A first-generation American born to Mexican parents, Sheriff Ugarte brings over 20 years of law enforcement experience to the role. Starting his career at 19 as a corrections officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, he went on to serve as a Socorro police officer, a court bailiff, and a deputy constable.
