- 1:22Speaker 1: my show right now? Please walking to Money Making Conversations, Masterclass,
- 1:26Speaker 1: A K A Little Murder J L. Fas Nicholson. How
- 1:30Speaker 1: you doing, sir, I'm doing well. Certain Thanks for happening me.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I appreciate it. Well, I'm gonna go back a little
- 1:35Speaker 1: bit to the first season. Man, this is when I
- 1:37Speaker 1: became a fan. Man, when you and uh Keyshaw came
- 1:41Speaker 1: out there in that finale, man, and I was I
- 1:44Speaker 1: was trying to find the CD. I was trying to
- 1:46Speaker 1: I was trying to find the CD. Man, I really
- 1:48Speaker 1: was trying to find the CD. I told Nico, who
- 1:51Speaker 1: I interviewed already, I said, man, you are you Let's
- 1:55Speaker 1: let's let's go back about you, man, because you see
- 1:57Speaker 1: so natural. It's an urban flick, you you know, and
- 2:01Speaker 1: it's all about feeling that moment and being in that moment.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Talk about that episode that I'm talking about, and when
- 2:08Speaker 1: did you feel that you really had a grip on
- 2:10Speaker 1: the character A Little Murder in the p Valley series.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Appreciate the cold words. Um. You know, we've been working
- 2:17Speaker 1: on this since two an eighteen. We did that first
- 2:19Speaker 1: College Um episode. They got it picked up in two
- 2:22Speaker 1: the eight teams. I knew then that we had to
- 2:24Speaker 1: hit it on our hands. I knew that, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 1: it was going to be a complex relationship with the audience,
- 2:30Speaker 1: but they were going to receive it. And so by
- 2:34Speaker 1: time we got into season one, I would say halfway
- 2:36Speaker 1: through the season, I was very comfortable with the character
- 2:40Speaker 1: that I was creating. Alongside Coutry Hall and the rest
- 2:43Speaker 1: of my cast makes the story that we were telling.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And then yeah, by the time we got to that
- 2:48Speaker 1: episode with Keshan and I Mad Murder and Knight, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 1: it was one of those things where the world had
- 2:54Speaker 1: already been so dronged by our show that you know,
- 2:58Speaker 1: it almost felt like it was happening in real time.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Not only was a Little Murder and Keyshine extremely popular
- 3:03Speaker 1: on the show, but then we were like popular in
- 3:05Speaker 1: real life too, and all of our fame was kind
- 3:07Speaker 1: of growing at the same time. So I would say
- 3:11Speaker 1: midway through the seasons, when I really locked in and
- 3:13Speaker 1: felt like I have to complete control over this character.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I know exactly what I'm going with them. And then um,
- 3:19Speaker 1: even the parts that made me a little apprehensive and
- 3:21Speaker 1: and scared and nervous to to portray or you know,
- 3:26Speaker 1: the emotions that I knew had to be portrayed. I
- 3:29Speaker 1: knew as long as I was I stayed true, as
- 3:30Speaker 1: long as I was honest with my actions, that the
- 3:33Speaker 1: world will receive it and eventually be kind to this
- 3:36Speaker 1: character that we're not so used to seeing. Well, definitely,
- 3:39Speaker 1: you know, I think that you know, we see uh,
- 3:41Speaker 1: we see life is uh, it's like it's like everybody
- 3:45Speaker 1: has a month now, you know, but that month has
- 3:47Speaker 1: to be received with information, has to be promoted. And
- 3:51Speaker 1: and then because of the fact that at this point
- 3:53Speaker 1: in life, it's really being promoted, and this show is
- 3:55Speaker 1: being promoted because of the approach it takes about the
- 3:58Speaker 1: community is representing. When you said you was a little nervous,
- 4:01Speaker 1: I just want to go back on what your comics
- 4:03Speaker 1: were just to get just to just to grow out
- 4:06Speaker 1: of that thought process so my audience can understand everything
- 4:09Speaker 1: is challenging and it can be on the piece of paper,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but you still have to honestly deliver the role. Talk
- 4:13Speaker 1: about that, yeah, man, I think every role comes with
- 4:17Speaker 1: an extreme amount of challenges, you know, especially roads that you, um,
- 4:21Speaker 1: you know, as a person, are not as familiar with.
- 4:24Speaker 1: You know, I knew who the murder is because of
- 4:26Speaker 1: the every man that he is in our society, you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: but as a head or a sexual man, it was
- 4:33Speaker 1: you know, I knew that I was portraying someone who
- 4:35Speaker 1: I wasn't and so just nervous about how the audience
- 4:38Speaker 1: was going to receive that. And then you know, one
- 4:40Speaker 1: of my my brothers and assistants who are who are
- 4:44Speaker 1: part of that community of g b t Q community
- 4:46Speaker 1: to feel respected and feel like that their story would
- 4:49Speaker 1: being told in an honest way. And so I think
- 4:52Speaker 1: that's where the nerves came from. Um. But now a
- 4:55Speaker 1: lot of those nerves have subsided, subsided, just because you
- 4:59Speaker 1: know the action of the show and how people are
- 5:01Speaker 1: accepting characters. Always gonna be love, always gonna behave, but
- 5:04Speaker 1: I always choose to accept more the love. Well, I
- 5:07Speaker 1: will tell you no hate here from Rashan McDonald, No
- 5:10Speaker 1: hate here from money making conference math. No here here
- 5:12Speaker 1: from my social media, No here from my news letter, Okay,
- 5:15Speaker 1: my radio show. Because of the television, you can only grow,
- 5:19Speaker 1: especially as a community. Let's let's go to black people,
- 5:22Speaker 1: because black people are the last a bit anything. And
- 5:25Speaker 1: sometimes when you start going to the gay community, that's
- 5:27Speaker 1: that's perceived as a flaw. And and we as a
- 5:30Speaker 1: as a community, until we started accepting this is not
- 5:33Speaker 1: a flaw, this is part of life, then we can
- 5:35Speaker 1: move forward as a community. And so so when the
- 5:38Speaker 1: show came out, you know, I would tell you, you know,
- 5:41Speaker 1: it was talking about the strip club and I wasn't
- 5:43Speaker 1: even feeling that, uh you know. And I will tell
- 5:46Speaker 1: you I had that same attitude when Power came out,
- 5:48Speaker 1: when it was talking about fifty cents and a drug
- 5:50Speaker 1: dealer and club. I'm not getting that fell in love
- 5:54Speaker 1: with that. And so I always tell people, don't reject,
- 5:57Speaker 1: participate and then allow story to grow on you. And
- 6:01Speaker 1: this story has grown on me now and it has
- 6:04Speaker 1: grown on this country. How have you reacted to that,
- 6:07Speaker 1: Jay Man? They're just trying to stay relaxed. And then
- 6:12Speaker 1: for me, you know, my wife and I were always
- 6:15Speaker 1: on the same page about you know, staying away from
- 6:17Speaker 1: certain comments on social media, or you know, not getting
- 6:20Speaker 1: too caught up in the whole fanfare of it all,
- 6:23Speaker 1: because people who love you one day that age next,
- 6:25Speaker 1: you know. So, but I appreciate all all of the
- 6:30Speaker 1: just amazing, you know, comments and just generous attention that
- 6:37Speaker 1: has been spent on pet Island. And we've built an
- 6:40Speaker 1: incredible fan base, and so to be a part of
- 6:42Speaker 1: the that is unlike any other show I've been on before,
- 6:45Speaker 1: and probably you know, unlike any experience I'll have gone
- 6:49Speaker 1: forward if you guys, just such a conglomerate and man's huge.
- 6:52Speaker 1: So I'm glad to be a part of it. We'll
- 6:54Speaker 1: be right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with
- 6:58Speaker 1: Rushan McDonald. Now, let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass
- 7:05Speaker 1: with Rashan McDonald. Well, you know an interesting thing about
- 7:07Speaker 1: the jail interviewing JR. Fons Nicholson. He's one of the
- 7:11Speaker 1: stars of p Valley. He plays the character a Little Murder,
- 7:14Speaker 1: one of the more popular characters on the series. He
- 7:17Speaker 1: got about like four story lines running simultaneously, you know,
- 7:20Speaker 1: So I say that's a good thing, because what happens
- 7:23Speaker 1: is you want to get back to Little Murder, find
- 7:24Speaker 1: out what's going on. You know, you're nervous about Keyshaw
- 7:27Speaker 1: because her husband's kind of crazy at the crib taking
- 7:30Speaker 1: kid kids. You don't know if he's gonna show up.
- 7:32Speaker 1: You know, I remember when you and Keisha was in
- 7:35Speaker 1: the same room. I was worried he's gonna busting the dough.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Think y'all having a relationship. You know, very talk about
- 7:42Speaker 1: that writing, man, because like I said, y'all got my
- 7:45Speaker 1: head spinning. And I'm gonna tell you something a little
- 7:47Speaker 1: background on me. I'm a sitcom writer back in the
- 7:49Speaker 1: Day's sister Sister Jamie Foxx show The Parkers, The Parenthood.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So I know about quality, right and so so I
- 7:59Speaker 1: also know about when I'm seeing it being played out
- 8:01Speaker 1: by outstanding acting. But the with the script, man, I
- 8:05Speaker 1: would tell you right now, I couldn't be in that
- 8:07Speaker 1: writer's room. Y'all came out, y'all coming out with languages
- 8:10Speaker 1: and statements. I can't even deal with. Man, talk about
- 8:13Speaker 1: that script there, jay yea, I'll be talking, man and
- 8:17Speaker 1: I And a lot of times I put the show
- 8:18Speaker 1: on close capting so I can see the script language
- 8:22Speaker 1: and it's off the chain man, talk about that man,
- 8:24Speaker 1: because that's what makes it authentic, you know. You know,
- 8:27Speaker 1: if you guys that went beyond the word ain't you know,
- 8:30Speaker 1: y'all got a whole language. Just happened that Mississippi, you know,
- 8:33Speaker 1: talk to us about that man. Shout out to the
- 8:37Speaker 1: Tory hall Man. She is just you know, an incredible writer,
- 8:42Speaker 1: pull of surprise winning writer at this point, and so
- 8:45Speaker 1: she honors and pays uh homage to what she hears.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And so that's one thing I'm grateful to be excuse me,
- 8:54Speaker 1: to be part of a show that allows us to
- 8:56Speaker 1: sit in our most familiar monopoly, you know. And for
- 9:00Speaker 1: me coming up through theater and you know, working my
- 9:04Speaker 1: way up to Broadway, there's this uh thing where you
- 9:07Speaker 1: have to speak very proper and have this standard American
- 9:10Speaker 1: England to be able to do the Shakespeare and all
- 9:12Speaker 1: these things. And we can come on back home and
- 9:16Speaker 1: sit in the Ebonics, which is one of the most beautiful,
- 9:19Speaker 1: you know, languages I feel, you know, and our culture
- 9:21Speaker 1: we created that, and so cot she explores all levels
- 9:25Speaker 1: of that, even when you know, like you said, black
- 9:27Speaker 1: people hate admitting that we sounded certain ways sometimes, but
- 9:30Speaker 1: it's true, you know and uh, when you get into
- 9:33Speaker 1: certain parts of the South, there's a very specific sound.
- 9:36Speaker 1: And obviously there's a diverse culture in the South as well.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Everyone doesn't sound the same um and I think we
- 9:41Speaker 1: show that very well on Pete Valley. And then you know,
- 9:43Speaker 1: like I said, Victoria, she's gonna use every inch of
- 9:46Speaker 1: her Couturi dictionary and lived to pull our words and
- 9:50Speaker 1: should make up something. And then there will be a
- 9:52Speaker 1: lot in there that you know, you heard your mom
- 9:54Speaker 1: and your aunt's and your cousins say several times. So
- 9:57Speaker 1: it's nice to be a part of it. I before
- 10:00Speaker 1: we get into the season two, I want to go
- 10:02Speaker 1: back to that that that that that the season for Nalie,
- 10:05Speaker 1: you know, when you came out and performed and because
- 10:08Speaker 1: I gotta go, I tell you that was a start
- 10:09Speaker 1: making turn for me, for you and also keep shan,
- 10:13Speaker 1: you know, because I was like, I was like at
- 10:15Speaker 1: the house, Wow, you know, I stop my wife, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: because she being as she I'll be watching all kind
- 10:21Speaker 1: of got my big screen. I just what you watching?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Next thing? She's sitting next to me. I said that,
- 10:25Speaker 1: I said, that board right there a star And I'm
- 10:27Speaker 1: gonna tell you something I'm not gonna ever asked you
- 10:28Speaker 1: to do what she's doing because it's impossible. I don't
- 10:31Speaker 1: know why she's doing it. She feels like, you know,
- 10:33Speaker 1: like a gymnast. But y'all had a start turning performance
- 10:37Speaker 1: there when that when when something happens like that, were
- 10:41Speaker 1: are you and emotionally and you do? You do? You do?
- 10:43Speaker 1: People tell you, wow, man, that was special? How did
- 10:47Speaker 1: that moment happen? Because it propelled you into season two? Um,
- 10:53Speaker 1: you know, I always just put my best foot forward,
- 10:56Speaker 1: no matter who my audiences, no matter who's watching, And
- 10:59Speaker 1: I think that's something it or taught me. Um, you know,
- 11:02Speaker 1: eight shows a week, you gotta bring it every time,
- 11:05Speaker 1: and so your audience is either going to lean into
- 11:09Speaker 1: that or sit back and pep out of order. They
- 11:11Speaker 1: just leaked into it, and so that let me feel
- 11:14Speaker 1: confident about the performance, even though you know, I feel
- 11:16Speaker 1: confident about it before we give it out to the orders,
- 11:19Speaker 1: but once they receive it and everyone it's going crazy.
- 11:24Speaker 1: And also just kind of being moved by the character
- 11:26Speaker 1: that they're saying. Also just transport the cinema, cinematography and
- 11:30Speaker 1: the storytelling. It means a lot because it's a lot
- 11:32Speaker 1: of hard work. So as an artist, you know, I
- 11:35Speaker 1: try to correlate it to pottery. You know, you you
- 11:38Speaker 1: make this beautiful pot it takes your time. You have
- 11:41Speaker 1: to paint it and sculpt it, and then once you
- 11:43Speaker 1: put it in stores or you give it as a
- 11:45Speaker 1: gift and that person's overwhelmed by what you've created. It
- 11:48Speaker 1: means as well, and so as a craft and for
- 11:52Speaker 1: someone to accept your craft and really appreciate it. Um,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know, it's just one of those things where you can't,
- 11:59Speaker 1: you really can't the feeling that it gives you, which
- 12:01Speaker 1: is just love and ultimately, you know, being seen for
- 12:04Speaker 1: the artists that you are. So it's it's a beautiful
- 12:07Speaker 1: thing that I love it. And sometimes, you know, can't
- 12:09Speaker 1: quite explain what the energy is. You can't explain what
- 12:11Speaker 1: it's like four point five many viewers watching every week
- 12:14Speaker 1: or sometimes the non Navy can't really explain that energy
- 12:17Speaker 1: is life. So it's just like you gotta go through it,
- 12:20Speaker 1: you know. Well, the reason I'm just bringing these things
- 12:24Speaker 1: up and just want to slow it down to my
- 12:25Speaker 1: listeners and viewers about p Valley is that it's a
- 12:29Speaker 1: substantive show and it deserves all awards that is being
- 12:33Speaker 1: put in front of us. The reason I like it
- 12:35Speaker 1: because white society they have created shows like this in
- 12:38Speaker 1: the past and have received these same type of rewards.
- 12:42Speaker 1: But we've never been able to cross over. You know,
- 12:45Speaker 1: we'll never be able to create a culture like they
- 12:47Speaker 1: do Godfather movies all the time, left and right. But
- 12:50Speaker 1: when we were doing stories about our culture, they will
- 12:52Speaker 1: never receive like this is being received, or like power power.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Really they get this credit, but this, this series is
- 12:59Speaker 1: getting this credit to get a one on Rotting Tomatoes.
- 13:03Speaker 1: That's a big wild factor. Jay, Yeah, that's a huge
- 13:06Speaker 1: wild factor. It doesn't happen too often, you know for
- 13:09Speaker 1: some of the largest shows to come out, you know,
- 13:11Speaker 1: white Black lack Team or whatever the uh you know,
- 13:15Speaker 1: the audiences or whatever the show that just doesn't happen.
- 13:20Speaker 1: So what to happen for us or to be a
- 13:22Speaker 1: you know, obviously majority black show, black brand show run
- 13:27Speaker 1: you know, majority black writers. Wrong. Uh, it's a huge accomplishment, man.
- 13:31Speaker 1: And you know, obviously it's one of those things where
- 13:34Speaker 1: that's what it is. It's a mouth stone and you
- 13:36Speaker 1: place that brick where it needs to go. I don't
- 13:38Speaker 1: let it wait too heavily. I mean, you know those
- 13:41Speaker 1: uh you know, critics and things like that, but it
- 13:43Speaker 1: means a lot, and I appreciate the people who take
- 13:45Speaker 1: time to write these reviews. On my show. We'll be
- 13:48Speaker 1: right back with more Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rushan McDonald. Now,
- 13:55Speaker 1: let's return to Money Making Conversations Masterclass with Rache McDonald.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna just tell you, Uh, popularity breeds both sides
- 14:04Speaker 1: of the conversation. Okay, ride with the positive brothers, ride
- 14:08Speaker 1: that you living in your heart. Uh, But I gotta
- 14:11Speaker 1: give some love to the actors who plays the character Keyshaw.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I got it. I want to get in your head now, Okay.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Seeing the athleticism, that's that's what we're talking about. Athleticism
- 14:22Speaker 1: on these poles. What what do you know. I'm like,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm lik oh my god, I'm in disbelief. What what
- 14:31Speaker 1: what are you seeing? Jay? And when you see this
- 14:35Speaker 1: as a guy going physically, this is this is incredible
- 14:39Speaker 1: what they're doing. Man, Pea Valley changed my whole perspective
- 14:45Speaker 1: on pole dancers. And you know, obviously sex workers and
- 14:49Speaker 1: strippers whatever name you want to um call it, I
- 14:53Speaker 1: prefer to call them athletes. And cold dance, right, you
- 14:57Speaker 1: know they have so shout out to Sharon, like you said,
- 15:00Speaker 1: Shannon Thornton, who plays the Shan Jeez put in an
- 15:04Speaker 1: incredible amount of work and then starts also pre Valley.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Also we have these stunt doubles come in and do
- 15:11Speaker 1: the high flying you know, poles dropping almost to the
- 15:15Speaker 1: ground stunts, and you realize, man, you know I could
- 15:19Speaker 1: do a thousand push ups and I still wouldn't be
- 15:21Speaker 1: able to climb up and have the strength that these
- 15:24Speaker 1: women have. And what makes it even more incredible than
- 15:27Speaker 1: black women are doing. And so you see them, they're
- 15:30Speaker 1: almost like these goddess and sitting up down that pole
- 15:33Speaker 1: and turning and flexing every muscle in their body to
- 15:38Speaker 1: you know, do these incredible stunts, and it's beautiful. Man's
- 15:41Speaker 1: mind blowing, especially when you can see it in person
- 15:43Speaker 1: up close. And it's even more mind blowing when you
- 15:45Speaker 1: know they have to do it fifteen times, ten times,
- 15:48Speaker 1: you know how many ever takes we have to do it.
- 15:50Speaker 1: These women and these incredible athletes are getting up here
- 15:53Speaker 1: and making it done, and so our actors, um, they
- 15:56Speaker 1: do a lot of their own stunts as well. But
- 15:59Speaker 1: then it's one of those things where they once they
- 16:00Speaker 1: get tired, they kind of you know, tap in, tag
- 16:03Speaker 1: in and have these come in and do the work.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I wish I knew the stunt uple names, but shout
- 16:08Speaker 1: out to Shannon Door and Brandy Van, you knowl Arrica Johnson,
- 16:12Speaker 1: all of our ladies ll being actors, you know, to
- 16:17Speaker 1: come in and do this incredible j J J. Be
- 16:19Speaker 1: messing up my head, be messing up my head, going like,
- 16:23Speaker 1: really they really they bruised up, and I look at them.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I said, well, if they're not tired, I know, let's
- 16:31Speaker 1: go to the second season. You know, we've got some
- 16:33Speaker 1: new characters coming into play. Big Teeth is coming in,
- 16:37Speaker 1: gotta co roll out of jail. So I'm gonna just
- 16:39Speaker 1: tell you this second season has been a nervous season
- 16:42Speaker 1: for me. This tone was kind of set when you
- 16:44Speaker 1: came out on the porch and you and the car
- 16:47Speaker 1: slowed down and you reached in your back. That set
- 16:50Speaker 1: the tone that you live in a violet world. You
- 16:52Speaker 1: have a world that has the ability to create violence.
- 16:58Speaker 1: And this episode here to see and as as as
- 17:01Speaker 1: you're on the road, you're out there with Keith John's
- 17:03Speaker 1: character out there, y'are doing the Dirty Dozen tour and
- 17:09Speaker 1: so take has let out of jail, explained to him
- 17:13Speaker 1: him his role, but not too much detail because I
- 17:15Speaker 1: want people to watch the show, Yes, sir, Um, Yeah, man,
- 17:21Speaker 1: he was. He is one of the characters that we
- 17:24Speaker 1: love people of one of the new characters. UM. Shout
- 17:27Speaker 1: out to the Tory Hall for finding John Stewart. You know,
- 17:30Speaker 1: John Stewart was on UM nbbc's uh Zoey's playlists. Also
- 17:35Speaker 1: Luke Cage also a lot of theater in New York.
- 17:37Speaker 1: So I was already uh found with him and his work.
- 17:40Speaker 1: So when I found out, I had to work opposite
- 17:42Speaker 1: of my said, man, this is gonna be powerful. And
- 17:44Speaker 1: uh he's another character, man that is very much a
- 17:47Speaker 1: real person. UM. You know in our society, people who
- 17:51Speaker 1: have been in prison and come out traumatized, um for
- 17:55Speaker 1: one because of their sexual orientation and then for two
- 17:59Speaker 1: because of just not being there to be acclimated to
- 18:01Speaker 1: the real world circumstances. And in his said case, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 1: it's one of those things where we see this character,
- 18:08Speaker 1: we know this character in real life, but we're now
- 18:10Speaker 1: getting opportunity to see the story played out on on
- 18:12Speaker 1: the screen and it's very um, just all levels man,
- 18:16Speaker 1: without like I said, without given too much a way,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I don't want to tell too much of this storyline.
- 18:20Speaker 1: But you see him go through every level of who
- 18:23Speaker 1: this man is and struggling with this sexual identity. So
- 18:27Speaker 1: it was, like I said, just struggling to be a
- 18:28Speaker 1: black man in society. So it's beautiful. And by time
- 18:31Speaker 1: we get to the end of the season, Uh, it's
- 18:34Speaker 1: a roller coast ride, man. It really does, taking on
- 18:36Speaker 1: these very highs and then you have some very loads,
- 18:39Speaker 1: big character as well as the murder's character. So I'm
- 18:41Speaker 1: excited to share that screen with the Well. One thing
- 18:44Speaker 1: we can talk about is that in going on the Road,
- 18:46Speaker 1: you're leaving a love relationship that you're maintaining as you
- 18:52Speaker 1: travel and trying to reconnect because you've done some things
- 18:55Speaker 1: and kind of damage that particular relationship. So talk about
- 18:59Speaker 1: that whole journey that you're putting together there and how
- 19:02Speaker 1: that's gonna come across. But I can't give away too much.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not talking about going too far beyond
- 19:10Speaker 1: episodes I've seen. I'm talking about emotionally, you know, you
- 19:13Speaker 1: made a mistake. This is a love relationship and at
- 19:16Speaker 1: the time you could have stood up for him. And
- 19:19Speaker 1: that's what he's that's what he's feeling right now, right
- 19:24Speaker 1: he's um. You know, it's complex, man. It's one of
- 19:27Speaker 1: those things where a little murder. I think it was
- 19:30Speaker 1: ready at one point in season one. I don't know
- 19:32Speaker 1: if you remember, but when Little Murders came into the
- 19:35Speaker 1: office and was telling Clipper, you know, I want to
- 19:37Speaker 1: take her on the date. I want to hit us
- 19:39Speaker 1: us to be out, and then Clifford, she gave a
- 19:41Speaker 1: little murder this really really kind of scary monologue about
- 19:46Speaker 1: what could possibly happen to them, and so then that
- 19:48Speaker 1: kind of defleted that kind of deflated this confidence around
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know, being cool he is, and and they wanting
- 19:56Speaker 1: to be as open as possible. And so I don't
- 19:59Speaker 1: think he send it to her Cliffords Feelings and Murder
- 20:02Speaker 1: episode eight, but it happened. But I think he knew
- 20:05Speaker 1: immediately that he had to redeem himself. Some interviewing, j R.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Falls Nicholson that he's one of the stars of p Valley.
- 20:11Speaker 1: He plays the character a little murder. If you don't
- 20:13Speaker 1: know about pe Valley on Rotten Tomatoes, the show confronts
- 20:18Speaker 1: and illustration, the realities of domestic violence. It really is
- 20:21Speaker 1: dead on suicide. Um, I can't forget. Uh. The church
- 20:26Speaker 1: is involved here, the COVID is involved here, the black
- 20:31Speaker 1: politics is involved here, a racial division is involved here.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Um humor is involved here. Because they all levels, man,
- 20:41Speaker 1: all levels Cantoris. She says that pretty often that p
- 20:45Speaker 1: Valley is dark, is deep, um syrtual, you know, and
- 20:50Speaker 1: it just it works on all levels. And it's one
- 20:53Speaker 1: of those things where, um, you know, the storytelling, it
- 20:57Speaker 1: kind of penetrates through every culture. I think, um cultural
- 21:01Speaker 1: crosses cultural boundaries in all types of ways. And like
- 21:04Speaker 1: you said, yeah, you're gonna have some dark moments and
- 21:07Speaker 1: you gonna have some really funny moment. Shout out to
- 21:09Speaker 1: Loretta Vine. She's one of my favorite characters. Are come down,
- 21:11Speaker 1: come on, now, come on, you know, and all of
- 21:14Speaker 1: her comic relief. Man, she's just she's great. She really
- 21:17Speaker 1: is one of the best character And obviously Uncle Clipper
- 21:19Speaker 1: and what Nico, what he brings to that character, what
- 21:23Speaker 1: he brings to her. So and then I think Little
- 21:25Speaker 1: Murder is funny too, man. Little Murder that a lot
- 21:26Speaker 1: of funny moments, but also a lot of dark and heavy.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I'm just call you a little murder. A little murder.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Let me tell you, man, I'll be scared for you. Man.
- 21:35Speaker 1: You know you've been out them to the streets. Brother,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you can I can't lose your little Murder. I can't
- 21:39Speaker 1: lose you. Like I said that that car pulled up,
- 21:41Speaker 1: I thought they're gonna take you out. You ready, but
- 21:45Speaker 1: they that you know, And it's funny that guy who
- 21:48Speaker 1: plays that character pull up in the car, one of
- 21:50Speaker 1: the characters from Queen and Slim. A lot of people
- 21:52Speaker 1: recognize and they knew what he did in that moment.
- 21:54Speaker 1: So you know, it's just good storytelling about the Tory man.
- 21:58Speaker 1: But you know, I promise you little Murder ain't going nowhere,
- 22:01Speaker 1: and uh you know you'll be able to see him
- 22:04Speaker 1: end out this journey and season two for sure. Um
- 22:07Speaker 1: so without spoiling too much. But thank you for having me, man,
- 22:10Speaker 1: I'm sorry that I had to look at brother. Don't
- 22:14Speaker 1: don't apologize your star stars, don't apologize. You know I'm
- 22:18Speaker 1: a bless that I'm able to have a real good conversation. Also,
- 22:21Speaker 1: let you know that I you know, I'm not just
- 22:23Speaker 1: giving you your narrow questions and allowing you to communicate
- 22:27Speaker 1: the sincerity of your career what you're doing on the show.
- 22:30Speaker 1: But if you have not watched the audience, listen to me, y'all.
- 22:33Speaker 1: If you have not watched P Vallet Sunday's ten pm
- 22:36Speaker 1: Eastern and Pacific standard time, set you set your time.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Don't even record it because you want to watch it
- 22:41Speaker 1: and then talk about it. See, I'm waiting them to
- 22:44Speaker 1: do a post show. Yeare the post show, because that's
- 22:47Speaker 1: what's coming up, the post show because social media is
- 22:51Speaker 1: demanding it. Yeah, that Brittany, y'all need a post season
- 22:58Speaker 1: season three. Man, come on, come on. They did it
- 23:00Speaker 1: with Power, they did with Power, Let's go do it
- 23:03Speaker 1: with P Valley. Okay, but brother, you'd be safe. Man.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I love your brother and stay strong. And man, tell
- 23:08Speaker 1: Nico high, my boy John Stewart, he's out of Atlanta.
- 23:12Speaker 1: He was not playing Big Tico on the show. Tell
- 23:14Speaker 1: him high because I interviewed when he was on Zoe's
- 23:16Speaker 1: So I got a little family over there working out there. Man.
- 23:18Speaker 1: We get all y'all on my show, man, and I
- 23:20Speaker 1: support y'all. One. Okay, keep winning, okay, brother, yes, sir,
- 23:24Speaker 1: I will likewise, brother must love to thank you cool.
