons. So you know, that's fun because you
- 3:03Speaker 1: get a chance to think your teeth into something and
- 3:05Speaker 1: just um, just that fun with it, you know, right,
- 3:09Speaker 1: And so when you're when you're doing when you look
- 3:12Speaker 1: at the ratings and I was sent me the press
- 3:14Speaker 1: kid and everything and saying how good the show is
- 3:17Speaker 1: doing up against its competition. And that's really a testament
- 3:20Speaker 1: to the characters on the show, the script's development, and
- 3:25Speaker 1: also the brand and the marketing and so because you know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: you know, you know, Bounce is not an upper tier
- 3:31Speaker 1: network and that fact is syndicated the mat So to
- 3:34Speaker 1: be able to competre, how does that make you feel
- 3:36Speaker 1: about you being a person on the show and then
- 3:40Speaker 1: able to to be able to develop a brand that
- 3:42Speaker 1: people are just resonating with the viewers out there. Well,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, I think that it says a lot of
- 3:48Speaker 1: things also, just like you said, and also says that,
- 3:51Speaker 1: you know, because in the African American you know, in
- 3:55Speaker 1: our community, yes, we are like very high rated in
- 3:59Speaker 1: our time slot from eighteen to forty five, and that's
- 4:02Speaker 1: also a wide range of people watching our shows eighteen
- 4:05Speaker 1: to forty five, a lot of different ages like that show.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And um, you know, this is our fourth season and
- 4:11Speaker 1: we kind of came out to the ground running, even
- 4:14Speaker 1: though we were getting very very good numbers. So that
- 4:17Speaker 1: tells you that black folks we want to see us,
- 4:20Speaker 1: stay tired of looking at, you know, shows where they
- 4:23Speaker 1: don't have no black friends. And although things have changed
- 4:26Speaker 1: in the TV sector, you know, things have changed and
- 4:29Speaker 1: we have more programming now and more UH channels and
- 4:32Speaker 1: more TV shows, but still the folks want to see them,
- 4:35Speaker 1: you know. So it's a lot three tad especially since
- 4:37Speaker 1: there is so much more programming now. For then, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: find I call us a little engine that could we
- 4:42Speaker 1: just because you're right, violence are small. It's not a
- 4:45Speaker 1: big station that you gotta find it, so that that's
- 4:48Speaker 1: really a compliment because you gotta want to see us too,
- 4:51Speaker 1: you know, you gotta want to says and a lot
- 4:53Speaker 1: of people don't have it. Says a lot of things
- 4:55Speaker 1: about the economy as well. A lot of people are
- 4:57Speaker 1: getting rid of the hbos in the show times and
- 5:00Speaker 1: that because they can't afford those cable packages anymore. My
- 5:03Speaker 1: mother is going through that right now. She's trying to
- 5:05Speaker 1: find a better way watch TV because she can't as
- 5:09Speaker 1: a scene and she can't afford almost two hundred dollars
- 5:11Speaker 1: a month, you know, between her internet, her phone bill
- 5:14Speaker 1: and Okay, well she can't afford that. So it says
- 5:16Speaker 1: a lot right now about why people are finding our
- 5:19Speaker 1: show because it's economically, you know, easy for them to
- 5:22Speaker 1: find it. The entertainment is what they want to see.
- 5:26Speaker 1: You know, it has something for all the ages, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: they you know, and they like it's a compliment to Bounce.
- 5:33Speaker 1: They like the product the Bounce was putting out. So
- 5:35Speaker 1: it feels really good. And yes, the cast is good.
- 5:38Speaker 1: You know, I'm leaving the cat and I think we
- 5:40Speaker 1: do a great job and we have a great time
- 5:43Speaker 1: on set when we work. So it's it's saying a
- 5:45Speaker 1: lot right now, and we're very proud of the show
- 5:48Speaker 1: and we just want to see if it grows. And
- 5:49Speaker 1: if you want to see season five, I got let
- 5:51Speaker 1: bound for them because we don't know if we're coming
- 5:53Speaker 1: back yet of course, So if on anybody, if you
- 5:56Speaker 1: want to season five, you need to let Bounce, No
- 5:58Speaker 1: come on that, We're gonna let that. Were I'm talking
- 6:00Speaker 1: to h very talented Vanessa Bell Calloway, the star of
- 6:04Speaker 1: a Bounce TV Saints and Centers, where she plays uh
- 6:07Speaker 1: Mayor Ella Johnson. She elevated from the First Lady now
- 6:10Speaker 1: she's the mayor. Now she's gonna run for state senators.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So we want to get to season six when she
- 6:15Speaker 1: pursues and kicks Trump out of the White House. There,
- 6:21Speaker 1: you don't I want to sit it out there for that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I obviously to that there because you know, because you
- 6:29Speaker 1: know your your life is about being balanced, about being challenged.
- 6:32Speaker 1: You know, when I was reading through your credits, uh,
- 6:36Speaker 1: when I was announced that I had thyra cancer, and
- 6:39Speaker 1: it quite frankly, it's stunned me, you know, because I
- 6:42Speaker 1: didn't see it coming. Does anybody here see bad news coming?
- 6:45Speaker 1: First of all? And when when you when it comes
- 6:48Speaker 1: to you, you have to realize how do you handle that?
- 6:51Speaker 1: Because my career was it was still I think, very successful,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and so I didn't understand. I had to understand how
- 6:58Speaker 1: does this type of news fit in that? Unfortunately, Uh,
- 7:01Speaker 1: you know, UH had the surgery and everything's successful and
- 7:05Speaker 1: and um do my checkups every year and I'm in remission.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So when you are announced that you had press cancer,
- 7:12Speaker 1: how did you handle that? Were you ready to tell
- 7:15Speaker 1: the world or were you fearful of telling the world
- 7:17Speaker 1: about your condition? Well, you know, it wasn't fear necessarily
- 7:22Speaker 1: fearful telling the world. I'm just a private person. So
- 7:25Speaker 1: for me, it was like, um, I can't share my
- 7:30Speaker 1: experience with anybody until I know what I'm sharing. So UM,
- 7:35Speaker 1: I kind of like needed, uh, I need a beginning, middle,
- 7:39Speaker 1: and end. You know, I'm kind of like a very
- 7:42Speaker 1: practical person, you know, Um, I kind of I need
- 7:46Speaker 1: nations and I didn't have enough information. So I didn't
- 7:49Speaker 1: want to just talk about something that I didn't know
- 7:51Speaker 1: what I was talking about yet, because I don't know
- 7:53Speaker 1: what was going on yet. I needed to to kind of,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, decipher what was going on and to absorb
- 7:59Speaker 1: my own my own issues in my own process before
- 8:02Speaker 1: I shared it. So no, I just kind of confided
- 8:05Speaker 1: in My husband, of course, is an anesthe biologist, and
- 8:08Speaker 1: he was very instrumental in finding all the right doctors
- 8:11Speaker 1: for me because he has a network of friends who
- 8:13Speaker 1: do a variety of medical things, and that was just
- 8:16Speaker 1: invaluable to have him number one on my team because
- 8:19Speaker 1: he's the one who really plotted everything out for me,
- 8:21Speaker 1: So that was invaluable. But you know, I told him.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Of course, I didn't even tell my children and my mother,
- 8:27Speaker 1: my mother in law, and my father in law and
- 8:29Speaker 1: several of my friends. First I didn't tell any of
- 8:31Speaker 1: them because I was trying to deal with it by myself,
- 8:33Speaker 1: hoping that I could, um, you know, figure out and
- 8:36Speaker 1: do anything done and then share with them after it
- 8:40Speaker 1: was over with. But unfortunately, you know, God has a
- 8:42Speaker 1: funny way of like, oh, missing, you think you've got
- 8:44Speaker 1: control of this, Now you ain't got control of it.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And I got this, so you kind of put me
- 8:49Speaker 1: in my place real quick. And I, uh, as I
- 8:52Speaker 1: realized that two lumpectomies, we're not going to save my breast,
- 8:55Speaker 1: and I needed to affect me as I was told initially, Um,
- 8:58Speaker 1: I had to share with my family. Um. And we
- 9:02Speaker 1: had a family meeting and I had to tell my
- 9:04Speaker 1: children and my mother and told my parents, you know,
- 9:06Speaker 1: my my husband's parents, my mother and father in law,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and uh you know my sister of course, she was
- 9:12Speaker 1: there from day one with me. So I mean it
- 9:15Speaker 1: was it was a process. And then I once I
- 9:17Speaker 1: wrapped my mind around what was going on and what
- 9:19Speaker 1: I needed to do, and I had a couple of
- 9:21Speaker 1: down days because you know, you when you could news
- 9:23Speaker 1: like that, it takes a minute to to adjust and
- 9:26Speaker 1: to absorb it. And take that information and you know,
- 9:29Speaker 1: to figure out what you're gonna do with this soce
- 9:31Speaker 1: I once I got past that stage of like, oh, I'm,
- 9:34Speaker 1: you know, thinking about a breast, my husband looked at me,
- 9:36Speaker 1: siphoness is the breast, Let it go. I don't care
- 9:38Speaker 1: about that breath. We got we got we got daughters,
- 9:41Speaker 1: we got graduations, and we got weddings. At that FID
- 9:44Speaker 1: my daughter was my little one was a sophomore in
- 9:48Speaker 1: high school and my oldest one was a sophomore expellment.
- 9:51Speaker 1: So you know, he's like, we got graduations, we got wedding,
- 9:55Speaker 1: we got like about that dreat, you know, And my
- 9:58Speaker 1: sister looked at me as a breathlet they go. So
- 10:01Speaker 1: you know, once I looked at their faces and they
- 10:02Speaker 1: were like, snap out of this, what are you talking about?
- 10:05Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, they're right. And from that
- 10:08Speaker 1: point I went into active hold you know, what are
- 10:11Speaker 1: we gonna do about this? Let me make it right.
- 10:13Speaker 1: So then from that point on, I just started doing
- 10:15Speaker 1: I had to do to get myself back to healthy,
- 10:18Speaker 1: which included from me on effected me and reconstruction. I
- 10:21Speaker 1: have what you call the last for Sean. It was
- 10:24Speaker 1: where they take a little fat out of your stomach
- 10:26Speaker 1: and they make a breath, so you using your own
- 10:28Speaker 1: body tissue, which I'm so glad I did, and that
- 10:32Speaker 1: I didn't do the um the what you call it
- 10:36Speaker 1: the I can't think of the name of it right now,
- 10:38Speaker 1: but you know when they put the breasts in a
- 10:42Speaker 1: little a little pot. The name escaped me right now.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But anyway, I'm so glad I didn't have to do that,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and I was going to use my own breath tissues.
- 10:52Speaker 1: You know, it's quite a surgery. Though it's quite a surgery.
- 10:55Speaker 1: You know that that's infort that you were to be
- 10:58Speaker 1: able to share this story. Because of the fact that
- 11:00Speaker 1: I've been able to share my story or my show
- 11:03Speaker 1: and the and the people understand that you can't come back,
- 11:06Speaker 1: you can't be strong, but it's a support system to
- 11:08Speaker 1: get you there. You gotta have the support system to
- 11:11Speaker 1: get to there. We'll be back with more Vanessa Bell
- 11:13Speaker 1: callaway because you all like all the great things I
- 11:15Speaker 1: also want to talk about there see Susan b Coom
- 11:17Speaker 1: when uh production uh that you are that you're cold
- 11:21Speaker 1: doing with them, as well as your live talk show,
- 11:23Speaker 1: your friends show. All these things We'll be back with more.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Vanessa Bell calloway. Hi, this Rashan McDonald. You're listening to
- 11:32Speaker 1: money making conversations and I'm enjoying a great interview with
- 11:35Speaker 1: a friend this person hasn't saw in a long time
- 11:37Speaker 1: in Hollywood. Um, she's joined much success and enjoined much
- 11:40Speaker 1: success on the show Saints and Centers in his fourth
- 11:43Speaker 1: season on Bounce TV, a show that ratings went on
- 11:47Speaker 1: Sunday night, beating this competition it's called she says, a
- 11:50Speaker 1: little engine, a little train that could going up that
- 11:53Speaker 1: hill and it's making waves. And we're gonna get up
- 11:57Speaker 1: to the sixth season, the sixth season when she's gonna
- 11:59Speaker 1: run for president. This season she's running for a state
- 12:01Speaker 1: senate and so we're gonna get there. Welcome back to
- 12:03Speaker 1: the show, and that's how are you doing? You'll give
- 12:07Speaker 1: me to the presidency? Season five, season six, I promise
- 12:11Speaker 1: I'll be president. I know you will be. I know
- 12:14Speaker 1: you will be. And I just love the fact with
- 12:16Speaker 1: this character, the energy you lead characters. It's a real character,
- 12:21Speaker 1: you know, you know because you see female African American
- 12:24Speaker 1: male mayors across the country now and it used to
- 12:27Speaker 1: be would that be a possibility several years ago. And
- 12:30Speaker 1: so your character is a realistic characters are doable characters
- 12:33Speaker 1: you see African American state senators. And also, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: people are even questioning whether or not why shouldn't Michelle
- 12:39Speaker 1: Obama run for the president of the United States. What's
- 12:42Speaker 1: stopping her? Why she's standing in the shadow. So everything
- 12:45Speaker 1: you're doing and saying in this show and projecting the show,
- 12:48Speaker 1: it's real, and it's happening every day. It's happening every day, right,
- 12:53Speaker 1: and that's really helping you be real about to care,
- 12:56Speaker 1: you know. But like you said, it's a little you know,
- 12:58Speaker 1: the character has a little, you know, a little long,
- 13:02Speaker 1: telacious side of her and gets in and she knows
- 13:05Speaker 1: how to manipulate characters. That's all about telling person she
- 13:08Speaker 1: got she got personality issues. She gotta keep personality. Okay, okay,
- 13:16Speaker 1: you called it tell us about a couple of personality
- 13:18Speaker 1: issues that you actually have developed. Come on, But gret
- 13:24Speaker 1: gret greet would be her figgest one. Uh, she has, no,
- 13:27Speaker 1: she does. I don't think she knows I spelled the
- 13:29Speaker 1: word empathy or sympathy. I don't think that's in her vocabulary. Um,
- 13:34Speaker 1: you know, she will step over anybody to get what
- 13:36Speaker 1: she wants. Call a little bit narcissistic. Yes, yes, yeah, yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 1: got a she got a few issues, but you know
- 13:45Speaker 1: she's working it out. Well, well, it's good because of
- 13:48Speaker 1: the fact that you're helping work out that character. Now,
- 13:51Speaker 1: when we was wrapping up the interview, in the first point,
- 13:52Speaker 1: we was talking about, you know, the whole breast cancer
- 13:54Speaker 1: Survivor and you announced the production deal with season Susan G. G.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Coleman amplified to know your Girls campaign? What exactly is that? Okay, well, um,
- 14:05Speaker 1: knowing your Girls campaign it's something that the ad Council
- 14:07Speaker 1: created and I'm the spokesperson in the voice. I don't
- 14:10Speaker 1: I don't know if you've seen those commercials, they're beautiful.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Uh they show all these different black women in different
- 14:14Speaker 1: scenarios of life. And the whole thing is like, do
- 14:17Speaker 1: you know your girls? You know, we know our girls,
- 14:18Speaker 1: we know our girlfriends, we know our our mothers, we're sisters,
- 14:21Speaker 1: were daughters, where we have sobers and we know all
- 14:24Speaker 1: these people. We celebrate life, we have weddings, we have babies,
- 14:28Speaker 1: we have were you has. We celebrate all these things
- 14:30Speaker 1: with our girls. But do you know the girls that
- 14:33Speaker 1: you carry around every day, the girls on your body,
- 14:36Speaker 1: you know, because women always refer to our breasts as
- 14:37Speaker 1: our girlfriends, right, so do you know these girls you know?
- 14:41Speaker 1: And and even in your circle of girls, do you
- 14:43Speaker 1: guys help each other reminding each other to go to
- 14:47Speaker 1: the doctors to um, you know, when's your last man bagram,
- 14:50Speaker 1: when's your last pepsim? Or do you go to the doctor.
- 14:53Speaker 1: So knowing your girls, the girls in your life, but
- 14:55Speaker 1: knowing the girls on your body as well as you
- 14:56Speaker 1: know the girls in your life. So it's a beautiful campaign.
- 14:59Speaker 1: So I've been partnering up with Susan G. Coleman. In
- 15:02Speaker 1: two thousand and six, I created a show called In
- 15:04Speaker 1: the Company of Friends that aired on TV one as
- 15:07Speaker 1: a TV special and it had um, I'm a gourmet cooks.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I cooked and I had all my some of my
- 15:13Speaker 1: famous friends over and we said at the table and
- 15:16Speaker 1: we chopped it up and just ate and had a
- 15:18Speaker 1: good time. At that time, Kenny Latimar Shawntemore, they were buried.
- 15:21Speaker 1: They sang on the show said that with their Kim Whitley,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I had just you know, uh the group particularly show
- 15:27Speaker 1: and we all sat around and chopped it up at
- 15:29Speaker 1: my table and it was a special on TV One.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Then about seven years ago, I rebranded it for a
- 15:35Speaker 1: web series and I had two seasons. I had a
- 15:38Speaker 1: dinner party season, and I had a Ladies t season,
- 15:41Speaker 1: and I had from Loretta Divine to Live a Cup
- 15:44Speaker 1: Fox just Shinola Hampton to Winnie Quel Robinson and that's Williams,
- 15:48Speaker 1: Sandy Um Richards and Whittville and DeAndre Whitfels. I had
- 15:52Speaker 1: like another group of my friends on these two seasons
- 15:55Speaker 1: where once again we were eating and drinking the real
- 15:58Speaker 1: and just laughing and chopping it up. You for real.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I like that. I heard that. I heard that. Now
- 16:04Speaker 1: we were drinking and were drinking, but the end of
- 16:06Speaker 1: the show we was really loose. So but this this year,
- 16:11Speaker 1: what I did is I was starting like last year,
- 16:14Speaker 1: actually we started uh A filming. I took my my
- 16:17Speaker 1: same show in the Company of Friends, and we rebranded
- 16:20Speaker 1: it to All Things Healthy and partnership with Susan G. Coleman.
- 16:23Speaker 1: So now there are a series of like ten minute
- 16:25Speaker 1: talk shows where I interviewed not only my famous friends
- 16:28Speaker 1: but interfe real life cancer survivors. We talked about breast cancer.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Of course, we talked about everything from stem research reads
- 16:36Speaker 1: a stem cell research, to other kinds of research, medical
- 16:39Speaker 1: research to AIDS to um you know, health and wellness
- 16:43Speaker 1: of fitness. Food, we have, we have cooking segments, we
- 16:47Speaker 1: do workout segments, we have I have my professional people on,
- 16:51Speaker 1: even my doctors who uh did my surgeries, they interviewed them,
- 16:56Speaker 1: and we have um other professionals on. So it's about
- 17:01Speaker 1: a ten minute talk show that will start airing this Monday,
- 17:05Speaker 1: August nineteenth, and the air every other Monday, twice a month.
- 17:09Speaker 1: You'll see a show and then it'll be archives. So
- 17:11Speaker 1: of course if you missed that, you can go back
- 17:13Speaker 1: if you need to go back and see it, and
- 17:15Speaker 1: we're gonna do that. Um it's been going on for
- 17:18Speaker 1: quite some time. And you'll be able to see it
- 17:20Speaker 1: on the Instagram you know channel, You'll be able to
- 17:24Speaker 1: see it on your AMP channel. You've be able to
- 17:26Speaker 1: see it on my website and the Company of Friends
- 17:29Speaker 1: dot tv. You'll be able to see it on YouTube,
- 17:31Speaker 1: Susan G. Coleman. You know. So it's gonna be the
- 17:33Speaker 1: shows and they're gonna come out and we're gonna see
- 17:35Speaker 1: what's gonna happen and we're hoping that it becomes even
- 17:38Speaker 1: something bigger and we could do a bigger shows on
- 17:41Speaker 1: another platform even so, um it's called in the Company
- 17:44Speaker 1: of Friends All Things Healthy, and you'll be able to
- 17:47Speaker 1: access it from ww dot in the Company of Friends
- 17:50Speaker 1: dot TV and at Vanessaville Callaway on Instagram and then
- 17:55Speaker 1: on YouTube in the Company of Friends, and yeah, it's
- 17:59Speaker 1: gonna be great. So now you have you but I
- 18:01Speaker 1: know your cancer survivor shout, You're gonna have to have
- 18:04Speaker 1: you on absolutely, and I appreciate the invite and I
- 18:06Speaker 1: will be there and let you know that I support you.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Now I'm just looking at social media is allowing you
- 18:12Speaker 1: to control your brand, And isn't it great that that
- 18:15Speaker 1: outlet is being made available because I'm talking about because
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm looking at your bio and the note they sent
- 18:21Speaker 1: over because September. In September, are you supposed to have
- 18:23Speaker 1: a Facebook live? And that's in for instance, that different
- 18:26Speaker 1: from what you just well, we're gonna do something live,
- 18:29Speaker 1: you know, like, uh, won't be every Wednesdays, but we're
- 18:32Speaker 1: gonna you know, we'll let you know what Whennesday, will
- 18:34Speaker 1: publicize it and what people can call it and just
- 18:37Speaker 1: you know, talk with the live and they can ask
- 18:39Speaker 1: questions that we can talk um, you know. And one
- 18:41Speaker 1: of the things that we don't have right now on
- 18:44Speaker 1: the site, but that we're gonna build, We're gonna build
- 18:47Speaker 1: it with Susan G. Combas. So you'll be able to
- 18:49Speaker 1: go on the site and you'll be able to say,
- 18:50Speaker 1: you know what, what's a doctor in my area that
- 18:53Speaker 1: I could go see and to the g COMA will
- 18:55Speaker 1: be able to to uh help refer you to a
- 18:59Speaker 1: cancer doctor in your area because maybe you don't really know,
- 19:03Speaker 1: you know, some people like because I get a lot
- 19:05Speaker 1: of people calling me like I think you know I
- 19:08Speaker 1: had a mammogram or I'm doing this, or do you
- 19:10Speaker 1: have a doctor? Refer because people need him, they need
- 19:12Speaker 1: that they weren't referral sometimes that everybody has great doctors.
- 19:16Speaker 1: You know, I'm looking into a system, but not everybody is.
- 19:19Speaker 1: So one of the things we're gonna definitely have on
- 19:22Speaker 1: the site is where you could go on You'll be
- 19:24Speaker 1: able to go in and come your friends and you'll
- 19:26Speaker 1: be able to go to a link and it will
- 19:29Speaker 1: it will kind of go onto a database and once
- 19:32Speaker 1: you put in your your zip code. Susan G. Coleman
- 19:34Speaker 1: will send you back doctors in your area and you'll
- 19:38Speaker 1: be able to, you know, call these people and make appointments.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You know, you need it personal, that they know that
- 19:44Speaker 1: that they work with you know. But like I said,
- 19:46Speaker 1: we're not gonna be It's not only about cancer, you know,
- 19:48Speaker 1: we're talking about you know, AIDS and diabetes and heart disease.
- 19:52Speaker 1: We're gonna cover all things healthy because it all comes
- 19:55Speaker 1: and it all links cancer. All this stuff links together,
- 19:58Speaker 1: you know, it all links as the help is us
- 20:01Speaker 1: going to the doctors on a regular basis in our community,
- 20:04Speaker 1: learning how to value back going to see your physicians regularly.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Like right now, when I finished with you, Randy refinished
- 20:11Speaker 1: with you to think my doctor's name is Randy Sean.
- 20:13Speaker 1: When I finished with you today and like got just called,
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm on my way to my general practitioner. And then
- 20:19Speaker 1: later on I'm saying one of my camps doctors, I've
- 20:21Speaker 1: already had my mamogram this year. You know, I go
- 20:24Speaker 1: in August. For me, this is when I see all
- 20:27Speaker 1: of my doctors. And I always tell people find the
- 20:29Speaker 1: time of year that works for you from people like
- 20:31Speaker 1: to do on their birthdays or whatever works for you.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I do it in August because my industry is a
- 20:36Speaker 1: little slower, and so if I do it as another time,
- 20:39Speaker 1: I might have to cancel on my appointment because I
- 20:41Speaker 1: might have to suddenly go out of town and work,
- 20:43Speaker 1: you know. So I do it in August, and I
- 20:46Speaker 1: got like between this week, Like last week, I had
- 20:48Speaker 1: my mamogram, I had another doctors pointment, I got point
- 20:50Speaker 1: of today. I'm going to a doctoral fract between my
- 20:53Speaker 1: next next Wednesday, I would have seen all my doctors.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I'm done. I had my teeth clean last week, and
- 20:58Speaker 1: that's just right. I do my new December. I do
- 21:01Speaker 1: my do my dental, I do my general general practitioner visit,
- 21:06Speaker 1: and then I do my blood test. All that's in December.
- 21:08Speaker 1: So so you put it, you put it on your
- 21:10Speaker 1: calendar fet your schedule, and you gotta do it every
- 21:12Speaker 1: year and you get and you just get it all done.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And I just get it all done at once, Like
- 21:17Speaker 1: I'm getting blood work done today, you know, because I
- 21:19Speaker 1: have two doctors a pointment today. I'm getting blood work
- 21:21Speaker 1: done today. I've see my on colleges on Monday because
- 21:24Speaker 1: she needs the blood work. You know, Wednesday, I would
- 21:27Speaker 1: be done with everything for the year. I even get
- 21:30Speaker 1: my eye vision show. I need to get my eyes check.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I can follow her around, I can follow her around
- 21:35Speaker 1: everything tis you get the mamogram. And then I did
- 21:38Speaker 1: going every I can't going everyone. Now you know what sean,
- 21:42Speaker 1: men get breast. I know that though men have to
- 21:45Speaker 1: be men have to check their breast too, because this
- 21:47Speaker 1: flushed you too. You know you got breath, you can
- 21:49Speaker 1: get cancer. That's the only the only three represent for
- 21:52Speaker 1: breast campers is that you have breast. And some men
- 21:54Speaker 1: have more tissue in their breast than other men. And
- 21:58Speaker 1: those men I actually one on colleges that I was
- 22:01Speaker 1: interviewing at the time when I was going through my
- 22:03Speaker 1: UH procedure trying to faire out who was going to
- 22:05Speaker 1: be my own colleges after my surgery. He was a man.
- 22:09Speaker 1: He was a white male doctor, and he was a
- 22:12Speaker 1: breast cancer survivor. And he's the one who told me
- 22:15Speaker 1: about the flap. He said, the only thing I'm gonna
- 22:17Speaker 1: tell you, even if you don't select me as your oncologist,
- 22:21Speaker 1: make sure when you get your reconstruction. Because I hadn't
- 22:24Speaker 1: had anything done yet. I was just in the beginning
- 22:26Speaker 1: stages of getting everything done. He said, when you have
- 22:29Speaker 1: you have your mammigrants. If you miss acted me, he said,
- 22:32Speaker 1: made sure that you use your own body tissue for reconstruction.
- 22:36Speaker 1: He's the one who told me about the flap. Okay, yeah,
- 22:40Speaker 1: I want to just I know we've got one minute left,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and I want to make sure we are in the
- 22:43Speaker 1: show talking about this great series that you're appearing in
- 22:47Speaker 1: every Sunday night. So I want you to give us
- 22:49Speaker 1: a great shout out, a great push to wrap this
- 22:51Speaker 1: interview up is the fourth season Saints and Centers is
- 22:54Speaker 1: on Bounce TV. Siners out that door. Everybody please watch
- 22:58Speaker 1: Safean Centers on bouncey be nine o'clock, eight o'clock Central time.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Watch that crazy Mary Mayor Ella and see what that
- 23:06Speaker 1: fool was up to the last episode. She just might
- 23:09Speaker 1: get her just do I don't know,
